[0:01] Speaker 1: Good morning, this is Send7 World News in 7 minutes.
[0:06] Speaker 1: I'm Stephen Devincenzi. Today is Wednesday the 14th of October, 2026.
[0:11] Speaker 1: Starting in Europe today. In Italy, thieves have stolen 30,000
[0:16] Speaker 1: bottles of fine wine worth around 5 million euros. Renzo Cottarella,
[0:33] Speaker 1: CEO of the winemaker Marchesi Antinori, said that masked men
[0:40] Speaker 1: broke into their storage facility in Cortona, in Tuscany.
[0:44] Speaker 2: Seven people entered the winery and they stole at least
[0:50] Speaker 2: 50 pallets of wine that were ready to be shipped.
[0:54] Speaker 2: And they were the most important wine that we shipped
[0:58] Speaker 2: all together. once or two times a year when we
[1:01] Speaker 2: ship the wine to the importer. So this is the
[1:04] Speaker 2: reason why there was so much wine ready to be shipped.
[1:07] Speaker 2: And most of this wine was quite, let's say, expensive,
[1:11] Speaker 2: quite rare in a certain sense. So Solaia and Tignanello
[1:15] Speaker 2: were among 12,000 bottles each. Then a little bit of Guadaltasso,
[1:20] Speaker 2: which is our icon wine from Bulgaria, and some other
[1:23] Speaker 2: wines that were there. They were professional because it was
[1:26] Speaker 2: not easy. They did everything very quickly. They were very
[1:31] Speaker 2: well organized. They had two big tracks. You know, you
[1:36] Speaker 2: cannot do something like this if you are not really professional.
[1:38] Speaker 2: So to move the pallets, I mean, they were very fast.
[1:42] Speaker 2: So it means that they were really very well organized.
[1:46] Speaker 1: In Greece, the United States ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle,
[1:52] Speaker 1: has resigned after allegations of misconduct. The US president's office
[1:58] Speaker 1: asked Gilly Foyle to resign after allegations that she accepted
[2:03] Speaker 1: improper gifts and offered to use her influence in the
[2:07] Speaker 1: Trump administration in exchange for money. Despite being a Republican,
[2:12] Speaker 1: Gilly Foyle was previously married to Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom.
[2:19] Speaker 1: In Spain, a new liberal centrist party, has been started
[2:24] Speaker 1: by lawyer and former European Union advisor Miriam Gonzalez. Gonzalez

[2:33] Speaker 1: Minister Nick Clegg. Spain will hold a snap general election
[2:37] Speaker 1: next month. At the moment, most opinion polls are predicting
[2:41] Speaker 1: a similar result to in the previous election, with the
[2:45] Speaker 1: centre-right People's Party winning the most seats, the Socialist Party
[2:50] Speaker 1: coming second. and the far-right Vox Party coming third. The

[3:00] Speaker 1: with lung cancer. Americas Argentina and Brazil have restricted access
[3:09] Speaker 1: to some parts of their Iguazu National Parks because of
[3:14] Speaker 1: particularly high levels of water at the Iguazu waterfalls. On Monday,
[3:20] Speaker 1: Argentina temporarily closed its side of the waterfalls to visitors
[3:25] Speaker 1: and Brazil has closed walkways that go over the waterfalls.
[3:30] Speaker 1: In the United States, some Republican politicians have criticised President
[3:35] Speaker 1: Donald Trump's declaration that the US will buy diesel from Russia,
[3:40] Speaker 1: breaking with previous sanctions on Russia. In a joint letter,
[3:45] Speaker 1: six Republican senators, as well as Democrats, wrote, Quote, granting
[3:51] Speaker 1: Moscow the ability to sell Russian diesel freely in global
[3:55] Speaker 1: markets damages American security interests and is a betrayal of
[4:00] Speaker 1: the people of Ukraine who continue to defend themselves from
[4:04] Speaker 1: Putin's murderous illegal war. Also in the United States, a
[4:10] Speaker 1: man has died after falling out of a roller coaster
[4:14] Speaker 1: at the Six Flags over Georgia theme park. Six Flags
[4:18] Speaker 1: has said that it is temporarily suspending nine rides in
[4:21] Speaker 1: the US and Canada as a precaution. Also in the US,
[4:26] Speaker 1: a man convicted of organising the murder of rapper Tupac
[4:31] Speaker 1: Shakur in 1996 has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
[4:38] Speaker 1: Africa The Democratic Republic of the Congo's former president, Joseph Kabila,
[4:45] Speaker 1: has been named as the leader of a new coalition
[4:48] Speaker 1: of rebel groups aiming to remove the government. The most
[4:52] Speaker 1: powerful rebel group in the alliance is M23, which last
[4:57] Speaker 1: year took control of large parts of eastern DRC, including
[5:01] Speaker 1: the large cities of Goma and Bukavu. In a video
[5:06] Speaker 1: with M23 leaders, Joseph Kabila declared that the new organisation,
[5:11] Speaker 1: called Front for the Refoundation of the Nation, would overthrow
[5:16] Speaker 1: the government of President Felix Tshisekedi. Rwanda is going to
