[0:08] Speaker 1: But I invited you here. I thought I made myself
[0:14] Speaker 1: perfectly clear. But you're a guest to my home. You
[0:21] Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty, And I said.
[0:26] Speaker 2: No, guests.
[0:27] Speaker 1: Your presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff.
[0:35] Speaker 1: So how do you dance?
[0:36] Speaker 2: Surbey me?
[0:49] Speaker 3: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Richard Wineger. We're
[0:54] Speaker 3: here in the studio. I made it here safely. I
[0:57] Speaker 3: did a little dancing in the car. I'm in layers.
[1:01] Speaker 3: It's a great way to wear two shirts. What's going on?
[1:05] Speaker 3: I had another electrifying weekend. That's about all I can
[1:10] Speaker 3: say about that. I had a real conflict this morning.
[1:13] Speaker 3: I almost wore the podcast t shirt, just because I
[1:15] Speaker 3: love it so much. But I feel like, I think
[1:18] Speaker 3: we all know that's extremely tacky, and I don't know
[1:20] Speaker 3: what to do. Could I wear the shirt if I
[1:23] Speaker 3: just scratched out the name of the podcast? You know,
[1:26] Speaker 3: so it's just the graphic. I don't know, But don't
[1:30] Speaker 3: reach out. I'll figure out. I'll go on that journey
[1:32] Speaker 3: on my own. What happened over the weekend. I saw Hamnet,
[1:37] Speaker 3: which is you know, it's beautiful. The big revelation for
[1:40] Speaker 3: me is that Shakespeare was married to a heckler. I
[1:45] Speaker 3: don't know what to say. I imagine they had a
[1:46] Speaker 3: hard time going to comedy shows together. Didn't go to
[1:49] Speaker 3: the Little House on the Prairie. They had some sort
[1:53] Speaker 3: of meetup or show reunion somewhere in Santa Clarita, and
[1:59] Speaker 3: all of the VIP tickets were sold out. They were
[2:03] Speaker 3: also six hundred dollars, which made me think, there are
[2:07] Speaker 3: people with bigger problems than me. But maybe one year,
[2:10] Speaker 3: maybe we could do a gofund me to get me
[2:12] Speaker 3: to go to the Little House on the Prairie reunion.
[2:15] Speaker 3: We did watch an episode of Little House on the Prairie,
[2:18] Speaker 3: the most recent one we watched. The basic story was
[2:23] Speaker 3: a morphine addict came through town and taught Mary how
[2:26] Speaker 3: to play a little piano. That was a good one.
[2:30] Speaker 3: We had to skip the one with the centennial picnic.
[2:32] Speaker 3: That's the most boring episode of television ever made. Okay,
[2:37] Speaker 3: is there anything else I need to talk about? No,
[2:39] Speaker 3: I don't think so. We're here changing your life, rocking
[2:42] Speaker 3: your world. That's what the point of this podcast is.
[2:46] Speaker 3: Let's get into it. Today's guest is just absolutely fantastic.
[2:49] Speaker 3: It's Jessica McKenna, Jessica, welcome to Issaid No kids.
[2:53] Speaker 2: Wow, Hi, thank you.
[2:54] Speaker 3: Oh, I'm so happy to have you here in your
[2:57] Speaker 3: kind of representing your favorite corporation in this Disney T shirt.
[3:01] Speaker 2: Everyone has to pick one and you know, uh, and
[3:04] Speaker 2: there are two. There's two, and they're both bad, but
[3:08] Speaker 2: this one has fun rides.
[3:10] Speaker 3: I yes, yeah, I think that's a good way to
[3:13] Speaker 3: pick a corporation. Which one will let you go on
[3:15] Speaker 3: a rind? Which one has a haunted mansion.
[3:18] Speaker 2: Who has fireworks? You know? Who has a duck with
[3:21] Speaker 2: no pants?
[3:22] Speaker 3: Right? And very few of them, very.
[3:24] Speaker 2: Few of the two. And so I picked my side. No,
[3:26] Speaker 2: I apologize, I'm really time stamping. You're as No.
[3:29] Speaker 3: I like this. We're recording mid December. This will come
[3:32] Speaker 3: out mid January, and now people's people are going, oh.
[3:36] Speaker 2: God, I put the Holidays behind me.
[3:38] Speaker 3: Life was so different then. How am I supposed to
[3:40] Speaker 3: relate to this episode? But I love that it's got
[3:44] Speaker 3: Donald Mickey and Minnie and Daisy. Yeah yeah, oh and goofy.
[3:48] Speaker 3: Let's see things.
[3:50] Speaker 2: I know, right, it's uh and I tried to figure
[3:52] Speaker 2: this out. Oh gosh, I we're just talking about switching
[3:56] Speaker 2: to a visual medium in podcasts. But when I first
[3:59] Speaker 2: got it, I was like, what is the pattern? And
[4:01] Speaker 2: then this is interesting, Right, I'm wearing a shirt if
[4:05] Speaker 2: you're just listening, I'm wearing a shirt that has squares
[4:07] Speaker 2: with the main Disney characters and it's holiday. They're all
[4:09] Speaker 2: in Santa hats and there's a snow quality about it.
[4:12] Speaker 2: But the pattern actually goes vertical, not horizontal.
[4:15] Speaker 3: That's why I write it was so confusing. It's confusing, baffling.
[4:19] Speaker 3: It's almost like reading English versus reading Chinese right exactly right,
[4:24] Speaker 3: up and down right.
[4:25] Speaker 2: So once I saw that, I thought, oh, now it
[4:27] Speaker 2: makes sense. One line I would say is the main
[4:30] Speaker 2: three of Mickey Donald goofy. And then we got Daisy
[4:35] Speaker 2: Mini Pluto.
[4:36] Speaker 3: Okay, so that makes me think is Pluto a woman?
[4:40] Speaker 2: Right?
[4:41] Speaker 3: I don't think we ever got to the bottom of that.
[4:43] Speaker 2: Pluto full of mysteries.
[4:44] Speaker 3: In general, that's the one animal that doesn't talk right.
[4:47] Speaker 2: But is also a dog, right, and is the size
[4:51] Speaker 2: that a mouse can own them.
[4:53] Speaker 3: But there's a lot going on, a lot going on.
[4:58] Speaker 3: That poor creature a servant to the rest of these
[5:01] Speaker 3: evil animals.
[5:03] Speaker 2: Much like the corporation, we have to pick and Pluto
[5:06] Speaker 2: has picked. He thought, Now, do I love a mouse
[5:09] Speaker 2: having dominion over me? No? But what are the alternatives?
[5:13] Speaker 3: Does he belong to Mickey? Yeah, okay, yeah he does.
[5:17] Speaker 3: Does they need to? They've got to figure out what's
[5:19] Speaker 3: happening in the world of Mickey Mouse. I think, like
[5:21] Speaker 3: I feel like the world is too chaotic. It's anarchy.
[5:24] Speaker 2: You know, it'd be great. We had this happen last
[5:27] Speaker 2: year when the Steamboat Willie cartoon hit one hundred years
[5:30] Speaker 2: So now it's public domain. Oh right, right, we should agree,
[5:33] Speaker 2: you and I together right now that when Pluto becomes
[5:37] Speaker 2: public domain, we write his originc figure it out for
[5:40] Speaker 2: cure you.
[5:40] Speaker 3: No.
[5:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it's corporate espionage. I think he
[5:43] Speaker 2: works for Paramount.
[5:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why he's been so quiet. Yeah, he's kind
[5:48] Speaker 3: of a slug worth of the Willy Wonka world. Interesting?
[5:52] Speaker 3: Are you a Do you go to Disneyland often?
[5:54] Speaker 2: I do? I grew up. I'm an Orange County kid,
[5:57] Speaker 2: So I we did, like hear the fireworks from my backyard?
[5:59] Speaker 3: Oh god, were you calling and reporting it all.
[6:05] Speaker 2: Before or after the parade? I can't get the timing right.
[6:07] Speaker 2: Uh No, I really do love it. Rachel Bloom wrote
[6:11] Speaker 2: a memoir like a collection of stories. She has a
[6:14] Speaker 2: story about loving Disney. She's also a SOCU kid, and
[6:17] Speaker 2: she has a line that really resonated with me more
[6:19] Speaker 2: than any other poetry or piece of religious thought or
[6:22] Speaker 2: anything I've ever read in my life, where she said,
[6:24] Speaker 2: the right amount of loving Disney is the amount that
[6:28] Speaker 2: I love it.
[6:29] Speaker 3: Oh wow, that.
[6:31] Speaker 2: Anymore is insane and detached from reality and like grow
[6:34] Speaker 2: up and anything less is cynical. And I was like,
[6:37] Speaker 2: Rachel and I have a lot in comment, but I
[6:38] Speaker 2: was like, this might be the most significant thing we
[6:40] Speaker 2: haven't got got a connection.
[6:41] Speaker 3: I know, how often are you going to Disneyland?
[6:44] Speaker 2: When I grew up on the and the passes were
[6:46] Speaker 2: like more affordable, we would go a lot, Like I
[6:47] Speaker 2: would do a thing where I would get like dropped off,
[6:49] Speaker 2: like it was my mall.
[6:50] Speaker 3: Oh wow, yeah that makes sense.
[6:51] Speaker 2: It was cool, like you'd go on like one ride,
[6:53] Speaker 2: get a dinner, and like someone else's parents would pick
[6:55] Speaker 2: you up. Right now, I probably go twice a year.
[6:58] Speaker 3: Twice year.
[6:58] Speaker 2: I take like my nisse and nephews in the summer
[7:01] Speaker 2: usually and then probably have like one other time where
[7:04] Speaker 2: I go with like there'll be some other occasion.
[7:07] Speaker 3: Right, so you're not like an annual pass holder. How
[7:10] Speaker 3: much does that cost? That must be nine thousands to.
[7:12] Speaker 2: Get rid of it for a little bit, So I
[7:14] Speaker 2: don't know, but I just went this shirt is actually
[7:16] Speaker 2: from World. Oh my god, I don't often. I've only
[7:20] Speaker 2: been like twice because why go there when you grow
[7:23] Speaker 2: up by land? And I actually was like, I do
[7:26] Speaker 2: kind of want merch here because I also love holiday merch.
[7:29] Speaker 2: But I ended up refusing to get anything that said
[7:31] Speaker 2: World because it felt like it was confusing, confusing for
[7:34] Speaker 2: my personal brand.
[7:36] Speaker 3: Yeah, it raises too many questions and suddenly people are
[7:38] Speaker 3: asking you all the time.
[7:39] Speaker 2: Like why were you there? That's not where you live.
[7:44] Speaker 3: People get very violent serious about that type of thing.
[7:47] Speaker 3: You wouldn't have been able to leave the house.
[7:48] Speaker 2: No, And I just can't handle that right now.
[7:50] Speaker 3: You have enough problem.
[7:52] Speaker 2: I can't be taking that on. I have to buy
[7:54] Speaker 2: up all the VIP tickets for a little house in
[7:56] Speaker 2: the fray.
[7:59] Speaker 3: Oh god, that was disappointing to see. I don't know
[8:02] Speaker 3: if it was disappointing for me or just disappointing to
[8:04] Speaker 3: see people paying that much money for a VIP that's tough.
[8:07] Speaker 3: A lot of the cast is gone, so what are
[8:10] Speaker 3: you paying for? It's tough. And the whole I don't
[8:14] Speaker 3: know if you're aware of this, but they blew up
[8:16] Speaker 3: the whole set of Little House on the Prairie.
[8:18] Speaker 2: Oh that's devastating.
[8:19] Speaker 3: So you're not even getting to see the set. You're
[8:20] Speaker 3: just driving to Santa Clarita for no reason.
[8:23] Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
[8:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess how many reasons are there to drive
[8:27] Speaker 3: to Santa Clarita, right, My apologies to Santa Clarita. But
[8:31] Speaker 3: I think one of.
[8:31] Speaker 2: Us Red Lobsters?
[8:33] Speaker 3: Is that true?
[8:34] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[8:34] Speaker 3: Oh, have you been to it?
[8:35] Speaker 2: Uh?
[8:36] Speaker 3: Huh? Are you a big Red Lobster fan? Yeah, I've
[8:40] Speaker 3: never been to Red Lobster. Where'd you grow up in Utah?
[8:43] Speaker 2: Did you have them at all?
[8:44] Speaker 3: There were? I think there was like one, Yeah, And
[8:47] Speaker 3: for whatever reason, we just never got to go to
[8:49] Speaker 3: Red Lobster.
[8:49] Speaker 2: It was the It was both my sister and I's
[8:52] Speaker 2: pick for birthday dinner. No, we felt very fancy.
[8:55] Speaker 3: That feels like a very birthday dinner type place.
[8:57] Speaker 2: We'd get like crab legs for the table, which, oh,
[9:00] Speaker 2: sort of scad. Oh that's like you're an eight year
[9:03] Speaker 2: old trying to get gout. You know, you're you feel
[9:05] Speaker 2: very regal. And then and then I would always get
[9:07] Speaker 2: popcorn trip, which is just a chicken tender. You know,
[9:10] Speaker 2: it's just a chicken nugget.
[9:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's probably I guess it's the fancy
[9:14] Speaker 3: chicken nuggets. I've never really thought about.
[9:16] Speaker 2: It, and that I think is a perfect window into
[9:18] Speaker 2: my nine year old self, which is like, huh, have
[9:21] Speaker 2: you met me? I have quite an advanced palate for
[9:24] Speaker 2: my age, But I would like it to be deep
[9:25] Speaker 2: fried and I'm gonna dunk it.
[9:27] Speaker 3: And ketchup and they have the biscuits that everyone goes
[9:30] Speaker 3: crazy for. Yes, I feel like that the biscuit will
[9:34] Speaker 3: never happen for me. How could it?
[9:37] Speaker 2: Oh? I want it to, though I don't know if that.
[9:39] Speaker 3: You know, I feel like, if you like grew up
[9:41] Speaker 3: eating them, it's probably like the taste is built in
[9:44] Speaker 3: for you. But I think approaching that as an adult
[9:46] Speaker 3: might be difficult.
[9:48] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[9:49] Speaker 3: Ches biscuits.
[9:50] Speaker 2: They're quite they're quite objectively good.
[9:52] Speaker 3: I think what would you compare it to?
[9:57] Speaker 2: Let's see, are you a scone person at all? Like
[9:59] Speaker 2: I do like a because it has almost more. I
[10:02] Speaker 2: would stay closer to like when you get a really
[10:04] Speaker 2: good cheddar and chrive scone, okay, versus like a country
[10:09] Speaker 2: biscuit that you're covering in gravy. Right, it has like
[10:11] Speaker 2: a thicker.
[10:12] Speaker 3: You will be choking.
[10:14] Speaker 2: It's dense, but it's got like a nice salty melt
[10:17] Speaker 2: point right because it's still a ton of butter. And
[10:20] Speaker 2: I don't know if they still do this, but they
[10:21] Speaker 2: used to sell like at home kits where you could
[10:24] Speaker 2: make them.
[10:25] Speaker 3: Oh did you ever try that?
[10:26] Speaker 2: My mom did and they it felt accurate, So that
[10:29] Speaker 2: was your journey.
[10:30] Speaker 3: That feels bad for the company. Maybe that's why they're
[10:32] Speaker 3: in such financial trouble. They gave away the one thing
[10:34] Speaker 3: that everyone yes went there for.
[10:36] Speaker 2: And they were letting us have way too much shrimp.
[10:39] Speaker 3: That's right. That was like a real thing.
[10:41] Speaker 2: Yeah. My husband several times went with like trying to
[10:45] Speaker 2: join the centennial club, which is having more than one
[10:47] Speaker 2: hundred shrimp.
[10:48] Speaker 3: At a time. Yeah, putting one hundred shrimp in your stomach.
[10:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, he succeeded multiple times. But you have to pick
[10:55] Speaker 2: them just that way. I mean, I've stopped trying to
[10:59] Speaker 2: mask that math.
[11:00] Speaker 3: You know, were they like regular sized shrimp.
[11:02] Speaker 2: Sometimes they're small or you know, he'd like you can
[11:04] Speaker 2: pick the preparation, so he'd be doing like scampy or chill,
[11:09] Speaker 2: like just like cocktail shrimp. I don't know, but it's
[11:12] Speaker 2: still one hundred srimp.
[11:13] Speaker 3: That still must be like five pounds of food at least. Yeah.
[11:16] Speaker 2: And also that's really an awareness of like that's one
[11:19] Speaker 2: hundred individual animals.
[11:21] Speaker 3: Yeah, which is that's an entire population.
[11:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a village.
[11:25] Speaker 3: So and that was like an endless shrimp thing.
[11:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, and that they did that. It was like a
[11:30] Speaker 2: promotion they would do for like one weekend and then
[11:32] Speaker 2: it was popular, say let it grow, and that's financial
[11:35] Speaker 2: ruin right then. I think there are a few years
[11:37] Speaker 2: where you could always get endless shrimp or something.
[11:39] Speaker 3: So the company was self sabotage in the way they
[11:42] Speaker 3: had hit the self destruct button and said let's just tank.
[11:46] Speaker 2: You know, and not to time sampus again. But it
[11:47] Speaker 2: should be like Christmas. That's what keeps it special.
[11:49] Speaker 3: Oh right, I mean that's well, as a business owner,
[11:52] Speaker 3: you think, well, if we're giving away too much of
[11:54] Speaker 3: a thing, maybe we should only do that for a
[11:56] Speaker 3: short period. Yeah, that's how business.
[11:58] Speaker 2: Works, and then people will be so excited they'll make
[12:00] Speaker 2: it an annual trip.
[12:02] Speaker 3: Rather than well, we can get that anytime, right.
[12:04] Speaker 2: And now I'm never going to go because it's.
[12:05] Speaker 3: Special, granted, not knowing that we have a limited time
[12:09] Speaker 3: with the ones we love. That's right, that kind of
[12:11] Speaker 3: that's right now. They're probably by the time this comes out,
[12:13] Speaker 3: they may be fully out of business. I don't know.
[12:16] Speaker 2: I don't know either.
[12:17] Speaker 3: The last headline I saw it was they've been ruined
[12:19] Speaker 3: by endless Shrimp.
[12:20] Speaker 2: But I think they're in a rebrand where they are
[12:23] Speaker 2: pivoting towards that style of shrimp eating that's more like
[12:26] Speaker 2: a low country boil or like louisyan or you can
[12:30] Speaker 2: get like the bag of shrimp.
[12:31] Speaker 3: Have you ever done one of those across the table?
[12:34] Speaker 3: It's a sloppy mess. Yeah, So they're gonna have to
[12:36] Speaker 3: kind of redesign the restaurant, and I.
[12:38] Speaker 2: Think they've reduced their menu, which any anyone who's watched
[12:41] Speaker 2: you know, kitchen.
[12:43] Speaker 3: What restaurant impossible? One knows kitchen.
[12:46] Speaker 2: Hell, if the menu is too large, you're doomed. Right,
[12:48] Speaker 2: Although Cheeseak Factory is here thumbing, they've.
[12:51] Speaker 3: Really kind of said no that's not.
[12:53] Speaker 2: True, not true. For us, we are the exception that
[12:55] Speaker 2: proves the rule.
[12:56] Speaker 3: Novella. Yes, yeah, that's a one place that that kind
[13:01] Speaker 3: of has worked for whatever reason, I don't. And then
[13:04] Speaker 3: every other place, if you see more than fifty items
[13:07] Speaker 3: on a menu, you're saying, I gotta get.
[13:10] Speaker 2: Out of call Robert irvmine and I gotta get out
[13:13] Speaker 2: of here.
[13:14] Speaker 3: Robert Irvine I've had I've talked about him on the
[13:16] Speaker 3: show before because he has a new protein bar. How
[13:19] Speaker 3: is this revolting? Oh, they're discussed hair bars. They're my
[13:25] Speaker 3: boyfriend bought some at Costco. He overbought, and now they're
[13:29] Speaker 3: just sitting in our cupboard waiting for the next pandemic.
[13:31] Speaker 3: Terrible and I hate the thing so much. Too sweet.
[13:37] Speaker 2: I can't have.
[13:37] Speaker 3: Something that sweet in the morning. It's a real sugar
[13:39] Speaker 3: alcohol tasting bar. But they should have got He should
[13:42] Speaker 3: start going to giant corporations to rescue them rather than
[13:45] Speaker 3: these small businesses that he's picking on.
[13:47] Speaker 2: Right, it would be great to watch him save red Lobster.
[13:50] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I would watch that as a mini series.
[13:53] Speaker 3: You know, Wow, that could be a good limited series.
[13:56] Speaker 3: That's who lose next, Big Fat checked Red Lobster, right,
[14:00] Speaker 3: And that's also they have a kind of a at
[14:02] Speaker 3: least the name isn't like one of these things where
[14:04] Speaker 3: that you know, I've been complaining about Hampton and trying
[14:06] Speaker 3: to run from their name. Recently they've rebranded as Hampton
[14:10] Speaker 3: Get out of here. You can't rebrand as Lobster. No,
[14:13] Speaker 3: that becomes confused. Yeah, and Red doesn't tell you enough,
[14:18] Speaker 3: so then it's like, yeah, you'd have to do maybe
[14:20] Speaker 3: add a word red Lobster Express.
[14:23] Speaker 2: Right. Oh my gosh, can you imagine having like a
[14:26] Speaker 2: mini biscuit and shrimp before you got on a plane
[14:28] Speaker 2: like at Chili's too.
[14:31] Speaker 3: Just a plane full of extremely sick people speaking of
[14:38] Speaker 3: business renovations. And this is something else that people want
[14:41] Speaker 3: to want me to stop talking about, is have you
[14:42] Speaker 3: ever heard of Tabitha's Takeover? Get into this show?
[14:46] Speaker 2: Yes, remind the name is immediately because Tabitha is such
[14:50] Speaker 2: a unique name. Did you watch ever watch Passions? Oh?
[14:54] Speaker 3: I love whatever this is?
[14:55] Speaker 2: No, it was it was a soap opera like when
[14:58] Speaker 2: we were children, like lived shorter.
[15:01] Speaker 3: Lived okay, I mean compared to like a soap opera
[15:03] Speaker 3: that goes ninety.
[15:04] Speaker 2: Years exactly exactly. I believe there was a witch named
[15:08] Speaker 2: Tabitha on it or something.
[15:10] Speaker 3: It was.
[15:10] Speaker 2: It was wild. It would be the kind of thing
[15:11] Speaker 2: where you like were watching your Saturday Morning like or
[15:14] Speaker 2: you're like Tuesday morning Summer brainless TeV before you like
[15:18] Speaker 2: had to go to pool camp or something, and sometimes
[15:25] Speaker 2: you'd get all the way through the run up where
[15:26] Speaker 2: you'd get to like, now the only thing now I'm
[15:28] Speaker 2: into soap opera.
[15:30] Speaker 3: Right Anyway, Tabitha was soap operas have a witch.
[15:34] Speaker 2: That's what made Passions.
[15:35] Speaker 3: So that's what made it such a failure. Failure, but Passions, Oh,
[15:42] Speaker 3: Tabitha Takeover is not a soap opera. Yeah, it mean
[15:46] Speaker 3: kind of the dramas.
[15:47] Speaker 2: Is it like a TLC Ish program?
[15:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was on Bravo. It's this Australian woman and
[15:52] Speaker 3: she says, I'm tough, I'm talented, I'm taking over.
[15:55] Speaker 2: Was it Salons?
[15:56] Speaker 3: Initially it was Salons Tabitha's Salon Takeover that was the
[16:00] Speaker 3: successful series or relatively sure. Then she moved into Tabitha's
[16:04] Speaker 3: Takeover and you know, I just watched one where she
[16:07] Speaker 3: takes over a yogurt shop and it was just simply
[16:09] Speaker 3: not as compelling. Yeah, you want to watch her yelling
[16:11] Speaker 3: at hairdressers.
[16:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, I can picture her hair now.
[16:14] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's a very two thousand and eight like blondelde,
[16:21] Speaker 3: not spiky, kind of a dramatic bang. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
[16:25] Speaker 3: it's just a phenomenal show and I just love watching it.
[16:28] Speaker 3: But where did she go? Oh? I know what she did?
[16:32] Speaker 3: She started. She's now kind of a self help guru.
[16:34] Speaker 3: She has something called bitch Camp, which she teaches.
[16:37] Speaker 2: How to go after pool camp. Does she want us
[16:41] Speaker 2: to be more or less bitch? That's what I need
[16:43] Speaker 2: to know.
[16:44] Speaker 3: She wants you to be more. She wants you to
[16:46] Speaker 3: be much much more. And I hope that she's doing. Okay,
[16:49] Speaker 3: I think maybe I should reboot the show. I'm sure
[16:51] Speaker 3: there are plenty of salons that still need help.
[16:54] Speaker 2: Also, just your takeover of Tabitha's takeover.
[16:57] Speaker 3: Oh interesting, Tabitha has taken over. This is the new
[17:00] Speaker 3: category of reality shows. Somebody who comes in and revamps
[17:03] Speaker 3: failed reality.
[17:04] Speaker 2: Shows, like someone should have been able to come. I mean,
[17:07] Speaker 2: we'll see how it goes. But with like vander Pump
[17:09] Speaker 2: and them, or like they can't get a new rony
[17:11] Speaker 2: cast figured out, Like someone gets to come in and
[17:14] Speaker 2: be like the Robert Irvine of like the menu's too many.
[17:17] Speaker 2: It's too many, friend of I don't care about. Right,
[17:19] Speaker 2: You need to start with some relationships that are real
[17:22] Speaker 2: and build out from there. Everyone can't be purely cast.
[17:24] Speaker 2: Some of this has to be organic.
[17:26] Speaker 3: We know we no no longer know what they're fighting about.
[17:28] Speaker 3: This is a fight about a fight about a fight
[17:29] Speaker 3: about a fight. Yes, it could be kind of Project
[17:32] Speaker 3: green Light meets Tabitha's Takeover and we just go into
[17:36] Speaker 3: Bravo et cetera TLC.
[17:38] Speaker 2: And one of the biggest notes that I would give
[17:39] Speaker 2: the Bravo shows is you are not allowed to have
[17:43] Speaker 2: drama from outside blog podcast sources.
[17:48] Speaker 3: What about do you watch Salt Lake City?
[17:50] Speaker 2: Of course?
[17:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, what about like the TikTok or tweet because there's
[17:54] Speaker 3: been some explosive drama about the tiktoks and tweets.
[17:57] Speaker 2: Well really just Merediths reaction to the TikTok that then,
[18:00] Speaker 2: are we going to see footage from this plane.
[18:03] Speaker 3: The pl where Todd was looking at the other gal
[18:05] Speaker 3: on his iPad? How did I forget that's all they're
[18:09] Speaker 3: talking about.
[18:10] Speaker 2: It's crazy or at least that actually how was there.
[18:13] Speaker 3: No, you bring up such a good point. There should
[18:16] Speaker 3: there's footage of everything else that's ever happened on a
[18:18] Speaker 3: plane since twenty ten. Yes, how was that not filmed
[18:22] Speaker 3: by somebody on that plane? Brittany not filming it?
[18:25] Speaker 2: So true? Well, apparently she was crying into her hair.
[18:29] Speaker 2: Her hair was wet with tears. Here's evidence that we
[18:31] Speaker 2: have sopping West sopping wet with tears.
[18:35] Speaker 3: She had to towel off after this flush.
[18:37] Speaker 2: Here's the person sorry to just arail into Salt Lake
[18:39] Speaker 2: City for a second.
[18:40] Speaker 3: Don't apologize, but I mean the.
[18:43] Speaker 2: Person that I do trust in that situation is Mary,
[18:45] Speaker 2: cause because she has no reason to lie or fabricate,
[18:50] Speaker 2: you know, like I understand why Meredith would downplay and
[18:52] Speaker 2: why Lisa has chosen to stick with Meredith to downplay.
[18:55] Speaker 2: Heather was a sleep for some of it, so she's
[18:57] Speaker 2: an unreliable nearby. Plus she's like always in the pocket
[19:00] Speaker 2: of moving story right right, Whitney will fall in line
[19:04] Speaker 2: with whatever happens there. Britney sobbed to tears into her hair.
[19:08] Speaker 2: Angie is like riding high but doesn't really need the drama,
[19:12] Speaker 2: only wants us to love grease. Mary has no reason
[19:16] Speaker 2: to lie. So the fact that she has said, Meredith,
[19:19] Speaker 2: it was out of hand, and why won't you just
[19:21] Speaker 2: admit it was out of hand and we can move forward.
[19:23] Speaker 2: I'm like, it was out of hand, like it was.
[19:26] Speaker 2: Mary to me is the like the ding in the
[19:28] Speaker 2: scales that makes me go it was.
[19:30] Speaker 3: This is the thing about Mary Cosby is she has
[19:34] Speaker 3: been brought into the show and she does not care
[19:36] Speaker 3: about being involved in the show. Yes, so it's like
[19:38] Speaker 3: she's she's essentially the one normal person.
[19:42] Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, she couldn't be further from normal. But
[19:44] Speaker 2: she is objective because she doesn't.
[19:46] Speaker 3: Care, because she refuses to listen to producer.
[19:49] Speaker 2: Yes, and she's not interested in machinations or like let's
[19:51] Speaker 2: build a storyline or can you help move this forward?
[19:54] Speaker 3: She's just like no, yeah, she like often i'll watch her,
[19:57] Speaker 3: it's like she's not even aware that it's a reality.
[20:00] Speaker 3: She'll be like, she's not. She's like, why are they
[20:02] Speaker 3: fighting with each other? Why are you fighting with each other?
[20:04] Speaker 3: You should apologize? But she's thinking of them as human
[20:07] Speaker 3: beings rather than character Right, it's so fascinating. That's such
[20:10] Speaker 3: a good point. But who how small was this plane
[20:13] Speaker 3: that no one was filming it. There was a simply
[20:15] Speaker 3: there was a gay flight.
[20:16] Speaker 2: Attendant, and I'm thinking, are they holding it to the reunion?
[20:20] Speaker 3: Oh? Interesting? But what oh yeah, that's a great How
[20:26] Speaker 3: did it not.
[20:27] Speaker 2: Leak unless they bought out the footage? And they're like,
[20:30] Speaker 2: this is part of the rule is we will pay
[20:32] Speaker 2: you this amount of money for the footage, but if
[20:35] Speaker 2: it leaks, we you only get it if we make
[20:37] Speaker 2: it to the reunion with it being sealed.
[20:39] Speaker 3: Right, Andy Cohen kills you Yeah, wow, I bet everyone
[20:42] Speaker 3: on the plane had to sign an NDA well.
[20:45] Speaker 2: And also the production must have bought out first class entirely.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Oh interesting, And then you have that little curtain.
[20:50] Speaker 3: Here's my question. We frequently see them on these planes
[20:53] Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, they're not even in business class.
[20:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like what was this flight coming home from?
[21:00] Speaker 2: It was like, oh, from the from the island, the
[21:03] Speaker 2: Lillys Playground or whatever. The frink like it looked like
[21:06] Speaker 2: a sette to go on the yacht okay, right, And
[21:09] Speaker 2: it was like and this is an SLC recap podcast, right,
[21:12] Speaker 2: but you recap episodes from six weeks ago.
[21:15] Speaker 3: That you're basically describing. My patreon, I do talk about
[21:21] Speaker 3: this thing constantly. I mean, what I'm going I'm going
[21:25] Speaker 3: to Utah for for Christmas, and I'm going to I'm
[21:28] Speaker 3: going to visit Uh. Something I've learned recently is the
[21:30] Speaker 3: angiut sort of a Nepo baby. Her father owns this
[21:34] Speaker 3: chain of Utah famous Utah hamburger restaurants called Crown Burger.
[21:38] Speaker 3: So I'll probably make a stop there. I'm going to
[21:40] Speaker 3: go to Mary's Church beauty. Oh, I mean, I go
[21:43] Speaker 3: there every single time I'm there. I've been there. The
[21:47] Speaker 3: only time I haven't been there was my most recent
[21:49] Speaker 3: time because I went to jay Z Styles, which is
[21:52] Speaker 3: from the other show, Yeah, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
[21:55] Speaker 3: And I can't go to two different beauty places in
[21:57] Speaker 3: one trick.
[21:57] Speaker 2: And will you be cruising around with a dirty soda?
[22:00] Speaker 3: You know what? I try. I've been to Swig twice
[22:03] Speaker 3: and I regret it every time.
[22:04] Speaker 2: I just can't imagine drinking doctor pepper with coffee meat
[22:08] Speaker 2: in it. I just can't imagine.
[22:10] Speaker 3: Well, you can't imagine until you are, I know, and
[22:13] Speaker 3: then everything changes.
[22:15] Speaker 2: Now.
[22:15] Speaker 3: I didn't do that. I tried. I've tried other ones
[22:17] Speaker 3: that don't have I'm not going to try the cream
[22:19] Speaker 3: in a in the Doctor Pepper. But every time I go,
[22:23] Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I'll try the more controlled option and
[22:25] Speaker 3: it's still disgusting, revolting drink. But it's extremely popular. They're
[22:32] Speaker 3: on every corner there. Wow, And so maybe I'll try again.
[22:35] Speaker 3: I don't know. My boyfriend hasn't been there yet, so
[22:38] Speaker 3: maybe we'll go through swig once.
[22:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, you got you gotta do it.
[22:44] Speaker 3: Have you been to your towel?
[22:45] Speaker 2: Yes?
[22:45] Speaker 3: Okay, have you win?
[22:47] Speaker 2: I've been a bunch of times. Like I've not done
[22:50] Speaker 2: a lot of like Salt Lake City like city time,
[22:53] Speaker 2: Like we went on a ski trip there growing up,
[22:56] Speaker 2: and then I've gone to like the National Park.
[23:00] Speaker 3: Since Okay, so nothing really since the shows have become famous. No, okay, yeah,
[23:05] Speaker 3: so now that that don't have to be a whole tour,
[23:07] Speaker 3: I don't.
[23:07] Speaker 2: Have to be a whole trip.
[23:08] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[23:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder how.
[23:09] Speaker 3: Much longer Salt Lake City Housewives will last.
[23:13] Speaker 2: I feel like SLC is the crown jewel.
[23:14] Speaker 3: Right, yes, but it's like, how long does something like
[23:17] Speaker 3: this go?
[23:18] Speaker 2: Has like two more good seasons?
[23:20] Speaker 3: Well that's rough to hear two.
[23:22] Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe not. It's just like eventually people tire.
[23:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I always say, bring Monica and Linda back. Oh,
[23:30] Speaker 3: and then you've got I mean that will revive the
[23:32] Speaker 3: show for five seasons. Yeah, true, but I think they
[23:34] Speaker 3: will also.
[23:35] Speaker 2: Do you think we'll ever just merge ourt?
[23:38] Speaker 3: Oh, at some point one of the Secret Lives gals
[23:42] Speaker 3: is going to come over. Wow, it'll probably be Whitney Levitt. Yeah,
[23:45] Speaker 3: she's done with I mean, she is soaring.
[23:47] Speaker 2: I loved her honesty of like, I am here because
[23:51] Speaker 2: I can be on Dancing with the Stars. I was like, God,
[23:53] Speaker 2: bless it. This is a type of character I've never
[23:55] Speaker 2: seen on reality TV.
[23:57] Speaker 3: I am using all of you, and I'm open about it.
[24:00] Speaker 3: But this is a sisterhood, and I do.
[24:02] Speaker 2: Wish we could be friendlier, but I'm not that worried
[24:04] Speaker 2: about it. And it's working for Oh my gosh, it's brilliant.
[24:08] Speaker 3: She's going to be in a Hulu show at some point, she's.
[24:10] Speaker 2: Getting I'll get tickets to the Oscars. I golly, I
[24:16] Speaker 2: love it.
[24:16] Speaker 3: She's a talented gal and we love her.
[24:18] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[24:19] Speaker 3: Well, speaking of things I don't love. Look, I was
[24:23] Speaker 3: excited to have you here today.
[24:25] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[24:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought Jessica we'll come by, we'll have an
[24:27] Speaker 3: incredible time, and then we'll just you know, go on
[24:31] Speaker 3: with our lives. Yeah, the podcast is called I said
[24:34] Speaker 3: no gifts, right, and you waltzed in today whistling, holding
[24:38] Speaker 3: a little gift bag over your shoulder, and I thought, well,
[24:41] Speaker 3: now here comes trouble.
[24:42] Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's the holiday season, and you know,
[24:46] Speaker 2: my mother raised me right that you don't ever show
[24:48] Speaker 2: up without a host. Get so you know, maybe if
[24:53] Speaker 2: I was booked at a different time of year, I would
[24:54] Speaker 2: have obeyed it, Okay, but I just simply couldn't come
[24:58] Speaker 2: in empty, not to your beautiful study right now in
[25:02] Speaker 2: this the festive time of year.
[25:03] Speaker 3: None of that makes any sense to me. But I
[25:06] Speaker 3: mean the damage is done. Should we open it here
[25:09] Speaker 3: on the podcast?
[25:10] Speaker 2: I mean I'd love it if you would. Okay, fine,
[25:13] Speaker 2: you know, just you know, and I like to you know,
[25:15] Speaker 2: they say, don't don't make more work for a host,
[25:18] Speaker 2: So sometimes rude to bring flowers and now they must
[25:21] Speaker 2: fetch a vase or that before. Don't make work for
[25:24] Speaker 2: the host. Don't bring something that now needs a platter, right,
[25:27] Speaker 2: bring a bottle of wine, bring.
[25:30] Speaker 3: You know, whatever's going to happen.
[25:32] Speaker 2: And whatever's going to happen in here? Oh if we.
[25:36] Speaker 3: Haven't had tissue in a while. Oh oops, okay, okay,
[25:47] Speaker 3: reaching there, it seems like there are two things.
[25:49] Speaker 2: There's two well ones, like I would say, you know thin,
[25:52] Speaker 2: think about think about the festive season. One is a
[25:55] Speaker 2: gift and one's more of a stocking stuff.
[25:56] Speaker 3: Which one should take out first?
[25:57] Speaker 2: I think maybe the gift the thing that you can
[25:59] Speaker 2: really get your.
[26:00] Speaker 3: We'll take both. Yeah, perfect, let's just ignore you. I'll
[26:03] Speaker 3: ask for your advice that they ignore.
[26:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[26:07] Speaker 3: Oh I love this. I love Uh it's a juice
[26:12] Speaker 3: and citrus squeeze. Excuse me, Yeah, I've I've received one
[26:17] Speaker 3: of these before from Paul fig Wow. So you really
[26:21] Speaker 3: you two are twins?
[26:22] Speaker 2: Now, wow, that's an honor.
[26:25] Speaker 3: And you know, I used to do more videos of
[26:28] Speaker 3: demonstrating how to use the gifts. And I demonstrated and
[26:32] Speaker 3: everyone said, well, have you ever used one of these before?
[26:35] Speaker 3: You're doing it so wrong apparently, like and I've already
[26:38] Speaker 3: forgotten the way to do it, but like, how would
[26:41] Speaker 3: you do this?
[26:43] Speaker 2: Okay, so I would, uh, you know, cut the piece
[26:47] Speaker 2: of citrus in half. Yes, and then and this one's
[26:51] Speaker 2: really good for limes. This is very lime size, and
[26:53] Speaker 2: you'll remember because it's green.
[26:55] Speaker 3: Yes, of course I need.
[26:56] Speaker 2: Don't try to put a grape fruit in here, okay,
[26:58] Speaker 2: This one's mostly for limes or a small lemon.
[27:00] Speaker 3: Trying to put a grape fruit in this is mostly.
[27:02] Speaker 2: For limes, okay. And then I would put the lime
[27:05] Speaker 2: cut side down over these holes. It's little butt facing
[27:09] Speaker 2: up and then you press down right, and it, I mean.
[27:15] Speaker 3: It is.
[27:16] Speaker 2: It's such a game changer to have a citrus squeezer.
[27:19] Speaker 2: I'm sorry that this is doubling up, but I mean,
[27:21] Speaker 2: I know he's a martini man and it is essential
[27:25] Speaker 2: for any home bar, but also just cooking as well.
[27:28] Speaker 2: And anytime that I think, oh I don't want to
[27:30] Speaker 2: dirty it, let me not get it out right now,
[27:33] Speaker 2: it only calls for a squeeze of lemon. I'm always like,
[27:36] Speaker 2: what the hell am I doing? I'm getting way less
[27:39] Speaker 2: juice every time I use my.
[27:40] Speaker 3: Dumb hands, And why else do you own it? Well?
[27:43] Speaker 2: Exactly, And you know I used I watched a lot
[27:46] Speaker 2: of like Cooking Network Food Network growing up, and Alton
[27:49] Speaker 2: Brown used to rage against the single purpose tool. But
[27:55] Speaker 2: I feel like this doesn't apply because the difference of
[27:59] Speaker 2: the juice yield is massive.
[28:01] Speaker 3: I also think, like, I don't know, I feel like
[28:05] Speaker 3: this doesn't really get that dirty.
[28:06] Speaker 2: No, no, no, And it's just like a city. You
[28:09] Speaker 2: could literally just wipe it and put it back because
[28:11] Speaker 2: it's got all that acid.
[28:12] Speaker 3: I just assume it'll just burn away any bacteria.
[28:14] Speaker 2: And it's what we use for savich exactly.
[28:16] Speaker 3: Wow, great points. Yeah, tell at and Brown, how often
[28:21] Speaker 3: are you using a citrus to make up food or drink?
[28:24] Speaker 2: I would say a lot, Like you know, you do
[28:27] Speaker 2: like a little. And then also the seeds can't get through,
[28:29] Speaker 2: So if you want to brighten up a dish with
[28:31] Speaker 2: a little lemon across.
[28:32] Speaker 3: The top, uh huh. I have a couple of trees
[28:35] Speaker 3: in my backyard and I've been in my house for
[28:37] Speaker 3: five years and the orange tree has finally got fruit
[28:40] Speaker 3: on it, and I'm losing my mind. Yeah, eating, And
[28:44] Speaker 3: I've decided my favorite fruit is a blood.
[28:45] Speaker 2: Orange, and so now that's a lovely choice. You might
[28:48] Speaker 2: be able to fit a blood orange in there.
[28:49] Speaker 3: Yes, these are and this is about the size.
[28:51] Speaker 2: Oh.
[28:52] Speaker 3: And I will say that the way you demonstrated you
[28:54] Speaker 3: were doing it correctly, and I was doing it wrong,
[28:57] Speaker 3: did you I was putting it in, uh with the fruit? Yeah,
[29:02] Speaker 3: because you know it's like.
[29:03] Speaker 2: It looks like it looks like it's a cubby. Yeah.
[29:06] Speaker 3: They need to re shape these.
[29:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's more like I'm going to use force to
[29:11] Speaker 2: make it fit. It's not going to.
[29:13] Speaker 3: Fit right, And I stand by the way I chose
[29:17] Speaker 3: to use it. How was I supposed to know?
[29:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's confused.
[29:20] Speaker 3: Was humiliated on the line.
[29:23] Speaker 2: You don't put anything in that top there, and yet
[29:25] Speaker 2: it looks like it's meant to ho right.
[29:26] Speaker 3: The top is like an ice cream scoop. This could
[29:32] Speaker 3: easily scoop an ice cream. Why do they have that?
[29:34] Speaker 3: They should just block this off. They should have a
[29:36] Speaker 3: little cover over the tope.
[29:37] Speaker 2: They have a piece of caution tape at least.
[29:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, do not use that.
[29:41] Speaker 2: You don't get confused.
[29:42] Speaker 3: I mean this could be used as a spoon, a
[29:44] Speaker 3: gravy ladle, all kinds of things. So maybe that that's
[29:49] Speaker 3: I feel like there has to be some purpose for this.
[29:52] Speaker 2: It could just be filled.
[29:53] Speaker 3: That could simply be filled. And but maybe I bet
[29:56] Speaker 3: there are worse ones than this, and they fill them
[29:58] Speaker 3: in like a cheaper But this is more delicate class.
[30:01] Speaker 2: And they want you to. They're not using any unnecessary metals,
[30:05] Speaker 2: you know.
[30:05] Speaker 3: Right right, it's very efficient efficient. Where did this come from?
[30:10] Speaker 2: This came from the general store across the street from
[30:12] Speaker 2: where I live. I thought that place will have something fun,
[30:15] Speaker 2: and I popped around and there were lots of like
[30:18] Speaker 2: dumb things, and then ultimately I was like, I mean,
[30:21] Speaker 2: I'd actually use a citrus squeezer.
[30:23] Speaker 3: General stores are a confusing concept. Yes, they're kind of
[30:28] Speaker 3: at this point like what is it to go buy
[30:31] Speaker 3: like a like gifts for guys.
[30:34] Speaker 2: So I think this one is a little bit more
[30:37] Speaker 2: operating like a convenience store. I would say it has
[30:41] Speaker 2: like beer, wine, alcohol snacks. It it's almost like a
[30:45] Speaker 2: fancy seven to eleven that also has like incense and
[30:48] Speaker 2: candles and citru squeezers, right, and funny cards and like
[30:52] Speaker 2: and then it's attached to a pizza place. So it's
[30:54] Speaker 2: got a little bit more of a function. I remember
[30:56] Speaker 2: when it was like first coming in, it was like
[30:58] Speaker 2: this neighborhood does not need a twee pendleton blanket and
[31:01] Speaker 2: wood pencils, but it does have like food and not
[31:06] Speaker 2: only and not like tweet food, and how you can
[31:08] Speaker 2: get like talkies there.
[31:09] Speaker 3: I've seen this place before. Yeah, I've been. Yeah, I
[31:12] Speaker 3: know the pizza place it's attached to. I'm not going
[31:14] Speaker 3: to docs you, but I'm familiar with this place and
[31:17] Speaker 3: I have not visited it yet. It's nice, but I
[31:19] Speaker 3: was attempted to go in and get like a soda
[31:21] Speaker 3: or something.
[31:22] Speaker 2: You could get a soda. Right.
[31:23] Speaker 3: There's a general store in Silver Lake. That's a little
[31:26] Speaker 3: bit more of what you're describing. Yes, every time I
[31:28] Speaker 3: go in there, I just think, well, how are you
[31:29] Speaker 3: in businesses? Who's buying any of this?
[31:32] Speaker 2: I think that about the Strip and Atwater, where I
[31:34] Speaker 2: feel like there are four and I'm like, how are
[31:35] Speaker 2: you all sustained?
[31:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, there are a lot of I think it's rich children.
[31:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. I was just gonna say it's their
[31:43] Speaker 2: parents are successful and that's what they do.
[31:45] Speaker 3: It's like, now I'll open a place where like you
[31:47] Speaker 3: can buy like a leather bookmark. Uh huh yeah right.
[31:53] Speaker 3: I just like, and you never see anybody in them.
[31:56] Speaker 3: I have no I know exactly what's happening and that
[31:58] Speaker 3: everything will be way too expensive. So I just and
[32:02] Speaker 3: there are at least four in at Water, And I.
[32:04] Speaker 2: Also feel like I always feel like it's too personal somehow,
[32:08] Speaker 2: like that's the type of store that I feel like
[32:09] Speaker 2: I need to say goodbye when I leave.
[32:12] Speaker 3: Because that's the sort of store where I have to
[32:14] Speaker 3: lie yeh, I'm like I'll be back.
[32:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, oh thank you? Oh good you do have? Okay? Great?
[32:19] Speaker 2: Good to know? Okay, good to know.
[32:23] Speaker 3: And I always feel embarrassed that I might like even
[32:25] Speaker 3: looking at the price tag because I know they're looking
[32:26] Speaker 3: at me and they know that I'm going to think
[32:29] Speaker 3: it's too expensive. I hate those places. I do like
[32:32] Speaker 3: them for like cards, Okay, when you want to spend
[32:35] Speaker 3: nine dollars in a card, yeah, I guess that's you
[32:38] Speaker 3: know where I like to get a card. Trader Joe's
[32:41] Speaker 3: me too.
[32:42] Speaker 2: I love their cards. But also sometimes I feel like
[32:46] Speaker 2: they'll have like the main ones, and then you'll be like,
[32:49] Speaker 2: wait a second, you're missing like a whole main category,
[32:52] Speaker 2: like what funerals they'll have that, but they like won't
[32:56] Speaker 2: have like thank you or something oh right, which I
[32:59] Speaker 2: guess like I don't know. I think you should always
[33:01] Speaker 2: have like birthday, thank you, getting well, get well, thinking
[33:05] Speaker 2: of you, congratulations.
[33:07] Speaker 3: Right, I feel like you should never have they should
[33:10] Speaker 3: all be completely blownd. Just put an image on the
[33:13] Speaker 3: front and let me figure it out. Yeah, I'm always
[33:16] Speaker 3: so uncomfortable with whatever any card says.
[33:18] Speaker 2: So usually do they have writing inside the Trader Joe's cards.
[33:21] Speaker 2: It's like rare or it's very similarre.
[33:24] Speaker 3: I think that's how they keep prices down. They only
[33:25] Speaker 3: print on.
[33:26] Speaker 2: The front, just like the Squeezer. They're very yes, yes,
[33:29] Speaker 2: but the front will make it clear. The front will
[33:31] Speaker 2: say like, right, here comes your birthday and it'll be
[33:35] Speaker 2: like a train. That's like birthday train.
[33:38] Speaker 3: That makes up the majority. We all love the Trader
[33:43] Speaker 3: Joe's Birthday train.
[33:44] Speaker 2: No.
[33:44] Speaker 3: I like the ones where it's like, oh, here's a
[33:46] Speaker 3: here's the ocean washing up on the beach, and now
[33:50] Speaker 3: I can apply this to whatever. It's the birthday beach,
[33:52] Speaker 3: it's the death beach, it's the baby is coming to shore.
[33:56] Speaker 3: Just let me sign the wedding wave at it's a dollar.
[34:00] Speaker 3: And I think every other car card company is scamming. Yeah,
[34:04] Speaker 3: there's just no justifying more than a dollar for a card.
[34:07] Speaker 2: It's true.
[34:08] Speaker 3: I don't know what to say, but how did we
[34:11] Speaker 3: get to car We were complaining about general stories and
[34:14] Speaker 3: this is a beautiful item to have gotten there. Do
[34:17] Speaker 3: you have a favorite fruit?
[34:19] Speaker 2: I think it's pineapple, really good mangos up there.
[34:23] Speaker 3: I'm trying to start to think about favorite things. I
[34:27] Speaker 3: feel like as a child, you have all of your
[34:28] Speaker 3: favorite things. Then that all goes away and.
[34:30] Speaker 2: You're constantly getting drilled on.
[34:32] Speaker 3: Them constantly people. I'm even quizzed constantly, I get pulled over.
[34:36] Speaker 3: I'm being asked what my favorite fruit?
[34:38] Speaker 2: That answer ready?
[34:39] Speaker 3: But eating a blood orange recently, I was thinking, Wow,
[34:41] Speaker 3: this is my favorite fruit.
[34:43] Speaker 2: That's nice.
[34:43] Speaker 3: I like a fruit that's not too sweet that if
[34:46] Speaker 3: I eat too many of them it will give me
[34:47] Speaker 3: a stomach ache. So the tartness, I feel like, controls
[34:50] Speaker 3: how many you can eat, but I do the blood orange.
[34:55] Speaker 3: Blood orange is excellent.
[34:56] Speaker 2: I like a I like a grape well, I like
[34:58] Speaker 2: grapefruit flavored. I like citrus a lot.
[35:02] Speaker 3: In general, I love grapefruit juice. But I've recently realized
[35:06] Speaker 3: that it interacts with my medication.
[35:08] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yet what a weird one.
[35:10] Speaker 3: It's like kind of a magic fruit in a way
[35:11] Speaker 3: that like you're on well, U turn and suddenly that
[35:13] Speaker 3: grapefruit is saying no, you can't, So I can't. I
[35:16] Speaker 3: guess I can't drink it that often. It's more of
[35:17] Speaker 3: a treat, but it feels dangerous. It's like, well, maybe
[35:20] Speaker 3: I'll be really depressed today.
[35:22] Speaker 2: And ultimately I would say, no, grapefruit's worth that.
[35:25] Speaker 3: I'll say it absolutely is send me to the edge
[35:29] Speaker 3: of depression. I love the taste of grapefruit. I love
[35:33] Speaker 3: to eat a grapefruit. I don't own any grapefruit forks though.
[35:36] Speaker 2: Oh okay, do you know, but all right, future guests.
[35:41] Speaker 3: Please mark it. I love a little grapefruit fork.
[35:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, very delicate.
[35:47] Speaker 3: I guess you can eat them with a regular.
[35:48] Speaker 2: Fork, but I mostly ate them with spoons. With spoons, yeah,
[35:53] Speaker 2: it was like really carving segment.
[35:55] Speaker 3: It is kind of a disaster. As far as eating
[35:58] Speaker 3: it should be shaped like an orange. The segments should
[36:02] Speaker 3: be more like an orange.
[36:03] Speaker 2: I guess they are. If you seal them, no, they
[36:07] Speaker 2: would be big.
[36:07] Speaker 3: It would be massive. I've never peeled a grape.
[36:10] Speaker 2: I think it was just the aesthetics of the eighties
[36:12] Speaker 2: of diet culture, like we're gonna cut this and you're
[36:15] Speaker 2: gonna eat it like it's cereal, and that'll trick your brain.
[36:18] Speaker 3: I've never thought about that.
[36:20] Speaker 2: Is each segment. You're really gonna work for it, But
[36:23] Speaker 2: it means exactly the same.
[36:25] Speaker 3: I feel like you would feel insane peeling one. No
[36:28] Speaker 3: you can Wow, you'd feel so small.
[36:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that'd be good.
[36:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd feel like a little mouse, like when we
[36:35] Speaker 3: look at the stars. Right, it's exactly the same experience
[36:38] Speaker 3: as looking at the big dipper.
[36:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, remind reminding you of your place. Oh it's grapefruit.
[36:43] Speaker 3: I'm probably not that big.
[36:46] Speaker 2: Yes, this doesn't matter. Look at those grapefruit. Okay, take
[36:49] Speaker 2: a deep breath.
[36:51] Speaker 3: What was the last thing you made with your juice squeezer?
[36:54] Speaker 2: In the summer, my husband and I love a gin
[36:57] Speaker 2: and tonic. Oh, and we make something called an HV
[37:00] Speaker 2: G and T, which is a high volume G and
[37:02] Speaker 2: T because we love a G and T. But you're
[37:05] Speaker 2: but in the summer, you we actually desire more liquid,
[37:10] Speaker 2: especially if it's like the sundown or it's like the
[37:12] Speaker 2: like a happy hour cocktail. You don't want to like
[37:15] Speaker 2: have like a strong mixed drink. You actually want to
[37:17] Speaker 2: be like sipping on something exactly. So we invented the
[37:21] Speaker 2: HVG and T and we had cups made and so
[37:25] Speaker 2: that is a regular it's like two shots of gin,
[37:28] Speaker 2: usually drum shambo of the Irish gin. It has like
[37:31] Speaker 2: kind of notes of earl gray and then some tonic
[37:36] Speaker 2: and then you top the whole like rest of it
[37:39] Speaker 2: with like almost a whole can of pure bubbly Oh see,
[37:44] Speaker 2: like water it down with club soda. So now you're
[37:46] Speaker 2: gonna drink the equivalent of two drinks, but it's going
[37:48] Speaker 2: to take you way longer. And the key of it
[37:51] Speaker 2: to make the flavors balance is to put a lot
[37:53] Speaker 2: of lime, so it'll be like a full lime in each.
[37:57] Speaker 3: And what are the cups you had designed for them?
[37:59] Speaker 2: They're like the Yetti cup that's like one size. This
[38:03] Speaker 2: is not an official YETI no friads, but this is
[38:06] Speaker 2: it's like the size bigger than this that has the
[38:08] Speaker 2: like bulb out. Okay, and you can get those monograms.
[38:11] Speaker 2: So he got it for our anniversary, one for him
[38:14] Speaker 2: and one for me and they say HVG and T
[38:16] Speaker 2: and then our name on the back.
[38:18] Speaker 3: Oh hgt kind of HGTV very close. Wow, that could
[38:22] Speaker 3: be confused. Yeah, that feels like some sort of lawsuits. Yeah,
[38:26] Speaker 3: just on the fridge. Do you guys do a lot
[38:27] Speaker 3: of anniversary gifts?
[38:28] Speaker 2: No?
[38:29] Speaker 3: No, it was rare. Did you ever do? How long
[38:31] Speaker 3: have you been together?
[38:32] Speaker 2: We've been together fifteen years and we've been married for
[38:35] Speaker 2: ten and we have pretty like set rules about like
[38:38] Speaker 2: we don't give gifts for we say, no gifts, no
[38:42] Speaker 2: god loss. We give birthday gifts and Chris we have
[38:47] Speaker 2: like Christmas is like give one big gift and maybe
[38:50] Speaker 2: like four stocking stuffers. We try to keep it like
[38:53] Speaker 2: even no gift for Valentine's Day, no gift for anniversary.
[38:57] Speaker 2: So he kind of broke it.
[38:58] Speaker 3: Wow, Yeah, that was a He always forgets that. We
[39:01] Speaker 3: do cards, okay.
[39:02] Speaker 2: And then I'll be like I have a card and
[39:04] Speaker 2: it's nine dollars from a general store.
[39:07] Speaker 3: We don't. Uh, we're really like slowing down on gifts.
[39:10] Speaker 3: I just yeah, I just don't need any. And you know,
[39:13] Speaker 3: it's like as an adult, you just buy everything you
[39:15] Speaker 3: need or yeah.
[39:16] Speaker 2: Or if something occurs to you organically, then it's really
[39:19] Speaker 2: cool that you know someone can think of you, right,
[39:21] Speaker 2: But when it's forced and it's in like a if
[39:24] Speaker 2: you don't have a good idea and you end up
[39:25] Speaker 2: being like, okay, I bout you five shirts, Like I
[39:27] Speaker 2: don't know why'd I do that?
[39:28] Speaker 3: You know, you probably would have bought once that you
[39:30] Speaker 3: like more.
[39:31] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[39:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a giant Yeah. I don't think we're getting
[39:34] Speaker 3: I mean it's we're getting past the idea of being
[39:36] Speaker 3: a sad thing. Yeah, it's like, well, we just have
[39:39] Speaker 3: agreed what would I buy you?
[39:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, And we did a thing where for a while
[39:44] Speaker 2: we were like, oh, let's just make sure we do
[39:47] Speaker 2: something fun on our anniversary.
[39:49] Speaker 3: Oh interesting, right.
[39:50] Speaker 2: Let's go make sure we like, let's go away for
[39:53] Speaker 2: the weekend, or let's like like this year is our tenures?
[39:56] Speaker 2: Just like, so we went away for the weekend.
[39:57] Speaker 3: Where did you go? Oh? Hi, Oh that's nice.
[40:00] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:00] Speaker 3: I'm not a no high person.
[40:02] Speaker 2: I feel full of general stores.
[40:03] Speaker 3: It feels like to me, like Mother's Day as a city.
[40:07] Speaker 3: Does that make any sense?
[40:10] Speaker 2: It makes perfect sense.
[40:11] Speaker 3: It's for whatever reason, it doesn't have anything for me there,
[40:14] Speaker 3: but I totally understand why other people like it.
[40:16] Speaker 2: Do you enjoy like a spa.
[40:18] Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever actually been to like a spa.
[40:21] Speaker 3: You stay at and I don't drink so like wine,
[40:24] Speaker 3: I feel like you do need to have a glass
[40:25] Speaker 3: of wine while you're there.
[40:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would say, like a little massage and
[40:29] Speaker 2: then like a bike ride into town for brunch, you know.
[40:32] Speaker 3: See Mother's Day. Yeah, that's literally well, there's nothing wrong
[40:37] Speaker 3: with Mother's Day. Yeah, but I think if you were
[40:39] Speaker 3: to turn it into a physical place that would be oh.
[40:43] Speaker 2: Hi, yeah, I think that's probably true.
[40:45] Speaker 3: But that sounds like a lovely anniversary. True.
[40:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was nice.
[40:47] Speaker 3: I didn't mean to.
[40:48] Speaker 2: No, no, no. We rode bikes and we sat by
[40:50] Speaker 2: the pool and.
[40:51] Speaker 3: We totally relaxing. I mean it's I mean, that's essentially
[40:53] Speaker 3: what I do in Palm Springs, yes.
[40:56] Speaker 2: But very similar, like if you go in the right
[40:59] Speaker 2: weather where you're gonna be by a pool. To me,
[41:00] Speaker 2: it's pretty similar to like a Palm Springs experience.
[41:03] Speaker 3: I just need somewhere to read. Yeah, I don't know. Okay,
[41:06] Speaker 3: let's uh. We've got this other thing here, which it's
[41:08] Speaker 3: a fortune teller fish.
[41:10] Speaker 2: Have you ever done this?
[41:11] Speaker 3: I have no idea what this is. Oh really, listener.
[41:13] Speaker 3: It's a little like plastic uh what would you say, bag?
[41:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, like a small plastic sleeve.
[41:19] Speaker 3: And it says fortune teller miracle fish with a very
[41:22] Speaker 3: cute fish on the front.
[41:23] Speaker 2: I didn't realize how seafood themed this was gonna it
[41:26] Speaker 2: was going to be. But okay, so I have a
[41:28] Speaker 2: very vivid memory that when I saw a little mermaid
[41:30] Speaker 2: in the theaters, we got these. But they're just like,
[41:33] Speaker 2: you know, it's in the same sort of vein as
[41:35] Speaker 2: like a finger trap or like a yo yo or
[41:39] Speaker 2: something like some small trinket, but or like a mood rink.
[41:42] Speaker 2: So if you open the sleeve, there's a small fish
[41:46] Speaker 2: in it. Oh my god, you're going to put it
[41:47] Speaker 2: on your palm, hold your palm out, and it's going
[41:49] Speaker 2: to tell your fortune.
[41:50] Speaker 3: So just like this, yeah, just put it on it.
[41:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. Okay, okay, so it's like curling up.
[41:55] Speaker 2: Uh huh, it's actively curly, really curly. Oh my gosh,
[41:58] Speaker 2: fall curl tail flip what Okay, So then you can
[42:01] Speaker 2: look at the sleeve and it'll tell you your fortune.
[42:04] Speaker 3: Let's see. So uh with them, it says moving tail.
[42:08] Speaker 2: But uh, you definitely had moving tail, but you might
[42:11] Speaker 2: have is full curl.
[42:12] Speaker 3: One of the curling curls up entirely. Yeah, passionate, that's you.
[42:19] Speaker 2: The fish has told your fortune.
[42:21] Speaker 3: Everybody knew that already. I live a life of passion.
[42:23] Speaker 2: And what's tailed tail?
[42:25] Speaker 3: Moving tail? Indifference.
[42:27] Speaker 2: When it fully moved, it didn't just like flop like
[42:30] Speaker 2: a dead fish.
[42:31] Speaker 3: Right, It really curled up there in a way that
[42:34] Speaker 3: you know, I'm a fiery, passionate person.
[42:36] Speaker 2: That's a tight curl for a fortune fish.
[42:37] Speaker 3: Look at that, well, look at that full tube. Wow,
[42:41] Speaker 3: this has been I can't believe. I've never heard of this.
[42:43] Speaker 3: I've never used one.
[42:45] Speaker 2: You know, they might not be allowed in the city
[42:47] Speaker 2: of Utah.
[42:48] Speaker 3: How does this even work? What is that made of that?
[42:50] Speaker 3: That it's reacting to the heat of your hand or
[42:53] Speaker 3: just the who I am?
[42:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, the pulse of your heart. You know, it's sensing you.
[42:58] Speaker 2: It's making a home in your hand.
[43:00] Speaker 3: And this is interesting because I feel like I have
[43:02] Speaker 3: horrible circulation and usually my hands and feet are very cold.
[43:05] Speaker 3: So today something with the universe was saying passion, passion.
[43:09] Speaker 3: When was the last time you did one of those?
[43:12] Speaker 2: I think maybe this. There was a time like recently
[43:17] Speaker 2: where we were somewhere and we saw them and my
[43:18] Speaker 2: family was like laughing because we hadn't seen them in years,
[43:21] Speaker 2: and we like made my nephews and niece like try it.
[43:23] Speaker 2: We were just like fortune fish. It's been ages.
[43:26] Speaker 3: I love it. Yeah, Are you big into like psychics
[43:29] Speaker 3: this kind of thing? No, No, have you ever been
[43:31] Speaker 3: to a psychic?
[43:32] Speaker 2: No?
[43:33] Speaker 3: What a shame? Not in LA. You've got to go
[43:35] Speaker 3: to one.
[43:36] Speaker 2: I know. I'm just trying to hold the line.
[43:39] Speaker 3: For what line are you holding? Not losing your mind?
[43:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, just trying to just trying to keep those feet
[43:47] Speaker 2: on the ground.
[43:48] Speaker 3: Good luck. Yeah, No, I think I've held the line
[43:52] Speaker 3: pretty well. But I love the experience. Sure, It's just
[43:55] Speaker 3: like I haven't been to one of those ones that
[43:56] Speaker 3: says fortune teller the window, which I think that would
[43:59] Speaker 3: be incredible.
[44:00] Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and I sometimes like try to keep an
[44:01] Speaker 2: open mind, Like if I'm walking the streets of New
[44:04] Speaker 2: Orleans and I see something like that could be almost
[44:07] Speaker 2: like a I guess it's here too, Like if it
[44:09] Speaker 2: feels so ingrained in the culture, you're just being like
[44:13] Speaker 2: an open hearted tourist. Really, but I one time, for
[44:17] Speaker 2: a quiz for my friend's bachelor party, called a psychic
[44:22] Speaker 2: for their behalf and invented a game called like is
[44:26] Speaker 2: this something the psychic said? Or is this a lyric
[44:28] Speaker 2: from a musical?
[44:31] Speaker 3: That's great? Yeah, what musicals were using for every music?
[44:35] Speaker 2: Any like, really really broad You're a.
[44:38] Speaker 3: Big musical person. Yeah, have you been to New York
[44:42] Speaker 3: recently to see any shows?
[44:43] Speaker 2: I just was in New York with like a sort
[44:45] Speaker 2: of dedicated purpose that I wanted to see shows. But brag.
[44:49] Speaker 2: I have two friends who are in place, The World
[44:52] Speaker 2: of Tomorrow, which is with Tom Hanks and then Marjorie
[44:55] Speaker 2: Prime with June Squib. My friends Tom Hanks and June. Yeah,
[44:58] Speaker 2: of course my friends in plays, and so the plays
[45:01] Speaker 2: we saw were their plays.
[45:02] Speaker 3: Oh that's great, which is lovely.
[45:03] Speaker 2: But I was like, this is funny because it's been
[45:05] Speaker 2: a minute since I've been able to like go to
[45:07] Speaker 2: New York for shows.
[45:08] Speaker 3: And about your friend's work.
[45:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like a work friend. I wasn't like,
[45:11] Speaker 2: let me see death becomser or something right, right.
[45:15] Speaker 3: And you'll never see Queena Versailles.
[45:18] Speaker 2: I'll never see it that one before my very eyes.
[45:22] Speaker 3: I think it was like three weeks or something.
[45:24] Speaker 2: Tough, tough, it's a tough business.
[45:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, talking to somebody about this, I think that is
[45:29] Speaker 3: that the first Oh no, that's not the first documentary
[45:32] Speaker 3: to musical because there's great gardens gardens, but it was No.
[45:37] Speaker 2: I was going to say, like it might have just
[45:38] Speaker 2: been a zeitgeist thing where I feel like spelling Bee
[45:41] Speaker 2: was at the similar time as the Spelling and it's
[45:43] Speaker 2: not based on but it feels of a similar like oh,
[45:46] Speaker 2: group think moment where we decided spelling Bee's.
[45:49] Speaker 3: Were Spelling Bee the documentary. I loved that. I wonder
[45:52] Speaker 3: where those kids are now, we need to do a
[45:54] Speaker 3: catch up?
[45:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, where are they?
[45:55] Speaker 3: Where did the Spelling Bee take them? And it's been probably.
[45:59] Speaker 2: At least hundred years, so it's public domain.
[46:03] Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder that's hard. Somebody's got to catch up
[46:05] Speaker 3: a spelling Yeah. I imagine it probably wouldn't be very
[46:08] Speaker 3: fun to watch.
[46:09] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[46:09] Speaker 3: I feel like anytime you're catching up with people from
[46:11] Speaker 3: a documentary, it's usually.
[46:13] Speaker 2: They did that one documentary where they followed like a
[46:16] Speaker 2: certain group.
[46:16] Speaker 3: Of kids for seven up. Yeah, the British thing.
[46:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, I never watched it, but I know how to
[46:21] Speaker 2: reference it in this moment.
[46:22] Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean it's yeah, it's just watching time. Yeah,
[46:28] Speaker 3: it's uh, the funnest experience.
[46:31] Speaker 2: And that's why I feel like our dear sweet SLC.
[46:34] Speaker 2: Maybe you know you don't want it to overstay. It's
[46:37] Speaker 2: welcome and become.
[46:38] Speaker 3: But the thing I'll say is with you know, you
[46:41] Speaker 3: start with people whose lives are already a complete mess, right,
[46:44] Speaker 3: so it's just like, let's just watch it become a
[46:45] Speaker 3: different type of mess.
[46:47] Speaker 2: And I'm just like, are any of these I mean,
[46:49] Speaker 2: I feel like the longer they stay, the more like
[46:52] Speaker 2: the marriages don't last.
[46:53] Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, well, and these marriages were all hanging
[46:56] Speaker 3: by a thread. The fact that there hasn't been a
[46:59] Speaker 3: big dival until now, right, Todd? Goodbye Todd? Wait?
[47:03] Speaker 2: Is that a fish?
[47:04] Speaker 3: I thought it was? I thought Bronwin was divorcing him.
[47:08] Speaker 2: Is that outside the show? Is that news?
[47:11] Speaker 3: That's news outside of the show?
[47:12] Speaker 2: That's huge?
[47:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like recent outside of you know, because they
[47:15] Speaker 3: probably shot it in the spring of twenty five. What
[47:20] Speaker 3: is time?
[47:20] Speaker 2: I mean, it seemed bad. He stole the cherry out
[47:22] Speaker 2: of her Sunday after she explicitly said that's my favorite part,
[47:26] Speaker 2: and that's.
[47:27] Speaker 3: Just a red flag about both of them. No one
[47:28] Speaker 3: likes that cherry.
[47:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, as an adult, like that was like something I
[47:32] Speaker 2: would get out the bottom of my Shirley Temple is like, hooray.
[47:36] Speaker 3: The fact that he stole that was so crazy and
[47:39] Speaker 3: it was such a father daughter day. I know everything
[47:42] Speaker 3: about it was tough to watch. Yeah, he wasn't you know,
[47:45] Speaker 3: like age gap things you can be like sometimes like
[47:48] Speaker 3: oh he's charming or he's really good looking. He was
[47:50] Speaker 3: just kind of nothing. He was just like a Yeah,
[47:53] Speaker 3: he should have been married to Muzzy. Yeah, those two
[47:56] Speaker 3: would be an excellent couple. Yes, maybe that's maybe she
[48:00] Speaker 3: was the gal he was looking at on a plane.
[48:02] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Muzzy.
[48:04] Speaker 3: She was sending him photos. Now wow, how did I
[48:10] Speaker 3: not piece that together? She was living in his house.
[48:12] Speaker 3: It was all under Bronwin's nose.
[48:14] Speaker 2: And here's what we've been able to do today. We've
[48:15] Speaker 2: been sleuths.
[48:18] Speaker 3: Get your magnifying glass, put on your hat, and you're
[48:21] Speaker 3: smoking pipe. Wow.
[48:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we could be a segment on
[48:25] Speaker 2: the reun your world, Like, don't tell us anything yet,
[48:27] Speaker 2: let us guess.
[48:30] Speaker 3: Do you know what I heard recently? Part of the
[48:32] Speaker 3: reason Lisa has makeup every day is she can't see
[48:36] Speaker 3: very well. I think that's what I heard.
[48:39] Speaker 2: That kind of breaks my heart.
[48:40] Speaker 3: But it's the sort of thing where it's like, why
[48:42] Speaker 3: doesn't she say that, that's the one thing that could
[48:44] Speaker 3: humanize this person. She's like, no, I want to be
[48:46] Speaker 3: a monster.
[48:47] Speaker 2: Why don't you You can't just like put on this
[48:49] Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I mean my mom will often be like,
[48:52] Speaker 2: will you check my eyeliner? You know, and there's like
[48:56] Speaker 2: a dexterity thing. And but apparently my sister was just like, mom,
[49:01] Speaker 2: just line with shadow instead and use this brush and
[49:04] Speaker 2: it'll blend softer anyway.
[49:06] Speaker 3: Wow, what a great tip.
[49:07] Speaker 2: I know.
[49:08] Speaker 3: See this is how podcasts change people's lives. So listeners like, oh,
[49:11] Speaker 3: now I can fix my I'm a mess. But yeah,
[49:14] Speaker 3: apparently I think Heather said that on an after show
[49:18] Speaker 3: or something that is interesting, big secrets that should be
[49:21] Speaker 3: the drama of Dex season. Yeah, that revelation you never know.
[49:26] Speaker 2: And that's why she's always wearing big glasses.
[49:28] Speaker 3: Oh interesting, do you know? Wow? Those are all giant
[49:33] Speaker 3: prescription glasses.
[49:34] Speaker 2: There's a chance and maybe she doesn't have good she's
[49:38] Speaker 2: not a candidate for contacts.
[49:39] Speaker 3: Maybe And we never see her driving, do we. I
[49:42] Speaker 3: feel like it's usually John driving. Yeah, and she's eating
[49:45] Speaker 3: chicken nug Yeah. Oh wow, it's one of these.
[49:49] Speaker 2: It's all becoming clear. Oh my gosh.
[49:52] Speaker 3: It's all like it's very sixth sense, where it's.
[49:54] Speaker 2: Like it's been there the whole time.
[49:56] Speaker 3: It was all the little can't.
[49:58] Speaker 2: Hear and Lisa can't see I have to stick together.
[50:01] Speaker 3: Wow.
[50:02] Speaker 2: And they're both not from Utah.
[50:07] Speaker 3: Fascinating and they're both very sensitive about it.
[50:10] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[50:11] Speaker 3: Interesting interesting, interesting, And if they would both just own
[50:15] Speaker 3: up to it are a little bit more, yeah, I'd
[50:18] Speaker 3: be like, Oh, I get it now, Yeah, you're not
[50:20] Speaker 3: just the devil. I don't know. Well, I'm passionate. I've
[50:24] Speaker 3: got my lime squeezer. I think we should play a game. Great,
[50:28] Speaker 3: we're gonna play a game called Gift or a Curse.
[50:29] Speaker 3: But I need a number between one and ten from
[50:31] Speaker 3: you four. Okay. I have to do some light calculating
[50:34] Speaker 3: to get our game piece. So right now, you can recommend, promote,
[50:37] Speaker 3: do whatever you want. I'll be right back.
[50:39] Speaker 2: Okay, great, I don't really have anything to super promote
[50:42] Speaker 2: right now. I tour a lot, but we won't be
[50:45] Speaker 2: touring un till April. I guess if you live in Texas,
[50:47] Speaker 2: you can see off Book, which is my former podcast
[50:51] Speaker 2: that now just tours where we improvise a musical. So
[50:54] Speaker 2: if you're in Texas and you want to come to Moontower,
[50:57] Speaker 2: you can come see off Book also I'll recommend a
[51:00] Speaker 2: sitch a squeezer. I really think it's worth it. And
[51:02] Speaker 2: anytime you have ever cut just like a wedge of
[51:05] Speaker 2: a lime and tried to do that, it's not the same.
[51:09] Speaker 2: And that squeeze is going sideways. It's not going down
[51:12] Speaker 2: into your cup, okay, And that's how you get that's
[51:14] Speaker 2: how you get it in an open cut. You know
[51:17] Speaker 2: that's not nice. And also more recipes than you think
[51:20] Speaker 2: could benefit from a little bit of citrus to brighten
[51:23] Speaker 2: it up. Do you know about acid in your food?
[51:28] Speaker 3: Very good?
[51:28] Speaker 2: Thanks, very good.
[51:29] Speaker 3: I mean I will say, when you're out squeezing the
[51:32] Speaker 3: thing into the drink, go for it. And I also
[51:35] Speaker 3: think getting it in a cut nothing wrong with that. Wow,
[51:38] Speaker 3: it's a little prairie advice. But now suddenly it's so clean.
[51:42] Speaker 3: It is clean, fresh smelling. Yeah, but ultimately we need
[51:45] Speaker 3: the squeezer in the home.
[51:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, I agree. Like if you are
[51:49] Speaker 2: at a wedding and you got like a you waited
[51:51] Speaker 2: fifteen minutes for a vodka cran and you're like, gotta
[51:53] Speaker 2: get this lime in here, do your best, but no,
[51:56] Speaker 2: most of that juice is going sideways when you squeeze it.
[51:59] Speaker 3: And now you have thing floating at the bottom of
[52:01] Speaker 3: your drink, kind of a little dead shrimp down there.
[52:04] Speaker 3: Tough to hear. Okay, do I have anything to recommend her?
[52:09] Speaker 3: I already said, We've got the T shirt. Now the
[52:11] Speaker 3: merch go to exactly right store dot com. Yeah, that
[52:17] Speaker 3: seems right.
[52:18] Speaker 2: Okay, seemed exactly right.
[52:22] Speaker 3: This is how we play Gift or a Curse. I'm
[52:23] Speaker 3: going to name three things, so you'll tell me if
[52:25] Speaker 3: there are a gift or a curse and why I
[52:26] Speaker 3: don't tell you if you're right or wrong, because there
[52:28] Speaker 3: are correct answers, you can lose the game. Great, all right?
[52:31] Speaker 3: This first one is from a listener named Emily. Gift
[52:33] Speaker 3: or a Curse looking at a menu online right before
[52:36] Speaker 3: dining at the restaurant.
[52:40] Speaker 2: I think this is ultimately a curse. Why I have
[52:43] Speaker 2: done that before? Sometimes right before. I don't think I've
[52:46] Speaker 2: ever done right before. I've sometimes if it's a really
[52:49] Speaker 2: big splurge, or or if you're in charge of like
[52:52] Speaker 2: picking a food place for maybe disparate dietary needs and
[52:56] Speaker 2: you have to look at the menu to make sure, like, oh,
[52:58] Speaker 2: everyone could get something here, or this is gonna be
[53:01] Speaker 2: the right vibe for this, you know, hangout that I'm
[53:04] Speaker 2: trying to plan. But ultimately, I think one of the
[53:08] Speaker 2: great joys and I'm I'm glad that the QR codes
[53:11] Speaker 2: have like been pushed back a little bit and they're
[53:14] Speaker 2: mostly just at like very very fast casual type restaurants now.
[53:18] Speaker 2: But I think a great joy is to sit down
[53:20] Speaker 2: and have that like discovery. It's a great small talk
[53:24] Speaker 2: to the beginning of the night to have that, like,
[53:28] Speaker 2: you know, let's break the ice here. We can be like,
[53:29] Speaker 2: oh wait, did you see they actually have fetuccini? And
[53:33] Speaker 2: now we're and now we can talk about that before
[53:35] Speaker 2: we talk about like, hey, did you hear the uh
[53:38] Speaker 2: Todd and Brownwood are getting a divorce? You know, you
[53:40] Speaker 2: can't just go right to that. It's like the emmuz
[53:42] Speaker 2: boosh for the conversation is the menu And if everyone's
[53:47] Speaker 2: like I already looked ahead and I know what I'm getting.
[53:49] Speaker 2: I'm getting duck comfee and I'm like, whoa should we
[53:52] Speaker 2: share the duck comfie? Like you know, And also I
[53:54] Speaker 2: think it's very nice to sit down at a meal
[53:56] Speaker 2: and try to be on even footing. So if you've
[53:58] Speaker 2: looked at the menu, and some hasn't. I understand there's
[54:03] Speaker 2: a time and place, but I think ultimately.
[54:05] Speaker 3: Occurs correct, thank you, but for different reasons. I'm seeing
[54:10] Speaker 3: the words right before. No, no, no, it should have
[54:13] Speaker 3: been weeks. You should have been studying the menu. Uh huh.
[54:16] Speaker 3: Worrying about the price is panicking about what you'll eat,
[54:20] Speaker 3: deciding and looking and going back and forth, really weighing
[54:23] Speaker 3: the pros and cons of each menu item, saying if
[54:26] Speaker 3: you even trust the restaurant, then looking at it again,
[54:30] Speaker 3: maybe showing it to your partner, showing it again, then
[54:32] Speaker 3: going to the restaurant, and still asking the waiter for suggestions. Yes,
[54:36] Speaker 3: I think that ultimately you need to have you need
[54:38] Speaker 3: to essentially have memorized the menu in advance.
[54:43] Speaker 2: Well, so that's an example where maybe I would have
[54:45] Speaker 2: gotten points deducted in my show the work, but but
[54:48] Speaker 2: you would have ultimately said some of the points because
[54:50] Speaker 2: you're like you did get the right answer. The hypot
[54:52] Speaker 2: news is this.
[54:53] Speaker 3: But but we know you cheated. You looked at somebody.
[54:56] Speaker 3: All right, You've gotten one right so far. The second
[55:00] Speaker 3: from a listener named Samantha Gift or a curse gravestone recipes.
[55:04] Speaker 3: Have you heard of this. Now, this is something I
[55:06] Speaker 3: recently became familiar with. I don't know if this is
[55:08] Speaker 3: something that's bubbling up online or what, but there, you know,
[55:11] Speaker 3: it's literally what it is. I think it's like on
[55:13] Speaker 3: your gravestone, you have your favorite recipe or something.
[55:18] Speaker 2: I don't know about this, Okay, let me think about it.
[55:22] Speaker 2: Let me not just be knee jerk. Okay. I'm torn
[55:27] Speaker 2: because I think I'm becoming anti grave in general. Like
[55:31] Speaker 2: I think we should all be made into seed pods
[55:33] Speaker 2: or dust.
[55:34] Speaker 3: Like.
[55:34] Speaker 2: I don't like the idea all grieving machinations and businesses
[55:41] Speaker 2: are for the living, and so I get that, do
[55:44] Speaker 2: what you think. But I don't want people to like
[55:46] Speaker 2: come to a little like granite square for me. I
[55:50] Speaker 2: want them to think about me any other place and
[55:52] Speaker 2: not just have this very morbid place where they go
[55:55] Speaker 2: where they're surrounded by other granite squares, where you're like,
[55:57] Speaker 2: oh my gosh, this is really set. I mean up
[56:00] Speaker 2: visiting my grandmother's grave, and it was always very sad.
[56:03] Speaker 2: It didn't make me feel closer to her or like,
[56:06] Speaker 2: you know, I felt closer to her when I would
[56:08] Speaker 2: remember something, or we'd laugh about something, or someone would
[56:10] Speaker 2: tell the story about something funny she did, or that
[56:14] Speaker 2: was how we kept her memory alive. The granite stone
[56:16] Speaker 2: I don't like. Also recipes, they get splatched, they get
[56:20] Speaker 2: like things spilled on them. They're meant to like live
[56:22] Speaker 2: in the kitchen, because ultimately you're gonna have to have
[56:24] Speaker 2: a picture of this gravestone. So if you're like, hey,
[56:26] Speaker 2: does anyone remember how grandma made her Swedish meatballs? Here,
[56:29] Speaker 2: let me send you a screenshot of a photo I
[56:32] Speaker 2: have of her grave. Whereas that should just be in
[56:35] Speaker 2: a recipe card or something that you all have as
[56:37] Speaker 2: her grandchildren. So I'm gonna say curse, although I like
[56:41] Speaker 2: the idea of that. I like part of that, which
[56:44] Speaker 2: is like honoring something joyful about their life and not
[56:48] Speaker 2: just dates and like list of familial roles they held.
[56:53] Speaker 3: Well, first of all, just say I heard almost nothing
[56:55] Speaker 3: you were saying. Because I was thinking about being turned
[56:57] Speaker 3: into a bath ball. I think that should be an option,
[57:01] Speaker 3: a death option, being turned into a bath bomb. If
[57:03] Speaker 3: that's not already, what is it called bed? No bath
[57:08] Speaker 3: and body works? That should be their new thing.
[57:12] Speaker 2: Oh that's brilliant.
[57:13] Speaker 3: Bath and body works. Ash bombs, ash bath bombs, brilliant.
[57:17] Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's okay. I'm so sorry I was distracted.
[57:20] Speaker 2: I mean, you were having a once in a generation idea.
[57:24] Speaker 3: But I will say I did hear what you said.
[57:26] Speaker 3: I think that well, first of all, you're wrong. They
[57:30] Speaker 3: are a gift. I think every gravestone should come with
[57:33] Speaker 3: a recipe. This is the this is the only place
[57:35] Speaker 3: where you should be able to get recipes. We should
[57:37] Speaker 3: take them all off of the Internet, and people should
[57:40] Speaker 3: be scouring graveyards for people's favorite recipes.
[57:43] Speaker 2: Now that I agree with, because the experience of looking
[57:46] Speaker 2: up a recipe online is a healthscape.
[57:48] Speaker 3: Oh it's a tough one. It's I mean, the you know,
[57:51] Speaker 3: I feel bad for the recipe authors because it's obviously
[57:54] Speaker 3: a nightmare and that's how they get trying to make
[57:56] Speaker 3: money on whatever.
[57:57] Speaker 2: But it's horrific that you have to read a posts
[58:00] Speaker 2: and they'll like they'll like soft dole out the information
[58:03] Speaker 2: where they tell you like some of the ingredients, and
[58:05] Speaker 2: then you're like, wait, wait, wait, no, where's the list
[58:06] Speaker 2: of the ingredients? And you're like scrolling, scrolling, scrolling millions
[58:10] Speaker 2: of pop ups. And I didn't think about this about
[58:12] Speaker 2: taking recipes from graves you're not connected to, right, and
[58:16] Speaker 2: then that would make a cemetery much more pleasant. You
[58:18] Speaker 2: could just like walk among the gravestones and say, oh
[58:21] Speaker 2: my gosh, I've never thought to do that with Ricotta.
[58:23] Speaker 3: All right, and maybe the grave the graveyard has a
[58:27] Speaker 3: grocery store attached trull, so we can do all our
[58:30] Speaker 3: shopping and recipe gathering with the dead.
[58:32] Speaker 2: That's nice.
[58:33] Speaker 3: So you were wrong, but that's fine. You made some
[58:35] Speaker 3: good points you thanks, all right. This final one is
[58:38] Speaker 3: from Peter Gift. You're a curse reacting to texts or
[58:41] Speaker 3: shared posts with a non red heart, for example, orange, green,
[58:46] Speaker 3: et cetera.
[58:48] Speaker 2: I'm even caught up in the semantics that I believe
[58:50] Speaker 2: the original one was more like pink and you actually
[58:53] Speaker 2: have to scroll to get there to get the true red.
[58:56] Speaker 2: Oh interesting, Well, we had our starter pack of thumbs up,
[58:59] Speaker 2: thumbs down question and mark heart. It's more of a
[59:02] Speaker 2: pink heart. You have to scroll to get a red heart, right,
[59:06] Speaker 2: But I don't think that's what Peter meant, and I
[59:08] Speaker 2: don't purposely difficult. Yeah, I don't need a drag Peter
[59:11] Speaker 2: about like shades of pinks and reds.
[59:12] Speaker 3: Well, he's not a tech head like you are.
[59:14] Speaker 2: Yeah me, no one can ever accuse me of being
[59:18] Speaker 2: a luddite. I think it's okay. Just different color hearts, yes,
[59:26] Speaker 2: not like oh I'm searching for like a ding bell,
[59:29] Speaker 2: or like a lightning bolt, or a snowman.
[59:32] Speaker 3: Right, or a weird little silhouette of a man. That
[59:34] Speaker 3: means that's so ominous.
[59:36] Speaker 2: I'm gonna say a curse. Why because you have to
[59:40] Speaker 2: do work for that, and that's such a lateral move
[59:42] Speaker 2: and I have nothing connected to green heart, Purple heart.
[59:46] Speaker 2: Purple heart makes me think of someone who got injured
[59:48] Speaker 2: in war. Orange heart, m.
[59:52] Speaker 3: H, what does orange heart that one? Really?
[59:55] Speaker 2: Holland nothing? You're you're excited that the Holland national soccer
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: team is doing well.
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: That comes up all the time for me.
[1:00:03] Speaker 2: I'm always talking about that.
[1:00:06] Speaker 3: I have several different threads about the Holland team. You're correct,
[1:00:10] Speaker 3: this is a curse. I uh, we should have stopped
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: at the one color at heart, red or pink, whatever
[1:00:15] Speaker 3: it was, the one Valentine's the heart.
[1:00:17] Speaker 2: Yes.
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: I can't continue to read into whatever your your reaction
[1:00:21] Speaker 3: is to my text. I just need to know that
[1:00:23] Speaker 3: you wanted to stop talking to me, Yes, that you
[1:00:25] Speaker 3: were done.
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: With the conversation, you're putting a period on it.
[1:00:28] Speaker 3: Yes, thank you. I will not be responding to this
[1:00:30] Speaker 3: any firm.
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: I used to send my my manager and I when
[1:00:33] Speaker 2: we text, when I was sort of done with the conversation,
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: or when I was like cool, I got it. I
[1:00:38] Speaker 2: would just send back, not react, but would send just
[1:00:41] Speaker 2: the sunglasses emoji.
[1:00:42] Speaker 3: Oh that's a good one, you know, like.
[1:00:43] Speaker 2: Cool cool, gotcha. We were big, cool, cool kids to
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: each other. You know, he's also so cowboy, so it's
[1:00:48] Speaker 2: a lot of.
[1:00:48] Speaker 3: Like cool cool, cool, surfs.
[1:00:50] Speaker 2: Up, calban guy, hang loose, toasts the nose, and then one.
[1:00:55] Speaker 2: And I always thought it was a charming way in
[1:00:56] Speaker 2: the conversation. And then one time he was like, oh,
[1:00:58] Speaker 2: so you're done talking to me.
[1:01:01] Speaker 3: Well, yes, but it's a nice way to answer, I know.
[1:01:03] Speaker 2: I was like, sorry, it's a good exit point. I mean,
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: weel olled. It was appropriate ribbing. But I was like, oh,
[1:01:08] Speaker 2: so you did see what I was doing.
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: Yes, but when you see what somebody's doing, just doing it.
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, let it be whisper words.
[1:01:18] Speaker 3: Okay, we got two out of three. Not too terrible.
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: All right. This is the final segment of the podcast.
[1:01:24] Speaker 3: This is I said no emails people write into I
[1:01:26] Speaker 3: said no gifts at gmail dot com begging for answers.
[1:01:29] Speaker 3: Can help me answer a question I love to all Right,
[1:01:31] Speaker 3: this is hybridg or and guest. I am a Day
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: one listener and love the podcast. Well, this is a
[1:01:35] Speaker 3: huge red flag for us. This person's a problem person.
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: I'm writing with a bit of a unique gift situation.
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: I'm hoping you can help me with. My husband had
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: a stroke last weekend at the age of thirty five.
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: Oh gosh.
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: She's doing really well and is recovering at home now,
[1:01:50] Speaker 3: but it was the most terrifying experience of our lives.
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: The future remains somewhat unknown in terms of what of
[1:01:55] Speaker 3: when he'll be able to return to work and what
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: kinds of activity he'll be able to do. Now that
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: I've thoroughly killed the vibe you have, you've ruined the episode.
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: Here's my question. With Christmas coming up? Okay, and so
[1:02:07] Speaker 3: now this is tough tough all.
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: Around for Ida really timestamped this, but I'm sorry you
[1:02:14] Speaker 2: will now get this advice after.
[1:02:15] Speaker 3: Christmas is always coming up. Ultimately true, start the Mariah Carey.
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: Now just get into the spirit of the season in January. Absolutely,
[1:02:24] Speaker 3: I'm okay. So with Christmas coming up, I'm struggling to
[1:02:27] Speaker 3: think of gift ideas. Everything I would normally get him
[1:02:29] Speaker 3: doesn't feel meaningful enough to express how thankful I am
[1:02:32] Speaker 3: for him, how much I love him, and how much
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: he means to me and our son. I'm almost limited
[1:02:37] Speaker 3: by the I'm also limited by the unknown future. He
[1:02:40] Speaker 3: loves his craft beer, but can't drink right now. We
[1:02:44] Speaker 3: love to travel together, but he can't travel yet, et cetera.
[1:02:47] Speaker 3: He enjoys music, video games, and his job as a
[1:02:49] Speaker 3: behavior specialist in in middle school. God bless this person.
[1:02:53] Speaker 3: He's the best person I know. I appreciate any ideas
[1:02:56] Speaker 3: you can give me to make this Christmas special Alex.
[1:02:59] Speaker 3: And then there's a ps. It says, I know this
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: is a serious topic, a serious and not very funny topic,
[1:03:04] Speaker 3: but my husband and I both have a sense of humor,
[1:03:06] Speaker 3: so feel free to joke about it. Well, I was listen.
[1:03:09] Speaker 3: I was gonna do whatever I wanted, no matter what.
[1:03:11] Speaker 2: That's very sweet, she says.
[1:03:12] Speaker 3: I almost brought his The Strokes T shirt to the
[1:03:15] Speaker 3: hospital for him to go home in and then he
[1:03:17] Speaker 3: was disappointed, disappointed that I didn't. I would. I would say,
[1:03:20] Speaker 3: you have to have multiple strokes if you're gonna wear
[1:03:22] Speaker 3: that T shirt. That's true, So that would have been
[1:03:24] Speaker 3: a bad thing.
[1:03:24] Speaker 2: Unless she taped over the final less Yes, exactly the stroke,
[1:03:29] Speaker 2: the stroke, But I love that they're aligned. You gotta laugh.
[1:03:32] Speaker 3: You got what else can you do?
[1:03:34] Speaker 2: Alex? Oh Man? That is tough to you.
[1:03:36] Speaker 3: And what a tough year for both of them. Because
[1:03:39] Speaker 3: now the Christmas email has been read in January.
[1:03:41] Speaker 2: Yes, but hopefully like his birthday, this will still be
[1:03:45] Speaker 2: applying always. There's always another occasion.
[1:03:48] Speaker 3: It will always have had the stroke. Yes, So it's
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: totally fine. And by now, you know, maybe he's up
[1:03:56] Speaker 3: and running.
[1:03:57] Speaker 2: Okay, So I mean without wow trying to show appreciation.
[1:04:04] Speaker 2: What's the what's Alex's husband's name?
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: Uh?
[1:04:08] Speaker 3: We never found out. That was the one piece of
[1:04:10] Speaker 3: information that from Alex's life that we didn't.
[1:04:13] Speaker 2: Get, Okay, So without knowing Tony Tony, you know, I
[1:04:20] Speaker 2: would need to know Tony's love language, I feel because
[1:04:23] Speaker 2: I think, you know, appreciation when you really want to
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: show like meaning a lot of times it's like doing
[1:04:30] Speaker 2: the thing that they have been putting off for themselves,
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: you know, like changing the dome light in your car
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: or like that's a big one.
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:04:39] Speaker 2: One time my husband replaced the ram in my computer.
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: Oh wow, I was like cool and he was like
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: it probably saved you like two years on getting a
[1:04:46] Speaker 2: new computer. And those don't always get the showiest reaction
[1:04:50] Speaker 2: for me because that doesn't mean as much to me.
[1:04:53] Speaker 2: But I think it's like thinking of things that make
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: life easier is always I used for your partner, or like,
[1:05:01] Speaker 2: oh I I you mentioned obviously that's always the best.
[1:05:04] Speaker 2: Is someone like mentioned it if we're laughing? I mean,
[1:05:07] Speaker 2: is there a cameo we can get from the Strokes where.
[1:05:10] Speaker 3: They say in Casablancas cameo, you know, have him say
[1:05:13] Speaker 3: or do you've had a stroke?
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: You know, maybe a little song right, but like they
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: can play every time things are getting kind of bleak,
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: they can like maybe we should actually dance out to
[1:05:21] Speaker 2: your bespoke song that's like, hey, it's okay, We're so
[1:05:25] Speaker 2: glad that you're here, don't be afraid.
[1:05:28] Speaker 3: You know, that's a good one. We're wondering, are any
[1:05:30] Speaker 3: of the Strokes on cameo that feels like.
[1:05:35] Speaker 2: We can always like reach out to their record label
[1:05:37] Speaker 2: and their manager and say this is a very specific ask,
[1:05:39] Speaker 2: but I think it would really bring a smile to
[1:05:41] Speaker 2: his face. And it's something that you could replay and
[1:05:44] Speaker 2: laugh about, like it's a little evergreen.
[1:05:47] Speaker 3: In their Instagram comments and just reply over and over,
[1:05:50] Speaker 3: comment after comment. Please write myself, Please, please husband a song. Yeah,
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: he had a stroke, Write him a song. Yes, as
[1:05:56] Speaker 3: many times as you want.
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: Okay, then a completely different direction, but just so that
[1:06:00] Speaker 2: I would enjoy if I was in a place of
[1:06:01] Speaker 2: like needing to take things a little slower and be
[1:06:03] Speaker 2: at home. But I'm sensitive that I hope there's if
[1:06:07] Speaker 2: there aren't any dexterity fall out issues from the stroke.
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: But I love a really complicated lego set.
[1:06:13] Speaker 3: Oh I've never been able to complete a lego set.
[1:06:17] Speaker 3: My older brother would always complete them for me.
[1:06:19] Speaker 2: Have you ventured as an adult? No?
[1:06:21] Speaker 3: I don't think I have the skills. I don't have
[1:06:23] Speaker 3: the spatial skills.
[1:06:24] Speaker 2: No, you do. And they're so peaceful and they are
[1:06:28] Speaker 2: brilliantly organized. Where here's the best thing about them as
[1:06:31] Speaker 2: an adult because I like a puzzle too, But then
[1:06:33] Speaker 2: it's like sitting out. You know, a big lego set
[1:06:36] Speaker 2: is divided by bags, so I like, I recently did
[1:06:40] Speaker 2: like a floral arrangement and it was tense bags, right,
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: and so I could like keep the box away and
[1:06:45] Speaker 2: be like, oh, you know what I could do right now?
[1:06:47] Speaker 2: One bag.
[1:06:48] Speaker 3: Oh that's a very contained and.
[1:06:52] Speaker 2: It's very peaceful and zen and fun. And they have
[1:06:55] Speaker 2: like a cool guitar. There's a typewriter. Also, my mom
[1:06:59] Speaker 2: had some health stuff last year, and when I was
[1:07:01] Speaker 2: like sitting at home with her, I did this really
[1:07:03] Speaker 2: elaborate Nintendo set with a like a companion TV with Mario,
[1:07:08] Speaker 2: and it was really fun to like take my brain
[1:07:09] Speaker 2: off of it. So you could do it together. I
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: don't know how your son is probably probably too young
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: to help with a complicated set, but it is kind
[1:07:16] Speaker 2: of a fun. You can do it slowly. You could
[1:07:19] Speaker 2: do a really hard one, like you know, the taj
[1:07:22] Speaker 2: Mahal or something.
[1:07:23] Speaker 3: Put on some music in the background.
[1:07:25] Speaker 2: Chill out, We'll just keep strokes.
[1:07:29] Speaker 3: Get the strokes on vinyl and blast it while you're
[1:07:32] Speaker 3: doing some legos.
[1:07:33] Speaker 2: Okay. And then also I've seen and I keep thinking
[1:07:35] Speaker 2: that I would like these. There's a there's like these
[1:07:38] Speaker 2: drumsticks that are just like they you just like drum
[1:07:41] Speaker 2: in the air and does it make noise? It makes noise,
[1:07:44] Speaker 2: and like I think you can have your headphones on too,
[1:07:46] Speaker 2: And I feel like that's a good like that's a
[1:07:49] Speaker 2: good like physical thing that if you if you feel
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: mad about, like why this happened to me? This is
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: this is dumb that this happened to me, you can
[1:07:56] Speaker 2: give yourself a little like rage it out a little bit.
[1:07:59] Speaker 3: You know, I want those drums. Sounds delightful. Okay, Shoot,
[1:08:02] Speaker 3: I love to air drum. Yeah, I love to air guitar. Wow.
[1:08:06] Speaker 3: Well then I mean I feel like, look, did we
[1:08:08] Speaker 3: miss Christmas? Did we ruin their year?
[1:08:11] Speaker 2: Yes?
[1:08:11] Speaker 3: Absolutely?
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: Have we potentially helped their next year a full year,
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: which is way better than way better. I mean right
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: now we only have we have like fifty sixteen days left.
[1:08:21] Speaker 3: Right if this had been a Christmas one, they would
[1:08:22] Speaker 3: have had like two weeks. Yeah, and then who knows
[1:08:25] Speaker 3: what twenty six is for them?
[1:08:27] Speaker 2: And a lot of those big lego sets are on
[1:08:28] Speaker 2: back order.
[1:08:29] Speaker 3: Oh they are crostillar toilets. The teens, Yes, the teens
[1:08:33] Speaker 3: are loving and me and me, the teens especially are
[1:08:38] Speaker 3: getting the floral design ones.
[1:08:40] Speaker 2: Yeah you know which one? I did a few years
[1:08:42] Speaker 2: ago is amazing. The home alone house.
[1:08:44] Speaker 3: Oh wow, they've really gotten into some crossovers.
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's beautiful.
[1:08:50] Speaker 3: Does that have little traps?
[1:08:51] Speaker 2: Oh yeah?
[1:08:52] Speaker 3: Does that have an iron slam somebody in the face? Incredible?
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: It has a small lego that is Kevin's plan the
[1:08:59] Speaker 2: battle in.
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: Wow. Does that have a Joe Pesci Yeah?
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: Wow, including the van that they drive in. It's a
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: very special set.
[1:09:08] Speaker 3: Well, we answered the question perfectly, I think, so we
[1:09:10] Speaker 3: can't get any more complaints.
[1:09:11] Speaker 2: Still right back in, Maybe get that set and you
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: can work on it slowly through the whole year and
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: that then it'll take you up to next Christmas.
[1:09:17] Speaker 3: Oh interesting, and then you can surprise him with some
[1:09:19] Speaker 3: other gift. Right back in.
[1:09:20] Speaker 2: Uh huh.
[1:09:22] Speaker 3: Actually again, don't right back in, but think about what
[1:09:24] Speaker 3: we told you. Yeah, yes, we answered the question perfectly.
[1:09:28] Speaker 3: I have this go absolutely gorgeous lime green citrus squeezer,
[1:09:33] Speaker 3: and I've found who I am. The question fish, I'm
[1:09:36] Speaker 3: very passionate and indifferent.
[1:09:40] Speaker 2: The fish was like, could could he be indifferent? And
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: then it's like, actually.
[1:09:44] Speaker 3: No, this guy's an absolute freak. Uh huh, So what
[1:09:49] Speaker 3: do we know. I've had such a lovely time with you.
[1:09:52] Speaker 2: Thank you as well well.
[1:09:54] Speaker 3: Listener, the podcast is over. You know I have nothing
