[0:08] Speaker 1: Well, I invited you here, thought I made myself perfectly clear.
[0:17] Speaker 1: But you're a guest to my home. You gotta come
[0:22] Speaker 1: to me empty, And I said, no, guests, your own
[0:28] Speaker 1: presences presents enough. I already had too much stuff, So
[0:35] Speaker 1: how do you dare.
[0:36] Speaker 2: To surbey me?
[0:48] Speaker 3: Welcome to, I said, no gifts. I'm Richard Wineker. We're
[0:54] Speaker 3: in the backyard. I believe the garbage trucks are done
[0:59] Speaker 3: for the day. It is garbage day. Believe they've passed
[1:01] Speaker 3: through the neighborhood, so you won't be getting a little
[1:05] Speaker 3: taste of that today. Unfortunately, I'm having an incredible morning,
[1:09] Speaker 3: incredible morning of emailing. What else have I done? I
[1:14] Speaker 3: put on some Christmas socks and thought I was gonna
[1:16] Speaker 3: be able to get away with it, went out in public,
[1:18] Speaker 3: realized I wasn't getting away with it. People could tell.
[1:22] Speaker 3: So I've switched and now I'm at total ease, total
[1:27] Speaker 3: complete ease, and I'm so excited about our guest. Let's
[1:31] Speaker 3: get into the podcast. It's Ashley Ray.
[1:33] Speaker 2: Hello, I'm so happy to be here.
[1:36] Speaker 3: I'm so happy to have you. Welcome to, I said,
[1:37] Speaker 3: no gift.
[1:38] Speaker 2: I am I mean, I just want to say I
[1:41] Speaker 2: am a fan. Oh, you're my favorite. I absolutely love
[1:44] Speaker 2: that you have any man doing her theme. Oh, I've
[1:47] Speaker 2: loved her since I was like a middle schooler, and
[1:49] Speaker 2: it's Lesbian Visibility Week. I feel like that is just
[1:52] Speaker 2: so tied to my identity.
[1:53] Speaker 3: So incredible, Yeah, I mean she is the Queen's Yeah,
[1:57] Speaker 3: the ultimate ultimate person.
[1:59] Speaker 2: I think, just such star amongst the Lilith Fair crowd.
[2:02] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course, of course. Yeah. I feel unbelievably lucky. Yeah.
[2:07] Speaker 3: But it's because she's incredible and the idea of like
[2:10] Speaker 3: I've probably said this on this podcast before she was
[2:13] Speaker 3: able to come up with the song and probably no
[2:15] Speaker 3: time at all. That would have taken me literally a lifetime,
[2:19] Speaker 3: yeah years, How do you write a song?
[2:21] Speaker 2: And she's just like, I'm ammy man, she's brilliant. Do
[2:25] Speaker 2: you play any instruments? I do. I play guitar actually
[2:29] Speaker 2: since I was twelve and I played in jazz band
[2:31] Speaker 2: in high school and then in college. I was like,
[2:34] Speaker 2: I'm not taking this seriously. I'm not trying to be
[2:36] Speaker 2: a musician, right, right, but you can fool around. Yeah yeah,
[2:40] Speaker 2: I can you know, read music, play some tab.
[2:43] Speaker 3: That's I mean more than a lot of professional musicians.
[2:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, I could get by in a jam band. I
[2:47] Speaker 2: would say, like if someone was like, we need Like
[2:50] Speaker 2: if someone if I was sitting here, someone ran into
[2:52] Speaker 2: your backyard, we need a guitarist, I could jump up
[2:55] Speaker 2: and volunteer.
[2:56] Speaker 3: I feel like anyone can get away in a jam band.
[2:59] Speaker 2: I think. I mean no, I mean that is very true.
[3:02] Speaker 2: That is yes.
[3:04] Speaker 3: Actually I'm going to get the jam band audience after me,
[3:06] Speaker 3: and it's a passionate crew.
[3:08] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[3:08] Speaker 3: I look, I'm ignorant of jam bands. I'm just going
[3:12] Speaker 3: off the little I know. When I'm at a concert
[3:14] Speaker 3: and we're jamming, I'm I'm losing patience exactly.
[3:18] Speaker 2: I'm an impatient man. I'm a little like, Okay, you're
[3:20] Speaker 2: playing around. I get it, we get it. Let's wrap
[3:23] Speaker 2: it up. Let's get back to this song that I know.
[3:26] Speaker 2: But again, jam band fans, I love you, we support. Yes,
[3:30] Speaker 2: everyone has their thing, and you obviously have a they've
[3:34] Speaker 2: got bad fish, they're so patient. Yeah, they're nice people. Yes,
[3:38] Speaker 2: I've been to a jam bands. They're nice, lovely. It's
[3:40] Speaker 2: like a little community. It's glad for them. Have you
[3:43] Speaker 2: been to a fish concert? I have, Actually I have
[3:46] Speaker 2: seen Fish eleven times.
[3:50] Speaker 3: That's not am I'm just shitting all over jam bands
[3:55] Speaker 3: and you've been to a total of a thousand hours.
[3:58] Speaker 2: I truly had a very like hippie phase. I feel
[4:03] Speaker 2: like this was two thousand and two thousand and four.
[4:06] Speaker 2: I feel like that was in the the era, like
[4:08] Speaker 2: you know, that was a theme of the day, Like
[4:10] Speaker 2: you opened deely As and it was girls and like
[4:12] Speaker 2: peasant skirts. It was like that vibe. And I had
[4:15] Speaker 2: like Janish Joplin posters on my locker. Wow, And I
[4:18] Speaker 2: was very tied. I pants tight, I shirts everywhere and
[4:22] Speaker 2: went to see fish a lot.
[4:25] Speaker 3: What how long is the typical fish concert?
[4:27] Speaker 2: Oh? I mean if you're getting there for the pregame,
[4:32] Speaker 2: So it starts in the parking lot before the show,
[4:34] Speaker 2: and that's for the dead fish like there usually there's
[4:37] Speaker 2: gonna be like an alley in the parking lot of
[4:40] Speaker 2: like you know, neighborhood jam bands and and your local gestures,
[4:45] Speaker 2: and you know people who are just like swallowing swords
[4:48] Speaker 2: that are on fire and they're just like hanging in
[4:50] Speaker 2: the parking lot. That's a show into itself. That's probably
[4:52] Speaker 2: gonna start it like noon. Then you hang out there
[4:55] Speaker 2: all day. The actual show. They're they're gonna open doors
[4:58] Speaker 2: like six thirty. You're it's like four or five hours,
[5:01] Speaker 2: I feel like, and there's usually not an opener. If
[5:03] Speaker 2: there is, it's like they all just kind of jam together.
[5:07] Speaker 3: Oh wow, fifteen minutes into a concert that starts on time,
[5:11] Speaker 3: I'm ready to go home.
[5:12] Speaker 2: So for this experience to me is and there's people
[5:15] Speaker 2: who don't, who are enjoying the parking lot and they
[5:17] Speaker 2: don't even go inside to the show. Interesting a friend, Yeah, yeah,
[5:20] Speaker 2: I have friends who would be like, oh, we're going
[5:21] Speaker 2: to the fish show today, and we'd get there and
[5:24] Speaker 2: they'd go, oh, no, we don't have tickets. We're here
[5:26] Speaker 2: for the parking lot. Yeah.
[5:27] Speaker 3: We want to be hot in a parking lot.
[5:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, we want to hear it kind of far away,
[5:31] Speaker 2: but just be you know, in the vibe. Okay.
[5:34] Speaker 3: And so when the concert begins, the nature of and
[5:38] Speaker 3: I apologize to truly the planet right now. But I'm
[5:42] Speaker 3: curious about like they start playing. Are you recognizing music
[5:45] Speaker 3: they're playing?
[5:47] Speaker 2: Usually yes, yeah, like you know you they they have tracks.
[5:50] Speaker 3: They draw you in with something familiar.
[5:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like, oh, yes, this is farmhouse. Here we
[5:55] Speaker 2: go I farmhouse I'm a fish, fantastic fish. Yes, yes,
[5:59] Speaker 2: that's one of their bigger and you're like, oh, here
[6:01] Speaker 2: we are my song, and then like two minutes in,
[6:05] Speaker 2: something changes, like all of a sudden, there's like a
[6:08] Speaker 2: triangle that shouldn't be there, or a bass is being
[6:11] Speaker 2: slowed down, and you're like, oh no, here we go.
[6:15] Speaker 2: And then it turns into some kind of live jam
[6:17] Speaker 2: band remix with like a new twenty minute solo added,
[6:21] Speaker 2: and you're like, well, it was fun when it started
[6:25] Speaker 2: and here we go.
[6:26] Speaker 3: That's very interesting to me. I mean, maybe I need
[6:28] Speaker 3: to give it a shot.
[6:30] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I say everyone should give it
[6:33] Speaker 2: a shot. Get there early, go to the hippie alley,
[6:36] Speaker 2: find some acid molly whatever, you know, something probably the candy,
[6:40] Speaker 2: and yeah, dive right in.
[6:42] Speaker 3: I mean, I will say, when I go to a concert,
[6:45] Speaker 3: I appreciate when the musician or band mixes things up
[6:48] Speaker 3: a bit. I don't like to go there and just
[6:50] Speaker 3: hear what I've heard recorded. Yeah why am I doing that?
[6:53] Speaker 2: Yeah? I like something a little fresh. I think Beyonce
[6:55] Speaker 2: is really good at that. She'll like throw in a
[6:57] Speaker 2: little remix, like mix it up. But yeah, I mean,
[7:00] Speaker 2: unless it's.
[7:01] Speaker 3: Like a musical, then that could be interesting musical theater.
[7:06] Speaker 2: You go and they're jamming, and they're just a little
[7:08] Speaker 2: jam You go see a chorus line and they're just like,
[7:10] Speaker 2: we mixed it up this time.
[7:11] Speaker 3: The show is now seven hours long and totally incomprehensible.
[7:16] Speaker 2: I might be into that.
[7:17] Speaker 3: I know, maybe that maybe we found what'll sun an idea.
[7:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, we just say Broadway.
[7:22] Speaker 3: They don't have to put a casino in anymore. No,
[7:24] Speaker 3: have you heard about the casino they may put in.
[7:26] Speaker 3: I've heard a little bit. I've heard angry rumblings people
[7:30] Speaker 3: just the thing, saying it spits in the face of
[7:32] Speaker 3: all that Broadway stands for. And I'm just like, I
[7:36] Speaker 3: don't know, Like, what what about the eminem Store, right.
[7:40] Speaker 2: The eminem Store, the like the Disney restaurant and hard
[7:43] Speaker 2: Rock Cafe. We're all honoring this period of Broadway. Yeah,
[7:47] Speaker 2: the giant foot locker.
[7:48] Speaker 3: Uh yeah, I mean I hate, I don't like a casino,
[7:51] Speaker 3: but I also am like, do whatever you.
[7:54] Speaker 2: It's it's a part of New York that I think
[7:56] Speaker 2: is beyond having a culture.
[7:58] Speaker 3: That part it's what's I'm sacred about any part of
[8:01] Speaker 3: Times Square.
[8:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's like, I don't know, it'll be
[8:04] Speaker 2: a casino next to like the latest Legally Blonde musical
[8:08] Speaker 2: spin off. I don't know.
[8:10] Speaker 3: Jam band version. That's important, that is very important to it,
[8:15] Speaker 3: do you know what I mean? Actually, speaking of Times Square,
[8:17] Speaker 3: this is kind of Time Square adjacent. Everybody, it seems like,
[8:21] Speaker 3: is standing in the way. At this point, I go
[8:23] Speaker 3: out in public, yeah, I cannot go out without someone
[8:26] Speaker 3: being in the way, in the way.
[8:27] Speaker 2: People are in the way, people are in the way.
[8:29] Speaker 2: Is this an after pandemic thing? People don't know where
[8:32] Speaker 2: to be anymore, They don't know how to stand or
[8:35] Speaker 2: where to be around people. I've noticed to this in
[8:37] Speaker 2: grocery stores, just walking like you're walking and people will
[8:40] Speaker 2: just stop and be really so in front of you,
[8:42] Speaker 2: and it's like they don't have that awareness anymore.
[8:45] Speaker 3: They just feel like they're in the living room at
[8:47] Speaker 3: all time.
[8:47] Speaker 2: At all times. And in grocery stores, I've had people
[8:50] Speaker 2: who just will get too close and it's like what
[8:51] Speaker 2: are we doing here? And then or they'll just be
[8:54] Speaker 2: in the way. Like fully, a woman left a cart
[8:56] Speaker 2: right in front of me and just walked away, and
[8:58] Speaker 2: I was like, hey, man, you left your car here.
[9:01] Speaker 3: This makes me feel so good because I've been spiraling
[9:03] Speaker 3: in the last couple of weeks of like maybe it's me,
[9:06] Speaker 3: maybe I'm losing pace.
[9:07] Speaker 2: It's not us.
[9:09] Speaker 3: Couldn't be us, simply, I mean, what was the last
[9:12] Speaker 3: thing I did wrong? You have to go back.
[9:15] Speaker 2: But I just I went to the bike path by
[9:18] Speaker 2: my house, and it's very clear where the fast people
[9:22] Speaker 2: should go and the slow people. There's markings of where
[9:25] Speaker 2: a bike should be, and everyone was in the wrong place.
[9:28] Speaker 2: I just felt like everyone. I was just like, what
[9:30] Speaker 2: are you doing? There's girls falling on roller skates like
[9:33] Speaker 2: in the bike lane, and there's like girls running and
[9:36] Speaker 2: taking like tiktoks where people are trying to walk, and
[9:39] Speaker 2: it's just it's all a mess. It's uh.
[9:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, I had to bring it up, and we should
[9:43] Speaker 3: just say to the listener, pause right now, yeah, and
[9:46] Speaker 3: look around at your surroundings.
[9:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[9:47] Speaker 3: Look to your left, to your right, to your back.
[9:50] Speaker 3: Are you in the way?
[9:50] Speaker 2: Are you in the way?
[9:51] Speaker 3: Get out of them? By the way, move Are you
[9:54] Speaker 3: standing in front of the soda fountain? Get out out
[9:56] Speaker 3: of the way.
[9:57] Speaker 2: I went.
[9:58] Speaker 3: I was at home state the taco place recently they
[10:00] Speaker 3: have a water jug or whatever. There's a man just
[10:04] Speaker 3: standing there taking glass after glass of water.
[10:07] Speaker 2: Oh I hate this.
[10:08] Speaker 3: I'm just standing there whiting. He finally turns around and says, Oh,
[10:11] Speaker 3: I'm just really thirsty.
[10:13] Speaker 2: What do you think? What do you think the rest
[10:15] Speaker 2: of us are doing here? It's infuriating. I had a
[10:18] Speaker 2: similar experience at Salazar. It's, you know, mostly like a
[10:22] Speaker 2: walk up bar experience, some tables. I'm in the bar
[10:26] Speaker 2: area and there was a group, like a party group
[10:29] Speaker 2: that was waiting to be seated. They all were like, well,
[10:31] Speaker 2: wait at the bar, we'll order drinks. And there's an
[10:33] Speaker 2: empty standing table where they could convert the but they
[10:36] Speaker 2: stay right in front of the bar at the one
[10:39] Speaker 2: area where like the bartenders can get to you, and
[10:42] Speaker 2: they don't move, and everyone is coming up like are
[10:44] Speaker 2: they in line? Are we? And I'm just saying like
[10:46] Speaker 2: they're not. They ordered, There is no lie. They're just
[10:49] Speaker 2: just disrespecting the natural order of how this should work.
[10:52] Speaker 3: And then when you ask to get in your the
[10:54] Speaker 3: root and then I'm rude.
[10:55] Speaker 2: Yeah I'm rude because I was giving them looks like.
[10:57] Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, it's too much for me. It's absolutely
[11:02] Speaker 3: too much. Thank you for validating my feeling.
[11:05] Speaker 2: I feel it, and I feel like I've been experiencing
[11:07] Speaker 2: it a lot. My car got stolen like a month
[11:09] Speaker 2: ago at this point, so I have been walking a
[11:12] Speaker 2: lot and people get in your way when you walk,
[11:14] Speaker 2: they get in the way a lot.
[11:16] Speaker 3: People get it in your way in the car.
[11:18] Speaker 2: True. True, but let's I mean you're talking.
[11:20] Speaker 3: You bring up your car being stolen, So we have
[11:22] Speaker 3: to just jump into this. Yeah, to walk me through
[11:25] Speaker 3: what happened. I mean, I had COVID, so I was
[11:29] Speaker 3: in the house. Yeah, I'm I'm like in quarantine. At
[11:34] Speaker 3: the same time, I have a drop like a garage
[11:37] Speaker 3: parking spot that has a door that closes. Sure, but
[11:40] Speaker 3: it was broken like it was when we had all
[11:41] Speaker 3: that rain, so like the censor had been like flooded
[11:44] Speaker 3: and it was stuck up. So I was just like whatever,
[11:47] Speaker 3: my landlord says, they're gonna fix it. I'm not gonna
[11:49] Speaker 3: worry about this. I'm quarantining. I'm not leaving the house anyway.
[11:53] Speaker 3: Like day four of my quarantine, I go to take
[11:56] Speaker 3: my trash out and my car just isn't in the
[11:58] Speaker 3: karate and I'm just like, maybe I parked on the
[12:04] Speaker 3: street and I just don't remember. And I'm looking and
[12:06] Speaker 3: I'm like, it's not on the street. And I text
[12:08] Speaker 3: my neighbors and I'm like, hey, so, when's like the
[12:10] Speaker 3: last time you saw my car in the garage And
[12:12] Speaker 3: they're like, I don't know, maybe Friday.
[12:14] Speaker 2: At this point, it's Monday, and I hadn't left the house,
[12:17] Speaker 2: so I had no way of knowing when it was
[12:19] Speaker 2: like taken or when it was gone. I call the
[12:22] Speaker 2: police and they're just like, that's not helpful. You provided
[12:26] Speaker 2: zero information. What You're just like, oh, you parked it
[12:30] Speaker 2: in your garage Wednesday and you noticed it was missing Monday,
[12:36] Speaker 2: Like you're very responsible car owner, ma'am. And I'm just
[12:38] Speaker 2: like no, I'm explaining like I had.
[12:40] Speaker 3: COVID, but you could have been on vacation.
[12:42] Speaker 2: People cars, you know. And the police truly did not care.
[12:50] Speaker 2: All they really let me know was that if they
[12:52] Speaker 2: did find it, I did have parking tickets that I
[12:54] Speaker 2: would have to pay to get the car. Oh god what.
[12:58] Speaker 2: They pulled the record up and they were like, mam,
[12:59] Speaker 2: you have like three parking tickets in West Hollywood. Because
[13:02] Speaker 2: I don't recognize that, I don't I choose not to
[13:05] Speaker 2: recognize you shouldn't. Yeah, no, no, West Hollywood, I don't
[13:08] Speaker 2: know what. You're just a scam.
[13:10] Speaker 3: I mean, there are way too many parking rules in LA.
[13:14] Speaker 2: Forget it, I forget it. Just passing through. Yeah, okay,
[13:17] Speaker 2: what are you gonna do? Well, now, I know if
[13:19] Speaker 2: they your car gets stolen, they will eventually be like,
[13:21] Speaker 2: you have got to pay those.
[13:23] Speaker 3: So we're sure it wasn't towed.
[13:25] Speaker 2: Yes, they checked like all the toe yard things and
[13:28] Speaker 2: like check with the police. And then two weeks I
[13:32] Speaker 2: think later, they found like my back bumper and some
[13:36] Speaker 2: of the stuff that was inside my car, just like
[13:38] Speaker 2: on the street. And they said, because of all the
[13:40] Speaker 2: rain we were getting that people were stealing cars just
[13:43] Speaker 2: to like sleep in them. Oh interesting, Yeah, because it's
[13:45] Speaker 2: you know, better than a tent in the rain. So
[13:48] Speaker 2: they were like, it might turn up, you might get
[13:50] Speaker 2: lucky and someone's just like been camping in it for
[13:52] Speaker 2: a bit. And I was like, okay, I'll hold out
[13:53] Speaker 2: hope like that. Okay, you know, I honestly don't mind that.
[13:57] Speaker 3: But this is the thing. You don't want to find
[13:58] Speaker 3: your car after someone's been care You just want the
[14:00] Speaker 3: insurance to say for the story. I just want the
[14:02] Speaker 3: insurance to get the car back after somebody's probably used
[14:05] Speaker 3: it as a bathroom.
[14:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, and a shot. You know, then you have to
[14:08] Speaker 2: drive around at that point, just keep it to you.
[14:10] Speaker 2: It's yours, it's your house, it's your house, it's yours.
[14:13] Speaker 2: It's fine. My insurance will take care of it. But
[14:16] Speaker 2: I have been using just a mix of like uber
[14:19] Speaker 2: and like you know, get around rental cars walking. I
[14:24] Speaker 2: don't understand LA without a car. Honestly, it can be
[14:27] Speaker 2: a rough time. I do.
[14:28] Speaker 3: I will walk, but I feel like people are worried
[14:31] Speaker 3: about me. When I'm walking long distances. I feel like
[14:34] Speaker 3: cars are passing me, like that's somebody who's up to something. Yeah,
[14:37] Speaker 3: because nobody's ever.
[14:38] Speaker 2: Doing Yeah, no one's ever walking. And I feel like
[14:40] Speaker 2: they're like, if you're not running, like you're exercising, what
[14:43] Speaker 2: are you doing? What's your scam?
[14:44] Speaker 3: And I simply won't be running. Yeah, so if you
[14:47] Speaker 3: if I can't saunter, I won't be doing anything, not
[14:50] Speaker 3: at all. So does your is your insurance covering the car?
[14:53] Speaker 2: Yeah? Oh so it's that's all taken care of, but
[14:55] Speaker 2: it's slow. They had to wait for the police to
[14:58] Speaker 2: be like reinvestigated it's just it's gone, which I think
[15:02] Speaker 2: was just the cops being like, we looked around in
[15:04] Speaker 2: our garage and we didn't see a yellow hond to
[15:07] Speaker 2: fit there. So I love my I love that car,
[15:11] Speaker 2: and it's so tiny it doesn't get in the way.
[15:13] Speaker 3: I know. It's such a great car's perfect.
[15:16] Speaker 2: Love it. Yeah, if they're listening, please sponsor me give
[15:18] Speaker 2: me a new one for free. Maybe, But the cops
[15:22] Speaker 2: were just kind of like, yeah, we did our best,
[15:24] Speaker 2: didn't find it. So then my insurance was like, okay,
[15:26] Speaker 2: we'll send you a check. But now I'm just kind
[15:28] Speaker 2: of like test driving lots of cars to really see
[15:31] Speaker 2: if I want to get something different, just get another
[15:34] Speaker 2: hond to fit, you know. I'm taking my time with it.
[15:36] Speaker 2: Are you feeling?
[15:37] Speaker 3: What's that you been your experience at car dealerships, because that,
[15:40] Speaker 3: of course is also changed because of the car shortage.
[15:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, my friends were all like, oh, Ashley, you can
[15:47] Speaker 2: just do it online now. You much as well. They
[15:49] Speaker 2: were like, you just go online and you order a
[15:51] Speaker 2: car and they bring it to your house, and that's
[15:53] Speaker 2: how we do things.
[15:53] Speaker 3: Now because well, if you go to the car dealership,
[15:56] Speaker 3: these salespeople have been emboldened a way.
[15:58] Speaker 2: That's I feel like the last time I went I
[16:01] Speaker 2: mean the car that I had, I did get out
[16:03] Speaker 2: a dealership because they lured me in with some sort
[16:06] Speaker 2: of like Memorial Day saale and they were like at
[16:10] Speaker 2: the time, I was working at Google, and they were
[16:12] Speaker 2: like Google employees, get a discount if you come in.
[16:15] Speaker 2: And I did all that, and then by the time
[16:16] Speaker 2: I was leaving, they were like, well, actually you have
[16:18] Speaker 2: to pay this like tire fee blah blah blah. And
[16:20] Speaker 2: I was like, with all of this, I saved no money.
[16:23] Speaker 2: The tire fee took it up. What's the tirefee. I
[16:25] Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know. They did have to drive
[16:28] Speaker 2: it from Massachusetts or from Michigan because I really wanted
[16:31] Speaker 2: the yellow I was specific about that. I was a
[16:33] Speaker 2: little picky. I can't get picky with car colors. I
[16:37] Speaker 2: don't want to I can be picky with car colors.
[16:39] Speaker 2: I was truly like, this is my you know, I
[16:42] Speaker 2: saved up like first real money car job. And I
[16:45] Speaker 2: was like, I'm gonna be picky. I'm gonna get something nice.
[16:48] Speaker 2: And then it got stolen. So don't do that, listeners,
[16:50] Speaker 2: don't do that. Don't follow your dreams. When it comes
[16:52] Speaker 2: to her about any just don't care. I wish I'd
[16:54] Speaker 2: gotten like a beaten up two thousand and three whatever,
[16:57] Speaker 2: and just.
[16:58] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, how long had you had it for?
[17:00] Speaker 2: I'd had it for four years, which and it was
[17:04] Speaker 2: just like a few payments from like being paid off,
[17:06] Speaker 2: truly being like mine and the bumper still had the
[17:10] Speaker 2: license plate show. Yes it's still. So they were like,
[17:13] Speaker 2: and they had thrown out some of my stuff, did
[17:16] Speaker 2: not care about. They actually did find this bag which
[17:20] Speaker 2: I used to bring your gift in, which says hard
[17:23] Speaker 2: for Bernard the Santa Claus. Yes, from the Santa Claus. Yes,
[17:28] Speaker 2: that is so. They the police recovered this from the
[17:31] Speaker 2: vehicle and made sure I got it back.
[17:33] Speaker 3: That's a hard thing to get back.
[17:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, they were like, they were like, they
[17:37] Speaker 2: had your bumper this. There were some like just like
[17:41] Speaker 2: papers that I had in my car, I like scripts
[17:44] Speaker 2: from like sides from like callbacks and stuff that were
[17:47] Speaker 2: just like scattered around, I guess. And then they found
[17:53] Speaker 2: one of like a pair of high heel shoes that
[17:55] Speaker 2: I loved my car because.
[17:57] Speaker 3: This person had no interest in going out for auditions
[18:00] Speaker 3: or they.
[18:01] Speaker 2: Were like, oh, I could make a buck selling the
[18:04] Speaker 2: latest Damon Wayne's script somewhere. It's a hotscript. It's a
[18:08] Speaker 2: hot script. People, just the wifelines.
[18:13] Speaker 3: Do you know what I was going to ask, Well,
[18:15] Speaker 3: this is what I'm curious about. Why are we not
[18:17] Speaker 3: microchipping cars like we microchip pets?
[18:19] Speaker 2: Right? Are we microchipping cars? And so? Shouldn't someone know
[18:23] Speaker 2: where it is? I feel like every time Google is
[18:26] Speaker 2: like your cars parked here, I feel why doesn't Why
[18:29] Speaker 2: doesn't Handa be like it here? Is it a fear
[18:31] Speaker 2: of surveillance? I guess so? And I do think. At
[18:34] Speaker 2: one point in my insurance they were like, you can
[18:36] Speaker 2: opt into this thing where we can always see where
[18:39] Speaker 2: you are, how fast you're driving, if you're breaking too fast,
[18:42] Speaker 2: and if you're a good driver, we'll give you extra
[18:44] Speaker 2: money off. And I was like absolutely not.
[18:47] Speaker 3: No.
[18:48] Speaker 2: I also didn't know that meant if my car got stolen,
[18:50] Speaker 2: they could do nothing to locate it. Wow.
[18:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, the microchip, I guess would I be on board
[18:57] Speaker 3: with it? It's hard to tell. I mean, do you
[19:00] Speaker 3: get a personal microchip?
[19:01] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[19:02] Speaker 3: Where do we get personal micro.
[19:03] Speaker 2: Chip that's basically a cell phone? Right?
[19:05] Speaker 3: Or like a tile?
[19:06] Speaker 2: Is that what those things are called, like a little tile. Yeah,
[19:09] Speaker 2: I wonder if that works in a car. Yeah, I
[19:11] Speaker 2: should have one in my car. I know they work
[19:13] Speaker 2: with my luggage, so I yeah, that's true. Yeah, okay,
[19:17] Speaker 2: I'm going to look into that. You know. I I'm adapting.
[19:20] Speaker 2: I'm living this La no car life and.
[19:24] Speaker 3: It's and you're in West Hollywood, so I'm in Silver Lake.
[19:28] Speaker 2: That's walkable. Yeah, like they're walkable. Silver Lake is okay.
[19:31] Speaker 2: But I'm a comic, so you know I go to
[19:34] Speaker 2: like Hollywood, Santa Monica, yeah, for shows. And that's when
[19:37] Speaker 2: it's just like, oh, this is impossible.
[19:40] Speaker 3: You know I've heard about the little micro bus or whatever.
[19:43] Speaker 3: If you heard about this, it's like a dollar a ride.
[19:45] Speaker 3: That's like now somewhere between a bus and an uber.
[19:47] Speaker 2: I know, nothing.
[19:48] Speaker 3: Seem very disinterested.
[19:51] Speaker 2: I just like when my car got stolen, a friend
[19:54] Speaker 2: was like, well the bus, and I was just like,
[19:56] Speaker 2: what are you saying to me? Not to I just
[20:00] Speaker 2: I've never ridden. I'm gonna be that person. I've never
[20:03] Speaker 2: written public transportation. And I did take the train one
[20:10] Speaker 2: time from like not far from Santa Monica to Santa Monica,
[20:14] Speaker 2: just because a friend was like, you know, you can
[20:16] Speaker 2: take the train, and I was like, oh, the train.
[20:20] Speaker 3: The Train's a different story. In La, it is a
[20:22] Speaker 3: little like it really does feel like you're underground in
[20:26] Speaker 3: a way that's not good. Like whereas like the New
[20:29] Speaker 3: York subway or whatever, it's like I can get out
[20:32] Speaker 3: of this situation. In La, it's like I'm in a dungeon.
[20:35] Speaker 2: I'm in a yeah and too deep and I know
[20:38] Speaker 2: this isn't this isn't safe.
[20:40] Speaker 3: Earth, right, and no one knows I'm here, Yeah.
[20:42] Speaker 2: And it's I don't like it, so I know, I
[20:46] Speaker 2: know that's bad. And I'm not a real Los Angelino
[20:49] Speaker 2: until I get on a bus, I know.
[20:51] Speaker 3: But get on the micro bus or whatever it's called
[20:54] Speaker 3: micro rides.
[20:55] Speaker 2: Had a car when I moved here. It just never
[20:57] Speaker 2: came up. But it just.
[21:00] Speaker 3: Well, a best of luck to you with this attitude.
[21:02] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm it's for seeing me to grow and
[21:06] Speaker 2: change in new ways and I'm embracing it.
[21:08] Speaker 3: I'm happy for your journey and you need to thank
[21:11] Speaker 3: that car thief.
[21:11] Speaker 2: Yeah. Ultimately, ultimately, I'm happy I'm becoming more in tune
[21:16] Speaker 2: with my neighborhood and my community.
[21:19] Speaker 3: Well, Ashley, I mean you already brought it up, so
[21:21] Speaker 3: we might as well get into it. Here. The podcast
[21:24] Speaker 3: is called I said no gifts. Yes I was, you know,
[21:27] Speaker 3: I started the podcast on a very high note. I
[21:29] Speaker 3: sent a bunch of emails this morning. I made the
[21:32] Speaker 3: decision to get out of a pair of socks that
[21:34] Speaker 3: I wasn't feeling great about.
[21:35] Speaker 2: And ners socks now amazing. Thank you.
[21:37] Speaker 3: Oh yes, this is actually a decent sock. Thank you mom.
[21:41] Speaker 3: I think she bought these marshals, so good for these socks.
[21:45] Speaker 3: But you know, I was feeling great, feeling incredible. The
[21:49] Speaker 3: coffee was hitting in a nice way, and then.
[21:52] Speaker 2: You show up. I'm showing a gift, a gift.
[21:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's now in a like a blue, gorgeous blue bag.
[21:59] Speaker 3: Yeahs where it came from?
[22:00] Speaker 2: Which yeah? Yeah, I mean, I will say as I
[22:03] Speaker 2: brought the bag that the cops returned to me, which
[22:06] Speaker 2: is what I had it in. And you see, I
[22:08] Speaker 2: my family, we don't do gifts. I've grown up in
[22:11] Speaker 2: a culture of like gifts are for children, and once
[22:15] Speaker 2: you hit eighteen, you don't get gifts. I can't remember
[22:18] Speaker 2: the last time like I really received a gift.
[22:21] Speaker 3: From anyone or just family wise, like.
[22:23] Speaker 2: Family and my friends because they know that, I think
[22:26] Speaker 2: they'll they know that I'm more of like an experienced person.
[22:29] Speaker 2: They'll be like, oh, we took Ashley to dinner. We
[22:31] Speaker 2: got her you know, we went on this trip, versus
[22:33] Speaker 2: like we got her a gift. So I don't know,
[22:38] Speaker 2: and I truly try, but I do get a lot
[22:41] Speaker 2: of like media gifts because I have like a podcast
[22:44] Speaker 2: about TV's so all, you know, around Christmas, it'll be like, oh,
[22:49] Speaker 2: TLC had me in their thoughts and they sent me
[22:52] Speaker 2: a robe and some notebooks, you know. But part of
[22:56] Speaker 2: it was that my mom, like by the time I
[22:58] Speaker 2: hit nineteen, she was just like, I don't know, here's
[23:00] Speaker 2: socks in some sheets and it wasn't even wrapped. It
[23:03] Speaker 2: would just be like, oh, you know yeah, And so
[23:06] Speaker 2: to me it was like the gift, it's all a
[23:09] Speaker 2: lot of pomp and circumstance, Like we know, this is
[23:11] Speaker 2: just a cultural agreement. You know, let's put away the charade.
[23:16] Speaker 2: Let's like lower the curtain. You want the thing, here's
[23:19] Speaker 2: the thing. I go to a housewarming, Am I gonna
[23:22] Speaker 2: wrap the bottle of wine? No? You know that I'm
[23:24] Speaker 2: bringing this because it's what we're supposed to do. So
[23:27] Speaker 2: I just threw it in a bag. Which is how
[23:30] Speaker 2: all my friends have ever gotten gifts for me? Is
[23:32] Speaker 2: they just like she throws it in a bag, and
[23:34] Speaker 2: then she's gonna be like, give me the bag bag.
[23:37] Speaker 3: I think that's a healthy attitude.
[23:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, So to me, it's I you know, it's what
[23:41] Speaker 2: matters is how useful it is, right and the item,
[23:45] Speaker 2: you know, the packaging that you know, that's.
[23:48] Speaker 3: The cover that look beyond that. So gifts are for children,
[23:52] Speaker 3: and they're all for show. They're useless, they're pointless. This
[23:56] Speaker 3: podcast is for children. It's useless.
[23:58] Speaker 2: It's pointless. You say, no gift. See See, it's like
[24:01] Speaker 2: you would like to just up like let's just be
[24:04] Speaker 2: real about it. Let's be real, let's be real. But
[24:07] Speaker 2: it's I know what you're doing, but.
[24:08] Speaker 3: No one, no one's not gonna catch me.
[24:11] Speaker 2: See it's a test, it's a test of the social order.
[24:15] Speaker 2: Will you still bring the gift? Even if it will ever? See?
[24:20] Speaker 2: Should I open it here on the podcast? I think
[24:22] Speaker 2: you should. I think there are multiple items, there's multiple
[24:43] Speaker 2: items I'm going to reach. Should they come out in
[24:46] Speaker 2: any specific world? No? No, Because I felt like I
[24:49] Speaker 2: as a as a TV person. You know, that's my
[24:52] Speaker 2: big passion. I wanted to gift you with an experience, wonderful, yes,
[24:57] Speaker 2: of creative experience.
[25:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm looking forward to this. I mean, the first
[25:04] Speaker 3: thing I can actually tell I can rarely tell. I'm
[25:06] Speaker 3: holding a baseball cap.
[25:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, holding it out. I've got the bill in my hand. Yes.
[25:10] Speaker 2: Oh what does this say?
[25:12] Speaker 3: It's a it's a khaki baseball cap that says, hey, baby,
[25:15] Speaker 3: what's your moon sign?
[25:16] Speaker 2: What's your moon sign? What is happening with this hat?
[25:19] Speaker 2: I believe that hat came from a TV show, a
[25:23] Speaker 2: reality show where they tried to match people based on
[25:26] Speaker 2: their zodiac. It lasted a beautiful one season, fourteen minutes,
[25:32] Speaker 2: a beautiful just fourteen minutes. But not before they could
[25:35] Speaker 2: send me this beautiful cap and immediate.
[25:37] Speaker 3: Kid, wow, this is I'm gonna just put it on now.
[25:40] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[25:40] Speaker 2: And I think it helps you feel that creativity, that flow.
[25:43] Speaker 2: It helps to open up the mind. Yeah.
[25:45] Speaker 3: I ran on the back it says struck. Is that
[25:47] Speaker 3: what it was called?
[25:48] Speaker 2: Maybe? Perhaps? And how much of the show did you see? Uh?
[25:52] Speaker 2: You know they did they give me access to pilots? Yeah?
[25:57] Speaker 2: Did I watch it?
[25:58] Speaker 3: It crossed your mind.
[25:59] Speaker 2: It did. I've heard great things, which is a.
[26:02] Speaker 3: Lot more than other shows. I mean, some shows have
[26:04] Speaker 3: never even crossed my mind.
[26:06] Speaker 2: I don't even know they exist. They've never sent me
[26:08] Speaker 2: a hat.
[26:09] Speaker 3: And you can at least kind of explain the basic
[26:11] Speaker 3: premise of this show, yes, which is more than I
[26:14] Speaker 3: can do with shows.
[26:15] Speaker 2: I watched exactly something with zodiac and signs and dating.
[26:21] Speaker 3: Are you a big zodiac person? Are you into the
[26:24] Speaker 3: I am.
[26:24] Speaker 2: I think that was one of the reasons they like
[26:26] Speaker 2: plugged me with the stunt so because they were like, oh,
[26:28] Speaker 2: she talks about that on you know, her socials, So
[26:32] Speaker 2: I do know, like Mercury's in retrograde right now? I
[26:35] Speaker 2: know my natal chart. Yeah, I always have a general
[26:38] Speaker 2: sense of where the planets are. What's your son? You know,
[26:40] Speaker 2: I'm a Sagittarius, Scorpio, rising aries moon Libra here.
[26:44] Speaker 3: I can't tell you anything else. A friend gave me
[26:47] Speaker 3: as a gift at one point, a whole birth chart reading.
[26:52] Speaker 2: You know, Libra is all about the pomp and circumstances
[26:54] Speaker 2: are all about the outer beauty. Now I see, Now,
[26:57] Speaker 2: I see. I should have wrapped the gifts if I
[27:00] Speaker 2: knew I was If I knew I was with a libra,
[27:01] Speaker 2: would have made it look pretty.
[27:03] Speaker 3: See, wow, we need to start sending that that information
[27:06] Speaker 3: out on this that should be in the emails. First thing.
[27:08] Speaker 3: Bridger's a Libra.
[27:10] Speaker 2: I mean then I would have made it gorgeous. Okay,
[27:13] Speaker 2: that like okay.
[27:15] Speaker 3: Wow, okay, so you are into the whole thing. Do
[27:18] Speaker 3: you get tarot done?
[27:19] Speaker 2: I do? Yeah. I can read cards, so usually like
[27:24] Speaker 2: I'll pull a daily card for myself, just something like
[27:27] Speaker 2: meditate on. But like like once every three months, I
[27:31] Speaker 2: go to a professional. There's a lovely girl on Melrose
[27:34] Speaker 2: that I go see. She has a wonderful little store,
[27:37] Speaker 2: and you know, she tells me what's going on. She
[27:39] Speaker 2: helps me get refocused, realigned, tells me what candle I
[27:43] Speaker 2: should give her money for, and it's great.
[27:47] Speaker 3: I love the ASIMR experience of it. I do feel
[27:50] Speaker 3: very cradled when someone's doing my tarot.
[27:53] Speaker 2: It's never hurt me, so it's like, yeah, pay like
[27:55] Speaker 2: you know, not yet, but I pay the eighty done.
[27:58] Speaker 2: I'm just like I feel better like it's hurting you.
[28:00] Speaker 2: Every three months well, I mean she uses three different decks.
[28:04] Speaker 2: It's very like, you know, interesting, Yeah, okay, full experience.
[28:09] Speaker 2: Did you pull a card today? I did? I did.
[28:12] Speaker 2: What did it have to say? Today's card? It was
[28:16] Speaker 2: the High Priestess? Okay, which I which is always means
[28:19] Speaker 2: a lot to because I actually have that one tattooed.
[28:21] Speaker 2: So anytime I get that card, I'm like, oh wow, goodness,
[28:24] Speaker 2: that's what's what's what's the world trying to tell me?
[28:27] Speaker 2: You know? What does?
[28:27] Speaker 3: What is the value of the high priests?
[28:29] Speaker 2: High priestess usually means listen to your intuition, your inner self, like,
[28:33] Speaker 2: trust your gut, what is it telling you? And then
[28:37] Speaker 2: do that? And yeah, I mean I don't really know
[28:40] Speaker 2: how it applies today today, not yes, yes, but it
[28:44] Speaker 2: could come up. Something's gonna happen and I'm gonna go
[28:46] Speaker 2: what what should I do?
[28:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, You're going to be like what should I eat
[28:49] Speaker 3: for dinner?
[28:49] Speaker 2: Oh?
[28:50] Speaker 3: I feel like that? Yeah, and then you'll go for that.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Follow the gut. It's just the in just knowing to.
[28:54] Speaker 3: You'll be able to make the decision.
[28:56] Speaker 2: Making the decision. Oh maybe I'll.
[28:58] Speaker 3: Try that today, try to make a decision without thinking
[29:01] Speaker 3: for three hours.
[29:02] Speaker 2: Yeah. And a lot of that intuition is how I
[29:04] Speaker 2: put your gift together to.
[29:05] Speaker 3: Okay, well, following my cuts, I've got my cap on.
[29:10] Speaker 3: I'm gonna dip back into the bag.
[29:13] Speaker 2: Let's see here.
[29:15] Speaker 3: Okay, this was like, it's two no items.
[29:18] Speaker 2: These are these are two notebooks. As I said, I
[29:20] Speaker 2: wanted to inspire a creative journey. I know, as creatives
[29:24] Speaker 2: we need, you know, the the ability to express ourselves.
[29:28] Speaker 2: A notebook. It can be so good for that. So
[29:30] Speaker 2: I've given you a notebook from Made for Love, the
[29:33] Speaker 2: HBO show kind of a dark comedy as far as
[29:38] Speaker 2: I it's a dark comedy that was canceled.
[29:41] Speaker 3: It's been canceled. Yeah, after two seasons. I remember they're
[29:46] Speaker 3: being too.
[29:46] Speaker 2: Good, wonderful on HBO Max and they they sent me
[29:50] Speaker 2: this beautiful media kit that had this notebook that just
[29:54] Speaker 2: makes you think and is open and just blank for
[29:59] Speaker 2: your design an expression.
[30:01] Speaker 3: This is confidential all over it just Made for Love.
[30:04] Speaker 3: I could write my love thoughts, your love thoughts, your
[30:08] Speaker 3: it's it's you know. And then the other notebook is
[30:11] Speaker 3: from the company Zell. And I received this at a
[30:16] Speaker 3: talk that Mindy Kaaling did for Zell.
[30:20] Speaker 2: Big Zell. She is she is, But I wanted to
[30:22] Speaker 2: give you that girl boss energy, so that you know,
[30:25] Speaker 2: when I have open mind, I'm ready to budget. And
[30:29] Speaker 2: so that's what I Yeah, you know.
[30:30] Speaker 3: I could use this for budgeting for budget, yes, yes,
[30:33] Speaker 3: do you know what? I've heard a few people recently
[30:35] Speaker 3: refer to this company as zelly and I don't have
[30:38] Speaker 3: the heart.
[30:38] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
[30:40] Speaker 3: No, no company in twenty twenty three is calling it
[30:44] Speaker 3: is going to rhyme with jelly.
[30:47] Speaker 2: LLL. What do they call it? The magazine Ellie?
[30:50] Speaker 3: Like, oh, interesting, that should be my follow up question. Yeah,
[30:52] Speaker 3: do you read Ellie? Yes, that's but then that's how
[30:55] Speaker 3: you get called. What's the difference, Like, what are the
[30:58] Speaker 3: differences between zell and Venmo?
[31:00] Speaker 2: Are you bell? I mean Venmo I prefer Venmo to
[31:04] Speaker 2: me is like the Starbucks of the you know, Cayman
[31:08] Speaker 2: app world. If cash app is like the dollar tree
[31:13] Speaker 2: or dunkin Donuts, you know, like yeah, oh, cash app
[31:17] Speaker 2: is for the people who are like I don't have
[31:18] Speaker 2: a bank account, but I have.
[31:20] Speaker 3: A cash Interesting, Okay, that makes sense.
[31:22] Speaker 2: It's like very android userka Venmo.
[31:25] Speaker 3: The Android user. I'm I mean, I'm on your side.
[31:28] Speaker 3: I'm on the cash app user side.
[31:32] Speaker 2: I have ASP and I and I love it and
[31:34] Speaker 2: I use it. But let's be real, it's a run
[31:37] Speaker 2: to taco bell. Yeah, you know, but venmos flashy, it's classy.
[31:40] Speaker 2: It's in all the apps like already, like you can
[31:43] Speaker 2: pay with Venmo. It's right there. Everybody's got it. Everybody's
[31:46] Speaker 2: got it, you know. But and when someone doesn't, you're
[31:48] Speaker 2: kind of like, what's that? What happened there? Why don't
[31:51] Speaker 2: you have it? What? Okay? And then Zell to me
[31:54] Speaker 2: feels very boring. She's very like parental. It's like connected
[31:58] Speaker 2: to your bank account. You get into your bank account
[32:01] Speaker 2: in order to sell people, and it requires like an
[32:04] Speaker 2: email or phone number, which isn't very fun, right, So
[32:07] Speaker 2: I only use it. I feel like it's the one
[32:09] Speaker 2: you use for like moms.
[32:10] Speaker 3: It's a very new construction condo. Yeah, it's for.
[32:13] Speaker 2: The people like the boomers who are like I want
[32:16] Speaker 2: to make sure that the money goes to my you
[32:18] Speaker 2: know address, and they want it linked to the bank
[32:20] Speaker 2: account instead of just like in the Venmo money.
[32:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes sense. I feel like Venmo ultimately is
[32:25] Speaker 3: the most satisfying. Yeah, are you doing a And I
[32:30] Speaker 3: I hope that the answer to this is the one
[32:32] Speaker 3: I want to hear. Are you doing a public transaction
[32:35] Speaker 3: on Venmo? No, okay, that's what I wanted to hear.
[32:38] Speaker 3: Why does anyone in.
[32:40] Speaker 2: Anyone do that? Why have you not changed the setting?
[32:42] Speaker 2: Why do you not? I always make sure to check
[32:45] Speaker 2: any transaction is it private? Is it just? Why would
[32:49] Speaker 2: I need anyone to see anything I'm doing on Venmo?
[32:51] Speaker 2: I don't understand it, even paying my rent? I'm like,
[32:54] Speaker 2: that's disgusting. Why would I want people to see this.
[32:57] Speaker 3: I'm not doing like nefarious things that I hidden. I'm
[33:00] Speaker 3: just like, why does anyone need this information?
[33:02] Speaker 2: Ever? And it always surprises me with like people I
[33:05] Speaker 2: don't want to see, like whose numbers I forgot are
[33:07] Speaker 2: in my phone? And then I'm opening in it and
[33:09] Speaker 2: it's like, oh, a man you dated for a month
[33:11] Speaker 2: three months ago, like you know, paid for comedy tickets
[33:15] Speaker 2: at the store tonight, And it's like, why do I
[33:16] Speaker 2: need to know that?
[33:17] Speaker 3: It's almost entirely people you never want to hear from
[33:19] Speaker 3: again never.
[33:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's just like, oh, great, I'm glad that
[33:22] Speaker 2: he forced his friend to split the bill for popcorn
[33:25] Speaker 2: at a movie. He was always so cheap.
[33:27] Speaker 3: Like yes, yeah, I think I mean standing in people's
[33:31] Speaker 3: way and being out there on the public Venmo circuit.
[33:36] Speaker 3: Both of those things. People need to correct their behavior immediately, immediately,
[33:39] Speaker 3: get with that in any way. It's embarrassing.
[33:41] Speaker 2: It's embarrassing, it's it's gross.
[33:44] Speaker 3: Shouldn't be an option.
[33:45] Speaker 2: It shouldn't. I don't know why Venmo still thinks people
[33:48] Speaker 2: want this right. Let me ask you. Are you on Spotify?
[33:51] Speaker 2: I am?
[33:52] Speaker 3: Is your player public?
[33:55] Speaker 2: It is? But I did not realize it was until
[33:58] Speaker 2: actually somewhat recently. I don't know if you're familiar with
[34:01] Speaker 2: Daisy Jones in the sixth.
[34:02] Speaker 3: Oh frienda I mean, yeah, I'd like to hear a
[34:05] Speaker 3: friend had some interesting things to say about the show.
[34:08] Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, it is absolutely just like wild fan fiction.
[34:12] Speaker 2: It's like some adult was like, I want to write
[34:14] Speaker 2: a show about Fleetwood Mac, but that's illegal. I can't
[34:18] Speaker 2: get the rights to that, so I'll do something so close.
[34:21] Speaker 2: And then Amazon Prime was like, we love that idea.
[34:24] Speaker 2: Here's eighty million dollars. Go crazy, And I at first
[34:28] Speaker 2: was just like, this is silly. It's the slowest show.
[34:31] Speaker 2: And by episode four I was like, this is amazing.
[34:33] Speaker 2: It's an everything I've ever wanted in television. I want
[34:36] Speaker 2: a million episodes My Life is Empty without Daisy Jones.
[34:39] Speaker 2: In the six I've been listening to It's about a
[34:43] Speaker 2: band that is based on Fleetwood Mac. And then in
[34:45] Speaker 2: the real world they did release the album full album,
[34:48] Speaker 2: the full album Aurora that the band creates in the show.
[34:52] Speaker 2: It was released in the real world and I have
[34:55] Speaker 2: been listening to it non stop for date, like I
[34:58] Speaker 2: am obsessed with it.
[35:00] Speaker 3: Is it like fleet Fleetwood Mac cosplays like basically like.
[35:04] Speaker 2: And critics were like, this just sounds like B side
[35:07] Speaker 2: Fleetwood Mac songs and I was like, yeah, those are good,
[35:11] Speaker 2: like like Fleetwood Mac was a good band and they
[35:13] Speaker 2: were able to replicate a band.
[35:15] Speaker 3: There's no good the level of quality is b side
[35:18] Speaker 3: Fleetwood Mac. It maybe Ai generated Fleetwood Mac.
[35:23] Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like, I know a few Daisy Jones
[35:28] Speaker 2: heads are listening because we roll deep and I'm just
[35:30] Speaker 2: gonna say that, like Aurora to like to like let
[35:35] Speaker 2: Me Down Easy, the Beatles didn't even have a run
[35:38] Speaker 2: like that, Okay, I'm I straight up tell people they
[35:41] Speaker 2: were a real band now, because I'd rather I'd rather
[35:45] Speaker 2: gaslight the world than myself. Like I've been talking to
[35:47] Speaker 2: men and I'm just like Oh you said you were
[35:49] Speaker 2: into classic rock, but you don't know Daisy Jones in
[35:51] Speaker 2: the six they were huge. They released one mega album
[35:54] Speaker 2: in nineteen seventy nine and were never heard from again.
[35:57] Speaker 3: Wow, who was actually writing the music? I know they
[36:02] Speaker 3: did an it's like an answer.
[36:05] Speaker 2: Yes, a songwriter named Blake Mills. But it's okay. Phoebe
[36:09] Speaker 2: Bridgers actually did like write for like I guess helped
[36:12] Speaker 2: him write a couple of songs. But credit it's like
[36:15] Speaker 2: a weird war around it. But yeah, she's involved in someone.
[36:18] Speaker 2: She was involved and did some.
[36:19] Speaker 3: Stuffy the studio one day.
[36:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, she and like I think a Mumford or son,
[36:23] Speaker 2: like a Mumford son I'm running. I mean, like they
[36:28] Speaker 2: just help to reach the Fleetwood Mac Viress is straight
[36:33] Speaker 2: up just like Fleetwood Mac, like AI mimicking it. Like
[36:38] Speaker 2: you listen to it and you're like, oh, this is
[36:40] Speaker 2: their version of the Chain, and it's just like fine,
[36:43] Speaker 2: this is great. I love it.
[36:44] Speaker 3: I mean, okay, I'm gonna give it a shot. But
[36:46] Speaker 3: then why am I not just listening to the chain.
[36:48] Speaker 2: So eventually you get to that point you listen to
[36:51] Speaker 2: the album so much that you're just like, you know,
[36:52] Speaker 2: what's good just listening to actual Fleetwood Mac Like, wow,
[36:56] Speaker 2: Aurora is so great, but you know what also if
[36:58] Speaker 2: I just listened to rumors.
[37:00] Speaker 3: Okay, so you've been listening to it a ton on
[37:03] Speaker 3: Spotify and friends reaching out and so yeah, that.
[37:05] Speaker 2: Is how friends were like, Ashley, do you know we
[37:07] Speaker 2: can see that you're listening to the album from Daisy
[37:11] Speaker 2: Jones in the six Like we thought it was a
[37:13] Speaker 2: bit because I kept talking about it, like on Twitter,
[37:16] Speaker 2: I like fully changed my name to like Ashley Ray Honeycomb,
[37:19] Speaker 2: which is a little Daisy Jones reference. It got you, yeah,
[37:23] Speaker 2: and there's a little reference. And my friends like, we
[37:25] Speaker 2: thought you were just like joking, But we open Spotify
[37:29] Speaker 2: and it's like every three hour it's like Ashley Ray's
[37:33] Speaker 2: listening to Aurora. And I was just like I need
[37:35] Speaker 2: to change that. I need to turn this setting off
[37:38] Speaker 2: because I guess that's embarrassing because they're not a real
[37:42] Speaker 2: band and it's an album for children.
[37:46] Speaker 3: I mean, I can't I can't be the judge of
[37:48] Speaker 3: any of these things yet. I mean I tend to
[37:51] Speaker 3: lean that way, but it shouldn't be embarrassing. You shouldn't
[37:54] Speaker 3: be embarrassed of what but I've I've hidden what I'm
[37:56] Speaker 3: listening to because I don't ever want to think about
[37:58] Speaker 3: what if somebody sees that.
[38:00] Speaker 2: And now I realize I should have hidden it. I mean,
[38:02] Speaker 2: I'm not ashamed. I'm a proud fan of Daisy Jones
[38:04] Speaker 2: in the six and that album, but it is embarrassing.
[38:08] Speaker 3: It's the musical where it's just like people could be
[38:11] Speaker 3: seeing at any time.
[38:12] Speaker 2: And I see like other people I can't see some
[38:15] Speaker 2: friends who still share their and they're all like listening
[38:17] Speaker 2: to like cool stuff I've never heard of before that
[38:19] Speaker 2: I'm like, wow, like that's Ice Spice. She's cool, she
[38:24] Speaker 2: is cool, she's very cool. But then I'm just like
[38:26] Speaker 2: what they're supposed to see me listening to like Stephen
[38:28] Speaker 2: Sondheim and Aurora.
[38:30] Speaker 3: Like, but they may that might all be calculated on
[38:33] Speaker 3: their part. They may be in their little prison where
[38:34] Speaker 3: they're like I've got to pick the best.
[38:36] Speaker 2: The best and like show people. I'm but I'm with it.
[38:38] Speaker 2: Their life is a living hell exactly, and I opt out.
[38:41] Speaker 3: And you're in there with Daisy Jones and the six
[38:44] Speaker 3: band name. I mean, that's not even close to Fleetwood
[38:47] Speaker 3: mac Well.
[38:49] Speaker 2: I mean, that is a whole part of that is
[38:52] Speaker 2: a whole part of the story is they have another name.
[38:54] Speaker 3: There's like, interesting, what's the other name.
[38:57] Speaker 2: It's like they're the guy's last name, kind of how
[38:59] Speaker 2: like Fleetwood comb their names or something or something. Yeah,
[39:03] Speaker 2: and so their original name is like the Something Brothers. Okay,
[39:07] Speaker 2: well but and then they're like, well, we should change
[39:09] Speaker 2: to the six even though there's only five of them.
[39:12] Speaker 2: It's interesting, I'm smelling the pilot now.
[39:15] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[39:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, well see, you would think that's the pilot. But
[39:18] Speaker 2: the show moves so slowly that it's not until like
[39:21] Speaker 2: episode five that they're like, we should call ourselves the six.
[39:25] Speaker 2: And it's not until like episode eight that they're like,
[39:27] Speaker 2: and hey, guys, we want you to meet Daisy Jones.
[39:31] Speaker 2: It is the slowest show in the world. Wow.
[39:34] Speaker 3: I hope they get a second season. Otherwise you are
[39:36] Speaker 3: going to be crushed.
[39:37] Speaker 2: Oh I'm crushed already. It's like the when the finale aired,
[39:40] Speaker 2: I haven't been the same person.
[39:41] Speaker 3: But how do you sustain a show? I mean people
[39:43] Speaker 3: are gonna expect a full other album. Yeah, with another
[39:46] Speaker 3: series please.
[39:48] Speaker 2: It is based on a book, so it is like, well,
[39:50] Speaker 2: we know what happens, but the book and the show are.
[39:54] Speaker 2: It's a fake documentary. And what people love about the
[39:58] Speaker 2: show is that it's set in like the seventies. You
[40:01] Speaker 2: see them talking about the seventies, but it's set in
[40:03] Speaker 2: like the nineties. Oh, in them in the future. But
[40:06] Speaker 2: they chose to do this thing where they don't age anyone.
[40:09] Speaker 2: Oh interesting, everyone just looks the same. But then they
[40:12] Speaker 2: kind of put some gray in their hair. Boy, and
[40:16] Speaker 2: it's like, was this a budget issue aging though? No?
[40:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, otherwise they're in like grotesque grotesque, and.
[40:24] Speaker 2: So they just chose to be like, you know what,
[40:25] Speaker 2: let's just make some of their hair a little longer.
[40:28] Speaker 2: And you're looking at them in the past and it's
[40:30] Speaker 2: supposed to be like they're eighteen, but it's the same
[40:33] Speaker 2: actress playing like seventeen year old Daisy Jones and modern
[40:36] Speaker 2: day Daisy Jones. And it's amazing and it's beautiful and
[40:39] Speaker 2: I love it.
[40:40] Speaker 3: So it just completely disorienting. Yeah, oh wow, well, uh,
[40:44] Speaker 3: Daisy Jones in the sixth.
[40:46] Speaker 2: You know you could actually you should put that on
[40:47] Speaker 2: while you use these notebooks to just like write about
[40:50] Speaker 2: your day, just like put on some Aurora and just
[40:53] Speaker 2: is there a song I should start with Oh my gosh,
[40:56] Speaker 2: look at us now is probably my favorite. Look at
[40:59] Speaker 2: us now, Honeycomb Aurora. The you know, titular track is
[41:03] Speaker 2: also very good. Let me down easy, uh regret me?
[41:10] Speaker 2: That one? Is that?
[41:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a cutting track.
[41:14] Speaker 2: Oh it is? It is? You know how there's a
[41:15] Speaker 2: story in Fleetwood Mac about how he like wrote these
[41:17] Speaker 2: songs that are basically like so they mimic that exactly
[41:23] Speaker 2: in the show because it is, like I said, just
[41:25] Speaker 2: Fleetwood macfan fiction int and the lead guy has her
[41:29] Speaker 2: saying this show that's like, oh, you only like kissing me,
[41:32] Speaker 2: like it's better to miss me, and it's very like edgy.
[41:37] Speaker 3: Oh, I will see how I feel.
[41:40] Speaker 2: I think we know how I'm going to feel. Give
[41:42] Speaker 2: it if you like Smash on NBC.
[41:44] Speaker 3: I never watched Smash.
[41:46] Speaker 2: That's what other people didn't. Yeah, but that those two.
[41:49] Speaker 3: Where people are like, it's extremely boring and expensive, but there's.
[41:53] Speaker 2: A lot of and for some reason I can't stop
[41:54] Speaker 2: watching it.
[41:56] Speaker 3: Okay, I'm grabbing into the bag again, seeing something here.
[41:59] Speaker 2: It's a leather so this is a laptop case. This
[42:03] Speaker 2: is interesting and it says email is hard.
[42:05] Speaker 3: I've been talking about emails already on the podcast.
[42:08] Speaker 2: And they're hard and they said, and so this is
[42:11] Speaker 2: a little this is nice, Yeah, girl boss, it is
[42:14] Speaker 2: from the wonderful show Hacks.
[42:16] Speaker 3: I mean this is HBO budget.
[42:17] Speaker 2: Then, yes, this is It's like a laptop container. Yeah,
[42:22] Speaker 2: like a laptop container traveling. It doesn't fit any laptop,
[42:26] Speaker 2: I owe, But like I said, it's it's inspiring of
[42:32] Speaker 2: this creative journey.
[42:33] Speaker 3: That I wanted to take you on laptop. We're going
[42:36] Speaker 3: to try.
[42:37] Speaker 2: I think it's going to fit. Oh this is nice,
[42:39] Speaker 2: Oh my god, very nice. I know.
[42:41] Speaker 3: I'm not fully on board with saying I'm gonna have
[42:43] Speaker 3: to get Yeah, the scratch.
[42:44] Speaker 2: Thing where it's like I would have preferred maybe just
[42:46] Speaker 2: the hack slogo or something.
[42:48] Speaker 3: It's just like a kind of anodyne, innocuous, just we
[42:53] Speaker 3: don't need a.
[42:53] Speaker 2: We don't need to. It's very live left love for
[42:57] Speaker 2: a millennial. Yeah, it's very like millennial live left love.
[43:01] Speaker 2: But you know, inspiring for the inner girl boss.
[43:06] Speaker 3: I'm always chasing my inner girl Boss. I'm going to
[43:10] Speaker 3: catch up to her one day and then I'm going
[43:11] Speaker 3: to make it in business, makeing it.
[43:14] Speaker 2: And she's gonna turn and say emails aren't that hard
[43:17] Speaker 2: and she's gonna and then she's gonna type And that's
[43:19] Speaker 2: that's what I wanted to get do with. Did you
[43:22] Speaker 2: watch the show girl Boss? I did? That?
[43:25] Speaker 3: Was that on Netflix?
[43:27] Speaker 2: I watched it binged it in like a day. If
[43:31] Speaker 2: you're not familiar, it is about the rise of the
[43:33] Speaker 2: woman who started the company nasty Gal. Okay, right, yes,
[43:37] Speaker 2: this is a which like a thousand years away. Yeah,
[43:40] Speaker 2: a thousand years away, And that's one point. Nasty Gal
[43:43] Speaker 2: was like the most exciting store you could buy clothes
[43:45] Speaker 2: from and now it's like owned by Walmart and no
[43:48] Speaker 2: one cares. But like, at a point, it was like
[43:50] Speaker 2: the it fashion thing. And it shows like her rise
[43:55] Speaker 2: to that, which was basically her going to thrift stores,
[43:57] Speaker 2: buying stuff and reselling it at a higher price. And
[44:00] Speaker 2: it is the thrilling story of her doing that. And
[44:05] Speaker 2: it's basically like halfway through you think it kind of
[44:08] Speaker 2: feels like everyone just kind of looks at each other like, wait,
[44:10] Speaker 2: why is this a show?
[44:11] Speaker 3: And no, remind me was it was the title officially
[44:15] Speaker 3: hashtag girl boss? Or am I imagined basically.
[44:18] Speaker 2: This hashtag girl But I do believe it was that
[44:21] Speaker 2: period of time when the hashtag was being used in
[44:24] Speaker 2: a title. It's hard to admit these days, we don't
[44:26] Speaker 2: like to tell people that, but there was a time
[44:29] Speaker 2: you would just a full network streaming platform, cable channel
[44:34] Speaker 2: would put a hashtag in front of a front of
[44:36] Speaker 2: a title.
[44:37] Speaker 3: Oh boy, I feel like I would actually have a
[44:39] Speaker 3: great time watching that show now, because there's no way
[44:42] Speaker 3: that's an age twelve.
[44:43] Speaker 2: No, absolutely not. I mean I think at the time
[44:46] Speaker 2: I kind of remember being like, this is a bit
[44:49] Speaker 2: too pass because it's trying to capture that like indie
[44:52] Speaker 2: sleeze era. Oh right, and there hasn't been any media
[44:56] Speaker 2: that's done that well catching sleezes sleeezes.
[44:59] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of in the air on the bathroom
[45:03] Speaker 3: floor and don't capture.
[45:05] Speaker 2: Still capture, And it was just a bit too clean cut.
[45:08] Speaker 2: It wasn't vice enough.
[45:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes sense to me. It was a corporate
[45:13] Speaker 3: sleeve which doesn't work.
[45:15] Speaker 2: It doesn't work. It was just didn't get it. But
[45:18] Speaker 2: I do think it would probably make for a fun
[45:19] Speaker 2: drinking game.
[45:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, I said, maybe I'm going to dive into that's
[45:23] Speaker 3: my new show. I'm going to be recommending the hashtag girls.
[45:27] Speaker 2: I feel like I wouldn't be shocked if that's one
[45:29] Speaker 2: of those shows. Netflix was like, we just took it off.
[45:33] Speaker 3: Yeah that makes sense. Well I like that. I actually
[45:37] Speaker 3: this and once I get rid of the email is hard.
[45:40] Speaker 3: I'm on the go with this.
[45:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, but the email that's you know the motivation, right? Yeah?
[45:47] Speaker 3: Is your laptop screen filthy?
[45:49] Speaker 2: It is? Mine is? Why is it so disgusting? I
[45:53] Speaker 2: don't know what happens that so much gets on it.
[45:57] Speaker 2: I tried one of those like screen things that people
[45:59] Speaker 2: like put this on it, but that was just annoying
[46:01] Speaker 2: and it made it hard to see. So I whip.
[46:03] Speaker 3: I just took it off and now it's Yeah, and
[46:05] Speaker 3: I've tried cleaning it, and I think it's made the problem. Yeah, exponentially, get.
[46:09] Speaker 2: Those wipes and you know, but maybe with this case.
[46:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, well, the outside be kind of clean or something,
[46:15] Speaker 3: then I'll be able to crack it open and the
[46:16] Speaker 3: inside will be absolutely discussed.
[46:18] Speaker 2: It's in a very difficult email.
[46:22] Speaker 3: I've talked about this on this podcast before, but I
[46:25] Speaker 3: think the new thing is using the chatbot to write
[46:27] Speaker 3: your emails for it.
[46:28] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I actually recently had a writing gig where
[46:31] Speaker 2: they encouraged me to use chatpot. It was for this
[46:35] Speaker 2: weed company and they hired me to write like weed
[46:39] Speaker 2: shows for a weed streaming channel that I will not
[46:45] Speaker 2: name because it's not out and who knows if it
[46:46] Speaker 2: ever will be. It's very like Quibbi weed. It's like
[46:50] Speaker 2: they wanted to be like the weed Quibbi and they
[46:53] Speaker 2: hired me to like write shows and content and I
[46:55] Speaker 2: would do that and then they would go, you know,
[46:57] Speaker 2: we want to see what the robot would do, and
[47:00] Speaker 2: they and I would just be like, okay, well then
[47:03] Speaker 2: I don't know why you hired a person. And the
[47:05] Speaker 2: guy who ran the company was truly just like inputting
[47:08] Speaker 2: in the chat GPT like stone or recipe show that
[47:12] Speaker 2: will attract like ages nineteen to twenty four. What was
[47:16] Speaker 2: coming out of it? Oh, just the dumbest things you'd
[47:19] Speaker 2: ever imagine. It would really just be like here's a
[47:22] Speaker 2: perfect outline for a weed show that would like and
[47:24] Speaker 2: it would just be like, you should have a young
[47:26] Speaker 2: woman host who's like attractive, You should have her like
[47:30] Speaker 2: introduce like strain heavy and specific because you know young
[47:33] Speaker 2: boys and weed like when it's like this is you know,
[47:35] Speaker 2: percent baby like and just like absolute like nonsense and
[47:41] Speaker 2: made up like facts in some of the stuff where
[47:43] Speaker 2: they would just be like, and everybody knows Joe Rogan
[47:47] Speaker 2: like loves to smoke this before he blah blah blah.
[47:50] Speaker 2: And I was like, is that true? I just like,
[47:54] Speaker 2: can we say that is that true? Do we know
[47:56] Speaker 2: that Joe Rogan loves to like smoke on wedding cake
[47:59] Speaker 2: before he hits the UFC ring. I don't know if
[48:01] Speaker 2: that's true.
[48:03] Speaker 3: So what it was producing is the truly the goal
[48:06] Speaker 3: to be like, now we're producing this thing.
[48:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, and they would they would like it just reached
[48:10] Speaker 2: a point where they were like creating chat GPT scripts
[48:13] Speaker 2: and having me edit them to make sense and like
[48:15] Speaker 2: fact check it. And then I would come back and
[48:18] Speaker 2: be like, here's me trying to make sense of this
[48:21] Speaker 2: here stuff that is stolen from like magazine articles or
[48:25] Speaker 2: books that you probably can't use. And then they would
[48:28] Speaker 2: just kind of be like, well, yeah, who's gonna search
[48:30] Speaker 2: and see that we stole that line from something else?
[48:34] Speaker 3: Attorneys, Yes, that's the.
[48:37] Speaker 2: People who are paid to do that as a job.
[48:39] Speaker 2: Maybe yeah, yeah, maybe Joe Rogan, if you keep slandering
[48:43] Speaker 2: him with your jazz, that's true.
[48:45] Speaker 3: Here comes Joey I found a weakness with the chatbot recently.
[48:49] Speaker 3: I thought this would be a really easy thing for
[48:51] Speaker 3: it to do. It's like it could help me like
[48:54] Speaker 3: find fun new songs from different eras or whatever. It
[48:57] Speaker 3: was like, yeah, tell me so like this sort of
[48:58] Speaker 3: song from nineteen ninety eight. It would send me fifty songs.
[49:01] Speaker 3: Four of them would be from nineteen ninety eight and
[49:03] Speaker 3: then the rest are from truly any era.
[49:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not working. It's not working. Yeah. I would
[49:09] Speaker 2: try to do useful things and just be like, oh,
[49:12] Speaker 2: give me a bio of Like I did a piece
[49:15] Speaker 2: on Monique and her new special and I was like,
[49:17] Speaker 2: just give me like a quick bio of Monique.
[49:20] Speaker 3: It's the same thing you got for Joe Broke.
[49:21] Speaker 2: Yeah. It truly was just like made up stuff. Didn't
[49:24] Speaker 2: have like where she was actually born. It was like, oh, actually,
[49:28] Speaker 2: we only can tell you about her life up until
[49:30] Speaker 2: like twenty nineteen. That's all our software, right, and then
[49:33] Speaker 2: she just stops existing. Well they're not even using the
[49:36] Speaker 2: real facts, the real facts. It was just like and
[49:38] Speaker 2: her parents were teachers.
[49:40] Speaker 3: Yeah that's it. She's a very public figure. Yeah, I
[49:42] Speaker 3: should be able to find.
[49:43] Speaker 2: It just should be easy for it to just be like,
[49:45] Speaker 2: here's some stuff about Monique and her latest thing, and
[49:48] Speaker 2: I was just like what I could just go read.
[49:50] Speaker 3: Wikipedia, fascinating, what a piece of garbage. Well that makes
[49:53] Speaker 3: me feel better about our futures for a minute.
[49:55] Speaker 2: It's not taking our future. It's still about humans, us
[50:00] Speaker 2: humans writing.
[50:01] Speaker 3: Yes, the songs, Yes, the important things. Is there anything
[50:07] Speaker 3: left in this bag?
[50:08] Speaker 1: Or right?
[50:08] Speaker 2: There are actually like three more things I got in here.
[50:12] Speaker 3: There's another baseball carries another We're gonna switch caps mid yes,
[50:18] Speaker 3: mid stream here Now it's his documentary plus.
[50:20] Speaker 2: Yes, this is a cap for the streaming platform documentary plus. Oh,
[50:25] Speaker 2: I bet that's a good streaming platform. It is. They
[50:27] Speaker 2: have free documentaries.
[50:28] Speaker 3: Oh, free documentary documentary. So have you watched any documentaries
[50:33] Speaker 3: on it?
[50:34] Speaker 2: I have a few. They They had one that I
[50:36] Speaker 2: did that was called Finders Keepers and it's about this
[50:39] Speaker 2: man who had a drug problem. He overdosed and lost
[50:42] Speaker 2: his foot. They had to amputate it. Uh yeah, Oh,
[50:46] Speaker 2: and he mammifies his foot and like a barbecue tin,
[50:51] Speaker 2: he leaves it in a garage. It gets sold off
[50:54] Speaker 2: and a guy buys his foot and basically is like
[50:56] Speaker 2: I'm keeping it and the guy's like, we'll give it back,
[50:59] Speaker 2: and he's like, no finder keepers.
[51:00] Speaker 3: And what ends up happening? Who ends up getting Well,
[51:02] Speaker 3: don't spoiler, I.
[51:03] Speaker 2: Don't want to go watch. Yeah, and you can watch
[51:05] Speaker 2: it for free on.
[51:06] Speaker 3: Documentary Wow, this has really become paid content, you know.
[51:09] Speaker 2: I mean, which just gifts from my house that means
[51:12] Speaker 2: much so much to me, from the media companies that
[51:15] Speaker 2: care about me. Uh and you know, send me gifts.
[51:18] Speaker 3: We're marketing teams. Their plan has finally worked out. It's like, yeah,
[51:22] Speaker 3: it was a long journey, a long journey. Some of
[51:24] Speaker 3: our shows have been canceled, but they're now being talked about.
[51:27] Speaker 2: It would not actually tell you if this app still
[51:28] Speaker 2: exists or has gone the way of Quiby a Boy,
[51:31] Speaker 2: But if it's still.
[51:32] Speaker 3: Out there Documentary Plus, I'm going to check you out.
[51:36] Speaker 2: But you know, to inspire you along this journey to
[51:38] Speaker 2: create Yeah, you know, to see more of the human
[51:41] Speaker 2: experience with documentary Plus.
[51:42] Speaker 3: And this is this one to me feels a little
[51:45] Speaker 3: bit easier to wear in public. Yeah, it's not like
[51:47] Speaker 3: kind of picking up with the baby.
[51:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, that one's a little addressed.
[51:52] Speaker 3: That's for a sexier outing for me. Yeah, this is
[51:55] Speaker 3: when I'm at the live.
[51:56] Speaker 2: It's very cool. And I think at one point they
[51:58] Speaker 2: posted a picture of Katie Perry it too, So that's.
[52:03] Speaker 3: That's Katie watches document Yeah kat Watch is interesting, right? Okay,
[52:07] Speaker 3: which do you think I look better?
[52:09] Speaker 2: I like the documentary class that has like this nice
[52:11] Speaker 2: little pop of pink that really goes Okay, I'm not
[52:14] Speaker 2: seeing something else. And here's Made for this Isn't Made
[52:17] Speaker 2: for Love candle? Oh do you know what it smells like? Oh,
[52:20] Speaker 2: it's really nice. It's like a vanilla ish. Uh oh,
[52:23] Speaker 2: that's a pleasant can, really nice candle. It's not a
[52:27] Speaker 2: it's not overbearing right, nice clean sense. It's a nice, clean,
[52:30] Speaker 2: pretty scent, you know. So you can light it, you
[52:33] Speaker 2: can set a mood, you can write just see. Like
[52:36] Speaker 2: I said, there's a creative experience and journey this gifts.
[52:39] Speaker 3: So yeah, what was like? What was how does this
[52:41] Speaker 3: tie into Made for Love? Isn't that show about?
[52:44] Speaker 2: Actually?
[52:44] Speaker 3: I have no idea.
[52:46] Speaker 2: It's about like a fake Google company that like has
[52:49] Speaker 2: ai that like takes over people's brains. Okay, so that
[52:53] Speaker 2: like if someone loves you, they can be like I
[52:55] Speaker 2: want to merge our brains in our every thought. And
[52:57] Speaker 2: this guy is like, that's a good idea for love.
[52:59] Speaker 2: But then this other woman that everyone else is like, no,
[53:01] Speaker 2: like because people should have privacy. And then but a candle,
[53:07] Speaker 2: I don't know, actually.
[53:08] Speaker 3: A clear tie in.
[53:10] Speaker 2: It's a a clear, clear tie in. But for the
[53:13] Speaker 2: you know, with the notebooks lighting the candle, maybe it
[53:17] Speaker 2: makes the emails less hard. It's all an experience.
[53:21] Speaker 3: I'm going to try to utilize every one of these
[53:22] Speaker 3: objects at once. Oh please, I have a complete mental breakdown.
[53:26] Speaker 2: And and I mean the last one. I think there's
[53:28] Speaker 2: one more.
[53:30] Speaker 3: Oh, it's kind of a little like jewelry boxy box. Yes, yes,
[53:35] Speaker 3: this is where we begin to be engaged.
[53:38] Speaker 2: Let's stay here.
[53:39] Speaker 3: I'm opening oh.
[53:40] Speaker 2: Gorgeous, gorgeous little diamond jewel necklace that came to me
[53:48] Speaker 2: from a media kit for a CW show that I
[53:51] Speaker 2: don't know, maybe was based on like Pretty Little Liars
[53:53] Speaker 2: or something, I don't know, some TV show where like
[53:55] Speaker 2: there's a girl who has a necklace and she ends
[53:58] Speaker 2: up dead and this is a version of that necklace.
[54:02] Speaker 3: Well, it's a gorgeous necklace. I would kill for this
[54:04] Speaker 3: thing exactly.
[54:04] Speaker 2: I just had to host one hundred and fifty episodes
[54:06] Speaker 2: of a podcast to get it exactly. I'm gonna and
[54:09] Speaker 2: so it's based on this young girl and uh, it's
[54:13] Speaker 2: it's a replica. I don't know the name of the
[54:15] Speaker 2: show on Atlas.
[54:17] Speaker 3: We put this on me on Alys is gonna Yes, wow,
[54:19] Speaker 3: I feel so.
[54:20] Speaker 2: It's gorgeous. It's it's a little and it's very like
[54:23] Speaker 2: because this is a show about teens, it's the CW.
[54:25] Speaker 2: So it is very like a teen esque.
[54:28] Speaker 3: Yes, it looks like a Claire's product.
[54:29] Speaker 2: Yes, it is very like a giant just butterflies.
[54:33] Speaker 3: Oh, it's a joker.
[54:35] Speaker 2: Actually, I want to it's kill you.
[54:38] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be able to. I don't know if.
[54:40] Speaker 2: It's a joker, if it's meant for like a teenage girl.
[54:44] Speaker 3: Teenage TV blugger or something. Yeah, it fits, but it
[54:47] Speaker 3: is there is.
[54:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, there's definitely gonna be some like seventeen year old
[54:51] Speaker 2: out there who's very very jealous that you have the
[54:54] Speaker 2: necklace from like Ghost Spirits High or something. Wow, And
[54:59] Speaker 2: what is this little thing? It's a it's like a butterfly,
[55:01] Speaker 2: butterfly little she's a little butterfly. It looks like.
[55:03] Speaker 3: Wow, I feel so elegant, honestly look altogether but a
[55:09] Speaker 3: unique look. No one will be able to get this
[55:11] Speaker 3: exact look anywhere.
[55:12] Speaker 2: No, no, unless they are very very close with the
[55:15] Speaker 2: PR departments of c W, t LC and HBO Max.
[55:20] Speaker 3: I need to get on these mailing lists for these
[55:22] Speaker 3: shows garbage.
[55:23] Speaker 2: There are the gifts that people give me and I
[55:25] Speaker 2: and I love it as I don't get gifts in life,
[55:28] Speaker 2: but these you're getting all sorts of things, you know,
[55:30] Speaker 2: are the gifts that what were the most valuable thing,
[55:33] Speaker 2: like most useful thing you've actually gotten from this actually
[55:38] Speaker 2: made for love that was a gigantic media case you retail.
[55:42] Speaker 2: They sent me an or ring which is basically like
[55:45] Speaker 2: a fitbit ring that like tracks your heartbeat and your
[55:48] Speaker 2: calories and everything. Yeah, they're very expensive, and they gave
[55:51] Speaker 2: it to me in like a free year subscription. Uh.
[55:54] Speaker 2: And they gave me this like one of those projector
[55:56] Speaker 2: starlights for your room that like does the ASMRX experience.
[56:01] Speaker 2: Those were like the.
[56:01] Speaker 3: Most that's fancy. They have the money budget, yeah, pour
[56:07] Speaker 3: it into everything. The hacks budget was also very good.
[56:09] Speaker 3: They gave me like shot glasses, a bottle of like whiskey.
[56:12] Speaker 2: Do they all say email it is hard, yes?
[56:15] Speaker 3: Is that true?
[56:15] Speaker 2: No? Some of them weren't even word There was like
[56:18] Speaker 2: a pillow that said, like, uh, scream.
[56:21] Speaker 3: Here, and I was like, I can't imagine the people
[56:25] Speaker 3: behind hacks are happy with with the There's no chance.
[56:30] Speaker 2: It didn't line up with what I show, but it,
[56:34] Speaker 2: you know, it was very girl boss energy.
[56:37] Speaker 3: It's yeah, I mean beyond, but I'm I'm happy to
[56:41] Speaker 3: own it. This is my new persona. I'm the girl
[56:43] Speaker 3: Boss exactly. It's going to stand in my.
[56:45] Speaker 2: Way at the end of the day. That is what
[56:46] Speaker 2: I wanted this gift to represent, is that girl boss
[56:49] Speaker 2: believe in your self energy. I have, yes, right, budget it,
[56:55] Speaker 2: write it, and achieve it. The email is hard. Send
[56:58] Speaker 2: it anyway?
[57:01] Speaker 3: Oh millennial dialogue? Do you know what I think? I
[57:05] Speaker 3: don't know if it's millennials or gen Z, but I
[57:08] Speaker 3: think iconic is gen Z's.
[57:10] Speaker 2: Literally yes, yeah, does that make sense? I think it
[57:13] Speaker 2: feels like it lines up. Millennials did literally ruined literally,
[57:17] Speaker 2: we ruined literally literally I literally you know, and they
[57:20] Speaker 2: are just iconic. It's chic, She's iconic, and it's like, really.
[57:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, interesting way we just grind words into dust, like.
[57:27] Speaker 2: I've gone out looking like shit, and I'm on some
[57:30] Speaker 2: you know, comedy lineup with like a twenty three year
[57:32] Speaker 2: old who's just like Carob, you like iconic, and I'm
[57:34] Speaker 2: just like, I don't we don't need to patronizing me.
[57:36] Speaker 2: What's going on?
[57:38] Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I have so many gifts for my future breakdown.
[57:42] Speaker 3: I'll be wearing two hats, my choker, I'll have the candle,
[57:45] Speaker 3: and I'll be writing in two different notebooks. I'll do
[57:47] Speaker 3: my drafts of my emails in the note.
[57:49] Speaker 2: In the notebooks. Transfer yes, chat GPT, have it chat,
[57:54] Speaker 2: have it, do it, go through and that makes it
[57:56] Speaker 2: a little easier. And then you have the energy of
[57:59] Speaker 2: the ghosts. Girl Necklace and Daisy Jones had a deafening volume.
[58:03] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, you get Aurora playing and let me
[58:06] Speaker 2: you get stuff done. It's such a good album, though
[58:10] Speaker 2: I know that people keep saying it's fake and chill,
[58:13] Speaker 2: but it's really good.
[58:14] Speaker 3: I'm so curious now people.
[58:17] Speaker 2: My friends, it's like kids Bob music. It's not. It
[58:19] Speaker 2: is like adult music. It's just a fake band.
[58:23] Speaker 3: I wonder how that would have reviewed had it been
[58:25] Speaker 3: just released into the wild without the TV show.
[58:27] Speaker 2: The TV show and I think it would have gotten
[58:30] Speaker 2: like ten out of ten on Pitchfork, and I think
[58:31] Speaker 2: it would have been like the biggest thing in the
[58:33] Speaker 2: world and everyone would have been like, oh my god,
[58:35] Speaker 2: we're shocked. But people want to hate just because it
[58:37] Speaker 2: comes from a TV show.
[58:38] Speaker 3: That was Amazon's big mistake. They should have released that
[58:40] Speaker 3: before the show came out, exactly. Put the feathers out there. Yeah, okay,
[58:45] Speaker 3: it's time to play a game. Yes, we're gonna play
[58:47] Speaker 3: a game called Gift to a Curse. I need a
[58:48] Speaker 3: number between one and ten from you.
[58:51] Speaker 2: Eight.
[58:51] Speaker 3: Okay, I have to do some light calculating right now.
[58:53] Speaker 3: You can recommend, promote, do whatever you want with the microphone.
[58:57] Speaker 2: Well, if you like all of this TV talk, feel
[58:59] Speaker 2: free to listen to podcast TV I say with Ashley Ray,
[59:02] Speaker 2: where I talk about most of the shows that send
[59:04] Speaker 2: me media kids and shows that don't send me media
[59:06] Speaker 2: kids even you know, if it's good enough, and I
[59:09] Speaker 2: talk a lot about Daisy Jones and the Six, which
[59:13] Speaker 2: again I just I'm glad you at least had heard
[59:16] Speaker 2: of it. It's a really good album. I mean, if
[59:18] Speaker 2: they're my friends, like, you're not even gonna listen to it?
[59:20] Speaker 2: In a few months. Guess what, I'm still listening to it.
[59:23] Speaker 2: I was listening to it on the drive here. It
[59:25] Speaker 2: just it's it sounds like Fleetwood mac Blea sides. I
[59:28] Speaker 2: don't know why we're mad about that. That's yeah. Wow,
[59:31] Speaker 2: oh interesting.
[59:33] Speaker 3: We did not expect the Uh, Daisy Jones, tous Daisy Jones,
[59:38] Speaker 3: you owe both of us. Yeah, Daisy Jones herself should
[59:42] Speaker 3: come on the podcast, honestly.
[59:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, amazing, amazing gifts.
[59:47] Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, this is how we played the game.
[59:50] Speaker 3: I'm gonna name three things. You're gonna tell me if
[59:52] Speaker 3: they're a gift or a person why, and then I'll
[59:54] Speaker 3: tell you if they're correct, or if you're correct or
[59:57] Speaker 3: not right answer of course, yeah, okay. The The first
[1:00:00] Speaker 3: thing is from somebody, a listener named Katie. She suggested
[1:00:03] Speaker 3: gift to a curse when your therapist has a large TikTok, following,
[1:00:08] Speaker 3: oh curse, why absolute curse. You can't take someone seriously
[1:00:12] Speaker 3: who uses TikTok. You can't get advice in life from
[1:00:16] Speaker 3: someone who uses TikTok. They've already made a mistake. They
[1:00:19] Speaker 3: use TikTok.
[1:00:20] Speaker 2: And not only that, not in like a way we
[1:00:22] Speaker 2: all use it where we just have an account that
[1:00:23] Speaker 2: we just kind of don't really use, or we just
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: like promote stuff, but we're mostly like looking at people
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: create content. They have a following, so that means they're
[1:00:30] Speaker 2: good at it, and that's not okay. If someone that's not.
[1:00:33] Speaker 3: Okay, they're using part of their time too, yeah, to get.
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: Good at TikTok, and that doesn't sit well with me,
[1:00:40] Speaker 2: And that means they're probably gonna use you for content
[1:00:42] Speaker 2: at some point, Like they're definitely talking about you in
[1:00:45] Speaker 2: some kind of like like I don't know, group chat
[1:00:48] Speaker 2: TikTok of other therapists being like this person.
[1:00:50] Speaker 3: Sucks, actually wrong. Every professional in your life should have
[1:00:55] Speaker 3: a large TikTok following. It's the only way we can
[1:00:58] Speaker 3: freely know they're good. Your doctor, your therapist, a nail girl,
[1:01:04] Speaker 3: your nail girl, your dentist, your mechanic. If they don't
[1:01:07] Speaker 3: have a large TikTok following, drop them, Drop them as
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: soon as possible.
[1:01:11] Speaker 2: You know what, You're right.
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: They should have the charisma to have a million followers
[1:01:17] Speaker 3: on TikTok.
[1:01:17] Speaker 2: And their advice should be so good that people want
[1:01:19] Speaker 2: to follow them.
[1:01:20] Speaker 3: Yes, I mean everything you see on TikTok. You should
[1:01:23] Speaker 3: follow you should disgusting recipes, the you know, little dances.
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: I see nothing wrong with this. It's a gift. It's
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: absolutely a gift.
[1:01:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. Now that, now that I see it in perspective,
[1:01:38] Speaker 2: I change my mind and I see, I see.
[1:01:40] Speaker 3: The gifts beautiful. I'm glad that you're being flexible and
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: fluid here. That's a good quality. Okay, number two, so
[1:01:48] Speaker 3: you've gotten one wrong. That's fine, It's okay, it's okay.
[1:01:50] Speaker 2: Number two.
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: This is from somebody named Kelsey. Gift or a curse
[1:01:54] Speaker 3: leaving the foil lid on the cream cheese after it's
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: already been open.
[1:01:58] Speaker 2: Oh oh, this one's a little difficult. I I'm going
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: to go with curse because I feel like you can
[1:02:10] Speaker 2: never You now know that people do that, They never
[1:02:12] Speaker 2: get all of the cream cheese off of the foil,
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: so then it gets hard and crusty on that part,
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: So then it's touching the like fresh cream cheese that
[1:02:20] Speaker 2: like has it's still in the bottom. So I feel
[1:02:24] Speaker 2: like it's it seems like it's a carrying move, but
[1:02:26] Speaker 2: it actually degrades the experience.
[1:02:29] Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, And you're absolutely correct, Thank you. You've got
[1:02:32] Speaker 3: to get that out of there. You've got to get
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: that filthy little piece of metal.
[1:02:35] Speaker 2: It's there. It's literally just there to be like, remove me, right.
[1:02:39] Speaker 3: It's getting touched by your fingers every time you go
[1:02:42] Speaker 3: for the cream cheese. The bacteria, it's a playground for disease.
[1:02:45] Speaker 2: It's disgusting.
[1:02:46] Speaker 3: It's absolutely should not be anywhere near that dairy product
[1:02:49] Speaker 3: after it's been open.
[1:02:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, and like I say, it gets all crusty. It's crass.
[1:02:53] Speaker 3: You're right, and I understand the it's kind of fun
[1:02:56] Speaker 3: to leave it there, and it feels like you're protecting
[1:02:57] Speaker 3: the cream chees.
[1:02:58] Speaker 2: It's nice to be able to pick a lot. What
[1:03:00] Speaker 2: are you protecting it from? Yeah, you've got the plastic lid. Yeah,
[1:03:03] Speaker 2: that's what the plastic is there for. Right, I mean,
[1:03:06] Speaker 2: let's see.
[1:03:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess unless they're talking about they couldn't possibly
[1:03:09] Speaker 3: be talking about the bars of cream cheese. Garbage trucks.
[1:03:12] Speaker 3: How many are we having through their neighborhood today. It's
[1:03:15] Speaker 3: a garbage celebration.
[1:03:17] Speaker 2: I know, that would be that would be crazy, yeah,
[1:03:19] Speaker 2: because those are like that has to be in the foil,
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: there's no other Yeah.
[1:03:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're talking about the round thing. Yeah,
[1:03:26] Speaker 3: the little plastic container. It's a curse. Kelsey, You've got
[1:03:29] Speaker 3: your answer, yea and excellently played. Okay, final question here,
[1:03:34] Speaker 3: Cindy has suggested gift or a curse. Grandparents are taking
[1:03:38] Speaker 3: on the rolls of flower girl and ring bearer at weddings.
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: Oh you know what, I'm trying to be a more
[1:03:48] Speaker 2: positive person, a more open and accepting person. So I'm
[1:03:53] Speaker 2: gonna go gifts. Okay, why I'm gonna go gift? That
[1:03:57] Speaker 2: could be sweets grandma and grandpa. It could be sweet
[1:04:02] Speaker 2: and not patronizing and and fantilizing. It could that could
[1:04:06] Speaker 2: be done in a cute way. Okay, I don't know.
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: It feels like very I don't know, like an episode
[1:04:14] Speaker 2: of the Office. Like it just it warms my way
[1:04:16] Speaker 2: in a way. Where is it? It's like, is it twenty eleven?
[1:04:19] Speaker 2: Like I you know, it feels very Obama era something
[1:04:22] Speaker 2: about that. I like that.
[1:04:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, well you're wrong.
[1:04:25] Speaker 2: Oh they're taking jobs away from other people.
[1:04:31] Speaker 3: Grandparents have another thing to do a weddings. I assume
[1:04:33] Speaker 3: I don't know what they're you know, they float around
[1:04:36] Speaker 3: and do their thing.
[1:04:38] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: Also, it's maybe they don't want to be put to work. Maybe,
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: you know, they can't say no.
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, so the it's also not like it's a hard job.
[1:04:50] Speaker 2: I would say maybe the two easiest jobs, which is
[1:04:53] Speaker 2: why they're often given to children and babies and and dogs.
[1:04:56] Speaker 3: Both they sound physically taxing to me.
[1:04:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean caring objects walking. I feel like I
[1:05:03] Speaker 2: would give grandparents the same the way I give a child.
[1:05:06] Speaker 2: You know, like when there's a little girl who just
[1:05:08] Speaker 2: dumps all the flowers at once and then just goes
[1:05:10] Speaker 2: and sits down. I would be fine with that.
[1:05:13] Speaker 3: Okay, that I mean that I could be on board
[1:05:15] Speaker 3: with a yeah grandma just dumping things on the ground.
[1:05:18] Speaker 2: Dumping it and like I did it, you know, Or
[1:05:21] Speaker 2: like when it's like the dog who has the ring
[1:05:22] Speaker 2: and it just like kind of walks up there but
[1:05:24] Speaker 2: never really makes it all the way and finally the
[1:05:26] Speaker 2: groom is just like it ah, yeah, and just like
[1:05:28] Speaker 2: gets the ring.
[1:05:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, Grandpa swallows the ring. Okay, but you're not convincing me.
[1:05:33] Speaker 3: You you got one out of three? Okay, did not
[1:05:35] Speaker 3: fail the game? Well you did fail the game. Yeah,
[1:05:37] Speaker 3: do not fail it completely, which feels amazing.
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: But yeah, that feels good. It still feels good. It
[1:05:42] Speaker 2: still feels good.
[1:05:43] Speaker 3: Your garbage day is not ruined, well decently played. Yeah,
[1:05:47] Speaker 3: we had a nice, level headed conversation. Neither of us
[1:05:49] Speaker 3: got mad.
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: And I do see your point on those issues. I
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: en retro. Yeah, they're stealing jobs from children. Ye, and
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: as someone child labor exactly. Yeah.
[1:05:59] Speaker 3: I feel like there's some state that's currently trying to
[1:06:02] Speaker 3: get children working.
[1:06:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, like Tennessee. Probably.
[1:06:04] Speaker 3: I feel like you are Kansas Sciences, and I don't.
[1:06:07] Speaker 3: I don't want to trow in Texas. It is one
[1:06:09] Speaker 3: of those. It's a state that's making the wrong choice.
[1:06:12] Speaker 3: That's ultimately the problem here. Okay, we're at the final
[1:06:15] Speaker 3: segment of the podcast. I said no emails. People write
[1:06:18] Speaker 3: into I said no gifts at gmail dot com with
[1:06:21] Speaker 3: their questions. My listeners have questions. I'll leave it at that.
[1:06:26] Speaker 3: They've got questions, galore, Will you.
[1:06:28] Speaker 2: Help me answer something? Absolutely?
[1:06:30] Speaker 3: Okay, let's see here. This says, dear Bridger and beloved guest.
[1:06:34] Speaker 3: My mother loves and that's very nice. My mother loves
[1:06:37] Speaker 3: to buy me presents, which is very sweet. The problem
[1:06:41] Speaker 3: is that everything she buys for me is something I
[1:06:42] Speaker 3: would have never picked out for myself. And more often
[1:06:46] Speaker 3: than not, the gifts are just just lay around unused.
[1:06:49] Speaker 3: I don't have the heart to tell her I don't
[1:06:51] Speaker 3: like them, so I just say thank you and change
[1:06:53] Speaker 3: the subject. How do I get her to stop wasting
[1:06:55] Speaker 3: money on things I'll never wear or use? Thanks in
[1:06:58] Speaker 3: advance for helping me out with my predicament. And that's
[1:07:01] Speaker 3: from Jess. She day, Jess, Jess is, I hate to
[1:07:07] Speaker 3: say it a horrible child.
[1:07:09] Speaker 2: I mean that, that is what I wanted to say immediately.
[1:07:12] Speaker 2: To be thankful to your mother, your mommy, your mama,
[1:07:18] Speaker 2: I mean my mom. Like I said, stop giving me gifts.
[1:07:20] Speaker 2: The moment I turned eighteen, she was just like, here
[1:07:22] Speaker 2: socks enjoy. So maybe you get to know your mom.
[1:07:26] Speaker 2: Let your mom know you so she can know what
[1:07:28] Speaker 2: to get you.
[1:07:29] Speaker 3: I think there's a great distance between Jess and mom
[1:07:32] Speaker 3: and mom and Jess refuses to do the work to
[1:07:35] Speaker 3: bridge that ga gap. And this was like an opportunity
[1:07:39] Speaker 3: for both Jess and mom to maybe do some to
[1:07:42] Speaker 3: go out on some dates.
[1:07:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, go out together, go to the TJ Max together
[1:07:45] Speaker 2: and tell your mom, no, no, no, no, I don't
[1:07:47] Speaker 2: want the pillow that says email is hard. You know
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: that's not my style.
[1:07:52] Speaker 3: Mom, get in a fight with your mom at ross.
[1:07:55] Speaker 2: For us, that's oh, that's where relationships are just strengthened
[1:07:59] Speaker 2: and built. That's you know, Yeah, you forge it in
[1:08:03] Speaker 2: the fire. Yeah, you're at Marshalls. You're screaming. You don't
[1:08:07] Speaker 2: know anything about me, You don't know me. This is
[1:08:09] Speaker 2: my stay. That's where you really you know, yeah, fortune fire,
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: or if you want to be really passive aggressive, just
[1:08:15] Speaker 2: start regifting the gifts she gives you back to your
[1:08:17] Speaker 2: mom and making it clear you never used it and
[1:08:21] Speaker 2: did not like it.
[1:08:23] Speaker 3: Somehow find a way to make it look even newer
[1:08:25] Speaker 3: than when she gave it.
[1:08:25] Speaker 2: To you, you know, like really wrap it up really nice,
[1:08:28] Speaker 2: like just even beyond what she did, and then just
[1:08:30] Speaker 2: give it back and just don't even act like you know,
[1:08:33] Speaker 2: you've ever seen it before.
[1:08:34] Speaker 3: I mean, there is the chance that that means that
[1:08:36] Speaker 3: Jess is just playing into Mom's game and Mom bought
[1:08:40] Speaker 3: this knowing full well that was coming back.
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: It was coming back, which could be the long con here.
[1:08:44] Speaker 3: But I'm on Mom's side anyway, I'm not I'm not
[1:08:47] Speaker 3: a fan of Jess. Yeah, she's a horrible child, you know.
[1:08:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit it's kind of like I get,
[1:08:55] Speaker 2: but if your mom didn't want to spend the money,
[1:08:57] Speaker 2: she wouldn't end. Yeah, you know, say thank you, Say.
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: Thank you, and maybe grow as a person. Use the
[1:09:04] Speaker 3: things that you don't like, force yourself to use things
[1:09:06] Speaker 3: you don't know.
[1:09:07] Speaker 2: There's a use for everything. My mom gets me an
[1:09:10] Speaker 2: ugly shirt or something, or you know, media company sends
[1:09:14] Speaker 2: me a hoodie for a show that got canceled three
[1:09:17] Speaker 2: years ago, and I go, well, this is what I'm
[1:09:20] Speaker 2: gonna you know, clean my house in. This is a
[1:09:23] Speaker 2: perfect shirt for garden work.
[1:09:25] Speaker 3: Also, a big T shirt like that can be used
[1:09:28] Speaker 3: to mop up dust.
[1:09:29] Speaker 2: Yes, love that use. If you're mailing something, you can
[1:09:35] Speaker 2: use it to stuff a package. You can.
[1:09:39] Speaker 3: You can truly anything. I was gonna say to scare
[1:09:41] Speaker 3: away birds, and I don't know where we were going
[1:09:43] Speaker 3: with that. I guess make a scarecrow does make a scarecrow.
[1:09:46] Speaker 2: So whip a cloth at someone at a bird.
[1:09:49] Speaker 3: Yes, Jess, you have your answer. I hope that's what
[1:09:53] Speaker 3: you were looking for.
[1:09:53] Speaker 2: And I assume it was.
[1:09:54] Speaker 3: I think that's exactly what Jess expect And so we
[1:09:58] Speaker 3: did an excellent job. Ashley, what a wonderful time I've
[1:10:02] Speaker 3: had with you.
[1:10:03] Speaker 2: This was so fun. I've got two hats.
[1:10:05] Speaker 3: I've got my gorgeous jewelry, two note book handle, notebooks, leather,
[1:10:10] Speaker 3: thing that could ruin my reputation if I go out
[1:10:13] Speaker 3: with it. Saying email is hard. I'm ready to live
[1:10:17] Speaker 3: a new life.
[1:10:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's like I said, A new creative journey,
[1:10:20] Speaker 2: a new process to open yourself centered around the girl
[1:10:24] Speaker 2: Boss experience.
[1:10:26] Speaker 3: The girl Boss is my sun and moon exactly. Thank
[1:10:30] Speaker 3: you for being here, Thank you for having me listener. Wow,
[1:10:34] Speaker 3: the episode's over. We're screeching to a halt. You got
[1:10:37] Speaker 3: to hear the garbage can that was more than you
[1:10:40] Speaker 3: bargained for and or not the garbage can the garbage truck.
[1:10:43] Speaker 3: See again, I'm losing losing my mind. I'm absolutely breaking
[1:10:47] Speaker 3: down in front of you. We've got to close down
[1:10:51] Speaker 3: the podcast. Goodbye. I love you, I said. No Gifts
