[0:08] Speaker 1: And I invited you here.
[0:13] Speaker 2: Thought I made myself perfectly clear. When you're a guest
[0:18] Speaker 2: to my home, you gotta come to me empty. And
[0:25] Speaker 2: I said, no, guests, your own presences presence enough. And
[0:31] Speaker 2: I already had too much stuff, So how did you
[0:36] Speaker 2: dare to surbey me?
[0:49] Speaker 1: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm pretcher wine girl.
[0:54] Speaker 1: It's eleven am. I've already been to the Burbank Walmart.
[0:59] Speaker 1: It was a fine you know, unsettling and not at
[1:02] Speaker 1: the same time. The customer service was excellent. They had
[1:06] Speaker 1: a giant skeleton in the shape of a saber toothed tiger,
[1:09] Speaker 1: which I feel like is a confused message for Halloween.
[1:13] Speaker 1: I don't know what we're talking about when we have it.
[1:14] Speaker 1: That's a museum piece, that's not Halloween. I don't think
[1:19] Speaker 1: that's going to take off like the other skeleton has.
[1:22] Speaker 1: But who am I to say? I didn't really I
[1:23] Speaker 1: didn't know the skeleton would take off. Why was I
[1:26] Speaker 1: at Walmart? I had to return something. It was my
[1:28] Speaker 1: birthday last week and someone got me the wrong thing.
[1:31] Speaker 1: So now it's a whole journey. But oh, I should
[1:35] Speaker 1: talk about found coffee. I haven't talked about Found Coffee
[1:37] Speaker 1: in a long time. It's an Eagle Rock, California. They
[1:39] Speaker 1: do not sponsor the podcast. What I'm doing here is
[1:43] Speaker 1: I'm secretly building up a bill for them. Eventually we're
[1:46] Speaker 1: gonna slam them with an advertising bill and then they'll
[1:49] Speaker 1: be out of business. But in the meantime, you should go.
[1:52] Speaker 1: I love Found Coffee. The other well, speaking of Halloween,
[1:56] Speaker 1: look at me go. This is because I've had about
[1:58] Speaker 1: five hundred milligrams caffeine already. But on the way from
[2:03] Speaker 1: Found Coffee, I noticed that our local car wash is
[2:05] Speaker 1: now doing a haunted car wash. I don't know what
[2:09] Speaker 1: goes on in a haunted car wash, and I don't
[2:12] Speaker 1: want to know, but that's a new option. Everyone wants
[2:15] Speaker 1: to get in on the Halloween game. I don't know
[2:17] Speaker 1: why it's bigger than Christmas At this point, I think
[2:20] Speaker 1: you don't get a Christmas car wash. It's not a
[2:23] Speaker 1: bad idea Blaggio car wash or reach out. What else
[2:27] Speaker 1: is going on? Oh the other thing, I'm still trying
[2:30] Speaker 1: to figure out what's going on with Peter Teal and
[2:31] Speaker 1: the Antichrist. I don't know if I almost don't want
[2:35] Speaker 1: you to google this because this could ruin your algorithm.
[2:38] Speaker 1: Do you say antichrist or antichrist? Neither sounds right to me.
[2:43] Speaker 1: But Peter Teal is waging war on the Antichrist, and
[2:48] Speaker 1: that's all I really know. But thank you Peter. Okay, well, oh, Patreon.
[2:54] Speaker 1: Of course we've got to mention Patreon Patreon dot calm slash.
[2:59] Speaker 1: I said, no, give the amount of material there. I mean,
[3:03] Speaker 1: it's a treasure trove. Bonus episodes of the show. Also
[3:08] Speaker 1: episodes of me ranting about the Real Housewives of Salt
[3:10] Speaker 1: Lake City and then secret lives of Mormon wives, and
[3:13] Speaker 1: then who knows what else. I watched a little bit
[3:15] Speaker 1: of Sister Wives last night and season twenty things are
[3:19] Speaker 1: not going well for the polygamists. Come to Patreon support
[3:24] Speaker 1: the podcast. Okay, I mean this has been thirty minutes.
[3:27] Speaker 1: It's time to get into the podcast. Everyone loves today's guest.
[3:31] Speaker 1: He's fantastic. It's Jacob Wisaki. Jacob, welcome to iad No. Hello,
[3:36] Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I mean I brought a lot of information.
[3:40] Speaker 3: Ham there's a rule in podcasting, can't talk to your intro.
[3:44] Speaker 3: I follow the rules.
[3:46] Speaker 1: You did it very well.
[3:47] Speaker 3: I'm a consumer of the media. I understand how it works.
[3:51] Speaker 1: Occasionally the guest pops in.
[3:53] Speaker 3: I almost did, because I would have welcomed it. That
[3:55] Speaker 3: burbank Walmart's fucking nuts.
[3:57] Speaker 1: It is the greyest space I've ever Gray.
[4:00] Speaker 3: Is a great way to describe it. It is liminal
[4:02] Speaker 3: in that it is so far away from being in
[4:05] Speaker 3: Los Angeles, California, yet it is here.
[4:07] Speaker 1: Yes, it really feels like, Oh now I'm in another
[4:09] Speaker 1: I have just gone to another realm.
[4:11] Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you been to like more rural Walmart?
[4:14] Speaker 1: Well, I grew up in Utah, Okay, so I've been
[4:16] Speaker 1: to I would say, almost any type of Walmart you
[4:18] Speaker 1: can imagine, and I've been to them every time of day.
[4:23] Speaker 1: When I go visit my parents. Sometimes I'll just go
[4:24] Speaker 1: wander around the Walmart late at night just for the experience.
[4:28] Speaker 3: I've seen. Walmart is crystal clear.
[4:34] Speaker 1: The weirdest thing to see is a full family at
[4:37] Speaker 1: Walmart at that time of day. Yeah, okay, it's like
[4:40] Speaker 1: maybe vampires. I don't know what's happening.
[4:42] Speaker 3: It's good that we're all out.
[4:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad.
[4:45] Speaker 3: It's good that they're all out together. That's nice. You
[4:48] Speaker 3: have to see a family in arms.
[4:49] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course, of course, yeah, this Walmart, and
[4:53] Speaker 1: I'll also say it's it's in a parking lot with
[4:55] Speaker 1: also an Alta and a Sephora. You have the tension
[4:58] Speaker 1: there between these two makeups or there constantly fighting, constantly fighting?
[5:02] Speaker 1: Who allowed that to happen? You can't have both?
[5:05] Speaker 3: No, and how do you choose as a consumer? Oh?
[5:07] Speaker 1: Of course?
[5:10] Speaker 3: Oh, there's a spot at Alta.
[5:12] Speaker 1: I guess there's also a target within walking distance of
[5:15] Speaker 1: this Walmart.
[5:16] Speaker 3: I mean that's we're taught. You're talking about the beauty
[5:18] Speaker 3: of Burbank at this point.
[5:20] Speaker 1: There's room for everyone, and you got it all. There's
[5:23] Speaker 1: also kind of a religious workout center over here.
[5:26] Speaker 3: Tell me more religious, like God religious Christian gym?
[5:32] Speaker 1: Why did I call a gym a workout center?
[5:35] Speaker 3: It's not wrong. You weren't wrong. Don't be mean to yourself.
[5:38] Speaker 3: You weren't wrong.
[5:39] Speaker 1: My English classes are coming along, well, they have a
[5:42] Speaker 1: Christian gym.
[5:44] Speaker 3: Great.
[5:44] Speaker 1: This is a new phenomenon which I don't understand.
[5:48] Speaker 3: It's the race for the third space, that mythical third space.
[5:54] Speaker 3: They need it, they need it, and then we also
[5:56] Speaker 3: got to get Christ in the mix.
[5:58] Speaker 1: People love going to the gym and church. How do
[6:00] Speaker 1: we combine those two things.
[6:02] Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess it's a two for one.
[6:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, Yeah, interesting, a spiritual body practice, right,
[6:07] Speaker 1: do you go there on Sundays? Interesting?
[6:09] Speaker 3: Once a week gym, once a week gym.
[6:11] Speaker 1: They're now remember finding some apple for people. This is
[6:13] Speaker 1: all starting to add up.
[6:14] Speaker 3: It's good marketing at this point. Yeah.
[6:16] Speaker 1: But then the music it's probably Christian.
[6:18] Speaker 3: Rock, not fun.
[6:19] Speaker 1: No one likes it, even the people who say they.
[6:22] Speaker 3: Like it, even the people who make it.
[6:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like, well, I'd rather be doing something else.
[6:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just getting my bag.
[6:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, of course. How are you doing.
[6:31] Speaker 3: I'm good man, I'm good. Beautiful Burbank, California. You know,
[6:35] Speaker 3: nice early morning pod. It's great because you don't have
[6:38] Speaker 3: to do anything before this, right, and I technically don't
[6:41] Speaker 3: have to do anything after this.
[6:43] Speaker 1: It really I did something. It's a dangerous thing to
[6:47] Speaker 1: do a podcast early in the morning.
[6:48] Speaker 3: I know, it's kind of nice. I also have tripled
[6:51] Speaker 3: up on caffeine in a way that I normally don't.
[6:54] Speaker 1: What sort of caffeine were you consuming?
[6:55] Speaker 3: So I've moved away from liquid caffeine, okay as a
[7:00] Speaker 3: regular and I take a caffeine pill with my vitamins
[7:04] Speaker 3: in the morning. Why, I just I just think it
[7:08] Speaker 3: just kind of gets in the system in a way
[7:09] Speaker 3: that's a little better. And I don't like feel like
[7:12] Speaker 3: I crash. Oh, and it doesn't get me like because
[7:16] Speaker 3: sometimes you overshoot and then you're just.
[7:18] Speaker 1: Like, oh, buzzing every single hands will be shaking at
[7:22] Speaker 1: some point. Just wait, keep an eye on my body
[7:24] Speaker 1: and knocked in.
[7:25] Speaker 3: Yeah I'm locked in. All I'll ring a bell and
[7:27] Speaker 3: you start to shake. But yeah, it's it's nice. And
[7:31] Speaker 3: then sometimes like you don't have to take it, Like
[7:34] Speaker 3: if I want like a slow morning, right, it's not
[7:37] Speaker 3: like you get hooked in the same way I think
[7:39] Speaker 3: you do with like coffee and the ritual of like
[7:41] Speaker 3: brewing your coffee or making your espresso or whatever. So
[7:44] Speaker 3: like on the weekends, if I want to like be lazy,
[7:46] Speaker 3: I just don't take my caffeine bill and I can
[7:49] Speaker 3: just kind of like lumber around.
[7:51] Speaker 1: See, for me, it's not about feeling lazy. It's about
[7:53] Speaker 1: feeling like wanting to be awake at all. Sure when
[7:56] Speaker 1: I wake up, I'm just I mean, the most miserable
[7:59] Speaker 1: person you could possibly encounter, just not.
[8:03] Speaker 3: A sort of a grumbly bear situation.
[8:05] Speaker 1: I would go beyond that, okay, just I would say hateful. Sure,
[8:10] Speaker 1: there's a lot of spot me in the morning, so
[8:14] Speaker 1: until I've had some level of caffeine, it's just I
[8:18] Speaker 1: can't you can't be around me.
[8:20] Speaker 3: And now what happens if you don't get the juice?
[8:22] Speaker 1: If I don't get the juice? I mean, I question.
[8:26] Speaker 1: There was a huge part of my life that I
[8:27] Speaker 1: wasn't getting the juice in the morning, and it was
[8:29] Speaker 1: just like, well, what's wrong with me? Well, it's because
[8:31] Speaker 1: I don't have the normal brain chemistry of other people.
[8:35] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[8:36] Speaker 1: Then you get into this and you're like, oh, now
[8:37] Speaker 1: I get a lovely beverage in the morning, and then
[8:40] Speaker 1: about an hour after waking up, I can communicate with
[8:42] Speaker 1: other people and at that point I can start doing
[8:45] Speaker 1: my what's the game that I play connections?
[8:48] Speaker 3: I don't know what this is.
[8:49] Speaker 1: You don't connection.
[8:50] Speaker 3: Word is a word game.
[8:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a word game, kind of in the
[8:53] Speaker 1: same vein as wordle. Okay, I think it's better than wordle.
[8:56] Speaker 3: Ohay, fucking shots fire.
[9:00] Speaker 1: You heard me. Wordle is just a guessing game. It's
[9:04] Speaker 1: just you know, a slot machine. Essentially, isn't there strap
[9:07] Speaker 1: the strapped They're almost strap.
[9:12] Speaker 3: Because it's like S is more than T or whatever.
[9:14] Speaker 1: But people talk about strategy with a slot machine. Yeah,
[9:18] Speaker 1: and there's it's like, no, never have a.
[9:19] Speaker 3: Friend who figured out Roulette. Yes, and they're like, I
[9:23] Speaker 3: just I figured out the system. It's the system. And
[9:26] Speaker 3: then they go and they're like, well, there's actually just
[9:29] Speaker 3: some error with my system.
[9:30] Speaker 1: It's like, well, I gave you my money because you
[9:32] Speaker 1: were so confident. Yeah, and now I'm realizing, oh, this
[9:35] Speaker 1: is still purely chance. Yeah, and you're delusional. Do you
[9:39] Speaker 1: gamble at all?
[9:39] Speaker 3: I do? I like I like a controlled gambling situation whereas, uh,
[9:46] Speaker 3: I'm going in with one hundred dollars okay, and then
[9:49] Speaker 3: I will leave right And that either means I'm gonna
[9:52] Speaker 3: sit and slow play and see if I can accumulate,
[9:55] Speaker 3: or sometimes I just go for like the one big
[9:57] Speaker 3: dopamine hit and I goes like straight to Roulette, put
[10:00] Speaker 3: it on black and just like hope, and I like
[10:03] Speaker 3: channel my psychic.
[10:04] Speaker 1: Running an errand just pop in.
[10:06] Speaker 3: I love like a road trip where there's like a
[10:10] Speaker 3: little dinky casino, like I'd rather stop there for like
[10:14] Speaker 3: my little like stretch and break situation and then like
[10:17] Speaker 3: play twenty in a slot and haal.
[10:18] Speaker 1: Some cigarette smoke.
[10:19] Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I used to smoke SIGs. I don't smoke
[10:25] Speaker 3: cigarettes anymore. So it is like a cheap Yeah, of
[10:27] Speaker 3: course it's a bit of a cheap.
[10:28] Speaker 1: That actually is. It's always shocking to find people smoking
[10:31] Speaker 1: in a casino. I mean like it's wicked to be
[10:33] Speaker 1: in dos.
[10:34] Speaker 3: Truly, it's the last frontier.
[10:36] Speaker 1: It really is. It feels like I can't believe they
[10:38] Speaker 1: haven't banned this yet.
[10:40] Speaker 3: Please keep it. I mean, I think it's part of
[10:42] Speaker 3: the charm. Yeah, some places I think are like moving
[10:44] Speaker 3: away from it in the Year of Our Lord twenty
[10:46] Speaker 3: twenty five. But I'm like, you're not a true casino. No, no, no,
[10:50] Speaker 3: If you don't.
[10:50] Speaker 1: Reek and if they want gen z, they need to
[10:54] Speaker 1: keep the cigarettes.
[10:55] Speaker 3: Well the gen z they're smoking stokes.
[10:56] Speaker 1: They love a sig.
[10:57] Speaker 3: They're going for SIGs. They're kind of like they're getting
[11:00] Speaker 3: off the baba the vape. Nice. Yeah, just fucking blast
[11:03] Speaker 3: to see.
[11:04] Speaker 1: They're the same thing.
[11:05] Speaker 3: Yeah, I would argue maybe worse prop I don't know, Yeah,
[11:08] Speaker 3: we don't know what the science ripping it in your
[11:11] Speaker 3: house now, Yes.
[11:13] Speaker 1: And a cigarettes kind of a more of a leather jacket.
[11:15] Speaker 3: For sure.
[11:16] Speaker 1: You're not you're not vaping off like a You're not
[11:19] Speaker 1: sitting on a motorcycle vaping, I hope not. No, you're
[11:22] Speaker 1: not on your Harley. You're not at a slot machine
[11:25] Speaker 1: with a vape.
[11:26] Speaker 3: No. No, If you are, you're losing.
[11:28] Speaker 1: You're losing that. The secret to slot machines got genuine
[11:32] Speaker 1: to back. Yeah, back to the Walmart just briefly. When
[11:38] Speaker 1: was the last time you were in there?
[11:39] Speaker 3: I was actually there pretty recently for what reason. I
[11:43] Speaker 3: needed uh like three international food items that that they
[11:49] Speaker 3: tend to carry, such as I needed goju chong okay,
[11:53] Speaker 3: you would be a fermented bean paste like a cream
[11:55] Speaker 3: bean paste. I needed jerk chicken seasoning that they have there.
[11:59] Speaker 3: They have like a I forget what it's called, but
[12:01] Speaker 3: it's like a jarred and what it was the other
[12:04] Speaker 3: thing I think like, uh like a mirran like rice
[12:09] Speaker 3: wine vinegar.
[12:10] Speaker 1: This feels like you were creating a chopped basket.
[12:14] Speaker 3: It was one meal and then I just like, I
[12:15] Speaker 3: need a.
[12:16] Speaker 1: Chicken for the pantry right er pantry?
[12:19] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[12:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Wow, you make a lot of jerk chicken.
[12:22] Speaker 3: I used to work in a Jamaican food truck. Really yeah,
[12:28] Speaker 3: as a chef, I cook, I'll cook. Yeah, I mean
[12:32] Speaker 3: like on a food truck, everybody kind of does everything.
[12:35] Speaker 3: It's kind of like just all hands on deck. So yeah,
[12:38] Speaker 3: I was cooking, I was prepping, I was cutting, I
[12:40] Speaker 3: was frying, and I was also the token white.
[12:44] Speaker 1: Sure, how did you end up in this truck? I
[12:47] Speaker 1: feel like unless you, like, did you submit an application
[12:51] Speaker 1: to the truck?
[12:52] Speaker 3: It was kind of like a family friend. My mom's
[12:55] Speaker 3: was really close with this guy named Dylan who they
[12:59] Speaker 3: used to work together, and he had a side business
[13:02] Speaker 3: of a Jamaican food truck. He's from Belize. He's Belizean
[13:06] Speaker 3: and cooks really really good Caribbean food with his family.
[13:11] Speaker 3: And during the pandemic, shit was tough. There was no
[13:14] Speaker 3: jobs and I was looking for work and he was
[13:17] Speaker 3: kind enough to like, come work.
[13:19] Speaker 1: On the truck and had you cooked much before this?
[13:22] Speaker 3: My first job was like a dishwasher food prep.
[13:25] Speaker 1: Like way like in my know what was the restaurant?
[13:27] Speaker 3: It wasn't a restaurant. It was called Delightful Dinners like
[13:31] Speaker 3: this and it was essentially like Hello Fresh, but before
[13:39] Speaker 3: so This was a crazy concept, and I wonder how
[13:42] Speaker 3: I would do today. But it was like a bunch
[13:44] Speaker 3: of wine moms would show up, then they drink wine,
[13:48] Speaker 3: and we had these stations that would be a complete meal.
[13:52] Speaker 3: And all of this stuff was pre measured, so it
[13:55] Speaker 3: was like chicken tortilla soup, and this scoop is the
[14:00] Speaker 3: perfect measurement for the amount of buoyan you need, and
[14:02] Speaker 3: this scoop is the perfect for the amount of green
[14:04] Speaker 3: peppers you need. And you'd construct a meal to take
[14:08] Speaker 3: home and freeze to pull out to cook fresh home
[14:13] Speaker 3: ingredient meals.
[14:13] Speaker 1: Right, And what sort of space was this taking place.
[14:18] Speaker 3: It was in like a commercial kitchen space.
[14:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it did well.
[14:22] Speaker 3: No, it lasted like a year and a half, two years,
[14:26] Speaker 3: something like that. Yeah, it was very ahead of itself, right,
[14:31] Speaker 3: And obviously those things are very popular now where it's
[14:33] Speaker 3: like I want fresh ingredients sent to my house so
[14:35] Speaker 3: I can cook and we can bring the family back
[14:38] Speaker 3: to the.
[14:38] Speaker 1: Of course, that's what's wrong with America.
[14:41] Speaker 3: We're not eating together at the table.
[14:44] Speaker 1: Well, but this one would send you allow you to
[14:47] Speaker 1: drive home drunk. Yeah, okay, yeah, interesting.
[14:50] Speaker 3: These women would get hammed. They would just get tanked.
[14:55] Speaker 3: And my boss was very, very Christian guy, and I
[14:58] Speaker 3: always thought it was an interesting moral crossover because he
[15:01] Speaker 3: would make us pray before work and I had to
[15:04] Speaker 3: lie about being religious WHOA to get the job. I
[15:06] Speaker 3: was like, yeah, totally mad, that's really weird. And every
[15:10] Speaker 3: shifted he'd be like, yeah, maybe doing his little shit.
[15:14] Speaker 3: But then you'd also allow people to just get absolutely incinerated.
[15:18] Speaker 1: He's probably running this gym now.
[15:20] Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, yeah, yeah, I wonder I I'd pay five
[15:25] Speaker 3: hundred and fifty bucks to see what that guy's up to,
[15:28] Speaker 3: and no penny more.
[15:29] Speaker 1: I like the extra fifty dollars, a little walking around money.
[15:33] Speaker 1: I worked as. My first job was as a dishwasher.
[15:35] Speaker 1: Well yeah, at both Schlatsky's Delhi and Gecko's Mexican Grill
[15:40] Speaker 1: ooh rip to both of those.
[15:41] Speaker 3: What was the grossest thing that you had to regularly wash?
[15:45] Speaker 1: Oh that's a great question. But I later worked at
[15:48] Speaker 1: a bakery where we also had to wash things and
[15:50] Speaker 1: you had to wash out. They would cook full turkeys
[15:53] Speaker 1: in like a tin and like scraping essentially turkey off
[15:58] Speaker 1: of the thing into water hot water. Nightmare. What about you?
[16:02] Speaker 3: I think like sour cream interesting because it curdles under
[16:06] Speaker 3: the heat.
[16:06] Speaker 1: Oh why was it under the heat the.
[16:08] Speaker 3: Heat of the quickly, Yeah, because you're washing with hot
[16:13] Speaker 3: water for sanitation. Hot water, yeah, exactly. And so you'd
[16:17] Speaker 3: be washing out the cabro of a that of sour
[16:20] Speaker 3: cream because the wine moms need it for their Greco
[16:23] Speaker 3: Roman Fiesta chicken or whatever, and you'd wash it and
[16:28] Speaker 3: it would just like curdle, and then the smell would wash. Yeah.
[16:31] Speaker 3: There's a couple of things that like, really, I can
[16:34] Speaker 3: no longer enjoy because I just for to.
[16:37] Speaker 1: Eat sour cream.
[16:38] Speaker 3: No, I'm out interesting, I'm fully out.
[16:40] Speaker 1: People have very strong opinions about sour creams, even while
[16:42] Speaker 1: they're not cleaning it.
[16:43] Speaker 3: I don't get it even before the clean I'm just
[16:45] Speaker 3: it's like, okay, cool, I guess I'll eat some bad milk,
[16:50] Speaker 3: but it cools my burrito down, so I'm I'm winning.
[16:53] Speaker 1: It adds some tangs.
[16:54] Speaker 3: Are you pro sour cream?
[16:56] Speaker 1: I wouldn't say pro is a strong.
[16:59] Speaker 3: FU can love it.
[17:02] Speaker 1: I'm with the sour cream Council. Okay, and everyone, you're
[17:06] Speaker 1: sorry you're morning with a bowl. Okay, that's all I'm saying.
[17:08] Speaker 3: You're on the propaganda train. Man, I fucking smell it
[17:11] Speaker 3: on you.
[17:11] Speaker 1: Get a spoon, get a straw, get into your sour cream. No,
[17:16] Speaker 1: I don't mind.
[17:17] Speaker 3: It neutral a neutral party. Yeah.
[17:20] Speaker 1: When I find it in a burrito, I'm like, well,
[17:21] Speaker 1: they put another ingredient, an ingredient and thank god, bang
[17:24] Speaker 1: for your buck. Yeah, bang for your buck. I would
[17:27] Speaker 1: prefer guacamole in the place of that. How do you
[17:29] Speaker 1: feel about crimme fresh?
[17:31] Speaker 3: I'm just kind of not on the krema, the crem
[17:34] Speaker 3: and the cream.
[17:35] Speaker 1: You won't do it.
[17:36] Speaker 3: I don't even really do Mayo.
[17:37] Speaker 1: Mao is another category.
[17:39] Speaker 3: I'll hit an aoli maybe interesting, maybe right, And that's
[17:43] Speaker 3: just I guess good marketing.
[17:45] Speaker 1: It is because it is mayo. It's the same it
[17:47] Speaker 1: is with some sort of flavors.
[17:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, you put a little garlic or a little steak
[17:51] Speaker 3: in there, some.
[17:54] Speaker 1: Uh no mayonnaise. I've like learned to deal with.
[17:58] Speaker 3: I can like be a big boy, be like okay, fine,
[18:01] Speaker 3: I'm gonna eat it. I'll try, but I don't get it.
[18:03] Speaker 3: I don't get what we're getting out of it, right,
[18:05] Speaker 3: I guess compared to you, like a mustard or just
[18:08] Speaker 3: the taste of salami. The taste is I don't eat
[18:10] Speaker 3: it more wet man.
[18:12] Speaker 1: Some sandwhich is the bread is too dry and you
[18:15] Speaker 1: need something there to wet it up. And whose fault that's,
[18:19] Speaker 1: you know, ultimately the baker. And we've got to go
[18:21] Speaker 1: all the way back. It's not even the restaurant, it's
[18:24] Speaker 1: the baker.
[18:24] Speaker 3: I say, we blame the farmers, but if we should
[18:26] Speaker 3: just get back to the grain, the dry grain.
[18:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, whoever was the person with the scythe ultimately is
[18:33] Speaker 1: to blame for mayonnaise. No. I I can eat essentially anything.
[18:39] Speaker 1: I had something to eat recently that i've I wish
[18:41] Speaker 1: I could remember. It was. Oh, it was a tuna melt. Okay,
[18:44] Speaker 1: first time eating a tuna melt.
[18:46] Speaker 3: It was your first time?
[18:47] Speaker 1: Last time? Only made it halfway through?
[18:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, what did you not like about it?
[18:52] Speaker 1: It was heavy, it was wet, it was hot fish. Yeah,
[18:57] Speaker 1: it's so soft.
[18:58] Speaker 3: I'm right there with you, buddy. Have you had one before?
[19:01] Speaker 3: I have not?
[19:01] Speaker 1: Okay, I don't eat fish. You don't eat fish.
[19:04] Speaker 3: I don't really like fish.
[19:04] Speaker 1: Okay, Well, then this is gonna be a taste.
[19:06] Speaker 3: Like drowning to me. It has a I think I
[19:09] Speaker 3: have like a maybe a bit of a trauma trigger.
[19:13] Speaker 1: Right, have you drowned?
[19:15] Speaker 3: I'm currently not currently not so. I grew up in Sokel, right,
[19:22] Speaker 3: we could ride the shitty bus to the beach, sure,
[19:25] Speaker 3: And I feel like the culture of being a kid
[19:29] Speaker 3: was like you swim until you almost drown and then
[19:32] Speaker 3: you go in and that's when you're done. At beautiful beach.
[19:37] Speaker 3: And there was a couple of times where you're there's
[19:39] Speaker 3: a couple of times where you're really like having fun
[19:41] Speaker 3: and you're being a young man, and then you get
[19:44] Speaker 3: caught in a riptid and you're like, don't know, I
[19:46] Speaker 3: honestly don't know about this one, right, and then you
[19:48] Speaker 3: like barely and it's like that's kind of the same
[19:52] Speaker 3: taste as fish.
[19:53] Speaker 1: Is that like, yeah, no, I was in the ocean
[19:57] Speaker 1: for the first time in a long time recently, and
[19:59] Speaker 1: it's way scarier than I expected.
[20:02] Speaker 3: If. Yeah, man, it is really out of control. It's
[20:05] Speaker 3: it's you have to really respect it. Yes, it's not
[20:09] Speaker 3: a lake, it's not a river. No, it's so different,
[20:12] Speaker 3: and you can get tricked. You can be like, oh,
[20:14] Speaker 3: it's calm, the waves are only two feet and then
[20:16] Speaker 3: for whatever reason, there's just like a six foot set
[20:19] Speaker 3: and you're fucked horrifying.
[20:21] Speaker 1: Do you know Josh Sharp no comedian Josh He drowned
[20:25] Speaker 1: in Mexico. I guess, like technically, does when you drown
[20:29] Speaker 1: do you die? Or is it he was knocked out
[20:32] Speaker 1: and washed up on the shore basically, And.
[20:34] Speaker 3: I think to me, that's cause of death, right, like,
[20:39] Speaker 3: drown is I think you almost drowned, almost dround. Yeah,
[20:42] Speaker 3: to me, drown is dead. And even though we can
[20:44] Speaker 3: look that up.
[20:46] Speaker 1: Jamie, what is the final word on drowning?
[20:51] Speaker 3: Yeah, I would really like to get to the bottom
[20:54] Speaker 3: of that. It looks as if, yes, it's it's pretty final.
[20:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, that's the final word. Okay, So he almost around,
[21:00] Speaker 1: but like to the point that, like some his brain
[21:04] Speaker 1: I think essentially kind of shut down for a minute.
[21:06] Speaker 1: And to me, it's like, okay, if.
[21:07] Speaker 3: You cross over, I'll give it to you.
[21:09] Speaker 1: If yeah, then you have a best seller on your hands,
[21:17] Speaker 1: all kinds of I mean, your career opens up in
[21:20] Speaker 1: a hue.
[21:20] Speaker 3: I wish I could write an angel book. I know
[21:25] Speaker 3: it would be good that book tour, Go.
[21:28] Speaker 1: Be Reckless in the ocean, go for it. Are you
[21:31] Speaker 1: a beach guy in general?
[21:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm kind of like for me unfortunately a classic
[21:36] Speaker 3: so Calcy.
[21:37] Speaker 1: You have a bit of a beach vibe.
[21:39] Speaker 3: Thank you. I really appreciate you.
[21:40] Speaker 1: This is not a bad thing. It's a good thing.
[21:42] Speaker 3: I like all versions of going to the beach. But
[21:46] Speaker 3: I'm a guy who's like I'm gonna get there early
[21:47] Speaker 3: and I'm going to stay all day.
[21:50] Speaker 1: And are you reading? What are you doing? You're playing
[21:51] Speaker 1: in the sand, You're splashing in the water.
[21:53] Speaker 3: All of it, Wow, all of it. You're I think
[21:57] Speaker 3: it's a great way to like get away from the
[21:59] Speaker 3: phone for like an extenule time. Or I think a
[22:02] Speaker 3: lot of it is just like focusing on kind of
[22:05] Speaker 3: like doing nothing and enjoying just like the sounds and
[22:08] Speaker 3: the sights, and like maybe you're with some friends and
[22:11] Speaker 3: so you've got like some fellowship and community, and it's
[22:14] Speaker 3: kind of about the nothingness of it, right, and then
[22:17] Speaker 3: you get to fill that nothing with like little things
[22:19] Speaker 3: and it's sand castle time and it's swim time, and
[22:21] Speaker 3: it's like go for a walk time or nap time.
[22:24] Speaker 1: You're making this sound way more appealing to me because
[22:26] Speaker 1: I just think I'm tired and there's an hour drive
[22:30] Speaker 1: home and I want to take a shower.
[22:33] Speaker 3: So I think that maybe if you thought about it,
[22:35] Speaker 3: is like it's a whole day. It's like Disneyland, Right,
[22:38] Speaker 3: it's not. It's not a three hour you pop in
[22:40] Speaker 3: and then go home. Right, you're going to do the
[22:43] Speaker 3: whole thing, right, Yeah, but it is a lot of sun.
[22:45] Speaker 3: You gotta be careful.
[22:46] Speaker 1: I know, I feel like do tan.
[22:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of get a little alliver.
[22:50] Speaker 1: Okay, you're very lucky for me, not a you're a
[22:53] Speaker 1: little more fair there. Yes, So there's a lot of
[22:57] Speaker 1: worrying about reapplying the sunscreen and have I got enough
[23:01] Speaker 1: on in the first place.
[23:02] Speaker 3: Look the tent technology in the last five years, Kent technology,
[23:06] Speaker 3: it's gotten crazy for beachwear, Like what people are just
[23:10] Speaker 3: there's all these like things that you can just pop
[23:12] Speaker 3: up and all of a sudden you're shaded. And it's
[23:14] Speaker 3: like I would have loved that when I was a kid. Right,
[23:16] Speaker 3: there's all these like and it's just the wind and
[23:19] Speaker 3: it just uses the wind to keep up and you're
[23:21] Speaker 3: shaded and wow, yeah.
[23:24] Speaker 1: Not doing anything for anyone.
[23:26] Speaker 3: Old school at this point.
[23:28] Speaker 1: Pass oh, I would say a fallacy the umbrella phallasy.
[23:31] Speaker 3: Logical fallacies you got to get one of these sun
[23:35] Speaker 3: the sun umbrella. I don't even know what they're called.
[23:37] Speaker 3: There the text amazing.
[23:38] Speaker 1: Well, I know what parking lot to go to the ARII, Walmart, Target,
[23:41] Speaker 1: Old Suppora.
[23:42] Speaker 3: Parking Lot, best Buy.
[23:45] Speaker 1: They got it all, They've got it.
[23:46] Speaker 3: All, got Wendy's, and then you can go get Backstakhoffs.
[23:50] Speaker 3: Give me a bloomin. Let's get a bloomin after this,
[23:53] Speaker 3: Let's cut the pod now and go get a bloom and.
[23:59] Speaker 1: Well, as much as I'd like to keep talking about
[24:00] Speaker 1: that parking lot, I feel like there's something else we
[24:02] Speaker 1: should I don't want to talk about it. I didn't
[24:04] Speaker 1: even want to bring it up. Yere honest, But you know,
[24:08] Speaker 1: I thought Jacob's wonderful friend of a friend of friends.
[24:12] Speaker 1: I think a lot of people can vouch for this guy.
[24:14] Speaker 1: He'll come on the podcast, we'll have a nice time
[24:17] Speaker 1: and then move on with our days. Maybe split a blueman.
[24:20] Speaker 1: The podcast is called I said no gifts, so I
[24:23] Speaker 1: was a little I was surprised when you showed up
[24:27] Speaker 1: today holding this gorgeous gift in this stunning kind of
[24:33] Speaker 1: magenta pink sparkling bag.
[24:35] Speaker 3: I can't show up. I'm empty handed. It rude friends.
[24:39] Speaker 1: Okay, well if you if we're friends, I'm always looking
[24:41] Speaker 1: for new friends.
[24:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't enter a new friend situation empty hand
[24:45] Speaker 3: and it's so rude.
[24:46] Speaker 1: Okay, well that's a perfectly good excuse. Should I open
[24:49] Speaker 1: it here on the podcast?
[24:50] Speaker 3: I would be honored if you opened it. Okay, let's
[24:52] Speaker 3: get in there and just have fun.
[24:58] Speaker 1: The front of this has got a nice there's a
[25:00] Speaker 1: feel to it.
[25:01] Speaker 3: I don't know if you might take some glitter away
[25:03] Speaker 3: with you.
[25:03] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, not yet.
[25:07] Speaker 3: That's almost the same as Mr for that.
[25:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, very nice. Okay, let's reach in here pulling out. Okay,
[25:15] Speaker 1: now we've got a lot of tiss.
[25:16] Speaker 3: Okay, it's in that. Okay, it's in the baggy. I
[25:20] Speaker 3: did sort of a classic small Oh my.
[25:22] Speaker 1: God, this is so small.
[25:24] Speaker 3: Yeah. I did sort of a classic small gift in
[25:26] Speaker 3: a big bag.
[25:26] Speaker 1: It's okay, we've got the tissue. Okay, now we can
[25:30] Speaker 1: get rid of this. Also, there's let's not forget a
[25:33] Speaker 1: paper clip.
[25:34] Speaker 3: That's also part of it.
[25:34] Speaker 1: This is part of the gift.
[25:35] Speaker 3: That's I brought you two tabs of really good acid
[25:40] Speaker 3: and a mushroom.
[25:44] Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, do you grow your own mushrooms.
[25:47] Speaker 3: I don't don't, but I got a nice I got
[25:49] Speaker 3: a nice mushroom guy. Uh, I just go to this
[25:53] Speaker 3: kind of weird warehouse that changes locations throughout the city.
[25:57] Speaker 3: What you get like a he kind of like there's
[26:00] Speaker 3: a guy and he like is like we're on sixteenth
[26:03] Speaker 3: Street today. And you go and there's a warehouse and
[26:05] Speaker 3: they pat you down and there's a bunch of people
[26:07] Speaker 3: selling mushrooms and weed, And.
[26:10] Speaker 1: Does it feel illegal? How illegal is this drug trade?
[26:15] Speaker 1: That's my question because it's so harmless.
[26:18] Speaker 3: I mean, if it was just weed, I would say
[26:23] Speaker 3: that it's gray markets, the term where it's like semi legal,
[26:27] Speaker 3: where I think they're probably growing it legally. They have
[26:29] Speaker 3: the paperwork to grow legally, it's just like the business license, yeah,
[26:33] Speaker 3: Or they're not selling it in a brick and mortar
[26:35] Speaker 3: in a way that you normally would, or they're not
[26:37] Speaker 3: following regulations of like packaging and testing.
[26:39] Speaker 1: And stuff like that, just like selling milk.
[26:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's like selling raw milk, raw milk. But
[26:47] Speaker 3: as soon as you put like the mushrooms and stuff
[26:50] Speaker 3: into the equation, I do think it becomes black market,
[26:53] Speaker 3: significantly more black market wild Yeah.
[26:56] Speaker 1: How did you find out about this particular business.
[27:00] Speaker 3: So it's an interesting little set of situation. Like I
[27:06] Speaker 3: stopped buying weed from clinics, okay, because it's like bad.
[27:11] Speaker 1: I think it's bad in one way. If you feel
[27:14] Speaker 1: like it's bad weed.
[27:14] Speaker 3: I think it's bad weed. I think it's like too expensive.
[27:17] Speaker 3: I think it's like overtaxed. It's like not really thinking
[27:21] Speaker 3: about like the growers. It's turning into this like big
[27:24] Speaker 3: sort of like it's just another capitalistic Marborough sort of
[27:28] Speaker 3: total space and all the weeds kind of old and
[27:31] Speaker 3: it all has to get sent off and it has
[27:32] Speaker 3: to get tested, and you can't smell it, and like
[27:35] Speaker 3: back in the day, you go to a clinic and
[27:36] Speaker 3: you'd like open a jar and be like this seems
[27:39] Speaker 3: nice for.
[27:39] Speaker 1: Me, almost like on the prairie you would go to
[27:41] Speaker 1: the apothecarya.
[27:42] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. So I ran into some guy
[27:44] Speaker 3: at a punk show who was like he had like
[27:46] Speaker 3: a little set up at the punk show, okay, like
[27:48] Speaker 3: a couple of jars and he's like selling pre rolled
[27:51] Speaker 3: joints and stuff like that. So I like got his
[27:53] Speaker 3: information and he sold me like weed and mushrooms for
[27:58] Speaker 3: for like a year, and then ominously he came over
[28:01] Speaker 3: one day and he was like, Hey, I just want
[28:03] Speaker 3: to let you know, like I'm getting out of the game,
[28:05] Speaker 3: Like I'm not going to be selling drugs anymore. Like
[28:09] Speaker 3: I'm going to go back to being an air conditioner tech.
[28:13] Speaker 3: I think it's a better move for me. And I
[28:17] Speaker 3: was like, okay, yeah, like thanks for everything, man, And
[28:19] Speaker 3: like over the year we had like you know, he'd
[28:22] Speaker 3: come to the house and we'd have a chat and
[28:25] Speaker 3: ask him about his life, and we had a nice
[28:27] Speaker 3: little report and I'd see him at a punk store
[28:28] Speaker 3: every now and then. But then he did something really weird.
[28:32] Speaker 3: Not weird, he did something interesting that he left behind,
[28:37] Speaker 3: like a piece of paper that had an Instagram handla,
[28:44] Speaker 3: and he didn't say anything anything, and I like followed
[28:48] Speaker 3: that handle and it was too one of these accounts
[28:52] Speaker 3: that works in this sort of like gray market space.
[28:56] Speaker 3: And so then essentially what he did was like connect
[29:01] Speaker 3: me with his supplier. Right, So he's like, I buy wholesale. Wow,
[29:06] Speaker 3: So I buy a couple of pounds, right, and then
[29:08] Speaker 3: I sell you know, ounces or whatever to you and
[29:11] Speaker 3: your people. So he basically like connected me to the whole.
[29:17] Speaker 1: What's the breaking bad guy's name.
[29:19] Speaker 3: It's not that big. I'm not hanging out too.
[29:23] Speaker 1: He has an underground layer yeah uh yeah.
[29:26] Speaker 3: So and then I've just like gotten to know these
[29:28] Speaker 3: people that it's essentially like a farmer's market, okay, where
[29:31] Speaker 3: it pops up in these different locations and you can
[29:35] Speaker 3: go and smell it like he used to. And there's
[29:36] Speaker 3: a lot of different like independent growers and stuff like that.
[29:40] Speaker 2: Uh.
[29:41] Speaker 1: Their instagram, they got got good grid, good story.
[29:44] Speaker 3: Nothing on the grid.
[29:45] Speaker 1: Nothing on the grid, because if you like post stuff.
[29:47] Speaker 3: About weed, it gets taken down and it's like one
[29:49] Speaker 3: of those things where it's like often the Instagram does
[29:51] Speaker 3: go down and then they have to like start over
[29:54] Speaker 3: with like XX.
[29:56] Speaker 1: Give me a break yea yeah, and so you just
[29:58] Speaker 1: go to random warehouses. When you first followed the instagram,
[30:01] Speaker 1: do you like, how do you approach Oh, I know
[30:04] Speaker 1: this guy.
[30:05] Speaker 3: I just I was yeah, I just was like so
[30:08] Speaker 3: and so uh like the name of the guy or
[30:13] Speaker 3: his like you know, nickname or whatever. It was like connect.
[30:15] Speaker 3: It was like I know, blah blah blah. And they're like, great,
[30:18] Speaker 3: here's the address Tuesday this time. And then just kind
[30:22] Speaker 3: of like you know, you go to a farmer's market.
[30:25] Speaker 3: A couple of times people start to remember you. You
[30:27] Speaker 3: just kind of get.
[30:28] Speaker 1: You're part of the community.
[30:29] Speaker 3: I'm in the system.
[30:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, and how often are you going?
[30:33] Speaker 3: Oh I like to buy Like I don't like to
[30:36] Speaker 3: go a ton, so I kind of like I'll kind
[30:38] Speaker 3: of buy in bulk by like an ounce or two,
[30:41] Speaker 3: and then you know, maybe go once a month or
[30:43] Speaker 3: whatever and get like my my treats, my medicine, and.
[30:47] Speaker 1: They've got weed, they have mushrooms, they have acid. Yeah,
[30:50] Speaker 1: anything else, No, no, no, because that feels like maybe
[30:54] Speaker 1: but like I'm not you're not going into the other category.
[30:58] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I feel like there's other people if I
[31:01] Speaker 3: had to, there's other people for that. Oh yeah, they're
[31:03] Speaker 3: a little bit more on that.
[31:04] Speaker 1: Like holistic sort of like right, these things are from well.
[31:08] Speaker 3: The acid is like to push Yeah, yeah, how.
[31:11] Speaker 1: Was acid made in a lab?
[31:16] Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know the science.
[31:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never really thought about LSD where it comes from.
[31:22] Speaker 3: This is from. This is the acid separate from the
[31:26] Speaker 3: gray market. I got it from a different oh, a
[31:28] Speaker 3: different place. I don't even know. I don't I got
[31:30] Speaker 3: it from I don't know. I don't know if I
[31:32] Speaker 3: could say.
[31:33] Speaker 1: Right, is it a person or a place?
[31:36] Speaker 3: It's like that's the thing. I'm not one hundred percent sure.
[31:39] Speaker 3: It's just like there's a a collective called the Sorcerer
[31:43] Speaker 3: that connect with on telegram.
[31:45] Speaker 1: I love the mystique.
[31:47] Speaker 3: It's very Yeah, it's interesting.
[31:49] Speaker 1: America needs to get back to eating at the dinner
[31:51] Speaker 1: table and mistique.
[31:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit of mystery is fun and like
[31:55] Speaker 3: it's kind of interesting to be like what warehouse am
[31:57] Speaker 3: I gonna go get my wet today? And I go
[31:59] Speaker 3: to different parts of town and I like, I'm like, great,
[32:02] Speaker 3: I'll get to try a taco shop like a little
[32:04] Speaker 3: further away, or like, oh there's an interesting chili cheese
[32:07] Speaker 3: dogs stand next to it or whatever.
[32:09] Speaker 1: And are the people you're dealing with do they feel
[32:10] Speaker 1: like drug dealers or are they just some?
[32:13] Speaker 3: Do some feel like true like cultivators, they feel like,
[32:16] Speaker 3: you know, they're just like I grow great weed. And
[32:19] Speaker 3: then there are people who are like, I'm here to
[32:22] Speaker 3: sell sixty pounds weed right and make my money. And
[32:26] Speaker 3: I'm kind of an intense I have an intense brow.
[32:32] Speaker 1: How often are you doing mushrooms?
[32:35] Speaker 3: Not? I like a microdose? Okay, I like it's it's
[32:38] Speaker 3: Saturday night. We might go somewhere where there's like a
[32:41] Speaker 3: little bit of dancing and to just like eat a
[32:44] Speaker 3: little guy, right, and like I can still have a conversation,
[32:47] Speaker 3: and I like, I am not going to get to
[32:49] Speaker 3: like whoa right, my legs, what are they?
[32:53] Speaker 1: Tears are running down my face? Yeah, yeah yah laughing.
[32:57] Speaker 3: But a big dose I probably like at this point,
[33:00] Speaker 3: I mean, I've done it. Like, once you've done the
[33:01] Speaker 3: big guys, right, you kind of you kind of get it.
[33:04] Speaker 3: Kind of there's like all you know, there's only so
[33:07] Speaker 3: many lessons in life.
[33:08] Speaker 1: There's only so many revelations you can have.
[33:11] Speaker 3: And not saying I'm opposed to getting anymore, but it's
[33:14] Speaker 3: like I've done it. I've done the like big trips,
[33:17] Speaker 3: and I think it's more fun to just like, yeah,
[33:19] Speaker 3: we're like at a cabin, so everybody's gonna eat a
[33:21] Speaker 3: little bit more than a micro We're gonna do macro dose.
[33:24] Speaker 3: I feel a little giggly and like our tummy will
[33:27] Speaker 3: be a little rumbly.
[33:28] Speaker 1: But have you had any bad trips? For sure? What's
[33:31] Speaker 1: the open to talking about? Absolutely you've had.
[33:37] Speaker 3: Top of mind because I was just kind of talking
[33:39] Speaker 3: about this. There was like anytime I've done mushrooms in
[33:43] Speaker 3: like a large, large group, it's always a little more challenging.
[33:47] Speaker 1: Right, the anxiety that I mean, there are more random factors.
[33:50] Speaker 3: Yes, And there's like slightly different doses and like different
[33:53] Speaker 3: needs and like different sort of desires and like comforts,
[33:58] Speaker 3: and everybody's so amp athetic in a way that's like
[34:01] Speaker 3: almost the politeness gets in its own way. Oh, sure,
[34:04] Speaker 3: after you, after you, after you, but then nobody's doing anything.
[34:08] Speaker 3: I remember we were like at a cabin in Big Bear.
[34:12] Speaker 3: It was like a group of my improv buddies, and
[34:17] Speaker 3: it was one of the first trips that I had
[34:19] Speaker 3: taken with this like group of friends. And we all
[34:24] Speaker 3: ate some mushrooms and somebody was talking about that they
[34:29] Speaker 3: had found a recording of what the Earth sounded like
[34:33] Speaker 3: from space. It was like a sonic This could go
[34:36] Speaker 3: in any direction. And we were all seated in front
[34:41] Speaker 3: of this like big window, like looking out at the
[34:44] Speaker 3: view seeing the pines and stuff, and music was playing. Sure,
[34:49] Speaker 3: and they like had just talked about this like earth sound,
[34:53] Speaker 3: and it was playing and it was not what I
[34:55] Speaker 3: expected it to be. It was more melodic. Oh, and
[34:59] Speaker 3: it turns out that it was not what was playing
[35:01] Speaker 3: was not the Earth sound. But I went like, wait,
[35:05] Speaker 3: so this is Earth. I was like, wait, so this
[35:10] Speaker 3: is Earth, and like I became misunderstood in that moment,
[35:17] Speaker 3: and they thought I was like talking about.
[35:19] Speaker 1: Like, oh, what you're looking at in that like I.
[35:22] Speaker 3: Think there was like a perception that I was like
[35:24] Speaker 3: a little further along than everybody. And then they were like, yeah, man,
[35:29] Speaker 3: this like and everybody was like laughing, like yeah it's Earth, man, haha.
[35:32] Speaker 3: And I was like trying to communicate, like, no, not
[35:36] Speaker 3: what we're looking at, Like somebody was talking about playing
[35:40] Speaker 3: this music that was the same, and I like couldn't
[35:43] Speaker 3: articulate what was going on. And it was like everybody
[35:48] Speaker 3: was just like laughing and they're having a good charm
[35:51] Speaker 3: and we're comedians, we want to make people laugh. But
[35:54] Speaker 3: it was making me feel a little nuts, of course,
[35:57] Speaker 3: and I couldn't like communicate.
[36:00] Speaker 1: You're mildly confused, and now you can't communicate or express
[36:03] Speaker 1: yourself in the correct way.
[36:05] Speaker 3: And everybody's been like and their faces are like and
[36:13] Speaker 3: so I like kind of played it. I just like
[36:16] Speaker 3: muted myself and I like got really inside myself. And
[36:21] Speaker 3: was like, it's fine, you were just misunderstood and that's fine.
[36:24] Speaker 3: And that kind of turned into like an earworm that
[36:27] Speaker 3: burrowed its way like through my my psyche and I
[36:31] Speaker 3: had to go and I just like like I just
[36:34] Speaker 3: left and I didn't tell anybody, and I like was
[36:37] Speaker 3: gone for like two and a half hours, just like
[36:39] Speaker 3: tripping sack like around this weird kind of like remote
[36:44] Speaker 3: big bear area and I'm just like wandering through these
[36:48] Speaker 3: neighborhoods just being like does anybody get me? And I
[36:54] Speaker 3: remember like finding myself like in a yard with dogs
[36:58] Speaker 3: and being like this is where I need. This is good.
[37:01] Speaker 3: And I'm like in a yard like somebody's property, like
[37:04] Speaker 3: hanging out with their dogs, and I'm like going up
[37:07] Speaker 3: to trees and hugging, and then like I get really
[37:09] Speaker 3: sick and I like have to go puke like in
[37:13] Speaker 3: some like person's like you know, like neighborhood menace, yeah, man,
[37:17] Speaker 3: And the worst of it is like I kind of
[37:19] Speaker 3: came back and like after two hours that like the trip,
[37:22] Speaker 3: the the peaking of the trip had had subsided and
[37:26] Speaker 3: I was feeling a little more regular, right, And I
[37:28] Speaker 3: went back to the house and it was all locked.
[37:32] Speaker 3: The whole house was locked, and it was like quite quiet,
[37:36] Speaker 3: and then I there was like three Zachs at the party,
[37:42] Speaker 3: and I just remember like looking at my phone and
[37:45] Speaker 3: like trying to get to Zach. But it's like all
[37:51] Speaker 3: the way. So I'm going through like everybody I've ever
[37:55] Speaker 3: like ever interacted well, and I'm just thinking about like
[37:58] Speaker 3: everybody that's ever been in my life because I'm looking at.
[38:02] Speaker 1: You everything they thought about where And then.
[38:05] Speaker 3: I can't figure it out and I am overwhelmed and
[38:08] Speaker 3: I can't get to Zee, and I'm just like i
[38:10] Speaker 3: just got to call one Zach. So then I'm like
[38:13] Speaker 3: banging on this door trying to get in, but I
[38:18] Speaker 3: scared every dingy.
[38:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, of course now they're freaking out.
[38:21] Speaker 3: I like me, and this is like the type of
[38:23] Speaker 3: person I am, like, I'm kind of like comfort first,
[38:26] Speaker 3: total people pleaser, Like to send alarm to a group
[38:30] Speaker 3: of people is like maybe the darkest place I could
[38:34] Speaker 3: accidentally find myself. And I har es so much and
[38:39] Speaker 3: I'm just like, God, I'm here, and then you know.
[38:44] Speaker 1: Everybody's like like who is out?
[38:46] Speaker 3: Yes, yes, And it was this like total push and
[38:50] Speaker 3: pull of like and then finally somebody was like, Oh,
[38:54] Speaker 3: it's you. Where have you been? And I just was
[38:56] Speaker 3: like I kind of freaked out and I'm I'm here now.
[38:58] Speaker 3: And I think they were like all playing like ID
[39:00] Speaker 3: and seek or something, so like they were like in
[39:03] Speaker 3: the dark hiding, and then it was like.
[39:08] Speaker 1: How did someone not die? During?
[39:10] Speaker 3: Three people passed away? And that was one of the
[39:15] Speaker 3: tough ones because it was like, I think I've had
[39:17] Speaker 3: worse trips, but I'm on my own right, And I
[39:20] Speaker 3: think it was that like interfacing of like newer friends
[39:23] Speaker 3: and more intimate settings and kind of upsetting them where
[39:25] Speaker 3: I was like I carried it a lot. And what's
[39:28] Speaker 3: funny is I feel like if you asked anybody there,
[39:30] Speaker 3: their version of the story was like I said a
[39:32] Speaker 3: funny joke and then I like knocked a little too
[39:34] Speaker 3: hard on the door.
[39:35] Speaker 1: Later little did they know.
[39:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just like.
[39:40] Speaker 1: This was like a chemical reaction. This is like what's
[39:42] Speaker 1: going on side and Adam, I can't go further.
[39:45] Speaker 3: I wasn't great.
[39:48] Speaker 1: They're all bouncing against each other and freaking each other out.
[39:51] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[39:52] Speaker 1: Wow, the domino effect of that is pretty wide.
[39:54] Speaker 3: It was a wild time and it like you know,
[39:57] Speaker 3: it evened out right bounced itself out. I aimed into
[40:00] Speaker 3: the house and everything was fine.
[40:02] Speaker 1: Was it one of those ones where it's like, I'm
[40:03] Speaker 1: going to take a little time off of mushrooms And
[40:06] Speaker 1: I was like, well, everyone has a bad experience.
[40:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I was probably like, cool, I'm not
[40:12] Speaker 3: going to probably do that for six months two years?
[40:14] Speaker 1: Right, it was enough for the year.
[40:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good. I was good on that.
[40:18] Speaker 1: At least it wasn't boring.
[40:19] Speaker 3: It was electric.
[40:23] Speaker 1: I don't quite know the difference between mushrooms and acid,
[40:25] Speaker 1: like the experience.
[40:28] Speaker 3: Have you done either, I've done mushrooms cool, So.
[40:30] Speaker 1: Just once that when it was lovely and it was
[40:32] Speaker 1: like one of these things where like I don't know
[40:34] Speaker 1: if I want to have one of these experience.
[40:36] Speaker 3: Sure, did you get like the wavy or was it
[40:38] Speaker 3: just like everything?
[40:39] Speaker 1: But I will say it was like in twenty fourteen
[40:42] Speaker 1: when all of the Bill Cosby allegations were starting to
[40:45] Speaker 1: come out and ride as it started.
[40:48] Speaker 3: You're so sad, that is your boy crying?
[40:52] Speaker 1: Why calling my senator?
[40:56] Speaker 3: No?
[40:56] Speaker 1: I rides it started to hit. We were in a
[40:59] Speaker 1: cabin and they have like books, you know, and I
[41:01] Speaker 1: was wandering around the cabin and truly as a hit.
[41:04] Speaker 1: I found Bill Cosby's book this giant picture of his face,
[41:06] Speaker 1: and it was one of the weirdest experiences looking at
[41:08] Speaker 1: Bill Cosby being deeply, deeply tripping on mushrooms. Something I'll
[41:15] Speaker 1: never forget. Yeah, his face burned into my brain forever.
[41:18] Speaker 3: Hello.
[41:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, so that could have really gone in a bad direction.
[41:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, for sure, But it sounds it sounds
[41:25] Speaker 3: kind of funny.
[41:26] Speaker 1: It was kind of fun I think that they fund
[41:29] Speaker 1: but yeah, that's all I've ever done. And it was wonderful,
[41:31] Speaker 1: and it was wavy and very visual. I was say,
[41:36] Speaker 1: I ate some pineapple and it felt like I was
[41:38] Speaker 1: eating gold bars, that kind of thing.
[41:40] Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the best way to kind of equate it.
[41:44] Speaker 3: I'm going to attempt a new analogy. I feel like
[41:47] Speaker 3: mushrooms is a bicycle and acid is an e bike.
[41:50] Speaker 1: Oh interesting, So one's bad.
[41:53] Speaker 3: One's much I think, much more intense. Or it's like
[41:57] Speaker 3: it's a very similar experience, Like it's a psychdelic It
[42:00] Speaker 3: allows you to kind of like look at something and
[42:04] Speaker 3: it can kind of change shape. And I think they're
[42:06] Speaker 3: both similar, but it's like acids twice the length. Okay,
[42:11] Speaker 3: I think it can get like far more intense visually,
[42:14] Speaker 3: far far more intense visually, and it's like technically a
[42:18] Speaker 3: little bit more of like an upper and it can
[42:20] Speaker 3: really like I think your noggin is like really turned
[42:25] Speaker 3: on and you're thinking very fast in your range, just
[42:28] Speaker 3: like unless you're kind of scared, I think, because like
[42:34] Speaker 3: you can push it out and then you're like, oh, whoa,
[42:37] Speaker 3: the clouds are turning into faces of men, right, and
[42:39] Speaker 3: then that's really fun and nice, right, yeah.
[42:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, Whereas mushrooms it's a little more laid back, a
[42:44] Speaker 1: little bit more uh.
[42:46] Speaker 3: I think it's just not as like computeristic or like
[42:51] Speaker 3: it's like less tron more fern gully. Like there's just
[42:55] Speaker 3: like an organicness and like a violin isn't the right word,
[43:00] Speaker 3: but it is also the right word, you know, because
[43:03] Speaker 3: there's a lot of people who like the acids easier
[43:05] Speaker 3: for them because there's no tummy like it necessarily as emotional.
[43:09] Speaker 3: I think it's a little more cerebral, okay, and like
[43:13] Speaker 3: technical in a way where you're like.
[43:15] Speaker 1: It's a dude to your taxes, for example, this is
[43:17] Speaker 1: the drug you would want to be.
[43:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're having like profound thoughts but I
[43:22] Speaker 3: don't think there. It's more like the world and like
[43:24] Speaker 3: the systems and like patterns and like well the leaf
[43:28] Speaker 3: and like you're it's not like I'm good, right, I'm
[43:32] Speaker 3: thankful for myself. I don't think it's as emotional.
[43:36] Speaker 1: Interesting. Yeah, very interesting, And do remember the first time
[43:39] Speaker 1: you did either?
[43:41] Speaker 3: For sure? First time I tried acid was with like
[43:43] Speaker 3: a really great friend Roger of mine, and we were
[43:45] Speaker 3: at a like the maybe one of the most grimy
[43:48] Speaker 3: parties in like Chino, California that I could ever go to.
[43:50] Speaker 3: It's just like such a fucking just one of those
[43:54] Speaker 3: like sticky. It's like the house becomes sticky. Oh and
[43:58] Speaker 3: we we took acid and it was bunk and we
[44:01] Speaker 3: just kind of like waited for it us to get high,
[44:04] Speaker 3: and it never really quite quite worked, you know.
[44:08] Speaker 1: So they're just like what why did people do this?
[44:10] Speaker 3: Why are we? Yeah, and then I didn't try it
[44:11] Speaker 3: for years because I was like, oh, it's kind of
[44:13] Speaker 3: an omen like maybe I'm not supposed to do this mark.
[44:16] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[44:17] Speaker 3: First time I did mushrooms was at a music festival
[44:21] Speaker 3: in eastern Washington called Sasquatch Okay, And it was like
[44:26] Speaker 3: I was in my I was like twenty three, and
[44:29] Speaker 3: me and my guys fucking road tripped up and camped
[44:33] Speaker 3: in like a cow field and saw all these bands
[44:36] Speaker 3: over three days, and the first night it was really
[44:39] Speaker 3: cool and we were just like enjoyed a full day
[44:43] Speaker 3: of this festival. First time I'd ever been to a
[44:45] Speaker 3: music festival. And We're walking back to camp and I
[44:50] Speaker 3: was like kind of walking alone, and there was just
[44:52] Speaker 3: a dude walking the opposite way, so he was like
[44:54] Speaker 3: kind of headed back towards the venue, sure, and he
[44:57] Speaker 3: just was like, mushrooms twenty five bucks, mushrooms twenty five bucks.
[45:02] Speaker 1: Very peanuts, hot peanuts, five.
[45:05] Speaker 3: Hot peanut, hot peanut, And uh I had twenty five bucks.
[45:11] Speaker 3: It's like literally the master that I.
[45:12] Speaker 1: Had, who ever has twenty five dollars, come, I must
[45:17] Speaker 1: have broken that other twenty for fifteen dollars chicken tender
[45:19] Speaker 1: or something like that.
[45:22] Speaker 3: And uh I just it was kind of a no
[45:25] Speaker 3: thought situation where I was like, this guy's got them.
[45:28] Speaker 3: I'm like at this sort of like a place where.
[45:31] Speaker 1: You do that makes perfect sense.
[45:32] Speaker 3: And me and a buddy split the bag. We split
[45:35] Speaker 3: in eighth the mushrooms and just like completely tripped sack
[45:38] Speaker 3: and we're just It was one of those where I'm
[45:39] Speaker 3: just like laid back, staring at the sky, seeing like
[45:45] Speaker 3: the grid and like seeing it open and being like,
[45:49] Speaker 3: there's so much more and I remember, this is very
[45:52] Speaker 3: silly and who knows, but I remember seeing like people
[45:57] Speaker 3: like angels or like humanoid so you could write the
[46:01] Speaker 3: book maybe maybe.
[46:03] Speaker 1: You shouldn't have to die. You were seeing people at angels.
[46:07] Speaker 3: But they were like seeing me, being like, you're not
[46:09] Speaker 3: supposed to see us.
[46:10] Speaker 1: It was Nancy Reagan's ghost. You aren't supposed to be
[46:13] Speaker 1: on drugs right now here?
[46:14] Speaker 3: What are you doing? And that was really funny that
[46:17] Speaker 3: all these like people were like beyond the veil being
[46:20] Speaker 3: like whoa, hey man, how are you seeing this man?
[46:24] Speaker 3: And it was just so fun. Wow, it was so
[46:27] Speaker 3: fun And it was just like one of those like
[46:30] Speaker 3: I'm perfectly young and like, I mean, I'm just experiencing
[46:33] Speaker 3: why right, And it was really really cool and transformative.
[46:36] Speaker 3: And I always thought mushrooms were gonna be like then
[46:39] Speaker 3: I have to fucking get dreads and like then all
[46:43] Speaker 3: I talk about is how everybody needs to like transform
[46:48] Speaker 3: And it was not that at all, Just like I
[46:51] Speaker 3: did it. It was great.
[46:52] Speaker 1: It was like a little ride you get to go
[46:53] Speaker 1: on and then you get to continue being yourself.
[46:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, I said, you know. I was like, you guys
[46:57] Speaker 3: should try mushrooms. It was pretty fun, but I wasn't
[46:59] Speaker 3: like proselytizing personality. Yeah, that would make fear of mine.
[47:04] Speaker 3: I think that was why it was very apprehensive. For
[47:05] Speaker 3: a long time. A lot of people high school early
[47:09] Speaker 3: college were experimenting with that stuff, and I was like
[47:11] Speaker 3: that kind of like I don't want to be full hippie.
[47:15] Speaker 1: Right that. I feel like that should be more of
[47:17] Speaker 1: anti drug programs, just like you don't want to be annoying.
[47:20] Speaker 3: You don't want to be like a fucking hippie, right, Yeah, No.
[47:23] Speaker 1: One wants to be annoying. I think that would probably
[47:26] Speaker 1: be more effective than being like, well, you're gonna have
[47:28] Speaker 1: the best time of your life, yeah, and then you'll
[47:30] Speaker 1: want to keep doing well. Okay, people aren't.
[47:33] Speaker 3: Going to think you're chill. That would immediately make me
[47:36] Speaker 3: be like I want to do never. I won't to
[47:38] Speaker 3: be chill.
[47:41] Speaker 1: Did you see any music while you were tripping?
[47:43] Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, did you see oh man? I remember
[47:49] Speaker 3: seeing Bonie Verka, which was very like kind of boring
[47:53] Speaker 3: to me.
[47:53] Speaker 1: I'm glad to hear this. I'm not you're not a fan.
[47:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was kind of boring. And then what was
[47:59] Speaker 3: really awesome was my friends loved bony Ver and I
[48:03] Speaker 3: was like this kind of sucks. I'm gonna go, and
[48:05] Speaker 3: they're like, you can't leave, and I just was like,
[48:07] Speaker 3: meet me here, well, meet here at the end of
[48:10] Speaker 3: the night, and I went and saw the lead singer
[48:13] Speaker 3: of LCD sound System did a DJ set, but he
[48:18] Speaker 3: brought a live black choir whoa, and so it was
[48:21] Speaker 3: like this he was playing like gospel music, like E
[48:25] Speaker 3: EDM gospel music, and it was fucking awesome. And it
[48:29] Speaker 3: was in a tent and it was like just like
[48:32] Speaker 3: dancing and it was like so much more fun than
[48:35] Speaker 3: bony Bear, where everybody was just like on their blankets.
[48:38] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and this was just like but it was
[48:41] Speaker 3: also like had that sound liveliness, yes, yes, and like
[48:46] Speaker 3: that sort of like you know, they're like commanding energy
[48:50] Speaker 3: and they're like harnessing energy in a way that was
[48:52] Speaker 3: like so fun.
[48:53] Speaker 1: Were they in like choir robes.
[48:55] Speaker 3: It was like they're on a coral riser and he
[48:57] Speaker 3: was like doing his like spinning, doing the dj shit
[49:00] Speaker 3: and then they would like sing the hooks and stuff
[49:02] Speaker 3: like that. It was so cool cool.
[49:04] Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, why is he still not doing that?
[49:07] Speaker 3: I don't know. And it was like one of those
[49:08] Speaker 3: things where it's like I didn't really know who LCD
[49:11] Speaker 3: sound System was at that point in time. It was
[49:14] Speaker 3: just like I don't want to missay his name, James Murphy. Yeah,
[49:17] Speaker 3: it was just like build as like James Murphy DJ set.
[49:21] Speaker 3: I was like, who's this, who's.
[49:23] Speaker 1: The Mormon Tabernacle quay? Yeah, Wow, that sounds delightful.
[49:33] Speaker 3: It was really special. Yeah.
[49:34] Speaker 1: Do you go to a lot of music festivals?
[49:36] Speaker 3: Not anymore? Not anymore. I went we like went to
[49:39] Speaker 3: that one, kind of got hooked, and then we went
[49:41] Speaker 3: for like several years, you know, three or four years,
[49:45] Speaker 3: and then it closed. It was like no longer.
[49:49] Speaker 1: What was this one called again?
[49:51] Speaker 3: Sasquat Sasquatch?
[49:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, right, Like for.
[49:53] Speaker 3: Whatever reason, they're like, we're not doing it anymore. And
[49:55] Speaker 3: then I kind of stopped and I never went to Coachella.
[49:57] Speaker 1: Coachella sounds too dusty.
[49:59] Speaker 3: Too dusty. There was a little one. It still kind
[50:02] Speaker 3: of exists in La. I think it was like fyf
[50:04] Speaker 3: yess and that would be cool. It'd be like down
[50:06] Speaker 3: at USC like kind of like near the coliseum.
[50:09] Speaker 1: Right within driving distance.
[50:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, that was really fun. Like stuff like that I
[50:13] Speaker 3: think is great. But I think as as like the
[50:18] Speaker 3: older I get, it's like, do I want to stand
[50:20] Speaker 3: around for nine hours? Right? See? Like probably like two
[50:24] Speaker 3: good acts in a span of ten.
[50:27] Speaker 1: Acts or whatever, just under the beating sum.
[50:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm more like I go to gigs a lot.
[50:32] Speaker 3: I still love going to punk music and going to
[50:35] Speaker 3: underground shows and stuff like. That's what I like. Where
[50:37] Speaker 3: I'm like two hours, three hours.
[50:39] Speaker 1: Even that's almost too much. Yeah, when I go see
[50:42] Speaker 1: a favorite band, I'm like, by the encore, I'm essentially
[50:45] Speaker 1: like holding the keys in my pocket.
[50:48] Speaker 3: Are you going to the opener?
[50:50] Speaker 1: If I like them, if I've heard of them, or
[50:52] Speaker 1: if I really like the band and trust their taste.
[50:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, see, that's what I like too. It's like maybe
[50:57] Speaker 3: they're going to put me on and I'll have a
[50:59] Speaker 3: new friend, yes experience.
[51:01] Speaker 1: If it's a band that I'm like just you know,
[51:04] Speaker 1: seventy percent liking, we'll be like, well, I don't need
[51:07] Speaker 1: to waste my time with whatever crap band they've gotten
[51:11] Speaker 1: in front of me, what was least concert you saw.
[51:13] Speaker 3: I went and saw this really cool punk band, hardcore
[51:18] Speaker 3: punk band out of Olympia, Washington called Electric Chair. Oh,
[51:23] Speaker 3: and they're just like the lead singers just like one
[51:27] Speaker 3: of these guys who's just like got so much energy
[51:30] Speaker 3: and he's just such a showman. And the band's really
[51:33] Speaker 3: good and tight, and they like they're clearly rehearsed and
[51:36] Speaker 3: tour all the time, right, and he's just like jumping
[51:39] Speaker 3: around and doing somersaults and like slamming his body around
[51:43] Speaker 3: and it's like really a great perforce.
[51:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, where did this take place?
[51:48] Speaker 3: It's at this place called Five Star Bar in Downtown LA.
[51:51] Speaker 3: That was a pretty iconic punk place in downtown LA
[51:56] Speaker 3: for a while that closed. And then my buddy Dice,
[52:01] Speaker 3: who's like a really big part of like kind of
[52:04] Speaker 3: the DIY punk community in East LA in Los Angeles,
[52:08] Speaker 3: he's running like a lot of really cool underground venues,
[52:12] Speaker 3: gray Market venues, and he and his buddies were like,
[52:15] Speaker 3: we're gonna re open up Five Star Bar to kind
[52:19] Speaker 3: of have like a place for this community to exist.
[52:22] Speaker 3: And he's kind of like it's been a kind of
[52:24] Speaker 3: his own undertaking and he's like revived it in a
[52:27] Speaker 3: really cool, fun way. And it's cool to see like
[52:29] Speaker 3: the city have like a more you know above ground
[52:34] Speaker 3: rue to exist.
[52:36] Speaker 1: And the basement or whatever.
[52:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, like you know a hole in the wall and
[52:41] Speaker 3: skin row right, you know, which is fun and that's sure,
[52:45] Speaker 3: you know, that's where you should go see a bunch
[52:46] Speaker 3: of but it's also nice to just be like I
[52:49] Speaker 3: can get a beer and like there's parking.
[52:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like the closest I've ever come to that,
[52:54] Speaker 1: And I feel like this is like the top is
[52:56] Speaker 1: the smell the smell?
[52:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so it's right next to the smelling literally
[53:00] Speaker 3: like kidty Cat corner to the smell. It's like five
[53:03] Speaker 3: star bars here, there's a parking lot the alleyway. They're
[53:06] Speaker 3: like right there. The smells awesome. That's an LA institution.
[53:10] Speaker 3: Those guys are so great. They like have held it
[53:12] Speaker 3: down for so many years. So many great bands come
[53:15] Speaker 3: out of.
[53:15] Speaker 1: The Oh yeah, it's really been there in years, but
[53:18] Speaker 1: I'm glad it's still open.
[53:19] Speaker 3: It's one of those places that like is always going
[53:21] Speaker 3: to be the same. There's always going to be like
[53:24] Speaker 3: young kids drinking beer and nicely.
[53:27] Speaker 1: That's just kind of a thing. That it's part of nature. Yes, yeah,
[53:31] Speaker 1: you can't get.
[53:31] Speaker 3: Rid of it. It's just a cycle. Yeah.
[53:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, it gives you a little bit of hope.
[53:35] Speaker 3: What was the last show that you saw?
[53:37] Speaker 1: Mm? Oh, I wish I had a memory.
[53:41] Speaker 3: I wish I had him.
[53:42] Speaker 1: I saw a Destroyer, which is not punk.
[53:45] Speaker 3: It's I feel like I've seen it on Spotify.
[53:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's this guy, Dan Bahar and a band that
[53:54] Speaker 1: are kind of I would say, I'm not super easy
[53:58] Speaker 1: to describe because every one of his albums is kind
[54:00] Speaker 1: of its own thing. Cool but a little I don't
[54:04] Speaker 1: know it even in the realm of like who I
[54:07] Speaker 1: would compare it to historically with music maybe in the
[54:10] Speaker 1: same like a little bit Brian Eno or glammy slightly
[54:16] Speaker 1: but indie rock to cool, a little New ordery sometimes.
[54:21] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like, how this is shaping fantastic? I'm in
[54:25] Speaker 3: Oh my god, I'm on. Have you ever heard you've
[54:27] Speaker 3: ever listened to music at airports?
[54:29] Speaker 1: Of course? I used to listen to it when I
[54:30] Speaker 1: would do my laundry in New York, sit at the laundromat.
[54:33] Speaker 3: Just it's so good. I have it on vinyl. It's
[54:35] Speaker 3: like one of my favorite things to play it beautiful.
[54:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, and his four like I guess rock or
[54:43] Speaker 1: pop albums whatever you would call me Murray singing four
[54:45] Speaker 1: of my favorite albums of all time.
[54:47] Speaker 3: Sure, he's so good, so amazing.
[54:49] Speaker 1: He's gone on to produce some real I mean produce
[54:51] Speaker 1: bands that I'm not super into.
[54:53] Speaker 3: That happens, so you've got to make a buck.
[54:57] Speaker 2: Bill.
[54:57] Speaker 1: He's one of our great I have what's it called
[55:00] Speaker 1: oblique strategies. They made an app of it.
[55:02] Speaker 3: Do you know what?
[55:02] Speaker 1: Are you familiar with this? He created this like card
[55:05] Speaker 1: thing in the seventies with we should I'm gonna try
[55:08] Speaker 1: it right now. But it has like basically these different
[55:12] Speaker 1: directives and you would pull a card from the deck,
[55:14] Speaker 1: like I think when they would be at a standstill
[55:18] Speaker 1: in the studio or whatever, they would draw card and
[55:20] Speaker 1: then like creatively, they would follow that directive.
[55:24] Speaker 3: Okay, so let's.
[55:24] Speaker 1: See, and I don't think Brian Needo created this app Well,
[55:28] Speaker 1: this one says take a break. That's not very interesting.
[55:30] Speaker 3: Come on, let's see. Let's I've been working hard enough.
[55:33] Speaker 1: Okay, now this is yeah exactly. This one says allow
[55:36] Speaker 1: an easement, allow and then in parentheses and easement is
[55:40] Speaker 1: the abandonment of a stricture. So I mean you just
[55:44] Speaker 1: do what you do, whatever you want with that.
[55:47] Speaker 3: And so it was designed to inspire music choice.
[55:52] Speaker 1: I think initially jam.
[55:54] Speaker 3: And what this jam is inspired by the idea of
[55:57] Speaker 3: adding an easement.
[55:58] Speaker 1: Right, and whatever that means to So I think it's
[56:00] Speaker 1: just like, yeah, brain spark something. But I'll look at
[56:06] Speaker 1: that occasionally and it does almost nothing for me.
[56:08] Speaker 3: Sure it does, true, but you might need a drum
[56:11] Speaker 3: kit ye or something.
[56:13] Speaker 1: But I think it's for creatives, maybe something you can
[56:16] Speaker 1: at least distract yourself with for a minute. But Brian,
[56:18] Speaker 1: you know, oh my god, I just adore that's so cool.
[56:21] Speaker 1: Well I think I mean, before I bore everyone everyone
[56:23] Speaker 1: to death with Brian Eno, I think we should play
[56:25] Speaker 1: a game.
[56:26] Speaker 3: Let's play a game.
[56:27] Speaker 1: We're going to play a game called Gift Master. But first,
[56:29] Speaker 1: any to number between one and ten from you?
[56:31] Speaker 3: Do? I tell you it?
[56:32] Speaker 2: Yes?
[56:32] Speaker 1: Yes, seven, Okay, I have to do some like calculating
[56:35] Speaker 1: to get our game pieces. Right now, you can promote, recommend,
[56:38] Speaker 1: do whatever you want.
[56:39] Speaker 3: Cool, you're right back. Yeah, Hi, guys, I'm just going
[56:43] Speaker 3: to promote good health and wellness. Drink your water, take
[56:47] Speaker 3: a deep breath with me, in through the nose and
[56:52] Speaker 3: out through the mouth. Let's do one those huh guys
[56:54] Speaker 3: for health and wellness out through the mouth. Now, think
[57:00] Speaker 3: about something you want to accomplish today, this week, or
[57:02] Speaker 3: maybe this year. Visualize it. I'm visualizing it with you.
[57:07] Speaker 3: Send it to me and I'll send you mine sending
[57:11] Speaker 3: it to you. Wow. Think about how real that is
[57:15] Speaker 3: and I hope that happens for you.
[57:17] Speaker 1: Wow. What an excellent use of that time. Anyone listening
[57:20] Speaker 1: to the podcast is now driven off the road. If
[57:24] Speaker 1: they hadn't already.
[57:26] Speaker 3: Might need to like drop back. A warning, a coziness warning.
[57:32] Speaker 1: Please be fully awake and alert. Okay, this is how
[57:37] Speaker 1: we play gift master. I'm going to name three things,
[57:39] Speaker 1: three gifts that you can give away, items, experiences, whatever.
[57:42] Speaker 1: I'm going to name three celebrities and you can tell
[57:44] Speaker 1: me which celebrity you would give which gift. Oh fun,
[57:47] Speaker 1: Does that make perfect sense?
[57:48] Speaker 3: That makes perfect sense?
[57:49] Speaker 1: All right? The gifts you'll be giving today are number one,
[57:51] Speaker 1: a good look in the mirror, Number two a short
[57:54] Speaker 1: lived but beloved dramedy. That's a nice gift, and number
[57:57] Speaker 1: three an in home urinal. Got it, I've somebody's in
[58:02] Speaker 1: home urinal before and I prefer to flex. It's a flex,
[58:06] Speaker 1: but it's in what direction?
[58:07] Speaker 3: Hey? Can I just say, and this is going to
[58:09] Speaker 3: be polarizing, just pissing your sink?
[58:11] Speaker 1: Just what's it for?
[58:14] Speaker 3: Same thing? It's the same thing.
[58:16] Speaker 1: It's got a drain. If it's got a drain, you
[58:20] Speaker 1: can rhyme let it rain.
[58:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
[58:26] Speaker 1: The celebrities are number one Malia Obama, okay, up and
[58:30] Speaker 1: coming entertainment something. I think she was a writer or something.
[58:34] Speaker 1: Stephen King great and number three Barbara Corcoran. Do you
[58:37] Speaker 1: know who that is?
[58:38] Speaker 3: I don't think I know.
[58:39] Speaker 1: Barbie kind of bob wa Yeah, there you go. She's
[58:44] Speaker 1: an entrepreneur, she's a real estate mogul. Yeah, and she's
[58:47] Speaker 1: got a heart of gold at least on the show.
[58:51] Speaker 3: Okay, so we've got the pisser, we've got a good
[58:58] Speaker 3: look in the mirror.
[58:59] Speaker 1: Remind me of short lived but beloved dramedy.
[59:02] Speaker 3: Sure lived but beloved dramedy. I think we'll give Bob.
[59:06] Speaker 3: I think Baba gets a good look in the mirror. Okay,
[59:10] Speaker 3: because what are you doing? What is this show? What
[59:12] Speaker 3: is your life? Do you really need it? You got
[59:15] Speaker 3: enough cash.
[59:16] Speaker 1: You've been doing Shark Tank for how many years?
[59:18] Speaker 3: Seventy?
[59:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, at least years. She's about one hundred and thirty
[59:23] Speaker 1: years old.
[59:25] Speaker 3: A cackling at this point. It's it's dark magic keeping
[59:27] Speaker 3: her afloat. Get a hobby, baba, come on, start fucking
[59:32] Speaker 3: start taking up photography. Get a dark room. You can
[59:34] Speaker 3: afford it.
[59:35] Speaker 1: I'm sure you have the eye for it.
[59:38] Speaker 3: Yeah. I think I'd give her a long look in
[59:40] Speaker 3: the mirror, and she probably love it. I think there's
[59:41] Speaker 3: something going on here that she'd be like, look at that,
[59:44] Speaker 3: Look how good it all is.
[59:45] Speaker 1: She's had some very good work done. Appreciate the work
[59:48] Speaker 1: you've had done.
[59:50] Speaker 3: I think Stephen can get the drama edy. I think
[59:53] Speaker 3: he'd appreciate the story.
[59:57] Speaker 1: He's not getting a lot of dramedis on TV. He's
[1:00:00] Speaker 1: not known for his soft comedy.
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, he's not going subtle. Yeah.
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: I wonder what the closest thing he has to a dramedy.
[1:00:09] Speaker 3: He just I imagine him. It's Yeah, there's a little
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: bit of or with thinner is like kind of cheeky,
[1:00:15] Speaker 3: a little bit desperation, which is like Roy Buchanan, which
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: is I think is a pseudonym.
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: Oh he has other another person writing books as well.
[1:00:24] Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure a factory at this point.
[1:00:27] Speaker 1: I mean, I'm saying like I think I believe he's
[1:00:28] Speaker 1: writing them, but he can't stop that he had to
[1:00:31] Speaker 1: create a pole.
[1:00:32] Speaker 3: I think I could be so wrong, and that's totally fine,
[1:00:35] Speaker 3: and I don't care that's true. But yeah, the desperation
[1:00:37] Speaker 3: is like funny. Oh, there's there's like dark humor.
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: Interesting.
[1:00:41] Speaker 3: The cop character is like very like he's like a
[1:00:43] Speaker 3: cheeky bastard. But I also just kind of love the
[1:00:47] Speaker 3: idea of like Stephen King watching like the first season
[1:00:50] Speaker 3: of Skins.
[1:00:53] Speaker 1: Stephen King's Freaks and gigs. Yeah, I think that's nice. Yeah,
[1:00:59] Speaker 1: kind of a late career turn for him.
[1:01:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean why not try and get it,
[1:01:04] Speaker 3: try and get into a different cash revenue. Right, I'm
[1:01:08] Speaker 3: sure he's got it. Right. If you can be bad that,
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: I think you could also be good. You're just kind
[1:01:12] Speaker 3: of put in the mirror the other one, right, just
[1:01:14] Speaker 3: a mirror. And then Malia gets whatever the last one is.
[1:01:17] Speaker 1: She gets the in home urinal.
[1:01:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's just sort of like, uh.
[1:01:21] Speaker 1: She's probably already got everything she could possibly ask for. God.
[1:01:25] Speaker 3: Yeah. I think maybe it'll give her something to like.
[1:01:28] Speaker 3: They can roast her about it and that'll humber horror.
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: And that's probably right to be a president's daughter who
[1:01:34] Speaker 3: she does blast SIGs, which is I think is oh interesting.
[1:01:36] Speaker 3: Gen Z. Yeah, I think that's pretty cool daddy's daughter.
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: I think he's shopped.
[1:01:41] Speaker 3: He did, but he was, he was blasting SIGs.
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, you love you know, you're the president of the
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: United States.
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: Have a focus, cigaret brother, Come on.
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: The way, this podcast has become pro smoking is so.
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: We're gonna from him in the pocket of big Nickeds.
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: I want you to know.
[1:02:01] Speaker 1: The Surgeon General is coming for us. Yeah.
[1:02:03] Speaker 3: I got drove here in a Winston Company car, in.
[1:02:06] Speaker 1: A giant cigarette shake car like themobile.
[1:02:10] Speaker 3: It's pretty cool that you can light it.
[1:02:14] Speaker 1: The exhaust comes out in the back.
[1:02:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, and you get fast.
[1:02:17] Speaker 1: Why haven't they done that bad move on their part?
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: You know, I'll call, I'll call. Give you can touch, Yeah,
[1:02:24] Speaker 3: I can get. I can get up the ladder for sure.
[1:02:26] Speaker 1: Get them on the phone. Get the cigarette machine going. Well,
[1:02:29] Speaker 1: you played it perfectly, Thank you, very thoughtful.
[1:02:32] Speaker 3: I was nervous. I was going to fucking with it
[1:02:33] Speaker 3: in the game.
[1:02:34] Speaker 1: No, you did perfectly. And all these people are going
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: to appreciate their gifts.
[1:02:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're welcome, I hope.
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: So now we need to answer a listener question. People
[1:02:43] Speaker 1: are writing into I said, no gifts at gmail dot com,
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: or they're sending voice notes. The voice notes have to
[1:02:48] Speaker 1: be sixty seconds long and in a quiet space. That
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: makes sense, doesn't listener. But today we're going to read one.
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: We help me answer a question. Absolutely all right, this
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: is dear Bridger and hopefully tolerable guest. Okay, I mean
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: that's a little.
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I'm you're sort of already creating a bias
[1:03:03] Speaker 3: and how I'm going to interface with you and sort
[1:03:05] Speaker 3: of the level of kindness and empathy the whole like
[1:03:07] Speaker 3: you can find your whole dream things.
[1:03:09] Speaker 1: Fucks out out the window, out of the window. This
[1:03:13] Speaker 1: is after returning home from our vacation two days ago,
[1:03:15] Speaker 1: my partner and I discovered our apartment has been invaded
[1:03:18] Speaker 1: by fruitflies and ants. We had a new house slash
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: dog sitter, so we're assuming although we are certain they
[1:03:26] Speaker 1: are the cause of this pest issue. Should I get
[1:03:28] Speaker 1: in touch with them to ask about the situation or
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: is it better to leave it alone. I'm worried they
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: might be butt hurt. Butt hurt. Okay, okay, however, they
[1:03:38] Speaker 1: are supposed to sit for us again next month, and
[1:03:40] Speaker 1: I would like to prevent this from happening again. Oh
[1:03:43] Speaker 1: my god, eagerly and anticipating your incredibly uplifting and faultless recommendations. Okay,
[1:03:48] Speaker 1: now they're trying to win us over. Have a great day.
[1:03:50] Speaker 1: Danny ps high on Elise. I don't know who that's
[1:03:53] Speaker 1: in reference to.
[1:03:56] Speaker 3: Fucking grow up.
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: Grow up is what everyone needs to do.
[1:04:00] Speaker 3: This is so lamb fucking grow up.
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: You're making good on your promise.
[1:04:04] Speaker 3: I'm pissed you.
[1:04:06] Speaker 1: You're upset to begin with.
[1:04:08] Speaker 3: I got a fucking problem. There's ants in my house.
[1:04:10] Speaker 3: Grow up, dude, that shit happens house. Yeah, they're fucking
[1:04:16] Speaker 3: with my gig. That's crazy. Why do you have to?
[1:04:19] Speaker 3: I guess my question is why does this issue? That
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: is like fairly common And you probably left town with
[1:04:26] Speaker 3: fucking fruit and no bowl.
[1:04:27] Speaker 1: Right, You probably left just crumbs all over the count.
[1:04:30] Speaker 3: They're probably an old banana in a basket.
[1:04:31] Speaker 1: Floor needed to be swept.
[1:04:33] Speaker 3: Yes, why can't there just be ants in your house?
[1:04:35] Speaker 3: Because nobody was around.
[1:04:37] Speaker 1: Why does it have to be the fault of somebody
[1:04:38] Speaker 1: because this person hasn't looked within. Yeah, and they were
[1:04:42] Speaker 1: going in there. That's why they're constantly escaping to vacations.
[1:04:45] Speaker 1: They're running away from a champagne problem. It's a champagne problem.
[1:04:48] Speaker 3: A guy watching my ship while I'm having a good time.
[1:04:50] Speaker 3: I'm sorry, you had to have a little bit of
[1:04:52] Speaker 3: reality in your life. Man.
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: Well, and I feel like the solution here is just
[1:04:58] Speaker 1: live with it. The person comes around. If it is
[1:05:01] Speaker 1: their fault, they'll live with it as well. Ultimately it
[1:05:05] Speaker 1: will pass.
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, eight billion people. Find another guy.
[1:05:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, find another guy. Cut this person out of your life.
[1:05:12] Speaker 3: Really that hard. There's somebody who's the people need money,
[1:05:15] Speaker 3: there's people look into dogsit.
[1:05:17] Speaker 1: And yeah, throw a rock you'll find somebody. Is that
[1:05:19] Speaker 1: the phrase? And also get some of them. Have you
[1:05:22] Speaker 1: ever heard of the magic ant chalk.
[1:05:24] Speaker 3: That that don't cross the line.
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. I think it probably immediately gives you cancer
[1:05:31] Speaker 1: for sure, because I think it's illegal. But you use
[1:05:35] Speaker 1: this stuff, the ants, I've never seen anything like this.
[1:05:38] Speaker 1: Anything is effective in any category really, but it's hard.
[1:05:41] Speaker 3: To find, so it's different than regular chalk.
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: It's as far as I know. Okay, it says I
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: think it says like magic ant chalk.
[1:05:48] Speaker 3: Well, because I know I've heard of the chalk like
[1:05:51] Speaker 3: I've done the chalk line just.
[1:05:53] Speaker 1: And it worked.
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, just chalk.
[1:05:56] Speaker 1: Interesting. So maybe the magic chalk people are just it's branding.
[1:05:59] Speaker 3: I bet you it's just branding. Or it's like a
[1:06:01] Speaker 3: type of chalk that maybe it's like a more like
[1:06:03] Speaker 3: more gets off. Oh you know, I'm pontificating it.
[1:06:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's just too much chalk. And that's why
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: it becomes legal. You can only have so much chalk.
[1:06:15] Speaker 3: It starts getting weird.
[1:06:16] Speaker 1: We'll get some regular chalk and put it all over
[1:06:18] Speaker 1: your house.
[1:06:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. Man, this sky pissed me off
[1:06:22] Speaker 3: pretty quick. This person piss me off pretty quick.
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: It's d A and I so Danny whoever you are.

[1:06:44] Speaker 3: world that'll throw a hammer and just be like, hey,
[1:06:46] Speaker 3: check your shit. I think we need a little bit.
[1:06:48] Speaker 1: More in the dose of reality. Come on, America needs.
[1:06:51] Speaker 1: We need to be eating as a family. Mystique and
[1:06:55] Speaker 1: a dosive rehalit.
[1:06:56] Speaker 3: A little bit of slap of the face of what's
[1:06:58] Speaker 3: really going on.
[1:06:58] Speaker 1: That's how we turn things over.
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: Easy to write an email to a podcast about hands.
[1:07:03] Speaker 3: I don't want to be like I think I nam
[1:07:05] Speaker 3: slightly going into actually being a little rude territory. But
[1:07:08] Speaker 3: the more I zoom out, it's like, what's going on, man,
[1:07:11] Speaker 3: they're having a big problem. You have a friend to call.
[1:07:14] Speaker 1: They have a friend in me.
[1:07:17] Speaker 3: That's right.
[1:07:17] Speaker 1: They expected me to be on their side this time,
[1:07:19] Speaker 1: and unfortunately they were wrong.
[1:07:23] Speaker 3: Serious apologies, Danny.
[1:07:26] Speaker 1: He's not sorry.

[1:07:36] Speaker 3: This is gonna ruin me.
[1:07:37] Speaker 1: I'm going to get buried to think about the bottom line.
[1:07:40] Speaker 1: He's sorry. He doesn't want to end up up at
[1:07:43] Speaker 1: delightful dinners.
[1:07:44] Speaker 3: No, I can't go back.
[1:07:45] Speaker 1: You can't go back to delightful dinner.
[1:07:46] Speaker 3: My hands are too soft. Now, I don't think they'd
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: handle it.
[1:07:50] Speaker 1: Well, we answered the question perfectly. I think so I
[1:07:53] Speaker 1: have my drugs.

[1:08:06] Speaker 1: Okay, we'll take both at the same time.
