[0:08] Speaker 1: And I invited you here, thought I made myself perfectly clear.
[0:17] Speaker 2: But you're a guest to my home.
[0:21] Speaker 1: You gotta come to me empty, And I said, no, guests,
[0:27] Speaker 1: you're own presences.
[0:29] Speaker 3: Presence and I already had too much stuff, So.
[0:35] Speaker 2: How did you dare to surbey me? Welcome to?
[0:49] Speaker 4: I said, no gifts. I'm Richard Wineger. We're in the backyard.
[0:54] Speaker 4: Of course, I don't know that. There's no easy way
[0:59] Speaker 4: to say this. I'm an I'm in an incredible mood.
[1:02] Speaker 4: I feel great. I'm ready to podcast. It's uh, we're
[1:06] Speaker 4: just gonna do it. It's freezing cold. It's absolutely ice
[1:10] Speaker 4: cold right now. The microphone is ice cold in my hand.
[1:15] Speaker 4: Let's get into the podcast. I love today's guest. He's
[1:19] Speaker 4: so funny. It's Dan Klein. Hello, Dan, Welcome to. I said,
[1:23] Speaker 4: no gifts.
[1:24] Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me brid I was
[1:25] Speaker 2: trying to you said I was funny, and I was
[1:27] Speaker 2: going to try to be funny immediately, and I couldn't
[1:29] Speaker 2: do it. I was like, I better introduce myself and
[1:31] Speaker 2: say hi first.
[1:32] Speaker 3: No.
[1:32] Speaker 4: I think putting that pressure on yourself always leads to
[1:36] Speaker 4: a big thing.
[1:36] Speaker 2: It's good and healthy having that pressure immediately. You must
[1:40] Speaker 2: be funny.
[1:41] Speaker 4: You're just sweating, sweating, sweating, Yeah, you're here, I am
[1:46] Speaker 4: you were you basically forgot about the podcast?
[1:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I guess we have to talk about that. Really.
[1:52] Speaker 2: I hope it doesn't put a damper on because I
[1:55] Speaker 2: you know, look, I recognize people listening to this who
[1:57] Speaker 2: is this guy? And then the first thing they learn
[2:00] Speaker 2: about me is that I was so careless that I
[2:04] Speaker 2: did forget that this was happening. I sped here, I
[2:09] Speaker 2: did some questionable driving. Really not even that necessary because
[2:12] Speaker 2: we don't live that far away.
[2:13] Speaker 4: Are what part of town are you in?
[2:15] Speaker 2: Beautiful Glendale, Califi? I love Glendale. I have a love
[2:20] Speaker 2: hate relationship with it. You know, it's a little bit
[2:24] Speaker 2: more suburban, a little bit you know, it's a great
[2:27] Speaker 2: place to raise a family, which I'm doing I'm trying
[2:31] Speaker 2: to do. We'll see how successful we are and we'll
[2:33] Speaker 2: check back in eighteen years. You and I So far,
[2:36] Speaker 2: so good. But I don't know what we're putting into
[2:40] Speaker 2: the children right that's going to haunt us and then
[2:43] Speaker 2: later but there will be something. But yeah, we're not
[2:46] Speaker 2: far away. But yeah, different different vibes, What.
[2:49] Speaker 4: Don't you like about it the suburban aspect of them.
[2:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, and then like you do get into your own
[2:55] Speaker 2: little world. I think, like you don't have to leave
[2:59] Speaker 2: it so much after the pandemic, and so I've done
[3:03] Speaker 2: a great job of isolating myself in many ways that
[3:07] Speaker 2: now when I have obligations for things to do which
[3:09] Speaker 2: I should be excited about, it instead like spins me
[3:13] Speaker 2: out of control and I'm like, oh my god, I
[3:15] Speaker 2: have to interact with a human. What do I do?
[3:18] Speaker 2: So maybe it's not Glendale as much as it is me.
[3:22] Speaker 4: No, I think that's a lot of people. I mean,
[3:24] Speaker 4: I think I'm a very or at least up until
[3:27] Speaker 4: the last two years, was a very punctual person, and
[3:29] Speaker 4: I feel that slipping because I'm not used to getting
[3:32] Speaker 4: to places at the right time. I mean speaking of
[3:36] Speaker 4: being rushing to the podcast and driving through traffic at
[3:39] Speaker 4: high speeds. When your wife Kelly was on a few
[3:42] Speaker 4: months ago, I did the exact thing. I She got
[3:45] Speaker 4: that to the podcast before I did, and it's in
[3:47] Speaker 4: my backyard. Okay, so I was speeding through town. Well,
[3:50] Speaker 4: then I should reveal this was all a revenge process.
[3:53] Speaker 4: Kelly was like, do not show up on time.
[3:56] Speaker 2: Make him. Wait four minutes, it's time to teach this
[3:59] Speaker 2: person a finally, this is the time of his life.
[4:02] Speaker 2: By the way, I mean, I know no one can see.
[4:05] Speaker 2: I'm sure you've talked about the beautiful like plants that
[4:08] Speaker 2: you have back here. It actually makes it seem like
[4:10] Speaker 2: and like with your sort of you know, southern accent,
[4:13] Speaker 2: I feel like it should be hot. That's what it
[4:17] Speaker 2: almost sounds like. You sound like you could be like
[4:20] Speaker 2: a you know, southern.
[4:21] Speaker 4: Lawyer who so I sound Southern to you?
[4:24] Speaker 2: Almost? Yeah, But.
[4:28] Speaker 4: Nobody nobody can my accent you have.
[4:31] Speaker 2: Like what I would assume is like a what was
[4:33] Speaker 2: it called Transatlantic like what movie stars did in the
[4:36] Speaker 2: forties to like hide their disgusting accents.
[4:40] Speaker 4: Where is any of this coming from? I don't understand what.
[4:43] Speaker 4: It's just a lovely way I communicate. Is it's such
[4:47] Speaker 4: a I need to elevate it. I need to seek
[4:50] Speaker 4: an expert. I need to find like a voice expert,
[4:53] Speaker 4: an accent expert.
[4:54] Speaker 2: Yes, to just sit and they'll tell you where. It's
[4:57] Speaker 2: like a DNA test but for your speech patterns.
[5:01] Speaker 4: Send them my spit and they tell me where it
[5:03] Speaker 4: comes from.
[5:04] Speaker 2: That's what it sounds like.
[5:05] Speaker 4: To other people, right and as and I've talked about
[5:08] Speaker 4: this on the podcast before, but I, as far as
[5:10] Speaker 4: I know, no one else in my family speaks this way.
[5:13] Speaker 4: I don't know what's going on. Maybe there's something that.
[5:16] Speaker 2: Does the family ever say, Like Bridger, what was that?
[5:19] Speaker 3: Like?
[5:20] Speaker 2: You're speaking like a Louisiana lawyer, Like it's again, it's.
[5:24] Speaker 4: Very element just a small town.
[5:26] Speaker 2: Yes, that's what it seems like. Now. Yeah, now, ladies
[5:29] Speaker 2: and gentlemen of the jury, I may not be fancy.
[5:33] Speaker 2: I might whatever this lawyer says I'm in.
[5:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I've got to get to the
[5:38] Speaker 4: bottom of it. But I may never because my family hasn't. Yeah,
[5:41] Speaker 4: my family has no idea, Like they've never noticed it
[5:43] Speaker 4: because I lived with them. Yeah, what do they sound
[5:46] Speaker 4: like like my family? I couldn't tell you. Maybe we
[5:49] Speaker 4: have every member of the family come on the podcast
[5:52] Speaker 4: and just do like a each reads the lazy.
[5:55] Speaker 2: Dog yawn, fox jumped over the lazy dog. And what
[5:59] Speaker 2: is the point of that sentence? Has all the letters
[6:02] Speaker 2: or something?
[6:02] Speaker 4: Sober? Yeah, if you say leaps loops over, then then
[6:06] Speaker 4: you have every letter of And that's.
[6:07] Speaker 2: The only sentence in the world that has it? Or
[6:09] Speaker 2: like why do I know it? They couldn't go like
[6:12] Speaker 2: this one's got it, but it has like it's not
[6:14] Speaker 2: like it has every letter once.
[6:16] Speaker 4: Oh that's yeah, that's what what what that sentence looks
[6:18] Speaker 4: like I have.
[6:19] Speaker 2: No but that's what they make it seem like. You're
[6:21] Speaker 2: like what they did it? And it's like, oh no,
[6:23] Speaker 2: they just threw in a bunch of words.
[6:25] Speaker 4: They just made a long sentence.
[6:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, some jerk.
[6:28] Speaker 4: Eventually you're going to get every letter of the alphabet
[6:30] Speaker 4: if you go long enough.
[6:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, Like why did didn't we? I feel like I
[6:34] Speaker 2: learned that in school? That sentence? Yeah, is it?
[6:36] Speaker 4: Do you have to? Is it for typing?
[6:38] Speaker 2: Maybe?
[6:39] Speaker 4: Is it to get it? I don't know. Did you
[6:41] Speaker 4: take a type in class?
[6:42] Speaker 2: I sure did. I took a type in class. And
[6:45] Speaker 2: it's a little bit sad to me. It's because it
[6:48] Speaker 2: was in seventh grade right now. For me, in seventh grade,
[6:51] Speaker 2: this was at the time when I had AOL instant messenger. Okay,
[6:54] Speaker 2: this is how old are you? In seventh year? Twelve
[6:58] Speaker 2: or tween? So I was born nineteen eighty four. Okay,
[7:01] Speaker 2: so it's nineteen ninety six, right, wow, one a year WOA,
[7:04] Speaker 2: great time. But so I'm at home typing with not
[7:10] Speaker 2: like the proper way right and pecking. I'm hunting and
[7:13] Speaker 2: pecking and I'm learning how to do it in school
[7:16] Speaker 2: and then our assignment was to like type a letter,
[7:19] Speaker 2: and the teacher was like, don't worry about it, just
[7:21] Speaker 2: type however you want to type, and yeah, public school,
[7:25] Speaker 2: and I like threw it all away, and to this day,
[7:28] Speaker 2: I still hunt and peck. You still hunt a peck.
[7:31] Speaker 2: I type with two fingers.
[7:34] Speaker 4: You're a writer.
[7:35] Speaker 2: I know it's really embarrassing. All scripts?
[7:39] Speaker 4: Does it take? Does it take all?
[7:40] Speaker 2: I could do it really fast? Okay, I think if anything,
[7:43] Speaker 2: it looks horrifying because it is fast, but it's like
[7:46] Speaker 2: it doesn't make sense right and certainly not proper.
[7:49] Speaker 4: How are you beginning sentences with the capitalization or you
[7:53] Speaker 4: do you hit capslock and then type the letter, then
[7:55] Speaker 4: hit capslock again.
[7:56] Speaker 2: The I think I either hit shift. I'm closing my
[7:58] Speaker 2: eyes to imagine the keyboard, which I think I have
[8:00] Speaker 2: down pretty well at this point. But it's like, how
[8:03] Speaker 2: I it's my way, M a rebel. Yeah, I'm not
[8:06] Speaker 2: going to do it your way, even though it's more efficient,
[8:08] Speaker 2: and you were properly taught this. But I think I
[8:10] Speaker 2: do it with my pinky okay, on my left hand. Yeah,
[8:14] Speaker 2: I think depending that's what you do. Yeah, that's so
[8:16] Speaker 2: that one I did appropriate and space bar. I hit
[8:19] Speaker 2: with my thumb. That's that's cool, that's legitimal. Yeah, I
[8:21] Speaker 2: think any other finger would work there. And then it's
[8:24] Speaker 2: just the four, just the four, the index in the middles.
[8:28] Speaker 2: And by the way, I do have an Avengers band
[8:31] Speaker 2: aid on my index finger because I sliced.
[8:35] Speaker 4: It cooking doing what.
[8:37] Speaker 2: Okay, Wow, we're learning all sorts of things about me.
[8:39] Speaker 2: Can't type for shit, he's idiot, just does not have
[8:43] Speaker 2: basic skills. Well, here we are, can't cut because so
[8:47] Speaker 2: we have a tradition. We've just started this tradition. My
[8:51] Speaker 2: wife Kelly, who was on the show. Check out her
[8:53] Speaker 2: episode number one gift. Or you could just put in
[8:56] Speaker 2: the number episode number.
[8:57] Speaker 4: Type the number one into your computer.
[9:00] Speaker 2: Yeh, hit enter and it'll come up. It'll be there.
[9:03] Speaker 2: And so Kelly's brother and Kelly her whole family are
[9:06] Speaker 2: great cooks. Kelly's oldest brother, she has two oldest brother
[9:11] Speaker 2: even better, like the best cook, and he for Thanksgiving
[9:14] Speaker 2: every year smokes a turkey, which is delicious. I highly
[9:18] Speaker 2: recommend its dangerous too, you.
[9:21] Speaker 4: Could easily get a salmonella situation.
[9:24] Speaker 2: And also he did almost light the backyard on fire
[9:27] Speaker 2: when we were there. Yeah, yeah, so the hopefully's almost
[9:29] Speaker 2: went up in flames. But then that so we were
[9:33] Speaker 2: saying in Austin, Texas, where her family lives, and I
[9:36] Speaker 2: could just feel all the listeners just coming to the
[9:39] Speaker 2: podcast to hear this story. They're like, what brother a
[9:44] Speaker 2: great cook. Turn it off.
[9:45] Speaker 4: Now we're trying to increase our Thanksgiving listeners. Yeah, we're
[9:48] Speaker 4: trying to get the Texas audience. But that's that's a
[9:50] Speaker 4: big state.
[9:51] Speaker 2: They have like the ecosystem there and economy is what
[9:54] Speaker 2: I was going to say. Now they have anyway, multiple
[9:56] Speaker 2: eCos That's a big place. He the We were there
[10:00] Speaker 2: twenty twenty because it was the pandemic. We had nothing
[10:02] Speaker 2: to do, we weren't working, we were very depressed. We
[10:05] Speaker 2: went to Austin and stayed there for a couple months
[10:07] Speaker 2: just to be near her family. Well after Thanksgiving, Kirk
[10:10] Speaker 2: goes out and gets another turkey after Thanksgiving because they're
[10:14] Speaker 2: just trying to get rid of turkeys. That the week
[10:16] Speaker 2: after Givings and he smoked another turkey and he's like,
[10:19] Speaker 2: I figured we should smoke another one because we all
[10:21] Speaker 2: like it and it's awesome. And then you got smoke
[10:24] Speaker 2: turkey soup after that. So we have a tradition now
[10:26] Speaker 2: where we after Thanksgiving we go and get a turkey
[10:29] Speaker 2: and smoke it. So I was trying to cut the
[10:31] Speaker 2: second smoke turkey Thanksgiving Junior is what we were calling it,
[10:35] Speaker 2: and I freaking oof.
[10:37] Speaker 4: Were you cutting them with the little saw?
[10:39] Speaker 2: You know, yeah, we don't even have that. It was
[10:43] Speaker 2: a decent knife, sharp enough to cut me. Okay, but
[10:46] Speaker 2: I was I did it wrong? It was all It
[10:50] Speaker 2: was bad. I shouldn't have been cutting with that knife.
[10:52] Speaker 2: I shouldn't have had my hand where it was.
[10:54] Speaker 4: Was there a lot of blood?
[10:55] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[10:55] Speaker 2: Did it ruin the turkey? It didn't ruin the turkey?
[10:58] Speaker 2: But I panicked and was so oh. I was so
[11:02] Speaker 2: pathetic and embarrassed about it. It was and you know,
[11:06] Speaker 2: now we're talking about raising a family. There was some
[11:11] Speaker 2: disagreement between my wife and I about how I was
[11:13] Speaker 2: handling myself while panicking, and let's just say I wasn't
[11:18] Speaker 2: doing a good job.
[11:19] Speaker 4: What were like, what were you doing. What was this
[11:21] Speaker 4: panic leg?
[11:23] Speaker 2: Oh no, oh, it's pleased. Oh my god, Oh my god.
[11:26] Speaker 2: I mean I was truly want I think she was like, look,
[11:30] Speaker 2: we talked about it afterwards, and she did apologize a
[11:32] Speaker 2: little bit of like, I can't really expect you in
[11:34] Speaker 2: the moment of panicking and you were scared. I was
[11:36] Speaker 2: bleeding with a ton I probably could have gotten stitches
[11:38] Speaker 2: for it, but it was like, it's so embarrassed. It
[11:41] Speaker 2: was also embarrassing. It's like a Sunday night, and I
[11:44] Speaker 2: was like, I don't want I just want to go
[11:45] Speaker 2: to bed, you know, I don't want to go to
[11:46] Speaker 2: the hospital. Right, So I was like, I hope I
[11:48] Speaker 2: just this thing just kind of figures itself parts. Yes, yeah,
[11:51] Speaker 2: which it kind of does. But I think she's like, look,
[11:54] Speaker 2: you know, with our kids, and especially we have a
[11:56] Speaker 2: four year old son, he was really scared seeing me
[11:59] Speaker 2: in that state, and you know, to see if you
[12:02] Speaker 2: could try and regulate your I don't know, emotions, but
[12:06] Speaker 2: just like trying to be a little bit more what
[12:09] Speaker 2: I don't even know what the word would be of
[12:11] Speaker 2: like in control, even though you're out of control. But
[12:13] Speaker 2: I was freaking out right, and maybe just not freaking
[12:16] Speaker 2: out quite as much.
[12:18] Speaker 4: But I feel like you get to pass with pain.
[12:20] Speaker 4: I think of all like a situation.
[12:22] Speaker 2: Or I think that's I think maybe that's what she
[12:24] Speaker 2: realized too. It's like, all right, this is maybe that's
[12:26] Speaker 2: a thing in the back of her mind. That's maybe
[12:29] Speaker 2: not the situation where you know it is appropriate to
[12:31] Speaker 2: be like, hey, hey, calm down, buddy, Yeah, relax. But yeah,
[12:37] Speaker 2: there was a lot of blood and it just hurt,
[12:40] Speaker 2: you know, a knife going into your finger, making kind
[12:42] Speaker 2: of a dull thud sound.
[12:44] Speaker 4: Dull thud that hit bone.
[12:46] Speaker 2: It didn't hit bone, but just like is gross. And
[12:50] Speaker 2: then I was like, oh no. And then you look
[12:51] Speaker 2: at it and you're like, oh no, it's pouring out.
[12:54] Speaker 2: But now that I you know, now that I experience,
[12:56] Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, that's fine.
[12:57] Speaker 4: Yeah, now you've got another thing. You don't have to
[12:59] Speaker 4: be afraid.
[12:59] Speaker 2: Of slicing it. Next year, Thanksgiving Junior is going to
[13:05] Speaker 2: be a fun, roucous event because we don't care what happens.
[13:10] Speaker 4: You're gonna start it with a cut.
[13:12] Speaker 2: Yes, started with the cut, guys. Yeah, the blood of
[13:14] Speaker 2: Thanksgiving Junior. And on the keyboard rules. Yeah, and he'll
[13:18] Speaker 2: be like, well, that's really cool. How rock and roll
[13:21] Speaker 2: of you father?
[13:22] Speaker 4: What a great model, what an excellent mode.
[13:24] Speaker 2: So freely panic when he's scared. I like that. I
[13:27] Speaker 2: like my cowardly father.
[13:28] Speaker 4: Have you ever had to get stitches?
[13:31] Speaker 2: I did in high school? I got elbowed in gym
[13:37] Speaker 2: class playing basketball. Okay, going for a rebound, elbowed by
[13:41] Speaker 2: a taller guy. Here's the cool part. Didn't hurt at all.
[13:45] Speaker 2: Then we had to change in gym class. Did you
[13:47] Speaker 2: have to change?
[13:47] Speaker 4: We did have to share. You had to change it
[13:49] Speaker 4: like that, As.
[13:49] Speaker 2: I'm changing into my regular clothes, my friend is like, hey,
[13:54] Speaker 2: you might want to go to the nurse, and I'm
[13:56] Speaker 2: like why. He's like, because there's blood completely running down
[14:01] Speaker 2: your face. And I was like, oh, and then so
[14:04] Speaker 2: was that part in your eyebrow where it's just bone.
[14:08] Speaker 4: Right, where it's truly your skull is just right there?
[14:11] Speaker 2: Just a yeah? Yeah, intelligent design, my ass.
[14:15] Speaker 4: There should be a bunch of paddies, yeah, and I
[14:17] Speaker 4: soft chewy.
[14:19] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[14:20] Speaker 2: We should be able to pinch that on it. It should
[14:21] Speaker 2: be like a cute little thing we could all pinch.
[14:23] Speaker 2: I love his brow tips, but no, it's just a
[14:27] Speaker 2: tiny thing. Of skin, and yeah, there's a scar there,
[14:30] Speaker 2: but I can't really see it. How many stitches did
[14:32] Speaker 2: you have to get? That's a great question that I
[14:34] Speaker 2: can't remember.
[14:34] Speaker 4: Wow, it usually feels like something people know to do.
[14:37] Speaker 2: No right, But I'm such a badass who only panics
[14:40] Speaker 2: on Thanksgiving Junior, that I didn't even care. At that point.
[14:44] Speaker 2: It was like, stitch me up, Doc, I really did.
[14:46] Speaker 2: I think at that point was like, this is a
[14:48] Speaker 2: I know this is a cool injury because it didn't
[14:50] Speaker 2: affect me.
[14:51] Speaker 4: That that's an excellent injury.
[14:52] Speaker 2: It is a good one. I don't know if you
[14:54] Speaker 2: have any in your path. I'm trying to think of
[14:56] Speaker 2: other times. I've never really, I've broken a thumb.
[14:58] Speaker 4: I've never broken anything. Excellent bones, great bones, fantastic bones,
[15:02] Speaker 4: good for you. I've had stitches. I had my brother
[15:05] Speaker 4: threw a piece of PVC pipe at me and when
[15:07] Speaker 4: I lastic when I was eight, I think and gouged
[15:11] Speaker 4: my face.
[15:12] Speaker 2: On your eighth birthday. He was like, welcome to adult
[15:14] Speaker 2: my birthday. Yeah, yeah it should be. I'm jealous, older.
[15:17] Speaker 4: Brother, older brother. Hopefully he still regrets it. I think
[15:21] Speaker 4: they haunts him.
[15:22] Speaker 2: I think that I mean, that's those are the things
[15:24] Speaker 2: that haunt me the most is the regrets that I like,
[15:27] Speaker 2: the times where I like, did something bad to it
[15:30] Speaker 2: and you're like, oh, you just of course yeah, and
[15:33] Speaker 2: you're like, oh, I was terrible in that moment. I
[15:35] Speaker 2: don't know what happened. I lost control.
[15:38] Speaker 4: Let me ask you something about doctors and situations like this.
[15:40] Speaker 4: I feel like anytime I've been in an emergency situation,
[15:43] Speaker 4: the doctor has always been like, if it had been
[15:46] Speaker 4: one more inch, you would be dead.
[15:47] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they like to kind of tell you what
[15:49] Speaker 2: could have been. But the ghost of Christmas future, I don't.
[15:53] Speaker 4: Believe any of that.
[15:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, because I was just listening to Stephen King's book
[15:58] Speaker 2: on writing. Okay, she discusses when he was hit by
[16:01] Speaker 2: that truck. I didn't know he was hit by a truck. Yeah,
[16:04] Speaker 2: and uh, this is like nineteen ninety two, okay, so
[16:07] Speaker 2: this is long in, yes, long into so he's writing
[16:10] Speaker 2: about The book is a great book for people wanting
[16:13] Speaker 2: to hear about his process, I guess, and how he
[16:15] Speaker 2: got into writing. And there's like he was writing it.
[16:19] Speaker 4: Oh, okay, so he was hit while writing on right
[16:21] Speaker 4: and he talks.
[16:22] Speaker 2: About that in the book, and they do say that
[16:25] Speaker 2: his doctor told him had he been hit a little
[16:28] Speaker 2: bit more, he wouldn't have made it. Of course, of course,
[16:30] Speaker 2: why not. Maybe it's the doctor's giving you a little
[16:32] Speaker 2: ego boost.
[16:33] Speaker 4: But I don't feel like that's an ego.
[16:36] Speaker 2: Did its Oh yeah, you're right. Well maybe it's a
[16:39] Speaker 2: little double HJ where it's like, hey, you're pretty strong,
[16:43] Speaker 2: you survived that. You would have just missed it. But
[16:45] Speaker 2: you you're a lucky, cool guy.
[16:47] Speaker 4: And the doctor who couldn't tell that that would have happened.
[16:49] Speaker 2: So what should we grab a drink or something? What
[16:51] Speaker 2: do you say?
[16:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't Hopefully I don't end up in any
[16:55] Speaker 4: more emergency situations where that sort of thing happens.
[16:58] Speaker 2: Well, probably when we do will die, Yeah, we'll probably
[17:02] Speaker 2: the time where where we die if we go back
[17:04] Speaker 2: to the emergency room at this age.
[17:06] Speaker 4: Yeah, this is actually it's it's over. It's not like
[17:09] Speaker 4: you don't have the springy in us of ten year old.
[17:12] Speaker 2: No, Like, yes, when we bring our son to the
[17:13] Speaker 2: emergency room, they're like.
[17:15] Speaker 4: He's put up with whatever.
[17:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, he's healing, he'll be okay, right with us?
[17:19] Speaker 4: Another twenty five years before, Yes, it started worrying.
[17:21] Speaker 2: Right, and now though you're like, oh, no, you shouldn't
[17:24] Speaker 2: be here.
[17:25] Speaker 4: Do you know what I just I was thinking about
[17:27] Speaker 4: on the drive home from dinner tonight. I feel like
[17:30] Speaker 4: twenty twenty three, something's going to come from space. I think, oh,
[17:33] Speaker 4: that's your year. Something horrible from space arrives on Earth.
[17:37] Speaker 2: I don't know, are you saying that because the ozone
[17:39] Speaker 2: layer so depleted that because there's aren't there like meteors
[17:42] Speaker 2: all the time. I think there are, but the ozone
[17:44] Speaker 2: layer helps us. Is that true? I don't everything's been
[17:49] Speaker 2: kind of conflated in my mind from I think it's
[17:51] Speaker 2: a Captain planet Horsefield. That's what they kind of say.
[17:55] Speaker 2: They say, you know, it burns up in the Earth's atmosphere.
[17:57] Speaker 2: So it starts off big, okay, and it's going at
[18:00] Speaker 2: speeds at which you can't even imagine above seventy miles
[18:03] Speaker 2: seventy seventy seventy five. It's like on you know, I
[18:09] Speaker 2: five or something. You know, it's he's a reckless driver
[18:12] Speaker 2: on the iPhone, but he's in a control because it's
[18:14] Speaker 2: pretty straight at that point. But then it goes through
[18:16] Speaker 2: the atmosphere and it burns up, and that's why when
[18:19] Speaker 2: the meteors land. They're really small.
[18:21] Speaker 4: Oh like a like a piece of candy for a while,
[18:24] Speaker 4: delicious piece of.
[18:25] Speaker 2: Where there's original or some candy where there's rich minerals
[18:28] Speaker 2: that we can make money on. All the good stuff
[18:31] Speaker 2: is in asteroids.
[18:32] Speaker 4: The ozone layer is kind of just disintegrating them.
[18:37] Speaker 2: I think so.
[18:38] Speaker 4: I think that's what I believe that. I think that's
[18:40] Speaker 4: the I think that's that was just like protecting us
[18:43] Speaker 4: from the Sun's rays.
[18:45] Speaker 2: I think that's that too. I think it's got multifunctions.
[18:47] Speaker 2: It's a great layer on a least. I feel like
[18:49] Speaker 2: you're looking this up and I don't want to know.
[18:51] Speaker 2: Are you looking it up? Am I close?
[18:53] Speaker 4: I don't want to layer the stratosphere, I will say nothing.
[18:57] Speaker 2: Is that? Like? What is the stratosphere?
[18:59] Speaker 1: Is the atmosphere?
[18:59] Speaker 4: Isn't that the layers of the atmosphere?
[19:03] Speaker 2: And is that the ozone layer? Or is that a
[19:04] Speaker 2: different way?
[19:05] Speaker 4: That's a different layer. And it's also the thing in
[19:07] Speaker 4: Las Vegas, the tower that the carnival rides on.
[19:12] Speaker 2: It or whatever. I was just thinking about how everyone
[19:14] Speaker 2: loves Vegas. It's something, there's something there for everybody.
[19:17] Speaker 4: You are bringing on a lot of misinformation on this podcast.
[19:20] Speaker 2: Everybody just it's a fun place. I've had fun there,
[19:23] Speaker 2: That's I guess why I'm I've learned tell everyone, well
[19:26] Speaker 2: not everyone, but you know, there's just when I go there,
[19:28] Speaker 2: I'm enamored by how cartoonishly international it is. It's like
[19:34] Speaker 2: people really recovering everyone. That's what I mean. That's what
[19:37] Speaker 2: I meant, so that, like, I can't believe this goof
[19:41] Speaker 2: of a city got has something so magical.
[19:45] Speaker 4: You know that everyone in the world it seems like
[19:46] Speaker 4: it's worth a trip.
[19:47] Speaker 2: Yes, and it is. Is the craziest part.
[19:51] Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just going to stand up and say, no,
[19:52] Speaker 4: it's not Have you been. I've been so many times.
[19:55] Speaker 2: Maybe you've been too many times. I've believe twice.
[19:58] Speaker 4: So you were there, you had it, and it had
[20:01] Speaker 4: you absolutely had me just in the palm of its hand.
[20:04] Speaker 2: What happened?
[20:05] Speaker 3: Uh?
[20:06] Speaker 4: No, I I just realized I didn't like it.
[20:08] Speaker 2: Base I don't like it either, but I do like it.
[20:10] Speaker 4: It just is kind of against everything that I.
[20:12] Speaker 2: Enjoy, And that's part of what I've started to like
[20:15] Speaker 2: about it.
[20:16] Speaker 4: Like which things about it? Do you like the gambling?
[20:18] Speaker 3: No?
[20:19] Speaker 2: Do you like the club gambling. I don't, but I
[20:23] Speaker 2: did go to a bachelor party, okay, and where I did?
[20:26] Speaker 4: If I ever go to a bachelor party, I'm didding
[20:28] Speaker 4: myself in the ocean.
[20:29] Speaker 2: We well, look, I was distraught about this. It tore
[20:34] Speaker 2: me up to have to go to this. We went
[20:37] Speaker 2: to this place, Club tow or something. It's called Tao
[20:40] Speaker 2: Tao and it's in the palazzo and it's like it's
[20:44] Speaker 2: an all day pool party. Okay, so you can only
[20:47] Speaker 2: wear a bathing suit. Sure, nothing else is allowed. They
[20:50] Speaker 2: took everything from us and threw it out.
[20:52] Speaker 4: It's like when you go to a place and then
[20:54] Speaker 4: they're like, you need to be wearing a suit, you
[20:56] Speaker 4: need to be wearing a baby. They give you like
[20:57] Speaker 4: an oversized suit. If you don't already have.
[20:59] Speaker 2: You would they would give you like a disposable bathing
[21:02] Speaker 2: You could only wear a bathing suit. And it's a
[21:05] Speaker 2: big disgusting pool with a big disgusting DJ playing disgusting
[21:10] Speaker 2: music and spraying people. And we paid god wait, gobs
[21:15] Speaker 2: no god whatever, gobs of money, gobs of money because
[21:18] Speaker 2: we paid for the VIP experience, which includes you get
[21:23] Speaker 2: your own little private disgusting pool. It's not the big
[21:26] Speaker 2: one where ever you want all the disgusting people, you
[21:28] Speaker 2: get your own. Well, we we caused we're there, are runoff,
[21:32] Speaker 2: we're at the top. And it is, oh my god,
[21:35] Speaker 2: that it's really just like stratified. Talk about the very
[21:40] Speaker 2: stratified in terms of like power at the club. And
[21:44] Speaker 2: it's very heterosexual. It is just like because there's all
[21:48] Speaker 2: men in the VIP section, and the VIP section was taller,
[21:51] Speaker 2: and you could look down at the peons in the
[21:55] Speaker 2: pool swimming in your sewage and yes, swimming in your
[21:58] Speaker 2: sewage essentially, and you could call people up and to
[22:01] Speaker 2: be in your club. And that's and it's only and
[22:04] Speaker 2: you could see kind of women. It's just embarrassing for everybody. Oh,
[22:08] Speaker 2: sort of trying to dance their way into the private
[22:12] Speaker 2: pools for some reason. And guess what, it was so
[22:15] Speaker 2: hot and disgusting. Our pool was hot and disgusting. It
[22:18] Speaker 2: was not refreshing. But I had a blast.
[22:20] Speaker 4: Did your pool call anyone up?
[22:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, we called people. We would call people up. I
[22:24] Speaker 2: was a nice guy because I was just happy to
[22:26] Speaker 2: be there. And you know, there were some women. I
[22:30] Speaker 2: had no problem getting to know them, chat with them
[22:33] Speaker 2: about our families chat. As we're chatting in the pool,
[22:37] Speaker 2: She's like, Okay, I have to go. The bouncers telling
[22:38] Speaker 2: me I have to leave because I had a much
[22:40] Speaker 2: more a caddier friend who was like, no, no, no,
[22:44] Speaker 2: these women don't get to come. I want I have
[22:47] Speaker 2: special women that I want here.
[22:49] Speaker 4: And he was a first event I've ever heard, and.
[22:51] Speaker 2: I had a great time. Yeah it was so vad
[22:54] Speaker 2: on paper, it was horrible, but that's what Vegas can
[22:57] Speaker 2: do to you.
[22:58] Speaker 4: Turned you into an absolutely terrible for one day.
[23:01] Speaker 2: If I had to do that again, I would kill myself.
[23:03] Speaker 2: But for one day, I was like, this is just
[23:06] Speaker 2: a you get to sort of just like laugh at life.
[23:10] Speaker 2: That's just the you get to play VIP, right, you know.
[23:14] Speaker 2: It's like with enough money, you could be a VIP
[23:15] Speaker 2: for a while. But it's like, look I got one
[23:17] Speaker 2: day there. If I get save up and be a
[23:19] Speaker 2: VIP for a day, just to see what it feels like,
[23:21] Speaker 2: you see how delusional you could become. I mean, after
[23:24] Speaker 2: one day, I was like, I could really be an asshole.
[23:28] Speaker 4: You could really have six hours just kind of lying
[23:31] Speaker 4: in Wait, yeah, you like.
[23:32] Speaker 2: I can if I should do that? If I wanted to.
[23:35] Speaker 4: It's a great test.
[23:36] Speaker 2: It's a really good test. The devil is there.
[23:39] Speaker 3: Now?
[23:39] Speaker 2: How long were you in Vegas? Just one day? Two days?
[23:42] Speaker 2: Two days? That's the max. You want to know the
[23:43] Speaker 2: best part this is also just I'm just revealing something
[23:46] Speaker 2: about a microphone makes me reveal all the most embarrassing things. Yeah,
[23:49] Speaker 2: it's like you would think it's the opposite, but no, no, no,
[23:52] Speaker 2: the test of time has been like put a camera
[23:54] Speaker 2: on someone, they'll save their deepest.
[23:56] Speaker 4: They will betray their family in an instant.
[23:59] Speaker 2: For the news. They're like, there's a camera. You have
[24:02] Speaker 2: a camera on your phone. You don't have to be
[24:04] Speaker 2: This is not like a novelty. But anyway, this is
[24:08] Speaker 2: to me. I guess I went for two days and
[24:10] Speaker 2: I took the bus. You took the bus to lost
[24:13] Speaker 2: Because I was spending so much money on that, I
[24:16] Speaker 2: was like I should save money and take the bus.
[24:20] Speaker 2: I don't know why I thought this. And the bus,
[24:24] Speaker 2: now that was quite an experience.
[24:25] Speaker 4: How long is that ride?
[24:27] Speaker 2: Five hours?
[24:28] Speaker 4: Five hours? What sort of bus is this? Is it
[24:31] Speaker 4: like a Peter Pan situation, a bolt bus.
[24:33] Speaker 2: It's so that it was this company called Flick's Buska
[24:36] Speaker 2: and they really on the website make it seem like
[24:38] Speaker 2: all the buses are new and clean. Of course, but
[24:41] Speaker 2: when you go down to downtown Los Angeles, which is
[24:44] Speaker 2: not known for having anything new or clean, they do
[24:48] Speaker 2: not show up with a new and clean bus. And
[24:51] Speaker 2: the clientele there was also traveling to Las Vegas by bus.
[24:54] Speaker 2: There were fights. Immediately. I was like, I was calling
[24:58] Speaker 2: Kelly being like what am I do? You gotta get
[25:00] Speaker 2: me out of here. What were people fighting about? Well,
[25:03] Speaker 2: so flicks Bus on their website is like, it's great
[25:07] Speaker 2: you're taking Flicks Bus. You're making the right call. It's
[25:09] Speaker 2: fifteen dollars for a trip. That's pretty cheap. I know,
[25:12] Speaker 2: it's fifteen dollars to get to Vegas. Or if you
[25:15] Speaker 2: want to reserve both seats in the row, it's twenty bucks.
[25:18] Speaker 2: And I'm like, well, I'll just do that splur And
[25:21] Speaker 2: you get to the bus and you got your little
[25:23] Speaker 2: barcode and you tell the bus driver I reserve two seats,
[25:26] Speaker 2: and the bus driver's like, I don't care. Wherever you want.
[25:29] Speaker 2: Rules baby, Yeah, like they'll tell me that, and guess what,
[25:33] Speaker 2: it's not being enforced. So I sat somewhere else. Other
[25:36] Speaker 2: people were sitting wherever they want. And this other couple
[25:39] Speaker 2: was like, we reserve these seats, and this other couple
[25:42] Speaker 2: was like I don't care. And they got into a fight.
[25:45] Speaker 2: Oh and yeah, and I was like, oh boy, but
[25:47] Speaker 2: the the rule following couple won the fight. Oh good
[25:50] Speaker 2: for those other people moved. Good for them. Yes, So
[25:52] Speaker 2: I had a secret little you know, fist pump for
[25:55] Speaker 2: the rule followers of like, good for.
[25:57] Speaker 4: Them, that's right. Kind of one out that day.
[26:00] Speaker 2: They did, but the rest of the time in Vegas
[26:02] Speaker 2: was lawless.
[26:03] Speaker 4: And then you rode the bus back.
[26:06] Speaker 2: And then it was a clean bus. But then it
[26:08] Speaker 2: was like that's how they get you to me. They
[26:10] Speaker 2: on the way back, it's like, see, you'll take us again,
[26:12] Speaker 2: won't you? And I'm like I might. Yeah.
[26:14] Speaker 4: I feel like people on their way from Vegas out
[26:17] Speaker 4: on their way out, or like I'm changing things.
[26:19] Speaker 2: I'm gonna turn it around. You really have to.
[26:21] Speaker 4: When you're headed in, you give it up. You're ready
[26:23] Speaker 4: to just burn it all down.
[26:25] Speaker 2: And I really, you really do. You just burn it down,
[26:27] Speaker 2: you become a different person. It was really I think
[26:31] Speaker 2: it's because that that time going to Vegas, I was like,
[26:33] Speaker 2: I am just gonna let loose and do whatever I want.
[26:37] Speaker 2: And it's not like anything is that crazy. I don't
[26:39] Speaker 2: have like that deep and dark of desires. My favorite
[26:42] Speaker 2: thing was like eating a bunch of edibles and walking
[26:45] Speaker 2: around with us, walking around the casino floor with a
[26:47] Speaker 2: slice of pizza.
[26:48] Speaker 4: Oh that sounds incredible.
[26:49] Speaker 2: It was I was like, am I allowed to walk
[26:52] Speaker 2: around with this pizza? They're like, do whatever you want? Man,
[26:54] Speaker 2: Like I don't care about what you do. Maybe you're
[26:57] Speaker 2: changing my mind on Vegas. That's what you gotta do
[26:59] Speaker 2: there is just like what would be fun for me? Right?
[27:03] Speaker 4: Just choose your own little adventure.
[27:05] Speaker 2: And also, what was nice about the bachelor party at
[27:09] Speaker 2: my age is that no one gave you any trouble
[27:11] Speaker 2: when you were like I'm going to bed, you know.
[27:13] Speaker 2: So it was like ten o'clock, not kidding, and I'm like,
[27:17] Speaker 2: I'm going to get one more slice of pizza. I'm
[27:18] Speaker 2: gonna take that into my room. I'm gonna watch TV
[27:20] Speaker 2: and fall asleep, and everyone's like good night.
[27:22] Speaker 4: So that was This is pizza coming from in Las Vegas.
[27:25] Speaker 2: We stayed at this is I'm gonna plug a resorts
[27:27] Speaker 2: World Las Vegas. It's a newer establishment.
[27:31] Speaker 4: The hotel is called Las Vegas.
[27:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's right next to Circus Circus, which is
[27:36] Speaker 2: really seen better days. That place is sun burnt.
[27:40] Speaker 4: That place had seen better days than like nineteen ninety five.
[27:42] Speaker 2: Yes, and now it's just like it looks like peeling
[27:45] Speaker 2: skin from the sun. It's like, well, they have to
[27:49] Speaker 2: tear this down. Someone has to do something. They've got
[27:51] Speaker 2: to implode it. It's and it will it happen. It
[27:53] Speaker 2: has to happen at some point. But that place has
[27:56] Speaker 2: like a whole why am I talking about? This has
[27:58] Speaker 2: a whole food court situation.
[27:59] Speaker 4: Paid it's just up, very up Resorts World. We're each
[28:02] Speaker 4: getting fifty thousand dollars to rep this Resorts World.
[28:06] Speaker 2: I had such a great time there, though, I did
[28:07] Speaker 2: tell my friends when I die, I want my ashes
[28:10] Speaker 2: to be scattered in Resorts World and club tow.
[28:13] Speaker 4: There's probably already a lot of ashes in there.
[28:15] Speaker 2: I would think. So yeah, because everyone is feeling the
[28:17] Speaker 2: same thing. This is who I really am, right and
[28:20] Speaker 2: twenty four hours later you're like, oh my god, who
[28:22] Speaker 2: was I Resorts World? Las Vegas?
[28:26] Speaker 4: Las Vegas is the simply the worst name for.
[28:29] Speaker 2: Why is it called? It's like a sort of a
[28:33] Speaker 2: bunch of it's like Hilton and like other it's like
[28:36] Speaker 2: their mother group or you know, their conglomerate, but they
[28:40] Speaker 2: just simply called it the conglomerate. It's really weird to
[28:43] Speaker 2: have Cisco Foods or something like the those big trucks
[28:46] Speaker 2: that you would never want to actually know. Yeah, you
[28:49] Speaker 2: would never be like, hey, welcome to Cisco restaurant, even.
[28:52] Speaker 4: Though we know they, I mean, should try it.
[28:55] Speaker 2: Have a big cafeteria, yeah, the costco style.
[28:57] Speaker 4: To try all of the things that they're the bad.
[28:59] Speaker 2: Food that the prison truths are here.
[29:03] Speaker 4: Yeah, resorts World.
[29:05] Speaker 2: Check it out or do not check it out. But
[29:08] Speaker 2: Dan had a great time though.
[29:09] Speaker 4: It sounds like clickbait. Sounds like a like something you
[29:12] Speaker 4: would see like a little banorage. Yeah, an old fashioned
[29:17] Speaker 4: business name. In twenty twenty three.
[29:19] Speaker 2: No, it's like twenty something that you yeah what you're oh, Yeah, this.
[29:22] Speaker 4: Is currently twenty twenty three.
[29:24] Speaker 2: It is currently twenty twenty three. It is twenty twenty three.
[29:27] Speaker 4: Here we are in twenty twenty twenty three, and.
[29:29] Speaker 2: Some new Mario Kart tracks are being released.
[29:32] Speaker 4: You're not kidding, they really are. Do you play Mario Kart?
[29:35] Speaker 2: Well, my son who is four now is just getting
[29:38] Speaker 2: interested wonderful, So yeah, like because there's an easy enough
[29:42] Speaker 2: mode that he can just kind of hang out and
[29:45] Speaker 2: just look at the graphics. What's great about watching a
[29:47] Speaker 2: four year old play Mario Kart is that I've had
[29:49] Speaker 2: Mario Kart my whole life. Of course, all the iterations,
[29:52] Speaker 2: so I'm not blown away when there's a banana peel
[29:55] Speaker 2: on the road, but he is. Oh, and so he
[29:58] Speaker 2: is yelling about everything he seeing. Whoa, I'm going so
[30:02] Speaker 2: fast there's a banana peel, I got the golden mushroom
[30:06] Speaker 2: like he is just I can't believe. It's really adorable
[30:10] Speaker 2: and it it's I guess that's the whole thing with
[30:12] Speaker 2: parenting is like you get to watch Yes, the world's
[30:15] Speaker 2: unfold for this person, and you're like, it's all magical.
[30:18] Speaker 4: So you know, I've been told that about Disneyland, and
[30:22] Speaker 4: I went to Disneyland with my nieces in October. They
[30:26] Speaker 4: were huge jerks to me.
[30:27] Speaker 2: Really, what age?
[30:29] Speaker 4: What age are six and three? Well, the three year
[30:33] Speaker 4: old was not a huge jerk. The six year old
[30:35] Speaker 4: large part of the day was not nice to me.
[30:37] Speaker 2: And we have think that they were tired and hungry,
[30:40] Speaker 2: or something that turns kids into monsters. Yeah, because it's
[30:42] Speaker 2: like they're Here's the thing about disney Land. Disneyland Disneyland is,
[30:48] Speaker 2: did you guys have a stroller for the six yearo?
[30:51] Speaker 2: Did my sister have a stroll? Because a six year
[30:53] Speaker 2: old seems too old for a stroller right on the surface,
[30:56] Speaker 2: but you realize there's so much crappy walking to be
[31:00] Speaker 2: so much, which I don't mind as an adult, it's
[31:02] Speaker 2: like I should walk. I don't do this enough, but
[31:04] Speaker 2: for a child is horrible.
[31:06] Speaker 4: It's like it's like times as much. Yeah energy is
[31:10] Speaker 4: is that really what? I don't know, but yeah, sure, and.
[31:16] Speaker 2: Children take six times as much energy as an adult.
[31:18] Speaker 4: These are all facts so you learn in school.
[31:21] Speaker 2: I don't care about your feelings, guys, this is real stuff.
[31:24] Speaker 2: But yeah, so like that the sun and oh yeah,
[31:27] Speaker 2: the not eating and also the stimuli. It's too much,
[31:31] Speaker 2: and so we did. It was too much for my
[31:33] Speaker 2: son too, and there were times that he was a jerk.
[31:35] Speaker 2: But you know, I'm forced to love him. I've been
[31:38] Speaker 2: blessed and cursed with the love of this child that
[31:40] Speaker 2: he could do whatever he wants to make right and
[31:42] Speaker 2: you enjoy it. I don't like it in the moment,
[31:44] Speaker 2: but I have He has the leverage, He's all the leverage.
[31:47] Speaker 2: He could do whatever he wants. I just hope he
[31:49] Speaker 2: doesn't know that.
[31:50] Speaker 4: I mean, speaking of doing whatever you want Vegas, Vegas chill,
[31:55] Speaker 4: kind of lawless, rule rule breaking. I was so excited
[31:59] Speaker 4: to have you on the pod. Kelly was on a
[32:01] Speaker 4: few months ago. We had a fantastic time, despite a
[32:03] Speaker 4: few problems we had on that episode.
[32:05] Speaker 2: Just about a few problems I have with Kelly.
[32:08] Speaker 4: Just my personal problems with her aside, I don't like
[32:11] Speaker 4: the way she dresses.
[32:12] Speaker 2: Agree.
[32:13] Speaker 4: No, I was very excited to have you on. I thought,
[32:16] Speaker 4: Dan so funny. I love to chat with Dan.
[32:18] Speaker 2: We'll have a great time. So far, so good for me.
[32:21] Speaker 4: Podcast is called I said no gifts, right, so here
[32:24] Speaker 4: you come a few minutes late.
[32:25] Speaker 2: I'm already furious, right, but again it was revenge. So
[32:29] Speaker 2: we're even.
[32:30] Speaker 4: Okay, fine, we're even. But now it seems like you've
[32:33] Speaker 4: taken it up a notch because you brought a gift.
[32:35] Speaker 2: I did, I know, and I'm sorry. I know you
[32:38] Speaker 2: said not to, but I couldn't show up empty handed.
[32:41] Speaker 2: I felt that was wrong. I'm trying to show my kids,
[32:43] Speaker 2: you know, politeness.
[32:44] Speaker 4: Oh, this is modeling a proper behavior.
[32:47] Speaker 2: See, Like, remember I panicked too much with the cut,
[32:49] Speaker 2: so I'm trying to make up for that and be like, hey,
[32:50] Speaker 2: you go on someone's podcast, you bring them an extravagant gift.
[32:55] Speaker 4: Okay, fair enough, Well should I open it here on
[32:59] Speaker 4: the show?
[33:00] Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind, Okay, Okay, with that, I feel I
[33:03] Speaker 2: don't know if your listeners would.
[33:04] Speaker 4: If we could do a live poll, yeah, I would
[33:07] Speaker 4: love to just reach out to them.
[33:08] Speaker 2: Maybe we do.
[33:10] Speaker 4: Next time you're on, we do a live show and
[33:11] Speaker 4: they call in. Unfortunately, the listener is their hands are
[33:16] Speaker 4: tied right now, busy, and they're freaking out. They don't
[33:18] Speaker 4: know if I should open it or not.
[33:20] Speaker 2: Sorry to put them in that position.
[33:21] Speaker 4: I hate to put them in that position. That's why
[33:23] Speaker 4: I'm not happy.
[33:24] Speaker 2: Well, you know, I bet it's like a fifty to
[33:26] Speaker 2: fifty split and tie goes to the opener.
[33:29] Speaker 4: Okay, so just how he goes to the opener.
[33:32] Speaker 2: You know, at some kids parties that I've gone to,
[33:34] Speaker 2: they don't open gifts. They don't open any of the gifts. No,
[33:36] Speaker 2: they wait, And I'm like, I kind of think you
[33:39] Speaker 2: should open the gifts.
[33:40] Speaker 4: I feel like at an adult party that might make sense,
[33:43] Speaker 4: right at a kid's party, so many sexy teddies that
[33:49] Speaker 4: you're like.
[33:49] Speaker 2: I got to open this in front of my friends.
[33:51] Speaker 4: That's happened to me at so many of my birthdays.
[33:53] Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, oh my god, I mean that is
[33:56] Speaker 2: very sexy. I know you're all picturing me in this. Well,
[33:59] Speaker 2: I guess I'll put it on, but yes, I know.
[34:01] Speaker 2: I'm like, this is part of the fun. It's like
[34:03] Speaker 2: they're the only people that really care about stuff and
[34:06] Speaker 2: seeing toys. Yes, a toy that they didn't expect to
[34:08] Speaker 2: get right right, Like, that's the coolest thing. So it's like,
[34:11] Speaker 2: just open it.
[34:12] Speaker 4: That's a weird move on the parents part.
[34:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think everyone's trying to be polite and we
[34:16] Speaker 2: all end up doing bizarre that.
[34:17] Speaker 4: Just going way too far. This gift is in a
[34:35] Speaker 4: washable bed pad bag.
[34:37] Speaker 2: But it's not a washable bed pad. Okay, don't be fooled.
[34:40] Speaker 2: It's just a beautiful bag.
[34:42] Speaker 4: Yeah. Did you get this a like party city or
[34:44] Speaker 4: where did you get this gift bag?
[34:46] Speaker 2: We got it. We ordered it special on a website Amazon.
[34:49] Speaker 2: Oh interesting, I'm trying to feel great about using that
[34:51] Speaker 2: website as often as I do.
[34:53] Speaker 4: Nobody has any moral hang ups at all.
[34:56] Speaker 2: No, no moral hang ups at all in my life,
[34:58] Speaker 2: and that one especially not. It's this store is great.
[35:01] Speaker 2: I love the design of their site, sleek, sleek and beautiful,
[35:05] Speaker 2: and you know, I love the management of them, and
[35:08] Speaker 2: I love what they're doing, and I love the space
[35:11] Speaker 2: exploration and all the content. So I thought, why not
[35:15] Speaker 2: add to that and get bridge or something really beautiful.
[35:19] Speaker 2: It's not a washable bed pad pad, but you.
[35:21] Speaker 4: Did recently buy a washable bed pad.
[35:23] Speaker 2: Yes, my son is wedding my bed. He climbs into
[35:27] Speaker 2: our bed. I'm too tired to get him out. I
[35:29] Speaker 2: don't even know when it happens, to be honest. Oh wow.
[35:32] Speaker 2: And then it's too late and he's like what the bed?
[35:36] Speaker 2: And you're like, what the.
[35:38] Speaker 4: How often is he wedding your bed?
[35:40] Speaker 2: Well, So we have a new baby in the house
[35:42] Speaker 2: right now, and I wonder if this is part of it.
[35:44] Speaker 2: We've moved to a new place, there's a new baby.
[35:46] Speaker 2: This is like cat, I think that's what's happening. I
[35:49] Speaker 2: think that's kind of what it is. Also, our son
[35:52] Speaker 2: refuses to wear diapers at night. It always has which
[35:55] Speaker 2: is I mean, I admire it and I love not
[35:58] Speaker 2: having to change him. But sometimes you then have to
[36:01] Speaker 2: change your sheet, your full mattress, full mattress sheets, and
[36:05] Speaker 2: we have like a cover on our mattress to protect
[36:07] Speaker 2: our mattress from his peek. Wow, so that's why I
[36:12] Speaker 2: enjoyed Data's okay.
[36:15] Speaker 4: You can say that you can pee on the bed.
[36:17] Speaker 4: There no one cares exactly, there's no rules, no rules.
[36:22] Speaker 2: Pool I needed it.
[36:25] Speaker 4: Okay, I'm going to open this bag. It's got a
[36:28] Speaker 4: nice crinkle.
[36:28] Speaker 2: It is kind of I mean, you know, the bag works.
[36:32] Speaker 4: It's actually works.
[36:33] Speaker 2: How do I open it? It's very sealed, very sealed,
[36:37] Speaker 2: and I expected okay, reaching reaching in making an absolute racket.
[36:43] Speaker 2: It's okay, let's see tolling, tolling the suspense continuing to
[36:49] Speaker 2: make Did your son make this? Yes?
[36:53] Speaker 4: This is a beautiful piece of art.
[36:56] Speaker 2: It's priceless. Yes, and the corners of it are only
[37:00] Speaker 2: bent as part of the display. But it's priceless artwork.
[37:05] Speaker 4: Should I try to guess what this is?
[37:08] Speaker 2: You can? I wouldn't know. I don't know what. Yeah,
[37:12] Speaker 2: what do we think this is?
[37:13] Speaker 4: I have to imagine to me this is mouse like
[37:17] Speaker 4: Like there's like a face with two very close eyes.
[37:21] Speaker 4: The guy's your son probably didn't do an excellent.
[37:23] Speaker 2: Job, worries somehow close those eyes.
[37:26] Speaker 4: And then there are like leaves glued onto it in
[37:28] Speaker 4: a way that they look like mouse ears.
[37:30] Speaker 2: Right, that's that seems right.
[37:32] Speaker 4: And then two giant brown splotches which could be a
[37:36] Speaker 4: mouse nose and mouse mouth or.
[37:39] Speaker 2: Some kind of like open wound delesion. It's a sick mouse.
[37:43] Speaker 4: What is it? Haunta virus? Is that the mouse disease?
[37:47] Speaker 2: Oh? Wow? Fact, yes, and.
[37:50] Speaker 4: It's hand to or haunt a virus.
[37:52] Speaker 2: Do we know anything anymore? I think that's all. Yeah,
[37:56] Speaker 2: that's like all my information is, like, is that the
[37:59] Speaker 2: proper information and I could look it up. All the
[38:01] Speaker 2: information is right there on my phone. That's gonna problem.
[38:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, I know your brain knows that. I don't need
[38:06] Speaker 4: to know it anymore.
[38:07] Speaker 2: I have a prediction for the future. You said that
[38:09] Speaker 2: a thing from this thing coming from space. My thing,
[38:11] Speaker 2: I don't think that for twenty twenty three. But my
[38:14] Speaker 2: my future thing is that like with AI, in the future,
[38:20] Speaker 2: you'll be able to You'll just like be able to
[38:22] Speaker 2: randomize whatever content you want. You know, it'll be like
[38:25] Speaker 2: I feel like watching you know how they tell like
[38:28] Speaker 2: whatever that drawing AI thing that's like I want.
[38:32] Speaker 4: To see mid art. Yeah, but it's like.
[38:35] Speaker 2: I want to see Whoopy Goldberg in a medieval castle,
[38:39] Speaker 2: like puking up a carrot and it does this weird rendition.
[38:43] Speaker 2: I feel like they're gonna do that as as full
[38:47] Speaker 2: shows and movies, of course, and people are just going
[38:49] Speaker 2: to be scrolling through still just dissatisfied.
[38:53] Speaker 4: Of course, they are probably more satisfied, more dissatisfied. Oh
[38:56] Speaker 4: you're saying dissatisfied.
[38:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they will be, but because they'll have
[38:59] Speaker 2: so much I'll have so many choices, right, but they'll
[39:03] Speaker 2: be like I saw this cool thing, but no one
[39:04] Speaker 2: else is going to see it.
[39:05] Speaker 4: Yeah, they can't share it with anybody.
[39:07] Speaker 2: You'll be able to, but no one's gonna watch it
[39:08] Speaker 2: just now because you're just like there's too much stuff.
[39:12] Speaker 2: I don't know, do you know what? I feel like?
[39:14] Speaker 4: TV is at a point where everything looks good but
[39:17] Speaker 4: most things are not good.
[39:19] Speaker 2: No, they're not at all.
[39:20] Speaker 4: Like ten years ago, think the things that looked good were.
[39:22] Speaker 2: Good, right, there was a real like just like a
[39:25] Speaker 2: sweet spot, right, And it's like prestige television. It's good
[39:29] Speaker 2: and looks good and is expensive and you got to
[39:31] Speaker 2: pay for it. Perfect And now it's like I'm paying
[39:34] Speaker 2: for ads for Paw Patrol what. Yeah, And when when
[39:38] Speaker 2: I brought this up, I was thinking about it used
[39:41] Speaker 2: to be has gone way down. Oh my god, I
[39:44] Speaker 2: loved it.
[39:44] Speaker 4: It's all of its former self.
[39:47] Speaker 2: But yes, you're now you have to get ads. They're
[39:50] Speaker 2: trying to make like really expensive looking shows because every
[39:52] Speaker 2: network needs like a fantasy adventure. Those are extremely expensive
[39:56] Speaker 2: to make, and they're like, we can't pay for that,
[39:59] Speaker 2: so make it look like crap please anyway. But the
[40:03] Speaker 2: AI thing, what do you think? Yeah, I think that's
[40:05] Speaker 2: going to happen. I think it's gonna happen.
[40:07] Speaker 4: With music, it's gonna I mean it's right, probably maybe
[40:09] Speaker 4: one of the last generations of writers or whatever that
[40:13] Speaker 4: will make money off of it.
[40:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see it being like a bespoke rich person.
[40:17] Speaker 2: Thing is you have a human.
[40:19] Speaker 4: Writer, yes, and a human singer.
[40:23] Speaker 2: Scary. It's kind of like that movie Her Do you
[40:25] Speaker 2: remember that? Oh? Sure? He like used to write. Let
[40:28] Speaker 2: he was like his job was to write letters.
[40:30] Speaker 4: I forgot about that part of it.
[40:31] Speaker 2: He was writing love letters to a couple, like between them.
[40:35] Speaker 2: Why was he doing that. I think it's because it's
[40:37] Speaker 2: like that's like a novelty.
[40:39] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, because it's in the future.
[40:41] Speaker 2: In the future. Is that what happens in that movie?
[40:44] Speaker 4: That's I think.
[40:45] Speaker 2: I mean, that's his job for a little bit. I
[40:46] Speaker 2: don't think they really get into it.
[40:47] Speaker 4: But he kind of like writes personal letters.
[40:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think because no one knows how to do
[40:51] Speaker 2: it anymore. Maybe's and like it's like a thing. Yeah,
[40:55] Speaker 2: it feels pretty good.
[40:55] Speaker 4: I mean I think we're getting closer and closer. There
[40:58] Speaker 4: was the whole AI art thing on Instagram. Yes, looks terrible,
[41:02] Speaker 4: it looks bad. Oh, that's the thing that's going around
[41:04] Speaker 4: right now. Everyone's posting their portraits. Isn't that just like
[41:07] Speaker 4: a filter though.
[41:08] Speaker 2: I mean it's not a filter, it's not. I know
[41:10] Speaker 2: it's an but I'm just saying, like, isn't that the
[41:12] Speaker 2: same idea face. It's like, look, it looks like me,
[41:14] Speaker 2: but in a comic book. Yeah. I think they've had
[41:18] Speaker 2: that since some hipstomatic or whatever that like first app
[41:23] Speaker 2: But you know whatever, everybody's happy about it good.
[41:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, I guess it's another diversion.
[41:29] Speaker 2: So fast though, the fads now, they go so fast
[41:32] Speaker 2: that people aren't even into them anyway. That's like we're
[41:34] Speaker 2: already like talking shit about this fad that just started.
[41:38] Speaker 3: Suck. I know.
[41:39] Speaker 4: The Internet choose things up and spits them out in seconds.
[41:41] Speaker 4: It's like a swarm of flies sends on a like
[41:44] Speaker 4: a chicken wing Yeah up and it's gone.
[41:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, And like I'm trying to even think what makes
[41:50] Speaker 2: something has to be so surprising and potentially grotesque. That's
[41:55] Speaker 2: just like shock people. You have to shock people's systems.
[41:58] Speaker 4: You really have to go out of your way to
[42:00] Speaker 4: get any attention.
[42:01] Speaker 2: But then the things I get attention are weird for
[42:04] Speaker 2: bad Yeah. I mean, look, I not to talk out
[42:06] Speaker 2: of turn, but it's like ted Lasso is like the
[42:09] Speaker 2: most popular thing in the world, and it's like people
[42:11] Speaker 2: are just like, I just want a nice show, is
[42:13] Speaker 2: what it turns out. You're like, really that's all you want? Yeah,
[42:16] Speaker 2: It's like there's I just want a nice man. It's
[42:20] Speaker 2: not even like mister Rogers, who's a real nice guy.
[42:22] Speaker 2: This guy's a Hollywood actor. You know what he's like
[42:24] Speaker 2: in his private life probably dry. He has to be
[42:28] Speaker 2: he's clearly like to do that to be a good
[42:31] Speaker 2: man on TV convincingly. I think you have to be terrible.
[42:34] Speaker 2: You have to be associate horrible, to be like I
[42:36] Speaker 2: could tap into that. I feel like most people who
[42:38] Speaker 2: did they be like, I don't know, should I just
[42:40] Speaker 2: like be myself? I'm not sure to do this where
[42:42] Speaker 2: his psychos could be like I got it. A nice guy, yeah,
[42:46] Speaker 2: pretend to be a nice guy. Sure, I don't know.
[42:48] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[42:50] Speaker 4: H Okay, So this is your son is going too
[42:53] Speaker 4: or something?
[42:54] Speaker 2: He's seventeen, No, he's he's in preschool. Is this preschool art?
[42:58] Speaker 4: And so when he comes home with something like this,
[43:00] Speaker 4: or you're like, I want my money back?
[43:02] Speaker 2: He he doesn't even know, Like I don't think he knows.
[43:05] Speaker 2: He's still at the age. He doesn't even know where
[43:07] Speaker 2: these things go where they like, he's not like, you know,
[43:11] Speaker 2: like they give it to me in this stack, And
[43:13] Speaker 2: I'm like, I love this person. So I feel odd
[43:16] Speaker 2: throwing them directly into the trash. But also, we can't
[43:20] Speaker 2: keep all of this stuff. But it is a priceless artifact.
[43:23] Speaker 2: How do you choose what to keep? I think if
[43:25] Speaker 2: something is particularly interesting or like, I ken't like they're
[43:28] Speaker 2: learning letters, Okay, I was like, that's kind of interesting
[43:30] Speaker 2: that like his like to see his like shaky serial
[43:33] Speaker 2: killer handwriting right now, you know, he'll be like, yeah,
[43:36] Speaker 2: he's a creepy he's Robert Durst, you know, to see that.
[43:40] Speaker 2: I feel like one day maybe he'll be like, oh wow,
[43:41] Speaker 2: look at that. I was a child who learned how
[43:43] Speaker 2: to write. But I guess he won't have like any
[43:45] Speaker 2: sentimentality with a letter R. You're just guessing. So now
[43:49] Speaker 2: I'm just guessing of like maybe he'll be interested to
[43:51] Speaker 2: see this again. He may come after that mouse. He's like,
[43:54] Speaker 2: where's the mouse? I made? The freak mouse that I
[43:56] Speaker 2: cared so much about? Yeah, I love that thing. Yeah,
[44:00] Speaker 2: but he has no idea what's happening, what he's doing.
[44:04] Speaker 2: But if I was like, did you make this, he'd.
[44:06] Speaker 4: Be like, yeah, so are you saying like he's a liar?
[44:11] Speaker 4: Could be he could just take credit for something he
[44:12] Speaker 4: forgot about already. He might be you know, at that age,
[44:16] Speaker 4: I was a cycle. Yeah, I think they kind of
[44:18] Speaker 4: you went.
[44:19] Speaker 2: To future and unfortunately he's growing up Hollywood ad Jason
[44:25] Speaker 2: Glendale Okay, we tried to take him out, but it's
[44:28] Speaker 2: going to seep its way in, so he might end up.
[44:32] Speaker 2: He's you know, he's got he's funny, he can do it.
[44:35] Speaker 2: He can He's God charisma right to him. I mean,
[44:39] Speaker 2: I look at it. His other he my son will
[44:41] Speaker 2: talk to people. You know, he goes into preschool, he's
[44:44] Speaker 2: yelling twenty twenty three, there's new Mario Kart tracks coming out.
[44:47] Speaker 4: I thought you were going to say that. He was
[44:48] Speaker 4: predicting Space.
[44:49] Speaker 2: Twenty twenty thirty Space. It's gonna happen. Me and Bridger.
[44:52] Speaker 2: Whereas his other friends, I'm like, hey, buddy, Tom waving
[44:55] Speaker 2: to his other friends, just dead eyes, and I'm like,
[44:58] Speaker 2: I've known you for two years. You still can't say
[45:00] Speaker 2: hello to me? Yeah? I mean then I remember being
[45:03] Speaker 2: a kid. I'm like, I never said hi to my
[45:04] Speaker 2: parents as a kid. Yeah, yeah, me too. I never
[45:06] Speaker 2: talked to me. I'm still uncomfortable around parents.
[45:08] Speaker 4: I'm uncomfort uncomfortable around everyone.
[45:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's true. Of it's not just parents. It
[45:13] Speaker 2: turns out unless you put a microphone in front of
[45:15] Speaker 2: me and then I tell them anything, you know, what's
[45:17] Speaker 2: wrong with my asshole? Like you know what I got
[45:20] Speaker 2: growing on me.
[45:23] Speaker 4: Did your parents keep any of your school state?
[45:26] Speaker 2: They kept one great thing that I'm glad they kept,
[45:28] Speaker 2: which was I cheated kind of on. We had to
[45:31] Speaker 2: we were learning graphs in fourth grade, kind of Halloween time,
[45:34] Speaker 2: so we had to graph out our spoils of Halloween.
[45:39] Speaker 2: This was just a year where my my older brother
[45:41] Speaker 2: and I killed it. We we went out twice, like
[45:45] Speaker 2: we got the most candy I've ever been around. And
[45:47] Speaker 2: then I was I graphed it out and had we
[45:49] Speaker 2: you know, it was that like graphing paper, which is
[45:51] Speaker 2: just very satisfying. Yeah, the squares myself. Yeah, it's actually
[45:55] Speaker 2: very nice to write on. I was noticing it today.
[45:58] Speaker 2: Someone had it as their like Google chrome like skin
[46:01] Speaker 2: or whatever, and I was like, graph is just so soothing.
[46:04] Speaker 2: It's soothing. And so I had to do bar graphs
[46:07] Speaker 2: of all the candy I got and how much, and
[46:09] Speaker 2: we taped two pieces of graph paper together because it
[46:12] Speaker 2: was so much candy. It was really satisfying. And to
[46:16] Speaker 2: go back because I had always remembered that right, and
[46:18] Speaker 2: then to like go back in college and have my
[46:20] Speaker 2: mom's like I'm throwing out a bunch of your stuff
[46:22] Speaker 2: and to see that and be like, oh, I still
[46:23] Speaker 2: like this.
[46:24] Speaker 4: Well, what was the most candy you got?
[46:27] Speaker 2: Like, like which one specific?
[46:28] Speaker 4: What was the biggest bar on that graph? Do you remember?
[46:31] Speaker 2: You know? I don't offhand, but I bet I I
[46:33] Speaker 2: think I probably still have this thing that I could
[46:35] Speaker 2: look at the find the bin and see what it was.
[46:38] Speaker 2: But let's just say for the sake of lying, because
[46:40] Speaker 2: we're in Hollywood, we're talking about whoppers.
[46:45] Speaker 4: Whoppers, disgusting candy.
[46:47] Speaker 2: Kelly loves them.
[46:48] Speaker 4: They do. They make your throat hurt.
[46:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, that said that, like like mucisi like because it's
[46:54] Speaker 2: it's like say, moth balls, but it's multiple malt.
[46:56] Speaker 4: The mall. I like the flavor malt, but not in
[46:58] Speaker 4: a whopper, I mean, what do you like it?
[47:00] Speaker 2: And then it like a milkshake, milkshake, I'm all delicious.
[47:03] Speaker 2: I'd love to be at a sock hoop drinking them all. Yeah,
[47:06] Speaker 2: they don't really have like a fifties burger joint kind
[47:10] Speaker 2: of place anymore.
[47:11] Speaker 4: No, not in not in Los Angeles.
[47:12] Speaker 2: Which would think they. I guess they just have old places.
[47:15] Speaker 4: Right, I mean like diners, old diners.
[47:17] Speaker 2: But they don't have like a burger hop.
[47:19] Speaker 4: Burger hop.
[47:20] Speaker 2: What are we talking about, like in pulp fiction? Uh ohhh,
[47:24] Speaker 2: rabbit slims or whatever?
[47:26] Speaker 4: What is that in pulp fiction? Because that feels so
[47:28] Speaker 4: out of the world, Like what, well.
[47:30] Speaker 2: We they opened one. I swear they opened this place
[47:33] Speaker 2: called the burger hop, not in my hometown, but near
[47:36] Speaker 2: my hometown, and I thought it was so cool as
[47:38] Speaker 2: a kid, but my parents didn't like it, probably because
[47:40] Speaker 2: it wasn't that good and it was expensive and it
[47:42] Speaker 2: was only open for a few years. And they tried
[47:44] Speaker 2: to open an old fashioned soda shop I remember in
[47:46] Speaker 2: my hometown, so there was the nostalgia for that, and
[47:49] Speaker 2: then I guess that generation died, so that's why it
[47:53] Speaker 2: doesn't exist anymore.
[47:55] Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess like they are the diners in LA
[47:57] Speaker 4: that are the closest to that. And I do like
[47:58] Speaker 4: to go get a milkshake at a diner.
[48:00] Speaker 2: I love a diner.
[48:02] Speaker 4: Yeah, of course, it's such a comfortable failing to just
[48:04] Speaker 4: sit in a diner booth and friendly waiter.
[48:08] Speaker 2: That would be nice. Well, you know what, even an
[48:10] Speaker 2: unfriendly waiter. An unfriendly waiter isn't so bad at a diner.
[48:13] Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's part of the chart.
[48:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like, all right, it's a surly spot.
[48:18] Speaker 4: Right, as long as it doesn't feel put on.
[48:21] Speaker 2: As long as not to put on, and as long
[48:22] Speaker 2: as it like the diner. Isn't that terrible? Right?
[48:25] Speaker 4: Yeah? If it's like horrible eggs and the person's being
[48:28] Speaker 4: mean to you, why am I jail?
[48:31] Speaker 2: It's a bad Yeah, it's bad.
[48:33] Speaker 4: That's not for me.
[48:35] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[48:35] Speaker 4: But the thing in pulp fiction, I need to I
[48:37] Speaker 4: haven't watched it in a few years. I need to
[48:39] Speaker 4: go back and was there a thing because it feels
[48:42] Speaker 4: like they go there as a novelty in the Yes movie.
[48:45] Speaker 2: And I think it is like this is it's one
[48:46] Speaker 2: of those throwback restaurants.
[48:48] Speaker 4: Right, and then they complain about the milkshaking five dollars
[48:51] Speaker 4: or something.
[48:51] Speaker 2: Oh wow, just such a bargain. That'd be great, right now,
[48:55] Speaker 2: five dollars for anything. Truly, there wasn't a certain point
[48:58] Speaker 2: where lunches just became sixteen dollars they did. You're just like, oh, lunch,
[49:03] Speaker 2: we're still talking about lunch like it's five or ten dollars.
[49:06] Speaker 4: It's it's sixteen, sixteen dollars. You're not getting away with
[49:10] Speaker 4: anything less anything.
[49:11] Speaker 2: It's really it's crazy and like now with the family,
[49:13] Speaker 2: I really don't go out to eat all. I can't
[49:16] Speaker 2: imagine ever, like we eat at home a lot.
[49:19] Speaker 4: This is why I will never have children. I have
[49:21] Speaker 4: to be good to eat. It is nice, just as
[49:25] Speaker 4: rewarding as having children, I'm sure.
[49:27] Speaker 2: Yes, the feeling of having a meal is the exact
[49:31] Speaker 2: same thing.
[49:32] Speaker 4: To watch graduate with the child's.
[49:35] Speaker 2: Tears in my eyes sobbing at night, which has happened?
[49:40] Speaker 2: You do do that? Sometimes you're just like, oh, oh,
[49:43] Speaker 2: the power of love. I'm gonna write a song about it.
[49:47] Speaker 2: I am Peter Satara. Is that who wrote that? No,
[49:49] Speaker 2: it's a glory of love. Glory, that's glory of love.
[49:52] Speaker 2: Power of love? Is hue huey Lewis in the news?
[49:56] Speaker 3: Yes?
[49:56] Speaker 2: Sorry?
[49:57] Speaker 4: They were both obviously written about their children.
[50:00] Speaker 2: Yes, about a child, yes, right, and different facets of love,
[50:03] Speaker 2: the power of it.
[50:04] Speaker 4: The power, glory, the agony, the the Is there a
[50:09] Speaker 4: song called the agony of.
[50:10] Speaker 2: A lot of songs probably are about the agony of love?
[50:12] Speaker 2: Acony of the agony?
[50:14] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[50:14] Speaker 2: I don't what if we truly?
[50:16] Speaker 4: What are we talking?
[50:17] Speaker 2: Love? Is there anything else? That's it? The most powerful
[50:22] Speaker 2: power of love?
[50:22] Speaker 4: I mean that is An interesting thing about music to
[50:25] Speaker 4: me is it's all about love. When you get to
[50:27] Speaker 4: hear a song that's not about love, what a treat?
[50:30] Speaker 2: Yes, and that Like I was thinking about that today.
[50:33] Speaker 2: I was listening to Okay, so my son loves he
[50:36] Speaker 2: likes Daft punk a lot. Oh sure, because I think
[50:39] Speaker 2: like kids like fast, fun songs and it was one
[50:42] Speaker 2: of their songs and there was like love stuff in there,
[50:45] Speaker 2: and I was like, it's weird that all this music
[50:47] Speaker 2: that I feel like is this is just how music
[50:49] Speaker 2: always has been and always will be, will be like
[50:52] Speaker 2: an artifact, it'll feel kind of weird, yeah, or just
[50:56] Speaker 2: that people will be like so what like people would
[50:59] Speaker 2: like fall in love at a place and then like yeah,
[51:03] Speaker 2: iy and work it out in a dance or something
[51:08] Speaker 2: like what are they talking about? And that's so normal
[51:11] Speaker 2: to us.
[51:11] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just an everyday thing. Yeah, which it's actually
[51:14] Speaker 4: not anymore.
[51:15] Speaker 2: No, and it won't be you know, and I don't
[51:17] Speaker 2: know a couple hundred years, it would seem it might
[51:19] Speaker 2: seem crazy to whatever for whatever they're.
[51:22] Speaker 4: Doing, until society falls and then everything has to be
[51:25] Speaker 4: relearned exactly this is what now it's coming back. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
[51:29] Speaker 4: but we have to push technology to a limit that
[51:31] Speaker 4: it destroys society.
[51:33] Speaker 2: First, which it kind of is. Right. Oh yeah, we're
[51:35] Speaker 2: definitely getting there.
[51:36] Speaker 3: And then the.
[51:37] Speaker 4: Ai AI we talked about afore, a mystery from space
[51:42] Speaker 4: that I'm predicted that's coming. It's I hate to say
[51:45] Speaker 4: it on this podcast. A lot of things on this
[51:47] Speaker 4: podcast that I say come true, and that's we know
[51:50] Speaker 4: that's a fact, and we know that's a fact, and
[51:52] Speaker 4: we don't have.
[51:52] Speaker 2: To look it up.
[51:53] Speaker 4: Certainly don't look into it.
[51:55] Speaker 2: But yeah, the pandemic really got me addicted to my phone,
[51:57] Speaker 2: of course, you know. And just I think just the
[52:00] Speaker 2: craning and the desperate scrolling is its own form of
[52:07] Speaker 2: society falling. Oh of course, I can't even be like
[52:10] Speaker 2: in a place, I mean, this is I like podcasts
[52:12] Speaker 2: because it makes me focus. Yeah, you have to actually
[52:15] Speaker 2: listen to something something, even if I'm like, this is
[52:18] Speaker 2: driving me crazy. Bridger won't shut up. I'm yeah, I'm done, aren't.
[52:24] Speaker 4: We don't left a turkey in the evidence.
[52:26] Speaker 2: Turkey three. The turkeys are so cheap right now, they
[52:29] Speaker 2: can't get.
[52:30] Speaker 3: Rid of them.
[52:30] Speaker 4: I didn't realize they discounted turkeys.
[52:32] Speaker 2: After Thanksgiving because they can't get rid of them. But
[52:34] Speaker 2: there's all these turkeys.
[52:36] Speaker 4: Somebody wants turkey in January?
[52:38] Speaker 2: Do people eat turkey any Do you eat turkey any
[52:40] Speaker 2: other time? Have you ever bought a turkey any week
[52:44] Speaker 2: besides the week? Because I'm learning all this stuff as
[52:47] Speaker 2: like I'm the adult now a family, I gotta buy
[52:50] Speaker 2: the turkey and all this stuff. We like hosted Thanksgiving,
[52:54] Speaker 2: which was really just like a couple seriously was It
[52:57] Speaker 2: ended up being two people because people were sick, so
[52:59] Speaker 2: it's two people. And I was exhausted, of course for
[53:03] Speaker 2: cooking a meal, cooking a meal alone for a bunch
[53:06] Speaker 2: of people cleaning, And I was like, oh, this is
[53:09] Speaker 2: why adults don't like it, and this is why my
[53:12] Speaker 2: parents don't want to do it anymore. They're like, do
[53:14] Speaker 2: whatever you want, Like we're not doing that. And this
[53:17] Speaker 2: is also why as a kid, you're like, oh, the
[53:18] Speaker 2: holidays are nice because I'm home watching the parade.
[53:22] Speaker 4: And there are all these parties that are just being
[53:24] Speaker 4: kind of thrown that I get to attend.
[53:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I get treats.
[53:27] Speaker 4: Yes, let's just sit around.
[53:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's and it smells nice, and that's what's good
[53:31] Speaker 2: about it. And now I'm like stressing, cutting my finger,
[53:34] Speaker 2: trying to like make people happy for no reason.
[53:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never purchased a turkey.
[53:39] Speaker 2: I'm buying turkeys these days. I don't have that responsibility.
[53:42] Speaker 2: I mean, I guess I don't really either. But apparently
[53:45] Speaker 2: family I've got to I can give up on them.
[53:47] Speaker 2: I don't have to bring home food. Yeah, you get it.
[53:50] Speaker 2: That is a crazy thing, is that when a child
[53:52] Speaker 2: goes from a baby who is bottle or breastfed to like, hey,
[53:58] Speaker 2: this guy eats now meals a day. What are you
[54:01] Speaker 2: gonna do for them? And you're like, uh oh, what
[54:04] Speaker 2: do I make? And so suddenly you're like a chef,
[54:07] Speaker 2: complete pen private chef, and you're making and devising meals.
[54:12] Speaker 2: The pandemic and the child or child growing from baby
[54:15] Speaker 2: to kid has made me somewhat it's still stressful, but
[54:19] Speaker 2: somewhat enjoy cooking.
[54:20] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I have to. You have to learn to
[54:22] Speaker 4: enjoy it, I guess.
[54:23] Speaker 2: So it's a force like you better enjoy this because
[54:26] Speaker 2: guess what you're gonna be doing three times a day.
[54:28] Speaker 4: Well, and it's a little puzzle you have to solve
[54:30] Speaker 4: because you're like, what will make everyone happy?
[54:32] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[54:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, again, this is why I can't do it. Don't
[54:35] Speaker 4: have the strength.
[54:37] Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it's like you're forced in the situation and.
[54:39] Speaker 4: You you have to Your body learns.
[54:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, it just learns like I would if I didn't
[54:43] Speaker 2: have kids, I'd be like, screw that. No, I want
[54:46] Speaker 2: to eat fucko bell and that's it.
[54:51] Speaker 4: I think we should play a game. Okay, We're gonna
[54:54] Speaker 4: play a game called Gift Master. Ok I need a
[54:56] Speaker 4: number between one and ten from you.
[54:59] Speaker 2: Six.
[55:00] Speaker 4: Okay, six is the number. I have to do some
[55:01] Speaker 4: light calculating while I do this. You can promote, recommend,
[55:05] Speaker 4: just talk to the listener about whatever you want.
[55:07] Speaker 2: Okay, Well, you know if any i gosh, I have
[55:11] Speaker 2: so many podcasts. But I have a podcast that Bridget
[55:14] Speaker 2: was actually on called Bible Brothers, in which we are
[55:18] Speaker 2: reading the Bible for the first time, me and my
[55:20] Speaker 2: co host, Robert Padnick. We've never read the Bible, so
[55:22] Speaker 2: we're reading through the Bible for the first time in
[55:24] Speaker 2: our lives and just talking about it. And you know,
[55:28] Speaker 2: the Bible's an interesting book. I'm not sure if anyone's
[55:31] Speaker 2: heard that. Then I have a new podcast called Man Thinkers,
[55:34] Speaker 2: which is a satire of red pilled in cells and
[55:40] Speaker 2: alt right intellectual dark web types where we interview real people.
[55:46] Speaker 2: We've had some really interesting guest doctors and we give
[55:50] Speaker 2: it to them. But I play a character, Dan Finkelstein,
[55:53] Speaker 2: who's a real Ben Shapiro type. And then I wrote
[55:56] Speaker 2: for a TV show called Miracle Workers, which is out
[55:59] Speaker 2: now in twenty two twenty three period. That's the end, beautiful.
[56:03] Speaker 2: I'm ready to play. You got it?
[56:04] Speaker 4: All that new podcast sounds incredible.
[56:07] Speaker 2: It's fun again. You know, there's so much stuff out there.
[56:10] Speaker 2: Does anyone care? That's hard to say.
[56:12] Speaker 4: People want people as in the day. That's sure, they're driving,
[56:16] Speaker 4: it's first sitting at work, they're cleaning the dishes. There
[56:19] Speaker 4: are so many things you can do you can't.
[56:21] Speaker 2: Do, So give man thinkers a listen. We're gonna have
[56:24] Speaker 2: this really interesting guy on, David Sinclair, who is a
[56:28] Speaker 2: Harvard professor of like anti aging. Oh and because now
[56:33] Speaker 2: you know, people are saying we're gonna live forever. I know,
[56:36] Speaker 2: it sounds really exhausting, and so he's like at the
[56:38] Speaker 2: real forefront of this. So we're gonna talk to this guy.
[56:41] Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah, yeah, I'm very curious about the anti aging thing.
[56:45] Speaker 4: Is it going to trap us on earth? Or like,
[56:48] Speaker 4: are we going to get to die?
[56:49] Speaker 2: We're coming up with some great like Philip K. Dick
[56:52] Speaker 2: and Kurt Vonneguet style short stories here. We've got like
[56:56] Speaker 2: the Ai content kind of black mirroring going. And then
[56:59] Speaker 2: I think, yes, being alive forever and being trapped is something.
[57:03] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's absolutely something. Imagine being trapped in Las Vegas
[57:07] Speaker 4: and just see that's.
[57:08] Speaker 2: Where it becomes the problem with Las Vegas is if
[57:10] Speaker 2: you stay for more than two days or something, you're
[57:12] Speaker 2: like that. I was like, if I stayed any longer,
[57:14] Speaker 2: I would die. But I did it the right amount,
[57:17] Speaker 2: which is like a day two.
[57:19] Speaker 4: Days, right, And apologies to the Las Vegas listener listener,
[57:24] Speaker 4: And yeah, the people who like about Las Vegas.
[57:26] Speaker 2: I did good food, well, yes, that's the thing. That's
[57:29] Speaker 2: why they have just international cuisine. Of the last restaurants
[57:33] Speaker 2: we the other time that I went that I enjoyed
[57:35] Speaker 2: myself and did Vegas my way, not the partying we
[57:39] Speaker 2: went to. There's a lot of great Chinese restaurants off
[57:42] Speaker 2: the strip because there's just a large Chinese population there.
[57:47] Speaker 4: There's a good Thai food as well. I've had some
[57:49] Speaker 4: of the best taype food of my life in Las Vegas.
[57:52] Speaker 2: Lotus of Siam was that There's I think that's where
[57:54] Speaker 2: I've been. Yeah.
[57:54] Speaker 4: Delicious, Yeah, and it was delicious, incredible restaurant. Okay, I'm
[58:00] Speaker 4: sorry to swing up back to Las Vegas.
[58:01] Speaker 2: We need to play the game. Play that game.
[58:03] Speaker 4: The game is called Gift Master. I'm gonna tell you
[58:05] Speaker 4: three gifts, three things you can give away, okay, and
[58:08] Speaker 4: then I'm going to give you tell you three celebrities.
[58:10] Speaker 4: You're going to tell me which celebrity you'll give which
[58:12] Speaker 4: gift and why.
[58:13] Speaker 2: Okay.
[58:14] Speaker 4: The gifts you're giving are Number one a bustling dental practice.
[58:20] Speaker 2: Bustling so they the person would have to run the
[58:23] Speaker 2: dental practice. This is up to you. Okay, Sorry, I'm
[58:26] Speaker 2: not dental practice. Good for them.
[58:29] Speaker 4: Number two is a sewing machine, okay. And number three
[58:33] Speaker 4: is a menacing voicemail.
[58:35] Speaker 2: A menacing voicemail as a gift as a gift my choice.
[58:39] Speaker 4: Okay, You're going to be giving them to Yoyoma, a
[58:43] Speaker 4: world renowned musician, Yoyoma. Number two Helen Hunt, love Helen Hunt.
[58:49] Speaker 4: And number three Venus Williams not Venus.
[58:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Venus Okay, I'm going to give the menacing
[58:58] Speaker 2: voicemail to Yoyoma, okay, because I think it would inspire
[59:03] Speaker 2: some great cello work. Yeah, almost like a David Lynch
[59:09] Speaker 2: movie or something. It seems like it would terrify him
[59:11] Speaker 2: so badly that the only way he could like describe
[59:13] Speaker 2: it is through a cello solo and he's.
[59:16] Speaker 4: Just PERU, Yeah, I can see that being the beginning
[59:17] Speaker 4: of the movie. And then he's like, what do I
[59:19] Speaker 4: have to do to make this go away? And then
[59:21] Speaker 4: you're following him trying to create this piece of music
[59:24] Speaker 4: the entire time, and it's driving him insane.
[59:25] Speaker 2: There you go, and it turns out he just you know,
[59:28] Speaker 2: he could have just asked Dan Klein and I've been like, yeah,
[59:30] Speaker 2: I just I just sent that to you. Sorry. I
[59:32] Speaker 2: thought it would be a nice S gift. Yes, yeah,
[59:34] Speaker 2: I don't know. Well, because I didn't want to give
[59:36] Speaker 2: you the dental practice because I know you're busy. I
[59:40] Speaker 2: give Helen Hunt the dental practice because I can see
[59:47] Speaker 2: her being a dentist, a dental assistant, or the receptionist.
[59:52] Speaker 4: I mean, here's a movie Helen Hunt in every role
[59:56] Speaker 4: at the dental test.
[59:57] Speaker 2: Yes, she's doing a Clumps style movie, Eddie Murphy playing
[1:00:03] Speaker 2: all the roles in a bustling dental office. I just
[1:00:06] Speaker 2: love that it's bustling because it's it's the dentist is
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: I imagine it's so well liked that everyone's like, I'm going,
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: that's all you gotta go to this dentist.
[1:00:15] Speaker 4: It's like holiday shopping.
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: All yeah, excuse me, like people in the hallways.
[1:00:20] Speaker 4: It's like Macy's on the day before Christmas.
[1:00:22] Speaker 2: My mom worked in a dental office. She's a dental hygienist.
[1:00:26] Speaker 2: And how was that? Well, you know, it has it's
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: there's some pros and cons to it. The pros you
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: get free dental work. The con as you spend in
[1:00:34] Speaker 2: order to emit amount of time in a dental office
[1:00:38] Speaker 2: and you don't actually learn or I didn't learn how
[1:00:42] Speaker 2: to really take care of my teeth. And for years
[1:00:45] Speaker 2: I didn't have dental insurance because I was a struggling writer, right,
[1:00:49] Speaker 2: And so it led to some real problems.
[1:00:52] Speaker 4: And this was with your mom being in the business,
[1:00:54] Speaker 4: and she didn't instill these things, these values in you.
[1:00:57] Speaker 2: I think she tried to, but you know what's that saying, like,
[1:01:00] Speaker 2: you know the shoemaker's kids shoes or the cobblers kids
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: shoes or crap. But it's say, like the mechanic guitar
[1:01:10] Speaker 2: is bad, you know, but it's like that you don't
[1:01:12] Speaker 2: want to bring your home your work home with you,
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: I think, And so I think her doing it, she didn't.
[1:01:18] Speaker 2: You know, she probably did what she thought was good,
[1:01:20] Speaker 2: but maybe it wasn't as helpful. I mean whatever, I
[1:01:22] Speaker 2: just wasn't doing a good job and I didn't care.
[1:01:25] Speaker 2: And I was in my twenties.
[1:01:26] Speaker 4: Or whatever, resented her in the daste of business and
[1:01:29] Speaker 4: you wanted to show teacher a lesson whow.
[1:01:31] Speaker 2: Yes where I gave you revenge by being late and
[1:01:33] Speaker 2: I gave my mom revenge by having bleeding gums for
[1:01:36] Speaker 2: ten years. So that's going to Helen because she's gonna
[1:01:40] Speaker 2: make a killer Helen movies. I guess as the guests,
[1:01:44] Speaker 2: And then I thought, venus, you know, she's retired. I
[1:01:48] Speaker 2: didn't know that. Maybe she's I don't know anything about
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: I think she's retired. Okay, say she's retired, but I'm like,
[1:01:56] Speaker 2: why not try something new?
[1:01:58] Speaker 4: Right? I can see her at a sewing machine. She's
[1:02:01] Speaker 4: got styles she.
[1:02:02] Speaker 2: Does, She's got style she got grace. Why not say hey,
[1:02:04] Speaker 2: why I can make this? Because Helen I could almost
[1:02:07] Speaker 2: be already doing that kind of stuff as like you know,
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: out there actor. She probably makes pottery or something. She
[1:02:12] Speaker 2: doesn't need another machine. She needs a dental office.
[1:02:14] Speaker 4: She doesn't need another machine. Helen has got plenty of machines,
[1:02:18] Speaker 4: got machines surrounded by machine.
[1:02:20] Speaker 2: When I first started as a writer, I was accidentally
[1:02:26] Speaker 2: on an email where an assistant at my agency at
[1:02:29] Speaker 2: the time accidentally c C to everyone, oh and didn't
[1:02:34] Speaker 2: b CC. First of all, I don't think it was
[1:02:36] Speaker 2: meant to send it to everyone anyway, but didn't b
[1:02:38] Speaker 2: CC everyone. So I got some famous people's emails and
[1:02:42] Speaker 2: I saw Helen Hunt's email. I will tell you it
[1:02:45] Speaker 2: isn't dot com.
[1:02:46] Speaker 4: Dress, of course, you know, like rich people, yes.
[1:02:49] Speaker 2: Exactly, they don't have to I remember when I worked
[1:02:53] Speaker 2: at Funny or Die. Will Ferrell was there and he
[1:02:57] Speaker 2: had a BlackBerry way too late, and it was like, O,
[1:03:02] Speaker 2: because he doesn't have to have a he doesn't want
[1:03:04] Speaker 2: a phone. Someone else is going to take care of it.
[1:03:06] Speaker 2: And it was so upsetting to know how much money
[1:03:09] Speaker 2: I had to spend, how much of the percentage of
[1:03:11] Speaker 2: my salary, I had to spend on a phone and
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: a laptop that this guy doesn't even like, shouldn't use
[1:03:17] Speaker 2: for his own sanity.
[1:03:18] Speaker 4: He's free, he's free, absolutely free.
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: Yes, but then you get so free that you become
[1:03:23] Speaker 2: crazy because you're isolated and things that don't shouldn't exist.
[1:03:26] Speaker 4: Any dental practice practice.
[1:03:29] Speaker 2: And you're doing all the jobs and you're certainly not
[1:03:32] Speaker 2: multiple employees. Yeah, you got to do a lot of stuff, Helen.
[1:03:36] Speaker 4: I'd love to be Helen's dentist.
[1:03:38] Speaker 2: See what those teeth are like, just look around, get
[1:03:42] Speaker 2: in there, get some X rays, going to extra a
[1:03:47] Speaker 2: lot we.
[1:03:47] Speaker 4: Got to do more Like it starts to become alarming.
[1:03:49] Speaker 2: It's like that was the coolest part of the being
[1:03:54] Speaker 2: at a dental office as a child, is that that
[1:03:56] Speaker 2: was in the old days where they had to do
[1:03:58] Speaker 2: real X rays and then develop them in the dark room.
[1:04:01] Speaker 2: Whoa yeah, I used to go and then like the
[1:04:03] Speaker 2: stinky chemicals of like sulfur. Yeah, and that like spinning
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: to not let any light in and it was only
[1:04:10] Speaker 2: red lights.
[1:04:11] Speaker 4: I vaguely remember this.
[1:04:14] Speaker 2: I remember a photography class in middle school or high
[1:04:17] Speaker 2: school two that involved that stuff. Oh, I love real film.
[1:04:20] Speaker 4: Yeah, where you got to go into the dark room
[1:04:22] Speaker 4: or whatever and screw around exactly.
[1:04:24] Speaker 2: Just I mean, and everyone was screwing around in mister
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: Solakowski's photography class.
[1:04:29] Speaker 4: Come on, we were in Ms. Moulten's class. She was wonderful.
[1:04:32] Speaker 4: She really didn't care what was happening.
[1:04:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that. There were some teachers that didn't care,
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: but you were like, yeah, we were on the same level. Like,
[1:04:40] Speaker 2: I'm not I'm gonna take advantage in that. I'm gonna
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: goof around a little bit, but I'm keeping it contained.
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: I'm not like gonna cause trouble, not a menace. No,
[1:04:49] Speaker 2: you're not, because we there's some connection here. We're seeing
[1:04:53] Speaker 2: eyed eye. You don't want to teach, I don't want
[1:04:55] Speaker 2: to learn.
[1:04:56] Speaker 4: You're twenty four, I eighteen. Yes, yeah, essentially the same.
[1:04:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, were the same kind of people think you're way
[1:05:02] Speaker 2: older than me. For some reason, you seem beyond I
[1:05:06] Speaker 2: remember I had a college professor who was like, she's
[1:05:09] Speaker 2: really young, and then like a couple of years later,
[1:05:11] Speaker 2: she was a waiter at a restaurant that I was at.
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: Because like it was just like an associate professor job.
[1:05:18] Speaker 2: The university was probably like saving money. Yeah, and she's
[1:05:21] Speaker 2: probably like, yeah, I'll teach like French for a little
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: bit and then figure out my life. Because I just graduated.
[1:05:26] Speaker 4: I had a college professor once enter. The class was called,
[1:05:30] Speaker 4: and this is in his defense, the class was called
[1:05:32] Speaker 4: how Things Work. It was a very low level physics class.
[1:05:36] Speaker 2: That's cool.
[1:05:37] Speaker 4: He entered the first day on rollerblades as like kind
[1:05:39] Speaker 4: of a little show.
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: Can you believe How Things Work? I mean I would
[1:05:43] Speaker 2: watch it on YouTube. I've literally like watched how how
[1:05:46] Speaker 2: Things Are Made? Of course I like that stuff.
[1:05:48] Speaker 4: I mean I didn't learn anything in this class, and
[1:05:50] Speaker 4: I did a very bad job. Physics is a hard
[1:05:52] Speaker 4: thing for me to wrap my head around.
[1:05:54] Speaker 2: You know, and weirdly for me, physics was the But
[1:05:56] Speaker 2: this was I took physics in high school, and I'd
[1:05:58] Speaker 2: do any science in college. Well, I did, like astronomy.
[1:06:02] Speaker 2: Oh I started, And I remember I had a panicked
[1:06:04] Speaker 2: phone call with my dad that was like because I
[1:06:07] Speaker 2: was going to study film, and I was like, I
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: think I should be doing science, like this is I
[1:06:14] Speaker 2: think is real and is better, and he was like
[1:06:16] Speaker 2: get out of here, like you love making movies.
[1:06:19] Speaker 4: Wow, that's incredible. That's the opposite of any parent.
[1:06:21] Speaker 2: I know. It was really surprising, and yeah, he was.
[1:06:25] Speaker 2: I don't think I would want to do that. I
[1:06:27] Speaker 2: guess I would like to know more. I liked it.
[1:06:29] Speaker 2: I enjoyed it in a different way. Maybe right, But
[1:06:32] Speaker 2: how do you do that as a hobby?
[1:06:33] Speaker 4: Now, Well, you buy like a model rocket, or you
[1:06:36] Speaker 4: invest in Elon's space company or something. Oh god, yes, yeah, okay,
[1:06:43] Speaker 4: Well you did a beautiful job with the game. Was
[1:06:45] Speaker 4: gorgeously played. This is the last segment of the podcast.
[1:06:49] Speaker 4: It's called I Said No Emails people write into I
[1:06:53] Speaker 4: Said No Gifts at gmail dot com. My listeners their
[1:06:57] Speaker 4: lives are absolute messes. Every one of them seems to
[1:07:01] Speaker 4: have a problem and they have no one to turn
[1:07:03] Speaker 4: to in their own lives. So they listen to a
[1:07:06] Speaker 4: podcast and develop a relationship with me that they're emailing
[1:07:09] Speaker 4: me and begging for help, and so occasionally I say,
[1:07:13] Speaker 4: I'll help fine, will you help me.
[1:07:15] Speaker 2: I'll try my best because they're asking for your help.
[1:07:17] Speaker 4: Will This is deer Bridger and Guests. Oh okay, so
[1:07:21] Speaker 4: I feel like you qualify. Okay, deer Bridger and guest,
[1:07:24] Speaker 4: I am looking for a thank you gift for my
[1:07:26] Speaker 4: sixty year old father that he will actually use. My
[1:07:30] Speaker 4: wife and I bought a house in April twenty twenty two,
[1:07:33] Speaker 4: and my dad has been incredibly helpful with home repairs.
[1:07:36] Speaker 4: He retired last year from a career in software engineering,
[1:07:39] Speaker 4: and he's very handy with home repairs. In the last
[1:07:42] Speaker 4: several months, he replaced several sprinkler valves, and rewired the system,
[1:07:46] Speaker 4: updated our guest bathroom fixtures. I mean the details were
[1:07:50] Speaker 4: getting here is insane. That's the thing which involved removing
[1:07:54] Speaker 4: tile and detailed plumbing work. Helps diagnose a problem with
[1:07:57] Speaker 4: the wiring in my car, not even in the house.
[1:08:01] Speaker 4: He can't tell the difference between a house and a car.
[1:08:03] Speaker 4: Apparently and rewired our air conditioning unit. I'm having a
[1:08:08] Speaker 4: hard time here air conditioning unit after an encounter with
[1:08:11] Speaker 4: a weed whacker. Okay, that's why I was struggling. I
[1:08:13] Speaker 4: couldn't figure out what was half an encounter. My dad
[1:08:16] Speaker 4: has saved us thousands of dollars since we bought the house.
[1:08:19] Speaker 4: I know he likes having a project, but he truly
[1:08:21] Speaker 4: has done hours of manual labor for free. A month ago,
[1:08:23] Speaker 4: when working on the sprinklers, we gifted him a nice wheelbarrow.
[1:08:26] Speaker 4: Bad gift, that's my Oh okay, since the one he
[1:08:30] Speaker 4: was using is from the eighties and a bit rusty.
[1:08:33] Speaker 4: What can we give my dad to show her appreciation
[1:08:35] Speaker 4: for all his work the last several months. He's not
[1:08:38] Speaker 4: a sentimental man and would not accept cash or gift
[1:08:41] Speaker 4: cards from us. He likes watching basketball thrilling, and he
[1:08:44] Speaker 4: plays golf several days a week. All the best, Liz,
[1:08:48] Speaker 4: we're talking about a real guys guy here.
[1:08:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, And where do they don't say? Like where they live?
[1:08:53] Speaker 4: No, they live in a beautiful house.
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: We don't know where they're from. They said basketball. And
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: I'm also a basketball so I was gonna say, what
[1:09:00] Speaker 2: about tickets to a basketball game? But I don't know
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: if they're near any basketball or another basketball thing. If
[1:09:07] Speaker 2: it's sorry, I'm just diving run.
[1:09:10] Speaker 4: I mean, you're certainly more qualified to.
[1:09:11] Speaker 2: Because this was my other this is my other Vegas
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: trip was I went to something called the NBA Summer League,
[1:09:20] Speaker 2: which is where like the new draft picks and like
[1:09:24] Speaker 2: young players play in like a tournament basically, And so.
[1:09:28] Speaker 4: You're watching kind of a shadow NBA.
[1:09:31] Speaker 2: Yes, And but it has like a film festival vibe
[1:09:34] Speaker 2: because there's real players there watching their new young teammates
[1:09:38] Speaker 2: weird and there, and there's like two gyms going on
[1:09:40] Speaker 2: at once. So you're watching these like NBA level players
[1:09:45] Speaker 2: up close for very cheap. Wow. And it's like a
[1:09:50] Speaker 2: nice atmosphere because no one cares, but everyone's like, I
[1:09:53] Speaker 2: just want to see some good basketball, right, So it
[1:09:55] Speaker 2: was a blast. I had so much fun. So you
[1:09:59] Speaker 2: could send your dad to NBA Summer.
[1:10:00] Speaker 4: League and they get tickets or anything.
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: It's easy to get tickets, and the tickets were forty
[1:10:05] Speaker 2: dollars well for a whole day of basketball's and it's
[1:10:09] Speaker 2: like it was I mean we probably saw like three
[1:10:12] Speaker 2: game parts of three games, but you there's probably like
[1:10:15] Speaker 2: eight games a day.
[1:10:17] Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah, that's a perfect gift. I mean, a cheap
[1:10:20] Speaker 4: vage trip to Vegas is not that expensive, especially if
[1:10:23] Speaker 4: it's by bus.
[1:10:23] Speaker 2: And yes, we know now one of the buses might
[1:10:26] Speaker 2: be kind of rough.
[1:10:28] Speaker 4: This guy can he can handle anything.
[1:10:30] Speaker 2: There's also if your dad already doesn't subscribe the NBA
[1:10:33] Speaker 2: League Pass, okay, and that is like you, I've got
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: other gift ideas too. Does he like to read?
[1:10:40] Speaker 4: He doesn't like to read. He hates reading.
[1:10:41] Speaker 2: He hates the written words.
[1:10:45] Speaker 4: I would love if this email said he likes watching basketball,
[1:10:48] Speaker 4: grilling and he hates the written word.
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: Did he say they said grilling?
[1:10:51] Speaker 4: He does love grilling.
[1:10:52] Speaker 2: What about wood pellet grill? Oh, do you want one
[1:10:56] Speaker 2: of those? Well, that's when we talk talk about smoking.
[1:10:59] Speaker 2: That's the best way to do it. But I don't.
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: I own a charcoal grill, which I kind of like.
[1:11:03] Speaker 4: You like the taste of the charcoal.
[1:11:05] Speaker 2: Well, and I like that the the smoking is a
[1:11:07] Speaker 2: little bit more, is less like I just put it
[1:11:10] Speaker 2: in and like you're because on wood pillot grills. And
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: again I could just feel the listeners just racing it.
[1:11:17] Speaker 2: He's talking about the difference between a charcoal and a
[1:11:19] Speaker 2: wood pillot grill. Well, maybe the dad will like it.
[1:11:22] Speaker 2: Wood pellic grill, you could just put a thing in
[1:11:24] Speaker 2: and set it to the temperature and it just does it.
[1:11:26] Speaker 2: Where's charcoal is a little bit more of like you
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: got to keep your hands on it if you're making
[1:11:31] Speaker 2: the fire. You're right, I guess I like, I don't know,
[1:11:34] Speaker 2: it can be just I guess I Well, it's where
[1:11:37] Speaker 2: I'm comfortable. I wouldn't say I like it, but it
[1:11:39] Speaker 2: certainly is how I live my life.
[1:11:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, you thrive in a bit of just I took
[1:11:44] Speaker 4: the bus, why truly wild I took.
[1:11:49] Speaker 2: I chose to take the bus. So wood pellic grill
[1:11:52] Speaker 2: wag you beef grills, beef. This guy save thousands of dollars,
[1:11:58] Speaker 2: you could afford it.
[1:12:01] Speaker 4: I mean, yet the thousands have been saved here. And
[1:12:04] Speaker 4: I mean I have nothing to say. I mean, I
[1:12:06] Speaker 4: was just confused about the air conditioning getting attacked by
[1:12:08] Speaker 4: a weed whacker.
[1:12:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm curious about that. And cach please right back, sir.
[1:12:14] Speaker 4: Ma'am, ma'am. This is Liz, Liz.
[1:12:19] Speaker 2: She Yeah.
[1:12:20] Speaker 4: I mean, I think, if nothing else, just keep creating
[1:12:23] Speaker 4: projects for dad to work on. I think that's what
[1:12:25] Speaker 4: he wants.
[1:12:25] Speaker 2: It seems like he needs something. Also, there's like, I mean,
[1:12:28] Speaker 2: I don't know if he would do that, but there's
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: those like cool adult legos. Have you seen those? It's
[1:12:33] Speaker 2: like they do it's like architecture. So to be like,
[1:12:39] Speaker 2: what's that guy that does the houses that everyone likes,
[1:12:43] Speaker 2: the cool looking like square houses, falling water or whatever.
[1:12:48] Speaker 4: They do like him humiliated?
[1:12:49] Speaker 2: I can't think think we know who it is though,
[1:12:52] Speaker 2: but is that right? Yes? They do like you can
[1:12:55] Speaker 2: get like a Frank Lloyd Wright like lego thing. Oh oh,
[1:13:00] Speaker 2: and it is like officially Lego. Yeah, they do a Lego.
[1:13:04] Speaker 2: You could build a Lego typewriter that doesn't fully work
[1:13:08] Speaker 2: but functions.
[1:13:09] Speaker 4: And it certainly won't work for you.
[1:13:10] Speaker 2: No, I can't. Funting and pecking is not the way
[1:13:13] Speaker 2: to do it.
[1:13:14] Speaker 4: I'd like to look into that type. I've never built
[1:13:16] Speaker 4: a Lego thing. My brother would always build them for me,
[1:13:18] Speaker 4: which has led to later in life problems.
[1:13:21] Speaker 2: To build anything. Yeah, maybe you should kill a project
[1:13:24] Speaker 2: for you. You should get out there start rewiring. That's crazy.
[1:13:29] Speaker 2: It's not like my dad hung up some pictures or
[1:13:31] Speaker 2: run up a shelf. Rewiring problems.
[1:13:36] Speaker 4: Yeah, keep this guy around, I mean, and you probably
[1:13:40] Speaker 4: should pay him. He's probably quietly resenting her.
[1:13:43] Speaker 2: Yes, just more about okay, and more gifts. A nice knife,
[1:13:48] Speaker 2: a nice oh yeah, you know, a nice quality knife,
[1:13:51] Speaker 2: quality knife, A kind of cheap out on knives. Yes,
[1:13:54] Speaker 2: and it's get a really good one.
[1:13:57] Speaker 4: Yeah, like a two hundred dollars Is that a good
[1:13:59] Speaker 4: price for a knife?
[1:14:00] Speaker 2: To go even higher?
[1:14:00] Speaker 4: But yes, thousand dollars knife Victor RICKX or whatever. Isn't
[1:14:04] Speaker 4: that something?
[1:14:05] Speaker 2: It's there's some like Swiss brand, or like a Japanese
[1:14:08] Speaker 2: or Germans.
[1:14:10] Speaker 4: Germans making some German and Japanese. They know how to
[1:14:14] Speaker 4: work with a piece of steel cutting board.
[1:14:18] Speaker 2: I'm just thinking of gifts that I should be getting
[1:14:19] Speaker 2: people too.
[1:14:20] Speaker 4: I mean, you're an excellent dad gift to giver.
[1:14:22] Speaker 2: Obviously, I'm a better giver than a receiver. I'm terrible
[1:14:25] Speaker 2: at receiving gifts. You are, Yeah, because like in my family,
[1:14:29] Speaker 2: it just was not prioritized at all, and so I'm
[1:14:33] Speaker 2: just like uncomfortable. I'm so uncomfortable getting a gift. Yeah.
[1:14:36] Speaker 4: I just saw he didn't love this picture that my
[1:14:40] Speaker 4: love it. I'm gonna put it up on my fridge.
[1:14:42] Speaker 4: And people were like, oh, who's Jonah.
[1:14:43] Speaker 2: I'm like, he's a boy.
[1:14:46] Speaker 4: I haven't met him.
[1:14:47] Speaker 2: And they're like, police, this is a boy that I know,
[1:14:51] Speaker 2: a very young boy. He drew me a mouse. Yeah
[1:14:54] Speaker 2: that's how he thinks of me.
[1:14:57] Speaker 4: We answered, I mean you you just and more picked
[1:15:01] Speaker 4: up that job and took care of the season.
[1:15:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, I care so much, but I think about the
[1:15:07] Speaker 2: dad so much. You know, is that going to be me?
[1:15:09] Speaker 4: That's true, and you're gonna want do valuable you know
[1:15:12] Speaker 4: meaningful gift.
[1:15:13] Speaker 2: You know, I did ask. I told my wife. I
[1:15:16] Speaker 2: was like, for my birthday this year, I just want
[1:15:19] Speaker 2: Jonah to get me whatever. I just want to know
[1:15:21] Speaker 2: what he would.
[1:15:23] Speaker 4: Get, what he thinks of you or what you like.
[1:15:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, and he gave me a lump of hole. Now
[1:15:27] Speaker 2: he gave me he hates me. He got me the
[1:15:30] Speaker 2: uh stuffed h stuffed animal of like Hulk. Oh you know,
[1:15:35] Speaker 2: and he's sleeping. Oh so and I was like, I
[1:15:38] Speaker 2: like this, that's wonderful. I thought so too. I was like,
[1:15:41] Speaker 2: that's a great gift.
[1:15:42] Speaker 4: Why is the Hulk sleeping?
[1:15:43] Speaker 2: I think they have a few, you know, like it.
[1:15:46] Speaker 2: It's probably for them. It's just the money thing that's like, well,
[1:15:49] Speaker 2: this one's sleeping, this one anything, he's taking a shower like,
[1:15:52] Speaker 2: it's just Hulk throughout his day. I don't know. I
[1:15:54] Speaker 2: think it's to calm the kids down. I have no idea,
[1:15:57] Speaker 2: to be honest, I didn't ask that question.
[1:15:59] Speaker 4: Not a thing I associate with the Hulk.
[1:16:01] Speaker 2: Because my son has one of Winnie the Pooh sleeping.
[1:16:03] Speaker 4: Winnie the Poop punching somebody out.
[1:16:05] Speaker 2: Yes he's not yet throwing a build freaking out. That's
[1:16:08] Speaker 2: what happens with the hog. He freaks out.
[1:16:09] Speaker 4: I think he freaks out.
[1:16:10] Speaker 2: It's funny that they've they're just indoctrinating children out because
[1:16:14] Speaker 2: like Spider Man has a show for like toddlers.
[1:16:18] Speaker 4: Oh, so they have it for every level, every line
[1:16:21] Speaker 4: of just like Boil the Frogs.
[1:16:23] Speaker 2: I was saying that, Yes, Like, don't you think they're
[1:16:24] Speaker 2: gonna start coming out with like old ones.
[1:16:27] Speaker 4: Oh, they're definitely going to like where Spider Man's like
[1:16:29] Speaker 4: dealing with retirements or whatever.
[1:16:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely think that's gonna start coming soon to Like
[1:16:36] Speaker 2: we got to keep these guys on the hook.
[1:16:38] Speaker 4: Like Iron Man can no longer eat spicy food or something.
[1:16:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, oh he can't have night shade vegetables. He gives
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: him reflux. Golf clubs.
[1:16:49] Speaker 4: Yeah, golf clubs. I mean he's golfing several days.
[1:16:51] Speaker 2: A week for the dad.
[1:16:54] Speaker 4: Both the iron Man and the Dead iron Man must
[1:16:56] Speaker 4: be golfing.
[1:16:57] Speaker 2: He seems like a golfer. He seems like a golfer.
[1:16:59] Speaker 2: It's sad that I actually thought this year, I was like,
[1:17:02] Speaker 2: I'm starting to understand. I think white people like golf,
[1:17:06] Speaker 2: which has I've always hated it.
[1:17:08] Speaker 4: Do you golf?
[1:17:08] Speaker 2: No? I've just i'd I find it, if anything, to
[1:17:11] Speaker 2: be disturbing, just like disturbing that you're just like what
[1:17:15] Speaker 2: you just like take up all this space, so much
[1:17:17] Speaker 2: land and water, yes, like for what? And then now
[1:17:22] Speaker 2: I'm like, and I have. I went to in Los
[1:17:25] Speaker 2: feel As. There is that pitch and putt. Oh, sure,
[1:17:28] Speaker 2: like a three that was? I think that's what it's
[1:17:30] Speaker 2: called pitch and.
[1:17:31] Speaker 4: Put where you just go to a thing and hit balls.
[1:17:33] Speaker 2: No, no, no, that's a driving range. A pitch and
[1:17:35] Speaker 2: put is like three stroke small holes. Yes, but for
[1:17:42] Speaker 2: like it's a little bit you need, like you essentially
[1:17:44] Speaker 2: need a pitching no, a sandwich no, a wedge of
[1:17:48] Speaker 2: some iron of some kind of pitching pitching wedge, yes,
[1:17:53] Speaker 2: and a putter. That's you could do it with just
[1:17:56] Speaker 2: those two, right, So I went on craigslist and I
[1:17:58] Speaker 2: bought used ones. I bought two of those, and me
[1:18:01] Speaker 2: and my friends all shared two of the clubs because
[1:18:03] Speaker 2: no one else had them, but we did it. And
[1:18:05] Speaker 2: I was like, I see why this is fun. You
[1:18:07] Speaker 2: go out there, you can smoke whatever you want, you
[1:18:09] Speaker 2: can drink whatever you want. No one's gonna bother you.
[1:18:11] Speaker 2: And everyone's like, got these coolers on wheels and you're
[1:18:15] Speaker 2: essentially pictured. That's what I didn't realize is what's going
[1:18:18] Speaker 2: on on these golf.
[1:18:19] Speaker 4: Courses than a bowling alley.
[1:18:22] Speaker 2: It is trashier than a bowling alley because and but
[1:18:25] Speaker 2: you're getting some movement in and you're hanging out with
[1:18:28] Speaker 2: some friends.
[1:18:28] Speaker 4: Probably I know, I like the driving range.
[1:18:31] Speaker 2: I didn't realize this.
[1:18:33] Speaker 4: I'll never go. Well, I say that now you might.
[1:18:35] Speaker 4: Then we'll probably end up golf.
[1:18:36] Speaker 2: That pitching put is like six bucks because it's a
[1:18:39] Speaker 2: public thing.
[1:18:40] Speaker 4: Well, I've got the Scottish in me, and I feel
[1:18:42] Speaker 4: like the Scott's invented golf.
[1:18:44] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:18:44] Speaker 2: It seems like I was gonna I was gonna be
[1:18:47] Speaker 2: like it seems Scottish. But then I'm realizing that's like
[1:18:49] Speaker 2: a Robin Williams bit from like the eighties. I think, yeah,
[1:18:52] Speaker 2: he's talking about like we're gonna hit the ball all
[1:18:56] Speaker 2: the way into you know, I can't do Sorry, I'm
[1:18:58] Speaker 2: doing the wrong accents, but the whole you know, and
[1:19:00] Speaker 2: like like the idea of being wasted and just like
[1:19:03] Speaker 2: smacking a ball, a tiny ball really far into a
[1:19:06] Speaker 2: tiny hole is just like an insane game idea. It's
[1:19:09] Speaker 2: a wild game. It's a wild idea for a game.
[1:19:12] Speaker 2: Every other game is pretty much like it's.
[1:19:14] Speaker 4: Immediate contained you.
[1:19:18] Speaker 2: You can't even see it.
[1:19:19] Speaker 4: You have to just trust that there's a hole, that
[1:19:21] Speaker 4: there's something very far along.
[1:19:22] Speaker 2: They're sort of in nature, but not really. You cleaned
[1:19:24] Speaker 2: it up a bit for some reason. For you, you've
[1:19:27] Speaker 2: made it indoors. Essentially, you did make nature kind of.
[1:19:31] Speaker 2: It's just a lot of carpet. Have you ever been
[1:19:34] Speaker 2: to Pebble Beach is up by Monterey? No.
[1:19:38] Speaker 4: I thought Pebble Beach was in Florida.
[1:19:42] Speaker 2: I it sounds like, come on, Pebble Beach sounds like Florida.
[1:19:44] Speaker 2: It sounds like it's sounds like, yeah, oh, pebble Beach. Yeah,
[1:19:48] Speaker 2: there is a beach. It's probably just Koopa Beach or
[1:19:50] Speaker 2: but anyway, but Pebble Beach would be a great Mario
[1:19:52] Speaker 2: car track and a great trashy beach in Florida. But
[1:19:56] Speaker 2: it is a beautiful golf course up by Mono, right, Okay,
[1:20:01] Speaker 2: it's cliff side, gorgeous and you can pay money, which
[1:20:05] Speaker 2: I did to drive around it without golfing. But I
[1:20:09] Speaker 2: was like, this is the most beautiful golf course I've
[1:20:11] Speaker 2: ever seen. And but then you're like, but wouldn't it
[1:20:14] Speaker 2: be a lot more beautiful if it wasn't a golf.
[1:20:16] Speaker 4: Course just nature?
[1:20:18] Speaker 2: So you're like, well, yeah, this is sort of the
[1:20:21] Speaker 2: b minus of what. It's nice certainly, but you know,
[1:20:25] Speaker 2: the natural surroundings of if downgraded northern California are unbeatable
[1:20:32] Speaker 2: and you put a golf course there. Wow. Yeah yeah,
[1:20:35] Speaker 2: Pebble Beach not the place you would think.
[1:20:38] Speaker 4: Wow, yeah, you've really shattered my reality.
[1:20:40] Speaker 2: It seems like where you would go on like a
[1:20:42] Speaker 2: family vacation or something and be like this is a
[1:20:46] Speaker 2: little too trashy, like Ocean City, Maryland's. So that was
[1:20:50] Speaker 2: we did that from New Jersey.
[1:20:52] Speaker 4: Oh that makes sense, and.
[1:20:53] Speaker 2: Many New Jersey shore prices, your wild woods, you're they
[1:20:57] Speaker 2: should all be called pebble Beach. It should just be like, yes,
[1:21:00] Speaker 2: or that should be the name of Like we thought
[1:21:02] Speaker 2: it was gonna be nice, but it was more like
[1:21:03] Speaker 2: a pebble beach. You just know.
[1:21:07] Speaker 4: Well, I think we we answered Liz's question perfectly. Oh yeah,
[1:21:11] Speaker 4: her dad's going to be absolutely showered with gifts.
[1:21:13] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:21:14] Speaker 4: I hope it's kind of causing Liz more in gifts
[1:21:17] Speaker 4: than she could have should have just paid a contract
[1:21:20] Speaker 4: or knives and so much basketball stuff, and she's ruined.
[1:21:24] Speaker 4: She's gonna have to sell the house.
[1:21:26] Speaker 2: Shame too, because it's got great where.
[1:21:28] Speaker 4: You're just housing a car to boot ye walking up
[1:21:32] Speaker 4: and running. Good luck Liz, Good luck Dan. I've now
[1:21:38] Speaker 4: got this beautiful piece of art, gorgeous. You're going to
[1:21:41] Speaker 4: take this bag home with you, Yes, this peapad, and
[1:21:46] Speaker 4: I'm happy for both of us.
[1:21:48] Speaker 2: I think we you know what. The deal we struck
[1:21:50] Speaker 2: here was a fair one, a perfect deal. Deal. Everybody
[1:21:54] Speaker 2: got a little something. No one's thrilled, but we got
[1:21:58] Speaker 2: a good compromise.
[1:21:59] Speaker 4: I would love to wrap up a conversation on this
[1:22:02] Speaker 4: podcast with Dan. I'm not thrilled with the way this went.
[1:22:05] Speaker 4: Not thrilled bad, but I'm not saying it was bad.
[1:22:07] Speaker 4: I'm just saying I'm being realistic here.
[1:22:09] Speaker 2: It was fine. It's fine, and that's good for me. Yeah,
[1:22:13] Speaker 2: most of my life is very painful. It could be bad,
[1:22:15] Speaker 2: things could be horrible out in the real world. But
[1:22:17] Speaker 2: this was okay, it was pleasant, it was fine. It's
[1:22:21] Speaker 2: gonna be way better when you go back inside to
[1:22:23] Speaker 2: your warm home, get under some covers, maybe.
[1:22:26] Speaker 4: I have to go to a friend's house after this.
[1:22:28] Speaker 2: Oh, you do stuff.
[1:22:29] Speaker 4: This has been a long time coming, and I'm committed
[1:22:32] Speaker 4: to a thing and I'm you know, I don't know.
[1:22:34] Speaker 2: Oh, I'll be in bed within hours.
[1:22:38] Speaker 4: I baked cookies for this. Really, I've been a whirlwind today.
[1:22:42] Speaker 2: You bake, though, I bake because I say you the
[1:22:45] Speaker 2: cooking was such a like cooking. So your cookies is
[1:22:51] Speaker 2: your cookies? And are you just following recipes? Are you
[1:22:54] Speaker 2: going nuts out there?
[1:22:55] Speaker 4: I follow recipes and then I bend them to my
[1:22:57] Speaker 4: own will. And the kind of cookies we're talking tonight,
[1:22:59] Speaker 4: I mean it's almost always chocolate chip cookies, just different
[1:23:02] Speaker 4: variations of the form.
[1:23:03] Speaker 2: What do we got tonight?
[1:23:04] Speaker 4: They have finally chopped while nut in them, I used
[1:23:07] Speaker 4: a variety of flowers.
[1:23:09] Speaker 2: M Yeah, that's always nice. Give it a little more omph, Yeah,
[1:23:12] Speaker 2: a little more oomph.
[1:23:14] Speaker 4: Any coco to it for an extra chocolate boost? Lovely,
[1:23:18] Speaker 4: I think they're gonna be good.
[1:23:19] Speaker 2: That sounds great.
[1:23:20] Speaker 4: You said you bake.
[1:23:21] Speaker 2: I did a little bit during the pandemic. Well, Kelly
[1:23:24] Speaker 2: really got into the whole sour dough thing, oh right,
[1:23:26] Speaker 2: which was awesome because she really was getting better. It
[1:23:29] Speaker 2: was interesting to see someone getting better. I don't know
[1:23:32] Speaker 2: if I've seen that, like a skill improving. Yeah, like adult,
[1:23:35] Speaker 2: does anyone do that anything? Does anyone get better at
[1:23:37] Speaker 2: things anymore? We only get worse or stay the same.
[1:23:41] Speaker 2: So it's really cool to be like, these are really good.
[1:23:44] Speaker 2: So we had great bread, incredible warm bread.
[1:23:46] Speaker 4: It was so good.
[1:23:47] Speaker 2: It smells so good. That was great. I baked a
[1:23:50] Speaker 2: few things from various cookbooks. But were there any hitting Yes,
[1:23:54] Speaker 2: there was a hit that I should make again. It
[1:23:57] Speaker 2: was from the woman who owns Squirrel, that restaurant.
[1:24:00] Speaker 4: Oh sure, kind of you know, like, yes, had some trouble.
[1:24:03] Speaker 2: Had some trouble which worked out great for me as
[1:24:05] Speaker 2: a fan of that restaurant. That was like, okay, there
[1:24:07] Speaker 2: would you just be less people here?
[1:24:08] Speaker 4: Empty jam?
[1:24:10] Speaker 2: Yeah. But she had a thing that was a ginger
[1:24:15] Speaker 2: carrot loaf. Oh so sort of a yes, a bread,
[1:24:19] Speaker 2: kind of a quick bread of sorts, ginger and carrot delicious,
[1:24:23] Speaker 2: you know that kind of cinnamon spicy stuff and then
[1:24:27] Speaker 2: on top black sesame seeds and it gives it this
[1:24:30] Speaker 2: nice crunchy crust on top. It sounds incredible. It was
[1:24:33] Speaker 2: really good. It was easy to make very easy. I
[1:24:35] Speaker 2: made it and I'm not a baker.
[1:24:37] Speaker 4: Of And were you eating as like a breakfast food.
[1:24:40] Speaker 2: We were doing it as a treat, I think. But
[1:24:43] Speaker 2: you could have it at breakfast, that'd be cool.
[1:24:45] Speaker 4: Yeah. If something doesn't have chocolate and a baked good,
[1:24:47] Speaker 4: I just assume it's a breadthreast.
[1:24:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, this is what. Yeah, it could be. It'd be
[1:24:50] Speaker 2: nice as a bread.
[1:24:51] Speaker 4: That bread sounds incredible.
[1:24:52] Speaker 2: It is really good and it's I made it for
[1:24:54] Speaker 2: my in laws, and again I spoke, they're good bakers.
[1:24:56] Speaker 2: They're good cooks. So that was like I could they
[1:24:59] Speaker 2: were wowed by it, and they were wowed. I would
[1:25:01] Speaker 2: love to wow a crowd. To wow a crowd of
[1:25:04] Speaker 2: people who have been cooking for you for like a
[1:25:06] Speaker 2: decade now that I've made nothing for them, was vindicating.
[1:25:09] Speaker 2: You know, it is good for all of us.
[1:25:11] Speaker 4: Okay, I'm gonna look that recipe up listener. You should too,
[1:25:14] Speaker 4: send it to Please. Please don't make me do the work,
[1:25:17] Speaker 4: don't you dare. I'm not gonna lift a finger.
[1:25:19] Speaker 2: You don't do a thing. You go straight to your
[1:25:21] Speaker 2: friend's house and you get there, there will be an email.
[1:25:24] Speaker 4: Just sitting there waiting for me. Dan No, I've really
[1:25:27] Speaker 4: had a wonderful time. I'm so happy you could remember
[1:25:30] Speaker 4: this at the last.
[1:25:32] Speaker 2: Sir, and rush over dangerously.
[1:25:36] Speaker 4: Thank you so much for being Thank you so much

[1:25:42] Speaker 4: it up. It's time to move on with your day

[1:25:47] Speaker 4: I really don't know that it's any of my business.
[1:25:49] Speaker 4: A routine they have, they've got a routine. Everybody's got
[1:25:52] Speaker 4: a routine.
[1:25:53] Speaker 2: Turn the winding down of the podcast.
[1:25:55] Speaker 4: Yeah, they know. They've been thinking for a few minutes.
[1:25:57] Speaker 2: Time.
[1:25:57] Speaker 4: I got to get doing my next thing. Got to
[1:25:59] Speaker 4: start sending a threatening email to Bridger or I've got
[1:26:01] Speaker 4: to start doing whatever.
[1:26:03] Speaker 2: Threatening voicemail to yo yo ma ah.
[1:26:08] Speaker 4: No, listener, go do whatever you want. Maybe insist your
[1:26:11] Speaker 4: coworker listen to the podcast. I don't know, do whatever
[1:26:13] Speaker 4: you want. Don't be a nuisance. Okay, we've got to
[1:26:16] Speaker 4: end the podcast. I love you, goodbye, I said. No
[1:26:24] Speaker 4: Gifts is an exactly right production. It's produced by our
[1:26:27] Speaker 4: dear friend Annalise Nilson and it's beautifully mixed by Leona
[1:26:31] Speaker 4: Squilatchi and we couldn't do it without our guest booker
[1:26:34] Speaker 4: Patrick Kottner. The theme song, of course, could only come
[1:26:39] Speaker 4: from miracle Worker Amy Man. You must follow the show
[1:26:43] Speaker 4: on Instagram. At I said, no gifts. I don't want
[1:26:45] Speaker 4: to hear any excuses. That's where you get to see
[1:26:48] Speaker 4: pictures of all these gorgeous gifts I'm getting. And don't
[1:26:50] Speaker 4: you want to see pictures of the gifts?
[1:26:54] Speaker 2: Line? Why did you hear?
[1:26:58] Speaker 1: Thuna man? Myself perfickly clear, But you're I guess to
[1:27:03] Speaker 1: my home. You gotta come to me empty? And I said, no, guess,
[1:27:12] Speaker 1: You're own presences, presents enough.
[1:27:16] Speaker 3: I already had too much stuff, So how do you
[1:27:21] Speaker 3: dare to surbey me
