## Transcript

[0:04] Proverbs chapter 24 Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire
[0:12] to be with them, for their minds plot violence, and their lips
[0:17] talk of trouble for the innocent.
[0:21] Through skillful and godly wisdom a house, a life, a home,
[0:27] a family is built, and by understanding it is established
[0:33] on a sound and good foundation, and by knowledge it's rooms are
[0:40] filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
[0:45] A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge strengthens his
[0:50] power. For by wise guidance you can
[0:54] wage your war, and in an abundance of wise counselors
[0:59] there is victory and safety. Wisdom is too exalted for a
[1:05] hardened, arrogant fool. He does not open his mouth in
[1:10] the gate where the city's rulers sit in judgement.
[1:15] He who plans to do evil will be called a schemer or divisor of
[1:21] evil. The devising of folly is sin,
[1:26] and the scoffer is repulsive to men.
[1:30] If you are slack or careless in the day of distress, your
[1:35] strength is limited. Rescue those who are being taken
[1:40] away to death, and those who stagger to the slaughter.
[1:45] Oh, hold them back from their doom if you claim ignorance and
[1:51] say, See, we did not know this. Does he not consider it?
[1:57] Who weighs and examines the hearts and their motives?
[2:01] And does he not know it who guards your life and keeps your
[2:06] soul? And will he not repay you and
[2:09] every man according to his works?
[2:13] My son, eat honey because it is good and the drippings of the
[2:18] honeycomb are sweet to your taste.
[2:22] Know that skillful and godly wisdom is so very good for your
[2:28] life and soul. If you find wisdom, then there
[2:32] will be a future and a reward, and your hope and expectation
[2:39] will not be cut off. Do not lie in wait, O wicked
[2:44] man, against the dwelling of the righteous.
[2:48] Do not destroy his resting place, for a righteous man falls
[2:53] 7 times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of
[3:00] disaster and collapse. Do not rejoice and gloat when
[3:06] your enemy falls and do not let your heart be glad in self
[3:12] righteousness when he stumbles or the Lord will see your
[3:17] gloating and be displeased and turn his anger away from your
[3:23] enemy. Do not get upset because of evil
[3:26] doers or be envious of the wicked, for there will be no
[3:32] future for the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be
[3:37] put out. My son, fear the Lord and the
[3:42] King, and do not associate with those who are given to change of
[3:47] allegiance and are revolutionary.
[3:50] For their tragedy will rise suddenly, and who knows the
[3:55] punishment that both the Lord and the King will bring on the
[3:59] rebellious. These also are sayings of the
[4:03] wise. To show partiality in judgement
[4:08] is not good. He who says to the wicked you
[4:12] are righteous, peoples will curse him, nations will denounce
[4:17] him, but to those honorable judges who rebuke the wicked, it
[4:24] will go well with them, and they will find delight and a good
[4:29] blessing will come upon them. He kisses the lips and wins the
[4:34] hearts of people who gives a right and straightforward
[4:39] answer. Prepare your work outside and
[4:43] get it ready for yourself in the field.
[4:46] Afterward build your house and establish a home.
[4:50] Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do
[4:56] not deceive with your lips. Speak neither lies nor half
[5:00] truths. Do not say I will do to him as
[5:05] he has done to me. I will pay the man back for his
[5:08] deed. I went by the field of the lazy
[5:12] man, and by the vineyard of the man lacking understanding and
[5:17] common sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns, and
[5:24] nettles were covering its surface, and its Stonewall was
[5:29] broken down. When I saw, I considered it.
[5:33] Well, I looked and received instruction.
[5:38] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the
[5:43] hands to rest and Daydream, then your poverty will come as a
[5:49] robber and you're once like an armed man.
