## Transcript

[0:04] Proverbs chapter 17 Better is a dry morsel of food served with
[0:11] quietness and peace, than a house full of feasting served
[0:17] with strife and contention. A wise servant will rule over
[0:23] the unworthy son who acts shamefully and brings disgrace
[0:29] to the family, and the worthy servant will share in the
[0:34] inheritance among the brothers. The refining pot is for silver
[0:40] and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests hearts.
[0:46] An evildoer listens closely to wicked lips, and a liar pays
[0:53] attention to a destructive and malicious tongue.
[0:58] Whoever mocks the poor taunts his Maker, and he who rejoices
[1:04] at another's disaster will not go unpunished.
[1:09] Grandchildren are the crown of aged men, and the glory of
[1:15] children is their fathers who live godly lives.
[1:20] Excellent speech does not benefit a fool who is
[1:24] spiritually blind, much less do lying lips benefit a Prince.
[1:31] A bribe is like a bright precious stone in the eyes of
[1:36] its owner. Wherever he turns, he prospers.
[1:41] He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, but he who
[1:48] repeats or gossips about a matter separates intimate
[1:53] friends. A reprimand goes deeper into one
[1:57] who has understanding and a teachable spirit than 100 lashes
[2:03] into a fool. A rebellious man seeks only
[2:08] evil, Therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against
[2:13] him. Let a man meet a ferocious bear
[2:17] robbed of her Cubs, rather than the angry narcissistic fool in
[2:23] his folly. Whoever returns evil for good,
[2:29] evil will not depart from his house.
[2:32] The beginning of strife is like letting out water as from a
[2:36] small break in a dam. First it trickles and then it
[2:41] gushes. Therefore abandoned the coral
[2:46] before it breaks out and tempers explode.
[2:50] He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous,
[2:56] are both repulsive to the Lord. Why is there money in the hand
[3:01] of a fool to buy wisdom, when he has no common sense or even a
[3:08] heart for it? A friend loves at all times, and
[3:13] a brother is born for adversity. A man lacking common sense gives
[3:21] a pledge and becomes guarantor for the debt of another in the
[3:26] presence of his neighbor. He who loves transgression,
[3:31] loves strife and is quarrelsome. He who proudly raises his gate
[3:38] seeks destruction because of his arrogant pride.
[3:43] He who has a crooked mind finds no good, and he who is perverted
[3:49] in his language falls into evil. He who becomes the parent of a
[3:55] fool who is spiritually blind does so to his sorrow, and the
[4:02] father of a fool who is spiritually blind has no joy.
[4:08] A happy heart is good medicine, and a joyful mind causes
[4:13] healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
[4:19] A wicked man receives A bribe from the hidden pockets to
[4:24] pervert the ways of justice. Skillful and godly wisdom is in
[4:30] the presence of a person of understanding and he recognizes
[4:35] it, but the eyes of a thick headed fool are on the ends of
[4:40] the earth. A foolish son is a grief and
[4:45] anguish to his father and bitterness to her who gave birth
[4:50] to him. It is also not good to find the
[4:54] righteous, nor to strike the noble for their uprightness.
[5:00] He who has knowledge, restrains and is careful with his words
[5:06] and a man of understanding and wisdom, has a cool spirit or
[5:11] self-control and even temper. Even a callous arrogant fool,
[5:19] when he keeps silent, is considered wise when he closes
[5:24] his lips. He is regarded as sensible or
[5:27] prudent, discreet, and a man of understanding.
