[0:01] Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, the truth about sorority life with
[0:04] Speaker 1: your hosts, me, Gia Giudice.
[0:06] Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler. Hi, everybody. I'm so excited
[0:14] Speaker 2: to be joined. Well, I feel like I'm the one joining,
[0:17] Speaker 2: but Jen Fessler and Joan. Hi, everybody. We are here
[0:25] Speaker 2: for the Dirty Rush podcast. We're waiting for Gia, so
[0:27] Speaker 2: we're just going to start. She's going to jump in
[0:29] Speaker 2: when she gets here. But I love all things Rush
[0:35] Speaker 2: because sorority life was such a big part of my
[0:38] Speaker 2: life in college and actually still is. So whenever I
[0:41] Speaker 2: get the chance to do the Dirty Rush podcast, I'm
[0:44] Speaker 2: so excited to do it. Not only, you know... because
[0:48] Speaker 2: of the sorority life, but because I get to see
[0:49] Speaker 2: your beautiful faces.
[0:51] Speaker 3: I love every time you come on. It's like, first
[0:53] Speaker 3: of all, well, you and Joan both, you sort of,
[0:55] Speaker 3: to me, look the part. You just both look like
[0:57] Speaker 3: sorority girls.
[0:58] Speaker 4: We wore pink today.
[1:00] Speaker 2: Pink.
[1:00] Speaker 3: I'm wearing my pink.
[1:01] Speaker 4: Purposely wear pink, but.
[1:03] Speaker 3: I mean, I know, but like, you're just both so.
[1:06] Speaker 3: blonde and young and perky and young.
[1:10] Speaker 2: I'm 63.
[1:11] Speaker 1: I'm so old.
[1:12] Speaker 2: Literally, I was just telling Joan before you came on,
[1:14] Speaker 2: these might look like highlights, but this is all gray.
[1:17] Speaker 2: And literally, when we're done, I'm going to the hair salon.
[1:19] Speaker 2: That's my girl.
[1:21] Speaker 3: That's my girl.
[1:22] Speaker 5: I was in a sorority in the 80s. I'm so old.
[1:27] Speaker 5: I felt that some of the questions were like, what
[1:29] Speaker 5: did you wear at Rush? I'm like, I have absolutely
[1:31] Speaker 5: no idea what I wore at Rush.
[1:32] Speaker 1: It's ridiculous.
[1:33] Speaker 3: I mean, whatever I fit into at the time.
[1:34] Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Exactly.
[1:35] Speaker 2: And there were no pictures.
[1:37] Speaker 3: Yes.
[1:37] Speaker 2: No pictures, right?
[1:38] Speaker 3: Well, have you guys been keeping up with Rush Talk?
[1:42] Speaker 3: I guess that's mom talk, tick talk. Now there's Rush Talk.
[1:48] Speaker 4: Rush Talk is amazing.
[1:50] Speaker 3: I don't know how these girls are doing this. No,
[1:52] Speaker 3: I don't either.
[1:53] Speaker 2: And I have college age kids. Well, almost. Blakeslee will
[1:57] Speaker 2: be there next year. But we wanted to get together
[1:59] Speaker 2: to talk about sorority, sorority recruitment and all things fashion
[2:04] Speaker 2: when it comes to the new recruits and what they
[2:07] Speaker 2: have to think about. My gosh, it's crazy how much
[2:11] Speaker 2: they have to think about.
[2:12] Speaker 3: It's upsetting actually a little bit, but.
[2:14] Speaker 4: I agree with you again. I want to talk about that.
[2:17] Speaker 3: One of my friends online reached out and said, and
[2:19] Speaker 3: sent me like 85 at Texas there, whatever rush videos.
[2:24] Speaker 3: Cause now all the girls are dancing and she's like,
[2:26] Speaker 3: we did not look like this. And I'm like, I'm
[2:30] Speaker 3: not even sure I was in that sorority anymore.
[2:33] Speaker 4: I couldn't be in it. I couldn't spend enough money.
[2:35] Speaker 4: I couldn't dance well enough. I would not fit in.
[2:39] Speaker 4: I worry a little bit. That's part of it. First
[2:41] Speaker 4: of all, have we lost sight of why we're going
[2:44] Speaker 4: to college? Number one, in my mind. I feel like
[2:47] Speaker 4: we have.
[2:48] Speaker 5: You know, the beginning, first couple of weeks of college,
[2:50] Speaker 5: it seems like are all about sororities and, you know,
[2:52] Speaker 5: about sororities. And so much of it now feels like
[2:56] Speaker 5: a class system to me that you have to be
[2:58] Speaker 5: so wealthy or so connected to be in a sorority
[3:03] Speaker 5: these days.
[3:03] Speaker 3: Look who's joined us. Little Miss Gia Giudice.
[3:07] Speaker 4: We needed some young blood. Thank you.
[3:10] Speaker 1: Hello. So nice to meet you.
[3:11] Speaker 2: Great tan, Gia. Great tan.
[3:14] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[3:15] Speaker 3: We're talking about Rush Talk.
[3:18] Speaker 1: Probably a lot different from when you were in a sorority, right?
[3:21] Speaker 1: How the times have changed.
[3:22] Speaker 3: You think?
[3:24] Speaker 2: All of us.
[3:25] Speaker 3: Yeah. We should have brought our pictures from Rush because.
[3:30] Speaker 1: I know.
[3:31] Speaker 3: I mean, I just, I look back at it. I mean,
[3:33] Speaker 3: I had that, I had a head of just curly
[3:36] Speaker 3: hair that I was scrunching, scrunching, scrunching, like a big
[3:39] Speaker 3: triangle on top of my head. And then some, I
[3:42] Speaker 3: don't know, some ruffly outfit was just all wrong.
[3:47] Speaker 5: I think I had the blonde like feather look all
[3:49] Speaker 5: the way down as much as I could get. And
[3:51] Speaker 5: I think I had a light blue puffy dress.
[3:53] Speaker 3: Right.
[3:54] Speaker 4: That's the only one I remember.
[3:55] Speaker 1: Some of these insopics are so funny.
[3:58] Speaker 3: I mean, I'm looking at all these. We have several
[4:00] Speaker 3: pictures here. It feels like these girls are kind of
[4:03] Speaker 3: going back to this sort of 50s housewife vibe. Is
[4:06] Speaker 3: that true, Gia?
[4:07] Speaker 1: I think it's maybe not to the extent, but I
[4:10] Speaker 1: think everything does still come back. And I think it's
[4:14] Speaker 1: a lot of like the floral pattern that I'm seeing.
[4:17] Speaker 1: And even just like the flowy sundresses. I think that's
[4:21] Speaker 1: kind of what's been coming back.
[4:23] Speaker 3: Like more, um, Love Shack fancy.
[4:26] Speaker 1: Like a Love Shack fancy vibe. Like that's kind of
[4:29] Speaker 1: what it is.
[4:30] Speaker 5: The pictures that I'm looking at here, the bows are gigantic.
[4:34] Speaker 2: Gigantic.
[4:35] Speaker 5: I am like, they take up, they're like the size
[4:37] Speaker 5: of their entire width of the girls.
[4:39] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[4:40] Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that top row with the bow skirts
[4:44] Speaker 1: are maybe a bit out of my comfort zone, but
[4:49] Speaker 1: I feel like the puppy sleeves are coming back. That's like,
[4:52] Speaker 1: those are very cute with some dresses, but I think
[4:55] Speaker 1: the bow skirts are a bit much. A lot.
[4:58] Speaker 2: And not only are they huge bow skirts, but they're
[5:01] Speaker 2: also in this super shiny, like.
[5:04] Speaker 3: Tap-a-dog.
[5:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, like really thick material, kind of like you would wear...
[5:10] Speaker 2: at a wedding in the eighties.
[5:12] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[5:12] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. That's the vibe I was getting.
[5:15] Speaker 5: And like the pink is so pink, like it's Barbie
[5:19] Speaker 5: candy pink.
[5:20] Speaker 3: I feel like if you guys, there's this one dress
[5:22] Speaker 3: we have, we are all looking at under the puppy sleeve.
[5:24] Speaker 3: That looks like, to me, it looks like Daisy Kent
[5:26] Speaker 3: in that first picture, the white, that little white dress
[5:29] Speaker 3: with the puppy sleeves.
[5:30] Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. I mean, I know a lot of people,
[5:32] Speaker 1: especially from Bama Rush know Kyle and Darnell. And she's awesome.
[5:37] Speaker 1: She just recently graduated University of Bama, but her sister
[5:40] Speaker 1: is still a student there. What?
[5:42] Speaker 3: Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What?
[5:43] Speaker 1: Who?
[5:44] Speaker 2: What?
[5:44] Speaker 1: Where?
[5:45] Speaker 2: What?
[5:46] Speaker 1: Kylan Darnell. So she basically... I want to say she
[5:53] Speaker 1: started Rush TikTok. She went really viral at the University
[5:56] Speaker 1: of Alabama. And she kind of showed the girls like,
[6:01] Speaker 1: Hey guys, get dressed with me for my first day
[6:03] Speaker 1: of Rush. And she was really into it. A full-blown
[6:09] Speaker 1: sorority girl at heart. Loved every second of it. Embraced it.
[6:13] Speaker 1: Loved the outfit planning. And she was very... she was
[6:17] Speaker 1: very intricate with how she planned her outfits. She had
[6:20] Speaker 1: some of them even designed, like very meticulous about everything
[6:25] Speaker 1: that she wore when it came to rush, but it
[6:28] Speaker 1: was always simple, but cute. Sometimes she went over the
[6:31] Speaker 1: top of course, but it was the detailing and her
[6:35] Speaker 1: outfits that really, um, Kylan Darnell is actually, um, the
[6:39] Speaker 1: blue bond in the hair and makeup. Like she's the
[6:42] Speaker 1: blonde with the curly hair. Yes. Wow.
[6:46] Speaker 3: That is what in the JonBenet Ramsey is going on there. Really?
[6:51] Speaker 2: I need to look her up because I, my daughter
[6:55] Speaker 2: will be maybe going through rush next year. Okay. I've
[6:57] Speaker 2: got her. Um, I, you guys before in, in prepping
[7:01] Speaker 2: for this podcast, I called a friend of mine who
[7:05] Speaker 2: I went to Indiana university with, we were both red steppers.
[7:09] Speaker 2: So we danced for the football team and she has
[7:11] Speaker 2: I think I've talked about it here on dirty rush
[7:14] Speaker 2: before she has an organization called crush my rush. And
[7:16] Speaker 2: I guess, I think you guys have quoted her sometimes
[7:19] Speaker 2: or her company or whatever. And I was like, I
[7:22] Speaker 2: just want to know what you, what tips you give
[7:26] Speaker 2: to these girls based on like the fashion, like what
[7:28] Speaker 2: do you recommend that they do? And she said, the
[7:31] Speaker 2: number one thing is just to be yourself. So this
[7:34] Speaker 2: Kylan Darnell is like, you know, getting things made like
[7:38] Speaker 2: for her, For her personality. So really just showcasing your personality,
[7:43] Speaker 2: I feel like is big.
[7:44] Speaker 1: Well, and that's what she... I mean, she is from
[7:47] Speaker 1: a small town in Missouri. Grew up on a farm.
[7:50] Speaker 1: This girl, Kylan.
[7:51] Speaker 2: Kylan is.
[7:51] Speaker 1: Got it. She literally just got to Bama and embraced it.
[7:57] Speaker 1: She grew up in the pageant world a little bit,
[7:59] Speaker 1: but I mean, she also was fully... grew up on
[8:03] Speaker 1: a farm in Missouri has cows, horses, like you name it,
[8:06] Speaker 1: like ride side by sides, like can also get like,
[8:10] Speaker 1: get down and dirty in the mud, but then can
[8:12] Speaker 1: also like glam up for sorority rush. Yeah.
[8:16] Speaker 3: But now everybody else is trying to look like her.
[8:18] Speaker 3: So how are they trying to be themselves?
[8:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, she definitely did set the bar. I mean, honestly, I,
[8:24] Speaker 1: I think the best thing it's like, you obviously have
[8:27] Speaker 1: your three rounds. Obviously the last round, which is prep
[8:31] Speaker 1: round is like your most, like you should dress up
[8:34] Speaker 1: the most for pref and I feel like now whenever
[8:38] Speaker 1: I get asked of like what people should wear during
[8:40] Speaker 1: pref round I feel like just like silk nice like
[8:44] Speaker 1: cocktail dresses I feel like it's like a fancier vibe
[8:47] Speaker 1: but then for the two rounds prior to it like
[8:51] Speaker 1: you can also be wearing really cute skirts with body
[8:54] Speaker 1: suits or nice sundresses yeah like I just feel like
[8:58] Speaker 1: you can also pick a dress that best suits you,
[9:02] Speaker 1: but just follow that category.
[9:04] Speaker 2: I have a question though, because Jen was saying that
[9:07] Speaker 2: at a lot of the schools now, they actually are
[9:11] Speaker 2: giving them t-shirts. Did you have to wear a t-shirt?
[9:14] Speaker 1: I did.
[9:15] Speaker 2: And what do you do? Cause she was saying that
[9:17] Speaker 2: you get a t-shirt like two days before sometimes. So
[9:20] Speaker 2: you can't even plan what you're gonna wear on the bottom.
[9:23] Speaker 2: Like you would just have to pick out something and
[9:25] Speaker 2: hope that it matches.
[9:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, not gonna lie. I'm like trying to think back
[9:29] Speaker 1: onto like what I wore. It was a black shirt.
[9:32] Speaker 1: I wanna say this was probably during open house round.
[9:35] Speaker 1: Everyone wore the t-shirt during the first round so that
[9:38] Speaker 1: everyone was cohesive as they were going through the houses. But,
[9:43] Speaker 1: and then, yeah, I think I literally wore jeans, like
[9:45] Speaker 1: ripped jeans.
[9:47] Speaker 5: I love the thought of, Like having that as like
[9:50] Speaker 5: the standards. So everybody kind of dresses a little bit
[9:53] Speaker 5: the same because I feel like maybe you are dressing
[9:56] Speaker 5: in a way that you wouldn't normally dress. So you're
[9:58] Speaker 5: like showing yourself in a different way. And maybe you
[10:01] Speaker 5: would end up in a sorority or like that really
[10:04] Speaker 5: isn't a great match for your personality. And I looked
[10:06] Speaker 5: at like these outfits and these girls are all dressed
[10:09] Speaker 5: like really very differently. Like there's a girl that is
[10:12] Speaker 5: from University of Oregon and she actually has jeans and
[10:15] Speaker 5: a belly shirt on. And then they're the one that's
[10:18] Speaker 5: next to her who is at the University of Miami.
[10:20] Speaker 5: And she has a much like kind of straight cut
[10:23] Speaker 5: black dress, black and white dress on. I feel like
[10:26] Speaker 5: their personalities are coming out in these outfits. And if
[10:30] Speaker 5: everybody is trying to dress like over the top with
[10:32] Speaker 5: the big bows and the puffy sleeves and looking like
[10:35] Speaker 5: everybody else and everybody has the flowered skirts on, then
[10:38] Speaker 5: everybody's now looking the same and you're not really showcasing
[10:41] Speaker 5: your personality.
[10:41] Speaker 4: And I just wish that. Like that would be more important.
[10:45] Speaker 3: I don't know at that age, you know, it's like,
[10:48] Speaker 3: I go back to my 18, 19, whatever year old self.
[10:52] Speaker 3: I think that whatever was going on with my friends
[10:55] Speaker 3: at that time, there was so much, what are you wearing?
[10:57] Speaker 3: What are you wearing? What are you wearing? What are
[10:58] Speaker 3: you wearing? I definitely was not trying to find myself
[11:01] Speaker 3: in like, this is who Jennifer is. I was trying
[11:03] Speaker 3: to look the part, right. And make the, the houses
[11:07] Speaker 3: want me. and fit in.
[11:09] Speaker 1: And you do, you tend to wear what your friends
[11:11] Speaker 1: are going to wear. You send outfits in your group chats.
[11:15] Speaker 1: You kind of base it off of all that. But
[11:17] Speaker 1: I mean, open house round, that was definitely where I
[11:20] Speaker 1: received the t-shirt. And that is the most casual round.
[11:24] Speaker 1: You are literally speed dating where you are going into
[11:27] Speaker 1: each one of these houses for like maybe five to
[11:29] Speaker 1: 10 minutes. So the like wearing a t-shirt and jeans
[11:33] Speaker 1: and maybe some sneakers or a cute flat because now
[11:36] Speaker 1: like the ballet flats are coming back. But I feel
[11:40] Speaker 1: like that is I think I wore a t-shirt, jeans
[11:43] Speaker 1: and sneakers. And then as the rounds go on, you
[11:45] Speaker 1: get more and more dressed up like second round. You
[11:49] Speaker 1: have sisterhood and then prep.
[11:51] Speaker 2: Well, I think with the casual outfits, like I love
[11:54] Speaker 2: a jeans look, you know, but you can make that
[11:58] Speaker 2: your own by adding jewelry, accessories, like all of that stuff.
[12:02] Speaker 2: So I feel like, yeah, with shoes. And I feel
[12:05] Speaker 2: like it is really important. Like, yes, everyone's trying to
[12:09] Speaker 2: kind of fit in. But what Jen was saying to
[12:12] Speaker 2: me is her advice was to not try to fit in,
[12:15] Speaker 2: to actually stand out, like not in a weird way, obviously,
[12:19] Speaker 2: but stand out and show your personality however you can.
[12:23] Speaker 2: And if that means jewelry, like fun jewelry or a
[12:26] Speaker 2: statement piece or something personal, like your grandmother's pearl bracelet
[12:31] Speaker 2: or something, you know what I mean? Like something that
[12:33] Speaker 2: could maybe spark up a conversation.
[12:36] Speaker 1: Even the way that you do your hair. Totally. Yes.
[12:41] Speaker 1: Something that like gives a little take into your personality.
[12:44] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[13:00] Speaker 3: Let's talk about the money of it all. You guys,
[13:03] Speaker 3: that's gotten crazy. So Bama rush, right? So we have
[13:08] Speaker 3: different girls in these videos. There are, I'm seeing Hermes
[13:12] Speaker 3: sandals for $ 900. Uh, well, Aqua skirt from Bloomingdale's very reasonable.
[13:16] Speaker 3: Of course, $ 42 Van Cleef, $ 5, 100 Van Cleef, yellow gold bracelet, seven,
[13:23] Speaker 3: two Cartier bracelet, Cartier ring. I mean, crazy G. I mean,
[13:26] Speaker 3: you're the closest to this. Is that what's going on?
[13:29] Speaker 3: And I mean, that's Bama, but... That is Bama.
[13:31] Speaker 1: But I think also a lot of these girls, if
[13:34] Speaker 1: a lot of these girls do have nice jewelry on
[13:36] Speaker 1: their wrist, it's obviously probably most likely coming from their parents'
[13:39] Speaker 1: bank account. Right. So it's not coming from them. And
[13:42] Speaker 1: I think it's just like Christmas gifts. And you really
[13:46] Speaker 1: can't knock these kids for getting nice Christmas gifts from
[13:49] Speaker 1: their parents. Yeah. But when you're looking at like the
[13:53] Speaker 1: outfits of it all, I don't think the outfits are that...
[13:58] Speaker 1: that outrageous. Yes, they're wearing very expensive, maybe accessories and
[14:02] Speaker 1: jewelry on their wrists or their handbags. But that very
[14:05] Speaker 1: well could also be passed down like from their parents.
[14:08] Speaker 2: Totally.
[14:08] Speaker 1: But an aqua skirt from Bloomingdale's address from Bloomingdale's, even
[14:13] Speaker 1: if you go on Amazon, there's so many good finds.
[14:17] Speaker 1: And Amazon also has a little bit more like some
[14:20] Speaker 1: outfit choices that are also on the more expensive side,
[14:24] Speaker 1: like some dresses that are, you know, two, yes. And that,
[14:28] Speaker 1: and that are $ 200, but then they also have some
[14:30] Speaker 1: dresses that range to like the 40 to $ 90 range.
[14:34] Speaker 1: So I think it's all about where you're looking, but
[14:37] Speaker 1: you know, you could even go to Bloomingdale's. Aqua is
[14:39] Speaker 1: one of the brands that I've seen in Bloomingdale's for
[14:43] Speaker 1: years now. And you're shopping at Bloomingdale's, but you're getting
[14:46] Speaker 1: a skirt for $ 40. So I think it all ranges.
[14:49] Speaker 1: And I think a lot of these children, like a
[14:52] Speaker 1: lot of these kids going into school also get a
[14:54] Speaker 1: lot of their, a lot of their access from their parents.
[14:57] Speaker 3: Look at Miss Gia calling sorority girls children. How old
[15:00] Speaker 3: are you now, lady? What are you, 20?
[15:02] Speaker 4: Crazy kids.
[15:04] Speaker 3: Crazy kids. The children. Look at Gia Chudai, she's all
[15:09] Speaker 3: grown up.
[15:10] Speaker 2: I mean, and what, what about, dupes. Like if you
[15:15] Speaker 2: really feel like you need a Van Cleef, whatever, there
[15:20] Speaker 2: are so many dupes out there.
[15:21] Speaker 3: Yes, there are. Yep.
[15:22] Speaker 1: Amazon is selling literally a bracelet stack of like what
[15:26] Speaker 1: girls wear, which like is Van Cleef, Cartier, like whatever
[15:29] Speaker 1: it is, they will sell a stack of them and
[15:32] Speaker 1: you can literally buy it and put it on your wrist.
[15:35] Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I think it's all about how you
[15:36] Speaker 1: present yourself and accessorize the, you know, your jewelry mixed
[15:40] Speaker 1: in with something a handbag or whatever. It's all about
[15:43] Speaker 1: how you do it because nine times out of 10,
[15:46] Speaker 1: no one's going to know.
[15:47] Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you think that like, for me at my age,
[15:50] Speaker 3: I'm over labels. I'm saying that I'm not putting a
[15:52] Speaker 3: big umbrella. I'm not saying I'm not going to ever labels,
[15:55] Speaker 3: but I'm really trying and enjoy more wearing things that
[15:58] Speaker 3: don't have labels now. But I think there's, is that,
[16:01] Speaker 3: is there any kind of a trend towards that? I'm
[16:03] Speaker 3: asking Gia, just at your age, sort of less labels, more, no,
[16:08] Speaker 3: you're looking at me like, nope.
[16:10] Speaker 1: No, no, I don't think that. No, like, I mean,
[16:13] Speaker 1: I'm just guilty because I do love, you know, not
[16:16] Speaker 1: even wearing not even wearing labeled like clothing. I honestly
[16:20] Speaker 1: don't really love the way labeled clothing looks. It's whether
[16:25] Speaker 1: I go into a store and I really like a
[16:26] Speaker 1: handbag or a piece of jewelry, but I don't really
[16:31] Speaker 1: love the monochrome like clothing. look of clothing. And that's
[16:35] Speaker 1: why I really never want to buy designer clothing. But
[16:40] Speaker 1: I think also when you're in college, it's not as
[16:43] Speaker 1: intense like maybe now. But my personal preference, it's like
[16:48] Speaker 1: if I'm going out and I'm going to like frat
[16:51] Speaker 1: parties or bar college bars, I'm definitely not like loading
[16:56] Speaker 1: up my wrist with You know, like I'm just not
[16:59] Speaker 1: doing that. And I, you know, I'm also not bringing
[17:02] Speaker 1: my Chanel purse to the bar, like a college bar.
[17:05] Speaker 1: So I think there's, you know, I think there's a range.
[17:09] Speaker 1: Like when you're in, when I was in college, I
[17:11] Speaker 1: would get my going out bags off of Amazon and you,
[17:15] Speaker 1: or if you don't like, you know, or she in it,
[17:17] Speaker 1: but there's also great brands now on Amazon called like
[17:21] Speaker 1: the JW pay, such a great bag brand where like,
[17:26] Speaker 1: they have such cute bags. And I don't know, I
[17:29] Speaker 1: don't think it's worth it, especially when you're in college. And,
[17:32] Speaker 1: you know, I don't think it's a top priority. I
[17:35] Speaker 1: think there's a lot of other ways that you can
[17:37] Speaker 1: accessorize yourself. There's also so many other jewelry brands now,
[17:41] Speaker 1: where you can find really, really cute jewelry that doesn't tarnish.
[17:45] Speaker 1: And it's, you know, just a better option.
[17:50] Speaker 3: Rush appropriate.
[17:51] Speaker 5: Yeah, I think about the girls that like, maybe they're
[17:55] Speaker 5: first generation going to college or they just don't, like
[17:58] Speaker 5: I grew up very, very middle-class and being in sorority,
[18:01] Speaker 5: I like, I had to pay for it myself. My
[18:02] Speaker 5: parents said, you know, we'll send you to college, but
[18:04] Speaker 5: you're paying for all your extra stuff. And how hard
[18:07] Speaker 5: this would be for people like that were in that situation,
[18:10] Speaker 5: like how intimidating it would be to walk in the
[18:12] Speaker 5: sorority house with all these girls who have all so
[18:15] Speaker 5: much and they're walking in there like very plain dress,
[18:18] Speaker 5: or I just think it'd be so intimidating.
[18:20] Speaker 4: And I kind of put myself.
[18:22] Speaker 5: In their shoes a little bit. Like, what do you
[18:23] Speaker 5: think about that. And like, maybe it's really not fair. And,
[18:27] Speaker 5: you know, having maybe that t-shirt carry through for more
[18:31] Speaker 5: rounds would allow maybe a more diverse, economically, at least
[18:36] Speaker 5: diverse group of people in the house.
[18:38] Speaker 3: Yeah. I like that. I like that idea.
[18:40] Speaker 2: It just depends on the college. It depends on the
[18:43] Speaker 2: sorority because I feel like I've talked to, you know,
[18:46] Speaker 2: a lot of girls and whether they're worried about what
[18:50] Speaker 2: they're wearing or not. It depends on the college. It
[18:53] Speaker 2: depends on the sorority. And if you want to be
[18:56] Speaker 2: in a more academic sorority, there are definitely options at
[19:00] Speaker 2: different sorority, at different universities. So I feel like it
[19:02] Speaker 2: just depends on where you're going. We know that the
[19:07] Speaker 2: SEC schools are going to be the place where people
[19:11] Speaker 2: are trying to dress to impress, and they're going to
[19:14] Speaker 2: be wearing all of the you know, the preppy, the
[19:16] Speaker 2: love shack fancy, all of that stuff, you know, going
[19:19] Speaker 2: into it that that's the deal.
[19:20] Speaker 4: Right.
[19:21] Speaker 2: So I feel like if, if being a part of
[19:24] Speaker 2: a sorority is something that you want to do in college,
[19:28] Speaker 2: then definitely do your research in terms of like the
[19:32] Speaker 2: sorority life at different colleges and then make your decision
[19:36] Speaker 2: from there. You know, I don't think it all, every
[19:39] Speaker 2: single sorority across the United States is, is like as
[19:44] Speaker 2: gung-ho as Bama or Ole Miss or whatever, Oklahoma, you
[19:48] Speaker 2: know what I mean?
[19:49] Speaker 3: Or Okra. Arkansas or whatever.
[19:51] Speaker 2: So I feel like there's a fit for everybody.
[19:54] Speaker 3: You just have to do your research. Actually, Joan and
[20:11] Speaker 3: I just did a pod on dorm rooms and how
[20:16] Speaker 3: insane that has gotten and how much money is being
[20:20] Speaker 3: spent by interior designers and things are, pillows are being
[20:25] Speaker 3: custom made and people are coming in. with the wrecking
[20:28] Speaker 3: crews and.
[20:29] Speaker 5: With their designers, like literally interior designers are coming with
[20:32] Speaker 5: them to college.
[20:32] Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. But guys, I remember I would go on
[20:36] Speaker 1: this one website. I'll look it up right now. I
[20:38] Speaker 1: got my whole dorm room from there and it was
[20:41] Speaker 1: so easy. Yeah. That's what it was.
[20:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, but this is not that, what we were talking to.
[20:47] Speaker 1: Oh, I know. I know. And I mean, that's a
[20:49] Speaker 1: bit insane. I had the cutest dorm room. I got
[20:51] Speaker 1: the wallpaper. Everything was from Dormify. I did it myself
[20:56] Speaker 1: and it looked great. But yeah, I get it. And again,
[21:00] Speaker 1: but that is not like, not everybody has to be
[21:03] Speaker 1: like that. If you want to do that and you
[21:06] Speaker 1: choose to do that and you have the means to
[21:08] Speaker 1: do that, amazing. But you can also make your room,
[21:13] Speaker 1: your outfit, Or your, yeah, yeah. Like literally look just
[21:17] Speaker 1: as expensive as the person who got an interior designer
[21:20] Speaker 1: in their room. Like I bet you, you could do
[21:23] Speaker 1: the same exact thing by yourself. And I was even
[21:27] Speaker 1: just looking at some of these outfits like, yes. Okay.
[21:31] Speaker 1: And if you look at some of them like Bama Rush, okay.
[21:34] Speaker 1: Then you go to Texas AMM and then, you know, TCU.
[21:39] Speaker 1: all of these schools are predominantly down South because I
[21:42] Speaker 1: could tell you right now, like when Rutgers university, like
[21:46] Speaker 1: they didn't care about what designer you had on you.
[21:50] Speaker 1: But as you keep kind of going down, like even
[21:52] Speaker 1: to Texas at A & M and TCU, the outfits,
[21:56] Speaker 1: you know, look at the outfits because you can accessorize
[22:00] Speaker 1: with any type of jewelry that you want. But this
[22:02] Speaker 1: girl is wearing that brand that I was talking about,
[22:04] Speaker 1: JW pay dress, $ 139. I mean, you know, Steve Madden
[22:10] Speaker 1: heels for $ 80. Steve Madden literally does dupes of absolutely
[22:14] Speaker 1: everything now. Like there are, and JW Pay, they are
[22:18] Speaker 1: on Amazon and they're also, I think on Revolve. And
[22:22] Speaker 1: then speaking of Revolve, Revolve now has a sorority rush section.
[22:26] Speaker 1: And yes, people look at Revolve and are like, wow,
[22:30] Speaker 1: Revolve is so expensive. But there's also very affordable brands
[22:34] Speaker 1: on Revolve as well. So now that they do have
[22:36] Speaker 1: a sorority rush section, you can kind of just like
[22:40] Speaker 1: sort through it, see what works best for you. But
[22:43] Speaker 1: like a brand that I know is so common that
[22:46] Speaker 1: I always look at on Revolve is Superdown, where they
[22:49] Speaker 1: have really, really reasonable prices. Like No, not overall. Some
[22:54] Speaker 1: things are over $ 100, but very reasonable. And now they
[22:58] Speaker 1: literally have a rush section. I'm sure they have outfits
[23:01] Speaker 1: that are very expensive off of Revolve, but then outfits
[23:05] Speaker 1: that are also really reasonable. Also, E. Newton Jewelry now
[23:10] Speaker 1: also has a recruitment-ready section for jewelry. I know another
[23:15] Speaker 1: great brand is also... EP jewels. She is, you know,
[23:20] Speaker 1: a young entrepreneur who created a jewelry company and she
[23:24] Speaker 1: has amazing jewelry as well. So like there are ways
[23:27] Speaker 1: that you can make these outfits and you will look amazing,
[23:30] Speaker 1: but you also don't need to be spending thousands.
[23:33] Speaker 3: Here's a little tip from your 58 year old friend,
[23:35] Speaker 3: Jen Fessler, who is so computer savvy and technology wise,
[23:41] Speaker 3: take the outfit. that you love, and you put it
[23:43] Speaker 3: into something called AI. And then you say, where can
[23:48] Speaker 3: I get this exact look for less? And you put
[23:51] Speaker 3: in a budget. I know I'm not teaching any 18-year-olds
[23:54] Speaker 3: out there what to do. But if it's my daughter
[23:58] Speaker 3: who's already graduated, I'm saying, get on your little friend,
[24:02] Speaker 3: chat GPT, and you find out where to get that
[24:05] Speaker 3: for $ 100.
