[0:01] Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush The Truth about Sorority Life with
[0:04] Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice.
[0:06] Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
[0:11] Speaker 3: Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush. Today,
[0:16] Speaker 3: we have some of our Dirty Rush producers on to
[0:19] Speaker 3: answer questions from a fraternity member currently in college himself.
[0:24] Speaker 3: We have collected all the questions that fraternity men are
[0:26] Speaker 3: dying to know about girls and sorority life, and we're
[0:29] Speaker 3: going to be unpacking it all today. Our fraternity host
[0:33] Speaker 3: is Dylan. Welcome Dylan.
[0:35] Speaker 4: Hi, Thank you.
[0:36] Speaker 3: Dylan. Do you want to tell everyone a little bit
[0:38] Speaker 3: about yourself?
[0:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, I am from California. I went to San die
[0:43] Speaker 4: Yo State my first year and I transwered to Santa Clara.
[0:46] Speaker 4: I'm going to be a senior next year and I
[0:47] Speaker 4: am in a fraternity at Santa Clara. What I love
[0:51] Speaker 4: about my fraternity is we're very focused around mental health
[0:54] Speaker 4: and we have a lot of good philanthropy around it. Yeah,
[0:58] Speaker 4: it's probably my favorite part about it.
[1:00] Speaker 3: Awesome. And then Dylan is going to ask us some
[1:04] Speaker 3: questions that all the fraternity men are dying to know.
[1:07] Speaker 3: We're going to go around and all of our producers
[1:10] Speaker 3: that are on today are going to say their name
[1:12] Speaker 3: and what swarty they were in, and let's do what
[1:15] Speaker 3: state our school was in as well. So my name
[1:18] Speaker 3: is Shelby and I was a Zeta and I went
[1:20] Speaker 3: to school in Texas.
[1:22] Speaker 5: My name's Kendall. I was a gammified Beta and I
[1:25] Speaker 5: went to University of Arizona.
[1:27] Speaker 1: My name's Ebbie and I was a Theta and I
[1:30] Speaker 1: went to a school in LA.
[1:32] Speaker 6: My name's Reese, and I was in California.
[1:38] Speaker 7: My dad's Fantastasia, and I'm a kappa at UC Berkeley.
[1:42] Speaker 8: My name is Sabina and I was a d G
[1:45] Speaker 8: also at UC Berkeley.
[1:46] Speaker 2: We are we all at different houses?
[1:48] Speaker 1: Woo, yeah, got some representation.
[1:52] Speaker 5: Okay, I have a question before we get into Dylan
[1:55] Speaker 5: asking questions. Can all of us say, Dylan, your favorite
[1:59] Speaker 5: so at your school and for us girls, our favorite
[2:03] Speaker 5: fraternity at our schools O.
[2:06] Speaker 1: Mine was stay Makay, mine was SIGAP.
[2:09] Speaker 7: I think ours is either ZA or SA.
[2:12] Speaker 8: I'd have to disagree, not like SA.
[2:16] Speaker 7: I'd probably say kay, okay, yeah that makes sense.
[2:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, mine was sick up.
[2:20] Speaker 2: Woo.
[2:21] Speaker 4: Mine is probably ALP with FI classic.
[2:25] Speaker 5: All right, Dylan, what do you have for us what questions.
[2:27] Speaker 4: Okay, starting off, do sorority girls actually like doing the
[2:32] Speaker 4: chance at the door during recruitment or do they think
[2:34] Speaker 4: it's annoying.
[2:37] Speaker 3: I would say, we don't do the full door chance.
[2:40] Speaker 3: Ours was like once you walk in, so I never
[2:43] Speaker 3: got to do like the ones. I know, like at
[2:44] Speaker 3: other schools they like stack up and do chance like
[2:47] Speaker 3: right at the door. We never did that. I liked it.
[2:50] Speaker 3: I was like in charge of like the choreography and
[2:53] Speaker 3: like teaching everyone for a couple of years, which is
[2:56] Speaker 3: like very fitting for me if you knew me. But
[3:00] Speaker 3: so I would say I liked it, but most people
[3:01] Speaker 3: hated it. So I would say the answer is no,
[3:04] Speaker 3: even though I liked.
[3:05] Speaker 6: It, I kind of agree with Shelby I had. I
[3:09] Speaker 6: thought it was funny because we only did one and
[3:11] Speaker 6: we would like run to the front door, and I
[3:14] Speaker 6: was put in the front because I have like really
[3:16] Speaker 6: long hair and you had to like whip our necks
[3:18] Speaker 6: back and forth, and so I got like whiplash kind of.
[3:21] Speaker 6: But I thought we only did it like one time
[3:23] Speaker 6: at the end as sort of like a joke to
[3:27] Speaker 6: ease tensions or whatever. So I kind of thought it was.
[3:29] Speaker 5: Funny Dylan as a guy, Like when you see videos
[3:32] Speaker 5: on TikTok or Instagram, what are your thoughts when you
[3:35] Speaker 5: see girls chanting at the door.
[3:38] Speaker 4: I think they're cool. I think they're funny, like some
[3:39] Speaker 4: of the ones I would always look for, like my friends,
[3:42] Speaker 4: like at my school for the if like my school
[3:45] Speaker 4: sorties came up on the for you page, but don't
[3:48] Speaker 4: find it weird, I mean, for turnings have weird stuff
[3:52] Speaker 4: too that you guys probably wouldn't understand. So I guess
[3:54] Speaker 4: it goes both ways.
[3:55] Speaker 2: Well, now you have to tell us one.
[4:00] Speaker 4: Hm, we can get into that later.
[4:02] Speaker 9: I don't know.
[4:04] Speaker 3: Okay, Well we'll get into it, okay.
[4:07] Speaker 4: Another question, how do surdy girls decide who do you
[4:10] Speaker 4: want to bring to formals? Other like certain aspects of
[4:13] Speaker 4: a guy or what they look like that you guys
[4:16] Speaker 4: look for.
[4:17] Speaker 7: I think when it comes to like who you're bringing,
[4:19] Speaker 7: I think, at least for my group, if all of
[4:22] Speaker 7: my friends are bringing guys, and it's kind of like
[4:25] Speaker 7: a group thing of like, oh, I'm bringing a date,
[4:27] Speaker 7: like it makes you feel better to bring one, I
[4:30] Speaker 7: would say, unless you're like actually like feel steady and
[4:35] Speaker 7: like like you guys have been talking for a while
[4:38] Speaker 7: and like it's maybe an exclusive thing or like you
[4:41] Speaker 7: guys have like our dating Like then it's like, yes,
[4:44] Speaker 7: I'll bring a guy. But if like you're the only
[4:47] Speaker 7: girl in your group bringing a guy, that's just that's
[4:50] Speaker 7: not fun for anyone. And so if it's like collectively
[4:53] Speaker 7: like hey, like let's all bring dates, then it's like, Okay,
[4:56] Speaker 7: I'll find a date. And they maybe you can ask
[4:58] Speaker 7: in like a friendly way, or you can ask in
[5:01] Speaker 7: like hey, like me and all my friends are bringing dates,
[5:03] Speaker 7: like come it'll be fun because then like you get it,
[5:05] Speaker 7: come along. But like it's so awkward when you guys
[5:08] Speaker 7: are all on that party bus and like you're the
[5:11] Speaker 7: only guy and like you're kind of an outsider, and
[5:13] Speaker 7: it's just like all these girls like torking on the
[5:15] Speaker 7: stripper poles and like you guys are going to the
[5:17] Speaker 7: venue and everything. It's like you're trying to entertain your date.
[5:19] Speaker 7: But then at the same time, like you want to
[5:21] Speaker 7: be with your friends. So like collectively, like if a
[5:24] Speaker 7: lot of guys are coming, then bring a guy.
[5:26] Speaker 8: My sorty love to do my ties. I don't know
[5:30] Speaker 8: if that's a thing at everyone's school, but it would
[5:32] Speaker 8: be like your friends would pair you up with this
[5:35] Speaker 8: like a basically blind date. So it usually happens like
[5:38] Speaker 8: we had two invites or date parties a semester, and
[5:41] Speaker 8: for one of them, it seemed like different friend groups
[5:44] Speaker 8: would always do my ties. And if that were the case,
[5:48] Speaker 8: then people would usually try and find like a group
[5:50] Speaker 8: of guys to go with a group of girls and
[5:52] Speaker 8: kind of just like pair everyone up or yeah, I
[5:56] Speaker 8: would agree, like a lot of the times it kind
[5:58] Speaker 8: of was just a little bit awkward if you were
[6:00] Speaker 8: going with like your group of girls and there was
[6:01] Speaker 8: like one guy, especially if you guys weren't like talking
[6:04] Speaker 8: or like seeing each other, and it was kind of
[6:05] Speaker 8: just like a random pairing. So it's usually planned, like
[6:09] Speaker 8: everybody would bring a date, or like kind of nobody
[6:12] Speaker 8: would bring a date.
[6:13] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[6:14] Speaker 1: Also, Dylan asked, like, what do you look for in
[6:17] Speaker 1: a guy when you're deciding, Like, I think one thing
[6:22] Speaker 1: that goes unnoticed is a lot of times, or at
[6:25] Speaker 1: least in my storty, there would be just a few
[6:28] Speaker 1: date parties in a row where like someone's date would
[6:32] Speaker 1: get too unhinged and maybe throw up on the party
[6:34] Speaker 1: bus or like say something out of pocket. And I
[6:38] Speaker 1: feel like girls started to go with like safer calls
[6:41] Speaker 1: when it came to guys like who were more well
[6:44] Speaker 1: behaved and who just weren't going to just be like
[6:48] Speaker 1: a wild card.
[6:50] Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys had that, No, I
[6:51] Speaker 2: had that.
[6:52] Speaker 5: I had a date freshman year gets so drunk that
[6:54] Speaker 5: he headbutted another guy at my Oh, Dylan, Why do
[6:59] Speaker 5: guys feel they need to get drunk? Is it that
[7:01] Speaker 5: boring or something when they come on these sorority parties.
[7:05] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[7:06] Speaker 2: I like, do you have fun on them? Or are
[7:09] Speaker 2: they boring?
[7:09] Speaker 4: I love them, They're great. I think it's a different
[7:12] Speaker 4: kind of It's a different like social thing because usually
[7:16] Speaker 4: guys are used to being like at a fratorney where
[7:18] Speaker 4: it's only like their guys friends. I think it's fun
[7:20] Speaker 4: sometimes to hang out like other dudes that you don't
[7:24] Speaker 4: get to talk to as much because girls are bringing
[7:26] Speaker 4: like guys from random for frattorneys And do you.
[7:28] Speaker 2: Guys you have weekenders?
[7:30] Speaker 8: Uh?
[7:31] Speaker 4: Like we call it like a way formal. It's like
[7:33] Speaker 4: once a year or twice a year.
[7:36] Speaker 6: I have a theory about sometimes why they get too drunk.
[7:40] Speaker 6: I brought a date that he kind of like invited himself.
[7:43] Speaker 6: My friend was bringing his friend, and then the friend
[7:46] Speaker 6: was like, can you bring my friend? And I was
[7:48] Speaker 6: like sure, and he said he got too excited, so.
[7:52] Speaker 2: I'm like nervous.
[7:53] Speaker 6: So he was pregaming like way too much so that
[7:56] Speaker 6: he could like build up the courage to like be there,
[7:59] Speaker 6: and then he just got carried away and it wasn't
[8:02] Speaker 6: for anyone.
[8:04] Speaker 3: Dylan, I have a question for you. Do you have
[8:06] Speaker 3: like more fun at a formal like that you got
[8:08] Speaker 3: invited to by a girl if like you have a
[8:10] Speaker 3: guy friend there, because I feel like a lot of
[8:12] Speaker 3: the times, like my friends try to bring like guys
[8:14] Speaker 3: that know each other because then they like are less
[8:16] Speaker 3: like they seem like they're having more fun when they
[8:18] Speaker 3: have like a buddy there instead of just like by themselves.
[8:20] Speaker 4: Like yeah, one hundred, I think girls sometimes like to
[8:24] Speaker 4: be like whispering in the corner or like doing like
[8:26] Speaker 4: the and like we're just gonna be like sitting there
[8:29] Speaker 4: awkwardly if we don't know each other. So yeah, definitely,
[8:33] Speaker 4: like bringing a guy that already knows someone theres is
[8:36] Speaker 4: definitely a good play.
[8:37] Speaker 2: We don't have fun asking you questions? Is it true?
[8:40] Speaker 5: That guys hate when girls like go to the bathroom
[8:43] Speaker 5: together in like a group, like they find that annoying.
[8:46] Speaker 4: No, I mean, we don't really care. I think it's
[8:48] Speaker 4: more like like I was out to dinner with some
[8:51] Speaker 4: girls two weeks ago and they were just whispering the
[8:54] Speaker 4: whole time because they were super drunk. Like at the
[8:56] Speaker 4: end of the table, We're like, guys, come on, you
[8:58] Speaker 4: gotta like like I save it for after or something,
[9:02] Speaker 4: you know, or or go to the bathroom so you
[9:05] Speaker 4: don't look like you're just like talking about everyone else.
[9:08] Speaker 2: You're probably talking about you.
[9:26] Speaker 4: If you're meeting a guy for the first time out
[9:27] Speaker 4: of attorney, what makes him more memorable is if he's
[9:30] Speaker 4: like funny, nice, good looking. What do you guys look for?
[9:35] Speaker 4: Or like what what leaves you remembering him?
[9:38] Speaker 3: I feel like this is so woring what kind of
[9:40] Speaker 3: manners Like I don't know if you like it's like
[9:42] Speaker 3: what Kenda was saying, like if you bring a guy
[9:44] Speaker 3: to a formal like you or maybe Ebby was just
[9:46] Speaker 3: saying it, but you want to like have them be
[9:47] Speaker 3: like behaved and like I don't know when they're like
[9:50] Speaker 3: going around, like if they're like a new date and
[9:52] Speaker 3: they're introducing themselves to your friends and you're swarty big
[9:54] Speaker 3: like and like you leave and then the next day
[9:56] Speaker 3: everyone's like, oh my god, your date was so awesome,
[9:58] Speaker 3: like blah blah blah blah, He's so nice, she was
[10:00] Speaker 3: so fun Like that just like feels good because like
[10:02] Speaker 3: especially like now everyone knew him then, like that's just
[10:05] Speaker 3: a better feeling. So like for me, it'd probably be
[10:09] Speaker 3: like yeah, manners and like funniness, like when they're having
[10:12] Speaker 3: a good time because like I feel like, looks you
[10:15] Speaker 3: already knew it beforehand.
[10:16] Speaker 6: So and like having your friends well when other people
[10:20] Speaker 6: have good things to say about them kind of like
[10:22] Speaker 6: all of that. If you're talking to other people and
[10:24] Speaker 6: you're like what do you think about this guy? And
[10:25] Speaker 6: it's all great reviews and that's definitely something good. But
[10:29] Speaker 6: if it's sort of like oh, why are you asking,
[10:32] Speaker 6: and then they'll have to like say or like save
[10:35] Speaker 6: what their actual opinion is, then you know like probably
[10:38] Speaker 6: shouldn't go any further.
[10:40] Speaker 1: Also, a lot of times there's alcohol involved in these events,
[10:43] Speaker 1: so you might not have the best memory, so you
[10:45] Speaker 1: need like the good pr all around. Yes, like you're like, oh,
[10:49] Speaker 1: how was he actually like, oh he was really nice.
[10:52] Speaker 1: You remember, like, oh, oh good, I'm glad.
[10:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I thought it was nice too.
[10:58] Speaker 5: I have a question for all of us to shake
[11:00] Speaker 5: things up before Dylan's next question. Everyone answer like an
[11:04] Speaker 5: ick they have from like you know, talking to a
[11:08] Speaker 5: fraternity guy or sporty girl at school. Like for me,
[11:11] Speaker 5: mine would be like, I know guys can't help it,
[11:14] Speaker 5: but sometimes out of fraternity when they're like so sweaty,
[11:19] Speaker 5: and that gives me the eck, Especially when they try
[11:21] Speaker 5: to like hey, like hug you and stuff, I'm like,
[11:23] Speaker 5: oh God, like I'm that sweaty courtyard Like that gives.
[11:25] Speaker 2: Me the eck. What about you?
[11:27] Speaker 9: Guys?
[11:28] Speaker 7: Mine might be super random, but I absolutely hate guys
[11:31] Speaker 7: that have like an obscene like zen addiction. Like for me,
[11:36] Speaker 7: just like when they always have it up and I
[11:39] Speaker 7: just know that they're either like spitting into a cup
[11:42] Speaker 7: or like it's just so gross to me and like
[11:45] Speaker 7: ninety nine percent of the time, like you can only
[11:47] Speaker 7: have it in for like forty five minutes before they
[11:48] Speaker 7: have to switch it out and put a new one.
[11:50] Speaker 7: It's like, dude, like just drink or like I don't know,
[11:53] Speaker 7: like zen addictions to me are just like, oh, that's
[11:56] Speaker 7: so like cool within guys and it's just the worst.
[12:00] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[12:01] Speaker 9: Also kind of like going off that if they're like
[12:03] Speaker 9: spitting at a party, because they people like spit when
[12:06] Speaker 9: they're sitting and it's just like you'll be talking to
[12:08] Speaker 9: them and then they'll just randomly spit and you're like,
[12:09] Speaker 9: oh wait, like what you ew?
[12:13] Speaker 3: Gross? I would say this is so bad. But like
[12:17] Speaker 3: if I bring a guy to my formal, like I
[12:19] Speaker 3: want him to buy me a drink, like and like
[12:21] Speaker 3: sometimes they're like oh like whatever, Like if I'm taking
[12:25] Speaker 3: you to my formal, like I feel like you need
[12:26] Speaker 3: to buy me a drink. So I guess when they
[12:29] Speaker 3: don't do that.
[12:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, I would also say like if you're just if
[12:34] Speaker 1: you're a guy and you're hanging out too much with
[12:36] Speaker 1: your friends, like you're just there to be with the voice,
[12:40] Speaker 1: like why are you even there? If a girl brought
[12:43] Speaker 1: you to their formal, they probably they like you and
[12:44] Speaker 1: they want to spend time with you. So yeah, I
[12:50] Speaker 1: would just think like there's sometimes when guys would act
[12:52] Speaker 1: like especially freshen Ye would act like way too cool
[12:55] Speaker 1: for school, and it's like okay, if somebody brought you
[12:58] Speaker 1: spend time with them, diama, drink like, dance with them
[13:02] Speaker 1: a little. It's not that hard.
[13:05] Speaker 6: Mine's like the same as pals, like if they have
[13:08] Speaker 6: bad body odor. Like sometimes I'll have like a guy's
[13:11] Speaker 6: side hug me and then it'll linger on my warm
[13:15] Speaker 6: and then I'm just like like having to lean away
[13:18] Speaker 6: from myself or figure out. It's just figure it out, please,
[13:22] Speaker 6: Like I don't want your bodyoder like lingering on me
[13:26] Speaker 6: the most.
[13:29] Speaker 8: Mine's not specific to like a formal but I feel
[13:31] Speaker 8: like I've had a couple of situations where I've like
[13:33] Speaker 8: watched the way guys interact with Like for example, this
[13:36] Speaker 8: was on like a game day and this guy was
[13:38] Speaker 8: the door at his frat, and I like watched the
[13:40] Speaker 8: way he interacted with like strangers or people trying to
[13:43] Speaker 8: come into the frat, and he just gave like a
[13:44] Speaker 8: really like negative kind of like cocky douchebag energy and
[13:48] Speaker 8: like was just rude to people who were trying to
[13:50] Speaker 8: come in for like a game day. And I feel
[13:52] Speaker 8: like the way that these frat guys carry themselves in
[13:55] Speaker 8: situations with people that aren't their brothers is like a
[13:58] Speaker 8: huge indicator of like the type of guy that they
[13:59] Speaker 8: all and if you can tell that they like don't
[14:02] Speaker 8: care about anybody other than like the people within their
[14:05] Speaker 8: frat or like the swordy girls that are like pretty
[14:08] Speaker 8: or whatever. Like, it just really rubs me the wrong way.
[14:10] Speaker 2: It's a good one, Dylan. Besides the whispering, what dick
[14:13] Speaker 2: do you have?
[14:14] Speaker 4: I guess just the girl that kind of knows every
[14:16] Speaker 4: guy at the frag It kind of is like the
[14:17] Speaker 4: social like a little too social. I don't know. It
[14:20] Speaker 4: just rubs me the wrong way.
[14:21] Speaker 2: I feel like, especially if you like her.
[14:25] Speaker 4: Uh well, well that makes it way worse. Yeah, I'd
[14:29] Speaker 4: probably try to stay away.
[14:31] Speaker 2: Yeah I get that, all right, Let's go to the
[14:33] Speaker 2: next one.
[14:34] Speaker 4: Oh again, what makes the shack shirt cool? Like, do
[14:41] Speaker 4: girls when they go over to guy's place want to
[14:43] Speaker 4: get one to like show like go back to their
[14:47] Speaker 4: friend's house and like be asked about it or like
[14:50] Speaker 4: why is it cool?
[14:51] Speaker 5: I wouldn't necessarily say like summer cool over the other,
[14:54] Speaker 5: but obviously people in school would be like, yeah, I
[14:57] Speaker 5: got this shackture, I got that secture. You didn't get that,
[15:00] Speaker 5: Like people were really immature like that. But as a girl,
[15:04] Speaker 5: it was like I personally loved a shack shirt because
[15:08] Speaker 5: you don't want to go home the next day in
[15:10] Speaker 5: your body suit, like you want to at least have
[15:13] Speaker 5: a shirt.
[15:13] Speaker 2: On, don't you guys all agree?
[15:15] Speaker 5: Yeah, over you're going out outfit because then it's a
[15:17] Speaker 5: little less like.
[15:19] Speaker 3: Hunter bonus points for like a cool sweatshirt bonus points.
[15:28] Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think it also a little bit like
[15:30] Speaker 1: collecting different t shirts that are like oversized and like
[15:35] Speaker 1: too big for you just shows oh, like you get
[15:37] Speaker 1: questions about it going back to the swarthy house like
[15:40] Speaker 1: where were you last night? Like where'd you get that?
[15:42] Speaker 1: Then you can kind of have to You can either
[15:44] Speaker 1: play it cool and be like, oh, you don't get
[15:47] Speaker 1: to know.
[15:48] Speaker 5: Well, do guys keep tabs if they don't get their
[15:50] Speaker 5: stuff back, like if they think girls will return it.
[15:54] Speaker 4: Guys definitely keep tabs, But it's sometimes it's not important
[15:57] Speaker 4: enough to like text them if they don't talk to
[15:59] Speaker 4: them anymore.
[16:00] Speaker 5: I feel like that'd be weird if a guy's like, hey,
[16:01] Speaker 5: I need my like Sigma Kuye volleyball shirt.
[16:04] Speaker 2: Back, can you come over?
[16:06] Speaker 9: Yeah?
[16:06] Speaker 4: No, they definitely do keep tubs. How are fraterneys ranked?
[16:25] Speaker 4: How do you guys create the rankings. Do you talk
[16:27] Speaker 4: about it?
[16:29] Speaker 3: I feel like at my school it was like every
[16:31] Speaker 3: soorty had a different ranking, and like even every person
[16:34] Speaker 3: in Authorty like my sworty, Like every like PC had
[16:37] Speaker 3: a different top frat, which was interesting. I feel like
[16:39] Speaker 3: at some other schools I hear there's like kind of
[16:41] Speaker 3: like sister fraternities and sworties or maybe there's another word
[16:45] Speaker 3: for it. But at my school was like my PC
[16:50] Speaker 3: like loved certain fraternities and like the one below us
[16:53] Speaker 3: like because their guy PC was like better in the
[16:56] Speaker 3: year below, like different ones. I feel like it's in
[16:58] Speaker 3: terms of like party are big, like if they have
[17:02] Speaker 3: the best parties. I mean when you're like looking for
[17:05] Speaker 3: like where to go, there's usually a lot of options,
[17:07] Speaker 3: so like your favorite fraternity, it's like where you're going
[17:10] Speaker 3: to go to the party or the tailgate, And then
[17:13] Speaker 3: I feel like just like yeah, I mean the guys
[17:14] Speaker 3: like being like fun and like cool people, and like
[17:17] Speaker 3: for me, like a lot of the guys in the
[17:19] Speaker 3: fraternity I went the most were like from my area,
[17:21] Speaker 3: so I like knew a lot of them and then
[17:22] Speaker 3: got to know their friends, so it was like very
[17:24] Speaker 3: comfortable for me and like I just got very close
[17:26] Speaker 3: with them all, so I feel like that would be
[17:28] Speaker 3: for me.
[17:30] Speaker 2: I also feel like the reputations are already like there
[17:32] Speaker 2: when you go into school, so it's like it's hard,
[17:35] Speaker 2: don't you guys feel that way, Like you don't even
[17:36] Speaker 2: make it up yourself.
[17:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say like the top tier and the
[17:41] Speaker 1: mid tier. I mean, it's like feel so annoying to
[17:44] Speaker 1: even talk about tiers right now, but like I feel
[17:48] Speaker 1: like those are established, but you can certainly move between
[17:52] Speaker 1: depending on like what's the new PC and who's driving
[17:55] Speaker 1: with who. I remember my freshman year essaying you was
[17:58] Speaker 1: definitely like on top at the beginning because they threw
[18:02] Speaker 1: this huge party it called Splash and it was like
[18:04] Speaker 1: the first week of school and they'd run out this
[18:06] Speaker 1: place in Malibu and and bite all these girls and
[18:09] Speaker 1: like they were so up. But then Sigma Kai was
[18:14] Speaker 1: like on so pro or not even like they had
[18:16] Speaker 1: to be like the PC. It's like a tradition that
[18:18] Speaker 1: like for the first quarter, you're on sopro if you're
[18:20] Speaker 1: in Si Kai. And then they started throwing parties like
[18:26] Speaker 1: Winter Quarter that I remember that everyone was like, wait,
[18:28] Speaker 1: sig Kai's best, Like they're up and then like SIGEP
[18:31] Speaker 1: got in there, and so I think it just like
[18:34] Speaker 1: could definitely move around the ranks. Yeah, but you have
[18:39] Speaker 1: to like be fun and have good stuff to go to.
[18:42] Speaker 5: Right.
[18:43] Speaker 2: I hate the rankings so dumb. Yeah, it's really stupid.
[18:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, just like be friends with who you want to
[18:48] Speaker 1: be friends with, right, you could pick yourself.
[18:51] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[18:53] Speaker 4: I remember freshman year, my guys older would make us
[18:56] Speaker 4: paint for hours because like with these neon all this stuff,
[19:00] Speaker 4: because he was like, the girls are gonna want to
[19:03] Speaker 4: take photos. That's why they come here is to take
[19:05] Speaker 4: cool photos.
[19:05] Speaker 3: Oh that's cute, that's interesting.
[19:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, we were pledged painting.
[19:11] Speaker 4: Yes, we all had to paint for for hours. Yeah.
[19:14] Speaker 2: And did girls end up taking photos? Was it worth it?
[19:16] Speaker 4: I think so? Yes they were we we we that
[19:19] Speaker 4: was like our thing was like big murals.
[19:23] Speaker 2: Wow.
[19:24] Speaker 3: Did you feel like you competed with other fraternities to
[19:26] Speaker 3: have like a better setup for the party.
[19:28] Speaker 4: Oh for sure.
[19:29] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[19:29] Speaker 3: Yeah that's so interesting.
[19:33] Speaker 6: I like water attraction. You like what but water attraction
[19:39] Speaker 6: like a slip inside.
[19:40] Speaker 3: Or yeah, darty's Oh so fun.
[19:43] Speaker 6: If one party has a water attraction and another one
[19:46] Speaker 6: does it, I'm not going I am dying or foam.
[19:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, we had a pham.
[19:54] Speaker 2: The foam is so gross.
[19:55] Speaker 8: Like we had one frat who threw a party with
[19:58] Speaker 8: packing peanuts and it became like a safety hazard because
[20:02] Speaker 8: it's like their number one party of the year is
[20:04] Speaker 8: called frost, and they layered their entire floor with packing
[20:08] Speaker 8: peanuts and it became so sticky that like no one
[20:11] Speaker 8: could walk around and everyone's shoes were ruined. And I'm
[20:13] Speaker 8: pretty sure for that party alone, they spent like I
[20:17] Speaker 8: think it was like over ten grand just on like
[20:19] Speaker 8: decorations and like painting. They got like an ice sculpture
[20:21] Speaker 8: and there's this whole thing. But even though that fraternity
[20:24] Speaker 8: wasn't like ranked very high, that party was like the
[20:27] Speaker 8: number one party of the year, like everyone talks about it.
[20:30] Speaker 1: Saina brings up like a really good point because the
[20:32] Speaker 1: budgets that I would hear about for these parties were
[20:35] Speaker 1: like insane. Like I live next to a frat that
[20:39] Speaker 1: would throw like a sailor's ball and they would literally
[20:43] Speaker 1: flood their basement and put like sand in the basement.
[20:46] Speaker 3: Of the frat. Yes, that's crazy.
[20:49] Speaker 1: Like the damage to these places there was like foam topia.
[20:52] Speaker 1: There were all these different parties for each frat, and
[20:54] Speaker 1: I think it's like, yeah, I.
[20:55] Speaker 8: Think the budget was more to do with how much
[20:57] Speaker 8: they'd get fined and setting aside a certain amount that
[21:00] Speaker 8: they'd be willing to pay a fine, rather than actually
[21:02] Speaker 8: buying anything. So it'd be like a twenty thousand dollars
[21:05] Speaker 8: budget that had nothing to do with what they purchased
[21:08] Speaker 8: or when.
[21:08] Speaker 2: They break like art it.
[21:10] Speaker 5: Did you guys have your fraternities like we always had,
[21:12] Speaker 5: like Gorgan City or like not Rufous, but you know,
[21:15] Speaker 5: like people come and perform at them.
[21:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, Dylan, did you have that ever your fraternity?
[21:20] Speaker 4: I had like one when I was at San Diego State. Yeah.
[21:23] Speaker 2: I don't know if everyone does that.
[21:24] Speaker 4: And the budgets, the budgets are crazy for those Where
[21:26] Speaker 4: does that come from? Is that like your dol alumni?
[21:29] Speaker 4: I mean a little bit of dude. Oh, it's the
[21:32] Speaker 4: definitely matters how long the fraternity's been around, because I'm
[21:34] Speaker 4: in a fratney now that's only been around for like
[21:37] Speaker 4: fifteen years, so we don't have all those older rich guys.
[21:40] Speaker 1: Oh wow, I think sig Kai has like the best alumni.
[21:43] Speaker 3: Oh interesting.
[21:44] Speaker 4: Nationally, it's pretty I think Essay is one of the
[21:47] Speaker 4: richest ones now.
[21:48] Speaker 1: Probably Essay too, honestly, and Dylan as a guy, how
[21:53] Speaker 1: do you get invited?
[21:54] Speaker 5: Because like sometimes like other fraternity guys are at another
[21:57] Speaker 5: one's fraternity party, Like is it just if you're cool
[22:00] Speaker 5: with someone?
[22:00] Speaker 2: Like how does that work? I've always wondered.
[22:02] Speaker 4: I guess, yeah, you just have to be friends with someone,
[22:05] Speaker 4: and like you can't be like a problematic guy, Like
[22:07] Speaker 4: if you're going over there and they invite you, you
[22:09] Speaker 4: can't act like it's your own place because you're not
[22:11] Speaker 4: paying too. You're not paying it for anything.
[22:13] Speaker 2: So right, that makes sense?
[22:16] Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, what are the biggest red flags sorority girls
[22:20] Speaker 4: seen fraternity guys? I guess if a fraternity guy's president
[22:23] Speaker 4: or high up on the exec board, is that attractive,
[22:26] Speaker 4: does that make him cooler? What do you guys think?
[22:29] Speaker 3: I think it could in a way of like they're
[22:32] Speaker 3: a little bit driven maybe, but like not like oh,
[22:35] Speaker 3: you're president, so you're cool, but like, oh, like you're
[22:38] Speaker 3: not just caring about partying and like this, like you
[22:41] Speaker 3: actually have a little bit of drive. I don't know.
[22:42] Speaker 3: I feel like I would be like, Okay, that's.
[22:45] Speaker 6: Nice if they had like a position in a school
[22:49] Speaker 6: club or something like that.
[22:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm like biased because I was sorority president,
[22:54] Speaker 1: So I'm like if it's a if you're in a sorority,
[22:57] Speaker 1: I feel like it's different.
[22:58] Speaker 2: But I do think it.
[22:59] Speaker 1: Means that you're really like well liked and well respected
[23:02] Speaker 1: within within your fraternity. I just would more be like,
[23:07] Speaker 1: why aren't you taking that? As someone who's done it.
[23:11] Speaker 1: It's so much time and dedication with like depending I
[23:14] Speaker 1: don't know what the payoffice for frats, I don't know.
[23:18] Speaker 1: I feel like it's really really well respected when you're
[23:22] Speaker 1: an underclassman because you're like, oh my gosh, he's the
[23:26] Speaker 1: president of SAE, Like right, body's so hot, or you're like,
[23:30] Speaker 1: who's the president of this sorority? But then when you're
[23:32] Speaker 1: actually that age or like oh wow, I can't believe
[23:35] Speaker 1: you actually did that.
[23:36] Speaker 3: About if they're the social chair, because I feel like
[23:40] Speaker 3: some of the guys at my school, the social chairs
[23:41] Speaker 3: thought they were like the shit and because like they
[23:44] Speaker 3: just said it on the parties and like who got
[23:46] Speaker 3: to go in? So like is that an eck to anyone?
[23:48] Speaker 3: Because like I think in high school they.
[23:50] Speaker 1: Were like really big energy, like I'm in charge of.
[23:53] Speaker 2: The risk yeah school, and.
[23:56] Speaker 3: They are selective about like who can go.
[23:58] Speaker 4: And they always sent out the text the horny yes,
[24:02] Speaker 4: the text.
[24:02] Speaker 1: Well, okay, if you're a social chair. Usually for us,
[24:05] Speaker 1: it was like if you were a sophomore, So that
[24:07] Speaker 1: meant that means like the juniors respected you enough to
[24:11] Speaker 1: like make or like the sophomores at the time respected
[24:14] Speaker 1: a freshman enough to make them the social chair when
[24:16] Speaker 1: they were sophomore. So I feel like it means you're well,
[24:20] Speaker 1: like but yeah, like is it kind of a dumb
[24:22] Speaker 1: gig and you're you really like, thank you're hot for like, yeah,
[24:27] Speaker 1: being the one that sends out the text and plans
[24:29] Speaker 1: how many pineapples are coming to Pineapple Tuesday?
[24:32] Speaker 3: Like what is that elaborate?
[24:35] Speaker 6: Please?
[24:35] Speaker 1: This is another specific party. But they would there was
[24:40] Speaker 1: one singap would do Pineapple Tuesday. We're like one Tuesday quarter.
[24:44] Speaker 1: They'd get all the pledges to core like hundreds of pineapples.
[24:50] Speaker 1: Like I think guys would be like, I've got so
[24:52] Speaker 1: many cuts from the pineapples and like, and it.
[24:54] Speaker 10: Would stay for the pineapple juice because they'd be like
[24:58] Speaker 10: poring them and then you carry one or on the
[25:00] Speaker 10: whole party, each girl, for each party person company to
[25:03] Speaker 10: the party, we'll be holding a pineapple full of whatever
[25:06] Speaker 10: drink you had.
[25:07] Speaker 2: My god, you guys, I miss fraternity party so much.
[25:11] Speaker 2: This stuff. It's so funny.
[25:12] Speaker 1: Afterwards you're like, oh my god, I gotta get ready
[25:16] Speaker 1: in my dorm for Pineapple Tuesday.
[25:17] Speaker 2: It's like, what am I gonna wear?
[25:19] Speaker 1: Who is a Hawaiian shirt? Do I wear a bikini
[25:21] Speaker 1: top or Hawaiian shirt to Pineapple Tuesday?
[25:24] Speaker 5: So you guys seriously have to live up go to
[25:26] Speaker 5: every fraternity party because the bars post college are Google.
[25:31] Speaker 2: Sorry, Reese, I know you just graduated.
[25:33] Speaker 6: But it's I don't even know what to say right now.
