[0:05] I am.
[0:06] I'm very excited to be back.
[0:08] Oh, my.
[0:09] Yeah.
[0:09] I mean, I know we've had summer school.
[0:12] We had the Christmas episode.
[0:14] We've had lots of things playing over summer, but this is like the first time the three of us are...
[0:19] Sat around the table.
[0:20] Yeah, this year.
[0:20] Yeah.
[0:21] And, oh, God, I missed you beautiful boys.
[0:25] Oh, how lovely.
[0:26] Yeah.
[0:27] You're both looking really, really good.
[0:28] Yeah, you too.
[0:29] Yeah.
[0:30] Yeah.
[0:31] Wonderful.
[0:32] Just sorry to stress me out a bit.
[0:33] What's happening?
[0:35] I love your excitement and it's good to be back for the official.
[0:37] No, this is a bit stressed because I do have an agenda this year.
[0:41] AI.
[0:42] Hugh's AI.
[0:43] You can tell.
[0:44] You can tell because his language is different.
[0:47] It's like a bit stunted and you can tell.
[0:49] See, Josh?
[0:50] It's not real.
[0:54] It's a new year.
[0:54] It's a new me.
[0:56] I sit before you with a journal and in that journal, I have actually planned today's introductory episode and so we need to stick to the agenda.
[1:03] So we've gone a little bit.
[1:04] We're a bit over time here.
[1:05] So if you don't mind, I might just open it up and we'll.
[1:07] Imperfects, episode one.
[1:09] Yep.
[1:09] Intro.
[1:10] Okay.
[1:10] First, number one.
[1:11] This is fun, isn't it?
[1:13] Okay.
[1:16] Number one, two minutes for hellos.
[1:20] Okay.
[1:20] Cool.
[1:21] Yeah.
[1:22] That's a lot of... Yeah.
[1:23] Yeah.
[1:23] Hello.
[1:24] So, hello, everybody.
[1:25] Welcome back.
[1:25] We've just...
[1:26] I hope you enjoyed summer school.
[1:28] I didn't start the stopwatch.
[1:29] Sorry.
[1:29] Hang on.
[1:29] Oh, he's just lost the page too.
[1:31] Start the stopwatch.
[1:32] Okay, good.
[1:32] We're on.
[1:33] Great.
[1:33] Okay.
[1:34] Two minutes now for hellos.
[1:36] Do you do how are you in hellos as well?
[1:38] Yep.
[1:38] That would be definitely... How are you, right?
[1:39] I'm good.
[1:40] I'm very excited to be back.
[1:41] Yeah.
[1:41] Oh, you've got one.
[1:42] I've just got an eye on the clock here.
[1:43] I don't want to go too long.
[1:44] I'll tell you.
[1:45] I'm very
[1:48] Will you engage in the conversation at all or are you just more like...
[1:52] I'll try.
[1:52] I'll try.
[1:53] I'll try.
[1:54] I'll try.
[1:55] Try your best, please.
[1:56] Do you guys have a good holiday?
[2:00] That seems like you're playing a character.
[2:02] Yeah.
[2:02] It's like you've come in with the character of podcaster.
[2:06] Organised podcaster.
[2:07] Organised podcaster.
[2:08] Okay, is this the new you for 2025?
[2:11] That's what I'm hoping for.
[2:13] It's my aim.
[2:13] Organised you.
[2:15] Yeah, it is my aim.
[2:16] Okay.
[2:16] Never been that person before.
[2:18] Well, he's fun.
[2:19] Yeah.
[2:21] Very fun.
[2:23] Very fun.
[2:24] Got about a minute to go of this.
[2:26] Yeah, I had a quick holiday.
[2:27] If you asked that before, I didn't answer it, but it was good.
[2:30] Thank you, Josh.
[2:31] And just, I don't know if this is part of the schedule, Hugh, but if we're scoring each other at the moment, you're very low at the moment, Hugh.
[2:38] You've got a low score.
[2:39] On what?
[2:39] You're not fun.
[2:40] I don't like the schedule.
[2:42] I prefer it when you – I think I prefer disorganised you at this point.
[2:45] Well, that's not good for me because this whole episode is very organised.
[2:49] Okay.
[2:49] Okay, that's enough of hellos.
[2:50] Well, I should say that the main item on the agenda that we will get to soon is announcement number two.
[2:56] This is announcement two in our three big announcements, which we've been – go, we've been hooking it like crazy on the Instas.
[3:03] Oh, boy.
[3:08] Network TV shit.
[3:11] That's never before seen stuff on social media.
[3:14] So, yeah, we hooked.
[3:18] Consider them sufficiently teased, Hugh.
[3:20] So we will be doing that today.
[3:21] That is the main part of today's episode.
[3:23] So announcement, we can't wait to get to that.
[3:25] Yeah.
[3:26] But there are other things we do need to do.
[3:27] Just I'm just going through my agenda here and I do want to.
[3:29] I can see that.
[3:31] This is me trying 2025.
[3:31] I'm trying to be organized.
[3:32] I'm trying to be more prepared.
[3:33] So let's just.
[3:34] Let's just go through my agenda if that's okay.
[3:37] What a party.
[3:39] Next, for five minutes, Nougatory chat.
[3:42] What's Nougatory?
[3:44] What is Nougatory?
[3:46] Like nougar based?
[3:47] No, no, no.
[3:47] Nougatory is like a word.
[3:50] It's like worthless or not of great value, but it's just sort of like.
[3:53] Five minutes?
[3:54] Yeah, no, it's a bit too much.
[3:58] What's been happening for you guys?
[4:01] Okay, so this is Nugatory?
[4:02] Yeah.
[4:03] Kind of like... Oh, nothing much, bro.
[4:07] Nothing of any worth.
[4:08] Yeah, nothing of any worth.
[4:09] It's pretty worthless.
[4:10] No, actually, I went to New Zealand.
[4:12] Oh, okay, that's good.
[4:13] Yeah.
[4:13] But is that too useful?
[4:15] That's quite... No, that's not bad.
[4:16] No, it's like... Yeah, okay.
[4:19] To be honest, it is quite Nugatory, but I'm happy for you.
[4:21] Yeah.
[4:21] Was New Zealand good?
[4:22] It was great.
[4:23] I loved it.
[4:24] I had a really, really good time.
[4:25] Yeah.
[4:26] So we were down at the beach and I was playing with the kids.
[4:30] There's an episode of Bluey where they spy on the builder.
[4:33] And the builder's actually Mick Malloy.
[4:35] And there were builders next door.
[4:37] We went, why don't we party the game?
[4:38] They get very excited.
[4:39] Mm-hmm.
[4:40] And so I said, let's hide in the long grass and then we'll creep up on them.
[4:44] And then if they see us, we'll go and run and hide in that bush.
[4:46] And we played that game for like 20 minutes, me and the three kids.
[4:50] The bush was about the size of this table and the four of us were in there.
[4:53] And then Benji said, okay, let's go inside and have some rest time.
[4:56] And I went, great idea.
[4:57] And as they, I said, you guys go first.
[4:58] And as they were walking in, a bird started swooping me.
[5:02] And I thought, that's a bit weird.
[5:04] And then I moved away from the bush and it kept swooping the bush.
[5:07] I went, oh, it's swooping something in the bush.
[5:10] And another bird joined in.
[5:11] And then this giant tiger snake came out from in the bush.
[5:14] Oh.
[5:15] Yeah, and it was right next to the house.
[5:18] It was the most sickening feeling.
[5:20] People from Queensland, New South Wales are like, man, there's just snakes.
[5:23] They're everywhere.
[5:23] But you don't expect them in Victoria as much.
[5:26] Oh, they're around.
[5:27] Yeah, they are around.
[5:29] Yeah.
[5:29] It'd be like the Hemsworths in Byron Bay.
[5:32] You don't see them that much, but you know they're there.
[5:33] You know they're there.
[5:34] Yeah.
[5:35] You don't know which bush they're in, but they're in one of them.
[5:38] Not necessarily bushes, but yeah.
[5:39] See the bush over there?
[5:40] It's probably a Hemsworth in that.
[5:45] It's hard, it's too dangerous to go too close, but...
[5:48] Probably, they're there.
[5:49] Yeah.
[5:50] Anyway, I yelled out to the neighbor, this lovely man called Chris, and he had his dog Chloe there.
[5:55] So I yelled out and said, Chris, don't let Chloe come over here.
[5:58] And Chloe heard, it was a lovely Labrador, a brown Labrador, heard her name and just ran straight over to me and ran right over the top of the...
[6:06] This is almost not nugatory, but anyway...
[6:08] This is so far from nugatory.
[6:09] Anyway, it ran over, thank you, it ran over...
[6:13] God, what a stitch-up.
[6:15] Hugh's gone, okay, five minutes of negatory chat.
[6:17] I say something boring, he's like, okay, I'll take this.
[6:21] It's like, if you're setting me up for nugatory, don't you present a tiger snake Hemsworth story.
[6:29] Anyway, Chloe runs straight over the top of the tiger snake.
[6:32] It, like, reared up to try and bite her.
[6:34] Just missed her, luckily.
[6:35] Went into some longer grass where we'd been hiding, and Chris and I were, like, either side of it.
[6:39] I was going, you go there, I've got it here, don't let it out.
[6:42] Someone call a snake catcher, keep an eye on it.
[6:44] We were just staring at this grass for, like, five minutes, and then he said, I've got it.
[6:47] I feel like it's not there anymore.
[6:48] And we threw like a broom at the long grass and it was not there.
[6:52] And we're looking around going, oh God, where's it gone?
[6:54] Called the snake catcher out and the snake catcher came out and he incidentally was a man with two teeth.
[7:00] And Benji said, just like the snake he's trying to catch.
[7:02] Yeah.
[7:04] Were they in the same position?
[7:05] The teeth?
[7:06] Yeah.
[7:07] Yep.
[7:07] Really?
[7:07] Exact same.
[7:08] Two fangs.
[7:09] Yeah, that's it.
[7:09] Really?
[7:10] That was it.
[7:11] Yeah, it's amazing.
[7:12] That is amazing.
[7:13] Yeah.
[7:13] And you are so far from Nougat territory.
[7:16] You're getting dangerously interesting here.
[7:19] Anyway, the man, the tiger snake catcher said, anyway, I can't get him.
[7:23] He's gone under the house.
[7:25] Spent the holidays with the tiger snake under our... Yeah.
[7:27] So that's the end of Nougatory Chat.
[7:29] That's our five minutes.
[7:30] Josh, did you have something you wanted to bring?
[7:32] It's hard to up that.
[7:33] Well, no, you need to down it because it needs to be Nougatory.
[7:36] Honestly, the whole time I've been thinking about nougat rather than... Yeah.
[7:40] Fair enough.
[7:40] It's hard not to think about nougat.
[7:42] Yeah.
[7:42] And then I've seen a lot of Toblerone ads recently.
[7:45] Mmm.
[7:46] Yeah.
[7:46] Now we're talking nougatry.
[7:50] If you please get us back on track.
[7:52] I do have something I do want to talk about, which is going to be, I mean, I really can't wait to share this with you.
[7:57] I really cannot wait.
[7:58] Is this the announcement?
[7:59] No, we're getting very close to the announcement.
[8:01] But this is a good segue into it because I think it'll play a big part of it.
[8:05] So I'll start this by saying I never used to believe in ghosts.
[8:10] But there's something going on in the front room of our house.
[8:13] And I've said this before on the podcast, so I won't go into too much detail.
[8:16] Another time you've been swooped.
[8:18] Yes.
[8:19] Yes, that's very true.
[8:20] So one night I just felt a hand on my chest and I thought it was like, well, it was like three in the morning or something.
[8:26] And I thought this is very weird.
[8:28] I thought Penny was pushing me for some reason.
[8:30] And then I turned to the light and there was no one there.
[8:32] And I went, well, that's very weird.
[8:33] I've had a very strange dream there.
[8:35] It happened again the next night, but it was very forceful and I couldn't get up and I
[8:39] Like holding you down.
[8:40] Yes.
[8:41] And I really turned the light again and what is going on, really panicked.
[8:45] A few nights after that, I felt like someone was watching me and I looked up and it looked like Tony Armstrong.
[8:51] But it just kept – these weird things kept happening.
[8:53] The one that I have spoken about before, which is terrifying, is that –
[8:57] And I felt like someone was watching me and I jumped out of bed and turned the light on and was looking everywhere.
[9:02] I got a real fright.
[9:02] I was like, there's someone here.
[9:05] And then Elsie called out from her room.
[9:06] She was quite upset.
[9:07] And I went and got her and I said, you can come and sleep next to me.
[9:10] I lie down, turn off the light.
[9:12] And she was sitting up.
[9:13] And I said, Elsie, what are you doing?
[9:14] And she said, who's that over there?
[9:17] And that's the one that really just, okay, there's something going on here.
[9:20] It's not just your eyes.
[9:21] It's both of your eyes.
[9:23] Yes.
[9:23] And so anyway, I'm thinking, but there's no such thing as ghosts.
[9:25] I don't know what's going on.
[9:27] I have had, it never happens in any other room in the house.
[9:29] I stay in lots of hotels, never in hotels.
[9:31] It's never happened in my life except for in this room.
[9:34] We told Maria Roberto about this.
[9:36] I told Maria Roberto about this when she came on the podcast, wonderful psychologist friend of ours.
[9:42] And she said, you need to call this man.
[9:45] And she handed me a card of a shamanic healer called Garant.
[9:50] That's right.
[9:50] I remember.
[9:51] And she was very insistent that you go and see this person.
[9:54] Penny and the kids were away last week.
[9:56] And the first night I was in the room and I went to sleep and it happened again.
[10:00] I turned around and I thought I saw something hanging on the curtain, just looking at me.
[10:04] And it was terrifying.
[10:06] And what did you see?
[10:06] What was it?
[10:07] Well, I turned the light on.
[10:08] There's nothing there.
[10:09] But I just sit up in shock and horror and such like my heart rate is through the roof.
[10:16] And I thought, I am beyond convinced there's something going on in this room.
[10:21] I believe this.
[10:23] I believe myself.
[10:24] And I'm calling around.
[10:26] Yeah.
[10:26] And so at this point, you're now a ghost believer.
[10:28] Yeah.
[10:30] Yes, I was.
[10:30] Well, you've seen ghosts a number of times.
[10:32] I don't understand what the reluctance is.
[10:34] Yeah, you think you do.
[10:36] Like, you're so clear and then you turn the light on and there's nothing there.
[10:39] It's bizarre.
[10:39] Yeah.
[10:40] But there's probably an element of ghosts that we don't understand.
[10:45] I don't get it.
[10:45] It was there and then it's not.
[10:46] So how can it be real?
[10:48] It's bullshit.
[10:49] Like, if they're real, come on out.
[10:52] Don't say that.
[10:52] Don't.
[10:52] Don't.
[10:53] Please don't.
[10:53] No, don't say that.
[10:54] Please don't provoke it.
[10:55] Sure.
[10:55] Sorry.
[10:56] I'm probably a non-believer.
[10:57] Why?
[10:58] Why?
[10:59] Well, I've never seen one.
[11:00] Serious question.
[11:01] You've never seen one?
[11:02] Never experienced a ghost-like experience.
[11:04] And if I did, I would put it down to something else.
[11:08] Do you believe in Antarctica?
[11:10] Yes, I do.
[11:10] Have you been there?
[11:12] I know someone who has.
[11:13] Really?
[11:14] Well, you know someone over here who's been to Ghostland.
[11:18] It looks like you just got got.
[11:21] You just got got.
[11:27] So I spoke to Grant last week and he was just the most lovely person.
[11:32] I explained the situation, what I've been experiencing, and he said, yep, I'm going to need to...
[11:36] This is so funny.
[11:37] I thought...
[11:38] I went to mum and dad's house on the Mornington Peninsula over the weekend and he's from there.
[11:42] And so I thought, I'll just go and see him.
[11:45] While I'm there, it's perfect.
[11:46] I'll go and have a chat to him.
[11:46] Just drop in.
[11:47] Yeah, and he said, no, no, no, I need to come to your house.
[11:49] Oh, yeah, because it's always in that spot.
[11:51] Yeah.
[11:51] Yeah.
[11:52] And he said, I need to speak to him.
[11:54] I need to tell it.
[11:55] Give it a word.
[11:56] He said, I need to tell it to move on.
[11:58] And I said, what if it's not there?
[12:00] He goes, oh, it's there.
[12:01] It is there.
[12:01] And I see it.
[12:04] I'll walk in.
[12:05] I'll just see it straight away.
[12:06] It'll be in the room.
[12:06] I'll see it.
[12:07] I'll hear it.
[12:08] And I'll be a few hours.
[12:10] It could get a bit heated.
[12:12] It probably won't want to leave.
[12:14] It's protecting someone.
[12:15] And it doesn't like you, obviously.
[12:17] I will come there.
[12:18] I'll speak to it.
[12:19] I'll tell it to go.
[12:20] I'll put it back through a portal.
[12:21] Then I'll close the portal.
[12:23] Yep, that's what I'd do.
[12:23] Yeah.
[12:26] It definitely makes sense.
[12:28] Open the portal, get the ghost, throw it back through the portal, make sure you close the portal and lock it.
[12:33] Lock the portal and hide the keys somewhere.
[12:35] They don't know where it is.
[12:36] Well, he's going to go.
[12:37] He said it'll take about three hours.
[12:38] We'll go around to all the rooms.
[12:41] Charge by the hour?
[12:43] I think it's quite a good rate.
[12:45] How much?
[12:45] Out of interest?
[12:46] It's $280.
[12:48] $280 to get rid of a ghost?
[12:49] Yeah, that's a bargain.
[12:50] That's very good.
[12:51] I get my sleep back, basically.
[12:53] Yeah, that's excellent.
[12:54] $20 for petrol also.
[12:55] That's it.
[12:57] Well, he'd come to the Morning Peninsula, that's fair enough.
[12:59] By the way, he is so busy.
[13:01] He was at a house the other day, six housemates living in this house, and it was haunting all six of them.
[13:06] He had to go all six rooms.
[13:08] Okay.
[13:09] Yeah.
[13:09] So not surprisingly, he's a very busy man because he's very good at what he does.
[13:14] But we are very close to locking in a time for him to come and kick the ghost out, which I am very excited about.
[13:22] Yeah, I bet.
[13:23] Do you know what happened though?
[13:24] Because this is a few days ago and I'm in the house by myself having the phone call with him and I really enjoyed it.
[13:30] I started asking ridiculous questions because I didn't want to hang up, such as what should I wear when you come over?
[13:35] Yeah.
[13:36] Those kind of things.
[13:36] You asked him what you should wear.
[13:37] Well, I didn't know if it was like a formal prostrate wear suit or like, is this a formal thing?
[13:41] He said I can watch the whole thing.
[13:44] Anyway, I started to get, I was thinking, hang on a minute.
[13:46] If the ghost is here and it's here in this conversation, he's not going to be happy with this.
[13:50] Oh, true.
[13:51] So I actually asked him and I'm going to play you a grab from the phone call and I have Garant's permission to play this.
[13:57] He has granted permission.
[13:59] He has granted permission.
[14:00] Absolutely.
[14:02] Good.
[14:03] Would they be listening to this phone call?
[14:05] Are there going to be a talk right now?
[14:08] Not so much listening, but the way I work is because I have permission to understand what's going on for you, we're already working, so they would know I'm coming.
[14:21] That night, by far the worst night I've ever had with the ghost.
[14:25] What did the ghost do?
[14:27] I was honestly up every half an hour with things just...
[14:31] I felt like I was getting swooped a lot again.
[14:33] So the ghost did get the sense that your aunt is on the way?
[14:36] Yeah, and is not happy.
[14:38] Wow.
[14:40] What a cliffhanger.
[14:41] Anyway, I feel like people are going, okay, no more ghosts, can we just have the announcement?
[14:44] Well, I think we should do the announcement.
[14:46] Okay, great.
[14:47] For those who have been following along the journey so far... Who've made it all this way...
[14:54] We announced a few weeks ago, whenever it was a month ago or so, that we have three big announcements to kick off the year.
[14:59] The first announcement we've already announced, and that was the book called My Imperfect Life, which is now.
[15:05] You can buy it at the website, theimperfects.com.au, a journal.
[15:10] So that's announced.
[15:11] And there are two more, two more big announcements.
[15:14] And the second one is happening right now.
[15:17] Josh, what is the second big announcement?
[15:23] Well, if you like the Imperfects, which I assume you do if you're listening to us right now, we're going to release what we're calling A Little More Imperfects, which is a brand new show and a community on Patreon.
[15:36] And what's Patreon, Josh?
[15:38] Patreon is a place where you can go and support people who are doing things online that you like.
[15:44] But an online place.
[15:45] This is not like a house that you go to.
[15:47] Sorry, it's a website.
[15:48] It's a website.
[15:48] Patreon.com.
[15:50] And it's a way that you can give a bit of money to support creators on the internet who are doing things that you like.
[15:55] Yep.
[15:56] And we are so lucky that we've been able to grow this show thanks to you guys listening and thanks to advertisers that have been advertising on the show.
[16:03] We've been able to grow our business to now have employees.
[16:06] You hear their names, George and Bella and Bridge and Jam and all these people that work on the show at the end of the episodes.
[16:12] Yeah.
[16:13] But we want to, I mean, it sounds like I'm speaking now going to a business world that I don't understand, but I think we need to diversify to be able to support and grow more and do more exciting things.
[16:23] Well, there's so much more we want to do.
[16:25] Yeah.
[16:25] And we need a different form of revenue to be able to do that.
[16:28] Absolutely.
[16:29] Yeah.
[16:29] Yeah, exactly.
[16:30] To be super honest, it's like it's how can we...
[16:33] How can we not be so reliant on the ads, which are great, and we are so appreciative and grateful of them.
[16:40] But this will, yeah, I guess give us a little bit more of an opportunity to try new things and to grow this podcast.
[16:47] Yeah.
[16:48] But we've got so many ideas and, yeah, this might be a way that we can achieve those things.
[16:53] And when we started the show, it was very much the three of us, well, it was you guys and then me sort of chatting.
[16:59] There was a lot of time for us to talk and catch up.
[17:02] We've been so lucky in the growth of the show that now we have so many opportunities to get incredible people on that it's kind of jam-packed with other people's incredible stories.
[17:10] And we love interviewing people and talking to them and getting their stories out into the world.
[17:14] But there's not that much time for the three of us to catch up anymore.
[17:17] And to share our imperfections that have been continuously occurring on our life journey.
[17:25] Yeah, so the Patreon will be a place where that will happen on a show that we're calling A Little More Imperfects.
[17:32] I think it's really important for us to say as well, we won't be taking, there's nothing that you currently get that will be taken away and put behind a paywall.
[17:40] Everything you get, have gotten in the past, will be there.
[17:43] We're not taking for free.
[17:45] That's never going to change.
[17:47] This is added content that's going to be on top of what we've always done.
[17:50] Fortnightly episodes of the three of us, a little more imperfects.
[17:54] Yeah, it's so, so exciting.
[17:56] So how much is a little bit of money?
[17:59] And we thought $8.50.
[18:01] Yep.
[18:02] The 50 is really important.
[18:06] $8.50 a month.
[18:07] Well, yeah, at this stage at least, that's going to get you like two extra episodes per month.
[18:12] Yeah.
[18:13] And then...
[18:14] Early access to some things that we... Well, early access to like tickets for, you know, when we do live shows and events.
[18:21] And then also like a...
[18:23] discount on our merch, on our vulnerability house cards, on our mind perfect life book, on our journal, things like that.
[18:30] And then, and this is just the beginning of what, what that $8.50 will get you.
[18:35] But I'm sure there'll be many other things.
[18:37] But I think being part of a small community, a like-minded community who are into the same thing.
[18:43] Yeah.
[18:43] I think that to me is what's most enticing being part of the community.
[18:46] Yeah.
[18:46] So, yes, this is a little more imperfect, an extra show every fortnight.
[18:51] It'll just be the three of us.
[18:53] And, I mean, hearing about your ghost story, actually, Hugh, that is the perfect thing.
[18:58] Well, we are not a ghost podcast, ghost story podcast, as everyone will know.
[19:04] But I do want to follow that story through.
[19:06] I do want to give an update on what happens when...
[19:07] Okay, great.
[19:09] So that's the kind of stuff we would play on Patreon.
[19:12] It's just the three of us.
[19:13] So for the people who don't skip through the starts of episodes where it's just the three of us chatting...
[19:19] It's for you.
[19:20] It's for you.
[19:20] For those of you who skip through and get us to the guest, maybe not for you.
[19:24] Yeah, so it would be patreon.com slash theimperfects.
[19:27] You'd go to that.
[19:29] And then you can sign up to our Patreon to become a member.
[19:31] And once you're a member, you can grab the RSS feed, you can link it.
[19:34] So it'll pop up in your Apple podcast or Spotify podcast or whatever you use as just an extra episode every fortnight.
[19:43] And it's as simple as that.
[19:44] Yeah.
[19:44] We were doing a bit of community and we feel like this is a really nice way to be able to put more into the show.
[19:50] Got to do more shows, do more things by creating a little bit of revenue for the podcast.
[19:54] So yeah.
[19:56] But we do have a clip from our first episode on Patreon that we are going to play for you now.
[20:02] And this first episode, before we play it, this first episode is there now.
[20:06] So you can go, if you sign up, you can go and listen or watch this whole episode.
[20:10] And God, we'd be so appreciative to see you there.
[20:14] But yeah, here's a little taster of that first step.
[20:20] I think, Josiah, I just have another analogy about what this show is.
[20:23] Yeah.
[20:23] It's kind of like your dad on summer holidays.
[20:27] No.
[20:27] You know how like your dad on summer holidays, he's not as serious?
[20:30] Oh, yeah.
[20:31] He's a bit more fun, but he can be serious if he needs to be.
[20:35] But generally, he's there for a good time.
[20:36] That's true.
[20:37] He's got his James Patterson book out.
[20:39] He's had a few Frangelicos.
[20:41] You know what?
[20:41] Fuck it.
[20:45] I'm going to say something silly.
[20:46] Yeah, that's what this is.
[20:47] But he will put his hair up if he needs to.
[20:50] No, well, exactly.
[20:51] Yeah, yeah.
[20:51] Serious conversation.
[20:52] That's what this show is.
[20:53] Yeah, it's a little bit serious when it needs to be, but also a little bit of fun.
[20:58] Like one huge decision we've made to make this a little bit different from the main show is why not wearing any headphones?
[21:10] Talk about fun.
[21:11] You know what?
[21:13] Bridge, George, they said, hey, you guys want headphones?
[21:16] I was like, fuck it.
[21:18] This is what I'm talking about.
[21:20] This is like dad waking up and just putting on shorts.
[21:22] Is that on holidays?
[21:25] Yeah, it just doesn't matter.
[21:26] I don't even wear my slacks today, wear my shorts.
[21:27] Or like dad just walking around with no top on.
[21:29] Yeah.
[21:30] In the apartment.
[21:32] Wow.
[21:33] I mean, I know the pool's like 10 minutes away, but already top off.
[21:39] Okay.
[21:39] That's a perfect analogy.
[21:42] But also, this is, I mean, we always encourage our show and The Imperfects to be a community of sorts, but this is a very intense community in terms of the fact that we want your feedback and we want to hear from you.
[21:57] One way you can do that is within the Patreon.
[21:59] You can comment and you can, you know, make suggestions and ask us questions.
[22:05] But any suggestions or questions that you might have will go into this suggestion box.
[22:11] Yeah.
[22:11] Yeah.
[22:12] Oh, I do have something.
[22:13] Oh.
[22:13] I mean, it would be a suggestion or question to myself.
[22:15] The question would be, hey, Hugh, what are you doing tomorrow?
[22:19] That'd be my question.
[22:19] Okay, that's pretty deep.
[22:21] But also, don't feel like you need to put something in the box every time you want to play something.
[22:25] You can just talk because you're on the show.
[22:27] True.
[22:28] Tomorrow, I have actually booked myself in to get the ball rolling on an ADHD assessment.
[22:35] Oh, wow.
[22:36] Yeah, tomorrow afternoon.
[22:37] That's happening tomorrow.
[22:38] So we had Janelle on the show.
[22:40] Janelle Booker, yeah.
[22:40] Yeah, to talk about ADHD.
[22:43] That was last year.
[22:44] Last year.
[22:45] Yeah.
[22:45] And I was thinking about friends of mine.
[22:48] I was thinking about Jam because you spoke so, so beautifully about Jam's experience.
[22:53] My partner, Jam.
[22:54] Yeah, about yesterday and your experience being her partner.
[22:56] So I was really thinking about you guys throughout that.
[22:59] And then later that afternoon, I was on Instagram and someone had written a comment on a post we did.
[23:06] I think it was...
[23:09] I think it was in regards to the Baker's Delight story and someone had said, Hugh is so ADHD, it's ridiculous.
[23:16] And I was a bit taken aback by that comment and then I showed Penny the comment and she said, yeah, I've thought that for ages.
[23:24] Really?
[23:24] What do you mean you thought that for ages?
[23:26] She goes, well, you lose everything.
[23:30] You're always light for everything.
[23:31] You're so disorganized.
[23:33] And just gave a few examples of why potentially I thought, not once when Janelle was speaking, I was thinking, oh my gosh, this is me.
[23:39] So is this, you're saying this might be like a little Patreon journey you might go on?
[23:45] I think so, yeah.
[23:46] Yeah, it feels to me like a big thing to do in front of a huge audience.
[23:50] Patreon's the right size of audience.
[23:52] Patreon will potentially be a bit smaller.
[23:53] Just the 10 of you.
[23:56] I mean, just with that, is it easier just to invite them in and just have a chat with them?
[24:01] Like, are we going through too much effort here, recording it, releasing it?
[24:06] It's like, just come in.
[24:07] There's only 10 of us.
[24:11] So that is obviously a long, big bite, big taste of the first of the episodes.
[24:19] And also kind of weird to play a taste of that episode within an episode which feels very similar.
[24:26] But yes, yeah, God, how cool.
[24:29] No headphones, hey?
[24:30] Great theme song.
[24:32] Great theme song.
[24:34] And that shows you it's a little bit more fun, isn't it?
[24:36] Yeah.
[24:36] We're just chilling out, hanging.
[24:40] But also, you know, we've got ideas for other podcasts and other things that we want to try, and this may be a good place that we can...
[24:48] try new ideas and just try new show ideas or segment ideas.
[24:53] You know, like I'm sure if we had the Patreon years ago, we probably would have tried a vulnerability house on that first before it became an actual thing.
[25:03] So, yeah, it's a bit of a lab as well.
[25:06] Testing lab.
[25:07] Yeah, yeah.
[25:08] And on that, we are going to have another little mic that points at the direction of the rest of the team.
[25:13] So you might hear a little bit from the rest of the team.
[25:16] Yeah, you were very specific that you wanted it to be a little mic.
[25:20] Hang on, hang on.
[25:22] They're going to be on the show as well.
[25:23] Let's just get a small microphone at a distance.
[25:28] So you can just pick up what they're saying.
[25:31] It's written in the contract, actually.
[25:32] Yes, no, exactly.
[25:33] No, it's going to be fun to be able to like when we actually say, hey, George, hey, Bridge, hey, Bell, what's this?
[25:38] Then you can actually hear them speaking properly.
[25:42] But not now.
[25:43] Only in the Patreon.
[25:45] You've got to pay for that.
[25:47] So, guys, we officially got to every item on the agenda.
[25:50] Pat ourselves on the back for that.
[25:51] I think we even ticked off convey excitement for the new season, which was probably implicit in the episode.
[25:56] How good are we?
[25:57] Are we going to tease any guests or anything, or are we just saying new season?
[26:01] Well, I mean, I think next week we're kicking off with a biggie.
[26:05] Huge.
[26:06] Biggie to kick off the year.
[26:08] The one and only Mick Fanning next week as our first...
[26:13] big main non-summer school episode of the year.
[26:17] Very exciting.
[26:19] I went into that episode thinking when we recorded, I thought like, okay, well, he's going to tell us about punching a shark.
[26:26] I'm not a surfing fan.
[26:27] I obviously know who he is outside of that, but that's what I thought his story would be.
[26:30] But his story is so much bigger and deeper than that.
[26:35] It's quite an amazing story.
[26:37] Story.
[26:38] Yeah.
[26:39] Yeah, he's amazing.
[26:40] Sorry, there's no Mick Fanning chat in the... Yeah, that's fine.
[26:43] I was just looking.
[26:45] I'll put it other business.
[26:46] That's fine.
[26:47] Yeah, that was other business.
[26:50] Yeah, just to convey some excitement, which I know, as Hugh mentioned, was implicit in the episode.
[26:54] However...
[26:55] Very excited.
[26:56] This is our seventh year doing this.
[27:00] And there's nowhere else I'd rather be.
[27:03] I love it so much.
[27:05] We are very happy to be back.
[27:07] We love you guys.
[27:08] So thanks for tuning in.
[27:10] I'm closing the journal.
[27:11] I might never open it ever again.
[27:13] It was fun.
[27:13] It was fun.
[27:15] I can't wait for next week with Mick Fanning.
[27:16] Yeah.

Shows are listed from Apple Podcasts' charts and directory, and Podcast Index where it is used. Every show and episode belongs to its publisher and plays from the publisher's own feed; this site hosts none of them.
