[0:00] Speaker 1: It's Marcus in the morning, and it's time once again,
[0:01] Speaker 1: we call it second date update, and try to bring
[0:04] Speaker 1: some people together. If you get ghosted on a first date,
[0:06] Speaker 1: you just call me, and then we will call your
[0:08] Speaker 1: date together and try to figure some things out. A
[0:10] Speaker 1: lot of times it's a misunderstanding. Let's bring our guy
[0:12] Speaker 1: Diego on. Diego, good morning.
[0:14] Speaker 2: Hey Marcus, how's it going? I'm good, brother. How are you?
[0:16] Speaker 2: I'm pretty good. I mean, I can't complain too much.
[0:19] Speaker 1: Considering, I guess, right?
[0:21] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[0:21] Speaker 1: Um, let's talk about Jessica. So like, yeah. So you
[0:25] Speaker 1: guys went on a date basically. And then she's, she's gone.
[0:28] Speaker 1: Like she's ghosted.
[0:29] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[0:29] Speaker 4: I mean, like, well, we, we matched on hinge, right.
[0:31] Speaker 4: And a couple of weeks earlier before that.
[0:34] Speaker 2: Right.
[0:34] Speaker 4: So then we're texting pretty consistently. Eventually we decided to
[0:38] Speaker 4: meet up. We go to the waterfront restaurant right there
[0:40] Speaker 4: in Alameda.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Okay. And, uh, Yeah. We, you know, she's there. I mean,
[0:44] Speaker 2: and she's gorgeous. I mean, like she's prettier than even
[0:46] Speaker 2: the picture.
[0:47] Speaker 4: So, you know, we're just like getting along. We order
[0:49] Speaker 4: some appetizers. We have some drinks. I think we literally
[0:52] Speaker 4: stay there till the, like they're kicking us out. Like
[0:54] Speaker 4: the whole thing closes.
[0:55] Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah.
[0:56] Speaker 4: It was, it was, the vibes were great. You know,
[0:58] Speaker 4: I walk into her car, we hug goodbye. Um, and
[1:02] Speaker 4: then I texted her in the morning to see how
[1:03] Speaker 4: everything was and then nothing.
[1:06] Speaker 2: Okay. Now. Yeah. I tried twice actually.
[1:10] Speaker 1: I was going to say, did you hit her more
[1:11] Speaker 1: than once?
[1:12] Speaker 4: Texted her in the morning and then i was like
[1:15] Speaker 4: maybe i should call i said no no no so
[1:16] Speaker 4: i waited a couple days i texted her again and
[1:18] Speaker 4: then still.
[1:18] Speaker 1: Nothing okay well let's call her and try to figure
[1:21] Speaker 1: these things out go ahead and mute your phone my
[1:23] Speaker 1: guy here we go hello hi i'm looking for jessica
[1:34] Speaker 1: speaking who's this jessica this is marcus calling from star
[1:39] Speaker 1: 1013 Okay, what's up?
[1:43] Speaker 2: How are you?
[1:45] Speaker 3: I'm good.
[1:46] Speaker 1: Do you listen to the morning show?
[1:48] Speaker 3: I can't say that I do.
[1:50] Speaker 2: Okay, totally fine. They're just my feelings. I have more.
[1:53] Speaker 2: I'm kidding.
[1:57] Speaker 1: So we do a segment on our show. It's called
[2:00] Speaker 1: Second Date Update. And basically, like, it's a dating thing.
[2:04] Speaker 1: I got your phone number from one of our listeners
[2:06] Speaker 1: who says he took you out on a date and
[2:07] Speaker 1: he really enjoyed his time.
[2:09] Speaker 2: But he's feeling like maybe.
[2:11] Speaker 1: You've lost interest that maybe you're ghosting him. And I'm
[2:15] Speaker 1: just trying to figure out where my guy may be
[2:17] Speaker 1: messed up or if there was a misunderstanding.
[2:19] Speaker 2: His name is Diego. Do you have a minute? Can
[2:24] Speaker 2: you talk about your date? Do you mind?
[2:26] Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get some info.
[2:28] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, that's okay. Yeah, I have a few minutes.
[2:31] Speaker 3: I'll let you know what happened.
[2:33] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[2:34] Speaker 1: How was the date.
[2:36] Speaker 2: For you?
[2:37] Speaker 3: Well, actually... It was a really good date. I thought
[2:40] Speaker 3: he was funny and good-looking, seemed successful. I mean, I
[2:45] Speaker 3: was definitely interested. Okay. Until the check came.
[2:50] Speaker 2: Oh, God.
[2:52] Speaker 3: So he insisted on paying, which I really appreciated, but
[2:59] Speaker 3: before handing over the credit card, he asked the server
[3:02] Speaker 3: if the restaurant had a loyalty program. Okay.
[3:06] Speaker 1: And.
[3:07] Speaker 3: The server said yes, and he said, well, can I
[3:10] Speaker 3: sign up and collect points for the meal? And I thought,
[3:14] Speaker 3: you know, that was a little nerdy, but whatever. Nothing
[3:17] Speaker 3: wrong with saving money. But then he pulled out his
[3:19] Speaker 3: phone and opened a spreadsheet.
[3:22] Speaker 1: On his phone?
[3:24] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[3:25] Speaker 3: And it was just really weird. He explained that he's
[3:27] Speaker 3: really into budgeting and, you know, tracks all his expenses.
[3:32] Speaker 3: And again, okay, but strange timing, you know, and he
[3:35] Speaker 3: started showing me how he keeps track of restaurant spending,
[3:38] Speaker 3: credit card rewards, loyalty points. Again, a little intense, but
[3:42] Speaker 3: still kind of okay.
[3:44] Speaker 2: Right.
[3:45] Speaker 3: Until I noticed another tab, and it was labeled dating expenses. Okay.
[3:54] Speaker 3: So I kind of jokingly asked him what that was,
[3:57] Speaker 3: and he explained that he keeps track of how much
[4:00] Speaker 3: he spends on dates. And I thought he was kidding,
[4:04] Speaker 3: but he wasn't.
[4:05] Speaker 2: How does he track them?
[4:07] Speaker 3: Well, there were columns for the woman's name, restaurant, total cost,
[4:13] Speaker 3: whether there was a second date and one more ROI
[4:17] Speaker 3: as in return on investment.
[4:21] Speaker 2: Okay.
[4:21] Speaker 3: Right. So I immediately asked, like, what does that mean?
[4:25] Speaker 3: And he explained that, you know, dating is expensive and
[4:28] Speaker 3: he likes to know whether he's getting his money's worth.
[4:32] Speaker 2: Nice. All right. Yeah.
[4:34] Speaker 3: So I said, you're calculating the return on investment of
[4:38] Speaker 3: a date.
[4:39] Speaker 2: Right.
[4:39] Speaker 3: As in a date with a person.
[4:42] Speaker 2: Okay.
[4:42] Speaker 1: Hold on one second. I'm going to stop you right there.
[4:45] Speaker 1: So the other half of this is, so Diego is
[4:47] Speaker 1: actually listening.
[4:50] Speaker 2: Sorry.
[4:51] Speaker 1: Now I have questions. Hey, Diego, are you there?
[4:54] Speaker 2: First of all, I think it's kind of out of context.
[4:57] Speaker 2: We were joking around a lot back then.
[5:00] Speaker 4: And me showing her that was kind of like, yeah, just,
[5:03] Speaker 4: I don't know, like, you know, transparency about like, yeah,
[5:06] Speaker 4: this is how I think and this is.
[5:07] Speaker 2: How I operate. But this was like, it's a budgeting tool.
[5:11] Speaker 4: And I was just, you know, showing her like, yeah,
[5:13] Speaker 4: you know, this is aspects that I use in my
[5:15] Speaker 4: entire life, including dating.
[5:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, but she's not a stock portfolio.
[5:19] Speaker 2: Exactly.
[5:19] Speaker 4: Exactly.
[5:20] Speaker 2: Of course not.
[5:21] Speaker 4: But it's not just about the money. It's about whether
[5:24] Speaker 4: it was enjoyable, whether we had chemistry, whether I thought
[5:28] Speaker 4: there was potential in an actual relationship. Okay.
[5:32] Speaker 3: So then what was my ROI? What was it?
[5:36] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[5:38] Speaker 4: Well, I mean, we didn't really finish it because we
[5:41] Speaker 4: didn't do another date.
[5:44] Speaker 2: We didn't really follow up.
[5:45] Speaker 3: So my score went down because I didn't text you back?
[5:48] Speaker 3: Is that how it works?
[5:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, technically, yeah. I mean, yeah. Oh, wow. To be real.
[5:53] Speaker 3: Oh, my God. You are so weird. You don't seem
[5:56] Speaker 3: to realize that there's a difference between being financially responsible
[6:00] Speaker 3: and treating women like business expenses.
[6:03] Speaker 4: All right. But once again, the ROI wasn't just about
[6:06] Speaker 4: the money. It's about whether we connected, whether we had
[6:09] Speaker 4: a rapport.
[6:10] Speaker 1: All right.
[6:12] Speaker 2: We could go back and forth forever.
[6:15] Speaker 1: So what if he had not brought up the spreadsheet? Jessica,
[6:18] Speaker 1: did you enjoy yourself enough to maybe consider a second date?
[6:22] Speaker 3: At this point, absolutely not. This is absurd.
[6:25] Speaker 2: All right. I'm calling it. Time out. Hang on, you guys.
[6:29] Speaker 1: Too much info.
[6:30] Speaker 2: Too much disclosure. All right. Second date update.
