The vibes were great until Lauren started asking questions that sounded less like flirting and more like an interrogation. Reid finally asked what everyone would've been thinking: "Why do you need to know THAT?" Her explanation only made things weirder. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:00] Speaker 1: It's Marcus in the morning, back with Second Date Update.
[0:02] Speaker 1: You know this. Lauren is on the phone. Lauren, good morning.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Morning.
[0:06] Speaker 3: Hi.
[0:06] Speaker 1: Hi. I'm hoping we can help you out this morning.
[0:09] Speaker 1: I understand you had a pretty solid date. So the
[0:12] Speaker 1: guy's name is Reed, is that right?
[0:13] Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
[0:15] Speaker 1: And I understand he has ghosted, so let's try to
[0:17] Speaker 1: figure some things out. Give me the details. How did
[0:19] Speaker 1: it go?
[0:20] Speaker 2: Well, we had drinks in Mill Valley, and I texted
[0:24] Speaker 2: him afterwards, and he hasn't responded since. But all in all,
[0:29] Speaker 2: I thought it was a great date. So it's pretty surprising.
[0:33] Speaker 1: Did anything strange happen?
[0:35] Speaker 2: I didn't think so.
[0:38] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[0:38] Speaker 2: It was pretty normal.
[0:40] Speaker 3: We laughed.
[0:41] Speaker 2: We drank. We ate a little bit.
[0:43] Speaker 1: I should probably stop asking that question. It's probably my
[0:46] Speaker 1: job to figure out if something weird happened. I guess
[0:48] Speaker 1: that's the point of this whole thing. At any rate,
[0:50] Speaker 1: my job is to actually get you a second date.
[0:52] Speaker 1: So let's call Reed together, shall we?
[0:55] Speaker 2: Okay.
[0:56] Speaker 1: See if we can figure this out. Go ahead and
[0:58] Speaker 1: mute your phone. I'm going to give him a shout.
[1:00] Speaker 1: Here we go.
[1:08] Speaker 3: Hello?
[1:09] Speaker 1: Hi, is this Reed?
[1:11] Speaker 3: Yes.
[1:12] Speaker 1: Reed, my name is Marcus, and I work for iHeartRadio
[1:16] Speaker 1: out of San Francisco. I do a morning show. I
[1:18] Speaker 1: don't know if you ever listen. It's actually called Marcus
[1:20] Speaker 1: in the Morning.
[1:22] Speaker 3: I hate to say it. I haven't actually listened. I'm
[1:23] Speaker 3: so sorry. All good.
[1:25] Speaker 1: I appreciate your honesty. I'm wondering if you have a
[1:27] Speaker 1: second to be on the air with us.
[1:30] Speaker 3: Sure.
[1:31] Speaker 1: We do a thing called Second Date Update. And I
[1:34] Speaker 1: got your phone number from a lady who says she
[1:37] Speaker 1: went on a date with you recently. This was in
[1:39] Speaker 1: Mill Valley. Her name is Lauren. And she's thinking maybe
[1:43] Speaker 1: you're ghosting. And so I'm just trying to figure out.
[1:46] Speaker 1: I asked her, but did something weird happen? Did you ghost?
[1:50] Speaker 1: Do you remember Lauren?
[1:51] Speaker 3: Yes, I definitely remember her. It was a lovely date.
[1:56] Speaker 3: She's very nice. She's very funny. Very attractive. But I just...
[2:03] Speaker 3: It was a little weird.
[2:06] Speaker 1: What happened?
[2:09] Speaker 3: Well, she started asking me really specific questions about Like,
[2:16] Speaker 3: what time were you born? How's your relationship with your mom?
[2:22] Speaker 3: Have you ever cheated? Which I guess, you know, that's normal.
[2:25] Speaker 3: But like, here's the one that really got me. Do
[2:29] Speaker 3: you happen to have a scar on your left hand?
[2:34] Speaker 3: Do you? Yes.
[2:38] Speaker 2: What?
[2:39] Speaker 1: So where was this going?
[2:43] Speaker 3: Right, exactly. So I was like, okay, why are you
[2:46] Speaker 3: interviewing me like this? I'm starting to get a little
[2:48] Speaker 3: creeped out, right? Like, how does she know there's a
[2:50] Speaker 3: scar on my hand? And so I was like, why
[2:54] Speaker 3: are you grilling me like this? And she admits that
[2:58] Speaker 3: her psychic told her what to be looking for in
[3:02] Speaker 3: the next relationship. And apparently she would meet this guy
[3:07] Speaker 3: with dark hair, a complicated relationship with his mom and
[3:11] Speaker 3: a frigging scar on his hand. I'm like, are you just,
[3:16] Speaker 3: am I a rubric? Like, are you just matching me
[3:19] Speaker 3: against the psychic's description? Like, that's wild. That's wild. Okay.
[3:24] Speaker 1: The other part of this is that Lauren is actually
[3:27] Speaker 1: listening right now.
[3:29] Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
[3:31] Speaker 1: I'd like to bring her on. Lauren, are you there?
[3:32] Speaker 2: I'm here.
[3:36] Speaker 1: Lauren, this is a little out of the ordinary. I'm
[3:38] Speaker 1: not going to lie.
[3:40] Speaker 2: I didn't think it was a big deal. I mean,
[3:42] Speaker 2: I guess some people don't believe in psychics. I've just
[3:45] Speaker 2: been seeing mine for a couple of years, and she's
[3:47] Speaker 2: really good. I mean.
[3:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, apparently.
[3:51] Speaker 1: So, I mean, Reed, you kind of match this to
[3:55] Speaker 1: a T.
[3:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, and that makes it, like, more disturbing. Well, I
[3:59] Speaker 3: do like you, right?
[4:00] Speaker 2: But, I mean, she said that there is something that
[4:04] Speaker 2: I should watch out for. She said I should steer
[4:07] Speaker 2: clear of Gemini's, which you are.
[4:09] Speaker 3: I am a Gemini. So are you just like checking
[4:12] Speaker 3: a box? I don't, are you, are you, are.
[4:16] Speaker 1: We asking him for another date or not? Like, I
[4:18] Speaker 1: don't get it.
[4:19] Speaker 2: I mean, I would like to see him. I didn't
[4:21] Speaker 2: think it was a big deal. Right. I thought he
[4:23] Speaker 2: had like a sense of humor about it. And like,
[4:26] Speaker 2: like I mentioned, I've known her for many years. She's
[4:28] Speaker 2: very accurate. I kind of wanted to see if she
[4:30] Speaker 2: was wrong about that part because you did check off
[4:34] Speaker 2: everything else.
[4:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, but you believed her enough to look for a
[4:37] Speaker 3: scar on my hand. I mean, why not?
[4:39] Speaker 1: That's really specific.
[4:40] Speaker 2: The fact that you have it is crazy. I think
[4:43] Speaker 2: that's crazy good.
[4:45] Speaker 1: So is that a red flag or is he a soulmate?
[4:47] Speaker 1: What's happening?
[4:49] Speaker 2: He might be a soulmate, but the Gemini part is
[4:52] Speaker 2: where I'm like, maybe she's like a 99% type of right.
[4:56] Speaker 2: And I don't know.
[4:57] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[4:57] Speaker 2: I do want to go out with him again.
[4:59] Speaker 3: All right. So we believe in psychics, but not astrology. Okay.
[5:04] Speaker 2: I like you. I'm happy to like find out that
[5:08] Speaker 2: she's wrong about this. Like she doesn't have to be
[5:11] Speaker 2: the end all be all correct.
[5:13] Speaker 3: Okay. All the time.
[5:15] Speaker 2: She's not perfect. Basically, what I'm trying to ask you is,
[5:19] Speaker 2: do you want to go out with me again? Is
[5:20] Speaker 2: this it? Like, I don't know. You left me kind
[5:24] Speaker 2: of hanging.
[5:24] Speaker 1: What do you think, Reed?
[5:26] Speaker 3: Definitely. I'm sorry. I'm just too weirded out by this.
[5:29] Speaker 2: Fair enough.
[5:29] Speaker 1: Hang on. All right. Second date update.
