A hitman walks into his ten-year high school reunion. Luke, Westy, and Matt begin the story of the cult black comedy that mixed contract killing, John Cusack, and one of the great needle-drop soundtracks of the nineties. In Part 1 we cover the film's opening, director George Armitage, the cast, and the second act — including Cusack as a co-writer and star, and the razor-sharp blend of romance, action, and existential dread. Part 2, covering the crew, the finale, reception, and the film's legacy, is available now.
