On Fri.'s No Dunks, the guys revisit the Jaylen Brown trade to the Sixers. Was this solely a cost-cutting move by the Celtics? If so, why did they trade him for this package? And how have both teams fared with filling out the rest of their rosters? That, plus they share NBA free agency winners (Blazers, Jazz, Eastern Conference sickos) and losers (Pistons, Knicks, Lakers executive Rob Pelinka). 🎨 Jersey Swap pics via: https://www.instagram.com/jerseyxswap ✍️ No Dunks' Substack has ad-free episodes: https://nodunks.substack.com/ 👕 Fix up, look sharp in No Dunks merch: https://bit.ly/4qi6nin 📈 Subscribe to No Dunks on YouTube: YouTube.com/nodunksinc 𝕏 Follow No Dunks on Twitter/X: https://x.com/NoDunksInc 📸 Follow No Dunks on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nodunksinc/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:38] Speaker 1: to share some NBA free agency winners and losers, and
[0:43] Speaker 1: we'll also end with some rapid fire questions. But first
[0:47] Speaker 1: we gotta circle back to the shocking trade from earlier
[0:50] Speaker 1: this week. We dropped the Emergency podcast because on Wednesday night,
[0:54] Speaker 1: the Beantown Boys split up one of the most successful
[0:58] Speaker 1: duos in recent NBA history. The Celtics traded Jalen Brown
[1:03] Speaker 1: to the seventy six ers for Paul George, two first
[1:06] Speaker 1: round picks twenty twenty eight by way of the Clippers
[1:09] Speaker 1: and their own unprotected in twenty thirty one, and then
[1:13] Speaker 1: two second rounders. Yesterday, Jalen Brown released a statement on
[1:19] Speaker 1: the deal, writing in part because look at this thing.
[1:22] Speaker 1: It was lengthy, but he did say quote, I'm still
[1:25] Speaker 1: processing how this all went down. I'm excited and disappointed
[1:30] Speaker 1: at the same time. And he wasn't done because last
[1:33] Speaker 1: night he hosted I think it was an hour long
[1:36] Speaker 1: Twitch stream finally and talked more about obviously the shocking deal. Here,
[1:43] Speaker 1: you've had some time to think about it, Jail and
[1:46] Speaker 1: Brown to the sixers, and maybe you've read the statement
[1:48] Speaker 1: and watched the clips from Twitch. I don't know. Co Yeah,
[1:51] Speaker 1: what do you think here? After a couple of days
[1:54] Speaker 1: to really ponder this move?
[1:57] Speaker 2: This was just more about money than it was about
[1:59] Speaker 2: basketball for this Celtics. Their ownership decided, Hey, this is
[2:03] Speaker 2: the way we're going to plan out our roster and
[2:06] Speaker 2: our salary cap for the next few years. We don't
[2:08] Speaker 2: want to give Jalen Brown an extension. At some point
[2:11] Speaker 2: it was more like the tetris is like, let's fit
[2:14] Speaker 2: these in the spreadsheet. Okay, Jason Tatum, you're surely the
[2:17] Speaker 2: number one, and then everybody else fits below that, And
[2:20] Speaker 2: this ownership was unwilling to give two guys max deals.
[2:23] Speaker 2: This is not about basketball. This is not what Jalen
[2:25] Speaker 2: Brown's comments on his platform or social media or him
[2:28] Speaker 2: liking it or the team like. This is strictly about money.
[2:31] Speaker 2: That's what it comes down to. And they decided to
[2:34] Speaker 2: give a shorter term to Paul George to move on
[2:36] Speaker 2: from there, and then yeah, have smaller pieces down the roster.
[2:41] Speaker 2: And you see one team in Philadelphia willing to commit
[2:44] Speaker 2: five hundred million dollars to their three guys over the
[2:47] Speaker 2: next three years in Jalen Brown, Tyres Maxey and Joel Embiid,
[2:50] Speaker 2: and other teams that don't. Some teams want to do it,
[2:53] Speaker 2: and this ownership doesn't. You know, back over the last
[2:56] Speaker 2: few weeks, I was thinking, okay, getting into Bill Chisholm
[3:02] Speaker 2: and his ownership and if he'll see eye to eye
[3:05] Speaker 2: with Jalen Brown, because he's a true fan and he
[3:09] Speaker 2: is the owner, but he's more of a ceremonial owner.
[3:11] Speaker 2: He's there, but it's the money behind him, the private
[3:14] Speaker 2: equity money behind him, that decides where we're going with this.
[3:18] Speaker 2: And that's just the habit and what's happening with a
[3:22] Speaker 2: lot of ownerships in sports in general. It's private equity
[3:25] Speaker 2: money and they decided we're not going for it.
[3:28] Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair, but then why did they trade Brown
[3:31] Speaker 1: for this package? Sure they have not done better.
[3:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, Paul George is done and thirties thirty six, he's
[3:38] Speaker 2: got two years left. We don't have to give six
[3:41] Speaker 2: years of money to somebody. I mean, that's I think
[3:43] Speaker 2: that's what it comes down to. We can go to
[3:45] Speaker 2: Derrek White and Peyton Prichard and Meashketa and others, and
[3:49] Speaker 2: it's again it's Tetris Man, Jason Tatum's the big bar
[3:52] Speaker 2: and then the other pieces will fit in. That's that's
[3:55] Speaker 2: that's what it is to me. That's what it sure
[3:56] Speaker 2: looks like. Some teams will do it. Some people will
[3:58] Speaker 2: say two max, three max. We're seeing it in other teams.
[4:02] Speaker 2: But I mean, you can hear Cuban talk about it
[4:05] Speaker 2: now a lot. He basically says ownership has changed. There's
[4:08] Speaker 2: the families that own it here and there, but those
[4:12] Speaker 2: are getting far far fewer. We're just seeing a lot
[4:15] Speaker 2: of this happen and a lot of sports, and that's
[4:16] Speaker 2: what Boston's doing. And I don't think it's about Jaylen Brown.
[4:19] Speaker 3: Really, do you think Peyton Pritchard would be like the
[4:20] Speaker 3: little plus.
[4:22] Speaker 2: Okay, that's what I happened.
[4:23] Speaker 3: He would either be the plus or the box. I
[4:24] Speaker 3: don't know which one of them. He's got to be
[4:26] Speaker 3: one of the smallest ones. And it's symmetrical as well, Peepe,
[4:30] Speaker 3: So I like that.
[4:30] Speaker 1: But I'm with you.
[4:31] Speaker 3: I do think that this is largely a financial move,
[4:34] Speaker 3: and I think one of the big takeaways in general
[4:36] Speaker 3: from free agency is that we're feeling the effects of
[4:39] Speaker 3: this new CBA and how scared teams are to go
[4:41] Speaker 3: until the second apron. The owners completely crush the players
[4:44] Speaker 3: on this one. It ain't ever going back to a
[4:47] Speaker 3: time when it to a time when it's not a
[4:49] Speaker 3: hard cap, and that sucks for the players, and it
[4:51] Speaker 3: sucks for teams that draft well and build up these guys,
[4:55] Speaker 3: because now we're getting to a place where giving Jalen Brown,
[4:58] Speaker 3: a guy who is a homegrown star, who's a Finals MVP,
[5:01] Speaker 3: who's an All NBA player, You're like, I don't know
[5:04] Speaker 3: if we want to pay this guy. I don't think
[5:05] Speaker 3: that's the way that this CBA was supposed to work.
[5:07] Speaker 3: Was supposed to make it easier to keep players in
[5:10] Speaker 3: the places that they started in, and now it just
[5:12] Speaker 3: becomes we're signing that deal and then moving it later
[5:15] Speaker 3: because you can't pay top five money to a top
[5:18] Speaker 3: fifteen guy. And that's basically what it is. But I
[5:20] Speaker 3: think the other thing at play here is Celtics just
[5:22] Speaker 3: must hate Jaalen Brown, Like why would they do this
[5:26] Speaker 3: deal now? They could have just waited. No, you don't
[5:29] Speaker 3: even have to be in Boston right now. Jalen Brown
[5:31] Speaker 3: could be on vacation if he wanted, but he's streaming,
[5:35] Speaker 3: so that's his choice. But he could be doing anything
[5:37] Speaker 3: else in the world. The Sixers would do this trade
[5:40] Speaker 3: any day of the summer. They absolutely could have waited.
[5:43] Speaker 3: They could have tried to patch things up with Jalen Brown.
[5:45] Speaker 3: They could have brought him back for the season. Maybe
[5:48] Speaker 3: things go well, maybe they don't. But guess what, some
[5:49] Speaker 3: other team's going to come out of the gate and
[5:51] Speaker 3: go four and sixteen, like, oh, we gotta do something.
[5:54] Speaker 3: Maybe then you could pounce on this, or they could
[5:56] Speaker 3: do the Paul George deal later. The only other thing
[5:58] Speaker 3: I can think of is is maybe the Celtics now
[6:01] Speaker 3: think they've got something else lined up because they do
[6:03] Speaker 3: have flexibility, they do have salary cap relief, a little
[6:06] Speaker 3: further down the line, and they got a couple of
[6:08] Speaker 3: more assets that they can throw into a trade. So
[6:10] Speaker 3: I know they've been linked to like a Trey Murphy
[6:13] Speaker 3: like type character, maybe a different Pelican in Herb Jones,
[6:16] Speaker 3: whatever it may be. This can look a little bit
[6:18] Speaker 3: better if they get somebody back who's more young, for
[6:22] Speaker 3: lack of a better word, like, if it ain't just
[6:24] Speaker 3: Paul George, if it's if it's Paul George and Trey Murphy,
[6:28] Speaker 3: you're that's fine, right, Like, but still, this is dumb
[6:32] Speaker 3: for the Celtics to have done this. I think they
[6:33] Speaker 3: can still be good in the regular season, but I
[6:35] Speaker 3: don't think they're a championship contender anymore.
[6:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's what ownership is all about. Now
[6:40] Speaker 2: we can be good and they.
[6:42] Speaker 1: Will be, Yeah, in the regular season. They're convinced that
[6:47] Speaker 1: they could be good in the playoffs too. If this
[6:49] Speaker 1: is they're just their you know, current roster or yeah,
[6:52] Speaker 1: there's another move to be made.
[6:53] Speaker 2: But I you know, but their peak is their peak
[6:56] Speaker 2: is not as high. It's clear, sure, So I think
[6:59] Speaker 2: they're comfortable saying, all right, we'll start to piece these together.
[7:02] Speaker 2: We get a draft pick here, maybe they have another
[7:04] Speaker 2: move here. That's why they're comfortable keeping a Shireman and
[7:07] Speaker 2: a Hugo Gounzales like the cheap parts.
[7:10] Speaker 1: So is that why you think then they ultimately didn't
[7:12] Speaker 1: make the trade for Yannest then too because of this
[7:14] Speaker 1: idea like, well that'd be just two Max guys there,
[7:16] Speaker 1: and okay, we'll just be giving you, honest now, the
[7:18] Speaker 1: massive super Max extension, and now we still have seventy
[7:21] Speaker 1: percent tied up in two guys, right.
[7:23] Speaker 2: It seems to be part of it as any guy
[7:24] Speaker 2: who has injured pressing, Yeah, it's giving seventy percent of
[7:28] Speaker 2: your salary cap to two guys. That's what the problem
[7:32] Speaker 2: is now with today's hard cap. That's not a hard cap,
[7:35] Speaker 2: that's a hard cap, but seventy percent, you just you
[7:37] Speaker 2: can't go over that. And so if those guys each
[7:39] Speaker 2: earned thirty five percent, Yannis specifically, and Tatum, same with Brown.
[7:43] Speaker 2: So it's just it's harder to to just ship guys away.
[7:47] Speaker 2: It's easier to look at it and say, okay, well
[7:50] Speaker 2: you can lose a little, but we'll be good. It's money.
[7:53] Speaker 1: Like earlier in the week, we had Brian Windhorse saying
[7:56] Speaker 1: that he had heard Brad Stevens and Celtics were like
[7:58] Speaker 1: offering Jalen Brown everywhere to use windhorses line, you know,
[8:02] Speaker 1: the word everywhere. Sean's doubled down on that after the
[8:05] Speaker 1: trade and he was like, yeah, they were full blown
[8:07] Speaker 1: shopping Jalen Brown, because remember there was like reports are
[8:10] Speaker 1: like eight to ten teams like whatever. Yeah to me,
[8:15] Speaker 1: like yeah, and to go back to what you said TK,
[8:17] Speaker 1: like this does not happen really in my opinion. You know,
[8:22] Speaker 1: there's no salvagible relationship here between jale and Brown, and
[8:25] Speaker 1: it feels like the Celtics front office to them just
[8:28] Speaker 1: like all right, we'll take Paul George and some draft capital.
[8:32] Speaker 1: Like usually when an all NBA player is traded, it's
[8:36] Speaker 1: a big haul of picks or at the very least
[8:39] Speaker 1: a young player or two. Not Paul George. No, that's
[8:42] Speaker 1: that's the weird part. Despite being one year earlier done
[8:46] Speaker 1: and not having to give a contract.
[8:47] Speaker 2: Extension extension, Yeah, you're giving Jalen Brown a MAX extension.
[8:51] Speaker 2: That's a big part. So Jaylen Brown gets on Twitch
[8:54] Speaker 2: yesterday and he seemed hurt. I mean they picked did
[8:57] Speaker 2: they packed me up? Yep?
[8:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, And so.
[9:01] Speaker 2: I don't know how hurt the Celtics are towards or
[9:04] Speaker 2: what they feel towards Jalen Brown. I don't buy into
[9:07] Speaker 2: that they didn't like him. This just wasn't salvagable. I
[9:11] Speaker 2: don't buy that part.
[9:12] Speaker 3: Well, I do buy that it was something unsalvagable. I
[9:17] Speaker 3: mean he didn't say he literally didn't say the word
[9:19] Speaker 3: Celtics in his going away thing. He says I'm mad
[9:22] Speaker 3: and disappointed. So obviously he's still upset, but you can
[9:25] Speaker 3: also tell him to suck it up. You're upset in
[9:28] Speaker 3: the summer, who cares come back and play right? They
[9:31] Speaker 3: have him under contract. They could have done that. It
[9:33] Speaker 3: could be weird. We've seen that happen before, but that
[9:36] Speaker 3: would be better than this.
[9:37] Speaker 2: I mean, they picked Tatum over Brown, that's clear.
[9:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, and they should.
[9:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, he is the better player. Let's remember that. As
[9:44] Speaker 2: good as Jalen Brown was this past twelve months. I mean,
[9:47] Speaker 2: there is a question if Tatum's going to be the
[9:48] Speaker 2: exact same guy. But he looked great coming back this season.
[9:52] Speaker 2: But to me, your ceiling is not as high. They
[9:56] Speaker 2: picked money more than basketball. It is weird time wise,
[10:00] Speaker 2: they could have done this in September.
[10:02] Speaker 1: I mean, this is going to just be discussed all
[10:04] Speaker 1: summer long what happened here? And I can't wait for
[10:06] Speaker 1: the what do they call it?
[10:08] Speaker 2: Then?
[10:08] Speaker 1: Now you tell me article, because oh my god, you
[10:10] Speaker 1: feel like that's going to be dropping the next couple
[10:12] Speaker 1: of weeks and maybe we get some more details of
[10:14] Speaker 1: what the hell went wrong? Was it all about this
[10:16] Speaker 1: analytics angle and this idea that, oh my god, Jaylen
[10:19] Speaker 1: Brown makes a lot of money and as an all
[10:21] Speaker 1: NBA player, but somehow we're better when he's not on
[10:24] Speaker 1: the floor and we win games when he's not out there,
[10:25] Speaker 1: and all that there's a relationship between Brown and Tatum.
[10:28] Speaker 1: I assume we get more from that. I don't think
[10:30] Speaker 1: he said Tatum's name last night in this Twitch stream.
[10:33] Speaker 1: There's the honest part of it all. And you know
[10:36] Speaker 1: how that opened up a can of worms. It's it's
[10:38] Speaker 1: a mess here, and you're right, he did seem he
[10:40] Speaker 1: seemed like generally sort of shocked and hurt and like,
[10:43] Speaker 1: obviously now he fires up the whole revenge idea of
[10:47] Speaker 1: he's back in the process or he said.
[10:50] Speaker 3: He's literally like I got to change my mindset. I
[10:53] Speaker 3: hate the process. Now I'm part of the process.
[10:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
[10:56] Speaker 3: Guess he's not part of the process. I guess we're
[10:58] Speaker 3: post process at this point. And that's what one of
[11:00] Speaker 3: the interesting things to me is like, there's barely any
[11:03] Speaker 3: talk about the result of the team for the Celtics here.
[11:06] Speaker 3: There's barely even less talk about the result of the
[11:09] Speaker 3: team for the Sixers. Here, it's all about the Celtics books,
[11:12] Speaker 3: which is kind of weird, because this is awesome for
[11:14] Speaker 3: the Sixers to get another All NBA player for Paul George.
[11:18] Speaker 1: They got two guys.
[11:19] Speaker 3: Who've made second team All NBA. They got two guys
[11:21] Speaker 3: who last season got MVP votes in Tyrese Maxi and
[11:25] Speaker 3: now Jalen Brown as well. That to me is very
[11:28] Speaker 3: exciting if I'm a Sixers fan. This is a Maxim move.
[11:31] Speaker 3: This is not an Embiid move. This is a new
[11:33] Speaker 3: era for the Philadelphia seventy six Ers. You said this
[11:36] Speaker 3: seem like a Daryl Morey move. Daryl Morey would have
[11:38] Speaker 3: never traded for Jalen Brown. He would have been one
[11:40] Speaker 3: of the analytics guys in no way. Yeah, and not
[11:43] Speaker 3: to mention, Daryl Morey seems to have been scared to
[11:45] Speaker 3: make a big move in the past couple of seasons
[11:47] Speaker 3: for the Sixers unless his hand was being forced. But
[11:49] Speaker 3: it's interesting to me because now Embiid becomes a luxury,
[11:53] Speaker 3: he becomes their ceiling piece. He was their floor piece
[11:56] Speaker 3: last year. You look at the playoffs, they were down
[11:57] Speaker 3: three to one. When Embiid was not playing or bar
[12:00] Speaker 3: able to be on the court. He had three gay
[12:02] Speaker 3: great games. They won all three of them. He was
[12:04] Speaker 3: back to doing nothing in round two they lost all
[12:07] Speaker 3: four of those games. They were solely reliant on Joel
[12:10] Speaker 3: Embiid to make them a better team. Now they got
[12:12] Speaker 3: Maxie who's gonna play a ton. They got Jaylen Brown,
[12:15] Speaker 3: who's gonna play a ton. They're a better team right now.
[12:18] Speaker 1: VJ.
[12:18] Speaker 3: Edgecombe will take a step forward. They're deeper than they were.
[12:21] Speaker 3: We'll get into the Simons signing Huck party as well.
[12:25] Speaker 3: They're a younger, more athletic, deeper team that's not as
[12:28] Speaker 3: reliant on Joel Embiid. Now the question is his contract.
[12:31] Speaker 3: How much can he actually give you to reach your peak?
[12:33] Speaker 3: It matters a little bit less now, and I think
[12:35] Speaker 3: that's huge for Philadelphia.
[12:37] Speaker 1: The Philly starters are Maxi, Edgecombe, Brown, probably Dean Wade,
[12:41] Speaker 1: right now at the four, and then Joel Embiid and
[12:43] Speaker 1: the bench, Bona Barlow, huck Porty, Justin Edwards, Anthony Simon
[12:47] Speaker 1: signed a two year, twelve point three million dollars deal
[12:49] Speaker 1: with the Sixers, and then their first round pick LeBaron
[12:52] Speaker 1: filand Junior. Not bad obviously an elite, elite starting lineup task,
[12:57] Speaker 1: but a lot of this hinges. Of course, you get
[13:00] Speaker 1: into the postseason. On Joelle Embiid, they're good. Yeah, they're
[13:03] Speaker 1: gonna be good in the regular season, embid or not,
[13:05] Speaker 1: I think, but for them to like really go far
[13:08] Speaker 1: conference finals, finals, yeah, it's it's Embid.
[13:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, your bigs are now if Embiid has heard, it's
[13:14] Speaker 2: Dominic Barlow and some Bona and some hock Porty.
[13:18] Speaker 1: Yeah that's what. It's not staring anybody.
[13:20] Speaker 2: Ye, it's sure.
[13:21] Speaker 3: But they were starting Don Barlow last year.
[13:23] Speaker 2: During the regular season, yeat, And they were good in
[13:25] Speaker 2: the playoffs when and be played.
[13:27] Speaker 3: But Barlow is an eighth man now, like the team
[13:29] Speaker 3: is just so much better and they did it for
[13:31] Speaker 3: what one extra year of a younger guy. I'm jaylenown.
[13:35] Speaker 3: They are probably I don't think any of us have
[13:37] Speaker 3: them as winners but they're the winners of the postseason
[13:39] Speaker 3: or the off season so far.
[13:41] Speaker 2: For me, you got a great player, as simple as that.
[13:45] Speaker 2: I mean, in the East, it's fun to look at
[13:49] Speaker 2: the Tears because, yeah, the Philadelphia should be in that
[13:52] Speaker 2: second tier, but Toronto could be there where Detroit is. Yeah,
[13:55] Speaker 2: the whole thing is, we'll get into the Eastern Conference
[13:57] Speaker 2: and how it all looks later on in the show's
[14:01] Speaker 2: laughing right now.
[14:02] Speaker 1: And according to the Athletic, the Sixers have thrown their
[14:04] Speaker 1: hat into the proverbial ring to acquire Lebron's services on
[14:08] Speaker 1: the heels of this Jaleen Brown trade too. Yes, yeah,
[14:11] Speaker 1: look again, it makes sense from a basketball perspective. I know, Trey,
[14:15] Speaker 1: I saw you shared on Blue Sky. I think it
[14:17] Speaker 1: is real. This rich Paul whiteboard going around of him
[14:22] Speaker 1: basically breaking down all of the I guess, realistic landing
[14:25] Speaker 1: spots for Lebron to go sort of the four basically
[14:30] Speaker 1: starting lineups minus Lebron and his spot for some of
[14:33] Speaker 1: these teams and Sixers is on the board, and so's
[14:36] Speaker 1: the Cavs, the Wolves, So it'sluck. I mean, guess he
[14:40] Speaker 1: could be going there.
[14:41] Speaker 2: He could land there. Yeah, where does Lebron go. It
[14:45] Speaker 2: was interesting to see everybody realize that Mike Gansey, the
[14:49] Speaker 2: guy who's running the seventy six ers front office, played
[14:52] Speaker 2: aau and high school ball against Lebron. He was second
[14:56] Speaker 2: a runner up to Mister Basketball to Lebron in two
[14:59] Speaker 2: thousand one, and now he's running their front office. And
[15:03] Speaker 2: Steve Gansey, Mike Ganzy's brothers, shared a photo of the
[15:05] Speaker 2: two of them together as high school Steve Gansey, who
[15:08] Speaker 2: we watched as a college Park Skyhawks head coach.
[15:13] Speaker 1: There's there's lots of connections.
[15:14] Speaker 2: How could you not get excited about that?
[15:16] Speaker 3: Well, i mean, come on, at this point, with Lebron,
[15:18] Speaker 3: you can find a photo of him with any NBA
[15:20] Speaker 3: player he's played with, like one to thirty percent of
[15:22] Speaker 3: the league or something like that. I'm sure there's photos
[15:24] Speaker 3: of him with Sean Marks from twenty years ago.
[15:27] Speaker 2: But a high schooler who was second in Mister Basketball voting,
[15:32] Speaker 2: come on, you don't see that Anyways, It is pretty
[15:34] Speaker 2: cool to see all that drama happening. Yeah, as far
[15:38] Speaker 2: as the draft picks go, that Boston gets back, that's
[15:43] Speaker 2: all convoluted. But it could be Phillies if it ends
[15:46] Speaker 2: up being bad for some crazy reason. It could be
[15:49] Speaker 2: that first this first one at twenty twenty eight, if
[15:52] Speaker 2: it lands one to eight, So it could be super
[15:53] Speaker 2: good too, outside of the Clippers portion of it, which
[15:57] Speaker 2: it could turn into the Clippers because it's convoluted.
[15:59] Speaker 1: The Celtics also some other moves here in free agency.
[16:02] Speaker 1: Namiyash Kita is signing a new four year, fifty six
[16:05] Speaker 1: million dollar extension with Boston, and then we know about
[16:07] Speaker 1: Mitchell Robinson agreeing to a three year, forty seven point
[16:10] Speaker 1: four million dollar deal with the Celtics. Trade a couple
[16:13] Speaker 1: big guys here, one keeping obviously Mitchell Robinson the big edition.
[16:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, the Celtics came into the offseason
[16:20] Speaker 3: saying we want to put more pressure on the rim,
[16:23] Speaker 3: and Mitchell Robinson's gonna help with that. I do think
[16:25] Speaker 3: the Celtics are still gonna be a good regular season
[16:27] Speaker 3: team next season. They won fifty six games without Jason
[16:31] Speaker 3: Tatum for the majority of the season. Now you're basically
[16:33] Speaker 3: switching Tatum for Brown. Paul George is in the mix,
[16:36] Speaker 3: Now Mitchell Robinson's in the mix. It feels like a
[16:38] Speaker 3: big time bet on Peyton Pritchard and seeing how much
[16:42] Speaker 3: more creation he can take on being the one on
[16:45] Speaker 3: one guy that Jalen Brown was. So, yeah, I do
[16:48] Speaker 3: think the Celtics, like we said earlier, they're not a
[16:51] Speaker 3: title contender this season, but I think that they've like
[16:54] Speaker 3: figured out the regular season. They were playing nobody's last
[16:58] Speaker 3: year during the regular season and winning fifty six games
[17:00] Speaker 3: because they just understand how to max out possessions and
[17:03] Speaker 3: the math of taking so many threes.
[17:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's interesting that the Knicks kind of picked Alvarado
[17:09] Speaker 2: and Shammitt over Mitchell Robinson and said, Mitchell, you go
[17:13] Speaker 2: eat your money elsewhere as James Dolan keeps saying the
[17:15] Speaker 2: second apron is suicidal and doesn't want to get anywhere
[17:18] Speaker 2: close to that is. So it is kind of crappy
[17:21] Speaker 2: as we'll get to winners and losers for the Knicks
[17:23] Speaker 2: and how this is all panned out as far as
[17:26] Speaker 2: Mitchell Robinson goes, because he is I think, you know,
[17:28] Speaker 2: a bit of an emotional motor for that team. So
[17:31] Speaker 2: that stinks. But the Celtics are not better one two,
[17:35] Speaker 2: but they're better yeah, seven through eleven because of what
[17:38] Speaker 2: they've done to these little parts.
[17:40] Speaker 1: Anything else on six or Celtics squeel a lot more
[17:43] Speaker 1: to still get in here.
[17:44] Speaker 3: Who's the number one guy on the Sixers? Is it
[17:48] Speaker 3: the guy who won an MVP? Is it their best
[17:49] Speaker 3: player from last season, or is it the guy they
[17:51] Speaker 3: just traded for. That's a question I think they're going
[17:54] Speaker 3: to have to answer because obviously Jalen Brown wants to
[17:57] Speaker 3: be the number one guy.
[17:58] Speaker 1: Right.
[17:58] Speaker 3: We saw the twitches, we saw the clips. There's two
[18:02] Speaker 3: guys who have a claim to it already, and I
[18:04] Speaker 3: don't necessarily know necessarily how they all make each other better,
[18:08] Speaker 3: but I think that this is good for Philly. They
[18:10] Speaker 3: needed a big wing creator. That was the place that
[18:12] Speaker 3: they were lacking. And I think that both Maxi and
[18:16] Speaker 3: VJ edgecom are awesome off ball players.
[18:18] Speaker 1: Yes, that's what part I love it. I love Maxi
[18:20] Speaker 1: off ball. I can shoot. Obviously he's operated there before.
[18:25] Speaker 1: And look, Nick Nurse loves nothing more than hey go
[18:29] Speaker 1: cook him. Yes, he loves that type of offense. We
[18:32] Speaker 1: saw him win a championship, you know, to some extent
[18:34] Speaker 1: with Kawhi Leonard as that guy. Just go get us
[18:36] Speaker 1: a bucket. Now you've got two arguably three if you
[18:39] Speaker 1: get the ball into him, be like, hey, just go
[18:41] Speaker 1: get us two points here or three in Maxie's case.
[18:43] Speaker 1: So yeah, it's good. There'll be some growing pains, but again,
[18:46] Speaker 1: this is an absolute no brainer. I think this fell
[18:49] Speaker 1: in their lap. I truly believe this was like, this
[18:53] Speaker 1: was not on their vision board at the start of
[18:55] Speaker 1: the summer and free agency. Oh we'll go get Jalen
[18:57] Speaker 1: Brown for Paul George. I don't think so. And it
[19:01] Speaker 1: was like, you know, suddenly you pick up the call
[19:03] Speaker 1: and you're like, really, that's all it's going to do. Yeah,
[19:04] Speaker 1: we'll do it. I we'll figure it out from there.
[19:06] Speaker 1: That's a classic get the guy.
[19:08] Speaker 2: Yeah and figure it out. Yeah, they'll figure it out.
[19:11] Speaker 2: I think Maxi and Jalen Brown will figure it out.
[19:13] Speaker 2: Great sign that Jaalen Brown takes to his first twitch
[19:16] Speaker 2: and starts talking about how he's going to have to
[19:19] Speaker 2: adapt to a new scenario where Maxie is the number
[19:22] Speaker 2: one guy. I think Joel Embiid knows that Maxi is
[19:25] Speaker 2: taken over, and we saw that through the regular season.
[19:28] Speaker 2: The Maxie Brown question is important. If we're going back,
[19:31] Speaker 2: you bring up Nick Nurse managing the twenty nineteen championship run.
[19:36] Speaker 2: Obviously coolh I was number one Pascal was an incredible
[19:39] Speaker 2: number two, taking it to guys, you know, if you
[19:42] Speaker 2: need the ball and you need a possession. Paski was
[19:45] Speaker 2: really really good at doing that. Who takes the question? Yeah,
[19:49] Speaker 2: who is the who is the Kawhi and who is
[19:52] Speaker 2: the Pascal Siakam In this case, I guess they're I
[19:55] Speaker 2: don't know if they're both equal, sort of kind of going.
[19:59] Speaker 1: To be Brown somewhat interchangeable. Yeah, stagger him as well.
[20:03] Speaker 3: That's that's awesome because like when Maxie would go to
[20:05] Speaker 3: the bench, they didn't really have anybody else. But also
[20:07] Speaker 3: Maxi had some troubles I thought during clutch times making
[20:10] Speaker 3: smart decisions. Another question I have is who's gonna lead
[20:12] Speaker 3: the NBA in minutes play? And Maxi led it in
[20:15] Speaker 3: minutes per game. Edgecombe was eleventh and Jalen Brown was fifteenth.
[20:20] Speaker 3: I think they all finished top five next season, top five.
[20:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, man Nurse loved the plays. I know he does,
[20:25] Speaker 1: I know he does. Yeah, they'll be high.
[20:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, the Wings are going to play a ton
[20:29] Speaker 2: because yeah, they did get a little deeper, but because
[20:32] Speaker 2: they lost Quinton Grimes and they lost Kelly Rigg, two
[20:35] Speaker 2: guys who played it's gonna be on Jalen Brown and
[20:39] Speaker 2: you know, some Dean Wade to play a ton of
[20:40] Speaker 2: minutes because you're justin Edwards me, you're Anthony Simon se
[20:44] Speaker 2: I don't know how much those guys are gonna play
[20:46] Speaker 2: at all.
[20:46] Speaker 1: So Simon's gonna play.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna play.
[20:48] Speaker 3: He's their third guard. They needed a third guard unless
[20:51] Speaker 3: they wanted to come in with Filon as the guy.
[20:53] Speaker 2: And yeah, that's risky as a rookie, it's true.
[20:55] Speaker 1: And you know he played pretty well for the Celtics.
[20:58] Speaker 1: I mean, shot nearly forty percent from three. The guy
[21:00] Speaker 1: like so far away from three. Man, he's a pretty
[21:02] Speaker 1: good three point shooter. He's shown them out of the
[21:03] Speaker 1: last couple of seasons here. So yeah, he joins the
[21:07] Speaker 1: seventy six ers. As I said there, all right, let's
[21:10] Speaker 1: move on to the Lakers. They got busy on I
[21:13] Speaker 1: guess was this was Wednesday. I'm losing track of time.
[21:15] Speaker 1: It was one, I think it was Wednesday. But after
[21:18] Speaker 1: they learned that Lebron of course was gonna, you know,
[21:21] Speaker 1: get on LinkedIn, they added Walker Kessler in a trade
[21:25] Speaker 1: with the Utah Jazz and then they signed him to
[21:27] Speaker 1: four year, one hundred and thirty six million dollar deal,
[21:30] Speaker 1: and then like in the span of like what was it,
[21:32] Speaker 1: thirty five to forty minutes, they signed Mamu to a
[21:34] Speaker 1: four year, fifty two million dollar deal. He played for
[21:36] Speaker 1: the Raptors last year, Quinton Grimes four year sixty and
[21:39] Speaker 1: then Collin Sexton Young Bull two year, nineteen million dollars.
[21:43] Speaker 1: So they did a lot here uh and and maybe
[21:46] Speaker 1: they're not done. Ye know, there's still linked to Jonathan
[21:49] Speaker 1: Kaminga as a possibility. Here TK your thoughts on the
[21:53] Speaker 1: Lakers off season.
[21:54] Speaker 3: I think Rob Polinka wanted to have a chill July fourth,
[21:57] Speaker 3: get it all done. So he did all of his
[21:59] Speaker 3: deals and forty five minutes and we're good to go.
[22:02] Speaker 3: Double overpay for Kesler in my book, too big of
[22:05] Speaker 3: a contract and way too many picks for this guy.
[22:07] Speaker 3: The silver lining. I think he's young, he is a
[22:11] Speaker 3: good player. He fits the exact mold of a guy
[22:13] Speaker 3: that looks good next to Luka Doncic, So I think
[22:16] Speaker 3: Luca can make this contract look okay. From a monetary standpoint, like,
[22:21] Speaker 3: I don't think Kesler has proven it all that he's
[22:23] Speaker 3: worth thirty five million dollars a year but if you're
[22:26] Speaker 3: shooting seventy percent and dunk in every single thing and
[22:28] Speaker 3: being the only guy who plays defense for the Lakers,
[22:30] Speaker 3: you can look like a thirty five million dollar a
[22:33] Speaker 3: year player like Luca made Daniel Gafford look awesome. I
[22:36] Speaker 3: think Kessler is more talented than Gafford is at the
[22:39] Speaker 3: very least. The problem, though, is that they have zero
[22:41] Speaker 3: picks to trade going forward. They literally aren't in control
[22:44] Speaker 3: of a pick until twenty thirty three. They have no
[22:48] Speaker 3: wings on this team. There's very little athleticism on this team.
[22:53] Speaker 3: I don't know if they're better than they were last year.
[22:55] Speaker 3: They just lost their top four in minutes played from
[22:58] Speaker 3: the postseason.
[22:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, they went with not only Walker Kessler, but then
[23:02] Speaker 2: the other guys in Mamu and Quentin Grimes. You're going
[23:05] Speaker 2: to depend a lot on those guys, and as I
[23:07] Speaker 2: name those two, those are probably your starters with Walker Kessler,
[23:11] Speaker 2: Luca and Austin Reeves. Yeah, probably, So you're relying a
[23:15] Speaker 2: lot on them, and you're relying a lot on Walker
[23:18] Speaker 2: Kessler's defense. Quinton Grimes is a really good defender, but
[23:24] Speaker 2: he's smaller and he's going to have to do a
[23:26] Speaker 2: ton for Walker Kessler and Austin Reeves. So you're just
[23:29] Speaker 2: relying on a lot here. We'll see if Walker Kessler
[23:32] Speaker 2: can grow. In those five games he played last year,
[23:35] Speaker 2: he was starting to bomb away from three and not
[23:37] Speaker 2: just corner threes but up top. Not a lot, but
[23:40] Speaker 2: we'll see what he can become. It is a high pay,
[23:43] Speaker 2: both dollars wise and traffics. Yeah, Lakers can't do anything
[23:46] Speaker 2: now and now they've got four hundred and eighty million
[23:48] Speaker 2: committed over the next three years to Luca, Austin Reeves,
[23:51] Speaker 2: and Walker Kessler. That's a lot of money for a
[23:53] Speaker 2: guy who hasn't showed it in this league.
[23:55] Speaker 1: So yeah, I think it's like you hate, you hate
[24:00] Speaker 1: that both had to happen if you're a Lakers fan,
[24:03] Speaker 1: the picks to get the Kessler sign trade and then
[24:05] Speaker 1: obviously the deal itself. If it is one of the other,
[24:08] Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, that maybe makes sense. You can stomach
[24:10] Speaker 1: it easier. It's the both. He'd better be obviously awesome
[24:12] Speaker 1: when he's young and why not, and he'll probably look
[24:14] Speaker 1: great next to Luca. He's got a play too. It
[24:17] Speaker 1: has been health concerns with him now some of that
[24:19] Speaker 1: then spun into straight up tanking. I think on the
[24:22] Speaker 1: jazz and slow play that. So hopefully he gets back
[24:26] Speaker 1: to being healthy and should contribute, but some bold moves.
[24:29] Speaker 1: We'll talk more about the Lakers a little bit later.
[24:31] Speaker 1: Tarry Eason, he got it done. He's sticking with the
[24:34] Speaker 1: Houston Rockets. Agreed to a five year, eighty one point
[24:37] Speaker 1: five million dollars deal, returning to Houston, fully guaranteed tray
[24:41] Speaker 1: player option in the fifth year, ten percent trade kicker.
[24:44] Speaker 1: A great deal for the Rockets. Apparently they offered Tarry
[24:47] Speaker 1: Easton one hundred million dollars before the season started. He
[24:50] Speaker 1: bet on himself, turned it down, and now he's getting
[24:53] Speaker 1: eighty one and a half million. I suppose this silver
[24:56] Speaker 1: lining for him is that more guaranteed money than in
[24:59] Speaker 1: the one day offered him back in October. But I
[25:03] Speaker 1: know that one hundred is bigger than eighty one point five,
[25:05] Speaker 1: So he's got to be a little bit disappointed, which
[25:07] Speaker 1: is why he tweeted.
[25:08] Speaker 3: After signing this extension. I guess bruh, yeah, I know
[25:12] Speaker 3: exactly the sort of mindset you want going in to
[25:14] Speaker 3: a season. Feels like a Houston Rocket to me, they're
[25:16] Speaker 3: hoping for a bounce back because weird season for Tarry Easton.
[25:20] Speaker 3: He shot forty eight point six percent from three in
[25:22] Speaker 3: calendar year twenty twenty five. Yeah, and then he shot
[25:24] Speaker 3: thirty percent from three in calendar year twenty twenty six.
[25:27] Speaker 3: As he's seeing his money just burn on the calendar.
[25:31] Speaker 3: He plays defense, he rebounds, he's got great energy. If
[25:35] Speaker 3: it's the right month, he's going to make the open
[25:37] Speaker 3: three pointer. He's a good player. And this is a
[25:39] Speaker 3: great deal for Houston to get him for less than
[25:41] Speaker 3: Patrick Williams' money.
[25:44] Speaker 1: If you get signed for les than Patrick Williams, it's
[25:46] Speaker 1: a good deal. That's a great I way to put it. Yeah,
[25:48] Speaker 1: this was this was his money slowly burning, like you said,
[25:51] Speaker 1: over the twenty twenty six NBA season when he couldn't
[25:54] Speaker 1: hit a shot and he just went ice cold. Where
[25:56] Speaker 1: Jayalen Duran maybe he just burned his money a lot quicker.
[25:59] Speaker 1: It was rapid there in the postseason. We're still waiting
[26:01] Speaker 1: on him. Thoughts on Easton though.
[26:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, worth every penny in comparison Jabari Smith on that team,
[26:08] Speaker 2: seems like he gets paid too much. Will he take
[26:11] Speaker 2: a step up with Fred van Vliet coming back, Will
[26:14] Speaker 2: Jabari Smith benefit well Tarry Eisen as well become a
[26:18] Speaker 2: three point shooter behind him, and those are the questions.
[26:21] Speaker 2: And you look at Houston there running back the same
[26:23] Speaker 2: team essentially with a healthy Fred van Vliet. They would
[26:26] Speaker 2: love to added Marcus Smart. Ad Marcus Smart, They'll love
[26:29] Speaker 2: they would love to get rid of Dorian Finney Smith. Unfortunately,
[26:31] Speaker 2: Dorian not looking like the same player he once was.
[26:34] Speaker 2: So there's that contract. Hopefully Jabari can play better and
[26:36] Speaker 2: Tarisen can play better. They needed to happen internally.
[26:39] Speaker 3: Really, I think the thing I like, if you're comparing
[26:41] Speaker 3: Jabari versus Tari, Jabari Smith knows who he is as
[26:44] Speaker 3: a player. He's like a switchable defender, corner three point shooter,
[26:48] Speaker 3: maybe something in the mid range. That's what Tari Easton
[26:51] Speaker 3: should be as well. But Tari Easton thinks he has
[26:54] Speaker 3: an off the dribble game, and I don't really think
[26:55] Speaker 3: he does. He makes some pretty bad decisions driving into
[26:57] Speaker 3: traffic and just putting his head down and trying to
[26:59] Speaker 3: run over people.
[27:00] Speaker 1: So that's the difference to me between those two guys. Yeah,
[27:03] Speaker 1: I am with you though, they're really just like and
[27:05] Speaker 1: maybe it's the why strategy It's like we think we
[27:08] Speaker 1: have something here in the Houston Rockets, Like we just
[27:10] Speaker 1: need a real floor general and leader in Fred van
[27:13] Speaker 1: Vleet to steady everything. And if he was there last year,
[27:16] Speaker 1: maybe it goes differently. And I think that's yeah, a
[27:18] Speaker 1: big thinking here of their offseason.
[27:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, and Smart is the insurance if Fred yeah isn't right.
[27:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, maybe the Lakers will miss Marcus Smart.
[27:26] Speaker 1: Kelly Hubray Junior agreed to a two year, nearly seventeen
[27:29] Speaker 1: million dollar deal with the Pacers, as we sort of anticipated,
[27:33] Speaker 1: Tobias Harris agreed to a two year, thirty one million
[27:36] Speaker 1: dollar deal with the Spurs, and the MAVs acquired Santiel
[27:39] Speaker 1: Dama from the Grizzlies for a J. Johnson and future picks.
[27:41] Speaker 1: Those were some of the more notable transactions here, Trey,
[27:45] Speaker 1: any thoughts on any of those three?
[27:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, the Spurs needed a big forward who can shoot.
[27:50] Speaker 3: Tobias Harrison technically that guy.
[27:52] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[27:52] Speaker 3: There are some players I would have liked more for
[27:54] Speaker 3: this Spurs team. Ruy Hachimura, Mamu maybe making a return there.
[27:58] Speaker 3: John Collins I think would have it as potentially a starter,
[28:03] Speaker 3: maybe a backup four as well, they're all younger, and
[28:05] Speaker 3: Toby's on a pretty short contract here. He's basically replacing
[28:08] Speaker 3: Lindy Waters, So you can't get too mad at this one.
[28:10] Speaker 3: Keeps the books clean. They're going to be expensive in
[28:13] Speaker 3: the future, and realistically, most of the improvement for San
[28:16] Speaker 3: Antonio comes from their young guys getting better. So having
[28:20] Speaker 3: Tobias Harris ain't gonna hurt this team.
[28:21] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And he can play positionally if they want
[28:24] Speaker 2: to go a little taller at the four, because Champagney
[28:27] Speaker 2: isn't that big. And I know people question it Tobias
[28:30] Speaker 2: Harris can't play defense. That ain't true. He can, and
[28:32] Speaker 2: he was part of Good Piston's defense. He can be
[28:34] Speaker 2: that guy, just to be that rock if they need
[28:37] Speaker 2: him to fire away. Now he's not an above the
[28:39] Speaker 2: break three guys. That's a little odd because Champagney is
[28:42] Speaker 2: really good at that. So that will be a decision.
[28:46] Speaker 2: I mean, it's really you get now a decision between
[28:48] Speaker 2: if you're Mitch Johnson, who's bringing on Billy Donovan apparently
[28:53] Speaker 2: beside him to get it right, Yeah, to bring it
[28:56] Speaker 2: back to have a vet beside him, an older coach.
[29:01] Speaker 2: I think that's a nice nice decision, Nice opportunity for
[29:05] Speaker 2: Mitch Johnson. We're going bigger and older or are we
[29:08] Speaker 2: going a little bit younger and smaller out there? Otherwise?
[29:12] Speaker 2: Ouh break great. Santiel Damo will see what we can
[29:14] Speaker 2: do with the MAVs. But the Grizzlies obviously new direction,
[29:17] Speaker 2: getting younger. We've got a protective pick for Santiell Domo.
[29:20] Speaker 2: They're just moving on.
[29:21] Speaker 3: Really, let me ask you about Billy Donovan.
[29:23] Speaker 1: Is it weird?
[29:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, but they're hiring a guy who is literally a
[29:27] Speaker 3: Hall of Fame coach. Does this mean they don't trust
[29:29] Speaker 3: mister Johnson anytime the rubber hit the road for San Antonio?
[29:33] Speaker 3: We heard a story about Greg Popovich coming in and
[29:36] Speaker 3: whipping the troops. True, and now they're like, actually, you know,
[29:39] Speaker 3: you could use an experienced second in charge here. I
[29:43] Speaker 3: wonder how much longer Mitch Johnson's going to stay the
[29:46] Speaker 3: guy for San Antonio. That just this was strange to me.
[29:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's more just old guy, have him
[29:52] Speaker 2: beside him. I know we all question, we question everything
[29:55] Speaker 2: about the Spurts, Like, ah, they go, they're going to
[29:58] Speaker 2: do something here, Tobias, Why would they need him?
[30:02] Speaker 3: Oh?
[30:02] Speaker 2: I think is just the old guy beside him. I
[30:04] Speaker 2: think that's all it is. I think they do trust
[30:06] Speaker 2: Mitch to get it done.
[30:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the perfect plan is he's there to
[30:11] Speaker 1: help him. But I hear what you're saying, TK, It's like,
[30:13] Speaker 1: if the mistakes keep piling up or whatever confidence is
[30:16] Speaker 1: lost in Miss Johnson, then it's then a hiring like this.
[30:20] Speaker 1: Generally what happens is by and he slides over, especially
[30:23] Speaker 1: as a respected and veteran coach. So you know, I
[30:27] Speaker 1: think they want the first part. They're like, oh, just
[30:29] Speaker 1: having another voice in the room, seeing the game a
[30:31] Speaker 1: little differently, helping us out there to help Miss Johnson
[30:33] Speaker 1: out and Pop can obviously stay up in the suite. Yeah,
[30:37] Speaker 1: perfect world, but you never know. Minor deals for you
[30:40] Speaker 1: a whole bunch. Okay, just buckle up here for a second.
[30:43] Speaker 1: Kenrich Williams, Kenny Hustle staying with the Thunder one year
[30:46] Speaker 1: five million dollar deal. Raptors signed mister and Kyle Anderson
[30:52] Speaker 1: and Elijah Martin. Javonte Green is returning to the Pistons,
[30:56] Speaker 1: Tias Jones and Marvin Bagley. The third go into the
[30:58] Speaker 1: Nuggets day que plowed and our guy who saw here
[31:03] Speaker 1: play for the College Park Skyhawks and played for the Hawks.
[31:06] Speaker 1: He returns to the Kings on a two year, five
[31:08] Speaker 1: point one million dollar deal. Tass's guyd Anthony Melton returning
[31:12] Speaker 1: to the Warriors two years eleven million, Jonathan Isaac and
[31:16] Speaker 1: Javon Carter returning to the Magic on one year deals.
[31:18] Speaker 1: Jackson Hayes two years twelve million dollar deal with the
[31:22] Speaker 1: Utah Jazz, and Pat Spencer agreed to a two way
[31:26] Speaker 1: contract with the Suns. So those are some of the
[31:27] Speaker 1: more smaller transactions than he wanted to address.
[31:30] Speaker 2: Pat Spencer couldn't get guaranteed money. A little surprised by that.
[31:35] Speaker 2: It was good. He's more than just a lacrosse player.
[31:38] Speaker 2: I thought he would get guaranteed money. Mentioned some of
[31:40] Speaker 2: the guys like Daiquon Plowd and getting guaranteed money. I
[31:42] Speaker 2: thought he would. I'm a little surprised by that. Kyle Anderson, hey,
[31:46] Speaker 2: Kawhi's former teammate, get him in there, just like Minnesota
[31:49] Speaker 2: acquired him at the trade deadline. That's they got Kyle
[31:52] Speaker 2: Anderson to just be that ve be around, be that
[31:55] Speaker 2: former player, just to be that old guy around. So
[31:58] Speaker 2: it's just one of those things that the wrapped.
[32:00] Speaker 1: I don't I don't love it, and I don't mind
[32:01] Speaker 1: Colin Anderson's game, but we need the Raptors need some shooting.
[32:04] Speaker 1: I think Kyle Anderson is not giving us shooting, but
[32:08] Speaker 1: he's probably locker room vibes his time. He's a connector
[32:11] Speaker 1: tough guy to Yeah, we'll see how he.
[32:15] Speaker 2: How he pans out shooting wise, I didn't even I
[32:18] Speaker 2: don't even think about him on the floor at all.
[32:20] Speaker 2: I think more of as a locker room guy. But
[32:23] Speaker 2: but then you question, you know, the health of quiet guys,
[32:28] Speaker 2: and if they're gonna require minutes of Kyle Anderson, that's possiblity.
[32:31] Speaker 2: He is he their backup center, their backups well c
[32:35] Speaker 2: m B is their backup center, calling Mary Boyles. Yeah,
[32:39] Speaker 2: he's their guy.
[32:41] Speaker 1: They could use a big guy. Yeah, yeah, they don't
[32:44] Speaker 1: have a lot of money to play with.
[32:46] Speaker 2: Orlando Orlando Robinson is that his name. That's a guy
[32:50] Speaker 2: that a former that they added.
[32:52] Speaker 1: You know where Orlando is in the state of Florida.
[32:56] Speaker 2: I always forget Orlando. It's in the middle, you can, Yeah,
[33:00] Speaker 2: it's definitely.
[33:01] Speaker 1: It's still creepy far from Atlanta. Yeah, like a ten
[33:05] Speaker 1: hour drive still from somehow from here, just like one
[33:07] Speaker 1: stayed over. How's that possible?
[33:09] Speaker 2: It is far.
[33:09] Speaker 3: It's very surprisingly far, very muggy.
[33:12] Speaker 1: We talked about this before. Can't you drive like quicker
[33:14] Speaker 1: to Chicago than you can to Orlando? Definitely not having
[33:19] Speaker 1: driven to both, you can't do it to Orlando, but
[33:21] Speaker 1: it is far.
[33:22] Speaker 2: Anyway, Marvin Bagley joined the Nuggets. That's interesting. Give him
[33:25] Speaker 2: a shot, I suppose, But I think Dallas is indicating
[33:30] Speaker 2: we got Gafford, maybe Derek Lively will we return one day?
[33:34] Speaker 2: Plus Cooper Fly plays big. You don't really need Marvin Bagley, well,
[33:39] Speaker 2: so you give him a shut. It's an interest. Denver
[33:41] Speaker 2: is a whole interesting thing. What's going on? Jamal Murray
[33:45] Speaker 2: showing up to watch Nikola Jokic playing qualifiers? That's cool,
[33:50] Speaker 2: they're buds. But what's happening behind? What's happening with Peyton Watson?
[33:53] Speaker 2: What's happening as far as you know, Gordon and Johnson
[33:56] Speaker 2: and Big Questions, Big Questions?
[34:00] Speaker 3: The genus is done?
[34:01] Speaker 2: Looks like it? Oh yeah, it looks like he's gone.
[34:03] Speaker 2: Looks like they're giving up on that, yeah, and going
[34:07] Speaker 2: to Martin Bagley instead of all those names.
[34:10] Speaker 1: I chucked at ye Trey, like any excite you or
[34:13] Speaker 1: will of that bunch of names, like who will have
[34:16] Speaker 1: the biggest impact in twenty six twenty seven? If you
[34:19] Speaker 1: had to take a guess, it's tough.
[34:22] Speaker 3: I think Jackson Hayes plays the most minutes.
[34:25] Speaker 1: They got a lot of big guys in Utah, but
[34:27] Speaker 1: you're probably right. I got Nurkic back. Yeah, obviously have
[34:31] Speaker 1: Jaron Jackson Junior and Larry Markinen not a center, but
[34:33] Speaker 1: a big guy. And then now Jackson Hayes. Okay, of
[34:36] Speaker 1: all those guys that I threw at you, maybe there's
[34:38] Speaker 1: an opportunity he is in Utah. It's funny, weird in
[34:43] Speaker 1: a Utah Jersey. I think I was happy to see
[34:46] Speaker 1: Kenny hustle here at least stick around with the thun yeh,
[34:48] Speaker 1: because we weren't sure how that was going to work.
[34:50] Speaker 1: So he's still on a very very good team, chance
[34:53] Speaker 1: for another title. All right, let's take a break. When
[34:56] Speaker 1: we come back, we'll actually do the winners and losers
[34:58] Speaker 1: of NBA free agency.
[35:01] Speaker 2: When it comes to the World Cup, I heard USA
[35:03] Speaker 2: is going to beat Belgium. Landon Donovan told me that,
[35:07] Speaker 2: Oh wow, I'm biased. I went into the quarter finals,
[35:11] Speaker 2: would be the furthest that the US has ever gone
[35:14] Speaker 2: in the modern era for them, they got further ninety
[35:17] Speaker 2: six years ago though nineteen thirty. Yeah, that's a great one.
[35:22] Speaker 2: But toler and Belligan not playing iculous of that red card?
[35:27] Speaker 1: That was ridiculous.
[35:29] Speaker 2: Didn't like the red card call on that? No, I
[35:32] Speaker 2: agree either did the former players calling it out. Obviously,
[35:37] Speaker 2: it looks like a kick when you do a slow mo,
[35:40] Speaker 2: it looks like he's uns Yeah, it didn't look like
[35:42] Speaker 2: I hurt though.
[35:43] Speaker 3: Oh yeah yeah yeah, getting your ankle stepped on as
[35:46] Speaker 3: you're spraining your ankle, Yeah, that suck.
[35:48] Speaker 1: But it didn't matter.
[35:49] Speaker 3: Because the USA scored another goal with one man down.
[35:52] Speaker 2: That was cool.
[35:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, that was awesome.
[35:53] Speaker 2: What a free kick Canada taking on Morocco. This is
[35:56] Speaker 2: the biggest stage in world soccer. Man, this is just
[35:59] Speaker 2: fun right now. We had Portugal Croatia. Yes, it happened
[36:02] Speaker 2: in Toronto. It'scotty Barnes taking it in.
[36:06] Speaker 1: Was there?
[36:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I wasn't gonna mention that, but yeah he was.
[36:09] Speaker 2: He was.
[36:11] Speaker 1: He was there too.
[36:11] Speaker 2: I think, okay, I think so, uh, this is the
[36:14] Speaker 2: biggest stage and now FanDuel is giving you a reason
[36:16] Speaker 2: to root for every single goal, introducing every goal pays.
[36:19] Speaker 2: Bet on a match and get bonus bets for every
[36:21] Speaker 2: goal scored in that match. That's right. More goals means
[36:23] Speaker 2: more bonus bets, and all you have to do is
[36:26] Speaker 2: turn on your token. Let there be goals on fandel.
[36:31] Speaker 1: We got excuse me, Australia Egyptay, that's the first game
[36:36] Speaker 1: at two pm. This thing is bouncing around like crazy.
[36:40] Speaker 1: Argentina Cape Verde and then Colombia Ghana tonight. It's three
[36:45] Speaker 1: entertaining games. We'll see, we'll see, We'll see you. Where
[36:47] Speaker 1: are these playing? Dallas, Miami, Kansas City. A couple of
[36:50] Speaker 1: something for you here.
[36:51] Speaker 3: If you put a most Sala and Lionel Messy to
[36:54] Speaker 3: both both score a goal today plus two eighty five
[36:57] Speaker 3: plus every goal pays, can you can book Messi?
[37:01] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[37:01] Speaker 3: You call it that unstoppable?
[37:02] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[37:03] Speaker 1: No, fair, fair, fair fair, Oh they got that, Kate
[37:05] Speaker 1: Verdie's got the old GOALKEEPI head right now. Let's you
[37:09] Speaker 1: can still do it at Shock the world though it
[37:11] Speaker 1: would be big. All right, Let's get into NBA free agency.
[37:14] Speaker 1: Winners and losers. Start with winners, obviously, We've talked a
[37:17] Speaker 1: lot about these teams and these transactions and sort of
[37:19] Speaker 1: tipped our hands in a lot of cases whether they
[37:21] Speaker 1: were winners or losers. But TK, where are you going?
[37:23] Speaker 1: It's a big winner for you.
[37:24] Speaker 3: For me, it's the Portland Trail Blazers. I know what
[37:27] Speaker 3: you're thinking. What did they do in free agency? Actually
[37:30] Speaker 3: I didn't sign anybody, but they traded for Jah Morant,
[37:33] Speaker 3: and that, to me is my single favorite move that happened.
[37:35] Speaker 3: It cost them Jeremy Grant's contract same years as John Morant.
[37:39] Speaker 3: It's going to cost the Blazers sixteen million more dollars,
[37:42] Speaker 3: but they get a look at a star guard on
[37:44] Speaker 3: a contract that can be reasonable. If Jah's able to
[37:47] Speaker 3: stay healthy. He doesn't have to get back to MVP
[37:50] Speaker 3: candidate John Morant. He just needs to be good player. Jamorant.
[37:53] Speaker 3: He's only twenty five percent of the cap. This was
[37:56] Speaker 3: his first big deal, not his Jalen Brown deal, you know,
[37:59] Speaker 3: the three hundred million dollar one. It can be reasonable.
[38:03] Speaker 3: He's the best talent that Portland has had in five seasons,
[38:06] Speaker 3: basically since Dame Lillard was in his prime. They're not
[38:09] Speaker 3: building around any of their other point guards. It's not
[38:11] Speaker 3: going to be thirty six year old Dame. It's not
[38:13] Speaker 3: going to be thirty five year old Drew Holliday. It's
[38:15] Speaker 3: not gonna be scooted. Sorry, the ship has passed. They
[38:17] Speaker 3: might be able to build around Jahmrant though I agree
[38:20] Speaker 3: the team does not make sense at this point, but
[38:23] Speaker 3: their position to improve. They can make trades, They can
[38:25] Speaker 3: try and pounce on the next big name. We thought
[38:27] Speaker 3: they would be in the Jalen Brown sweepstakes. Apparently not.
[38:29] Speaker 3: They want to keep their powder dry, and they did
[38:31] Speaker 3: a good job of that by not putting any picks
[38:33] Speaker 3: in this trade, including the Bucks picks that they control
[38:36] Speaker 3: in twenty eight, twenty nine, and thirty. Those are blue
[38:39] Speaker 3: chip picks at this point. So the Blazers, I think
[38:42] Speaker 3: they got better this offseason, and they really positioned themselves
[38:46] Speaker 3: to get a lot better if a big name comes available.
[38:49] Speaker 1: They did have one free agent signing. I just remembered
[38:52] Speaker 1: Brandon Carlson they did get. They agreed to a one
[38:56] Speaker 1: year deal with him and then re signed time Lord. Yeah,
[38:58] Speaker 1: the big cheez Johmoran is the big move here.
[39:00] Speaker 2: Yeah. I wonder what their ceiling is. I mean, you
[39:04] Speaker 2: look at their basketball roster. Of course, tons of questions
[39:08] Speaker 2: what they're going to do there, But you start to
[39:10] Speaker 2: look at John Rant and say, hey, he's planning for
[39:11] Speaker 2: his NBA career. Maybe he can play better. But on
[39:14] Speaker 2: the floor, you know, him and Damian Lillard, who's come
[39:17] Speaker 2: back from an achilles injury, aren't going to stop anybody
[39:19] Speaker 2: as a point of attack defenders, So there's going to
[39:22] Speaker 2: be a lot more on Kamara and Danny Avde, who
[39:25] Speaker 2: I think is going to show that he's a great defender,
[39:26] Speaker 2: but also Abdy on the other end, is going to
[39:28] Speaker 2: be very different, not taking the ball up top every
[39:31] Speaker 2: single time and just saying, hey, it's my possession and
[39:34] Speaker 2: going at him. So that's different. We will see if
[39:38] Speaker 2: they're at a five hundred level. Is that I mean
[39:41] Speaker 2: that's the they were last year. Yeah, I mean I
[39:45] Speaker 2: hope they're that at least, it doesn't feel like they're
[39:47] Speaker 2: much better than that. But we'll see John Morant already
[39:49] Speaker 2: meeting with Mike and Norri already buying in.
[39:51] Speaker 1: I'm excited number one for jobs. He switched up his number,
[39:55] Speaker 1: yeah twelve to number one.
[39:56] Speaker 2: It's playing for his career, that's for sure. That's clear.
[39:59] Speaker 1: It feels like it all right, Portland. I like that
[40:01] Speaker 1: as a winner. Where are you going?
[40:03] Speaker 2: I'm going through you, Tod Jess. I think there are
[40:05] Speaker 2: two timelines are set up pretty nice here now and
[40:07] Speaker 2: the future because they turned Walker Kessler into some gold
[40:12] Speaker 2: in those two Lakers unprotected draft picks, and they're bigs
[40:19] Speaker 2: without Walker Kessler makes sense, and it makes sense that
[40:22] Speaker 2: they moved on from him, even though he's a talented guy,
[40:24] Speaker 2: because they've got Triple J and Nurkic and Larry markin
[40:27] Speaker 2: and now Jackson Hayes as well coming into the draft.
[40:32] Speaker 2: Let's take a step back. They felt good getting the
[40:34] Speaker 2: number two pick after three straight years of ten, nine
[40:38] Speaker 2: and five as their draft picks, even though they're trying
[40:40] Speaker 2: to be bad in a lot of those instances. And
[40:42] Speaker 2: so then they get Darren Peterson, who arguably could have
[40:46] Speaker 2: gone number one. So the future is looking good to
[40:50] Speaker 2: attach him, you know, combine him with Conte George and
[40:54] Speaker 2: with Ace Bailey, and you can see if they're down
[40:57] Speaker 2: the roster, guys, they're young guys can help out a
[41:00] Speaker 2: little bit more in Cody Williams, embrace Sensaba and you're Flipowski.
[41:04] Speaker 2: But overall, the two timelines are set up pretty nice
[41:07] Speaker 2: here thanks to Rob Polenka that we'll get to a
[41:10] Speaker 2: little bit later. But it looks it looks good. It
[41:13] Speaker 2: looks a lot better than it did four months ago
[41:15] Speaker 2: when everyone was criticizing them of tanking. It looks, it
[41:19] Speaker 2: looks good, It looks really good.
[41:21] Speaker 1: Where do you see them in? Obviously a crowded right,
[41:23] Speaker 1: I mean, they went twenty two and sixty last year,
[41:26] Speaker 1: and now if all these guys play and are healthy,
[41:29] Speaker 1: it's this interesting looking lineup. Obviously there's some youth there,
[41:32] Speaker 1: but like, what are they hoping for? I guess the
[41:35] Speaker 1: better way to look at what's a very successful season
[41:37] Speaker 1: till Utah Jazz in twenty six to twenty seven realistic.
[41:41] Speaker 3: I think, realistically they want to challenge for the play
[41:44] Speaker 3: in Tournament, which last year the Warriors were the tenth seed.
[41:47] Speaker 3: They had thirty seven wins. That is a crazy low number. Yeah,
[41:51] Speaker 3: I mean in the Eastern Conference it was forty three
[41:52] Speaker 3: wins for the Heat. I don't necessarily think that Utah
[41:55] Speaker 3: can double their win total from last year, but they
[41:58] Speaker 3: should be ten wins better just by playing their guys
[42:01] Speaker 3: for an entire season.
[42:02] Speaker 1: Yep.
[42:03] Speaker 3: And there's no like they don't have an incentive to
[42:06] Speaker 3: be bad again this year, right, They traded their top
[42:08] Speaker 3: to Memphis, and they wouldn't have been able to pick
[42:10] Speaker 3: in the top five again anyways because of the new
[42:13] Speaker 3: lottery rules. So I guess for them, they're probably just hoping,
[42:17] Speaker 3: let's finish twentieth. Let's finish twenty first. That'd be a
[42:21] Speaker 3: great season for Utah. There's optimism there now, I think.
[42:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of pressure on their guards. Aside
[42:30] Speaker 2: from the bags of market in Triple J, there is
[42:33] Speaker 2: pressure now in Kiante George to be good and to
[42:36] Speaker 2: run a whatever it is, a playing team, a five
[42:39] Speaker 2: hundred team. They've got hopes, so they should have hopes.
[42:42] Speaker 2: But you know, everybody's meeting and being buddies with their
[42:45] Speaker 2: head coach, and Will Hardy is gonna tap into County George,
[42:48] Speaker 2: I think hopefully as a leader, well, we shall see.
[42:51] Speaker 2: The roster is good enough to battle with the Portland Trailblazers.
[42:55] Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna zoom out for my NBA free
[42:58] Speaker 1: agency winner here. And you sort of alluded to a
[43:01] Speaker 1: task the Eastern Conference. Eastern Conference sikos must be pumped.
[43:06] Speaker 1: You think there's anybody with an Eastern Conference tattoo on
[43:09] Speaker 1: their body. Yeah, yeah, I've gotta be somebody. Well, they're
[43:11] Speaker 1: pumped right now because look at all the moves that
[43:15] Speaker 1: have gone down here. The New York Knicks, first off,
[43:18] Speaker 1: should be still the class of the Eastern Conference. They're
[43:22] Speaker 1: basically running back their championship squad minus one Mitchell Robinson
[43:26] Speaker 1: and his giant ass truck. Okay, so there is that,
[43:28] Speaker 1: but otherwise, you know, all their main pieces are there.
[43:31] Speaker 1: The Celtics, I'm with you, TK, despite losing Jalen Brown
[43:35] Speaker 1: and how awkward that got, They're still probably gonna win
[43:38] Speaker 1: a lot of regular season games at the very least.
[43:40] Speaker 1: Maybe they falter in the postseason, but should be still
[43:45] Speaker 1: around I think the top of the standings with their
[43:47] Speaker 1: squad and how they play. The Sixers upgraded Paul George
[43:50] Speaker 1: for Jalen Brown, and they're going to be goddamn dynamite
[43:53] Speaker 1: if Joelle Embiid can like play I don't know, fifty
[43:56] Speaker 1: sixty games, whatever it is. The Raptors upgraded Brandon Ingram
[44:00] Speaker 1: to Kawhi Leonard. They were already a top five defense,
[44:03] Speaker 1: so that's a nice addition. The Heat added giannis I
[44:06] Speaker 1: love that we barely even think about that might be
[44:08] Speaker 1: heat right now. They did it too soon, then all
[44:10] Speaker 1: this other stuff happened. But you know, that's a different
[44:12] Speaker 1: squad with Giannis if healthy. The Pistons are coming off
[44:15] Speaker 1: a sixty win season. I know we'll dissect them here
[44:18] Speaker 1: in a little bit. I don't think it's been a
[44:19] Speaker 1: great offseason for them, but we're a good team.
[44:23] Speaker 2: They were.
[44:23] Speaker 1: You know, we'll see what the drop off is if
[44:26] Speaker 1: any The Calves made it to the conference finals last year.
[44:28] Speaker 1: I think they still think of themselves as a contender.
[44:32] Speaker 1: They might get Lebron too. They might get Lebron. The
[44:35] Speaker 1: Orlando Magic do have a talented roster. They're going to
[44:37] Speaker 1: get the new coach bump that generally helps a lot
[44:40] Speaker 1: of teams, and Shawn Sweeney coming in there. The Hawks
[44:43] Speaker 1: were on fire to end last season. We'll see if
[44:46] Speaker 1: it carries over. They didn't do a lot of huge moves,
[44:49] Speaker 1: didn't take any like big risks so far here in
[44:51] Speaker 1: the offseason. But maybe that's okay. Maybe they signed Tim Bontems.
[44:54] Speaker 2: That'd be exciting.
[44:55] Speaker 1: That is a nice addition if you get timmy good
[44:58] Speaker 1: times in there, so they could be good I'm not done.
[45:00] Speaker 1: The Pacers get Tyrese Haliburton back. You know, how much
[45:04] Speaker 1: will they recover to their twenty twenty five Eastern Conference title.
[45:09] Speaker 1: So I think that's ten teams I just gave you.
[45:12] Speaker 1: Haven't even mentioned the Hornets. They trade LaMelo still decent
[45:16] Speaker 1: squad though, Ca Nipple, Brandon Miller sort of given the
[45:19] Speaker 1: keys to them. The Wizards, I mean, I don't know,
[45:22] Speaker 1: I have no idea what the Wizards, but definitely should
[45:24] Speaker 1: be better than they were. There's a lot of squads here,
[45:28] Speaker 1: you know, and then you know, there's the Bulls, there's
[45:30] Speaker 1: the Bucks, there's the Nets. Okay, they're probably probably the
[45:34] Speaker 1: three worst teams in whatever order, maybe at the bottom
[45:37] Speaker 1: there wherever you feel about the Wizard and Hornets too,
[45:39] Speaker 1: But ten teams there's loaded. Man, These are huge, huge
[45:44] Speaker 1: moves that a lot of these teams made. Or the Sixers,
[45:47] Speaker 1: the Raptors and the Heat.
[45:49] Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, more stacked than the West, that's
[45:53] Speaker 2: what Summer saying, which seems weird.
[45:55] Speaker 3: Well, I mean they had they had a better season
[45:56] Speaker 3: last year too.
[45:57] Speaker 2: They did at the top ten, yeah, at the top.
[46:00] Speaker 1: Ten and the champion and they won the damn hole.
[46:02] Speaker 3: Who made the best move in the east. Joannis Chohir
[46:05] Speaker 3: Jalen is what it comes down.
[46:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, man, you know, you know Jalen' is gonna play
[46:13] Speaker 2: mm hmm, that's true.
[46:17] Speaker 1: Is the best of these three. So but yeah, obviously
[46:20] Speaker 1: questions these are all three. I mean, this is what's
[46:24] Speaker 1: exciting about it, and all three of these teams are
[46:26] Speaker 1: like completely like going for it really here sort of
[46:29] Speaker 1: in the immediate future too. Now the heater already doing
[46:32] Speaker 1: the whole thing, like not this year, Yeah, right, and
[46:35] Speaker 1: that's fine, that's fine, Like it may be the following year.
[46:38] Speaker 2: Uh.
[46:38] Speaker 1: Still, they're gonna be obviously a different team with Jannis
[46:40] Speaker 1: and Bam there as your two main guys. But yeah,
[46:44] Speaker 1: I think I think ultimately hmmm, I think my answer
[46:49] Speaker 1: is the heat with gianness they get. And again it's
[46:53] Speaker 1: like sort of because you know, it's always like, oh,
[46:55] Speaker 1: what's the latest thing, what's the latest thing? It's like
[46:57] Speaker 1: already on the back burner here, but they did get them.
[47:00] Speaker 2: He's gonna be awesome.
[47:03] Speaker 3: How about this package? Wise, things were about the same
[47:05] Speaker 3: for Kawhi Leonard and Jalen Brown. As Raptors fans, who
[47:09] Speaker 3: would you rather have.
[47:11] Speaker 1: Jalen? Yeah?
[47:13] Speaker 3: And I know, I mean, you're you're talking about three
[47:15] Speaker 3: seasons with both of them guaranteed, you would have to
[47:18] Speaker 3: pay Jalen probably at the end of that third season,
[47:20] Speaker 3: whereas Kawhi you have to pay him right away.
[47:22] Speaker 1: Yeah. I guess A counter to what I just said, though,
[47:26] Speaker 1: is Kawhi is a better shooter. Yes, he's a much
[47:28] Speaker 1: better shooter.
[47:29] Speaker 3: He's a better player at his peak for sure.
[47:31] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[47:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, he's thirty five though, yep, thirty five. And
[47:34] Speaker 1: of course we feel more confident Jalen Brown playing closer
[47:37] Speaker 1: to the seventy five games than any Kawhi Leonard season.
[47:40] Speaker 1: But in a but then again, in a playoff series,
[47:45] Speaker 1: that becomes a different question. If you're like, Okay, you
[47:47] Speaker 1: can pick one of these two guys to help you
[47:48] Speaker 1: win a seven game series, I'm probably going Kawhi. I
[47:52] Speaker 1: am going Kawhi.
[47:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, he hasn't won a series in five years.
[47:55] Speaker 1: I know he hasn't. He hasn't, but.
[47:58] Speaker 2: I mean he didn't have a Scottie Barne beside him.
[48:01] Speaker 3: Yeah, he also didn't play a lot of them.
[48:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's a great question, like could they have
[48:07] Speaker 1: gotten Jail and Brown for the exact deal they gave
[48:10] Speaker 1: up to get QUI.
[48:13] Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know Ingram doesn't seem like a
[48:16] Speaker 3: Celtics player to me.
[48:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, right right right right in Boston. You know a
[48:25] Speaker 1: white guy who chucks threes. It's perfect greedy dick to
[48:28] Speaker 1: the Lakers.
[48:28] Speaker 2: Baby tres Chez taken over in La Baby All right?
[48:33] Speaker 1: So yeah, Eastern Conference icos big winner here. Let's do losers, Trey,
[48:37] Speaker 1: where are you going?
[48:38] Speaker 3: I got the Detroit Pistons as a loser. Just back
[48:41] Speaker 3: to back underwhelming transactions in transaction cycles. For me, my
[48:45] Speaker 3: favorite move they made this offseason is Isaiah Joe for
[48:48] Speaker 3: two second rounders. That seems good. They needed shooting. They
[48:52] Speaker 3: also needed ball handling and somebody to be a secondary creator,
[48:54] Speaker 3: which dates back to the trade deadline in February. I
[48:58] Speaker 3: think Tobias Harris to John Collins is like a lateral move.
[49:01] Speaker 3: They traded Beef stew for nothing, so essentially, Isaiah Stewart
[49:06] Speaker 3: and Tobias Harris, two very important players to the Pistons
[49:08] Speaker 3: last year, became John Collins, Isaiah Joe and some second
[49:12] Speaker 3: round draft picks. The Herder thing is just a contract play.
[49:15] Speaker 3: It feels like there could be lingering tensions with regards
[49:19] Speaker 3: to Jalen Duran at the very least, I don't think
[49:21] Speaker 3: the Pistons got better this offseason, and Skeetzy just ran
[49:24] Speaker 3: through every team in the Eastern Conference for the most part,
[49:26] Speaker 3: got better.
[49:27] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[49:28] Speaker 3: So for me, I'm looking like, what are the Pistons doing.
[49:32] Speaker 3: Part of it is I think they're worried that they're
[49:33] Speaker 3: going to have to pay us R. Thompson next year,
[49:36] Speaker 3: either an extension or they'll wait till he goes into
[49:39] Speaker 3: restricted free agency, and that can get tough if you're
[49:42] Speaker 3: then talking about paying three massive contracts to Kid Duran
[49:45] Speaker 3: and NSAR Thompson.
[49:48] Speaker 1: I realized, like, yeah, should.
[49:49] Speaker 3: Have traded for Kobe White. That would have solved so
[49:52] Speaker 3: much for this team. He's young enough, he's the exact
[49:55] Speaker 3: position and type of player that they needed, and you
[49:58] Speaker 3: can get him on a d send enough deal that
[50:01] Speaker 3: it's not killing you going forward. So I think kind
[50:03] Speaker 3: of a off season for Detroit.
[50:06] Speaker 2: Absolutely, you look at a bunch of those teams in
[50:09] Speaker 2: Boston and Philly, in Toronto, I'm probably taking them in
[50:12] Speaker 2: a series over Detroit. Although Philly, I should say this,
[50:18] Speaker 2: I shouldn't say. Although new news here from SHAANP. Sharanya.
[50:21] Speaker 2: Philadelphia added Ryan Rupere on a two way contract.
[50:25] Speaker 1: Wow, d did you just get that alert on your watch?
[50:28] Speaker 1: By the way I saw you looked.
[50:29] Speaker 2: I only wear my watch for one week fortification. My
[50:35] Speaker 2: wife will complain and say where you watch and I
[50:37] Speaker 2: say no, no, just for free agency. Although, yeah, Detroit
[50:40] Speaker 2: has definitely got to be skeptical about them. If Jalen
[50:43] Speaker 2: Durant is doing this whole thing, but talking to other teams,
[50:46] Speaker 2: I wonder the connection there with him in the front
[50:49] Speaker 2: office and if he's going to improve. I know it's
[50:53] Speaker 2: July and maybe he can improve. But at the same time,
[50:55] Speaker 2: you gotta be skeptical about that. Tobias Harris literally was
[50:59] Speaker 2: their second best player, and you can give him the ball.
[51:02] Speaker 2: You can't do that with John Collins. And we've watched
[51:04] Speaker 2: on cons for so long. Yeah, yeah, he can put
[51:05] Speaker 2: pressure on the rim, and Isaiah is fine to help
[51:08] Speaker 2: out shoot the ball. But here we are. Vain is
[51:12] Speaker 2: good and it's Kate Cunningham is going to lead a
[51:16] Speaker 2: good team. I think he's made that clear every single season.
[51:19] Speaker 2: But when you compared to a bunch of these teams
[51:21] Speaker 2: in the Eastern Conference, it's wide open, baby, and I again,
[51:24] Speaker 2: I wouldn't take Detroit. I'm not confident. And who's they
[51:28] Speaker 2: giving the ball to? Who's their center? Jaen there can
[51:32] Speaker 2: come back, but still it's weird.
[51:33] Speaker 3: The good thing is they're probably gotta get a deal
[51:35] Speaker 3: on during at this point, nobody else to give him
[51:38] Speaker 3: restricted free agency money.
[51:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's yeah, that's so.
[51:41] Speaker 3: Good for the Pistons. Unless he feels some type of way.
[51:43] Speaker 1: That's the thing. You better hope he doesn't bout his
[51:46] Speaker 1: way through a season. That would be bad, you know.
[51:48] Speaker 1: I hope he wouldn't do that. But they're going to
[51:51] Speaker 1: make a panic trade next season at some point when
[51:53] Speaker 1: they're like, oh crap, we're being left behind here. I mean,
[51:57] Speaker 1: they'll have some of these deals, Like you said, the
[51:59] Speaker 1: Hurder one will probably be a guy moved. It could
[52:00] Speaker 1: be callings and stuff like that. So they just screamed that.
[52:03] Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm with you guys. Was disappointing offseason for sure.
[52:07] Speaker 1: What about you loser for the offseason?
[52:09] Speaker 2: Hey, let's preach. We'll get literal here. With the New
[52:11] Speaker 2: York Knicks, they lost Mitchell Robinson. He's a part of
[52:13] Speaker 2: their team and he's underappreciated. I think he was a
[52:17] Speaker 2: guy who helped get Karl Anthony Towns to the postseason
[52:20] Speaker 2: as their starting center because he played twenty minutes per
[52:22] Speaker 2: game in the regular season just to help him out.
[52:26] Speaker 2: Now it's a lot different in the backup center role
[52:28] Speaker 2: for the New York Knicks. Hack Porty also out and
[52:32] Speaker 2: so yeah, they'll probably go fishing for somebody else to
[52:35] Speaker 2: help out. But Mitchell Robinson heart and soul. Again, twenty
[52:40] Speaker 2: minutes per game during the regular season. Those minutes came
[52:42] Speaker 2: down in the playoffs. They didn't need him as much
[52:45] Speaker 2: fourteen minutes per game. But we shall see what happens
[52:48] Speaker 2: in the regular season to get Carl Anthony Towns to
[52:51] Speaker 2: the playoffs again. I think he was just helpful and
[52:55] Speaker 2: good dude and the longest tenured Knicks player. Will they
[52:58] Speaker 2: lose their chemistry their locker, Probably not, but still he's
[53:03] Speaker 2: just a nice to have. Now who they playing, you know,
[53:07] Speaker 2: behind Karl Antony Towns. It's fair question Looney is the
[53:13] Speaker 2: the rumor, right, yeah.
[53:13] Speaker 3: Rumor, and he does basically the exact same stuff as Mitchell.
[53:16] Speaker 2: Robinson, just hurt even more than Mitchell Robinson these days.
[53:20] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Looney is certainly past his prime. But I
[53:24] Speaker 3: think the Knicks can recover from losing Mitchell Robinson, but
[53:27] Speaker 3: they literally need to get a backup center.
[53:28] Speaker 1: It's just like they need someone. It's just pathetic, is
[53:31] Speaker 1: what we're getting at.
[53:31] Speaker 2: Though.
[53:32] Speaker 1: It's like you want a championship doll and Jesus crying
[53:34] Speaker 1: back like God damn it.
[53:35] Speaker 3: He was the longest hunted nick too.
[53:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, like that's that's the part that's a little like
[53:39] Speaker 1: you roll your eyes at it. Okay, I get it.
[53:42] Speaker 1: I mean it's difficult makes obviously Bill in the roster,
[53:45] Speaker 1: but you're you have a very good team here. You're
[53:48] Speaker 1: gonna be a favorite. Still. Just keep the band together.
[53:50] Speaker 2: Man, you just made a lot of money.
[53:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's okay.
[53:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, I hate hearing this second apron is suicidal. It
[53:58] Speaker 2: doesn't have to be. If you're bringing back the exact
[54:00] Speaker 2: same team and knowing that you're not trading anybody, I mean,
[54:04] Speaker 2: you're running the same team back, maybe you can say, hey, Mitch,
[54:07] Speaker 2: just one year, right, you know that flexibility or something
[54:10] Speaker 2: like that. So yeah, it sucks when a team doesn't
[54:13] Speaker 2: bring back everybody just for one more chance.
[54:16] Speaker 3: Well, especially sucks when the champion doesn't bring them back
[54:19] Speaker 3: those are the teams that are supposed to be paying
[54:20] Speaker 3: into the second apron. Yeah, you should be like, Okay,
[54:24] Speaker 3: we got a chance to win the championship again, I
[54:26] Speaker 3: guess we'll go into the second apron. It hurts your
[54:28] Speaker 3: team building constructs for sure. But they built a great team. Yeah,
[54:32] Speaker 3: so what are you adding to it?
[54:33] Speaker 1: So?
[54:33] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[54:34] Speaker 3: Sphere tickets are expensive and it's sold out all the time,
[54:38] Speaker 3: so they got the money for it.
[54:41] Speaker 1: No, we're not going to Summer League in Vegas this year.
[54:46] Speaker 1: Did you look up who's professionally? Don't know who's You're
[54:50] Speaker 1: curious now if you want to take a second to
[54:53] Speaker 1: the Eagles and Eagles still, Eagles are still there.
[54:58] Speaker 3: They just play eighteen straight versions of Take It Easy.
[55:01] Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
[55:02] Speaker 1: Okay, now, Wizard of Oz and the Eagles. Okay, Yeah.
[55:08] Speaker 1: My big twenty twenty six NBA free agency loser is
[55:12] Speaker 1: Lakers executive Rob Polinka. Our guy Ben Golliver at ESPN.
[55:17] Speaker 1: I thought he put it well, noting how Polenka was
[55:20] Speaker 1: facing likely significant pressure from all sides this summer. First off,
[55:27] Speaker 1: he is answering to a new ownership group, so that
[55:30] Speaker 1: always brings new challenges new voices that want to have,
[55:34] Speaker 1: you know, their opinion heard. There's that. Then you had
[55:36] Speaker 1: Luca probably of course, saying, hey, let's upgrade this roster,
[55:40] Speaker 1: most notably I need a center. I want a center,
[55:43] Speaker 1: and of course they get Walker Kessler, and then Lebron
[55:45] Speaker 1: James just leaves, and that's marking the beginning of a
[55:48] Speaker 1: new era for the Lakers. So a tough spot. I
[55:51] Speaker 1: believe Polenka was in here, and what's he do? How
[55:54] Speaker 1: does he respond? He goes to the aisle labeled exciting whites,
[55:59] Speaker 1: and he got Austin Reeves to re sign big deal.
[56:02] Speaker 1: I've made my thoughts known on that four years, one
[56:05] Speaker 1: hundred and eighty five million dollar maximum contract extension. I
[56:07] Speaker 1: also get it, though you couldn't see him leave. Luca
[56:11] Speaker 1: likes him too, but it's a lot of money and
[56:13] Speaker 1: acquired Walker Kessler hefty draft packed draft pick package and
[56:18] Speaker 1: then the four year, one hundred and thirty million dollar.
[56:21] Speaker 1: Now the salary actually at his age, like it's like
[56:25] Speaker 1: going to be eighteen percent of the salary cap for
[56:27] Speaker 1: Walker Kessler. So that is well below max number, and
[56:31] Speaker 1: it has him like tenth or eleventh I think among
[56:33] Speaker 1: centers so pretty good if he obviously plays and gives
[56:38] Speaker 1: you great defense and stuff like that. So I actually
[56:39] Speaker 1: don't mind that. But in addition to Lebron leaving, they
[56:42] Speaker 1: lost Marcus Smart, Luke Canar, Jackson, Hayes, Ruey Hachimura. I
[56:45] Speaker 1: guess is probably leaving. I don't think he's sticking with
[56:48] Speaker 1: the Lakers. They added Quentin Grimes, Mamu, Collin Sexton, and
[56:52] Speaker 1: then despite a lot of financial limitations, looks like they're
[56:55] Speaker 1: trying to land unrestricted free agent Joonathan Kaminga. You know,
[57:00] Speaker 1: look again, I think he was in a bit of
[57:02] Speaker 1: a tough spot here. Lebron leaving, got to upgrade the roster.
[57:05] Speaker 1: There's new ownership. What are we doing with all this
[57:08] Speaker 1: cap space in a market where there's not a lot
[57:10] Speaker 1: of like sexy free agent names. I don't know, though,
[57:13] Speaker 1: did they get a lot better the Lakers?
[57:16] Speaker 2: To you, are they gonna be the same same? Ish
[57:22] Speaker 2: the roster right now? It still lacks perimeter defense and size.
[57:27] Speaker 2: You're gonna have a lot on Quentin Grimes and Sandramin
[57:30] Speaker 2: mckelis vieley too, a lot on them to guard and
[57:33] Speaker 2: they're small at the three and four. If those those
[57:35] Speaker 2: are your three and four starting because I assume they are.
[57:38] Speaker 2: I mean, you're not starting Le Ravier, Jared Vanderbilt, I
[57:41] Speaker 2: don't think anymore. And I mean you got deandret In
[57:45] Speaker 2: to back up Walker Kessler. But beyond that, yeah, I
[57:48] Speaker 2: think you do miss You're your Marcus Smart. You do
[57:51] Speaker 2: miss that type of grit and yeah, the perimeter defense
[57:55] Speaker 2: again size and I know Walker Kestler is huge, but
[57:58] Speaker 2: there's a lot on him right here right now, and
[58:01] Speaker 2: there's a lot on undersize three and four with Grimes
[58:04] Speaker 2: and Menichelisphiely.
[58:05] Speaker 1: According to league sources, Luca is excited about the Lakers signings,
[58:09] Speaker 1: so maybe that's all it matters, right, I mean, he's
[58:11] Speaker 1: excited about keeping Austin Reeves. He seems excited about the
[58:14] Speaker 1: rim protection that Walker Kessler could give. And I'll say,
[58:17] Speaker 1: despite giving them a sort of a loser here in
[58:19] Speaker 1: free agency and Plinka, they have gotten like gotten a
[58:21] Speaker 1: little more younger, gotten a little more athletic. There is
[58:25] Speaker 1: some upside than just sort of spinning their wheels here
[58:28] Speaker 1: and they're trying to start the Luka donc Chera. I
[58:30] Speaker 1: think it just might start a little slower than maybe
[58:34] Speaker 1: hoped for. At once upon a time. But maybe it'll
[58:37] Speaker 1: find its way. But I just think in the in
[58:39] Speaker 1: the West here, I don't have them improving all that
[58:42] Speaker 1: much in terms of like, but they went fifty three games. Yeah,
[58:45] Speaker 1: top my head, Yeah, fourth seed.
[58:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you think about that? I think they're
[58:49] Speaker 3: actually gonna be awesome on offense. They built a Luka
[58:52] Speaker 3: Doncic team, a lot of shooting and a guy who
[58:54] Speaker 3: runs to the rim. Kessler's gonna shoot seventy percent. If
[58:57] Speaker 3: you're a center and you play with Luka Doncic, you
[58:59] Speaker 3: shoot seventy percent. Sure, Gafford did it, Lively did it,
[59:02] Speaker 3: Hayes did it, Ate and did it.
[59:04] Speaker 2: Like.
[59:04] Speaker 3: This guy's gonna be good. They're gonna be awesome on offense.
[59:06] Speaker 3: This is another people will definitely be picking Luka Doncic
[59:10] Speaker 3: for MVP because this is set up perfectly for him
[59:13] Speaker 3: to dominate on the offensive side of things. I don't
[59:16] Speaker 3: like the length of some of these contracts. Like, I'm like, Mamu,
[59:19] Speaker 3: good deal, four years, that's kind of long. Colin Sexton
[59:22] Speaker 3: not really a fan at all. Quentin Grime Santham a
[59:25] Speaker 3: good deal for him, four years, that's too long. You're
[59:27] Speaker 3: stuck with this team for a little bit without all
[59:29] Speaker 3: these picks that you're able to trade and change up
[59:33] Speaker 3: the team. So this is gonna kind of be their team,
[59:35] Speaker 3: it feels like, which is just crazy to me, Like
[59:37] Speaker 3: why go into free agency with a lot of cap
[59:39] Speaker 3: space if you're the Lakers. You don't build with cap
[59:42] Speaker 3: space anymore. It's just not how it's done. Look at
[59:45] Speaker 3: the Lakers. They got Anthony Davis via trade. They got
[59:47] Speaker 3: Luka Doncic via trade. Rob Polinka should know you build
[59:51] Speaker 3: teams via trade right now. So to me, ultimate endgame
[59:55] Speaker 3: for the Lakers, let Luca have some fun, be a
[59:59] Speaker 3: chat lenging team, like this is still a playoff team
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: to me. And then eventually they're gonna have to trade
[1:00:04] Speaker 3: Reeves to get Luca whoever the next guy is, because
[1:00:09] Speaker 3: it just all makes sense, like this team is just
[1:00:11] Speaker 3: not good enough. They got swept by the Thunder. Thunder
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: didn't even make it to the finals.
[1:00:14] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean, obviously Shay should still be in
[1:00:17] Speaker 1: the mix for MVP Wemby of course, But I'm with
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: you on the Luca. I think we could have a
[1:00:21] Speaker 1: fun Luca versus Tatum MVP battle too. When you're talking
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: about narratives built in, so we'll see, all right, those
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: are our winners and losers. Lots to pick from, and
[1:00:33] Speaker 1: we've talked about a lot of these as we've gone
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: over the last week. But you tell us in the stream,
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: team tell us in the comments Spotify comments as well.
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: Appreciate everybody obviously giving their insight on who they think

[1:02:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, to join a basically a league, like you're saying.
[1:02:50] Speaker 2: No joking around.
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: Pick your sport.
[1:02:52] Speaker 2: Maybe Jalen Brown will join in Philly. Who knows?
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: I thought about that? Yeah, uh, Jad you said you
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: pick a ball yesterday outside? I did hot is balls here.
[1:03:04] Speaker 2: That's hot, so hot.
[1:03:07] Speaker 1: It balls like melt.
[1:03:09] Speaker 4: But the league we're in, though, we play outside, so
[1:03:13] Speaker 4: we're trying to condition ourselves respect Yeah.
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: You guys taking hydration breaks?
[1:03:19] Speaker 2: Oh no, no, that's for soccer players, all.
[1:03:25] Speaker 1: Right, before we go rapid fire, fun, Trey, you got
[1:03:29] Speaker 1: the questions this week, we got the increason. That's right.
[1:03:31] Speaker 3: Ben Simmons is gearing up for a return to the
[1:03:34] Speaker 3: NBA after taking a year off to rip some lips.
[1:03:38] Speaker 3: What's something you guys took a little break from that.
[1:03:40] Speaker 3: You're planning to get back into.
[1:03:41] Speaker 1: Skis Love Island, UK. Great, So what happened is noaur
[1:03:46] Speaker 1: and I started it, I guess somewhat of a new
[1:03:48] Speaker 1: season a couple of weeks ago at least started it
[1:03:51] Speaker 1: watching it. But then my guy Jared Dent, who I
[1:03:54] Speaker 1: share a couple of subscription services with, he started traveling.
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: I think, uh, me out of my subscriptions for Love
[1:04:02] Speaker 1: Island UK, and I didn't want to bother him, so
[1:04:04] Speaker 1: we just said, you know what, wait till he gets back.
[1:04:05] Speaker 1: Now he's back. Now I got a log back in
[1:04:08] Speaker 1: and pick it back up, I gotta say. Nora, following
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: it on social media, says this season started slow, but
[1:04:17] Speaker 1: now it's like really humming along. So yeah, Love Island UK,
[1:04:19] Speaker 1: I'll be back into it soon. Good.
[1:04:21] Speaker 2: Perfect time to get out when it was bad.
[1:04:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly.
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: I got a perfect time to get back in to
[1:04:28] Speaker 2: something playing basketball.
[1:04:30] Speaker 1: Hey, whoa nice.
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: It's taking a while. It's taken a while, you know.
[1:04:34] Speaker 2: I filled it in with other stuff, but ain't nothing
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: like the team sport of basketball. There you go, Corn
[1:04:40] Speaker 2: holy O just wasn't doing it. Yeah for sure, very
[1:04:48] Speaker 2: won every six bags maybe, but anyway, it's time to
[1:04:53] Speaker 2: get back in. So it'll happen late summer because I
[1:04:56] Speaker 2: I ain't playing in the hot heat for sure. Tall
[1:05:01] Speaker 2: Well yeah, well August somewhere.
[1:05:03] Speaker 1: Yeah about you, j D.
[1:05:07] Speaker 4: I've been taking a break, break from breaks, so now break.
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know it's I'm always.
[1:05:15] Speaker 2: Working, you know what I mean.
[1:05:17] Speaker 4: So now I want to get back into having a break.
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: That's it, you know, all right.
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: I feel like we could repeat that from last year's show. Okay,
[1:05:27] Speaker 2: probably when I feel like I'm literally having a flashback
[1:05:30] Speaker 2: of Yeah.
[1:05:32] Speaker 1: I mean, I have a.
[1:05:32] Speaker 4: List of things that I've definitely answered before, like you know,
[1:05:36] Speaker 4: video games, playing guitar. I always want to get back
[1:05:40] Speaker 4: on a motorcycle. I have spent thirty years that's not happening.
[1:05:45] Speaker 4: Skiing is another one. Wow, but why not?
[1:05:49] Speaker 2: Well, why what's wrong with the motorcycle? Why can't you ride?
[1:05:51] Speaker 4: You know, I got two kids and I got we've
[1:05:54] Speaker 4: got over this dangerous manos.
[1:06:00] Speaker 2: Yes, a lot's dangerous.
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: Yeah for sure.
[1:06:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why if you had a motorcycle, would you
[1:06:05] Speaker 3: wear a face mask on your helmet or like an
[1:06:07] Speaker 3: open face.
[1:06:08] Speaker 4: For an open face?
[1:06:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got a beard. Yeah, and this guy is
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: a bit of a problem because it just yeah, yeah,
[1:06:16] Speaker 1: I tuck it into your shirt hair. You need to
[1:06:18] Speaker 1: put a hair net on.
[1:06:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it would have happened when I had
[1:06:22] Speaker 4: my convertible. It would be flying down the highway just
[1:06:25] Speaker 4: like thinking I looked cool, but just look like ballid hair.
[1:06:32] Speaker 3: Through a series of transactions, the Lakers have wound up
[1:06:35] Speaker 3: with a starting lineup that could be eighty percent white guys.
[1:06:38] Speaker 3: Has there ever been a time when you accidentally ended
[1:06:40] Speaker 3: up with too much of the same things?
[1:06:41] Speaker 1: Keiths, Yeah, I actually have a story here for you.
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: We call it the Great Cheese Incident of twenty twenty one.
[1:06:48] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and I think we have a pick. We
[1:06:52] Speaker 1: accidentally got somebody else's groceries to the house, okay, and
[1:06:58] Speaker 1: there was a lot of cheese for just two people.
[1:07:00] Speaker 1: Of mind, this is just Nora and I. We do
[1:07:01] Speaker 1: not have kids, and you know it's just us too,
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: So this was a lot of cheese coming through. There's
[1:07:09] Speaker 1: a lot of milk too, a.
[1:07:10] Speaker 3: Lot of diary it s there's a yogurt hanging out there, yeah, yellow.
[1:07:13] Speaker 1: And there was a huge jug of milk. We never
[1:07:16] Speaker 1: ordered that, like, like, I'm the only one that drinks
[1:07:18] Speaker 1: some milk in the house with cereals. So anyway, the
[1:07:21] Speaker 1: Great Cheese incident of twenty one. We accidentally ended up
[1:07:24] Speaker 1: with this and yeah, well I'm sure we made our
[1:07:27] Speaker 1: way through it, like we like cheese. Sure, this could
[1:07:29] Speaker 1: easily be my cheese order.
[1:07:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm never putting in an order for Marscapone.
[1:07:34] Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes normal order that.
[1:07:36] Speaker 3: We got a bag of parm and a wedge aparm.
[1:07:39] Speaker 3: I guess whoever ordered this doesn't.
[1:07:41] Speaker 1: Have a box grater? No, no, so yeah, the Great
[1:07:46] Speaker 1: Cheese Incident, the Great cheese Incident.
[1:07:48] Speaker 3: Wow, not to be confused with the string cheese incident.
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: Right, yeah, so many cheeses, so many white products. I'm
[1:07:58] Speaker 2: just seing to what you said. Out potential four out
[1:08:02] Speaker 2: of five white starters for the Lakers could easily be five.
[1:08:05] Speaker 2: Luca Reeves, Walker Kessler, La Rabia, su Mamu La Ravia,
[1:08:10] Speaker 2: and Quentin Grimes. It's as close to white guy as
[1:08:12] Speaker 2: you can get. He's half black, half white, so four
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: four and a half. Yeah yeah yeah yeah, his mom,
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: his mom's white. His actual he's got a half brother
[1:08:23] Speaker 2: who plays in the NHL, entirely white, same mom. Huh yeah,
[1:08:27] Speaker 2: Tyler Myers, yeah, okay, yeah, you know.
[1:08:30] Speaker 1: So they're calling instead of showtime, they're calling them snow Times,
[1:08:33] Speaker 1: No time Lakers pretty funny, pretty damn fun pretty funny.
[1:08:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, trust laches will become sinkle laches at some point.
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: For me. Well, I went to Costco because sometimes I
[1:08:46] Speaker 2: see a deal and I say, I'm in on this.
[1:08:49] Speaker 2: If you could buy one hundred dollars or if you
[1:08:50] Speaker 2: had if you bought one hundred dollars of Procter and
[1:08:53] Speaker 2: Gamble products, you got twenty five dollars off. Oh my god,
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: I looked. I looked at the list. I did my math.
[1:08:59] Speaker 2: Twenty five dollars off of one hundred dollars of Sharman
[1:09:01] Speaker 2: paper towels. Sure, old spice body wash. God, I don't
[1:09:05] Speaker 2: need that mesh. But okay, uh, but now I've got
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: so much head shoulders I can't get through. I can't
[1:09:11] Speaker 2: get through my head and shoulders. I can't get through it.
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: Does anybody want to buckets? Essentially, I can't. I'm like
[1:09:18] Speaker 2: trying to mean you can't, but goes back. No, I
[1:09:23] Speaker 2: know it's I'm not not complaining, but I'm like, I
[1:09:26] Speaker 2: just have it. I'm just I've honestly added to my
[1:09:31] Speaker 2: huge supply that I've I've had for years. Sometimes you
[1:09:34] Speaker 2: sometimes you think shampoo goes bad. You know, one of
[1:09:37] Speaker 2: those champlains.
[1:09:38] Speaker 3: I've never I've well, I I do think about it
[1:09:45] Speaker 3: because it's sitting there for years.
[1:09:48] Speaker 2: Did you get the right it's a little, of course
[1:09:50] Speaker 2: it did. Yeah, it's twenty five bucks off. Was it
[1:09:52] Speaker 2: worth it? No? But I guess they got you, they
[1:09:56] Speaker 2: got me. I mean sometimes sometimes shampoos it looks like
[1:10:00] Speaker 2: they dilute a little bit, you know, it's like they
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: can separate a little bit. It's more of the is
[1:10:04] Speaker 2: more the proper term. Yeah, so they got to shake
[1:10:06] Speaker 2: them up. It's that healthy. Probably it's just jampoo.
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: Shake it up, JD.
[1:10:12] Speaker 3: When did you end up with too much of something?
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: Well?
[1:10:15] Speaker 4: I hesitate to say this because they're a sponsor of
[1:10:17] Speaker 4: the show, But fablet X guys, we got a lot
[1:10:20] Speaker 4: of fabletics. And the only reason I'm saying this is
[1:10:23] Speaker 4: because there's a heat wave happening and it's all like sweats,
[1:10:26] Speaker 4: like I have like this whole my closet is full
[1:10:30] Speaker 4: of tracksuits and stuff that I can't wear. And it's
[1:10:33] Speaker 4: just it's a lot of a lot of fabletics. They
[1:10:35] Speaker 4: sent us a literal metric ton of of fabletics, which
[1:10:40] Speaker 4: you know, very generous, but also.
[1:10:43] Speaker 2: It's a lot.
[1:10:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, you got every style of sweatpant that have ever
[1:10:46] Speaker 3: always been.
[1:10:46] Speaker 4: Made, literally and but luckily I have I live with
[1:10:50] Speaker 4: two other men, so I distributed it to them.
[1:10:53] Speaker 1: But I thought I saw Jackson wearing Yeah, he's wearing
[1:10:56] Speaker 1: one today. Yeah, I saw him in the blue baby blue.
[1:10:59] Speaker 1: I thought that love.
[1:11:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was nice about the three of you kind
[1:11:02] Speaker 3: of wear like similar sizes.
[1:11:03] Speaker 1: Though, Yeah, yep, yep, ex sharing clothes.
[1:11:09] Speaker 2: It's crazy.
[1:11:10] Speaker 3: Celtics lost out on Giannis earlier this week when they
[1:11:12] Speaker 3: wouldn't include Hugo Gonzales and Baylor Baggins in a trade.
[1:11:15] Speaker 3: Now those untouchable guys look like they're gonna be coming
[1:11:18] Speaker 3: off the bench behind Paul George. Guys, what's something you
[1:11:21] Speaker 3: have that seems minor but you consider it untouchable?
[1:11:25] Speaker 1: Well, because we're like the only people on the planet
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: that didn't win a Sports Emmy. The one thing I
[1:11:32] Speaker 1: consider untouchable. This is for the collective of all of us.
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: The twenty twenty Webby Award for People's Choice of Best
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: Sports Podcast. The people said, so yeah, I do. It's
[1:11:44] Speaker 1: sitting on a shelf in my office. I we should
[1:11:47] Speaker 1: bring it in here to have it in the background,
[1:11:48] Speaker 1: and I will do that. But uh yeah, that's not
[1:11:50] Speaker 1: going anywhere.
[1:11:51] Speaker 2: Baby.
[1:11:52] Speaker 1: It's a good.
[1:11:53] Speaker 3: Accolade for us, actually does it's a cool like, it's.
[1:11:56] Speaker 1: A cool lay. Yeah. I was looking at it detail like,
[1:12:00] Speaker 1: this is pretty cool. It's got ones and zeros all
[1:12:02] Speaker 1: over that spiral part to it's got a name on it.
[1:12:05] Speaker 1: And the people voted for it, like they gave it
[1:12:08] Speaker 1: to it. People had our back. We asked the people, hey,
[1:12:10] Speaker 1: let's go get go get a Webby here. I don't
[1:12:12] Speaker 1: even know if the Webby still exists. I guess they do.
[1:12:15] Speaker 1: But oh yeah, they're even more prestigious, are they. Yeah, okay,
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: well good, Yeah.
[1:12:19] Speaker 2: We got it early. We got in at the right time.
[1:12:21] Speaker 2: No competition, A little bits, a little bit, uh for me,
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: something I value way too much. Come on, analgeen, that's
[1:12:34] Speaker 2: a that's an old lady piece song to get me
[1:12:36] Speaker 2: to nal Geene. I will never give up analogy and
[1:12:40] Speaker 2: bottle water bottle never. I love the idea that I'm
[1:12:45] Speaker 2: going to drink a thousand million ters or thirty two ounces.
[1:12:48] Speaker 2: If I get through one, I'll get through a second.
[1:12:49] Speaker 2: I love the big mouth I ain't going away. I ain't.
[1:12:53] Speaker 2: It ain't going away.
[1:12:54] Speaker 1: But okay, I like like analogy too. Well, I was
[1:12:57] Speaker 1: going to say that, And my biggest issue with them
[1:13:01] Speaker 1: is in the car I find it. It's like inconvenient
[1:13:06] Speaker 1: because you got to do the twist off, you know,
[1:13:09] Speaker 1: like you've got it maybe in your cup holder than
[1:13:11] Speaker 1: I don't. You know, it's not the it's not the
[1:13:13] Speaker 1: not the greatest in your cup holder.
[1:13:15] Speaker 2: No, well no, I've got a caravan a couple.
[1:13:18] Speaker 1: You're going to say that that's yeah, well that's Carvana's
[1:13:23] Speaker 1: World Cup. That's our that's our second, our second most
[1:13:27] Speaker 1: important trophy, Carvana World Cup.
[1:13:31] Speaker 3: Thing that would be an answer for me for actually
[1:13:34] Speaker 3: accidentally ended up with too much of the same thing.
[1:13:37] Speaker 1: As water bottles. Oh yeah, man, like a thousand.
[1:13:40] Speaker 3: Water bottles that in jars just seemed to multiply in
[1:13:43] Speaker 3: the household.
[1:13:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, family come over and stayed past weekend. I opened
[1:13:47] Speaker 2: up my cupboard. I said, please take one.
[1:13:49] Speaker 1: That's give them away. So thing you never want to
[1:13:54] Speaker 1: like throw out or like or cycled for some reason, definitely, Yeah,
[1:13:57] Speaker 1: Like it defeats the whole purpose, Like shampoo, it never
[1:13:59] Speaker 1: goes back.
[1:13:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right, that's what I thought, Jad.
[1:14:02] Speaker 3: What's untouchable for you?
[1:14:05] Speaker 4: I mentioned a clothing item before my last answer. This
[1:14:08] Speaker 4: is socks for me. I'm stupidly precious about my socks. Again,
[1:14:12] Speaker 4: I mentioned the two men I live with my sons.
[1:14:16] Speaker 4: If what if I see them wearing my socks, which
[1:14:19] Speaker 4: happens every other day, I am incensed because if it goes,
[1:14:24] Speaker 4: if they go into the gem pop of the laundry
[1:14:27] Speaker 4: so I do my own laundry, then no one's allowed
[1:14:29] Speaker 4: to touch my laundry.
[1:14:29] Speaker 1: If it.
[1:14:32] Speaker 4: If it ends up in their fucking cyclone of clothes
[1:14:37] Speaker 4: that never get folded, and they're they're just gone, like
[1:14:39] Speaker 4: they're literally just gone. So if I see them wearing them,
[1:14:43] Speaker 4: I'm less concerned about them wearing them that those have
[1:14:46] Speaker 4: to end up back in my laundry basket. Or your
[1:14:49] Speaker 4: band from socks.
[1:14:51] Speaker 2: Oh that's it.
[1:14:52] Speaker 3: Wow, that would be a fine time to be banned
[1:14:54] Speaker 3: from socks.
[1:14:55] Speaker 2: That that was fine.
[1:14:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's true. You called everybody else's laundry gen pop.
[1:15:01] Speaker 2: That's right.
[1:15:01] Speaker 3: So yours is like the high security wing.
[1:15:05] Speaker 4: The Hannibal Elector basement. That's where I keep my laundry.
[1:15:09] Speaker 1: Why do you do your own laundry.
[1:15:10] Speaker 4: Because they don't know how to do it. Okay, yeah,
[1:15:13] Speaker 4: they can't fold, they can't.
[1:15:15] Speaker 1: Yeah. I do my own laundry too, but I don't
