[0:44] Speaker 1: and hit the beach to answer some of your NBA questions.
[0:47] Speaker 1: The people want to know, Test. How did the Peach
[0:50] Speaker 1: Tree Road Race go for you on July fourth?
[0:53] Speaker 3: It was very fun?
[0:54] Speaker 1: Okay, good?
[0:55] Speaker 2: It was very crowded. Okay, so there's my excuse for
[0:58] Speaker 2: having a slow time.
[0:59] Speaker 1: Fifty five people run this race.
[1:01] Speaker 4: Yeah, people on the way.
[1:02] Speaker 2: People literally you're running laterals, I mean you're running side
[1:08] Speaker 2: to side around people.
[1:09] Speaker 3: Yeah. They opped it.
[1:10] Speaker 2: Every single announce for somebody on the PA kept upping.
[1:13] Speaker 2: The amount of people got up to fifty six thousand,
[1:16] Speaker 2: the biggest ten K ever, but a super fun. You
[1:18] Speaker 2: got live bands playing.
[1:20] Speaker 3: I'm not sold but the soul.
[1:23] Speaker 2: You know, there's live bands everywhere. There's great signs everywhere.
[1:27] Speaker 2: I'm grabbing bananas and neat nice. It was pretty fun
[1:30] Speaker 2: and the signs make it happen.
[1:33] Speaker 3: You like that?
[1:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yes, just for a super boot exactly. Yeah, yeah,
[1:38] Speaker 2: that was pretty fun.
[1:40] Speaker 1: Did you run any sprinklers? Oh yeah, yeah, perfect? Did
[1:44] Speaker 1: you get blessed by the Holy water? Did you see
[1:46] Speaker 1: that no church out there?
[1:48] Speaker 3: Oh? Really?
[1:49] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah? Great side carrier faster than Atlanta traffic.
[1:56] Speaker 3: Smile.
[1:57] Speaker 2: You paid for this. No one likes a quick finisher.
[2:02] Speaker 1: Hey well, okay, good stuff.
[2:07] Speaker 3: I finished.
[2:09] Speaker 1: Were you hurting the next day?
[2:10] Speaker 3: A little? Actually?
[2:11] Speaker 2: When I left, I I felt fine. But everything takes
[2:14] Speaker 2: time and you get it. Ride the Marta to get
[2:16] Speaker 2: out of there, so you know, from the five am
[2:19] Speaker 2: on a Marta to finally somewhere you're home, like you know,
[2:23] Speaker 2: at noon or something like I was. I saw curb
[2:25] Speaker 2: and I was like, okay, I feel good. I can
[2:27] Speaker 2: bounce over this. I felt like Trey Kurb as soon
[2:29] Speaker 2: as I stepped over it cramp, but I was totally fine.
[2:34] Speaker 1: Okay, well, congratulations, that is cool. All right, let's get
[2:38] Speaker 1: into some NBA news here. We're still waiting for Lebron James.
[2:43] Speaker 1: We could be waiting for a while by all the
[2:45] Speaker 1: reporting here, I don't know how long he's going to
[2:47] Speaker 1: drag this out. On Friday, and I know we touched
[2:51] Speaker 1: on this on the On the Drop podcast because I
[2:53] Speaker 1: guess it had released that morning, but Lebron's agent, Rich Paul,
[2:56] Speaker 1: he put out a new episode of the Game Over
[2:58] Speaker 1: podcast with Max Kell, and that was where we got
[3:01] Speaker 1: the whiteboard shot where Rich detailed the teams that Lebron
[3:05] Speaker 1: is considering. There on the whiteboard, we're showing it to
[3:08] Speaker 1: you on YouTube, and he's listing ten and he's outlining
[3:12] Speaker 1: what he sees as the pros.
[3:13] Speaker 2: And cons each potential destination.
[3:22] Speaker 1: So Rich did tell ESPN last week, quote, this is
[3:25] Speaker 1: the first time that Lebron is making a decision pressure free.
[3:28] Speaker 1: He's one already. He's made good on his promise he
[3:30] Speaker 1: won in LA. This is strictly for happiness. What is
[3:34] Speaker 1: happiness entail? It's a number of things. It's a bucket
[3:37] Speaker 1: of happiness. It's basketball, it's living, it's camaraderie, it's competition,
[3:44] Speaker 1: it's everything. Again, that's Rich Paul. Now over the weekend,
[3:49] Speaker 1: the Timberwolves, we learned are making I guess you could
[3:52] Speaker 1: call it a unique pitch. Maybe a simple pitch is
[3:55] Speaker 1: a better way to put it. Hey, Lebron, come to
[3:57] Speaker 1: Minnesota and end the greatest of all time debate once
[4:01] Speaker 1: and for all. And this is according to the athletics
[4:03] Speaker 1: John Krishinski, who noted that the Wolves have just like
[4:06] Speaker 1: ramped up their push for Lebron and they have a
[4:09] Speaker 1: chance they think of landingam. But here's the quote that
[4:11] Speaker 1: what sort of made the rounds from Kristinski. The Timberwolves
[4:14] Speaker 1: have never won a championship. The Vikings and wild are
[4:16] Speaker 1: title lists as well. The Twins World Series winning ninety
[4:19] Speaker 1: one marks the last time in Minnesota men's professional sports
[4:22] Speaker 1: franchise won at all, the longest drought among US markets
[4:25] Speaker 1: with all four major sports. So their pitch to Lebron
[4:30] Speaker 1: TK is like, come here, come to Minnesota, bring us
[4:32] Speaker 1: a title, which obviously it's been a very long time,
[4:35] Speaker 1: and that will get you above MJ in the goat
[4:40] Speaker 1: talk if you can get your fifth because the idea,
[4:43] Speaker 1: right is not all championships are created equal. So you
[4:47] Speaker 1: know we've second. Maybe the Calves title for Lebron felt
[4:51] Speaker 1: like probably more than one.
[4:52] Speaker 5: Take one. But anyway, what do you think of all
[4:54] Speaker 5: this Lebron's I mean, this is pretty funny. If you
[4:57] Speaker 5: come to our sad sax city and win a championship, you.
[5:00] Speaker 6: Absolutely must be the goat. There's no way around it.
[5:04] Speaker 6: Come to Minnesota and win. Please, after that, go to
[5:07] Speaker 6: Sacramento and do it again. I want to really be
[5:09] Speaker 6: the goat. I also, like Rich Paul said in his
[5:12] Speaker 6: whiteboard video, I guarantee you Coach Finch will have an
[5:15] Speaker 6: edible arrangement every day in his locker if Lebron goes.
[5:19] Speaker 2: Oh none, I know, I know, but it's awesome.
[5:23] Speaker 4: That's awesome.
[5:24] Speaker 5: It's like there were questions if Lebron was going to
[5:27] Speaker 5: retire this past season.
[5:29] Speaker 4: You know, they put the patch on his shirt.
[5:32] Speaker 5: He never made a declaration either way, and instead he
[5:34] Speaker 5: still gets to be the main character in free agency
[5:37] Speaker 5: by simply waiting a week. All these trades happen, all
[5:41] Speaker 5: these signings happen, Lebron isn't a part of any of them. All,
[5:44] Speaker 5: he says, is I'm going somewhere else. Rich Paul hops
[5:47] Speaker 5: on the internet does a whiteboard video, and now Lebron
[5:51] Speaker 5: is the key to the off season once again.
[5:53] Speaker 4: And the longer that.
[5:54] Speaker 5: This goes, it's easier to talk yourself into literally any
[5:57] Speaker 5: place he goes, and also talk yourself out of any
[6:00] Speaker 5: place you go. It felt like Golden State was the
[6:02] Speaker 5: favorite five days ago, and now it feels like they're
[6:04] Speaker 5: completely left behind, right because Cleveland is his home and
[6:10] Speaker 5: he's doing a documentary like it doesn't have any sort
[6:12] Speaker 5: of influence on basketball to me at all. This all
[6:15] Speaker 5: feels like Lebron's storytelling at this point, so pretty funny. Apparently,
[6:21] Speaker 5: mark Stein says Cleveland is the scenario to beat and
[6:23] Speaker 5: they might even try and get a roster spot open
[6:26] Speaker 5: so that they could sign Bronni if Lebron comes. It's
[6:29] Speaker 5: like every possible story you could tell about Lebron James'
[6:33] Speaker 5: career going into his potentially final season makes sense and
[6:37] Speaker 5: also doesn't make sense.
[6:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder him being spotted in Cleveland multiple times
[6:44] Speaker 2: in a summer is all afront? Is this all part
[6:48] Speaker 2: of the documentary that he is ending his career in Cleveland,
[6:53] Speaker 2: or is it just oh, we'll throw he'll get out
[6:56] Speaker 2: there in public, and then we'll make a left turn
[7:00] Speaker 2: and signed somewhere else.
[7:01] Speaker 1: Because this is the first time where he's going right
[7:04] Speaker 1: now in this it's all a bit of a facade,
[7:06] Speaker 1: and just for obviously content play, it's hard to say
[7:09] Speaker 1: I could right if you couldn't know right now, of
[7:11] Speaker 1: course I'm going to Cleveland or maybe gold and say whatever.
[7:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's why I would. To me, it would
[7:15] Speaker 2: seem like a front, like I am turning, making the
[7:18] Speaker 2: left turn, going somewhere else, because this is the first
[7:20] Speaker 2: time in his career that we've seen him out in
[7:23] Speaker 2: public in the summer. I googled it trying to find
[7:26] Speaker 2: out if we've if he's been spotted multiple times in
[7:29] Speaker 2: a city where he apparently goes every single summer. Yeah,
[7:33] Speaker 2: so is this just hey, I'm I'm getting out here,
[7:35] Speaker 2: this is where I'm going, and then deciding to end
[7:39] Speaker 2: his documentary in a different way by going in a
[7:42] Speaker 2: different direction. It feels so logical that he would end
[7:46] Speaker 2: in Cleveland right right the book end. He's over forty,
[7:50] Speaker 2: so I'm sure he likes the routine of a city
[7:52] Speaker 2: that he knows instead of going to somewhere like Golden
[7:55] Speaker 2: State or Minnesota or you know, there's other other teams
[8:00] Speaker 2: on the docket, but this feels it feels so natural.
[8:04] Speaker 1: And it's also like it's the Cavs are not a
[8:06] Speaker 1: twenty five win team either. They were in the conference finals.
[8:09] Speaker 1: Like I don't know if I have them as suddenly
[8:12] Speaker 1: like jumping the Knicks or another Eastern Conference team if
[8:14] Speaker 1: he were to go back to Cleveland, but it's all
[8:16] Speaker 1: like they're bad. So it's like you could see it
[8:18] Speaker 1: at least the idea of them at least competing.
[8:21] Speaker 2: If he goes Yeah, if he goes to Cleveland, he's
[8:24] Speaker 2: more like the guy who would win the championship as
[8:29] Speaker 2: the number one player. I know it's Donovan Mitchell's team,
[8:31] Speaker 2: but that's a lot closer than a Steph Curry or
[8:33] Speaker 2: a Nistead of Gumpo in Miami.
[8:35] Speaker 1: You know, it's a good point.
[8:36] Speaker 5: It's pretty seen as the savior once again, done this
[8:41] Speaker 5: doing the sequel.
[8:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, is he the savior in Minnesota? Obviously, according to
[8:45] Speaker 2: John Krasinski, it is for the city. But Anthea Edwards
[8:49] Speaker 2: is the guy more.
[8:51] Speaker 1: He plays a part if he goes to one of
[8:53] Speaker 1: these franchises that have never won or obviously haven't had
[8:56] Speaker 1: a lot of success. You know, you said Sacramento, Okay, Atlanta.
[9:00] Speaker 1: You know there are teams that have got a very
[9:02] Speaker 1: long time the Suns have never won, stuff like that.
[9:04] Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean the Fitt in Minnesota. There's a spot,
[9:07] Speaker 1: there's a ropot ye, a natural spot for him to play.
[9:11] Speaker 1: Tough to wrap your head around, like, really, three super
[9:14] Speaker 1: ball dominant guys there. LaMelo wants the ball, should have
[9:17] Speaker 1: the ball. There is ant They got to figure that
[9:19] Speaker 1: part out. And then Lebron, you know, despite getting up
[9:22] Speaker 1: there in age, still has the ball in his hands
[9:24] Speaker 1: a lot and wants to sort of operate.
[9:26] Speaker 3: So so many characters.
[9:28] Speaker 2: You got a Rudy, you got a Labello, you got
[9:30] Speaker 2: an Anthony Edwards, and a Lebron. You're full of them.
[9:33] Speaker 1: How about this idea from Travis who wrote into us
[9:37] Speaker 1: over the weekend about Lebron. He said, Lebron James going
[9:39] Speaker 1: to be a free agent if the NBA gave him
[9:42] Speaker 1: a special exemption. I would love to see him play
[9:44] Speaker 1: home games with every NBA team. This would be the
[9:48] Speaker 1: absolute peak of player empowerment. Theater a thirty city single
[9:52] Speaker 1: season Mercenary tour. Mathematically, it works out beautifully. Thirty teams
[9:57] Speaker 1: in the NBA, he plays exactly two home games for
[9:59] Speaker 1: every f franchise. That's a sixty game season for him.
[10:02] Speaker 1: Using the twenty five to twenty six campaign as an example,
[10:05] Speaker 1: which ran from October to April, it gives the forty
[10:08] Speaker 1: one year old Lebron plenty of rest days between city swaps.
[10:11] Speaker 1: To keep him from spending the entire season on an airplane,
[10:14] Speaker 1: the NBA schedule makers would have to regionalize the tour,
[10:18] Speaker 1: and then Travis went through how it would look like
[10:21] Speaker 1: every phase, Like he starts on the West coast and
[10:24] Speaker 1: he makes his way to this area. It was pretty funny. Yeah,
[10:28] Speaker 1: the reaction to this, Yeah, why not right at this point,
[10:31] Speaker 1: there's your documentary right there.
[10:32] Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Travis Kelcey riding in the weekend of
[10:35] Speaker 5: his wedding to ask about Lebron. This is the poll
[10:38] Speaker 5: that this guy has. Pretty incredible stuff. I also heard
[10:41] Speaker 5: Simmons pitching basically the Roger Clemens plan, like I'm not
[10:44] Speaker 5: going to sign until February, then pick a team and
[10:47] Speaker 5: get ready for a playoff run. Fun to think about,
[10:50] Speaker 5: but then you also think about Lebron at the start
[10:52] Speaker 5: of this past season as the first time he's ever
[10:54] Speaker 5: missed the start of a season.
[10:55] Speaker 4: He hated it. Yeah, and it took him a while
[10:57] Speaker 4: to kind of get in the swing of things as well.
[10:58] Speaker 1: And what did Rich Paul say, camaraderie, You need a
[11:02] Speaker 1: full season, I think to prison camaraderie and even the preseason,
[11:05] Speaker 1: so probably, Yeah, I did hear that idea too. They
[11:07] Speaker 1: were and somebody even wrote in on the Simmons podcast
[11:10] Speaker 1: like Lebron should just wait to see who wins the
[11:12] Speaker 1: NBA Cup and then that, in addition to the trophy
[11:16] Speaker 1: and the extra money you get Lebron on your team,
[11:21] Speaker 1: just up the stakes for the NBA Cup. You're playing
[11:24] Speaker 1: for Lebron.
[11:26] Speaker 2: It's a great honor.
[11:29] Speaker 1: No bad ideas right now, this is our whiteboard. Put
[11:32] Speaker 1: everything up there.
[11:33] Speaker 5: I mean literally the Dallas one said, golf, oil, Macau.
[11:36] Speaker 4: And Africa.
[11:37] Speaker 5: I know why he might possibly sign with the MAVs,
[11:41] Speaker 5: like literally zero basketball, but there's some good off court
[11:44] Speaker 5: opportunities including oil.
[11:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, he's going to get his money in oil, golfing, Okay,
[11:51] Speaker 2: that makes sense, sure, sure, Macau.
[11:58] Speaker 1: And then Messia Jerry I think is the Africa?
[12:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean he is is worldly. I mean,
[12:05] Speaker 2: he does have the trains.
[12:07] Speaker 1: Right, you can start to touch yourself.
[12:08] Speaker 4: And he is an oil man.
[12:10] Speaker 7: He's leaving the Lakers. He abandoned his boy. He's gotta
[12:22] Speaker 7: go to Dallas.
[12:23] Speaker 4: Now.
[12:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, then you start to see, you start to see
[12:29] Speaker 3: other forms of his boy, not his son, but a
[12:32] Speaker 3: Brandon Weims, you know.
[12:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess they're close.
[12:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess they're close from way back when high
[12:38] Speaker 2: school days.
[12:39] Speaker 3: And he's an assistant GM.
[12:41] Speaker 2: We've talked before about Mike Ganzy and that he played
[12:45] Speaker 2: ball against him in high school. Lebron was mister basketball.
[12:51] Speaker 2: Mike Ganzy was runner up of mister Basketball in Ohio.
[12:54] Speaker 2: Now he's running the Philadelphia seventy six ers. Because the
[12:57] Speaker 2: seventy six ers now you can really start to buy buy.
[13:00] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's nice to have only four locked in members
[13:03] Speaker 5: of a starting five, right now. That's how you get
[13:04] Speaker 5: on that whiteboard.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, your Minnesota's your Phillies. Yeah natural, I mean
[13:10] Speaker 2: the youngest one is a weird one, you know.
[13:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think he's going back to Cleveland.
[13:18] Speaker 1: I would think, but hey, who knows, who knows what
[13:20] Speaker 1: this guy? And how long will this take that is
[13:21] Speaker 1: the question, will this take all summer?
[13:25] Speaker 3: It could?
[13:26] Speaker 2: We're all, you know around the bronze age. You turn
[13:29] Speaker 2: forty one, you want to go to a new city
[13:30] Speaker 2: that you've never been to, you know, that whole routine
[13:33] Speaker 2: thing of being a basketball player, because part of why
[13:36] Speaker 2: he's so good is that he's so good at his routine.
[13:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, play, You're.
[13:41] Speaker 2: Just going to tap into a new city. You go Cleveland, LA.
[13:47] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Cleveland, Miami, Cleveland, LA. And then I don't know, yeah,
[13:52] Speaker 2: but it's in Minneapolis.
[13:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, midlife crisis. I mean, you just ran your first
[13:57] Speaker 1: ten k for crying out Lout or Peace Street.
[14:00] Speaker 2: You don't like shake marathons.
[14:04] Speaker 1: He just wants to switch it up.
[14:05] Speaker 2: Switch it up and go to Minnesota after insulting a
[14:09] Speaker 2: smaller market like Memphis, much smaller than Minnesota. But but
[14:13] Speaker 2: he did that attel, HeSE Memphis hotels. But maybe he
[14:16] Speaker 2: likes Minnesota's I who's pitching? Is Alex Rodriguez pitching lebron
[14:21] Speaker 2: As Now you're the goat saying.
[14:24] Speaker 5: The Krazinski article that he likes the Timberwolves ownership group.
[14:30] Speaker 5: But I don't know what kind of connections. Mark Laurie
[14:32] Speaker 5: has off the court.
[14:34] Speaker 1: This is the exactly pitch.
[14:36] Speaker 2: He's got some good connections. Yeah, he does the food
[14:40] Speaker 2: delivery systems.
[14:41] Speaker 5: All right, put it on the white I'm.
[14:45] Speaker 1: Gonna say, but this is, honestly, this is not a
[14:47] Speaker 1: bad pitch idea. If you are the Minnesota Timberwolves, Like
[14:50] Speaker 1: I get the reasoning, like, yeah, we haven't won, man,
[14:53] Speaker 1: you go to State. I'm sorry, buddy, Like you're tied
[14:56] Speaker 1: to Corey. We get excited about the whole USA connection.
[14:59] Speaker 1: But like, like you said, it's not your team, it's
[15:01] Speaker 1: not your franchise, Like, okay, this is what you do.
[15:05] Speaker 3: If you're Minnesota.
[15:07] Speaker 1: Absolutely, I have no problems with the concept of the pitch.
[15:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little more, it's a little more apples
[15:14] Speaker 2: to apples. If he had only won in one organization,
[15:17] Speaker 2: like Michael, you know, if he had only just won
[15:20] Speaker 2: it with one, you want to want it the second one.
[15:21] Speaker 2: I hear what you're saying. It's a new organization. But
[15:23] Speaker 2: he's already won with three.
[15:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, just saying Miami or Golden State, like they have success,
[15:28] Speaker 1: they have championships, multiple championships. If you're a team like Minnesota,
[15:31] Speaker 1: this is what you say, Hey, man, they can't do it. Yeah, yeah,
[15:36] Speaker 1: all right, I mean, when's the last time they want
[15:38] Speaker 1: When we talked Kirby Pucket, we're talking.
[15:40] Speaker 2: About ninety one, Kirby Pucket running against it and running
[15:44] Speaker 2: against that wall. That's right, those fiberglass walls. Jack Morris
[15:48] Speaker 2: doing some stuff with that mustache. That series, he was great.
[15:51] Speaker 2: He pitched innings.
[15:53] Speaker 1: Oh that's incredible, right in game seven?
[15:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, game seven.
[15:58] Speaker 1: You would never see that nowadays, he'd be out by
[16:00] Speaker 1: the sixth inning.
[16:02] Speaker 5: Exactly. Get that closer in exactly? Who was the closer
[16:05] Speaker 5: for the Twins?
[16:06] Speaker 3: Wasn't Rick Aguilero?
[16:07] Speaker 5: Was it? It feels maybe he was a round back
[16:09] Speaker 5: then for sure.
[16:11] Speaker 3: And he went to Atlanta.
[16:12] Speaker 2: Oh no, that's Jeff Reard in my bad. I get
[16:16] Speaker 2: a right.
[16:17] Speaker 1: Sorry, all right, let's get into some other we can't
[16:20] Speaker 1: quick quickly.
[16:20] Speaker 2: Another old guy. I'm getting the more of the feeling
[16:23] Speaker 2: that wants to go back to his team. The DeMar
[16:26] Speaker 2: DeRozan rumors out there wants to go to the Toronto
[16:29] Speaker 2: rappor Hey, maybe perhaps to come up he'd have to
[16:32] Speaker 2: come off the bench, though, I would think, yeah, and Toronto,
[16:36] Speaker 2: and that's his role at this point. They need one
[16:40] Speaker 2: that would be nice to have a score come off
[16:42] Speaker 2: the bench. So yeah, you could see that his money
[16:45] Speaker 2: is not locked up and he's part of his contract
[16:49] Speaker 2: is guaranteed this next year. I could see a buy
[16:51] Speaker 2: out there for guys's almost thirty seven. Is gonna be
[16:53] Speaker 2: thirty seven going in to next season? Maybe you could see, hey,
[16:58] Speaker 2: I'm at the end here. Maybe I can do something
[17:00] Speaker 2: with the Toronto team that I used to be in
[17:03] Speaker 2: love with instead of Sacramento. That's why would you want
[17:05] Speaker 2: to stay there?
[17:06] Speaker 5: Yeah? I think he's non guaranteed, right, so they'll it
[17:08] Speaker 5: makes sense for the Kings also to cut ties with them.
[17:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, ten mil guaranteed of his twenty five.
[17:15] Speaker 1: What's the date on that decision?
[17:17] Speaker 3: Do you know? I think it's soon. I don't know.
[17:22] Speaker 2: I'll just make noise to kill team.
[17:26] Speaker 1: Teams can officially sign players to contracts beginning at twelve
[17:29] Speaker 1: oh one today July sixth here, So there'll be a
[17:33] Speaker 1: lot of like official you know news being like all
[17:37] Speaker 1: the stuff we've known, but like players signed because it's
[17:39] Speaker 1: all like reports and agrees to and it's like today
[17:41] Speaker 1: it all becomes official or a lot of it will
[17:44] Speaker 1: releast some things over the weekend. Yeah, we can pivot
[17:47] Speaker 1: to this. You know, these are smaller trades. But on Friday,
[17:51] Speaker 1: the Lakers traded center DeAndre Eaton to the Washington Wizards
[17:54] Speaker 1: for guard Jaden Hardy and two second round picks in
[17:57] Speaker 1: twenty thirty one and thirty to TKD. You have a
[18:01] Speaker 1: reaction to eight in to the Wizards too.
[18:03] Speaker 5: It's a minor ror, like a windy fingers for me, Oh, pinkies,
[18:07] Speaker 5: would you do that?
[18:10] Speaker 4: Not full fundy fingers.
[18:12] Speaker 2: But guys, yeah, it was interesting, right, You're like.
[18:14] Speaker 5: Okay, DeAndre a and the Lakers now don't have a
[18:17] Speaker 5: backup center. I've seemed like Eighton would be at least
[18:19] Speaker 5: a decent backup guy behind Walker Kessler. Then you look
[18:23] Speaker 5: at the Wizard it's like they do have sar Anthony
[18:27] Speaker 5: Davis and Tristan Vuksovic way down on the depth chart
[18:31] Speaker 5: as well. So I don't necessarily know how DeAndre Ayton
[18:34] Speaker 5: fits there. Does it mean Anthony Davis is potentially available,
[18:37] Speaker 5: as we've heard, and as he certainly feels like he
[18:41] Speaker 5: wants to be on the move. But I just thought
[18:44] Speaker 5: it was kind of interesting that the Lakers after like
[18:47] Speaker 5: he got about as good of a season as they
[18:48] Speaker 5: could have gotten out of DeAndre Ayton. Last year. He
[18:51] Speaker 5: showed his warts the way he always does, but he
[18:53] Speaker 5: produced for the team. They got him on a cheap
[18:56] Speaker 5: deal only eight mil I think this year, right, So
[18:58] Speaker 5: he could have stuck around and they need some size
[19:01] Speaker 5: on that team. Still a young dude, but apparently they said, no,
[19:03] Speaker 5: thank you, We'll take our chances with a Kevon Looney
[19:06] Speaker 5: or a Nick Rick or maybe a Plumbley or mark
[19:09] Speaker 5: Stein was even suggesting Jonas Van to the Lakers. He
[19:14] Speaker 5: was a potential Laker last season, didn't happen. I don't
[19:17] Speaker 5: know if he's even gonna be an NBA guy this
[19:19] Speaker 5: coming season because he apparently wanted to leave last year.
[19:22] Speaker 5: He didn't, but now that's still up in the air,
[19:24] Speaker 5: and maybe the Lakers come and save him.
[19:26] Speaker 4: So kind of unusual to see DeAndre and on the move.
[19:28] Speaker 2: I thought, yeah, I understand even from his perspective. You
[19:32] Speaker 2: go from playing hard as a starter too, now you're
[19:35] Speaker 2: gonna be the backup too.
[19:37] Speaker 5: Very very likely.
[19:37] Speaker 2: So Walker Kestler in Washington super interesting in that Anthony
[19:42] Speaker 2: Davis likes to be the four, and so you could
[19:44] Speaker 2: see DeAndrea and playing beside him, but you do have
[19:48] Speaker 2: a star there. Alex Aar is a guy that they
[19:51] Speaker 2: kind of, you know, not kind of they liked the guy,
[19:55] Speaker 2: but he did have off season surgery, so he will
[19:58] Speaker 2: come into camp bang up, even though he's supposed to
[20:00] Speaker 2: play the beginning of the season. So maybe Deandraton gets
[20:03] Speaker 2: the five start beside Anthony Davis, which seems so strange.
[20:10] Speaker 2: So Eighton wants to start, I imagine, But we have
[20:13] Speaker 2: our man Jake Fisher saying there's a chance that Ad,
[20:18] Speaker 2: eight and and Sar all start at the same time.
[20:20] Speaker 2: Come on, so that actually that they're going to play
[20:23] Speaker 2: at the same time. I know it sounds really feah,
[20:27] Speaker 2: but it's just a weird time. It's just a weird
[20:29] Speaker 2: team with Ad, Eighten and Trey, lots of veteran talent
[20:33] Speaker 2: and then a whole ton of young players. And we're
[20:36] Speaker 2: coming up to August sixth, talking dates, talking DeRozan dates.
[20:39] Speaker 2: With this Anthony Avis date is coming up. He can
[20:42] Speaker 2: be extended on August sixth, So what's happening there? This
[20:47] Speaker 2: is an interesting summer and the DeRozan deal actually getting
[20:50] Speaker 2: back to DeMar Derozen it only becomes guaranteed in January,
[20:53] Speaker 2: he makes ten MILLI no matter what, but at full
[20:56] Speaker 2: guaranteed on January tenth for the rest of that twenty
[20:59] Speaker 2: five million dollars. So if he's making a buyout deal,
[21:02] Speaker 2: I guess it's really only in terms of negotiation for
[21:07] Speaker 2: that fifteen point seven, which is the balance. So you know,
[21:10] Speaker 2: give him a few go sign somewhere else for a minimum,
[21:13] Speaker 2: you take a little bit less.
[21:15] Speaker 3: So there we go.
[21:16] Speaker 1: H My only thoughts on eight. And it does feel
[21:18] Speaker 1: like a bit of a low risk move for the Wizards,
[21:20] Speaker 1: Like you guys said, guaranteed salary of just basically eight
[21:22] Speaker 1: million with one year remaining, and yeah, with the Sar injury,
[21:27] Speaker 1: and they say he's going to be good to go
[21:28] Speaker 1: by the start of the season, but you also have
[21:31] Speaker 1: ad whether he's there or not, he's gonna probably miss time.
[21:34] Speaker 1: So decent work here, at least as a backup center
[21:37] Speaker 1: and a guy that can start in a pinch. He
[21:40] Speaker 1: played a lot for the Lakers. You're right, TK. It
[21:42] Speaker 1: was like not a bad year. Really, it was classic eating.
[21:45] Speaker 1: It was like the average of twelve and a half
[21:46] Speaker 1: points during seventy two starts, shot the ball extremely high.
[21:50] Speaker 1: Of course, had a great impact in the first round
[21:53] Speaker 1: against the Rockets, like he was pretty damn good in
[21:56] Speaker 1: that series. We talked about it like it was a
[21:58] Speaker 1: big reason why they maybe beat the Rockets, and then
[22:01] Speaker 1: it was classic eat and against the Thunder it was
[22:02] Speaker 1: like it was horrible. He was really really bad shot
[22:06] Speaker 1: the ball as a big forty seven points per game,
[22:08] Speaker 1: like no good. Didn't we have like a certain point
[22:11] Speaker 1: like I think just JJ Reddick doesn't love DeAndre Ayton
[22:14] Speaker 1: and his type of play, like there was probably frustration,
[22:16] Speaker 1: I think so there was. Yeah, and they get two
[22:18] Speaker 1: second round picks back, helps them replenish a little bit
[22:22] Speaker 1: draft assets, which they have next to none, especially after
[22:25] Speaker 1: the Walker Kessler all, I know, their second round picks.
[22:27] Speaker 1: These things fly around like candy, but it's not nothing
[22:31] Speaker 1: at least in a trade moving forward if you're trying
[22:33] Speaker 1: to help the team. But yeah, they got work to
[22:34] Speaker 1: do here getting a backup big.
[22:36] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[22:37] Speaker 2: I remember on Amazon Prime, you know how he Donnis
[22:40] Speaker 2: Haslam talks guys up. He talked up DeAndre Ayton. He
[22:43] Speaker 2: was trying to talk him up, and you could see
[22:45] Speaker 2: JJ Reddick doing the same thing, trying to get him
[22:48] Speaker 2: to be himself. But again, he played a lot. So
[22:50] Speaker 2: it's gonna be an interesting year, especially because you want
[22:53] Speaker 2: to play A. J. Debantsa a ton at the small
[22:55] Speaker 2: forward spot.
[22:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, you would hope so.
[22:58] Speaker 2: And well yeah, so all these young guys, it's it's
[23:01] Speaker 2: a big year for a lot of these young guys
[23:03] Speaker 2: in terms of their future in Washington. A lot of
[23:06] Speaker 2: contracts could be extended, are coming up. But I'm sure
[23:09] Speaker 2: we'll be watching AJ Debantsa on Thursday when he plays
[23:12] Speaker 2: Darren Peterson Thursday, and then we'll be here on Friday.
[23:15] Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll be talking about it.
[23:17] Speaker 1: And Darren Pearson already underway in the other summer leagues
[23:20] Speaker 1: before the Big Vegas Summer League had a good game.
[23:22] Speaker 1: A fun note here before we move on. The Wizards
[23:24] Speaker 1: now have three number one overall picks on their roster.
[23:27] Speaker 1: That's always fun is you've got eton number one pick,
[23:31] Speaker 1: Anthony Davis is there number one pick? And then of
[23:33] Speaker 1: course the new one in AJ Debantza.
[23:35] Speaker 5: Did they have did they have three other Lakers last year?
[23:37] Speaker 5: Was that right? They had Lebron and they had Ayton.
[23:41] Speaker 1: Who's the third round?
[23:42] Speaker 5: I'm trying to I don't know the way we thought
[23:45] Speaker 5: about that. We've had we've had before. Yeah, it wasn't Ayton,
[23:49] Speaker 5: or it wasn't.
[23:51] Speaker 1: Wiggins cat and Anthony Bennett, right.
[23:53] Speaker 5: Wigan's cat Anthony Bennett. Yeah, classic Lakers had it like
[23:58] Speaker 5: back in the day Worthy Kareem in Magic. They might
[24:03] Speaker 5: be had a fourth as well. Michael Thompson was on
[24:05] Speaker 5: the bench.
[24:06] Speaker 1: Wow, good call. All right. Another deal from late last week,
[24:10] Speaker 1: the Charlotte Hornets acquired Dorian Phinney Smith and three second
[24:14] Speaker 1: round picks from the Rockets for Houston. The trade opens
[24:17] Speaker 1: up roster flexibility and creates a thirteen million dollar trade exception.
[24:20] Speaker 1: But this is DFS and those picks going to Charlotte
[24:24] Speaker 1: tray really one hundred percent salary dump here for Houston,
[24:28] Speaker 1: I mean, gets them out of the first a print,
[24:30] Speaker 1: end the luxury text.
[24:31] Speaker 5: One hundred percent salary dumb for Houston. And I guess
[24:33] Speaker 5: DFS makes a little bit more sense on the Hornets
[24:38] Speaker 5: than he does on the Rockets. Like a down season,
[24:40] Speaker 5: I thought for Dorian Phinney Smith, he was coming off
[24:42] Speaker 5: an injury, just never looked super comfortable, never established himself
[24:45] Speaker 5: in the rotation with Houston. But now you can go
[24:47] Speaker 5: to a Charlotte team which is consciously taking a step
[24:50] Speaker 5: back this year and be one of the veterans on
[24:53] Speaker 5: that team. And if he's able to get some three
[24:54] Speaker 5: point shots going, if he's able to rediscover his stroke
[24:57] Speaker 5: from outside, like, he could probably play on this team
[24:59] Speaker 5: because it feels like this year's Hornets team is all
[25:01] Speaker 5: about spacing and chuck and threes.
[25:04] Speaker 4: That's everybody they brought.
[25:05] Speaker 5: In is kind of an in the middle size guy
[25:09] Speaker 5: who's gonna chuck threes.
[25:11] Speaker 4: So I can see why DFS is there.
[25:12] Speaker 5: Plus, the Hornets now have twenty second round picks in
[25:15] Speaker 5: the next seven drafts, So anybody who's projected to go
[25:19] Speaker 5: like thirty one through forty in the next seven seasons,
[25:23] Speaker 5: if the Hornet's like one of those guys, they can
[25:24] Speaker 5: get them. Yeah, because he just chuck a couple of
[25:27] Speaker 5: picks in here. We want to draft thirty third. Now
[25:29] Speaker 5: we got our own Leonard Miller.
[25:32] Speaker 2: And they got a lot of contracts that can bundle
[25:34] Speaker 2: together if they have a star that's available. That's right, right,
[25:39] Speaker 2: because their highest paid player is Nazrita twenty three million. Wow,
[25:42] Speaker 2: that's it. But they have one hundred and sixty eight
[25:46] Speaker 2: million combined with so many types of contracts are so
[25:50] Speaker 2: many numbers, so they can do that. But Dorrian Phantey Smith, Yeah,
[25:54] Speaker 2: off here right. We know the Houston Rockets love old guys.
[25:58] Speaker 2: That whole organization old guys. And unfortunately Dorian Phoeney Smith
[26:01] Speaker 2: looked like he was getting older. He wasn't that guy
[26:05] Speaker 2: that they signed. And yeah, hopefully he can bounce back
[26:09] Speaker 2: a little bit because that was not last year was.
[26:11] Speaker 1: Like completely right off because of the ankle surgery. Yeah,
[26:13] Speaker 1: and then obviously gets in there and it didn't look
[26:15] Speaker 1: all that great. But I'm with you on the Hornets man,
[26:17] Speaker 1: Like you brought up the draft assets tray, like they
[26:20] Speaker 1: have ten first round picks too, right, in addition to
[26:22] Speaker 1: twenty second round picks. The financial flexibility they are, they're
[26:26] Speaker 1: set up to be a player if they want in
[26:29] Speaker 1: any sort of transaction really over the years to come
[26:32] Speaker 1: here the way they're currently constructed. Now, we'll see how
[26:34] Speaker 1: they Yeah, it's an interesting thought. Do they fall off
[26:37] Speaker 1: this year a little bit or they try to stay
[26:39] Speaker 1: the same. Obviously, give the keys Toknipple and Brandon Miller.
[26:43] Speaker 1: They've made moves and the naserit and keeping Kobe White.
[26:46] Speaker 1: But we went through it the other day, like the
[26:49] Speaker 1: East is suddenly better loaded or better. Yeah, but they're
[26:53] Speaker 1: probably in a good spot here right now, right now.
[26:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, I had so many first round picks coming up
[26:59] Speaker 2: in this next year. They've got their own. They've got
[27:00] Speaker 2: Miami protected, but should go to them because Miami should
[27:04] Speaker 2: be good. They've got Dallas is also protected, so they
[27:07] Speaker 2: can start to bundle things together. It's a different front office.
[27:10] Speaker 2: Jeff Peterson has made this a different front office. But
[27:12] Speaker 2: hopefully Dorian can do something where he's known more for
[27:16] Speaker 2: that than winning Weggie of the Year for the Starters
[27:19] Speaker 2: on NBA TV in twenty seventeen.
[27:21] Speaker 5: Wow, I always bring a movie, I think, so, first thing.
[27:24] Speaker 3: I definitely do.
[27:25] Speaker 2: I mean he accepted the award, he brought up, pulled
[27:28] Speaker 2: up the starty and did a little speech sent it in.
[27:31] Speaker 2: What else do you know Dorian Fridney Smith for I
[27:33] Speaker 2: mean traded to a late one.
[27:35] Speaker 3: Yah. Yeah, good point.
[27:36] Speaker 5: He was close friends with Luca Dantic during their tenure
[27:39] Speaker 5: in Dallas. That would be the only other thing, because
[27:41] Speaker 5: like I was looking at his basketball reference paids of
[27:43] Speaker 5: course to kind of refresh myself, and you can't even
[27:46] Speaker 5: like figure out any sort of reason why he wears
[27:49] Speaker 5: his numbers. I'm sure he does wear him, but he
[27:51] Speaker 5: went ten, twenty eight, seventeen and two. Holy, we don't
[27:54] Speaker 5: have any sort of like connection at all to be
[27:57] Speaker 5: twenty eight. That's a weird one. That's Marshall Fall.
[28:01] Speaker 3: I also remember his nickname was.
[28:03] Speaker 1: Dodo, But yeah, I just immediately think of Daily Fantasy
[28:08] Speaker 1: Sports anytime I see his name. That's all I think about.
[28:13] Speaker 1: And he's also he's older than I always think like
[28:16] Speaker 1: he's thirty three. I mean, obviously I'm ten plus years older,
[28:19] Speaker 1: but you know, in the NBA world, I don't think
[28:21] Speaker 1: him as that old. And maybe maybe it's because these
[28:23] Speaker 1: last two years sort of especially last year with the
[28:25] Speaker 1: ankleer injury and then he bounced around right the year
[28:28] Speaker 1: before that he played for two teams.
[28:30] Speaker 4: He was a net Laker.
[28:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so it's like it's sort of a forgotten
[28:34] Speaker 1: year to me at least. But maybe I like this
[28:37] Speaker 1: is like they got second round picks two for taking
[28:40] Speaker 1: him on. I think he could, if he can bounce
[28:42] Speaker 1: back from injury, help the Hornets for sure. I don't
[28:45] Speaker 1: think he's washed or anything like that. I wouldn't think so.
[28:47] Speaker 1: So we'll see. Uh here's a minor move. The Knicks
[28:49] Speaker 1: agreed to a one year, three point nine million dollar
[28:51] Speaker 1: contract with veteran center Andre Drummond, the Big Penguin. The
[28:56] Speaker 1: move comes on the heels of Mitchell Robinson reaching a
[28:58] Speaker 1: much bigger deal with the Celtics. Mitchell's departure was expected
[29:02] Speaker 1: after James Dolan said he wouldn't allow his team to
[29:04] Speaker 1: go into the luxury tax second apron. So TK there
[29:08] Speaker 1: trying to replace Mitch Ruminson with Andre Drummon. Yep, sort
[29:13] Speaker 1: of makes sense when you think about what they do.
[29:15] Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. They said, we still want an offensive rebounder
[29:18] Speaker 5: and we need a backup big man for Carl Anthony Towns.
[29:21] Speaker 5: The other guy who was rumored to be going to
[29:23] Speaker 5: New York is Kevon Looney. I think I would prefer
[29:26] Speaker 5: Drummond over Looney, though they're both a little bit worse
[29:30] Speaker 5: than Mitchell Robinson. Yeah, a little bit older as well.
[29:32] Speaker 5: But you can't undervalue the stretchiness that Andre Drummond now
[29:36] Speaker 5: brings to the New York Knicks. First it was corner threes.
[29:39] Speaker 5: Now he's there with Karl Anthony Towns. He's going to
[29:41] Speaker 5: learn to shoot above the break freeze. Best shooting front
[29:45] Speaker 5: court in NBA history, Cat and Drummond.
[29:50] Speaker 3: Damn.
[29:52] Speaker 2: Last year was a huge year for him, shooting it
[29:55] Speaker 2: for age coming out of nowhere in year thirteen. Of
[29:58] Speaker 2: his shooting by far the most threes was year one
[30:02] Speaker 2: through twelve. If you add him up, all those threes
[30:04] Speaker 2: were way lower than what he did last year. So yeah,
[30:08] Speaker 2: but also dunking the ball, I think more importantly, Yeah,
[30:11] Speaker 2: just dunking it like Mitchell Robinson can.
[30:14] Speaker 3: Uh.
[30:14] Speaker 2: Definitely a healthier guy than Kevon Looney. Kevon Looney was
[30:17] Speaker 2: really hurt last year. Zion Williamson fooled me coming into
[30:21] Speaker 2: his preseason press conference saying, yeah, Kevon Looney, man, it's
[30:24] Speaker 2: good to have him around, like he's my vet. And
[30:26] Speaker 2: then I mean Looney didn't play, he played twenty games,
[30:30] Speaker 2: was a twenty one something really really low. So yeah,
[30:33] Speaker 2: Drummond even older than Loony. Drummond is Doriy and Finney
[30:37] Speaker 2: Smith's age. I mean, he's he seems like way older
[30:40] Speaker 2: than Dorian Finnish totally, but he's only going to be
[30:43] Speaker 2: thirty three this coming season.
[30:45] Speaker 3: So it's a better move than Loony.
[30:47] Speaker 2: It's not Mitchell Robinson's Mitchell Robinson light, but it's better
[30:49] Speaker 2: than loony.
[30:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, Mitchell Robinson recovered twenty three percent of the Knicks
[30:54] Speaker 1: missus when he was on the court, twenty three percent
[30:57] Speaker 1: of their own missus. That you know, if he had
[31:00] Speaker 1: played the requisite minutes and games and all that, that
[31:04] Speaker 1: would have like shattered Dennis Rodman's single season record for
[31:07] Speaker 1: offensive rebound rate, which is seventeen point two percent, which
[31:11] Speaker 1: is huge. But that's how great mind Ronson is just
[31:14] Speaker 1: gobbling up offensive rebounds, and that's what the Knicks like.
[31:17] Speaker 1: That's part of their offense that they obsess over the
[31:21] Speaker 1: possession game. So they're hoping Drummond can replicate it a
[31:23] Speaker 1: little bit. Hollinger also notes that the one year minimum
[31:26] Speaker 1: for Andre Drummond means the Knicks won't need to tip
[31:29] Speaker 1: into their taxpayer exception to fill the backup center slot.
[31:33] Speaker 1: They could bring back Jordan Clarkson. It could add one
[31:36] Speaker 1: more veteran and still comfortably stay below the second apron.
[31:39] Speaker 1: So you know, they're looking at the books there as well.
[31:41] Speaker 1: With Mitchell Robinson getting paid what he got paid, this
[31:43] Speaker 1: is obviously just much cheaper. But yeah, I don't think
[31:46] Speaker 1: he's going to Drummond is going to be able to
[31:48] Speaker 1: give you one hundred percent of what miche Rumminson gave you.
[31:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know what.
[31:52] Speaker 1: Percentage they'd be happy with seventy five percent. They're probably like,
[31:55] Speaker 1: all right, great for the costs, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
[31:59] Speaker 5: Unfortunately forampionship teams, you gotta cycle through bench guys. Yeah,
[32:02] Speaker 5: so you lose a Mitchell Robinson.
[32:04] Speaker 1: That's exactly right.
[32:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, Jim didn't want to pay.
[32:06] Speaker 1: For him, and we learned h Mitchell Robinson over the
[32:10] Speaker 1: weekend revealed why or how he fractured his hand just
[32:13] Speaker 1: before the NBA Finals. He had a lengthy post and
[32:16] Speaker 1: it was like a moment of frustration to use his
[32:18] Speaker 1: words about a personal matter with like an accident in
[32:22] Speaker 1: his family, and he basically banged his hand on this truck.
[32:25] Speaker 1: It involved his truck. We were right about that. And
[32:29] Speaker 1: then so he had surgery on the pinky there before
[32:31] Speaker 1: Game one. It sort of like doesn't matter because they
[32:34] Speaker 1: went on to win the championship. Couldn't been a much
[32:35] Speaker 1: bigger story if he couldn't have played or they fall short.
[32:38] Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a great it's a I'm laughing because
[32:42] Speaker 1: it's a crazy post of like what he's explaining of
[32:45] Speaker 1: why he injured.
[32:46] Speaker 2: It absolutely.
[32:47] Speaker 1: It was scary of why but it was. There's all
[32:49] Speaker 1: these funny, weird details in it and stuff like that.
[32:52] Speaker 1: Let's just say it's very Mitchell Robinson ESK.
[32:54] Speaker 2: But he's on Boston and I love my truck, right,
[32:57] Speaker 2: That's why I mean funny details in my.
[33:02] Speaker 5: Stop the truck's fall though.
[33:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, other moves we just learned here before going live.
[33:07] Speaker 1: That restricted free agent Quinton Post has agreed to a
[33:10] Speaker 1: three year, thirty million dollar deal with the Grizzlies so
[33:13] Speaker 1: the Warriors could match. Yeah, TVD on that. Josha Kogi
[33:18] Speaker 1: agreed to a two year, twelve million dollar deal with
[33:19] Speaker 1: the Jazz. Trey Lyles, good old Canadian boy, agrees to
[33:22] Speaker 1: a one year deal with the Wolves, and the Clippers
[33:25] Speaker 1: are bringing back Jordan Miller on a three year, fifteen
[33:27] Speaker 1: point three million dollars deal. Any thoughts in any of
[33:31] Speaker 1: those smaller transactions.
[33:32] Speaker 2: Trey Lyles back from Real Madrid, where he played last season,
[33:36] Speaker 2: although he's from Saskatoon, Saskatoon can basically Minnesota pretty much.
[33:43] Speaker 2: When he goes back to Saskatoon, he's got to say
[33:45] Speaker 2: to his mom, we're not in Madrid anymore. Month that's
[33:48] Speaker 2: the that's my My, We're not in Saskatoon anymore. Mom,
[33:53] Speaker 2: We're in Truner now. We don't tuck in our blousees. Mom.
[33:57] Speaker 2: That's Agoin Nick Krawl show, that episode.
[34:00] Speaker 1: Of the.
[34:04] Speaker 2: Anyway, Jordan Miller goes to the Clippers. They got to
[34:07] Speaker 2: pay people. That's that's it. The number one numbers wise,
[34:10] Speaker 2: they're not even at the salary floor. They got Garland
[34:13] Speaker 2: at forty two, Ingrim at forty, big drop off, Derek
[34:16] Speaker 2: Jones Junior at ten. So they got to pay people.
[34:18] Speaker 2: So Jordan Miller, Yeah, come get your money, Okay, Josh
[34:22] Speaker 2: Kogie Jess, they're gonna be good. I guess if you
[34:24] Speaker 2: got it?
[34:27] Speaker 5: Yeah, what even gonna say? Oh Benedict Math and he's
[34:30] Speaker 5: still a free agent, right ah er, yeah, good call.
[34:33] Speaker 5: They'll probably quent and grimes him, Like just wait until
[34:35] Speaker 5: last sec and see if there's anybody out there for you,
[34:37] Speaker 5: and if not, we're gonna get you on a cheap deal.
[34:39] Speaker 1: Obviously waiting on Peyton Watson still Denver Nuggets restricted free agent.
[34:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, then they want him. Apparently Clippers want him.
[34:46] Speaker 5: And who was reporting was this a mark Stein joint
[34:49] Speaker 5: that said that basically, uh, the Nuggets will match anything,
[34:53] Speaker 5: but they're also open to a sign and trade. Yeah,
[34:55] Speaker 5: it's like, well whatever, let's see what you think.
[34:58] Speaker 1: Yes, and we're waiting on during as well.
[35:01] Speaker 5: We are waiting on Jay Lender and Poop.
[35:04] Speaker 1: You know, there's been a lot of talk about a
[35:05] Speaker 1: potential sign and trade too well with what they're going
[35:08] Speaker 1: to do there, So we'll see. It's a restricted waiting
[35:12] Speaker 1: game here. All right, let's take a break when we
[35:14] Speaker 1: come back, beach stepping.
[35:17] Speaker 5: The biggest stage in world soccer is here, and every
[35:20] Speaker 5: goal changes everything. And now Fandal is giving you a
[35:24] Speaker 5: reason root for every single one introducing every goal pays
[35:28] Speaker 5: bet on a match and get bonus bets for every
[35:30] Speaker 5: goal scored in that match. That's right, More goals mean
[35:33] Speaker 5: more bonus bets, and all you have to do is
[35:35] Speaker 5: turn on your token. The USA is slight.
[35:38] Speaker 4: Favorite tonight against the Belgian team.
[35:41] Speaker 1: Were getting a little help there.
[35:48] Speaker 4: Flow ball again. He's a plus one forty five to
[35:51] Speaker 4: score tonight.
[35:52] Speaker 5: Wow, plus one thousand for the brace two goals. But
[35:57] Speaker 5: apparently now Belgium is giving the opportunity to.
[36:00] Speaker 4: Appeal the appeal.
[36:02] Speaker 5: Wow, we're the game starts and it's almost eleven am
[36:05] Speaker 5: Eastern Conference to Eastern Conference.
[36:08] Speaker 4: It's down here on the East coast.
[36:10] Speaker 5: Games of eight, so what they got nine hours to
[36:12] Speaker 5: figure it out?
[36:14] Speaker 2: Weird?
[36:15] Speaker 5: What a weird world couldn't believe this guy's back in.
[36:19] Speaker 4: I love it because they jopped him.
[36:21] Speaker 2: That should have right.
[36:22] Speaker 4: Everybody knows it.
[36:23] Speaker 5: Donovan knows it.
[36:24] Speaker 2: It's a lot on Ibrahimovich also said it.
[36:27] Speaker 6: He knows it.
[36:28] Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, I'm glad he's back. It should have happened.
[36:30] Speaker 2: Quicker is what he said. He didn't get He didn't
[36:32] Speaker 2: get into the politics.
[36:33] Speaker 1: He just said I agree with that.
[36:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, because it was an odd call.
[36:38] Speaker 5: Period, call us a us a visit FanDuel dot com
[36:41] Speaker 5: slash podcast to get started.
[36:42] Speaker 4: Now let there be goals on FanDuel.
[36:45] Speaker 1: Do you like your chances tonight?
[36:46] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[36:47] Speaker 5: Okay, oh yeah, got Baligant back. I mean they were
[36:49] Speaker 5: gonna win without Balligan, but now it's a guarantee.
[36:52] Speaker 1: Okay.
[36:53] Speaker 2: So they were slight favorites, now were they?
[36:56] Speaker 4: I hadn't looked up.
[36:58] Speaker 1: I think they were any favorites.
[37:00] Speaker 2: Oh okay, I mean.
[37:01] Speaker 5: Okays one twenty eight currently in Belgium a plus one oh.
[37:05] Speaker 2: Four, so it's close.
[37:06] Speaker 1: That's an eight o'clocker. Yeah, you watch any of Mexico.
[37:11] Speaker 1: I watched it all stressful.
[37:13] Speaker 5: Yeah, I love seem FIFA going out of their way
[37:15] Speaker 5: to try and rig things for the home nation because
[37:18] Speaker 5: they're like, sorry, Mexico, I see that you're down off
[37:21] Speaker 5: of two brutal goals that they conceded back to back,
[37:24] Speaker 5: basically almost the exact same goals, just kind of forgetting
[37:28] Speaker 5: to play defense there for about one minute.
[37:31] Speaker 3: So then the.
[37:32] Speaker 5: FIFA referee was like, all right, we're getting one of
[37:34] Speaker 5: these English guys out of here. We're going to give
[37:36] Speaker 5: you as many possible opportunities to tie it up. But
[37:40] Speaker 5: apparently just crossing it into the middle the shorter team
[37:43] Speaker 5: wasn't working.
[37:43] Speaker 1: They tried that like thirty five times, try something.
[37:46] Speaker 5: Else, go twenty minutes across.
[37:49] Speaker 4: If this works.
[37:50] Speaker 1: It was very exciting, but it was exciting. It was
[37:52] Speaker 1: very exciting, very exciting. Didn't go as well for Canada
[37:55] Speaker 1: there on Saturday. No needed to score that one in
[37:58] Speaker 1: the first half when we completely played them for the
[38:01] Speaker 1: first half. They all played Morocco, and then second half
[38:04] Speaker 1: started and then it was rough and then it got
[38:07] Speaker 1: out of hand because you got a press press press
[38:08] Speaker 1: to tie it up and then you just give up
[38:09] Speaker 1: the transition. It was, it's okay, hey, hell of her performance.
[38:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, when those stats came up that said shots and
[38:16] Speaker 2: shots on goal over the first whatever it was thirty minutes,
[38:19] Speaker 2: it was all Canada zeros.
[38:22] Speaker 1: But you gotta find the back of the net.
[38:25] Speaker 3: Got to a right, yeah, you know.
[38:27] Speaker 2: Otherwise yeah, well, unless you want to get the penalties.
[38:29] Speaker 3: You know.
[38:31] Speaker 1: All right, let's hit the beach. Let's do it.
[38:34] Speaker 2: The rockets, I count it.
[38:38] Speaker 1: We got that ship shut down.
[38:40] Speaker 2: Blah blah blah. You got that.
[38:47] Speaker 1: We are on the beach. Reading your emails and your tweets.
[38:50] Speaker 1: The best way to email them in is to know
[38:53] Speaker 1: dunks I n C at gmail dot com. All right,
[38:57] Speaker 1: send them in, especially now that we've hit the summer,
[38:59] Speaker 1: a lot of beat Step in here for the boys.
[39:02] Speaker 1: First one, let's get into it. AO, no dumbs, boys.
[39:07] Speaker 1: I want to share my Clipper Bros hand gesture to
[39:10] Speaker 1: every fan listening and watching right now. Okay, hold on,
[39:14] Speaker 1: follow along here. You heard it here. First, that's a
[39:16] Speaker 1: point down, have a great time. That's an okay turn up.
[39:19] Speaker 1: That's a bit of a hang loose, love you guys.
[39:21] Speaker 1: That's the hearts with the two hands awesome thumbs up.
[39:25] Speaker 5: Okay, thumbs up.
[39:27] Speaker 1: You know that works, So now you can just start
[39:29] Speaker 1: doing it without saying it, and then people will know
[39:31] Speaker 1: what you're doing. Okay, the actual question here a signature
[39:35] Speaker 1: celebration move for every classic episode. Okay, my question. The
[39:39] Speaker 1: phrase can you tell the story of the NBA season
[39:42] Speaker 1: with this player? Is often used to measure a player's impact.
[39:46] Speaker 1: Now let's apply that to the twenty five to twenty
[39:48] Speaker 1: six season, but in reverse. Who's a player you can
[39:51] Speaker 1: tell the story of last season without? Must be a
[39:55] Speaker 1: significant active player. To give you an example, Klay Thompson,
[39:59] Speaker 1: He's a top seventy six player. Nice catch, by the way,
[40:02] Speaker 1: very nice catch, but was completely forgotten this season with
[40:05] Speaker 1: the Mavericks listening every day since since Trey's hair beret
[40:09] Speaker 1: from the starters days. That's from cheat all the way
[40:12] Speaker 1: in the Philippines. So a player you can tell the
[40:15] Speaker 1: story of last season without, but it's got to be
[40:19] Speaker 1: a significant player.
[40:20] Speaker 2: I went way more significant than Klay Thompson. Okay, tell
[40:24] Speaker 2: me if I'm wrong. Zion Williamson number one on my listen, yeah,
[40:29] Speaker 2: number one with a bullet. Now, if we're talking preseason
[40:34] Speaker 2: he should be talked about. I was so Joe Dumar
[40:37] Speaker 2: sold him on the new ownership, sorry, the new front
[40:40] Speaker 2: office I should say in New Orleans. But then he
[40:44] Speaker 2: came out and a dud from the get go. I
[40:47] Speaker 2: mean he kind of There was kind of some things
[40:49] Speaker 2: written about Zion Wimbson at the beginning because they lost
[40:51] Speaker 2: three games by thirty or more points in their first six,
[40:55] Speaker 2: so that was bad and they wrote people wrote about it,
[40:57] Speaker 2: so people talked about it. But they got out to
[40:59] Speaker 2: what a three and twenty two starts, so it was over.
[41:02] Speaker 2: It was over that talking about Sien you know. Yeah,
[41:05] Speaker 2: and maybe the season's different with the John Samury, But
[41:08] Speaker 2: will you think about anything regarding Zion Willim sent the
[41:12] Speaker 2: twenty five twenty six season. There's too much in the West.
[41:14] Speaker 2: They're just one of those teams that wasn't even the
[41:16] Speaker 2: worst of the worst, so they kind of just like
[41:19] Speaker 2: they're floating in that stinky category. It's just people. You
[41:22] Speaker 2: just people. You forget about it, you know. Under the
[41:25] Speaker 2: plan again.
[41:27] Speaker 1: And pick either was a part of it too, because
[41:29] Speaker 1: we wouldn't even talk about them like, well, at least
[41:31] Speaker 1: they're bad and maybe they'll hit the pick.
[41:33] Speaker 2: But Yeah, twenty six and fifty six overall is bad.
[41:37] Speaker 2: But I guess if you're if you're like if you
[41:39] Speaker 2: were the Piston, like the Pistons of a couple of
[41:42] Speaker 2: years ago, when you're you know, fifteen and sixty seven,
[41:44] Speaker 2: maybe there's more talk.
[41:46] Speaker 3: But anyway, how bad? Yeah, how bad you are?
[41:49] Speaker 1: Well? I love go back and count the number of
[41:52] Speaker 1: times on our podcast, especially U Tre I know led
[41:54] Speaker 1: it a couple of times myself, Like, don't worry. The
[41:56] Speaker 1: Pelicans will not run this back, right, They can't possibly
[41:59] Speaker 1: do this again. They'll they'll trade one or two or
[42:02] Speaker 1: three or whatever. They'll take a different direction. Have you
[42:05] Speaker 1: seen what they've done this off season? They signed DeAndre Jordan. Yeh,
[42:11] Speaker 1: keep them around, great locker room guy. That's all they've done.
[42:13] Speaker 5: That's all they've done.
[42:15] Speaker 1: So right now they're showing us we are going to
[42:17] Speaker 1: do the exact same thing that you said we would.
[42:20] Speaker 5: Apparently they lowered their price on Trey Murphy from four
[42:23] Speaker 5: to three first round picks.
[42:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, and they, as I said to Jehan, Tay Murray,
[42:29] Speaker 2: he'll start the season with the team unlike last year.
[42:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what they're so, that's what that's.
[42:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly okay, But Trey Murphy talk will be up
[42:39] Speaker 2: to very soon, I imagine, because he's the guy who's
[42:42] Speaker 2: going to get back the most, even more than sign webs.
[42:46] Speaker 1: Oh yes, yes.
[42:47] Speaker 2: At this point. So as soon as it goes poorly,
[42:51] Speaker 2: especially in the Western Conference, it ain't gonna be easy
[42:54] Speaker 2: with you know, a strengthen Portland, strengthen Utah, those teams
[42:58] Speaker 2: that they're sort of in the round of the conversations
[43:02] Speaker 2: will start pretty early in the season, I imagine.
[43:04] Speaker 5: Trade.
[43:04] Speaker 1: Do you have any other names?
[43:06] Speaker 5: Anthony Davis played twenty games for the Mavericks, completely forgettable.
[43:11] Speaker 5: They went ten and ten in the twenty games that
[43:13] Speaker 5: he played. He was part of a three team trade
[43:15] Speaker 5: between the MAVs, the Wizards, and of course you remember
[43:20] Speaker 5: right nets No, the Hornets. Hornets, he got traded for
[43:23] Speaker 5: a bag of beans. Nobody did anything on their new teams. Literally,
[43:26] Speaker 5: Anthony Davis didn't suit up for the Wizards, might never
[43:29] Speaker 5: play for him after the trade. The other guys he
[43:32] Speaker 5: got traded for Dante Exam, Jayden, Hardy, D'Angelo, Russell, Tyas Jones,
[43:36] Speaker 5: Malachi Branham, Marvin Bagley, A. J. Johnson, and Chris Middleton
[43:41] Speaker 5: it's just like twenty guys who all got traded for
[43:44] Speaker 5: each other and who cares. So I got Anthony Davis. Yeah,
[43:48] Speaker 5: he was part of two teams last year and it
[43:50] Speaker 5: didn't matter at all. Right.
[43:52] Speaker 1: My only pushback on Anthony Davis, it's a great one,
[43:55] Speaker 1: is didn't he have I thought he had one monster game?
[43:59] Speaker 4: He did have one?
[44:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, you did, right?
[44:03] Speaker 5: An think I remember seventeen or something like that.
[44:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yet thirty five and seventeen. Okay, that's got
[44:08] Speaker 1: to be the game against Pelicans.
[44:10] Speaker 2: But I thought you would remember him for what you
[44:13] Speaker 2: said about him and Cooper Flag that they didn't like
[44:16] Speaker 2: each other.
[44:17] Speaker 5: You remember that for sure? For sure, I do remember
[44:23] Speaker 5: saying that. I think it's true.
[44:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well, let's hear from you guys. That's
[44:26] Speaker 1: a fun one for everybody out there who's a player.
[44:28] Speaker 1: You can tell the story of last season without let
[44:31] Speaker 1: us know next.
[44:32] Speaker 3: One, next one?
[44:33] Speaker 2: Here. Hey, some layups heard your episode talking about the
[44:37] Speaker 2: NBA Cup being at Butler, and I have to push
[44:39] Speaker 2: back against the slander of indie restaurants. If you truly
[44:43] Speaker 2: respect the Cup, you'll be attending the finale. And I
[44:47] Speaker 2: have every restaurant food wreck you could ever need. My question,
[44:51] Speaker 2: what is your favorite genre of food and which NBA
[44:54] Speaker 2: players personality slash play style matches your genre of food.
[44:59] Speaker 2: My favorite a Mexican and as a Casz fan, I'll
[45:02] Speaker 2: go Spider, Donnie Mitch, Consistent, full of options, and best
[45:07] Speaker 2: enjoyed when they've got a little pop, love the show,
[45:10] Speaker 2: salute the cup, and go Cavs. That's from nash KOI
[45:14] Speaker 2: so two sided question here, favorite genre of food and
[45:19] Speaker 2: how would a player's personality apply to that food?
[45:21] Speaker 3: We got some.
[45:22] Speaker 1: This is a tough one I do before we get
[45:24] Speaker 1: into answering the question. Indianapolis food, we did go. I
[45:28] Speaker 1: mean they all blend together, so I'm actually asking you guys.
[45:31] Speaker 1: It was super snowy, ye, and we went to a
[45:34] Speaker 1: chicken sandwich place or like a hot chicken place right
[45:38] Speaker 1: in Indianapolis. Yeah, and it was like it was cool.
[45:42] Speaker 1: I had a bit of a vibe and my food
[45:43] Speaker 1: was good. What the hell was the name of it? Okay,
[45:47] Speaker 1: but that was in Indianapolis. Yeah, it was a DJ
[45:52] Speaker 1: she had like a NASCAR jack. It was great.
[45:56] Speaker 4: It was a cool place.
[45:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a great place. But I don't know
[45:59] Speaker 1: the name of it.
[46:00] Speaker 2: It's a simple name.
[46:02] Speaker 1: Was it Dave's Nah, it may have been hot chicken, Yeah,
[46:08] Speaker 1: it could be. Okay, somebody let us know it was good.
[46:12] Speaker 1: It was good in Indianapolis.
[46:15] Speaker 3: That music was great.
[46:17] Speaker 1: The music was awesome. Uh all right, back to the question.
[46:20] Speaker 1: You go ahead, t k oh me. Yeah, I'm also
[46:23] Speaker 1: Mexican food. Okay, number one for me? Your favorite genre?
[46:28] Speaker 1: I said this to a genre of food. It's a cuisine.
[46:31] Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, that's a weird genre.
[46:33] Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, maybe yeah.
[46:36] Speaker 5: I don't know why Nash is being so cool his recommendations.
[46:40] Speaker 5: He said, you have to you have to write back
[46:42] Speaker 5: to get the recommendation.
[46:43] Speaker 4: I'm not sliding them in here.
[46:44] Speaker 5: But whereas he's a spider Donny Mitch, I'm more of
[46:47] Speaker 5: Michale Bridges when it comes to Mexican food. I could
[46:50] Speaker 5: eat it every day, and when I do, it gives
[46:52] Speaker 5: me a big smile.
[46:54] Speaker 1: That's good. That's your favorite day?
[46:56] Speaker 3: It is it is? You know?
[46:58] Speaker 1: This is always tough to answer. I think I go
[47:00] Speaker 1: Italian favorite cuisine, like you know, that to me is
[47:04] Speaker 1: the goat, the pizza in the pasta. So I don't know,
[47:08] Speaker 1: does that make Italian food? I guess arguably our goat
[47:13] Speaker 1: of our generation is Lebron. No, he's not my goat,
[47:16] Speaker 1: but he's obviously this era's goat. But you could maybe
[47:20] Speaker 1: it's a Curry. I don't mean we're gonna tell me
[47:21] Speaker 1: it's Korea. I don't know who's Italian, who's more Italian Lebron.
[47:24] Speaker 5: Or Curry Lebron.
[47:29] Speaker 1: But I just want to tell you what's your favorite genre?
[47:32] Speaker 7: Food?
[47:33] Speaker 3: My favorite genre?
[47:34] Speaker 7: Start asking what's your favorite genre?
[47:38] Speaker 2: Greek is too easy an answer for me. So what's
[47:41] Speaker 2: what's happening? A lot? Is it? I'm going to eat
[47:43] Speaker 2: Korean a ton? That's so that's happened a lot, And
[47:48] Speaker 2: I think, uh, the the spiciness of it really gets
[47:54] Speaker 2: to me. But I love how it's it's none. It
[47:58] Speaker 2: doesn't sit with you for a long time. It just
[48:00] Speaker 2: evaporates real quickly, like John Moran, like High Ceiling, an
[48:04] Speaker 2: incredible play. But and he's gone for a bit, you know,
[48:09] Speaker 2: he's gone pretty quickly. So yeah, you know, I could
[48:12] Speaker 2: have so many things. Have you guys ever had that spicy?
[48:16] Speaker 2: We're getting dinged all over there? That's okay, okay.
[48:21] Speaker 8: I only get text from my son and I just
[48:24] Speaker 8: yelled at him for putting the wrong name on that
[48:26] Speaker 8: last beached up and he's apologizing profusely, but the things
[48:31] Speaker 8: are coming through.
[48:34] Speaker 2: What was the wrong name?
[48:36] Speaker 3: I had? Toronto?
[48:37] Speaker 8: A guy from Toronto from last week.
[48:42] Speaker 3: Well, it's a big deal. It is a really big deal.
[48:45] Speaker 5: You know what.
[48:47] Speaker 2: I would say if we're going Greek? Anthony Edwards is
[48:52] Speaker 2: kind of like the Saganau the flaming Cheese. He's theatrical,
[48:56] Speaker 2: little dangerous, lights up the room and everyone turns to
[48:59] Speaker 2: watch it happen. Uh so, yeah, Handy Namers is a
[49:03] Speaker 2: straight up Saganaki, straight.
[49:05] Speaker 1: Up and JD. We don't need an NBA comp unless
[49:07] Speaker 1: you got one. But what is your favorite genre?
[49:09] Speaker 2: Food?
[49:11] Speaker 3: French?
[49:12] Speaker 8: I have to say I love I love French food,
[49:15] Speaker 8: French restaurants, the cream, the butter and meat. Yea, the wine,
[49:20] Speaker 8: goddamn so good.
[49:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, we gotta go back a JD. Yeah for sure.
[49:28] Speaker 1: All right, next one here, Hello soans slams. Random question
[49:33] Speaker 1: for the off season. I got some protein pop tarts
[49:36] Speaker 1: to try and they were only available in classic strawberry
[49:40] Speaker 1: with white frosting. Upon seeing them, my fiance made it
[49:44] Speaker 1: clear she would have preferred the plain strawberry it with
[49:46] Speaker 1: no frosting. I thought this was an insanely hot take.
[49:51] Speaker 1: She then went on to give some other controversial takes,
[49:54] Speaker 1: not liking peanut butter and that nuts should not be
[49:57] Speaker 1: in candy or chocolate. Wow, which of my fiance's fiances
[50:03] Speaker 1: takes is most difficult to defend? And what's a take
[50:05] Speaker 1: of yours mbry or not that goes against the grain?
[50:08] Speaker 1: That is from Mark in Virginia and it's there on
[50:12] Speaker 1: the graphic. Thank you Mark going through it with this
[50:15] Speaker 1: fiances hot takes? Did you want to address that part first?
[50:18] Speaker 3: Oh?
[50:18] Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, let's see here which of my fiancees takes
[50:20] Speaker 5: is most difficult to defend? So we're going between frosting
[50:24] Speaker 5: and not frosting on a strawberry pop tart.
[50:28] Speaker 4: I didn't even know they made protein pop tarts.
[50:30] Speaker 2: I didn't know either, say what innovation?
[50:33] Speaker 4: My dad was always a person who liked the plain.
[50:35] Speaker 5: One with just the holes on the top.
[50:36] Speaker 3: Wow.
[50:37] Speaker 5: I thought that was crazy back then, but it's still
[50:39] Speaker 5: tasty on the inside. Not liking peanut butter weird to me,
[50:43] Speaker 5: But there are people out there weren't peanut butter heads.
[50:46] Speaker 5: But you can put nuts in candy and chocolate. You
[50:49] Speaker 5: can do it.
[50:49] Speaker 2: Oh gosh, yeah, that's that's probably the wildest take that
[50:54] Speaker 2: should be in chocolate. I mean, it's one of the
[51:00] Speaker 2: best things, one of the best, one of your favorite
[51:03] Speaker 2: things in chocolate, A freaking almond.
[51:06] Speaker 3: Just you know, leave it there. You're right, it's all
[51:14] Speaker 3: you need to say. The strawberry with.
[51:16] Speaker 2: Frosting, I kind of agree with Mark Fiance.
[51:19] Speaker 3: I mean, maybe is good.
[51:21] Speaker 5: I agree which part The plainy isn't as good.
[51:24] Speaker 2: It's not as good, but the frosting is. Maybe I'm old,
[51:27] Speaker 2: but it really hits. It really hits my taste. But
[51:29] Speaker 2: it's like hard, it's probably it's chewy sugar. We haven't
[51:33] Speaker 2: we have them in our house, and even the kids
[51:35] Speaker 2: like this is too much.
[51:37] Speaker 1: You bring me one, I might blow your mind. I've
[51:40] Speaker 1: never had a pop tart.
[51:42] Speaker 2: Weird. Never. Wow, I didn't have a toast growing up.
[51:46] Speaker 1: We were so poor. We didn't have a toast. Uh No,
[51:49] Speaker 1: we just never had them in the house. It was
[51:51] Speaker 1: never bought, and I just went my entire life without
[51:53] Speaker 1: having one.
[51:54] Speaker 2: You didn't miss much, No, I'm not intrigued.
[51:57] Speaker 8: I never had one either till I was over forty,
[52:01] Speaker 8: definitely over over until he came here.
[52:04] Speaker 1: I know I was gonna say, were they not a
[52:06] Speaker 1: big Canadian thing?
[52:07] Speaker 2: I know they existed, but I had him Okay, things
[52:12] Speaker 2: were happening in my toast. Yeah, that's some weird stuff
[52:16] Speaker 2: in my toaster, now that we think about it. Anyway,
[52:20] Speaker 2: Marks fiance also noted, but I didn't include it in
[52:23] Speaker 2: the in the email just because or the messages because
[52:26] Speaker 2: it was going too long. She said, not linking peanut butter,
[52:28] Speaker 2: and that's included mixing with things like peanut butter and
[52:33] Speaker 2: chocolate anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so anyway.
[52:40] Speaker 1: Okay, so what about what about our own hot takes?
[52:43] Speaker 1: NBA related or not? Does anyone want to go.
[52:47] Speaker 4: You want an NBA one or not NBA one?
[52:50] Speaker 1: Give me both?
[52:50] Speaker 5: Okay. Any NBA player could be a top twenty beach
[52:52] Speaker 5: volleyball player within a year.
[52:55] Speaker 1: Okay.
[52:56] Speaker 7: Doubling down on this, that one is a guarantee.
[52:59] Speaker 5: Love like name name like the least athletic NBA player
[53:03] Speaker 5: and there as athletic as the most athletic beach volleyball player.
[53:08] Speaker 3: Okay, I think.
[53:11] Speaker 5: Now you've got to TJ McConnell would be a top
[53:13] Speaker 5: twenty beach volleyball player.
[53:15] Speaker 1: We'll see this is wild.
[53:16] Speaker 2: Okay, So he's the guy who never hits the ball
[53:19] Speaker 2: to the center. I mean six to one, Like, those
[53:23] Speaker 2: guys are big. Those guys are huge volleyball players.
[53:25] Speaker 5: Who's the best beach volleyball player in the world, No clue,
[53:28] Speaker 5: No one knows.
[53:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, Chase Buttinger is the one that stands out. Is
[53:31] Speaker 2: exactly the NBA player that turned volleyball player.
[53:34] Speaker 1: But he don't he played, he played. He played a
[53:38] Speaker 1: volleyball growing up. Is the part trace The whole thing
[53:41] Speaker 1: is like, give them one year, they could do it.
[53:43] Speaker 1: Now they're athletes, So a part of me goes, you
[53:46] Speaker 1: might have a point. But of course somebody that played
[53:48] Speaker 1: volleyball their whole life is going to come back and
[53:50] Speaker 1: go are you insane? Like no, not not a chance.
[53:54] Speaker 1: They'd have to play much longer and all that.
[53:55] Speaker 5: But maybe two years you're right to take down. I
[54:00] Speaker 5: love to take Elmer Anderson. They're the top range volleyball
[54:05] Speaker 5: pairing in the world and they don't even have a
[54:07] Speaker 5: Wikipedia page.
[54:10] Speaker 4: Ridiculous.
[54:11] Speaker 1: You're helping get their name out there. So okay, I
[54:14] Speaker 1: like that one. What's your other one?
[54:15] Speaker 5: I don't like tomatoes on pizza like an actual slice
[54:20] Speaker 5: of a tomato on top of a pizza.
[54:22] Speaker 4: It's a wet it's.
[54:26] Speaker 5: A little too juicy for on top of a pizza.
[54:29] Speaker 2: I'm with you. If it's a roaster, if it's roasted,
[54:32] Speaker 2: different drives are fine. Yeah, I agree, wetness of it,
[54:36] Speaker 2: I agree. I'm glad we don't mushroom. I'm glad we don't.
[54:41] Speaker 1: What about you.
[54:42] Speaker 2: I don't have anything that compares to those two, but
[54:44] Speaker 2: I do want to ask Mark's fiance, do you wear
[54:47] Speaker 2: shoes in public? Because because that's a Virginia thing, people
[54:52] Speaker 2: don't wear shoes sometimes that's a thing that's a little
[54:54] Speaker 2: as Yeah, it is, it's a known thing. Okay, just
[55:01] Speaker 2: hang out drive foot barefoot anyway, just so you know. Okay, Okay,
[55:07] Speaker 2: please write in Mark and mark fiance follow up.
[55:11] Speaker 1: I've got an MBA one that you know. It's sort
[55:14] Speaker 1: of a hot take, but hear me out on this.
[55:16] Speaker 1: This is a thought that's been percolating over the last
[55:18] Speaker 1: couple of days. It's on the heels of the shocking
[55:21] Speaker 1: Celtic Sixers trade and with the analytics debate that was
[55:25] Speaker 1: going off because there was a lot I'm sure you
[55:27] Speaker 1: guys saw it of Jalen Brown is just Rudy Gay
[55:30] Speaker 1: with better pr That was like a sentiment going around
[55:35] Speaker 1: the internet, and I think I got a better comparison,
[55:38] Speaker 1: maybe a hotter take Jalen Brown's last season and the
[55:44] Speaker 1: overrated or underrated narrative surrounding it. It compares more favorably
[55:49] Speaker 1: to Carmelo Anthony's twenty twelve thirteen season with the New
[55:53] Speaker 1: York Knicks. And I'm gonna tell you why. Both players
[55:57] Speaker 1: were All Stars. Both players were All NBA second time selections.
[56:00] Speaker 1: Melo finished third in MVP voting that year, Jelen Brown
[56:04] Speaker 1: finished sixth. So really good results. Both players averaged exactly
[56:08] Speaker 1: twenty eight point seven points per game and six point
[56:11] Speaker 1: nine rebounds per game, exact same numbers. Brown had more
[56:15] Speaker 1: assists and more turnovers. He shot the ball a little
[56:18] Speaker 1: bit better from the floor, Mello more efficient from three,
[56:20] Speaker 1: better at the line. Mello led the league with a
[56:23] Speaker 1: thirty five point six percent usage percentage. This was in
[56:27] Speaker 1: large part due to Amari Stotdemeier missing fifty plus games
[56:32] Speaker 1: with knee surgery. Brown had a thirty six point two
[56:35] Speaker 1: usage percentage that ranked second in the league only to Luca.
[56:38] Speaker 1: That was in large part to Jason Tatum missing sixty
[56:41] Speaker 1: plus games coming back from the ruptured achilles. Mello's Nicks
[56:44] Speaker 1: won fifty four games thanks to a top three offense
[56:47] Speaker 1: that shot a lot of threes and took care of
[56:49] Speaker 1: the ball. They fell short in the second round to
[56:51] Speaker 1: the Pacers featuring Paul George. Mello had a rough series
[56:56] Speaker 1: in that one. He shot forty three percent from the floor.
[56:59] Speaker 1: He turned the ball over fifteen times in six games.
[57:01] Speaker 1: Jalen brown Celtics won fifty six games thanks to a
[57:04] Speaker 1: top two offense that shot a lot of threes took
[57:06] Speaker 1: care of the ball. They lost in the first round
[57:09] Speaker 1: to the Sixers featuring Paul George. Brown shot forty five
[57:13] Speaker 1: percent in the series. He had a lot of turnovers
[57:15] Speaker 1: in the seven game series twenty five and then the
[57:17] Speaker 1: real comp though, comes down to like this idea of
[57:21] Speaker 1: how they were perceived by fans and players, like where
[57:24] Speaker 1: are they? Are they top ten or they top fifteen,
[57:26] Speaker 1: they top twenty. And I know we had those debates
[57:29] Speaker 1: about Carmelo Anthony because we were doing it on our show,
[57:33] Speaker 1: especially in the starters days, about the idea of like
[57:35] Speaker 1: is mellow is he actually overrated? Now? I think Jalen
[57:38] Speaker 1: Brown is a much better defensive player than Carmelo Anthony
[57:41] Speaker 1: ever was, So that's a part of the equation here.
[57:44] Speaker 1: But I think the comp is much more similar from
[57:48] Speaker 1: those particular seasons.
[57:50] Speaker 5: Your thoughts, well, once you said they both averaged twenty
[57:53] Speaker 5: eight points seven points per game, I was one hundred percent.
[57:56] Speaker 4: That's all.
[57:57] Speaker 5: And they're like they're both such big eye test versus
[58:00] Speaker 5: I'm telling style players.
[58:02] Speaker 1: I think it's good we had those debates about Mellow.
[58:05] Speaker 1: We did, and like now they're just amplified because of
[58:08] Speaker 1: the Internet and the echo chamber.
[58:10] Speaker 5: Of all that.
[58:11] Speaker 1: But like there we had, Yeah, we had a lot
[58:13] Speaker 1: of this with Melo of like, okay, he scores a
[58:16] Speaker 1: lot by you know where you know, he's a max
[58:19] Speaker 1: guy too. Now, like Joel Brown's making sixty million dollars,
[58:21] Speaker 1: Mellow's making what was his deal? He was like five
[58:24] Speaker 1: to one third. He actually took a discount if I
[58:26] Speaker 1: remember correctly, probably so, but anyway, he was making a
[58:29] Speaker 1: max deal at the time.
[58:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good cop, all right, good good Also, yeah,
[58:34] Speaker 2: Jalen Brown took the most shots in the NBA total,
[58:38] Speaker 2: while Carmelo Anthony Anthony took the most shots per game.
[58:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, and a part of it was by design, like
[58:43] Speaker 1: as we and Jason Tatum part for sure, and how
[58:47] Speaker 1: they sort of play their team. So all right, I'm
[58:50] Speaker 1: glad that sort of hit with you guys.
[58:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, Final one, Final one, Good morning, basketball bowies. This
[58:56] Speaker 2: is Keith Van Horney from the YouTube chat. I was
[59:00] Speaker 2: wondering if you guys had any names for the pod
[59:02] Speaker 2: that were left on the cutting room floor. I know
[59:05] Speaker 2: that rebrands must be difficult, so I'm sure there was
[59:07] Speaker 2: a conversation about the name change way back then. I've
[59:11] Speaker 2: been a loyal listener and watcher since the beginning of
[59:14] Speaker 2: the starter's days, and it's weird to even think of
[59:16] Speaker 2: you guys as anything but no dunks. Now, maybe one
[59:18] Speaker 2: of the possible names was basketball Boys, turn Up, Love
[59:22] Speaker 2: you guys Awesome. That's from Keith Rogers, also known as
[59:25] Speaker 2: Keith van Horney on the treat chat.
[59:28] Speaker 1: Keith dan Well, I think we've talked about this before
[59:31] Speaker 1: a little bit. Yeah, I did find a list of
[59:34] Speaker 1: Google doc oh there. It is titled TBJ Conclave from
[59:40] Speaker 1: August twenty thirteen. So this is actually us trying to
[59:45] Speaker 1: decide what we were going to call the new show
[59:46] Speaker 1: after we couldn't be called the Basketball Jones anymore, and
[59:49] Speaker 1: we were coming to Atlanta for NBA TV and what
[59:51] Speaker 1: we were going to call the show because I guess
[59:54] Speaker 1: oh is the whole thing. Lou Adler owns the rights
[59:56] Speaker 1: to the Basketball Jones. Because of the Cheech and Chong
[59:58] Speaker 1: yep song, we had to call it something else. By
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: the way, this list or this Google doc I mean,
[1:00:06] Speaker 1: other notes about house hunting. How's everybody house hunting going?
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: We had calls scheduled with people from Turner Sports, and
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: we had a lot of thoughts about how the studio
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: and the desk were going to look. There was a
[1:00:19] Speaker 1: lot of buzzwords like warm and intimate.
[1:00:23] Speaker 5: Anyway, I would say we nailed that for our first
[1:00:25] Speaker 5: season on the show.
[1:00:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, we got at.
[1:00:28] Speaker 5: The smallest desk for the biggest possible studio.
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: So when it came to the names, it did look
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: like we really wanted to try and go with still
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: the Jones or the NBA Jones. That was like leading
[1:00:43] Speaker 1: sort of on this list at the time, But then
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: we wrote down so many possible names. Can I read
[1:00:50] Speaker 1: you something?
[1:00:50] Speaker 3: All right?
[1:00:51] Speaker 1: This is going to sound like a tweet of the week,
[1:00:53] Speaker 1: shout out here. But this is pretty funny, all right.
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: So it starts with a bunch of Jones Once the
[1:00:57] Speaker 1: Jones Cast, the Jones Show, Jones Report, the Brian Jones
[1:01:03] Speaker 1: Rim Cast. Then it goes into this The Skemes and
[1:01:08] Speaker 1: Tash Show Technical Foul Fowl. Our logo could be a
[1:01:14] Speaker 1: duck somebody row uh. We kept it simple. The NBA Show,
[1:01:21] Speaker 1: That NBA Show, NBA at Large, No Dunks was on
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: this list the first time NBA Hangover, NBA Overtime, Overtime,
[1:01:31] Speaker 1: dimes and things, dunks and donuts, The Score, Sneakers Score,
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: Jacob Jason Doyle presents a show about basketball. It's on
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: that sleeveless endeavors. The Great Canadian Basketball Show, Tips and Tukes, Tips,
[1:01:50] Speaker 1: Austin and Ellis has a ring to it. Knows what
[1:01:53] Speaker 1: we had in ours, The Associates, the Basketball Diaries, Buzzer Beaters,
[1:01:58] Speaker 1: NB A hole, This for you too, Scotch and Soda.
[1:02:06] Speaker 1: This for you and me. Cuban, Pete and Gary talk basketball, NBA.
[1:02:10] Speaker 1: Taco that's for you. We just decided to start in
[1:02:15] Speaker 1: a brainstorm. Kirby's epic yarn, The Basketball Jones too. We
[1:02:22] Speaker 1: threw out. I got more I got more than okay,
[1:02:29] Speaker 1: the Jones, the NBA Jones, the Associates, the Mob, the Company,
[1:02:33] Speaker 1: the Alliance, the Crew, the crowd, the Convoy. So we
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: were I mean, we ultimately went with the starter, so
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: we really zeroed in on the and then I'm almost
[1:02:40] Speaker 1: done here now for these ones. And this really tells
[1:02:43] Speaker 1: you the time of when we were doing this. We
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: had the hashtags ready to go. So the Blue Chips
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: hashtag TBC.
[1:02:55] Speaker 4: We put a lot of effort into the hashtag.
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: Episode the time, the air Buds hashtag tab TB.
[1:03:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's an actual.
[1:03:07] Speaker 1: Hashtag. The Crossover, it's another good actual show name. For
[1:03:11] Speaker 1: another one that was hashtag TCO. The Bricklayers hashtag TBLS,
[1:03:18] Speaker 1: the Nate Smith Jones hashtag TNJ. And then I have
[1:03:23] Speaker 1: the final four on my list here. Our list was
[1:03:26] Speaker 1: the substitutes, the replacements, the thirteenth man, and then somebody
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: wrote should technically be fourteenth but that sounds weird. And
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: then after the score was another name. So that that
[1:03:40] Speaker 1: was a huge I know, because we were coming from
[1:03:43] Speaker 1: the shre. That was a huge, huge list that we had. Yeah,
[1:03:47] Speaker 1: a trip down memory lane there.
[1:03:50] Speaker 5: I mean, honestly, it sounds like we picked the best too,
[1:03:52] Speaker 5: the starters and no dunks. Yeah, so I do have
[1:03:57] Speaker 5: some affinity for rim cast than NBA Holes.
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: I like Jason Dole presents the Basketball a show about
[1:04:06] Speaker 1: basketball actual, Yeah, jd is I remember any of those
[1:04:10] Speaker 1: that list.
[1:04:11] Speaker 8: Yes, there was too many on the list. That was
[1:04:14] Speaker 8: the problem. Like it was very hard to narrow down.
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: We did, of course, narrow it down and present it
[1:04:21] Speaker 1: to n b A TV.
[1:04:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:04:23] Speaker 3: I remember being in that meeting, like we were.
[1:04:27] Speaker 8: I was sitting in Nova Scotia, like I was overlooking
[1:04:30] Speaker 8: the Bay of Fundy, and then we were on a
[1:04:32] Speaker 8: skype or whatever. Yeah, and it was that's where probably
[1:04:35] Speaker 8: where the duck thing came.
[1:04:41] Speaker 3: A bird in the ocean.
[1:04:43] Speaker 1: I just remember it really like, obviously we want the starters,
[1:04:47] Speaker 1: but there was more of a self deprecating like the benchwarmers,
[1:04:51] Speaker 1: right or something.
[1:04:52] Speaker 2: That's exactly what I was thinking.
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we talked ourselves out of that. I mean,
[1:04:59] Speaker 1: what are we doing? Why don't we we're the starter?
[1:05:01] Speaker 8: Is half of Turner called us the benchwarmers? Anyways, I'm sorry,
[1:05:06] Speaker 8: but they did.
[1:05:07] Speaker 1: They called this the NBA holes or the Great Canadian
[1:05:11] Speaker 1: Basketball Show or the City Canadian Basketball show. Maybe yeah,
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: all right, anyway, I was happy to find that, uh
[1:05:19] Speaker 1: that Google doc. So there there's your answer. Very good
[1:05:23] Speaker 1: or at least, uh, who something in Keith Keith something.
[1:05:26] Speaker 8: Don't don't tell me that there's no more basketball podcast
[1:05:29] Speaker 8: names out there, because you just there's like fifteen of
[1:05:34] Speaker 8: those are actually usable names.
[1:05:36] Speaker 1: Well, I mean I think ten of these are actual names.
[1:05:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, Uh, nobody's used that NBA show.
[1:05:43] Speaker 3: I'm surprised by.
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: That NBA show is not bad.
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: Actually trying to must increase the reach, you know, I know, yeah,
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: go listen to that NBA show.
[1:05:55] Speaker 1: You were they against us having NBA in the title
[1:05:58] Speaker 1: or we didn't want NBA in the title or a
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: question I don't remember specifically.
[1:06:05] Speaker 3: They shot down a lot a lot of them.
[1:06:08] Speaker 8: Yeah, and ultimately I think they chose the starter because
[1:06:12] Speaker 8: it was on a list of five, and then they
[1:06:14] Speaker 8: were just like, Okay, this is this is the least
[1:06:16] Speaker 8: offensive to us.
[1:06:17] Speaker 3: So go with that.
[1:06:19] Speaker 2: Because it was leading into the Knights games, like right
[1:06:22] Speaker 2: before the Knights games, they were like, yeah, this makes sense.
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: Did make some sense, all right. And as for the
[1:06:28] Speaker 1: no dunks part of it all, we've said this before,
[1:06:30] Speaker 1: but no Dunks is what we actually called our like
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: our company so to speak, way back in our partnership
[1:06:36] Speaker 1: when it was just JD. Tass and myself. So that's
[1:06:39] Speaker 1: sort of always been in the background No Dunks even
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: when we were the basketball Jones I was. Again, we
[1:06:43] Speaker 1: weren't like an official company, but it's sort of what
[1:06:45] Speaker 1: we called our team.
[1:06:46] Speaker 2: Well, when we were all moving to Atlanta, I remember
[1:06:48] Speaker 2: you changed the group name for one of our conversations,
[1:06:51] Speaker 2: you know, just just an app that we all use
[1:06:54] Speaker 2: to the crew. You remember that? Yeah, yeah, I say
[1:06:59] Speaker 2: I save that one. Save the change the name change
[1:07:02] Speaker 2: on a group chat. Yeah, I say this one screenshot.
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: Oh I did save the crew, didn't I that was
[1:07:07] Speaker 1: one of the ones I said, Yeah.
[1:07:08] Speaker 2: Oh actually it was the show crew. I take it
[1:07:10] Speaker 2: back the show crew.
