[0:31] Speaker 1: Trey Kirby, Hey, heyo, and over yonder making the magic happen.
[0:35] Speaker 1: Super producer jd. Hello, there he is here, we are.
[0:38] Speaker 1: There's a lot of magic to make happen here tonight.
[0:40] Speaker 1: NBA Free Agency does not officially start until the top
[0:44] Speaker 1: of the hour at six pm Eastern, but we've had
[0:48] Speaker 1: a flurry of activity over the last twenty four hours
[0:50] Speaker 1: or so. The off season well underway. If you're joining
[0:53] Speaker 1: us on YouTube, we love to see it. Hit the
[0:55] Speaker 1: like button and subscribe podcast listeners, We love you too,
[0:58] Speaker 1: Drop a five star rating and review. Okay, where to start?
[1:02] Speaker 1: Where to start start? Let's start with the Toronto Raptors
[1:06] Speaker 1: getting Kawhi Leonard back. What year is it, twenty nineteen? Yeah,
[1:10] Speaker 1: the Clippers are nearing a deal. That's how Sham's reported
[1:13] Speaker 1: it to send Kawhi Leonard back to the Toronto Raptors
[1:17] Speaker 1: for Brandon Ingram, Grady Dick, two first round picks, one
[1:22] Speaker 1: pick swap, and two second rounders b I Dick and picks.
[1:27] Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard running it back. Holy crap, Tasks. You know,
[1:33] Speaker 1: we'd heard some rumors about this over the last couple
[1:35] Speaker 1: of days, and it happens here. By all accounts, he's
[1:39] Speaker 1: coming back. What do you think? What's your reaction to
[1:42] Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard coming back to.
[1:43] Speaker 2: The Raps When you say Bi Dick and picks.
[1:46] Speaker 3: I really think that Kawhi Leonard was traded for the picks,
[1:50] Speaker 3: the two first round picks, because they've got to be
[1:52] Speaker 3: extremely happy that they didn't have to give up Rgie
[1:55] Speaker 3: Barrett or somebody that's going to be part of the
[1:57] Speaker 3: rotation because Brandon Ingram wasn't playable in the season, kind
[2:00] Speaker 3: of fell apart in the postseason, played it off the floor.
[2:03] Speaker 3: They're kind of better without him. Grady Dick wasn't really
[2:07] Speaker 3: part of the rotation. Kawhi Leonard said, all right, this
[2:10] Speaker 3: Clippers thing ain't working. I'm out of here. I need
[2:13] Speaker 3: to go somewhere where I can win. He wants to
[2:15] Speaker 3: line himself up with Scotty Barnes. When you got those
[2:17] Speaker 3: top two guys, you need your third as a two
[2:20] Speaker 3: way player. And that's why Brandon Ingram I think as
[2:22] Speaker 3: much as he is part of the package that goes back,
[2:25] Speaker 3: I just start looking at the rest of their team
[2:27] Speaker 3: and RJ. Barrett, Yacker Pearl starting beside them. Emmanuel quickly
[2:31] Speaker 3: didn't play a second in the playoffs because he was hurt.
[2:33] Speaker 3: And then your second unit of Colin Murray Boyles, who
[2:37] Speaker 3: almost was ending games a lot of the time for
[2:39] Speaker 3: this Raptors team as a rook plus Jamal shed and
[2:43] Speaker 3: you're Jacobe Walter. I get pretty excited about this team.
[2:46] Speaker 3: I think they could easily finish top three in the
[2:48] Speaker 3: Eastern Conference standings. Baby, I don't think that it would
[2:53] Speaker 3: be a surprise if they finished first in the standings.
[2:56] Speaker 2: I know it sounds a little nuts, but we don't
[2:58] Speaker 2: know what the Pistons are.
[3:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, they won fifty three team wins last season, and
[3:04] Speaker 3: of course the Celtics are going to be really good.
[3:06] Speaker 3: But this Raptors team, I think we'll go into each
[3:09] Speaker 3: game thinking that they can win a game. And you know,
[3:11] Speaker 3: from forty six and uh and thirty six, I think
[3:15] Speaker 3: they could literally get up in the high fifties. You know,
[3:18] Speaker 3: in the postseason it's different and all that. But you
[3:21] Speaker 3: got a healthy Kawhi. I don't care about this. Yeah,
[3:23] Speaker 3: Kawhi has n't played and he's injured in all that
[3:25] Speaker 3: he plays sixty five games last season. He goes back
[3:27] Speaker 3: to a Toronto team led by Alex mckechney.
[3:30] Speaker 1: Why when this guy's healthy, he's not really healthy.
[3:33] Speaker 4: Come on, he's healthy until the second he's out for.
[3:36] Speaker 5: The rest of his career. That's what it's like with
[3:38] Speaker 5: Kawhi Leonard.
[3:38] Speaker 4: He is healthy as can be right now, the gay
[3:41] Speaker 4: that counts him healthier than healthy?
[3:43] Speaker 2: What if guys can change?
[3:44] Speaker 4: That happens a lot as they get older, they get healthier. Well,
[3:47] Speaker 4: come on, this is awesome for the Raptors. They salary
[3:50] Speaker 4: dumped Brandon Ingram and they got Kawhi Leonard. Yeah, that's
[3:52] Speaker 4: a huge upgrade for their team. Now they're going to
[3:54] Speaker 4: have to pay Kawai going forward. But the Raptors had
[3:56] Speaker 4: no championship window before today. Now they got a little
[3:59] Speaker 4: one with you task could be the second best team
[4:02] Speaker 4: in the Eastern Conference. We don't know what the Celtics
[4:04] Speaker 4: are going to look like the Pistons are a little
[4:06] Speaker 4: unsettled right now. They won sixty games, they won a
[4:08] Speaker 4: playoff series last year. They'll be in the mix. We
[4:11] Speaker 4: don't know about Tyre's Haliburton coming back from an achilles
[4:14] Speaker 4: tendon tear followed by Shingles with a new guy, and
[4:17] Speaker 4: it beats the Zubats. Things are going to change in
[4:19] Speaker 4: the Eastern Conference outside of the Knicks and the Raptors
[4:21] Speaker 4: are going to be right there.
[4:22] Speaker 5: They still need a center upgrade.
[4:23] Speaker 4: You can't realistically be a title contender with Pearl as
[4:26] Speaker 4: your starting center, but he's not going to be the
[4:27] Speaker 4: closing center. It'll be a front court of Barnes, CMB
[4:31] Speaker 4: and Kawhi Leonard. The defense is going to be nasty.
[4:33] Speaker 4: The offense is probably also going to be nasty. But
[4:35] Speaker 4: now instead of having Ingram as the last shot taker,
[4:37] Speaker 4: you got Kawhi Leonard.
[4:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, Toronto's half court offense was a mess last season.
[4:41] Speaker 1: Now you have Kawhi at least if he's healthy. Big
[4:44] Speaker 1: part I was laughing because you were poo pooing the
[4:47] Speaker 1: lamellow ball going to the MINNESOTAABA Wolves and you were
[4:49] Speaker 1: rolling your eyes that he had one healthy season here,
[4:52] Speaker 1: but for the most part has been injured. So you
[4:54] Speaker 1: sort of cheat your tune a little bit because Kawhi
[4:56] Speaker 1: had a good year for him.
[4:57] Speaker 2: That's a different tune.
[4:58] Speaker 1: Man.
[4:59] Speaker 2: Still, Leonards started his.
[5:01] Speaker 3: Career being very, very healthy. He was in Toronto, had
[5:05] Speaker 3: an incredible season. Going back to his.
[5:08] Speaker 1: I mean he missed a quarter of it.
[5:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but Ben he went and played more than
[5:11] Speaker 3: anybody in that postseason, playing thirty nine minutes a game,
[5:14] Speaker 3: twenty four games out there in the playoffs. Going back
[5:17] Speaker 3: with Alex McKechnie, the vice president of Player Health and Performance,
[5:20] Speaker 3: the guy that he was able to do it with.
[5:22] Speaker 3: LaMelo didn't start his career playing all these games quiet.
[5:26] Speaker 3: Come on, come on. He was one of the best
[5:27] Speaker 3: players in this in the NBA last season getting all
[5:30] Speaker 3: these MVP votes.
[5:32] Speaker 2: I'm not sure on modern.
[5:33] Speaker 3: Medicine and whether this guy's going to play a ton
[5:36] Speaker 3: for the rest of his career. But to give up
[5:37] Speaker 3: two first round picks which aren't going to be all
[5:39] Speaker 3: that great. If they're a twenty twenty seven Raptors first
[5:43] Speaker 3: round pick, it's not going to be all that great.
[5:44] Speaker 3: A twenty twenty nine first round Raptors first round pick
[5:47] Speaker 3: never may not be all that great either, considering you've
[5:50] Speaker 3: got Scotty Barnes leading you. I don't think it's a
[5:53] Speaker 3: bad package at all to go from what it seemed
[5:56] Speaker 3: to be, whether when it was r. J. Barrett and
[5:58] Speaker 3: Yaker Perl to get extra a lot thinner on your team.
[6:02] Speaker 3: This is this is this is.
[6:05] Speaker 1: This is the definition of trading an eighty two game
[6:07] Speaker 1: player in Brandon Ingram for a sixteen game player in
[6:10] Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard done. And it took up some draft capital
[6:14] Speaker 1: and who knows how great these will be, especially with
[6:16] Speaker 1: new draft lottery reform and all that. And maybe he's
[6:18] Speaker 1: injured and suddenly it's like and there's our face. But
[6:22] Speaker 1: Bobby Webster has been searching for a big name for
[6:24] Speaker 1: a while here. He's been linked in every trade rumor
[6:27] Speaker 1: with a big name coming up, you know, the Honestes
[6:29] Speaker 1: and LaMelo even he was linked to, and maybe there
[6:32] Speaker 1: was some Jalen Brown whispers. He ultimately decides on Kwi
[6:35] Speaker 1: and Kawhi played a part in this trade because it
[6:36] Speaker 1: sounds he's like, I'm willing to sign an extension with
[6:39] Speaker 1: Toronto Raptors. That's a huge part of this. It doesn't
[6:42] Speaker 1: sound like he was willing to do that with a
[6:44] Speaker 1: lot of other teams, is what the reporting is saying.
[6:46] Speaker 1: For sure, I want to go back there, he said.
[6:48] Speaker 4: The investigation can't get me in Canada. That's right safe
[6:51] Speaker 4: up there.
[6:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's a whole other part.
[6:55] Speaker 4: Would you guys feel the same way if this wasn't
[6:56] Speaker 4: a franchise hero coming back and getting paid two years,
[6:59] Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty five million dollars at thirty six
[7:01] Speaker 4: and thirty seven.
[7:02] Speaker 1: I have reservations about this, Like, he's not Kawhi in
[7:05] Speaker 1: his prime as great as he was last year, and
[7:07] Speaker 1: he was. He was an All NBA player, second team
[7:09] Speaker 1: All NBA. He was still incredible. I would have loved
[7:13] Speaker 1: take another pick off the board here, you know, like
[7:15] Speaker 1: I thought maybe it would be less draft capital going
[7:17] Speaker 1: back to the Clippers. Then ultimately what it was, because
[7:19] Speaker 1: it seemed like Kawhi was almost playing his hand, like
[7:21] Speaker 1: I only want to go there. You don't want to
[7:23] Speaker 1: give me the contract extension? Yeah, trade answer your question
[7:26] Speaker 1: like it plays a part, no doubt. The Raptors have
[7:28] Speaker 1: never lost the championship when Kway Leonard's been on the team.
[7:30] Speaker 1: So let's see if we can do it. Again, I'm
[7:33] Speaker 1: not like convinced that this like gets them right to
[7:35] Speaker 1: the top of the Eastern Conference. I'm sort of amazed
[7:37] Speaker 1: to hear that. I think this is Bobby Westerer in
[7:39] Speaker 1: the organization, like, hey, we got to keep up with
[7:42] Speaker 1: this like sort of like one B or second tier
[7:46] Speaker 1: in the Eastern Conference. Your Hawks teams and your Magic
[7:49] Speaker 1: teams and like the now the heat with you, honest,
[7:51] Speaker 1: like that's the jockeying to me. I hope you're right
[7:55] Speaker 1: and I'm wrong. Yeah, but everybody's getting you know, excited
[7:59] Speaker 1: here with all these movements to try and keep up,
[8:01] Speaker 1: and that's obviously what the Raps are doing here.
[8:02] Speaker 3: Well, you made the comparison to Ingram being a regular
[8:05] Speaker 3: season player and you get a Kawhi and a playoff
[8:08] Speaker 3: as a playoff guy. I think this team is an
[8:10] Speaker 3: incredible regular season team. And when I say that, they
[8:12] Speaker 3: can be top three in the standings and it wouldn't
[8:14] Speaker 3: be shocking to see them number one.
[8:17] Speaker 2: That's what it's about.
[8:18] Speaker 3: It's about being there and having home court advantage for
[8:20] Speaker 3: those two months and seeing where it can take you.
[8:23] Speaker 3: I wouldn't be shocked if, yeah, they can get to
[8:25] Speaker 3: the finals. But I think The primary part here is
[8:28] Speaker 3: let's see how deep they can get. And I think
[8:30] Speaker 3: they could be the first seat because the Detroit Pistons,
[8:32] Speaker 3: we literally don't know who's playing center for them. We
[8:34] Speaker 3: don't even know who's playing power forward for them, but
[8:36] Speaker 3: Tobias Sarah Khan. So there's that, and we can go
[8:38] Speaker 3: through every single team. But yeah, I think they can
[8:41] Speaker 3: finish a top the New York Knicks in regular season standings.
[8:45] Speaker 3: So then we go from there. Because Kawhi is ready
[8:48] Speaker 3: to roll.
[8:49] Speaker 1: I just talking about like I'm signing here or I'm
[8:52] Speaker 1: getting traded here, I'm going to sign the extension. It
[8:54] Speaker 1: sounds like he's like, that'll be it. I'll retire. He's
[8:58] Speaker 1: pretty is saying like I planned to retire with the
[9:01] Speaker 1: tront Raunbers. So like this could be the final part
[9:03] Speaker 1: of his chapter here in coming back and maybe whatever
[9:06] Speaker 1: it is, three years, maybe something like that. He just
[9:08] Speaker 1: thirty five, he just turned thirty.
[9:09] Speaker 3: Five, and part and part of it, I think he
[9:12] Speaker 3: sees Scottie Barnes in the coming out party that he
[9:15] Speaker 3: had in the playoffs to be rolling with that guy.
[9:18] Speaker 3: And at some point Colin Murray Boyles growing into an
[9:21] Speaker 3: even better player.
[9:23] Speaker 2: So I think that's.
[9:24] Speaker 3: Part of it why he chose Toronto, and you know
[9:26] Speaker 3: the whole I'm familiar with it. But he looks at
[9:29] Speaker 3: that team, he sees the Eastern Conference, he sees the
[9:32] Speaker 3: team that could do it.
[9:34] Speaker 4: I know it's he also sixty million dollars in a contract. Yeah,
[9:40] Speaker 4: Trey Young chose Washington a little bit.
[9:42] Speaker 3: Probably, Well, he could have got money from the Clippers
[9:45] Speaker 3: obviously not trade them.
[9:47] Speaker 1: They didn't offer him stuff.
[9:49] Speaker 2: Well for the draft picks. I mean he requests, he
[9:52] Speaker 2: requested to get the heck out of.
[9:53] Speaker 1: There, wouldn't pay up payment. Yeah, well, I.
[9:56] Speaker 2: Don't know, I don't know what all the details are.
[9:59] Speaker 1: The reporting is that they were not going to sign him.
[10:01] Speaker 1: That was a big part of him obviously, like Okay,
[10:03] Speaker 1: we'll get me out of here then and I'll go there.
[10:05] Speaker 4: He's just like James Harden, but he's quiet. He's not
[10:10] Speaker 4: out there in your face. So he kind of slides
[10:12] Speaker 4: for being just as cutthroat about money as Harden has
[10:15] Speaker 4: been for his entire career. But Kawhi Leonard operates in
[10:18] Speaker 4: the exact same way. But this is still great for
[10:21] Speaker 4: the Raptors. They were gonna have to pay at least
[10:24] Speaker 4: one pick, possibly too to get off Brandon Ingram's contract.
[10:27] Speaker 4: So you throw in another one and a half picks
[10:29] Speaker 4: and you get Kawhi Leonard for at least one season,
[10:32] Speaker 4: likely three seasons. Who knows how many games that could be.
[10:35] Speaker 4: That could be two hundred games, that could be fifty games.
[10:37] Speaker 4: We shall see. I think it's risky for the Raptors,
[10:42] Speaker 4: like I think their floor is probably lower if Kawhi
[10:45] Speaker 4: goes out, and you know, missus, if he goes out
[10:47] Speaker 4: in January, he could be done for the next season
[10:49] Speaker 4: as well. You know, I think there's more of a risk,
[10:51] Speaker 4: but there's also way more of a reward. They were,
[10:54] Speaker 4: at best a first round champ like winning team. That's
[10:57] Speaker 4: the best the Raptors could hope for in the Ingram formulae.
[11:00] Speaker 4: Now there are conference finals hopeful.
[11:02] Speaker 3: I would have to say yes, and maybe I'm buying
[11:05] Speaker 3: a little too much into seven games where they were dogs,
[11:09] Speaker 3: you know, they were fighting for each other, and whether
[11:12] Speaker 3: or not they can take that and roll that into
[11:14] Speaker 3: a regular season, sure, it's a question. But even without
[11:17] Speaker 3: Ingram on the floor, it was literally Kawhi and RJ.
[11:21] Speaker 3: Barrett and Jacoby Walter and Jamal Shed and your Yakab
[11:24] Speaker 3: and Calin Murray Boyles that were ready to do it.
[11:26] Speaker 1: But we know you're talking.
[11:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, excuse me, you're.
[11:29] Speaker 3: Callin Murray Boyles to to bring this team going going hard.
[11:33] Speaker 1: Well that's what we said. After even though they lost
[11:35] Speaker 1: that first round of the Cavs, it was like there
[11:37] Speaker 1: was a couple of great takeaways. One Scottie Barnes looks
[11:40] Speaker 1: like an absolute superstar in a playoff series. He looked amazing.
[11:44] Speaker 1: Colin Murray Boyles was a revelation that was huge, and
[11:46] Speaker 1: then r J. Barrett was a great, you know, sort
[11:49] Speaker 1: of secondary score there. So those were like the three
[11:51] Speaker 1: things to me that jumped out. Even Darko having the
[11:54] Speaker 1: balls to make some switches was nice to see as
[11:56] Speaker 1: a Raptors fan. Now you got to hope quickly comes back.
[12:00] Speaker 1: I mean quickly. It's the point guard here. I know
[12:01] Speaker 1: it's Scotty Barnes sort of runs it through the offense
[12:03] Speaker 1: through him, but you need his shooting, specially on this team.
[12:07] Speaker 1: And then it's Barrett, and then it's Kawhi, and then
[12:10] Speaker 1: it's Scottie Barnes, and then yeah it's Purdle probably starting.
[12:13] Speaker 1: You're hoping for some sort of bounce back there because
[12:15] Speaker 1: he was got awful for a majority of the year,
[12:17] Speaker 1: and cal Murray Boyles is looking great as a small
[12:20] Speaker 1: ball center. And then Walter shed and maybe their new
[12:24] Speaker 1: draft pick there in Alan Grays gets an opportunity here too.
[12:27] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, like that's a look. They got Kawi Leonard.
[12:31] Speaker 1: I mean in a game, in a series, if he
[12:33] Speaker 1: plays at the level he's played for the last couple
[12:35] Speaker 1: of years, when he's out there, it's a game change.
[12:37] Speaker 1: He literally is a game changer. Could We saw it
[12:38] Speaker 1: once before with their very eyes, but it was a
[12:41] Speaker 1: completely different team than it was in twenty nineteen, which
[12:44] Speaker 1: was a much more veteran led team, obviously with the
[12:47] Speaker 1: Lowry's and the darkas Halls and all that. Yeah. Wild,
[12:50] Speaker 1: I can't believe he's back. I truly could not. This
[12:53] Speaker 1: one is like, I don't know, mind boggling, like Toronto
[12:57] Speaker 1: has completely rebuilt its team since Kawi was last year.
[13:00] Speaker 1: No players from the twenty nineteen championship team remain. The
[13:03] Speaker 1: top executive Messiges Erry's gone head coach, of course, Nick
[13:06] Speaker 1: Nurse is gone, but current Raptors GM Bobby Webster is
[13:11] Speaker 1: still there. He was a part of that front office
[13:13] Speaker 1: and building the championship team the first time, and he
[13:15] Speaker 1: gets this guy. But health guy, good health guy. How
[13:20] Speaker 1: Maddy d and Jack. That's right, So there's some staples
[13:23] Speaker 1: still there. You did bring up that part though, about
[13:27] Speaker 1: the NBA currently investigating whether or not the Coppers certain
[13:31] Speaker 1: event at the Salary Cap with a sponsorship agreement between
[13:35] Speaker 1: Kawi Leonard and Aspiration, there is that no. You said, well,
[13:40] Speaker 1: even if the Clippers get dinged here, it's not like
[13:42] Speaker 1: Kawhile will get the blowback. That's what you think.
[13:44] Speaker 2: I don't think he gets I don't think he gets penalized.
[13:48] Speaker 1: Fascinating, so people put on the tinfoil hat of course,
[13:51] Speaker 1: and say, oh, I see what's going on here. It's
[13:54] Speaker 1: like they're like, okay, just if you get them back
[13:56] Speaker 1: to Toronto and we'll just let everything, everything will be chill.
[14:00] Speaker 1: You know, you sort of do them a favor. You
[14:03] Speaker 1: got him the first time, get them back there, and
[14:06] Speaker 1: then this whole Aspiration Tree thing. Don't worry about it.
[14:09] Speaker 4: Well, I mean, they're not gonna punish him. So that's
[14:13] Speaker 4: taken this long. Ain't nothing coming to the richest owner
[14:16] Speaker 4: in the league. I think that Adam would like to
[14:19] Speaker 4: protect this guy and oh, you already lost, already lost
[14:21] Speaker 4: the guy you just said. Joke for seven years, literally,
[14:24] Speaker 4: the Clippers wore a joke for the entire year of
[14:27] Speaker 4: Kawhi Leonard's tenure. There a lot of the times where
[14:29] Speaker 4: he's never playing. They were the reason we had the
[14:32] Speaker 4: player participation policy. Then they had the Aspiration scandal. Then
[14:37] Speaker 4: it was the toilets in the Internet Dome, Like it's
[14:39] Speaker 4: just Ben jokes about the Clippers, and it was maybe
[14:42] Speaker 4: their most successful era that they've had. So this is
[14:44] Speaker 4: pretty weird, and I think actually they're doing a decent
[14:47] Speaker 4: job of starting an actual rebuild here with the Harden
[14:50] Speaker 4: move at the trade deadline bringing in Darius Garland. They
[14:52] Speaker 4: shipped out Zobots, the coin flip worked out for him.
[14:55] Speaker 4: They got the number five pick, they got Keaton Woggler,
[14:57] Speaker 4: and now they got a couple of picks and swaps
[15:00] Speaker 4: in the future, which is good because they don't control
[15:02] Speaker 4: their twenty seven, twenty eight or twenty nine first round picks.
[15:05] Speaker 4: But at least they got something coming in. Apparently they're
[15:08] Speaker 4: targeting Peyton Watson.
[15:10] Speaker 5: The Clippers.
[15:12] Speaker 4: Have a future now, it seems like compared to going
[15:15] Speaker 4: into last season.
[15:16] Speaker 3: As far as the Clippers getting penalized, now that they
[15:18] Speaker 3: have so many picks, maybe he can dock them one
[15:22] Speaker 3: or two and it will be interesting to see what
[15:24] Speaker 3: they actually dock them in one of those months where
[15:27] Speaker 3: nobody really talks about the NBA or a couple of weeks.
[15:29] Speaker 3: It's going to be in August or September. Thing, all right, yeah,
[15:32] Speaker 3: just bury it Friday night.
[15:34] Speaker 1: They're gonna check Pablo Torre's summer schedule.
[15:37] Speaker 2: When's he going on vacation.
[15:39] Speaker 3: One thing that was interesting that Pablo Torre said, he
[15:42] Speaker 3: mentioned that something that Michael Grange, great Toronto writer, wrote
[15:46] Speaker 3: a while back that Michael Grange wrote that the Raptor's owner,
[15:51] Speaker 3: you know who was, once upon a time, Larry Tannembum.
[15:53] Speaker 3: He is chairman of the NBA's Board of governors. It
[15:56] Speaker 3: will be Tannembaum who will presumably have a voice in
[15:59] Speaker 3: what if anything are leveled against Bomber and the Clippers.
[16:03] Speaker 2: That's just interesting stuff.
[16:06] Speaker 3: Just interesting stuff, you know, if we're going to conspiracy
[16:08] Speaker 3: theater all over the place.
[16:10] Speaker 1: I have another question with Kui going back to Toronto,
[16:12] Speaker 1: do the Toronto restaurants still have to honor the Kawhine
[16:16] Speaker 1: and Dine offers that they made in twenty nineteen. Do
[16:20] Speaker 1: they expire at any point or are they always good?
[16:24] Speaker 1: That he can eat wherever he wants for free in
[16:26] Speaker 1: the city after helping them win a championship. Sounds like
[16:29] Speaker 1: you're asking for another investigation. They I can't do that. Well,
[16:33] Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe when you take the decal down
[16:35] Speaker 1: in the window, it's your fine. I'm not sure. I'm
[16:38] Speaker 1: sure some have kept it up.
[16:40] Speaker 3: All right.
[16:41] Speaker 1: Well, let's hear from everybody on YouTube on this one.
[16:43] Speaker 1: How do you feel about this deal? Both from both sides,
[16:46] Speaker 1: you know, the Toronto Raptors and where you sort of
[16:48] Speaker 1: put them in the pecking order of the Eastern Conference?
[16:50] Speaker 1: Is this too big of a risk by Bobby Webster
[16:53] Speaker 1: with Kawai's you know history of obviously injuries and the
[16:56] Speaker 1: load maintenance and all that. And obviously from the Clipper
[16:59] Speaker 1: side too, how they've how they've done to sort of
[17:01] Speaker 1: I guess, retool here, get younger, get younger.
[17:05] Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, they were going nowhere.
[17:07] Speaker 4: Their plan last year going into the season was let's
[17:09] Speaker 4: hope James Harden and Kawi Leonard are both healthy. When
[17:12] Speaker 4: it comes down to it, and Harden was healthy until
[17:15] Speaker 4: he wanted to be traded.
[17:16] Speaker 5: Kawhi Leonard wasn't healthy.
[17:17] Speaker 4: To start the season, hit the gas in the second
[17:20] Speaker 4: half of the season, and then they didn't even make
[17:22] Speaker 4: it to the playoffs because they were so bad because
[17:24] Speaker 4: Kawhi was out in the first half of the year.
[17:25] Speaker 5: Now they at least have a young guy.
[17:28] Speaker 4: They've got a rookie, They've got some potential in the future,
[17:32] Speaker 4: they got some cap space, they do have a beautiful arena.
[17:35] Speaker 4: They do have an owner that likes to spend money.
[17:36] Speaker 4: We'll see if he's allowed to continue spending his money,
[17:38] Speaker 4: We'll see other ways he can funnel that money to
[17:40] Speaker 4: the players, But we know he likes to spend it.
[17:43] Speaker 5: So yeah, it could be worse to be a Clippers fan.
[17:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, and you mentioned you just maybe think when you're
[17:49] Speaker 3: going through the Clippers season, Chris Paul and that whole drama,
[17:52] Speaker 3: and I'm thinking, Hey, can Chris Paul come and be
[17:55] Speaker 3: the Raptors point guard like Kyle larryis. Oh, he's retired,
[17:58] Speaker 3: but maybe he comes back, or maybe Kyle.
[18:00] Speaker 1: Kyle Lowry Saudy is going to sign with the Raptors
[18:02] Speaker 1: before he officially retires, maybe we'll get a game or two.
[18:04] Speaker 3: The oldest Kyle playing with Kawhi again.
[18:09] Speaker 4: The stream team. Where did the Raptors finish this year?
[18:11] Speaker 4: Top three, four to six, playing or the lottery? Forty
[18:15] Speaker 4: eight percent say four to six, that's right, yeah, forty
[18:18] Speaker 4: one percent, top three. Eighty nine percent are saying guaranteed
[18:23] Speaker 4: playoff team. And I think it would be a disappointment
[18:26] Speaker 4: if they're not a top six team.
[18:27] Speaker 1: God, yeah, having just been one.
[18:29] Speaker 3: I mean they were number three for a while and
[18:31] Speaker 3: then they went to number four for a long time.
[18:33] Speaker 3: They finished fifth, It better be of our right playoff team.
[18:38] Speaker 3: I think they could finish literally, yeah, three or four
[18:41] Speaker 3: at the very least.
[18:42] Speaker 1: Yeah. It's the huge part of how many games is
[18:44] Speaker 1: couill And are going to play in a regular season?
[18:47] Speaker 2: About?
[18:48] Speaker 3: Is a heart If Scotty barn is ready to lead
[18:51] Speaker 3: a team now after going through that playoffs, I mean
[18:55] Speaker 3: it's going to be a different squad too. I know
[18:57] Speaker 3: you're going to miss the scoring, but this feels like
[19:01] Speaker 3: a team that's ready to take a step up.
[19:05] Speaker 2: Regardless. If there was a brandon Ingram around.
[19:07] Speaker 1: For you, you know, the rose colored glasses for them
[19:10] Speaker 1: to really pop off and go another level here. It's
[19:12] Speaker 1: like it's gotta be quickly and or Purdle, probably just
[19:16] Speaker 1: one or the other, like getting back to like what
[19:20] Speaker 1: everybody expected or hoped for when those deals were signed,
[19:22] Speaker 1: which are now like sort of net neutral, sort of
[19:25] Speaker 1: elbatross deals on both of them. Now quickly it's got
[19:27] Speaker 1: the whole injury part and sort did Peardle with his back,
[19:30] Speaker 1: but like to me one, especially the point guard position,
[19:33] Speaker 1: like quickly he's got to like play and obviously shoot
[19:37] Speaker 1: a bunch of threes and hit them with consistency and
[19:39] Speaker 1: have a bit of a pop to them.
[19:40] Speaker 3: So last year part, yeah, last year was, Yeah, he
[19:44] Speaker 3: obviously missed the postseason and the season prior he only
[19:46] Speaker 3: played thirty three games. That was the first season where
[19:48] Speaker 3: he missed a bunch of time. But the ACA Purtle thing,
[19:51] Speaker 3: I know, the back is worrisome, but I'm less worried
[19:54] Speaker 3: about that position with Colin Murray Boyles.
[19:56] Speaker 2: Oh that helps.
[19:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, It's like if the AKA Purdle is running out
[20:00] Speaker 3: there and being your start the first quarter, start the
[20:02] Speaker 3: third quarter, and you play twenty minutes and you're you know,
[20:05] Speaker 3: you're JaVale McGee from the Warriors.
[20:07] Speaker 1: That's yeah, you just don't want to pay that guy
[20:08] Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars.
[20:09] Speaker 2: Ye, that sucks.
[20:11] Speaker 1: We're paying Purtle, you know the vet minimum. I got
[20:14] Speaker 1: no issue with it.
[20:14] Speaker 3: But yeah, then you got a rookie to fill him in.
[20:16] Speaker 3: I know it's it looked terrible going through last year.
[20:21] Speaker 3: To sign him to that huge extension, you.
[20:24] Speaker 5: Got to have one tall guy.
[20:26] Speaker 4: So I've seen a lot of people suggesting getting Pertle
[20:29] Speaker 4: in a deal with additional draft compensation because you got
[20:32] Speaker 4: to pay to get off the deal for sure. For
[20:34] Speaker 4: Miles Turner, that's the only guy I've seen suggestive for
[20:37] Speaker 4: the Raptors, but I've seen it a lot because this
[20:39] Speaker 4: is a guy that's gettable for a Yaka pearl.
[20:42] Speaker 1: Right right, Yeah, another big dude obviously can shoot a
[20:46] Speaker 1: little bit and rent protect her. But I don't love
[20:51] Speaker 1: Myles Turner all.
[20:53] Speaker 3: The Raptors or the Hawks getting Jock Landel as a steal.
[20:56] Speaker 3: It wouldn't mind a jock out there just to run around.
[20:59] Speaker 3: But you're right, the height is the worries.
[21:03] Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard going to the Toronto Raptors. I guess it's
[21:06] Speaker 1: unofficial official, so maybe it'll be tweaked a little bit,
[21:08] Speaker 1: But that was the big news of the last hour
[21:12] Speaker 1: or so. Let's keep it moving. Lots more talk about
[21:15] Speaker 1: as we are close to the six pm official start
[21:18] Speaker 1: of free agency. Lebron James will return for his twenty
[21:21] Speaker 1: fourth NBA season, but it won't be with the Lakers.
[21:25] Speaker 1: Lebron has informed LA that the franchise can move on
[21:28] Speaker 1: without him because he will be playing elsewhere. Hey, you guys,
[21:32] Speaker 1: go ahead and play without me. I'm going somewhere else,
[21:35] Speaker 1: he did tell them. Now, this is all like Sean's reporting.
[21:38] Speaker 1: It's basically Rich Paul sending a text to Sean saying, hey,
[21:41] Speaker 1: tweet this. Lebron told the Lakers before the start of
[21:44] Speaker 1: free agency tonight out of courtesy and appreciation for their
[21:48] Speaker 1: run together and to allow LA to conduct its off
[21:51] Speaker 1: season business. So, Lebron James, I'll start with you on
[21:55] Speaker 1: this one. TK. He's going to another team. Now, we
[21:58] Speaker 1: don't know where he's going. In fact, Dave mcmahamon is
[22:01] Speaker 1: saying that Lebron has told Rich Paul, you go canvas
[22:04] Speaker 1: to the league, see who's interested in me. Come back
[22:07] Speaker 1: to me with a list, and we'll go from there.
[22:10] Speaker 1: But yeah, your reaction, we don't know, we do we
[22:14] Speaker 1: we don't know that he's going to go to the Warriors.
[22:18] Speaker 4: And seeah, of course he's going to the Warriors. I
[22:20] Speaker 4: can't imagine that. Uh Rich Paul starts calling everybody up,
[22:24] Speaker 4: and it turns out Grizzly's best offer going to Memphis.
[22:27] Speaker 5: We're calling every team, let's check you with the Wizards.
[22:29] Speaker 5: O eighty wants to leave. Maybe Lebron will go there.
[22:32] Speaker 4: No, there's a couple of teams that are in the mix,
[22:34] Speaker 4: and the number one is the Golden State Warriors. But
[22:36] Speaker 4: this statement from Lebron is basically the classic George Costanza
[22:39] Speaker 4: battle for the hand.
[22:41] Speaker 5: Before the Lakers can.
[22:42] Speaker 4: Say we're out on Lebron, Lebron is saying, I'm out
[22:44] Speaker 4: on the Lakers, but I'm going away. I'm going to
[22:47] Speaker 4: play with my good friend Steph Curry, my good friend
[22:49] Speaker 4: Draymond Green, and maybe my good friend Anthony Davis.
[22:52] Speaker 5: The Warriors don't want to.
[22:53] Speaker 4: Do it, but Clutch wants the Warriors to do it
[22:57] Speaker 4: for Anthony Davis. So I think Lebron guaranteed g s
[23:00] Speaker 4: W We'll see about Anthony Davis. I have my doubts
[23:03] Speaker 4: about that one, but yeah, I mean Lebron's Lakers tenure
[23:07] Speaker 4: coming to an end. He won a championship, he got
[23:09] Speaker 4: his son drafted, he sat a whole bunch of records
[23:12] Speaker 4: in a Lakers uniform, and now he's letting them continue
[23:15] Speaker 4: on with their.
[23:17] Speaker 1: It's very kind of him. Yes, I thought to shut
[23:20] Speaker 1: down board up. What do you think?
[23:23] Speaker 3: I think it's Cleveland over Golden State, younger, deeper, Eastern confers.
[23:28] Speaker 3: You don't got a battle your Thunder and Spurs and
[23:31] Speaker 3: two consecutive series or any one of those teams.
[23:33] Speaker 2: You just look at the.
[23:35] Speaker 1: Counter, though, tough to golf in Ohio in the in
[23:38] Speaker 1: the Yeah, so true. He's really into golf right now.
[23:41] Speaker 2: He yes, I haven't been paying attention shocking him out.
[23:45] Speaker 1: He's mid crisis.
[23:50] Speaker 2: I mean, just drive a couple hours. You're in Georgia.
[23:53] Speaker 2: You're good.
[23:54] Speaker 1: And the counter is like, well, you're on the road
[23:56] Speaker 1: for half the season. Anyway, you do all your golfing
[23:58] Speaker 1: when you're on the road. So okay, So you think Cleveland.
[24:02] Speaker 3: I think it makes more sense. I mean, the lineups
[24:05] Speaker 3: with him there. If he's gonna go sign the non
[24:07] Speaker 3: taxpayer mid level exception, it's Tomvan Mitchell, James Harden Lebron,
[24:11] Speaker 3: Evan Mobley and Jared Allen. As you're starting lineup benches
[24:14] Speaker 3: shrewder Struce, Sam Merril Jal and Tyson Thomas Bryant, you
[24:18] Speaker 3: got a Craig Porter Junior and Tyresee Proctor behind you. Well,
[24:21] Speaker 3: with the Warriors, I mean it's risky time. It's Steph
[24:24] Speaker 3: and Pajemski, Lebron, Draymond and Anthony Davis. Let's say he's
[24:28] Speaker 3: there to make this team even better. And then it's Geese, Santos,
[24:32] Speaker 3: Jaxe Lndenburg, Will Richard and Porzingis and Horford. I don't
[24:35] Speaker 3: I don't get that why it's an interesting lineup to
[24:39] Speaker 3: go give Porzingis forty mili my guy who's not necessarily
[24:44] Speaker 3: going to be able to play. You want to question Kawhi.
[24:46] Speaker 3: That's a way bigger question to me. Chriss Porzingis and
[24:49] Speaker 3: old Al Horford. I mean that Warriors team is so
[24:52] Speaker 3: much older, less deep, and a tougher conference.
[24:56] Speaker 2: I don't get it.
[24:57] Speaker 1: But yeah, literally, like, let these guys have fun. What
[25:02] Speaker 1: it is?
[25:04] Speaker 3: Well, it's either I want to have fun or I
[25:06] Speaker 3: want to win my fifth And I think you're more
[25:08] Speaker 3: likely with the Calves.
[25:10] Speaker 2: Considering it's the East.
[25:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I would maybe agree with that, but
[25:14] Speaker 1: I don't think he cares about that part anymore.
[25:16] Speaker 4: No, if he like this dude was really trying to
[25:20] Speaker 4: win a fifth championship, he would not pick.
[25:22] Speaker 1: The Warriors or the Caves. He would Spurs Spurs.
[25:25] Speaker 4: Yes, he would be honestly the ideal fit for the
[25:28] Speaker 4: San Antonio Spurs. They need a four with size. They
[25:31] Speaker 4: need a guy who's reliable in clutch time. They need
[25:33] Speaker 4: a guy with a big time brain. How about Lebron James.
[25:35] Speaker 4: If he wanted to win a championship, he could go there.
[25:37] Speaker 4: He could go play with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball
[25:40] Speaker 4: in Minnesota if he wanted. The Warriors are not a
[25:42] Speaker 4: championship destination if he goes there. The Warriors themselves have
[25:46] Speaker 4: said such a thing, like Draymond and Steph are all
[25:48] Speaker 4: about making it enjoyable the last few years they play
[25:51] Speaker 4: and leaving it in a good spot for the next
[25:53] Speaker 4: generation of Warriors to come behind them.
[25:56] Speaker 5: So I think this fits in with that.
[25:58] Speaker 4: Getting the most famous player in the game to go
[26:00] Speaker 4: next to the other most famous player in the game
[26:03] Speaker 4: and Steph Curry get you enough talking points of ooh
[26:06] Speaker 4: they could beat anybody in a playoff series, and we
[26:08] Speaker 4: would all believe it. They could win any single playoff series.
[26:11] Speaker 4: Could they win four in a row? No way, no
[26:13] Speaker 4: chance that happens. But it would be fun to watch
[26:15] Speaker 4: and there would be sixty games on national TV.
[26:19] Speaker 5: That's probably an understatement.
[26:21] Speaker 1: And if it is, if he comes out and says,
[26:23] Speaker 1: this is the Swan song, this is the retirement tour,
[26:26] Speaker 1: it's a part of it as well.
[26:27] Speaker 3: Yeah, but the retirement tour has to be part of
[26:30] Speaker 3: the legacy, part of the story you write for Lebron
[26:32] Speaker 3: and I don't think it's, oh, I'm going to San
[26:34] Speaker 3: Antonio at the end of it. I don't think he
[26:36] Speaker 3: wants his book to say that as the final chapter.
[26:38] Speaker 3: I think Cleveland is much more. It means much more,
[26:42] Speaker 3: not only to him, but just to the story. When
[26:45] Speaker 3: it seemed cheap, if he goes you want a book
[26:47] Speaker 3: end it like that, it would It seemed no, it
[26:49] Speaker 3: just seemed pooh pooh. If he goes the Spurs or
[26:54] Speaker 3: he's not going to But yeah, I understand he's going
[26:58] Speaker 3: to Golden State, but it's just it's not if again,
[27:02] Speaker 3: he I guess he doesn't. If you go to Golden
[27:04] Speaker 3: State doesn't care about the fifth. Just not as fun.
[27:09] Speaker 2: It's not as fun for the I thinks for his story.
[27:12] Speaker 1: In his eyes, what's gonna ever go top twenty sixteen?
[27:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, the first CALVS title in the three to one
[27:18] Speaker 4: comeback after returning.
[27:20] Speaker 2: How about five than four championships?
[27:26] Speaker 3: Five?
[27:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a fifth.
[27:27] Speaker 3: You get two with Cleveland, you get two with Miami
[27:30] Speaker 3: and one with the Lakers.
[27:31] Speaker 2: It's just it's a better story.
[27:33] Speaker 3: The guy who cares about his story, he cares about
[27:35] Speaker 3: his leg he carries about how it all ends.
[27:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, the Golden State one's weird.
[27:39] Speaker 1: So the Lebron James Lakers tenure ends at eight seasons,
[27:44] Speaker 1: the longest he played in one spot consecutively. There twenty
[27:48] Speaker 1: twenty NBA Championship Finals, MVP, twenty twenty three NBA Cup. Yep,
[27:54] Speaker 1: don't forget that. Eight All Star selections in the Purple
[27:57] Speaker 1: and Cold, seven All NBA selections He missed out year
[28:00] Speaker 1: with only sixty games played. He also broke the all
[28:03] Speaker 1: time NBA scoring record, and he became the first player
[28:06] Speaker 1: in NBA history to share the court with his son.
[28:08] Speaker 1: And I bring that up because an underrated part of
[28:10] Speaker 1: all this is Bronni James contract with the Lakers became
[28:14] Speaker 1: fully guaranteed for two point three million dollars yesterday. Well
[28:19] Speaker 1: that's interesting timing, isn't In the next thing you say,
[28:23] Speaker 1: all right, all out of here, but we'll make sure
[28:26] Speaker 1: that my son gets the fully guaranteed deal. So yeah,
[28:29] Speaker 1: pretty impressive. People say, like, that's a Hall of Fame
[28:32] Speaker 1: career just with the Lakers, Like take away everything else,
[28:37] Speaker 1: would that be enough? I mean, I just gave you
[28:40] Speaker 1: a lot of accolades and a championship. Probably damn damn close.
[28:44] Speaker 2: If not, yeah, no doubt.
[28:47] Speaker 1: So you think maybe Cavs though, you think Warriors. Now
[28:50] Speaker 1: you think this is gonna happen. Well, it's after six o'clock. Now,
[28:52] Speaker 1: you don't think they're gonna drag this out that whole
[28:55] Speaker 1: mcmanhimon like.
[28:56] Speaker 2: I could say that.
[28:56] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Lebron drags everything out for the most part,
[28:59] Speaker 4: but they've had one minute to it negotiates.
[29:01] Speaker 1: I wouldn't be.
[29:01] Speaker 5: Surprised if they come to a deal here.
[29:03] Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, we shall see.
[29:05] Speaker 4: Though there is reporting now that it's dying on the vine,
[29:07] Speaker 4: the dream of Ad and Lebron. Yeah, Loadyards want to
[29:11] Speaker 4: keep Ad, but will they pay him, I pay him
[29:14] Speaker 4: a max contract. Please don't do it.
[29:16] Speaker 1: And of course Jimmy Butler would have to go to
[29:18] Speaker 1: the Wizards to get ad. Yeah, like there's just no
[29:21] Speaker 1: way around that. It would have to be him, and
[29:23] Speaker 1: but you know a lot of things have to happen,
[29:26] Speaker 1: so it included in all of this. As we talk
[29:28] Speaker 1: about Lebron, where do you want to see him go?
[29:31] Speaker 1: What would be the I don't know your ideal landing
[29:33] Speaker 1: spot for him? Is it Golden State? Is it Cleveland? Yeah?
[29:38] Speaker 1: Those seem to be like the three Uh. I don't
[29:41] Speaker 1: know biggest storylines where he could land, but you tell
[29:44] Speaker 1: us Draymond Green declined his player option with the Warriors.
[29:48] Speaker 1: It's sort of like got everyone going, well, what's going
[29:50] Speaker 1: on here? That may be a little shocking. Are the
[29:53] Speaker 1: Warriors hoping to make some moves? He's talked about it
[29:55] Speaker 1: on his podcast. I believe since Kristaps Porzingis has tasked
[29:58] Speaker 1: to agree to a two year, forty min million dollar
[30:00] Speaker 1: extension with the Warriors, and then now Horford we knew
[30:04] Speaker 1: that a couple of days ago, also sticking around there.
[30:06] Speaker 1: So that's the Warriors and we can get in then
[30:08] Speaker 1: into the Lakers side of things, which I want to
[30:10] Speaker 1: do because now, of course this is the Luka Doncricira.
[30:13] Speaker 1: But yeah, anything else on the Warriors and the Draymond
[30:16] Speaker 1: Green and Porzingis and Horford of it all, well.
[30:17] Speaker 3: I think this is Draymond Green not taking the player
[30:21] Speaker 3: option is basically him saying to Lebron, we will make
[30:24] Speaker 3: every compromise for you. Let me take a step back.
[30:27] Speaker 3: We will pay everybody else. I think it's a memo.
[30:30] Speaker 3: It's a memo to Rich Paul or memdo Lebron, and
[30:33] Speaker 3: it's also a memo of Anthony Davis.
[30:35] Speaker 2: Hey, do whatever you need.
[30:37] Speaker 3: Well, look at me, look at me. I'm taking less money.
[30:40] Speaker 3: You know, we'll do anything in gold State. I think
[30:42] Speaker 3: that's all this. Draymond Green in particular is the Kris
[30:46] Speaker 3: STAPs Porzingis.
[30:47] Speaker 2: I mean that shocked me.
[30:48] Speaker 3: You go get big al and then you decide to
[30:51] Speaker 3: give forty to Christaps. That's that was surprising to me,
[30:55] Speaker 3: and that's why I was kind of leaning if you're
[30:57] Speaker 3: paying all these guys, maybe you're not paying Lebron and
[31:02] Speaker 3: Anthony Davis. But DVD, I think this is just Draymond
[31:05] Speaker 3: Green say it. It'll be great to see you here
[31:08] Speaker 3: in Golden State one day, Lebron.
[31:09] Speaker 1: Imagine the podcasting we could do together. Oh my god,
[31:12] Speaker 1: these guys are best buddies. You know, in podcasting when
[31:15] Speaker 1: you do it on zoom, it's different than doing in person.
[31:18] Speaker 2: Yea truth.
[31:19] Speaker 1: Imagine we could be together. It'd be great. What do
[31:21] Speaker 1: you think?
[31:22] Speaker 5: Yeah, Test is right.
[31:23] Speaker 4: This is Draymond basically being Tom Brady saying I'm going
[31:26] Speaker 4: to take less so that we can make our team better.
[31:28] Speaker 4: That means adding Lebron, if that means alling Al Horford,
[31:32] Speaker 4: Christaps porzingis They're like, okay, look, all of our centers
[31:36] Speaker 4: can only play sixty games a season, but if we
[31:38] Speaker 4: got enough of them, maybe it lines up perfectly that
[31:41] Speaker 4: there's eighty two games of big man play around. And
[31:43] Speaker 4: when you think about it as twenty five million combined
[31:46] Speaker 4: for Kris STAPs and Al Horford, that's like center money,
[31:50] Speaker 4: so split between two guys, and you hope that they
[31:53] Speaker 4: both make it through the season. Horford, I thought, had
[31:56] Speaker 4: a down year for the most part, had some decent moments.
[31:59] Speaker 4: At the end, I guess just literally could not play.
[32:01] Speaker 4: He's probably the biggest dice roll in the NBA. Will
[32:04] Speaker 4: he show up on the injury report from night to night.
[32:07] Speaker 4: But he's a productive player when he's out there. That
[32:11] Speaker 4: doesn't seem like a thing that's going to change immediately
[32:14] Speaker 4: to me. But he's the young guy on this team
[32:16] Speaker 4: at thirty years old. Well, and at this point, it's
[32:18] Speaker 4: kind of like, can we find a taker for Moses Moody?
[32:21] Speaker 4: Can we use one of our future first round draft
[32:22] Speaker 4: picks to get off of his contract this year since
[32:24] Speaker 4: he's dueling with rehab from a knee injury. And if
[32:28] Speaker 4: that's the case, then they can get Lebron in on
[32:31] Speaker 4: whatever they're calling it, the mid level Exception or whatever,
[32:35] Speaker 4: fifteen million dollars ish the tiny, tiny contract that Lebron's
[32:38] Speaker 4: going to sign. So yeah, the Warriors are going to
[32:40] Speaker 4: be like a fun tribute act, you know, like I
[32:44] Speaker 4: love going and see Dead and Company hit the sphere.
[32:46] Speaker 4: It's not seeing the Grateful Dead. This ain't seeing Lebron
[32:49] Speaker 4: and Steph in twenty twelve. This ain't seeing Lebron and
[32:51] Speaker 4: Steph in twenty sixteen. But you're seeing him in twenty
[32:53] Speaker 4: twenty six, twenty twenty seven. It's still exciting.
[32:55] Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite for a potential name for
[32:58] Speaker 1: this Super Old Warrior Squad if it is Steph Lebron,
[33:01] Speaker 1: Draymond Green, maybe Anthony Davis. People are saying the expendables
[33:07] Speaker 1: Olden State Warriors. I do like Olden State Warriors, the
[33:10] Speaker 1: Golden State Girls straight up Golden years. The unction made
[33:16] Speaker 1: me laugh. Any others or any favorites of a bunch
[33:20] Speaker 1: like you liked Olden State Warriors, just keep it simple.
[33:22] Speaker 1: Some Olden State Warriors is very funny.
[33:24] Speaker 4: That's the pejorative name, but the complimentary name and the
[33:28] Speaker 4: name they should call themselves if it does come to
[33:29] Speaker 4: fruition the Golden Generation since Steph and Lebron went and
[33:32] Speaker 4: won the twenty twenty four gold together.
[33:34] Speaker 3: Okay, nice, Yeah, I can't help. But like the Olden
[33:38] Speaker 3: State Warriors, you can also come out to old songs
[33:42] Speaker 3: during intros.
[33:43] Speaker 2: You know, and make it a whole thing. Give it.
[33:46] Speaker 3: Give the love to older songs that they deserve. You know,
[33:49] Speaker 3: by older, I mean yeah two thousand and two, not
[33:54] Speaker 3: super old old old songs that these guys love. Have
[33:59] Speaker 3: to come out party, come out every single night to
[34:01] Speaker 3: whatever song he wants.
[34:03] Speaker 1: Not bring him out the Lakers. DeAndre Ayton picked up
[34:06] Speaker 1: his Lakers option. Marcus Smart opted out. So after you
[34:10] Speaker 1: subtract Lebron's cap hold, opt in DeAndre Eton, remove Marcus Smart,
[34:16] Speaker 1: and you leave hold for like Jackson Hayes and Austin
[34:18] Speaker 1: Reees of course, and adding one more roster hold for
[34:21] Speaker 1: the minimum, the Lakers are going to have about fifty
[34:24] Speaker 1: to fifty one million dollars in cap room here that
[34:28] Speaker 1: they could split amongst players. So like they're one of
[34:31] Speaker 1: the rare teams with potentially here. It looks like a
[34:34] Speaker 1: lot of cap room here. So Lakers with Lebron leaving here,
[34:38] Speaker 1: tk Luca era officially started. You know, they obviously played
[34:42] Speaker 1: a little bit together, but this seems like a part
[34:44] Speaker 1: of the equation here, Like agad, I think some people
[34:47] Speaker 1: are wondering how much was this, Like really Lebron saying
[34:50] Speaker 1: I'm leaving, yes, and instead the Lakers allowing him the
[34:54] Speaker 1: optics of that, and really they were ready to move
[34:58] Speaker 1: on and like let's get really started officially here with
[35:00] Speaker 1: how we're building this team around him.
[35:01] Speaker 2: But your thoughts.
[35:03] Speaker 4: Ramona Shelbourne did report today that Luca was shown like
[35:07] Speaker 4: a twenty twenty six projection by the Lakers front office
[35:11] Speaker 4: and it did not include Lebron James for twenty twenty six.
[35:14] Speaker 1: So the writing was on the wall both ways.
[35:18] Speaker 4: And the Lakers in the Rob Polinka era have been
[35:23] Speaker 4: a really good team at superstar relations.
[35:25] Speaker 2: Right.
[35:25] Speaker 4: They gave Kobe the gigantic contract at the end of
[35:27] Speaker 4: his career when he was past his prime, but they
[35:30] Speaker 4: wanted him to retire a Laker. That paid us off
[35:32] Speaker 4: in the future by Lebron wanting to become a Laker.
[35:35] Speaker 4: And now if they let him go out saying I'm
[35:37] Speaker 4: the one who's leaving, that also looks good and it
[35:40] Speaker 4: keeps everybody copasetic for a weird changing of the torch
[35:44] Speaker 4: that nobody expected to happen. Luka Doncis wasn't ever supposed
[35:47] Speaker 4: to be a Laker, but suddenly he is, and now
[35:48] Speaker 4: we're trying to figure things out on the fly, And
[35:50] Speaker 4: that's what would have me frustrated if I'm a Lakers fan.
[35:53] Speaker 4: They knew this was going to be a huge summer
[35:55] Speaker 4: for them after the Luca trade, and now if Lebron leaves,
[35:59] Speaker 4: potentially Marcus is leaving as well. There had been reporting
[36:02] Speaker 4: that r. Hachamura wouldn't be coming back. It's like, what
[36:05] Speaker 4: are you doing?
[36:06] Speaker 2: Right?
[36:07] Speaker 4: What are the Lakers doing they're just seeing people leave, leave, leave,
[36:10] Speaker 4: without any sort of way to acquire talent. They had
[36:14] Speaker 4: to pay Austin Reeves. He's Luca's guy. They need a
[36:16] Speaker 4: second star outside of Luka Doncic, but the cupboard's pretty
[36:21] Speaker 4: bare for this Lakers team outside.
[36:22] Speaker 1: Of the top two. They might be hoping that they
[36:25] Speaker 1: can get a big guy, literally a big guy in
[36:27] Speaker 1: restricted free agency, be it Walker Kessler or Jalen Duran,
[36:30] Speaker 1: which we can get into. Maybe that is a part
[36:33] Speaker 1: of the plan, but restrictive for agency obviously, tough teams
[36:35] Speaker 1: can match and stuff like that. What do you think
[36:37] Speaker 1: of the Lakers here?
[36:40] Speaker 3: I think they're definitely focused on the guys you just mentioned,
[36:43] Speaker 3: and in Jalen Duran to be a huge center, or
[36:46] Speaker 3: Walker Kessler to start for DeAndre Ayton, who's only making
[36:50] Speaker 3: eight million dollars with this player option. That's backup money,
[36:53] Speaker 3: so ideally that they have somebody starting in front of him.
[36:57] Speaker 3: Great for Marcus Smart to say, hey, I don't want
[36:59] Speaker 3: my play option. A year after he took this contract,
[37:04] Speaker 3: which was preceded by two seasons, he played fifty four
[37:07] Speaker 3: games total, so great for him to go get another contract.
[37:11] Speaker 3: People questioned whether he was done or not. So yes,
[37:15] Speaker 3: it's what what are you doing Lakers? After Austin Reeves
[37:20] Speaker 3: joins Luka Doncic in the back court with a very
[37:22] Speaker 3: very big contract, So it all depends what they do afterwards.
[37:25] Speaker 3: I thought maybe you would have seen skeets Draymond Green
[37:28] Speaker 3: talking about Austin Reeves on his podcast. He basically said, that's.
[37:32] Speaker 2: A lot of money. You got to be ready to.
[37:34] Speaker 3: Come in and perform in April and May and June
[37:38] Speaker 3: every single postseason.
[37:39] Speaker 2: Now.
[37:40] Speaker 3: Now, a lot of that is who's around him, and
[37:43] Speaker 3: that's what a Luka Doncic team is. Who's playing the
[37:45] Speaker 3: three four five to you know, do the fighting and
[37:48] Speaker 3: scrapping alongside you to be a really good team.
[37:52] Speaker 2: So we'll see what they can build.
[37:53] Speaker 4: Well, that's the question is because I'm with you, they
[37:56] Speaker 4: should be chasing after both of the restricted free agents,
[37:58] Speaker 4: and by all accounts, they're going to They're gonna get
[38:01] Speaker 4: in the mix for Duran, They're going to get in
[38:02] Speaker 4: the mix for Walker Kessler. Uh. If I was picking
[38:05] Speaker 4: the two of them, I guess Duran would probably be
[38:07] Speaker 4: most likely to be maxed.
[38:09] Speaker 5: He's got more of an offensive ceiling. We saw how
[38:11] Speaker 5: the playoffs went.
[38:12] Speaker 4: But I think, you know, the Lakers, they don't have
[38:14] Speaker 4: a lot of choices out there now. Both of these
[38:16] Speaker 4: guys are restricted free agents. I think both of their
[38:18] Speaker 4: teams would match a reasonable deal, and that takes time.
[38:22] Speaker 4: That's like four days that if the Lakers make the
[38:24] Speaker 4: offer sheet, the offer sheet is signed by Kessler or
[38:28] Speaker 4: by Jalen Duran, that's four days when the Lakers can't
[38:31] Speaker 4: do anything with any of their cap space. Then they
[38:32] Speaker 4: see all of these free agents, a bad crop of
[38:35] Speaker 4: free agents that we've talked about here, not the most
[38:37] Speaker 4: exciting time to have cap space. See all these guys
[38:39] Speaker 4: get signed, and then they lose on them the guy
[38:42] Speaker 4: they actually offered money to that's even worse. So they're
[38:44] Speaker 4: kind of in a tough spot where it's hard for
[38:46] Speaker 4: them to even chase after the two guys that they
[38:47] Speaker 4: need the most.
[38:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you could see them going to get
[38:51] Speaker 3: all Luca's teammates from before, like a Daniel Gafford or
[38:55] Speaker 3: some big to help them out.
[38:57] Speaker 2: It's true.
[38:58] Speaker 3: We'll see what they can do with the RUI signing
[39:01] Speaker 3: if they can basically, you know, run a lot of
[39:03] Speaker 3: the team back. But I wonder what the Jalen Duran
[39:07] Speaker 3: move is here? Is it a negotiation tactic for the
[39:10] Speaker 3: Pistons to basically be dealing with the Lakers and the
[39:12] Speaker 3: Kings who don't have the room to sign him to
[39:16] Speaker 3: a contract, it would probably have to be a sign
[39:19] Speaker 3: in trade to get somebody back to Detroit. So this
[39:24] Speaker 3: could all just be a negotiation tactic for Jalen Duran
[39:26] Speaker 3: because in the Lakers situation, it's four years on hundred
[39:29] Speaker 3: and seventy seven million dollars as the max for Jalen
[39:32] Speaker 3: during Yeah, unless I'm mistaken, but that's that's the most
[39:36] Speaker 3: money he can make outside of Detroit. Well, in Detroit
[39:38] Speaker 3: he can make a monster deal five years, two hundred
[39:40] Speaker 3: and eighty seven, which they're not offering anything close to.
[39:44] Speaker 3: So is this just hey, you give me something some more?
[39:47] Speaker 3: Like is he even going to sign a restricted free
[39:49] Speaker 3: agent offer? Or is he going back to Detroit because
[39:52] Speaker 3: Detroit is super thin now after trying Isaiah Stewart.
[39:55] Speaker 2: They're bigless. I mean, Paul Reid is their guy. That's it.
[40:00] Speaker 4: Reporting from Mark Spears says the Detroit Pistons have offered,
[40:03] Speaker 4: but the franchise believes is the most lucrative contract possible
[40:07] Speaker 4: for their all star restricted free agent Jalen Duran. They're
[40:10] Speaker 4: also not interested in any sign and trade deals and
[40:12] Speaker 4: will match any potential offersheet he signs.
[40:14] Speaker 1: Okay, so I.
[40:16] Speaker 4: Think it is it was one hundred percent leverage plays
[40:18] Speaker 4: from Jailn Duran's side because they have zero leverage. Yeah,
[40:22] Speaker 4: he's got Jalen Duran's going to be a Piston next year.
[40:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Pistons need him. And yeah, like
[40:27] Speaker 3: it could easily be Walker Kestler. Yeah, because the moretible
[40:32] Speaker 3: because of the Jazz matching a big contract to Walker Kessler.
[40:35] Speaker 2: I doubt it.
[40:35] Speaker 3: With the bigs that they have now in Jeron Jackson
[40:38] Speaker 3: Junior and Lowry, I think they may not match.
[40:43] Speaker 1: I I will say I sort of, I mean, I'm
[40:46] Speaker 1: with you. I think Jalen Duran ultimately stays with Detroit
[40:49] Speaker 1: here and whatever number they agree on, Like I sort
[40:51] Speaker 1: of like respect them for like not just giving them
[40:54] Speaker 1: what you know, the max right away, especially after what
[40:56] Speaker 1: we saw, like I've just been malpractice for yourzation because
[41:00] Speaker 1: then it's like you suddenly all your money is in
[41:02] Speaker 1: the two guys in Kid obviously well worth it. And
[41:05] Speaker 1: then Jaleen Duran, who does not appear to be that
[41:07] Speaker 1: super Max type player. So you got to bring it
[41:09] Speaker 1: down man, Okay, go do what you gotta do and
[41:12] Speaker 1: restrictive free agency. You talk the big game of the
[41:14] Speaker 1: sign and trade, but we want you, We do want you.
[41:16] Speaker 1: We just want to be able to put a better
[41:18] Speaker 1: team around you and see you grow into obviously your
[41:21] Speaker 1: huge payday. So like, I mean, I guess I'm getting
[41:24] Speaker 1: what I'm you know, good job by the agents and
[41:26] Speaker 1: Jalen Duran for trying to sort of slow play this
[41:29] Speaker 1: a little bit. But I love that the Pistons didn't
[41:30] Speaker 1: just like, oh, let's freak out and automatically just give
[41:32] Speaker 1: whatever he wants. Like they're trying to negotiate in good faith.
[41:35] Speaker 1: I think here so we'll see what the number ends
[41:38] Speaker 1: on all.
[41:38] Speaker 5: The Pistons are.
[41:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the Pistons are trying to get a
[41:40] Speaker 4: good deal. Yeah, but I think he's not worth to
[41:43] Speaker 4: eighty seven. I totally agree. I totally some teams we've
[41:45] Speaker 4: seen before, Why do the opposite? Like I laugh a
[41:48] Speaker 4: little bit at this Mark Spears. They're like they're offering
[41:50] Speaker 4: the largest contract they believe is possible. We all know
[41:53] Speaker 4: what the largest contract is possible, and if you offer
[41:55] Speaker 4: that guaranteed, Jalen duran is going to sign it.
[41:58] Speaker 2: Problem.
[41:58] Speaker 4: So it isn't actually a two hundred eighty seven million
[42:00] Speaker 4: dollar offer, right, So they are trying to get a
[42:03] Speaker 4: good deal on Jalen Durha because he played a bad
[42:05] Speaker 4: twelve games. Yeah, that's kind of what the look is
[42:07] Speaker 4: and unfortunately for him, the worst possible timing.
[42:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, to play that port to me, they're trying to
[42:12] Speaker 1: get him at two hundred million dollars. Yeah, that's what
[42:14] Speaker 1: the number is. It's like, come on, we're talking two
[42:16] Speaker 1: hundred here, man, let's go. That's a lot of money.
[42:18] Speaker 1: You're great, let's go. This will be awesome. We got
[42:20] Speaker 1: a team here, we won sixty games. Hopefully you're better
[42:22] Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Hopefully we can build around you. You know,
[42:26] Speaker 1: I know you made All NBA and you're eligible for
[42:28] Speaker 1: Super Max two seven, but you did not impress us
[42:31] Speaker 1: in the postseason. So we'll see what they ultimately decide on,
[42:34] Speaker 1: but I think he stays there. They did some other work, though,
[42:38] Speaker 1: The Pistons Kevin Herder to sign a three year, twenty
[42:42] Speaker 1: seven million dollar deal to return to Detroit. This was
[42:46] Speaker 1: one from today that I was like, what, why, He's
[42:52] Speaker 1: not good? So I was shocked by this number.
[42:57] Speaker 3: But nine million a year is not a lot for
[42:59] Speaker 3: a decent basketball player with the team option for the
[43:03] Speaker 3: third a year there. He went to Detroit in February,
[43:07] Speaker 3: he was injured right away. As Jamie Bickerstaff said, he
[43:10] Speaker 3: never got into a flow with our rotations and all that.
[43:13] Speaker 3: When he went out there, he was decent. He's still
[43:16] Speaker 3: young enough to be a decent player, and they're desperate
[43:18] Speaker 3: for shooters, so they bring him back at nine per Okay,
[43:22] Speaker 3: I'm a herder believer and that he can contribute. He
[43:26] Speaker 3: does good things when he's out there, and when he's healthy.
[43:28] Speaker 3: He can't put it on the floor a little bit.
[43:30] Speaker 3: He can play, make a little bit. They need guys,
[43:32] Speaker 3: So at nine million, I don't think this is a
[43:34] Speaker 3: reach at all.
[43:35] Speaker 4: Troy, I disagree. I think it's wheerver for Kevin Werter.
[43:39] Speaker 4: He's been a below average three point shooter for the
[43:41] Speaker 4: past three seasons. The only reason the Pistons gave him
[43:44] Speaker 4: this deal is because you need to have contracts like
[43:46] Speaker 4: this on your books to be able to trade him.
[43:48] Speaker 5: Same reason.
[43:49] Speaker 4: Buddy Healed got ten million guaranteed from the Hawks. It's
[43:52] Speaker 4: nice to have this salary slot on the books to
[43:54] Speaker 4: throw in somewhere. This is just useful filler for another team,
[43:57] Speaker 4: because if Kevin Herder was going to be a part
[43:59] Speaker 4: of the equation for the Pistons, he would have played
[44:02] Speaker 4: in the playoffs. They traded for him at the deadline,
[44:04] Speaker 4: never gotten the rotation, barely got in the rotation during
[44:07] Speaker 4: the playoffs. So I was a little surprised that year's
[44:10] Speaker 4: two and three on this deal. We're not non guaranteed.
[44:14] Speaker 4: We haven't heard that yet, right, because that.
[44:15] Speaker 2: Would have made see for the third year, So I
[44:17] Speaker 2: guess that one for sure.
[44:19] Speaker 4: But I thought it would be we'll give you a
[44:21] Speaker 4: nine million this year, non guaranteed for year two, non
[44:23] Speaker 4: guaranteed for year three. That would have made sense to
[44:26] Speaker 4: me because the only reason he's getting this kind of
[44:28] Speaker 4: a deal is because he came became a free agent
[44:31] Speaker 4: during this new CBA, when it's going to be important
[44:33] Speaker 4: to make sure you have that level of contract to
[44:36] Speaker 4: throw into the mix, because he's not even going to
[44:37] Speaker 4: be worth nine million dollars a year for the Pistols.
[44:39] Speaker 1: So you're you're if you'll be betting on Kevin Hurder
[44:41] Speaker 1: not finishing this contract though with did definitely. I think
[44:45] Speaker 1: I'm with you on that one.
[44:47] Speaker 2: He was hurt this year. I know you might be
[44:48] Speaker 2: mad because he was a bull and I watched him.
[44:51] Speaker 5: I watched a lot.
[44:52] Speaker 1: We watched a lot of them here in Atlanta.
[44:54] Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean he was decent Atlanta six years ago.
[44:57] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, at the start of his career.
[44:59] Speaker 2: It was while ago. Yeah.
[45:01] Speaker 3: In Sacramento it was all right, but then he asked
[45:03] Speaker 3: a couple of years he's falling apart.
[45:06] Speaker 1: We had a big trade last night. We did an
[45:08] Speaker 1: emergency podcast for it, and that was the Grizzlies trading
[45:11] Speaker 1: John Morant to the Blazers. Now, me and Trey we
[45:13] Speaker 1: talked about it. Tasks. Interested to hear your thoughts. Here
[45:16] Speaker 1: are the details, by the way, no picks, pretty simple.
[45:20] Speaker 1: John Morant to the Portland Trailblazers and Jeremy Grant and
[45:23] Speaker 1: Chris Murray to the Memphis Grizzlies. What were your reaction
[45:26] Speaker 1: to this?
[45:27] Speaker 3: Well, I jumped in and I thought, okay, John Rant
[45:30] Speaker 3: excited to be in Portland, new start, playing for a
[45:33] Speaker 3: new career. Obviously, like everybody else whoa that's a lot
[45:37] Speaker 3: of point guards. But then I started to think. I
[45:39] Speaker 3: started to think John Morant playing alongside Damian Lillard is
[45:44] Speaker 3: more like Dame playing off the ball. At his age
[45:47] Speaker 3: and who he is, I mean, he was more like
[45:50] Speaker 3: a shooting garden you put beside them at Timani Kamara,
[45:53] Speaker 3: long lengthy guys and Denny Abdia, who will prove to
[45:56] Speaker 3: be a better defender than he was this past year
[45:58] Speaker 3: when he's not carrying the ball all the time. I
[45:59] Speaker 3: think think he has been earlier in his career when
[46:01] Speaker 3: he didn't have to be the guy and Donovan klinging
[46:04] Speaker 3: at center.
[46:05] Speaker 2: But then you start doing it, but that's the problem.
[46:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, and yes, Scoot was on the bench last year
[46:10] Speaker 3: and so he's going to do it again. Drew Holliday
[46:12] Speaker 3: and a really interesting one where I think, if you
[46:16] Speaker 3: size up the guy can play three At times he's
[46:19] Speaker 3: teamy tiny, but because he's so tough, so there's lots
[46:23] Speaker 3: of questions. And then the shadon sharp shade sharp is
[46:25] Speaker 3: the biggest question I think. But I think he may
[46:28] Speaker 3: be a guy who is expendable somewhere down the road.
[46:30] Speaker 3: But again I think this is just the Blazer's front
[46:34] Speaker 3: office and saying okay, it costs too much for Jalen Brown,
[46:37] Speaker 3: So let's take a chance on this guy, and if
[46:39] Speaker 3: it doesn't work out with John Morant, we'll just move
[46:41] Speaker 3: on because they gave up Jeremy Grant and they give
[46:44] Speaker 3: up Chris Murray. So that's where they are, and we'll
[46:47] Speaker 3: see what John Morant can do in a new environment
[46:50] Speaker 3: if he can be a team guy, because he was
[46:52] Speaker 3: more of a guy, even though he didn't like it
[46:54] Speaker 3: under Tuamas silo in Memphis where he wasn't the point
[46:57] Speaker 3: guard handling the ball all the time. So he's used
[47:00] Speaker 3: to that and he's playing for his NBA career in
[47:03] Speaker 3: a way, I mean his reputation with two years guaranteed.
[47:05] Speaker 1: Left anything else to add from last night's emergency.
[47:09] Speaker 5: Podcast, No, I'm with you.
[47:10] Speaker 4: I think it's just a great dice roll for the
[47:13] Speaker 4: Blazers to basically upgrade the volatility of Jeremy Grant's contract,
[47:18] Speaker 4: which you are already regretting. It's a bottom five contract
[47:21] Speaker 4: in the league, as is this Jamrant one. But the
[47:24] Speaker 4: Jaw one you have more confidence than he could be
[47:27] Speaker 4: above water on like the Jeremy Grant one, which is
[47:29] Speaker 4: probably going to stay underwater since he doesn't bring anything
[47:32] Speaker 4: else of value besides kind of corner three point shooting.
[47:35] Speaker 5: At this point is his career.
[47:36] Speaker 4: I don't know if Jaw's ever going to give back
[47:39] Speaker 4: to the level of player we saw early in Memphis,
[47:42] Speaker 4: but there have been flashes during his little five game
[47:45] Speaker 4: runs here and there where he still looks like he
[47:47] Speaker 4: can at least be an effective player. I think this
[47:49] Speaker 4: is just a good talent play for the Blazers, who
[47:52] Speaker 4: are not a place that signs big time free agents,
[47:55] Speaker 4: like they have to be smart with their drafting, they
[47:57] Speaker 4: have to be smart with their free agent signings, they
[47:59] Speaker 4: have to be with their trades. So getting a Bilo
[48:01] Speaker 4: guy like John Morant, I think is great. I think
[48:03] Speaker 4: they will then just have to figure out what to
[48:05] Speaker 4: do with all of the duplication up and down the roster,
[48:08] Speaker 4: because there's like six guys who could be starting two
[48:11] Speaker 4: spots here from the Blazers. They're gonna have to balance
[48:14] Speaker 4: the roster some way somehow. They did bring back Robert Williams,
[48:18] Speaker 4: kind of not surprising to me. The young Hanson pick
[48:21] Speaker 4: is just very strange. If they're gonna keep him. If
[48:23] Speaker 4: they're gonna keep Williams, they're gonna keep clinging. What's the
[48:26] Speaker 4: point of drafting Hanson. I guess maybe that's why the
[48:27] Speaker 4: guy that drafted and was working for a different team
[48:29] Speaker 4: at this point.
[48:30] Speaker 1: But I don't know.
[48:31] Speaker 4: They need some size in the in between. They got
[48:33] Speaker 4: a lot of guards, they got a couple of big guys.
[48:35] Speaker 4: They need some threes and fours and a little bit
[48:38] Speaker 4: of depth. But I like it for Portland, and I
[48:41] Speaker 4: assume it's not the only move we're going to see
[48:42] Speaker 4: from them this week.
[48:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, time, Lord, Robert Williams a third agreeing to a
[48:45] Speaker 1: three or forty four million dollar contract to the So
[48:50] Speaker 1: that's you know, they're they're they're hoping that they do
[48:53] Speaker 1: have their centers unless there's a big move. And I
[48:55] Speaker 1: want to get your opinions on the Jail and Brown
[48:57] Speaker 1: of it all. But yeah, right now, clinging time lord,
[49:00] Speaker 1: And then I guess hantson a little bit there as
[49:02] Speaker 1: your center rotation. But do you think this is more
[49:06] Speaker 1: or less likely now that a Jaalen Brown to Portland
[49:08] Speaker 1: trade happens. What's your take on that.
[49:11] Speaker 3: I think it's less likely now, Okay. I think Tom
[49:14] Speaker 3: Dundan likes deals, and the Jalen Brown deal was a
[49:17] Speaker 3: tough one that I'm sure Brad Stevens was asking for.
[49:20] Speaker 3: He's asking for a lot, and so they've made a
[49:24] Speaker 3: different direction.
[49:24] Speaker 1: But you didn't give up any picks to get John Morant. Yeah,
[49:27] Speaker 1: you still have the full coupboard of picks. You do
[49:29] Speaker 1: if that's a huge part in the Jaalen Brown of
[49:31] Speaker 1: it all, no doubt, obviously. Now you have a guard
[49:33] Speaker 1: two that's expendable. Probably have to be a sharp ascut.
[49:38] Speaker 1: Maybe Kamara. I think the Klingon's to hold up. But
[49:40] Speaker 1: they they could of course probably get them, but maybe
[49:43] Speaker 1: they don't want them now and they're like, eh, let's
[49:45] Speaker 1: just try this crazy lineup we got here. We had
[49:47] Speaker 1: all these point guards, some very talented offensive ones. We
[49:50] Speaker 1: think we got enough defense in Kamara and Klinging around
[49:55] Speaker 1: them to sort of hold up. We got a new coach,
[49:58] Speaker 1: let's give this a go. That could be the play.
[50:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, and good for Robert Williams to get three years
[50:02] Speaker 3: guaranteed after last year.
[50:04] Speaker 2: He hasn't played a lot, but.
[50:06] Speaker 1: Good for one. No, he's always bagged.
[50:10] Speaker 2: But yeah, last year was a decent year.
[50:12] Speaker 4: Well, we got our first Sham's bomb of the official
[50:14] Speaker 4: free agency.
[50:15] Speaker 1: Here we go. I don't even know what it is.
[50:16] Speaker 1: So here we go. Get ready, you're both setting down.
[50:19] Speaker 1: This is good.
[50:20] Speaker 4: Free agent forward Usman Jang has agreed to a three year,
[50:22] Speaker 4: seventeen point five million to return to the Bucks.
[50:25] Speaker 2: Okay, there we go.
[50:26] Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, the Jang Steaks has come to a close. Wow,
[50:30] Speaker 4: twenty three minutes past the hour.
[50:32] Speaker 1: Okay, so that's the the first one, the first since
[50:35] Speaker 1: six pm here Eastern. Oh exciting stuff.
[50:38] Speaker 5: Of course, was a Michael tell him deal.
[50:40] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm happy for rut Costas helped out.
[50:44] Speaker 4: Oh but tell him, Michael, boy, Michael, tell him. Congratulations
[50:51] Speaker 4: to Usman. You you moved up from the B block
[50:53] Speaker 4: to the A block.
[50:54] Speaker 5: Buddy, good time.
[50:55] Speaker 1: And yeah, wait to slip it in there. All right,
[50:56] Speaker 1: let's take a quick break here and we'll see if
[50:59] Speaker 1: another show bomb drops, and then we'll get into a
[51:02] Speaker 1: bunch of the other transactions that have been reported over
[51:05] Speaker 1: the last little bit.
[51:07] Speaker 4: The biggest stage in world soccer is here, and every
[51:09] Speaker 4: goal changes everything, isn't that right, Earling Holland?
[51:14] Speaker 5: Wow, and I see that game winner today?
[51:16] Speaker 1: I did, I did, I did. I didn't watch a
[51:17] Speaker 1: lot of the game, but I saw the game winner.
[51:19] Speaker 5: It looked like you mishit.
[51:19] Speaker 1: It didn't. Yeah, yeah, but likeily, it was a wide
[51:22] Speaker 1: open that and one.
[51:24] Speaker 4: And now fandela is giving you a reason to root
[51:26] Speaker 4: for every single goal, introducing every goal pays bet on
[51:30] Speaker 4: a match and get bonus bets for every goal scored
[51:32] Speaker 4: in that match. That's right, More goals means more bonus bets.
[51:36] Speaker 4: And all you have to do is turn on your token.
[51:38] Speaker 4: Visit FanDuel dot com to get started. Now, let there
[51:41] Speaker 4: be goals on FanDuel.
[51:43] Speaker 2: Let there be goals.
[51:44] Speaker 5: Turn on your token.
[51:46] Speaker 1: You know what I've been looking at. I've been looking
[51:47] Speaker 1: at recently Cosm at least. Yeah, Canada is playing on
[51:53] Speaker 1: the weekend'll be playing Morocco. Looking at tickets to go
[51:57] Speaker 1: watch it on that crazy interesting interesting, It's funny. I
[52:01] Speaker 1: didn't realize there's like levels to this, causem there's the dome, yeah,
[52:06] Speaker 1: the expensive tickets let's be on you get a table
[52:08] Speaker 1: and all that, and then there's like the hall and
[52:12] Speaker 1: then there's general admission. Yeah. I mean, I don't know
[52:15] Speaker 1: what the hall even is. I guess just more cool screens,
[52:17] Speaker 1: but not the dome screen, I don't know, a little confusing,
[52:19] Speaker 1: But the tickets are significantly cheaper. So you guys want
[52:23] Speaker 1: to go to the cosm with me this weekend. I
[52:24] Speaker 1: do want to go to the cos July fourth. Celebrate
[52:27] Speaker 1: July fourth by watching Canada playing Morocco. We're going to
[52:31] Speaker 1: the common. That's Good's a man who's doing stuff. How
[52:35] Speaker 1: was Jackass? By the way? Hilarious? Just hilarious, hilarious.
[52:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a lot of bits that they've done before
[52:42] Speaker 4: and they're like replaying them with like an extra footage
[52:44] Speaker 4: and stuff. There's a lot of unseen bits that you
[52:46] Speaker 4: haven't seen. I was just I was laughing for ninety minutest.
[52:50] Speaker 5: Great. Look, our guys are getting older.
[52:53] Speaker 4: They're all in their fifties, so they can't do as
[52:55] Speaker 4: many like legitimately dangerous stunts.
[52:59] Speaker 5: Which unfortunately means a lot more poop.
[53:01] Speaker 1: Stuff, gross stuff. Yeah, you're seeing a lot of buttholes
[53:04] Speaker 1: in this one.
[53:05] Speaker 4: Oh wow, Okay, a whole lot of bum jack ass,
[53:08] Speaker 4: Yeah jacks this time around. But uh, I watched it
[53:13] Speaker 4: last night, laughed so much that when I got home,
[53:15] Speaker 4: I turned on Jackass three.
[53:17] Speaker 1: Wow, that's what they want, That's what they wanted.
[53:21] Speaker 5: What's so good?
[53:22] Speaker 1: My entire time on social media is just Jackass clubs,
[53:26] Speaker 1: me too, and I watch everyone, I'm like, there's another one.
[53:29] Speaker 4: I do forget how the dumbest, stupidest things are like
[53:33] Speaker 4: my favorite ones, Like probably my all time favorite jackass
[53:36] Speaker 4: stunt is Steve O. In the first one, he just
[53:38] Speaker 4: runs in the hall and jumps off a trampoline into
[53:40] Speaker 4: a fan. It's just like, here's a stupid thing to
[53:44] Speaker 4: do for thirty seconds that'll make my friends laugh.
[53:47] Speaker 1: Did you see this tweet going around? I believe a
[53:50] Speaker 1: woman niche hell I guess is the Twitter name. Had
[53:53] Speaker 1: a conversation with friends a while ago about who is
[53:56] Speaker 1: the greatest living American and it is truly Johnny Knoxville.
[54:00] Speaker 1: He completely encapsulates the spirit of what people like about
[54:03] Speaker 1: America while simultaneously sidestepping all of the evil. And there
[54:07] Speaker 1: you're young. You bring that up at your next dinner party.
[54:10] Speaker 1: Johnny knock All the greatest America. Great guy.
[54:12] Speaker 3: People like him, people like DeAndre Jordan, and that's why
[54:15] Speaker 3: he's re signed with the New ORLEANSKA.
[54:17] Speaker 1: Good for him.
[54:18] Speaker 3: Nineteenth NBA season A guy that Joe Dumars, leader of
[54:23] Speaker 3: the front office in New Orleans, did his I guess
[54:25] Speaker 3: it was end of season talk where he said, I've
[54:29] Speaker 3: never seen a guy pour himself into his teammates more
[54:33] Speaker 3: than DeAndre Jordan ever, So people like him in the
[54:35] Speaker 3: locker room.
[54:36] Speaker 2: That's why he's going.
[54:36] Speaker 3: Back to try and try and reel this team out
[54:39] Speaker 3: of the deep, deep ocean. It ain't so good down there.
[54:44] Speaker 3: I mean, they're they're hanging out with the crustaceans. Man,
[54:46] Speaker 3: they're hanging out with shrimps.
[54:47] Speaker 2: They pull them out.
[54:48] Speaker 1: Man, that was a weird season.
[54:50] Speaker 2: But somebody's got to help these guys.
[54:53] Speaker 1: Wasn't he teammate of the Year this year? I think so, yeah,
[54:57] Speaker 1: you can't. You can't. You should automatically get the same
[55:00] Speaker 1: contract for next year. All right, some other deals here,
[55:03] Speaker 1: some bigger deals than DeAndre Jordan, maybe sticking with the Pelicans.
[55:06] Speaker 1: The Thunder picked up seventeen point seven million dollar team
[55:09] Speaker 1: option on loud Dort. Yeah, you think this is a
[55:12] Speaker 1: little surprising. Now, It's not like he can't be moved here. Still,
[55:16] Speaker 1: if there are, like, you know, cost cutting reasons behind
[55:20] Speaker 1: the Thunder, and we've seen a lot of that from
[55:22] Speaker 1: them with Isaiah Joe Aaron Wiggins being traded for basically
[55:24] Speaker 1: second round picks, they declined Kenrich Williams seven point two
[55:28] Speaker 1: million dollar option. But yeah, the lud Dort of it all,
[55:30] Speaker 1: there's a guy that's been linked to the Lakers as
[55:33] Speaker 1: a possibility, yeah, to come in there. You can see
[55:35] Speaker 1: them like, if Marcus Smart is gone, go get lou Dort.
[55:38] Speaker 1: He's just like a bigger version of Marcus Smart.
[55:41] Speaker 3: And so when he wasn't a big part of the
[55:44] Speaker 3: rotation and he had to be yanked off the floor
[55:46] Speaker 3: at times by the thunder and he was coming to
[55:49] Speaker 3: the end of his contract other than his team option, yeah,
[55:51] Speaker 3: it looked like, Okay, maybe it's Cason Wallace time getting
[55:54] Speaker 3: more of his minutes, or Jared McCain time, or AJ
[55:56] Speaker 3: Mitchell time starting in that role. But we're going back
[56:00] Speaker 3: to Shay Jayla Williams, Lou Dort Chet and Isaiah Hartenstein
[56:04] Speaker 3: to start because he's got to start, right, I mean,
[56:05] Speaker 3: Dort has to start and then Carus. Okay, so Walls,
[56:07] Speaker 3: A J Mitchell, Jared McCain, and a Dai Mara.
[56:10] Speaker 1: Still a pretty good team.
[56:10] Speaker 3: It's a great team and you only have to pay
[56:13] Speaker 3: him once for seventeen Milt.
[56:15] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[56:15] Speaker 3: They don't seem like a team that says, hey, we'll
[56:17] Speaker 3: trade your ass. You know, it's not doesn't seem like that.
[56:20] Speaker 3: It seems sort of spursy. As we'll get into what
[56:22] Speaker 3: they're doing running it back. Primarily other than as you said,
[56:27] Speaker 3: the Kenrich Williams, Isaiah Joe, the guys who weren't really
[56:31] Speaker 3: part of the rotation along with Aaron Wiggins, so a
[56:34] Speaker 3: little surprising.
[56:35] Speaker 1: Lou dort is still one of the best on ball
[56:36] Speaker 1: defenders in the league, and people will get frustrated with
[56:40] Speaker 1: him because he's quite physical. I get that, but his
[56:43] Speaker 1: shooting did sort of plummet there right in the in
[56:46] Speaker 1: the postseason and these last couple of playoff runs, the
[56:49] Speaker 1: three ball not dropping for lou Dorton sometimes gets played
[56:51] Speaker 1: off the floor. But over the seasons he's shot it
[56:54] Speaker 1: pretty well. It's like thirty eight percent from three over
[56:57] Speaker 1: three seasons in the regular season, but in the playoffs
[56:59] Speaker 1: again those numbers, So I don't I wonder if just
[57:02] Speaker 1: like they talked to Shay about something like this, like
[57:04] Speaker 1: I want him, I want my Canadian guy next to
[57:07] Speaker 1: me here, and they're going to be playing in some
[57:08] Speaker 1: Canadian games. You see this here? No, yeah, yeah, yeah,
[57:10] Speaker 1: yeah up in Canada. Hamilton, maybe Toronto, might be in Toronto.
[57:13] Speaker 1: I don't know. Anyway, lou Dort.
[57:15] Speaker 4: It's not Dylan Brooks has a haircut, and maybe Shay
[57:17] Speaker 4: goils just Alexander. I see a lot of people speculating
[57:20] Speaker 4: that Shay is bald.
[57:22] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[57:23] Speaker 4: Maybe the way that the angles hitting his hair, I
[57:25] Speaker 4: don't know. It's very weird to me. But World Cup
[57:27] Speaker 4: qualifying games.
[57:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, okay, that that makes they gotta they
[57:32] Speaker 3: gotta do it.
[57:33] Speaker 2: You see Jokic doing it too for Serbia.
[57:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he looks good. He looks very slender.
[57:38] Speaker 2: I thought, Nicola Yokin.
[57:39] Speaker 4: But this is kind of interesting, I thought from the Thunder.
[57:42] Speaker 4: But I guess what it really comes down to is
[57:43] Speaker 4: they didn't want to let Dort leave for nothing. I
[57:46] Speaker 4: still don't think it's a guarantee that he's on the
[57:48] Speaker 4: team at the start of training camp, because the moves
[57:53] Speaker 4: the Thunder have been making this offseason so far lend
[57:57] Speaker 4: you to believe that the main objective is staying underneath
[57:59] Speaker 4: the second ape. Yeah, that's why the Aaron Wiggins trade happened.
[58:02] Speaker 4: That's why the Isaiah Joe trade happened. That's why they're
[58:05] Speaker 4: declining the team option on Kenridge Williams. They got to
[58:08] Speaker 4: be very careful with the edges of the roster. So
[58:12] Speaker 4: when you consider that Caruso has passed Dort in the
[58:15] Speaker 4: pecking order for the Thunder, Cason Wallace is a restricted
[58:19] Speaker 4: free agent, curious to see how they handle that with him.
[58:22] Speaker 4: Will some team that has cap space, there's not a
[58:25] Speaker 4: whole bunch of them make a big offer to them.
[58:27] Speaker 4: I don't know, Like, it doesn't make sense to me
[58:29] Speaker 4: that the Nets would be that interested in him. I
[58:31] Speaker 4: can see him actually working with the Lakers, but guess what,
[58:33] Speaker 4: they're two highest paid players, both play with the ball
[58:36] Speaker 4: in their hands, and he's a guard, so I don't
[58:38] Speaker 4: necessarily know how that's gonna work. But I can see
[58:41] Speaker 4: Dort sticking with a Thunder. I could see him trading
[58:43] Speaker 4: him in the next six hours to some team that's
[58:47] Speaker 4: more interested in him and they get a little bit
[58:49] Speaker 4: of salary cap relief and just kind of move off
[58:53] Speaker 4: of Dirt into the Crusoe and Wallace era of things.
[58:55] Speaker 4: Or I can see Dort playing out this season with
[58:57] Speaker 4: the Thunder and then taking a deal to sick around
[59:00] Speaker 4: and be the new Kendridge Williams, the guy who's been
[59:02] Speaker 4: there forever. They discovered him. He played on a cheap
[59:05] Speaker 4: skate deal for a couple of years. They paid him
[59:07] Speaker 4: this huge deal that he's coming off now. Maybe he
[59:09] Speaker 4: signed somewhere in between and just continues to stay with
[59:12] Speaker 4: the only franchise he's ever known. I could see that
[59:14] Speaker 4: being the case for loud Dort because to me, he's
[59:16] Speaker 4: like fringe starter for this team right now, and if
[59:19] Speaker 4: he ends up being a bench guy rather than a starter,
[59:22] Speaker 4: seventeen mill is probably too much for a team that's
[59:23] Speaker 4: getting expensive.
[59:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, options is basically what you're getting out here from
[59:27] Speaker 1: Sam Presty And Okay, see when it comes to lud Door,
[59:29] Speaker 1: but some people were shot that they did pick up
[59:32] Speaker 1: the option. There the seventeen point seven million at least
[59:34] Speaker 1: for this final year.
[59:36] Speaker 3: Yeah, and looking at the stats, the grid, the ledge
[59:39] Speaker 3: of the spreadsheet, it looks like they're about six plus
[59:42] Speaker 3: mil over the second apron for now. So I don't
[59:48] Speaker 3: know if it just means trading you nikolatopch or Soorer
[59:52] Speaker 3: gets them really close. I don't know if they get
[59:54] Speaker 3: them below the line. If I'm doing money.
[59:57] Speaker 1: Boger's done the math and it's quite a detail breakdown.
[1:00:00] Speaker 1: They can do it, of course, and if they want
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: to get unto that second apron.
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: But but now you've gotta Bennett's sturtz.
[1:00:07] Speaker 3: You're probably gotta trade, yeah, either first round pick or
[1:00:10] Speaker 3: say by the loudort eventually because yeah, as I said,
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: they're going to pay Cason Wallace at some point, right,
[1:00:16] Speaker 3: They're going to extend him at some point.
[1:00:17] Speaker 2: I think.
[1:00:19] Speaker 3: This is his final year under guaranteed money, and those
[1:00:22] Speaker 3: guys are Aj Mitchell's under an incredible deal. Like those
[1:00:25] Speaker 3: guys might be that new starter at some point, along
[1:00:28] Speaker 3: with Jared McCain.
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: So that's one team that was in the final four
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: at least so far bringing back one of their guys.
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: Spurs are doing the same as well. Obviously took down
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: the Thunder in the Western Conference finals, went to the finals.
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: They're bringing back Julian Champenny three years forty five million
[1:00:43] Speaker 1: dollars and Harrison Barnes the vet there one year eight million.
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: So those two right now, coming back task.
[1:00:52] Speaker 3: Your thoughts, this is the Spur saying we don't need Kawhi,
[1:00:57] Speaker 3: let's run it back. I think that's what this all means.
[1:01:00] Speaker 3: I think this is the locker room, the roster that
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: they want, led by Wemby, to do it again. I
[1:01:08] Speaker 3: think that's all this means. If you're bringing back Harrison
[1:01:11] Speaker 3: Barnes and you're bringing back Julian Champennee, who is an
[1:01:14] Speaker 3: undersized four, that's what you're saying.
[1:01:18] Speaker 2: I think to me that they're not.
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: Even going out to seek somebody else at the four.
[1:01:22] Speaker 3: They just want to do it again. We led for
[1:01:24] Speaker 3: much of the finals. We can do this.
[1:01:28] Speaker 2: Simple as that.
[1:01:28] Speaker 4: Yeah, he's twenty five years old and he shot almost
[1:01:31] Speaker 4: forty percent from three in the playoffs, and he is small,
[1:01:34] Speaker 4: and I think a little bit of his defensive limitations
[1:01:36] Speaker 4: kind of showed.
[1:01:37] Speaker 5: In the playoffs.
[1:01:37] Speaker 4: He became the one guy you could pick on on
[1:01:39] Speaker 4: the Spurs.
[1:01:40] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's just how it's going to be.
[1:01:42] Speaker 4: But at twenty five years old, to get a guy
[1:01:45] Speaker 4: that shoots that well, it's definitely worth fifteen million dollars
[1:01:48] Speaker 4: and that's very, very cheap for a starting wing.
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: And from his.
[1:01:52] Speaker 5: Perspective, he might be the biggest winner of the offseason.
[1:01:54] Speaker 4: He has a three million dollar option for this year
[1:01:57] Speaker 4: that the Spurs are saying nope, turning it into fifteen
[1:01:59] Speaker 4: million dollar per year.
[1:02:00] Speaker 5: That's a five X.
[1:02:01] Speaker 4: I don't think anybody else is going to be able
[1:02:03] Speaker 4: to have five x their value from one option to
[1:02:05] Speaker 4: the next.
[1:02:06] Speaker 1: I was like I was looking at Reeves now it's
[1:02:08] Speaker 1: like three.
[1:02:09] Speaker 4: There's some guys that are four, but ain't nobody five
[1:02:11] Speaker 4: x And except for Julian Champagne hoped the.
[1:02:13] Speaker 1: Champagne he broke the franchise record for threes in the
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: regular season, very very good in fact, when Mitch Johnson
[1:02:19] Speaker 1: put him into the starting lineup, but round February that
[1:02:23] Speaker 1: ironically replacing Harrison Barnes, if I remember correctly, that's when
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: the Spurs went on a tear and became like that
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: juggernaut the second half of the season and then into
[1:02:30] Speaker 1: the postseason. Though this was a wild stat from Jared Weiss,
[1:02:34] Speaker 1: the Spurs played eleven postseason games with clutch situations and
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: Devin Vessel was the only Spurs player to hit two
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: clutch threes over the entire postseason. So Champagne, one of
[1:02:46] Speaker 1: those guys had looks in clutch situations, couldn't knock down shots.
[1:02:50] Speaker 1: He wasn't alone. It felt like everybody else, even including
[1:02:53] Speaker 1: Devin Veasell, at a couple that was sort of a
[1:02:55] Speaker 1: plague of the entire team in these clutch games. They
[1:02:58] Speaker 1: always had a lead and then it'll come back and
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: get close. Uh, someone's gonna have to step up and
[1:03:02] Speaker 1: hit these big big shots in all these tight games.
[1:03:04] Speaker 1: But a great contract, well deserved. Sort of funny that
[1:03:09] Speaker 1: this guy was what He made his way to the
[1:03:11] Speaker 1: Spurs because he was cut by the seventy six ers
[1:03:13] Speaker 1: because they wanted Mac McClung on the roster for the
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: dunk contest. That's right. So we saw mac McClung in
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: a Sixers jersey in that dunk contest for three of
[1:03:25] Speaker 1: the four dunks. Because then he put on a gate
[1:03:26] Speaker 1: City jersey. Right, So he did win it, that's true.
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: He did win it. That's true.
[1:03:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Darryl Mory got fired, I mean way later.
[1:03:33] Speaker 3: But you know, this is one of the moves that
[1:03:35] Speaker 3: you can criticize Daryl Moury for.
[1:03:38] Speaker 4: New deal Alert, new deal Alertam Sharani, a free agent
[1:03:41] Speaker 4: sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Junior has agreed to a deal with
[1:03:43] Speaker 4: the Miami That's right, all right, one year, six point
[1:03:46] Speaker 4: five million dollar deal.
[1:03:48] Speaker 5: That's a Bartlesteain joint.
[1:03:49] Speaker 1: Oh, give it off. A bartle Steam one down for
[1:03:52] Speaker 1: bartle Steam. Yes, nice, Wow, Okay.
[1:03:56] Speaker 3: What kind of X is that for Tim Hardaway? No,
[1:03:58] Speaker 3: it's not quite five X because it's only six and
[1:04:00] Speaker 3: a half million, but it feels like really wasn't in
[1:04:04] Speaker 3: a minimum unless I'm mistaken. But the Miami Heat need shooters.
[1:04:10] Speaker 3: And we'll get to Andrew Wiggins in a second, but
[1:04:14] Speaker 3: this guy could start at times for this Miami Heat team.
[1:04:18] Speaker 3: You know you're starting Davian Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins, Yiannis and Bam.
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: It's that other sort of wing connector guy that's a
[1:04:26] Speaker 3: question mark, whether it's Pelly Larson last year decent connector
[1:04:29] Speaker 3: or if they're going to go sign Norman Powell, who's
[1:04:31] Speaker 3: most likely a bench player at this point of his career.
[1:04:35] Speaker 2: As good as he was, he was, he was good there.
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: But they needed guys.
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: I mean, you know their bench is true smith, whether
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: it's Pelley Larson, Nikola Yovic who struggled last year, Simony Fontacchio,
[1:04:46] Speaker 3: Bobby Portis and a Myron I'm not sure if he's
[1:04:50] Speaker 3: gonna play Gardner. I mean, they're missing guys. So Tim Hardaway,
[1:04:54] Speaker 3: he earned himself some dollars last year.
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: He was awesome. He was really really that was the
[1:05:00] Speaker 2: best year of his career.
[1:05:01] Speaker 3: I think with the Denver Nuggets last year he played
[1:05:03] Speaker 3: really well.
[1:05:04] Speaker 1: Let's continue talking about the Miami Heat here, JD. If
[1:05:07] Speaker 1: you can fall along, we'll jump ahead and come back
[1:05:10] Speaker 1: to a couple of those other transactions. But yeah, Andrew
[1:05:12] Speaker 1: Wiggins opted in and he's staying with the Miami Heat
[1:05:15] Speaker 1: on a three year, sixty four million dollar deal. So
[1:05:18] Speaker 1: he exercised his thirty point two million dollar player option
[1:05:23] Speaker 1: for next season and then secured a two year, thirty
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: four million dollar extension to top off that twenty six
[1:05:29] Speaker 1: to twenty seven salary. So those two extra years can't
[1:05:32] Speaker 1: officially be at it until his contract on July six
[1:05:35] Speaker 1: or something like that. But this was this was interesting.
[1:05:37] Speaker 1: TK is not what we sort of thought. We thought
[1:05:39] Speaker 1: he would do the smoothing of a deal here where
[1:05:41] Speaker 1: maybe it was maybe even get to sixty four, but
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: it smoothed out over the three years. So you're looking
[1:05:46] Speaker 1: at the twenty twenty one per annual salary, but instead
[1:05:50] Speaker 1: he goes for the payday up front, yep, and then
[1:05:53] Speaker 1: maybe we'll help them later. What was your reaction to
[1:05:55] Speaker 1: this one? My reaction to this is this is Miami
[1:05:58] Speaker 1: saying not this year.
[1:06:00] Speaker 4: It's hard to build a good team when you pull
[1:06:02] Speaker 4: off a trade like the Heat just did for Giannis,
[1:06:05] Speaker 4: sending what four players for one?
[1:06:08] Speaker 5: All right, I guess two. They did get Portois back,
[1:06:10] Speaker 5: but it just.
[1:06:11] Speaker 4: Means a lot went out and not a lot came
[1:06:13] Speaker 4: in literal bodies. Wise, for the Miami Heat, we've talked
[1:06:17] Speaker 4: a lot about how their lack of picks going forward,
[1:06:20] Speaker 4: their contract situations mean it's tough for them to find players.
[1:06:23] Speaker 4: So yeah, I thought Wiggins was going to be like
[1:06:25] Speaker 4: twenty million per year. They would have a little bit
[1:06:28] Speaker 4: of room to work this offseason, but I guess that's
[1:06:31] Speaker 4: not going to be the case. They will have more
[1:06:32] Speaker 4: flexibility in the future because Wiggins will then be on
[1:06:35] Speaker 4: a scam contract seventeen million dollars per season during the
[1:06:38] Speaker 4: last couple of years. But right now, it leaves Miami
[1:06:41] Speaker 4: hard capped at the first a prin They're only going
[1:06:44] Speaker 4: to have veteran minimums to offer guys like Tim Hardaway, Junior,
[1:06:47] Speaker 4: Mike Conley, whoever else is in the mix.
[1:06:50] Speaker 5: This is probably gonna cost him. Norm Powell. I would
[1:06:52] Speaker 5: have to.
[1:06:52] Speaker 1: Imagine maybe we're Chicago Bulls is the yeah, sure, yeah,
[1:06:55] Speaker 1: the great ending spot. Yeah yeah, somebody's got shoot shots.
[1:07:00] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:07:00] Speaker 4: I think this is good for Miami to keep Wiggins,
[1:07:03] Speaker 4: but not great the way it happened.
[1:07:06] Speaker 2: And you mean it's not great the way it happened
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: is in this the other This is going.
[1:07:09] Speaker 5: To be a lost year for the Heat.
[1:07:11] Speaker 4: They did the deal and they're going to be a
[1:07:13] Speaker 4: fine team, but they're going to be better next year
[1:07:14] Speaker 4: when they can actually make moves to build around you
[1:07:16] Speaker 4: on us.
[1:07:17] Speaker 1: There's a ragtag bunch right now.
[1:07:19] Speaker 2: That was definitely part of the plan.
[1:07:20] Speaker 3: Maybe the new Kawhi was going to the Raptors and
[1:07:22] Speaker 3: they couldn't they couldn't deal. No, you're right in that
[1:07:24] Speaker 3: it's this year upfront thirty mil and then to be
[1:07:28] Speaker 3: able to drop it to seventeen the following year and
[1:07:30] Speaker 3: seventeen the following year for Andrew Wiggins, who isn't going
[1:07:33] Speaker 3: to get worse just because he's getting older. I think
[1:07:36] Speaker 3: we saw him play really well when he could, and
[1:07:40] Speaker 3: that he's in his early threties, is a super athletic guy.
[1:07:43] Speaker 3: I don't I don't think he's gonna just fall off
[1:07:46] Speaker 3: at any point. So literally, you could have the third
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: best player out there right now for the Mimi heat
[1:07:52] Speaker 3: behind Yannison.
[1:07:52] Speaker 4: Bam.
[1:07:53] Speaker 3: He's that good. You know, he's decent and money wise.
[1:07:57] Speaker 3: I think it's it's definitely a play for following year
[1:08:02] Speaker 3: twenty seven and twenty eight, twenty nine to help out.
[1:08:05] Speaker 3: And now they go and get Tim Hardaway who was
[1:08:08] Speaker 3: two x he only made two point two nine six
[1:08:12] Speaker 3: million dollars now making six point five to help out,
[1:08:14] Speaker 3: and we'll see what gets them or where they go.
[1:08:18] Speaker 1: Be size is coming beside Chris Middleton, who else could
[1:08:24] Speaker 1: be in the play here. He's going to join the
[1:08:26] Speaker 1: squad here who's very very cheat who was old.
[1:08:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, and they got some money fun tech one year deal.
[1:08:33] Speaker 3: They shouldn't they shouldn't get the bill. There's some tall beal.
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: He's going to be a heap. Oh yeah, that sounds.
[1:08:38] Speaker 3: Like the guy who's he declined his own player off
[1:08:42] Speaker 3: year because he thinks's gonna get paid again. You know,
[1:08:45] Speaker 3: there's Gabe Vincent talk, there's Chris Middleton talk, even just
[1:08:48] Speaker 3: the real old guys to join. But Norman Powell I agree,
[1:08:51] Speaker 3: he's probably probably gone because if the if the bulls
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: are willing to give him a balloon offer, as Mark
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: Stein put it, Yeah, he's gonna go take that.
[1:09:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, at this point of his Yeah, I agree, at
[1:09:06] Speaker 1: this point of his career here and go get your money, man,
[1:09:10] Speaker 1: Like you've had great three point shorty seasons here. Yeah,
[1:09:13] Speaker 1: finally made an All Star team. That's right. Whow I
[1:09:15] Speaker 1: had forgotten that fell off immediately. Yeah, as soon as
[1:09:18] Speaker 1: that happened. Yeah, he was like out of the rotation
[1:09:20] Speaker 1: for the Heat.
[1:09:21] Speaker 2: That's weird. Yeah, pretty weird.
[1:09:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, in both these last two seasons, his one All
[1:09:25] Speaker 3: Star appearance and the year before that, which could have
[1:09:28] Speaker 3: been his All Star.
[1:09:29] Speaker 2: Appearance, he's kind of it. He's fallen off later.
[1:09:31] Speaker 3: In the season and into the postseason a little bit
[1:09:34] Speaker 3: with the Clippers there in that first year. So that's
[1:09:36] Speaker 3: the worriest part. He can't be able. He can't do
[1:09:39] Speaker 3: it for that long, especially with the Miami Heat. That's
[1:09:41] Speaker 3: that's shallow. He's gonna need to be able to do
[1:09:44] Speaker 3: it for for a long time. So, yeah, this year
[1:09:46] Speaker 3: is a questionable year for the Miami Heat.
[1:09:48] Speaker 1: Let's go to the New York Knicks, the champion New
[1:09:52] Speaker 1: York Knicks. Excuse me, they have signed Landry Shammitt to
[1:09:56] Speaker 1: a four year, twenty four million dollar deal. So he's
[1:09:59] Speaker 1: coming back. This guy got a nice little deal here,
[1:10:03] Speaker 1: and well deserved after what he did in the postseason.
[1:10:06] Speaker 1: He made eighteen to twenty four to three pointers between
[1:10:08] Speaker 1: the Eastern Conference semis in the East Finals, remember what
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: he couldn't miss there for a stretch. So a good
[1:10:14] Speaker 1: job by him after playing the last couple of seasons
[1:10:16] Speaker 1: on a minimum contract. In fact, remember at the start
[1:10:19] Speaker 1: of the year preseason, we're talking about this three way
[1:10:23] Speaker 1: battle in training camp with the Knicks. I think it
[1:10:27] Speaker 1: was him, Landry Shammitt, Garrison Matthews, and Malcolm Brogden who
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: then just retired. Silkin Brogden is like peace, I'm out here.
[1:10:36] Speaker 1: But there was like a debate. I'm like, oh, which
[1:10:38] Speaker 1: one's gonna make it and all that, and Landry Shamman makes.
[1:10:40] Speaker 2: It and where's Gary bird at?
[1:10:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I do not know where Garrison
[1:10:44] Speaker 1: Matthews is. But Landry shammittt TK six for twenty four.
[1:10:48] Speaker 1: Any issues with this.
[1:10:49] Speaker 5: Well not really.
[1:10:50] Speaker 4: He became an integral part of their team at the
[1:10:53] Speaker 4: point of attack defender. He was sometimes summing in for
[1:10:56] Speaker 4: Michale Bridges in the clutch during the playoffs was making
[1:10:59] Speaker 4: it threes when he needed it too. The only thing
[1:11:02] Speaker 4: is this is gonna like definitely cost the Nicks Mitchell Robinson, right,
[1:11:05] Speaker 4: Like James Dolan has said, I ain't going into the
[1:11:07] Speaker 4: second apron. That would be suicide to do that, to
[1:11:11] Speaker 4: go into the second apron, And from a team building perspective,
[1:11:14] Speaker 4: he's pretty much right. The owners unfortunately won that one.
[1:11:18] Speaker 4: They got the hard kept that they always wanted.
[1:11:21] Speaker 5: But this is good for Landry Shammitt.
[1:11:22] Speaker 4: But the Knicks are gonna be a little bit worse
[1:11:25] Speaker 4: next year until they figure out a way to replace
[1:11:28] Speaker 4: Mitchell Robinson. But awesome for Shammitt to go from, you know,
[1:11:31] Speaker 4: needing a guy to retire to stay in the NBA
[1:11:34] Speaker 4: to suddenly making twenty four million dollars.
[1:11:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great for him. Four for twenty four and
[1:11:38] Speaker 2: then they got Alvarado signed. Yah.
[1:11:39] Speaker 3: Mitchell Robinson doesn't appear to be coming back to be
[1:11:42] Speaker 3: part of that bench. James Dolan wants to save his money.
[1:11:46] Speaker 3: That's what it comes down to.
[1:11:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, you can.
[1:11:48] Speaker 3: Second apron yourself, and then that just leaves you less
[1:11:51] Speaker 3: flexible to making moves if a guy gets injured or
[1:11:54] Speaker 3: do something else. But then you can criticize James Dolan
[1:11:57] Speaker 3: and say, come on, run your champs back to see
[1:12:00] Speaker 3: what they can do. But because they do have money
[1:12:02] Speaker 3: tied up in everybody for longer than this coming year,
[1:12:05] Speaker 3: it wouldn't just be a one year thing where they
[1:12:08] Speaker 3: say we're running back our team for one year. Everybody's
[1:12:11] Speaker 3: making money in twenty six, twenty seven, and twenty seven
[1:12:13] Speaker 3: to twenty eight, basically basically everybody's under contract then two.
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: So if you were the idea, if you were to
[1:12:20] Speaker 1: rank these three Knicks players to how integral they were
[1:12:25] Speaker 1: to the championship, how would you put them in order? Alvarado,
[1:12:29] Speaker 1: Landry Shammitt, and Mitchell Robinson. It's an interesting debate.
[1:12:33] Speaker 2: That's a good debate, right Yeah. Obviously all had their moments, absolutely, but.
[1:12:38] Speaker 1: The two of them are coming back in the two
[1:12:39] Speaker 1: guards in Alvarado and Shammitt and Mitchell Romson. Maybe it's
[1:12:43] Speaker 1: not appeering is not if he goes gets paid more.
[1:12:45] Speaker 3: I think it's Landry Shammitt, Jose Alvarado, Mitchell Robinson than
[1:12:49] Speaker 3: that order. Landre Shammitt's run was longer in the postseason,
[1:12:53] Speaker 3: how much he impacted this team history, point shooting and
[1:12:56] Speaker 3: even on the defensive end. Alvarado's was you know, the
[1:12:58] Speaker 3: fourth quarter run the NBA Finals, that was incredible. It
[1:13:02] Speaker 3: was an eight point fourth quarter. Mitchie, I don't know,
[1:13:06] Speaker 3: it doesn't really stand out to me as much. Maybe
[1:13:09] Speaker 3: I'm wrong probably with you.
[1:13:12] Speaker 1: I guess.
[1:13:12] Speaker 5: I guess Mitchell Robinson probably just has more value.
[1:13:14] Speaker 1: But to other teams around the league as well.
[1:13:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean it was there.
[1:13:19] Speaker 4: If the biggest thing you gotta do is replace your
[1:13:21] Speaker 4: backup center, you're in a good spot as the defending champions.
[1:13:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess it's internally it'll be mo Diawara. I
[1:13:29] Speaker 3: guess as we saw last year, what's.
[1:13:31] Speaker 1: Going on huk Porty. What was the news on him?
[1:13:34] Speaker 2: I don't know, it's not signed.
[1:13:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they declined his Okay, That's what it was. Yeah,
[1:13:38] Speaker 1: something like because people thought, well, if Mitch Robinson gone,
[1:13:40] Speaker 1: that's okay, they'll, you know, come to a deal with
[1:13:42] Speaker 1: Ariel Howk party and he'll beat just the backup center.
[1:13:44] Speaker 3: He had a good yeah, few minutes out there in
[1:13:48] Speaker 3: the NBA Finals when he was when he was needed.
[1:13:51] Speaker 1: A bunch of other minor moose Well, I guess this
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: one's interesting. The Hawks declined Jonathan Kamingi's twenty four point
[1:13:58] Speaker 1: three million dollar team option. Were you shocked at all
[1:14:01] Speaker 1: by this.
[1:14:03] Speaker 2: A little bit?
[1:14:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, considering you know, the other contracts that they
[1:14:07] Speaker 3: threw out there, a little bit. Somebody will be willing
[1:14:10] Speaker 3: to pay Jonathan I Mainga to see if he can
[1:14:12] Speaker 3: be a good player in his NBA career, because he
[1:14:16] Speaker 3: was for the Atlanta Hawks since trading for him from
[1:14:20] Speaker 3: the Golden State Warriors.
[1:14:22] Speaker 2: He was okay, there's a lot of good minutes.
[1:14:25] Speaker 4: He was awesome in the two games they won in
[1:14:27] Speaker 4: the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, he had like nineteen and twenty one.
[1:14:32] Speaker 4: It was actually, he was actually great in those games
[1:14:34] Speaker 4: and you completely forget about the other games when he
[1:14:35] Speaker 4: wasn't doing anything out there.
[1:14:36] Speaker 5: That's the thing.
[1:14:37] Speaker 4: He's not worth twenty four million dollars. So maybe the
[1:14:39] Speaker 4: Hawks signed him back. Maybe he's an MLA guy. Fifteen
[1:14:42] Speaker 4: million for a non tax team if they're really into him,
[1:14:45] Speaker 4: six point one million for a tax team if they're
[1:14:47] Speaker 4: into him. The Nets, the Bulls, the Lakers have calf space.
[1:14:50] Speaker 4: You can see him on literally any of those teams.
[1:14:52] Speaker 4: Kind of makes sense for me. Or he could come
[1:14:54] Speaker 4: back to the Hawks if they decided to, like two
[1:14:57] Speaker 4: years thirty they like the athleticism or something like that.
[1:15:00] Speaker 1: But I think what's most interesting to me the.
[1:15:01] Speaker 4: Hawks are still gearing up for some flexibility mode heading
[1:15:04] Speaker 4: into free agency.
[1:15:05] Speaker 1: Here.
[1:15:06] Speaker 4: They haven't done anything quite yet, but they guaranteed that
[1:15:08] Speaker 4: Buddy Healed contract, which is just a trade salary. They
[1:15:12] Speaker 4: don't really need Resa sche after the Aaron Wiggins trade,
[1:15:16] Speaker 4: Corey Kispert being around doesn't make a lot of sense.
[1:15:19] Speaker 4: So if you add Healed, Resa sha Kispert, you got
[1:15:22] Speaker 4: the picks that you haven't used yet, You've got a
[1:15:24] Speaker 4: little bit of cap space. Having declined the option for
[1:15:27] Speaker 4: Jonathan Kaminga, it seems to me like the Hawks are
[1:15:30] Speaker 4: trying to pull something off this summer.
[1:15:32] Speaker 1: We'll see what it is, or at least getting everything
[1:15:33] Speaker 1: lined up for the next name that suddenly becomes available.
[1:15:36] Speaker 1: Maybe you're in play. Yeah. They also signed Jack Landell
[1:15:39] Speaker 1: to a one year, fourteen million dollars deal. I mean, wow,
[1:15:42] Speaker 1: that that number surprised me a little bit with how
[1:15:44] Speaker 1: big it was, But he got that. And they also
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: traded for Devin Carter and future second round picks came
[1:15:52] Speaker 1: their way from the Kinks.
[1:15:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, Devin Carter's a he's a young Gabe Vincent. You know,
[1:15:57] Speaker 3: he's gonna try. He's not quite Gay Vincent yet, but
[1:15:59] Speaker 3: he's try really hard. Defensively, he can splash some threes.
[1:16:02] Speaker 3: He hasn't really got a lot of time with Sacramento.
[1:16:05] Speaker 3: Always been injured too, so we'll see what he can.
[1:16:07] Speaker 2: He can do.
[1:16:08] Speaker 3: Great for them to get both him and that second
[1:16:11] Speaker 3: round pick for nothing because Sacramento wanted to dump his salary.
[1:16:15] Speaker 2: Well, Jock, they.
[1:16:17] Speaker 3: Could have used him in the playoffs and they needed
[1:16:19] Speaker 3: a big, big body. They are undersized. It's good to
[1:16:22] Speaker 3: keep him around. If Gogobitase didn't yank his shoulder and
[1:16:26] Speaker 3: sprain his ankle late in the regular season, he would
[1:16:29] Speaker 3: have been playing against Karl Anthony Towns in the playoffs
[1:16:31] Speaker 3: and would have helped. Would he have turned the series
[1:16:33] Speaker 3: against the New York Knicks. I'm not crazy to say yes,
[1:16:36] Speaker 3: he would have turned the series, but it could have
[1:16:39] Speaker 3: changed the series a little bit. And I think he's
[1:16:40] Speaker 3: kind of peeking at thirty. You know, those twenties were
[1:16:44] Speaker 3: all right, He's okay, but he's gotten better. So the
[1:16:46] Speaker 3: fourteen per that's a good number. He literally could start
[1:16:51] Speaker 3: for you at times because then Ka Konglu is undersized.
[1:16:54] Speaker 2: A little bit. So it's it's a great move to
[1:16:56] Speaker 2: have him around.
[1:16:57] Speaker 1: And that is why you immediately jump at the opportunity
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: to play in the NBA. Remember when he got traded
[1:17:01] Speaker 1: at the Atlanta Hawks, He's like, I gotta get there.
[1:17:03] Speaker 1: They got a game coming up. I'm driving there a
[1:17:05] Speaker 1: pickup truck. And he didn't go the wrong way like
[1:17:08] Speaker 1: we did going from Atlanta and Memphis. We went the
[1:17:11] Speaker 1: wrong on the wrong interstate. He went quickly here and
[1:17:13] Speaker 1: then he had a monster game and then what was
[1:17:15] Speaker 1: actually contributing. So he sticks around there as one of
[1:17:18] Speaker 1: their big Other big news precious Achua to re sign
[1:17:21] Speaker 1: with the Kings on a two year eleven point five
[1:17:23] Speaker 1: million dollar deal and use of Nurkic to sign a
[1:17:25] Speaker 1: two year twenty two million dollar contractor return to the Jazz,
[1:17:29] Speaker 1: And I think that's all I got for you.
[1:17:32] Speaker 5: I got on.
[1:17:35] Speaker 4: Nurkic is overpaid at this point, but he's it's just salary.
[1:17:37] Speaker 4: Like these guys you see these deals, they're like, they're
[1:17:40] Speaker 4: a decent enough guy to keep around in the locker room,
[1:17:43] Speaker 4: and we can throw him into a trade. Yeah, and
[1:17:45] Speaker 4: that's why use of Nurkic is making twenty million dollars
[1:17:47] Speaker 4: even though he missed the second half of the season
[1:17:49] Speaker 4: for nose surgery.
[1:17:51] Speaker 3: Two years twenty two. I know it's not anywhere close
[1:17:54] Speaker 3: to what Walker Kessler is gonna make. What does that
[1:17:57] Speaker 3: mean they're moving on from Walker Kessler. I think that's
[1:18:00] Speaker 3: fair question to ask with how many guys they have
[1:18:02] Speaker 3: in their rotation. So that's the most interesting thing about
[1:18:07] Speaker 3: use of Nurkic that I have to add.
[1:18:10] Speaker 5: You got a little news.
[1:18:11] Speaker 4: This is unusual. This is from sham Sharanya, who says
[1:18:14] Speaker 4: league news.
[1:18:15] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I saw this go ahead.
[1:18:16] Speaker 4: The NBA will hold the NBA Cup Championship game at
[1:18:20] Speaker 4: Butler's Hinkle Field.
[1:18:21] Speaker 1: House on December eleventh next season. What time to drop this.
[1:18:27] Speaker 1: We're going to Indianapolis for the NBA Cup. That's fascinating.
[1:18:30] Speaker 1: Why he decided to tweet this now, I don't know why.
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: It makes me laugh. He's like, there's nothing else going on. Yeah,
[1:18:36] Speaker 1: everything's already happened. Everybody's negotiation negotiating Cup news. Okay, we
[1:18:41] Speaker 1: had heard rumors of this that the NBA Cup Championship
[1:18:45] Speaker 1: game was not going to be in in Vegas and that. Yeah,
[1:18:48] Speaker 1: there was whispers of like famous college Uh yeah, stadiums
[1:18:53] Speaker 1: or arenas for neutral sites.
[1:18:55] Speaker 3: You do it once there, you do it in another
[1:18:58] Speaker 3: college that's famous around. Yeah, I think so. So Yeah,
[1:19:02] Speaker 3: Vegas wasn't doing it. We were there, just wasn't. The
[1:19:06] Speaker 3: buzz was not there. So this is just you know, picturesque.
[1:19:11] Speaker 3: It's got the story around it.
[1:19:12] Speaker 2: So you do it there. Cool, it will look cool.
[1:19:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, December eleventh, right around the corner, guys, game is
[1:19:21] Speaker 1: going to be here before you know it. Get ready.
[1:19:24] Speaker 4: It's cold in December, and I think, yeah, you know
[1:19:30] Speaker 4: seeing Rick Smith's outside, well Tomos Steakhouse. Oh yeah, well
[1:19:34] Speaker 4: horse rash in your nose.
[1:19:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's what the that's what they call uphill
[1:19:39] Speaker 1: skiing in Indianapolis. Yeah, exactly, cocktail. It's like, that's that's
[1:19:45] Speaker 1: what they used to say on the only restaurant in Indianapolis.
[1:19:49] Speaker 2: It was it in a little dish or was it
[1:19:52] Speaker 2: just on every single food? You know what I mean?
[1:19:55] Speaker 2: What did they have its separate.
[1:19:58] Speaker 1: If you wanted to?
[1:19:59] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[1:20:00] Speaker 5: Cool setup though, if I'm calling.
[1:20:02] Speaker 3: Correctly the restaurant just in general, No, the specifically the
[1:20:05] Speaker 3: shrimp cocktail.
[1:20:06] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the restaurant.
[1:20:07] Speaker 1: What I mean, we're making fun of it, but it's
[1:20:09] Speaker 1: an awesome restaurant. Were just like joking that it's the
[1:20:11] Speaker 1: only restaurant Indianapolis, Beau, that's the only place that anyone
[1:20:14] Speaker 1: seems to go world shrimp cocktail. Yeah, that's pretty famous.
[1:20:18] Speaker 3: What do you like more the restaurant or that hats
[1:20:21] Speaker 3: for the restaurant because their hats were cool?
[1:20:23] Speaker 1: What? Oh like the merch?
[1:20:25] Speaker 4: Yeah all right, they will do uh guaranteed they'll do
[1:20:32] Speaker 4: the measuring the hoops. This is where Hoosiers took place,
[1:20:36] Speaker 4: is in hinkle Field House, Like when they go and
[1:20:39] Speaker 4: play for the state title.
[1:20:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we'll measure the hoops.
[1:20:41] Speaker 5: They will absolutely do that.
[1:20:43] Speaker 1: Who will they get to be the coach? R? P.
[1:20:45] Speaker 1: Gen Hackney?
[1:20:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, who's a good old man actor?
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: Come on, this is your wheel. Paul Giamatti. I can't
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: imagine him as a.
[1:20:57] Speaker 2: Harris.
[1:20:58] Speaker 1: I don't hate it, don't. I don't hate Paul Giamadi either. Actually,
[1:21:02] Speaker 1: now I think about it, he's is he that old?
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: He's not.
[1:21:06] Speaker 2: He's probably older than Gene Hackman was when.
[1:21:08] Speaker 1: He was in Yeah, he's yours, but hmm, I don't
[1:21:13] Speaker 1: think on that one. All right, Well, the slap is
[1:21:16] Speaker 1: dried up. I mean, we got a lot of stuff
[1:21:19] Speaker 1: in here, though, guys, Kawhi, Leonard is going back to
[1:21:22] Speaker 1: the Toronto Raptors. That's crazy, obviously, John Morant to the
[1:21:25] Speaker 1: Portland trail Blazers days ago, Johannes to Miami Heat. So
[1:21:28] Speaker 1: there's are hojamellow Ball to the Minnesota Timberls. Dear lord,
[1:21:31] Speaker 1: I almost forgot about that one. So those are the
[1:21:33] Speaker 1: four big moves, the jayl and Brown of it all.
[1:21:36] Speaker 1: We still wait and see. Is that relationship salvagable or
[1:21:41] Speaker 1: is there a big deal that's going to happen? What
[1:21:43] Speaker 1: are you pumping your fists for?
[1:21:44] Speaker 4: Okay, you're gonna want to hear this, Okay. According to
[1:21:48] Speaker 4: Michael Scotto, the Chicago Balls were fully guaranteed the two
[1:21:51] Speaker 4: point four to one million dollar salary of Leonard Miller.
[1:21:55] Speaker 1: Oh my god, let go. They just won free agency.
[1:22:00] Speaker 1: On Friday's Drop podcast, we're starting with the Chicago Bulls,
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: all right, mill that's Bill mom Man. Well worth it.
[1:22:08] Speaker 5: Twelve starts last year, I know, how about that?
[1:22:11] Speaker 1: Thanks Michael Scutto, Yeah, thank you Scutto for the slappo.
[1:22:16] Speaker 1: All right, so let's call it there. Why not right
[1:22:18] Speaker 1: hour and a half. If something big happens tonight, we'll
[1:22:22] Speaker 1: do an emergency podcast either still here from the Classic
[1:22:24] Speaker 1: Factor or maybe in the yard. Plan is to be
[1:22:27] Speaker 1: here tomorrow morning, though, so we'll do more of a
[1:22:29] Speaker 1: round up, maybe more thoughts. You know, some of this
[1:22:32] Speaker 1: was just happening, you know, mere hours ago, and you're like, whoa, Okay,
[1:22:36] Speaker 1: Lebron's leaving. Ohhhi's going to Toronto. Whoa ujaman jangs going
[1:22:41] Speaker 1: back to the buck whoa? Can you believe it? So
[1:22:43] Speaker 1: that's the plan. Hit the like button, subscribe, five star
[1:22:45] Speaker 1: ratings and reviews. Hopefully we did good enough job sort
[1:22:49] Speaker 1: of lining everything up that's happened so far in this
[1:22:52] Speaker 1: free agency period where it's like there's no point waiting
[1:22:56] Speaker 1: until six anymore. I mean, I wonder if we need
[1:22:58] Speaker 1: to like switch up our plan of how we attack it.
[1:23:01] Speaker 1: I got one hand, it was good that we weren't
[1:23:03] Speaker 1: live yet when especially the Kauai thing happened, Well, then
[1:23:07] Speaker 1: you start to wonder, is like, is the move just
[1:23:08] Speaker 1: like wait around big news dropped, pop on, then pop off,
[1:23:12] Speaker 1: more like an eight o'clock start than a six o'clock start.
[1:23:15] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know, I don't know. I don't know.
[1:23:17] Speaker 4: Maybe teams are getting better at tampering, or maybe Adam
[1:23:20] Speaker 4: Silver's punishments have slowed down to tampering exactly. Like, Oh man,
[1:23:25] Speaker 4: now we gotta finally start talking at six. We've only
[1:23:27] Speaker 4: have fifty six minutes to debate the ins and the outs.
[1:23:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm not sure what's going on
[1:23:33] Speaker 1: anymore here, But anyway, we got a lot of news
[1:23:35] Speaker 1: in there, and let's hear your favorite from the bunch,
[1:23:39] Speaker 1: and where do you think Lebron's going? All that fun?
[1:23:40] Speaker 1: So we'll be back tomorrow morning at ten am Eastern
[1:23:43] Speaker 1: at Bones Highland minimum contract with the Okay, see we're
[1:23:46] Speaker 1: at the Bone time.
[1:23:46] Speaker 5: We're at the Bones time.
[1:23:48] Speaker 1: I mean, what what could possibly happen tonight? Free agent?
[1:23:51] Speaker 4: When Kelly you brid Junior plans to meet with the
[1:23:53] Speaker 4: seventy six ers, Pacers, Blazers, and Lakers, among others.
[1:23:55] Speaker 1: Okay, I got them going to the Pacers, Kelly, Yeah,
[1:23:59] Speaker 1: Kelly Dwyer, Kelly, be nice to Kelly's an Indiana.
[1:24:03] Speaker 2: I a big one. Peyton Watson's kind of a big
[1:24:05] Speaker 2: one waiting for that one.
[1:24:07] Speaker 1: Okay, I'm waiting for the jail and brown trade. Okay,
[1:24:10] Speaker 1: maybe to Denver. Maybe so Denver Nuggets. Uh maybe, I
[1:24:14] Speaker 1: mean still possible to Portland Trailblazers. Still possible.
[1:24:17] Speaker 5: That's the part we.
[1:24:17] Speaker 1: Didn't talk about.
[1:24:18] Speaker 4: That's a I think Lizen Tim Hardaway Junior kind of
[1:24:20] Speaker 4: bad for the Nuggets.
[1:24:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:24:22] Speaker 5: I don't have a lot to replace him with. And
[1:24:24] Speaker 5: he was actually pretty solid for them last year.
[1:24:26] Speaker 2: It was really good.
[1:24:27] Speaker 3: They may go it's a reach, but try and get
[1:24:31] Speaker 3: bugged down Bogdanovich to revitalize himself.
[1:24:33] Speaker 2: You know, he's buddies with Jokic. It's a Serbian brother.
[1:24:38] Speaker 2: You know, he's a little older. He hasn't been himself.
[1:24:41] Speaker 1: No, No, I saw I saw a kid walking around
[1:24:43] Speaker 1: Atlanta with a buck Danovitch suresy on yesterday.
[1:24:46] Speaker 2: I was like Hawks.
[1:24:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, wow, I don't see that often.
[1:24:50] Speaker 1: Respect he's available ball no er. Uh So any big
[1:24:54] Speaker 1: predictions here then tonight or until we get back here
[1:24:56] Speaker 1: on tomorrow morning.
[1:24:58] Speaker 5: We'll have a tray to talk about tomorrow morning.
[1:25:00] Speaker 1: Okay, we're going to trade tonight. I mean I jokingly
[1:25:04] Speaker 1: through this on social media, but I guess somewhere inside me,
[1:25:07] Speaker 1: I semi believe it. Cavaliers are going to get Jayleen Brown.
[1:25:12] Speaker 1: They're going to make a huge move Evan Mobley for
[1:25:14] Speaker 1: Jaylen Brown. Then Lebron comes and then as I said,
[1:25:19] Speaker 1: Thomas Bryant can like try and post up all he
[1:25:21] Speaker 1: wants and Lebron just looks him off all season long,
[1:25:24] Speaker 1: running gag, running gag. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is that the
[1:25:27] Speaker 1: number one moment of Lebron's career in Los Angeles?
[1:25:30] Speaker 5: Passing mobil Jabar?
[1:25:32] Speaker 1: I would say the title, but like there's one a
[1:25:36] Speaker 1: lot of titles. Yeah, it was a bubble title at that.
[1:25:39] Speaker 1: I mean that makes it unique. I guess that was
[1:25:43] Speaker 1: a big moment. I mean playing with the sun was
[1:25:46] Speaker 1: a moment. Was a moment which remember there was like
[1:25:51] Speaker 1: it was like when's it gonna happen? It happened immediately immediately.
[1:25:54] Speaker 2: Of course with Jenny by Jeanie Buss on the sideline.
[1:25:59] Speaker 1: First, First, what else is there? Eight years?
[1:26:06] Speaker 2: Man? That's it? Okay, I think we're tapped. I mean
[1:26:12] Speaker 2: it's gotta be you know who.
[1:26:13] Speaker 1: I would love Ronnie to get on record right now
[1:26:16] Speaker 1: and ask, hey, i'd loved your thoughts on the Kawi
[1:26:18] Speaker 1: Leonard being traded from l A to the trunt of
[1:26:21] Speaker 1: raptors clipper bro. You heard it here first, have a
