[0:33] Speaker 1: and reviews. On today's drop, We've got Kawhi Trade chaos
[0:38] Speaker 1: to unpack. Oh boy, we'll get into that. We got
[0:42] Speaker 1: the up down report and we're talking movie sequels a
[0:46] Speaker 1: when we get to Rapid Fire as we wrap up
[0:48] Speaker 1: the week with Rapid Fire fun. But first we're gonna
[0:52] Speaker 1: start with Vegas Summer League. Because the top two players
[0:56] Speaker 1: in the twenty six NBA draft squared off on Day
[0:59] Speaker 1: one of Vegas Summer League. Number one pick aj Debonsa
[1:02] Speaker 1: led all players twenty seven points seven boards in twenty
[1:05] Speaker 1: six minutes to power the Wizards to the ninety two
[1:09] Speaker 1: eighty eight win. Why did I tell you the score
[1:12] Speaker 1: of a Summer League game. Nobody cares who wins or loses.
[1:15] Speaker 1: Paying number two pick Darren Peterson finished with twenty four.
[1:18] Speaker 1: But I do want your thoughts on this battle of
[1:20] Speaker 1: the top two seats.
[1:22] Speaker 2: Hey, it went down to the wire. It doesn't, No,
[1:25] Speaker 2: of course it does not. But there was a battle
[1:28] Speaker 2: between the two of them with minute twenty two seconds
[1:30] Speaker 2: left when Debonsa pulled Peterson's arm and Peterson kind of
[1:34] Speaker 2: got mad. That's true, But then Debonsa big enough to
[1:37] Speaker 2: go to the bench and not play the rest of
[1:39] Speaker 2: the game in a Summer League game. He literally got
[1:41] Speaker 2: pulled in the player. Yeah, he had a cramp.
[1:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, he was rubbing his legs and his leg hurt.
[1:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh that was I don't think it was by choice.
[1:46] Speaker 3: No, that's why he fouled Peterson so he could go
[1:50] Speaker 3: to the bench and rub.
[1:51] Speaker 2: That's why they called it one. Yeah, yeah, he said
[1:53] Speaker 2: he was cool with it. I will say, though, I'm
[1:56] Speaker 2: totally fine with my pre draft prediction saying that Peterson
[2:00] Speaker 2: should have gone one even though he played poorly. Still
[2:04] Speaker 2: sticking with that because yeah, Debounsa still scored. But I
[2:07] Speaker 2: will say his strength, his speed looked really really good
[2:11] Speaker 2: going by Orlando Robinson. Yeah, he's going by a super
[2:14] Speaker 2: slow guy plenty of times getting to the rim, that
[2:16] Speaker 2: beautiful don. But he's not as smooth as my Peterson.
[2:21] Speaker 2: He was two of thirteen thirteen.
[2:24] Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing that on a Trey Kirby
[2:26] Speaker 1: kra today as smooth as Yeah.
[2:30] Speaker 2: And I say that because he was two of thirteen.
[2:31] Speaker 2: Outside the paint, Debonsa just he's not as smooth going
[2:35] Speaker 2: through his shots. Well, I thought, Utah, Yeah, they're giving
[2:38] Speaker 2: Peterson the ball to start every possession, which was really weird.
[2:42] Speaker 2: The Wizard's playing great defense to get out on him
[2:45] Speaker 2: to pressure him. Watkins was really good, but he's not
[2:48] Speaker 2: the point guard. He was playing without a point guard. Essentially,
[2:50] Speaker 2: he was the whole guy, the whole team, and he
[2:53] Speaker 2: just did not overall play as well. He had eight
[2:56] Speaker 2: turnovers because he was playing the point guard. But then
[2:58] Speaker 2: he started to get it going. So in this game, yeah,
[3:01] Speaker 2: de Bonsa looked better and it was just it was
[3:05] Speaker 2: just odd to see the way they played Peterson like
[3:10] Speaker 2: he was kind of bringing up, bringing forward what he
[3:14] Speaker 2: did in the Utah Summer League and being the guy
[3:17] Speaker 2: and the only guy, and he's not going to do
[3:19] Speaker 2: that when he gets to actual play that either way,
[3:24] Speaker 2: A fun one that went down to the way I.
[3:26] Speaker 1: Mean, both guys not shy, no by any stretch of
[3:29] Speaker 1: the imagination. DEBONSA seven of eighteen shots that he hit,
[3:32] Speaker 1: missed all five of his threes, got to the line
[3:35] Speaker 1: a ton, and we got this new just one free
[3:37] Speaker 1: throw thing too to count for two. Finished with two
[3:39] Speaker 1: assists and two steals. Peterson six of eighteen for the game,
[3:43] Speaker 1: missed five to seven from deep, eight turnovers. Like you said,
[3:46] Speaker 1: I also think he had nine personal fouls summer league maybee. Yes, yeah,
[3:52] Speaker 1: a lot of stuffs. What do you think, TK, What
[3:54] Speaker 1: was your reaction watching this game or the highlights? They're
[3:56] Speaker 1: both going to be very good, yeah, I think.
[3:57] Speaker 3: And look, when you're comparing their performances last night, the
[4:00] Speaker 3: Jazz are so far ahead of the Wizards from like
[4:03] Speaker 3: a rebuild standpoint that their summer league team is worse. Meanwhile,
[4:06] Speaker 3: you've got Trey Johnson and Will Riley playing really well
[4:09] Speaker 3: for the Wizard, so AJ didn't have to do it all.
[4:11] Speaker 3: But man, this guy looks like he is going to
[4:13] Speaker 3: be a scorer instantly in the league. He looks so fluid.
[4:16] Speaker 3: It looked like he was getting downhill anytime he wanted to.
[4:19] Speaker 3: You say, two for thirteen away from the rim. That
[4:21] Speaker 3: means he went five for five at the rim, and
[4:23] Speaker 3: he was getting to the rim. He was drawing files.
[4:25] Speaker 3: He's already got the grifting gene activated. In his very
[4:29] Speaker 3: first NBA experience, he took a lot of midies, He
[4:33] Speaker 3: took a lot of free throws. I did think it
[4:35] Speaker 3: was pretty interesting to see how often he was initiating
[4:38] Speaker 3: the offense for the Wizards, because they did just give
[4:42] Speaker 3: Trey a Young two hundred million dollars. So he's going
[4:44] Speaker 3: to be handling the ball a ton, and it looks
[4:46] Speaker 3: like Debonsa is definitely capable of it. But I really
[4:50] Speaker 3: liked what I saw from him. He looks like a man,
[4:53] Speaker 3: and I would say Darren Peterson looks like a man
[4:55] Speaker 3: as well. He's got great size as a guard. He
[4:59] Speaker 3: from watching this one game, you know, he looks more
[5:01] Speaker 3: like a two to me than a one. He was
[5:03] Speaker 3: creating space, he was just bricking away. His two three
[5:06] Speaker 3: point makes were both kind of lucky, like one was
[5:08] Speaker 3: a grenade I think at the end of the first half,
[5:10] Speaker 3: and the last one was like a thirty seven footer
[5:12] Speaker 3: they just chucked up at the buzzer. So he didn't
[5:14] Speaker 3: play very great, But like I said, he's got hardly
[5:16] Speaker 3: any team around him, especially compared to a Wizard's team
[5:19] Speaker 3: that's sending, you know, a bunch of first rounders out there.
[5:22] Speaker 3: So I thought fun to see both of these guys
[5:25] Speaker 3: going at each other, and pretty funny that de Banza
[5:28] Speaker 3: had to leave the game for a cramp when that
[5:30] Speaker 3: was the problem with Darren Peterson all year at Kansas.
[5:35] Speaker 1: These guys need to drink more water. At one point
[5:37] Speaker 1: late in the second quarter too, it was a fun
[5:39] Speaker 1: moment in this game. Peterson got switched on to Debantsa
[5:42] Speaker 1: and the crowd started to like cheer and that hype
[5:46] Speaker 1: build in the in the building, the Thomas and Max
[5:49] Speaker 1: Center there, and they sort of went at it one
[5:50] Speaker 1: on one. I think de Buonca sort of drove and
[5:53] Speaker 1: he spun back. He gote a look, he created some separation,
[5:56] Speaker 1: but he missed that shot. But I always love when
[5:58] Speaker 1: that happens when they're you know that the swelling in
[6:00] Speaker 1: the crowd as they get excited for these two guys.
[6:02] Speaker 1: And this is the fourth time over the last what
[6:04] Speaker 1: two and a half years that these two guys had
[6:06] Speaker 1: matched up or their teams had matched up and played
[6:08] Speaker 1: against each other. In every outing, Peterson had the better
[6:12] Speaker 1: game to Debonsa until this one. I think we could
[6:15] Speaker 1: say that he definitely had the better one last.
[6:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, and he was motivated from the get go. While
[6:21] Speaker 2: it felt like Debansa, it just was a little excuse me,
[6:25] Speaker 2: Peterson was a little slow fixed his hair after will
[6:28] Speaker 2: Riley beat him on a fast break in a minute
[6:30] Speaker 2: into this game. He wasn't locked in after coming from
[6:34] Speaker 2: the Utah Summer League, if that has anything to do
[6:36] Speaker 2: with it. He played multiple games while de Bonsa hadn't
[6:39] Speaker 2: played a game in four months. As he said post
[6:41] Speaker 2: post game in his interview, I haven't played in a
[6:44] Speaker 2: long time.
[6:44] Speaker 3: Man, March tenth. I got bounced in the first round.
[6:48] Speaker 2: That was very funny. Yeah, he looks good.
[6:51] Speaker 1: Rest versus Rust in summer crap.
[6:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, the rust worked out. He looked awesome.
[6:58] Speaker 3: He was playing a lot through contact, and I thought
[7:00] Speaker 3: that was part of the problem for Peterson is that
[7:02] Speaker 3: the Wizards came out and said, you got Jamir Walkins
[7:05] Speaker 3: on you, and Jamiyir Walkin is going to value up
[7:07] Speaker 3: and down the court as much as he can, forcing
[7:09] Speaker 3: Peterson to play through physicality as well. And it's just
[7:12] Speaker 3: going to be something that both of these guys have
[7:15] Speaker 3: to learn. And I thought Debonza was a little better
[7:16] Speaker 3: about it last night.
[7:17] Speaker 1: He was was huge. He's huge.
[7:19] Speaker 3: He's a huge I mean a guy that can handle
[7:21] Speaker 3: the ball like that.
[7:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, And I really he also needs to he needs
[7:25] Speaker 1: to get better with his handle, and he will. Why
[7:27] Speaker 1: wouldn't he because he likes to do He's a big
[7:29] Speaker 1: chicken wing guy. When he's like dribbling, he likes to
[7:31] Speaker 1: put out the other arm, maybe because he lacks a
[7:34] Speaker 1: little confidence in his dribble being that size. But he'll
[7:36] Speaker 1: get better. Yeah, both these guys are They look like
[7:38] Speaker 1: they're going to be star players in this league. A
[7:39] Speaker 1: bunch of Wizards sitting courtside. Yeah to Trey Young, Mayor,
[7:43] Speaker 1: Anthony Davis, DeAndre Ayton, he's on the Wizards. Alexar bub Carrington,
[7:47] Speaker 1: Keishan George to watch the number one pick and some
[7:50] Speaker 1: of these other guys, Will Riley playing in this game
[7:52] Speaker 1: and so on.
[7:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, more teams are getting there more and more over
[7:56] Speaker 2: the last few years, Like the Pelicans are practicing tires. Yeah,
[8:01] Speaker 2: so that's that's cool.
[8:03] Speaker 1: Okay. Any other thoughts on those two top two picks
[8:06] Speaker 1: going at it?
[8:06] Speaker 3: Not about the top two picks, but I think that
[8:08] Speaker 3: had to be an encouraging night for the Wizards. I
[8:10] Speaker 3: think they had all of their roster players show up
[8:13] Speaker 3: for the game last night. So, you know, Anthony Davis
[8:15] Speaker 3: is a question mark. Will he be on the team?
[8:17] Speaker 3: He was there. Did he look thrilled to be there?
[8:19] Speaker 3: I don't know if you would say that, but he
[8:20] Speaker 3: was there. That's good. And then I thought Trey Johnson
[8:23] Speaker 3: and Will Riley were the two best players on the court. Yeah,
[8:26] Speaker 3: which is what you want from the guys who were
[8:28] Speaker 3: in year two. They were dominating out there. Twenty six
[8:30] Speaker 3: for Trey Johnson, a bunch of tough shots. Will Riley
[8:33] Speaker 3: had eighteen basically took over late to win the game
[8:37] Speaker 3: for the Wizards. So a great night for Washington.
[8:39] Speaker 1: Yeah. You want if you're the Washington Wizards or you're
[8:42] Speaker 1: a fan of the Wizards, you want debonsa Trey Johnson
[8:45] Speaker 1: Will Riley to play, you know, two more games and
[8:48] Speaker 1: look like they belong and look especially in the guys
[8:51] Speaker 1: who are playing in their second year. And then you
[8:53] Speaker 1: shut it down early, you give other guys opportunity, you
[8:55] Speaker 1: don't risk injury and all that, and that's probably where
[8:57] Speaker 1: they're headed here, and that always happens at Summer League,
[9:00] Speaker 1: especially guys second third year guys. You're like, okay, you
[9:03] Speaker 1: are much much better. That makes sense, right, So goodwin.
[9:06] Speaker 1: They get it done in the end. I want to
[9:08] Speaker 1: ask you, guys, other players to watch here in Summer League.
[9:11] Speaker 1: Either went out it last night and played, or you're
[9:13] Speaker 1: looking forward to for the rest of the Summer League.
[9:15] Speaker 1: You can get a started te kt.
[9:16] Speaker 3: We got a good matchup in Kings versus Clippers last night,
[9:21] Speaker 3: Darius Acuff versus Keaton Woggler and a Cuff completely outplayed
[9:26] Speaker 3: Woggler in this one. Nineteen points on a whopping six
[9:29] Speaker 3: of twenty field goal attempts for Darius. Acuff also added
[9:32] Speaker 3: seven assists. He looked like he knows how to play instantly,
[9:36] Speaker 3: and it looked like a learning experience for Keaton Woggler,
[9:38] Speaker 3: who went for seven points on just one of seven
[9:41] Speaker 3: field goals and one assist. To me, he was really
[9:43] Speaker 3: struggling to get any separation. He's not a super athlete.
[9:47] Speaker 3: He is a field player. He's not even a guy
[9:49] Speaker 3: that has like crazy handles or an amazing amount of skill.
[9:52] Speaker 3: But he's a right play machine, and that can look bad.
[9:55] Speaker 3: I think sometimes in summer League where it's like, okay,
[9:57] Speaker 3: I can't get open, fine, I'll just go over, I'll
[9:59] Speaker 3: go somewhere else. That's probably the right play, but it's
[10:02] Speaker 3: not exciting to watch it at all, or like, Okay,
[10:04] Speaker 3: a double team's coming to me, I'll pass it and
[10:06] Speaker 3: everybody else is playing offense. That means you did nothing
[10:09] Speaker 3: on the possession, even it's the right thing to do.
[10:11] Speaker 3: So he's gonna have a big I think he's gonna
[10:14] Speaker 3: have a big, growing pains kind of season this year.
[10:17] Speaker 3: He was an unheralded recruit, came out of nowhere to
[10:20] Speaker 3: be a top five pick, and like I said, profile wise,
[10:23] Speaker 3: he doesn't necessarily look like a dominant type out there.
[10:26] Speaker 3: He's gonna have to figure out how his feel and
[10:29] Speaker 3: the way he plays the game translates to the NBA.
[10:32] Speaker 3: Whereas a guy like Acuf just goes out and he's like,
[10:33] Speaker 3: I'm quick. There's not guys out here that can really
[10:35] Speaker 3: guard me. He didn't shoot well, but he got twenty
[10:38] Speaker 3: shots up. That's impressive. We get up that many field
[10:40] Speaker 3: goal attempts compared to seven her Woggler.
[10:44] Speaker 2: I'll say the Sixers have a guy who's ready to
[10:46] Speaker 2: play in LeBaron Phylon. That guy handles, shoots, and talks trash.
[10:53] Speaker 2: That's some real league. So he gets ready to shoot,
[10:55] Speaker 2: he's ready to pass. It's an interesting dynamic there with
[10:59] Speaker 2: edgecumb In Maxi and now Jalen Brown for this guy
[11:02] Speaker 2: who can come off the bench and handle and be
[11:06] Speaker 2: an offense for a lot of it. He can literally
[11:09] Speaker 2: he can score, m pass and do everything out there.
[11:11] Speaker 2: So I liked watching him just as a first game again,
[11:16] Speaker 2: talking trash, that was fun.
[11:17] Speaker 1: He has the ball on a string. His handle is
[11:21] Speaker 1: very very tight. Eighteen point seven assists in the Sixers victory.
[11:24] Speaker 1: He started on fire too. I think he had eleven
[11:27] Speaker 1: very early and he was hitting a bunch of threes.
[11:29] Speaker 1: Cooled off, finished four to ten from distance. But yeah,
[11:31] Speaker 1: look like they have a player could be one of
[11:32] Speaker 1: these guys that looks like a steal at least very early.
[11:35] Speaker 1: Here from the draft what he slipped at twenty two so.
[11:37] Speaker 2: Where he went it was low.
[11:39] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, he's a funny double zero guy. Though maybe
[11:42] Speaker 1: it's the Summer League jerseys. The double zero looks weird
[11:45] Speaker 1: to me.
[11:45] Speaker 3: It looks weird on guards period.
[11:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, just so strange.
[11:48] Speaker 3: But he's got the head band, he had a well,
[11:50] Speaker 3: he had a headband for like half the game and
[11:51] Speaker 3: he took it off. He had a T shirt. I
[11:52] Speaker 3: was like, new Jordan Clarkson just dropped.
[11:55] Speaker 1: Maybe maybe h We got the Bulls playing the Grizzlies
[11:58] Speaker 1: today in Vegas. I think this is a fun game
[11:59] Speaker 1: to watch. Cam Boozer going up against Caleb Wilson. Talk
[12:02] Speaker 1: about a guy in Caleb Wilson who hasn't played in
[12:05] Speaker 1: a long time because he had the hand injury at
[12:07] Speaker 1: the end of the regular season in college there, so
[12:10] Speaker 1: I think it's going to be his first organized game
[12:12] Speaker 1: in five months. They've had good matchups him, Boozer and
[12:17] Speaker 1: Wilson going back to North Carolina and Duke, so that'd
[12:20] Speaker 1: be a good one that I'm excited for a couple
[12:22] Speaker 1: other guys. Another great game for Yaxel Lendenborg. I mean,
[12:26] Speaker 1: he just fills up the box score. He's older, so
[12:28] Speaker 1: he should be good out there. But twenty one points,
[12:30] Speaker 1: ten boards, six assists in twenty eight minutes. He scored
[12:32] Speaker 1: the final nine points for the Warriors. He looks immediately
[12:36] Speaker 1: like a rotation guy in the NBA. Especially, Why wouldn't
[12:39] Speaker 1: this guy be able to play on the Warriors. It's
[12:40] Speaker 1: currently constructed so good, yeah, exactly, and he looks it
[12:44] Speaker 1: he's got a complete game. Yeah, very good. And then
[12:47] Speaker 1: my only other name too. I mean, there's tons of
[12:49] Speaker 1: names to watch, but Lakers guard Cameron Carr looked really
[12:52] Speaker 1: good in the California Classic, like this other sort of
[12:55] Speaker 1: minor summer league showcase. A lot of athleticism, good shooting.
[13:00] Speaker 1: You know, he was a first round pick, so we'll
[13:01] Speaker 1: see how it translates here in Vegas. Any other names.
[13:04] Speaker 3: Marez Johnson probably played Lendeborg last night twenty seven eight, three,
[13:08] Speaker 3: three and two blocks for Marez Johnson, he just looks
[13:11] Speaker 3: like he's going to be an elite garbage man going forward.
[13:15] Speaker 3: Knows how to play and knows what his role is
[13:17] Speaker 3: going to be for a MAVs team that will ultimately
[13:20] Speaker 3: be built around Cooper Flag and what he brings to
[13:22] Speaker 3: the team. And if you can fill around that, be
[13:24] Speaker 3: a defensive player, finish inside, you could stick on the
[13:27] Speaker 3: Mavericks for a long time. I think in task you
[13:29] Speaker 3: had to be happy. Kobe Buffkin thirty points on eight
[13:32] Speaker 3: of sixteen shooting.
[13:34] Speaker 1: He's the leading scorer.
[13:35] Speaker 3: I think he's not even twenty three years oldly yet.
[13:38] Speaker 2: And not even signed to a contract. Who wants him?
[13:40] Speaker 1: He's on the Pelicans summer League roster.
[13:42] Speaker 2: Right yeah, but he does not have a guaranteed deal.
[13:45] Speaker 2: They've got fourteen guaranteed deals plus a two way player,
[13:47] Speaker 2: so he's available. He splashed two four or four point
[13:52] Speaker 2: opportunities in the first quarter. I mean, that guy can score.
[13:55] Speaker 2: He had twenty one in the first half, thirty overall.
[13:58] Speaker 2: He can score. Somebody's got to pick this guy up.
[14:02] Speaker 2: I don't know who it's going to be. I doubt
[14:03] Speaker 2: it's going to be the Pelicans. But see him go
[14:06] Speaker 2: against Joan Baron Jay on the other side. He tried
[14:08] Speaker 2: to dunk on Baron Jay, which was awesome. Baron Jay
[14:10] Speaker 2: blocked him. Baron Jay is going to play. I could
[14:14] Speaker 2: definitely be swayed watching one Summer League game for sure,
[14:17] Speaker 2: as I was last year in his first Summer League
[14:19] Speaker 2: game as a kid when he's eighteen, he had six
[14:21] Speaker 2: blocks right off the bat. But this year, now that
[14:24] Speaker 2: they've traded nas Reed away, for the Minnesota Timberwls. This
[14:27] Speaker 2: guy's going to play, as simple as that. He's nineteen,
[14:30] Speaker 2: but I think he is far better at making decisions
[14:33] Speaker 2: on defense. He's better at just knowing where he's going
[14:37] Speaker 2: to be. So it's about the defensive end, and he
[14:40] Speaker 2: looks better he's going to play. We know that another
[14:42] Speaker 2: guy's playing backup center, cal Mary Boyles. I know he's
[14:45] Speaker 2: going into second year and he did incredibly well in
[14:49] Speaker 2: that playoff run for the Toronto Raptors. But they're trying
[14:51] Speaker 2: to make him more of a player. They're putting a
[14:54] Speaker 2: lot on his shoulders to not only be a backup center,
[14:57] Speaker 2: but to be a ball handler. As our man Grange reported,
[15:01] Speaker 2: that's what he's doing out there, to be a pick
[15:02] Speaker 2: and roll ball handler as a backup center. And he's
[15:04] Speaker 2: going to jump. They've already said, you're jumping from twenty
[15:08] Speaker 2: two minutes per game last year to thirty this year.
[15:10] Speaker 2: And I could I buy that because they need a
[15:12] Speaker 2: backup center. He is that guy and he'll finish games.
[15:15] Speaker 2: And I made that joke a couple of weeks ago
[15:18] Speaker 2: that maybe that Orlando Robinson, that old guy could be useful.
[15:22] Speaker 2: He's just way too slow as we saw in that
[15:25] Speaker 2: game with debatsa destroying him just going by him. So
[15:29] Speaker 2: they don't need a third string point guard. They are center.
[15:32] Speaker 2: I should say they've got Colin Murray Boyles. We'll see him.
[15:35] Speaker 2: I want to watch him as a as a guy
[15:37] Speaker 2: who's developed a little bit.
[15:39] Speaker 1: We also learned that the NBA told jazzguard Kiante George
[15:42] Speaker 1: that he will not be able to coach during any
[15:45] Speaker 1: of these summer league games. According to the Desert News,
[15:49] Speaker 1: George is not the first active NBA player who has
[15:51] Speaker 1: wanted to join the coaching ranks, like in a voluntary rule,
[15:55] Speaker 1: but the league wanted to keep the rules consistent across
[15:58] Speaker 1: the board, so they they shot this down. From what
[16:01] Speaker 1: I could tell, the league office did tell the Jazz
[16:03] Speaker 1: five or six days ago that he could join them
[16:06] Speaker 1: as a coach for like one game, and then they
[16:10] Speaker 1: reviewed the situation and you know, I guess relied on
[16:12] Speaker 1: precedent and they're like, uh no, you can't, to which
[16:16] Speaker 1: a lot of people are like, what the hell, come on?
[16:18] Speaker 1: We had Richard Jefferson as an NBA official in a
[16:21] Speaker 1: summer league game. Once George can't be over there calling
[16:24] Speaker 1: up a player two but any thoughts on this?
[16:27] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I guess the league is going back
[16:30] Speaker 3: on their word a lot right now.
[16:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, they are.
[16:32] Speaker 3: It fits in with the recent news. But they should
[16:35] Speaker 3: have just given Keyante Georgia polo and sent him out
[16:37] Speaker 3: there to coach, and then had the league say no,
[16:39] Speaker 3: you can't do that.
[16:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, just don't ask. Don't ask.
[16:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you don't got to ask for permission, ask
[16:44] Speaker 2: for forgiveness. If they say, hey, that guy can't coach,
[16:48] Speaker 2: just go out there, okay. God.
[16:50] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[16:50] Speaker 2: They like to bend rules, and in this instance, this
[16:53] Speaker 2: guy who's already a part of their coaching staff. If
[16:56] Speaker 2: you read that Desert News article, he's already been out
[16:58] Speaker 2: there calling plays and practices. So number one, why isn't
[17:03] Speaker 2: he playing? Has he heard? Why isn't he part of
[17:05] Speaker 2: those practices and running the teams? I guess because he's
[17:07] Speaker 2: not part of the summer League team. But he should
[17:10] Speaker 2: have been a point guard out there with Darren Peterson
[17:13] Speaker 2: because they didn't have a point guard. That looked very stupid. Yeah,
[17:17] Speaker 2: this whole thing is weird.
[17:18] Speaker 1: But he's Yeah, but he's around, Like you said, he's
[17:20] Speaker 1: been around these.
[17:21] Speaker 2: Young apparently as a coach.
[17:24] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, which is why give him an opportunity here?
[17:26] Speaker 1: Imagine he was like, imagine they gave him this chance,
[17:29] Speaker 1: and he's like, oh my god, I'm so good at this.
[17:31] Speaker 1: I'm leaving the NBA. I'm going right into the coach.
[17:34] Speaker 1: I want a story. We give a movie out of that.
[17:36] Speaker 1: But no, the NBA says, no, I can't do that.
[17:39] Speaker 1: Then we allow you to do it, and everybody's gonna
[17:42] Speaker 1: want to do it, so good.
[17:44] Speaker 3: Cool, that'd be awesome. Yeah, Summer league guys, nobody, how
[17:48] Speaker 3: dare we have our current players teaching our younger players
[17:51] Speaker 3: how to play basketball? Yeah? A bummer. Yes, I mean
[17:55] Speaker 3: it's not like I was going to be like, oh Man, County,
[17:57] Speaker 3: George's turn it on.
[17:59] Speaker 1: But you're a little intriguement. Yeah, sure, I.
[18:01] Speaker 3: Don't know who coached the Jazz summ League team.
[18:03] Speaker 2: Like right right, Yeah, it definitely wasn't well.
[18:05] Speaker 1: Assistance usually Yeah, yeah.
[18:07] Speaker 2: I don't know. I thought I knew for a second.
[18:09] Speaker 3: But did you guys see the guy on the Clippers
[18:13] Speaker 3: Nick Apple Juice Martinelli jumps on his free throws.
[18:17] Speaker 1: I saw this in doors. Burke was very shocked. Yes,
[18:21] Speaker 1: slow mo, well this guy, I mean, legit jumps, get
[18:24] Speaker 1: apple juice. It's a tiny jumper at the free throw.
[18:27] Speaker 3: That was pretty crazy.
[18:29] Speaker 1: We had Aggie. We had a weggie yesterday too. Final
[18:31] Speaker 1: three point exactly, very long. Okay, let's get into the
[18:37] Speaker 1: big news from yesterday. The Clippers Raptors trade centered around
[18:41] Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard will not be completed until the NBA investigation
[18:46] Speaker 1: into whether the Clippers circumvented the salary cap is completed.
[18:51] Speaker 1: A bunch of statements were released from both sides. The
[18:53] Speaker 1: Raptors said in their statement Thursday that though they are
[18:57] Speaker 1: eager to add Kawhi to their roster, they will quote
[19:00] Speaker 1: wait until the league's investigation is complete before finalizing the deal. Uh,
[19:06] Speaker 1: where do you want to start with this? There's sort
[19:08] Speaker 1: of is oddly a lot to unpack with this. Where
[19:10] Speaker 1: does your mind go instantly?
[19:12] Speaker 2: Why is this announcement happening nine days after the trade happened.
[19:16] Speaker 2: It's either because the NBA is thinking, Okay, we'll say
[19:20] Speaker 2: this right here, right now, and it just shows we
[19:23] Speaker 2: are trying to investigate the Clippers. Do you see We're
[19:27] Speaker 2: trying something here, although I think it would just result
[19:32] Speaker 2: in them not doing a thing. It's either that or
[19:36] Speaker 2: it took them this long to figure it out because
[19:39] Speaker 2: they're just doing the investigation now, and maybe the punch
[19:42] Speaker 2: and maybe the punishment is actually going to be something.
[19:45] Speaker 2: But I definitely lean to the former and they're just
[19:48] Speaker 2: saying something just to say something. But I don't know
[19:50] Speaker 2: why it's nine days later to go from Adam Silver
[19:54] Speaker 2: a month ago saying, oh, we're almost at the end
[19:56] Speaker 2: of this investigation and seemingly it's going to end up
[20:01] Speaker 2: happening at the beginning of June to this now after
[20:05] Speaker 2: nine days. It doesn't make sense. I think it's just
[20:07] Speaker 2: the NBA just deciding, oh, we'll put out this memo
[20:10] Speaker 2: just a kind of show that we're doing some sort
[20:15] Speaker 2: of investigation as to if the Clippers did anything at all. Okay,
[20:19] Speaker 2: just weird. I know, it's weird.
[20:20] Speaker 1: The whole thing is absolutely weird, downright embarrassing for Silver
[20:24] Speaker 1: in the league that it's even gotten to this point.
[20:26] Speaker 1: Of course, this is what ten eleven months now, I mean,
[20:29] Speaker 1: after Pablo broke the news. It's officially the second season
[20:32] Speaker 1: that we're talking about. Yes, yeah, so depending on the
[20:35] Speaker 1: outcome of the league's investigation, this is a real thing
[20:38] Speaker 1: at all. Kawhi's contract could potentially be voided or altered
[20:43] Speaker 1: in some way. So had the Raptors finalized the acquisition
[20:46] Speaker 1: of Kawhi before the situation was settled, they would have
[20:50] Speaker 1: been taking on the risk of losing him like again, suspensions, whatever.
[20:54] Speaker 1: So the League was basically saying to the Raptors here yesterday, hey,
[20:59] Speaker 1: before you sign, did you read the fine print on
[21:02] Speaker 1: all this, because it's a bit of a buyer's beware here.
[21:04] Speaker 1: We have decided now, the reporting says, and I believe this,
[21:08] Speaker 1: when they were talking about this trade back in late June,
[21:12] Speaker 1: I assume they went to the League office prior to
[21:15] Speaker 1: agreeing in principle to the trade, like, hey, are we
[21:18] Speaker 1: cool to do this? Like, you know, I know this
[21:21] Speaker 1: investigation is going on, but if us the Raptors want
[21:23] Speaker 1: to trade for Kawhi, and they were like yeah, and
[21:25] Speaker 1: then they've switched it up here at the last second.
[21:27] Speaker 1: It sounds like and so the Raptors, I think wisely,
[21:30] Speaker 1: are saying, okay, well, we can't sign on the dotted line.
[21:33] Speaker 1: If you're saying, suddenly we in taking on Kawhi if
[21:36] Speaker 1: he is to be suspended, then then we're getting screwed again.
[21:41] Speaker 2: Sure, right, But according to some reporting, Michael Granger's reporting,
[21:45] Speaker 2: if that contract is voided, then the trade is entirely canceled.
[21:50] Speaker 2: They get Ingram Dick and the picks back, and Kawhi
[21:55] Speaker 2: Leonards a free agent, so they technically could sign it.
[21:57] Speaker 4: Well.
[21:57] Speaker 1: So that's interesting because you could say, when they were
[22:00] Speaker 1: telling the Raptors again, like if you do this, you
[22:04] Speaker 1: take on responsibility for whatever. Yeah, the investigation falls on Kawha's.
[22:09] Speaker 2: So I write, I read that, and I say, why
[22:11] Speaker 2: can't the Clippers assume every single penalization? Why not? I
[22:18] Speaker 2: mean the four things that the Clipper the Raptors could
[22:20] Speaker 2: get hit with now it's a seven point five million
[22:22] Speaker 2: dollars fine, the forfeiture of draft picks, suspension of team personnel,
[22:27] Speaker 2: and potentially voiding a player contract. Those are the things
[22:31] Speaker 2: that are in the CBA if you circumvent the salary cap.
[22:35] Speaker 1: So yeah, but but I interpret that as like, why
[22:39] Speaker 1: can't a lot of those would be still? Well, I
[22:41] Speaker 1: think they would be. I think they would be dinged
[22:44] Speaker 1: responsible from a lot of those things you said, possibly
[22:46] Speaker 1: the fine, draft picks all that. But if Kawhi is
[22:49] Speaker 1: on the trount Raptors, if this is an official trade,
[22:51] Speaker 1: and the investigation shows, Oh Kawhi and his representatives were
[22:55] Speaker 1: also played a huge part in this. Uncle Dennis, you
[22:58] Speaker 1: shady man, were suspending you fifty games? Whatever it is. Well,
[23:02] Speaker 1: then of course that hurts the Tronto Raptors. I'm not
[23:04] Speaker 1: saying it's right. That's why they're not agreeing to it.
[23:06] Speaker 1: That's how I look at it.
[23:07] Speaker 3: That's what Michael Grange said. He said, this is basically
[23:11] Speaker 3: a worst case scenario. We can't have this go through
[23:13] Speaker 3: and then have Kawhi get suspended. Yeah, if you want
[23:16] Speaker 3: to punish Kawhi Leonard, make him play eighty two games,
[23:20] Speaker 3: that's true. So what changed though? Because reporting literally does
[23:24] Speaker 3: say the NBA informed the Raptors before they agreed to
[23:27] Speaker 3: the trade that the investigation could cause issues with any
[23:29] Speaker 3: deal involving Leonard. That's been in three different places. Wind
[23:32] Speaker 3: Orders reported it, Michael Grange reported it, and The Athletic
[23:36] Speaker 3: has reported it. They're all saying the Raptors knew going in,
[23:39] Speaker 3: and then the trade call actually happens and they're like,
[23:41] Speaker 3: wait a second, don't we don't want to be suspended.
[23:45] Speaker 3: So I don't know, that's just very strange to me.
[23:47] Speaker 3: Why didn't they why why what the Raptors were told
[23:50] Speaker 3: prior to the trade is different than when they actually
[23:53] Speaker 3: got on the trade call. I guess it is a
[23:55] Speaker 3: little similar. Remember at the trade deadline there were question
[23:59] Speaker 3: marks about can Terry Rozier's deal be put into a
[24:02] Speaker 3: trade by the Heat, and the League was like, we
[24:04] Speaker 3: can't tell you until you try and do it. Yeah,
[24:06] Speaker 3: so maybe that's what it is. There's like, we can
[24:07] Speaker 3: give you some advice, but until you make that final
[24:10] Speaker 3: trade call, we won't tell you the actual story.
[24:13] Speaker 1: And the Heat got screwed and then he got screwed.
[24:15] Speaker 3: And so yeah, I mean, I'm with you. I think
[24:17] Speaker 3: this is super embarrassing for the League to still be
[24:20] Speaker 3: talking about the Kawhi Leonard scandal a year later. It
[24:24] Speaker 3: better be done by next week. There's a Board of
[24:26] Speaker 3: Governor's meeting next week and it needs to be finished
[24:28] Speaker 3: by then.
[24:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, according to Grange, he said, yeah, it could be
[24:33] Speaker 2: resolved by the Board of Governors meeting there in Las Vegas.
[24:36] Speaker 2: They'll decide yeah, yeah, the Clippers don't need to be
[24:40] Speaker 2: penalized for anything or whatever. They will sitting around that
[24:43] Speaker 2: table because it feels like it's just to me, they're
[24:47] Speaker 2: just putting out something to say something, because how could
[24:50] Speaker 2: they have not known? How could they not know what
[24:55] Speaker 2: the lake? What are the Clippers are going to get
[24:57] Speaker 2: hit with here? How could they not know? They've been
[24:59] Speaker 2: investigating for.
[25:00] Speaker 1: Ten still investigating tests.
[25:02] Speaker 2: I know, Adams a change here.
[25:04] Speaker 1: This is ridiculous.
[25:05] Speaker 2: Adam Silver, was that that NBA day as saying, Hey,
[25:09] Speaker 2: we know it's almost over. We got to get this done.
[25:12] Speaker 2: That was a month ago. This is weird.
[25:15] Speaker 1: I Yeah. The fascinating part, though, to me now becomes
[25:18] Speaker 1: and you've said before and I do agree with you ultimately,
[25:21] Speaker 1: like you don't think Kawhi is ultimately going to get punished.
[25:25] Speaker 1: But but this this hold up and the raptor is saying, okay,
[25:29] Speaker 1: we're not going to agree to the trade because you're
[25:30] Speaker 1: saying we would take on the risk, makes me wonder, like, suddenly,
[25:35] Speaker 1: is there more information that we don't know yet you
[25:37] Speaker 1: know in the public that maybe he will Yeah, that
[25:40] Speaker 1: maybe it's a possibility.
[25:41] Speaker 2: And maybe they found that out over the last nine
[25:43] Speaker 2: days when they decided to actually discuss it with the company.
[25:47] Speaker 2: What's the name of the company that's actually doing the investigation, Oh, if.
[25:50] Speaker 1: You want the law firm, Yeah, wacked ol lipped in
[25:54] Speaker 1: Rosen and Cats the real winners of all this, aren't they?
[25:57] Speaker 1: Billible hours?
[25:58] Speaker 2: Maybe yeah, maybe Rosen and Cats decided, hey, we're gonna
[26:03] Speaker 2: investigate this last week and they actually found something out
[26:06] Speaker 2: because this is this is so strange.
[26:09] Speaker 3: I mean, deadlines encourage you to work. Yes, oh, somebody
[26:13] Speaker 3: typed this up.
[26:14] Speaker 1: Well, I mean Silver at the start of the finals
[26:16] Speaker 1: was like, quote, we can't be investigating forever. And I
[26:20] Speaker 1: guess walked a Lipton Rosen and Cats that hold my beer, baby,
[26:24] Speaker 1: we absolutely can't.
[26:25] Speaker 2: And he said he said, quote, the inquiry was far along,
[26:30] Speaker 2: but now you just realize something. A month after that,
[26:34] Speaker 2: well what changed? Yeah, exactly.
[26:35] Speaker 1: A trade involving the main piece here. Yeah, does complicate things,
[26:40] Speaker 1: which is what we said and everybody said when that
[26:43] Speaker 1: trade news broke, like we were pumped Qui's coming back Toronto,
[26:45] Speaker 1: but it was like, hold on, what's going on here?
[26:48] Speaker 1: He is still I mean him, the team they're under investigation,
[26:52] Speaker 1: are they not? It's not settled.
[26:55] Speaker 2: So yeah, maybe let's trace said it's just a deadline,
[26:58] Speaker 2: and they started to your things out, you know, in
[27:03] Speaker 2: collaboration with what Uncle Dennis did to both the Raptors
[27:07] Speaker 2: and the Lakers asking for both ownership in what's ownership
[27:14] Speaker 2: in different companies right in the in the the sponsorships.
[27:19] Speaker 1: I mean just asking for things he's not legally allowed
[27:22] Speaker 1: to ask through.
[27:23] Speaker 2: With the remember problem they said investigating.
[27:25] Speaker 1: I think the Raptors said no, and then they told
[27:27] Speaker 1: the league like he's asking for things he's not legally
[27:29] Speaker 1: allowed to be asking for it. Right, That's that's you
[27:32] Speaker 1: know obviously what published reporting shows too and others.
[27:34] Speaker 2: So yeah, absolutely, Yeah, as.
[27:36] Speaker 1: Zilla wrote in his newsletter today, quote the Clippers, I
[27:39] Speaker 1: mean a possibility here the Clippers will no longer bear
[27:42] Speaker 1: the penalty of losing Kawai for a period of time.
[27:44] Speaker 1: If that's where the verdict comes down, that is pretty insane.
[27:47] Speaker 1: That goes to what you were saying, TK, like the
[27:50] Speaker 1: season is over where Kawhi was a Clipper. Yeah, so
[27:54] Speaker 1: if he is suspended again twenty thirty forty fifty, Like,
[27:57] Speaker 1: if it happens, and it's probably still a long shot
[27:59] Speaker 1: because I think you'd have the union getting involved in
[28:02] Speaker 1: all that. But that's crazy that the Raptors would be
[28:05] Speaker 1: the team getting penalized from the Kawhi side of things. Now,
[28:10] Speaker 1: could that influence Silver's decision on other penalties directly hitting
[28:14] Speaker 1: the Clippers maybe, like you know, the loss of draft
[28:18] Speaker 1: picks and cap related things.
[28:20] Speaker 2: That so fun. This is so fun to talk about
[28:22] Speaker 2: the gossip because it could just be Kawhi Leonard's contract
[28:25] Speaker 2: being voided and not necessarily it could. Yeah, and then
[28:29] Speaker 2: he's a free agent and then the Toronto Raptors literally
[28:32] Speaker 2: could sign him, you know, to the veteran minimum. Highly unlikely,
[28:36] Speaker 2: It's highly unlikely. But the slide them all something under
[28:40] Speaker 2: the table there you go. Yeah, the non taxpayer mle
[28:44] Speaker 2: mid level exception.
[28:46] Speaker 1: But this holds up other business maneuvers for both teams,
[28:51] Speaker 1: and you know, sorry Clippers, but I'm really focused on
[28:53] Speaker 1: the Raptors here, like obviously brandon Ingram and graded Dicker
[28:57] Speaker 1: also in limbo now here and potential moves and stuff
[29:00] Speaker 1: like that with a trade of this magnitude just like
[29:03] Speaker 1: on pause, like it like this has to be decided
[29:06] Speaker 1: next week at this port a Goner meeting.
[29:08] Speaker 2: It has to. Yeah, that's what makes me think it's
[29:10] Speaker 2: just them trying to put a little bit of a
[29:12] Speaker 2: light on the NBA, trying to indicate we did something here.
[29:18] Speaker 2: I mean, it's kind of another spotlight and it's late
[29:20] Speaker 2: in the season, or they haven't done anything the following season,
[29:23] Speaker 2: they've done nothing. Oh yeah, of course, I know. They're
[29:26] Speaker 2: just making it.
[29:27] Speaker 1: Evidence from both the Clippers and Raptors is not doing something.
[29:29] Speaker 2: You know what I mean. But it's just well, I know,
[29:32] Speaker 2: but they're just trying to indicate that we did something.
[29:34] Speaker 2: There's headlines about them being part of an investigation. We
[29:39] Speaker 2: know the white collar law firm's name. You know, something happened,
[29:43] Speaker 2: you know. Otherwise it's not even a story. It hasn't
[29:47] Speaker 2: been a story. Otherwise it would just be something that
[29:49] Speaker 2: happens in August or whenever it's going to happen. This
[29:53] Speaker 2: is actually something. There's no explanation for why it is
[29:57] Speaker 2: taking so long.
[29:58] Speaker 3: Whindhorse sat on the podcast today that it feels like
[30:01] Speaker 3: the league is getting their ducks in a row because
[30:04] Speaker 3: they're going up against Steve Balmer, the richest owner in
[30:06] Speaker 3: the league, one of the richest people on Earth. YEP,
[30:09] Speaker 3: that guy's going to have all of the resources to
[30:11] Speaker 3: fight whatever comes back the Clippers way, so they have
[30:13] Speaker 3: to nail it. Like the only thing that would be
[30:15] Speaker 3: worse than the way they've handled it is if they
[30:18] Speaker 3: announced what happened in the investigation and the Clippers like
[30:20] Speaker 3: counter sue and then win that like ooh, you blew
[30:23] Speaker 3: it NBA after wasting a year. So they have to
[30:26] Speaker 3: nail it at the very first time, and it could
[30:28] Speaker 3: work out for the Raptors, Like it wouldn't be surprising
[30:30] Speaker 3: if both teams in both of their statements they both
[30:33] Speaker 3: say they want the trade to go through. Yes, the
[30:34] Speaker 3: Raptors are like, we're eager to get Kawhi Leonard. We
[30:36] Speaker 3: expect a swift revolution resolution. It should be done soon.
[30:40] Speaker 3: We still want Kawhi. Maybe they just have to tinker
[30:42] Speaker 3: with the draft compensation going back to the Clippers, and
[30:45] Speaker 3: then it ends up the Raptors get Kawhi. They're still
[30:48] Speaker 3: gonna have to pay him whatever his extension is, but
[30:51] Speaker 3: they're get him for less first round picks. Yeah, that'd
[30:53] Speaker 3: be great for the Raptors. Like, wouldn't you do that
[30:55] Speaker 3: even if they said, Kawhi Leonard is going to be
[30:57] Speaker 3: suspended thirty games next season, but we're growing in one
[31:00] Speaker 3: last first round pick? Would you do it? Heartbeat easily?
[31:04] Speaker 1: Anyway? This workd out better?
[31:07] Speaker 3: Yes, League mandated load managing for Kawhi Leonard.
[31:10] Speaker 2: Maybe, yeah, the Clippers are going to have to give
[31:13] Speaker 2: up that first round pick, is what it feels like
[31:15] Speaker 2: at this point.
[31:16] Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, yeah, yeah.
[31:18] Speaker 1: Does it go back to the Raptors is the question?
[31:21] Speaker 1: Or is it just a completely voided pick, you know,
[31:23] Speaker 1: the Clippers. I should go back to the Raptors, I
[31:24] Speaker 1: would think, but who knows. Sorry, we'll hopefully have this,
[31:29] Speaker 1: or it's not even part of the deal. It's some
[31:30] Speaker 1: other pick that they own. I mean, we don't know
[31:32] Speaker 1: what this right.
[31:34] Speaker 2: That may not have anything to do It doesn't necessarily
[31:36] Speaker 2: have anything to do with the Raptors. And that's why
[31:38] Speaker 2: the Raptors, I said, I assume stepped in and said
[31:42] Speaker 2: we want nothing to do with it. So it doesn't
[31:44] Speaker 2: involve us. It's all about the Clippers and what they
[31:47] Speaker 2: did with Kauhi. This has nothing to do with the trade.
[31:50] Speaker 3: Ye.
[31:50] Speaker 1: But again that's why it's not being called through the league,
[31:53] Speaker 1: because the League is telling the Raptors okay, yeah, but hey,
[31:56] Speaker 1: before you agree to this, if the investigation finds Kawhi
[32:02] Speaker 1: guilty in any of this and he's penalized, then that's
[32:04] Speaker 1: on you because you'll have acquired him. So they're like, well,
[32:07] Speaker 1: we better wait. Then again, I think a week ago
[32:10] Speaker 1: they weren't told that, or they were under the assumption.
[32:13] Speaker 1: Either the raptors just assumed it was going to be
[32:16] Speaker 1: fine and Kawhi wouldn't be penalized. And again, maybe that'll
[32:19] Speaker 1: be the case, or they were given misinformation, or at
[32:22] Speaker 1: least the NBA changed their mind and the lawyers changed
[32:24] Speaker 1: their mind, and everyone was like, uh, you know what,
[32:26] Speaker 1: you better tell them, you better say this to them
[32:29] Speaker 1: at least, And then they said, okay, we'll wait.
[32:32] Speaker 2: What a mess.
[32:34] Speaker 1: It's insane that it's taken this long. That's yeah. I
[32:37] Speaker 1: mean I remember us debating whether it would be decided
[32:40] Speaker 1: before the All Star break, which was in LA. I
[32:43] Speaker 1: remember us having these conversations with that. Well, probably not.
[32:46] Speaker 1: They'd love to have that in the into a dome
[32:48] Speaker 1: still and yeah, yeah, sort of put that on the
[32:50] Speaker 1: back burner. Okay, it'll get done after that, you know,
[32:52] Speaker 1: maybe march orsome. Here we are still.
[32:55] Speaker 2: Has there ever been a more interesting Board of Governor's
[32:57] Speaker 2: meeting in the history of the NBA for fans? I
[33:01] Speaker 2: don't think so.
[33:03] Speaker 1: Maybe like walkouts and stuff.
[33:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Stern versus the PA. Sure, but this is great.
[33:09] Speaker 2: This is fun. This is one fun. This is one
[33:12] Speaker 2: that happens in one of those hotels where they usually happen,
[33:14] Speaker 2: some particular hotels win.
[33:16] Speaker 1: I can't remember where they stay.
[33:18] Speaker 2: I've walked by it before, but this time there's gonna
[33:20] Speaker 2: be some press. Like I've walked by it, there's been
[33:23] Speaker 2: no one there. Now there's gonna be some stuff. Okay, yeah,
[33:26] Speaker 2: exciting stuff.
[33:27] Speaker 1: We're not there, all right, Let's take a break and
[33:29] Speaker 1: then we'll get into some sillier topics in the updown report.
[33:34] Speaker 2: Spain Belgium today or no, I got that one wrong. No, No,
[33:39] Speaker 2: I've got Spain to win now, but I kind of
[33:41] Speaker 2: want Spain. I kind of want Belgium to win after
[33:45] Speaker 2: they beat What am I saying?
[33:47] Speaker 1: What are you saying?
[33:48] Speaker 3: Spain and Belgium?
[33:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they played three. Yeah, I got it. I
[33:51] Speaker 2: got it conflated because I thought Spain won yesterday. That
[33:54] Speaker 2: was France. I get my Spains in France mixed up.
[33:58] Speaker 2: I've got Spain to win, but I kind of want
[34:00] Speaker 2: Belgium after they beat the USA, you know what I mean?
[34:03] Speaker 2: But then we get Norway, England early, Holland's all up
[34:06] Speaker 2: in my algorithm these days.
[34:08] Speaker 1: Looks like a green onion.
[34:10] Speaker 2: The videos have you seen that? No, I have not
[34:13] Speaker 2: seen it.
[34:14] Speaker 1: You take a green because of his hair, there's a
[34:17] Speaker 1: lot of.
[34:19] Speaker 2: There's there's a video of him eating and then he
[34:22] Speaker 2: sees himself in the mirror, which is right beside him,
[34:25] Speaker 2: and he jumps. I mean, he's a likable guy, even
[34:28] Speaker 2: if you hate him, even if you think it's weird
[34:31] Speaker 2: that he walks around with those very expensive briefcases and
[34:35] Speaker 2: bags and stuck in bags. Yeah, I think he's a
[34:38] Speaker 2: likable guy. I like my algorithm. That's all I gotta say.
[34:41] Speaker 2: And now FanDuel is giving you a reason to root
[34:43] Speaker 2: for every single goal. Introducing every goal pays bet on
[34:48] Speaker 2: a match and get bonus bets for every goal scored
[34:51] Speaker 2: in that match. That's right. More goals means more bonus
[34:55] Speaker 2: bets than All you have to do is turn on
[34:57] Speaker 2: your token. Let there be goals on FanDuel.
[35:01] Speaker 3: JD.
[35:01] Speaker 1: Your guy looked pretty good yesterday. I don't know if
[35:03] Speaker 1: you watched your French team play Buppy.
[35:10] Speaker 5: I did not watch his single sick same Unfortunately, why
[35:16] Speaker 5: I had my alta pickleball practice because there comes first
[35:21] Speaker 5: my physical health.
[35:22] Speaker 2: Was that a three pm Eastern time. Yes, yeah, that's
[35:26] Speaker 2: maybe four.
[35:27] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, so they're all over the place.
[35:29] Speaker 3: Got shut down on p K though he did. Yeah,
[35:32] Speaker 3: that was surprising, it was.
[35:34] Speaker 1: That was a bad PK for him. Yeah, I could save,
[35:36] Speaker 1: but he didn't have a lot of juice on that one.
[35:38] Speaker 3: Not a lot of juice. I hate the stutter steps.
[35:41] Speaker 3: I kiss stupid. They like banded a different stutter and
[35:45] Speaker 3: now you have to stutter one step before you do it,
[35:47] Speaker 3: and every guy does it.
[35:48] Speaker 2: I know you have to do it one step.
[35:50] Speaker 3: You can't. You can't like get to the ball stutter
[35:53] Speaker 3: and then kick. You have to stutter step kick.
[35:56] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah. Broadcasters, hey it every time it happens,
[36:01] Speaker 2: broadcast like, this isn't part of the game sort of thing.
[36:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks stupid, Just.
[36:07] Speaker 2: Go kick it.
[36:08] Speaker 1: He made up for it with his goal in the
[36:10] Speaker 1: actual That was a sick all right, let's get into
[36:14] Speaker 1: the updown report. According to Brian Windhorse, the Wizards promised
[36:22] Speaker 1: Trey Young they would sign him to a near max
[36:25] Speaker 1: contract after acquiring him at the trade deadline, but they
[36:28] Speaker 1: needed or wanted him to sit out games to secure
[36:32] Speaker 1: the top pick. Trey Young ended up playing five games
[36:35] Speaker 1: for Washington, all of them losses, by the way, after
[36:39] Speaker 1: he made his way to washing So you know, this
[36:41] Speaker 1: made some news yesterday. Up or down TK on the
[36:43] Speaker 1: Wizards promising Trey Young a max contract in exchange for
[36:47] Speaker 1: sitting out the rest of last year.
[36:49] Speaker 3: What does mean to you that you're.
[36:51] Speaker 1: Okay, that you're okay with this and down you'd be like,
[36:54] Speaker 1: this is pretty shady.
[36:55] Speaker 3: Okay, Then I think it's shady. Okay, I do think
[36:57] Speaker 3: it's shady. We hear a lot about these wink Wink deals,
[37:00] Speaker 3: and the trade has made it feels like the extension
[37:02] Speaker 3: is already lined up. That's normal stuff the brandon ing room.
[37:07] Speaker 3: We've seen it with Pascal Siakama. Happens all the time.
[37:09] Speaker 3: I couldn't totally tell if a Windhorse was reporting or speculating.
[37:13] Speaker 3: I feel like it was a little bit of both.
[37:15] Speaker 3: But this is a little different when you're literally like, yeah,
[37:18] Speaker 3: sit out because we're protecting our draft pick here. It
[37:21] Speaker 3: felt like everybody knew that. But having the promise of
[37:23] Speaker 3: getting two hundred million dollars at the end is kind
[37:26] Speaker 3: of weird. That's just that just was a little weird
[37:29] Speaker 3: ski to me.
[37:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, but he also in his whether it was quoting
[37:36] Speaker 2: what the Wizard said. Brian Windhors never used the word max,
[37:39] Speaker 2: not even close. He didn't use that word max. He
[37:41] Speaker 2: did say, we will give you an extension. That's what
[37:44] Speaker 2: he implied that the Wizard said, we will give you
[37:46] Speaker 2: an extension.
[37:46] Speaker 1: Trade already knew he was going to get paid. Quote
[37:50] Speaker 1: from Windhorse Peace, Yeah, yeah, what does that mean?
[37:52] Speaker 2: That could mean one hundred million over three years. I
[37:55] Speaker 2: mean that's I saw this aggregate. The misquote. I'm down
[37:59] Speaker 2: on that Reddit user Shay fan Club who put this
[38:03] Speaker 2: up and it started to get a lot of steam
[38:06] Speaker 2: from there. It's a misquote. Don't like it. He didn't
[38:08] Speaker 2: use the word max. And so when we actually heard
[38:12] Speaker 2: about the Trey Young trade, we said, how many games
[38:15] Speaker 2: is he going to play? I think that over under
[38:17] Speaker 2: Skizu throughout there was twenty for games. But I took Yeah,
[38:21] Speaker 2: you know, I was naive for sure. I thought Trey
[38:23] Speaker 2: was going to try and prove that he was worth
[38:25] Speaker 2: somewhere close to the MAX, because I don't think he
[38:28] Speaker 2: should have gotten anywhere close to the max. He got
[38:32] Speaker 2: the max, which is a crazy amount of money. So
[38:36] Speaker 2: down in a lot of whole different ways. This is
[38:40] Speaker 2: this is this is weird. He just said we're going
[38:42] Speaker 2: to take They just said we're going to take care
[38:44] Speaker 2: of you and pay you, I thought at that time,
[38:46] Speaker 2: because he was traded for CJ. McCollum and Corey Kispert
[38:49] Speaker 2: and that's it. No draft picks that he wouldn't get
[38:51] Speaker 2: anywhere close to four years over two hundred.
[38:54] Speaker 1: Two hundred and twelve million, seven point five percent trade
[38:57] Speaker 1: kicker too. I mean, it's a massive gamble obviously on
[39:00] Speaker 1: the health of Trey youngah in that contract.
[39:02] Speaker 2: And the length yet the length of it for sure, but.
[39:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, do I believe this happened one hundred percent? Yeah, Like,
[39:08] Speaker 1: we're gonna make this deal. And hey, by the way, Trey,
[39:10] Speaker 1: I know you're a little banged up as it is.
[39:13] Speaker 1: You don't need to play a lot here. You don't
[39:15] Speaker 1: because we'd like to get the number one pick. That'd
[39:17] Speaker 1: be great to get the batsa beside you and everything else.
[39:21] Speaker 1: So you take it easy. We're going to pay you.
[39:23] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[39:24] Speaker 1: Maybe they didn't get into the actual specifics, but uh,
[39:27] Speaker 1: this is what happened here. That's what they did. He
[39:29] Speaker 1: got paid a lot more than we thought for sure,
[39:32] Speaker 1: and play five games. Now, the funny part is again,
[39:34] Speaker 1: he played in five games. They did not win these games.
[39:38] Speaker 1: He was on limited minutes. From what I remember too,
[39:40] Speaker 1: he was not playing thirty thirty five minutes. He was
[39:42] Speaker 1: playing like twenty minutes, like under I think in some
[39:44] Speaker 1: of those games. So it's not like he played and
[39:47] Speaker 1: they're like, oh crap, we're winning games. So Trey Young
[39:49] Speaker 1: out here. It wouldn't have mattered.
[39:51] Speaker 2: Probably, That's what.
[39:51] Speaker 1: I'm getting at. So it's I don't know.
[39:54] Speaker 3: This does feel like if they could prove it, the
[39:58] Speaker 3: Wizard should get a fine for this. This feels like
[40:00] Speaker 3: a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars fine to me. Sure,
[40:03] Speaker 3: for all of the drama we went through last season
[40:06] Speaker 3: and the changing of the lottery rules with regards to tanking,
[40:08] Speaker 3: for a team to literally be like, we'll give you
[40:10] Speaker 3: two hundred million dollars if you don't play so we
[40:11] Speaker 3: can get the number one draft pick. That's bad. That's
[40:14] Speaker 3: worth a fine. I think we should watch a year
[40:16] Speaker 3: long investigation.
[40:17] Speaker 1: Oh wow, I was thinking imagine this. You know Windhorse
[40:21] Speaker 1: said this last year during all the tanking talk. I'm like,
[40:24] Speaker 1: oh boy, there would this would this would get a
[40:27] Speaker 1: lot of headlines back then. I mean hell, we had
[40:29] Speaker 1: Yiannis basically doing this where the Bucks were saying, now,
[40:32] Speaker 1: I know they're thinking of trading them, but they're like,
[40:33] Speaker 1: don't come and play honest, and he's like, screw that.
[40:36] Speaker 1: I want to play. I want the league to investigate
[40:39] Speaker 1: why I can't play, why my own team is saying that.
[40:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny.
[40:42] Speaker 1: I don't really remember that now, but that was a thing.
[40:44] Speaker 2: It's a funny thing with Tree Young because good player,
[40:47] Speaker 2: but playing could mean more losses as well.
[40:51] Speaker 1: They lost all five.
[40:52] Speaker 2: Of and he had a bad record when he played
[40:55] Speaker 2: with the Atlanta Hawks this year.
[40:56] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[40:57] Speaker 2: Right, So that's the funny bright and it never you're
[41:00] Speaker 2: never guaranteed to get the first pick, even if you
[41:02] Speaker 2: lose in the game. Yeah. And now we're under a
[41:08] Speaker 2: month away from when Anthony Davis could get an extension.
[41:11] Speaker 2: It's August sixth his extension possibility. And you can speculate
[41:16] Speaker 2: and say, hey, they gave Trey this big contract because
[41:18] Speaker 2: they want to give Anthony Davis a contract. And they said, Okay,
[41:23] Speaker 2: we give you a big contract that will entice the
[41:28] Speaker 2: the Anthony Davis people that maybe you should sign here too.
[41:31] Speaker 2: If that's the rate they're going This is such an
[41:33] Speaker 2: odd team, right with how old they're getting. How old
[41:37] Speaker 2: are you?
[41:38] Speaker 1: But they have so much young talent.
[41:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, they're on this two paths. It's intriguing. Anyway, about
[41:44] Speaker 2: four years, man, that's a long time anyway.
[41:46] Speaker 1: Next one here, Jonathan Kaminga has emerged as the Lakers'
[41:49] Speaker 1: top target to put the finishing touches on the revamped roster.
[41:54] Speaker 1: Mutual interest in getting a deal done. Apparently, according to
[41:57] Speaker 1: Brad Turner of the La Times, the Lakers want to
[41:59] Speaker 1: sign kaming to a two year, twenty million dollar contract.
[42:02] Speaker 1: Might have to be a sign in trade though with
[42:04] Speaker 1: the Hawks. Are you up er down pass on the
[42:06] Speaker 1: Lakers trying to acquire Jonathan Kaminga.
[42:09] Speaker 2: I'm done. I think they need another type of player.
[42:12] Speaker 2: They need some sort of perimeter defense and some size.
[42:17] Speaker 2: And we don't know what Jonathan Kmenica's future is going
[42:19] Speaker 2: to be here in the NBA. He played pretty well
[42:23] Speaker 2: to end his season with the Atlanta Hawks, that's for sure.
[42:26] Speaker 2: But if we're talking about the sign and trade, which
[42:29] Speaker 2: is going to be for way more money than the
[42:32] Speaker 2: Lakers can just give him under the cap because they
[42:36] Speaker 2: don't have a lot of room at all, it would
[42:39] Speaker 2: be for a lot more money, and you're really going
[42:42] Speaker 2: to look at a team that can just outscore teams. No,
[42:44] Speaker 2: jj Reddick did an incredible job last year getting this
[42:47] Speaker 2: team to play defense and buy in. But telling Jonathan
[42:51] Speaker 2: Comiera Cord in the New York Post, the report was
[42:54] Speaker 2: that he was told that he'd be a starting player.
[42:58] Speaker 2: You're you're getting into risky ground. I think there's just
[43:02] Speaker 2: better opportunities. Go try something cheaper like Matis stibles available. Oh,
[43:08] Speaker 2: Chaia Baji's available. Just a different type of guy now
[43:12] Speaker 2: with him. If you're talking about Kaminga along with Mammu
[43:16] Speaker 2: and Grimes, you're small, You're not an incredible perimeter defensive team.
[43:22] Speaker 2: I would say move on. Although you know potential with Kaminga,
[43:28] Speaker 2: of course, every single time that's the conversation, that's the
[43:30] Speaker 2: word you throw with Kaminga. But I think it's it's
[43:33] Speaker 2: risky Trey.
[43:34] Speaker 1: The reporting says Kaminga wants to be a Laker. The
[43:36] Speaker 1: Lakers want Kaminga, as I said. A source told the
[43:39] Speaker 1: Post that the Hawks are willing to execute a sign
[43:41] Speaker 1: and trade with the Lakers around the framework of Kaminga
[43:43] Speaker 1: going to LA and the Hawks receiving Jared Vanderbilt and
[43:46] Speaker 1: the Lakers twenty thirty two first round pick swamp, which
[43:50] Speaker 1: I think is basically like the only draft capital. Yes,
[43:52] Speaker 1: they would even have to dangle in a sign and
[43:55] Speaker 1: trade with Atlanta. What are your thoughts up or down?
[43:57] Speaker 3: I'm like sideways because I do think I think that
[44:00] Speaker 3: the Lakers need a big wing and they need athleticism.
[44:03] Speaker 3: Those are two things that certainly Kaminga brings for sure,
[44:06] Speaker 3: But what they really need from that big wing is
[44:08] Speaker 3: shooting and defense, which are not Cominga's strong points. But
[44:13] Speaker 3: you mentioned the other options like Thibel and Abagi are
[44:16] Speaker 3: on my list, but so are Zaier Williams and Bruce Brown.
[44:20] Speaker 3: Kaminga might be a better player than all four of
[44:22] Speaker 3: those guys. He's certainly more talented, yeah, than all four
[44:24] Speaker 3: of those guys. I think the cost is kind of low,
[44:27] Speaker 3: Like the Lakers are in for a penny, so they
[44:29] Speaker 3: should be in for a pound. They spent so much
[44:32] Speaker 3: on Walker Kessler, on Austin Reeves, on signing all of
[44:35] Speaker 3: their guys, throwing in a twenty thirty two swap, that's
[44:38] Speaker 3: kind of nothing compared to what they've already done. So
[44:41] Speaker 3: it's like, you know, playing poker. You're you're paying up
[44:44] Speaker 3: for your flush draw through four cards, you gotta pay
[44:47] Speaker 3: to see the fifth. So maybe they should do it.
[44:50] Speaker 3: There's just not a perfect fit out there for the
[44:52] Speaker 3: Lakers right now, because surely if Kaminga makes his way there,
[44:56] Speaker 3: JJ Reddick will be like, he just needs to be
[44:58] Speaker 3: our Shawn Marion. Yeah, and guess what, Sean Marion is
[45:01] Speaker 3: the perfect fit for this Lakers team. I'm talking prime
[45:03] Speaker 3: Sean Marion.
[45:04] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[45:04] Speaker 3: Sure, he guards up, he guards down, he rebounds, he
[45:07] Speaker 3: runs the court, he makes threes. Would have been the
[45:10] Speaker 3: perfect guy. But he played like ten years ago. Yeah, yeah,
[45:13] Speaker 3: so he's more like a warrior actually.
[45:17] Speaker 2: Fair enough. Anyway, in theory, trying to Thinkamega could dream
[45:21] Speaker 2: about being sewn Marion. Well, it happened, ever, I mean
[45:25] Speaker 2: JJ wreck again. He did a really good job of
[45:28] Speaker 2: getting stuff out of guys, So maybe it could happen.
[45:32] Speaker 1: I don't have it in the rundown here because it
[45:34] Speaker 1: happened right before we got into the Classic Factory. But
[45:37] Speaker 1: Jake Fisher, the People's Insider from the Steinlein, was talking
[45:41] Speaker 1: about the Atlanta Hawks possibly be interested being interested still
[45:44] Speaker 1: in Peyton Watson in a sign and trade with Denver
[45:49] Speaker 1: that they have their eyes maybe on him still, which
[45:52] Speaker 1: I think would be a great addition to the Atlanta Hawks,
[45:55] Speaker 1: and a player like that it could really slot in nicely.
[45:57] Speaker 1: I assume Receschet would be a guy going out and
[46:00] Speaker 1: then draft capital, which you know they have some of
[46:04] Speaker 1: something to watch. I like that move, I tweeted, I
[46:07] Speaker 1: think Tim Bontemps should advice advice on that. I like
[46:12] Speaker 1: the concept. I don't think it'll happen, but apparently they're
[46:14] Speaker 1: still in the running, are still interested at the very least.
[46:17] Speaker 2: The Nuggets, I assume want to keep Payton watch.
[46:20] Speaker 1: I think I would hope. So all right, next one, here,
[46:22] Speaker 1: a new group is pursuing an NBA team in Las Vegas,
[46:25] Speaker 1: the Las Vegas Jacks, led by Hall of Famer Jerry
[46:29] Speaker 1: Colangelo and former NBA coach Vinie Del Negro. There's a name,
[46:33] Speaker 1: I hadn't seen it a while, delgro Baby. So they
[46:37] Speaker 1: claim eight billion in total capital and promise to build
[46:42] Speaker 1: the most impressive, state of the art basketball arena in
[46:45] Speaker 1: the world. And here for everybody on YouTube is sort
[46:48] Speaker 1: of the logo or the the look attached to this
[46:53] Speaker 1: concept to the Las Vegas Jacks and this possibility of
[46:57] Speaker 1: an NBA expansion, so up or down on the name,
[47:00] Speaker 1: and you know the look obviously going with the playing
[47:02] Speaker 1: card Las Vegas Jack's tray.
[47:05] Speaker 3: I hate the look. I can't imagine this is real.
[47:10] Speaker 3: I know, this feels like somebody's slapped this one up
[47:12] Speaker 3: on AI to me. But the name is real. This
[47:15] Speaker 3: is the name that the Colangelo Vinnie del Negro group
[47:18] Speaker 3: is going with. That was a shock to me. I
[47:20] Speaker 3: didn't know Vinie del Negro had it like that. I
[47:22] Speaker 3: made like seventeen million in his career, but he's the
[47:24] Speaker 3: number two guy on the list here. That's crazy to me.
[47:26] Speaker 3: Maybe he's done awesome after playing. I don't know. If
[47:29] Speaker 3: you're looking at cards, Jacks is the highest available that's
[47:33] Speaker 3: out there. Cases gone, King's gone, Queen's They're not going
[47:37] Speaker 3: to do it. Jacks is all that left.
[47:39] Speaker 1: I think Queen's Queen's are not gonna do it. I
[47:42] Speaker 1: also was just assigned to a women's professional baseball team.
[47:47] Speaker 3: Well see now you can't double, now you can't. No, yeah,
[47:49] Speaker 3: so Jax, I guess it is technically the best available
[47:52] Speaker 3: card left test.
[47:53] Speaker 2: But it ain't gonna happen. Noah, think about the broadcasters.
[47:57] Speaker 2: Jack's off to a great start. You don't want to
[48:02] Speaker 2: do that.
[48:03] Speaker 1: It's pretty fun.
[48:05] Speaker 2: There's better names.
[48:05] Speaker 3: They gotta get smooth Peterson if the Jacks are gonna
[48:08] Speaker 3: be off, Okay, better names.
[48:12] Speaker 2: Even the Sharks is better. If you want the poker
[48:15] Speaker 2: tie in, Oh, inferno because it's hot, in Vegas, fire
[48:22] Speaker 2: because it's hot.
[48:23] Speaker 1: When we did our fun expansion Vault, we went with
[48:25] Speaker 1: Las Vegas Venom. I think we just went with Las Vegas.
[48:28] Speaker 2: Vault is better. I've decided. Yeah, it's a great arena name.
[48:33] Speaker 2: I mean, it's the Vault.
[48:36] Speaker 1: For the team.
[48:37] Speaker 2: The Vault is kind of odd. You know, you want
[48:40] Speaker 2: a team with no s. I don't know the Vaults.
[48:45] Speaker 2: That's too weird. Either way, it's happening. The team is happening.
[48:50] Speaker 2: There another arena. They need another arena, although they're starting,
[48:54] Speaker 2: according to the press report, in the Team Obile arena,
[48:56] Speaker 2: which is already existing and looks like an.
[49:00] Speaker 3: Totally total a yeah, totally fine arena. But the owner
[49:05] Speaker 3: of the aces is also has their own bid and
[49:08] Speaker 3: they're like, we're gonna make the arena better. Yeah, going forward,
[49:11] Speaker 3: Whereas the Jacks plan is playing Team Mobile for a year.
[49:15] Speaker 3: Raise up to thirteen billion dollars and build our own
[49:18] Speaker 3: stadium in Las Vegas. So the fact that the other
[49:22] Speaker 3: group already has a stadium means me think that they're
[49:25] Speaker 3: probably ahead, But I don't know. I do think that
[49:29] Speaker 3: this announcement was timed with Summer League launching though. Yeah,
[49:31] Speaker 3: every guys in Las Vegas, let's talk about Vegas.
[49:34] Speaker 2: I know Vinnie del Negro is the second name listed,
[49:37] Speaker 2: but I don't think he has much as much money
[49:39] Speaker 2: as David Levy. Yeah, he's just he's just thrown in
[49:44] Speaker 2: their second. Also, Scott Colangelo thrown in there. Also Jay
[49:48] Speaker 2: Williams former Oh yeah, the former player also thrown in there.
[49:52] Speaker 2: They're throwing in a lot of names here. Oh yeah,
[49:54] Speaker 2: I got them all. I think I listed them all.
[49:56] Speaker 3: CEO Jonathan Thomas, I saw was also.
[49:58] Speaker 1: Part of the Great Thomas from Uh.
[50:04] Speaker 3: He's actually the one that's going to be in charge
[50:05] Speaker 3: of building the stadium. Sweet Al?
[50:14] Speaker 2: Was that Al?
[50:15] Speaker 1: And I'm like, hold on, that's married with children. We
[50:16] Speaker 1: had two owls, two famous als. Yeah, Owl's are on
[50:20] Speaker 1: top of the world.
[50:20] Speaker 2: Back then, I didn't recognize the name Jonathan Thomas because
[50:24] Speaker 2: it's he's a three named guys yeah, Jonathan Taylor.
[50:27] Speaker 1: No one's ever called him just Jonathan Thomas.
[50:29] Speaker 2: But all right, next one here.
[50:34] Speaker 1: After officially signing with the Miami Heat on Monday, questions
[50:37] Speaker 1: arose about what number Tim Hardaway Junior would wear. We
[50:40] Speaker 1: talked about it. He's rock number ten several times at
[50:43] Speaker 1: previous stops Atlanta, Dallas, Dember, but that number was up
[50:46] Speaker 1: in the rafters in Miami thanks to his dad, Hall
[50:48] Speaker 1: of Famer Tim Hardaway Senior. Well, he did get pop's
[50:53] Speaker 1: blessings after all to wear number ten. And here's the photo.
[50:57] Speaker 1: It's official. I think even Parrelly Joe about it, of
[51:01] Speaker 1: handing over the number ten Hardaway. There, Hardaway Junior too young, Tim,
[51:06] Speaker 1: So it's like this went back and forth for weeks,
[51:10] Speaker 1: it felt like. But in the NTK, are you up
[51:12] Speaker 1: or down on Tim Hardaway Junior wearing his father's retired
[51:15] Speaker 1: number ten?
[51:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, this is good. I mean Tim Hardaway Junior has
[51:18] Speaker 3: won ten in three other places. The times he didn't
[51:20] Speaker 3: wear it was because it was retired for whoever. I
[51:23] Speaker 3: like what he said when they were talking about the
[51:25] Speaker 3: jersey said, I think the first go around was a
[51:27] Speaker 3: personal decision. The second go around was a family decision.
[51:30] Speaker 1: I'm gonna leave it at that.
[51:31] Speaker 3: He said, Yeah, the Tim's wear the jerseys and the
[51:36] Speaker 3: mom wears the pants is what it seems like to me.
[51:39] Speaker 3: And then pat Riley hooked up Tim Hardaway Junior with
[51:41] Speaker 3: Tim Hardaway Senior's old locker, so everybody wanted this to happen.
[51:44] Speaker 2: There we go.
[51:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, and Tim Hardaway Senior originally said the concept of
[51:49] Speaker 1: like that number ten is not coming down from the rafters,
[51:52] Speaker 1: even it's for my son. In twenty twenty four, I
[51:55] Speaker 1: think that's where it first started. I think he was
[51:57] Speaker 1: talking to Haslo and Mike Miller on what's the name
[52:00] Speaker 1: of that podcast start has them? Yeah, is that still
[52:05] Speaker 1: an active I don't know. It was called The OG's Show.
[52:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, geez I forgot Yeah.
[52:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, anyway, Mike Miller, Oh no, yeah, I would have
[52:17] Speaker 1: known that.
[52:18] Speaker 2: I would have got there.
[52:19] Speaker 1: You know a lot about playing.
[52:23] Speaker 2: You mentioned pants and who wears the pants. What Tim
[52:26] Speaker 2: Hardaway should get done is somebody to iron his pants.
[52:29] Speaker 2: There's a big wrinkle in those pants. I mean, this
[52:32] Speaker 2: is your uh maybe it's the low camera shot there,
[52:35] Speaker 2: but it could be better. You know, there's a wrinkle there.
[52:39] Speaker 2: Let's work on that. Increase. But he had his best
[52:41] Speaker 2: season last year wearing number ten. Just let him keep
[52:45] Speaker 2: wearing it. That was year thirteen. This guy's been in
[52:48] Speaker 2: the LEA for thirteen years and he's I think he's peaked.
[52:52] Speaker 2: This is this is I mean not in a bad way,
[52:55] Speaker 2: but he has peaked in year number thirteen, so I
[52:57] Speaker 2: think this is this is great for him. The Nuggets
[52:59] Speaker 2: question is interesting. He left the Nuggets. The bench was great.
[53:02] Speaker 2: Leonna Salchun is also not going back to the Nuggets bench.
[53:05] Speaker 2: They were really good when Jokic went to the bench
[53:09] Speaker 2: last year, which is weird because we all think, oh,
[53:12] Speaker 2: the non Jokic minutes, they stink. They're only outscored by
[53:16] Speaker 2: two point nine points per hundred possessions with Jokic off
[53:18] Speaker 2: the court last season and outscored, that means they're bad.
[53:21] Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter with Jokic and Jokic in previous seasons.
[53:25] Speaker 2: They're getting destroyed. Tim Hardawaves was improved.
[53:28] Speaker 1: It was great, It was improved.
[53:29] Speaker 2: He was that's going to be an interre. You mentioned
[53:31] Speaker 2: Peyton Watson maybe bouncing around the league. Who was who
[53:35] Speaker 2: helped out that team? This is an odd season, but
[53:40] Speaker 2: or odd offseason I should say for the Nuggets. But hey,
[53:43] Speaker 2: great for Tim. Good for you Tim, Good for Tim.
[53:47] Speaker 1: Uh, he will be wearing number ten. Looks good, looks good.
[53:49] Speaker 1: I like how it looks on the jersey. All right,
[53:52] Speaker 1: we'll call it there with the updown report. We're actually
[53:54] Speaker 1: going to have a bonus up down question on substack
[53:59] Speaker 1: soon after this.
[54:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be. It's gonna be involved in these
[54:03] Speaker 2: pop tarts because somebody brought it up the other day.
[54:06] Speaker 2: We started talking about pop tarts. We had somebody email
[54:09] Speaker 2: in and say, hey, my fiance says that the strawberry
[54:13] Speaker 2: pop tarts are better without the frosting. Big discussion here,
[54:17] Speaker 2: and then Skeet's mentioned he had never had a pop
[54:19] Speaker 2: tart never, Well, you're gonna have one now. It's the
[54:23] Speaker 2: official snack of US soccer. You're gonna be way fitter
[54:27] Speaker 2: after having But we got you. We got your regular
[54:30] Speaker 2: strawberry with frosting, oat course.
[54:33] Speaker 1: So we'll do a little taste test for the first
[54:34] Speaker 1: time ever on substack. Linca's in the show notes. Go
[54:37] Speaker 1: join us over there, bonus up down all right, before
[54:42] Speaker 1: we go rapid fire questions, JD, you got the cues,
[54:45] Speaker 1: we got the answers.
[54:47] Speaker 5: Yes, I have the questions, I have the volume, I
[54:51] Speaker 5: have the music.
[54:52] Speaker 2: Blah blah blah.
[54:53] Speaker 5: Guys, John Elmore, this guy is the oldest player at
[54:59] Speaker 5: Summer this year, which depressingly means he's thirty years old. Guys,
[55:04] Speaker 5: he's been bouncing around playing basketball all over the world
[55:07] Speaker 5: for the last seven years. Each your heart out, Lee Ellis.
[55:11] Speaker 5: And before that, he played at Marshall from twenty fifteen
[55:14] Speaker 5: to twenty nineteen and left campus a legend. Guys, what's
[55:20] Speaker 5: something you could get into at the absolute last second
[55:24] Speaker 5: and somehow convince everyone that you still belong skeets.
[55:28] Speaker 1: A tour guide? Okay, guide, Yeah, it doesn't matter really
[55:33] Speaker 1: for what I think I could fake it. Just read
[55:35] Speaker 1: the signs sort of. Yeah, just walk around with confidence,
[55:38] Speaker 1: talk with confidence.
[55:39] Speaker 3: Here's a building.
[55:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, I like people. I can talk out my ass
[55:43] Speaker 1: for it for a little bit. Yeah, So I think
[55:46] Speaker 1: I could just pull it off, he said, step in
[55:47] Speaker 1: last second. If a tour guide suddenly came down with
[55:50] Speaker 1: the flu, like we need somebody, It's like people yelling
[55:53] Speaker 1: he's anybody a doctor here? Does anybody on a tour guy? Here?
[55:57] Speaker 1: I put my hand off either gout one they're like, yeah, sure,
[56:00] Speaker 1: what are we doing?
[56:00] Speaker 3: Give me a map?
[56:01] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[56:02] Speaker 1: Oh I'm a good map reader. Actually directional I'm very
[56:05] Speaker 1: good at is a good skill of mine.
[56:07] Speaker 2: So tour, what would be the tour guy that you wanted?
[56:13] Speaker 1: Like, I see a city tour like you know, on
[56:15] Speaker 1: a bus. No, I would. I think I'd be better walking.
[56:18] Speaker 1: I'm a good walker.
[56:21] Speaker 4: One would be able to keep.
[56:22] Speaker 1: I'd be gone. People would be on like the second,
[56:26] Speaker 1: you know, attraction would be already be done.
[56:29] Speaker 3: That's a fast tour.
[56:30] Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly is there like do you know of like
[56:34] Speaker 5: is there I mean Stratford, Ontario? I guess you could
[56:36] Speaker 5: probably give a tour of like, but is there somewhere
[56:40] Speaker 5: that you can actually actually have facts?
[56:44] Speaker 4: And oh?
[56:45] Speaker 1: I guess I would have the best chance of Well,
[56:49] Speaker 1: but like, I mean you put me in Vegas. There's
[56:53] Speaker 1: enough things that I could tell you about, enough personal story.
[56:57] Speaker 3: That a little flavor tour, you know, photos in there? Yeah, exactly.
[57:01] Speaker 3: That's pen and Teller. Are they a magic show or
[57:04] Speaker 3: our comedy show? They don't know.
[57:07] Speaker 1: We got kicked out of a Penn and Teller show.
[57:09] Speaker 1: He was heckling them. You're not supposed to do that
[57:11] Speaker 1: at a magic show. Uh yeah, no, I feel confident,
[57:14] Speaker 1: a lot of fun. I'm thinking I'm not Yeah, just
[57:16] Speaker 1: to pull it off for one day? Sure, Because also
[57:19] Speaker 1: people like you gotta remember they got no fucking idea.
[57:22] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[57:23] Speaker 1: Their reason they're on the tour is they have no clue.
[57:26] Speaker 1: So I can just make things up and they're like, wow,
[57:28] Speaker 1: that's amazing.
[57:30] Speaker 2: What happens if the mic sucks? Because that happens with
[57:32] Speaker 2: tour Sometimes they get a mic and you just don't
[57:36] Speaker 2: want to listen to them?
[57:38] Speaker 1: Would do it? Mic Liss?
[57:40] Speaker 2: Good for you.
[57:40] Speaker 1: I can project, and you know I can command. I
[57:43] Speaker 1: think ten to twelve people, whatever the group is. Yeah, yeah,
[57:48] Speaker 1: so yeah gather around good one.
[57:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, can I swear on this tour?
[57:54] Speaker 1: Do any of these little fuckers come out all jiz
[57:57] Speaker 1: all over the place?
[57:59] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[57:59] Speaker 5: After tassy, what's something you can still get into at
[58:03] Speaker 5: the last possible.
[58:05] Speaker 4: Second and convince people who still belong.
[58:07] Speaker 2: Here's a weird answer. I could be a Spanish speaking
[58:10] Speaker 2: sports interviewer. Wow, wow, ye Espanol. Me favorita idioma s Espanol.
[58:22] Speaker 2: Because this was inspired by one of our fans said, hey,
[58:26] Speaker 2: you look like the Mexican JJ Redick and so I
[58:30] Speaker 2: could easily fit in to you know those Uh, there's
[58:33] Speaker 2: Instagram videos of guys who go around speaking to Spanish people.
[58:39] Speaker 2: English not their first language, so they've got an accent.
[58:42] Speaker 2: They read a sports team. He goes, what does the
[58:45] Speaker 2: sports team say, essentially, and they would say merely woke
[58:50] Speaker 2: books and then the split spring comes up of several
[58:54] Speaker 2: books and everybody laughs. He said books, not box.
[58:59] Speaker 1: So that's they're hilarious. Love your algorithm.
[59:06] Speaker 2: They are funny. Every single sports team. He won't put
[59:09] Speaker 2: it up unless somebody says something that's easy to throw
[59:13] Speaker 2: up in a split screen that looks dumb. I'm trying
[59:17] Speaker 2: to think of another one. I guess. I guess I
[59:19] Speaker 2: don't love it enough. I haven't seen it a long time.
[59:22] Speaker 3: Do you in your algorithm? Do you have the guy
[59:25] Speaker 3: who is constantly rolling burritos and also at the same
[59:29] Speaker 3: time teaching you different like idioms in Spanish don't say no,
[59:34] Speaker 3: say this, this, this, this, this. I love that, and
[59:37] Speaker 3: he's got nice roles.
[59:38] Speaker 1: No, yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.
[59:41] Speaker 3: That one's served up to me quite a bit.
[59:42] Speaker 2: So it has nothing to do what he's saying, has
[59:44] Speaker 2: nothing to do with it.
[59:46] Speaker 3: Don't say I'm doing okay, say yeah, I'm chilling.
[59:52] Speaker 1: Like slang yeah yeah, slang exactly.
[59:56] Speaker 2: No, it's only Greek in my my my idio algorithm.
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: But I think I guess they have that for every language, essentially,
[1:00:06] Speaker 2: like what you should say.
[1:00:07] Speaker 3: Frequent guys folding up an that's how everyone a hot
[1:00:15] Speaker 3: dog and a bunch sliding on down.
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: Don't say cool, say wicked.
[1:00:20] Speaker 3: I'll starting that as tray.
[1:00:25] Speaker 4: What's something you can get into in the last possible say.
[1:00:28] Speaker 3: If a J Hawk's ever sick, I could fill in,
[1:00:30] Speaker 3: no problem. If you're here watch.
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: For the podcast listener trade just not in the way,
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: just like a J Hawk style and he's on the back. Yes, spot,
[1:00:45] Speaker 1: I think you were actually reacting a lot more than
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: he barely moves his head.
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: Man all right.
[1:00:56] Speaker 5: Next one we learned this week Washington Wizard's rookie I
[1:01:00] Speaker 5: had the pride of Kitchener. He can't say Kitchener's finest.
[1:01:02] Speaker 5: I guess because they now have one of those. Will
[1:01:05] Speaker 5: Riley had a little pandemic side hustle cutting hair twenty
[1:01:09] Speaker 5: dollars cuts five bucks. If you just want to line
[1:01:12] Speaker 5: up guys, what's a tiny cottage industry. You could start
[1:01:16] Speaker 5: today if you absolutely had two skeets.
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: A fairly new development, a little side hustle I could do.
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: I think I'd be good at pest control.
[1:01:26] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: I've been dealing with some outdoor ants, not indoor. Keep
[1:01:30] Speaker 1: them out, yeah, but a little too much around the porch.
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: I really get invested in tracking them. I like to
[1:01:39] Speaker 1: see what they're doing.
[1:01:40] Speaker 4: Where are they going?
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, home exactly basically, I mean, yeah, where's your
[1:01:44] Speaker 1: hill at that? I want to know where home is
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: so we can take it out. So, you know, I
[1:01:48] Speaker 1: think I've learned a lot over the last a couple
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: of weeks, and I've taken down taken down metropolitans. Also, yeah,
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: have me over it all.
[1:02:00] Speaker 5: Yeah wow, Yeah, you're pretty good at like just like
[1:02:03] Speaker 5: single handedly taking out bugs as well.
[1:02:06] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, right, if you fly, just have me over
[1:02:08] Speaker 1: and now I'll get it. But I've yeah, I've now
[1:02:12] Speaker 1: gotten into ants. Yeah.
[1:02:16] Speaker 3: I saw uh an infomercial last night for something called
[1:02:20] Speaker 3: the bug assault gun. It's like bug dash a dash
[1:02:24] Speaker 3: S a l T. Because it's a gun that you
[1:02:26] Speaker 3: pumped full assault and shoot it at the crap and
[1:02:30] Speaker 3: it's like interesting, the power of the salt rifle kills
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: the bugs. That was crazy to me, but I was like,
[1:02:37] Speaker 3: I would order that.
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: I'm just using a lot of traps that you know,
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: these dumb workers are going to take back to the
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: to the Queen, to the to the hive and kill everybody.
[1:02:48] Speaker 1: And every time I drop one down, I'm like, holy crap,
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: have no idea, you stupid it. Like they're pumped right there,
[1:02:55] Speaker 1: come flock into this stuff, and they must be like
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: shuck put baby, like this stuff must taste awesome. They're
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: rushing back who get it back there first? Little do
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: they know it's gonna take out the whole entire population.
[1:03:08] Speaker 2: Man, do you do the underground houses, homes, metropolitans because apparently, yeah,
[1:03:15] Speaker 2: they can get deep deep in there. Yeah, because we've
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: had a bunch of we've had the issue. Bugs are
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: coming out from anywhere, but there's no visible Ah yeah
[1:03:24] Speaker 2: yeah mountain.
[1:03:25] Speaker 1: I think they're under the porch and stuff like that.
[1:03:28] Speaker 1: Like I'm not I'm not ripping up boards to go
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: get them. Because this stuff works. It's incredible. It's like
[1:03:33] Speaker 1: give it a day and then you're like that trail
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: of ants that you saw, they're gone.
[1:03:37] Speaker 2: Man.
[1:03:38] Speaker 1: Wow, I'm like Santos, I'm like my fingers, take it out, civilizations.
[1:03:46] Speaker 4: It's cold.
[1:03:47] Speaker 1: I know it's cold, man, but I don't want You're
[1:03:49] Speaker 1: getting too close, guys, Yeah, too close to the house.
[1:03:52] Speaker 4: Encroaching. You're encroaching.
[1:03:53] Speaker 1: Now you out in the yard, you do you. I
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: got no problem with it. I don't go searching for you.
[1:03:58] Speaker 1: But you're just getting closer to my fortune.
[1:04:02] Speaker 4: A tiny cottage industry you can start today if you have.
[1:04:06] Speaker 2: Actually will Will Riley doing his haircuts, that's also part
[1:04:08] Speaker 2: of my algorithm. Like young people doing haircuts. Interesting, Yeah,
[1:04:14] Speaker 2: people are doing.
[1:04:14] Speaker 3: It transformative, is it? Well? I mean you see something
[1:04:18] Speaker 3: that come in with a big old mob head of hair.
[1:04:21] Speaker 3: They got a sweet fade.
[1:04:22] Speaker 2: You're like, wow, cool cool.
[1:04:24] Speaker 3: I've been algorithm by.
[1:04:25] Speaker 2: That as well.
[1:04:26] Speaker 1: Our buddy, our buddy Ken did this for a lot
[1:04:28] Speaker 1: in high school. Yeah, I got my haircut. I can
[1:04:30] Speaker 1: for years in his little, uh little side bathroom there.
[1:04:36] Speaker 1: He was making some money by the end of it,
[1:04:38] Speaker 1: big clientele, not stop people coming in.
[1:04:41] Speaker 2: That was incredible, going to start his own algorithm. He
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: also is eating seven thousand calories a day. I read
[1:04:46] Speaker 2: that separately. Has nothing to do with haircuts. But he's
[1:04:48] Speaker 2: trying to trying to bulke up seven thousand calories. That's
[1:04:51] Speaker 2: a lot.
[1:04:52] Speaker 3: That's skinny, sky skinny. Yeah, to put it on.
[1:04:57] Speaker 1: I thought he did look a little bigger last night.
[1:04:59] Speaker 4: Yeah, So what's your industry? Cuts?
[1:05:02] Speaker 2: Garden edging, like framing it, you know with those either
[1:05:07] Speaker 2: a plastic or metal framing.
[1:05:09] Speaker 1: You've been doing something.
[1:05:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty easy you either either just can go
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: jammer don't need anything like.
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: No, you don't hammer soft hammer.
[1:05:18] Speaker 3: It's a Jammer hammer.
[1:05:20] Speaker 2: Gammer hammer. It's a great business name.
[1:05:22] Speaker 1: You're allowed to do that.
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: And there's no way, no way you're allowed to do that.
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: You're gonna get You're incorrect, You're incorrect, JD. You think
[1:05:33] Speaker 2: that we can't have what was your first rule? No,
[1:05:38] Speaker 2: absolutely not allowed clothes lines. I guess that's questionable.
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: That one's more of a you could argue as dumb
[1:05:45] Speaker 1: as it is. People be like that's an iore, Yeah.
[1:05:47] Speaker 4: Of course.
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:05:48] Speaker 2: But this man I'm putting up, I'm putting up so
[1:05:51] Speaker 2: much weird stuff I've got. I've got a huge what
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: I call a baseball net behind my my house. It's
[1:05:58] Speaker 2: not really a baseball net, just like it's like a
[1:06:01] Speaker 2: soccer net.
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, fifteen.
[1:06:04] Speaker 2: I'm sure it's an icehore to some people. I going
[1:06:06] Speaker 2: to start putting up a playground for my kids. A
[1:06:09] Speaker 2: boy that it is risky doing it. No, I don't.
[1:06:13] Speaker 2: I don't want one of those. I don't want to playground.
[1:06:17] Speaker 5: I want you to do it just to yeah, just
[1:06:19] Speaker 5: to see.
[1:06:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's been some problems.
[1:06:23] Speaker 4: There has been some problems in my neighborhood.
[1:06:25] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, literally h o a calling back saying hey
[1:06:29] Speaker 2: hey hey you you literally as calling back. I mean
[1:06:32] Speaker 2: you literally have to undo what you did, undo a
[1:06:36] Speaker 2: deck or something like that. That's crazy.
[1:06:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, like you did
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: your you redid your deck at one point, Like did
[1:06:45] Speaker 1: you have to got okay and everything?
[1:06:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't did I know? Did I No? I
[1:06:54] Speaker 2: don't think I did. I wouldn't do that. I take
[1:06:56] Speaker 2: it back.
[1:06:56] Speaker 1: I couldn't see you doing that.
[1:06:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, because the rule, the rule for the the the
[1:07:02] Speaker 2: person who had to undo their their deck was that
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: it was a you know that, there's a term for it.
[1:07:09] Speaker 2: Essentially it's a water stopper, like it essentially doesn't allow
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: for water to penetrate to.
[1:07:15] Speaker 1: Go through it.
[1:07:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's that's insane. There's gaps, and so I
[1:07:21] Speaker 2: think that's why I said, that's fine, you can put
[1:07:24] Speaker 2: up some some two by fours or whatever. Mine was wood.
[1:07:27] Speaker 2: Theirs was more of that the plastic, uh you know
[1:07:32] Speaker 2: those upgraded plastics or upcycled plastic type of stuff that's
[1:07:38] Speaker 2: still blowney. They're still there are still gaps. But anyway,
[1:07:43] Speaker 2: they didn't take it down. They did full deck. Well, yeah, yeah,
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: you go get it taken up or taken down as well.
[1:07:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, did you see it? No?
[1:07:55] Speaker 2: I didn't, Yeah, no, I actually I did. I fluid drone.
[1:07:59] Speaker 3: It was to.
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: Measuring the gaps between the board.
[1:08:07] Speaker 3: That's thinking of water.
[1:08:08] Speaker 2: Are you going to drink water? Penetration trey.
[1:08:11] Speaker 5: What's a tiny cottage industry you could start today if
[1:08:14] Speaker 5: you absolutely had to.
[1:08:15] Speaker 3: Our pool doesn't have a concession stand. But I think
[1:08:18] Speaker 3: I could run like a solid case of da shop
[1:08:21] Speaker 3: out of like one of the back.
[1:08:23] Speaker 1: Rooms teaching slang.
[1:08:24] Speaker 2: Wi.
[1:08:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good idea. Actually, I think case is
[1:08:29] Speaker 3: the way to go. Like you see him, you'll see
[1:08:30] Speaker 3: him at like a street festival or whatever. A guy
[1:08:33] Speaker 3: with the blackstone just whipping out case a das non stuff.
[1:08:36] Speaker 3: It looked good to me. Yeah, yeah, I think I
[1:08:39] Speaker 3: could do that.
[1:08:39] Speaker 2: You're keeping it simple, keeping it.
[1:08:43] Speaker 3: Same, same the poolboards talking about maybe putting one in
[1:08:46] Speaker 3: the next year. So I got a lot of recipe
[1:08:48] Speaker 3: testing to get different Jesus, different cheeses, different proteins, obviously
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: different tortillas. I mean you're talking about all the components.
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: Oh, I thought it was just a cheese. But if
[1:09:01] Speaker 2: you're throwing in protein.
[1:09:03] Speaker 3: I mean premium offering.
[1:09:06] Speaker 5: It's a perfect place to shoot your American slang right
[1:09:09] Speaker 5: in case it is.
[1:09:12] Speaker 3: Jump call it a cannon ball, call it a c ball.
[1:09:17] Speaker 1: Cue balls, you can call them cue balls?
[1:09:20] Speaker 3: Sure, why not?
[1:09:23] Speaker 2: Sound could be implying cocaine though, you know.
[1:09:28] Speaker 1: That type of c I want was to gi the
[1:09:31] Speaker 1: letter C A good point.
[1:09:32] Speaker 5: Billiards too, all right, last one, guys. Tyrese Haliburton jumped
[1:09:36] Speaker 5: on Next this week and asked what's you'll favorite movie
[1:09:40] Speaker 5: sequel of all time?
[1:09:42] Speaker 4: His picks down of the Planet of the Apes and.
[1:09:45] Speaker 5: Sister Acts Too Many immediately followed up I'm sorry, go ahead,
[1:09:52] Speaker 5: and he immediately followed it up with forgot the Dark
[1:09:55] Speaker 5: Knight is a sequel? Shaking my head has to be
[1:09:58] Speaker 5: on the list. Sorry, Tyree. See you said, Sister two
[1:10:02] Speaker 5: that bell cannot be unwrung. So, guys, what's your favorite
[1:10:06] Speaker 5: movie sequel of all time?
[1:10:07] Speaker 4: Skits?
[1:10:07] Speaker 1: I think there are three obvious answers here, much better
[1:10:10] Speaker 1: than I think the list that Terry Telibert was doing there,
[1:10:13] Speaker 1: The Godfather Part two, sure, Terminator two, Yes, and my
[1:10:18] Speaker 1: personal favorite and my answer, Back to the Future Part two.
[1:10:21] Speaker 3: Wow.
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: I love Back to the Future Part two.
[1:10:24] Speaker 5: Me too, but I kind of you need three with
[1:10:27] Speaker 5: it though, no, or just the middle chat.
[1:10:30] Speaker 1: I don't need three with it. I mean it's a trilogy,
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: so I will watch it and still enjoy it. But
[1:10:34] Speaker 1: I do love Back to the.
[1:10:35] Speaker 4: Future Part two.
[1:10:36] Speaker 1: That's great. It is great time travel story. Yeah, man,
[1:10:41] Speaker 1: But those are the to me, the three obvious ones.
[1:10:43] Speaker 2: There's a lot of other ones too, And if I
[1:10:45] Speaker 2: had your answer, if I knew your answer, I could
[1:10:47] Speaker 2: have putten up that I still as soon as you said,
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: I have that photo of you and the Dolorean. This
[1:10:52] Speaker 2: is way back.
[1:10:53] Speaker 1: You have a photo of me and a door.
[1:10:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like a DeLorean from Toronto.
[1:10:58] Speaker 1: Oh wow, hey send me that pick it probably is.
[1:11:02] Speaker 1: I assume it is. I guess sometimes you see them
[1:11:06] Speaker 1: around late night photos. It's super dark wow anyway from Toronto.
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, I still have it. I I'm a hoarder. Uh,
[1:11:22] Speaker 2: I don't think. I swear. I didn't know. The second
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: part of this answer was The Batman Dark Knight. I
[1:11:33] Speaker 2: didn't I didn't even read that, but that was my answer.
[1:11:35] Speaker 2: It's The Dark Knight.
[1:11:36] Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, very good sequel, very good.
[1:11:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, that is that is the great one I once
[1:11:44] Speaker 2: stood out to me. That's my pick.
[1:11:46] Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, a lot of good sequels out there. You
[1:11:49] Speaker 3: guys have named a bunch of them. Like official answer,
[1:11:52] Speaker 3: I would probably say The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,
[1:11:54] Speaker 3: but I don't really think of it as a sequel.
[1:11:56] Speaker 3: But it's an awesome movie, and it is a part
[1:11:57] Speaker 3: of a trilogy. It's the third one. So instead I'll
[1:12:00] Speaker 3: pick National Treasure Book of Secrets, which I just watched
[1:12:04] Speaker 3: this week. My sister was like, are you gonna watch
[1:12:07] Speaker 3: an American movie for Fourth of July. I was like, yeah,
[1:12:08] Speaker 3: of course, Independence Day, so I watched it, but you
[1:12:11] Speaker 3: should also watch National Treasure. I was like, National Treasure
[1:12:14] Speaker 3: is so dumb, Like the climax of the original National
[1:12:17] Speaker 3: Treasure involves wearing Ben Franklin's five D glasses. It was
[1:12:24] Speaker 3: so dumb. I'm like, okay, I'll watch Book of Secrets.
[1:12:28] Speaker 3: Book of Secrets was pretty good, really, and it ended
[1:12:30] Speaker 3: on a cliff an hear that it was legitimately like,
[1:12:33] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna find that what's on page forty seven
[1:12:36] Speaker 3: of the Book of Secrets.
[1:12:38] Speaker 1: Wow?
[1:12:38] Speaker 5: Wow?
[1:12:39] Speaker 3: So I don't know what they're up to, but I
[1:12:41] Speaker 3: enjoyed it. I couldn't believe I enjoyed Book of Secrets,
[1:12:44] Speaker 3: National Treasure.
[1:12:46] Speaker 1: There's another one coming then if it ended what.
[1:12:50] Speaker 3: They did it, I think they did a series series. Yeah.
[1:12:53] Speaker 3: I don't know if they addressed page forty seven. But
[1:12:55] Speaker 3: Nick's not back now, And if Benjamin Gates isn't finding
[1:12:59] Speaker 3: the artifle, I'm not in because I wasn't actually really
[1:13:02] Speaker 3: in It's a Book of Secrets, but I had to
[1:13:04] Speaker 3: do it for my sister, and I was pleasantly surprised.
[1:13:06] Speaker 1: All right, treasure that is Nick ky?
[1:13:10] Speaker 5: Yeah?
[1:13:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeahkay, in both, he's in both.
[1:13:13] Speaker 3: He's in both.
[1:13:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, JD.
[1:13:15] Speaker 1: Do you have an answer to this with a movie?
[1:13:16] Speaker 4: Guys?
[1:13:17] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:13:19] Speaker 5: The Wrath of khn is probably my favorite sequel. Other
[1:13:21] Speaker 5: than I'm Para strikes back.
[1:13:23] Speaker 4: But Wrath of Cohn is so.
[1:13:26] Speaker 5: Far beyond Star Trek the motion picture, like it's just
[1:13:29] Speaker 5: a completely reinvents the whole thing, you.
[1:13:33] Speaker 4: Know what I mean.
[1:13:34] Speaker 1: So well, in doing a little research, I did see
[1:13:38] Speaker 1: Superman two was on some people's list.
[1:13:42] Speaker 4: That's crazy.
[1:13:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. I was a little shocked. I bring
[1:13:45] Speaker 1: that up because coming next week, next Friday, we are
[1:13:49] Speaker 1: going to be pitching our movie franchises for what we
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: might do this summer as part of our film franchise
[1:13:58] Speaker 1: Rewatch and Review. We've done Fast and Furious franchise, We've
[1:14:02] Speaker 1: done Jurassic Park, We're doing a new one. We're each
[1:14:05] Speaker 1: gonna come to the table with a different franchise and
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: uh and pitch it to each other and to you
[1:14:11] Speaker 1: because you're gonna be able to vote on it. So
[1:14:13] Speaker 1: Superman is involved, Yes, I said, podcast JD's pitching that one.
[1:14:17] Speaker 4: So they got gathering.
[1:14:19] Speaker 1: They they got way too many, way too many. So
[1:14:24] Speaker 1: that's that's next Friday. I'll be a lot of fun,
[1:14:25] Speaker 1: a little different obviously outside of the NBA content. Otherwise, though,
[1:14:29] Speaker 1: we're back on Monday, I guess gearing up for hopefully
[1:14:33] Speaker 1: the official Kawhi Leonard Trade. It's Tuesday, right, the Board
[1:14:37] Speaker 1: of Governor's meeting. Yeah, I'm sure we'll talk a little
[1:14:41] Speaker 1: bit more about Summer League, everything else happening in the NBA.
[1:14:43] Speaker 1: You're off though, for a vacation, a little time with them.
[1:14:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll miss a couple of shows next week.
[1:14:49] Speaker 1: Okay, all right, but we will be here Monday. Wednesday
[1:14:53] Speaker 1: is the plan. Friday is the movie franchise pitching podcast.

[1:15:15] Speaker 2: my series that I'll be pitching. Yeah, it's aim Yeah,
[1:15:23] Speaker 2: love me some Bruckheimer's apparently.
[1:15:25] Speaker 1: Brace the day, people,
