In this episode, we hear from Jay, a Colorado native and former U.S. Marine, whose life has been shaped by multiple encounters with something she cannot explain. Her experiences begin in the wide-open ranchlands of southern Colorado, where as a child she came face to face with a massive, shadow-black figure that moved with speed and purpose unlike any animal she had ever seen. Years later, during Marine combat training in North Carolina, that same presence returns. While standing guard in the middle of the night, Jay watches as a towering figure remains just beyond the fence line for hours—silent, unmoving, and fully aware. No sound. No movement. Just something standing in the darkness, observing. Then in 2019, during a hiking trip through Mesa Verde National Park, a growing sense of unease follows her every step. Nothing is seen in the moment, yet something feels off the entire time. It isn’t until years later, while reviewing photos from that day, that the full picture begins to emerge. Shapes appear where nothing should be. A figure peeks from behind a tree. Another stands across a canyon. One image suggests something even more unsettling—these things were far closer to the trail than anyone realized. These encounters span childhood, military service, and family life, unfolding across remote ranchland, active training grounds, and one of America’s most visited national parks. Each moment adds another layer to a story that refuses to fade. If you’ve ever wondered how close these encounters can get, this is one you need to hear. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? [0:00] Speaker 1: You're listening to Bigfoot Society and I'm Jeremiah Byron. In
[0:03] Speaker 1: this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring
[0:05] Speaker 1: you first hand encounters from people who say they've seen
[0:08] Speaker 1: something impossible. From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to
[0:12] Speaker 1: quiet farms and crowded highways. The stories come from everywhere,
[0:16] Speaker 1: and each one leaves us with more questions than answers.
[0:20] Speaker 1: These are the voices of the people who've lived it.
[0:24] Speaker 1: To settle in, because today you'll hear another account that
[0:27] Speaker 1: just might change the way you see the woods forever.
[0:30] Speaker 1: So stay with us. All right, Welcome back to Bigfoot Society.
[0:33] Speaker 1: We have another episode for you today. I'll be talking
[0:37] Speaker 1: to individual named Jay. Some information about Jay is native
[0:44] Speaker 1: of Colorado. Jay also served as the United States Marine
[0:48] Speaker 1: from the years two thousand and eight to twenty twelve.
[0:51] Speaker 1: Thank you for your service for that definitely in Jay,
[0:55] Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. How are you doing today, I'm
[0:58] Speaker 1: doing well. Thanks fantastic. This is going to be I
[1:05] Speaker 1: know a little bit about where we're going and it
[1:07] Speaker 1: is going to get really interesting, I think. But you know,
[1:11] Speaker 1: it is always always a fun interview when we're able
[1:15] Speaker 1: to talk to individuals that served in our military and
[1:22] Speaker 1: how they're able to come forward and to share encounters
[1:26] Speaker 1: that they had. So thank you so much for that.
[1:29] Speaker 1: Is there anything else that the listeners would need to
[1:31] Speaker 1: know about you before we get right into what you've experienced.
[1:35] Speaker 2: No, I think that pretty much covers it fantastic.
[1:38] Speaker 1: Well, Jay, I know that we have three different main
[1:41] Speaker 1: encounters that we'll be talking about today, So you'll feel
[1:44] Speaker 1: free to take us back to the one you would
[1:46] Speaker 1: like to start with, and I'll let you share that
[1:49] Speaker 1: and then we'll talk about it a little bit and
[1:51] Speaker 1: then we'll continue on down the line.
[1:54] Speaker 2: Okay, sounds good. So the first encounter happened in the
[1:59] Speaker 2: late nineteen nineties, around the age of twelve or so.
[2:06] Speaker 2: I lived mainly in the city areas of Colorado up north,
[2:12] Speaker 2: so I didn't really have a whole lot of time
[2:17] Speaker 2: during the year to go down and really be in
[2:20] Speaker 2: the wilderness. So whenever I could, I would go visit
[2:23] Speaker 2: my grandparents, and they lived out in the southern part
[2:26] Speaker 2: of the state in a kind of a really rural
[2:29] Speaker 2: area where they had a ranch, and on this ranch,
[2:35] Speaker 2: pretty much any wild animal you can think of and
[2:38] Speaker 2: associated with Colorado that's what we had down there, pignon
[2:43] Speaker 2: junipers and prairie grass plains and all sorts of different
[2:48] Speaker 2: cactus and brush and various different foliage, but nothing that
[2:53] Speaker 2: I would have struck me as habitat for a bigfoot.
[3:01] Speaker 2: So I spent a lot of my time during school
[3:03] Speaker 2: breaks and any kind of vacation time that we had
[3:07] Speaker 2: going down there and just kind of exploring the area.
[3:11] Speaker 2: There wasn't a whole lot else to do but to
[3:12] Speaker 2: go out and really just be in nature, and so
[3:17] Speaker 2: on one particular visit, I had been cruising around on
[3:21] Speaker 2: a four wheeler and had actually gone over to a
[3:26] Speaker 2: family's house to have dinner, and we had been there
[3:31] Speaker 2: for several hours, and so about the time that everyone
[3:34] Speaker 2: started to leave, I was a little bit behind everyone else.
[3:37] Speaker 2: It was later in the evening, around time thirty at night,
[3:42] Speaker 2: and couldn't have been better conditions. It was still not
[3:49] Speaker 2: too cold, not too warm, probably somewhere around May when
[3:53] Speaker 2: this all happened, and I hopped on the four wheeler
[3:58] Speaker 2: because I had to take it back to the shop
[4:00] Speaker 2: where it was supposed to be in Going from my
[4:06] Speaker 2: aunt and uncle's house down to the ranch house where
[4:09] Speaker 2: we had been staying, you have to go along a
[4:13] Speaker 2: pretty Kirby road. The initial part of it is very wooded,
[4:18] Speaker 2: has a lot of pinon junipers all lining the stretch
[4:22] Speaker 2: of road for about a mile, and then it really
[4:25] Speaker 2: opens up and you get into more of the pasture
[4:28] Speaker 2: area where you just have kind of speckles of the
[4:34] Speaker 2: different foliage and everything, but nothing too dense. And so
[4:40] Speaker 2: I had gotten past the really dense parts of that
[4:44] Speaker 2: road and everything was pretty visible. There was a full
[4:48] Speaker 2: moon out, and didn't see anything. Didn't no animals, no,
[4:54] Speaker 2: no weird feelings, no anything for this one particular stretch
[5:01] Speaker 2: of the road. But then when you go about another
[5:05] Speaker 2: mile or so, I came to a point where I
[5:11] Speaker 2: had this overwhelming feeling like something was wishing death upon me,
[5:18] Speaker 2: like I had absolute dread, absolute fear, could not think straight,
[5:27] Speaker 2: was almost in a panic, looking every direction, trying to
[5:30] Speaker 2: figure out what it was that I was suddenly experiencing
[5:35] Speaker 2: this one particular road. There's there's not really a whole
[5:38] Speaker 2: lot around it. There were some pinon Jennifer's right off
[5:42] Speaker 2: to the side about half a mile ahead of me,
[5:46] Speaker 2: but everything else was pretty far spread apart, and I
[5:49] Speaker 2: couldn't see anything and so as I'm traveling along this road,
[5:54] Speaker 2: I'm thinking in my head of anything like I need
[5:59] Speaker 2: divine intervene or something, because whatever this is, it means
[6:03] Speaker 2: me harm. And so I continue on cautiously but at
[6:10] Speaker 2: full speed, trying to get through this stretch of road.
[6:14] Speaker 2: And I start to go past these pinon junipers. And
[6:18] Speaker 2: I didn't see anything when I was initially passing them.
[6:22] Speaker 2: Nothing stuck out, no I shine, no nothing. But as
[6:25] Speaker 2: I drove past them, I saw motion from behind me.
[6:30] Speaker 2: So I turned to look, and outstepped this giant black
[6:37] Speaker 2: figure and it took about two steps to where you
[6:43] Speaker 2: could actually see the bend of the knee as it
[6:46] Speaker 2: was making the steps up onto the road area. When
[6:50] Speaker 2: it got to about the stretch of the road, it
[6:55] Speaker 2: sprang forward, got down on all fours across the road,
[7:00] Speaker 2: and took off across this pasture. And this pasture wasn't
[7:04] Speaker 2: a small pasture. It should have taken anything at least
[7:09] Speaker 2: a minute to get across, and this thing was. It
[7:12] Speaker 2: cleared it in seconds. It was pitch black, ginormous. I've
[7:21] Speaker 2: seen bear running down there. I've seen mountain lions, I've
[7:25] Speaker 2: seen elk and deer and any of the bigger game
[7:31] Speaker 2: animals that we could have had down there, that this
[7:33] Speaker 2: could have been. And this was unlike anything I had
[7:36] Speaker 2: seen before. It had a very unusual run when it
[7:42] Speaker 2: ran to the closest thing I could wrap my head
[7:45] Speaker 2: around is if you took a jack rabbit and a
[7:48] Speaker 2: greyhound and you meshed their movements together. That was kind
[7:54] Speaker 2: of what I saw. But even then that's barely hitting
[7:59] Speaker 2: the mark. Absolutely terrifying and definitely changed how I interacted
[8:09] Speaker 2: down there.
[8:13] Speaker 1: That I can't imagine seeing that. I mean, your age
[8:16] Speaker 1: is around twelve, from what you said before, that is
[8:20] Speaker 1: some wild, wild stuff. How tall would you estimate that
[8:25] Speaker 1: it was?
[8:27] Speaker 2: It had to have been probably around seven There's trees
[8:34] Speaker 2: down there, I mean they can get fairly big, but
[8:37] Speaker 2: these ones off the side of the road were probably
[8:40] Speaker 2: about maybe eight c and it blended in right along
[8:43] Speaker 2: with them.
[8:47] Speaker 1: So I want to make sure that I have the
[8:49] Speaker 1: right way of imagining off of what you said. So
[8:54] Speaker 1: it came up to the road, but it is it
[8:58] Speaker 1: that's I'm imagining, Like when you see like not to
[9:01] Speaker 1: say that's what it is, but like when you see
[9:04] Speaker 1: a large cat like spring, it's like on all fours
[9:09] Speaker 1: it springs across something. So was it like it was
[9:14] Speaker 1: like it.
[9:15] Speaker 2: Was diving across got it?
[9:17] Speaker 1: Okay?
[9:18] Speaker 2: So it went from these bushes. It took about, like
[9:22] Speaker 2: I said, two steps, and when it took those two steps,
[9:26] Speaker 2: you could see the knee come up on each of
[9:30] Speaker 2: the legs. But when it got to the edge of
[9:32] Speaker 2: the road, that's when it kind of sprang forward, like
[9:35] Speaker 2: launched itself forward over the road. And I want to
[9:41] Speaker 2: say it would have been the front hands, pause, whatever
[9:46] Speaker 2: you want to call it, were the thing that touched
[9:49] Speaker 2: ground first and then it took off from there.
[9:59] Speaker 1: You said it was a full moon. Was there anything?
[10:04] Speaker 1: Sometimes people report seeing specific weird things to do with
[10:09] Speaker 1: the eyes when it's a nighttime encounter. Did you notice
[10:13] Speaker 1: anything specific about the eyes?
[10:17] Speaker 2: I noticed nothing. It caught me completely off guard.
[10:22] Speaker 1: How long would you say the entire encounter.
[10:25] Speaker 3: Took maybe thirty seconds before before it was too far
[10:35] Speaker 3: for me to really see anything.
[10:42] Speaker 1: And so let's see thirty seconds in all. What about
[10:46] Speaker 1: the amount of time from when you see it take
[10:50] Speaker 1: two steps and then up to the road and then
[10:53] Speaker 1: spring across the road.
[10:59] Speaker 2: Oh man, I am I mean that didn't take very
[11:03] Speaker 2: long at all, because, like I said, theos were right
[11:06] Speaker 2: off the side of the road, So you I mean
[11:11] Speaker 2: this thing is it had quite the gay on it.
[11:17] Speaker 2: So maybe another ten fifteen seconds gotcha?
[11:22] Speaker 1: Okay? And then how far away from you was this
[11:28] Speaker 1: what you saw again as it it sprang across the road?
[11:33] Speaker 2: No more than ten feet?
[11:35] Speaker 1: Oh man, I don't know how you got through that
[11:39] Speaker 1: as a twelve year old. That is absolutely intense. In
[11:45] Speaker 1: that short amount of time, were you able to see
[11:48] Speaker 1: any any details that would have given you clues as
[11:53] Speaker 1: to you know, I'm thinking maybe anything about that the
[12:00] Speaker 1: hands or the arms or head shape.
[12:05] Speaker 2: Nothing specifically about the upper body. The main things that
[12:09] Speaker 2: stuck out to me were the bend in the knee
[12:14] Speaker 2: and the color of it. The color of this thing
[12:18] Speaker 2: was as if like the all the shadows around it
[12:20] Speaker 2: were just being absorbed by it.
[12:24] Speaker 1: I've heard that, I've heard similar to that from some
[12:28] Speaker 1: Oregon encounters. That is just the just pitch black. Yeah, absorbing,
[12:34] Speaker 1: That's that's a good way to put it. So what
[12:38] Speaker 1: happened after you know, you're you're out on the four
[12:41] Speaker 1: wheel or you're twelve years old and then you have
[12:43] Speaker 1: this this life changing thing happened to you? What happened
[12:47] Speaker 1: after that.
[12:50] Speaker 2: Well, I mean that day was kind of the end
[12:59] Speaker 2: of my exploring out outdoors in terms of of just
[13:03] Speaker 2: feeling like I could go anywhere and not really have
[13:06] Speaker 2: to worry because I, you know, I had always been
[13:08] Speaker 2: taught about certain things to look out for, like look
[13:12] Speaker 2: out for these tracks, or look out for this scat
[13:14] Speaker 2: or you know, but nothing, nothing prepared me for anything
[13:19] Speaker 2: like this, So I had no frame of reference at
[13:21] Speaker 2: that time, Like Bigfoot was not even in my repertoire
[13:25] Speaker 2: at that time, so I I couldn't feel I couldn't
[13:32] Speaker 2: go out anymore, especially at night time, even even if
[13:36] Speaker 2: it was just out in the front yard with the
[13:40] Speaker 2: light there, I would feel uncomfortable. I to this day,
[13:44] Speaker 2: I won't even drive down there at night with my
[13:47] Speaker 2: windows rolled down in my car or be outside if
[13:50] Speaker 2: I don't have a big group of people, I just
[13:53] Speaker 2: it's too much.
[14:00] Speaker 1: I can understand how it would definitely affect you like that.
[14:05] Speaker 1: How long was it before you told someone else what
[14:07] Speaker 1: you had experienced?
[14:13] Speaker 2: Probably my mid twenties. Okay, Like I said, I didn't
[14:23] Speaker 2: have any frame of reference for this, so for me,
[14:28] Speaker 2: I guess I kind of they had been having a
[14:30] Speaker 2: bunch of weird activity down there at that ranch house anyway.
[14:35] Speaker 2: So I kind of just jumbled it all into that
[14:38] Speaker 2: realm of like paranormal type stuff, and I almost thought like, Okay,
[14:43] Speaker 2: this is something demonic because of how it made me feel.
[14:47] Speaker 2: So I just kind of threw it in that basket
[14:49] Speaker 2: because I, like I said, I didn't have any reference
[14:52] Speaker 2: of Bigfoot. It wasn't something that people in my circle
[14:55] Speaker 2: were talking about. People in my family like, I didn't
[14:58] Speaker 2: you know this was before you could you a YouTube
[15:01] Speaker 2: search or our Google search. I don't know that ask
[15:04] Speaker 2: Jeeves really knew much about Bigfoot back then either.
[15:06] Speaker 1: So right, it's a great point. There was not a
[15:11] Speaker 1: lot of Bigfoot information on on accessible. I mean you
[15:16] Speaker 1: would have had there be books in libraries and things
[15:19] Speaker 1: of that nature, would be hard to get the information
[15:21] Speaker 1: as as opposed to today where it's easy now. So
[15:26] Speaker 1: you didn't talk about it until you were twenty. Were
[15:29] Speaker 1: you ever able to have a conversation with the relatives
[15:32] Speaker 1: that were from that area about what you experienced that day?
[15:37] Speaker 2: Not with those relatives in particular. I have had conversations
[15:41] Speaker 2: with my mother about it, because she grew up down
[15:46] Speaker 2: on that ranch till about I think seventy three is
[15:52] Speaker 2: when she was out of there, so she spent quite
[15:55] Speaker 2: some time between the nineteen fifties and the nineteen seventies.
[16:02] Speaker 1: Okay, what was her reaction when you told her what
[16:06] Speaker 1: you experienced that night?
[16:09] Speaker 2: She wasn't surprised at something like that could be down there.
[16:14] Speaker 2: She never beyond the feelings of being watched at times.
[16:19] Speaker 2: She never experienced anything herself, and so for her it
[16:23] Speaker 2: was kind of a little bit of a surprise, but
[16:27] Speaker 2: not too much, not out of the realm of possibility,
[16:32] Speaker 2: but definitely not something that was on her radar either.
[16:38] Speaker 1: And what a way to get introduced to the subject.
[16:43] Speaker 1: How did this then affect you? Sometimes people, you know,
[16:49] Speaker 1: they experience something like this and they launched into trying
[16:52] Speaker 1: to figure out what it was or did it just
[16:55] Speaker 1: you know, you said you were very, very apprehensive about
[16:59] Speaker 1: going back to that area and really how you handled
[17:02] Speaker 1: yourself outside.
[17:05] Speaker 2: So I didn't dive into anything because, like I said,
[17:09] Speaker 2: you know, I didn't really know what exactly I was facing,
[17:12] Speaker 2: Like a right, I figured it was paranormal in some way,
[17:15] Speaker 2: shape or form, or you know, That's what my mind
[17:18] Speaker 2: kind of jumped to at the time, but I kind
[17:23] Speaker 2: of just put it in the back of my mind
[17:25] Speaker 2: with anything else that had ever happened down there, and
[17:28] Speaker 2: just kind of moved forward. I would still go down
[17:32] Speaker 2: and visit, but I would definitely, you know, change up
[17:35] Speaker 2: my behaviors a little bit. I wouldn't walk as far
[17:38] Speaker 2: as I normally would. I wouldn't go to to more
[17:41] Speaker 2: of the wooded areas to go play or or do
[17:46] Speaker 2: fe willing in more of the wooded areas, and I
[17:48] Speaker 2: would definitely wouldn't go out at night. So it changed
[17:52] Speaker 2: how I existed down there, but it didn't change my
[17:57] Speaker 2: love for the area.
[17:58] Speaker 1: If that makes sense, No, it absolutely does. You maybe
[18:03] Speaker 1: you know, if I'm trying to put myself in that situation,
[18:06] Speaker 1: I think I would. I would definitely be treating it.
[18:11] Speaker 1: I'd be more apprehensive. I would maybe you just be
[18:16] Speaker 1: aware that there's something else out there that you hadn't
[18:18] Speaker 1: been told about as a younger child, and I think
[18:23] Speaker 1: now I would be there would be a respect and
[18:26] Speaker 1: definitely watching my back from here there on it. But yeah,
[18:31] Speaker 1: there was pretty wild stuff.
[18:33] Speaker 2: There was definitely one feeling of like I had always
[18:38] Speaker 2: been told about the different animals and what to look
[18:40] Speaker 2: out for so the fact that I wasn't told of
[18:43] Speaker 2: anything in particular to that match this description. That also
[18:48] Speaker 2: was kind of like an isolating feeling because then you know, okay,
[18:53] Speaker 2: and what is it that I saw? Then?
[18:55] Speaker 1: So do you remember in the years since then, was
[19:01] Speaker 1: there let's say, maybe a book you read or something
[19:06] Speaker 1: that you watched that made you realize, okay, what I
[19:09] Speaker 1: experienced that night that could have been this thing that
[19:13] Speaker 1: we're calling Bigfoot.
[19:15] Speaker 2: It was actually the second encounter that did.
[19:18] Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well, I think if you're good to go,
[19:23] Speaker 1: I think that might be a good time to move
[19:24] Speaker 1: into the second encounter then, okay.
[19:27] Speaker 2: So the second kounter happened in May of two thousand
[19:30] Speaker 2: and eight. At the time, I was a Brand News
[19:33] Speaker 2: Banking marine. I was in marine combat training at Camp Geiger,
[19:38] Speaker 2: and marine combat training is kind of like a continuation
[19:42] Speaker 2: of boot camp where they kind of fine tune certain
[19:45] Speaker 2: aspects of your training, where it's you're learning how to
[19:48] Speaker 2: do various combat tactics, if you will. And one of
[19:57] Speaker 2: the things that you had to do was you had
[19:59] Speaker 2: to stand guard so that you could learn how to
[20:04] Speaker 2: really perform those duties in case you did actually encounter
[20:08] Speaker 2: something in your career, and so we had what was
[20:13] Speaker 2: called a battle buddy at the time, which was basically
[20:16] Speaker 2: another marine that you were assigned to kind of stick
[20:19] Speaker 2: close to. And so my battle buddy and I we
[20:23] Speaker 2: got assigned to a night guard duty and we got
[20:27] Speaker 2: taken to this area. I have no idea exactly where
[20:31] Speaker 2: on this base it was. We were kind of in
[20:35] Speaker 2: a filled type position at the time, and so it
[20:40] Speaker 2: was just rows of Quantt huts. You had one dirt
[20:45] Speaker 2: road that would lead between the two Quantitt huts, and
[20:49] Speaker 2: then on either side you had like maybe like a
[21:00] Speaker 2: light or something not quite like a light pole. So
[21:04] Speaker 2: you had one rode quants it hurt another road quantit
[21:06] Speaker 2: hats and rode in between dirt road that dead ended
[21:10] Speaker 2: at a fence that had constantina wire and then there
[21:14] Speaker 2: was like a little mechanical shed at the very end
[21:16] Speaker 2: of this which I assumed controlled all the lights. And
[21:20] Speaker 2: so we were the second to the last ones that
[21:24] Speaker 2: had just before that fence right underneath the spotlight, and
[21:29] Speaker 2: I had to stay there all night. I don't remember
[21:32] Speaker 2: exactly when we got there, but it was later in
[21:35] Speaker 2: the evening as things were starting to get darker and
[21:41] Speaker 2: everything seemed to be going pretty well. There hadn't really
[21:45] Speaker 2: been any anything. There weren't any animals, there weren't any people.
[21:50] Speaker 2: It was a very kind of remote location in terms
[21:54] Speaker 2: of where all the other stuff was happening, and so
[21:59] Speaker 2: we were kind of just standing there quietly, didn't have
[22:02] Speaker 2: cell phones, didn't have anything like that to distract us,
[22:05] Speaker 2: just us and our rifles and and all these these buildings,
[22:12] Speaker 2: and somewhere around probably twelve thirty, I kind of just
[22:18] Speaker 2: started getting this feeling like we were being watched. So
[22:22] Speaker 2: I was looking around, trying not to make it obvious
[22:26] Speaker 2: that I was really, you know, zoning in on things,
[22:31] Speaker 2: because I thought initially there, you know, was one of
[22:33] Speaker 2: our instructors coming to mess with us. And so I
[22:37] Speaker 2: started scanning everything, and I couldn't really see anything along
[22:44] Speaker 2: the gate area, or not the gate area, but the
[22:47] Speaker 2: fence area. Didn't see anything around the quoncert huts and everything,
[22:50] Speaker 2: and so I kind of just zoned off into the woodline,
[22:54] Speaker 2: which was just outside of this fenced area. What I
[23:02] Speaker 2: saw was basically like a figure very similar like to
[23:14] Speaker 2: the first encounter, where it was that same kind of
[23:18] Speaker 2: like black that just absorbs everything around it and it
[23:21] Speaker 2: was just slightly darker than the shaded areas around the
[23:26] Speaker 2: tree line that it was standing in, but it was
[23:29] Speaker 2: standing in just past like the first row of trees.
[23:34] Speaker 2: It didn't move beyond so I take it back. It
[23:39] Speaker 2: moved ever so slightly when I first saw it, and
[23:42] Speaker 2: that's kind of what alerted me to its presence. But
[23:45] Speaker 2: beyond that, it just stood there and it watched. Didn't
[23:49] Speaker 2: see any any eyeshine, didn't see anything super crazy. I
[23:54] Speaker 2: could make out like more of the bipedal figure this time.
[23:59] Speaker 2: I could make out kind of like the actual frame
[24:04] Speaker 2: of a head and a shoulders, but couldn't see really
[24:07] Speaker 2: any detail, and so I just kind of kept it
[24:11] Speaker 2: in my view, but I didn't really let on to
[24:15] Speaker 2: the fact that I had seen it. Or somewhere within
[24:21] Speaker 2: I think maybe a couple hours, I noticed it just
[24:25] Speaker 2: kind of like start to fade back into the background.
[24:31] Speaker 2: And it just did that ever so slightly. You just
[24:35] Speaker 2: noticed that it would get further and further back, but
[24:38] Speaker 2: it wouldn't really move beyond that until it was completely
[24:43] Speaker 2: out of view. And then maybe about two hours later
[24:49] Speaker 2: is when the sun came up. And that's about the
[24:52] Speaker 2: extent of that one Okay.
[24:56] Speaker 1: So that is that's some really interesting stuff. Would you
[25:00] Speaker 1: say the distance was from where you were at to
[25:05] Speaker 1: where it was standing in the tree line.
[25:08] Speaker 2: Somewhere between twenty and thirty feet, because I think we
[25:13] Speaker 2: had one quantit hit between us and then the fence line,
[25:17] Speaker 2: and from the fence line to where the tray line
[25:21] Speaker 2: was was probably another.
[25:25] Speaker 1: Ten feet, all right. And it sounded like you were
[25:32] Speaker 1: able to see it there for a few hours, oh man.
[25:38] Speaker 2: And it didn't seem you know, it didn't seem threatening
[25:41] Speaker 2: or anything like that. I got more of like just
[25:46] Speaker 2: like it was bored or curious and it was just
[25:51] Speaker 2: watching to see what, you know, these two people were doing.
[25:56] Speaker 1: What would you say, were there any giveaways that or
[26:03] Speaker 1: details you notice that that told you, Okay, I'm looking
[26:07] Speaker 1: at something different and this isn't just another marine that's
[26:14] Speaker 1: spying on us and making sure that the new recruits
[26:17] Speaker 1: are doing what they're supposed.
[26:19] Speaker 2: To be doing. There were a couple things. So one
[26:22] Speaker 2: the area, it would have been kind of a difficult
[26:24] Speaker 2: area for them to get to. I mean, North Carolina
[26:29] Speaker 2: has a lot of dense forest area to begin with,
[26:33] Speaker 2: so being in that kind of environment and that close
[26:38] Speaker 2: to a military base in general, would probably you know,
[26:41] Speaker 2: be not be impossible, but it would be quite a
[26:46] Speaker 2: difficult task to go and really be fun detected by
[26:52] Speaker 2: powers higher than me, I imagine. But two is the
[26:57] Speaker 2: size because those are also not small trees. I mean,
[27:01] Speaker 2: it was much different than opinion on juniper. Those those
[27:07] Speaker 2: are fairly small compared to you like the tree height
[27:10] Speaker 2: that you can get in North Carolina. And with that,
[27:16] Speaker 2: I mean you could tell that it was close to
[27:21] Speaker 2: the branch height of these taller trees. I wouldn't say
[27:26] Speaker 2: it wasn't like high up into the canopy, but it
[27:29] Speaker 2: definitely was blending right along with the trunk to the
[27:31] Speaker 2: lower branches of these things.
[27:36] Speaker 1: Would you be able to try to put a number
[27:38] Speaker 1: to what you think the height would be of it?
[27:44] Speaker 2: Mmm? Probably about eight eight maybe?
[27:53] Speaker 1: Okay, gotcha? And then you'd mentioned that you could see,
[27:59] Speaker 1: you know, like the frame of the head and the shoulders.
[28:02] Speaker 1: Were you able to tell anything about like the shape
[28:06] Speaker 1: of the head at all?
[28:10] Speaker 2: The shoulders and the head all seemed to kind of
[28:14] Speaker 2: go in like together, they didn't. There didn't seem to
[28:18] Speaker 2: be a whole lot of definition. So devoid of a neck,
[28:23] Speaker 2: I guess is what you could say as far as
[28:29] Speaker 2: like if there was a round head or a conical
[28:32] Speaker 2: head or anything like that. I couldn't really tell you
[28:35] Speaker 2: based just because of how the leaves and the tree
[28:40] Speaker 2: and the shadows kind of like fell on everything.
[28:47] Speaker 1: Gotcha, how about this, Let's say you're trying to put
[29:00] Speaker 1: an estimate on how heavy it was or could you
[29:05] Speaker 1: notice anything about the type of a frame it had? Overall?
[29:14] Speaker 2: It was extremely bulky, because my initial thought when I
[29:20] Speaker 2: saw this figure was Okay, you know, this is just
[29:23] Speaker 2: some instructor that's going to be messing with this. But
[29:29] Speaker 2: the more I looked at it, the more I realized
[29:31] Speaker 2: that the size didn't match, because I mean, you have
[29:35] Speaker 2: some marines that are pretty bulky in their size, but
[29:37] Speaker 2: this was, particularly the width of the shoulders seemed completely
[29:47] Speaker 2: out of the realm of human possibility, if you will.
[29:55] Speaker 2: It's it's really hard to say, because part of the
[30:01] Speaker 2: frame was along in that that tree area, and it
[30:06] Speaker 2: was only you know, I could only see so much
[30:11] Speaker 2: between the shadows and the trees, because like I said,
[30:13] Speaker 2: it was standing within that first row of trees.
[30:20] Speaker 1: How wide across? Would you would you think that the shoulders.
[30:25] Speaker 2: Were oh, four four feet easy.
[30:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, that's wild stuff. Oh yeah.
[30:33] Speaker 2: And the other thing too, is the next day nobody
[30:37] Speaker 2: said anything to us. Was that. So that was a
[30:41] Speaker 2: big kind of like question mark on there, because you know,
[30:44] Speaker 2: if it had been an instructor or something, I would
[30:48] Speaker 2: have expected to have my butt handed to me, Like
[30:50] Speaker 2: how come you didn't? Uh, how come you didn't say anything?
[30:55] Speaker 2: How come you didn't you know, interact with this figure
[30:59] Speaker 2: you saw? Ah, because we like I said, I didn't
[31:03] Speaker 2: tell my battle buddy anything that I was seeing. But
[31:07] Speaker 2: the next day I nobody came to debrief, nobody came
[31:11] Speaker 2: to like question me, nothing like that. It was just
[31:14] Speaker 2: like I saw something and no one else in the
[31:17] Speaker 2: world knew about it.
[31:20] Speaker 1: Okay. Now, during those hours that you were noticing this
[31:24] Speaker 1: and watching it, did you at any time hear any
[31:29] Speaker 1: sound from that area?
[31:31] Speaker 2: No? No, no sound?
[31:33] Speaker 1: Oh wow, so completely quiet the whole time.
[31:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm talking like, no, no insects, no animals,
[31:41] Speaker 2: no nothing.
[31:44] Speaker 1: Okay. So that is definitely, uh, that's extremely interesting. And
[31:49] Speaker 1: so I'll reframe my question in a minute a different way,
[31:52] Speaker 1: but that is really good to know. So you're not
[31:54] Speaker 1: you're not hearing any environment environmental sound Uh did that?
[32:01] Speaker 1: Was that what it was like the whole time or
[32:05] Speaker 1: did that kick in at a certain time during that night.
[32:09] Speaker 2: The whole time, well, I mean the whole time of
[32:12] Speaker 2: the encounter. I want to say that I don't remember
[32:19] Speaker 2: any animals during that time, but there were definitely bugs
[32:22] Speaker 2: at one point, but I don't remember there being any
[32:27] Speaker 2: sort of sound during this this timeframe.
[32:31] Speaker 1: Okay, gotcha. So let's pretend that you're in that area
[32:34] Speaker 1: and that you have your eyes closed and so you're
[32:37] Speaker 1: just using your ears. There would be nothing that you're
[32:40] Speaker 1: hearing from that area that would tell you there's something
[32:43] Speaker 1: over in that tree line, right. Wow, Okay, so that
[32:47] Speaker 1: that's pretty freaky. I mean, you're seeing something that you're
[32:51] Speaker 1: estimating to be eight feet tall, four feet across at
[32:55] Speaker 1: the shoulders, and not making a sound of any kind
[32:59] Speaker 1: for hours.
[33:00] Speaker 2: Thing not not a tree break, not leaves crunching, nothing.
[33:05] Speaker 2: I The only thing that tipped me off to there
[33:09] Speaker 2: being something was feeling like something was watching us.
[33:14] Speaker 1: My goodness. Did you ever have a conversation with your
[33:17] Speaker 1: battle buddy after this about what happened?
[33:21] Speaker 2: No? No, we weren't on the best of terms, so
[33:25] Speaker 2: we didn't talk more than what we had to.
[33:27] Speaker 1: So I got you, I got it. That's wild, though,
[33:33] Speaker 1: if you think about it, there's someone out there that
[33:35] Speaker 1: to this day have no idea that during training there
[33:39] Speaker 1: is a big foot right there. Can you imagine like
[33:42] Speaker 1: what would happen if and I don't know if you
[33:44] Speaker 1: guys would have had weapons on you at all, but
[33:46] Speaker 1: like what would happen if you started, you know, shooting
[33:49] Speaker 1: weapons towards that direction? I mean, it could have been terrible.
[33:53] Speaker 2: You know, I wonder sometimes how much the weapons actually
[33:57] Speaker 2: played into it, because we did have M sixteen at
[34:01] Speaker 2: that time. They weren't allowing us to have them loaded,
[34:04] Speaker 2: but obviously this thing wouldn't have known that, so we
[34:08] Speaker 2: did have them on our persons. But so I kind
[34:12] Speaker 2: of wonder between you know, I don't really think the
[34:16] Speaker 2: fence would have been much of an obstacle, but between
[34:19] Speaker 2: us and the weapons, there being two of us and
[34:23] Speaker 2: essentially being armed, if that was like if that changed
[34:26] Speaker 2: how the interaction went down, or if it would have
[34:28] Speaker 2: been a completely different interaction had it not been the case.
[34:32] Speaker 2: Because there again, we were both females as well.
[34:35] Speaker 1: So and that's actually half a second before you said that,
[34:41] Speaker 1: I was like another thing is they're both females too,
[34:43] Speaker 1: and I wonder, you know, sometimes that does play, it
[34:46] Speaker 1: actually plays. I think it plays a ton into encounters
[34:50] Speaker 1: if there are females present. And that's a whole discussion
[34:53] Speaker 1: in itself. Did the topic of bigfoot or anything else
[34:58] Speaker 1: is strange like that other crypto it's ever come up
[35:00] Speaker 1: during your training at that camp?
[35:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, No, we didn't hear anything. We didn't get
[35:08] Speaker 2: any sort of brief about any kind of animals or
[35:10] Speaker 2: anything like that. And that's not even you know, suspicious
[35:14] Speaker 2: animals that could have been like coyotes for instance. They
[35:18] Speaker 2: didn't have any sort of briefing for us on any
[35:20] Speaker 2: kind of animals. I guess, you know, they assumed that
[35:25] Speaker 2: we were in the fence, so we were good.
[35:26] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[35:27] Speaker 1: But which is another good point. All this happened within
[35:33] Speaker 1: the fenced in area of this marine training camp. Correct.
[35:39] Speaker 2: Now, we were in the fence line, but it was
[35:42] Speaker 2: ten feet outside, at least ten feet outside of the
[35:45] Speaker 2: fence line.
[35:45] Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. That that makes a huge difference. Okay,
[35:49] Speaker 1: so you're inside the fence, but it is watching you
[35:52] Speaker 1: from the outside of the fence forever. Oh my goodness.
[35:55] Speaker 1: That is so wild.
[35:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, for at least a couple hours it was watching
[36:01] Speaker 2: like I wasn't you know, I wasn't checking my watch
[36:04] Speaker 2: regularly or anything. But I do remember at some point
[36:08] Speaker 2: before this all started, I had looked down at my
[36:10] Speaker 2: watch and it was past midnight, So I can tell
[36:12] Speaker 2: you that much. You know, it was past midnight and
[36:14] Speaker 2: it was before the sun came up by at least
[36:16] Speaker 2: a couple hours. But for the vast majority of the time,
[36:20] Speaker 2: this thing was just chilling in the forest line watching
[36:23] Speaker 2: this man.
[36:25] Speaker 1: It makes you wonder, like, what is what is going
[36:28] Speaker 1: on on the big Foot side there? Is it like
[36:31] Speaker 1: they're they're watching they feel like they're watching something at
[36:36] Speaker 1: the zoo or like I mean, if you look at
[36:37] Speaker 1: the map in this area, there's a ton of forests
[36:41] Speaker 1: around this area too.
[36:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, it is extremely dem Yeah, a lot a lot
[36:47] Speaker 2: of forest, plenty of wildlife and waterways. I mean we
[36:51] Speaker 2: would have wildlife on the bases all the time, like
[36:54] Speaker 2: in Le June, and the waterways would go all the
[36:58] Speaker 2: way through there. I mean you you had every sort
[37:02] Speaker 2: of different thing from like little creeks to like an ocean.
[37:07] Speaker 1: So absolutely, and yeah, that's a important detail. This is
[37:14] Speaker 1: definitely when people think North Carolina, I think they're thinking
[37:17] Speaker 1: over by Asheville, but I mean you're over by the
[37:20] Speaker 1: Atlantic Ocean pretty much in this situation.
[37:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, we're right off the coast there.
[37:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, so that is an important thing. Now, how did
[37:27] Speaker 1: this you know you have this experience? Did you know
[37:35] Speaker 1: right away? Did you have a feeling like, Okay, what
[37:37] Speaker 1: I'm seeing this is a big foot? Or did it
[37:40] Speaker 1: take some time for you to also make the connection
[37:43] Speaker 1: of what I experienced that night was was probably a
[37:45] Speaker 1: big fun.
[37:47] Speaker 2: So it took me a little bit of time. But
[37:49] Speaker 2: that was also around the time when they had like
[37:51] Speaker 2: monster quests coming out with like their their Bigfoot episodes.
[37:55] Speaker 2: So yeah, I remember watching that and kind of like
[37:59] Speaker 2: it wasn't I think when it aired on TV, but
[38:02] Speaker 2: it was like you could go back and watch it
[38:04] Speaker 2: on like Verizon had a thing on your phone where
[38:07] Speaker 2: you could watch certain TV episodes or something, and that
[38:11] Speaker 2: was like the cool new feature. And so I remember
[38:14] Speaker 2: watching something about Bigfoot on there and kind of being like, huh, okay,
[38:19] Speaker 2: so that would make sense because that's what I saw,
[38:23] Speaker 2: or at least that looks a heck of a lot
[38:25] Speaker 2: like what I saw and then of course that sighting
[38:29] Speaker 2: too was also like, well, that seems very similar to
[38:32] Speaker 2: the thing that I saw when I was twelve. So
[38:35] Speaker 2: that's when like the puzzle pieces started to really connect.
[38:42] Speaker 1: Totally totally got it. And then for future listeners, she
[38:46] Speaker 1: is talking about the original run with Doug Hicheck, just
[38:50] Speaker 1: so people are clear on that, and that's that's extremely interesting.
[38:55] Speaker 1: And that was only your you said your second encounter, right, yes,
[39:01] Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, okay, so let's see so that that
[39:05] Speaker 1: was two thousand and eight. You are, let's see, so
[39:12] Speaker 1: you're probably in your thirties at that time. I would
[39:15] Speaker 1: guess no, I was.
[39:18] Speaker 2: Oh so I take it back. So the first encounter
[39:21] Speaker 2: actually would have been I said late nineties, but it
[39:24] Speaker 2: would have been early two thousands, so it probably would
[39:27] Speaker 2: have been like two thousand and one, two thousand and two. Okay,
[39:29] Speaker 2: so at that time I was about eighteen for the
[39:33] Speaker 2: second encounter.
[39:34] Speaker 1: Oh okay, cool, Sorry, that's that's cool. Okay. So all right,
[39:42] Speaker 1: so then yeah, let's let's move on to your third
[39:47] Speaker 1: experience then.
[39:48] Speaker 2: Okay, So my third experience, So my husband and I
[39:55] Speaker 2: were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and this was in
[39:58] Speaker 2: September of two thousand and ninety, and so we had
[40:01] Speaker 2: decided that we were going to take a weekend trip
[40:03] Speaker 2: down to Maceverde so that we could do hiking, because
[40:06] Speaker 2: that was our thing. We would go and we would
[40:10] Speaker 2: do the whatever close destinations we could in state, do
[40:17] Speaker 2: hiking trips, occasionally go camping and things like that. And
[40:21] Speaker 2: so we went down there the night before, stayed in
[40:27] Speaker 2: Cortes so we could get up early the next morning,
[40:30] Speaker 2: and so on the twenty third is when we would
[40:33] Speaker 2: have been in Maceverde, and we got a pretty early start.
[40:39] Speaker 2: We were there maybe an hour after the park initially opens,
[40:42] Speaker 2: and at that time one of the trails was closed.
[40:49] Speaker 2: I forget exactly which one it was that was closed,
[40:53] Speaker 2: but we were able to do the petrografh trail and
[40:57] Speaker 2: the Canyon Trail for hiking, and then we went and
[41:02] Speaker 2: saw the actual Cliff Palace, so those three were at
[41:05] Speaker 2: least open. And so initially we started our hike in
[41:11] Speaker 2: the Petriclyffe trail and then ended with the Canyon trail.
[41:17] Speaker 2: So for the Petrickclyffe trail, you basically you go in
[41:19] Speaker 2: this area that hikes up along the canyon until you
[41:23] Speaker 2: get to the petric glyphs, and then it's a short
[41:27] Speaker 2: distance after that where you basically cross the canyon and
[41:30] Speaker 2: you're out back into the main area. And so when
[41:36] Speaker 2: we were on that trail, I don't think we had
[41:40] Speaker 2: been on there for very long, maybe ten or fifteen minutes,
[41:43] Speaker 2: and I started to get this filling like something wasn't
[41:47] Speaker 2: quite right. And I don't know that I would necessarily
[41:51] Speaker 2: say it like I felt like I was being watched.
[41:54] Speaker 2: I just felt like uneasy. And as we continue to
[41:59] Speaker 2: go off on that trail, the filling kind of got
[42:03] Speaker 2: more intense. I just felt like, Okay, something could possibly
[42:08] Speaker 2: go wrong here. So I loved taking photos of nature
[42:13] Speaker 2: and things like that, and we had a daughter back
[42:16] Speaker 2: home with my mom at the time who loved wildflowers,
[42:20] Speaker 2: So I was taking pictures of flowers and rock formations
[42:22] Speaker 2: and all that stuff. And so I remember feeling like
[42:26] Speaker 2: I needed to take extra pictures of our locations, like
[42:32] Speaker 2: in case something went wrong, they would if they found
[42:36] Speaker 2: my phone, they would know exactly where we left off
[42:39] Speaker 2: so they could start searching. And so I started doing that.
[42:46] Speaker 2: I started taking extra photos. I think by the end
[42:48] Speaker 2: of it, I ended up with like two hundred and
[42:50] Speaker 2: fifty plus photos, but that Philly never subsided. The entire
[42:56] Speaker 2: rest of the time that we were hiking through these areas,
[43:00] Speaker 2: I felt that uneasy, filling, and it didn't matter how
[43:06] Speaker 2: high up we were or how you know, low in
[43:09] Speaker 2: the canyon valley. We were Like I said, the petroglyph
[43:13] Speaker 2: trail goes along the canyon, but then the canyon trail
[43:16] Speaker 2: itself goes down into the canyon and loops back up.
[43:20] Speaker 2: And this entire time that we're hiking through all these
[43:23] Speaker 2: areas there's dense wilderness or there's like rock outcroppings and
[43:30] Speaker 2: all sorts of different features and scenery and foliage and everything.
[43:38] Speaker 2: I mean, what you would think of for that area
[43:42] Speaker 2: of Colorado. It's not exactly the most like you would
[43:47] Speaker 2: think more desert, like you wouldn't think, you know, bigfoot habitats.
[43:53] Speaker 2: It's not something that I was thinking about. I thought
[43:55] Speaker 2: like as soon as we left more of like the
[43:57] Speaker 2: Pagosa Springs area the during gos that that was it
[44:01] Speaker 2: like we were out of the potential areas where something
[44:05] Speaker 2: like that would live and into more of the desert
[44:08] Speaker 2: canyon areas, and it was just it kind of blew
[44:11] Speaker 2: my mind exactly how densely wooded this area was, and
[44:18] Speaker 2: just really eer refilling the entire time. So we get
[44:25] Speaker 2: done with the hikes, we go back, and of course,
[44:29] Speaker 2: like I said, you know, I wasn't expecting bigfoot in
[44:32] Speaker 2: this area. That was not a saying in my brain
[44:35] Speaker 2: like that that couldn't happen. They couldn't live down there.
[44:38] Speaker 2: So I didn't immediately do a deep dive into my
[44:42] Speaker 2: photos to see if I caught anything or anything like that,
[44:45] Speaker 2: like that's not at all what the purpose that those were.
[44:49] Speaker 2: It wasn't until a couple years later when I was
[44:52] Speaker 2: actually trying to do some art pieces for our house
[44:58] Speaker 2: where I started to kind of go through those pictures
[45:01] Speaker 2: and really dive into like the different areas and the
[45:04] Speaker 2: different angles and zooming into things. And that's when I
[45:09] Speaker 2: happened to cross this one figure. The first one that
[45:14] Speaker 2: I saw was the figure poking out of the tree
[45:18] Speaker 2: where I saw it and I thought, surely not, like
[45:26] Speaker 2: what is this thing? You know? And the more I
[45:29] Speaker 2: looked at it, every different way I tried to look
[45:32] Speaker 2: at it and making it brighter, making it darker, any
[45:35] Speaker 2: different way, like, it didn't change what I was seeing.
[45:38] Speaker 2: I was still seeing this figure. I was still seeing
[45:41] Speaker 2: something reach out with one hand and the eyeballs and there,
[45:47] Speaker 2: you know. So that led me kind of into a
[45:55] Speaker 2: deep dive into these photographs to see if I could
[45:58] Speaker 2: find anything else. And then I found some thing. And
[46:01] Speaker 2: that's when I started looking at this figure that was
[46:06] Speaker 2: standing across the canyon. And there again, from a distance,
[46:11] Speaker 2: or if you weren't really paying attention, these things would
[46:14] Speaker 2: just look like trees. But there there was this thing
[46:18] Speaker 2: standing behind this tree across the canyon and doing a
[46:23] Speaker 2: very poor job of it because it looked pretty distant
[46:27] Speaker 2: from the tree, if you will. But and so I
[46:32] Speaker 2: kind of sat with those for a while, would occasionally
[46:37] Speaker 2: pull them out home to you know, a family member
[46:40] Speaker 2: here and there, or maybe a friend, but I didn't
[46:43] Speaker 2: really do anything. And then I started kind of getting
[46:47] Speaker 2: it more into Bigfoot and started listening to podcasts like
[46:50] Speaker 2: I started listening to Like West's podcast, and then I
[46:55] Speaker 2: got into listening to yours, and that led me to
[46:59] Speaker 2: actually reaching out to you, and in doing so, I
[47:03] Speaker 2: wanted to go back and look at those photos, making
[47:05] Speaker 2: sure like I had everything for you for the interview.
[47:09] Speaker 2: And that's when I noticed that second one or not
[47:14] Speaker 2: the second one, but the third one. And that third
[47:17] Speaker 2: one is the one that I think looks like a
[47:20] Speaker 2: female holding an infant standing with like a side profile
[47:26] Speaker 2: right next to the tree like it's going down, like
[47:28] Speaker 2: it's going to go past the tree.
[47:35] Speaker 1: They really are some interesting photos, and it's okay that
[47:39] Speaker 1: you had said it's okay to put them in the
[47:41] Speaker 1: YouTube version.
[47:42] Speaker 2: Correct. Yeah, absolutely absolutely.
[47:46] Speaker 1: The one. Yeah, I mean, man, there's there is definitely
[47:52] Speaker 1: what you have one zoomed in and I mean you
[47:54] Speaker 1: can see what looks like it is. It looks like
[48:00] Speaker 1: is reaching a handout and you can see like two
[48:02] Speaker 1: eyes and like it's just it is. It's really wild stuff.
[48:07] Speaker 1: I see a lot of photos, but but uh, these
[48:11] Speaker 1: are some pretty pretty interesting things. Have you been back
[48:15] Speaker 1: to this area since then?
[48:17] Speaker 2: I have not, And that's not to say that I
[48:21] Speaker 2: wouldn't go back there. It's just time hasn't allowed for it.
[48:24] Speaker 2: But so with that initial picture that you were just
[48:28] Speaker 2: talking about, that one was crazy. So that one when
[48:35] Speaker 2: you look at so if I go back and I
[48:39] Speaker 2: look at some of my other photos, we were literally
[48:43] Speaker 2: a minute from where the Petrick glyphs were and it
[48:48] Speaker 2: was right off of the would have been the right
[48:52] Speaker 2: hand side of the trail from where the Petrick glyphs
[48:55] Speaker 2: were in the tree line over there. So I don't
[48:57] Speaker 2: know how how far that would have been, and maybe
[49:01] Speaker 2: fifty feet and that that's a huge Maybe I don't
[49:05] Speaker 2: even think it was that far, but it was off
[49:09] Speaker 2: just a minute past the Petrick lives.
[49:16] Speaker 1: Wow. And if you look at I mean, it's such
[49:21] Speaker 1: an interesting area because the park really kind of juts
[49:26] Speaker 1: down into the Ute Mountain Reservation and then south of
[49:31] Speaker 1: that is the Navajo Nation, which I mean that whole
[49:35] Speaker 1: area is is so so incredibly active. Yeah, when it
[49:40] Speaker 1: comes to bigfoot and other things. And so I'm really
[49:44] Speaker 1: not surprised Sasquatch isn't going to stop at the reservation
[49:49] Speaker 1: line and the park border for sure, It's just going
[49:53] Speaker 1: to go right in there. So I'm not surprised at all.
[49:56] Speaker 1: What did your what did your husband feel when you
[50:00] Speaker 1: started noticing these things?
[50:04] Speaker 2: So initially when we were hiking, I didn't tell him
[50:06] Speaker 2: that I was feeling any certain way, because I mean
[50:09] Speaker 2: it's not unusual for me. I'm where of those people.
[50:13] Speaker 2: I guess it's more in tune to like different changes
[50:16] Speaker 2: in the atmosphere. If you will. So for me, it's
[50:21] Speaker 2: just kind of like I could walk into any room
[50:23] Speaker 2: and if something changes, I'll feel at first, or I'll
[50:27] Speaker 2: notice something, or just anything kind of I guess weird
[50:33] Speaker 2: like that, But so I don't often mention it to him.
[50:38] Speaker 2: He didn't seem to really if he had felt anything
[50:41] Speaker 2: at the time, he didn't say anything. But later on,
[50:47] Speaker 2: as I started to find these pictures, you know, he's
[50:51] Speaker 2: always been very much one of those was like I
[50:55] Speaker 2: personally need to see it to believe it kind of people.
[51:00] Speaker 2: But even then, like seeing these photos it makes him
[51:04] Speaker 2: even kind of put a pause and go, wait a minute,
[51:09] Speaker 2: this is something I'm seeing something. I don't know what
[51:12] Speaker 2: I'm seeing, but I'm seeing something, and I can't deny
[51:14] Speaker 2: that I'm seeing something.
[51:16] Speaker 1: Sure, sure, sure, So it's a really interesting photo. Has
[51:28] Speaker 1: has the fact that you now you have this this
[51:30] Speaker 1: evidence captured of things on some things that were there
[51:36] Speaker 1: during the hike. Has how has this affected things since
[51:41] Speaker 1: the way that you view bigfoot f at all?
[51:45] Speaker 2: It was kind of like confirmation, confirmation of everything that
[51:49] Speaker 2: I've seen. Its like, Okay, my eyes weren't actually playing
[51:52] Speaker 2: tricks on me. These things actually are out there. They
[51:55] Speaker 2: are real. They are in area is where you would
[52:00] Speaker 2: least expect them to be, because I mean that first photo,
[52:05] Speaker 2: the one across the canyon, about the time that I
[52:08] Speaker 2: was starting to fill that unease, is about the time
[52:12] Speaker 2: we captured that. It was within probably ten minutes of
[52:19] Speaker 2: taking that photo, or like ten minutes of me starting
[52:22] Speaker 2: to feel that way when I took that initial photo.
[52:25] Speaker 2: And then the second one that I sent you, or
[52:32] Speaker 2: the one where it's peeking out, Like I said, we
[52:34] Speaker 2: were right off the trail, and that was in a
[52:38] Speaker 2: high traffic area. There were a ton of people checking
[52:40] Speaker 2: out those petric clips and a minute up up the
[52:43] Speaker 2: road or up the trail, this thing was right off
[52:48] Speaker 2: the side in the forest. And then the last one
[52:52] Speaker 2: I sent you where you can kind of see the
[52:54] Speaker 2: backpack at the edge of it. That one that just
[52:58] Speaker 2: shows you exactly how close we were to that tree line.
[53:02] Speaker 2: I mean, neither one of us saw anything or anything
[53:07] Speaker 2: like that, like, and that was so close, and for
[53:12] Speaker 2: them to be able to be that close to us
[53:14] Speaker 2: and not be detected and to really blend in with
[53:17] Speaker 2: the scenery and everything is just mind boggling. Like to
[53:21] Speaker 2: have them in that area, that's more desert like and
[53:24] Speaker 2: everything kind of blew my mind to begin with. But
[53:27] Speaker 2: to see exactly how close they were to the trails
[53:31] Speaker 2: and to other people and completely seemed, you know, maybe
[53:35] Speaker 2: perturbed that one, you know, with the hand creeping out
[53:38] Speaker 2: in the eyeballs and everything. He looked a little perturbed,
[53:40] Speaker 2: or it looked a little perturbed. But yeah, just to
[53:46] Speaker 2: have them that close to a bunch of people, to
[53:50] Speaker 2: trails that are traveled regularly, just people need to be
[53:59] Speaker 2: more aware.
[54:00] Speaker 1: M absolutely, And I mean see it's and it's especially
[54:07] Speaker 1: you know, this happened in national park. And you know,
[54:11] Speaker 1: my personal belief is that you know, bigfoot is in
[54:17] Speaker 1: our national at least some of them in our national parks.
[54:21] Speaker 1: And that's a whole other discussion in itself, but I mean,
[54:25] Speaker 1: Maseverity National Park. You've got these these photos and and
[54:29] Speaker 1: they're very, very compelling, and it really makes I know
[54:34] Speaker 1: that there's been people that have reported things, you know,
[54:37] Speaker 1: in other places, other national parks like Yosemite. And we
[54:41] Speaker 1: talked to an individual out and I'm blanking, what is it, uh? Wyoming?
[54:50] Speaker 1: What's the Wyoming one? What is it?
[54:52] Speaker 2: What is it?
[54:52] Speaker 1: Uh?
[54:54] Speaker 2: Yellowstone?
[54:55] Speaker 1: Yellow? Yes, to talk to the individual and Yellowstone National
[54:58] Speaker 1: Park that was a worker there and had a had
[55:02] Speaker 1: an encounter. And so you know, I would say from
[55:06] Speaker 1: what I'm talking to people, and you can look at
[55:09] Speaker 1: the reports, they're definitely definitely in our national parks. But yeah,
[55:15] Speaker 1: based on based on what you've experienced in your three
[55:19] Speaker 1: different encounters, do you have any thoughts or feelings about
[55:25] Speaker 1: what you think bigfoot is exactly based on what you've experienced.
[55:33] Speaker 2: I don't think it's one particular thing. I think there
[55:35] Speaker 2: are multiple different types. So some I think are genuinely
[55:44] Speaker 2: flesh and blood creatures that are you know, may maybe
[55:50] Speaker 2: this goes back to the whole gigantopithec history that you know,
[55:54] Speaker 2: gigantopithicists didn't actually go extinct and just found a way
[55:58] Speaker 2: to migrate and adapt and so on. I don't know
[56:03] Speaker 2: exactly if that works or not, but I viewed these
[56:07] Speaker 2: things it's kind of like that, where there their flesh
[56:10] Speaker 2: and blood and that's what they are, like, particularly the
[56:13] Speaker 2: one in mas Verite. Just looking at some of those photos,
[56:18] Speaker 2: like the you know, the female with the infant, really
[56:23] Speaker 2: just struck me as this is just an animal trying
[56:29] Speaker 2: to exist and care for their offspring and whatnot. But
[56:37] Speaker 2: like the encounter that I had on the family land,
[56:43] Speaker 2: that one was dark and that one was that struck
[56:49] Speaker 2: fear into me, which the other two didn't, And that
[56:53] Speaker 2: kind of leads me to, well, what if this had
[56:56] Speaker 2: some other property to it? Because I felt that fear
[57:00] Speaker 2: long before I got to it, and it was one
[57:03] Speaker 2: of those things where I was not in control of
[57:07] Speaker 2: my emotions. Everything was jumbled, everything seemed like to the extremes,
[57:16] Speaker 2: and I feel like that was some form of control
[57:20] Speaker 2: that you wouldn't get with just a normal animal.
[57:28] Speaker 1: It is, it is one. I look at it as
[57:32] Speaker 1: one of the last great mysteries of our world today,
[57:37] Speaker 1: not just our country, but definitely of the world. And
[57:40] Speaker 1: it's a thing where it really makes you wonder what
[57:44] Speaker 1: is going on out there, especially when you have people
[57:47] Speaker 1: like yourself where it affects. It can affect the way
[57:50] Speaker 1: you're feeling in certain areas, how you're reacting, and I mean,
[57:56] Speaker 1: it's just it's wild, wild stuff. Do you ever, do
[58:01] Speaker 1: you wish to have another experience with something out there
[58:05] Speaker 1: or you are are you okay with the ones that
[58:08] Speaker 1: you've had so far?
[58:10] Speaker 2: I think it would depend on the kind of experience
[58:18] Speaker 2: if it if it weren't a hostile experience, and like,
[58:21] Speaker 2: if I could control the type of experience I had,
[58:24] Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind seeing another one it. I could take
[58:27] Speaker 2: it or leave it. I guess is what I would
[58:30] Speaker 2: go with the hostile experience that that's life changing. When
[58:35] Speaker 2: you have one of those where it seems like your
[58:38] Speaker 2: life is actually in danger, you don't you don't want
[58:41] Speaker 2: to experience that again. But when you see things on
[58:45] Speaker 2: a different level, it kind of changes it and it
[58:48] Speaker 2: makes it so it's or, yeah, I could do that again,
[58:52] Speaker 2: I could see that again. But if I never did,
[58:54] Speaker 2: at least I had those experiences, or at least at
[58:57] Speaker 2: least I know that I'm not going crazy or you know,
[59:01] Speaker 2: no matter what anybody says about me or whatever. You know,
[59:06] Speaker 2: anytime I've recounted these tales, that's kind of like the
[59:10] Speaker 2: perspective that I've taken with it is I know what
[59:13] Speaker 2: I saw. I now have evidence of what I saw.
[59:17] Speaker 2: I'm good either.
[59:18] Speaker 1: Way, exactly exactly. No one can take the away from you. Jay.
[59:25] Speaker 1: I just want to say thank you so much for
[59:27] Speaker 1: sharing with us your experiences over the years. I want
[59:31] Speaker 1: to make sure that you were able to share everything
[59:34] Speaker 1: that you wanted to share on the show today.
[59:37] Speaker 2: I think I have.
[59:38] Speaker 1: Thank you awesome, awesome. Well, definitely do keep us in
[59:44] Speaker 1: the little bit. If something does happen in the future
[59:47] Speaker 1: when you're out hiking or in different areas, we would
[59:49] Speaker 1: love to hear about it. But thank you again for
[59:53] Speaker 1: spending some time with us tonight sharing what your experiences
[59:57] Speaker 1: have been over the years.
[59:59] Speaker 2: Well, thank you for happing me. Jeremmar.
[1:00:03] Speaker 1: Have you ever heard all the accounts of bigfoot activity
[1:00:06] Speaker 1: around Oakridge, Oregon and you think to yourself, Man, I
[1:00:09] Speaker 1: would love to get out in those woods and experience
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: it for myself. Well, guess what this year you can.
[1:00:17] Speaker 1: If this is interesting to you, stay tuned because it's
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: pretty cool. Sasquatch Summer Fest is coming up July tenth
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: through the eleventh, twenty twenty six. It's going to be
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: even better than the previous year's reason number one, I'll
[1:00:33] Speaker 1: be one of the speakers. It's gonna be wild. I'll
[1:00:36] Speaker 1: probably I'll say this, there may be stuff you haven't
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: heard anywhere else, because let's just say sometimes it's well,
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: you just got to be there. We'll leave at that.
[1:00:50] Speaker 1: More about looking for Bigfoot in the Oakridge Woods. Now
[1:00:53] Speaker 1: check this out. You may know Jason Kenzie from his
[1:00:58] Speaker 1: documentary series Searching for SASQUATCHU. Well, this year you can
[1:01:03] Speaker 1: not only go to the festival, but you can also
[1:01:07] Speaker 1: sign up for a track deep in the wild forest
[1:01:13] Speaker 1: outside of Oakridge with Jason Kenzie to the Bigfoot spots
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: to look for Bigfoot. There's only eight spots to sign
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: up for this, and yes, this will also be filmed
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: for the next chapter in his documentary series, which is
[1:01:29] Speaker 1: Searching for Sasquatch. This is a once in a lifetime deal.
[1:01:32] Speaker 1: It's just it's going to be a wild, wild experience.
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: To get a ticket, head on over to Sasquatch Summerfest
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: dot com and listeners can use the code b sp

[1:01:53] Speaker 1: So thanks to Priscilla for giving me that code so
[1:01:58] Speaker 1: that you guys can can get a little help with
[1:02:05] Speaker 1: the cost there. Appreciate that, Priscilla. I hope to see
[1:02:08] Speaker 1: you at the booth in Oakridge this year. We can
[1:02:12] Speaker 1: talk about your encounter. Was able to talk to so
[1:02:15] Speaker 1: many people last year and the year before. It is
[1:02:18] Speaker 1: an incredible time. You're not going to want to miss it,
[1:02:21] Speaker 1: and I'll see you there before we wrap this episode.
[1:02:26] Speaker 1: I want to say something directly to a very specific
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: group of listeners. If you're in the military, any branch
[1:02:32] Speaker 1: or forces, and if you've seen something that no one
[1:02:35] Speaker 1: can explain, or if you're a National park ranger or
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: forestryt worker who's been told to stay quiet, or if
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: you're a pilot who's seen something strange down on the ground,
[1:02:46] Speaker 1: or if you're with the FBI a federal agency, or
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: working intelligence and you stumbled upon something you're not allowed
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: to talk about. And if you're a firefighter, paramedic, or
[1:02:55] Speaker 1: search and rescue responder who's heard screams or found tracks
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: that didn't make sense. If you're in the logging industry
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: on a remote oil field, or a trucker with government
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: contracts and you've had something happen that you've never told
[1:03:10] Speaker 1: a soul. And if you're a biologist, a wildlife specialist,
[1:03:13] Speaker 1: or a field researcher under contract who has found evidence
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: you're not allowed to report. If you're a pastor, a missionary,
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: or someone on a spiritual retreat and you saw something
[1:03:24] Speaker 1: that shook your faith, or if you work in the shadows, CIA,
[1:03:28] Speaker 1: NSA or anything with clearance and you've seen what the
[1:03:31] Speaker 1: public hasn't, then I want to talk to you, even
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: if it's anonymous. You can reach me at Bigfoot Society
[1:03:41] Speaker 1: at gmail dot com. The world needs to hear what
[1:03:44] Speaker 1: you've been forced to carry alone, and you're not alone.

[1:03:54] Speaker 1: in the ws. Thank you for listening to this episode
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: of the Bigfoot Society podcast. Every encounter we share remind
