[0:34] Speaker 1: and have a good one.
[0:36] Speaker 2: My first encounter with anything, aside from the idea itself,
[0:40] Speaker 2: was a footprint in Jhalis, BC that had been marked
[0:49] Speaker 2: out in the snow with sticks that was as long
[0:53] Speaker 2: as my shin. I then encountered footprints in the snow again,
[1:00] Speaker 2: fresh footprints around the same area. And one morning I
[1:05] Speaker 2: went to Chilliwac River Valley and I was washing my
[1:10] Speaker 2: face in a creek. To get to that creek, you
[1:13] Speaker 2: walk by a Douglas fir down a short slope and
[1:16] Speaker 2: it's probably about fifteen feet away from the base of
[1:19] Speaker 2: the tree, and it's in a campground, so the branches
[1:22] Speaker 2: are cut up way high, so you can get an
[1:24] Speaker 2: ARV in there easily. It was the winter. It was morning,
[1:30] Speaker 2: well lit winter morning in the Fraser Valley of BC.
[1:37] Speaker 2: I was washing my face and I turned and I
[1:39] Speaker 2: looked over my shoulder to where I'd come past the
[1:41] Speaker 2: Douglas Fir and the only thing I could the simplest
[1:44] Speaker 2: description I could give was Chewbacca's grandfather was standing next
[1:48] Speaker 2: to the tree and its head was probably eight I
[1:53] Speaker 2: would say, perhaps six inches below the bottom branch on
[1:56] Speaker 2: the tree.
[1:57] Speaker 3: My best friend's husband was passing away. It was around Thanksgiving,
[2:02] Speaker 3: Canadian Thanksgiving, so it's like, I'm gonna say, the fourteenth
[2:06] Speaker 3: of October, I was driving down so I'm in Toronto
[2:11] Speaker 3: and my best friend moved to New Brunswick. I love
[2:15] Speaker 3: driving through the States, so I was like, I'm gonna
[2:18] Speaker 3: do it a quicker route. It's only like fifteen hours
[2:22] Speaker 3: rather than doing eighteen through Canada. And who wants to
[2:25] Speaker 3: drive through Quebec, right, But I was like, why not?
[2:30] Speaker 3: And I can stop at like all my favorite fast
[2:32] Speaker 3: food restaurants. So it was like five thirty in the
[2:37] Speaker 3: morning and I'm leaving New Brunswick to come back home
[2:41] Speaker 3: and everyone's like telling me, oh, watch out for moose,
[2:44] Speaker 3: watch out for moose, and like there's signs and stuff everywhere,
[2:47] Speaker 3: and it's like pitch black and it's foggy, and I'm like,
[2:50] Speaker 3: all right, all right, I'll watch, and sure enough, it
[2:53] Speaker 3: was like an actual bigfoot. And I remember being freaked
[2:57] Speaker 3: out because I'm already on edge looking for moose and
[3:00] Speaker 3: they have those like cardboard cutouts on the side of
[3:03] Speaker 3: the road, so you're like anticipating something, but this is
[3:07] Speaker 3: like not what you're thinking. And I stopped so like
[3:10] Speaker 3: I'm like maybe ten feet away from it, and it
[3:12] Speaker 3: literally stood at the road and like stared at me,
[3:16] Speaker 3: and I'm like, is this happening? Like I was so scared,
[3:19] Speaker 3: but at the same time it felt like so surreal,
[3:23] Speaker 3: but like the energy wasn't like terrifying. It was more
[3:26] Speaker 3: like curious, but like you could see like the steam
[3:30] Speaker 3: coming from like its breath and it's standing there.
[3:32] Speaker 4: I think my last one was it was turning down here.
[3:38] Speaker 4: You can see this tree tree lining coming out of
[3:41] Speaker 4: the sunrise. And I was having a really rough night,
[3:45] Speaker 4: so I was outside and I can hear knocking on
[3:48] Speaker 4: a tree and then I heard one like maybe a
[3:52] Speaker 4: half a mile away knocking like they were knocking to
[3:55] Speaker 4: each other, but where I was knocked, the also went
[4:00] Speaker 4: to me. There was two different knocks, so I think
[4:04] Speaker 4: they were like little ones or something. But we're knocking
[4:09] Speaker 4: back and forth. I would knock on a tree and
[4:11] Speaker 4: they'd knock back to me, and then I'd knock on
[4:13] Speaker 4: the tree and we did it back and forth for
[4:16] Speaker 4: a minute, and then I kind of got curious. So
[4:19] Speaker 4: I walked up to my neighbor's house and I was
[4:22] Speaker 4: sitting on the tree or on her car because we
[4:24] Speaker 4: were close friends, so I knew she wouldn't mind. And
[4:28] Speaker 4: the noise stopped, but I was like sorry, started walking
[4:34] Speaker 4: back to my house because I didn't want to spend
[4:35] Speaker 4: too much time by the woods by myself. And when
[4:40] Speaker 4: I was walking, it sounded like they picked up a
[4:43] Speaker 4: handful of rocks and it landed in the parking lot
[4:46] Speaker 4: or like the someone's driveway, like the rocks kind of
[4:50] Speaker 4: sprayed onto the ground. And then I looked and I
[4:54] Speaker 4: was like, I heard that. So I got into my
[4:56] Speaker 4: car and I could drive back there. So I drove
[4:58] Speaker 4: back into the old growth. I always thought something was
[5:01] Speaker 4: happening back there because there was like structures back there,
[5:05] Speaker 4: different trees and formations, like just weird out of the
[5:10] Speaker 4: ordinary trees. But I drove back there and I sat
[5:14] Speaker 4: back there for a little while. I brought all my
[5:15] Speaker 4: apples that I had. I had a sun roof, so
[5:20] Speaker 4: I sat in the sun roof. I smiled big, I
[5:23] Speaker 4: sang them the ABC's, and then I ate an apple
[5:26] Speaker 4: to show them that it was edible. Little rocks were
[5:30] Speaker 4: coming out of that weird structure that I couldn't see,
[5:32] Speaker 4: but there were big blueberry bushes, so I really couldn't
[5:34] Speaker 4: see in it, but rocks were hitting my car coming
[5:37] Speaker 4: from that area. I just kind of got out, and
[5:43] Speaker 4: when you get out, you can see that there's a
[5:44] Speaker 4: bunch of cedar trees that was peeled off the tree.
[5:49] Speaker 4: And so I left the apples right there, and I
[5:51] Speaker 4: left about six or seven of them. And then the
[5:54] Speaker 4: very next day I went there and the apples were gone,
[5:58] Speaker 4: and you can tell there was more cedar peaceled off
[6:00] Speaker 4: the tree. Things were messed around with the branches. And
[6:06] Speaker 4: that was my That was the initiation of me like
[6:10] Speaker 4: feeling like they were close by, you know, they weren't
[6:13] Speaker 4: just in the random woods in the mountains. They're like
[6:15] Speaker 4: in my backyard.
[6:16] Speaker 5: I'm from Florida, and a friend of mine had an
[6:19] Speaker 5: experience in English, Florida up near the coast, just up
[6:24] Speaker 5: north of Crystal River, and he he said that he
[6:28] Speaker 5: had a camera footage of where you could see eighteen
[6:34] Speaker 5: inch long footprints with with the toes buried deep down,
[6:42] Speaker 5: like it was squatted down on the toes, and he
[6:45] Speaker 5: said that it was wrapped. It had its hand wrapped
[6:48] Speaker 5: around a palm at a bush and was pulling up
[6:52] Speaker 5: on the palm at a bush to get to the
[6:54] Speaker 5: We call it swamp cabbage. It's the roots at the bottom,
[6:57] Speaker 5: at the bottom of the heart of palm. He doesn't
[7:00] Speaker 5: have a footage of it doing it. He had a
[7:02] Speaker 5: footage of the aftermath where he found that, and I
[7:09] Speaker 5: never seen the footage, but so I didn't believe him.
[7:13] Speaker 5: He was known to kind of have tails, you know.
[7:19] Speaker 5: And so I went out there and I camped with
[7:21] Speaker 5: my brother in the area, and we didn't really bring
[7:24] Speaker 5: anything special. We just brought the tent a couple of
[7:28] Speaker 5: cans of soup. And it was raining that night, so
[7:32] Speaker 5: we didn't start a fire, and we were laying there
[7:35] Speaker 5: in the tent around about two o'clock in the morning,
[7:38] Speaker 5: we started hearing rustling outside of the tent and we
[7:42] Speaker 5: would hear something sounded like it slapped the ground, and
[7:45] Speaker 5: then it would run probably about twelve to fifteen feet
[7:49] Speaker 5: and slap the ground again. And it did that about
[7:52] Speaker 5: three or four times, and my brother wanted to go
[7:55] Speaker 5: out there. We're just kids, teenagers, and my brother wanted
[7:59] Speaker 5: to go out there and see what it was. But
[8:02] Speaker 5: all that we had, we didn't have cell phones back then.
[8:06] Speaker 5: All that we had was just these dull flashlights.
[8:10] Speaker 6: I'm First Nation here in Canada and Ontario. I grew
[8:14] Speaker 6: up on reserves. Most of my life, traveled to lots
[8:18] Speaker 6: of them. As a lot of people know, reserves are
[8:21] Speaker 6: really small communities in Canada where First Nation people live. Anyways,
[8:29] Speaker 6: I like to say I lived a traditional life, spiritual
[8:32] Speaker 6: life throughout my life, and ceremonies, dancing, singing, drumming, all
[8:38] Speaker 6: that stuff did on a regular basis. So I got
[8:43] Speaker 6: some pretty interesting stories. Well share the one. So where
[8:49] Speaker 6: my house was located on the reserve, I was about
[8:52] Speaker 6: twenty five minutes on foot from the main village, so
[8:58] Speaker 6: every day I would have to walk, you know, twenty
[9:01] Speaker 6: five minutes half hour.
[9:04] Speaker 7: Some nights, oh, by the way.
[9:06] Speaker 6: No street lights, barely any traffic, very dark road, very
[9:11] Speaker 6: very dark road. There were some nights where I would
[9:15] Speaker 6: hear lots of stuff in the forest and this is
[9:19] Speaker 6: all old growth forest.
[9:23] Speaker 7: Because reserves are so I say it very rule.
[9:29] Speaker 6: There's barely anyone around, so it's either animals or something else.
[9:35] Speaker 6: So the one night walking home, probably midnight, I give
[9:40] Speaker 6: you take one, you know, steady pace walking very very dark.
[9:48] Speaker 6: Moonlight was out so you can see the road very well,
[9:52] Speaker 6: but forest very dark. Anyways, I know everyone gets that
[9:57] Speaker 6: feeling when you're being watched and you just know it,
[10:01] Speaker 6: and you know, you feel your hairs on your arms.
[10:04] Speaker 6: You just know something was watching you. You just feel
[10:08] Speaker 6: it deep in down in your heart and.
[10:13] Speaker 7: Kind of like a fear pots where you know where
[10:18] Speaker 7: something is.
[10:19] Speaker 6: And I swear to this day, man, whatever this thing was,
[10:24] Speaker 6: man the least you know, eight nine feet tall, maybe bigger.
[10:29] Speaker 7: This thing was just staring at me on the rock.
[10:32] Speaker 6: And you know, walking down the road there was this
[10:34] Speaker 6: rock shed and there was a very wide opening where
[10:37] Speaker 6: it can stand perfectly still and you could see anything there.
[10:42] Speaker 7: My heart dropped.
[10:46] Speaker 6: And then something clicked on me where running wasn't an option,
[10:52] Speaker 6: but slowly saying I'm friendly, I'm going to continue on
[10:57] Speaker 6: my way. I have school tomorrow, and almost like I
[11:02] Speaker 6: could see its eyes, and I swear to this day,
[11:08] Speaker 6: whatever this thing was, I strongly believe in these bigger spirits,
[11:13] Speaker 6: these entities that live in the forest on reserves, and
[11:20] Speaker 6: just that night alone was one of the most scariest
[11:23] Speaker 6: things ever. The next night rolled into a Saturday, me
[11:27] Speaker 6: and my friends walking back, same area, same time, at night.
[11:32] Speaker 7: Very dark, and the roar.
[11:38] Speaker 6: That we heard from that same location, the screen roar
[11:44] Speaker 6: was so unique. It drove that same fear straight in
[11:48] Speaker 6: all our spines. And none of us ever heard that
[11:55] Speaker 6: kind of roar noise, but I do compare to a
[11:59] Speaker 6: lot of audio recordings I've heard over the internet and everything.
[12:04] Speaker 7: So we all start running
