[0:00] Speaker 1: You're listening to Bigfoot Society, and I'm Jeremiah Byron. In
[0:03] Speaker 1: this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring
[0:05] Speaker 1: you firsthand encounters from people who say they've seen something impossible.
[0:10] Speaker 1: From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to quiet farms
[0:13] Speaker 1: and crowded highways, the stories come from everywhere, and each
[0:17] Speaker 1: one leaves us with more questions than answers. These are
[0:21] Speaker 1: the voices of the people who've lived it. So settle
[0:24] Speaker 1: in because today you'll hear another account that just might
[0:28] Speaker 1: change the way you see the woods forever.
[0:30] Speaker 2: So stay with us.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Please keep Jeremiah in your prayers as he continues his
[0:34] Speaker 1: fight against cancer. For more updates about his medical journey,
[0:38] Speaker 1: please go to the CaringBridge link in the show notes.
[0:42] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[0:43] Speaker 2: You'll hear beeps every once in a while because it's
[0:46] Speaker 2: an Apple thing. So can I say that you're, so
[0:49] Speaker 2: does Kai Water... uh, Ralph, right. And we talked like
[0:54] Speaker 2: years ago.
[0:55] Speaker 3: This is like, yeah. I was like one of your first,
[0:58] Speaker 3: first few people. Yeah.
[1:02] Speaker 2: And you were like, look out, it's going to get crazy.
[1:08] Speaker 3: I remember this is going back to 1999. I remember
[1:13] Speaker 3: calling Jeff Meldrum and asking him for the phone numbers of, uh, uh,
[1:19] Speaker 3: Renee to hand in and for Grover Krantz. And he
[1:23] Speaker 3: was just like, Oh my God, Renee hung up on me.
[1:25] Speaker 3: That guy won't talk to me anymore. And, uh, you know,
[1:29] Speaker 3: and so, and I, and I, I remembered watching the documentary, uh,
[1:33] Speaker 3: what was it? Sasquatch Odyssey where he's talking about, he's
[1:37] Speaker 3: talking about eating cheap steaks and smoking cheap cigars. And, uh,
[1:42] Speaker 3: And I was like a single bachelor in my 20s,
[1:44] Speaker 3: and I just bonded on him about our cheap cigars
[1:48] Speaker 3: and our cheap steaks. That's awesome. And how we cook
[1:50] Speaker 3: them and stuff, you know?
[1:52] Speaker 2: So you had the opportunity to watch another historical documentary
[2:00] Speaker 2: last night.
[2:01] Speaker 3: Last night.
[2:02] Speaker 2: And I'm catching you between movies, because you're a movie guy,
[2:06] Speaker 2: so we got you for a few minutes.
[2:08] Speaker 3: What was your.
[2:10] Speaker 2: man, I mean, don't give it away, but, like, what
[2:12] Speaker 2: was it like, and what were the people there like, and, well, it.
[2:16] Speaker 3: Was interesting, because San Francisco, they're more of documentary, uh,
[2:21] Speaker 3: watchers versus what the subjects are, so I would say
[2:26] Speaker 3: there was a handful of Bigfooters in the audience, um,
[2:31] Speaker 3: you know, but maybe there was, like, I, um, one,
[2:34] Speaker 3: one fella who's I can't remember his handle right now,
[2:37] Speaker 3: but he asked a really good question at the Q
[2:40] Speaker 3: & A. And then there was Daniel Perez. I sat
[2:42] Speaker 3: next to Daniel Perez, or at least two seats down. Oh, nice.
[2:46] Speaker 3: And then a whole bunch of people that were like,
[2:48] Speaker 3: maybe like, you know, couch-loving Bigfooters, you know. Right. Who
[2:54] Speaker 3: had read the, maybe they read their books, you know.
[2:58] Speaker 3: Because it was $ 20 to get in. Oh my goodness,
[3:01] Speaker 3: what a deal. Yeah. They put your phone in a
[3:05] Speaker 3: phone case thing so you can't use it or record
[3:07] Speaker 3: it during the movie. Like a little phone prison thing.
[3:14] Speaker 3: But the film itself was far more impressive than I
[3:20] Speaker 3: ever thought that it was going to be. These filmmakers
[3:24] Speaker 3: did such an outstanding job researching. They did such an
[3:29] Speaker 3: outstanding job finding footage that no one had probably ever
[3:33] Speaker 3: seen that belonged to the Patterson family. Um, Clint Patterson, uh, uh,
[3:39] Speaker 3: Roger's son was there. He did the Q and a, and, um,
[3:44] Speaker 3: I can't unveil anything, you know, it's kind of like, uh,
[3:49] Speaker 3: it's ironic. Cause I'm about to go see a Hitchcock
[3:51] Speaker 3: movie right now. And the whole thing with Hitchcock was
[3:55] Speaker 3: he used to have in the beginning of his films.
[3:56] Speaker 3: He's like, do not talk to your friends about this movie.
[3:59] Speaker 3: Let them experience for the first time on their own. Absolutely. And,
[4:03] Speaker 3: you know, kind of like the crying game, too, which
[4:05] Speaker 3: I never saw, but it has that twist at the
[4:07] Speaker 3: end that you kind of bite your lip after you
[4:09] Speaker 3: see it. But I got home at, like, 10.30 last night,
[4:14] Speaker 3: and I stayed up till midnight thinking about it. And
[4:17] Speaker 3: then I woke up at 5 this morning thinking about it,
[4:19] Speaker 3: and I'm like, I just can't wait to talk with
[4:21] Speaker 3: someone else who sees it. Right. You know? And it
[4:27] Speaker 3: was interesting. I talked to the filmmaker afterwards, and for me, like, my...
[4:32] Speaker 3: my thoughts towards the Patterson Gimlin film. Uh, I believe
[4:38] Speaker 3: in Bigfoot, but I have, I have never been a
[4:41] Speaker 3: believer in that film. And so it's really interesting because
[4:46] Speaker 3: there's like a number of us, right? Like I know
[4:48] Speaker 3: a couple of other folks that believe in Bigfoot fully,
[4:52] Speaker 3: but don't believe in that footage. But we, we dare
[4:55] Speaker 3: not say that because the Bigfoot community would just pounce
[4:58] Speaker 3: on us. Right. Right. Um, and discredit us or, or whatever,
[5:02] Speaker 3: you know? And I, I think I'm pretty off the
[5:04] Speaker 3: radar now that no one knows my name, so it's okay. Um, but, um,
[5:09] Speaker 3: but it was, it was pretty amazing. Uh, the mystery
[5:14] Speaker 3: footage they got and everything else. I mean, it's this
[5:17] Speaker 3: story of Clinton and the Patterson family and, uh, and everything.
[5:25] Speaker 2: It's from what I've seen so far, which is not
[5:27] Speaker 2: a lot. It's, it's very, I heard a quote from
[5:30] Speaker 2: Mark Evans where he's like, my two main goals are
[5:33] Speaker 2: to make, I want to say he said, to make
[5:36] Speaker 2: you laugh and to make you cry.
[5:38] Speaker 3: Oh, you do.
[5:39] Speaker 2: And I could easily see how this does it from
[5:43] Speaker 2: what I've seen. It's incredible. So you still believe in
[5:49] Speaker 2: Bigfoot the same way that you did before going into
[5:52] Speaker 2: that documentary, it sounds like?
[5:54] Speaker 1: Oh, 100%.
[5:54] Speaker 3: There was nothing... I mean, for me, it was really
[5:58] Speaker 3: interesting for me, my reasons against believing in the Patterson
[6:02] Speaker 3: Gimlin film. Ironically, the three reasons why I have a
[6:08] Speaker 3: hard time with it weren't even mentioned in the documentary.
[6:11] Speaker 3: But the thing is, I think that they have so
[6:13] Speaker 3: much extra footage, you know, whenever they release it on
[6:17] Speaker 3: a Blu-ray, it's going to, you know, they're going to
[6:19] Speaker 3: have a whole bunch of bells and whistles and yada, yada. Um, but, um,
[6:25] Speaker 3: But anyways, it was just done really good. The two
[6:28] Speaker 3: guys who filmed it were just honest, nice guys, how
[6:33] Speaker 3: they did it, for the most part. I mean, they
[6:35] Speaker 3: did a little sneaky stuff where they had the mystery footage,
[6:39] Speaker 3: and then they filmed all of the people and their
[6:42] Speaker 3: beliefs before they showed them the mystery footage so they
[6:44] Speaker 3: could get their gut reactions and stuff, you know? Smart. Yeah,
[6:50] Speaker 3: and that's kind of like some documentary filmmakers But it
[6:57] Speaker 3: was pretty... I'll just say this. It was like every
[7:04] Speaker 3: kid at some point in their life... Can you still
[7:07] Speaker 3: hear me? Yes. Every kid at some point in their
[7:11] Speaker 3: life either finds their mom putting the dollar bill underneath
[7:18] Speaker 3: the pillow and pulling the tooth or sees the aunt
[7:22] Speaker 3: hiding the Easter eggs. Or sees dad putting a present
[7:26] Speaker 3: and in the morning seeing that present was the present
[7:29] Speaker 3: that says from Santa. And then the Rubik's Cube sort
[7:34] Speaker 3: of starts working, right? And you start solving one side
[7:38] Speaker 3: and then another side. And all four sides, oh, actually
[7:42] Speaker 3: it's more than four sides. I don't know how many
[7:44] Speaker 3: sides there are. Six, eight to a Rubik's Cube. Pretty
[7:47] Speaker 3: much you see them all. And it just makes me
[7:53] Speaker 3: think about a lot of things, but it's really good.
[7:55] Speaker 3: I mean, it's really, it's done really good. It's you're not,
[7:58] Speaker 3: you're crying because of the family dynamics of the family.
[8:02] Speaker 3: You're laughing because the characters, I mean, it's they're, they're
[8:08] Speaker 3: cussing up a storm and it's hilarious. And, and there's
[8:12] Speaker 3: so many, there's so many good recordings of Renee to
[8:14] Speaker 3: hand in that. You're just like, Oh my God, the
[8:19] Speaker 3: Bigfoot community. really needed that guy because he was he
[8:23] Speaker 3: was so uh oh sorry i'm blowing up right now
[8:27] Speaker 3: he was so hilarious you know.
[8:30] Speaker 2: Oh yeah very very the wild gentleman i am excited
[8:35] Speaker 2: because supposedly there's a one second cameo my old friend
[8:38] Speaker 2: ronnie roseman from oak ridge who's an old school bigfooter
[8:42] Speaker 2: from the 90s.
[8:44] Speaker 3: Yeah i sent a message to ronnie right after oh
[8:46] Speaker 3: really yeah but he's like, he always has like a
[8:49] Speaker 3: burner phone. So I'm like, so I put a thing
[8:54] Speaker 3: on a like Facebook forum.
[8:56] Speaker 4: Um, you know, he always has a different phone and
[8:58] Speaker 4: we're like, Ronnie, Ronnie cameo.
[9:02] Speaker 3: Exactly.
[9:03] Speaker 4: I almost want to, I almost think that I was
[9:05] Speaker 4: there that night.
[9:07] Speaker 3: Uh, cause that was at a Western Bigfoot, um, uh, Western,
[9:12] Speaker 3: Western Bigfoot society, uh, in Portland. Is it the night
[9:17] Speaker 3: where Greg.
[9:18] Speaker 2: Long was presenting?
[9:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
[9:22] Speaker 5: And I feel like I was at that event because
[9:25] Speaker 5: me and Ronnie went from there across to the bar
[9:28] Speaker 5: where there was like a funny Beatles cover band, but
[9:31] Speaker 5: it was in Vietnamese or something.
[9:33] Speaker 3: And we went back and forth having cocktails. That night
[9:36] Speaker 3: I ended up making out with this girl who was
[9:39] Speaker 3: the niece of Jackie O.
[9:42] Speaker 4: She looked just like Jackie O.
[9:44] Speaker 3: And her last two, her last boyfriend and husband, both
[9:48] Speaker 3: of them were serial killers. I was like, it was weird.
[9:51] Speaker 2: But I mean, that's pretty wild.
[9:55] Speaker 3: Yeah you can hear Ray talking or at least saying
[9:58] Speaker 3: something I was texting with Cliff this morning I'm like
[10:02] Speaker 3: oh you gotta see it but he's got plans.
[10:03] Speaker 2: I'm like I'm sure he does yeah and you know
[10:09] Speaker 2: did they have merch there at all oh.
[10:12] Speaker 3: Yeah they got a whole bunch of no way but
[10:14] Speaker 3: I didn't really see anyone buying it you know they
[10:16] Speaker 3: had that's terrible Yeah, I mean, some people bought some stuff.
[10:21] Speaker 3: They had, like, they had capturing Bigfoot, everything, like, shirts
[10:27] Speaker 3: and stuff. And they had, like, the head of the
[10:30] Speaker 3: Bigfoot from, you know, Do a Bombal Snowman of America
[10:33] Speaker 3: Really Exist? You know, that was the head, that head
[10:36] Speaker 3: that's on the.
[10:37] Speaker 4: Cover of that book.
[10:38] Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, on something you could buy?
[10:40] Speaker 4: On something you could buy, yeah.
[10:43] Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness, dude.
[10:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, so they had, you know, some chalk keys and stuff.
[10:48] Speaker 3: Yeah both of the filmmakers were really really nice and
[10:52] Speaker 3: i talked to them i said you know i was
[10:55] Speaker 3: i was at a couple i was at the 2003
[10:57] Speaker 3: symposium in willow creek i was also at the opening
[11:02] Speaker 3: of the china flat museum like i don't know it
[11:04] Speaker 3: was like maybe a few years before and they were
[11:06] Speaker 3: both in the documentary and.
[11:09] Speaker 4: Uh you know i saw some familiar faces you know.
[11:12] Speaker 3: Going back 24 years ago 21 years ago we all
[11:16] Speaker 3: you know, I was like, Oh wow. I remember talking
[11:19] Speaker 3: to that guy and I remember seeing, you know, um,
[11:22] Speaker 3: I remember when Bob was there and he was giving
[11:24] Speaker 3: the speech in the, you know, it was like hotter
[11:27] Speaker 3: than blazes inside this giant auditorium. But, uh, but the
[11:32] Speaker 3: whole thing is put together really good as far as
[11:34] Speaker 3: the documentary goes, as far as the research, finding old
[11:38] Speaker 3: footage and then not only finding old footage, but actually
[11:41] Speaker 3: getting it transferred where it was a really good job. Um, Yeah.
[11:48] Speaker 2: I'm excited to see it.
[11:50] Speaker 4: Oh, you're going to love it.
[11:51] Speaker 3: I think I can't wait.
[11:52] Speaker 2: I can't wait. I heard about history stuff with this.
[11:55] Speaker 4: So, oh yeah, it's, it's mind boggling.
[11:58] Speaker 3: It's so, so good.
[11:59] Speaker 4: I mean, anyone who's in a Bigfoot has to see it.
[12:01] Speaker 3: Right. Right. Exactly. Yeah.
[12:04] Speaker 2: Um, was this your first time talking to Clint Patterson?
[12:07] Speaker 4: Um, I didn't even talk to him. I think I,
[12:11] Speaker 4: maybe I trick his about it. Um, yeah, but I didn't,
[12:15] Speaker 4: I didn't talk to them.
[12:16] Speaker 3: Uh, Daniel Perez, he talked, he too is talking with them. Um, right.
[12:22] Speaker 2: Sure.
[12:23] Speaker 3: So, and Daniel Perez is, it was very interesting. Like, uh,
[12:27] Speaker 3: I mean, I don't, I, there's not so much, I
[12:28] Speaker 3: can't say too much.
[12:29] Speaker 4: Cause right.
[12:30] Speaker 2: You know, I don't want to give it away. Yeah.
[12:32] Speaker 4: I don't want to give it away.
[12:33] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[12:33] Speaker 3: And everyone's like Daniel's thoughts after the movie were just
[12:37] Speaker 3: like mine, you know? And I, I needed the process.
[12:40] Speaker 3: You want to go get some dinner? And he's just like,
[12:41] Speaker 3: I need to be here, you know? And I was just, yeah, I,
[12:45] Speaker 3: had a, wanted to talk to someone who had seen it.
[12:48] Speaker 4: It's, it's really, it's pretty.
[12:50] Speaker 2: It's intense.
[12:52] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
[12:53] Speaker 5: Wow.
[12:54] Speaker 4: And you feel warm after you're done watching.
[12:57] Speaker 2: Oh, oh, you, so it's not like a, like, like this. Okay.
[13:03] Speaker 3: Oh, cool.
[13:04] Speaker 4: Oh, there's a, there's a, yeah, there's a little bit.
[13:08] Speaker 3: Well, I wouldn't say it's a, but you're just more
[13:10] Speaker 3: like astonished.
[13:11] Speaker 4: Like what you're saying.
[13:12] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
[13:13] Speaker 1: Yeah. Sure.
[13:13] Speaker 3: Sure.
[13:14] Speaker 1: Okay.
[13:14] Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, the things that these guys, these filmmakers,
[13:18] Speaker 3: they had this mystery footage for probably a few years.
[13:24] Speaker 3: And they were sitting on this thing. I mean, they just.
[13:26] Speaker 4: Really rolled it out secretly and waited. And it was
[13:31] Speaker 4: really interesting.
[13:32] Speaker 3: And the filmmaker, you know, he was just like, I
[13:35] Speaker 3: don't know where these conspiracies happen. You know, he's like
[13:37] Speaker 3: people saying that, you know, this thing. we're going to
[13:40] Speaker 3: use AI. And I, I personally thought they were going
[13:43] Speaker 3: to use AI, you know, in it. So they didn't. Yeah.
[13:46] Speaker 3: And he's just like, well, thinking that we were AI,
[13:49] Speaker 3: there was like a rumor that Rob Lowe, like produced
[13:52] Speaker 3: the movie. What?
[13:54] Speaker 2: Rob Lowe? How did he get involved in this?
[13:57] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[13:57] Speaker 4: There was no connection. Yeah. Daniel Perez, obviously he's like
[14:03] Speaker 4: great journalists.
[14:04] Speaker 3: Like he nailed them with a couple of good questions
[14:06] Speaker 3: for the Q and a afterwards.
[14:08] Speaker 2: Good, good, good, good.
[14:10] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[14:11] Speaker 2: I hope, uh, I know Brian King sharp was going
[14:13] Speaker 2: to try to record that. I hope he was able to,
[14:15] Speaker 2: and I'm sure it'll be out on his channel, but
[14:18] Speaker 2: hopefully that was able to happen.
[14:20] Speaker 4: Brian's from, is he from North Carolina?
[14:23] Speaker 3: Yes.
[14:23] Speaker 2: That's from a Sasquatch odyssey podcast.
[14:26] Speaker 3: Yeah. So he was there, he was like in the
[14:28] Speaker 3: second or third row and he asked a couple of
[14:30] Speaker 3: good questions before Daniel.
[14:32] Speaker 4: Um, yeah, I didn't get the chance to meet him.
[14:34] Speaker 3: I wish I did. I seem like a real nice guy.
[14:36] Speaker 3: I follow him on computer land. Um, And so it'll
[14:41] Speaker 3: be interesting. And, you know, when you find out about
[14:45] Speaker 3: Santa Claus, you want to you want to you want
[14:49] Speaker 3: to still believe.
[14:49] Speaker 4: And then you say, yeah, you got to.
[14:51] Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, you can't take all the magic away.
[14:54] Speaker 3: Right.
[14:54] Speaker 2: And and that's a whole discussion in itself. I lean
[14:58] Speaker 2: more towards the First Nations accounts. And like, that's what
[15:01] Speaker 2: really drives me. You know what I'm saying?
[15:04] Speaker 3: Like, oh, yeah, like I mean, yeah. we saw one
[15:07] Speaker 3: who never believed in it before. And, uh, you know,
[15:11] Speaker 3: I mean, I, I'm a, I'm a strong believer. Um,
[15:15] Speaker 3: but I always think it's important. Just like Sherlock Holmes,
[15:17] Speaker 3: you know, you gotta find out what goes in the
[15:20] Speaker 3: cookie mix.
[15:21] Speaker 4: You know, for sure, man, for sure.
[15:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
[15:26] Speaker 2: It is we we gotta talk again even even to
[15:29] Speaker 2: just catch up because it's been years and years and
[15:31] Speaker 2: it's so good to talk to you again is there
[15:33] Speaker 2: anything you've got going on that you want to plug
[15:35] Speaker 2: are you still like the head dude of curiosity hill or.
[15:39] Speaker 4: Oh yeah confusion hill sorry confusion hill nothing to plug
[15:44] Speaker 4: i'm gonna i'm going to japan in.
[15:46] Speaker 3: A few weeks to go to a uh yokai festival
[15:50] Speaker 3: which is this uh they're interesting like uh spirits that
[15:53] Speaker 3: ran out all the villagers in the 40s So they
[15:57] Speaker 3: all come back and they have a festival for the
[15:58] Speaker 3: spirits once a year.

[16:01] Speaker 3: And then we're storing a 1938 wishing well in the

[16:08] Speaker 4: But this weekend, this.
[16:09] Speaker 3: Saturday, I'm putting on an international vampire film festival at
[16:13] Speaker 3: a 100-year-old movie theater that's haunted. So that'll be kind
[16:17] Speaker 3: of fun this weekend.
[16:19] Speaker 2: You're the coolest dude, man. No one knows who you are.
[16:23] Speaker 3: I love it. I love it, dude.
[16:25] Speaker 2: I have to link to the first interview we did

[16:30] Speaker 2: good stuff, man. I appreciate you taking some time out
[16:33] Speaker 2: of your night. And I hope that the Hitchcock film is,
[16:36] Speaker 2: of course, a good time coming up.
[16:38] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. It's the bird. So he's probably walking around
[16:42] Speaker 3: the pet shop right now watching her while he's going
[16:45] Speaker 3: to buy some birds for her and then follow her
[16:46] Speaker 3: on a rowboat.
[16:48] Speaker 4: It's such a good movie.
[16:50] Speaker 2: Well, Kai, thank you so much for hanging out with
[16:53] Speaker 2: me for a few minutes. And we'll be catching up soon, man.

[17:01] Speaker 1: would love to hear from you. You can send me
[17:03] Speaker 1: an email with your encounter at bigfootsociety at gmail.com. I've
[17:08] Speaker 1: come out with a free report about the top 10
[17:11] Speaker 1: Bigfoot hotspots. You can go over to bit.ly forward slash
[17:16] Speaker 1: BFS report. I'm Jeremiah Byron. Thanks for listening to Bigfoot Society,
