In this episode, Joel Crawford and Cody Frost, two experienced overlanders, share a chilling overnight encounter deep in Washington State’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, near Ape Canyon, Muddy River, and the infamous Dark Divide. What began as a routine camping trip quickly turned unsettling when unexplained radio-like static, heavy footsteps, and coordinated movement around their camp broke the silence of the forest. As the night progressed, something physically shook a detached overland trailer, despite no visible animals or people nearby. Later, strange call-and-response vocalizations echoed through the ravine, moving rapidly through dense old-growth forest. Multiple members of the group—including children—heard the activity, confirming this was not an isolated experience. This episode explores possible Sasquatch activity, unexplained phenomena reported by overlanders, and why the Gifford Pinchot National Forest continues to be one of the most mysterious and active areas for unexplained encounters in North America. [0:00] Speaker 1: You're listening to bigfla Society, and I'm Jeremiah Byron. In
[0:03] Speaker 1: this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring
[0:05] Speaker 1: you first hand encounters from people who say they've seen
[0:08] Speaker 1: something impossible. From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to
[0:12] Speaker 1: quiet farms and crowded highways. The stories come from everywhere,
[0:16] Speaker 1: and each one leaves us with more questions than answers.
[0:20] Speaker 1: These are the voices of the people who've lived it.
[0:24] Speaker 1: To settle in, because today you'll hear another account that
[0:27] Speaker 1: just might change the way you see the woods forever.
[0:30] Speaker 1: So stay with us, Hi, There few things to go
[0:32] Speaker 1: over before this interview. Something crazy happened, Mike. Our phones malfunctioned,
[0:41] Speaker 1: all sorts of weird stuff. It took me hours to
[0:44] Speaker 1: salvage this interview. And you're going to hear some stuff
[0:47] Speaker 1: where I don't know what happened. There were no female
[0:52] Speaker 1: voices in the room on this side and anywhere in
[0:58] Speaker 1: the interview, and you might hear some weird stuff. I'm
[1:01] Speaker 1: just gonna leave it at that. Let me know what
[1:03] Speaker 1: you think. Yeah, I don't like using post processing like
[1:09] Speaker 1: I did, but it was the only way to get
[1:11] Speaker 1: rid of the mic bleed that happened. Unfortunately, from here
[1:16] Speaker 1: on out we will be really focusing more on making
[1:20] Speaker 1: sure this doesn't happen again. So my apologies. It's a
[1:23] Speaker 1: great interview. There's a lot of cool stuff. I liked it.
[1:27] Speaker 1: Unfortunately the tech decided to play some tricks on me,
[1:32] Speaker 1: so enjoy. Thank you guys for listening, and also I
[1:38] Speaker 1: would really recommend to enjoy this interview. On the YouTube side,
[1:44] Speaker 1: there's a lot of maps and stuff we go over,
[1:46] Speaker 1: so definitely worth checking out.
[1:48] Speaker 2: Thanks guys.
[1:49] Speaker 1: All right, Big Close Society, you've got the privilege of
[1:51] Speaker 1: talking to individuals.
[1:53] Speaker 3: Today.
[1:54] Speaker 1: We have Joel Crawford and Cody Frost.
[1:56] Speaker 4: How's it going, guys, Hey, going really really well, doing great.
[1:59] Speaker 5: Thank you absolutely.
[2:03] Speaker 1: I saw your story from a on a good friend's
[2:07] Speaker 1: channel of the Salish Sasquatch Channel, and I was like,
[2:11] Speaker 1: oh man, I hope maybe I can talk to them
[2:14] Speaker 1: again someday because I talked to Joel in the past
[2:18] Speaker 1: and and we're able to make it work, and I
[2:21] Speaker 1: think we even got a little help from the Sasquatch.
[2:25] Speaker 5: Channel on this. Thank you guys for that.
[2:28] Speaker 1: But yeah, welcome back Joel. You're out there in the
[2:33] Speaker 1: great stay in Washington. Correct, correct, Yeah, love it out here,
[2:38] Speaker 1: and guys that are listening, make sure you check out
[2:41] Speaker 1: the YouTube version for this because they have quite a
[2:44] Speaker 1: setup in their background. They've got all sorts of really
[2:46] Speaker 1: cool big but stuff on the wall and I'm digging it.
[2:50] Speaker 1: They've got a great, great background, so good stuff. But
[2:54] Speaker 1: we are here to talk about a interesting bigfoot experience
[2:58] Speaker 1: that happens since to day. Before we get going, is
[3:01] Speaker 1: there anything else, Well, let's mentioned, of course that you
[3:06] Speaker 1: guys are both in its overlanding. Yeah, it's correct. This
[3:10] Speaker 1: encounter actually happened when we were out overlanding in an
[3:13] Speaker 1: area which is on that go ahead and share it
[3:17] Speaker 1: real quick. This is just to show kind of the
[3:20] Speaker 1: area of Washington we're looking at. You can see a
[3:22] Speaker 1: mountain Hounds to the northwest and the Biate Canyon, and
[3:25] Speaker 1: then if you look in the southeast corner, there's an
[3:29] Speaker 1: area called Muddy River Viewpoint and you'll be seeing maps
[3:34] Speaker 1: in the future once we start chatting a little bit
[3:37] Speaker 1: more about this. What that's our context, guys about the
[3:40] Speaker 1: area we are working into today. So Cody and Joel
[3:46] Speaker 1: feel free, you know, take us back to what you
[3:49] Speaker 1: were of the plants in that day you're out overlanding.
[3:52] Speaker 4: And yeah, so kind of to preface, we got in
[3:57] Speaker 4: the overlanding probably I don't know two and a half
[4:01] Speaker 4: three years ago. I've lived in Washington State my entire life,
[4:06] Speaker 4: I think go to you as well. But we really
[4:09] Speaker 4: got heavy into just going out and kind of exploring
[4:12] Speaker 4: and really seeing things that we've never seen of the state.
[4:16] Speaker 4: And I was just you know, getting more and more
[4:18] Speaker 4: into it. And then you know, we decided to start
[4:25] Speaker 4: looking at the Giffert Pinchot area because it's such a
[4:29] Speaker 4: you know, it's.
[4:30] Speaker 1: An old growth for us. There's something about it.
[4:32] Speaker 4: It's just a really really neat place. And you know,
[4:38] Speaker 4: I've been camping before in my life, you know, many times.
[4:41] Speaker 4: I wouldn't say many times, but when I was younger,
[4:42] Speaker 4: I won a couple of times, and I've had another experience,
[4:46] Speaker 4: but i never really tied it to Bigfoot. And I've
[4:50] Speaker 4: never been an avid you know bigfoot guy. Right, you
[4:53] Speaker 4: see all the stuff on my wall. This is like
[4:55] Speaker 4: over the last i don't know, five to seven years
[4:58] Speaker 4: of listening to other people's stories and it really started
[5:00] Speaker 4: like intriguing me. Anyways, you know, two three years ago
[5:04] Speaker 4: we started start overlanding. We go out once a month
[5:07] Speaker 4: and we've been everywhere Cascades, North Cascades, Eastern Washington, Western Washington.
[5:13] Speaker 4: We've been all over in and we've never had anything
[5:16] Speaker 4: really really happened, you know, nothing significant that I would
[5:19] Speaker 4: ever say, this is, this is you know odd, right,
[5:23] Speaker 4: And never felt uncomfortable, ever, never ever felt uncomfortable. And
[5:29] Speaker 4: I think this was the second, possibly the third time
[5:33] Speaker 4: going down into the Gifford Pinchol and I believe it
[5:36] Speaker 4: was it was July, possibly accust I can't remember the
[5:39] Speaker 4: exact date. I'd have to go back and look. But
[5:42] Speaker 4: we went and did a trip and I took my
[5:44] Speaker 4: daughter with me and and I had Cody had in
[5:48] Speaker 4: his car. He had his daughter, and then we had
[5:50] Speaker 4: a couple of other friends. So we were we had
[5:53] Speaker 4: like five different vehicles. And my my goal, because I'm
[5:57] Speaker 4: always the one that sets like the maps and you know,
[5:59] Speaker 4: this is where we're gonna figure out, right, I wanted
[6:03] Speaker 4: to get to the bottom of Epe Canyon and camp
[6:06] Speaker 4: somewhere down there. And we went out. The first night
[6:12] Speaker 4: we camped is Friday night. We camped at the Cispus River.
[6:15] Speaker 4: We found a site there and it was awesome.
[6:18] Speaker 6: And then we headed out early because I knew we
[6:19] Speaker 6: had a lot of driving to do and we wanted
[6:21] Speaker 6: to hit the lower Lewis Falls and go swimming, and
[6:25] Speaker 6: and so we did that, and then it was probably
[6:27] Speaker 6: you know, getting late in the afternoon.
[6:28] Speaker 4: This is on the Saturday, maybe three o'clock. We start
[6:32] Speaker 4: heading towards where I'm targeting to camp at lower at
[6:38] Speaker 4: the at the Ape Canyon, lower lower portion of eight Cannon,
[6:42] Speaker 4: and we.
[6:43] Speaker 1: Get to a point where we hit a gate and.
[6:45] Speaker 4: I was like, man, and it's like five o'clock. Now,
[6:47] Speaker 4: you know, it's late in the afternoon, and we have
[6:50] Speaker 4: no idea where we're going to camp because we can't
[6:52] Speaker 4: get to where I was originally targeting, and so we
[6:56] Speaker 4: start doubling back and and I find.
[7:00] Speaker 1: It looks to me like it's just like an older
[7:03] Speaker 1: jeep trail. Not really.
[7:07] Speaker 4: You know, it's not up kept. It has a lot
[7:09] Speaker 4: of you know, wash outs, and and now I know
[7:12] Speaker 4: that it's called the Muddy Pine, which I found after
[7:15] Speaker 4: looking back on my on X. Until we start we
[7:19] Speaker 4: started down this this road and we had no idea
[7:21] Speaker 4: where it went, didn't know what was you know, up there,
[7:25] Speaker 4: and we kept going again five six o'clock at night
[7:28] Speaker 4: and it comes to basically where you can see where
[7:32] Speaker 4: I've marked that red X.
[7:34] Speaker 1: That's like the end of the trail, and it it
[7:38] Speaker 1: was like a big cul de sac, you know.
[7:40] Speaker 4: It was like a big round open area. So it
[7:43] Speaker 4: was like perfect for camping, right, but it was totally overgrown,
[7:46] Speaker 4: like nobody had had been out there for a long
[7:49] Speaker 4: time until we're like, you know what, we can we
[7:52] Speaker 4: can make this happen. This would be a good camps
[7:54] Speaker 4: type for the night. It wasn't really what I usually
[7:56] Speaker 4: like because I either like to be on a river
[7:58] Speaker 4: or I like to be a high I don't know.
[8:00] Speaker 4: So I could see everything, right, This was really really deep,
[8:04] Speaker 4: obviously you can see the picture deep in old forest,
[8:08] Speaker 4: old growth forest. And on the right side of the
[8:11] Speaker 4: coul de sac was basically like like a ravine. It
[8:14] Speaker 4: was like a big drop off into like a like
[8:17] Speaker 4: a canyon almost, and then on the left side of
[8:20] Speaker 4: the cul de sac was like a mountain. And then
[8:23] Speaker 4: you could see past the coul de sac like at
[8:27] Speaker 4: some point if you look at the map you can
[8:28] Speaker 4: kind of see you like there's still some sort of
[8:30] Speaker 4: a trail, but you could, you could it was blocked off.
[8:33] Speaker 4: It was blocked off by like maybe a long time
[8:35] Speaker 4: ago somebody took a dozer and blocked it off right,
[8:38] Speaker 4: but it was all overgrown and like you know, clearly
[8:41] Speaker 4: a long time ago. Anyways, there's like a game trail
[8:45] Speaker 4: there going into those deep woods. There's a couple of
[8:48] Speaker 4: game trails from what I could see. Anyhow, we set
[8:51] Speaker 4: up camp. I am at the furthest point of the
[8:55] Speaker 4: cul de Sac. Basically I had pulled my my jeep
[8:58] Speaker 4: in and basically put the passenger side against the outer
[9:02] Speaker 4: ridge of the cul de Sac by that game trail,
[9:06] Speaker 4: and Cody and his and his little CRV and his
[9:10] Speaker 4: daughter they were probably I don't know, you know, thirty
[9:13] Speaker 4: forty feet behind my trailer, right right around thirty forty
[9:17] Speaker 4: feet so.
[9:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, right next to the dropping off into the valley.
[9:22] Speaker 4: Yeah, he's p's like camp right at the edge of
[9:24] Speaker 4: the valley, right on the green belt.
[9:26] Speaker 1: And then we had our other couple friends basically behind Cody,
[9:30] Speaker 1: and then another fifty feet or so behind him was
[9:33] Speaker 1: our last friend.
[9:34] Speaker 4: And so I was driving my jeep I would before
[9:38] Speaker 4: to do or jeep and and I have an overland trailer,
[9:42] Speaker 4: and I had taken my overland trailer and I disconnected it.
[9:46] Speaker 4: And it's really important to understand this because of how
[9:48] Speaker 4: this whole situation played out. I disconnected my trailer because
[9:53] Speaker 4: I had to level it, and when we were on
[9:55] Speaker 4: kind of a slope, and so I disconnected my trailer
[9:58] Speaker 4: and I chalked on my wheels and I left the
[10:01] Speaker 4: chains hooked to my trailer hitch just so my you know,
[10:04] Speaker 4: it would you know, not spin around or whatever. So
[10:07] Speaker 4: I chalk it. I get my jeep level from my
[10:10] Speaker 4: daughter because she sleeps inside my inside my.
[10:12] Speaker 1: Jeep, and we get we get camp.
[10:15] Speaker 4: Set up, and we we uh, we get around the
[10:18] Speaker 4: fire and the thing that like, you know, I didn't
[10:22] Speaker 4: tell anybody this going into the trail, but I felt,
[10:25] Speaker 4: for the first time, I felt.
[10:27] Speaker 1: Kind of uneasy. It was just kind of like a
[10:29] Speaker 1: creepy area. It was really creepy. It was dark.
[10:34] Speaker 4: And I'm not saying it was dark because it was
[10:35] Speaker 4: like summertime, right, so it's still light out. But this
[10:38] Speaker 4: area was just dark.
[10:40] Speaker 5: It was very remote.
[10:41] Speaker 1: And and it was quiet. It was like ear ringing silence.
[10:46] Speaker 4: There was no bugs, there was no animals, there's no
[10:48] Speaker 4: nothing and and it was just really odd. And I
[10:52] Speaker 4: remember sitting around the fire, you know, seven o'clock, eight
[10:55] Speaker 4: o'clock whatever, and it's talking about just how quiet it was.
[10:58] Speaker 1: It was just it was just silent, and we thought
[11:01] Speaker 1: it was weird, you know.
[11:02] Speaker 4: Anyways, you know, nine o'clock ish we decided to kind
[11:07] Speaker 4: of kind of call it a night, right, and nine,
[11:09] Speaker 4: I would say, so, yeah, and you know, I climb
[11:13] Speaker 4: into my rooftop tent that's on my trailer, and I
[11:16] Speaker 4: get my daughter. She's thirteen, she sleeps in the jeep, right,
[11:19] Speaker 4: So I get her all set up in my jeep
[11:20] Speaker 4: and get her locked up and put.
[11:22] Speaker 1: A radio in there for and so we're, uh, we're
[11:28] Speaker 1: all in bed.
[11:29] Speaker 4: And Cody is it.
[11:30] Speaker 1: He has a little yellow tint, right.
[11:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little north face, a three person tent,
[11:36] Speaker 3: and it's one of the storm shelters. So like if
[11:39] Speaker 3: you put the rain fly on, you're like real secure.
[11:43] Speaker 3: But you can leave the rain fly off. And basically
[11:46] Speaker 3: with the exception of the very center of the top
[11:49] Speaker 3: that has like the material for the tent, it's all
[11:52] Speaker 3: screen around it. So I left that off so I
[11:56] Speaker 3: could see like the stars in the middle of the
[11:58] Speaker 3: night because it was still warm and wet, worried about weather,
[12:01] Speaker 3: so I left that. So it was basically an open tent. Yeah,
[12:05] Speaker 3: you know, the only thing separating us was that little screen,
[12:08] Speaker 3: a window screen right from the rest of the campsite.
[12:12] Speaker 4: Which which I never do.
[12:14] Speaker 1: I don't want to see what's coming, so I keep
[12:16] Speaker 1: my stuff shut shut, you know, closed. Right.
[12:18] Speaker 4: So anyways, so I'm laying in my rooftop tent, on
[12:22] Speaker 4: my on my little trailer, and I think I included
[12:24] Speaker 4: a picture of that in the screenshot just so you
[12:26] Speaker 4: can kind of have a you know, understanding of what
[12:28] Speaker 4: it looks like. And that picture is actually at that
[12:32] Speaker 4: location that's actually in that cul de sac. And so
[12:36] Speaker 4: I'm in my little rooftop tent right there, and my
[12:38] Speaker 4: daughter's in the jeep, and it's like nine o'clock.
[12:42] Speaker 5: We hit the hay.
[12:43] Speaker 4: Everybody's in bed, and it was around it was around
[12:48] Speaker 4: like eleven eleven thirty ish something like that, where basically
[12:53] Speaker 4: where I'm laying my head is at the end of
[12:56] Speaker 4: the trailer in the tent, and to my right is
[13:01] Speaker 4: that that game trail basically that goes continues on into
[13:05] Speaker 4: the forest. And I hear what sounds like too. The
[13:11] Speaker 4: only way I could picture, and what I've said before,
[13:13] Speaker 4: is like if somebody took two large river rocks, like round,
[13:18] Speaker 4: smooth river rocks and bang them together, just boom boom,
[13:22] Speaker 4: and it made this just like loud like clacking noise,
[13:26] Speaker 4: and it was probably I don't know, you know, thirty
[13:28] Speaker 4: feet into the woods off to my right, and it
[13:31] Speaker 4: immediately startled me. And so I just sat there and
[13:34] Speaker 4: I was what a heck was that? Because I was
[13:36] Speaker 4: kind of playing on my phone. And then directly after
[13:40] Speaker 4: the clacking came broken like chattering radio static. It was
[13:46] Speaker 4: really really weird, and the radio static was was much closer.
[13:50] Speaker 4: It was like like ten to fifteen feet into the woodline,
[13:54] Speaker 4: and I'm like, I'm like at this point, I'm like,
[13:57] Speaker 4: what the heck is that?
[13:58] Speaker 1: Right? Because we all, I'll have like a pact in
[14:01] Speaker 1: our in our camp. Our group is the same group
[14:03] Speaker 1: that goes everywhere.
[14:04] Speaker 4: We will not mess with each other at nighttime because
[14:08] Speaker 4: we have weapons.
[14:09] Speaker 5: Right, we go out there armed.
[14:11] Speaker 4: Nobody is messing with nobody out there because you can
[14:13] Speaker 4: get shot, right. And so I'm laying there with my
[14:16] Speaker 4: pistol on my chest and I'm hearing this radio static
[14:19] Speaker 4: that goes goes on for some seconds, but it's like
[14:23] Speaker 4: broken white noise, like what you see on an old
[14:26] Speaker 4: TV where it's like staticky. It was like that, but
[14:29] Speaker 4: it was it was not just constant.
[14:31] Speaker 5: It was choppy.
[14:32] Speaker 4: And then directly after that, something pushes my entire trailer.
[14:38] Speaker 4: It created it moves me, makes me rock. It didn't
[14:41] Speaker 4: like shove my trailer like a foot or anything like that,
[14:44] Speaker 4: but it was like the way it felt. I had
[14:47] Speaker 4: moved on to my side and I was kind of
[14:49] Speaker 4: laying there with my pistol, and it was like somebody
[14:52] Speaker 4: had touched where, like they put their hand where my
[14:56] Speaker 4: rear taillight is and just gently, you know, shook me.
[14:59] Speaker 4: But it moved my whole trailer right enough to move me.
[15:03] Speaker 4: At that point, I was frozen, like I didn't know
[15:05] Speaker 4: what the heck was going on, and and I was
[15:08] Speaker 4: just you know, listening to hear if I heard anything walking.
[15:12] Speaker 4: I never heard anything walk up. I never heard anything
[15:14] Speaker 4: walk away. I never heard anything breathing. I never heard anything.
[15:19] Speaker 4: But something clearly moved my entire trailer directly after these
[15:22] Speaker 4: weird sounds. Right, So I'm thinking to myself, like, okay,
[15:26] Speaker 4: you know is my daughter? Okay, you know what's going on?
[15:31] Speaker 1: And there was nothing after that. I laid there. I
[15:34] Speaker 1: was frozen. I did not unds up my tent.
[15:35] Speaker 5: I didn't do anything.
[15:37] Speaker 1: Eventually I fell asleep, and I coulda been a couple
[15:42] Speaker 1: hours later.
[15:43] Speaker 4: I don't even know. Eventually I fell asleep and at Abrountain,
[15:47] Speaker 4: I think it was like four o'clock or four thirty
[15:49] Speaker 4: or something like that, I heard a bunch of shuffling outside.
[15:53] Speaker 4: And mind you, at four o'clock in the morning, fourth
[15:55] Speaker 4: thirty in the morning, it's still dark, right, So I
[15:59] Speaker 4: slow williams up my tent. I kind of peeked my
[16:01] Speaker 4: head out and Cody is He's now outside his tent,
[16:08] Speaker 4: and he just immediately is like, are you hearing all this?
[16:12] Speaker 4: And I was like, I was like, no, I'm not.
[16:15] Speaker 4: I'm not hearing anything.
[16:16] Speaker 1: And I'll let him kind of take over him what
[16:18] Speaker 1: he was dealing with because I was asleep at that point.
[16:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, and yeah, I mean little time difference, but it
[16:24] Speaker 3: was more a little bit right after five, I thought,
[16:28] Speaker 3: you know, so where where he started hearing stuff? Around
[16:33] Speaker 3: eleven o'clock, right we all went to bed, As he mentioned,
[16:36] Speaker 3: around nine nine thirty, and you know, I think I
[16:43] Speaker 3: sleep pretty heavy most of the time. But you know,
[16:46] Speaker 3: it was kind of eerie. Like you mentioned, it was,
[16:48] Speaker 3: you know, oddly quiet.
[16:50] Speaker 2: Usually we hear.
[16:51] Speaker 3: Birds when we're down out the river. Obviously you know,
[16:54] Speaker 3: it was a bit more active. But this next night
[16:58] Speaker 3: it is super quiet it and you know, fine, there's
[17:05] Speaker 3: not you know, we we just went went to bed
[17:07] Speaker 3: and around you know, eleven thirty eleven forty five, you know,
[17:14] Speaker 3: I also start hearing activity.
[17:17] Speaker 2: Around the camp.
[17:19] Speaker 1: But he's like thirty forty our feet behind me, yes,
[17:22] Speaker 1: right on the edge of this ridge. So so the
[17:24] Speaker 1: thing is, you know, maybe one other time before that,
[17:30] Speaker 1: you know, I.
[17:31] Speaker 2: Woke up to Jos, but I also heard some of.
[17:34] Speaker 3: Our friends out and about they they either got out
[17:38] Speaker 3: their their trailer, their ten to go to the restaurant
[17:41] Speaker 3: or whatever. But they had flashlights. So you know, obviously
[17:45] Speaker 3: we knew what's up. But around eleven forty five, remember
[17:51] Speaker 3: I said, I have the whole rain fly off, so
[17:53] Speaker 3: I can pretty much see all around if there was
[17:57] Speaker 3: light shining around, but it was pitch black, and I
[18:02] Speaker 3: start hearing something moving off into the brush. Uh, you know,
[18:07] Speaker 3: just to the right of my tent basically in the
[18:10] Speaker 3: green belt where my u where we would we were
[18:15] Speaker 3: laying down, and like I said, I had my five
[18:18] Speaker 3: year old daughter laying laying next to me. And you know,
[18:22] Speaker 3: at first, I was like, okay, you know, uh, it
[18:25] Speaker 3: could be some raccoons or deer, you know, walking around.
[18:29] Speaker 3: But then it started to uh, there was activity that
[18:33] Speaker 3: started around the whole camp, the whole camp, and and
[18:36] Speaker 3: it no longer just sounded like deer wrestling around or
[18:40] Speaker 3: or an animals. It sounded like people walking around the tent.
[18:43] Speaker 4: Well.
[18:44] Speaker 3: Remember I said, I could look out and there was
[18:47] Speaker 3: no None of our friends were out there walking around
[18:49] Speaker 3: with their flashlights or anything. I had the same situation
[18:55] Speaker 3: where I had my fire arm next to me, I
[18:58] Speaker 3: grabbed my piss stole the same and you know, like
[19:03] Speaker 3: I said, I'm not afraid of deer, you know, or
[19:07] Speaker 3: even if there was a baron that wasn't quite there,
[19:09] Speaker 3: I'd be like a little concerned. But I was actually
[19:12] Speaker 3: in fear. And I couldn't explain that. I you know,
[19:17] Speaker 3: it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
[19:20] Speaker 3: To the point where I had my flashlight next to
[19:22] Speaker 3: me and I wasn't about to turn it on and
[19:25] Speaker 3: shine it out through the tent.
[19:27] Speaker 2: I tried to look to see if I could see movement.
[19:29] Speaker 3: I didn't see anything without the flashlight, and so it
[19:35] Speaker 3: you know, a little after twelve, it seemed to have
[19:38] Speaker 3: died down and I calmed down. Nothing actually came up
[19:42] Speaker 3: to the tent and touched the tent, So you know,
[19:47] Speaker 3: I was.
[19:47] Speaker 2: Able to go back to sleep.
[19:49] Speaker 3: I don't know how, but just went back to sleep,
[19:53] Speaker 3: and like he mentioned, around four thirty, you know, I
[20:03] Speaker 3: got woke up again. I think it was more actually
[20:07] Speaker 3: around four forty five, and all of a sudden, down
[20:11] Speaker 3: in that valley, I heard what.
[20:15] Speaker 1: To me, the best way I.
[20:16] Speaker 3: Can explain it is like say you were out in
[20:21] Speaker 3: the woods with some friends and you were calling out
[20:24] Speaker 3: to each other with like a hooting or howling noise.
[20:29] Speaker 3: If you had to compare it to an animal, I
[20:30] Speaker 3: would say it was an owl. But it was really weird.
[20:34] Speaker 3: It was a pattern of like a mind you I'm
[20:38] Speaker 3: not going to be able to scream it out, but
[20:40] Speaker 3: like a hoo hoo who and like three seconds later
[20:46] Speaker 3: something would respond with that same call, and then ten
[20:51] Speaker 3: to twenty seconds would go by, the first one would
[20:54] Speaker 3: do it again and you could audibly tell that one
[20:58] Speaker 3: of the individuals was closer and the other was further
[21:03] Speaker 3: in the distance. And it started off like it seemed
[21:06] Speaker 3: like it was maybe you know, fifty to one hundred
[21:10] Speaker 3: feet down in the valley at first, and then it
[21:13] Speaker 3: got to the point in the next ten minutes, and
[21:16] Speaker 3: like I said, this went on for like ten minutes.
[21:18] Speaker 3: I heard them calling back and forth to each other
[21:22] Speaker 3: to the point where you you no longer could hear
[21:24] Speaker 3: the second one answer, and then you could just barely
[21:27] Speaker 3: hear the first one, and then they were gone. The
[21:32] Speaker 3: way I pictured it in my head, either something was
[21:36] Speaker 3: moving so fast through that forest to clear the distance
[21:43] Speaker 3: they cleared to where I could no longer hear them anymore,
[21:45] Speaker 3: or it had to be a bird or an owl.
[21:49] Speaker 3: The problem with that being a bird or an owl
[21:50] Speaker 3: is that the volume that was making it just sounded,
[21:55] Speaker 3: it just carried so far.
[21:56] Speaker 2: And I mean, we're in the middle of the woods,
[21:59] Speaker 2: you know, So.
[22:01] Speaker 3: I don't know of a bird that that can consistently
[22:06] Speaker 3: call back and forth to each other with the same
[22:09] Speaker 3: pattern every single time, And so that got me a
[22:14] Speaker 3: little nervous. So shortly after that, once they cooled off,
[22:21] Speaker 3: it was just after five.
[22:22] Speaker 2: I do get out of my tent and.
[22:26] Speaker 3: Either he heard me or or or whatever. But I'm like, hey,
[22:31] Speaker 3: have have you been listening to this? Because I didn't
[22:34] Speaker 3: know how no one else could hear it.
[22:36] Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's kind of when I stuck my head
[22:39] Speaker 4: out of the tent. I wasn't gonna really talk to
[22:41] Speaker 4: anybody about, you know, hearing radio stack. It was just weird, right,
[22:45] Speaker 4: but being being shocked and so I was. I was
[22:48] Speaker 4: not going to just bring it up immediately. But as
[22:50] Speaker 4: soon as he like.
[22:53] Speaker 1: He's like, hey, the way he said it, he was
[22:55] Speaker 1: like concerned, you know, and uh, that kind of shocked me.
[22:59] Speaker 4: And that's what I said, Well, this is what happened,
[23:01] Speaker 4: you know, to me, this is what was going on
[23:03] Speaker 4: last night. And then my daughter confirmed that she had
[23:07] Speaker 4: heard the radio chatter, but she didn't hear it as
[23:10] Speaker 4: long as I heard it. She only heard it for
[23:12] Speaker 4: a couple like a couple split seconds. So I don't
[23:15] Speaker 4: know if it was like moving or what was going on,
[23:20] Speaker 4: because the distance between my jeep in her was probably
[23:23] Speaker 4: ten feet or whatever the case may be. But what
[23:27] Speaker 4: was important, and I kind of prefaced this earlier, is
[23:30] Speaker 4: the fact that you know, thinking to myself, well, if
[23:33] Speaker 4: it shoved my trailer, my daughter would have felt it.
[23:35] Speaker 4: She didn't feel anything, but my trailer was no longer
[23:37] Speaker 4: on the ball. I had removed my trailer from the jeep,
[23:41] Speaker 4: and so that was just something I wanted to make
[23:44] Speaker 4: sure people understood, is if the trailer would have been
[23:47] Speaker 4: shook and it was hooked to my jeep, still, yeah,
[23:49] Speaker 4: she would have felt that, but it was no longer attached.
[23:52] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[23:53] Speaker 3: I also, you know, at around the eleven o'clock eleven
[23:57] Speaker 3: thirty time period, I had finally started hearing crickets on
[24:00] Speaker 3: the side of me, and I was like, hey, are
[24:04] Speaker 3: you sure that those aren't crickets. He's like, no, I
[24:06] Speaker 3: heard the crickets. This was definitely not the crickets.
[24:08] Speaker 1: Yeah it was.
[24:09] Speaker 3: It was it was a completely different sound, and so
[24:13] Speaker 3: I tried to eliminate that, even though I had experienced
[24:16] Speaker 3: my own situation. You know, I'm like the open minded skeptic.
[24:23] Speaker 3: I guess, you know, I haven't seen anything to as
[24:26] Speaker 3: really know, but we've you know, being out there, we've
[24:30] Speaker 3: heard weird things we can't explain, and the only thing
[24:32] Speaker 3: you can really say is it has to be some
[24:34] Speaker 3: sort of animal, and you know that's still the truth
[24:37] Speaker 3: no matter what it is.
[24:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, I know we've we've all heard you know, crickets
[24:41] Speaker 4: and birds and all that kind of stuff. This was
[24:45] Speaker 4: like white white noise. It was really odd. It was
[24:48] Speaker 4: like somebody had an old radio and was like, you know,
[24:52] Speaker 4: it was choppy. It was really really odd.
[24:54] Speaker 1: And it's such a massive contrast to like getting.
[24:58] Speaker 4: Pushed or hearing uh a deer or whatever the case
[25:03] Speaker 4: me in elk bugling or whatever. Right, radio static and
[25:08] Speaker 4: natural wildlife is just total different contrasts.
[25:11] Speaker 1: So I don't know what it means.
[25:12] Speaker 4: I have no idea. I told, you know, the sailors sasquatch,
[25:17] Speaker 4: you know when I when I was talking to them
[25:18] Speaker 4: about it, there's he quite you know, John questioned me
[25:23] Speaker 4: on the you know what I thought about radio the
[25:26] Speaker 4: radio static and you know, I've heard of you know,
[25:30] Speaker 4: people that have weird experiences that tie into you know,
[25:34] Speaker 4: possible sasquatch or whatever. They hear like metallic noises. They
[25:38] Speaker 4: will hear like a gate gate shutting, or they're going
[25:41] Speaker 4: to hear like a you know, a car door shutting
[25:44] Speaker 4: or something you know, metallic. So that's the only thing
[25:47] Speaker 4: I can think of like, it's so odd, right, It's so.
[25:49] Speaker 1: Different from what you would expect. This is deep in
[25:52] Speaker 1: the woods at this time.
[25:54] Speaker 3: Of the night, right, So yeah, I think that the
[25:59] Speaker 3: fact that uh, you know, not only just us too,
[26:03] Speaker 3: but some of our other friends had heard activity outside.
[26:06] Speaker 1: Of the end.
[26:06] Speaker 2: They didn't think, uh they they were a little nervous
[26:10] Speaker 2: about it.
[26:10] Speaker 3: But obviously they couldn't you know, see out and yeah,
[26:14] Speaker 3: but they they even brought it up after we started
[26:17] Speaker 3: talking about it. And so I think just a combination
[26:21] Speaker 3: of all the weird stuff that happens makes it kind
[26:24] Speaker 3: of odd to us.
[26:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I.
[26:28] Speaker 3: Said, that's the skeptics ide talking to me or talking.
[26:31] Speaker 4: But yeah, and the old you know, if you look
[26:34] Speaker 4: at the ravine side, you know that was probably a
[26:37] Speaker 4: good hundred foot ridge line we were all.
[26:41] Speaker 1: Kind of well, they were all kind of parked up against.
[26:43] Speaker 1: And like I said, I was more towards the end
[26:45] Speaker 1: of the cul de sac, towards the woodline going into
[26:48] Speaker 1: the old trail right that had been blocked where there
[26:51] Speaker 1: was a where there was a game trail. And so
[26:54] Speaker 1: our buddy Matt he he was the furthest away kind
[26:58] Speaker 1: of closest to where we came in of the cold sack,
[27:01] Speaker 1: and he said he had heard all the the you know,
[27:04] Speaker 1: activity around the site.
[27:06] Speaker 4: They didn't hear any of the radio static. But I
[27:08] Speaker 4: think that was just because it was so close to me.
[27:11] Speaker 4: I mean they were good probably thirty forty yards away
[27:13] Speaker 4: from me.
[27:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't even hear it.
[27:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, So that's uh, the that is the story. That's
[27:20] Speaker 1: what we dealt with. That's some wild stuff. Guys, My goodness.
[27:26] Speaker 1: I definitely do have some questions or you. So, first off, regarding.
[27:31] Speaker 2: The map we have on this, Yeah, yeah, yep, can.
[27:35] Speaker 1: You explain so I would I would assume some muddy
[27:39] Speaker 1: pine that's like a forest service.
[27:40] Speaker 5: Road, correct, h.
[27:43] Speaker 4: I don't know if it's necessarily a forest service road.
[27:46] Speaker 1: It's it's more like a trail. It's like it's like
[27:48] Speaker 1: a jeep trail. It's like a side by side trail.
[27:50] Speaker 1: It's uh, I mean, it depends on what you really
[27:52] Speaker 1: look at it as far as forced service road. Like
[27:54] Speaker 1: if I'm thinking for a service room and I'm thinking
[27:56] Speaker 1: they all like you know, for Service Road twenty six,
[27:59] Speaker 1: for Service Route twenty five, those are like more travel
[28:03] Speaker 1: logging roads, I guess this this is like this is
[28:06] Speaker 1: like a trail.
[28:07] Speaker 3: It was like a purposely built to get up into
[28:10] Speaker 3: you know, so or maybe for a campsite at one
[28:14] Speaker 3: time or.
[28:14] Speaker 4: Yeah I've heard, but yeah it was rugged.
[28:18] Speaker 1: And then if you look at like where it has
[28:23] Speaker 1: some muddy pine is the sawid line and that goes
[28:26] Speaker 1: into dashes. Does that mean the trail gets even worse? Yeah?
[28:31] Speaker 4: Yeah, So if you look if you look at the
[28:33] Speaker 4: three D map, I say, I sent you a three
[28:35] Speaker 4: D map, you can kind of see it from a
[28:36] Speaker 4: different viewpoint.
[28:40] Speaker 1: But basically where I put that put that written X.
[28:43] Speaker 2: That is the burn.
[28:45] Speaker 4: That is the actual like cul de Sac. And and
[28:49] Speaker 4: so the solid line continues past, but there's no trail there.
[28:54] Speaker 4: It's basically like a dugout walking game trail basically, you
[29:00] Speaker 4: see what I'm saying. So there's like that trail may
[29:03] Speaker 4: have been there at one point. Yeah. So if you
[29:05] Speaker 4: look at that where that where that little X is,
[29:08] Speaker 4: that is basically the cul de Sac. And and so
[29:11] Speaker 4: you can kind of zoom in on it. You can
[29:12] Speaker 4: kind of see the outline of it where it's kind
[29:15] Speaker 4: of around area. Yeah, that's that's the cul de Sack
[29:18] Speaker 4: right there. Basically that solid line is not there.
[29:21] Speaker 1: That that's that's.
[29:22] Speaker 4: Like a game trail and basically where that that little
[29:26] Speaker 4: pin is the x pin.
[29:28] Speaker 1: I was further. I was further towards.
[29:31] Speaker 4: The I was like, right there where your mass is.
[29:34] Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, where your mouse is.
[29:36] Speaker 4: If you move your mouse up a little bit not
[29:38] Speaker 4: to the right right, that's where I was parked. That's
[29:40] Speaker 4: where my tent was right there. So I was like
[29:42] Speaker 4: right there at the game trail, and Cody and all
[29:45] Speaker 4: the other guys were down around that ridge line right there,
[29:49] Speaker 4: that's more south on the picture there where the where
[29:51] Speaker 4: the two red lines basically end. That's where they were
[29:54] Speaker 4: all parked. Yep, that's where Cody was.
[29:56] Speaker 1: That's where they were. Yeah.
[29:58] Speaker 3: So yeah, and I had and then before it got
[30:01] Speaker 3: dark earlier in the day, I had walked, yeah, just
[30:06] Speaker 3: past that that burn to go and see what went there.
[30:08] Speaker 3: And basically it looked like, you know, people would take
[30:12] Speaker 3: their dogs back there, you know, they were camping there
[30:14] Speaker 3: in the past or something.
[30:15] Speaker 2: But the trail just disappeared.
[30:19] Speaker 3: As he went deeper in, it got narrower and narrower,
[30:22] Speaker 3: and so at one time maybe it was a road, uh,
[30:25] Speaker 3: and then became like a walking trail at some time,
[30:28] Speaker 3: and then it just.
[30:29] Speaker 1: There's nothing rush overgrowing woods. Would this this makes really
[30:37] Speaker 1: when you start to look at the three D mile
[30:39] Speaker 1: as well, really it looks like the area that.
[30:42] Speaker 5: You were hanging out here.
[30:45] Speaker 1: Then it goes down that Yeah, that trail goes down right, Yep,
[30:50] Speaker 1: it does. Yeah.
[30:52] Speaker 4: And then and then Cody's uh, you know, on the
[30:54] Speaker 4: other the map, you can see the two lines where
[30:56] Speaker 4: he was hearing these two you know whatever it was,
[31:00] Speaker 4: those two lines right there up top. The hooting is
[31:02] Speaker 4: it's like in that area and they were moving west
[31:07] Speaker 4: to east in the picture. Does that make sense?
[31:13] Speaker 1: Yeah? That does That's wild. So this area that you're
[31:17] Speaker 1: camped out, then how far would you estimate you were
[31:22] Speaker 1: from like been Urist, even close to let's say like
[31:26] Speaker 1: another like an established campground.
[31:29] Speaker 5: Or where there would be people.
[31:30] Speaker 1: At oh Man, you know fifty Yeah, I guess. I
[31:37] Speaker 1: guess the closest thing in my mind would have been
[31:40] Speaker 1: Lower Lewis Falls. That area probably has so maybe like
[31:45] Speaker 1: I don't know, forty minutes, yeah, which would be what
[31:51] Speaker 1: would you estimate then, miles like thirty forty miles.
[31:55] Speaker 4: Yeah, because I mean when you're driving down those roads,
[31:57] Speaker 4: you know, even the paved ones, they're like, you know,
[32:00] Speaker 4: the major bumps and Hompson the failed pavements. So I
[32:05] Speaker 4: would probably say, you know, thirty forty minutes.
[32:07] Speaker 2: I think when we.
[32:08] Speaker 3: Got back done with that trip in the woods, we
[32:11] Speaker 3: covered what like two hundred miles.
[32:15] Speaker 2: I could be off a little bit.
[32:17] Speaker 3: But so we you know, if you said we went
[32:19] Speaker 3: in and came out, we were at any point between
[32:23] Speaker 3: fifteen one hundred miles deep into so you know, a
[32:29] Speaker 3: little more remote than being next to town there for sure.
[32:34] Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, I mean you are the way I'm getting
[32:37] Speaker 1: You're in an area where people don't normally go for sure.
[32:41] Speaker 1: Sure there is probably not used to having people there.
[32:45] Speaker 4: For sure in this in this area for sure, I
[32:48] Speaker 4: think that you know, Lower Lewis Falls is well known,
[32:51] Speaker 4: you know, being it in the middle of a different pincho,
[32:55] Speaker 4: you know, it's not it's not like a place where
[32:57] Speaker 4: everybody goes, right, but where we were here, people weren't
[33:02] Speaker 4: going They're not going there.
[33:03] Speaker 1: It's it's definitely a place that is.
[33:06] Speaker 4: It's very remote.
[33:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, we happened. We we came to it.
[33:12] Speaker 3: Uh, we were just looking for a camp, right, so
[33:16] Speaker 3: we just turned down different roads and obviously we're not
[33:19] Speaker 3: worried about getting lost because we're tracking ourselves on on
[33:22] Speaker 3: X and so we just came to a dead end
[33:24] Speaker 3: and we're like, well this this looks good enough to camp,
[33:27] Speaker 3: but I mean, this isn't a road someone is specifically
[33:30] Speaker 3: looking to travel down. Just happened to hit it, and yep,
[33:35] Speaker 3: that's where we ended up.
[33:36] Speaker 1: Yep. The radiostatic is such an interesting detail these I
[33:42] Speaker 1: don't know. I'm trying to think right now, and I
[33:45] Speaker 1: don't think it is ever come out and it's that
[33:48] Speaker 1: I've done.
[33:49] Speaker 5: That's very very weird.
[33:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, I really don't either.
[33:54] Speaker 4: I did talk to the bfr O called me and
[33:58] Speaker 4: I did talk with I did talk Scott and he
[34:01] Speaker 4: said that he's heard a couple of different inces is
[34:03] Speaker 4: where he had heard similar stories with radio static. But
[34:08] Speaker 4: it's definitely not something that's normal in the context. I'm
[34:11] Speaker 4: big for it, right or what we're talking about here,
[34:15] Speaker 4: you know, being.
[34:16] Speaker 1: Normal, because yeah, weird kind of commuter outside that the
[34:21] Speaker 1: up big and that's when you're we're hearing things that
[34:24] Speaker 1: sound like radio static or your lights in the woods,
[34:29] Speaker 1: which we're still thinking this time. It sounded like there.
[34:32] Speaker 4: Wasn't no, no, nothing like that.
[34:40] Speaker 1: Okay, so I don't know if you just heard what
[34:43] Speaker 1: I heard. It sounded like a female voice saying stop looking.
[34:48] Speaker 1: Let me know if you agree with me on that
[34:50] Speaker 1: or what you heard. I've listened to it a whole lot.
[34:52] Speaker 1: I'm going to go ahead and play the original audio
[34:55] Speaker 1: clip because weirder still before it went through post processing.
[35:01] Speaker 1: All you hear is a huge static burst, which is
[35:05] Speaker 1: ironic because we were just talking about radio static, right,
[35:10] Speaker 1: kind of weird And if you look back on the video,
[35:13] Speaker 1: no one was moving around at the time when that rustled.
[35:18] Speaker 1: It was like something rustled across the mic or static burst. Anyways,
[35:22] Speaker 1: here's the original audio. It's garbage, but you can tell
[35:27] Speaker 1: what I'm talking about with the rustling slash static burst,
[35:32] Speaker 1: and then we'll get back to the interview.
[35:34] Speaker 7: Yeah, weird, even weirder outside the field of Bigfoot, and
[35:38] Speaker 7: that's when you're you're hearing things that sound like radio
[35:41] Speaker 7: static or you're seeing lights in the woods.
[35:45] Speaker 5: Which was in this time.
[35:47] Speaker 7: It sounds like there wasn't any any seeing of orbs
[35:51] Speaker 7: or lights or anything like that.
[35:56] Speaker 4: Absolutely nothing like that. I think the being that the
[36:01] Speaker 4: the other thing is like if I would have heard
[36:03] Speaker 4: the radio static.
[36:04] Speaker 1: Maybe coming from my left inside the camp I would
[36:08] Speaker 1: I'd be like, okay, well what's going on here?
[36:10] Speaker 4: You know, But it was coming from the woods, like
[36:13] Speaker 4: I said, it's coming you know, ten fifteen feet from
[36:16] Speaker 4: from basically that ridge that where the trail basically goes
[36:20] Speaker 4: off and ends. That's where I'm hearing this this radio static.
[36:25] Speaker 4: And to me, it was it was clear as day,
[36:28] Speaker 4: you know, broken radio static. It was clear as day.
[36:30] Speaker 4: It was like white noise.
[36:33] Speaker 5: Absolutely.
[36:34] Speaker 1: Was there anything any smells that were in that campsite
[36:39] Speaker 1: area that.
[36:39] Speaker 4: We're out, Yeah, no, no smells, you know, nothing, nothing
[36:44] Speaker 4: other than what we talked about being out of the ordinary,
[36:49] Speaker 4: you know, no smells. And we did look, you know,
[36:53] Speaker 4: I you know, the next day, I you know, when
[36:57] Speaker 4: it got light out, we were looking at the ground
[36:59] Speaker 4: and unfortunately, you know, we we were walking around and
[37:03] Speaker 4: so we were on like long it was like long
[37:06] Speaker 4: overgrown grass, right, and so it was very well padded.
[37:09] Speaker 4: It wasn't like you were walking.
[37:10] Speaker 1: On dirt or gravel.
[37:13] Speaker 4: It was very overgrown and so you could see where
[37:17] Speaker 4: you know, anybody could have walked right and would have
[37:21] Speaker 4: flattened out the grass, and the grass was all flattened
[37:23] Speaker 4: out right, So I'm not saying that we didn't.
[37:25] Speaker 1: Do it right.
[37:26] Speaker 4: I figured we probably did, so. I was kind of
[37:28] Speaker 4: trying to see if there was any signs of footprints
[37:30] Speaker 4: or something like that, but I couldn't tell right, and
[37:33] Speaker 4: there was no like handprint on my trailer. But it
[37:36] Speaker 4: was extremely dusty because it was the middle of summertime
[37:41] Speaker 4: and so everything I had was covered in dust, and
[37:42] Speaker 4: I was trying to see if there was, like, you know,
[37:45] Speaker 4: a handprint or whatever where I thought it may have
[37:47] Speaker 4: been touched, and there were smudges, but it was nothing
[37:50] Speaker 4: that's like, okay, this is not my hand, right, nothing
[37:53] Speaker 4: like that.
[37:55] Speaker 1: See. Yeah, yeah, I didn't think about it.
[38:00] Speaker 5: I guess logically that as smuch could.
[38:03] Speaker 1: Definitely come with with with someone that you know was unloading.
[38:08] Speaker 4: Yeah, totally, totally, Yeah, totally. And I don't even know
[38:13] Speaker 4: exactly where it was pushed, to be honest, I just
[38:14] Speaker 4: I felt that it was pushed in the back passenger
[38:17] Speaker 4: or a corner area.
[38:21] Speaker 5: Sue, I don't know if you guys remember doing this.
[38:27] Speaker 1: What was there point where you did, like you were
[38:31] Speaker 1: able to look in but the woods around the FAM site.
[38:35] Speaker 1: Did you notice anything out of the ordinary recurving trees
[38:39] Speaker 1: or anything to do with the way that it was
[38:42] Speaker 1: were set up.
[38:44] Speaker 2: I didn't honestly look.
[38:50] Speaker 3: For anything other than, hey, something touched my trailer, come
[38:54] Speaker 3: come check us out. As far as looking into the woods,
[38:57] Speaker 3: you know, I didn't go out there to look at
[39:01] Speaker 3: trees or anything. You know, we're not out there hunting,
[39:04] Speaker 3: no looking for anything, at least I'm not.
[39:09] Speaker 4: Yeah, I I didn't either other than just around my trailer,
[39:12] Speaker 4: that's what we were looking for. We started dealing with
[39:15] Speaker 4: some weird tree dropping a bunch of pine cones up
[39:18] Speaker 4: the trail and it was like raining pine cones that
[39:21] Speaker 4: were like, what the heck is that? And we foct
[39:23] Speaker 4: that was just a squirrel like drop of dropping pine cones.
[39:25] Speaker 4: But it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen as
[39:27] Speaker 4: far as earlier. Yeah, yeah, And so I didn't take
[39:31] Speaker 4: time because like going in it's a really it's just
[39:34] Speaker 4: a dense forest. I mean, it's so you know, it's
[39:36] Speaker 4: so thick, and we would have had to like drop
[39:39] Speaker 4: off this ravine and go into it and look for
[39:41] Speaker 4: you know, stuff down there. We just we just didn't
[39:43] Speaker 4: do that.
[39:43] Speaker 1: We looked around the camp like where we were, but
[39:46] Speaker 1: I did not spend much of time going into the
[39:49] Speaker 1: into the woods. Sense did you notice I was mentioned
[39:54] Speaker 1: and red stiff and things, so nothing out of the
[39:57] Speaker 1: ordinary light trees that looked like they were arched over
[40:02] Speaker 1: or falcon off that you know eight to ten feet.
[40:05] Speaker 4: Up, No, sir, Nope, nope, nope, nope. Yeah, what do
[40:16] Speaker 4: we have?
[40:17] Speaker 3: Probably if I just know what I usually do, it's
[40:20] Speaker 3: either not dogs and steaks, you know how dogs of steaks.
[40:24] Speaker 2: I probably had a steak cooked over the barbecue or
[40:28] Speaker 2: over the fire.
[40:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all.
[40:29] Speaker 4: We usually steaks, hot dogs, you know, normal stuff like that,
[40:32] Speaker 4: normal camp food. MH.
[40:36] Speaker 1: I have heard from and it's a thing where yeah,
[40:40] Speaker 1: it's it's.
[40:41] Speaker 5: Definitely normal cant food.
[40:42] Speaker 1: But it's kind of a pattern sometimes when people are
[40:46] Speaker 1: camping out and they have stuff happen on the night,
[40:49] Speaker 1: there's usually some form of neatked like usually bacon, bring
[40:57] Speaker 1: in whatever is filing it.
[40:58] Speaker 5: You know, it's not actually a guy who's just having
[41:01] Speaker 5: pouring on the top.
[41:02] Speaker 4: And no, of course, yeah, we're we're really really careful.
[41:07] Speaker 4: We make sure our stuff's all locked up too, like.
[41:10] Speaker 3: So that kind of goes back to like later in
[41:13] Speaker 3: the night at eleven thirty or whatever time it was
[41:16] Speaker 3: when I started hearing activity. And the first thing I
[41:18] Speaker 3: thought was, Oh, there's like scavengers out there. And you know,
[41:25] Speaker 3: I was listening like for like even a bear or whatever,
[41:29] Speaker 3: and that's that's not what I heard.
[41:31] Speaker 2: I didn't hear the snorting.
[41:33] Speaker 3: I just heard loud footsteps that sounded like people walking
[41:37] Speaker 3: around their camp and and I knew it wasn't any
[41:41] Speaker 3: of us, and so I was, I, you know, I
[41:45] Speaker 3: was weirded out by that. And I think that's part
[41:48] Speaker 3: of what caused me to get so uncomfortable, is because
[41:52] Speaker 3: I knew where our team, our our friend group was,
[41:56] Speaker 3: and I knew it no longer just sounded like little.
[42:00] Speaker 3: It sounded like people actively moving around our campsite that
[42:03] Speaker 3: shouldn't be there.
[42:08] Speaker 1: The next morning and you know, ahold of drew good
[42:11] Speaker 1: stuff and is probably talking about, Hey, how was you unite?
[42:17] Speaker 1: Was it a thing where the feeling was, Okay, something
[42:21] Speaker 1: happened here and we needed let's just read or what
[42:24] Speaker 1: was the feeling like I've read the morning after all
[42:27] Speaker 1: this saff.
[42:28] Speaker 4: So yeah, okay, so yeah, I was. I was personally
[42:31] Speaker 4: ready to go. My daughter was definitely freaked out. She
[42:35] Speaker 4: had covered up all the windows. When she heard the
[42:38] Speaker 4: radio static, she had covered up all the windows in
[42:40] Speaker 4: the jeep. She was she was kind of freaked out.
[42:43] Speaker 1: You know. I was ready to go because I felt,
[42:45] Speaker 1: like I said, I felt.
[42:46] Speaker 4: Uneasy when I went in there. And but our two
[42:50] Speaker 4: buddies that were behind Cody, one of them he has
[42:54] Speaker 4: a seatpath machine, and so he was like, you didn't
[42:57] Speaker 4: hear anything. But the guy behind him, like, like we
[43:01] Speaker 4: said earlier, he had heard all the motion around the
[43:04] Speaker 4: camp like Cody did. But it was like, you know,
[43:06] Speaker 4: if I was to say one hundred our group, it
[43:10] Speaker 4: was eighty percent Cody, myself and my daughter that really
[43:13] Speaker 4: really you know, went through uh these these weird, you know, situations,
[43:18] Speaker 4: and so we talked about it, you know. Matt. Matt
[43:23] Speaker 4: confirmed that he had heard all the commotion around the campsite.
[43:25] Speaker 4: Didn't know what to think of it. But as far
[43:29] Speaker 4: as like we were ready to go, you know.
[43:34] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was kind of the plan already,
[43:39] Speaker 3: but we were. I would say, I was relieved that
[43:42] Speaker 3: we're finally going to get out of that location.
[43:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, I got the river. We didn't feel anything about that.
[43:47] Speaker 4: We anywhere else or anywhere else I've been. I've never
[43:50] Speaker 4: felt uneasy being out in the woods ever. This is
[43:53] Speaker 4: the first time and I've been on the woods a lot, right.
[43:56] Speaker 3: I would say the only exception to that was like
[43:58] Speaker 3: Wellington just because that's creepy lower around. Yeah, Wellington, but
[44:03] Speaker 3: we're just the old uh train crash site, yeah, from
[44:09] Speaker 3: long ago.
[44:11] Speaker 1: But as far as like.
[44:12] Speaker 4: Being out in the woods, uh, you know, man that
[44:17] Speaker 4: never really have any issues there.
[44:21] Speaker 1: It's it's really it is really weed and affecting them.
[44:25] Speaker 1: He how how far away would you estimate that this
[44:28] Speaker 1: is from the canon and abe canon, I would probably
[44:34] Speaker 1: say thirty minutes.
[44:36] Speaker 4: So basically, if you if you if you look at
[44:39] Speaker 4: it on Google Earth, you know, we got down to
[44:41] Speaker 4: where we were going to go down Muddy Muddy Pine
[44:44] Speaker 4: obviously runs right next to Muddy River, and Muddy River
[44:47] Speaker 4: basically comes off a glacier. I believe that's right next
[44:50] Speaker 4: to Ape Canyon and and so you.
[44:53] Speaker 1: Can actually track.
[44:57] Speaker 4: They kind of intersect in a way, so you can
[44:59] Speaker 4: see eight Canyon right there. Muddy River runs right through
[45:03] Speaker 4: the same area, and we're back west or excuse me east,
[45:06] Speaker 4: like a good you know, thirty minutes, I would I
[45:10] Speaker 4: would assume right, because I couldn't get through that gate.
[45:13] Speaker 4: That gate wouldn't let us through, and so I'm just
[45:15] Speaker 4: kind of ballparking it, you know, it's it's funny. Well
[45:21] Speaker 4: I don't.
[45:21] Speaker 5: I might not iron this in book, won't. I'll just
[45:23] Speaker 5: throw it out.
[45:24] Speaker 1: So you know how like Expedition big butt was there
[45:29] Speaker 1: in there thing where it was like what was that
[45:30] Speaker 1: the algorithm? And like I sing, that's how it was
[45:32] Speaker 1: worth it? Right, right? Of course, So I have one
[45:34] Speaker 1: night I would win if I get that with sad
[45:37] Speaker 1: GDC what it would.
[45:38] Speaker 5: Say if everything tell me where the bed the crest
[45:43] Speaker 5: place in the US would be for needs to have
[45:46] Speaker 5: an encounter.
[45:48] Speaker 1: I literally told me the area between Bate Canyon and oh,
[45:54] Speaker 1: really that's really interesting. The number one spot in all
[45:57] Speaker 1: of North Americans. Really, that's wild.
[46:02] Speaker 2: We're bringing up that gentleman home in that reach shout.
[46:05] Speaker 4: So so Cody, Cody's talking to me about he brought
[46:08] Speaker 4: up the fact. Hey, directly after this. I'm part of
[46:12] Speaker 4: a Pacific Northwest Overlanders. It's a Facebook page and I
[46:16] Speaker 4: do a lot of videos about our trips. I love
[46:19] Speaker 4: doing videos and our trips and pictures because I mean,
[46:22] Speaker 4: we live in such a diverse part of the US,
[46:26] Speaker 4: and so I always take pictures and videos and I
[46:29] Speaker 4: always post them just to share, you know, Hey, this
[46:31] Speaker 4: soul we did YadA YadA, just like normal social media, right,
[46:34] Speaker 4: And I get this. I get this, this private message
[46:38] Speaker 4: from this ex marine and he's like, hey, man, I
[46:41] Speaker 4: just wanted to tell you you have amazing photos. You know,
[46:44] Speaker 4: this is on Facebook Messenger. Never met this guy in
[46:47] Speaker 4: my life. And he goes, you have amazing photos mating video. Man,
[46:50] Speaker 4: thanks for sharing. He goes, can I can I ask
[46:52] Speaker 4: you a really weird question? And I'm like, yeah, what's
[46:55] Speaker 4: going on? He goes, have you ever heard or seen
[46:58] Speaker 4: anything odd in that for And I was like, man, well,
[47:02] Speaker 4: you know, honestly, this is what just happened. And I've
[47:05] Speaker 4: never had anything like this happen. And he goes, I
[47:08] Speaker 4: was up there two or three of my friends, I think,
[47:11] Speaker 4: he said, March same year, twenty twenty five. And he goes,
[47:16] Speaker 4: you know, he goes, I've been all over this world
[47:18] Speaker 4: and I have been, you know, did tours. And he goes,
[47:21] Speaker 4: we camped in the Gifford in the same area. Not
[47:25] Speaker 4: exactly where we were, obviously, but it's in the same
[47:27] Speaker 4: you know, you know, southeast area of Saint Helens, and
[47:32] Speaker 4: he goes, the only thing I can explain is that
[47:35] Speaker 4: in the middle of the night, it sounded like we
[47:37] Speaker 4: were surrounded by apes. It's just monkeys going wild in
[47:42] Speaker 4: the middle of the night, screaming and hollering. And he goes,
[47:45] Speaker 4: I've never I've never witnessed anything like that in my life.
[47:48] Speaker 4: He goes, it was the weirdest scenario. And he goes,
[47:52] Speaker 4: we didn't know what to do but get out of there,
[47:54] Speaker 4: and we left. And so, you know, it kind of
[47:57] Speaker 4: just confirms like, besides the radio static, which is just
[48:01] Speaker 4: freaking weird, you know, there's weird stuff going on in
[48:04] Speaker 4: the Giffert PINCHI that that that forest, the Dark Divide
[48:08] Speaker 4: is just something. I mean, you can just drive down
[48:11] Speaker 4: there and it feels different than anywhere else in the
[48:13] Speaker 4: Cascade Range, you know, eastern Washington and western Washington. The
[48:18] Speaker 4: different pinchil is different. There's something different.
[48:20] Speaker 1: There, no, absolutely, And that story reminds me of another
[48:28] Speaker 1: individual interviewed, which was I have to say it was
[48:33] Speaker 1: somewhere around in Mount Saint Helens and pretty much she
[48:38] Speaker 1: broke down with her band life set up.
[48:44] Speaker 5: The Rangers came out to try.
[48:46] Speaker 1: To help her, and then all of a sudden, like
[48:48] Speaker 1: they started hearing noises like that surrounding them. It's like
[48:54] Speaker 1: pretty much the rangers, Yeah, help out the blown mind.
[48:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's picked up.
[49:01] Speaker 5: That happens in this forest is absolutely wild.
[49:03] Speaker 1: And the force goes all the way over to Mount Abbam.
[49:05] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[49:06] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[49:06] Speaker 4: The the whole dark Divide is like it's uh, it's
[49:09] Speaker 4: such a dense area between Saint Alen's Rainier and uh,
[49:12] Speaker 4: you know, Adams and Manhood. Yeah, and it's just like
[49:16] Speaker 4: you know, we we we did another trip down to
[49:18] Speaker 4: the to the big lava bed, which is where a
[49:21] Speaker 4: lot of people go missing. You know, I wanted to
[49:23] Speaker 4: camp down that area because it gets even even deeper,
[49:26] Speaker 4: you know. And uh, but we we we're going to
[49:28] Speaker 4: go back to the site.
[49:31] Speaker 1: Uh when it when it finally you know, thaws out
[49:33] Speaker 1: in the spring summertime, we're gonna go back and we're
[49:35] Speaker 1: gonna spend probably two or three days there, uh, just
[49:38] Speaker 1: to just to stay there. I was actually gonna ask
[49:42] Speaker 1: if you had gotten that that's really cool. So now
[49:46] Speaker 1: here's the question. When you go the second time, what
[49:50] Speaker 1: is your your focus going the how are you going.
[49:54] Speaker 5: Interacting with that area.
[49:56] Speaker 4: I think I haven't really thought about it, but I'm
[49:58] Speaker 4: just one thing we keep we keep kind of bringing up.
[50:01] Speaker 4: Is what we do is when we map our plans,
[50:04] Speaker 4: we say, Okay, tonight, we're gonna stay here and then
[50:06] Speaker 4: we're gonna do this sixty mile track and we're gonna
[50:09] Speaker 4: stay here and we're gonna do another sixty mile track,
[50:11] Speaker 4: or we're gonna stay here and then go home until
[50:13] Speaker 4: we cover a bunch of land, right because we want
[50:15] Speaker 4: to see different things, but we're gonna actually stay there.
[50:19] Speaker 4: We're gonna get there maybe a Friday night, and we're
[50:21] Speaker 4: gonna stay through Sunday. And I think it's just gonna
[50:24] Speaker 4: you know, I'm just gonna camp. I'm not gonna do
[50:26] Speaker 4: anything special, you know, I'm not I'm not out hunting
[50:28] Speaker 4: for bigfoot. I'm just seeing, you know, what what happens
[50:32] Speaker 4: in my opinion. You know, I haven't really talked to
[50:33] Speaker 4: anybody about it, but that's that's kind of our goal,
[50:36] Speaker 4: just to go there and spend time.
[50:38] Speaker 3: I mean, personally, being like the skeptic hearing noises, I
[50:45] Speaker 3: can't explain. I say, I'd like to see something to
[50:51] Speaker 3: like show me, you know, all that maybe this is
[50:57] Speaker 3: like Bigfoot's reel or whatever. But again, you know what
[51:01] Speaker 3: happens once you do see that here, your world would
[51:06] Speaker 3: be flipped upside down. There's enough weird sense that's been
[51:09] Speaker 3: going on. I you know, for us, it's like a
[51:11] Speaker 3: go out camp hang out. If something happens, cool, if
[51:15] Speaker 3: something doesn't, uh, you know whatever. But we just knew
[51:20] Speaker 3: it was kind of a weird it was creepy. Uh,
[51:22] Speaker 3: it was a weird situation. But uh, you know, we
[51:26] Speaker 3: weren't ever in to our knowledge, in any sort of danger.
[51:31] Speaker 3: So it's kind of like, hey, go back there and
[51:33] Speaker 3: see what that was all about.
[51:35] Speaker 4: But I'm not playing on you know, we don't go
[51:36] Speaker 4: out and do woodknocks and we don't do that not
[51:41] Speaker 4: serious stuff.
[51:41] Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not interested in that, you know. Yeah,
[51:44] Speaker 1: I get at the end of the day, you're you're
[51:46] Speaker 1: over the injuries that are going out having.
[51:48] Speaker 4: Enjoying nature, yep, enjoying nature, you know, and we're just
[51:52] Speaker 4: blessed to be hire so.
[51:55] Speaker 1: And you mentioned, you know, fouting to the other gentleman.
[51:59] Speaker 5: I can't imagine.
[52:00] Speaker 1: And the amount of other Overlanders that have had experiences
[52:05] Speaker 1: like the either don't know how to deal with it
[52:08] Speaker 1: or it was just like yeah, whatever, I'm not gonna
[52:09] Speaker 1: talk about it. And I mean I've talked to Jimmy Tongueay,
[52:14] Speaker 1: he's an over rander as well. He's all heavy into
[52:18] Speaker 1: and so bigfoot research. He's got a podcast off road,
[52:22] Speaker 1: the x Y s Oh cool and just just a
[52:27] Speaker 1: good guy. I don't know if it's not out, it's
[52:28] Speaker 1: out in a few days, but that might be a
[52:31] Speaker 1: guy who to talk to if you were want to
[52:34] Speaker 1: talk to another overlander and the awesome who had He's
[52:37] Speaker 1: had some big, good experiences while he's there different parts
[52:41] Speaker 1: of Washington.
[52:43] Speaker 4: And you know, you know, Jeremiah, it's like both of
[52:48] Speaker 4: my experiences, right, I had one when I was fourteen,
[52:51] Speaker 4: and and I can't definitely say it's bigfoot, right, and
[52:56] Speaker 4: in either either one of them, it lines up up right,
[53:01] Speaker 4: it lines up. But being that I didn't see anything,
[53:06] Speaker 4: you know, it's tough to say, right, but it seems
[53:08] Speaker 4: to run parallel other than weird radio static, it runs
[53:11] Speaker 4: parallel with what other people have experienced. And so you
[53:15] Speaker 4: know that's kind of where we put it.
[53:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, for question for both of you, So after you
[53:23] Speaker 1: have this experience, how has this affected your life afterwards,
[53:31] Speaker 1: and so kind of excites me. I have I really
[53:36] Speaker 1: don't have any any sort of any sort of fear.
[53:39] Speaker 1: I'm just more I'm more interested. It makes me more interested.
[53:44] Speaker 1: Like I said, I have not been a person that's been,
[53:46] Speaker 1: you know, chasing Bigfoot my whole life. I'm forty four
[53:48] Speaker 1: years old, and.
[53:50] Speaker 4: You know, as I was growing up, you see the video,
[53:52] Speaker 4: you know, Patty and whatnot, You're like, well, you know,
[53:54] Speaker 4: maybe my thought was always like, hey, maybe there's something
[53:57] Speaker 4: out there.
[53:57] Speaker 1: Maybe it isn't.
[53:58] Speaker 4: I figured it was, you know, some sort of animal,
[54:01] Speaker 4: if at all, right, but there's so many different routes
[54:04] Speaker 4: you can go here, and you know, twenty seventeen, I
[54:07] Speaker 4: started listening to podcasts and I started hearing people's stories
[54:11] Speaker 4: and it's just like you hear things that people are
[54:13] Speaker 4: not going to make up. It doesn't make sense that
[54:16] Speaker 4: the details are just not something that would come naturally right,
[54:19] Speaker 4: and so they had to they had to, like they
[54:21] Speaker 4: had to like see something right.
[54:23] Speaker 1: It's that kind of peaud my interest.
[54:25] Speaker 4: But as far as like what the experience did to me,
[54:29] Speaker 4: it made me more more interested. I guess maybe you know,
[54:32] Speaker 4: I want to go out more I want to explore more.
[54:34] Speaker 4: I want to I love listening to people's stories, So
[54:37] Speaker 4: I guess just piqued my interests more. I don't know
[54:39] Speaker 4: about mister.
[54:40] Speaker 3: Frost, but yeah, for me, it's just a curiosity thing.
[54:43] Speaker 2: What the heck is?
[54:44] Speaker 3: I mean, there's so much going on right now. There's
[54:51] Speaker 3: talk of hey, now now it's okay believe that aliens
[54:54] Speaker 3: are real, right or you know, now bigfoots.
[54:57] Speaker 2: Like especially in Washington State, is not such a what
[55:04] Speaker 2: there's not such a.
[55:05] Speaker 3: Stigma with it. That doesn't necessarily mean he's real, but
[55:10] Speaker 3: like it's more acceptablely even just entertain the idea. And
[55:14] Speaker 3: that's kind of where I lay. It's like, I'm open
[55:16] Speaker 3: minded to the possibility. Uh, I'm definitely curious if I'm
[55:20] Speaker 3: I'm hearing weird noises that don't necessarily line up.
[55:25] Speaker 1: Uh.
[55:26] Speaker 2: You know, we both lived.
[55:28] Speaker 3: In Washington, like you said, our whole lives, and so
[55:30] Speaker 3: we know what coyotes sound like, and even like wildcats
[55:34] Speaker 3: and foxes and stuff like that elk bugling, So we
[55:39] Speaker 3: understand that there's weird noises. But to to to hear this,
[55:45] Speaker 3: which is so seemingly so out out outside those noises, I'm.
[55:51] Speaker 4: Like well, what what is that?
[55:55] Speaker 2: You know, what are the other possibility?
[55:58] Speaker 1: It's interesting, it's fun, and then at the end of
[56:02] Speaker 1: the day, it's uh, I look at this one of
[56:06] Speaker 1: the world's last big mysteries.
[56:09] Speaker 5: We're in can't find and you're wanting to find something
[56:14] Speaker 5: something you can't find the.
[56:15] Speaker 1: Whole answer in a book or on the internet. Act
[56:19] Speaker 1: like go out there when I fil days and.
[56:22] Speaker 5: Finally pig your apple. It's so so cool, right, I
[56:28] Speaker 5: love that.
[56:28] Speaker 1: But you know a few things as we start to
[56:31] Speaker 1: come towards the end of our time here. So first off, guys,
[56:35] Speaker 1: I want to make sure that you were able to
[56:36] Speaker 1: share everything that member had come on the show just
[56:39] Speaker 1: there for Yeah, I want to. I think I covered
[56:43] Speaker 1: really for sure. And the other thing is, so now,
[56:51] Speaker 1: when when I have people sign up for the show,
[56:54] Speaker 1: I actually have a question that says, hey, if you
[56:57] Speaker 1: want people to contact you, uh, put some info in
[57:01] Speaker 1: And so I guess the question for you, and that
[57:04] Speaker 1: is it a thing where you are open to having the.
[57:06] Speaker 4: People cond I'm totally helping. Yeah, yeah, totally open to it.
[57:11] Speaker 4: I'm more than willing to share, you know, whatever information
[57:14] Speaker 4: I have or experiences I have. I'm i have you
[57:17] Speaker 4: know nothing to it is what it is, right and
[57:20] Speaker 4: so totally open for it.
[57:22] Speaker 5: Awesome.
[57:23] Speaker 1: And then who knows, there might be another listener out
[57:25] Speaker 1: there that's like, tell them, magness, I camped in that
[57:27] Speaker 1: same spot. Happen more and that would be a fantastic
[57:31] Speaker 1: I mean that stuff happened through this show. Yeah, is
[57:35] Speaker 1: there a way that's best for for trying to constantly
[57:39] Speaker 1: what's what's normal? I mean, what are the people? I mean,
[57:41] Speaker 1: I'm free, my cell phone's good, my email, I mean,
[57:46] Speaker 1: it's whatever you're comfortable with. But usually people will do
[57:49] Speaker 1: like a Facebook or you know or yeah, Facebook's fine,
[57:53] Speaker 1: Facebook's fine.
[57:53] Speaker 4: I'm totally good with that mess messenger, you know whatever.
[57:57] Speaker 3: I would say the same same for Cody, for me
[58:00] Speaker 3: giving out my phone numbers less, I don't deal, but.
[58:03] Speaker 1: It doesn't care. I don't.
[58:04] Speaker 4: I'm more personally, I'm not giving my addressing.
[58:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Well, guys, it will be extremely interesting to
[58:13] Speaker 1: see what happens when you're able to go out there again.
