[1:15] Speaker 1: bullet points of the kind of stories we would talk
[1:17] Speaker 1: about and we'll take it from there. This is an
[1:22] Speaker 1: action packed episode, so I say we just get right
[1:26] Speaker 1: into it. Let's toss it on over to my conversation
[1:29] Speaker 1: now with John. Now, John is one of these people
[1:35] Speaker 1: that lived in a haunted house. Can you believe it
[1:39] Speaker 1: got a lot of haunted houses, a lot of haunted
[1:42] Speaker 1: homes on this week's episode. So here we go. First
[1:46] Speaker 1: phone call, take it away, John. Oh my god, it's
[1:58] Speaker 1: John from California. Yeah, Hello John, how's it going.
[2:03] Speaker 3: Hey, Roz, I'm doing great. Thank you for having me.
[2:06] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, thanks for doing this. Hang on a second.
[2:11] Speaker 1: You've been watching the TV show I'm on.
[2:14] Speaker 3: Yes, I've been binging it. I've been listening to your
[2:17] Speaker 3: podcast for a couple of months now, and the minute
[2:20] Speaker 3: I heard about the show, I waited anxiously for it
[2:23] Speaker 3: to start. And I've been watching that and then listening
[2:25] Speaker 3: to your interviews with the cast members in between. So
[2:29] Speaker 3: it's been kind of a fun experience to hear your
[2:31] Speaker 3: commentary with your cast members and then watch the show.
[2:34] Speaker 2: Cute.
[2:36] Speaker 1: Well, it seems like you are no stranger to going
[2:41] Speaker 1: to haunted places. Now, what is the deal with this?
[2:45] Speaker 1: So you spent a bunch of time. Did you grow
[2:48] Speaker 1: up in a haunted house?
[2:50] Speaker 3: Yeah? About eighth grade. So back in ninety six, my
[2:54] Speaker 3: parents bought a house, just a normal house, nothing with
[2:58] Speaker 3: like a super long history. You know. It was about
[3:01] Speaker 3: thirty years old at the time. My parents purchased it
[3:04] Speaker 3: from an older couple that basically the woman was sick
[3:10] Speaker 3: with cancer. And for the last year there they they
[3:14] Speaker 3: had only lived downstairs, they couldn't even use at the
[3:16] Speaker 3: upper level, so they kind of begrudgingly sold their house.
[3:22] Speaker 3: The man was a carpenter and had done a bunch
[3:25] Speaker 3: of custom work to the house, so they really didn't
[3:27] Speaker 3: want to leave, but we bought it from them, and
[3:31] Speaker 3: pretty shortly after the fun started with the ghosts.
[3:35] Speaker 1: What happened.
[3:37] Speaker 3: So there's been lots of little different occurrences, but over
[3:40] Speaker 3: the years when we were there, oftentimes we would hear
[3:44] Speaker 3: footsteps moving across from one end of the second story
[3:49] Speaker 3: to the other when literally no one would be awake.
[3:53] Speaker 3: There's no excuse for it, but we could definitely hear
[3:55] Speaker 3: people walking from one into the house to the other.
[3:58] Speaker 1: What So, do you think that since they couldn't be
[4:01] Speaker 1: there when they were alive, they're like, we're going to
[4:03] Speaker 1: go upstairs now.
[4:04] Speaker 3: Well it's funny because, you know, my dad, after all
[4:07] Speaker 3: of these occurrences that we'll talk through, he kind of
[4:11] Speaker 3: made the connection at the end. He said, you know,
[4:14] Speaker 3: I think that the previous owners moved back in. They
[4:18] Speaker 3: actually apparently when they sold the house. The woman passed
[4:23] Speaker 3: away pretty soon after that. I think within a couple
[4:26] Speaker 3: of months, and the husband I think only lasted a
[4:30] Speaker 3: few more months after that, probably passed away from a
[4:32] Speaker 3: broken heart. And my dad swears that they just kind
[4:35] Speaker 3: of came back and moved back into their own house.
[4:38] Speaker 1: It's very beetle Jews.
[4:40] Speaker 3: Yes, exactly.
[4:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, they like came back and they're like, who are
[4:43] Speaker 1: these people?
[4:44] Speaker 3: Totally. I mean, we didn't have anything super negative happened,
[4:48] Speaker 3: but I think it was more of kind of like that, hey,
[4:50] Speaker 3: we're here, we're just kind of occupying the space with you,
[4:54] Speaker 3: you know.
[4:55] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, So what other kind of stuff would happen?
[4:58] Speaker 3: So, like I said, the I was a carpenter, and
[5:02] Speaker 3: so you had done all these like extra like embellishments
[5:04] Speaker 3: to the house. And one of them was this old
[5:07] Speaker 3: style like brass knocker like picture of a brass ring
[5:12] Speaker 3: on the back garage door. So the door that goes
[5:15] Speaker 3: from the dining room into the garage, right, and so
[5:18] Speaker 3: there's no wind there. It's totally enclosed by the house.
[5:22] Speaker 3: We would hear that thing knocking, like quietly, sometimes not
[5:26] Speaker 3: so quietly. Often we'd heard it in the evening. My
[5:29] Speaker 3: sister would hear it. She lived with us, came back
[5:32] Speaker 3: to live with us at one point, and would hear
[5:34] Speaker 3: that knocker go and then would hear footsteps across the
[5:38] Speaker 3: hardwood floor from the dining room into the living room
[5:41] Speaker 3: where she was sleeping. She said she would just be
[5:45] Speaker 3: like paralyzed and kind of pull the covers up and
[5:47] Speaker 3: just like hope for it to pass.
[5:50] Speaker 1: I mean, that's creepy. Yeah, it's a little scary totally.
[5:55] Speaker 3: That was a little scary, but still nothing like too bad.
[5:58] Speaker 3: And I think she had kind of pulled the covers
[6:00] Speaker 3: up and would get past it. My dog was a
[6:04] Speaker 3: Labrador Rottweiler, like the sweetest dog possible. He was just
[6:08] Speaker 3: like a love dog with animals and people alike. And
[6:11] Speaker 3: once in a while he would just turn and look
[6:14] Speaker 3: at either the stairwell or like a corner of the room,
[6:17] Speaker 3: and the hair would raise up on his back and
[6:19] Speaker 3: he would start to growl, like the deep, deep growl
[6:22] Speaker 3: that he never would do in the normal circumstances. And
[6:26] Speaker 3: that happens multiple times. So definitely the dog was picking
[6:30] Speaker 3: up on something as well.
[6:32] Speaker 1: But do you feel like they liked you guys being there?
[6:36] Speaker 3: I think so. The only scary thing that kind of
[6:40] Speaker 3: happened was we've had multiple drooms that took place, like
[6:45] Speaker 3: different family members that kind of like afterwards we connected
[6:49] Speaker 3: it with probably ghosts or something happening in the house.
[6:53] Speaker 3: My dad one time woke up kind of out of
[6:57] Speaker 3: a deep sleep and there was a man holding a
[7:01] Speaker 3: rifle and my dad was looking down the barrel of
[7:04] Speaker 3: the rifle, so it was pointed out his face, and
[7:08] Speaker 3: he just kind of like, you know, kind of instinctively
[7:11] Speaker 3: sat up and swiped the gun out of his face.
[7:14] Speaker 3: And of course then he was awake, right, and so
[7:16] Speaker 3: I was like to him, Okay, just just a really
[7:19] Speaker 3: scary dream. He got up, he couldn't go back to sleep,
[7:23] Speaker 3: so he got up and went across the hall to
[7:25] Speaker 3: the computer to kind of just like look at the
[7:27] Speaker 3: internet or whatever. And my mom felt him kind of stir,
[7:31] Speaker 3: but she was asleep. She remembers that. And then she
[7:35] Speaker 3: had a dream that a woman, like an old decrepit
[7:38] Speaker 3: woman was kind of crouched by the bed and pulled
[7:42] Speaker 3: out a syringe and it was going to stick it
[7:44] Speaker 3: in my mom's leg and my mom the same thing
[7:48] Speaker 3: just instinctively kind of pushed her away or you know,
[7:51] Speaker 3: and the woman instead of sticking it in her legs
[7:54] Speaker 3: she stuck the syringe in her own neck. That breaked
[7:58] Speaker 3: my mom out, woke her up, and she kind of
[8:01] Speaker 3: couldn't go back to sleep, and she went across all
[8:02] Speaker 3: to my dad and said, I just had this dream.
[8:04] Speaker 3: And my dad was like, that's so bizarre because I
[8:07] Speaker 3: literally just woke up like two minutes ago from a
[8:09] Speaker 3: really horrible dream. So they were both kind of having
[8:13] Speaker 3: these experiences around the same time.
[8:15] Speaker 1: It's so beatlejuice. It's so these people learning how to
[8:20] Speaker 1: be ghosts and trying to be scary.
[8:22] Speaker 3: Totally, totally. Like the other dream that I'll mention is
[8:27] Speaker 3: my husband's boyfriend at the time and I were sleeping downstairs.
[8:32] Speaker 3: Just a quick background, my husband has kind of has
[8:35] Speaker 3: night terrors once in a while, the kind that like
[8:37] Speaker 3: he has a little bit of sleep prolesis, you know,
[8:39] Speaker 3: and you can tell he's struggling to wake up. And
[8:42] Speaker 3: I am a sleepwalker. Not every night, but it happens.
[8:47] Speaker 3: And so we've got this kind of like funky sleep
[8:50] Speaker 3: situation to begin with. And we are sleeping in my
[8:56] Speaker 3: room and I wake up to a huge, like I swear,
[9:00] Speaker 3: like a ten foot shadow standing at the foot of
[9:03] Speaker 3: the bed, like no shape, no face, but like a
[9:06] Speaker 3: tall shadow and it freaked me out. So I'm like
[9:09] Speaker 3: kind of thrashing a little bit, Like I'm sitting up
[9:12] Speaker 3: and I find out that Gabriel's waking me up, like so, okay,
[9:16] Speaker 3: he's waking me up from a dream. And then Gabriel
[9:20] Speaker 3: is it's hard to describe this, he's having a dream
[9:23] Speaker 3: about like a kind of a sleek prolysis type dream,
[9:26] Speaker 3: and then I'm waking him up. So we're both kind
[9:29] Speaker 3: of in it's weird, like trying to wake each other
[9:31] Speaker 3: up from a dream. And before I said anything, when
[9:34] Speaker 3: we finally were awake, he mentioned a shadow that he
[9:37] Speaker 3: saw at the foot of the bed, so we both
[9:39] Speaker 3: saw the same thing, but we were having two different.
[9:41] Speaker 1: Experiences and this was in the house.
[9:44] Speaker 3: This is in the house as well.
[9:45] Speaker 1: Yes, what is that that is? So I mean, come on,
[9:50] Speaker 1: I feel like at a certain point it's like, okay, yes,
[9:52] Speaker 1: it's a dream, but it's like not a dream. It's
[9:56] Speaker 1: like it's really happening.
[9:58] Speaker 3: Totally, if not a dream. When when you turn to
[10:00] Speaker 3: the person and before saying anything, they kind of like
[10:02] Speaker 3: say what you were thinking, you know, or what you experienced.
[10:05] Speaker 3: It's a little more than that I think.
[10:07] Speaker 1: I love a shared dream situation. Those are such good stories.
[10:12] Speaker 1: Did anybody ever like I mean, you said your parents
[10:16] Speaker 1: kind of saw these people with a gun and a
[10:19] Speaker 1: syringe pointed at them, right, But like, did you guys
[10:23] Speaker 1: ever while awake see these goes?
[10:27] Speaker 3: Yeah, so not too often. It was more like the
[10:30] Speaker 3: sounds and whatnot much. One time, my husband A lot
[10:34] Speaker 3: of these happened with my husband. Maybe he's the culprit.
[10:39] Speaker 3: My husband boyfriend. At the time, we were getting ready
[10:43] Speaker 3: to go. We're going to go to the beach because
[10:45] Speaker 3: Santa Day is really close to Santa Truth, California. So
[10:47] Speaker 3: we're like kind of rushing around the house getting our
[10:49] Speaker 3: stuff together, and we're both walking out the front door
[10:53] Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh, crap, I forgot my keys, and
[10:55] Speaker 3: so he's standing out on the front patio and I
[10:58] Speaker 3: walk back in and my keys are just in the kitchen.
[11:00] Speaker 3: So I'm like literally in and out. And as I'm
[11:03] Speaker 3: drabbing my keys off the counter, I hear Gable outside
[11:06] Speaker 3: go hi, and I'm like, okay, maybe someone for my
[11:09] Speaker 3: family is getting here or you know, he's waiting to
[11:12] Speaker 3: a neighbor. And as he's saying hi, I'm literally walking
[11:15] Speaker 3: out the door because it was that quick. But I
[11:17] Speaker 3: was in and out and he looked at me and
[11:19] Speaker 3: he goes, how did you do that? And I said what?
[11:22] Speaker 3: And he said, I just waved at you in the
[11:24] Speaker 3: window upstairs, and I was like, post shit, like no
[11:30] Speaker 3: one is here. We literally went upstairs to see if
[11:33] Speaker 3: maybe someone from the family was home that we didn't
[11:35] Speaker 3: realize and it was completely empty. But my husband waved
[11:39] Speaker 3: someone in the upstairs window.
[11:41] Speaker 1: Hang on a second. So he just mistook it as
[11:46] Speaker 1: you or was the ghost doing an impression of you.
[11:50] Speaker 3: I think he just kind of saw someone and figured
[11:52] Speaker 3: it was me that I had gone up there to
[11:54] Speaker 3: get my keys, right. I don't think he saw like
[11:56] Speaker 3: my face on the ghost or anything, but he was
[11:59] Speaker 3: just like I hope he didn't. I don't know. I
[12:02] Speaker 3: never asked him, but I think he just kind of
[12:04] Speaker 3: assumed and he's like, how the heck did you get
[12:06] Speaker 3: down the stairs and out the door? Literally and like
[12:09] Speaker 3: a blink of an eye, you know. So it was
[12:12] Speaker 3: just another creepy into then of a kind of a
[12:14] Speaker 3: little experience.
[12:15] Speaker 1: Well at least the guy was not pulling out a rifle,
[12:19] Speaker 1: I know, right, and he was just waving this time totally.
[12:23] Speaker 3: I'm glad I didn't have that rifle dream that that
[12:26] Speaker 3: one was pretty rough.
[12:28] Speaker 1: Tell us the fireplace story.
[12:31] Speaker 3: Oh okay, that one's fun. My husband again, I swear,
[12:35] Speaker 3: maybe I need to do some investigating. I think my
[12:37] Speaker 3: husband's a bit like connected with this realm. Were sitting
[12:41] Speaker 3: watching a movie and it's kind of the time of year,
[12:45] Speaker 3: like this time of year probably where we turned on
[12:47] Speaker 3: the fireplace for the first time in the fall. And
[12:50] Speaker 3: it's a gas fireplace that has like a kind of
[12:52] Speaker 3: half circle metal grate around it, and it's kiled, and
[12:57] Speaker 3: we're watching the movie and we look over from my
[12:59] Speaker 3: head and looks over and he goes, where did that
[13:01] Speaker 3: footprint come from? And I look over and behind the
[13:05] Speaker 3: half circle metal grate on the tile is a huge,
[13:09] Speaker 3: like twelve inch footprint. You can see the toes, you
[13:13] Speaker 3: can see the outline of the footprint. It's kind of
[13:15] Speaker 3: like a pristine footprint in the dust. I'm like, that's
[13:18] Speaker 3: bizarre because one, I'm the tallest person in my family
[13:22] Speaker 3: and probably the biggest foot and I go to investigate
[13:24] Speaker 3: it and this thing is bigger than my foot. Oh
[13:26] Speaker 3: my god, right, And two the placement of it is
[13:31] Speaker 3: so awkward, Like you talk about it all the time.
[13:33] Speaker 3: You're kind of like automatically skeptic, right, skeptical. Yeah, you know,
[13:37] Speaker 3: you're like figuring out what's the way to describe this,
[13:40] Speaker 3: like from a logical perspective, And so I'm like pulling
[13:43] Speaker 3: the grade away, and I'm like, if I stepped right here,
[13:46] Speaker 3: what could I have been doing with like cleaning the
[13:48] Speaker 3: mantle or you know, like if it was me, and
[13:50] Speaker 3: why would I be doing it barefoot? And then when
[13:52] Speaker 3: I put my foot there, it's like literally I'm almost
[13:54] Speaker 3: like stepping into the fireplace.
[13:56] Speaker 1: But only one foot, right, just.
[13:59] Speaker 3: One footprint, Like you could see the five toes, you
[14:02] Speaker 3: could see the ball of the foot everything. So we
[14:05] Speaker 3: couldn't really like explain it away. And we're like, who
[14:08] Speaker 3: the hell is dusting or cleaning with bare feet in
[14:10] Speaker 3: the fireplace? First of all, So it's kind of creepy.
[14:13] Speaker 3: We're like, well, there's the ghost. You know, at this point,
[14:15] Speaker 3: after so many years, you just kind of go, there's
[14:18] Speaker 3: another ghost, you know, like nothing to be afraid of.
[14:20] Speaker 3: But the thing just sat there for months. It didn't
[14:23] Speaker 3: collect us, it didn't change or move, but you know,
[14:26] Speaker 3: dust settles so you would think, Okay, after some weeks
[14:29] Speaker 3: or a month, that would slowly go away, and it
[14:32] Speaker 3: just was there until we finally like cleaned it away.
[14:37] Speaker 1: You know what a big ghost foot means. That means big,
[14:42] Speaker 1: big ghosts.
[14:43] Speaker 4: Right.
[14:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, after that, I was hoping you visit my dreams.
[14:46] Speaker 3: I guess.
[14:50] Speaker 1: You go wave to me ghosts man exactly. So is
[14:56] Speaker 1: the house still like in your family or what?
[15:00] Speaker 3: No, we uh, we moved. We've all kind of migrated
[15:03] Speaker 3: up to where I am today, like kind of toward
[15:06] Speaker 3: Tahoe Sacramento area. So my parents have a house up here.
[15:10] Speaker 3: We've moved recently or not recently, but in three years,
[15:14] Speaker 3: so that's not in the family. We've had some other
[15:17] Speaker 3: ghostly experiences in other houses in panels A. I don't
[15:21] Speaker 3: know if there's time to touch on any of those.
[15:23] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, let's touch on them.
[15:25] Speaker 3: Touch on it.
[15:26] Speaker 5: Oh.
[15:27] Speaker 3: I had one more thing I'm going to mention. I
[15:28] Speaker 3: forgot but when my dad made that connection at the end,
[15:31] Speaker 3: you know, he was like, hey, you don't think about it.
[15:33] Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that the original owners have moved back
[15:36] Speaker 3: in with us. Kind of a spooky detail is that
[15:39] Speaker 3: their last name was the Grave Lines. And kind of
[15:43] Speaker 3: kind of creepy the word grave in their name. You know,
[15:45] Speaker 3: I've never looked up, you know what the meaning of
[15:47] Speaker 3: that last name, but it always kind.
[15:49] Speaker 6: Of spoofed this out to well.
[15:51] Speaker 1: In La that's like the Murder Tours of like Hollywood is.
[15:57] Speaker 1: The company is called the Grave Line Tours.
[16:01] Speaker 3: Little Sweet.
[16:05] Speaker 1: Okay, So what's going on in San Jose? There's ghosts
[16:08] Speaker 1: there too.
[16:09] Speaker 3: So we had another place that my husband and I
[16:12] Speaker 3: lived in for a few years, also like a fairly
[16:16] Speaker 3: new house, so not like a crazy long history, but
[16:19] Speaker 3: that house we definitely wondered if you know, something happened
[16:22] Speaker 3: in that house that we didn't know about, because we'd
[16:26] Speaker 3: often often hear little little feet, like kid's feet, running
[16:32] Speaker 3: from one end of the house to the other upstairs,
[16:34] Speaker 3: like to the point where you'd pause the TV and
[16:36] Speaker 3: go like, okay, you just heard that too, right, And
[16:40] Speaker 3: that happened all the time, and in connection with the
[16:43] Speaker 3: little feet, one night, Gabriel woke up and looked over
[16:48] Speaker 3: to me and there was a little girl hunched over me.
[16:51] Speaker 3: No not blonde, no hunch right, she had blonde, curly hair,
[17:00] Speaker 3: he said, And she was kind of crouched over me.
[17:02] Speaker 3: She was there until she noticed he was watching. So
[17:05] Speaker 3: when she realized he could be like he was aware
[17:08] Speaker 3: of it, then she vanished. So I don't know what
[17:11] Speaker 3: she was doing to me?
[17:14] Speaker 1: Oh no, you know what. I I do that all
[17:18] Speaker 1: the time with like if I walk by a window
[17:22] Speaker 1: like a car, and I see my reflection and I
[17:24] Speaker 1: start looking at myself and then all of a sudden,
[17:27] Speaker 1: I see there's somebody in there, and then I'm like,
[17:29] Speaker 1: oh shit, And then I got to like act like
[17:31] Speaker 1: I wasn't doing that. That's exactly what she did.
[17:34] Speaker 3: You like cleaning something out of your teeth and then
[17:36] Speaker 3: you realize someone's in the front seat.
[17:38] Speaker 1: Absolutely. That happens to me constantly, exactly. Yeah, that is
[17:44] Speaker 1: so scary. Is that the only time you encounter or
[17:47] Speaker 1: you know, she came into your bedroom that you know of, that.
[17:51] Speaker 3: I know of. But it kind of like it said,
[17:53] Speaker 3: tied him with the little feet. And then there was
[17:56] Speaker 3: kind of a funny one. My sister was one day
[18:00] Speaker 3: and it was like in the guests like little half
[18:03] Speaker 3: bathroom downstairs and there's a long hallway going to different
[18:06] Speaker 3: parts of the house for the bathrooms right there. She
[18:08] Speaker 3: was in there. One in the bathroom and she she
[18:10] Speaker 3: where she heard one of my selfer gabble walk by
[18:13] Speaker 3: and fart really loud, like by the door, and she
[18:17] Speaker 3: kind of like came out of the bathroom was like, haha, funny, guys,
[18:20] Speaker 3: like that's really growth, And no one was there and
[18:23] Speaker 3: we were at the other end of the vow, but
[18:26] Speaker 3: she like heard it clear as day, and so she
[18:28] Speaker 3: swear there was like a little prank that one of
[18:30] Speaker 3: the ghostses playing on us.
[18:33] Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I don't know your sister, but I
[18:37] Speaker 1: do know the famous virabl video little girl farts and
[18:41] Speaker 1: blames it on a ghost and.
[18:44] Speaker 3: Right, so maybe it was my sister. I don't know
[18:46] Speaker 3: that one's That one's a far fetch I guess.
[18:50] Speaker 1: Well. Hey, thanks so much for joining me. These have
[18:54] Speaker 1: been some great stories.
[18:55] Speaker 3: Thank you.
[18:56] Speaker 1: If the little girl comes back, give me a call
[19:00] Speaker 1: me all about it.
[19:01] Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me. It was really fun.
[19:03] Speaker 3: Thank you, Bye to care.
[19:07] Speaker 1: Thank you John. Next up, it's Morgan. Oh this one.
[19:14] Speaker 1: You get yourself a nice cute lease and an apartment,
[19:18] Speaker 1: but it's a lease with the deceased. Time to call
[19:23] Speaker 1: a priest. Talk to me, Morgan. I am now joined
[19:33] Speaker 1: by Morgan in Seattle. Hello, Morgan, how's it going?
[19:38] Speaker 5: Hello?
[19:38] Speaker 3: Hello?
[19:39] Speaker 1: What is the deal with this haunted apartment building?
[19:43] Speaker 7: Yeah? So this like definitely made a believer out of me.
[19:47] Speaker 4: I think I'd never been like closed off to the
[19:49] Speaker 4: existence of paranormal things by any means, but there was
[19:53] Speaker 4: just so much in your face Stapa.
[19:55] Speaker 7: Happened to be living there.
[19:57] Speaker 1: Okay.
[19:58] Speaker 4: So I moved into this apartment building when I lived
[20:01] Speaker 4: in Tacoma around like twenty nineteen ish. It is my
[20:04] Speaker 4: first apartment by myself. When I first lived there, I
[20:07] Speaker 4: lived in a studio. And it's like, within a month
[20:09] Speaker 4: living there, the elderly man who's my neighbor dies. So
[20:14] Speaker 4: things are like happening rapidly. I've noticed little things here
[20:18] Speaker 4: and there. And then like day one I moved into
[20:22] Speaker 4: this apartment and this woman walks up to me, who's
[20:24] Speaker 4: now a good friend of mine. She's like, I'm a
[20:25] Speaker 4: psychic medium and this place is super haunted. And I'm
[20:29] Speaker 4: like okay, great, and she's like, yeah, they scratched me
[20:31] Speaker 4: last night, and I'm like, okay, great.
[20:33] Speaker 1: Who the old man?
[20:35] Speaker 4: Uh No, I guess there was like other people in
[20:39] Speaker 4: this building that she has interacted with. She and she
[20:43] Speaker 4: lived there in the building for like ten years. Okay,
[20:46] Speaker 4: he's a very sweet, cool woman, and so like things
[20:49] Speaker 4: go along. And then eventually I actually moved to a
[20:52] Speaker 4: different apartment that was down the hall, so on one vendor
[20:54] Speaker 4: right for COVID, So that was perfect, and so little
[20:56] Speaker 4: things that had happened, like there was always one end
[21:01] Speaker 4: of the hall that was like less lit than the others.
[21:04] Speaker 4: And just on Halloween, I came home for a party
[21:06] Speaker 4: one night and I just like looked down the hall
[21:08] Speaker 4: and there was something like undeniably there.
[21:10] Speaker 7: I'm like, okay, what do you mean?
[21:11] Speaker 1: There was something like.
[21:13] Speaker 4: Something it was standing kind of like in the silhouette
[21:18] Speaker 4: of the window, and it just was this kind of
[21:21] Speaker 4: black fog like black like silhouette of a person.
[21:25] Speaker 7: And I was just like.
[21:26] Speaker 4: Okay, not tonight, and I'm not gonna do this right now.
[21:30] Speaker 4: And I just like I tailed it to my apartment,
[21:32] Speaker 4: close the door, burned, some stage, done, go to bed.
[21:36] Speaker 1: And of course this happens on Halloween, right, They're like
[21:39] Speaker 1: it's our night.
[21:40] Speaker 4: Yes, And then there's just been times like were you
[21:43] Speaker 4: I would get home. So I used to work nights
[21:45] Speaker 4: sometimes and I would get home at like midnight and
[21:48] Speaker 4: it just felt like there was a party going on
[21:51] Speaker 4: in this hallway. It just felt like there were people,
[21:54] Speaker 4: there was energy, and then like that people were watching
[21:58] Speaker 4: me as I was like walking into my apartment. I've
[22:00] Speaker 4: never experienced anything like it. And so these are like
[22:03] Speaker 4: more mild things the first started living there. Well, things
[22:05] Speaker 4: really amp up when I actually become.
[22:08] Speaker 7: Close to the person who lives in the most haunted apartment.
[22:12] Speaker 4: Yeah, there's this one unit and the psychic medium I'll
[22:17] Speaker 4: just use her nickname Kiki. So she comes up to
[22:20] Speaker 4: me and she's like, this apartment here, this one's super haunted.
[22:23] Speaker 4: I'm like, tell me about it, tell me, of course,
[22:25] Speaker 4: and she's like, well, people who've lived there have like historically.
[22:28] Speaker 7: Had problems, like with slamming doors.
[22:31] Speaker 4: I tried to cleanse the space once and the front
[22:34] Speaker 4: door of the apartment slammed repeatedly, and she's like and
[22:37] Speaker 4: I had to leave and I was bullied for like
[22:40] Speaker 4: weeks after that.
[22:40] Speaker 7: I'm like, oh, wow, that sounds really scary.
[22:44] Speaker 1: If I was a psychic medium, I would not want
[22:46] Speaker 1: to live in a haunted apartment. No, I would be like,
[22:49] Speaker 1: I'm not working, like I need to clock out.
[22:52] Speaker 4: Yes, exactly, exactly, but like she was really religious and
[22:57] Speaker 4: she really had like her protection down. But when I
[23:02] Speaker 4: first moved in that building, there was a young girl
[23:05] Speaker 4: who lived there. She was struggling with her mental health
[23:08] Speaker 4: so much that she tried to like end her life there,
[23:13] Speaker 4: and she was just missing for a while. And then
[23:19] Speaker 4: she came back from the hospital and she was no
[23:21] Speaker 4: longer able to live there because of her attempt, which
[23:24] Speaker 4: happened in the apartment. So then that apartment was empty
[23:29] Speaker 4: for a while. And then this man moves into this
[23:32] Speaker 4: apartment and this becomes the man that I started dating
[23:35] Speaker 4: during COVID.
[23:37] Speaker 7: Oh, so it was like a kind of convenience dating thing.
[23:40] Speaker 4: But he was like there and he was charming, and
[23:43] Speaker 4: he was like, you know the way I kind of
[23:44] Speaker 4: spent my time for six months.
[23:46] Speaker 1: Did you get to be the person from the movie
[23:48] Speaker 1: that's like, you know, people leave this apartment because it's haunted?
[23:54] Speaker 1: Is that how you met him?
[23:55] Speaker 4: I mean kind of he brought me sushi one day.
[23:59] Speaker 4: It was just like a cute like love bombing thing.
[24:02] Speaker 4: But like Kiki like got to him on day one,
[24:06] Speaker 4: just like me and just had to tell him about
[24:08] Speaker 4: how like how haunted this apartment he'd been waiting to
[24:11] Speaker 4: move into was and he's like mm hmm, okay. You
[24:14] Speaker 4: know he's a very like level headed, skeptical man. Okay,
[24:18] Speaker 4: And so I start hanging out there more. He's like, yeah,
[24:24] Speaker 4: you know, I had some problems moving in. He's like,
[24:26] Speaker 4: all of the things that I was hanging up on
[24:29] Speaker 4: the wall, I'd put it up and then I wake
[24:31] Speaker 4: up in the next morning and it was all on
[24:33] Speaker 4: the ground. Either someone had said it on the ground
[24:37] Speaker 4: or it had woke him up because it was falling off.
[24:40] Speaker 4: And so the point where he had to like mount
[24:43] Speaker 4: with like more intense hardware to keep things on.
[24:47] Speaker 1: What are we talking like picture frames or TVs.
[24:51] Speaker 4: Picture frames, large canvases, shelving units. There was like a
[24:56] Speaker 4: shelving unit. And this guy is like an engineer, so
[24:59] Speaker 4: it's not you know, he doesn't know how to use
[25:02] Speaker 4: anchors and hang things.
[25:03] Speaker 7: Up properly like me.
[25:06] Speaker 6: Same.
[25:06] Speaker 4: Yeah, So it was things that shouldn't be falling off,
[25:09] Speaker 4: and so I'm like, okay, like that's that's kind of weird.
[25:13] Speaker 4: But this is a like really bright, nice apartment. This
[25:15] Speaker 4: is not like you walk in and you're creeped out.
[25:19] Speaker 4: So things started like slowly kind of developing more. I
[25:24] Speaker 4: came over to his house one morning. I was walking
[25:27] Speaker 4: down there and his front door was open. I was like, dude,
[25:30] Speaker 4: like you left the front door to your apartment open.
[25:32] Speaker 4: He's like, oh, well, like in the middle of the night,
[25:34] Speaker 4: I heard banging on the door and I thought it
[25:36] Speaker 4: was you. So I like got up half asleep and
[25:38] Speaker 4: unlocked the door so that you could come in. And
[25:41] Speaker 4: I was like, that was not me.
[25:43] Speaker 1: It was Kiki. Kiki was trying to get in there.
[25:46] Speaker 6: Ki whatever.
[25:48] Speaker 7: But yeah, I mean it's a locked building.
[25:50] Speaker 4: There's no way to get in, but there's only thirteen
[25:53] Speaker 4: units up there. It's it's like very small. It was
[25:56] Speaker 4: built in like nineteen thirty and there's some shops below.
[26:00] Speaker 4: And I'm like, that was not me. And so later
[26:03] Speaker 4: that night we were in his bedroom. I was helping
[26:06] Speaker 4: him kind of full his laundry, and I think I
[26:08] Speaker 4: had maybe had like one cocktail, you know, and at
[26:12] Speaker 4: some point we both passed out cold and did not
[26:16] Speaker 4: wake out up until the next day. It had like
[26:19] Speaker 4: and I woke up like just in a really strange position,
[26:22] Speaker 4: and we were both like what happened? And like, prior
[26:25] Speaker 4: to that, the room had gotten like very cold, and
[26:28] Speaker 4: we're like, I'm like, what is happening?
[26:29] Speaker 7: And then we just passed out what And it.
[26:33] Speaker 4: Was a really strange situation, and like I didn't go
[26:36] Speaker 4: back a couple of days.
[26:37] Speaker 7: It was like this is this is weird.
[26:39] Speaker 4: And then things like started to really heat up more
[26:43] Speaker 4: after that. Like we would wake up in the morning
[26:45] Speaker 4: and the ceiling fan would be swinging back and forth
[26:50] Speaker 4: to the point that the blades were scraping the ceiling,
[26:53] Speaker 4: and then you would see the ceiling fan slowly just
[26:57] Speaker 4: kind of stabilize and then stopped raping the ceiling and
[27:01] Speaker 4: that was scary because that was directly above the bed,
[27:04] Speaker 4: so like whatever was in here, it was like tricky
[27:06] Speaker 4: but also threatening.
[27:08] Speaker 7: There were like some really strange dreams I.
[27:11] Speaker 4: Had in that apartment, and then there was like one
[27:15] Speaker 4: night where I was just laying there, I woke up
[27:17] Speaker 4: suddenly and felt such an oppressive energy that I had
[27:22] Speaker 4: this like full range like panic attack that I'm like,
[27:25] Speaker 4: I'm not a pandemic since all the teenager, you know,
[27:27] Speaker 4: and it was something that I had never experienced before.
[27:32] Speaker 7: And he started to.
[27:33] Speaker 4: Tell me things like, you know, things are like very
[27:35] Speaker 4: weird in here. He's like I'm having more problems with walls.
[27:41] Speaker 4: He would pass out in the living room sometimes and
[27:45] Speaker 4: wake up at like three two am and just feel
[27:48] Speaker 4: like there was something kind of standing over him, like
[27:52] Speaker 4: an oppressive force. And this is like not like a
[27:54] Speaker 4: spooky like someone who's like into spooky stuff.
[27:57] Speaker 1: Now, why were you guys not sleeping at your place?
[28:00] Speaker 1: That's what I would have done, you know.
[28:02] Speaker 7: He didn't like my bed was the one it was.
[28:06] Speaker 4: He didn't like my bed. I'm like, look, you know,
[28:08] Speaker 4: so we would stay over there. I stopped sleeping over there.
[28:11] Speaker 4: It was just too much for me to handle, like emotionally.
[28:15] Speaker 4: There's this one area of the apartment that's like a closet,
[28:18] Speaker 4: and the closet, according to Kiki, is a portal, and
[28:21] Speaker 4: that's where he would like set up his little workshop
[28:24] Speaker 4: and he would go in there and he'd be just
[28:26] Speaker 4: like hyper focus to the point where he would like
[28:28] Speaker 4: not even like acknowledge me, and he would be in
[28:32] Speaker 4: there for hours and then just get out and be
[28:36] Speaker 4: like very spacey, very grumpy and just kind of like
[28:40] Speaker 4: not himself. Things started to kind of amp up one
[28:44] Speaker 4: night where I was at home, and uh, this has
[28:49] Speaker 4: happened twice.
[28:50] Speaker 7: I was the first time I happened.
[28:51] Speaker 4: I was at home, hadn't heard from him early that day,
[28:54] Speaker 4: and he comes like running down the hall and he
[28:56] Speaker 4: has like a towel on his hips and soap in
[28:58] Speaker 4: his hair, and he's like, Morgan, there's something in my
[28:59] Speaker 4: back or something in my bathroom. I saw it standing
[29:02] Speaker 4: outside of my shower curtain, and I just got the
[29:05] Speaker 4: hell out of there. And I'm just like, dude, you
[29:08] Speaker 4: just ran like half naked down the hall, and this
[29:10] Speaker 4: is how like scared you are.
[29:11] Speaker 1: What did he see?
[29:13] Speaker 4: He said it was a dark silhouette standing on the
[29:16] Speaker 4: other side of his shower curtain and that it got
[29:19] Speaker 4: ice cold in his like shower room. I was like, dude,
[29:24] Speaker 4: I would have been too scared to get out, Like
[29:26] Speaker 4: I would just stayed there and cried.
[29:28] Speaker 1: Literally what do you even do? Like, yeah, oh my god.
[29:32] Speaker 4: At this point, I'm like, dude, like your apartment is
[29:34] Speaker 4: really haunted, like there's something going on here, and he's
[29:38] Speaker 4: still not like fully acknowledging it. So the next next
[29:43] Speaker 4: week I come and I bring like a black tormaline crystal,
[29:46] Speaker 4: which are like, you know, supposed to repel negative energy.
[29:49] Speaker 3: Whatever.
[29:50] Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I got them all over this apartment.
[29:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, so are like playing cards. It's like a normal evening.
[29:58] Speaker 4: Still have this weird relationship apartment. I still don't really
[30:00] Speaker 4: want to be in there at night anymore, like things changed,
[30:02] Speaker 4: like in our relationship even because it just is so weird.
[30:05] Speaker 4: And so we'll get done like playing cards. He's like,
[30:07] Speaker 4: go ah, I'm a shower, and he's like, i'll hit
[30:09] Speaker 4: you up later.
[30:10] Speaker 7: I'm like, okay, cool.
[30:11] Speaker 4: Before I left, I took this crystal and I set
[30:14] Speaker 4: it on top of a wine hutch where there was
[30:16] Speaker 4: a lit candle, like a safety candle, you know, And
[30:20] Speaker 4: I just set it up there and then I just left.
[30:22] Speaker 4: And was it like my intention to instigate whatever is
[30:25] Speaker 4: in there? But I definitely think that I did, And
[30:29] Speaker 4: so I left. I went back to my apartment and
[30:32] Speaker 4: again he comes booking it down the hall in his towel,
[30:36] Speaker 4: soap in his air, and he's like, it happened again.
[30:38] Speaker 4: He's like, and then I heard crashing from the living room,
[30:41] Speaker 4: which is on the other side of the bathroom. He
[30:43] Speaker 4: goes out there. The candle has been thrown off of
[30:46] Speaker 4: the wine hutch. There's wax everywhere, and the crystal is gone,
[30:53] Speaker 4: like it's gone. I got in my hands and knees.
[30:57] Speaker 4: I looked everywhere for it and could not find it,
[31:02] Speaker 4: and so like, okay, wow, I kind of just pissed
[31:04] Speaker 4: something off here.
[31:05] Speaker 6: Clearly.
[31:06] Speaker 1: That's so scary to me because like in my mind,
[31:10] Speaker 1: if like a ghost or a bad energy or something
[31:13] Speaker 1: touches a Tourmaline, I don't know, it would get electric shocked,
[31:17] Speaker 1: or it would like burn its hand or I don't know,
[31:20] Speaker 1: like I wouldn't think in my mind, it's like not
[31:23] Speaker 1: supposed to be able to move it. It's supposed to
[31:26] Speaker 1: like keep it away.
[31:28] Speaker 4: Right right, which is what has me thinking that like
[31:30] Speaker 4: this whatever was in here was like not like a
[31:33] Speaker 4: human spirit. It's not the impression that I was getting
[31:37] Speaker 4: from whatever was in here. Yeah, And so that was
[31:41] Speaker 4: kind of the amping up point. And then not long
[31:45] Speaker 4: after that our relationship kind of ended for a number
[31:50] Speaker 4: of reasons, but it's just it just did not feel
[31:52] Speaker 4: good being in his presence or in his space anymore.
[31:57] Speaker 4: And several like weeks later there, like this is before
[32:00] Speaker 4: we officially broke up, I went in the house and
[32:03] Speaker 4: I thought, like, you know, I'm just gonna look for
[32:04] Speaker 4: it one more time, because maybe I'm crazy I looked.
[32:07] Speaker 3: I looked.
[32:07] Speaker 7: I got down my hands and knees again.
[32:09] Speaker 4: It was exactly in a spot where I know for
[32:12] Speaker 4: certain that I looked, and it was back and it
[32:14] Speaker 4: was damaged and like cracked. The crystal itself was cracked.
[32:18] Speaker 4: And it was not like a poor quality tomally either.
[32:22] Speaker 4: It wouldn't have just happened from being dropped. It would
[32:26] Speaker 4: have had to like gone through some sort of distress.
[32:29] Speaker 4: So like I just scooped it up. I buried it
[32:31] Speaker 4: in the park, and I'm like, I'm just gonna leave
[32:34] Speaker 4: that there.
[32:35] Speaker 1: So you said this was twenty nineteen. Yeah, at this
[32:38] Speaker 1: point in the story. Has has it gotten to pandemic
[32:42] Speaker 1: time yet?
[32:43] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[32:43] Speaker 4: So I moved in there in twenty nineteen. He moved
[32:45] Speaker 4: in in twenty, like twenty twenty.
[32:47] Speaker 1: Oh my god. So being locked down with that.
[32:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, and so like he is in this space, and
[32:55] Speaker 4: like when he moved out, I helped him move and
[32:59] Speaker 4: so I moved some carpets from the space. And when
[33:04] Speaker 4: we lifted up this giant carpet wherez I kid you not,
[33:07] Speaker 4: there was a human shaped dark stain on this hardwood floor.
[33:12] Speaker 7: It looked like.
[33:13] Speaker 4: A human man like laying on his side, in a
[33:17] Speaker 4: pool blood in this hardwood floor.
[33:19] Speaker 1: Eh, there definitely was somebody that was probably their dad
[33:25] Speaker 1: and decomposing there.
[33:27] Speaker 4: Oh, it was undeniably the shape of person. And then
[33:30] Speaker 4: there was in the bedroom too. There was also a
[33:33] Speaker 4: large dark stain in the hardwood floor. And typically like
[33:37] Speaker 4: you can get those up. I know because I called
[33:39] Speaker 4: the apartment people and like, does something happen here, and
[33:41] Speaker 4: they're like, oh, well, we took over management six years ago,
[33:44] Speaker 4: Like we don't know.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Oh the body was there when we found it, we
[33:48] Speaker 1: don't know.
[33:48] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[33:49] Speaker 7: I was like, oh great, great. Then I started having
[33:52] Speaker 7: problems in my apartment.
[33:54] Speaker 4: I was waking up for a three night span, and
[33:58] Speaker 4: I usually keep my space pretty clean, you know, I
[34:01] Speaker 4: have lots of like trinkets and you know, stuff in there,
[34:04] Speaker 4: so I my space had always been a safe haven
[34:06] Speaker 4: up until the Turmaline incident. I started waking up at
[34:11] Speaker 4: two three am and hearing like a female voice screaming
[34:15] Speaker 4: and it would go on for like a few seconds
[34:17] Speaker 4: and end. And I also started I have it on
[34:20] Speaker 4: I have a video recording it too. But I also
[34:22] Speaker 4: started hearing knocking in my walls and it would be
[34:26] Speaker 4: a rhythmic kind of the thump them like it was rhythmic.
[34:32] Speaker 4: And I would wake up at night hearing this or
[34:36] Speaker 4: be going to bed hearing this, and I'm like, it's
[34:37] Speaker 4: got it. Like I'm trying to tell myself, oh, you know,
[34:40] Speaker 4: maybe you know, maybe it's windy and something's on the roof.
[34:43] Speaker 4: But it was just became rhythmic. And so I'm hearing
[34:48] Speaker 4: the screaming at night. First night, I get up, I'm
[34:51] Speaker 4: really concerned. I'm thinking, like, is there someone being harmed
[34:53] Speaker 4: outside the building? Like I run out to like, look,
[34:55] Speaker 4: I have my phone. I'm getting ready to call in one.
[34:58] Speaker 4: Nothing's happening. Nothing's happening anywhere.
[35:00] Speaker 1: And did it sound like it was outside or could
[35:03] Speaker 1: you really tell it was?
[35:04] Speaker 4: It was like detached. It was hard to like really
[35:09] Speaker 4: hear where it was coming from. But I assumed that
[35:12] Speaker 4: it was from outside because obviously there's nothing going on
[35:14] Speaker 4: in my bedroom, right, I kind of like hustle outside
[35:18] Speaker 4: and of course there's nothing there. And then it happens
[35:21] Speaker 4: again the next night, and then I tell Kiki about it,
[35:24] Speaker 4: and she's like, Morgan, I will come in and pray
[35:26] Speaker 4: for you. And so I was like great, And so
[35:30] Speaker 4: she came in and she said a little prayer in
[35:32] Speaker 4: my apartment and I smudged it and then it stopped.
[35:37] Speaker 4: But that went on for four nights, and like the
[35:39] Speaker 4: fourth night, like before I told Kiki about it, the
[35:43] Speaker 4: screaming went on for a lot longer, and it was
[35:47] Speaker 4: very prolonged, and it was like, pay attention to me.
[35:52] Speaker 4: It's also leaving for work one day and I saw,
[35:55] Speaker 4: like you know those little cabinets in old bathrooms where
[35:58] Speaker 4: you open them up and it's like a mem oh no,
[36:01] Speaker 4: uh oh. My cabinet opened and my toothbrush flew out
[36:05] Speaker 4: of the cabinet into my bathtub as I was like
[36:08] Speaker 4: leaving the house, and I was like, oh.
[36:09] Speaker 7: No, oh, I just left.
[36:13] Speaker 4: But I think, like just the biggest thing is like,
[36:15] Speaker 4: since I've not lived there, it's so just such a
[36:19] Speaker 4: different feeling being home. So I think it's just when
[36:23] Speaker 4: you don't live in a haunted space, you really notice
[36:26] Speaker 4: how much living in a haunted space has an impact
[36:29] Speaker 4: on you.
[36:30] Speaker 1: So but like the stuff in your actual apartment, none
[36:35] Speaker 1: of that started until after your ex moved out.
[36:40] Speaker 4: The stuff in my apartment happened after the Tormaline incident.
[36:44] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, okay, that's when stuff started happening in my apartment.
[36:48] Speaker 1: That's screaming. Oh, because screaming like that in the middle
[36:52] Speaker 1: of the night, especially multiple nights in a row. It's like,
[36:56] Speaker 1: even if it wasn't a ghost, what is going on
[36:59] Speaker 1: like that? That's so scary.
[37:01] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm like, someone being harmed here like that is
[37:03] Speaker 4: like my first impression. But the history of the building,
[37:08] Speaker 4: like a previous tenant that was there like twenty eighteen,
[37:12] Speaker 4: who in that apartment, Like I don't think killed anybody,
[37:16] Speaker 4: but severely beat up multiple people to the point where
[37:20] Speaker 4: like it had to be professionally cleaned by like a
[37:24] Speaker 4: biohazard because there was so much blood in that apartment.
[37:27] Speaker 4: What And like Kiki had been witnessed to that just
[37:30] Speaker 4: she like, as I'm like looking through the research, She's like, Morgan,
[37:34] Speaker 4: you know that like this apartment, the bad shit has
[37:38] Speaker 4: happened in here, Like then the whole ten years I've
[37:40] Speaker 4: lived here, I've seen people very mentally ill people live
[37:44] Speaker 4: in this apartment. I've seen very violent people live in
[37:47] Speaker 4: this apartment. I've seen you know, lots of people break
[37:50] Speaker 4: up in this apartment.
[37:52] Speaker 1: This is the one that you were in or your.
[37:55] Speaker 7: Ex, my ex's apartment.
[37:57] Speaker 4: Oh my God, And I actually looked all of that
[37:59] Speaker 4: stuff up online and it was like confirmed, like, yes,
[38:03] Speaker 4: a serious assault occurred at this apartment.
[38:06] Speaker 1: But do you know what like the original energy or history,
[38:11] Speaker 1: like what's like the root of why this happens?
[38:15] Speaker 4: You know, I have to go off of the expert,
[38:19] Speaker 4: and I think just from Kiki saying that that apartment
[38:22] Speaker 4: is a portal and in that closet, like that is
[38:26] Speaker 4: the portal in which.
[38:27] Speaker 7: Everything is coming from.
[38:29] Speaker 4: And the building's was one hundred years old and it's
[38:32] Speaker 4: been a lot of different things over the years, and
[38:35] Speaker 4: I think it's a combination of residual energy from people
[38:39] Speaker 4: living in that space and the fact that like I
[38:43] Speaker 4: actually was there when people died there, right, So I
[38:46] Speaker 4: think it is just things that have accumulated over time.
[38:51] Speaker 4: But I wasn't able to necessarily find exactly who is
[38:55] Speaker 4: behind these specific acts because I don't think it's a
[38:59] Speaker 4: specific person, right.
[39:01] Speaker 1: But I'm always like, Okay, if you think of a
[39:03] Speaker 1: portal as like an airport for ghosts or edergy or whatever,
[39:10] Speaker 1: I get why humans make airports in big cities that
[39:15] Speaker 1: people travel to, but like, why are you like, let's
[39:18] Speaker 1: do a portal in a closet and Tacoma in an apartment, Like,
[39:23] Speaker 1: what does this happen? It's always like so random.
[39:28] Speaker 7: So the building was built by this man.
[39:32] Speaker 4: He was a Tacoma socialite back in the thirties when
[39:36] Speaker 4: he was making lots of money. He was very into
[39:39] Speaker 4: magic shows. He was a magician, but he was also
[39:42] Speaker 4: a spiritualist. Oh, and was very deep into that. He
[39:46] Speaker 4: actually had a house that was in the same neighborhood,
[39:49] Speaker 4: but he built that building, and so it makes me wonder, Like,
[39:53] Speaker 4: I mean, you just don't know what he was initially
[39:56] Speaker 4: using this building for, but it's already built by some
[40:00] Speaker 4: one who was very attracted to the paranormal and in
[40:04] Speaker 4: various ways. I don't know if he ever lived there personally,
[40:08] Speaker 4: but I know that the building changed a lot over
[40:11] Speaker 4: the years, and like used to be fewer apartments and
[40:14] Speaker 4: now it's more apartments. And I think when you have
[40:17] Speaker 4: like a space that changes so much, it upsets energies
[40:22] Speaker 4: that are in it and leaves confusion, especially like when
[40:26] Speaker 4: one apartment used to be a part of another apartment
[40:29] Speaker 4: and now it's a studio, right, Like I feel that
[40:33] Speaker 4: it's just things have have built up there over the
[40:37] Speaker 4: years and that's kind of what Kiki's assessment of it was.
[40:41] Speaker 4: Also energy and people who never left this building.
[40:45] Speaker 1: Well I'm glad you left.
[40:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, me too.
[40:50] Speaker 7: But it was kind it was kind of like spooky
[40:52] Speaker 7: at the time.
[40:53] Speaker 4: It was kind of like fun at the time, and
[40:54] Speaker 4: until start happening in my apartment, yeah, because I couldn't
[40:57] Speaker 4: just leave, but just it would just be such a weird.
[41:00] Speaker 4: And I know that you know what I'm talking about,
[41:02] Speaker 4: where it's like you are in a space and then
[41:03] Speaker 4: you step outside of the building, where you step outside
[41:06] Speaker 4: of the room and you just immediately feel better.
[41:09] Speaker 1: It was that, oh I'm sure, especially when it's your
[41:12] Speaker 1: twenty four to seven like that just that's too much,
[41:15] Speaker 1: or even walking down the hallway likeugh no, yeah, well Morgan,
[41:21] Speaker 1: I gotta hop on another call. But this is amazing
[41:24] Speaker 1: that you know. I love a beginning, middle, and end,
[41:27] Speaker 1: and this was like the perfect Yeah, you move into
[41:30] Speaker 1: a place, all this stuff happens, and then you leave.
[41:33] Speaker 1: Oh love it beautiful. Thank you so much for doing this.
[41:37] Speaker 7: Yeah, thank you for having me. I hope you have
[41:39] Speaker 7: a grace of your day.
[41:40] Speaker 1: Thank you you too. I'll talk to you later.
[41:43] Speaker 2: All right. Bye.
[41:54] Speaker 1: That's one of those moments. I don't even need my
[41:56] Speaker 1: deposit back. I am out of there. Okay, we already
[42:02] Speaker 1: talked to one John, I say, we talked to another.
[42:05] Speaker 1: Here's John, who was a theater performer and has some
[42:11] Speaker 1: stories to tell about it. Places. Everyone enter stage left, John,
[42:23] Speaker 1: I am joined by John, the theater kid from Philadelphia.
[42:31] Speaker 1: How's it going.
[42:32] Speaker 6: It's going swimmingly.
[42:34] Speaker 1: Thank you, thanks for joining me. I was so excited
[42:38] Speaker 1: to hear that you have a story about Summerstock theater,
[42:42] Speaker 1: which is a thing that I love you, Oh my god, obsessed.
[42:49] Speaker 1: I don't go to enough of it, but it's something
[42:52] Speaker 1: I always wanted to do. I did very little of
[42:55] Speaker 1: in my life, and I hope at one point in
[42:57] Speaker 1: my life I do do and spend a full summer
[43:00] Speaker 1: doing it.
[43:01] Speaker 6: Yes, and brace the chaos.
[43:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, you get little romances, you get there's the dramas
[43:09] Speaker 1: I love, and then also the performing shore but I like,
[43:13] Speaker 1: I like all the other stuff too.
[43:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, performing less and less important than the drama.
[43:19] Speaker 1: Yes. But okay, so you're doing the Summer Stock and
[43:25] Speaker 1: we're not just going to talk about Summer Stock because
[43:27] Speaker 1: there's also ghosts involved here. What's the story.
[43:31] Speaker 6: Yeah, So I'm gonna take you back in time. Okay,
[43:35] Speaker 6: We're gonna go back to.
[43:36] Speaker 2: The nineties fun, specifically the summer of nineteen ninety five.
[43:42] Speaker 2: So you know, get out your Tori Inos, little earthquake bed,
[43:46] Speaker 2: your Madonna's dead jewelry d. You know, it's at least
[43:50] Speaker 2: if you were queer life like me. Okay, So yeah,
[43:56] Speaker 2: so let me let me take you there. So where
[44:00] Speaker 2: this happened was on the campus of Muhlenberg College, which
[44:04] Speaker 2: was it still is a tiny liberal arts college in Allentown, Pennsylvania,
[44:10] Speaker 2: which is about forty five minutes away from where I
[44:12] Speaker 2: grew up. So this was the summer nineteen ninety five.
[44:15] Speaker 2: I just graduated from high school and I was going
[44:18] Speaker 2: to start undergrad there in the fall. Now, they do
[44:22] Speaker 2: this sort of summer musical theater summer stuck thing where
[44:27] Speaker 2: they basically get a lot of kids together, pay them
[44:31] Speaker 2: one hundred dollars for three months to perform like to
[44:35] Speaker 2: musical quote unquote professional because they bring in like two
[44:39] Speaker 2: union actors from like New York.
[44:42] Speaker 1: Lovely love it.
[44:44] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[44:45] Speaker 2: So the theater is really big at Melimber College. It
[44:48] Speaker 2: continues to be next to where the theater complexes where
[44:52] Speaker 2: this kind of experience took place was this how and
[44:55] Speaker 2: it was called the Bernheim House. It was named after
[44:59] Speaker 2: the sky Oscar Bernheim. It was constructed around nineteen fifteen
[45:03] Speaker 2: nineteen seventeen. In Oscar Bernheim was the treasurer of the
[45:08] Speaker 2: college from around like the early.
[45:11] Speaker 6: Nineteen hundred to well. He died in nineteen forty.
[45:15] Speaker 2: Six, but he held like a few different roles or
[45:17] Speaker 2: something like that.
[45:18] Speaker 6: So it was a private home. It was Oscar Bernheim's.
[45:21] Speaker 2: House, and then it became I think like a women's
[45:24] Speaker 2: residence hall and then a German studies house, and then
[45:27] Speaker 2: eventually it was sort of like the theater dorm later
[45:32] Speaker 2: like in the nineties.
[45:33] Speaker 1: I mean, it sounds like the perfect place to be haunted.
[45:37] Speaker 2: Exactly for many different reasons.
[45:42] Speaker 6: And it was kind of like it like.
[45:44] Speaker 2: It has kind of done the script architecture, Like if
[45:47] Speaker 2: you look at old photos of it, you can find.
[45:49] Speaker 6: Them if you google. It just looks creepy.
[45:52] Speaker 2: I don't know how to say about this, but it
[45:56] Speaker 2: was sort of famous for its theater kids porch party.
[45:59] Speaker 6: Basically we was, you know, for a party there and
[46:01] Speaker 6: stuff like that.
[46:02] Speaker 1: So I bet those were noisy, very.
[46:06] Speaker 2: Noisy but there were only the fraternities behind the house,
[46:09] Speaker 2: so the noise kind of just canceled each other out
[46:12] Speaker 2: of the residents living around this area.
[46:15] Speaker 1: Okay, so if you're in the neighborhood, you're seeing all
[46:18] Speaker 1: these houses and you're trying to find this one, you
[46:21] Speaker 1: listen for the Sondheim and you found it.
[46:26] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[46:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, Although the funny thing about the effect you say
[46:29] Speaker 2: that is is.
[46:29] Speaker 6: That actually the Summer Stock director hate it. Stephen Sondheim
[46:33] Speaker 6: would never do it, like with.
[46:34] Speaker 2: A big sort of classical like pre seventies kind of
[46:39] Speaker 2: musical person, so you would never hear Sonheim.
[46:42] Speaker 1: Okay, what were the shows that you guys were doing.
[46:44] Speaker 6: I think that.
[46:45] Speaker 2: Summer and I had to really jog my memory for
[46:48] Speaker 2: this because I put a couple of summers there. I
[46:50] Speaker 2: think they were Oliver and forty second Street, both like
[46:56] Speaker 2: Orphans and Tappers.
[46:58] Speaker 1: Okay, fun, So in this house, this is where you
[47:02] Speaker 1: guys were housed when you were doing this.
[47:04] Speaker 6: Yeah, well, part of us it housed.
[47:06] Speaker 2: I think there were like ten or ten or twelve
[47:08] Speaker 2: of us that were staying in there, and there was
[47:10] Speaker 2: they also housed people in the freshman door because there
[47:13] Speaker 2: were a lot more kids just ten to twelve.
[47:15] Speaker 6: But I wound up getting put in that house.
[47:17] Speaker 2: Got it okay, So it was the house of three stories.
[47:22] Speaker 2: They put me in the third floor, which was the
[47:24] Speaker 2: only room on that floor. So the first and the
[47:27] Speaker 2: second they had like I think, like three different rooms.
[47:31] Speaker 2: In this room, it was kind of like it really
[47:33] Speaker 2: did feel like an attic space, so there was kind
[47:36] Speaker 2: of like sloping.
[47:36] Speaker 6: Ceilings, and then in the room two there.
[47:40] Speaker 2: Was this kind of like you know, one of the
[47:42] Speaker 2: small sort of like two foot high gnome kind of
[47:46] Speaker 2: doors that went into like a crawl and attic space.
[47:49] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're the dead bodies where they used to
[47:51] Speaker 1: hide those.
[47:53] Speaker 6: Or the dead raccoons like whatever. Yeah. Yeah, so I
[47:58] Speaker 6: had I was put together with a room made in
[48:00] Speaker 6: this room, so it was very dorm stylent there. But
[48:02] Speaker 6: he mostly commuted it and didn't.
[48:05] Speaker 2: Spend partly any time there at all. I think he
[48:07] Speaker 2: stayed there the one night where we both experienced something,
[48:10] Speaker 2: and I don't remember that he came back. Yeah, so
[48:14] Speaker 2: I did have a roommate, but he was ember there.
[48:16] Speaker 1: Basically, did you know it was haunted when you moved in?
[48:20] Speaker 2: So there were whispers about this, but there was nothing
[48:23] Speaker 2: like where someone definitively said I had an experience here,
[48:27] Speaker 2: but there were sort of whispers that the Bernheim ghosts
[48:30] Speaker 2: like the ghost of after Bernheim, but no one really
[48:32] Speaker 2: ever kind of likes that sound and be like, okay, listen,
[48:35] Speaker 2: so this happened, but there were definitely kind of there
[48:38] Speaker 2: was chatter about it.
[48:40] Speaker 1: Okay, so what happened?
[48:42] Speaker 6: So okay.
[48:43] Speaker 2: The first odd experience I had was so one morning
[48:48] Speaker 2: I overslapt You know, this is before cell phone well,
[48:51] Speaker 2: I mean we had those like big car cell phones,
[48:53] Speaker 2: it's like the size of the briefcase. But I didn't
[48:55] Speaker 2: have a cell phone, so this was like before that time.
[48:59] Speaker 2: So I overslew and I missed the start of rehearsal
[49:02] Speaker 2: because my this digital alarm clock that.
[49:05] Speaker 6: I had brought with me didn't go off.
[49:07] Speaker 2: And when I kind of like woke up, eventually I
[49:09] Speaker 2: realized that it wasn't there, Like it was no longer
[49:12] Speaker 2: on the bedside dresser where I'd put it, and I
[49:14] Speaker 2: looked around.
[49:15] Speaker 6: I looked around and looked around.
[49:16] Speaker 2: I couldn't find it, looked under the bed and I
[49:18] Speaker 2: think and I eventually just went to like the CBS
[49:20] Speaker 2: and bought a new one.
[49:21] Speaker 1: You never found it.
[49:22] Speaker 6: Well, we're getting there.
[49:24] Speaker 1: Oh okay.
[49:26] Speaker 6: So it was like the first sort of aut experience.
[49:28] Speaker 2: And then like maybe, like I want to say, like
[49:30] Speaker 2: one or two weekend nights later, the roommate and actually
[49:34] Speaker 2: stayed over.
[49:34] Speaker 6: I think we had a party and there was drinking
[49:36] Speaker 6: and whatever.
[49:38] Speaker 2: And the next morning we get woken up by this knocking.
[49:42] Speaker 2: He gets up and he opens the door to the
[49:45] Speaker 2: to the room when there's nobody there. So we're kind
[49:48] Speaker 2: of like, okay, I throw back in the bed and
[49:50] Speaker 2: we hear this knocking again, and then we realized it
[49:53] Speaker 2: sounds like it's coming from the other side of the small.
[49:56] Speaker 6: Attic door that's in the room.
[49:58] Speaker 2: You know, we're thinking, did someone get this is the
[50:03] Speaker 2: first thought. Did someone get drunk and pass out in there? Now,
[50:07] Speaker 2: mind you, nobody came up to the third floor.
[50:10] Speaker 6: I was new to all these people. No one came
[50:12] Speaker 6: up there to hang out.
[50:13] Speaker 1: But also, like, if that was the case, who the
[50:16] Speaker 1: hell would just knock like you would you'd be like, hey,
[50:21] Speaker 1: can you open it up? Like you would be saying,
[50:25] Speaker 1: especially at.
[50:26] Speaker 6: Seventeen years old. I was seventeen, in horny. I didn't
[50:29] Speaker 6: have any thought other than that.
[50:31] Speaker 2: Okay, I no, thinking, what's happening.
[50:35] Speaker 1: Okay, So we hear this knocking.
[50:38] Speaker 6: We both kind of realized it's coming from the door.
[50:39] Speaker 3: See.
[50:39] Speaker 2: He goes over and he kind of like unlatches the
[50:43] Speaker 2: door and he opens it and he looks inside.
[50:47] Speaker 6: There's nobody in there.
[50:49] Speaker 2: However, he pulls something out and holds it up and
[50:54] Speaker 2: it was the missing alarm clock.
[50:56] Speaker 1: No, wait a second, So not only did the ghost
[51:01] Speaker 1: take the alarm clock and hide it in there, but
[51:03] Speaker 1: they also turned the alarm off because it never went off.
[51:06] Speaker 6: Well, it was unplugged. It was one of this plugged
[51:08] Speaker 6: in ones. It wasn't like a battery operator once.
[51:10] Speaker 2: Oh it was one of the okay, yeah, yeah, So
[51:13] Speaker 2: I was like, okay, weird. But at the same time
[51:16] Speaker 2: I wasn't really I didn't really think that much about it.
[51:20] Speaker 6: Now, mind you, other people were.
[51:21] Speaker 2: Living in the house, like I said, but I didn't
[51:23] Speaker 2: really know anybody.
[51:24] Speaker 6: I was like, oh, maybe someone it was a prank.
[51:26] Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know.
[51:28] Speaker 2: So, so, okay, I should preface this next thing with
[51:33] Speaker 2: so I identify as a queer witch. I felt drawn to this,
[51:38] Speaker 2: you know, very early on, like at the age of ten,
[51:41] Speaker 2: I found some life practical Candle Magic book but by
[51:44] Speaker 2: Ray Buckland in the bookstore, and I had to be
[51:48] Speaker 2: like really sneaky with it in my home because they
[51:50] Speaker 2: were Catholic.
[51:52] Speaker 6: But I really kind of like looked into it.
[51:54] Speaker 2: And I remember I pitched out some like red and
[51:57] Speaker 2: white Christmas candles for.
[51:59] Speaker 6: My parents based and I used to set up these.
[52:02] Speaker 2: Candles and like rituals described in the book, and like
[52:05] Speaker 2: the woods.
[52:06] Speaker 6: Behind my parents how cute. I was really kind of
[52:11] Speaker 6: like living my best fantasy.
[52:13] Speaker 2: I was living, like, yeah, I think I even at
[52:15] Speaker 2: one point stole a choir rogue from school and like dress.
[52:19] Speaker 6: Up like the pictures of the witches in the book
[52:22] Speaker 6: and experimentation.
[52:25] Speaker 2: So in the Burnheim house, I always had like to
[52:29] Speaker 2: send somebody watching. I don't know, it's just like a
[52:31] Speaker 2: scary feeling. So one night I figured I'd be like,
[52:34] Speaker 2: why don't we try one of these candles fells down
[52:37] Speaker 2: in the basement, because why not?
[52:40] Speaker 6: And I was by myself, so I you know, I
[52:42] Speaker 6: laid up candles.
[52:43] Speaker 2: I did a little thing, but I don't remember actually
[52:46] Speaker 2: getting anything from that.
[52:48] Speaker 6: At all, Like nothing happened.
[52:50] Speaker 2: However, I think it wasn't that night, but it was
[52:54] Speaker 2: probably like a couple of nights after that little like
[52:58] Speaker 2: fell experimentation, and after rehearsal, like a bunch of people
[53:02] Speaker 2: went over to I think it was like the freshman
[53:04] Speaker 2: door and they had some big party, and you know,
[53:06] Speaker 2: I came back and I went to bed after rehearsal.
[53:09] Speaker 2: You know, I was like forty before I was nineteen.
[53:13] Speaker 2: In the middle of the night, I remember I woke
[53:15] Speaker 2: up and I have this horrible feeling of being pinned
[53:19] Speaker 2: down to the bed, as if someone was just like
[53:22] Speaker 2: all of their weight was on me. And then this
[53:25] Speaker 2: voice whispering in my ear, very very very fast, and
[53:31] Speaker 2: I couldn't make out with what was being said. I
[53:34] Speaker 2: remember it really vividly because it was a feeling where
[53:36] Speaker 2: you could actually steel the air from someone's mouth speaking
[53:41] Speaker 2: in your ear.
[53:44] Speaker 6: So I get out of bed.
[53:45] Speaker 2: I turn all the lights, like really discombobulated, but there's nothing.
[53:49] Speaker 6: There's nothing, so.
[53:50] Speaker 1: You were able to like break out of this thing
[53:53] Speaker 1: that was holding you down.
[53:55] Speaker 6: Yeah, it was just kind of like a little bit
[53:57] Speaker 6: of a fog. All the lights are on. So I
[54:00] Speaker 6: I went back to the death I tried to fall
[54:02] Speaker 6: back asleep with all the lights on, and I remember it.
[54:06] Speaker 6: It took a very very long time for me to
[54:09] Speaker 6: even like fall back, like a very very bright room.
[54:14] Speaker 2: So that was the first time it happened. It happened again,
[54:18] Speaker 2: Oh god, And I remember this was like a night
[54:21] Speaker 2: or two later. I can't remember the time. Like I said,
[54:24] Speaker 2: the roommate wasn't staying over.
[54:27] Speaker 6: I woke up again. I was pinned to the bed.
[54:29] Speaker 6: There's that intense whispering in my ear. The only thing
[54:32] Speaker 6: is that this time I saw something.
[54:35] Speaker 1: What did you see?
[54:37] Speaker 2: There was this tallish figure standing inside the room.
[54:42] Speaker 6: The lights weren't on.
[54:44] Speaker 2: It was up against the door leading into the room,
[54:47] Speaker 2: and I felt pinned down to the bed. I kind
[54:49] Speaker 2: of threw myself out of the bed. I again turned
[54:52] Speaker 2: all the lights on.
[54:54] Speaker 6: And I was done.
[54:55] Speaker 8: So I grabbed the pants, I grabbed the car keys,
[55:00] Speaker 8: and I ran out of the house. I got into
[55:03] Speaker 8: my car and I drove forty five minutes home for
[55:06] Speaker 8: my parents out wait.
[55:08] Speaker 1: But so this thing like it was like a tall
[55:11] Speaker 1: like what like black shadow?
[55:14] Speaker 6: Yeah, it was.
[55:15] Speaker 2: It was very shadowy because there was no there's no
[55:18] Speaker 2: light in the room except the light that was coming
[55:20] Speaker 2: in through the window.
[55:21] Speaker 6: I remember feeling like this was very much like you know.
[55:24] Speaker 6: I hate to.
[55:25] Speaker 2: Gender this, but it did feel like some kind of
[55:28] Speaker 2: like masculine thing.
[55:32] Speaker 1: Oh that was Oscar Burn High.
[55:37] Speaker 2: I don't know, but I drove home to my parents
[55:39] Speaker 2: and I stayed and I can neute it for the
[55:42] Speaker 2: rest of the couple of weeks that remained until that
[55:45] Speaker 2: full year started, and then I finally.
[55:47] Speaker 6: Lived in the freshman dorm. I refused to stay in
[55:50] Speaker 6: that house.
[55:51] Speaker 1: Did that roommate ever have anything to say?
[55:53] Speaker 6: They never came back, They never stayed there again. I
[55:56] Speaker 6: think they only stayed there for that.
[55:57] Speaker 2: Night, and I think it was maybe one other night,
[56:00] Speaker 2: but they never came back again after.
[56:02] Speaker 6: I don't believe that knocking experience.
[56:04] Speaker 1: Wow, So did you tell the other people in the house, like,
[56:09] Speaker 1: was there any other talk of stuff happening or is
[56:11] Speaker 1: it mainly just that room?
[56:13] Speaker 6: Okay, so there's another piece of the story.
[56:16] Speaker 2: There was this one friend of mine, Jessica, who was
[56:19] Speaker 2: Jessica was going to be a senior when I was
[56:21] Speaker 2: a freshman. Jessica was on their way out and I
[56:24] Speaker 2: remember telling Jessica about this, and Jessica was like, oh, yeah,
[56:27] Speaker 2: that was probably Oscar.
[56:29] Speaker 6: I'm like, well, wait a second, I can't be that easy.
[56:32] Speaker 6: Have you ever had like an experience with those, have you?
[56:35] Speaker 6: You know, they're like, well, not like.
[56:37] Speaker 2: Directly, but they they've always said that there was this
[56:39] Speaker 2: feeling of something else that's in here, and they've always
[56:43] Speaker 2: heard whispers about the ghosts.
[56:45] Speaker 6: Of Oscar Vernheim.
[56:46] Speaker 2: Now, whether whether it was kind of rumorish or whatever,
[56:50] Speaker 2: I'm not really sure whether or not it was, because
[56:53] Speaker 2: I kind of, like, you know, tried to make some contacts.
[56:56] Speaker 2: I don't know, but there was definitely it wasn't something
[56:59] Speaker 2: like people well Jessica wasn't shocked by it, I should say, yeah, And.
[57:04] Speaker 1: It was only ever at night. It was like not
[57:07] Speaker 1: daytime stuff.
[57:08] Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean I during the day, and like
[57:11] Speaker 2: when I would come back, I think it was like
[57:12] Speaker 2: when they'd go lunch break or something, or like when
[57:15] Speaker 2: I would do launching down in the basement, there's always.
[57:17] Speaker 6: A feeling that like someone else was in there.
[57:20] Speaker 2: And I think I do remember a time when it
[57:22] Speaker 2: actually had called up the basement scares to ask if
[57:25] Speaker 2: someone was upstairs, and no one responded. So it was
[57:28] Speaker 2: kind of this a little bit ongoing. But I remember
[57:31] Speaker 2: these particular things stood out the most.
[57:34] Speaker 6: For me because they were just really present.
[57:36] Speaker 2: Booo.
[57:38] Speaker 3: It's probably a lot of years later.
[57:40] Speaker 6: I was wondering to myself, could it have been sleep paralysis?
[57:44] Speaker 6: But the thing about that is.
[57:45] Speaker 2: Is I've never experienced sleep paralysis before, and I never
[57:50] Speaker 2: experienced it after that.
[57:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, We've talked about this before on the show, where
[57:56] Speaker 1: it seems like there's rooms where these experience has happened,
[58:00] Speaker 1: and it's like, yeah, maybe it was sleep paralysis, but like,
[58:05] Speaker 1: why is it only happening in those rooms? To me,
[58:07] Speaker 1: like that is beyond just some kind of thing that
[58:11] Speaker 1: happens to everyone when they sleep, Like that's that's some
[58:15] Speaker 1: Oscar Sondheim or whatever his name Bernheim.
[58:20] Speaker 2: I want to tell you about this piece of information
[58:23] Speaker 2: I found because I you know, when I was thinking
[58:25] Speaker 2: about this, I wanted to go back and do some
[58:28] Speaker 2: a little bit of researchers to check it in with
[58:29] Speaker 2: some of the dates about the how so the how
[58:32] Speaker 2: I think I mentioned it was demolished in nineteen ninety seven,
[58:35] Speaker 2: and they demolished it to build a whole new sort
[58:38] Speaker 2: of multimillion dollar theater expansion, so they raised it to
[58:42] Speaker 2: the ground. Looked like a little over a year and
[58:45] Speaker 2: a half after this. But when I was doing research
[58:49] Speaker 2: to kind of figure out some dates. I found a
[58:52] Speaker 2: little piece of information in the archive of Miihlenburgh College. Now,
[58:57] Speaker 2: whether this is sure or not, who knows, But they
[58:59] Speaker 2: say that Oscar Burnheim died in that room on the
[59:02] Speaker 2: third floor in nineteen forty six.
[59:05] Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, that makes sense.
[59:13] Speaker 6: Yeah yeah.
[59:14] Speaker 1: I wonder though, like why he wouldn't want you to
[59:18] Speaker 1: wake up, Like why he wanted to hide your alarm clock,
[59:23] Speaker 1: and like what, like what's that all about? Is he
[59:26] Speaker 1: just being flirty?
[59:28] Speaker 6: It gives me trick survives. I mean, I don't I
[59:32] Speaker 6: don't know Oscar personally.
[59:34] Speaker 1: Oscar sounds like a silly bitch. I'm sorry, Oscar was silly.
[59:41] Speaker 2: I wonder he thought Oscar might have been a hoo
[59:43] Speaker 2: because some of the some of the stuff that I
[59:45] Speaker 2: read of was Oscar loved his rose garden out doc
[59:49] Speaker 2: and would constantly be tending the roses.
[59:51] Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, I wonder if this is the homo.
[59:54] Speaker 1: Now, come on something, it's not only homos and women that.
[1:00:05] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I just I just pictured that lovely gentleman
[1:00:09] Speaker 2: tending to roses.
[1:00:10] Speaker 6: Or maybe he's a I don't know.
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: You never know. It could could be.
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but it's unfortunate they leveled the house. But
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: I've also heard every once in a while that there's
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: been chatter about ocstur Burnheim's spirits still kind of being
[1:00:32] Speaker 2: around the area.
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: Well, yeah, he had to go somewhere. I say, you
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: go back there and you figure out was he a homo?
[1:00:46] Speaker 6: I said planner? I said, plan a rose bush.
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: Plan a rose bush. See how he feels about that,
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: and if he likes it, I guess we know he
[1:00:54] Speaker 1: was gay. Well, John, thank you so much for sharing
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: this with me. I have to go hop on another call,
[1:01:05] Speaker 1: but this was wonderful.
[1:01:08] Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you so much for having me on here.
[1:01:11] Speaker 1: All Right, I see you later. Okay, thanks John. Okay, Last,
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: but not least, it's Casey. And Casey's one of these
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: people whose family has just lived with a ghost, as
[1:01:27] Speaker 1: if it's like having a Labrador Retriever Golden Retriever. I
[1:01:33] Speaker 1: don't know dogs very well, but you know what I mean,
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: It's like, oh, it's just part of the family. Yeah
[1:01:38] Speaker 1: that sometimes the ghost just comes and goes and they
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: still live with it. And there's a moment where I
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: really get shocked when I discover that during this conversation.
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: So here we go. Time for some Casey. I am
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: joined by Casey and Vermont. Hi Kasey, Hello, Raz Okay,
[1:02:07] Speaker 1: I want to hear about your family home. What's this
[1:02:12] Speaker 1: all about?
[1:02:14] Speaker 5: Yeah, so, my parents purchased their house in two thousand
[1:02:18] Speaker 5: and five, and it was built in the nineteen seventies
[1:02:22] Speaker 5: and homely been owned by three other families before we
[1:02:25] Speaker 5: bought it. But before we bought it, the previous owners
[1:02:28] Speaker 5: were renting it out to college students and they did
[1:02:31] Speaker 5: a ton of damage to the house, unspeknown to the
[1:02:33] Speaker 5: owner who lived out of state. So we couldn't actually
[1:02:36] Speaker 5: move into the house for about a month after we
[1:02:39] Speaker 5: purchased it because we had to make repairs, replace flooring
[1:02:42] Speaker 5: and paint. And after we moved into the house, the
[1:02:46] Speaker 5: word kind of started getting around our small town that
[1:02:48] Speaker 5: we had bought this house and moved in, and people
[1:02:51] Speaker 5: around town were like coming up to us when we
[1:02:53] Speaker 5: were out and about running errands, being like, I heard
[1:02:55] Speaker 5: you bought the colonel's house.
[1:02:57] Speaker 1: The colonel sanders, yeah, right right, We're like okay, colonel great, Yeah, sure,
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: we bought that house.
[1:03:04] Speaker 5: And then we actually had a family friend who actually
[1:03:07] Speaker 5: knew the colonel. So the colonel built the house. She
[1:03:10] Speaker 5: knew him while she was growing up, and so she
[1:03:13] Speaker 5: remembered him building this house, and I guess it was
[1:03:15] Speaker 5: like a big deal in our town when this house
[1:03:17] Speaker 5: was built back in the seventies. And then she informed
[1:03:20] Speaker 5: us that he actually took his own life in the
[1:03:23] Speaker 5: house in the eighties. So we were like, well, that's
[1:03:27] Speaker 5: a little creepy, but okay. And then after we moved in,
[1:03:31] Speaker 5: activity pretty much started. Like right away, we installed some
[1:03:35] Speaker 5: gates to keep the dogs on the first floor so
[1:03:38] Speaker 5: they couldn't go up to the second floor because we
[1:03:40] Speaker 5: hadn't replaced the flooring up there yet. And at night,
[1:03:43] Speaker 5: for the first few weeks after the gates were up,
[1:03:45] Speaker 5: it would sound like someone was holding onto the gates
[1:03:48] Speaker 5: and shaking them really violently because they were metal gates,
[1:03:52] Speaker 5: like they were trying to like take them down or something.
[1:03:54] Speaker 5: My sister was the first to hear it. She said
[1:03:56] Speaker 5: it sounded like a toddler holding onto the gate and
[1:03:58] Speaker 5: like throwing a tantrum. And it wasn't the dogs, because
[1:04:02] Speaker 5: the dogs slept upstairs with.
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: Me, and I mean it couldn't have been wind. I mean,
[1:04:06] Speaker 1: it was like there was no explanation.
[1:04:09] Speaker 5: It was just no no explanation for it.
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: It's the Colonel, I'm convinced already, but let's go.
[1:04:15] Speaker 5: Yeah. So, my older sister was living at home at
[1:04:19] Speaker 5: the time, and she regularly got home from work after
[1:04:21] Speaker 5: midnight when everyone was already in bed. So one night
[1:04:24] Speaker 5: she got home, went up to her room, she got
[1:04:26] Speaker 5: into bed, and she was laying down with her back
[1:04:29] Speaker 5: to the bedroom door, and then she heard the bedroom
[1:04:32] Speaker 5: door open. A little while later, and it's very distinct sound.
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: The doorknob squeaks, the door drags across the carpet, and
[1:04:39] Speaker 5: then she heard someone go, hey.
[1:04:41] Speaker 1: Okay, you genuinely just scared me.
[1:04:46] Speaker 5: Yeah, So she turned around and went what thinking it
[1:04:49] Speaker 5: was our mom and like, why are you up? And
[1:04:51] Speaker 5: no one was there, Colonel, I know that same sister.
[1:04:55] Speaker 5: She was also the one to the first one of
[1:04:58] Speaker 5: us to see an actual apparition in the house. She
[1:05:02] Speaker 5: and I were in the driveway and we were leaving
[1:05:05] Speaker 5: to go run errand and she looked over at our
[1:05:08] Speaker 5: garage and it's a three stall garage and all three
[1:05:10] Speaker 5: doors were open because it was a funny summer day.
[1:05:12] Speaker 5: My dad was cleaning, and she said Hey, Dad, we're
[1:05:16] Speaker 5: going to the store. Do you need anything? And I
[1:05:18] Speaker 5: looked over at the garage and I was like, no
[1:05:20] Speaker 5: one's there. Dad's not that's not even home. He just left.
[1:05:23] Speaker 5: And She's like, no, I just saw him in the garage.
[1:05:26] Speaker 5: And she swear she saw a man standing in our garage.
[1:05:29] Speaker 5: And the way she could only describe him was he
[1:05:31] Speaker 5: was wearing jeans, and that's why she thought it was
[1:05:33] Speaker 5: our dad.
[1:05:34] Speaker 3: But when I looked over, no one was there.
[1:05:38] Speaker 1: Were you guys the kind of people that believed in
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: goes when you moved in and heard all.
[1:05:44] Speaker 5: Those I always had. I think my parents were definitely skeptical,
[1:05:49] Speaker 5: because you know, they're religious, And but my mom started
[1:05:53] Speaker 5: having experiences too, so's she believes. My dad still thinks
[1:05:57] Speaker 5: we're awful of crap. He thinks it's not true, okay,
[1:06:00] Speaker 5: but all of us have had experiences, so we're definitely
[1:06:03] Speaker 5: believers now.
[1:06:04] Speaker 6: If we weren't before.
[1:06:06] Speaker 1: What else happened?
[1:06:07] Speaker 5: So my younger sister, she was home alone, and she
[1:06:11] Speaker 5: was sitting at our kitchen table, and that kitchen table
[1:06:13] Speaker 5: faces this sliding glass door, and it was dark out,
[1:06:17] Speaker 5: and she happened to look up and in the reflection
[1:06:20] Speaker 5: of the sliding glass door. She saw a man walk
[1:06:23] Speaker 5: behind her from our family room into our kitchen, and
[1:06:27] Speaker 5: she said she couldn't really make out what he looked
[1:06:29] Speaker 5: like or what he was wearing, but it was a
[1:06:31] Speaker 5: very distinct figure of a man, and she was the
[1:06:34] Speaker 5: only one at home at that time. One of the
[1:06:37] Speaker 5: craziest things that ever happened was my mom had a
[1:06:40] Speaker 5: watch go missing, and she couldn't find it for a week.
[1:06:42] Speaker 5: She looked everywhere for it, and then after a while,
[1:06:47] Speaker 5: she one day went into the kitchen cabinet where we
[1:06:51] Speaker 5: keep our coffee cups, and as you can imagine, that's
[1:06:53] Speaker 5: a cabinet that gets opened multiple times a day. People
[1:06:56] Speaker 5: are always in and out of that cabinet, and she
[1:06:59] Speaker 5: found the watch just sitting there, laying very neatly on
[1:07:02] Speaker 5: the edge of the kitchen cabinet, where anyone would see
[1:07:06] Speaker 5: it had they been in that cabinet at all in
[1:07:08] Speaker 5: the past three weeks that this watch i'd been missing.
[1:07:10] Speaker 1: Colonel, What are you doing, colonel?
[1:07:13] Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's not the first time we've had like
[1:07:15] Speaker 5: jewelry or accessories go missing.
[1:07:17] Speaker 3: You know.
[1:07:17] Speaker 5: I had a ring go missing, and then I found
[1:07:19] Speaker 5: it in a shoe in my closet. Just weird things
[1:07:22] Speaker 5: like that all used to happen all the time. That
[1:07:25] Speaker 5: doesn't happen so much anymore.
[1:07:28] Speaker 1: Oh, you guys still have this in the family.
[1:07:30] Speaker 5: Oh ros I'm in the house right now. I'm in
[1:07:35] Speaker 5: the basement of the house right now.
[1:07:40] Speaker 1: Okay, So what happens nowadays?
[1:07:45] Speaker 5: Well, so, I've been touched many times, usually just like
[1:07:49] Speaker 5: a light touch on my shoulder. But one time I
[1:07:53] Speaker 5: was laying in bed and it felt like a hand
[1:07:57] Speaker 5: wrapped around my ankle and pulled, and I actually slid
[1:08:00] Speaker 5: down the bed a little bit. And that freaked me
[1:08:03] Speaker 5: out so much, not because like I thought it was
[1:08:05] Speaker 5: a threatening move, but whoever's in the house, If it's
[1:08:08] Speaker 5: the colonel, I believe it's the colonel. He had never
[1:08:12] Speaker 5: done anything like that before, and I was like, is
[1:08:14] Speaker 5: he trying to warn me about something? And I actually
[1:08:16] Speaker 5: like got up and went and checked like our wood
[1:08:19] Speaker 5: stove to make sure nothing was like on fire, because
[1:08:21] Speaker 5: it was just such a weird event that had never
[1:08:23] Speaker 5: happened before.
[1:08:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, what is his vibe?
[1:08:27] Speaker 3: You know, he's pretty chill.
[1:08:29] Speaker 5: Actually, We've never once felt threatened by him. I think
[1:08:34] Speaker 5: it's more about he just wants to be acknowledged, and
[1:08:37] Speaker 5: we've always kind of gotten the sense like he's really
[1:08:39] Speaker 5: grateful that a family was living in the house now
[1:08:43] Speaker 5: and not college students tearing it apart every weekend, and
[1:08:47] Speaker 5: that we that we actually like fixed up some of
[1:08:49] Speaker 5: the house. There's actually still projects to this day that
[1:08:52] Speaker 5: have to be done from damage to the house, but
[1:08:55] Speaker 5: we work on it little by little.
[1:08:57] Speaker 7: Well.
[1:08:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it'd be interesting to know if the college
[1:09:00] Speaker 1: students had these experiences, yeah, or you know, there's also
[1:09:06] Speaker 1: that common theory of once you start doing renovations, you
[1:09:10] Speaker 1: can wake up the spirits, right.
[1:09:13] Speaker 5: Yeah, So my sister actually knew the guys that had
[1:09:17] Speaker 5: been living in the house. Her friend was dating one
[1:09:19] Speaker 5: of him, and that's actually how we found out the
[1:09:22] Speaker 5: house was for sale, and they had told her they
[1:09:25] Speaker 5: had had some experiences. She never got any like definite stories,
[1:09:28] Speaker 5: but just like hearing things, because we hear footsteps all
[1:09:32] Speaker 5: the time in the house, like all the time coming
[1:09:35] Speaker 5: down the stairs, walking across the floor, like it's just
[1:09:38] Speaker 5: a constant thing in the house and we've kind of
[1:09:39] Speaker 5: gotten used to it.
[1:09:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, So you guys have been here for almost twenty
[1:09:44] Speaker 1: years at this point, Yeah, you just get used to it.
[1:09:48] Speaker 1: It's like no big deal, not a big deal.
[1:09:53] Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, Oh that's just colonel. Like this weekend,
[1:09:56] Speaker 5: we had opened up the double doors on the front
[1:09:58] Speaker 5: of the house because we were bringing a new oven in,
[1:10:01] Speaker 5: and we opened them up and then we had to
[1:10:03] Speaker 5: close them because we weren't going to do what we
[1:10:05] Speaker 5: were doing just yet. And then we went back to
[1:10:06] Speaker 5: open them again and we could only get one door
[1:10:08] Speaker 5: to open, and we were like, that's a little weird
[1:10:11] Speaker 5: because this one was just open, and we like played
[1:10:13] Speaker 5: around with it for a minute, and then we tried again.
[1:10:15] Speaker 5: It opened just fine, like nothing was wrong, and we
[1:10:17] Speaker 5: were like, oh, must have been the colonel. Like whenever
[1:10:20] Speaker 5: weird things like happen like that, we're like, oh, maybe
[1:10:22] Speaker 5: it was the colonel. Who knows, and we just kind
[1:10:24] Speaker 5: of move on with our day.
[1:10:26] Speaker 1: And this whole time, your dad claims that he has
[1:10:29] Speaker 1: never had experiences.
[1:10:31] Speaker 5: That's what he claims. He doesn't believe in any of this,
[1:10:34] Speaker 5: even with all of our stories. I'm like, I think
[1:10:37] Speaker 5: you're in denial.
[1:10:39] Speaker 1: I bet you if you gave him a couple of
[1:10:42] Speaker 1: pina coladas one night, he would tell you some stories.
[1:10:48] Speaker 5: Maybe maybe I should I should try that. You know.
[1:10:52] Speaker 5: One time we were sitting I was sitting in the
[1:10:54] Speaker 5: living room watching TV and we had an entertainment center
[1:10:57] Speaker 5: and the door to the entertainments that are started to
[1:11:00] Speaker 5: swing clothes, and I was just like annoyed and exasperated
[1:11:03] Speaker 5: that that was happening. So I just went Colonel, knock
[1:11:05] Speaker 5: it off, and the door swung back open. One of
[1:11:08] Speaker 5: my favorite stories because he was kind of like, oh,
[1:11:10] Speaker 5: sorry and just opened it back up again.
[1:11:13] Speaker 1: Gosh, I mean, yeah, it's so fascinating to me, like
[1:11:19] Speaker 1: just coexisting for all these years. What would you say?
[1:11:24] Speaker 1: I know, this is like an impossible thing to answer,
[1:11:27] Speaker 1: kind of, but like, are we talking once a day,
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: once a month? Like how often is the Colonel making
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: himself known?
[1:11:36] Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean we'll go a really long stretch with
[1:11:39] Speaker 5: nothing really happening in the house. Maybe footsteps every now
[1:11:42] Speaker 5: and then, but even then like not a lot, and
[1:11:45] Speaker 5: then it's like all of a sudden, he's like, oh,
[1:11:46] Speaker 5: I'm back, and he starts doing things again. Like I
[1:11:50] Speaker 5: was fully prepared to get on this call and tell
[1:11:52] Speaker 5: you like, yeah, I haven't really had anything happen in
[1:11:54] Speaker 5: the last couple of weeks. He's been kind of quiet.
[1:11:56] Speaker 5: But just this past weekend, I was again I was
[1:11:59] Speaker 5: alone in the house, and I was standing in the
[1:12:03] Speaker 5: four yer the entrance way, and from the kitchen I
[1:12:06] Speaker 5: heard a man like clear his throat like and I
[1:12:09] Speaker 5: was like, oh, Dad, are you home? And no one,
[1:12:12] Speaker 5: no one was in the house.
[1:12:13] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[1:12:14] Speaker 5: He just likes to pop up every now and then
[1:12:16] Speaker 5: just remind us that he's here.
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm like still shook that you are
[1:12:25] Speaker 1: like in the house right now. I think it's because
[1:12:29] Speaker 1: I bet I keep talking to people that are telling
[1:12:31] Speaker 1: me stories from like their past or whatever, and you're like, oh, no,
[1:12:35] Speaker 1: I'm actively with the colonel.
[1:12:38] Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I'm sitting right in the basement, you know,
[1:12:40] Speaker 5: in the house that he built. And I don't live
[1:12:43] Speaker 5: here anymore, but I regularly come here just to help
[1:12:46] Speaker 5: my parents with projects or anything like that. But it's
[1:12:49] Speaker 5: really just not uncommon to be sitting in the living
[1:12:51] Speaker 5: room and you know, here footsteps go across on the
[1:12:53] Speaker 5: second floor, or a cup gets knocked off in the
[1:12:56] Speaker 5: kitchen on the counter, and I always want to be like,
[1:12:59] Speaker 5: could you pick that up? Why are you knocking shit over?
[1:13:02] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[1:13:02] Speaker 5: But he never does. He doesn't clean.
[1:13:05] Speaker 1: I always wonder how much that kind of a thing is,
[1:13:09] Speaker 1: Like are they trying to get your attention or are
[1:13:14] Speaker 1: they trying to be koy or sly or whatever and
[1:13:18] Speaker 1: they accidentally bump into something and they're like ah shit
[1:13:21] Speaker 1: and then it falls over.
[1:13:23] Speaker 5: Yeah, sometimes I think it's it's the second one. But
[1:13:27] Speaker 5: sometimes when things fall over, like it's just it can't
[1:13:30] Speaker 5: be an accident, you know. I think if he's trying
[1:13:33] Speaker 5: to get his attention, get our attention, just even just
[1:13:36] Speaker 5: just be like, hey, I'm here, Yeah, don't forget about me.
[1:13:40] Speaker 5: It's like, well, we couldn't forget about you if we tried, so.
[1:13:46] Speaker 1: Well, Casey, this is great. Thanks for sharing this.
[1:13:49] Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
[1:13:51] Speaker 1: Is there anything else you wanted to share? While I got.
[1:13:53] Speaker 5: Ya maybe the only other thing that ever happened to
[1:13:57] Speaker 5: me that I was really like, oh, that was so weird.
[1:14:00] Speaker 5: As I was standing in the doorway of my parents'
[1:14:03] Speaker 5: bedroom and I had my back to the bedroom and
[1:14:05] Speaker 5: I was looking out into the hallway behind me, I
[1:14:08] Speaker 5: heard like, oh, like a whistle, like hey, get out
[1:14:10] Speaker 5: of my way, and I'd like turned to the side,
[1:14:13] Speaker 5: thinking like oh, maybe my dad was in the bathroom,
[1:14:15] Speaker 5: and I didn't know it, but no one was there
[1:14:17] Speaker 5: behind me. The room was totally empty. That was one
[1:14:20] Speaker 5: that kind of like raised my hair a little bit, like, oh, Colonel,
[1:14:22] Speaker 5: that was creepy. Can you not do that please?
[1:14:25] Speaker 1: It's so crazy to me that he like can kind
[1:14:27] Speaker 1: of talk like, Yeah, it's so weird.
[1:14:32] Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. My sisters say they've heard like conversations
[1:14:35] Speaker 5: happening in other parts of the house and then they
[1:14:38] Speaker 5: go look and no one's there. It's just yeah, strange things,
[1:14:41] Speaker 5: but never threatening, never crazy scary.
[1:14:44] Speaker 1: I mean getting pulled by the ankle and bed that's well, yeah,
[1:14:51] Speaker 1: that's not something that I would consider I wouldn't consider
[1:14:54] Speaker 1: that relaxing.
[1:14:56] Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see how some people wouldn't like that.
[1:15:02] Speaker 1: All right, Well, Casey, if anything else crazy happens now
[1:15:06] Speaker 1: that you've talked about him on a podcast, you let
[1:15:10] Speaker 1: me know.
[1:15:10] Speaker 5: I will probably something will happen as sin as we
[1:15:13] Speaker 5: hang up, cause I've been talking about him.
[1:15:15] Speaker 3: All right.
[1:15:16] Speaker 1: Well, good luck with that. Thank you so much to John,
[1:15:22] Speaker 1: John Morgan and Casey.
