[0:07] Speaker 1: What's that at the foot of my bed.
[0:10] Speaker 2: It's spooky, Joky, I'm really sure it's dead. It's coming
[0:14] Speaker 2: this way. Wait a minute, and he I ghosted.
[0:20] Speaker 1: As nandaz Plase.
[0:26] Speaker 2: Hey boo, it's me Roz and welcome to Ghosted by
[0:33] Speaker 2: Roz Hernandez, the podcast where I talk to people that
[0:36] Speaker 2: I like about the paranormal. I got to talk to
[0:43] Speaker 2: my dear old friend James Odomian, who is such a
[0:49] Speaker 2: hilarious comedian, an incredible performer, and he is an impressionist
[0:56] Speaker 2: and uh, he's he's just the best in the biz.
[1:00] Speaker 2: And whether you realize it or not, you've definitely heard
[1:03] Speaker 2: his voice in different you know, cartoons, and he's he's
[1:09] Speaker 2: always on Jimmy Kimmel doing impressions, and he's been doing
[1:14] Speaker 2: these impressions for years, and he finally now has his
[1:17] Speaker 2: first special out, which you can watch on YouTube. He'll
[1:22] Speaker 2: tell you about that. So I'm so happy to talk
[1:25] Speaker 2: to him. Turns out he also has a great ghost
[1:27] Speaker 2: story and we hear some of his famous impressions, so
[1:31] Speaker 2: that'll be coming at you soon. Let me read you
[1:34] Speaker 2: a ghost story real quick. This one came to my
[1:37] Speaker 2: email from Sammy and Sammy is writing from the United Kingdom.
[1:44] Speaker 2: Sammy writes, my father was a priest interesting and for
[1:50] Speaker 2: a while we lived in a vicarage in Pentton, Devon, Okay.
[1:56] Speaker 2: This all sounds very haunted. The local kids all knew
[2:01] Speaker 2: our house as the Haunted house, and it seems they
[2:04] Speaker 2: were right. When we moved in, the hallway light would flicker.
[2:10] Speaker 2: My parents chalked this up to faulty wiring and called
[2:14] Speaker 2: in an electrician. They didn't find anything wrong. Over the
[2:18] Speaker 2: years we had wires and parts and fuses replaced, and
[2:23] Speaker 2: the only explanation we ever got from any electrician was
[2:28] Speaker 2: everything looks fine, that shouldn't be happening. Weird. It still
[2:34] Speaker 2: flickered when we moved out nine years later. The dogs
[2:38] Speaker 2: used to growl at empty corners, the cats would hiss
[2:42] Speaker 2: at seemingly empty space. Then there was the time we
[2:48] Speaker 2: went out for the day and when we got back
[2:50] Speaker 2: all the upstairs windows were open. One Christmas, my parents
[2:55] Speaker 2: and my siblings were all in the living room, and
[2:58] Speaker 2: as I stepped in to join them, one of my
[3:00] Speaker 2: dad's Bibles flew out of the bookcases to my right
[3:06] Speaker 2: and landed open in front of me. On the first page.
[3:10] Speaker 2: Of the Book of Revelations. My dad never believed it
[3:15] Speaker 2: was haunted. He had blessed it when we moved in,
[3:18] Speaker 2: so as far as he was concerned, no ghost could
[3:21] Speaker 2: be there. Sammy, Oh my god, thank you Sammy. I
[3:27] Speaker 2: love I love British ghost stories. One of these days
[3:30] Speaker 2: I'm going to get out there. I really am just
[3:33] Speaker 2: dying to go to England and I want to go
[3:35] Speaker 2: to some spooky old places and do some shows or something.
[3:39] Speaker 2: One of these days is let's manifest that maybe for
[3:42] Speaker 2: this new year that's about to happen. I am going
[3:45] Speaker 2: to be doing some shows very soon. I am about
[3:49] Speaker 2: to be in New York City at Littlefield in Brooklyn.
[3:53] Speaker 2: I'm doing Ghosted Live. That's the eighth Sunday, and then
[3:59] Speaker 2: I'm going to go to Helium in Portland on the
[4:02] Speaker 2: eleventh Wednesday, and Seattle. I'm going to be at the
[4:06] Speaker 2: hereafter on the thirteenth doing Ghosted Live and stand up
[4:11] Speaker 2: that night. So get everything at linktree dot com, slash
[4:16] Speaker 2: roz Hernandez. Okay, let's talk to James Adomian and the
[4:20] Speaker 2: many voices that go with him and with the show.
[4:29] Speaker 2: Oh my god, we have a real voice over professional
[4:35] Speaker 2: A recording a recording artist. I'm gonna say, James Adomian.
[4:41] Speaker 1: Thank you, Oz. It's great to be here.
[4:43] Speaker 2: You've already explained to us how microphones work.
[4:46] Speaker 1: I admire your sure sm seven B. It's a good microphone.
[4:49] Speaker 2: Thank you. That's exactly right. Studios for you, they get
[4:53] Speaker 2: the best of the best. Well, you do a lot
[4:56] Speaker 2: of cartoons and stuff like.
[4:58] Speaker 1: That, and a lot of them here in Bourbonk. It's
[5:00] Speaker 1: I've said this before that Burbank is where half the
[5:02] Speaker 1: cartoons in the world are made in the city of Burbank.
[5:06] Speaker 1: Oh interesting because there's Disney and Nickelodeon here and Cartoon Network,
[5:11] Speaker 1: Warner Brothers, all kinds of stuff.
[5:13] Speaker 2: Up here, and there's like independ in studios. My favorite
[5:17] Speaker 2: part of Burbank is that there's what I call chicken
[5:20] Speaker 2: bone stores, which are like there's like quite a few
[5:24] Speaker 2: on Magnolia, like these stores where you get like a necklace,
[5:27] Speaker 2: but it's a hamster's claw, Like it's like weird.
[5:32] Speaker 1: Like one off stores.
[5:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, my audience loves that kind of stuff. I I
[5:37] Speaker 2: attract the chicken bone necklace audience that loves like a
[5:42] Speaker 2: repurpose like a they'll sell like a taxi dermied mouse.
[5:45] Speaker 2: But it's like on a stripper pole.
[5:47] Speaker 1: Burbank has these little shops. It's it's oddly walkable yet
[5:52] Speaker 1: both car oriented and so it's designed for people to
[5:55] Speaker 1: like park and then walk around a block or two
[5:58] Speaker 1: and like go to some.
[5:59] Speaker 2: Places totally and you stumble upon a chicken bone place
[6:03] Speaker 2: and then a gun store.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Yes a story weird because there's like a comic book
[6:08] Speaker 1: store that has liberal comedy shows and then across the
[6:11] Speaker 1: sheet street is like you don't tread on me guns yep,
[6:16] Speaker 1: bourbon gun.
[6:17] Speaker 2: Ammo got Burbank. So, James, I'm so excited you came
[6:23] Speaker 2: out here. I've known you for a minute.
[6:26] Speaker 1: I have.
[6:28] Speaker 2: I've never heard your ghost stories, but I hear that
[6:31] Speaker 2: you have one.
[6:32] Speaker 1: I do have one.
[6:33] Speaker 2: Do you believe?
[6:34] Speaker 1: So I don't believe, and yet I do.
[6:36] Speaker 2: Okay, Lissa, I'm like that too. I've got a lot
[6:39] Speaker 2: of these where I'm like, I don't know, but it happened.
[6:43] Speaker 1: Yeah. I always try to search for an explanation that,
[6:48] Speaker 1: you know, if possible. One thing is I don't rule
[6:51] Speaker 1: things out where it's like, who am I to tell
[6:53] Speaker 1: someone that they didn't see something? You know? I wasn't there,
[6:56] Speaker 1: you know, sure you could have perceived something the wrong way,
[6:58] Speaker 1: but also yeah, it was right next to him military base.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Maybe it was just airplanes, right, secret airplanes.
[7:04] Speaker 2: And yeah, that's why your house was shaking.
[7:06] Speaker 1: That time, right. And some of it sure is like
[7:11] Speaker 1: maybe sleep deprivation and you're seeing things or share different
[7:16] Speaker 1: states of consciousness.
[7:17] Speaker 2: But there's also a thing where it's like ignorance is bliss,
[7:20] Speaker 2: like okay for me when it comes to UFOs, I
[7:24] Speaker 2: don't know about any kind of planes, helicopter, I don't
[7:28] Speaker 2: know anything. So to me, a lot of things are
[7:30] Speaker 2: unidentified flying objects.
[7:33] Speaker 1: To be fair, ignorance in your case is terror. Yes,
[7:42] Speaker 1: d SR seventy one blackbird might as well be a
[7:45] Speaker 1: creature from beyond?
[7:47] Speaker 2: Is this Vincent Price?
[7:50] Speaker 1: How could I resist?
[7:52] Speaker 2: I love Vincent Price? I want his cookbook.
[7:55] Speaker 1: I have one, he has several h it's one of
[7:58] Speaker 1: my prized possessions. Someone gave it to me. It's god,
[8:02] Speaker 1: I should have thought to cut that out. Don't let
[8:04] Speaker 1: them think they're missing something. No, no, no, it's fine, I'll
[8:07] Speaker 1: bring it next time. It's it's a Mary and Vincent
[8:10] Speaker 1: Price's cookbook. And it's like a survey of a history
[8:14] Speaker 1: of American kitchen.
[8:16] Speaker 2: Well he also do you know about his Witchcraft album?
[8:20] Speaker 1: Uh?
[8:20] Speaker 2: No, Yeah, he has an album that I have an
[8:25] Speaker 2: eBay alert on that. I don't want to make anyone
[8:30] Speaker 2: that's listening like want to go out and buy it
[8:32] Speaker 2: for me. Don't don't do that. That's fine.
[8:34] Speaker 1: I've heard an album of his, but I don't think
[8:36] Speaker 1: it's that one. Unless that's the only one.
[8:38] Speaker 2: We won't be able to play it. But there is
[8:40] Speaker 2: clips online. It's called let Me see Vincent Price Witchcraft
[8:50] Speaker 2: Magic an Adventure in Demonology.
[8:53] Speaker 1: An Adventure in Demonology.
[8:55] Speaker 2: And there are excerpts that you can hear online of
[8:58] Speaker 2: him explaining demonology. It's from nineteen sixty nine. It's so cool,
[9:04] Speaker 2: oh my god. And it has like the track listing.
[9:07] Speaker 2: Here's track number two, Preparation for.
[9:10] Speaker 1: Magic, Preparation for Magic, side to.
[9:15] Speaker 2: Track one, which tortures the world of spirits and debons.
[9:21] Speaker 1: I love it.
[9:22] Speaker 2: It's so funn Let.
[9:23] Speaker 1: Me make up, Let me make up. I'm gonna imagine
[9:25] Speaker 1: a couple of them. Chapter the fourteenth, the Necromancers strikes
[9:30] Speaker 1: once again.
[9:31] Speaker 2: Wait, that's actually not wrong. Well, side three, Track one,
[9:36] Speaker 2: How to Communicate with the Spirits Yep, Gerald York and necromancy.
[9:42] Speaker 1: Oh my god, I skipped the head too far.
[9:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not off, which I kind of relate to
[9:48] Speaker 2: him because I maybe I'm wrong. I don't know his
[9:50] Speaker 2: full bio, but I feel like he was just an
[9:52] Speaker 2: actor that did a couple of spooky things and then
[9:55] Speaker 2: before you knew it, he's like, Okay, I guess I'm
[9:57] Speaker 2: just gonna teach people about demonology.
[10:00] Speaker 1: One of the jokes I made in the early days
[10:02] Speaker 1: was when I used to do Vincent Price a lot,
[10:03] Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, did a sketch where
[10:06] Speaker 1: I was like speaking to the homeowners Association and I
[10:09] Speaker 1: was like trying to get them not to condemn the mansion.
[10:12] Speaker 1: And I was like, I assure you, I am not
[10:15] Speaker 1: a madman, merely an actor who has played a madman
[10:18] Speaker 1: his entire life and is now quite completely done with
[10:22] Speaker 1: that lifelong role.
[10:24] Speaker 2: There's no escaping that for us when we see him
[10:27] Speaker 2: or hear him.
[10:28] Speaker 1: I used to see him as a child, always on TBS,
[10:32] Speaker 1: when TBS during the daytime only showed like terrible black
[10:35] Speaker 1: and white movies, and then he was in the ads
[10:39] Speaker 1: because he was still alive in the eighties, So he
[10:42] Speaker 1: was in ads for all kinds of stuff. You would
[10:46] Speaker 1: see him in an ad where he was making fun
[10:48] Speaker 1: of himself basically, and he'd be like, mildew horrible, mildew
[10:52] Speaker 1: stains Hylex brand tile cleaner kills, mildew did Okay.
[11:00] Speaker 2: So back to you though, So you like to rule
[11:04] Speaker 2: out if it's a ghost or not, You like to
[11:08] Speaker 2: rule out any possibilities.
[11:10] Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I hope keep in mind open. Uh, it's
[11:14] Speaker 1: possible that there's just simply other dimensions here that are
[11:18] Speaker 1: existing at the same time. Also, you know, so there's
[11:21] Speaker 1: things that are only perceived if you are sleep deprived
[11:26] Speaker 1: or brain injured or stressed out or something like that.
[11:30] Speaker 1: Or what do you think we're usually apathetic?
[11:32] Speaker 2: What about if someone's like drunk or high. Do you
[11:35] Speaker 2: think that that helps to.
[11:37] Speaker 1: No, I mean nothing helps.
[11:41] Speaker 2: Is that a good thing?
[11:42] Speaker 1: I mean, look, the brain can play tricks on itself too,
[11:44] Speaker 1: And so I generally am I generally am like agnostic
[11:48] Speaker 1: about a lot of things. So sometimes something's just an
[11:53] Speaker 1: interesting story, and it's really like the belief that makes
[11:57] Speaker 1: it interesting, the fact that anyone believes in it, whether
[12:00] Speaker 1: you do or not. Right, right, this is the this
[12:03] Speaker 1: is the trick of the campfire story.
[12:05] Speaker 2: I suppose that is what what I really have learned
[12:08] Speaker 2: over these years is like, like, I'm more focused about
[12:10] Speaker 2: the on the people that are telling the story. That that,
[12:14] Speaker 2: to me is what's so fascinating.
[12:16] Speaker 1: That can be fun where you start people watching the uh,
[12:20] Speaker 1: the person delivering the story. Yeah, is it a faulty narrator,
[12:24] Speaker 1: but still.
[12:25] Speaker 2: Like I mean, especially when you hear a story that's
[12:28] Speaker 2: like this scientist says that he was in a haunted house, right,
[12:33] Speaker 2: I'm like, well, if you're a scientist, you can't be lying.
[12:36] Speaker 1: Well, sure you can. This is the trick though scientists.
[12:40] Speaker 1: Scientists can make mistakes, and sometimes this happens a lot
[12:45] Speaker 1: in the world of like quack science, where someone has
[12:47] Speaker 1: like an accomplished scientific career and then they're like, well,
[12:51] Speaker 1: aside from that, they use their credentials from that to
[12:55] Speaker 1: be like, well, this, this, this, and this actually weird.
[12:58] Speaker 2: You say that because there's kind of something I wanted
[13:01] Speaker 2: to talk about later in the show that's similar to
[13:03] Speaker 2: that sort.
[13:04] Speaker 1: Of Yes, the delimitation between science and madness itself.
[13:08] Speaker 2: Wait, who is that?
[13:09] Speaker 1: I'm just doing a you know, a sensational voiceover.
[13:13] Speaker 2: Guy, God, you're fun to be around. There's not just
[13:18] Speaker 2: one person. There's a lot in there.
[13:20] Speaker 1: One never knows the realities that can come to the
[13:23] Speaker 1: foreground when one enters ghosted the podcast.
[13:27] Speaker 2: Okay, that sounded so cool.
[13:29] Speaker 1: Use it clip it.
[13:30] Speaker 2: Can you do a Liberaci because we have this Liberaci doll?
[13:35] Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, it's a little I don't
[13:38] Speaker 1: know if I'm gonna do it. Justice It's okay. TV
[13:40] Speaker 1: did a pretty damn good Liberaci.
[13:42] Speaker 2: Right, Well, it's actually not far off from Vincent Price.
[13:46] Speaker 2: I feel in like some ways, like I think it's
[13:48] Speaker 2: a similar tone. But anyway, Okay, so tell me a story.
[13:54] Speaker 1: There's one main ghost story that I do classify as
[13:56] Speaker 1: a possible ghost story because I have no other explanation
[13:59] Speaker 1: except two or three possible things that could deflate the
[14:01] Speaker 1: whole thing.
[14:02] Speaker 2: I'll judge.
[14:03] Speaker 1: Sure. I lived in a house I rented it along
[14:07] Speaker 1: with six other people. Where was this Hollywood boom boom?
[14:16] Speaker 1: When was this two thousand, two thousand and nine or ten?
[14:22] Speaker 2: Okay, so the year I moved here.
[14:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, so this was We lived in a large house
[14:27] Speaker 1: with a bunch of people that were in a sketch group.
[14:29] Speaker 1: Together and I was old it wigs everywhere exactly, wigs
[14:34] Speaker 1: and fake guns, you know, the perfect place for a murder.
[14:40] Speaker 1: And there was a It was one night and everyone's
[14:45] Speaker 1: Usually it was a loud, sort of always constant party place,
[14:48] Speaker 1: but this was I don't know what time of year
[14:49] Speaker 1: it was. Maybe people had gone away for Thanksgiving or something,
[14:53] Speaker 1: and so it was a relatively quiet night at the place.
[14:56] Speaker 1: This is over on Wilton anywhe bum bum Wilton.
[15:02] Speaker 2: See, so this is not Hills, This is like the city.
[15:08] Speaker 1: Yes, this is the city. Is near Wilton in Hollywood,
[15:11] Speaker 1: Wilt North Wilton Place. The house still stands, but not
[15:15] Speaker 1: for long. It's all boarded up and I'm afraid they're
[15:17] Speaker 1: gonna tear it down. It was a big old house
[15:20] Speaker 1: and it turned one hundred years old while we were
[15:21] Speaker 1: living there, old old craftsman house falling apart and.
[15:26] Speaker 2: Saying it will be an ugly hotel.
[15:28] Speaker 1: Fortunately probably something like that. Yeah, I wasn't there alone,
[15:32] Speaker 1: but it was such a big house. There was like,
[15:34] Speaker 1: you know, there was only a couple people around at
[15:35] Speaker 1: the times. It was me and maybe you know, two
[15:38] Speaker 1: out of the many people who lived there. And it
[15:40] Speaker 1: was late at night, and I had fallen asleep. Now,
[15:43] Speaker 1: the TV also was not on. I remember this because
[15:46] Speaker 1: you know, like you don't fall asleep with the TV on.
[15:49] Speaker 1: It might the electromagnetism distracts the mind from other forces
[15:53] Speaker 1: that might be trying to communicate with you. Yes, so
[15:56] Speaker 1: it was. It was just totally quiet, and I had
[15:59] Speaker 1: fallen asleep downstairs. I was not in my MI. I
[16:05] Speaker 1: was drunk all the time back then, but I can't
[16:07] Speaker 1: say I was particularly drunk.
[16:09] Speaker 2: Okay, just mildly drunk.
[16:12] Speaker 1: Maybe just the baseline level of at a few beers.
[16:15] Speaker 1: But I was spending twenty nine or thirty years old,
[16:17] Speaker 1: and so I passed out on the couch. But I
[16:19] Speaker 1: did that a lot. It's not just like for me.
[16:21] Speaker 1: That wasn't like a wasted drunk thing. Very often, I
[16:24] Speaker 1: would like read a book or you know whatever, just
[16:27] Speaker 1: be doing something and fall asleep.
[16:29] Speaker 2: I love sleeping on a couch.
[16:31] Speaker 1: It's hardwired into me because of unfortunately comedy touring. I
[16:36] Speaker 1: did so much of it when I was young that
[16:38] Speaker 1: I find it comforting at certain times. So I sleep
[16:43] Speaker 1: on my couch at home now, and I have a bed,
[16:45] Speaker 1: and I don't always sleep on the couch, but it's
[16:47] Speaker 1: just a perfectly valid place where I.
[16:48] Speaker 2: Sleep sometimes totally.
[16:51] Speaker 1: I'm now forty four years old. I still am like
[16:54] Speaker 1: have in my mind where it's like, yeah, you know,
[16:56] Speaker 1: you got to crash out. You know, you never you
[16:58] Speaker 1: got to crash out and wake up early.
[17:00] Speaker 2: But it's amazing if you have the ability to fall
[17:03] Speaker 2: asleep place. Because now, because I'm such a couch sleeper,
[17:06] Speaker 2: if I am like in a green room and I
[17:08] Speaker 2: have an hour, I can like just fall right asleep.
[17:11] Speaker 1: Of course you can't, yes.
[17:12] Speaker 2: But I have a giant circle shaped nineteen sixties bed.
[17:16] Speaker 1: I used to, Oh my god.
[17:18] Speaker 2: I sleep on the couch because I just like it.
[17:21] Speaker 1: The beds for special occasions. I suppose I used to
[17:26] Speaker 1: have a round bed, and I regret so much that
[17:28] Speaker 1: I had to get rid of it when I moved
[17:30] Speaker 1: from LA to New York. Briefly, I couldn't get it anywhere,
[17:33] Speaker 1: store it anywhere, and I kept the cover and then
[17:38] Speaker 1: kind of just rolled the foam into the street down
[17:41] Speaker 1: the way and it's like, bye bye, I'm going to
[17:43] Speaker 1: New York.
[17:43] Speaker 2: And I found it that day.
[17:45] Speaker 1: But maybe you did. A round bed is such a
[17:49] Speaker 1: beautiful thing. It's like no one has them, and they're
[17:52] Speaker 1: so fun to hang out on and like have lorech
[17:54] Speaker 1: of pillows piled up.
[17:56] Speaker 2: Wow, I'm trying to become polyamorous because I could fit
[17:58] Speaker 2: like literally four people in this bad.
[18:01] Speaker 1: And people love it. People round beds. That's like the
[18:04] Speaker 1: greatest Deproallysia. Yeah, so I was not sleeping in my
[18:11] Speaker 1: round bed, which I did have at the time upstairs.
[18:13] Speaker 1: I was downstairs, fell asleep on the couch. It was
[18:17] Speaker 1: about three or four in the morning. It was like
[18:21] Speaker 1: it was like the dead of night, nothing happening. There
[18:26] Speaker 1: was not a lot of lights on. Uh maybe there
[18:29] Speaker 1: was like a light on in the kitchen or something,
[18:30] Speaker 1: but it was like it was just it was kind
[18:32] Speaker 1: of nice and quiet. It's also worth noting it was
[18:34] Speaker 1: not complete dark. You know, it was somewhere between, somewhere
[18:37] Speaker 1: between light and dark.
[18:39] Speaker 2: You're really you're really giving us these these details. I
[18:44] Speaker 2: feel like this is I'm scared of it.
[18:45] Speaker 1: It might let you down. There was a presence, m
[18:53] Speaker 1: do you like that? Do you like my dubstep horror
[18:55] Speaker 1: movie soundtrack? Dubstep music seems to have gone out of fact,
[19:00] Speaker 1: should accept it's thriving in the world of horror movie soundtrack.
[19:03] Speaker 2: Exactly, and then they just slow down a famous song,
[19:09] Speaker 2: you know, like that's what they always do these days.
[19:13] Speaker 1: Help I need somebody, yes, exactly.
[19:18] Speaker 2: And that's all we can use is.
[19:19] Speaker 1: That there was a presence that was standing over me
[19:22] Speaker 1: from behind the back of the couch, but leaning right
[19:26] Speaker 1: over and because it was you know, the couch had
[19:30] Speaker 1: the back open in the room, you know what I mean,
[19:32] Speaker 1: not against the wall. So there was this presence standing
[19:36] Speaker 1: like a tall person looking down at me, and it
[19:40] Speaker 1: felt like I was touched. It felt like somebody touched
[19:43] Speaker 1: me and was trying to wake me up. And I
[19:46] Speaker 1: woke up and for a second was like who did that?
[19:50] Speaker 1: And then noticed that no one was there, and then
[19:52] Speaker 1: thought someone was hiding behind the couch and I was
[19:55] Speaker 1: like what and no one was there, and then I
[19:58] Speaker 1: realized the present was still there. Not hard to describe this,
[20:04] Speaker 1: not like visible like in a Scooby Doo cartoon, okay,
[20:10] Speaker 1: not someone where I could have pulled it off and
[20:14] Speaker 1: would have. I would have gotten my way with it
[20:16] Speaker 1: if it weren't for you.
[20:17] Speaker 2: Yes, that was Liberaci.
[20:20] Speaker 1: You had actually usually And then I realized it wasn't
[20:26] Speaker 1: going away, and I was awake no, yes, I yelled
[20:32] Speaker 1: very loudly, you got the fuck away from me. And
[20:36] Speaker 1: I jumped up over the couch and sort of ran
[20:39] Speaker 1: and pushed this presence, this energy as hard as I
[20:43] Speaker 1: could back up against the wall. And then it was.
[20:46] Speaker 2: Gone, Okay, that is a man right there.
[20:51] Speaker 1: Me that was oh, I'm just a queen.
[20:54] Speaker 2: You ran towards it.
[20:57] Speaker 1: I did run towards the ghosts, but then it disappeared.
[21:00] Speaker 1: But then there was this it wasn't like audibly laughing
[21:02] Speaker 1: at me, but there was this like energy of like, haha,
[21:06] Speaker 1: didn't get me, and it was gone.
[21:08] Speaker 2: First of all, that ghost should not be cocky, because
[21:11] Speaker 2: it did leave, like you did get it away and
[21:15] Speaker 2: you went right up to I bet you that ghost
[21:17] Speaker 2: over It's many years of being a ghost has always
[21:20] Speaker 2: had people run screaming. Listen, I've heard thousands of these stories.
[21:25] Speaker 2: People don't run towards it.
[21:27] Speaker 1: Well, This was a house that had been lived in
[21:30] Speaker 1: by many, many, many many people since like nineteen eleven
[21:34] Speaker 1: or whatever when it was, or nineteen thirteen, whatever it was.
[21:38] Speaker 1: It was a big, big house, so lots of different people,
[21:41] Speaker 1: like families and like it had at one time been
[21:45] Speaker 1: lodging for seminary students for the Catholic Church trying to
[21:49] Speaker 1: be priests. It had been inhabited by a couple of
[21:52] Speaker 1: different groups of like hippies in the sixties and seventies
[21:56] Speaker 1: that you had at different times used it as a
[21:58] Speaker 1: commune and a couple of different Like I know, there's
[22:02] Speaker 1: a screenwriter, Josh Olsen, who actually lived there in a
[22:05] Speaker 1: different time than I did, who told me some of
[22:07] Speaker 1: the stories about it later on.
[22:09] Speaker 2: Did that did he have any uh?
[22:11] Speaker 1: I haven't asked him that. It's a good question. But also,
[22:13] Speaker 1: oddly enough, it's no, this is not necessarily remarkable because
[22:17] Speaker 1: Charlie Chaplin lived is famous for living in many plates places.
[22:20] Speaker 1: You lived everywhere, He lived everywhere. It's one of the
[22:23] Speaker 1: places that Chaplain lived in.
[22:24] Speaker 2: Also, did this guy just like do a week here,
[22:27] Speaker 2: do a week there? Because I swear to God that
[22:29] Speaker 2: is how it is that and Marilyn Monroe lived here.
[22:33] Speaker 1: I think it's because they didn't. They hadn't invented like
[22:37] Speaker 1: gates for houses back then, so if you got if
[22:39] Speaker 1: people found out that a famous person was there, you
[22:41] Speaker 1: had to be like, well, we're moving.
[22:43] Speaker 2: Ah okay, that makes sense.
[22:45] Speaker 1: It is not wrong about that that could be.
[22:46] Speaker 2: I thought, you're gonna say he would just walk into
[22:49] Speaker 2: houses and live there because there wasn't a gate.
[22:51] Speaker 1: Los Angeles was so new that the hedges hadn't had
[22:54] Speaker 1: time to grow up, so they were there were like
[22:56] Speaker 1: these little tiny bushes everywhere. It didn't protect you.
[23:00] Speaker 2: So if you were to guess what that was, I mean,
[23:04] Speaker 2: what what what would you think? Do you think it
[23:06] Speaker 2: was a spirit of a I did a priest? Did
[23:10] Speaker 2: a priest come visit you in the middle of the night?
[23:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, and I didn't. It didn't seem malicious. It seemed
[23:15] Speaker 1: in hindsight, I felt a little bit guilty, like maybe
[23:18] Speaker 1: I should have given the ghost a chance.
[23:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, that could have You guys could have done a
[23:22] Speaker 2: comedy duo, because I thought.
[23:23] Speaker 1: Maybe they just wanted to reach out and chat and
[23:25] Speaker 1: hang out or be like, hey, you're an impath, you
[23:29] Speaker 1: can see me, you know. And I maybe overreacted. So
[23:33] Speaker 1: I thought about it, and I looked it up, and
[23:35] Speaker 1: I talked to some people, and I then after that
[23:39] Speaker 1: up in my room, I lit a candle a couple
[23:42] Speaker 1: nights in a row and put out some whiskey and
[23:45] Speaker 1: like said some nice intentions where it's like you know,
[23:49] Speaker 1: I'm sorry, you know, hang out, but don't don't try
[23:51] Speaker 1: to scare me. Yeah, you know, a negotiation.
[23:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, totally give it some whiskey. It'll be fine.
[23:58] Speaker 1: And that's been my policy now since then. If I
[24:02] Speaker 1: was in like there was a there was a theater
[24:04] Speaker 1: that had there's lots of theaters that are haunted, but
[24:07] Speaker 1: there was one in particular. I used to hang out
[24:08] Speaker 1: it a lot. The cook in the Cave in New
[24:10] Speaker 1: York and other places where I know that where there's
[24:14] Speaker 1: a story that there's a spirit, you know, whether I
[24:16] Speaker 1: see it or not. Sometimes I'll just be like, hey,
[24:18] Speaker 1: how you doing?
[24:19] Speaker 2: Or give it whiskey.
[24:21] Speaker 1: You know it's expensive. You don't want to just be wasting.
[24:23] Speaker 2: You can't just give whiskey. Yeah, it's like it's not
[24:26] Speaker 2: Santa with milk and cookies.
[24:27] Speaker 1: Also, some of the some of the ghosts are like,
[24:29] Speaker 1: thank you, I've had too much over the centuries.
[24:31] Speaker 2: Yes, So of those other people that lived there when
[24:37] Speaker 2: you lived there, did they ever have stories?
[24:39] Speaker 1: I don't think so. I'd have to consult them one
[24:41] Speaker 1: by one to interrogate them about.
[24:43] Speaker 2: But it wasn't a well known like we all know
[24:46] Speaker 2: there's the ghost in the living room.
[24:47] Speaker 1: No, but there I guess there were people who had
[24:50] Speaker 1: been like it was constantly, did you guys hear something
[24:52] Speaker 1: or hear some or not hear something because there was
[24:54] Speaker 1: so many people in the house and it was kind
[24:56] Speaker 1: of a party place. I would only think of this
[24:58] Speaker 1: as remarkable because I was alone and no one was around. No,
[25:02] Speaker 1: like there was no one. There was this giant, like
[25:04] Speaker 1: one large room on the first floor kind of with
[25:07] Speaker 1: no doors, and there's no there was no one around.
[25:09] Speaker 2: That's a really hard environment to live with that many people.
[25:13] Speaker 1: Uh, maybe I was just stressed out.
[25:15] Speaker 2: Well, what I'm saying is like to note there's a
[25:18] Speaker 2: ghost or not, you know, because it's like, why are
[25:22] Speaker 2: there dirty dishes?
[25:23] Speaker 1: And the it was a ghost like the ghosts?
[25:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
[25:27] Speaker 1: Also, you know, I do have vivid dreams sometimes, but
[25:29] Speaker 1: I don't think this was that because my dreams are different.
[25:35] Speaker 1: I don't have physically imposing dreams. Is that a way
[25:39] Speaker 1: to Yeah, I don't have dreams that feel like somebody's
[25:42] Speaker 1: hovering over me and poking me. Yeah, I have adventure
[25:45] Speaker 1: dreams that I and I try to write them down
[25:47] Speaker 1: when I wake up, But it's a very different sort
[25:48] Speaker 1: of like mindscape the dreams that I have compared to
[25:53] Speaker 1: this sensation.
[25:54] Speaker 2: I'm just so impressed by you the way you handled
[25:58] Speaker 2: that that is insane.
[26:01] Speaker 1: That I was like, well, that's probably the peak of
[26:05] Speaker 1: my young life at the age of you know, twenty
[26:08] Speaker 1: nine or thirty, probably the peak of my ability to
[26:11] Speaker 1: yell at yell at anything and be able to back
[26:14] Speaker 1: it up in any way.
[26:15] Speaker 2: That it's really it's very impressive. Are you. Are you
[26:19] Speaker 2: single at the moment?
[26:21] Speaker 1: Sure? I don't know how to answer that.
[26:23] Speaker 2: These days ballas if you are looking for someone that
[26:27] Speaker 2: will scare a ghost off in the middle of the night.
[26:29] Speaker 2: I mean, that's impressive. That's what I'm looking for.
[26:32] Speaker 1: Well more, I've learned since then to maybe not try
[26:36] Speaker 1: to scare them off, but just try to like be like, Okay,
[26:40] Speaker 1: here's a treat, go on your way. Yeah, I think
[26:43] Speaker 1: sometimes I think about it, and I was like, I
[26:45] Speaker 1: was too mean.
[26:48] Speaker 2: I think it's fine.
[26:49] Speaker 1: It's probably fine. They're dead anyway, right, they're already dead.
[26:53] Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like it's the worst is they're
[26:56] Speaker 1: going to be disappointed.
[26:57] Speaker 2: I lost a friend, Yeah, but you know, it made
[27:00] Speaker 2: a good story though.
[27:02] Speaker 1: It did, And I do think about it sometimes and
[27:05] Speaker 1: I can't recall that it's happened since then. It was
[27:09] Speaker 1: a maybe a unique thing to that house, or you know.
[27:13] Speaker 2: Sometimes what I've learned from here in these stories. Sometimes
[27:17] Speaker 2: it's not even connected to the place. It's like, who knows,
[27:21] Speaker 2: somebody threw a ghost at you when you were walking
[27:24] Speaker 2: down the street. You picked one.
[27:26] Speaker 1: Up somewhere, sure, who knows?
[27:28] Speaker 2: Who knows, right, And it was just a one time.
[27:32] Speaker 1: It's like a video game in that way.
[27:33] Speaker 2: And that poor ghost was like, okay, never mind, God sorry, Yeah, the.
[27:40] Speaker 1: Ghost is like I just wanted to know if I
[27:41] Speaker 1: could have some of your cheeses.
[27:45] Speaker 2: So I was thinking we could do something fun and
[27:49] Speaker 2: interesting and unique and different that we've never done on
[27:51] Speaker 2: the show.
[27:53] Speaker 1: I usually have a.
[27:53] Speaker 2: Strict real no impressionist, but there's.
[27:56] Speaker 1: One why why of all the we have so few
[28:00] Speaker 1: rules here?
[28:02] Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. You're definitely my favorite impressionist.
[28:06] Speaker 1: Well, thank you, it's an honor to be here.
[28:08] Speaker 2: No, I've always loved your impressions so much, And if
[28:12] Speaker 2: anyone has the opportunity to see James live, it is
[28:17] Speaker 2: such a fun experience to watch all the different people
[28:22] Speaker 2: you embody.
[28:24] Speaker 1: Funny enough there are opportunities to see me live.
[28:26] Speaker 2: Stay tuned, okay, yes, make sure you're listening. People.
[28:32] Speaker 1: I list some of those on my website and I'll
[28:33] Speaker 1: recount them at the appropriate.
[28:35] Speaker 2: Hour, please. So I was trying to think of you know,
[28:40] Speaker 2: Wikipedia gave me a couple of names that you've you're
[28:43] Speaker 2: famous for. I was, you know, I was thinking from
[28:46] Speaker 2: my own experience of being a fan. Over all these.
[28:50] Speaker 1: Years, we've done so many things together in the show
[28:53] Speaker 1: business on the boards, you know, we've really such a
[28:57] Speaker 1: oh dear old friend.
[28:59] Speaker 2: Really really, so, I was thinking, maybe some of those
[29:02] Speaker 2: people have ghost stories. So I found let me see here,
[29:08] Speaker 2: I found one, two, three, four that have ghost stories.
[29:15] Speaker 1: If you're down, did that you've looked this up? That
[29:17] Speaker 1: these they actually have them?
[29:19] Speaker 2: Honey, I was spending time. I was going Mike Lindell
[29:23] Speaker 2: ghost story. Literally, my Google history is like Eddie Pepatone Aliens.
[29:30] Speaker 3: I were stuffed into a trunk of a link of
[29:33] Speaker 3: toe car in Minneapolis. I let me tell you, it
[29:36] Speaker 3: was ten am before they open it up, and I
[29:38] Speaker 3: had ghost a whole time bumping her out and hight
[29:40] Speaker 3: her spare tires.
[29:42] Speaker 2: That's more than what I found. There was no Mike
[29:46] Speaker 2: Lindell ghost story.
[29:47] Speaker 1: Right, is the ghost story?
[29:49] Speaker 2: He is the ghost story and you could see him.
[29:51] Speaker 1: I would have gotten away with it. Two if it
[29:53] Speaker 1: weren't for you durt meddling kids.
[29:55] Speaker 2: If you ever see him on Jimmy Kimmel Live, that
[29:57] Speaker 2: is jameson Doomia.
[29:58] Speaker 1: Yes, that's I'm the my a little guy on Jimmy Kimmel.
[30:01] Speaker 2: Uh So if I give you some names, would you
[30:05] Speaker 2: be willing to give us a little idea of what
[30:07] Speaker 2: that might.
[30:08] Speaker 1: So yeah, let's try. Let's guess. Let's guess the ghost story, right, Okay?
[30:11] Speaker 2: Do you want me to tell you like a prompt
[30:14] Speaker 2: like where it was?
[30:15] Speaker 1: Or um? Sure? Yeah? Okay?
[30:19] Speaker 2: Paul Giamadi, Yeah, well, while uh playing Hamlet.
[30:25] Speaker 1: Of course, there it is. I was. I was cast
[30:30] Speaker 1: in the role of Hamlet. I cashed myself because well,
[30:33] Speaker 1: let's face it, I've been middle eight since I was
[30:36] Speaker 1: fucking born.
[30:39] Speaker 2: But there was a coach.
[30:39] Speaker 1: I was playing Hamlet. I was doing all the parts myself,
[30:42] Speaker 1: and what do you know, I forgot the lines. I
[30:45] Speaker 1: was bombing bombing as the tortured Prince of Denmark and
[30:49] Speaker 1: then well, what do you know, fuck me? It turns
[30:51] Speaker 1: out I was right there on stage and I said
[30:54] Speaker 1: a last poor yorick, and I was holding the skull
[30:57] Speaker 1: up and then it started talking back to me. He said, litten,
[31:02] Speaker 1: fuck face, you're not pushing tickets, and I said, that
[31:06] Speaker 1: doesn't scam with Shakespeare's.
[31:08] Speaker 2: Portfolio, honestly, not far off. This is what scares me
[31:15] Speaker 2: about when we perform in these haunted theaters, Like I
[31:19] Speaker 2: always think about if I saw a ghost when I'm
[31:21] Speaker 2: on stage, like that would destroy me, like the fear
[31:25] Speaker 2: of like, oh my god, I still have to do,
[31:27] Speaker 2: especially like a scripted.
[31:29] Speaker 1: Time I was on stage. This wasn't a ghost, but
[31:33] Speaker 1: like from the back of the room. I was on
[31:35] Speaker 1: stage at this comedy theater and they had all these
[31:38] Speaker 1: like pop culture things that you know, very often you're
[31:40] Speaker 1: on stage and you've got like a picture of Richard
[31:42] Speaker 1: Pryor and Bill shit that you have to ignore while
[31:45] Speaker 1: you're doing comedy. But this one they had all these
[31:48] Speaker 1: like pop culture characters and straight in the back directly
[31:51] Speaker 1: facing me was a giant wizard Gandolf as played by
[31:56] Speaker 1: Ian McKellen. The whole time there was the Scandolf staring
[32:01] Speaker 1: at me from the back of the room like do
[32:03] Speaker 1: you really think that was entertaining.
[32:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, I so, Paul jam The skull did not talk
[32:13] Speaker 2: back to him, but it was his dagger, so.
[32:16] Speaker 1: He a very short and small dagger.
[32:19] Speaker 2: Okay, the dagger did not tug back to him, but.
[32:22] Speaker 1: You know what's a delicate dagger. It's not a great weapon,
[32:25] Speaker 1: but it's a fantastic little shine cut.
[32:28] Speaker 2: He was on Steven Colbert and he was telling him
[32:31] Speaker 2: that when he was doing Hamlet at the at Yell
[32:36] Speaker 2: Repertoire at Yale Repertory.
[32:38] Speaker 1: That's right, and forty.
[32:39] Speaker 2: Year old Hamlet in twenty thirteen.
[32:43] Speaker 1: A gray haired, bald fucking a Hamlet.
[32:47] Speaker 2: So he's on stage and he's like, where's my prop dagger?
[32:53] Speaker 2: And he can't find it anywhere. And then during intermission
[32:58] Speaker 2: the stage hands are searching the stage, they're looking for
[33:00] Speaker 2: through the audience. They can't find it anywhere, and then
[33:03] Speaker 2: they find his dagger in an act too, on a
[33:08] Speaker 2: piece of scenery that he says was one hundred feet
[33:10] Speaker 2: up in the air, even though the dagger was on
[33:13] Speaker 2: him when he first started the show. Mmmm, he says,
[33:17] Speaker 2: it was a ghost. See this was great, that was great.
[33:23] Speaker 2: Can we keep going?
[33:24] Speaker 1: Yes? Okay, terrifying the terrifying tale, Paul Giamani and the
[33:28] Speaker 1: al Tagger ghost.
[33:30] Speaker 2: How about Gary Busey, Ladies and gentlemen and the soup
[33:35] Speaker 2: ghost Raj.
[33:36] Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. I'm firm, firm, and I
[33:39] Speaker 1: treasured this opportunity to come forward and talk about these
[33:42] Speaker 1: issues with a creditable witness here because I've talked to this,
[33:46] Speaker 1: I've been on the BBC, I've been on Chinese Communist News,
[33:50] Speaker 1: and the only person that has given me a platform
[33:52] Speaker 1: to talk about the truth of the supernatural is here
[33:55] Speaker 1: right on this program.
[33:56] Speaker 2: That's what we do.
[33:57] Speaker 1: And I believe in ghost, God's hell only Satan transgendered.
[34:04] Speaker 1: I don't know if I like that one.
[34:07] Speaker 2: So he says, quote, I had a ghost one time
[34:13] Speaker 2: come out of a big plate of soup. I had
[34:17] Speaker 2: plates of soup, a big bowl of soup. He corrects himself.
[34:21] Speaker 2: It was called a soup ghost, he continued.
[34:24] Speaker 1: It was the ever gaged into a bowl of soup
[34:26] Speaker 1: and seen the supernatural. That's the that is the that
[34:29] Speaker 1: is the kind of important wordplay that can lead you
[34:32] Speaker 1: towards the path path of victories or a path of
[34:34] Speaker 1: devil deviltry.
[34:36] Speaker 2: It could have been like a ghost of a klam,
[34:38] Speaker 2: a clam chowder ghost or something.
[34:41] Speaker 1: Look the clams. We've seen Alice in Wonderland. The clams
[34:43] Speaker 1: are down there. They have bonnets on. Lady, gentlemen, this
[34:47] Speaker 1: is this is the truth. The walrus and the carpenter
[34:49] Speaker 1: were trying to lead us down the path of truth.
[34:51] Speaker 2: He says it was a good looking ghost because it
[34:54] Speaker 2: was covered in vegetables. He says, that's my kind of broccoli.
[34:58] Speaker 1: Sometimes the broccoli is horning down there, Ladies, gentlemen, I've looked.
[35:02] Speaker 1: I've looked the soup in the eye. Sometimes the waiter
[35:05] Speaker 1: brings a bowl of soup. Uh, there's a French onion soup,
[35:10] Speaker 1: or like you said, a clamshowder or a good ministroni
[35:13] Speaker 1: or something, even if a spot show. I will PLoP
[35:15] Speaker 1: my face right down there and I will gurgle through
[35:18] Speaker 1: the liquid and say, waiter, there is a genius inside
[35:20] Speaker 1: of my soup. And I wait for the response, because
[35:23] Speaker 1: that's the word of Heaven.
[35:24] Speaker 2: Thank you, Cary, beauty.
[35:28] Speaker 1: You know what heaven stands for. He everlasting, always vets
[35:32] Speaker 1: every necessity.
[35:34] Speaker 2: Wow, I can't believe you get because I have seen
[35:36] Speaker 2: him do that thing. Where does the yeah, I guess
[35:40] Speaker 2: acronym for every.
[35:41] Speaker 1: Word, always creating redundant observations. Never your mind.
[35:48] Speaker 2: Wait, soup is supernatural?
[35:51] Speaker 1: Well that's just that's just a that's a contraction. Oh
[35:54] Speaker 1: that's soup is just simply short for supernatural.
[35:59] Speaker 2: The ass is supernatural.
[36:00] Speaker 1: Oh sure, but that supernatural observation is under penalty. Wow
[36:06] Speaker 1: are you now?
[36:06] Speaker 2: I'm going to rip it off and see if Gerry
[36:08] Speaker 2: PC is really in there.
[36:11] Speaker 1: I would not have gotten away with it because I
[36:12] Speaker 1: would have turned myself in if not for you meddling kids.
[36:16] Speaker 2: It says that he was heading out of Ralph's one
[36:18] Speaker 2: day in Malibu and uh TMZ asked him about seeing ghosts,
[36:23] Speaker 2: and that's when he gave us that wonderful story about
[36:26] Speaker 2: the soup ghost.
[36:28] Speaker 1: I love that he's the one guy that TMZ interrupts
[36:31] Speaker 1: on the street and he's like, oh, I'm I'm grateful
[36:33] Speaker 1: to talk to you. I'll sit here, I'll talk to
[36:35] Speaker 1: you for forty five minutes. TMZ is the one that's like,
[36:37] Speaker 1: it's like, okay, we're done, let's get out of here.
[36:40] Speaker 2: That's a nice There's more.
[36:41] Speaker 1: I have more to say.
[36:43] Speaker 2: This is more than we can use.
[36:45] Speaker 1: Ralph is funded by the macis.
[36:48] Speaker 2: So moving along. We've got Mark Marin who claims he
[36:56] Speaker 2: experienced a ghost in nineteen eighty eight, eight in New
[37:00] Speaker 2: York City.
[37:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I don't know. It was a summer in Ducaucus.
[37:04] Speaker 1: Everybody's everybody thought, Ducacus, who's gonna win. It was eighty eight.
[37:08] Speaker 1: We were young. We were doing the New New York thing.
[37:11] Speaker 1: I was on stage. I was I was on stage
[37:13] Speaker 1: at the cellar. I was on the stage of cellar.
[37:17] Speaker 1: It was bombing. It was bombing, and then I got
[37:19] Speaker 1: off and there was nobody at the table. He turned
[37:21] Speaker 1: the lights out and then suddenly I was levitating. It
[37:24] Speaker 1: was the ghost. It was the ghost of It was
[37:26] Speaker 1: the ghost of Sam Kennison. Fuck, it was the ghost
[37:30] Speaker 1: of Sam Kisson. He accused me of stealing one of
[37:32] Speaker 1: his jokes. I said, look, let's talk it out, man.
[37:36] Speaker 2: Wow, God, I love Mark me if wait, is the
[37:39] Speaker 2: under culture still out there? No thanks for asking, but
[37:43] Speaker 2: I mean, like, is it's still it's out there?
[37:44] Speaker 1: Yeah? That was.
[37:45] Speaker 2: There's an episode where you played Mark myren and our
[37:49] Speaker 2: dear friend, Our dear friend, Sam Pancake, Sam Pancake, Thank
[37:53] Speaker 2: you I forgot to Sam pan Cake plays rip Tailer.
[37:57] Speaker 1: That might be the best interview we did on the culture.
[38:00] Speaker 1: There was my podcast that ran for a year from
[38:03] Speaker 1: the pandemic killed it. It was twenty nineteen to twenty twenty.
[38:07] Speaker 1: It was the under Culture on Forever Dog and it
[38:09] Speaker 1: is very funny and it still exists. A lot of
[38:12] Speaker 1: it's on YouTube or Apple podcasts, but the whole thing
[38:16] Speaker 1: is on the website behind us. Very very one dollar
[38:20] Speaker 1: pay one.
[38:20] Speaker 2: That was one of the funniest pieces of comedy I
[38:23] Speaker 2: have ever heard. Both of you were just so on.
[38:25] Speaker 1: I was Mark Maren and Sam Pancake was Rip Tailor,
[38:29] Speaker 1: and I was trying because it was a conversation I imagine,
[38:32] Speaker 1: I just wanted to hear this, and so I was like, Rip,
[38:35] Speaker 1: come on, let's get down to it Rip, and he would.
[38:38] Speaker 1: Sam Pancake was hilariously. He told me he was going
[38:42] Speaker 1: to do this, not listening to anything I was saying
[38:45] Speaker 1: or asking, and just railroading. But it was appropriate because
[38:49] Speaker 1: that's what Rip Taylor would have done it.
[38:51] Speaker 2: It was kind of like when Gallagher was on Mark Maren.
[38:54] Speaker 1: We wanted it to be like that.
[38:55] Speaker 2: Then he kind of walked out at the I'm like
[38:58] Speaker 2: off book On this episode of the under culture. I've
[39:01] Speaker 2: listened to it so many times.
[39:03] Speaker 1: I love it too. I think there's a short clip
[39:05] Speaker 1: of it on YouTube that might be my favorite interview
[39:09] Speaker 1: from the whole damn thing.
[39:10] Speaker 2: Oh well, so Mark Maren's real story, we don't know
[39:13] Speaker 2: much about it. Hopefully one of these days we'll get
[39:16] Speaker 2: him in here, because I love Mark Maren. But he
[39:19] Speaker 2: basically was replying on a very short TikTok. Someone asked him,
[39:23] Speaker 2: they said, is it true that you saw a ghost
[39:25] Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty eight in New York City? And his
[39:28] Speaker 2: quote was something moved a chair, but I was really high.
[39:35] Speaker 1: That's a full I love how literal Maren does. I
[39:39] Speaker 1: don't buy any of the stuff, you know, you know
[39:42] Speaker 1: the They didn't light any candles, he didn't ask anybody,
[39:45] Speaker 1: There was no I didn't do any taro.
[39:49] Speaker 2: Something moved to charity with high.
[39:51] Speaker 1: I don't believe in any of this bullshit. I don't
[39:53] Speaker 1: even believe. I don't even believe in the John Lennon
[39:54] Speaker 1: song about what you don't believe in.
[39:57] Speaker 2: First of all, this is the most talk of heterosexual
[40:00] Speaker 2: men we've ever had on this podcast.
[40:02] Speaker 1: This is sorry I do. I basically do drag as unattractive. No,
[40:10] Speaker 1: Maren's hot, Maron's hot, okay, but generally either grumpy or unattractive. Man.
[40:17] Speaker 2: Straight men are an underrepresented group on this show, and
[40:21] Speaker 2: so it is nice to sometimes talk about them.
[40:24] Speaker 1: I get locked in because I don't know, I can't.
[40:26] Speaker 1: I have to do the voices.
[40:28] Speaker 2: You do the voices, and you do them. Well, okay,
[40:31] Speaker 2: here's the last one. Elon Musk sells his thirty million
[40:36] Speaker 2: dollar mansion because he says it's creepy.
[40:40] Speaker 1: Well, obviously, I lived in bel Air for quite a while,
[40:46] Speaker 1: and my god lived in bel Air for quite a while.
[40:50] Speaker 1: And I was trying to solve humanity by getting us
[40:56] Speaker 1: to Mars, because you know, sitting in traffic to who
[41:00] Speaker 1: long to get to sant Monica or long Leach or something,
[41:03] Speaker 1: And so I thought, well, why not just get there faster?
[41:08] Speaker 1: And while we're doing that, why not make it any
[41:10] Speaker 1: longer journey. So let's get to Mars. Well, I started
[41:15] Speaker 1: to see these terrible visions of blood.
[41:21] Speaker 2: And that feels normal.
[41:23] Speaker 1: I realized that that was what I was aiming for,
[41:26] Speaker 1: Like AD asked for a per sanguinem, you know, to
[41:30] Speaker 1: the stars to blood that I wanted to have, like
[41:34] Speaker 1: a lot of people die, similar to other great works
[41:39] Speaker 1: of ancient kings, you know Ozumandias or the Pharaohs of Egypt, Like,
[41:43] Speaker 1: you're not going to build a pyramid without a certain
[41:45] Speaker 1: number of people being buried alive. And I thought, what
[41:48] Speaker 1: a greater monument than Mars. And that's when the hallucinations started,
[41:52] Speaker 1: the ghosts appearances, where I saw these terrifying ghosts of
[41:58] Speaker 1: these creatures that didn't want me to accomplish my plans.
[42:01] Speaker 1: And they would be like, oh, we're like, we actually
[42:04] Speaker 1: like Earth and we don't want you building a platform
[42:09] Speaker 1: to the stars over our bodies and the bodies of
[42:12] Speaker 1: our children. And so that's when I decided to tunnel
[42:17] Speaker 1: deeply with my my special tubes. It's tunnel so I
[42:22] Speaker 1: didn't have to see the ghosts, but it just got
[42:24] Speaker 1: me closer to Hell and different kinds of dements. So
[42:27] Speaker 1: even pretty pretty cool, pretty like l cool.
[42:30] Speaker 2: God, he's so cool and so funny.
[42:33] Speaker 1: I'm like really cool.
[42:33] Speaker 2: Lots of children, he's like the coolest guy, like of.
[42:37] Speaker 1: My many children were or we'll even read my Christmas
[42:41] Speaker 1: cards when I said them.
[42:43] Speaker 2: So who was that podcast? Called full sand podcast?
[42:47] Speaker 1: And right on miss clip promoting dangerous conspiracy there pretty
[42:54] Speaker 1: obviously like normal.
[42:56] Speaker 2: He says that, yeah, has forty seven acre home er Land.
[43:01] Speaker 2: The house that was on forty seven acres, he said
[43:05] Speaker 2: that he would hear a lot of noises and you know,
[43:08] Speaker 2: doors open sometimes, but he kind of doesn't believe that
[43:11] Speaker 2: in ghosts.
[43:12] Speaker 1: But right, someone tried to someone tried to make me
[43:16] Speaker 1: believe that. Oh no, there was an explanation for it.
[43:19] Speaker 1: That there were like younger guys that were like opening
[43:23] Speaker 1: doors and bringing their girlfriends in or like having sex
[43:28] Speaker 1: with some girlfriend or wife that I was with at
[43:31] Speaker 1: the time, and there would like farcical like opening of
[43:35] Speaker 1: closing of doors and stuff, and that I never saw them.
[43:38] Speaker 1: But that's obviously not an explanation. It had to be ghosts.
[43:40] Speaker 2: It was probably the kids. There's probably so many kids.
[43:43] Speaker 2: He forgets how many kids there are in the house.
[43:46] Speaker 1: There are at any one time, like twenty three or
[43:49] Speaker 1: maybe even like twenty five kids, and hard to keep
[43:54] Speaker 1: track because sometimes they slip in and out of existence
[43:57] Speaker 1: because of my various experiments with dimensionality. So that was
[44:03] Speaker 1: that you did it so right, And so looking forward
[44:08] Speaker 1: to going to suplim places like Mars where if there's
[44:12] Speaker 1: a ghost. We will actually like merge with the ghost
[44:15] Speaker 1: and become sort of like like a half ghost, half human,
[44:21] Speaker 1: hybrid species, half alien and looking forward to this just
[44:25] Speaker 1: to be able to go through rocks so I won't
[44:27] Speaker 1: have the tunnel anymore with my tubes, my magnetic shoes,
[44:31] Speaker 1: and these are ghosts. Also that conveniently, the ghosts I see,
[44:37] Speaker 1: I've programmed them into Tesla's. If you notice when there's
[44:39] Speaker 1: a little people on the sidewalks when you're driving a
[44:42] Speaker 1: Tesla or in the back of a Tesla or something,
[44:44] Speaker 1: that there's like people on the sidewalks that kind of
[44:47] Speaker 1: disappear just as you're about to run into them, that's
[44:50] Speaker 1: the kinds of ghost I see. I see human beings
[44:52] Speaker 1: as ghosts. It's a lot like the Chamalon film, except
[44:58] Speaker 1: for me. I don't see dead people. I just simply
[45:01] Speaker 1: don't see living people. Instead of them, I see like
[45:04] Speaker 1: ghosts of stalks that are that are you know? There
[45:08] Speaker 1: there as an advisory in my warning panel on the Tesla,
[45:12] Speaker 1: like not to avoid them, but just to let you
[45:14] Speaker 1: know that if you should desire to, there's someone you
[45:17] Speaker 1: can run over that way.
[45:18] Speaker 2: I'm not even kidding you. People do upload to TikTok
[45:23] Speaker 2: them driving their Teslas through cemeteries and spooky places, and
[45:27] Speaker 2: there's it picks up humans on that thing, right, it's
[45:31] Speaker 2: it's that, aren't there.
[45:33] Speaker 1: The Tesla automobiles is designed to pick up lots of
[45:36] Speaker 1: false signals.
[45:38] Speaker 2: Sounds safe.
[45:39] Speaker 1: There are dogs that the Tesla would be like alert, alert,
[45:43] Speaker 1: like this is the President of the United States, this
[45:46] Speaker 1: is a great visiting foreign dignitary, what have you. And
[45:49] Speaker 1: then sometimes there would be like, for example, Tesla's don't
[45:52] Speaker 1: see nuns nuns if they're wearing the habits of Catholic nun.
[45:57] Speaker 1: The Tesla just simply doesn't pick it up because of
[45:59] Speaker 1: the black and white interference. So they're in danger. And
[46:02] Speaker 1: I think in the future we're going to have to
[46:04] Speaker 1: put them in underground shuttles or simply ship from Baltimor.
[46:08] Speaker 2: And that is sister Act three. The plot. James, let's
[46:17] Speaker 2: do something untoward, let's do something a little spooky. And
[46:23] Speaker 2: by the way, thank you for that segment. That was amazing,
[46:26] Speaker 2: Thank you incredible.
[46:27] Speaker 1: There's less, there's less of that where that came from.
[46:30] Speaker 2: You can see James live, do you know right now?
[46:34] Speaker 2: Give them a couple of dates.
[46:36] Speaker 1: Yes, jamesdomain dot com and my link tree, and I
[46:38] Speaker 1: try to post these on social media. I'm gonna be
[46:40] Speaker 1: in Arlington, Virginia at the Arlington Draft House this month
[46:44] Speaker 1: in December, and then in early January, I'm going to
[46:47] Speaker 1: be at Good Nights in Raleigh, North Carolina.
[46:49] Speaker 2: Oh, I'm mightna be there in November.
[46:50] Speaker 1: It's beautiful, right, I just was there there.
[46:53] Speaker 2: We do record this early, people know that.
[46:55] Speaker 1: And then I'm going to be at hel You in Portland.
[46:58] Speaker 2: I'm going to be there in December.
[47:01] Speaker 1: So I'm there in early January. So there we go.
[47:03] Speaker 1: We're on the same track. Oh my god, we're in
[47:06] Speaker 1: the circuit and there's other dates and stuff coming together.
[47:09] Speaker 1: And you can so James adomain dot com or my
[47:12] Speaker 1: link tree which is Jadomian just like my Instagram.
[47:15] Speaker 2: Love it.
[47:17] Speaker 1: Uh.
[47:17] Speaker 2: Can I show you a haunted doll? Yes, okay, it's
[47:21] Speaker 2: time for a segment I call the dolls are Living.
[47:27] Speaker 2: So what I do is I go to eBay dot com.
[47:30] Speaker 2: I look up haunted dolls. There's always thousands of haunted
[47:34] Speaker 2: dolls being sold and sort of the idea is usually
[47:39] Speaker 2: a living person died and somehow ends up in a
[47:42] Speaker 2: haunted doll that is now being sold on eBay. That's
[47:45] Speaker 2: the story that these people go with. They come with backstories,
[47:49] Speaker 2: and today we have one that doesn't necessarily look scary,
[47:53] Speaker 2: but it has a backstory to it. This is a
[47:56] Speaker 2: doll named Lil Choppy, Little Choppy. Lil Choppy, Little Choppy,
[48:02] Speaker 2: and Lil Choppy is going for thirty four dollars and
[48:05] Speaker 2: ninety nine cents. Geehash show was Lil Choppy? Please you
[48:10] Speaker 2: got it?
[48:10] Speaker 1: Rose three dollars ninety nine cents.
[48:12] Speaker 2: Nope, thirty four dollars thirty four So it's basically a
[48:15] Speaker 2: little Chihuahua beanie baby looking thing.
[48:19] Speaker 1: I know this one though. It has batteries and it
[48:21] Speaker 1: barks and moves. I bet if it's the one yep,
[48:24] Speaker 1: I can see I've had one of these before. Oh
[48:27] Speaker 1: it has a video well similar, it's similar to the
[48:29] Speaker 1: one I had? Yes, okay, does he bark? Well not?
[48:34] Speaker 2: This one probably just puts curses on you because Lil
[48:38] Speaker 2: Choppy is spooky, honey.
[48:41] Speaker 1: The one I had, I actually gave it away. It's
[48:43] Speaker 1: a little slightly different than this, but I gave it
[48:45] Speaker 1: to an ex boyfriend as a joke gift. That was like, uh,
[48:48] Speaker 1: there was like, hey, this is you this.
[48:51] Speaker 2: Did you put a spirit inside? Oh?
[48:53] Speaker 1: I didn't do anything like that. It was just like
[48:54] Speaker 1: this is a joke, like, hey, this is in case
[48:57] Speaker 1: you're wondering, this is this is like how uh this
[49:00] Speaker 1: is how you are to me.
[49:01] Speaker 2: Sometimes well it says, uh, this is Lil Choppy and
[49:09] Speaker 2: she is one of the sweetest and funniest dolls I've
[49:13] Speaker 2: ever encountered. Okay, so it's not that spooky. It's a
[49:16] Speaker 2: it's a sweet one. She's kept safe and clean by
[49:20] Speaker 2: a spirit keeper.
[49:22] Speaker 1: Now that that's you. You the owner put that into it.
[49:26] Speaker 2: Yes, uh, since they already had many good encounters with her,
[49:30] Speaker 2: they wanted to pass it on to someone with good vibes.
[49:34] Speaker 2: Now wait a minute, now they change the pronouns because
[49:37] Speaker 2: it says he was a comedian who loved improv and
[49:43] Speaker 2: making people laugh. So there's an there's an old Dell close,
[49:48] Speaker 2: there's an old Second City or cast member.
[49:52] Speaker 1: Oh it's John Candy. Oh you know you know what.
[49:57] Speaker 1: They're very interesting breed.
[50:02] Speaker 2: He died of a rare illness. There's always a little
[50:03] Speaker 2: bit of a sad the always gotta tell you did
[50:06] Speaker 2: that Little Choppy died of a rare illness. Didn't tell
[50:10] Speaker 2: me when he was sick. Okay. His life's mission is
[50:12] Speaker 2: to be there for you, make you feel better and
[50:14] Speaker 2: give you more abundant life.
[50:16] Speaker 1: He sounds sweet.
[50:17] Speaker 2: He loves children and animals, safe to keep in a
[50:21] Speaker 2: house and keep inside of the house.
[50:24] Speaker 1: I'm a mog, half man, half dog. I'm my own
[50:27] Speaker 1: best friend.
[50:28] Speaker 2: Oh my god. And he'll bring joy and good luck
[50:32] Speaker 2: to you. He will be sweet and welcoming to those
[50:35] Speaker 2: who come into your environment.
[50:37] Speaker 1: Also, he can sell shower curtain rings. He could be
[50:43] Speaker 1: an annoying travel companion, but you grow to love him.
[50:46] Speaker 2: Oh my god, John Candy, I listen. It very well
[50:51] Speaker 2: could be. And now he's reinvented himself as Lil Choppy.
[50:56] Speaker 2: And it says he's an encouraging schore. No, he's an
[51:00] Speaker 2: encouraging spirit that will say positive affirmations and jokes to you,
[51:05] Speaker 2: and he will provide sweet dreams while you sleep. So
[51:10] Speaker 2: that's a little choppy. Thirty four dollars and ninety.
[51:12] Speaker 1: Mins, jumpy. I admire your body of work.
[51:16] Speaker 2: Okay, let's do one last thing here. Can I play
[51:19] Speaker 2: you some ghost voices?
[51:21] Speaker 1: Yes?
[51:21] Speaker 2: Oh, finally someone else doing voices it's time for EVP
[51:29] Speaker 2: or ev please EVPs electronic voice phenomena. It's when people
[51:37] Speaker 2: believe they've captured a ghost speaking they record it. Yeah. Yeah,
[51:41] Speaker 2: So what I do is I go to eat to
[51:43] Speaker 2: YouTube and I find two EVPs, and I'm gonna play
[51:47] Speaker 2: it for you. You tell me you're you're you're really an
[51:51] Speaker 2: expert in the world of voices. I have a feeling
[51:54] Speaker 2: that you're gonna be able to listen and pick out
[51:57] Speaker 2: what we're here in here. Uh, you know, it's funny
[52:00] Speaker 2: sometimes they have like you'll watch like a documentary about
[52:03] Speaker 2: this stuff, and they'll have like a recording engineer expert
[52:07] Speaker 2: that is listening and decides, oh, this is a real
[52:11] Speaker 2: human speaking or whatever. I'm curious what you might think.
[52:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, you get all these self declared experts. Somebody who's like, oh,
[52:18] Speaker 1: you got designated as a credentialed professional witness by the
[52:23] Speaker 1: local county court. Save your credentials. I'm not interested. As
[52:29] Speaker 1: Bruce Lee said, your black belt is only used good
[52:33] Speaker 1: for holding up your pants. I want to speak to
[52:37] Speaker 1: me like I'm a full citizens. I want to judge
[52:40] Speaker 1: on the evidence alone.
[52:41] Speaker 2: This will be interesting. This was posted by Razor Baby one.
[52:46] Speaker 1: On you two Razor Baby, and.
[52:49] Speaker 2: It's from the Metro Area Paranormal Society also known as MAPS,
[52:54] Speaker 2: and they are in Omaha, Nebraska. And this is a
[52:58] Speaker 2: business that was in the area of Dundee, Nebraska. I
[53:02] Speaker 2: don't know what the business was called. But they did
[53:04] Speaker 2: a ghost hunt there. And what did this ghost say?
[53:12] Speaker 2: It's a real soft whisper. Let me play it again.
[53:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an Omaha right, Yeah, yeah, it's hey.
[53:26] Speaker 2: It's just they're saying, hey, hey, I mean that's very
[53:35] Speaker 2: well could be.
[53:36] Speaker 1: I think the ghost is talking to another ghost, going hey,
[53:39] Speaker 1: watch out, this guy's going to discover us.
[53:43] Speaker 2: Honestly, I heard that, So that's not what they thought. Necessarily,
[53:50] Speaker 2: I'm going to give you a B, C D. And
[53:53] Speaker 2: it was one of these that they believe it said.
[53:55] Speaker 2: Did they think it was a you are? I think
[54:01] Speaker 2: what I didn't.
[54:02] Speaker 1: I'd have to isolate the audio and bump it up
[54:04] Speaker 1: and well enhance, isolated, enhance.
[54:09] Speaker 2: This is this is isolated at a hag.
[54:11] Speaker 1: I can't I don't hear that.
[54:13] Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, well they think it was B there's no
[54:17] Speaker 2: way you're here. Did they think it was C get
[54:22] Speaker 2: away from us? Or d oh? You make me nuts.
[54:30] Speaker 1: They thought it was get away from us. That's what
[54:33] Speaker 1: I said.
[54:33] Speaker 2: That is exactly what they thought. Now that we know
[54:36] Speaker 2: that was.
[54:36] Speaker 1: It was there. It's a negative mindset, you know, you
[54:39] Speaker 1: just got to embrace the voice. Get away from us.
[54:45] Speaker 2: I hear it, I hear it.
[54:48] Speaker 1: I think it's just hey, it could be.
[54:52] Speaker 2: Now here's one more from the same group. This time
[54:55] Speaker 2: it was at a local cemetery in Omaha. What does
[55:00] Speaker 2: this one say? It's a little different sounding.
[55:06] Speaker 1: That's scary.
[55:07] Speaker 2: Let me play it again?
[55:12] Speaker 1: Can I hear over time? Nobody wants to play with me.
[55:23] Speaker 1: It's not play, it's some other word.
[55:25] Speaker 2: But it's definitely that.
[55:27] Speaker 1: With me.
[55:29] Speaker 2: Definitely that vibe with me. Did they think it was
[55:33] Speaker 2: a please, will you buy some snacks? B? These are
[55:39] Speaker 2: the sheep God wants next? See we need to see
[55:45] Speaker 2: you here? Or D three to the three to the four,
[55:50] Speaker 2: five six?
[55:52] Speaker 1: Can I hear it again? It's number three? What was that.
[56:00] Speaker 2: You need to see you here?
[56:01] Speaker 1: We need to see you here. I think that's what
[56:04] Speaker 1: they think the voice said.
[56:05] Speaker 2: They think it's be These are the sheep God wants next.
[56:10] Speaker 1: It's too there's too much information you're loading into it.
[56:14] Speaker 1: That's that's reading between the sounds.
[56:17] Speaker 2: But now that we know that, let's let's listen for
[56:19] Speaker 2: these are the sheep God wants next?
[56:25] Speaker 1: I hear it, no, because it's like a. It's a.
[56:28] Speaker 1: It's a. There is a softer intention if there was
[56:33] Speaker 1: a if there was a declaration like that, it would
[56:36] Speaker 1: be more pronounced. There was a softer intention. Like it
[56:39] Speaker 1: sounds to me like if that that voice, whether it's
[56:42] Speaker 1: a ghost or a human or whatever, it sounds like
[56:45] Speaker 1: it's lamenting, like it's complaining, like it's self pitying. Yeah,
[56:49] Speaker 1: nobody wants to see me or whatever, something that doesn't
[56:52] Speaker 1: want me not maybe maybe maybe that's it.
[56:55] Speaker 2: Oh, James, real quick, I'm curious your your thoughts on
[57:02] Speaker 2: a couple of things. What do you think about what
[57:06] Speaker 2: do you think about ghosts?
[57:10] Speaker 1: It's a Martin short. Yes, Jimmy Glick, what do you
[57:14] Speaker 1: thoughts of ghosts?
[57:15] Speaker 2: Exactly? That's my favorite character of all time. Yeah, I
[57:18] Speaker 2: love Jimminy Glick. What what are your thoughts on aliens?
[57:24] Speaker 1: Sure they seem like they're out there, you know, the
[57:27] Speaker 1: of course, the the Fermi paradox.
[57:30] Speaker 2: What's the Fermi paradox.
[57:33] Speaker 1: It's named after an Italian astrophysicist. I believe. Uh if
[57:38] Speaker 1: is it Frederico Fermi or Enrico Fermi? I forget, but
[57:41] Speaker 1: it's doctor Fermie from the.
[57:43] Speaker 2: Nineteen If he's an Italian man, he's Fermi.
[57:48] Speaker 1: He was sort of he was one of the people
[57:50] Speaker 1: on the Manhattan Project and he had developed this what
[57:55] Speaker 1: do you call it axiom, which is a sort of
[57:59] Speaker 1: a statement other people to investigate. It's not quite a theory,
[58:03] Speaker 1: it's a statement to be investigated. Where he was saying,
[58:06] Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it wrong, and there's several layers to it.
[58:08] Speaker 1: It's like number one, number two, there's a list of
[58:10] Speaker 1: things where he's like, the observable universe is so vast
[58:15] Speaker 1: that there must have evolved aliens on other and other
[58:19] Speaker 1: star systems. However we have had no contact with them
[58:23] Speaker 1: and no knowledge of them here, so there has to
[58:26] Speaker 1: be He tried to narrow down all the possible solutions
[58:29] Speaker 1: for why, given the chance of infinite evolutions over billions
[58:33] Speaker 1: of years, why we don't see them all the time
[58:36] Speaker 1: or have no knowledge of them, And that he has
[58:38] Speaker 1: he lays out the possible answers, which is, we have
[58:43] Speaker 1: seen them, but we forgot them. We have seen them
[58:47] Speaker 1: and it's embedded in our you know, ancient stone engravings
[58:52] Speaker 1: or uh there. It ranges up to possibilities such that
[58:56] Speaker 1: the nature of life evolving on a planet is such
[58:59] Speaker 1: that it only lacks for about a billion years before
[59:02] Speaker 1: it makes itself extinct, so that no civilization ever has
[59:05] Speaker 1: time to reach out right. He also says there's a
[59:08] Speaker 1: possibility that they have made contact with us, but they
[59:11] Speaker 1: hide from us, or they blend in with us, or
[59:14] Speaker 1: they don't want to contact us because they're not interested
[59:17] Speaker 1: in us, Like we're just like some idiots that they
[59:20] Speaker 1: don't care about.
[59:20] Speaker 2: What I think. I genuinely think that we are the
[59:23] Speaker 2: bad neighborhood in the galaxy that they're like where, let's
[59:27] Speaker 2: not go over there. This all the stuff that you're
[59:29] Speaker 2: saying that I have heard about this, but I've never
[59:33] Speaker 2: gotten into it too much because that stuff freaks me out,
[59:36] Speaker 2: like gives me some kind of like anxiety.
[59:39] Speaker 1: The best fictional rendering I've seen, I don't. I am
[59:44] Speaker 1: again agnostic. I don't deny what people claim to have
[59:47] Speaker 1: seen unless there's somebody's gonna put me on a jury.
[59:49] Speaker 1: You know, I don't have to make a decision, but
[59:53] Speaker 1: I'm more interested in like the the future theory of
[59:57] Speaker 1: aliens than I am about like individuals sightings of them.
[1:00:01] Speaker 1: The best fiction I've seen recently science fiction exploring this
[1:00:06] Speaker 1: idea is the Three Body Problem series by Shishin Lu,
[1:00:10] Speaker 1: the Chinese science fiction writer. It's an attempt at a
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: very realistic scenario of aliens as close as they could
[1:00:18] Speaker 1: possibly be and be able to get to us, and
[1:00:21] Speaker 1: they're hostile, but it takes so long for them to
[1:00:24] Speaker 1: get to us that we have hundreds of years knowing
[1:00:28] Speaker 1: that they're coming. Oh, it's a very interesting trilogy of books.
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: Okay, let's just do Let's do two more that. I'm
[1:00:40] Speaker 2: curious about your thoughts on bigfoot.
[1:00:42] Speaker 1: Uh, okay, this is going to be good boring to people.
[1:00:45] Speaker 1: But you can't rule it out some sure ancient hominin
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: species that didn't go extinct in the hills and forests
[1:00:51] Speaker 1: of remote parts of the world. Very unlikely, definitely explainable.
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: You can't rule it out very unlikely. You could probably
[1:00:58] Speaker 1: usually explain it from deliberate hoaxes or somebody saw a
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: moose I saw I'm serious, on two legs, I saw
[1:01:05] Speaker 1: a moose at dusk either like right, around sunset or
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: just after the sun had set. My brother and I
[1:01:11] Speaker 1: saw a moose in what's the big National park in Wyoming, Montana?
[1:01:17] Speaker 2: Is that Yosemite?
[1:01:18] Speaker 1: No, the big one Yellowstone. Yell we were in was like,
[1:01:23] Speaker 1: he doesn't even know what he's talking about. He doesn't
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: even know he can't even listen to this guy. No,
[1:01:28] Speaker 1: we were in Yellowstone and we saw we saw this
[1:01:31] Speaker 1: giant figure walk out of the trees and stop and
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: kind of look at us, and you only see the
[1:01:38] Speaker 1: front two feet because it's the rest of its hiding
[1:01:42] Speaker 1: in the trees. And then you realize, oh, and it
[1:01:45] Speaker 1: took us a minute to be like, what the fuck, Oh,
[1:01:48] Speaker 1: it's a moose. It was a female moose without the antler.
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: Gee, how to make sure you cut the second part
[1:01:53] Speaker 2: when we realized it was a moose. No, but that's uh.
[1:01:58] Speaker 2: That probably does happen all the time to people because
[1:02:01] Speaker 2: you see it like the black fur, and you're like.
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: Be a bear, could be a bear. Moose are huge.
[1:02:07] Speaker 1: People don't realize how big they are.
[1:02:08] Speaker 2: Well, especially if you're seeing like those big huge horns
[1:02:11] Speaker 2: and you're not processing that that's not like the head
[1:02:14] Speaker 2: or something. You're just like all I see is a
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: big creature. Yeah, how fascinating.
[1:02:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was a female moose, so there was
[1:02:20] Speaker 1: no antlers, so it kind of just looked like a
[1:02:22] Speaker 1: big floppy person walked out of the trees and just
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: stopped there. Wow. And when we realized we were both
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: talking about it, we were like, that would that what
[1:02:30] Speaker 1: we just saw would easily be confused for a bigfoot.
[1:02:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just a big floppy lady moose.
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, you wonder like, Okay, the Neanderthals went extinct forty
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: thousand years ago, they say, and the other adjacent human
[1:02:46] Speaker 1: species to Homo sapiens around the world. I forget what
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: the other ones are called, but the Neanderthals are the
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: ones I know from Eurasia. I guess. Okay, so they
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: went extinct or did they? We know that some of
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: them that some people have up to, like you know
[1:03:01] Speaker 1: a small percentage of their DNAs, like some of the
[1:03:05] Speaker 1: Neanderthals intermarried.
[1:03:07] Speaker 2: With some more than others.
[1:03:09] Speaker 1: The Homo sapiens. Yeah, so yeah, sure, okay, Right, have
[1:03:13] Speaker 1: we explored every cave? I don't know, we know we haven't.
[1:03:16] Speaker 2: But this is where things get interesting.
[1:03:19] Speaker 1: For me, is it's a long time to stay off
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: the grid, though, forty thousand years commitment.
[1:03:25] Speaker 2: If you are to believe that in the possibility of ghosts,
[1:03:29] Speaker 2: I'm just people in general, not just see you specifically.
[1:03:32] Speaker 2: And you know that there were these other versions of
[1:03:36] Speaker 2: humans that once existed. Could it be a ghost version
[1:03:40] Speaker 2: of them that sometimes people see and that's why we
[1:03:45] Speaker 2: can never catch the Bigfoot?
[1:03:47] Speaker 1: Wow, you're telling me that Bigfoot isn't real and that
[1:03:50] Speaker 1: that's the key to the whole solution.
[1:03:52] Speaker 2: I think Bigfoot's a ghost because people would have caught
[1:03:55] Speaker 2: it by now.
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: You grab it and it disappears.
[1:03:57] Speaker 2: Yes, if it was you, you'd run up.
[1:04:00] Speaker 1: Get out of here. I know that's how you get
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: killed by a moose.
[1:04:06] Speaker 2: I saw bears one time outside of LA I thought.
[1:04:10] Speaker 1: He was trying to hurt me. By the way, Yeah,
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: when I say moose, it was Bullwinkle from Rocky and Bullwinkle. No,
[1:04:19] Speaker 1: they're just driving through Yellowstone. Don't murder that man. But
[1:04:25] Speaker 1: it was dusk and he came up to try stuff.
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: No. I saw three bears, not the gay kind.
[1:04:34] Speaker 1: Sure.
[1:04:35] Speaker 2: One time outside of LA I was in claire Monts.
[1:04:39] Speaker 1: Were you breaking into bears cabins and like trying their
[1:04:42] Speaker 1: porridge and stuff.
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: There were three of them. One of it was a
[1:04:46] Speaker 2: little too hot, one was too cold. No, there was
[1:04:50] Speaker 2: I was leaving an event and the cars were all
[1:04:54] Speaker 2: stopped leaving this parking lot, and I'm like, what's going on?
[1:04:57] Speaker 3: Hurry?
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: Yes, And then when we finally moved and got closer,
[1:05:00] Speaker 2: we realized it was three bears in Claremont. In Claremont, California.
[1:05:05] Speaker 1: I am near the Pomona Colleges. I suppose I.
[1:05:07] Speaker 2: Suppose, so, okay, last one past lives.
[1:05:12] Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I think this is a legitimate philosophical or
[1:05:15] Speaker 1: religious belief. And I don't even think it's something kind
[1:05:18] Speaker 1: of paranormal that needs to be doubted at all. Really,
[1:05:20] Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's the makes the most
[1:05:22] Speaker 1: sense as an explanation for everything. Well, okay, one version
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: of it that I think is a very clean explanation
[1:05:29] Speaker 1: for all life on Earth is what the way Alan
[1:05:33] Speaker 1: Watts summarizes a lot of what he talks about, where
[1:05:37] Speaker 1: you are something the whole universe is doing in the
[1:05:40] Speaker 1: same way that a wave is something that the whole
[1:05:43] Speaker 1: ocean is doing. So he says that you know, individual
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: living things are just sort of outcroppings of powerful consciousness,
[1:05:52] Speaker 1: like one living thing that experiences itself as separate living
[1:05:56] Speaker 1: things and very similar to that to it or you know,
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: sure different Wikipedia pages. But I do believe in past lives,
[1:06:08] Speaker 1: and I believe that they're not limited to human beings,
[1:06:11] Speaker 1: and I think I lean towards the possible idea that
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: I don't know the details of how it works, but
[1:06:21] Speaker 1: I have actually gotten into the nerdy side of this,
[1:06:23] Speaker 1: where there's like you know, Christian theologians and also atheists
[1:06:27] Speaker 1: that try to take apart reincarnation and be like, well,
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: the population keeps growing, where are these souls coming from?
[1:06:34] Speaker 1: Where are these minds coming from? And it's like, yeah,
[1:06:36] Speaker 1: but there are you counting all the extinct creatures. And
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: I think it's very possible that we are one thing
[1:06:45] Speaker 1: that has to live through being every other, every possible
[1:06:49] Speaker 1: living thing on the planet, and that that's how a deity,
[1:06:54] Speaker 1: an eternal being or a semi eternal being like the
[1:06:58] Speaker 1: Earth or the Sun, passes the time because it's fucking
[1:07:02] Speaker 1: boring to live forever.
[1:07:05] Speaker 2: So that it's like fun for them to yes.
[1:07:08] Speaker 1: That you have to create something alive or you're just
[1:07:10] Speaker 1: out there gurgling in space. Interest and it would be
[1:07:15] Speaker 1: so boring, it would be torture, so that they create
[1:07:18] Speaker 1: this life thing just to exist.
[1:07:21] Speaker 2: I guess I did not realize that you.
[1:07:24] Speaker 1: That's what I actually believe.
[1:07:26] Speaker 2: I didn't realize, like when I had you come on here,
[1:07:29] Speaker 2: that you have like read up on all this stuff
[1:07:33] Speaker 2: and you have like you know so much about this.
[1:07:35] Speaker 1: Well, some things I do and some things I bullshit
[1:07:38] Speaker 1: very quickly. I'll leave it to your listeners to decide.
[1:07:43] Speaker 2: No, that's great, this is great. This is a great
[1:07:45] Speaker 2: way to end, because now my mind is thinking about
[1:07:48] Speaker 2: a lot of things you've just said.
[1:07:50] Speaker 1: I've summarized a lot of it very quickly. Yeah, there's
[1:07:53] Speaker 1: the mechanics of how that works. You know, you might
[1:07:57] Speaker 1: have like a short cycle where there's one sort of
[1:08:00] Speaker 1: like spirit or consciousness that's being reincarnated on a short cycle.
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: But then then overall there's these larger cycles where we
[1:08:09] Speaker 1: might we might I can't say it for sure, we
[1:08:11] Speaker 1: might all just be the same thing.
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm very convinced of it too, because of
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: stories I've heard, like even on this show, where it's
[1:08:19] Speaker 2: like I can't think of any specific ones right now,
[1:08:23] Speaker 2: but just this idea which by the way makes me
[1:08:26] Speaker 2: not fear death anymore, because I'm like, oh, I think
[1:08:29] Speaker 2: we just like we figure it out, we go somewhere,
[1:08:32] Speaker 2: we do it again. I don't I don't know. Again,
[1:08:34] Speaker 2: I don't know how it works either. But it's like
[1:08:36] Speaker 2: it seems.
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: You obviously don't remember it. That's that's one of the
[1:08:40] Speaker 1: things about splitting up your life into other lives is
[1:08:44] Speaker 1: that you don't remember.
[1:08:44] Speaker 2: But it seems like there are sometimes blips or I
[1:08:47] Speaker 2: don't know how to explain that when people say, you know,
[1:08:51] Speaker 2: for example, we just covered this true story of this
[1:08:55] Speaker 2: little boy that knew all this very specific information about
[1:08:59] Speaker 2: being a man in Hollywood in the golden age of Hollywood.
[1:09:03] Speaker 1: And then they looked at it.
[1:09:05] Speaker 2: Yes, and they looked it up and it was not
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: a famous man or whatever. They find all the details
[1:09:09] Speaker 2: they knew what stready lived. This kid knew everything. And
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: it's like, I don't know how that works. Where sometimes
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: it's like, oh, whoops, I remember too much, Like I
[1:09:17] Speaker 2: don't know how.
[1:09:18] Speaker 1: I mean, arguably, Okay, maybe you picked up a weird
[1:09:21] Speaker 1: journal that you found in a library.
[1:09:23] Speaker 2: Oh, come on, that could be too Yeah, maybe you
[1:09:26] Speaker 2: found a diary somewhere, but.
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: Kids are clever.
[1:09:30] Speaker 2: I know it's it's weird. No, this was when he
[1:09:33] Speaker 2: was like four or five. I think anyway, young clever. Well,
[1:09:39] Speaker 2: you're very clever, and I want people to see you
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: live and to see your special.
[1:09:45] Speaker 1: Yes, it's all available. And what we were rounding out
[1:09:48] Speaker 1: the end of the year, the holiday season. What better
[1:09:50] Speaker 1: time to gather around with your loved ones, your adult
[1:09:55] Speaker 1: loved ones who enjoy ribled late night adult comedy and
[1:10:00] Speaker 1: watch the Path of Most Resistance. Well, it's actually just
[1:10:03] Speaker 1: Path of Most Resistance, my debut stand up comedy special.
[1:10:08] Speaker 1: It's on eight hundred Pound Gorilla. It's available on their
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: website and a number of platforms. It's most prominently available
[1:10:14] Speaker 1: on YouTube. You can pan downloaded on eight hundred pound
[1:10:17] Speaker 1: Gorilla dot com. You can watch it and stream it
[1:10:19] Speaker 1: for YouTube for free, and it's widely available. It's funny
[1:10:25] Speaker 1: at times and at other times it's it's wet. It's
[1:10:30] Speaker 1: very wet. If you'll notice, I really sweat out through
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: the whole show because it was September in Los Angeles,
[1:10:39] Speaker 1: and I yeah, I'm a sweater, So yeah, don't expect
[1:10:43] Speaker 1: a dry, snappy, powdered this is I'm raw Okay, I'm
[1:10:48] Speaker 1: out there in the trenches.
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: This is what we need.
[1:10:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, I read and I put it in. I put
