[0:00] Speaker 1: For everybody here, can I do one final question before
[0:03] Speaker 1: we leave?
[0:05] Speaker 2: If you had to pick four stocks that are unrelated
[0:08] Speaker 2: to the AI trade, which four do you like? Let's
[0:12] Speaker 2: say for someone who may be a little bit more
[0:14] Speaker 2: seasoned or they're older and they may be afraid of
[0:17] Speaker 2: the technology. What are four non-related AI companies that you
[0:22] Speaker 2: would have them potentially lean on?
[0:24] Speaker 1: And maybe we can all answer the question.
[0:27] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[0:27] Speaker 4: I'll go first on that. I mean, I talked about
[0:29] Speaker 4: the oil sector. Now, I'm not a big investor in
[0:32] Speaker 4: the oil and energy sector, especially the drillers and the refiners.
[0:35] Speaker 4: I'm married to a conservation biologist. So we have some
[0:38] Speaker 4: rules around that. That said, you can't ignore the profits
[0:41] Speaker 4: and the fact that those profits are going to continue
[0:43] Speaker 4: to flow as long as we have this conflict going on.
[0:45] Speaker 4: And nobody thinks this is coming to an end anytime soon.
[0:49] Speaker 4: So find your way around the oil patch with a
[0:51] Speaker 4: high dividend rate. high cashflow company right now that's doing
[0:54] Speaker 4: very well and hopefully not destroying the planet in the process.
[0:58] Speaker 4: There's plenty of them out there. I was just looking
[0:59] Speaker 4: at the 52, the all-time highs. There's five energy companies
[1:03] Speaker 4: on there. And I shared the chart of the refiners.
[1:06] Speaker 4: Pick your refiner that has the most cashflow, right? And
[1:09] Speaker 4: the best profit margins. And I would say that would
[1:11] Speaker 4: be a good stock to buy. And there's plenty of
[1:13] Speaker 4: them on that list. Marathon, I know is on that
[1:14] Speaker 4: list and others. Also, I'm a believer that water is
[1:18] Speaker 4: going to be the next, I'm not, Super intelligent telling
[1:22] Speaker 4: you this, but water is going to be one of
[1:23] Speaker 4: the most precious resources out there because we're going to
[1:26] Speaker 4: need it for just about everything. And that means private
[1:28] Speaker 4: water companies and privatized water companies or the private equity
[1:33] Speaker 4: companies that own the private water companies, because I think
[1:36] Speaker 4: that's a precious commodity and that's only going to get
[1:38] Speaker 4: more expensive going down the line here. Then you look
[1:41] Speaker 4: across the financial sector and it's about being big, right?
[1:44] Speaker 4: Being big in banking is beautiful. Boring is good, too.
[1:48] Speaker 4: But the biggest, baddest, most profitable bank out there is
[1:52] Speaker 4: JPMorgan Chase. And there's a reason that stock kind of
[1:55] Speaker 4: was near all-time highs earlier this year. I expect it
[1:58] Speaker 4: to come back to those all-time highs when we get
[2:01] Speaker 4: some sort of a stasis with the economy right now.
[2:04] Speaker 4: And then looking like way outside out of all this,
[2:07] Speaker 4: sometimes you got to look at some companies that are
[2:09] Speaker 4: just doing something very different from the rest of the crowd.
[2:12] Speaker 4: And when I look at some of the retailers out there,
[2:16] Speaker 4: You know, it's a very tough time to be a
[2:18] Speaker 4: retailer in a retail environment. That said, there are some
[2:21] Speaker 4: of the grocery chains that are kind of bending the
[2:24] Speaker 4: business model a little bit that are interesting to look
[2:26] Speaker 4: at right now. I'd take a close look at those,
[2:28] Speaker 4: especially with the commodity prices. And then I would also
[2:31] Speaker 4: look at the commodity players as well. The Grangers of
[2:33] Speaker 4: the world, the ADMs of the world, they are dealing
[2:36] Speaker 4: with very high corn and high wheat prices, but they
[2:38] Speaker 4: also have pricing flexibility. That's been a tough sector to
[2:42] Speaker 4: invest in. Healthcare as well. but we're also on the
[2:44] Speaker 4: verge of a lot of new developments in healthcare that
[2:47] Speaker 4: are being spurred by these cancer drugs and GLP-1s. So
[2:50] Speaker 4: there's some healthcare and biotech companies out there that I
[2:52] Speaker 4: would keep a close eye on, and especially the ones,
[2:55] Speaker 4: not the GLP-1 makers, though that run already happened, but
[2:58] Speaker 4: what are the knock-on effects of GLP-1s going down the
[3:00] Speaker 4: line and who's going to benefit from that? I would
[3:03] Speaker 4: look at some of those companies in sectors that are
[3:07] Speaker 4: addressing this new marketplace. And that's kind of where I would,
[3:10] Speaker 4: you know, As a speculative bet right now, that's where
[3:13] Speaker 4: I'd be looking, outside of the air and tech build out.
[3:16] Speaker 1: That's a great answer. Thank you, my brother. That was detailed, man.
[3:20] Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you so much. Any last words you
[3:22] Speaker 3: want to leave with the audience?
[3:24] Speaker 4: Well, we're on Substack now. I started a new Substack.
[3:27] Speaker 4: It's called The Signal with Caleb Silver, and we have
[3:29] Speaker 4: one at Investopedia called Value Add. We're always trying to
[3:31] Speaker 4: find new ways to connect with our audiences. And then
[3:34] Speaker 4: I've been doing a lot of work. as the chief
[3:37] Speaker 4: business editor, people across our brands just launched a brand
[3:39] Speaker 4: new podcast called Mega Trends in Medicine, where we're looking
[3:43] Speaker 4: at big trends like GLP-1s and the ripple effects they have,
[3:46] Speaker 4: not just through the medical community, because this is for
[3:48] Speaker 4: health professionals, but down the line. So GLP-1s is a
[3:52] Speaker 4: great example. That's impacting everything from fashion to travel to
[3:56] Speaker 4: the way doctors operate. We're having a lot less surgeries
[3:59] Speaker 4: and knee surgeries and back surgeries, but it's also greatly
[4:02] Speaker 4: impacted the adult beverage market.
[4:04] Speaker 1: And the food market in general.
[4:05] Speaker 4: That's one of those things that just like, you know,
[4:08] Speaker 4: it starts here, but then the ripple effects end up
[4:11] Speaker 4: way down here and changes everything. So I'm watching that
[4:13] Speaker 4: sector really closely right now. We're going to do a
[4:15] Speaker 4: bunch of episodes on big trends like that called mega
[4:18] Speaker 4: trends and medicine.
[4:21] Speaker 1: I love it. Always amazing. Yes.
[4:25] Speaker 3: My brother. Thank you so much, man. Appreciate you.
[4:28] Speaker 4: Thank you guys for having me. I appreciate it. And you,
[4:33] Speaker 4: Peace out.
[4:34] Speaker 5: Damn, faded Caleb the Black like that, man? Come on up,
[4:37] Speaker 5: I got Caleb, yo. Hey, man, that's a friend of
[4:41] Speaker 5: the show, man. I feel like he's a quarterly contributor
[4:45] Speaker 5: to the show, man. Shout out to Caleb.
[4:46] Speaker 1: That's my guy. We need every three months to make sure.
[4:48] Speaker 2: And kudos to my guys from Indianapolis not kidnapping this year.
[4:51] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[4:51] Speaker 5: We appreciate y'all. We appreciate y'all.
[4:55] Speaker 2: All right, Shadi, can we get to conspiracy hour?
[5:00] Speaker 1: Yo, you know what?
[5:01] Speaker 5: We asked Caleb the question.
[5:02] Speaker 1: What's your.
[5:03] Speaker 5: What's your fourth, your four stocks outside of AI?
[5:05] Speaker 2: I actually have eight, if I can give.
[5:09] Speaker 1: Or should I give four and give the other ones
[5:11] Speaker 1: to you?
[5:11] Speaker 5: Give four, because I feel, it's such a tough question
[5:13] Speaker 5: when I look down the list, even in my watch list,
[5:15] Speaker 5: I'm like, damn, that's AI, that's AI, that's AI. Let's
[5:19] Speaker 5: do five. Let's call it five. Let's call it five,
[5:21] Speaker 5: because we might have repeats.
[5:23] Speaker 2: Let me start where Caleb picked, JP Morgan would be
[5:27] Speaker 2: number one in banking, for sure. I don't have to
[5:31] Speaker 2: tell why Jimmy Diamond greatest banking CEO of the last
[5:35] Speaker 2: 20 years.
[5:37] Speaker 1: That's an easy win. Number two, Chevron.
[5:42] Speaker 2: Despite the ills of the business, the profit margin is
[5:47] Speaker 2: absolutely amazing. AI, Jason or not, they're going to do
[5:50] Speaker 2: incredibly well. Number three, of course, my baby, Eli Lilly.
[5:55] Speaker 2: I think, I know Novo rebranded to just Novo instead
[5:58] Speaker 2: of Novo Nordisk, but when you look at the space,
[6:00] Speaker 2: They're going to do incredibly well for the next five
[6:02] Speaker 2: or six years.
[6:04] Speaker 1: Number four would be Caterpillar.
[6:05] Speaker 2: Regardless of the AI trade or not, Caterpillar is a
[6:09] Speaker 2: strong business and they're going to do incredibly well. And
[6:12] Speaker 2: they don't need the AI trade or investment to thrive.
[6:16] Speaker 2: And then lastly, Shell. Shell company or oil adjacent is
[6:22] Speaker 2: going to do incredibly well. And if the rates continue
[6:24] Speaker 2: to go up, regardless if we have a pullback or not,
[6:29] Speaker 2: Shell is one of these companies that continues to print
[6:31] Speaker 2: good margins, good profit. If you look at the drawdown,
[6:36] Speaker 2: most important thing, look at the drawdown of these over
[6:38] Speaker 2: the last six or seven years. They've been a lot
[6:40] Speaker 2: more stable than some of the tech components as well.
[6:44] Speaker 2: So I would do J.P. Morgan, Shell, Chevron, and Eli Lilly.
[6:49] Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
[6:50] Speaker 5: I know we're going to have repeats. I definitely had J.P.
[6:52] Speaker 5: at the top of the list. I had Lilly. I
[6:55] Speaker 5: had Costco. I think that's like one of the- Costco's underrated. Yeah,
[6:59] Speaker 5: it's like a market indicator.
[7:01] Speaker 1: I had Hood.
[7:02] Speaker 5: Now, are we counting Hood in AI? Because I had
[7:04] Speaker 5: Robin Hood.
[7:06] Speaker 1: It would be adjacent.
[7:08] Speaker 5: It's adjacent, but it's not really. I mean, it has components,
[7:12] Speaker 5: but it's really fintech, and it could be considered financials
[7:16] Speaker 5: as well. So I had Robin Hood, and then I
[7:20] Speaker 5: know it's been beaten down, and it's had a tough year,
[7:25] Speaker 5: but I still like Netflix. I still like it. So
[7:28] Speaker 5: I'm going to put them in there. I'm going to
[7:29] Speaker 5: put them in there.
[7:31] Speaker 1: Shadi, what about you?
[7:33] Speaker 3: Eli Lilly, JP Morgan, iBit. That's a stock.
[7:38] Speaker 1: Okay.
[7:38] Speaker 3: It's on a stock market.
[7:40] Speaker 1: Okay.
[7:42] Speaker 3: That, to me, was actually first.
[7:44] Speaker 1: iBit?
[7:45] Speaker 3: Yeah. If I had $ 10, 000 and I said, like, you
[7:50] Speaker 3: got to put money in a stock market on a
[7:52] Speaker 3: stock that's not AI, It would probably, it would be first.
[7:57] Speaker 3: That would be my first choice. Okay. That would be
[7:59] Speaker 3: the first thing I would do. And then Eli Lilly
[8:00] Speaker 3: would be the second thing that I would do.
[8:02] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[8:03] Speaker 3: And then like you said, J.P. Morgan, you can't go
[8:05] Speaker 3: wrong against that. And then, yeah, I mean, you got
[8:10] Speaker 3: to start, you got energy. You got to go energy sector.
[8:14] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[8:16] Speaker 1: AZ4. Everyone put in chat, less is more.
[8:19] Speaker 2: Like regardless if you want to do two tech, two
[8:20] Speaker 2: index or not, The mistake is getting to 18, 19, 20,
[8:26] Speaker 2: 30 stocks. Because A, you're not going to put enough
[8:28] Speaker 2: capital into the right ones, or your profits are going
[8:31] Speaker 2: to be so thin. Just specialize. Specialize in maybe four
[8:37] Speaker 2: to six, and you'll be good. And the truth is,
[8:38] Speaker 2: you only need two or three really good stocks to
[8:41] Speaker 2: make a lot of money from. But once you know
[8:44] Speaker 2: those four, at the back of your hand, profit margin, threats.
[8:49] Speaker 1: Multiple moats. Because now.
[8:51] Speaker 2: you can't only just think about the moat in their industry.
[8:54] Speaker 2: You have to think about the moat when you're comparing
[8:56] Speaker 2: them to other companies. Like, so McDonald's has a moat
[8:59] Speaker 2: in real estate, but so does NVIDIA. Who has a
[9:01] Speaker 2: better moat?
[9:03] Speaker 5: NVIDIA.
[9:04] Speaker 1: You got to compare them across sector. So. Yeah.
[9:07] Speaker 5: And I still, I still love Caterpillar. I just didn't
[9:09] Speaker 5: want to repeat. That's all. Caterpillar is underrated. I think,
[9:14] Speaker 5: you know what's great? Like a year ago was when we, we,
[9:17] Speaker 5: we put that call out there for Caterpillar saying that
[9:19] Speaker 5: the business model is going to change. It's interesting. I mean,
[9:21] Speaker 5: just thinking back 12 months about how AI is changing
[9:24] Speaker 5: business models. We talked about Dell and how it changes
[9:26] Speaker 5: business model. Obviously, y'all saw the results of that. I
[9:29] Speaker 5: should have put the Caterpillar results as well. That was
[9:31] Speaker 5: like a 400% gainer, which is incredible for a company
[9:34] Speaker 5: that most people think does plowing and bulldozers and tractors
[9:39] Speaker 5: and machinery that comes with excavation. But energy has become
[9:44] Speaker 5: one of its main components. This is why you've seen
[9:46] Speaker 5: it hit its all-time high. It's had a pullback. GE,
[9:48] Speaker 5: Vinnova as well. So- I feel like even those are
[9:51] Speaker 5: AI adjacent, right? Because those companies are relying on the
[9:53] Speaker 5: energy to power data centers.
