[0:03] Speaker 1: A lot of people think podcasts about work are boring,
[0:06] Speaker 1: and sure they definitely can be, but understanding a professionals
[0:10] Speaker 1: routine shows us how they achieve their success little by little,
[0:14] Speaker 1: day after day. It's like banking with P and C Bank.
[0:18] Speaker 1: It might seem boring to safe plan and make calculated
[0:21] Speaker 1: decisions with your bank, but keeping your money boring is
[0:24] Speaker 1: what helps you live or more happily fulfilled life. P
[0:27] Speaker 1: and C Bank Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly
[0:32] Speaker 1: Boring since eighteen sixty five is a service mark of
[0:35] Speaker 1: the PNC Financial Service Group, Inc. P and C Bank
[0:39] Speaker 1: National Association Member FDIC.
[0:43] Speaker 2: I don't I'm not the one two knock anyone. You know,
[0:49] Speaker 2: whatever you want to do and like, go for it.
[0:52] Speaker 2: You know, I just can't be stopped at whatever I
[0:56] Speaker 2: put my mind to do, I can do.
[0:57] Speaker 3: Yeah. You know.
[0:59] Speaker 2: You know when I was walking to New York as
[1:01] Speaker 2: a kid, did ever when I was young, did every
[1:04] Speaker 2: think that I was going to own a skyscraperag?
[1:07] Speaker 3: I didn't think about it. But now I do own nine.
[1:11] Speaker 3: That's incredible.
[1:12] Speaker 4: Can you talk to us about maybe one of the
[1:14] Speaker 4: biggest lessons you've learned from Leonard lb one, you may
[1:19] Speaker 4: have taken away from Vince McMahon and then someone.
[1:22] Speaker 2: Else who's a mentor to you that's had the impact
[1:24] Speaker 2: in your career. Well, they say, well, they say you
[1:26] Speaker 2: are you are the five people that you surround yourself with.
[1:31] Speaker 2: That's who you are. Yes, So of course i'm you know,
[1:36] Speaker 2: Roy Disney is one of my friends who owns what
[1:39] Speaker 2: Disney Wild, Robert Smith, the richest Black men in America, Yes,
[1:46] Speaker 2: and the list, Mark Holliday from sl Green, Al Hayman,
[1:52] Speaker 2: all these guys are It's not just it's not just
[1:55] Speaker 2: the money. Yeah, you know, I many I've dealt with million,
[1:59] Speaker 2: millions and billions of dollars.
[2:02] Speaker 3: It's about building relationships. Yeah.
[2:05] Speaker 4: Sady talk about that and he always mentioned that.
[2:07] Speaker 2: It's all about it's not really the money because you
[2:09] Speaker 2: can make a lot of money, but if you don't
[2:10] Speaker 2: have a game plan, it's.
[2:12] Speaker 3: Gonna be you.
[2:12] Speaker 2: You you're rich, you're not wealthy because rich is when
[2:16] Speaker 2: you got it for a short period of time.
[2:17] Speaker 3: Wealth it's long term.
[2:20] Speaker 1: So one of the things that we've noticed, obviously you
[2:24] Speaker 1: said you were in Dubai and Abu Dhabi we saw
[2:27] Speaker 1: you there is that you're you're doing business deals like
[2:30] Speaker 1: I see the exhibition fights, but I'm like, he's just
[2:32] Speaker 1: doing that.
[2:33] Speaker 3: But there's something bigger going on obviously. I think it's
[2:35] Speaker 3: the deals.
[2:36] Speaker 1: And so when you're looking at what are you looking
[2:38] Speaker 1: for when deals come across to you, right, Because I'm
[2:41] Speaker 1: sure there's probably a team that says, all right, boyd
[2:43] Speaker 1: we have this.
[2:44] Speaker 3: What are you looking forward to?
[2:46] Speaker 5: Say?
[2:46] Speaker 1: All right, yes, we're going with this because I mean
[2:48] Speaker 1: not skytscreen, but that's that's pretty impressive.
[2:50] Speaker 3: Man.
[2:51] Speaker 2: Well, well, I don't want to be the only smart
[2:53] Speaker 2: person with my team, so I got to choose.
[2:55] Speaker 3: It's chess.
[2:57] Speaker 2: It's real life, real life chess out here in the world.
[3:01] Speaker 2: So I want to make sure that you know, I
[3:04] Speaker 2: got smart individuals that that's around me. That's gonna tell
[3:09] Speaker 2: me don't do that's not smart. You know, I've been
[3:13] Speaker 2: working on buying an NBA team outright. You know, there's
[3:17] Speaker 2: a difference between clapping up for that.
[3:20] Speaker 3: We look.
[3:24] Speaker 2: You know me and actually one of my other other
[3:26] Speaker 2: business partners, Brent Johnson, he's here. So we've been working
[3:31] Speaker 2: on the NBA team for a while now. You know,
[3:33] Speaker 2: it's kind of it's rough Vegas. It could be the
[3:38] Speaker 2: Vegas franchise, it could be the Seattle franchise, or I
[3:42] Speaker 2: could be buying a franchise that's already up and running.
[3:46] Speaker 2: So the first offer we offer them a little bit
[3:50] Speaker 2: over two billion for majority ownership.
[3:54] Speaker 3: We got. Do I have it? Absolutely? I have it.
[3:57] Speaker 3: But clapping up for that, of course, I can kidding me.
[4:05] Speaker 2: But it didn't happen. It didn't happen overnight. It didn't
[4:08] Speaker 2: happen overnight. It's a lot. It's a lot when you
[4:14] Speaker 2: have so many different businesses all around, all around the world.
[4:20] Speaker 3: Actually, it's a lot. It's not easy.
[4:23] Speaker 1: I just followed out really quick because I wonder when
[4:25] Speaker 1: you walk into a business deal, right, are they respecting
[4:28] Speaker 1: you as Foyd made, whether the businessman, or are they
[4:30] Speaker 1: looking at you as Foyd made? Whether the Hall of
[4:33] Speaker 1: Fame boxer at the greatest all the time.
[4:36] Speaker 3: Exactly right? TD? What is that like for you? Well?
[4:40] Speaker 2: I had to be I had to be somewhat intelligent
[4:44] Speaker 2: and smart to be able to make one hundred million
[4:48] Speaker 2: and three hundred million. And actually, at my age now,
[4:52] Speaker 2: I'm still going out there picking up twenty and thirty
[4:55] Speaker 2: million for fifteen minutes in twenty minutes, I'm a.
[4:59] Speaker 4: Greater's true, So clop it up. So it's obvious.
[5:04] Speaker 3: It's obvious that.
[5:07] Speaker 2: I'm the smart one if I'm able to make the
[5:09] Speaker 2: people pay and I'm beating YouTubers.
[5:15] Speaker 3: Good point.
[5:16] Speaker 6: So let me let me ask you this. This is
[5:17] Speaker 6: one thing that I always admired about you. I don't
[5:19] Speaker 6: think you got enough credit for it because you had.
[5:21] Speaker 6: We always see Lebron always getting credit for working with
[5:23] Speaker 6: his team all black young men. But when I look
[5:26] Speaker 6: at you and you see Al Hayman and Leonard llerv
[5:29] Speaker 6: and your circle is all black as far as on
[5:33] Speaker 6: that business side, on the boxing, like the forefront people.
[5:36] Speaker 6: So you were early on that and was that important
[5:40] Speaker 6: to you or you just that just kind of happened
[5:41] Speaker 6: that way.
[5:42] Speaker 2: Well, of course, I'm gonna always I'm gonna always love
[5:46] Speaker 2: my people first, always. But in business, you know, I
[5:58] Speaker 2: gotta think about my family first. I got to think
[6:01] Speaker 2: about my grandson, my daughter, my two daughters, my two sons.
[6:06] Speaker 3: I gotta think about them first.
[6:08] Speaker 2: So when it comes to business, it's not no, it's
[6:13] Speaker 2: not no certain color. I work with everybody. It's just
[6:17] Speaker 2: like that, But far as my team, it just ended up.
[6:21] Speaker 2: You know my team, I.
[6:23] Speaker 3: Have a real diverse team.
[6:25] Speaker 2: You know, we got people from all walks of life
[6:27] Speaker 2: that's on my team that I that I'm with every
[6:30] Speaker 2: day and I love my team. But when it comes
[6:33] Speaker 2: to business, I do business with everyone, honestly speaking.
[6:37] Speaker 4: Quick go ahead, A quick question for you. Talked about
[6:41] Speaker 4: using the hatest fuel and it's something that I struggle with,
[6:45] Speaker 4: but I also use it as fuel. At what point
[6:47] Speaker 4: does using negative energy become detrimental to your life or
[6:53] Speaker 4: do you think it's because we grow with childhood traumas
[6:56] Speaker 4: that makes us activate a higher gear when we hear
[6:59] Speaker 4: something negative towards us.
[7:05] Speaker 3: Well, they say, if you want to.
[7:07] Speaker 2: Going back and forth, and I really want to apologize
[7:11] Speaker 2: because a lot of the time I go back, and
[7:12] Speaker 2: you know, I never I was always on the internet.
[7:15] Speaker 2: I was always the reaction. I wasn't the action because
[7:19] Speaker 2: I never, like I said before, I love my people first.
[7:22] Speaker 2: I'm never gonna you know, but sometimes you can shoot
[7:25] Speaker 2: at me. You can shoot at me and I really
[7:27] Speaker 2: won't say nothing. But you know, I got to shoot back.
[7:30] Speaker 2: You know, I got to teach my children and my
[7:32] Speaker 2: family how to defend themselves, you know, not just in
[7:36] Speaker 2: the ring. So a lot of times when people are
[7:40] Speaker 2: people don't really like when you are.
[7:42] Speaker 3: When you continue to be successful. You know, it's even
[7:46] Speaker 3: like a woman.
[7:47] Speaker 2: A woman can be in your life and she's no
[7:49] Speaker 2: longer in your life, and she can think that, you know,
[7:52] Speaker 2: the grass is green. On the other side, she thinks
[7:55] Speaker 2: that you're not going to continue to be successful.
[7:57] Speaker 3: Shout out to my answers.
[8:01] Speaker 4: You could have been here with me and Floyd's Truyn
[8:03] Speaker 4: shot but shot ob.
[8:06] Speaker 2: Why and it's and it's nothing. Networks both ways. So
[8:10] Speaker 2: I don't want to be in this room. I don't
[8:12] Speaker 2: want to be biased. It works both ways. You know
[8:15] Speaker 2: a lot of times a man like me, I've never
[8:17] Speaker 2: been with a woman. And when we went our separate ways,
[8:20] Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I don't want to see her
[8:21] Speaker 2: be successful. More power to you. That's not gonna that's
[8:25] Speaker 2: not going to change everything that I got. That's not
[8:27] Speaker 2: going to change my drive and my desire, uh to
[8:30] Speaker 2: be great at whatever I'm you know, to be great
[8:33] Speaker 2: at whatever investments I'm trying to do, or whatever I'm
[8:35] Speaker 2: trying to go for in life.
[8:38] Speaker 6: How do you deal with you know, managing people because
[8:42] Speaker 6: you obviously, you know, have many weather promotions, and you know,
[8:47] Speaker 6: you set the precedent for boxes, you know, becoming their
[8:51] Speaker 6: own boss. And you have one of the greatest young
[8:54] Speaker 6: talents on your stable, Javontae Davis. But I've seen recent
[8:59] Speaker 6: I've seen recently that he's actually looking to leave. So
[9:03] Speaker 6: how does that relationship work? How like? How does that work?
[9:06] Speaker 6: As far as you know, grooming somebody, getting him to
[9:09] Speaker 6: a point and then having some differences.
[9:14] Speaker 2: I've always been a gentleman. I've always been respectful, and
[9:18] Speaker 2: there's nothing like taking a kid that come from the
[9:21] Speaker 2: same background as you and helping them and put them
[9:25] Speaker 2: in a position to become a multi man.
[9:27] Speaker 3: There. You know, you meet a kid, he just he
[9:31] Speaker 3: come up to you for autograph, You sign an autograph
[9:33] Speaker 3: for him.
[9:34] Speaker 2: Then I tell him, in a few years when you
[9:36] Speaker 2: get older, I'm gonna work with you and I'm gonna
[9:38] Speaker 2: make your world champion.
[9:39] Speaker 3: Someday.
[9:40] Speaker 2: Years later, I started working with him, helped him, pushed
[9:46] Speaker 2: them to be great. And if he feels like you know,
[9:50] Speaker 2: his wings, he's grew wings where he can fly become
[9:53] Speaker 2: his own boss.
[9:54] Speaker 7: More power to him from your standpoint, because that's not
[10:01] Speaker 7: going to I didn't get into the sport of boxing,
[10:05] Speaker 7: you know, you know after I retired to not want
[10:09] Speaker 7: to see fighters grown.
[10:11] Speaker 2: I wonder if I can, if he feels like he
[10:15] Speaker 2: can surpass Floyd Maywether or beat the next Floyd Mayweather.
[10:20] Speaker 2: I'm here to push you go for it.
[10:23] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[10:23] Speaker 1: From that, my graduates from my school being false bad
[10:31] Speaker 1: drop drop or Mike.
[10:33] Speaker 5: Drop backdrop, Ernest, what's up?
