[0:26] Speaker 2: entrepreneurs of all times, Shaquille O'Neill. If you watch euy L,
[0:31] Speaker 2: you know it's no fluff. We get straight to it
[0:34] Speaker 2: and very rare. Do you have an opportunity to have
[0:36] Speaker 2: these kind of conversations when we interview Mark Cuban, when
[0:39] Speaker 2: we interview Mike Novagratz, who's worth eight billion dollars, when
[0:43] Speaker 2: we interview Rick Ross, when we interview Dame Dash It's
[0:46] Speaker 2: like you're right there.
[0:47] Speaker 3: Keep going.

[0:51] Speaker 2: let's have fun. We're gonna have fun with this today.
[0:54] Speaker 2: But more importantly, I want you guys to really listen
[0:57] Speaker 2: and learn from this man's journey, his experiences, and the
[1:02] Speaker 2: information that he's about to provide. So, without further ado,
[1:07] Speaker 2: the big Aristotle.
[1:10] Speaker 4: Shack where you at, baby, what's happening?
[1:58] Speaker 5: You'll live in this motherfucker? Damn.
[2:03] Speaker 6: It's like it's like Game seven.
[2:05] Speaker 5: This is what's going on. Any Hawks fans of the building, Okay.
[2:10] Speaker 2: Okay, Shaq Shack first and foremost, thank you, brother. We
[2:15] Speaker 2: appreciate it. PhD NBA gentleman and a scholar. But more
[2:21] Speaker 2: important than anything, great father. So before we start, I
[2:25] Speaker 2: want to wish you yes and every father out there fathers, yes, yes, yes, yeah,
[2:35] Speaker 2: So Shaq, We're not even gonna waste any time.
[2:37] Speaker 6: Let's get right into it. Everybody take your seat.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Now it's time to Larn's tom alun pads out. So
[2:44] Speaker 2: Magic Johnson, the Great Magic Johnson gave you some advice
[2:48] Speaker 2: when he was eighteen years old about financial literacy. You know,
[2:51] Speaker 2: we always hear about seventy percent of NBA players going broke,
[2:55] Speaker 2: a lot of the NFL players going broke, rappers, entertainers.
[2:58] Speaker 2: But you're somebody who obviously made a lot of money
[3:01] Speaker 2: while you were playing, but you probably double, quadruple tripled
[3:04] Speaker 2: your net worth after you're playing.
[3:06] Speaker 6: It's a success story.
[3:07] Speaker 2: So what are some of the jewels that he gave
[3:09] Speaker 2: you when you was a young man that you still
[3:11] Speaker 2: carry with you to this day.
[3:13] Speaker 7: Well, at first, before I met Magic Johnson, I spend
[3:16] Speaker 7: a million dollars in one day, so I knew nothing
[3:19] Speaker 7: about financial literacy. My agent calls me and said, hey,
[3:23] Speaker 7: I got a check for a million, so shit, you
[3:26] Speaker 7: know me, I already had that black Mercedes lined up,
[3:29] Speaker 7: so I said, I'm about to go get the Mercedes
[3:31] Speaker 7: with the wheels the pullout deck.
[3:34] Speaker 5: So it costs one fifty.
[3:36] Speaker 7: So when I get back to the crib, my dad said,
[3:38] Speaker 7: where's mine at? So in my mind, I'm like a
[3:41] Speaker 7: million minus one fifty. Shit, I got eight to fifty left, right,
[3:45] Speaker 7: So I go buy him one and go buy my
[3:47] Speaker 7: mother one.
[3:48] Speaker 5: You know.
[3:48] Speaker 7: I get some ice against some ear rings, and get
[3:50] Speaker 7: a couple of suits. So I get a call from
[3:52] Speaker 7: the bank manager. He says, you spend a million dollars
[3:55] Speaker 7: and I was like, no, I didn't. So then when
[3:57] Speaker 7: i'm I'm looking at the paperwork, I see fight. Now
[4:01] Speaker 7: get mad. I'm like, hey, I don't know no motherfucking fighter.
[4:04] Speaker 5: He'd no. I so like, I didn't.
[4:07] Speaker 7: Like, I had no idea what fighter and income to
[4:11] Speaker 7: a sales tax stay taxed.
[4:12] Speaker 5: I had no idea what that was.
[4:14] Speaker 7: So then I said, okay, I don't want to be
[4:17] Speaker 7: like the rest of these NBA players. I got to
[4:19] Speaker 7: teach myself because this is something that we don't know, Like,
[4:23] Speaker 7: you know, my family, work, work, paycheck to paycheck. We
[4:26] Speaker 7: never had no money, but I had to get that binds.
[4:29] Speaker 7: I had to get my mom a bench like I
[4:31] Speaker 7: just had to get that first. So after I spent
[4:34] Speaker 7: that million dollars in the day, I sort of, you know,
[4:36] Speaker 7: educated myself, and it's okay not to know nothing. So
[4:40] Speaker 7: if you don't know nothing, you just ask questions. So
[4:42] Speaker 7: everybody I saw that was successful.
[4:45] Speaker 5: How you do that? How you do that? How you
[4:48] Speaker 5: do that?
[4:48] Speaker 7: And the first book I bought was the Dummiest Guide
[4:51] Speaker 7: to Starting your Own business. Everybody, everybody should get that
[4:54] Speaker 7: book because they give you all the answers on how
[4:57] Speaker 7: to start a business, how to be successful, what to look.
[5:00] Speaker 7: So after that I became a little more literate, but
[5:04] Speaker 7: I still didn't know a lot. Then when I went
[5:07] Speaker 7: to La Magic was having a function. He got some praise.
[5:11] Speaker 7: I got a little bit more praise. I thought I
[5:13] Speaker 7: was the mand and he said, it's all right to
[5:16] Speaker 7: be famous, but at some point, you want to start
[5:18] Speaker 7: owning things. I didn't know what that means. So I
[5:21] Speaker 7: went back to the book and I'm looking up sold proprietorship,
[5:25] Speaker 7: you know, joint venture, all this stuff, and I'm devising
[5:29] Speaker 7: my plan.
[5:30] Speaker 3: That's a valuable lesson, right.
[5:31] Speaker 8: We always made that quote that formal education can make
[5:35] Speaker 8: you a portune, but self education can make you a fortune.
[5:38] Speaker 3: And so I'm glad that you said that. Part.
[5:40] Speaker 8: One of the things that I love that you said
[5:42] Speaker 8: is that you invest in things that changed people's lives,
[5:45] Speaker 8: and so one of those things was Google in two
[5:47] Speaker 8: thousand and four before the IPO. Can you talk about
[5:50] Speaker 8: how you got introduced to Google and the CEOs or
[5:55] Speaker 8: the company itself.
[5:56] Speaker 7: Believe or not that was by accident. Wow, I'm at
[5:59] Speaker 7: the four season's sitting and some white guys and their
[6:05] Speaker 7: kids recognize me. So I'm just being nice, sound on
[6:09] Speaker 7: the grass taking pictures, and a gentleman says, hey, man,
[6:13] Speaker 7: I respect you. I like what you're doing in the community.
[6:15] Speaker 7: I want to tell you about this company Google. I
[6:18] Speaker 7: didn't know what he was talking about. So another good
[6:21] Speaker 7: thing is always half It's always important to have somebody
[6:24] Speaker 7: smarter than you that works for you.
[6:27] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[6:29] Speaker 3: Absolutely.
[6:30] Speaker 7: If you're the smartest guy in the room, there's a problem.
[6:34] Speaker 7: So he talking all this white boy stuff. I don't
[6:38] Speaker 7: know what he's talking about, but I was like, you
[6:39] Speaker 7: know what, I got some white boys. I understand your language.
[6:42] Speaker 7: It sounds good what you're saying, search Engine Future, all
[6:46] Speaker 7: that sound good, but nah, I'm not doing that. I
[6:49] Speaker 7: hooked him up with my guy. My guy was like,
[6:51] Speaker 7: it looks pretty good, let's do it. I put in
[6:54] Speaker 7: a bag, and then a couple of years later, I
[6:58] Speaker 7: got a bigger bag, and then like, I always go
[7:05] Speaker 7: to these text conferences because I like to hear smart
[7:08] Speaker 7: people talk, like some people talk too much, and I
[7:12] Speaker 7: like the people that talk too much because I'm stealing
[7:14] Speaker 7: all this shit. So so Jeff Bezos. Somebody asked Jeff
[7:23] Speaker 7: Bezos how you get so rich, and he said, I
[7:26] Speaker 7: invest in things that change people's lives.
[7:29] Speaker 5: Shit.
[7:34] Speaker 7: So the first thing I did. I was coming out
[7:36] Speaker 7: of the Orlando Arena and this lady was chewing me
[7:42] Speaker 7: a new one. You m efforts charging these babies three
[7:46] Speaker 7: hundred dollars for shoes blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
[7:49] Speaker 7: And I was like, ma'am, I don't make the price.
[7:51] Speaker 7: I apologized, and I had some money in my pocket.
[7:53] Speaker 7: I was like, here you go, baby, go buy your
[7:55] Speaker 7: son Jordan's whatever he wants. She smacked the money out
[7:58] Speaker 7: of my hand. So at that point I went home
[8:00] Speaker 7: and I thought about it. I was like, you know what,
[8:03] Speaker 7: I don't feel right charging the kids that want to
[8:06] Speaker 7: be us one hundred two hundred dollars shoes. Already had
[8:09] Speaker 7: a relationship with Walmart. I had another line. So I
[8:13] Speaker 7: met with the CEO of Walmart and I said, look,
[8:15] Speaker 7: I want to I want to be the number one
[8:17] Speaker 7: shoe seller of Walmart. So we did a deal. That
[8:20] Speaker 7: was in ninety five, and ever since ninety five, I've
[8:22] Speaker 7: sold over four hundred million bear.
[8:24] Speaker 3: Four hundred million clap it up for that, clap it
[8:27] Speaker 3: up for that.
[8:28] Speaker 7: The Mom's on It mines are twenty nine ninety five,
[8:31] Speaker 7: nineteen ninety five. But see, the secret is, I know us.
[8:36] Speaker 7: It's not that we don't want to wear twenty dollars shoes.
[8:38] Speaker 7: We don't want to wear shoes that look like they
[8:40] Speaker 7: cost twenty dollars. I know how to go. So again,
[8:44] Speaker 7: I hire some designers. Shit, if the you know Adida's
[8:48] Speaker 7: got three strikes, my shit gonna have four.
[8:51] Speaker 5: That's Case Swiss, that's KSE Swiss.
[8:53] Speaker 7: Case whatever. And then you know, with me being who
[8:59] Speaker 7: I am, some kids still get picked on when they
[9:01] Speaker 7: go to school, but it's still a little bit of
[9:04] Speaker 7: you know, respect behind my name.
[9:06] Speaker 2: People don't fully understand that. And I want to dive
[9:08] Speaker 2: even deeper because as a young person, you have foresight.
[9:11] Speaker 2: I believe you turned down a seven million dollar extension
[9:15] Speaker 2: from reebok to start your own company. So speak about
[9:18] Speaker 2: that as far as the power of betting itself, because
[9:20] Speaker 2: there's people out here who might have a two hundred
[9:23] Speaker 2: thousand dollar job that they are afraid to leave. So
[9:26] Speaker 2: you turned down a seven million dollar extension from reebok,
[9:29] Speaker 2: which was twenty years ago, and that on yourself, and
[9:34] Speaker 2: like you said, it ended up working out real big
[9:36] Speaker 2: for you.
[9:36] Speaker 7: I took a chance what I realized from the previous
[9:41] Speaker 7: business that I wasn't going to outsell Michael Jordan. But
[9:45] Speaker 7: people know who I was, right because Michael used to
[9:49] Speaker 7: kill me a foot locker like they weren't even looking
[9:51] Speaker 7: at my shit, which is cool. I understand that's Mike.
[9:54] Speaker 7: I ain't tripping. So I said, if I go somewhere
[9:57] Speaker 7: where nobody's at, that's all mine, right, And then I said,
[10:02] Speaker 7: you know what, I know, it's a lot of kids
[10:04] Speaker 7: out there that that you know, want to have something
[10:06] Speaker 7: respectable on their feet or respectable names, something that looked
[10:09] Speaker 7: good and it's going to work, and it's the right
[10:12] Speaker 7: thing to do, because again I didn't feel right charging
[10:16] Speaker 7: little kids one hundred and two hundred dollars for shoes.
[10:18] Speaker 7: First year, I felt good about it, but then I
[10:20] Speaker 7: have to you know, reality kicked in. I was like,
[10:22] Speaker 7: this ain't right, this ain't right. So I invested in
[10:26] Speaker 7: something that's going to change people's lives, and I just
[10:29] Speaker 7: went for it. You know, being a CEO starts up here.
[10:34] Speaker 7: Everybody in this room is already a CEO.
[10:36] Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yeah, clapping up yourselves for sure.
[10:39] Speaker 7: For sure, you don't you don't have to be a
[10:42] Speaker 7: you don't have to own a business to be a CEO.
[10:44] Speaker 7: Being a CEO is a mentality. If you have that mentality,
[10:48] Speaker 7: if you have that belief, it will work. Of course,
[10:51] Speaker 7: there's going to be some ups and downs. When I
[10:53] Speaker 7: first started sell ten thousand pair, twenty thousand pairs, fifty
[10:58] Speaker 7: thousand pair, and then it just kept on. So you know,
[11:01] Speaker 7: I've been doing this since since ninety five, so ninety
[11:03] Speaker 7: five to now, that's what thirty something years, four hundred
[11:06] Speaker 7: million pair. And then I went to China and did
[11:09] Speaker 7: the same thing, get some of that Chinese money getting ennyone.
[11:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, but what people don't even digging even deeper to
[11:18] Speaker 2: the situation where Reebop you actually designed the logo and
[11:23] Speaker 2: talk about that because you I believe you did that
[11:25] Speaker 2: when you.
[11:25] Speaker 6: Was in college.
[11:26] Speaker 7: You know, it's crazy. It was simple how I did it.
[11:31] Speaker 7: So Michael Jordan's jump man and I dunk a lot shit.
[11:34] Speaker 7: I'm dunk man. That's how I did it. So I
[11:38] Speaker 7: went to you know I'm saying. So I went to
[11:40] Speaker 7: the office, got a registered. I can only afford to
[11:45] Speaker 7: get a registered across the United States, so I had it.
[11:48] Speaker 7: So we had a marketing class. The marketing professor said,
[11:52] Speaker 7: show us something that could be sold in the future.
[11:55] Speaker 7: So I came with the Shack shirts, Shaq underwear, Shak sock,
[11:59] Speaker 7: shak shoes. And at that time, big men were not selling.
[12:03] Speaker 7: Only guys were selling. That was doctor Magic Johnson, Larry Bird.
[12:08] Speaker 7: So the guy gave me an f he said, this
[12:09] Speaker 7: will never work because big guys don't sell.
[12:13] Speaker 5: So then I thought about what he said. It made
[12:15] Speaker 5: a lot of sense.
[12:16] Speaker 7: So as I'm back in my dorm room, I'm sitting
[12:18] Speaker 7: I seen this dumb ass dog on TV and I'm
[12:26] Speaker 7: just sitting there. This dude got like twenty commercials, and
[12:29] Speaker 7: I go through the store. He got cups and hats.
[12:31] Speaker 7: So now I go back and study him. And every
[12:33] Speaker 7: commercial he did was funny. So I said, a Hi,
[12:36] Speaker 7: if I ever get the chance to do a commercial,
[12:38] Speaker 7: I just got to add a lot of humor to
[12:40] Speaker 7: the commercial. So I've always had the ability to create
[12:42] Speaker 7: my own commercials and it's working out pretty good for me.
[12:46] Speaker 8: One of the other things that happened in college is
[12:49] Speaker 8: and you actually turned into a business, was the lack
[12:51] Speaker 8: of the ability to get car insurance, and so now
[12:54] Speaker 8: you have a deal with the General insurance. Can you
[12:57] Speaker 8: tell about that story, because a lot of times people
[12:59] Speaker 8: see the Immershaw and they see the cartoon, it's, ah,
[13:02] Speaker 8: this is not serious, But Na, this is something that
[13:04] Speaker 8: you've been doing for a long time because of that story.
[13:06] Speaker 7: In college, everybody everybody had a car but me. So
[13:10] Speaker 7: I'm walking one day and I see this Bronco too.
[13:13] Speaker 7: That shit was raggedy, but it was a car fifteen hundred.
[13:17] Speaker 7: So I get the pel grant for eighteen hundred. So yeah,
[13:21] Speaker 7: we know that, we know the pel grants, so we
[13:23] Speaker 7: know that. So I go to the bank and get
[13:26] Speaker 7: about three hundred and I get the rest in ones,
[13:29] Speaker 7: so I got the big knot. So then I go
[13:33] Speaker 7: buy the car and the guy says, hey, man, before
[13:36] Speaker 7: I let you drive, you need insurance. I'm like, what's insurance?
[13:40] Speaker 7: He said, you need insurance. So I go to all
[13:42] Speaker 7: these places three hundred a month, two hundred a month.
[13:47] Speaker 7: So now I got to go back to the dude like,
[13:49] Speaker 7: hey man, I need my money back. I can't afford
[13:51] Speaker 7: the insurance. So he said, no, go to this place.
[13:54] Speaker 7: And the place I went to was the General. And
[13:57] Speaker 7: the reason why I do commercial for the General now, one,
[14:01] Speaker 7: they took care of me when I was young. But
[14:03] Speaker 7: it's affordable insurance. We ain't got time these days, especially
[14:08] Speaker 7: since they laying people off. We ain't got time to
[14:10] Speaker 7: be paying five hundred and six hundred for insurance. So
[14:13] Speaker 7: it's really a quality insurance company, just like all the
[14:16] Speaker 7: other companies. But we decide we're not overcharging people and
[14:20] Speaker 7: you get the same thing. So that's why I'm with
[14:22] Speaker 7: the General. I'm more about I'm more about introducing products
[14:26] Speaker 7: that are affordable to people rather than just you know,
[14:28] Speaker 7: introducing everything so lo to you for.
[14:31] Speaker 6: That that's a fact.
[14:33] Speaker 2: Let's get back to this logo, because I don't I
[14:35] Speaker 2: think that that might have won over a few people's heads.
[14:37] Speaker 2: It's valuable lessons in this situation. A. You was in college,
[14:41] Speaker 2: you was an All American, you're the top basketball player
[14:44] Speaker 2: in college. You come up with an idea, your professor
[14:48] Speaker 2: tells you that's a bad idea, gives you an f
[14:51] Speaker 2: and said big men are not marketable. So A, I
[14:55] Speaker 2: think that a lot of times in our life we
[14:57] Speaker 2: let people dictate our future by their opinion.
[15:01] Speaker 6: You could have easily said you're right, But also.
[15:03] Speaker 2: You didn't take it personal because in a way he
[15:05] Speaker 2: kind of was right. But you realize that you had
[15:10] Speaker 2: to become a personality. So that's why when you start
[15:13] Speaker 2: the commercials. But McKenzie, it's like, okay, the shock and
[15:16] Speaker 2: the fool. People see you dancing and all that. They think, like,
[15:18] Speaker 2: you are a nice guy. But that's also part of
[15:22] Speaker 2: the marketing play because you knew you had to make
[15:24] Speaker 2: yourself a lovable character.
[15:26] Speaker 3: Earns what's going on.
[15:27] Speaker 8: Traditional universities are outdated and don't teach you how to
[15:30] Speaker 8: become an entrepreneur.
[15:31] Speaker 3: They just teach you how to become an employee.
[15:34] Speaker 2: You go to school for four years and you leave
[15:36] Speaker 2: with nothing but debt. But here are EYL University. Our
[15:40] Speaker 2: curriculum is much different.
[15:42] Speaker 8: Our university teaches you real world skills that you can
[15:45] Speaker 8: use to gain financial freedom right away.
[15:47] Speaker 3: And traditional universities you learn.
[15:49] Speaker 8: From professors that have never did what they teach, and
[15:51] Speaker 8: they teach you how to become an employee. At our university,
[15:54] Speaker 8: we use instructors that are currently successful in specific field
[15:57] Speaker 8: that they teach, and they teach you how to become entrepreneur.
[16:00] Speaker 2: For a limited time only, you can join eyl University
[16:04] Speaker 2: for twenty five percent off of the annual membership. Learn
[16:08] Speaker 2: about stocks, credit, real estate, crypto and more. Go to
[16:11] Speaker 2: eyluniversity dot com right now and sign up to become
[16:15] Speaker 2: an earner.
[16:16] Speaker 3: Don't wait, don't hesitate it over there, now, give.
[16:18] Speaker 7: Me a favor. If you feel like you're somebody, put
[16:21] Speaker 7: your hand up. This is the quote I tell my kids.
[16:26] Speaker 7: If a nobody can influence to somebody, then that nobody wins.
[16:31] Speaker 7: But the question of the day is who the fuck
[16:33] Speaker 7: are you? Nobody think about that. I don't let people
[16:37] Speaker 7: tell me what I can and can't do. It won't happen.
[16:40] Speaker 7: So he's saying, he's saying, big guys ain't gonna sell it.
[16:43] Speaker 7: I'm like, okay, all right, whatever, don't do this, don't
[16:48] Speaker 7: do that, okay, whatever. Like it don't matter what they say.
[16:50] Speaker 7: You gotta whatever you believe, you go for it, and
[16:53] Speaker 7: you gotta understand before you succeed, you must first learn
[16:56] Speaker 7: to fail. Like if you fail one or two times
[16:59] Speaker 7: and you and you stop pursuing your dream, you ain't ready.
[17:03] Speaker 8: Anyway, that's a valuable lesson. A lot of people discount that.
[17:07] Speaker 5: Right.
[17:08] Speaker 8: I read this quote and said that failure is the
[17:10] Speaker 8: beginning of the journey. It is right because after that
[17:13] Speaker 8: point you've now learned what not to do. So a
[17:16] Speaker 8: lot of people got to get really understand that.
[17:18] Speaker 5: Right.
[17:18] Speaker 3: You have to feel at some point.
[17:20] Speaker 6: Just to know, and you learn from the mistakes of others.
[17:22] Speaker 2: So obviously Michael Jordan a goat, but he doesn't own
[17:26] Speaker 2: the junk Man logo. And there's actually a lawsuit a
[17:28] Speaker 2: few years ago with the photographer that took that picture.
[17:31] Speaker 2: Nike paid them like ten thousand dollars. But think about
[17:35] Speaker 2: how valuable that logo billions. That logo itself is worth
[17:39] Speaker 2: billions of dollars. So you learned from that and said, Okay,
[17:42] Speaker 2: I got the dunk Man logo, but you own that logo.
[17:46] Speaker 2: So artists, entertainers, you see people that don't own their masters.
[17:51] Speaker 2: You've seen the horror stories. Learn from it. Don't continue
[17:55] Speaker 2: to make the same mistake.
[17:56] Speaker 7: Yes, I've always learned from mistakes. My father was a
[18:00] Speaker 7: drill sergeant. So when every every time somebody did something crazy,
[18:04] Speaker 7: I got a whooping len bias passed away from doing cocaine.
[18:08] Speaker 7: My father came in and told me a new one.
[18:12] Speaker 7: He came in the house. He said, if you ever
[18:13] Speaker 7: do coke, I'll kill you. And I'm so young and dumb,
[18:16] Speaker 7: I was like, I don't. I don't do coke. I
[18:18] Speaker 7: drink PEPSI. It just hit me with that, with the two.
[18:21] Speaker 5: Piece bo bo. That's why I don't. That's why I
[18:24] Speaker 5: don't do drugs.
[18:26] Speaker 7: One time he caught me sipping on the beer, he
[18:29] Speaker 7: made me drink a twelve pack to the head. That's
[18:32] Speaker 7: why I don't do stuff like that. Every time every
[18:33] Speaker 7: time I athlete did something crazy, I would get in trouble. So,
[18:37] Speaker 7: you know, rather than really cute and judging people, I
[18:40] Speaker 7: just learned, you know, from their mistakes.
[18:43] Speaker 3: So just the logo.
[18:44] Speaker 8: I'm thinking from my perspective, and I want him to
[18:46] Speaker 8: your take on it. This is something that you sketched
[18:48] Speaker 8: in college. If we go to l A right now,
[18:51] Speaker 8: that logo is in front of the Staples Center.
[18:54] Speaker 3: What is that feeling like for you?
[18:55] Speaker 6: Oh, don't let that go over your head, ladies.
[18:57] Speaker 2: And this is the idea that he sketched his college,
[19:01] Speaker 2: and then he got a statue in front of the
[19:02] Speaker 2: Staples Center of that same logo.
[19:04] Speaker 5: Yo, I made for.
[19:08] Speaker 3: Christige.
[19:10] Speaker 7: I see, I see a lot of kids in here,
[19:14] Speaker 7: and I tell kids the same thing. Listen to your
[19:17] Speaker 7: mother and father. I wasn't the smartest guy in her room,
[19:21] Speaker 7: wasn't the brightest guy in a room. But I listened
[19:23] Speaker 7: to my mother and father. They believed in my dream.
[19:26] Speaker 7: They made me believe in my dream. And I just
[19:29] Speaker 7: I just wanted to fight. I'm a fighter. Like when
[19:32] Speaker 7: you tell me I can't do nothing, I'm gonna just
[19:34] Speaker 7: go and do it. So when I first got to LA,
[19:37] Speaker 7: nobody could be as famous as Magic and kareem you'll
[19:39] Speaker 7: never win and all that, and I'm saying, Okay, you're
[19:42] Speaker 7: a nobody. I'm a somebody. I ain't trying to hear
[19:45] Speaker 7: all that, and you know, you just keep fighting. So
[19:47] Speaker 7: the first four years me and Kobe we got swept.
[19:50] Speaker 7: We ain't give up. We just kept going, and then
[19:52] Speaker 7: we won three in a row. I got traded. You
[19:54] Speaker 7: all know the story. But again, it doesn't matter what
[19:57] Speaker 7: anybody tell you. It's what you believe. Again, everybody here
[20:01] Speaker 7: is the CEO. The CEO is mental.
[20:04] Speaker 2: So yeah, one of the things that you're known for
[20:08] Speaker 2: is being a franchise owner. You own a bunch of franchises.
[20:12] Speaker 2: They talked about it earlier, Papa John's twenty four hour fitness. Yeah,
[20:19] Speaker 2: any other that I'm missing five guys, but you sold
[20:21] Speaker 2: so far sold five guys.
[20:24] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[20:26] Speaker 2: But so the franchise. It's a lot of NBA players
[20:29] Speaker 2: that a franchise. Jamal Mashburn, Chauncey Billups, Chauncey Billups, Magic Johnson,
[20:36] Speaker 2: Junior Bridgeman, a person that probably nobody here has ever
[20:39] Speaker 2: heard that.
[20:40] Speaker 8: That's not true because they listened to Hopefully. They want Hopefully,
[20:44] Speaker 8: so y'all should know Junior Bridgeman.
[20:45] Speaker 6: But Junior Bridgeman is interesting.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Can you talk about the story of Juliy Bridgeman and
[20:50] Speaker 2: how he influenced you.
[20:52] Speaker 7: I always use people that are better than me to
[20:54] Speaker 7: influence me. So coming up Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, doctor
[20:59] Speaker 7: j and business is Junior Bridgeman because he did the
[21:03] Speaker 7: same thing I did as a professional basketball player. After
[21:06] Speaker 7: that he bridge out into business. Dudes a billionaire. So
[21:12] Speaker 7: even though I'm forty nine, I don't feel ashamed when
[21:15] Speaker 7: I say I want to be like somebody else. I
[21:18] Speaker 7: strive to be like him. And he owns a lot
[21:20] Speaker 7: of things and he's a very impressive man. The Papa
[21:23] Speaker 7: Johns was a very interesting story. So after the dude
[21:27] Speaker 7: did what he did, I was already trying to get franchises,
[21:32] Speaker 7: but he kind of turned me down. So after the
[21:34] Speaker 7: dude did what he did, a friend of mine said, hey,
[21:38] Speaker 7: we're going to go buy Papa John's. I said what
[21:41] Speaker 7: you mean? He said, come with me. So we go
[21:44] Speaker 7: in and a friend that I know he buys Papa
[21:46] Speaker 7: John's and he said, Shack, I want you a board.
[21:49] Speaker 7: I said, well, you know, you messed up with my people.
[21:52] Speaker 7: He said, no, it wasn't me, it was in. I said,
[21:54] Speaker 7: well you know they messed up with my people. I said,
[21:57] Speaker 7: if you put me on board. I gotta be on
[22:01] Speaker 7: the board. I gotta be in charge, and I gotta
[22:04] Speaker 7: get some franchises. I got to help y'all understand what's
[22:07] Speaker 7: going on. So the first thing I did when they
[22:11] Speaker 7: came in, they'll say, hey, man, the numbers, the numbers
[22:15] Speaker 7: are still the same. We're not getting any better. I said,
[22:17] Speaker 7: can I be frank? I said yeah. I said, how
[22:20] Speaker 7: y'all gonna call people the N word and then charge
[22:22] Speaker 7: them the highest price for pizza. We ain't going for that,
[22:24] Speaker 7: show talk about it. We ain't going for that. So
[22:30] Speaker 7: I said, first thing you need to do, drop them prices.
[22:32] Speaker 5: Though.
[22:33] Speaker 7: So you dropped the prices, things start getting back. And
[22:37] Speaker 7: at first I took a lot of flat and I
[22:39] Speaker 7: understood because a lot of times I don't tell people
[22:42] Speaker 7: what I'm doing because I don't want it to be
[22:44] Speaker 7: perceived as bragging. He do this, he do that, I'm
[22:47] Speaker 7: doing business for me. It was a great thing to do.
[22:51] Speaker 7: And listen, Papa John's is a good brand. The guy
[22:53] Speaker 7: just messed up, but he had to pay for that.
[22:55] Speaker 7: He sold it to us. So now that he sold
[22:58] Speaker 7: it to us, I'm just gonna make it's right. Slowly,
[23:01] Speaker 7: but surely. But a lot of people you sell out
[23:03] Speaker 7: this and that. But one thing I will never do
[23:05] Speaker 7: is sell my people out. I'll never like if he
[23:08] Speaker 7: was still involved, yes, sir, listen, if he was.
[23:12] Speaker 5: Still involved, I would never do that. But he out.
[23:16] Speaker 5: My man owned it and I own it now, so
[23:18] Speaker 5: we're straight.
[23:23] Speaker 3: And the marketing is amazing.
[23:24] Speaker 8: By the way, So when you're going into company, is
[23:27] Speaker 8: there a specific thing that you're looking for when you're
[23:29] Speaker 8: trying to investigate a company. Obviously you wanted to change lives,
[23:32] Speaker 8: but is there any other criteria that you're looking for
[23:34] Speaker 8: when you want to get.
[23:35] Speaker 3: Into a company.
[23:36] Speaker 7: I man, I just want to make people happy and
[23:38] Speaker 7: make people smile. So the general because that's affordable insurance, yep,
[23:42] Speaker 7: shack shoes for the kids.
[23:45] Speaker 5: What else?
[23:46] Speaker 7: Papa John's because you know we love pizza. Yeah, I
[23:50] Speaker 7: sold my aunt N's. Yeah, because black people don't like
[23:53] Speaker 7: pretzels that much, so I had to switch it out.
[23:58] Speaker 8: Now, the cinnamon ones we eat, the cinnamon flavored ones
[24:01] Speaker 8: we eat. We eat done right, y'all eat the cinnamon pretzels.
[24:04] Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I don'tbody eat no cinnamon prenzels. You know,
[24:10] Speaker 7: if we do, if we don't get your motherfucker Vince
[24:14] Speaker 7: Carter looking at ass out there.
[24:18] Speaker 5: You don't hat no cinnamon putting my hell.
[24:20] Speaker 6: Now, no, no troys you're making. So it's the spices
[24:26] Speaker 6: and all that. No, I don't.
[24:28] Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought it was a good investing.
[24:30] Speaker 3: But yeah, big live man.
[24:35] Speaker 6: But before I'm ask you another question.
[24:38] Speaker 2: But before we go there, it's a it's a lesson
[24:40] Speaker 2: in humility and not to look past anybody. The reason
[24:44] Speaker 2: why I brought up Junior Bridgeman is because, like I said,
[24:47] Speaker 2: the vast majority of people who never heard of him.
[24:49] Speaker 2: He played in the NBA in the nineteen seventies. I
[24:51] Speaker 2: think the most he ever made was like two hundred
[24:53] Speaker 2: thousand dollars. He worked in Wendy's during the off season.
[24:56] Speaker 2: He didn't work in Wendy's because he needed the job.
[24:58] Speaker 2: He worked in Windy's to learn in the business. So
[25:01] Speaker 2: after he was done, he started investing in win these franchises.
[25:03] Speaker 2: He ended up owning over four hundred whin these franchises
[25:06] Speaker 2: and became the second largest win these franchise owner in
[25:08] Speaker 2: the world, not America, in the world. And he amassed
[25:12] Speaker 2: a network for four hundred million dollars in a process.
[25:16] Speaker 6: No no, no, no no.
[25:17] Speaker 2: So then he sold that, he sold all of those
[25:21] Speaker 2: and flipped it and now he's nine hundred million. So
[25:24] Speaker 2: Shaq said, he looks up to him. So if you
[25:26] Speaker 2: just looking at it, like Junior Bridgeman, he's not an
[25:29] Speaker 2: All Stars, he's not a Hall of Fame, you might
[25:32] Speaker 2: he might be in an audience right now you walk
[25:34] Speaker 2: right past him. You never know who you're sitting next to.
[25:38] Speaker 2: And just because you're not at the top of a
[25:41] Speaker 2: certain level now doesn't mean you can't get to the
[25:43] Speaker 2: top of something else later on.
[25:44] Speaker 3: And that's and that was one of the things.
[25:46] Speaker 8: He was at the top of a list, right So
[25:48] Speaker 8: when you I read the story where he said that
[25:50] Speaker 8: you searched up NBA players with the greatest fortune and
[25:54] Speaker 8: you thought your name would.
[25:55] Speaker 5: Be on that. I thought I was at the top.
[25:56] Speaker 3: I'm close to your surprise, it was Julia Bridgmane.
[26:01] Speaker 7: You know, it's crazy because I was at the airport too,
[26:03] Speaker 7: like NBA richest players. I was like, I was like
[26:17] Speaker 7: number seven. I'm like, damn, I'm broke compared to these dudes.
[26:23] Speaker 7: But it just it just motivated and like the crazy
[26:27] Speaker 7: thing is I never wanted to be rich. I just
[26:31] Speaker 7: wanted to be able to buy my mother or anything
[26:33] Speaker 7: she wants. That's it. I don't care about. Look, you can't.
[26:39] Speaker 7: You can't take none of this with you, just like
[26:43] Speaker 7: some of the ladies in here, and you know some
[26:45] Speaker 7: of your parents. My mom used to cook us breakfast,
[26:50] Speaker 7: iron our clothes, go to work, come home, cook dinner,
[26:56] Speaker 7: never complain. So that was motivating for me. The first
[26:59] Speaker 7: thing I said, I said, when I get this money,
[27:01] Speaker 7: you ain't gonna have to do nothing ever again in
[27:04] Speaker 7: your life. I heard a little seriously like nothing so
[27:10] Speaker 7: and she's she never asked me for nothing. But right
[27:14] Speaker 7: before Kobe died, my sister passed away, so my family
[27:18] Speaker 7: was living in Orlando. I only got to see him
[27:21] Speaker 7: four times at work. It's like, y'all got to come
[27:23] Speaker 7: home with me, So mother go pick a house. You know,
[27:26] Speaker 7: she's still want of them my old school, my baby.
[27:28] Speaker 7: That's too much. I'm like, you want it, and like
[27:31] Speaker 7: it feels good to just tell them, yeah, give me
[27:34] Speaker 7: that without without do with without no checking credit or
[27:38] Speaker 7: none of that. Like the lady was like, she was like,
[27:40] Speaker 7: I need to check your credit. I was like, I
[27:41] Speaker 7: beg your pardon, excuse me.
[27:47] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[27:48] Speaker 7: My mama was like, baby, don't do that. I was like,
[27:50] Speaker 7: hold on, mama, she disrespected me. Hey lady, I want
[27:54] Speaker 7: this house and I want to ten day closing right now.
[27:56] Speaker 5: Do it?
[27:57] Speaker 7: Thank you appreciate it. So that's that's that's what I'm
[28:01] Speaker 7: doing for. So you know my kids. My kids are
[28:07] Speaker 7: older now and they're kind of upset with me, not
[28:10] Speaker 7: really upset, but they don't understand because I tell them
[28:12] Speaker 7: all the time.
[28:13] Speaker 5: We ain't rich. I'm rich. Yeah, we don't know.
[28:19] Speaker 7: You got to You got to have bachelors or masters,
[28:22] Speaker 7: and then if you want me to invest in one
[28:24] Speaker 7: of your companies, you're gonna have to present it boom
[28:26] Speaker 7: boom boom and bring it to me. I'll let you know.
[28:28] Speaker 7: I'm not giving you nothing. The girls, I'll take care
[28:32] Speaker 7: of the girl. But my boys or they're not getting nothing.
[28:35] Speaker 8: Do you see the entrepreneurial spirit and get children. I
[28:38] Speaker 8: know some of the boys are playing basketball. Did you
[28:41] Speaker 8: see that spirit in them?
[28:42] Speaker 5: Yeah?
[28:42] Speaker 7: I do, but I try to let them figure it out.
[28:44] Speaker 7: You know, listen, it's one rule education. I don't care
[28:48] Speaker 7: if you play basketball. I don't care about none of
[28:50] Speaker 7: that because unless I got six kids, I would like
[28:54] Speaker 7: a doctor, somebody own a hedge fund, a pharmacist, a lawyer,
[29:00] Speaker 7: someone that owns multiple businesses, someone to take over my business.
[29:03] Speaker 7: But I tell him, I said we not. I'm not
[29:05] Speaker 7: just gonna hand it to you. You got to earn
[29:08] Speaker 7: it so they'll they understand. So for Christmas, one of
[29:12] Speaker 7: my sons got all a's. I said, man, go pick
[29:14] Speaker 7: what you want. So he come back with the Tesla.
[29:19] Speaker 7: I said, you better take your ass frush straight to
[29:21] Speaker 7: the chargers. You better get you a charger. I ain't
[29:25] Speaker 7: getting no by fucking tesla, no dog, better get you
[29:32] Speaker 7: a charger. The V six at that, I get the
[29:34] Speaker 7: hell cat. You don't get the hell Cat.
[29:38] Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question cuz you're a very
[29:41] Speaker 2: observant person and you make investments based off of the
[29:43] Speaker 2: things that you observe.
[29:45] Speaker 3: Ring.
[29:46] Speaker 2: You were early invested in Ring, and it's an interesting story.
[29:50] Speaker 6: So can you tell that story?
[29:52] Speaker 7: So this is the first time I'm not living like
[29:54] Speaker 7: a spoiled bread I love Atlanta. These are my people.
[29:58] Speaker 7: I live amongst the people, right. So I call a
[30:02] Speaker 7: security company say, hey, man, I need some cameras because
[30:05] Speaker 7: people are still crazy now. So I said, I need
[30:08] Speaker 7: some cameras. So the dude comes to the house eighty thousand.
[30:15] Speaker 7: I'm not paying no motherfucking eighty thousand.
[30:18] Speaker 5: Be there.
[30:19] Speaker 7: Call another company sixty five thousand. I'm not paying that either.
[30:27] Speaker 7: So I go to best Buy. I'm getting TV and
[30:29] Speaker 7: stuff at the house and I see this little ring camera.
[30:32] Speaker 7: And the crazy thing about it is I hooked it
[30:34] Speaker 7: up myself. I put it on the door. I forgot
[30:36] Speaker 7: about it. I'm weigh in China, me and my man Rock,
[30:40] Speaker 7: we're doing like this. You know, if there's this thing
[30:42] Speaker 7: in China and somebody rings a bell and I'm talking
[30:45] Speaker 7: to him. I was like, damn, my people don't know
[30:47] Speaker 7: about this. So I went to the conference. I told
[30:50] Speaker 7: the guy, said, hey, my name is Shaquille O'Neil. I
[30:53] Speaker 7: want to invest in your company, and you're gonna pay
[30:56] Speaker 7: me to do commercials. And then whatever happens happened. So
[31:00] Speaker 7: I invested some money in it, and then the year later,
[31:03] Speaker 7: Jeff was about the company.
[31:05] Speaker 5: I make us.
[31:05] Speaker 7: Look, it's good for us. It's affordable security that that
[31:10] Speaker 7: really works. I mean, just think about my other security
[31:14] Speaker 7: in my other house. I paid a lot of money
[31:15] Speaker 7: for it. They don't call the phone you can't see
[31:19] Speaker 7: who's who's you know, doing what? So I actually like
[31:23] Speaker 7: this guy. I was like, you know what I want
[31:25] Speaker 7: to invest in. You know he did.
[31:27] Speaker 2: How much did Jeff Bezos by the company for your
[31:29] Speaker 2: cool billion?
[31:30] Speaker 8: A cool billion billion billion would be congrats on that one.
[31:37] Speaker 5: I didn't get that money.
[31:39] Speaker 3: Early investor as an early investor.
[31:42] Speaker 6: Another another story that you told me when I.
[31:46] Speaker 7: Get a billion dollars, I'm gonna start walking around with
[31:48] Speaker 7: those shoes on. Motherfucker toes just out.
[31:53] Speaker 3: Shot shot, shot, shot shot. This picture is on the
[31:57] Speaker 3: Internet of your toe.
[31:58] Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
[31:59] Speaker 3: You can't do that.
[32:01] Speaker 5: Toes just gonna be out.
[32:03] Speaker 6: You had you halfway there. You got sway sway loafers,
[32:06] Speaker 6: halfway halfway there.
[32:07] Speaker 5: My shoes.
[32:08] Speaker 3: I like the shoes like this, We like to shoes like.
[32:14] Speaker 3: It's the toes that I'm concerned about.
[32:16] Speaker 5: My toes ugly as hell.
[32:18] Speaker 3: The word, respectfully, probably the worst.
[32:21] Speaker 5: I've never seen my ship bad. I know it.
[32:27] Speaker 6: Playing with the Great Kobe Bryant, they.
[32:34] Speaker 5: Got to happen. The god the cameras on his feet.
[32:38] Speaker 5: They put, Oh you don't want to see my toes?
[32:40] Speaker 8: No, no, no, yo zoomnom.
[32:54] Speaker 3: I thought it was a photoshop the first time I saw.
[32:57] Speaker 5: My ship terrible. Damn.
[33:02] Speaker 6: Can't I see some things you cannot see?
[33:04] Speaker 8: You can'not see that? No, that might that's your leasure. First.
[33:09] Speaker 8: I'm not sure if that was a tone down or what.
[33:11] Speaker 8: The ugly feet, so what billionaire feet?
[33:15] Speaker 6: Shack playing?
[33:16] Speaker 7: My feet looked better than them ugly short You got
[33:19] Speaker 7: on you about that?
[33:22] Speaker 5: I thought I wasn't gonna come back. Huh huh, what's
[33:31] Speaker 5: wrong with them? Don't let him do that?
[33:32] Speaker 3: Shout it? Yeah, stopp laughing, y'all. That's my brother. Stopped laughing, y'all.
[33:35] Speaker 5: What's happening?
[33:36] Speaker 6: He thought about that?
[33:37] Speaker 5: He thought about that? Shaky at?
[33:39] Speaker 6: What's shaky?
[33:40] Speaker 5: When you need him?
[33:42] Speaker 6: Shaky?
[33:42] Speaker 5: Where you aat?
[33:44] Speaker 6: I got?
[33:45] Speaker 2: I got reinforcements, man nah.
[33:49] Speaker 6: Playing playing, playing with the Great Kobe Bryant.
[33:53] Speaker 2: And as far as his work ethic, what did you
[33:57] Speaker 2: learn from playing and seeing somebody? He's so focused, so determine, Uh,
[34:03] Speaker 2: what did you learn from that? And with's some lessons
[34:06] Speaker 2: that you can kind of give the people here because
[34:08] Speaker 2: you played with him, and you as a teammate and
[34:10] Speaker 2: you were a friend of his.
[34:11] Speaker 7: When I say I didn't learn anything from him, I
[34:13] Speaker 7: don't mean that in a disrespectful way, because every CEO
[34:17] Speaker 7: in here has their own route, right. You don't have
[34:20] Speaker 7: to follow my route. You got to follow your route.
[34:23] Speaker 7: Kobe was different, like he worked, work, work, work, work,
[34:27] Speaker 7: work or work I work, go to the club, work,
[34:34] Speaker 7: go to the mall, work in people's DM work like this.
[34:41] Speaker 7: But he just right work. That ain't me, but the
[34:48] Speaker 7: way he did it was just Our mentors were similar.
[34:53] Speaker 7: He wanted to be the best ever. I didn't want
[34:56] Speaker 7: to be the best ever. I wanted to be the
[34:57] Speaker 7: most dominant ever. So he but he worked, he worked,
[35:02] Speaker 7: did he work, And I'm glad he did because I
[35:05] Speaker 7: definitely wouldn't have got three without him. I know that, right.
[35:14] Speaker 7: And the last five brothers that was up here, they're
[35:19] Speaker 7: all CEOs, right, but you know why they all get
[35:22] Speaker 7: along one word respect. So I'm sure they have arguments
[35:28] Speaker 7: or beefs or whatever. But as long as the respect
[35:31] Speaker 7: is there, the success will always be there. We had
[35:34] Speaker 7: our differences. He wanted to shoot. I'm like, nah, don't shoot.
[35:37] Speaker 7: Throw it to me.
[35:39] Speaker 3: Respectfully.
[35:41] Speaker 7: True story. We in Massis square guard. I'm at the
[35:44] Speaker 7: free throw line. Halle Berry's walking down the steps. I
[35:49] Speaker 7: had to call a time out, huddle up, Hey, Holly,
[35:58] Speaker 7: here to see me. Don't nobody shoot mother fuck up
[36:00] Speaker 7: at me, Kobe, nobody, No, she hit shoot shoot shoot
[36:06] Speaker 7: that ship and see what happened? One two, three, break
[36:18] Speaker 7: And I made the first one, so I thought I was.
[36:20] Speaker 7: I was like shit, I made it. I missed the
[36:28] Speaker 7: second one, though, but we always just that was our argument.
[36:34] Speaker 7: I shoot, you shoot. That's because you got two CEOs
[36:38] Speaker 7: on the same team. And he was definitely a CEO,
[36:42] Speaker 7: the way he thought, the way he played, and that's
[36:44] Speaker 7: why he's one of the greatest ever. And again I'm
[36:47] Speaker 7: glad I was. I'm glad I was a part of that.
[36:50] Speaker 7: But each individual CEO has their own route. Like the
[36:58] Speaker 7: way he did it is cool. The way I did
[37:00] Speaker 7: it is cool, but you have to create your own route.
[37:03] Speaker 7: Like he never went to the club. I got to
[37:05] Speaker 7: go to the club when I come to. Like when
[37:08] Speaker 7: we was in l a and I'm coming to the Atlanta.
[37:10] Speaker 7: We got a night off, Magic City, Baby, make.
[37:15] Speaker 5: It rain, make it right.
[37:18] Speaker 7: What you think I'm gonna just sit in the room,
[37:20] Speaker 7: No I'm not and focus on the game.
[37:23] Speaker 5: No I'm not.
[37:26] Speaker 7: You know why I got the kembab my tumbo guarden me,
[37:29] Speaker 7: I ain't got to do nothing for that.
[37:32] Speaker 5: What I said, chicken alert, I ain't worry about that.
[37:39] Speaker 8: Speak speaking of Kobe when I when I think of
[37:41] Speaker 8: one of your greatest highlights, it's the crossover at the
[37:44] Speaker 8: top of the key out of you that sends out
[37:45] Speaker 8: to the finals. I want to know what, in your perspective,
[37:50] Speaker 8: what is your greatest highlighting business that's far What's something
[37:54] Speaker 8: that you look at and say, you know what, this
[37:56] Speaker 8: is incredible.
[37:57] Speaker 3: I'm so proud that I did this.
[37:59] Speaker 7: I don't like to seem like I'm bragging. What I'm
[38:03] Speaker 7: gonna ask you a question. Who owns who owns Marilyn Monroe?
[38:13] Speaker 7: Marylyn Monroe?
[38:14] Speaker 5: Playboy?
[38:15] Speaker 7: Who owns Elvis Presley? Who owns Forever twenty one? Who
[38:23] Speaker 7: owns J? C.
[38:24] Speaker 5: Penny Me the Deezer? Yeah, my real.
[38:33] Speaker 8: Hey, stand up for that, y'all Stop playing Stop playing.
[38:39] Speaker 5: Talk heavy talk heavy My real.
[38:42] Speaker 8: Talk to talk to.
[38:46] Speaker 7: So my real business, my real business is our own
[38:50] Speaker 7: fifty brands. So when I was retiring, I'm looking around,
[38:56] Speaker 7: I'm like, how does Michael Jackson and all these guys
[38:58] Speaker 7: live forever? So one of the chapters in the book
[39:01] Speaker 7: Joint Ventureship. So I called the three companies that help
[39:05] Speaker 7: people live forever, and they brought my band for a
[39:08] Speaker 7: lot of money. So I took half that money put
[39:10] Speaker 7: it back in the company. Now I'm the number two
[39:12] Speaker 7: guy in the company. Instead of taking all that money
[39:15] Speaker 7: and just saying, okay, you control fifty percent of my brand, Nope,
[39:19] Speaker 7: I'm gonna put it back in just in case, because
[39:23] Speaker 7: you always got to keep an eye on them, right.
[39:25] Speaker 7: They could have they could have bought my brand and
[39:27] Speaker 7: made me go away, But I'm like, nope, put money
[39:29] Speaker 7: back in the company. Now I own all those other brands.
[39:32] Speaker 7: So if Shot goes away, ship, we still got Elvis.
[39:38] Speaker 7: You ain't nothing butter don't. So that That's how I
[39:44] Speaker 7: was looking at it. Y'all want to see my toes again?
[39:47] Speaker 7: All that throw your toes in the air and away with.
[39:54] Speaker 2: Talk, heavy talk before we leave. I want to, I
[39:57] Speaker 2: want to. I want to end this vibe. You had
[40:01] Speaker 2: the honor of sitting down with a lot of great people.
[40:03] Speaker 2: You uhould do music. You got a bag from music.
[40:06] Speaker 2: But you said that the late great Christopher Wallace, notorious Big.
[40:10] Speaker 2: You had the honor of him doing a song with
[40:13] Speaker 2: you and you say afterwards, your eight And he was
[40:17] Speaker 2: telling you about his dreams, about what he wanted to
[40:20] Speaker 2: do in business, what he wanted to do on entrepreneurship, fatherhood.
[40:24] Speaker 6: He never got a chance to do that. He was
[40:27] Speaker 6: killed when he was twenty four years old.
[40:29] Speaker 2: So people here, can you talk about that and what's
[40:32] Speaker 2: the importance of living for today, taking action today because
[40:38] Speaker 2: tomorrow's not promise, and.
[40:40] Speaker 7: Living for today you take advantage of all opportunities. I
[40:46] Speaker 7: like rapping. I'm not a rapper, right, I know this,
[40:51] Speaker 7: So I go on the on Citio Hall show. I
[40:54] Speaker 7: like being different. I don't want to just come in
[40:56] Speaker 7: a suit and talk. So I say, yo, let me
[40:58] Speaker 7: rap up. My favorite rapper at the time was ful Shnaking.
[41:03] Speaker 7: I killed it. So the next day my agent said,
[41:06] Speaker 7: hey man, these guys want to give you a record deal.
[41:09] Speaker 7: Like now, I'm not interested. Ten million for three albums. Shit,
[41:12] Speaker 7: I'll take it. I'll take it. But then I said,
[41:17] Speaker 7: you know what, they not gonna like me rapping by myself.
[41:20] Speaker 7: Tell him I want to rap it all my favorite rapper,
[41:23] Speaker 7: my favorite rappers. They agreed to it. So I get
[41:26] Speaker 7: a song called you Can Sop the Rain and I'm
[41:30] Speaker 7: riding in the car. I already got my verse done,
[41:33] Speaker 7: and Biggie says my name, I'm slamming brothers like Shaquille,
[41:36] Speaker 7: and I'm like, even though I'm in shock, I'm still
[41:38] Speaker 7: a kid and a fan, I'm a regular person. I'm like, damn,
[41:41] Speaker 7: Biggie know who I am. So I have somebody contact Puff.
[41:45] Speaker 7: I send the jet to go get Biggie. He comes down.
[41:48] Speaker 7: So now I'm like, this is Biggie. I already got
[41:50] Speaker 7: my verse done. And Biggie say, my shit is terrible.
[41:53] Speaker 7: I'm gonna be devastated. So I'm like, and I hit
[42:00] Speaker 7: playing big. He's like, so then I said, yo, here's
[42:06] Speaker 7: a pin in the pad, because I had the studio
[42:08] Speaker 7: at the house pinning in the pad. I'm gonna be
[42:11] Speaker 7: in the house. Let me know when you get done.
[42:13] Speaker 7: He said, no, I'm ready. Now I say what you mean.
[42:16] Speaker 7: He goes in the booth killed it. But it was
[42:19] Speaker 7: real raid and r and I was like, big.
[42:24] Speaker 3: I gotta sell this in Walmart.
[42:27] Speaker 7: I hated to do it too. He said, oh, yeah,
[42:29] Speaker 7: the kids kids, my bad, and then he went and
[42:31] Speaker 7: spit the other verse. But it was just it was
[42:34] Speaker 7: just amazing. And then he was a cool guy. Went
[42:36] Speaker 7: in the house and ate got on the sea. Dude,
[42:38] Speaker 7: he just told me all his dreams. I told him
[42:41] Speaker 7: all my seekers. I told him how to get it done.
[42:43] Speaker 7: And then the next time I see him was the
[42:45] Speaker 7: night before he passed away. He was a good brother.
[42:48] Speaker 7: But moral of the story is take advantage of all
[42:51] Speaker 7: opportunities right now today.
[42:54] Speaker 2: Can we got one more question? Yeah, go ahead, all right,
[42:57] Speaker 2: bonus round. It's called bonus round. It's called the So
[43:01] Speaker 2: we hate a lot of entertainers and athletes they get robbed.
[43:06] Speaker 2: We heard an unfortunate situation with Fatcho. I saw God,
[43:08] Speaker 2: We interviewed them. They give access to that business managers,
[43:12] Speaker 2: they give access to the accountants to pay their bills
[43:14] Speaker 2: for them and all of that.
[43:15] Speaker 6: You learned that early on.
[43:17] Speaker 2: As far as the power of attorney in college, and
[43:19] Speaker 2: you say you're not with that, explain.
[43:21] Speaker 7: That you have to have education to know what you're
[43:24] Speaker 7: looking at. See what I'm saying. So I have the
[43:27] Speaker 7: education to when I feel like I'm getting robbed, I
[43:30] Speaker 7: can go look at the books be like what is
[43:32] Speaker 7: this like. If you don't have education and you put
[43:36] Speaker 7: trust in somebody else, then they can tell you whatever.
[43:39] Speaker 7: So you know, like when I say educate yourself, you
[43:42] Speaker 7: don't have to have a degree. Look at that book,
[43:45] Speaker 7: dummies got how to start your business learn learn about
[43:48] Speaker 7: assets and liabilities, learn about you know what I'm saying,
[43:51] Speaker 7: learn about you know, debts and credit dudes and don'ts.
[43:55] Speaker 7: So that's the first thing I wanted to do. I
[43:58] Speaker 7: got the book. Then I got my bachelor, then I
[44:00] Speaker 7: got my master's. Because every time I go set up
[44:03] Speaker 7: a meeting to be me and my white boys, like
[44:05] Speaker 7: the people be like, hey, shak, how you doing, and
[44:07] Speaker 7: then they turn and start talking to my white boys,
[44:10] Speaker 7: but they don't know I'm in charge. The white boys
[44:12] Speaker 7: were for me. So I said, okay, I got it, y'all.
[44:15] Speaker 7: Don't think I know what I'm talking about. Win got
[44:18] Speaker 7: my masters. So now everybody talk to me, and you
[44:21] Speaker 7: just have to be educated to know what you're looking at.
[44:24] Speaker 5: It's okay to have somebody pay your bills.
[44:26] Speaker 7: But like me, I get something every first and at
[44:29] Speaker 7: fifteenth and it comes straight to my office, which is
[44:32] Speaker 7: my phone. So I go up the room. I like
[44:35] Speaker 7: that hookah up and I'm looking, hey, man, what's happening?
[44:44] Speaker 7: We only saw how many pieces last week. Now, man,
[44:48] Speaker 7: you need to fix you like I know what I'm
[44:49] Speaker 7: looking at. Like again, I can't say we sold a
[44:52] Speaker 7: thousand pieces and then we only sold twenty. No, no, no,
[44:55] Speaker 7: no no, something's wrong with that picture. Let me see you.
[45:00] Speaker 5: Your toes, glass boy.
[45:04] Speaker 7: We're talking about my toe glass boy.
[45:18] Speaker 2: Gotta gott I got you, Oh, Shock, Man, it's been
[45:23] Speaker 2: an honor, a pleasure.
[45:24] Speaker 6: I gotta. My son really wanted to come.
[45:26] Speaker 5: I got a question, huh are you light skin of
[45:29] Speaker 5: brown skin?
[45:30] Speaker 2: Oh?
[45:30] Speaker 5: Hey go here go yeah, because here I'm glad that
[45:34] Speaker 5: shot this son.
[45:34] Speaker 7: All the brown skin homies put your hand up, you
[45:38] Speaker 7: light skin cats, think y'all high y'all niggas ain't hot.
[45:43] Speaker 5: Dark skinned, brown skin. We run this. We run this, Yo,
[45:52] Speaker 5: Play some drake? Better not playing? No drake?
[45:54] Speaker 6: What drake on?
[45:56] Speaker 5: Play some biggie.
[45:57] Speaker 2: We only leave it if drake Come on, Shack, I
[46:00] Speaker 2: gotta ask you what last ding My son loves. He's
[46:03] Speaker 2: ten years old, and I'm like, how you know Shock?
[46:05] Speaker 5: I could tell he like he got pretty lips, pretty team.
[46:08] Speaker 8: Hey you got that shot Shock, that's fuse.
[46:17] Speaker 5: Tell me about pretty boy?
[46:21] Speaker 4: Yo?
[46:22] Speaker 5: I hate you pretty.
[46:26] Speaker 2: Oh my son, my son loves Shack and I'm like,
[46:30] Speaker 2: how you know Shock?
[46:30] Speaker 6: He's ten years old. He's like, Shocking the fool.
[46:33] Speaker 2: So he wanted to come, but he had to stay
[46:35] Speaker 2: in New York for my cousin's graduation. But he's like,
[46:38] Speaker 2: can you just give me a shout out? His name
[46:40] Speaker 2: is not Sid, can you give him a shout out?
[46:43] Speaker 2: Not Si, It like nas, not.
[46:45] Speaker 5: Sir Uncle Shaq.
[46:46] Speaker 7: Want to say, listen to your father, listen to your mama,
[46:49] Speaker 7: and always follow your dreams.
[46:53] Speaker 5: Away.
