[0:24] Speaker 2: What's up? Everybody? Happy to be here? I have some
[0:27] Speaker 2: words for this one. This is this is a good week.
[0:29] Speaker 1: You know, this is not a bad week.
[0:31] Speaker 2: Crazy things to talk about?
[0:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, recon anime? Recon is with us today? What's up?
[0:35] Speaker 3: Bro?
[0:36] Speaker 2: What up?
[0:37] Speaker 3: Boys? It is great to be back and we're gonna
[0:39] Speaker 3: be discussed those some for shitty anime that we just watch.
[0:43] Speaker 4: It's gonna be a fun.
[0:44] Speaker 1: Talk, amazing and with us today we got Marcus my Maud.
[0:50] Speaker 1: What's up brother? How you doing? Hello?
[0:53] Speaker 4: It's good to be here watching for three interesting anime
[0:59] Speaker 4: from this season.
[1:00] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:01] Speaker 4: I've been hearing people say this season is like bad
[1:04] Speaker 4: the slame.
[1:07] Speaker 1: I feel like it doesn't have like as many big hitters,
[1:09] Speaker 1: I guess, but there's a lot of like decent shows.
[1:12] Speaker 1: I really do think a lot of decent shows, and
[1:14] Speaker 1: even by these four which are not exactly like the
[1:17] Speaker 1: most hyped, the most popular, like Crowded on hundred Days,
[1:20] Speaker 1: Good By Laura, Kaiju Girl, and Dodgeball Girl Donco. Some
[1:23] Speaker 1: of these I hadn't even heard of, and they're more
[1:25] Speaker 1: low key, and I still, for the most part, enjoyed
[1:29] Speaker 1: something about all of them.
[1:30] Speaker 2: I say, every chart I've seen is that good Bye Laura,
[1:33] Speaker 2: like number one for for weeks now? Really, yeah, yeah,
[1:37] Speaker 2: it's it's it's been up there. As far as hype
[1:39] Speaker 2: shows on certain websites.
[1:41] Speaker 1: I don't know what websites you're looking at, Good By Laura,
[1:43] Speaker 1: fang club on like I went on, I think it.
[1:47] Speaker 2: I just see a lot of X where it's like
[1:49] Speaker 2: this this week, like this is like the oh God,
[1:51] Speaker 2: I saw that, I saw you three weeks in a row, yeah,
[1:54] Speaker 2: or something like that.
[1:54] Speaker 1: Maybe it's like based on rating or something like actual quality,
[1:57] Speaker 1: because yeah, okay, what do.
[1:59] Speaker 4: You guys this season it's actually like more about romans
[2:05] Speaker 4: and field good anime.
[2:06] Speaker 1: Yes, and because you have less like you have less romans,
[2:10] Speaker 1: you have less of those super hype shown in you
[2:12] Speaker 1: have less of those like Crazy Sakai, although we do
[2:15] Speaker 1: have so I I'm surprised that I think it's actually
[2:19] Speaker 1: a good season.
[2:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been of Life season so far.
[2:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
[2:25] Speaker 2: There's a lot of yeah. Yeah.
[2:28] Speaker 4: If you don't like Slice of Life or like Field
[2:30] Speaker 4: good Stuff or Romans, then a lot of the shows
[2:33] Speaker 4: are like falling off for you.
[2:34] Speaker 1: Yeah that's fair. That's fair. Okay, which which anyway? Do
[2:37] Speaker 1: you guys want to start with first?
[2:41] Speaker 3: From none of them? Because there were all ship.
[2:44] Speaker 1: Okay, let's start off with Crowned in one hundred days.
[2:46] Speaker 1: It's my pick. It was my recommendation, even though technically
[2:49] Speaker 1: Marcus recommended to me. I love the first episode, so
[2:53] Speaker 1: I wanted to watch more. I had some opinions, but
[2:56] Speaker 1: I want to hear your guys' thoughts first. Since it
[2:57] Speaker 1: was my recommendation.
[3:00] Speaker 4: I saw that I think Jordan should start.
[3:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, what are your words? He's gonna hate on it.
[3:09] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[3:10] Speaker 2: You know the thing about this anime is it wasn't
[3:12] Speaker 2: It wasn't awful, it wasn't atrocious, but I don't think
[3:14] Speaker 2: it was good. I'd actually say it was pretty bad.
[3:17] Speaker 2: Like whenever I was watching it. I it felt like
[3:19] Speaker 2: it was made for like like the TikTok Zoomer Brain,
[3:22] Speaker 2: where it had shorter episodes and it had to throw
[3:26] Speaker 2: like two or three crazy plot twists that are just
[3:29] Speaker 2: like for shock value in the first episode, and even then,
[3:31] Speaker 2: like I didn't really care, like as it was happening,
[3:33] Speaker 2: like I watched it, I followed it. I even had
[3:37] Speaker 2: to rewind some parts and stuff to make sure I
[3:38] Speaker 2: was tracking. But like it just I don't know. I
[3:41] Speaker 2: couldn't get into this one. I hate to say it.
[3:44] Speaker 1: I'm actually in agreeance with Jordan here, although the only
[3:47] Speaker 1: thing I disagree about is I really enjoyed the first episode.
[3:49] Speaker 1: I thought it was all right, the twist, the crazy
[3:54] Speaker 1: twist with the like the family being slaughtered and then
[3:57] Speaker 1: the king's like a fake king, and then the other
[3:59] Speaker 1: like whatever the real display soul goes into our main character.
[4:03] Speaker 1: I thought it did a good job catching people's attention
[4:05] Speaker 1: and getting you interested in what's to come. Unfortunately, what's
[4:09] Speaker 1: to come I didn't enjoy that much.
[4:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I don't think we were saying different
[4:13] Speaker 2: things there per se. Like I said it, it has
[4:15] Speaker 2: that certain appeal, right, but like you said, it's trying
[4:17] Speaker 2: to grab people's attention, and it feels like people's attention
[4:20] Speaker 2: spans have gotten shorter, right, Yeah, it's like trying it's
[4:21] Speaker 2: best to do that quick.
[4:23] Speaker 1: So it's like, but I do think that adds value
[4:26] Speaker 1: to a first episode, right, you could have an amazing show,
[4:29] Speaker 1: but if the first episode is boring, it doesn't catch
[4:31] Speaker 1: people's attention.
[4:31] Speaker 2: It's not I don't know, it's just a product of
[4:35] Speaker 2: like I guess today's environment. Yes, eighty show is coming
[4:38] Speaker 2: out in a season you want to you want to
[4:39] Speaker 2: capture that audience right away, right, So I get it.
[4:42] Speaker 2: But yeah, overall, like first episode was pretty al right,
[4:44] Speaker 2: just from down there, I don't know.
[4:46] Speaker 1: I'm also I'm always a fan of like that, like
[4:50] Speaker 1: the subversion where like everything seems cool and nice and wholesome,
[4:53] Speaker 1: and then like it doesn't go like ten percent darker,
[4:57] Speaker 1: or it doesn't go like, oh it's starting to pick up.
[5:00] Speaker 1: I do love that like immediate like like episode three
[5:04] Speaker 1: of Medoka Magic type moment, or like it goes like
[5:08] Speaker 1: a full a full one to eighty.
[5:10] Speaker 2: Like I'm usually a pretty big fan of like darker
[5:13] Speaker 2: plot twists and stuff. I don't mind stuff like that.
[5:16] Speaker 2: But I was invested prior. Okay, Like I thought it
[5:18] Speaker 2: was kind of funny. I think in law he's like,
[5:23] Speaker 2: you know what, He's like, No, don't say that if
[5:25] Speaker 2: you're hitting on my mom. And then it was like
[5:27] Speaker 2: a weird scenario there where they were running a restaurant.
[5:30] Speaker 2: It was good vibes for a little bit, but it
[5:32] Speaker 2: was just it felt too short.
[5:33] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I think that's fair. It was very very fast.
[5:36] Speaker 1: It happened if it happened in episode two or something
[5:39] Speaker 1: that could have, or it.
[5:40] Speaker 2: Was an episode and then it happened halfway through or.
[5:43] Speaker 1: Something right like, it's there. It was fast. You're you
[5:45] Speaker 1: are right? It was fast. I do. I do think
[5:47] Speaker 1: it caught my attention and I was down for more.
[5:49] Speaker 1: And at the end, at the end of the day,
[5:52] Speaker 1: I just I started to fall off. I didn't enjoy
[5:54] Speaker 1: it as much.
[5:55] Speaker 2: I dropped this one.
[5:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it the drop for me. I think
[5:59] Speaker 1: it to drop for me. You guys, Recon, what are
[6:03] Speaker 1: your thoughts on Crown in one hundred days? Recon?
[6:08] Speaker 3: I watch I watch a good amount of Dona, especially
[6:12] Speaker 3: you know, like The King's Avatar, The Daily Life of
[6:14] Speaker 3: the Immortal King, and I genuinely think like those two
[6:17] Speaker 3: shows and as an example, is just way better than
[6:19] Speaker 3: this one, Like.
[6:20] Speaker 1: This one's avatar.
[6:26] Speaker 3: Look, while this had good animation and all that stuff,
[6:30] Speaker 3: like you guys said, it's so freaking boring. It's so slow,
[6:34] Speaker 3: nothing really is happening most of the time. But when
[6:38] Speaker 3: the stuff does happen, you know, the action is pretty
[6:41] Speaker 3: damn good. It's gory visually, you know, epic and all that.
[6:45] Speaker 3: But and I don't know, like they say it rewards patients.
[6:51] Speaker 3: I guess you could. You could say that it rewards patients,
[6:53] Speaker 3: but you got to have that patience until it gets there.
[6:56] Speaker 3: And unfortunately, not a lot of people are going to
[6:58] Speaker 3: have that because you guys mentioned attention span these days
[7:02] Speaker 3: are very low. So yeah, a lot of people I
[7:05] Speaker 3: think are going to click out this, uh click out
[7:07] Speaker 3: of this anime.
[7:08] Speaker 4: But I'm still watched. It's it's solid.
[7:12] Speaker 1: Why do you think and you need patients for this anime?
[7:15] Speaker 1: Not episode one obviously the later episodes. Maybe the later
[7:18] Speaker 1: episodes has some slower moments.
[7:19] Speaker 3: You're saying, yeah, yeah, it doesn't.
[7:23] Speaker 4: It's slow.
[7:23] Speaker 3: This anime is slow. It's not fast paced, but it
[7:26] Speaker 3: means necessary. But you gotta have patience until it gets there,
[7:30] Speaker 3: kind of like let's say, you know the uh the
[7:35] Speaker 3: meeting episodes from like let the ring Carne is a slime,
[7:39] Speaker 3: Like it's like that pretty much like you get you
[7:41] Speaker 3: get an episode like where nothing happens, in the next
[7:43] Speaker 3: episode where nothing happens, and then the episode when something happens.
[7:46] Speaker 3: It's like, you gotta have that patience every week.
[7:49] Speaker 2: It's an interesting take would say that, like it's better
[7:52] Speaker 2: later on because I only watched the first three.
[7:54] Speaker 3: I will yeah, if it picks up, it picks up,
[7:56] Speaker 3: But for starters, it's it's very slow.
[7:59] Speaker 1: It does seem as well that since they have one
[8:01] Speaker 1: hundred days, right, they have one hundred days. It really
[8:05] Speaker 1: is like crazy shit happened at the beginning, and now
[8:08] Speaker 1: it's like we're gonna slowly work our way into the
[8:11] Speaker 1: capitol and slowly scheme and make some money and do
[8:13] Speaker 1: this so that we could do that. I don't know.
[8:16] Speaker 2: I will say there were some wild moments in that
[8:18] Speaker 2: first episode though, like not even like the shock like
[8:22] Speaker 2: twists and stuff, but like even prior to that, it's
[8:24] Speaker 2: like the King is like is the villain right? He
[8:27] Speaker 2: shows up? He's like you I like you give me
[8:31] Speaker 2: your daughter, and they're like, she's not even of age.
[8:33] Speaker 2: He's like, you know, I'll wait, like and I'm like,
[8:36] Speaker 2: I'll wait. Is wild.
[8:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like that.
[8:39] Speaker 2: And then whenever the old girl, the witch that saves
[8:42] Speaker 2: him is talking about like finding the king, the king's
[8:45] Speaker 2: actual soul and stuff, She's like, yeah, I was out
[8:47] Speaker 2: picking picking herbs and stuff, and I just found it there.
[8:49] Speaker 2: And I'm like, that's all the elaboration we're ever gonna
[8:51] Speaker 2: get on this story? Is that? Is that what you're
[8:53] Speaker 2: telling you?
[8:53] Speaker 1: You just floating around? He was just floating around, and
[8:56] Speaker 1: he was she was picking herbs, and he found one
[8:58] Speaker 1: one more thing, the decapitation of that which another second
[9:04] Speaker 1: plot one other.
[9:05] Speaker 2: Plot LISTA she looked so cool.
[9:09] Speaker 1: I did like that when she immediately all right, Marcus,
[9:13] Speaker 1: you typically recommended that I watch it. What are your
[9:16] Speaker 1: thoughts on Crowns in one hundred days?
[9:18] Speaker 4: So I'm interested that basically all of you three say
[9:22] Speaker 4: it's kind of slow. For like twelve minutes or so,
[9:28] Speaker 4: it's pretty fast. Like first episode, it's like introducing you
[9:31] Speaker 4: to the duo of the king soul and our main character.
[9:36] Speaker 4: In the second episode, they quickly meet the mother say
[9:41] Speaker 4: stuff like that, then move and then the main guy says,
[9:46] Speaker 4: I know someone who could help us because we are
[9:49] Speaker 4: only two or one, and then it's the guy and
[9:53] Speaker 4: then with a spell. I had also had the same
[9:57] Speaker 4: exact thought that you have, Like the spell sounds so stupid,
[10:02] Speaker 4: but he makes it sound cool as well. Yeah, I
[10:05] Speaker 4: really like that one. In the third episode, it's like, uh,
[10:09] Speaker 4: the mage says, oh, yeah, I have this really cool
[10:11] Speaker 4: book get.
[10:12] Speaker 1: Better, Get Good.
[10:14] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, get Good, and he mistook it for a
[10:16] Speaker 4: get Better. Oh wow, I mistook it. We have to
[10:19] Speaker 4: get the book. And now he is in the castle
[10:22] Speaker 4: that's where episode three ends, and he's probably about to
[10:25] Speaker 4: get the book. I would assume Ricon has seen more.
[10:28] Speaker 4: So I've only seen the first three episodes.
[10:30] Speaker 1: I will say, Marcus, it's good. I think. Sorry just
[10:35] Speaker 1: to interrupt for a second, just to correct. I think
[10:38] Speaker 1: me and Jordan both acknowledged how fast the anime was
[10:42] Speaker 1: at first. Within the first episode, everything gets set up
[10:46] Speaker 1: very quickly, and then maybe afterwards it starts to have
[10:50] Speaker 1: because then he has to kind of reset and start
[10:53] Speaker 1: working on this plot. It does feel like it slows
[10:55] Speaker 1: down a little bit after that.
[10:57] Speaker 4: Yeah, anyway, you have to write.
[11:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, because he said you can't maintain that.
[11:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, because now you have to think, how do we
[11:09] Speaker 4: get that? You can't just go in it's the same studio.
[11:13] Speaker 3: Also that did link Click and also to.
[11:16] Speaker 1: The hero X Link Click is a Chinese anime, right, Yeah,
[11:20] Speaker 1: that's my number one favorite Chinese season three.
[11:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, season three is airing you. Season four coming soon, So.
[11:31] Speaker 4: I think it's it's it's fine. It's obviously not the
[11:33] Speaker 4: best show this season. I would not call it the
[11:36] Speaker 4: best show, and I will also not call it like
[11:39] Speaker 4: a must watch, but I think for like like an
[11:43] Speaker 4: anime short that's not miss it's definitely one of the
[11:46] Speaker 4: better ones.
[11:48] Speaker 2: I will say. I did laugh whenever the king was
[11:52] Speaker 2: saying how he didn't have any magic, and you know,
[11:54] Speaker 2: he didn't have any man like, we're kind of expecting that,
[11:57] Speaker 2: and then he does the spell. He's like, what the heck?
[11:59] Speaker 2: Like you you have magic? He's like, oh, I never
[12:01] Speaker 2: said it, right, Like the king was illiterate, right.
[12:03] Speaker 1: So yeah, and yeah, he was still insanely powerful just
[12:07] Speaker 1: because he was like this through blue force and technique
[12:09] Speaker 1: and stuff like that, he was so strong and he
[12:11] Speaker 1: couldn't use magic, but he actually could use magic. He
[12:13] Speaker 1: just was he didn't couldn't remember the spells.
[12:16] Speaker 2: That's relatable. I don't think I remember that either.
[12:18] Speaker 1: It was a long spell.
[12:20] Speaker 2: Oh man, I remember.
[12:24] Speaker 4: And then and then to shoot it like.
[12:28] Speaker 1: Exactly exactly I thought off of I thought of off
[12:32] Speaker 1: of episode one it was going to be a must watch,
[12:35] Speaker 1: just for like the twists and turns and the fast
[12:37] Speaker 1: paced and the excited moments. But then, yeah, nice, I
[12:40] Speaker 1: kind of lost interest. Freakon, what were we gonna say?
[12:44] Speaker 3: I already said it that it's the same studio that
[12:47] Speaker 3: did link click on to be hero true.
[12:49] Speaker 1: Got it all right, I'm ready to move on thoughts.
[12:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, let's was like in order of like at least
[12:57] Speaker 2: like if you had to give this like a one
[12:58] Speaker 2: to four based on the other shows we're talking about,
[13:01] Speaker 2: What do you guys?
[13:01] Speaker 3: How about we finished all the shows and then we rank.
[13:04] Speaker 1: We can give it a number. Though, I can give
[13:05] Speaker 1: it a number. Let me let me think, Uh.
[13:08] Speaker 2: It's four, it's this is the worst one from the
[13:10] Speaker 2: week that we just talked to from here.
[13:12] Speaker 1: I think I got it at three.
[13:15] Speaker 4: I would put it in three as well.
[13:19] Speaker 1: Two.
[13:20] Speaker 4: Two, Okay, interesting, it's not it's not the greatest thing.
[13:26] Speaker 1: All right, guys, you guys ready for Goodbye Laura? A
[13:29] Speaker 1: mermaid princess is basically Little Mermaid who died after a
[13:33] Speaker 1: field romance and is reincarnated. They found a way to
[13:36] Speaker 1: make the Little Mermaid or I guess not really, but
[13:39] Speaker 1: it's the best guy of the season.
[13:43] Speaker 3: Look at me in the face without telling me that
[13:45] Speaker 3: this is just a fucking rip off of Disney's Little Mermaid.
[13:48] Speaker 1: It is, but Disney's Little Mermaid is also based off
[13:51] Speaker 1: of a book, so they're technically both based off of
[13:52] Speaker 1: a book. I guess.
[13:55] Speaker 2: Origin. It's that same origin story in episode one, right.
[13:59] Speaker 1: Same origin story, but then they took it into Japan
[14:02] Speaker 1: and anime version for sure. So with with the with
[14:07] Speaker 1: the boxing punch right like, she gets like a little
[14:11] Speaker 1: more may gets punched in the face by like a
[14:13] Speaker 1: high school anime girl with a boxing glove. But yeah,
[14:19] Speaker 1: what do you call she had? Two hundred years later,
[14:21] Speaker 1: she still she gets reincardated and she needs she has
[14:23] Speaker 1: another chance to find true love. Go ahead, Marcus.
[14:29] Speaker 4: First off, this is directly an homage to a Little Mermaid.
[14:34] Speaker 4: And I think the first episode at the end essay
[14:37] Speaker 4: in Loving Memory to was a w Anderson something I
[14:44] Speaker 4: don't remember.
[14:44] Speaker 1: The author or the director.
[14:46] Speaker 4: I think that's the author. I don't know. I don't
[14:49] Speaker 4: remember the excitment about it said in loving memory or
[14:52] Speaker 4: like in remembrance of the author. So this is directly
[14:56] Speaker 4: like anime a Little Mermaid with a twist, because if
[14:59] Speaker 4: you just make a Little mermaids uh kind of boring.
[15:02] Speaker 4: You know already seen a Little Mermaid. So they gotta
[15:05] Speaker 4: spin it a little bit. And I think in terms
[15:09] Speaker 4: of all the anime this season, this one is probably
[15:15] Speaker 4: then out that I would say this one is definitely
[15:18] Speaker 4: a worth watch. So the before everyone.
[15:23] Speaker 1: One thing, Marcus. Just to answer your question, the original
[15:25] Speaker 1: The Little Mermaid fairy Tale was written by Hans Christian Anderson,
[15:30] Speaker 1: a Danish author, and was publishing in eighteen thirty second.
[15:35] Speaker 4: Okay, so that was the name. This is like since
[15:39] Speaker 4: this is also an original uh site? Was it science Startle?
[15:44] Speaker 4: It's kit It's like, so they made this directly with
[15:49] Speaker 4: a Little Murmaid in mind, which is I think it's
[15:53] Speaker 4: a really cool idea to just take all these Disney
[15:58] Speaker 4: shows and give a little twist to make it more interesting,
[16:02] Speaker 4: to make it also a little bit more modern, and
[16:05] Speaker 4: I think that could be like a really cool idea
[16:08] Speaker 4: to make future anime that are original in a sense
[16:12] Speaker 4: and they offer something interesting some what's that? What's it
[16:18] Speaker 4: called psychological stuff? There's a lot of things you can
[16:24] Speaker 4: do with the concept of like, for example, snow white
[16:28] Speaker 4: or glass slippers thing, you know, yeah, or beauty and
[16:34] Speaker 4: the Beast. There there's a lot you can do with it,
[16:37] Speaker 4: for sure, And I think this one does a pretty
[16:39] Speaker 4: good job. I'm interested to see how this one is
[16:43] Speaker 4: gonna continue, because there seems to be some interesting things,
[16:47] Speaker 4: especially with the Actually I watched a little bit further. John,
[16:53] Speaker 4: you have seen up to I think three episodes, so
[16:58] Speaker 4: you haven't seen the giant fish in the sky.
[17:01] Speaker 2: Oh, I saw it. Giant fish.
[17:07] Speaker 4: That's interesting?
[17:09] Speaker 2: Is that?
[17:09] Speaker 1: All right? Let's hear I think it's pretty good. Okay,
[17:12] Speaker 1: let's hear Recon's take on Goodbye Laura.
[17:16] Speaker 3: All Right, this is pretty much just a little mermaid
[17:21] Speaker 3: in a modern day Japanese Japanese setting pretty much.
[17:26] Speaker 4: So.
[17:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, Lara is basically aerial, and she takes a potion
[17:31] Speaker 3: from quote unquote Ursula and she turns into a human
[17:37] Speaker 3: and she's pretty much just trying to find her true
[17:39] Speaker 3: love to save her kingdom and she's trying to navigate
[17:42] Speaker 3: the world and it's complexities, learning about humans and all
[17:46] Speaker 3: that shit. And yeah, it just goes into like a
[17:49] Speaker 3: like a high school life.
[17:51] Speaker 1: Yes, one more important note when she becomes a human,
[17:55] Speaker 1: when she starts to turn back into a mermaid, the
[17:58] Speaker 1: prince like rejects her and the failed romance and then
[18:02] Speaker 1: basically the entire they had Like I guess they had
[18:05] Speaker 1: a rule about mermaids not going to going to land
[18:08] Speaker 1: or whatever, and it kind of cursed the entire kingdom.
[18:11] Speaker 1: And then she got she died and got reincarnated or something.
[18:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, they weren't.
[18:18] Speaker 1: The rest of the rest of them are like like
[18:21] Speaker 1: kind of like sealed the weighing clams with magic.
[18:24] Speaker 4: I thought they I think.
[18:28] Speaker 1: Okay, the title I mean says this.
[18:33] Speaker 4: Is an original.
[18:35] Speaker 1: Nothing is fucking original about this.
[18:38] Speaker 2: Everything after one, even like the second.
[18:41] Speaker 1: Half episode two onward, its definitely original.
[18:44] Speaker 4: I see, I see where coming from because of this
[18:47] Speaker 4: is it's just a mirage.
[18:50] Speaker 3: It's literally just a little mermaid. There's nothing original about this.
[18:53] Speaker 1: Okay. But by that note, the one piece of anime
[18:55] Speaker 1: is not original because it's based off of the one
[18:58] Speaker 1: piece Mangas the same original.
[19:05] Speaker 4: Then I would say, like novel adaptation.
[19:09] Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, I would say was based off a
[19:12] Speaker 3: manga adaptation, but Nitrus is saying that this is an
[19:15] Speaker 3: anime original original, no source material. There was a source
[19:20] Speaker 3: material for this, you know, okay Mermaid, So yeah.
[19:26] Speaker 2: Usually I will say though, like even if there was
[19:28] Speaker 2: like a novel for it from like the eighteen hundreds
[19:30] Speaker 2: and stuff, a lot of times anime originals like it
[19:33] Speaker 2: basically means they're not using like a manga or light
[19:34] Speaker 2: novel that everybody's like, kind of I see what you're saying,
[19:37] Speaker 2: but like.
[19:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I I I do agree here with three cons.
[19:41] Speaker 1: But I will say, you know, it's based off of
[19:43] Speaker 1: the Little Mermaid. After episode one, it's really not like.
[19:48] Speaker 3: It just goes it just goes into fucking Japanese high
[19:51] Speaker 3: school life and ship. It's just like, but I'm not
[19:54] Speaker 3: gonna lie I dropped this one. I'm kind of like, yeah,
[20:01] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[20:02] Speaker 4: It's like.
[20:04] Speaker 3: Seeing it seen too many fucking rom comms, man seen
[20:07] Speaker 3: too many, so yeah, just the rom com fatigue. Like
[20:13] Speaker 3: it started off as decent even though it's like Little
[20:15] Speaker 3: or Mermaid, but then I'm like, oh, I see where
[20:17] Speaker 3: this is going. It's just gonna be a rom com
[20:19] Speaker 3: high school series until she finds her trool Off, brings
[20:22] Speaker 3: them back to the Kingdom and saves ye.
[20:25] Speaker 2: I feel like there wasn't even really any like rom
[20:29] Speaker 2: com high school stuff in that first those first three
[20:31] Speaker 2: episodes though, like it was at first somebody showed me
[20:35] Speaker 2: this show because they sent me a clip like the
[20:36] Speaker 2: boxing scene at the end of episode three. I was like,
[20:38] Speaker 2: all right, I'm hooked. And it took a while to
[20:40] Speaker 2: get there, but like for you that it's almost like
[20:42] Speaker 2: a reverse Isakai right where she's coming into our world
[20:45] Speaker 2: as like a new world, and she's just shook by
[20:47] Speaker 2: all the different like things that she has no idea about,
[20:50] Speaker 2: all these little things going on. The radio throws it
[20:52] Speaker 2: out the window right away. She I have wondering around,
[20:56] Speaker 2: like the cars, what are these?
[20:57] Speaker 1: I have two questions recon First, out of the four,
[21:01] Speaker 1: where do you rank.
[21:02] Speaker 3: It this well? Since I dropped it the lowest.
[21:08] Speaker 1: So four out of four? And then second question ricon
[21:12] Speaker 1: how much did you watch? Did you just watch the
[21:14] Speaker 1: first episode realized it was like like a little more
[21:16] Speaker 1: made and then drop it two? You watch two? Okay?
[21:21] Speaker 1: Because it's definitely from from my impression, it's gonna be
[21:25] Speaker 1: a Yuri the romance, right.
[21:28] Speaker 4: Actually, it's it could be both. It could be both
[21:31] Speaker 4: because yeah, because.
[21:33] Speaker 1: Because Fisher bisexual.
[21:36] Speaker 4: Tag, that's attack okay, yeah, so and the things especially
[21:45] Speaker 4: towards like I think episode six, the Prince is shown, Oh,
[21:51] Speaker 4: basically a reincarnation of the Prince, so it goes either way.
[21:55] Speaker 1: Oh that's cool, that's cool.
[21:56] Speaker 4: It's probably it's probably gonna be her like seeing different
[22:01] Speaker 4: elements of love, and because this is her second time
[22:07] Speaker 4: as a human. First time failed and that's what caused
[22:11] Speaker 4: all this whole issue, and now she has still really like,
[22:16] Speaker 4: well what is love? And is it even possible to
[22:19] Speaker 4: find the Prince again? And someone who basically looks like
[22:22] Speaker 4: the Prince is shown in episode six.
[22:26] Speaker 1: All right.
[22:27] Speaker 2: One thing you got to keep in mind with tags
[22:28] Speaker 2: and stuff too, is like when it's an anime original,
[22:31] Speaker 2: like people are kind of guessing, like as the episodes
[22:33] Speaker 2: come out dated and whatnot, and so they probably I
[22:38] Speaker 2: was like, okay, definitely, yeah, Prince in episode one was like,
[22:41] Speaker 2: I'm not into the whole fish half thing, you know,
[22:43] Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not freaky like that. But then Mari.
[22:45] Speaker 2: We meet her in episode two and she's like, I
[22:47] Speaker 2: like two things. I like boxing and I like my fish.
[22:52] Speaker 2: It's like, all right, I see the true love.
[22:56] Speaker 3: This might be it.
[22:58] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think it's it's like either way.
[23:03] Speaker 3: Well at the end, and I can definitely tell that
[23:05] Speaker 3: her her parents back at home are going to be
[23:07] Speaker 3: like so disappointed because they're looking for a prince, not
[23:11] Speaker 3: not a girl for her to bring.
[23:17] Speaker 4: So this is like forbidden, you.
[23:19] Speaker 2: Cannot marry a girl.
[23:22] Speaker 4: But I think the saving the kid.
[23:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, they just want people to live at this point,
[23:32] Speaker 1: quick thing, Jordan, do you have it at number one?
[23:35] Speaker 2: I do have it at number one.
[23:36] Speaker 1: I also have it. I also have it at number one.
[23:39] Speaker 2: Like her, you guys, tending to get back home after
[23:43] Speaker 2: being lost in this new world where she feels so
[23:45] Speaker 2: alone and like trying to swim down into the water
[23:48] Speaker 2: but like not understanding, like I can't breathe, like what
[23:50] Speaker 2: like the water that has always been so at home
[23:52] Speaker 2: for her just feels so foreign. Things like that. That
[23:54] Speaker 2: was heartbreaking, right.
[23:56] Speaker 1: I Also I think it was the end of episode three,
[23:58] Speaker 1: obviously we get we gotta we gotta little boxing match,
[24:01] Speaker 1: and I do like that side character. I cannot remember
[24:03] Speaker 1: her name though, what's her name? So I don't remember
[24:06] Speaker 1: her name. I think it was Mari Mari mariy not
[24:10] Speaker 1: the rival, just like the the not the main character,
[24:13] Speaker 1: the other one. Anyway, I wasn't gonna say I lost
[24:18] Speaker 1: my train of thought. Oh wait, at the end of
[24:20] Speaker 1: episode three, there's that moment where Laura like feels that connection.
[24:24] Speaker 1: Like I don't I remember exactly what happened. I watched
[24:26] Speaker 1: it a week ago, but I remember it was like
[24:28] Speaker 1: cool animation and and stuff like that. And that's when
[24:31] Speaker 1: I realized, like this might be a Yuri.
[24:34] Speaker 2: It might be.
[24:36] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[24:37] Speaker 4: Do you remember what.
[24:37] Speaker 1: Happened at the end of episode three, Jordan.
[24:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, like something that kind of rose up and felt
[24:41] Speaker 2: like or rose up like into the sky and then
[24:44] Speaker 2: like simply that somehow alive as well and stuff, like
[24:47] Speaker 2: realized she like Laura had woken up and like she
[24:50] Speaker 2: like went to find like her necklace that Laura had dropped,
[24:52] Speaker 2: and like the necklace was like it looked clearer to me,
[24:55] Speaker 2: I like where it was kind of like clouded over before,
[24:58] Speaker 2: Like it might be because she's kind have found in
[25:01] Speaker 2: England of what might be love. I don't know that.
[25:06] Speaker 1: That's what I interpreted as well. Okay, yeah, can.
[25:10] Speaker 3: We talk about overflow dub.
[25:13] Speaker 1: Overflow got an official dub.
[25:17] Speaker 2: I bet you you know what led to that, recom
[25:19] Speaker 2: putting it on his top one hundred list. Somebody's all that,
[25:21] Speaker 2: They're like, there's.
[25:22] Speaker 1: This, we need this in English, we needed in English. Yeah,
[25:26] Speaker 1: so you mean what I watched was a fan dub.
[25:28] Speaker 1: God damn it.
[25:30] Speaker 4: So I would put this one at two.
[25:34] Speaker 1: Oh too. Okay, which one do you have above it?
[25:37] Speaker 1: We will see, Okay, okay. Dodgeball Girl Donko a super
[25:43] Speaker 1: over the top sports comedy about Donko trying to rebuild
[25:46] Speaker 1: her school's dodgeball team, and it's ridiculous. It's absolutely ridiculous.
[25:51] Speaker 2: I have I have some words for Marcus on this one.
[25:52] Speaker 2: All right, two words. The second one is you, and
[25:57] Speaker 2: the first one is thank thank you. This was a
[26:01] Speaker 2: really good recommendation.
[26:03] Speaker 4: I love the show this is that it has on
[26:06] Speaker 4: and it's like fifty six percent.
[26:09] Speaker 2: I kind of can because I feel like it's crazyybody,
[26:12] Speaker 2: but like I really enjoyed it.
[26:14] Speaker 4: So okay, you can like dislike a show because of us,
[26:17] Speaker 4: like things you don't enjoy or something. But fifty six. Yeah,
[26:22] Speaker 4: I could understand that if the animation is terrible or
[26:25] Speaker 4: if the character like.
[26:28] Speaker 2: Very few people that watch it too, so that's gonna
[26:30] Speaker 2: skew things a lot. So true. True, But yeah, I.
[26:36] Speaker 4: Recommend the show. But who's.
[26:42] Speaker 2: Oh no, I was I was saying, I'm curious to
[26:43] Speaker 2: everybody else's thoughts on this, because I could gush about
[26:45] Speaker 2: it for a while.
[26:45] Speaker 1: I have a lot of like I think, then go ahead,
[26:49] Speaker 1: I'm saying, very briefly say, I think it was very fun.
[26:52] Speaker 1: It was very fun. It felt like a nineties anime,
[26:56] Speaker 1: definitely like more of a kid's anime. But I also
[26:59] Speaker 1: think part of the reason why it's so lowly rated
[27:02] Speaker 1: is because I think it's easy to judge it by
[27:05] Speaker 1: like its appearance very like I don't know, obviously it's
[27:08] Speaker 1: not for everyone, but you watch the first episode and
[27:10] Speaker 1: you see a bunch of kids running around throwing dodgeballs.
[27:13] Speaker 1: But like the art style is super super weird. Like
[27:16] Speaker 1: I like the the aesthetic of like it kind of
[27:18] Speaker 1: kind of feels old. But yeah, the body type, the
[27:21] Speaker 1: body types with like the moay faces is just not
[27:23] Speaker 1: forever right, And I'm actually a hater of that. I
[27:26] Speaker 1: fucking hate moy faces. But you know what, at least
[27:29] Speaker 1: at least they're actually children in this one. I hate
[27:33] Speaker 1: when it's like a forty three actually a lot even
[27:34] Speaker 1: though the grandmother looks moway so like, I think that's
[27:38] Speaker 1: my pet peeve. My pet peeve is when there's like
[27:40] Speaker 1: a twenty thirty forty fifty year old person and they
[27:44] Speaker 1: like look really really young with the moy face. But
[27:46] Speaker 1: if they actually belong like like kaon kaon being Moe
[27:51] Speaker 1: or like even like the kids in this thing being
[27:53] Speaker 1: Moe is completely fine because they're actually kids.
[27:57] Speaker 2: Oh man.
[27:59] Speaker 1: Anyway, that's my take. I'm not surprised it's lowly rated,
[28:02] Speaker 1: but I did do think it was a lot of
[28:03] Speaker 1: a lot of fun and I kind of want to
[28:04] Speaker 1: watch the original because, by the way, guys, this is
[28:06] Speaker 1: like a sequel kind of I guess to an older
[28:10] Speaker 1: shown in where like the dads like these are their
[28:12] Speaker 1: daughters essentially. Also, the two dads apparently died, and I
[28:16] Speaker 1: I want to know who the villain is that killed
[28:18] Speaker 1: them or they maybe the two the two rivals killed
[28:20] Speaker 1: each other in an a tent and in a very
[28:22] Speaker 1: intense dodgeball match.
[28:23] Speaker 2: Maybe maybe we do get some flashbacks where he's like
[28:26] Speaker 2: at least with his daughter, right, so I guess it
[28:28] Speaker 2: would have been like after she was born. Yeah, yeah, ways,
[28:31] Speaker 2: but uh man, this show man go ahead. It's so
[28:37] Speaker 2: I love this show called Major right, and it's one
[28:39] Speaker 2: of those shows where had like six seasons, one hundred
[28:41] Speaker 2: and fifty episodes. It was like a classic uh shown
[28:44] Speaker 2: in sports anime. And I loved it, and most people
[28:46] Speaker 2: don't know about it because, uh, you know, it never
[28:49] Speaker 2: got an adaptation like legally or a translation like legally
[28:53] Speaker 2: or otherwise, Like there's there's never really produced over here
[28:56] Speaker 2: in any way. And then Major Second came out and
[28:58] Speaker 2: it was on crunchy roll and there's a bunch of
[29:00] Speaker 2: people watching it. They're like, wait, there's a there's a
[29:02] Speaker 2: whole six seasons of anime prior to this, and they
[29:05] Speaker 2: were shocked. Now I know how those people feel, now, Okay,
[29:08] Speaker 2: Like yeah, it's one of those where we never received
[29:10] Speaker 2: like any type of way to read or watch this right,
[29:13] Speaker 2: Like it wasn't legally or otherwise. I can't I couldn't
[29:15] Speaker 2: even find any scans of this manga from like the eighties,
[29:19] Speaker 2: but we do get those flashbacks at the end where
[29:21] Speaker 2: are not flashbacks like those little tidbits where they're teaching
[29:24] Speaker 2: a lesson on like what did happen, Like here's all
[29:26] Speaker 2: about the family, et cetera. And that feels a little
[29:29] Speaker 2: bit like a time capsule right where we're appreciating like
[29:31] Speaker 2: what kind of what what came before? So, I don't know,
[29:34] Speaker 2: I love that part of it.
[29:35] Speaker 1: I didn't really get to see the ones after the opening.
[29:37] Speaker 1: I didn't watch it. That's usually when I went to
[29:39] Speaker 1: go get my breakfast.
[29:44] Speaker 4: Uh yeah, ricon, do you want to continue?
[29:47] Speaker 1: Oh to answer someone in chat real quick, is that
[29:48] Speaker 1: the Baseball one? Major is the Baseball one and then Major?
[29:52] Speaker 1: Is it Major second?
[29:54] Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah? Major second would be the one that's on
[29:56] Speaker 2: crunchy role that like people kind of saw and then
[29:57] Speaker 2: they're like, yeah, what, there's one before this?
[30:00] Speaker 1: And then I love Major, big fan. Thank you Jordan
[30:02] Speaker 1: for recommending it to me. Dodgeball Girl Donko. Surprisingly enough,
[30:05] Speaker 1: it is about dodgeball, Yeah.
[30:08] Speaker 2: I mean the Dodgeball movie. If you can dodge a ranch,
[30:10] Speaker 2: you could dodge a ball like this had that same
[30:12] Speaker 2: type of level of over the top this where it's
[30:14] Speaker 2: just I don't know. I enjoyed episode one, but then
[30:18] Speaker 2: episode two came and we get a girl with you know,
[30:21] Speaker 2: like you said them away face, but I assumed she
[30:23] Speaker 2: was a vampire because she like stole Jonathan Joe Starr's
[30:26] Speaker 2: body or something.
[30:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, literally, bro.
[30:30] Speaker 2: And everything's still over the top and unseerious, Like one
[30:34] Speaker 2: of the little girl's names is Chinko, which is like
[30:36] Speaker 2: that's just how kids say penis or like like it's
[30:38] Speaker 2: just there's so many little stupidly funny but like so
[30:43] Speaker 2: it doesn't take it yourself too seriously and it's over
[30:45] Speaker 2: the top, but it's just fun, right.
[30:47] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[30:48] Speaker 2: I enjoyed this one a lot.
[30:49] Speaker 1: My favorite part of this show, guys, is that, like
[30:52] Speaker 1: you think it'd be like a dodgeball match, the first
[30:54] Speaker 1: two episodes, there's no matches, right, They're just throwing dodgeballs
[30:56] Speaker 1: at each other, so they literally they literally get In
[31:00] Speaker 1: the second episode, they get junked by a rival school
[31:03] Speaker 1: in the mall. They get jumped by a rival like
[31:06] Speaker 1: a bunch of girls pull up start throwing dodgeballs in
[31:09] Speaker 1: the mall.
[31:12] Speaker 4: Perfectly normal.
[31:13] Speaker 1: It's serious business, serious business. Okay, h recay, what are
[31:17] Speaker 1: your thoughts on Dodgeball Girl? Donko?
[31:21] Speaker 3: This is probably the most chaotic sports anime that I've watched.
[31:26] Speaker 3: It is so random, so many times in most scenarios,
[31:32] Speaker 3: it is complete random. Like you said, they're they're not
[31:35] Speaker 3: playing dodgeball, they're just in the mall throwing dodgeballs at
[31:38] Speaker 3: each other and ship like that. It's just like, yeah,
[31:40] Speaker 3: that that's something you don't see every day.
[31:42] Speaker 5: I'm sure that's definitely not legal. I mean, I mean,
[31:50] Speaker 5: but yeah, it's it's just pretty much.
[31:54] Speaker 3: Anime girls playing with balls, and uh yeah, that's how
[32:00] Speaker 3: it can some anime girls playing with balls. There's also
[32:04] Speaker 3: big teddy girls squad that shows up at some point
[32:08] Speaker 3: with humongous you know things.
[32:11] Speaker 1: That they're carrying. That's that's a little unnecessary. Like, don't
[32:15] Speaker 1: get me wrong, I'm definitely used to it.
[32:17] Speaker 3: It is so unnecessary to have them like that about
[32:21] Speaker 3: sure or whatever. And yeah, it's just girls playing with balls.
[32:28] Speaker 1: Test pretty much. You've said it four times, dude. Yeah,
[32:32] Speaker 1: so sports, most sports are like that.
[32:35] Speaker 2: I feel like this one reminded me a lot of
[32:37] Speaker 2: Hunter Hunter too, So it's like that there's a dodgeball
[32:39] Speaker 2: arc and Hunter Hunter, right, it feels like it's the
[32:42] Speaker 2: anime version to that. Like even that ax throat in
[32:44] Speaker 2: the mall that that we're talking about. You know how
[32:47] Speaker 2: the team receives that they joined together and they replicate that.
[32:51] Speaker 2: Uh that scene with like going kilowa Andhsoka catching a ball, right,
[32:55] Speaker 2: It's like they're all working together to try to do it,
[32:57] Speaker 2: and it's still not enough. They have to go through
[32:59] Speaker 2: a training arc after, right, And there's like a little
[33:02] Speaker 2: girl that's green haired that has like her name's Honey.
[33:04] Speaker 2: She uses bees to like do all these projections.
[33:07] Speaker 1: It's yeah, they have b technology in order to play dodgeball.
[33:11] Speaker 1: It's crazy.
[33:12] Speaker 2: Only all the other anime I've seen with the green
[33:13] Speaker 2: haired girl that has bees she controls is Hunter Hunter. Okay,
[33:16] Speaker 2: I'm just saying I feel like there's a lot of
[33:18] Speaker 2: inspiration there.
[33:19] Speaker 1: Wow. How was episode three?
[33:20] Speaker 3: Guys?
[33:20] Speaker 1: So, I unfortunately did not get to watch ups with three.
[33:22] Speaker 1: I only watched two of this one. It just kind
[33:24] Speaker 1: of ran out of time. I also the entire week,
[33:27] Speaker 1: I'm like, I already watched the anime in my head.
[33:29] Speaker 1: I'm like, I watched all three, but we usually do three.
[33:31] Speaker 1: This week we did four and then last night. No, No,
[33:34] Speaker 1: it's okay, we have four of us right now. I
[33:37] Speaker 1: just kind of forgot. I'm like, yeah, I watched them
[33:38] Speaker 1: right after the podcast last time. I watched literally like
[33:40] Speaker 1: three episodes of all of them. I completely forgot that
[33:45] Speaker 1: there was Dodgeball Girl Donko until last night.
[33:47] Speaker 2: So the worst thing about episode three is that it
[33:50] Speaker 2: ended on a cliffhanger. You know, I had to watch
[33:52] Speaker 2: episode four to get that. I watched that right before
[33:54] Speaker 2: this just to get that, you know, a little bit
[33:56] Speaker 2: of conclusion. I'm gonna keep watching. I think I'm probably
[33:58] Speaker 2: gonna finish this one. But there's a whole serious dodgeball
[34:02] Speaker 2: match in episode three, right, Okay, We're going to get
[34:03] Speaker 2: this rival school for the sake of the club. They
[34:05] Speaker 2: want the club to exist. They're fighting for their friends.
[34:07] Speaker 2: There's passion, there breaks power, friendship.
[34:10] Speaker 4: All the shows that make a pentagram out of dodgeballs.
[34:14] Speaker 2: Right, because they're sending the outside of those hundred hundredgball
[34:17] Speaker 2: rules right, and it differently.
[34:19] Speaker 1: My favorite, My favorite thing is that the principal is like,
[34:23] Speaker 1: no dodgeball at this school. They proceed to play dodgeball
[34:27] Speaker 1: all day and then they're like, they're like, you know
[34:30] Speaker 1: what if you defeat this rival school at dodgeball, then
[34:34] Speaker 1: you could have a Dodgeball Club, but they're reasoning for
[34:39] Speaker 1: why there should be no dodgeballs, the injuries, and it's like, okay,
[34:42] Speaker 1: proved to us by having an insane, early, over the top,
[34:46] Speaker 1: dramatic battle to.
[34:47] Speaker 2: The death Dodgeball's various series in the world. Okay, Like
[34:50] Speaker 2: even the guy that's been saying no, like one of
[34:52] Speaker 2: the the the teachers and stuff, he's like, don't worry,
[34:55] Speaker 2: I'll be impartial, and he's the ref for the match, right,
[34:57] Speaker 2: and that in that third.
[34:59] Speaker 3: Episode totally p Jo's better than this.
[35:03] Speaker 2: It's one of those things where it's a little bit
[35:05] Speaker 2: of commentary in the same way. Major second is where
[35:07] Speaker 2: it's like, you know, kids today, they don't want to
[35:09] Speaker 2: they don't have that same gritten passion is like back
[35:11] Speaker 2: in the day where it's about a sport, but no,
[35:13] Speaker 2: they inherited this passion from their parents. They have those
[35:16] Speaker 2: same rivalries going. It's a faded rivalry. It's I don't know,
[35:20] Speaker 2: I could guess about this, but it's just fun. I
[35:22] Speaker 2: don't want to go.
[35:22] Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
[35:23] Speaker 4: Well, yeah, well I recommended this one even though I
[35:29] Speaker 4: took a random you took a random shot out of
[35:32] Speaker 4: those that I thought those would be cool to watch.
[35:38] Speaker 4: When I watched, I was like, this is so crazy.
[35:41] Speaker 4: This is exactly like this over the top ridiculous superpower
[35:47] Speaker 4: anime that you see like from the early two thousands
[35:50] Speaker 4: or late nineties. It reminds me. Reminds me, I mean,
[35:55] Speaker 4: I haven't seen them of like Inoma eleven Captain Subasa.
[36:00] Speaker 4: It's like these really old classic sports anime about like
[36:05] Speaker 4: a young kid, and it probably airs like early in
[36:11] Speaker 4: the day. The children watch it, they have fun. They
[36:17] Speaker 4: think like, oh, I want to play soccer as well
[36:19] Speaker 4: or dodgeball as well because this looks so cool. And
[36:24] Speaker 4: for example, that one shot of Dunkle in episode two
[36:28] Speaker 4: it shatters the windows like try to power scale that
[36:35] Speaker 4: what or all the two grays that are like gigantic,
[36:38] Speaker 4: Like this is so stupid and you don't see that
[36:42] Speaker 4: a lot of a lot nowadays. It's like so over
[36:45] Speaker 4: the top, so not serious, so ridiculous. A lot of
[36:49] Speaker 4: anime nowadays, even though they're maybe if they are fantasy
[36:52] Speaker 4: or something, they're still kind of like grounded, realistic even
[36:58] Speaker 4: in terms of like fantasy and this it's just like
[37:03] Speaker 4: they can play the air like an episode two with
[37:08] Speaker 4: the where they get jumped u Peko. He just catches
[37:12] Speaker 4: the ball uh, spins in the air and returns it obviously.
[37:18] Speaker 4: So I think this is like really a breath of
[37:21] Speaker 4: fresh air in terms of like anthy that you see,
[37:26] Speaker 4: oh like every season, And I thought it was like
[37:30] Speaker 4: a lot of fun, and that's why I recommended it.
[37:33] Speaker 1: Honestly, I do think it was fun. What would you
[37:36] Speaker 1: rank it?
[37:39] Speaker 4: I would probably still put it at four. I think
[37:41] Speaker 4: I like crown more, but they are about the same.
[37:46] Speaker 1: I have more criticisms of Crowned one hundred Days, but
[37:49] Speaker 1: I do think it's more for me than maybe Dogbo
[37:52] Speaker 1: Girl Donko Donko, So while it might be slightly better,
[37:55] Speaker 1: I have it at four as well. So I have
[37:57] Speaker 1: Donko at four, Crowned one hundred Days at three, Goodbye
[38:01] Speaker 1: Laura at one, meaning Kaiju Girl Carme Laise is at two,
[38:07] Speaker 1: which is the next anime. It's a shy high school
[38:10] Speaker 1: girl discovering that whenever her romantic feelings get too intense,
[38:13] Speaker 1: she literally transformed into it. She's like a giant Kaiju.
[38:16] Speaker 1: It's like a rom com meets Godzilla legally distinct. Yeah,
[38:26] Speaker 1: I like the art style. I think it's really really
[38:29] Speaker 1: cute and I think the biggest thing for me is
[38:32] Speaker 1: that I just actually like both the guy and the girl,
[38:36] Speaker 1: the two main characters. I'm a fan. I enjoy both
[38:39] Speaker 1: of them to a certain extent. What are your guys thoughts?
[38:44] Speaker 2: My favorite character was the one with the buns on
[38:46] Speaker 2: her head because she was wild. She's kinda she's crazy.
[38:51] Speaker 2: She's all into Kaiju's but like in a weird way.
[38:53] Speaker 2: And I'm like, what do you mean by that? And
[38:55] Speaker 2: she's I want them to step on me, and I'm like,
[38:57] Speaker 2: I don't think that's gonna end. How you think that's
[38:59] Speaker 2: gonna end?
[39:00] Speaker 1: Like, I think she's gonna go out half and George.
[39:05] Speaker 3: She's she's a rich girl. She's a rich girl with
[39:08] Speaker 3: helicopters and ship like that. She does weird things.
[39:13] Speaker 1: So actually, Recon, I don't know if I let you
[39:16] Speaker 1: say anything about Dodgeball Girl donco other than you brought
[39:19] Speaker 1: up the tips, No I did, I did, I did
[39:21] Speaker 1: talk about okay, you did okay? And is that you're
[39:23] Speaker 1: number four?
[39:25] Speaker 3: Uh? No, Laura was up for this one. I would
[39:28] Speaker 3: put number three, yeah, and then was the Chinese anime
[39:36] Speaker 3: Crown in one hundred days, and then this one would
[39:38] Speaker 3: be my number one.
[39:39] Speaker 1: Damn my number one.
[39:44] Speaker 2: I feel the odd one out because I'm putting Dodgeball
[39:46] Speaker 2: at number two and Caramelize would be number three for me.
[39:49] Speaker 2: It's like Chinese one.
[39:52] Speaker 1: Which they're all worth checking out to a certain degree.
[39:56] Speaker 1: Like that, I don't think any of them are terrible.
[39:57] Speaker 1: I don't think any of them are overly amazing. I
[39:59] Speaker 1: think they're all worth checking out for this summer season.
[40:01] Speaker 1: If you're looking for an anime to watch, give it
[40:03] Speaker 1: an episode, see if it's for you. The Dodgeball one
[40:05] Speaker 1: might be, might not be. The Kaiju one might be,
[40:08] Speaker 1: it might not be. It's a romance at the end
[40:09] Speaker 1: of the day.
[40:10] Speaker 2: As with the whole seasonal anime, there's a lot, so
[40:12] Speaker 2: it just kind of depends on what sounds like it
[40:13] Speaker 2: appeals to.
[40:14] Speaker 1: You, right, yeah, and thus it's really really bad, like
[40:16] Speaker 1: like King's Avatar you.
[40:17] Speaker 2: Know, yeah, yeah, of course that's that goes without saying
[40:21] Speaker 2: it's always applied, you know, yeah, But you know it's
[40:24] Speaker 2: not bad like King's Avatar or Kaiju Girl Caramelized. I
[40:27] Speaker 2: still really enjoyed this show. So yeah, I don't know
[40:30] Speaker 2: who wants to go first as far as thoughts on
[40:32] Speaker 2: it overall.
[40:33] Speaker 1: But you go ahead.
[40:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was just sweet and wholesome, and uh,
[40:38] Speaker 2: I felt really bad for the girl too, because like
[40:40] Speaker 2: it's one of those things where I guess the uh
[40:43] Speaker 2: I guess her mom was freaky also, And I don't
[40:45] Speaker 2: know if like she's like half kaiju because I don't
[40:48] Speaker 2: know how that. I just decided not to ask questions there.
[40:50] Speaker 2: But you know, she doesn't realize until she first falls
[40:53] Speaker 2: in love or like has a crush or whatnot, that
[40:55] Speaker 2: she starts to kind of turn into a Kaiju. Right,
[40:57] Speaker 2: I don't know like how that is affected emotions wise,
[40:59] Speaker 2: but but yeah, she she she really falls for another
[41:04] Speaker 2: guy in high school. She kind of lets her guard
[41:07] Speaker 2: down a little bit, and that that never goes well.
[41:11] Speaker 2: You know, she she's a liability, she's a I don't
[41:14] Speaker 2: know what the mom's thinking having her in the city.
[41:16] Speaker 2: You know, I take back everything I just said. She
[41:20] Speaker 2: should be in a lab somewhere. You know, I'm pro human.
[41:24] Speaker 2: All her classmates almost killed them all. If I was
[41:26] Speaker 2: the mom, I would have her nowhere near the city,
[41:28] Speaker 2: maybe maybe somewhere out in the country you can raise her.
[41:30] Speaker 2: But yeah, this whole premise, I would be one of
[41:33] Speaker 2: the villains we gotta we gotta get her.
[41:35] Speaker 1: No, the real villains are the humans. There was there
[41:37] Speaker 1: was a Kaiju that did nothing wrong and immediately started
[41:41] Speaker 1: getting hit by tanks and helicopters and ship.
[41:43] Speaker 2: Look at all the property damage will be that guy's No.
[41:46] Speaker 3: There was.
[41:46] Speaker 1: There was no property damage yet the first time, it
[41:49] Speaker 1: was like very little damage.
[41:50] Speaker 2: You know, there was a boat that was destroyed.
[41:52] Speaker 1: There afterwards before I don't know. I think what ended
[41:55] Speaker 1: up happening is they started getting shot and then they
[41:58] Speaker 1: created the damage because of the action to getting shot.
[42:01] Speaker 1: She was just a little girl going for a whim
[42:03] Speaker 1: as a giant Kaiju. Okay, it wasn't bullet snap.
[42:06] Speaker 2: It was crushed.
[42:06] Speaker 1: It was it was it was like, okay, she's too big.
[42:10] Speaker 2: It's like it's like, I don't know, okay, humans, I'm
[42:17] Speaker 2: pro human. I can't. I can't get on the side
[42:19] Speaker 2: of caramelized.
[42:21] Speaker 1: I will say I I like the main character. If
[42:25] Speaker 1: she's so cute. I like the main character a lot,
[42:27] Speaker 1: and it helps. It helps because I'm not a big
[42:29] Speaker 1: rom com guy. I'm not a big I think they
[42:31] Speaker 1: had obviously it has like the Godzilla fucking or Kaiju
[42:34] Speaker 1: like she's twisted with the romance, which is fun and
[42:36] Speaker 1: it has a little bit of a it makes it different.
[42:38] Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, just liking the
[42:40] Speaker 1: characters kept me interested.
[42:44] Speaker 2: I mean, I do empathize whether she didn't choose.
[42:47] Speaker 1: To be that way, right, So it's and then her
[42:49] Speaker 1: personality kind of based around it. She's like, I can't
[42:52] Speaker 1: like open up the people. I gotta like stay keep
[42:54] Speaker 1: my distance this and that. And then you have the
[42:57] Speaker 1: literally the like the most popular dude whatever making her
[43:03] Speaker 1: blow up, and I do like that, like it.
[43:06] Speaker 2: Takes her a little bit of time to kind of
[43:07] Speaker 2: get to know him a little bit too. Yeah, Like
[43:09] Speaker 2: she's making assumptions about him at first, like you're the popular,
[43:11] Speaker 2: but he's like, it's like, nah, I didn't really have
[43:13] Speaker 2: very many friends in middle school. I was a little
[43:15] Speaker 2: bit chubbier, Like you know, it's like I'm still trying
[43:17] Speaker 2: to get used to a lot of this as well. Right,
[43:19] Speaker 2: But he's like, there's something about you I just find appealing. Right,
[43:22] Speaker 2: I don't know. That's a bit of a show. So cute,
[43:24] Speaker 2: but it's.
[43:24] Speaker 4: Cute, yeah, market but complete opposite to you because you
[43:31] Speaker 4: say you're like not really much into romans. I am
[43:35] Speaker 4: a sucker for romans. If the show has romans, that's
[43:38] Speaker 4: a good chance I'm gonna finish it. I eat that
[43:41] Speaker 4: ship up like candy.
[43:44] Speaker 1: I love one shows.
[43:45] Speaker 4: You gotta be really bad romans for me to not
[43:48] Speaker 4: like it.
[43:48] Speaker 1: I love one shows have romance, but romance isn't the focus.
[43:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, but even like if the romans is like the focus,
[43:57] Speaker 4: you I love that nice. Yeah, I really like that.
[44:01] Speaker 4: This one is just really wholesome.
[44:05] Speaker 1: And cute.
[44:06] Speaker 4: It looks great visually. Uh you say that she the
[44:12] Speaker 4: mother might be might have done something with a kaiju,
[44:14] Speaker 4: or might be half herself. We do see the egg,
[44:19] Speaker 4: the empty egg of camel eyes. But now that you
[44:22] Speaker 4: mentioned it, if the mother just found the egg, right,
[44:28] Speaker 4: why did the kaiju turn into a girl?
[44:31] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[44:34] Speaker 1: All are cute girls.
[44:37] Speaker 2: Oh maybe true might be.
[44:39] Speaker 4: True or or guys or guys or guys pole that
[44:45] Speaker 4: actually might be your thing?
[44:47] Speaker 2: Does I feel like she she referenced them at some point?
[44:52] Speaker 2: I could be wrong.
[44:53] Speaker 4: I also like in episode three that she turns into
[44:56] Speaker 4: like dark caramelized where the heart eyes that she normally
[45:03] Speaker 4: has breaks, Like now she's like an actual kaiju, and
[45:08] Speaker 4: like at the music festival and like that whole thing
[45:14] Speaker 4: about like her realizing who she's talking to the guy
[45:19] Speaker 4: and the broken heart goes together again. It's just it's
[45:24] Speaker 4: so so cute. I love it.
[45:26] Speaker 2: Nicecon What are your what are your thoughts? As far
[45:29] Speaker 2: as you said this was your number one? Right? Had
[45:31] Speaker 2: the rink all four?
[45:32] Speaker 3: Like? Yeah, I mean I'm the one who recommended it
[45:35] Speaker 3: for a reason. So I really enjoyed this. Like you
[45:40] Speaker 3: all gave positive points about it. It's just a really
[45:42] Speaker 3: cute show. And even though I'm a little bit fatigued
[45:46] Speaker 3: with with brom coms, this one is very different because
[45:49] Speaker 3: it adds that twist with where the where the girl
[45:52] Speaker 3: is a kaiju, of course, because it adds that, and
[45:55] Speaker 3: I really enjoyed it. And the characters are just freaking great.
[46:00] Speaker 3: It's funny, it's wholesome.
[46:02] Speaker 2: I like the story.
[46:04] Speaker 3: I like the protagonist where she's you know, she hates
[46:07] Speaker 3: herself for being a kaiju, but she's trying to you know,
[46:09] Speaker 3: cope with it, and she's trying to find some love,
[46:13] Speaker 3: you know, something in her life. And yeah, it's just
[46:18] Speaker 3: pretty pretty cool.
[46:19] Speaker 1: I like the story.
[46:20] Speaker 3: But you guys are forgetting the biggest thing though. You
[46:23] Speaker 3: guys are speculating about the mom being kaiju and all
[46:26] Speaker 3: that stuff, But did you think about the father?
[46:30] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I said, I said, the mom
[46:33] Speaker 2: is freaking for if the dad is.
[46:35] Speaker 3: Because the thing is the girl what was her name?
[46:39] Speaker 3: I forgot her name, the girl whatever, but she's she's
[46:44] Speaker 3: half human, half kaiju, which kind of gives me the
[46:47] Speaker 3: assumption that the dad could be a Kaiju and he
[46:50] Speaker 3: fell in love with the mom being a human. So
[46:52] Speaker 3: it's kind of like that.
[46:54] Speaker 2: That's why I try not to think about it too much.
[46:56] Speaker 4: But then the mother get like an egg.
[47:01] Speaker 2: Trying not to think about it too much. I don't
[47:03] Speaker 2: think that.
[47:05] Speaker 1: That would be weird.
[47:06] Speaker 4: That would be weird. Would it be like got the egg?
[47:11] Speaker 3: What? What? Because I'm just saying this because the father
[47:19] Speaker 3: is barely he's not even there, but he is mentioned,
[47:23] Speaker 3: So I'm like kind of speculating, what if he's the kaiju?
[47:26] Speaker 3: So I don't know.
[47:27] Speaker 4: Or it could be like a serum because there is
[47:30] Speaker 4: the scientist. Guys, it could be a serum like a
[47:34] Speaker 4: kaiju serum that turns you into half kaijud That could be.
[47:39] Speaker 2: What I'm getting from this is if it's a half
[47:41] Speaker 2: lizard half like kaiju thing or if the girls half
[47:44] Speaker 2: Kaiju have lizard Reconn's like, yes, thumbs up. If she's
[47:47] Speaker 2: half fish thumbs down. I don't understand, oh the Kaiju.
[47:57] Speaker 3: I know it's all c G I, but it was
[47:58] Speaker 3: actually not all bad. It was good, solid, you know,
[48:01] Speaker 3: solid CGI with the tide you action. It's very watchable.
[48:05] Speaker 1: Though I liked it.
[48:07] Speaker 4: I'm so on the fence if c G I gets
[48:10] Speaker 4: better or still bad. Because someone talked me about Hell
[48:16] Speaker 4: Mode that area of the season, and he showed me
[48:20] Speaker 4: a clip that.
[48:23] Speaker 2: I will say, the hell anime isn't too bad.
[48:25] Speaker 4: It's looks I haven't seen it looks terrible.
[48:31] Speaker 2: I started reading the novels. Those are a little bit better.
[48:33] Speaker 2: But you know, it's.
[48:35] Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know what determines like the
[48:39] Speaker 4: quality of the c G I. Like, Demons has c
[48:42] Speaker 4: G in it. It looks great.
[48:44] Speaker 2: It's not easy.
[48:45] Speaker 4: Table table does CG I really will yeah? Or Studio
[48:50] Speaker 4: Orange b Stars and stuff like that that looks really good.
[48:56] Speaker 4: But then you have like Bersark.
[49:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean different different timetables there and stuff as well.
[49:03] Speaker 2: Like I think Japan's kind of ramped up a lot
[49:05] Speaker 2: on the the three D animation in general.
[49:07] Speaker 3: Is nothing wrong with Brazerk, though, I mean the the
[49:11] Speaker 3: CGI Berserk wasn't too bad.
[49:14] Speaker 4: Definitely was pretty bad.
[49:16] Speaker 3: Okay, it's definitely, But you can you can definitely say
[49:20] Speaker 3: it's a lot better than the nineties one.
[49:24] Speaker 4: The nineties one.
[49:24] Speaker 1: That's not true. He was rage. He's rage waiting me,
[49:29] Speaker 1: of course he is. I don't like the O G one,
[49:32] Speaker 1: don't fall for the bait.
[49:34] Speaker 4: Mh.
[49:35] Speaker 2: Like, even like.
[49:37] Speaker 4: That one had terrible CGI. It didn't improve, it didn't improve. Okay,
[49:45] Speaker 4: I only know I'm fully caught up, fully caught up
[49:48] Speaker 4: to it.
[49:49] Speaker 3: It did get better.
[49:50] Speaker 2: Where was their c g I and uh in arid, Like,
[49:52] Speaker 2: what did.
[49:53] Speaker 3: They use it for the monsters?
[49:55] Speaker 5: It was season one.
[49:58] Speaker 3: Awful?
[49:59] Speaker 4: Yeah, So I don't know. It must be something to
[50:04] Speaker 4: do with the budget, because otherwise I cannot imagine why
[50:09] Speaker 4: Caramelized as a looks so good and then other stuff
[50:13] Speaker 4: even this season.
[50:14] Speaker 2: Lord, it's like, I mean, it's people making it right.
[50:17] Speaker 2: So it's like depends on how many people you have
[50:18] Speaker 2: that are experts in uh in making that type of art.
[50:22] Speaker 2: It's just a whole different that's true.
[50:24] Speaker 3: You can you can say you can say that had
[50:28] Speaker 3: bad CGI, but the fact that it is super popular.
[50:31] Speaker 3: It says something because everybody loves the freaking protagonist Nagamo.
[50:35] Speaker 2: Which every body.
[50:39] Speaker 4: I thought that season that it was awful. It was
[50:43] Speaker 4: way too it was way too edgy. Why is the
[50:46] Speaker 4: girl so short?
[50:48] Speaker 2: Just make her taller? Look like a child you've never watched.
[50:55] Speaker 2: I watched season one, so I've read some of the novels,
[50:57] Speaker 2: and like I said, the first episode of the anime
[50:59] Speaker 2: just skip so much. It just kind of drops in
[51:01] Speaker 2: the middle where things are supposed to kind of get good.
[51:03] Speaker 2: And I watched that one episode, I'm like, I can't
[51:05] Speaker 2: do it, Like I have no idea what was going on.
[51:07] Speaker 2: Then I went back and read it. It made way
[51:09] Speaker 2: more sense.
[51:09] Speaker 4: I don't know. Also, the metal looks really weird in
[51:13] Speaker 4: that show. I don't believe, like on his armor and stuff,
[51:16] Speaker 4: like the colors looked really off.
[51:19] Speaker 1: All right, gamers, sorry to interrupt. We're getting to that
[51:22] Speaker 1: time of the day where I probably have to run
[51:24] Speaker 1: soon next week. I would love to do this again.
[51:27] Speaker 1: I would love to do another four anime or three anime.
[51:31] Speaker 1: Check out some episodes, maybe watch a little bit more.
[51:33] Speaker 1: Because anyone had Chinese once last time, I guess I changed.
[51:38] Speaker 3: We're gonna do with Chinese or we can talk about it.
[51:41] Speaker 4: Crowned in one hundred days already, So I mean I
[51:44] Speaker 4: have Chinese shows I could cover for you.
[51:47] Speaker 1: No, I don't know if I want to do that.
[51:49] Speaker 1: And be honest, I don't know if I do either.
[51:51] Speaker 2: I'm so few.
[51:52] Speaker 1: I actually have wink Click was good. To Be hero
[51:55] Speaker 1: X was good. I do want. I don't want, Jordan, pardon.

[52:11] Speaker 2: Another to be hero Yeah, the very first one.
[52:16] Speaker 3: Oh the guy, Oh yeah, the hot looking guy that
[52:19] Speaker 3: turns into a fat guy after sitting on.
[52:24] Speaker 2: I've seen that one.
[52:25] Speaker 3: But it's just not good.
