[0:00] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, it's Jelly Roll! You know, two people
[0:03] Speaker 1: to get hated the most is handsome people and fat people.
[0:05] Speaker 1: You're handsome and I'm fat. We should really relate to
[0:08] Speaker 1: each other. Getting the Chokeslam awesome theory. Dude, that was sick.
[0:12] Speaker 1: It was so good! MGK and Megan Fox, I pull
[0:15] Speaker 1: up on them, I'm like, do you want a ride?
[0:17] Speaker 1: I just kept on walking.
[0:18] Speaker 2: And you mentioned that everyone hated you, and I don't
[0:20] Speaker 2: know if you were joking or if you were serious.
[0:21] Speaker 1: I was dead serious.
[0:22] Speaker 2: So now everyone loves you, and I've had the opposite journey.
[0:27] Speaker 1: I also, man, between us... I don't know if I
[0:29] Speaker 1: want to go that deep, but I still have to
[0:32] Speaker 1: fight the, like, do I want to get up some days?
[0:35] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, I don't know. He
[0:47] Speaker 1: got a haircut on the last episode. Yo! Just the
[0:50] Speaker 1: episode before this? Yeah. Fire? I feel like I missed
[0:53] Speaker 1: all the good. You got equity in a company?
[0:55] Speaker 2: He got a- It was a big episode, that last episode.
[0:58] Speaker 3: He was talking about his kid. We talked about Mudang
[1:01] Speaker 3: the hippo. You know who Mudang is?
[1:03] Speaker 1: Oh, dude, Mudang is a big deal, man. Big deal.
[1:05] Speaker 1: We also talked about death by nitrogen.
[1:09] Speaker 2: Nitrogen gas really euthanasia in america let's kick this off
[1:13] Speaker 2: the right way what are your thoughts on euthanasia do
[1:14] Speaker 2: you have your pr team with you i.
[1:16] Speaker 1: Can't yeah so no she just left we're actually wide
[1:18] Speaker 1: open in fact i'm gonna put this podcast out whenever
[1:20] Speaker 1: you want to and make no edits she's gone the
[1:25] Speaker 1: cats away the mice will play burn it down who
[1:29] Speaker 1: you voting for mike no just kidding All right. My
[1:34] Speaker 1: favorite topic.
[1:36] Speaker 2: I'm tired, Jelly Roll.
[1:38] Speaker 1: No. I'm sure you are. You're a new dad.
[1:40] Speaker 2: The dad thing is pretty tiring.
[1:41] Speaker 1: It's real. They were right.
[1:42] Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
[1:43] Speaker 1: I'm tired.
[1:44] Speaker 2: Let me intro you.
[1:45] Speaker 1: Please. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Jelly Roll. It's me. I
[1:51] Speaker 1: made it to Impaul. I love the show. I've been
[1:53] Speaker 1: watching you all a long time. I'm like every other
[1:54] Speaker 1: guy that has had a YouTube channel since YouTube started. Heck, yeah.
[1:58] Speaker 1: Thank you, man.
[1:59] Speaker 2: I appreciate that. That means a lot. I want to
[2:01] Speaker 2: say something to you right off the rip. We've crossed
[2:04] Speaker 2: paths a couple times backstage, WWE, usually the big events,
[2:10] Speaker 2: the PLEs. And we've always said what's up. But I've
[2:13] Speaker 2: not actually sat down and got to have any sort
[2:17] Speaker 2: of real conversation with you. And a part of me
[2:20] Speaker 2: feels bad about that. I regret it. Because from what
[2:24] Speaker 2: I hear, you're the best person on the planet.
[2:27] Speaker 1: Number one.
[2:29] Speaker 2: Is what they say.
[2:30] Speaker 1: He is a positive force of nature.
[2:34] Speaker 3: Before this episode even starts, this is going to be
[2:36] Speaker 3: one of the most important and amazing episodes that ever
[2:40] Speaker 3: comes out.
[2:40] Speaker 1: I'm just going to set the expectations right now.
[2:42] Speaker 3: Because he is one of the most positive and amazing
[2:45] Speaker 3: people that exists in this world. I have not met
[2:48] Speaker 3: one person who knows this man that does not speak
[2:51] Speaker 3: of him in the highest... of nature and that's gotta
[2:54] Speaker 3: make you feel good knowing that it wasn't probably.
[2:56] Speaker 1: Always the case. No, dude, I'm honored because anybody who
[2:58] Speaker 1: knew me before like five years ago would only shit
[3:00] Speaker 1: on me. They would just be like, I hate that
[3:02] Speaker 1: y'all love this guy. He's such a bad human. So
[3:05] Speaker 1: it's like to work my way from that being the situation.
[3:09] Speaker 1: Like when I used to walk into rooms, like it
[3:12] Speaker 1: was instantly a downer. I felt the energy shift. Like
[3:16] Speaker 1: dogs didn't like me. Kids didn't like me. Cats didn't
[3:19] Speaker 1: like me. Like it was bad. Yeah, for sure. And so, yeah,
[3:25] Speaker 1: for people to say, yeah. So that means a lot
[3:27] Speaker 1: that people speak highly.
[3:28] Speaker 3: Do you think that that was actually, cause I can,
[3:30] Speaker 3: a lot of the stuff that you're going to say today,
[3:31] Speaker 3: I can relate to, which is cool, which is why
[3:33] Speaker 3: I'd love to be sitting down with you.
[3:35] Speaker 1: Do you, and I know you were going to the,
[3:37] Speaker 1: on the.
[3:37] Speaker 2: WWE side, but no, you don't, you don't know that.
[3:40] Speaker 1: Cause I wasn't, I wasn't. Okay, fine. Do you, do
[3:42] Speaker 1: you still believe that ever?
[3:44] Speaker 3: Do you, and, and have you learned whether or not
[3:47] Speaker 3: that was actually true or was that something that your
[3:49] Speaker 3: mind was telling you?
[3:50] Speaker 1: What's that? I wasn't going to be that one. That
[3:52] Speaker 1: when you walked in a room, people thought, no, no, no, no.
[3:55] Speaker 1: It was true. It was true, man. Cause I, this
[3:57] Speaker 1: is a true story. When I first got out of jail,
[4:00] Speaker 1: We stopped at the closest gas station, which is kind
[4:02] Speaker 1: of just a trend of like, I want to go
[4:03] Speaker 1: get whatever they have that I couldn't get. It's like freedom, freedom, right?
[4:07] Speaker 1: A gas station is like the epitome of freedom when
[4:09] Speaker 1: you're out of jail. You're like, I could get whatever.
[4:11] Speaker 1: I don't even remember. Whatever candy they didn't have on commissary,
[4:15] Speaker 1: you know? And I walked up and this, I swear
[4:18] Speaker 1: it's a true story. I'm standing at the counter and
[4:21] Speaker 1: I've got like $ 6 to buy whatever soda I'm getting
[4:25] Speaker 1: and something else and a pack of cigarettes. And this
[4:27] Speaker 1: little girl, Like maybe two-year-old child just comes and hugs
[4:31] Speaker 1: my leg. Dog, I don't want to get emotional this
[4:35] Speaker 1: early on the podcast, but when I tell you before
[4:37] Speaker 1: that point, kids cried when I looked at them. Like
[4:40] Speaker 1: dogs ran away from me. Like I was like, maybe
[4:43] Speaker 1: it happened. I was like, maybe this shit that I'm
[4:45] Speaker 1: telling myself that just happened in jail is really happening.
[4:49] Speaker 1: Went home. I was with this chick. She had a dog.
[4:52] Speaker 1: Dog loved me. Love me more. I mean, swear, love
[4:56] Speaker 1: me more than her. It was like crazy. It's crazy.
[4:58] Speaker 1: The cat loved me. It was fucking nuts. I'd wake up,
[4:59] Speaker 1: the cat would be asleep on my face. It was
[5:01] Speaker 1: totally different.
[5:02] Speaker 2: Did the little girl confuse you for her father?
[5:04] Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. I didn't look like nobody, daddy.
[5:07] Speaker 1: I can tell you that, dude.
[5:10] Speaker 2: So nobody looks like you?
[5:11] Speaker 1: No, no. At that time, I was 24 years old,
[5:13] Speaker 1: and I looked like I was finna steal something.
[5:17] Speaker 3: What do you think it was about the time inside that?
[5:20] Speaker 3: How long was that stint?
[5:22] Speaker 1: I did a couple years too. I guess two and
[5:23] Speaker 1: a half, maybe three that time. What do you think
[5:25] Speaker 1: it was about that time that shifted your appeal to others? Well,
[5:31] Speaker 1: I had a woman pregnant whenever I was free. So
[5:34] Speaker 1: she had had the baby when I was born. So
[5:35] Speaker 1: that was my daughter. That was the birth of, ooh, ooh,
[5:38] Speaker 1: great parallel. Let's go. Great parallel. So this was my
[5:41] Speaker 1: first child story. I was incarcerated and they knocked on
[5:45] Speaker 1: my cell door and told me that she was born.
[5:47] Speaker 1: And I know it sounds crazy, but it was like,
[5:50] Speaker 1: a light switch happened in my head right then that
[5:53] Speaker 1: I was like, and I think it was the pressure
[5:55] Speaker 1: of that moment that caught me too. Cause you're like,
[5:58] Speaker 1: I'm worth like $ 32 in potato chips and honey buns.
[6:02] Speaker 1: That's like what my life is worth. And like seven
[6:05] Speaker 1: packets of paper, three pins, six pair of boxers, five t-shirts,
[6:09] Speaker 1: two jumpsuits. That's all I owned. One outfit with like
[6:13] Speaker 1: a $ 10 bill in the pocket that I'd had hidden
[6:15] Speaker 1: in a watch pocket to the police didn't confiscate when
[6:18] Speaker 1: they arrested me. That's all I had. And I was like,
[6:20] Speaker 1: and I'm a And I just like felt guilt and
[6:24] Speaker 1: I felt shame my whole life and guilt, but never
[6:27] Speaker 1: like this. And I was like, I got to figure
[6:29] Speaker 1: this out. And I immediately, I went and got my
[6:31] Speaker 1: GED while I was still in jail. I'd been in
[6:33] Speaker 1: jail a year and some change at that point and
[6:35] Speaker 1: had done nothing but play poker and get in trouble.
[6:38] Speaker 1: And imagine how they felt in that jail. When I
[6:39] Speaker 1: woke up one day, it was like, I would like
[6:41] Speaker 1: to go to the educational unit. And they was like, yeah,
[6:43] Speaker 1: fucking right. We're going to bring you up. You've done
[6:45] Speaker 1: nothing but cause us a problem. I'm like, please, sir.
[6:47] Speaker 1: I'm a change man. They're like, and I bet God
[6:49] Speaker 1: came and see you in your cell last night. I
[6:51] Speaker 1: was like, he did have a kid. I want to change.
[6:54] Speaker 1: So it's crazy.
[6:56] Speaker 3: Talk about a disparity or difference between two like ways
[7:01] Speaker 3: of coming into that father.
[7:03] Speaker 1: But watch this though. Same feeling. Hmm.
[7:08] Speaker 2: He knows because I just iterated that on the last podcast.
[7:12] Speaker 2: You don't understand until it happens. And I was trying
[7:15] Speaker 2: to understand because everyone told me, your life doesn't start
[7:19] Speaker 2: until now. And I felt like I had a life.
[7:25] Speaker 2: Now I don't so much.
[7:26] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[7:27] Speaker 2: I've been saying, fuck the next chapter. This is a
[7:29] Speaker 2: new book.
[7:30] Speaker 1: That's it.
[7:31] Speaker 2: This is dad mode.
[7:33] Speaker 1: It's a complete shift.
[7:35] Speaker 2: Do you feel like you... Oh, your life to your
[7:39] Speaker 2: daughter because of the way she affected yours.
[7:42] Speaker 1: Oh, 100% man. But I, but I, I, what I
[7:45] Speaker 1: know as a father is that we, we owe our
[7:47] Speaker 1: life to our children anyway, but especially the way she
[7:50] Speaker 1: affected mine. You know what I mean? But I can
[7:52] Speaker 1: also tell you that the biggest curse we can give
[7:54] Speaker 1: our children is an unlived life of our own. So
[7:57] Speaker 1: always keep that in mind too, while you're doing the
[7:59] Speaker 1: balancing act of being super dad, but also being super Superman. Yeah.
[8:03] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? That, uh, Sometimes Clark Kent
[8:05] Speaker 1: had to exist so Superman could.
[8:08] Speaker 2: Do you think she was the catalyst for the shift
[8:11] Speaker 2: in you? It sounds like that was the thing.
[8:13] Speaker 1: It was for sure. Really? 100% her. It was immediately like, okay,
[8:19] Speaker 1: I got to start. applying these things so then.
[8:22] Speaker 2: I'm also curious because you know it what you're describing
[8:26] Speaker 2: let's go let's say what's her name bailey pre-bailey and
[8:29] Speaker 2: post-bailey are like two different versions of yourself 100 and
[8:33] Speaker 2: and just hearing you now it sounds like the pre-bailey
[8:36] Speaker 2: pre-bailey version of yourself was resonating at like a low
[8:40] Speaker 2: frequency and and and dare i say negative aura The
[8:49] Speaker 2: speed gun just popped out from me on the couch.
[8:53] Speaker 2: But it's like, you know, El Riz type shit. But,
[8:58] Speaker 2: you know, that can be felt. Your energy is contagious.
[9:02] Speaker 2: And was it as simple as flipping that switch where,
[9:07] Speaker 2: you know, now like a random little girl is coming
[9:09] Speaker 2: up and hugging your leg? Like it can be felt
[9:11] Speaker 2: is what I'm saying. It resonates. It can be felt
[9:13] Speaker 2: by other people, like animals, dogs you're mentioning.
[9:17] Speaker 1: I did a lot of work. I describe it as
[9:20] Speaker 1: a light switch moment, but man, it's been tons of
[9:23] Speaker 1: work that went into that moment. That was the moment
[9:26] Speaker 1: that made me go, I want to change. But the
[9:30] Speaker 1: work after that, boy, it was a barefoot race up
[9:33] Speaker 1: a glass hill. You know what I mean?
[9:36] Speaker 3: The number of analogies he's going to have is going
[9:38] Speaker 3: to blow your mind. He told me when I met
[9:40] Speaker 3: him at SummerSlam for the first time.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Is that what it was in Cleveland? He said... It
[9:47] Speaker 1: used to be so bad. I could walk.
[9:51] Speaker 3: It could be raining. It could be raining pussy and
[9:54] Speaker 3: I'd get hit by a pecker.
[9:55] Speaker 1: That's true, too. That was my luck for the longest time.
[9:59] Speaker 3: And now I could run blindfolded into a forest and
[10:01] Speaker 3: not run into a tree.
[10:02] Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
[10:02] Speaker 3: Because that's how much his life has changed. And see,
[10:04] Speaker 3: the stuff, it takes me a second to react to
[10:05] Speaker 3: this because of all the crack smoke.
[10:07] Speaker 1: It's real, though, but you recalled it. For sure.
[10:10] Speaker 3: But I think, listen, we'll talk about so many things today,
[10:13] Speaker 3: but I think more than anything... You are an example
[10:17] Speaker 3: of comeback and of redemption. And, you know, obviously that's
[10:21] Speaker 3: something that I pride in myself a lot too. And, and, um, hearing,
[10:27] Speaker 3: hearing a story about having your child well incarcerated to
[10:32] Speaker 3: the average ear. seems like a wild way to have
[10:35] Speaker 3: a kid, but it's actually a story that probably happens
[10:37] Speaker 3: quite often to a lot of people out there. And
[10:39] Speaker 3: I think that you've become a symbol and an icon
[10:43] Speaker 3: to those people that they can achieve greatness. I mean,
[10:45] Speaker 3: I look at the past week of your life. You're
[10:48] Speaker 3: sitting here with us today. You did Saturday Night Live
[10:51] Speaker 3: on Saturday.
[10:52] Speaker 1: Yes, sir. Insane. You were on Fallon last night. You're
[10:57] Speaker 1: touring every night, everywhere. MSG, the Friday before Saturday, sold out. Crazy,
[11:03] Speaker 1: crazy week. I got a show tonight. I'm living here.
[11:06] Speaker 3: I don't even have to ask this. Could you ever
[11:08] Speaker 3: have imagined?
[11:09] Speaker 1: No. Goodness, no. I've been joking about this all week
[11:12] Speaker 1: long with people because somebody at Saturday Night Live said,
[11:14] Speaker 1: was this your dream? And I was like, who is
[11:17] Speaker 1: so cocky that they dreamed they were going to be
[11:19] Speaker 1: on Saturday Night Live? I wasn't brave enough to dream
[11:22] Speaker 1: of being on Saturday Night Live. First, the idea that
[11:26] Speaker 1: I could even do it didn't hit my radar until
[11:29] Speaker 1: this year. You know, does that make sense? And then
[11:32] Speaker 1: it was like, even if you had told me last
[11:34] Speaker 1: January you might do Saturday Night Live this fall, I'd
[11:37] Speaker 1: be like, ha ha. You know what I mean? This
[11:40] Speaker 1: year I was like, oh really? This could be a thing,
[11:42] Speaker 1: you know? So yeah, dude, I never even dreamed I would.
[11:45] Speaker 1: We were leaving Central Park and I posted this somewhere.
[11:49] Speaker 1: We were leaving Central Park going to Saturday Night Live.
[11:51] Speaker 1: We had a police escort. I'd just played Global Citizen.
[11:55] Speaker 1: And I'd done MSG the night before. And I was like,
[11:58] Speaker 1: it was a moment where you're like, what's really happening
[12:01] Speaker 1: right now. Like this is different. This is not, you know,
[12:05] Speaker 1: this is not normal. This is not normal for us.
[12:07] Speaker 1: So yeah, I've had the best weekend ever dude. Thanks
[12:09] Speaker 1: for bringing it up.
[12:11] Speaker 2: Congratulations. That is fucking awesome. And it's, it's so crazy.
[12:16] Speaker 2: Cause like when I look at you and like, I
[12:18] Speaker 2: think probably, probably most people like you, you, you fit you're,
[12:21] Speaker 2: you're right where you belong. And I mean, I mean
[12:23] Speaker 2: that like, I think like when I see creators, artists
[12:27] Speaker 2: kind of like pop up and I, I'll definitely say, like,
[12:30] Speaker 2: you popped up on everyone's radar, like, pretty recently. I
[12:34] Speaker 2: was like, yeah. Like, I don't know. It was a
[12:37] Speaker 2: familiarity that I felt. And to me, it seems obvious
[12:41] Speaker 2: that you're in this position that, to you, maybe wasn't
[12:43] Speaker 2: so obvious at some points. Like, you obviously have the talent.
[12:48] Speaker 2: You have the look. You have the charisma and energy.
[12:51] Speaker 2: But why didn't you see it?
[12:54] Speaker 1: Hmm. I think I was still struggling to see past
[12:58] Speaker 1: who I was, not who I am. I kept getting
[13:02] Speaker 1: stuck in this like shame spiral of just not being
[13:05] Speaker 1: able to find my way out of who I was.
[13:08] Speaker 1: And there were so many things that I had to
[13:10] Speaker 1: go through to start breaking those little patterns. Like I
[13:13] Speaker 1: was thinking about it when we were following the police.
[13:16] Speaker 1: I was like, even my relationship with law enforcement, it
[13:19] Speaker 1: took a long time to like, I love police now.
[13:22] Speaker 1: Like when I see them at my shows, like they
[13:24] Speaker 1: hug me, I hug them. I started collecting their challenge coins.
[13:27] Speaker 1: I think it's cool. I have a wall dedicated to it.
[13:29] Speaker 1: I think it's so cool that they give me these
[13:31] Speaker 1: challenge coins, you know? And it's like, I was literally
[13:35] Speaker 1: a decade, you know, 14 years ago, you know, I mean,
[13:39] Speaker 1: I think I owned a fuck the police shirt. You
[13:41] Speaker 1: know what I mean? It's like, I was so against,
[13:44] Speaker 1: I had to change so many different, I had to
[13:46] Speaker 1: look at everything of life, Logan, differently bubble. I mean,
[13:51] Speaker 1: I don't, um, a lot of people who haven't experienced
[13:54] Speaker 1: that don't get it. I think that's one of our
[13:56] Speaker 1: kinships is I'm sure you were the same. Like I
[13:59] Speaker 1: can't look at, I mean, how I wiped my ass wrong.
[14:03] Speaker 1: I did. And you know what I'm saying? Like I
[14:05] Speaker 1: was just, just did everything. I had to reassess it all.
[14:09] Speaker 1: It seems like a different life now. It's a totally
[14:11] Speaker 1: different world.
[14:12] Speaker 3: And he asked you about, or you were just speaking
[14:14] Speaker 3: about like having trouble forgetting it.
[14:18] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[14:18] Speaker 3: And I, I was going to ask you, you know,
[14:20] Speaker 3: to tap on tack on top of that. How do
[14:23] Speaker 3: you practice making sure you fucking remember it? Because, because
[14:27] Speaker 3: I'll have days where I'm, where I'm, I get in
[14:30] Speaker 3: a fight with my assistant in my $ 5 million house
[14:33] Speaker 3: in the Hills.
[14:33] Speaker 1: And I'm like, man, fuck this day, bro.
[14:37] Speaker 3: And I get in my, my RSQA are $ 250, 000 car
[14:40] Speaker 3: and I fucking speed down the street. And I forget
[14:42] Speaker 3: that the last, you know, exactly what you said 14
[14:44] Speaker 3: years ago, I was driving a 1996 Ford Escape to
[14:49] Speaker 3: the gas station and putting $ 1.
[14:51] Speaker 1: 26 in the gas tank.
[14:52] Speaker 3: You remember putting fucking less than $ 2 in the gas tank?
[14:55] Speaker 3: How shitty that felt, knowing that you were going to
[14:57] Speaker 3: have to try to figure out how to find another
[14:58] Speaker 3: dollar to put in the gas tank to get to
[15:01] Speaker 3: the methadone clinic?
[15:02] Speaker 1: This is even deeper than just $ 1. 60. If you've ever
[15:05] Speaker 1: been in a place in life where you put a
[15:06] Speaker 1: certain number in the gas tank, You know what I mean?
[15:10] Speaker 1: I remember the first symbol of success for me was
[15:13] Speaker 1: the first time I swiped a debit card and was like,
[15:15] Speaker 1: I'm going to let that motherfucker go. You know what
[15:18] Speaker 1: I'm saying? And I remember watching it the whole time,
[15:21] Speaker 1: butt cheeks clenched a little bit. You know what I'm saying?
[15:24] Speaker 1: Stomach still tilting. I had a little money in the
[15:25] Speaker 1: bank by then, but I was still like, ooh, it
[15:27] Speaker 1: takes $ 80 to fill this drink up? I would have
[15:30] Speaker 1: never known. I've only done 50 at a time. You
[15:34] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? So those were the moments and Yeah,
[15:38] Speaker 1: coming from those moments, you're right though, but something else
[15:40] Speaker 1: I had to learn was identifying emotions. Because my first
[15:44] Speaker 1: problem was, one, there is a space, like recentering yourself
[15:48] Speaker 1: and your gratitude in that moment of like, why am
[15:50] Speaker 1: I tripping out on my assistant? This is my life,
[15:53] Speaker 1: this is unrealistic, right? Where it took me a long
[15:56] Speaker 1: enough to just go, what was the root of the problem, right?
[16:00] Speaker 1: Because for me, it just always was anger. It didn't
[16:02] Speaker 1: matter what it was. No matter what happened, it triggered
[16:04] Speaker 1: an anger. And then I would ruminate in it and
[16:06] Speaker 1: I would just get angrier. And I would just get
[16:08] Speaker 1: madder and madder and I would fester and just spiral.
[16:11] Speaker 1: And it just, it was just the never ending. So
[16:14] Speaker 1: I still have those days where I have to re-anchor,
[16:16] Speaker 1: but now I'm just more honest now. And I wake
[16:18] Speaker 1: up and be an asshole some mornings and then double
[16:20] Speaker 1: back and be like, Hey man, my bad. I just
[16:23] Speaker 1: did that. I just rectified this morning.
[16:25] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[16:25] Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, no, I have to, I have to
[16:27] Speaker 1: do it all the time because what I've learned is
[16:29] Speaker 1: I hate to go back to like cliche shit, but halt, hangry, angry, lonely, tired.
[16:36] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? We got a bunch of
[16:38] Speaker 1: drug addicts.
[16:38] Speaker 2: I've never heard that.
[16:39] Speaker 1: Wait, we got a bunch of shit. That's amazing. Yeah.
[16:42] Speaker 2: I'm tired.
[16:43] Speaker 1: Yeah. That's big. Halt. Pause. Pause, bro.
[16:47] Speaker 2: You're just tired.
[16:48] Speaker 1: That's awesome. Halt. I'm just tired. You find yourself getting
[16:51] Speaker 1: a little snappy or not feeling something the right way,
[16:53] Speaker 1: and you halt. Hold on. Am I hangry? Am I hungry?
[16:57] Speaker 1: Am I angry? You keep combining. Am I lonely? Yeah.
[16:59] Speaker 1: Am I lonely? Am I tired? You know what I mean?
[17:01] Speaker 1: And I started having just little things like that and
[17:03] Speaker 1: just hit them. A lot of the time, for me,
[17:05] Speaker 1: it's tired. You know, my dude knows I'm a bear.
[17:08] Speaker 1: If I'm super tired, but I also know that my
[17:11] Speaker 1: food addiction kicks in when I'm the tiredest. When I'm
[17:14] Speaker 1: the most tired is when I crave the most food
[17:17] Speaker 1: is when I can't fill myself up. When I'm tired
[17:20] Speaker 1: is when I want to go have a drink. When
[17:21] Speaker 1: it's when I want to do cocaine, I'm the most vulnerable.
[17:24] Speaker 2: It keeps you tired. Because when you try to sleep
[17:28] Speaker 2: after you eat or you drink, your sleep suffers. While
[17:32] Speaker 2: you're digesting food, you're fucking your whole system up.
[17:34] Speaker 1: So you just got.
[17:35] Speaker 2: That downward spiral that you described earlier, that can happen
[17:38] Speaker 2: pretty easily. And I think being aware of that for
[17:42] Speaker 2: someone like you, who's like, you lived it, I mean,
[17:46] Speaker 2: that's so important. Because then you can stop and you
[17:48] Speaker 2: can halt.
[17:48] Speaker 1: That's it. I can halt. I can go, all right,
[17:50] Speaker 1: what am I tripping about? You know what I mean? Now, admittedly,
[17:53] Speaker 1: sometimes I should have halted four hours. You know what
[17:55] Speaker 1: I'm saying? I'll be five. I'll be three days into
[17:58] Speaker 1: a need of a halt. You know what I'm saying?
[17:59] Speaker 1: You're in court. You're in court. And you're like, oh, oh,
[18:02] Speaker 1: it's too late. It's like, hold on. I was just
[18:05] Speaker 1: hungry and tired.
[18:08] Speaker 2: Well, especially this lifestyle you're living now, as you know,
[18:11] Speaker 2: you can do it a lot.
[18:12] Speaker 1: This is so good by already. This is what I
[18:14] Speaker 1: hope this would be. It's real shit. There's so much.
[18:17] Speaker 1: I was like, yay. I was going to ask you,
[18:20] Speaker 1: you walked in with Miles. Yes.
[18:22] Speaker 3: Because you've been talking about ongoing work. You've been talking,
[18:25] Speaker 3: you said Hall, getting in tune with your emotions. And
[18:28] Speaker 3: I wanted to ask you how much of that is
[18:30] Speaker 3: continuing to come in.
[18:32] Speaker 1: I bring up Miles because I just went to Onsite. Yes,
[18:35] Speaker 1: life changing.
[18:37] Speaker 3: Man, I had a real serendipitous journey there, bro. I
[18:41] Speaker 3: told Miles about it, but some crazy shit happened on
[18:44] Speaker 3: the way. And I'll give you the abridged version. But
[18:46] Speaker 3: another singer from LA had told me about Onsite, which
[18:48] Speaker 3: is this magical retreat in the hills north of Nashville,
[18:52] Speaker 3: which works on addressing trauma. People that are hurt, which
[18:55] Speaker 3: a lot of us are.
[18:56] Speaker 1: All of us are. She told me about it.
[18:58] Speaker 3: I put it in the bag for two weeks. I
[18:59] Speaker 3: see you at SummerSlam. It came up in conversation. She said, brother,
[19:02] Speaker 3: that place saved my life.
[19:04] Speaker 1: True story.
[19:05] Speaker 3: Two weeks after that, I bring up Carl Lentz. Pastor
[19:08] Speaker 3: Carl Lentz, who we had on the show four years ago.
[19:11] Speaker 3: I brought him up in conversation with my girlfriend. Not
[19:13] Speaker 3: one hour after I brought him up, after not seeing
[19:15] Speaker 3: him for four years, he appeared before me. He appeared
[19:18] Speaker 3: before me at the Rosewood in Montecito. I was having
[19:20] Speaker 3: lunch with my girlfriend. I brought up on-site to him.
[19:23] Speaker 3: He said, brother, that place saved my life. Actually?
[19:26] Speaker 1: Yep. Verbatim.
[19:28] Speaker 3: He said, saved my marriage. He said, fixed a lot
[19:31] Speaker 3: of things that I was working on.
[19:32] Speaker 1: True story.
[19:32] Speaker 3: I left that. I flew to Miami and went to
[19:34] Speaker 3: a church called Vu Church in Miami. Pastor Wilkerson sent
[19:40] Speaker 3: a message how great his sermon was, which was a
[19:43] Speaker 3: sermon on healing and the importance of healing. Maybe you're
[19:46] Speaker 3: not evil, maybe you're just empty and you need something
[19:49] Speaker 3: to fill it up. You need Christ to fill it up.
[19:51] Speaker 3: I sent him a message. I said, hey, your sermon
[19:52] Speaker 3: was very powerful. I appreciate that. He said, how long
[19:54] Speaker 3: are you in Miami for? I said, till Thursday. He said, oh, cool.
[19:57] Speaker 3: I'm going to Nashville on Thursday. I said, I'm going
[20:00] Speaker 3: to Nashville on Thursday. What flight are you on? He said,
[20:02] Speaker 3: 1.37 PM American. I said, what seat are you in?
[20:06] Speaker 1: No way. 2A, 2B. I was seated right next to him. What?
[20:11] Speaker 3: On the way to Onsite. In which I said to him, hey,
[20:14] Speaker 3: I'm going to Onsite. He said, I've heard great things
[20:16] Speaker 3: about that place.
[20:16] Speaker 1: It saved a lot of lives.
[20:18] Speaker 3: And before I got off the plane to go to
[20:20] Speaker 3: Onsite and drive the hour from the airport to the place,
[20:23] Speaker 3: he prayed.
[20:23] Speaker 1: He said a prayer for me. He's an incredible man,
[20:26] Speaker 1: Pastor Wilkerson Jr. out of Voo Church. So all of these.
[20:30] Speaker 3: Serendipitous things led me to Onsite, you being a part
[20:34] Speaker 3: of it. And I had an incredible experience there. I
[20:37] Speaker 3: got to do equine therapy with horses and learn how
[20:39] Speaker 3: to be present in the moment because horses don't allow
[20:43] Speaker 3: you to be not present. There's a massive animal next
[20:46] Speaker 3: to you who days, who knows?
[20:48] Speaker 1: That's a wildest animal, by the way. It's just, let
[20:51] Speaker 1: me tell you something about horses. They're, they're all wild.
[20:53] Speaker 1: Even the ones that are, they're just tame. Doesn't mean
[20:56] Speaker 1: they're not a wild horse. They're just, they have agreed
[20:58] Speaker 1: to let you do this, but it's an agreement. It's not,
[21:00] Speaker 1: that's what makes horses so special. You also heard about
[21:03] Speaker 1: their heart size, too. Four times the size of the human.
[21:07] Speaker 2: Touching on that, kind of like this serendipitous nature of signs,
[21:12] Speaker 2: if you want to call it, like the universe speaking
[21:15] Speaker 2: to you. Are you at all in touch with that
[21:17] Speaker 2: kind of ether?
[21:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. What he was just saying, I was going
[21:21] Speaker 1: to say, that whole journey of his, to me, sounds
[21:22] Speaker 1: like the alchemist. Yeah. Right? It's like the idea that
[21:26] Speaker 1: when he went all this way out of his way
[21:28] Speaker 1: to find out what he really needed was behind him,
[21:29] Speaker 1: he didn't hit a closed door on the way home.
[21:31] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? It's that thing of when
[21:35] Speaker 1: we're doing right, the universe conspires for us. I truly believe.
[21:38] Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I hit nothing but brick walls my
[21:41] Speaker 1: entire life. I have not ran into a closed door
[21:45] Speaker 1: in 36 months.
[21:46] Speaker 2: God bless you, and I hope it stays that way.
[21:49] Speaker 2: Because as someone who has had both, and you mentioned
[21:52] Speaker 2: in the beginning of this podcast that everyone hated you,
[21:55] Speaker 2: and I don't know if you were joking, if you
[21:56] Speaker 2: were serious.
[21:56] Speaker 1: I was dead serious.
[21:57] Speaker 2: So now everyone loves you, and I've had the opposite journey. Um,
[22:03] Speaker 2: everyone loves me and now they hate me.
[22:05] Speaker 1: Um, but so, so my only getting smarter, which is,
[22:10] Speaker 1: which is so true, you know, and I'm partially.
[22:12] Speaker 2: Being facetious, but not because, um, the more I simply exist,
[22:19] Speaker 2: the more people know about me, which gives them the
[22:21] Speaker 2: opportunity to choose what they like or don't like. And,
[22:24] Speaker 2: and I have had the ups and the downs and
[22:26] Speaker 2: the doors have been hitting me, dude. And also I've
[22:28] Speaker 2: been running through the fucking doors. It goes both ways.
[22:31] Speaker 2: So it's sort of a question in like, it feels,
[22:35] Speaker 2: I'm not going to give you advice because you already
[22:37] Speaker 2: know this, man, but like truly cherish the positive moments
[22:42] Speaker 2: where there isn't a worry in the world and the
[22:45] Speaker 2: world is blessing you because there may be a day,
[22:48] Speaker 2: as you know, where like you do have that feeling
[22:50] Speaker 2: again of whatever it is, impending dread, doom. Are you
[22:54] Speaker 2: prepared for that? Are you just trying to stay positive
[22:58] Speaker 2: about it? Are you aware that You know, because let's
[23:01] Speaker 2: be real, Mr.
[23:02] Speaker 1: Roll.
[23:03] Speaker 2: Can I call you that?
[23:04] Speaker 1: I prefer jelly, but I'll accept it. I'm on your podcast,
[23:08] Speaker 1: you know.
[23:08] Speaker 2: Let's be real, jelly. Like, man, good things can be
[23:12] Speaker 2: stripped from you in a second. In one second. And, like,
[23:15] Speaker 2: I've had it happen.
[23:18] Speaker 1: How do you... We have built-in defense mechanisms for that. No, seriously.
[23:23] Speaker 1: By way of prison and drug addiction. What, you guys?
[23:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just... They take away... we, not to speak
[23:30] Speaker 3: for you, but we've been in the gutter, like actually.
[23:34] Speaker 2: And I know you don't want to go back because
[23:35] Speaker 2: you know what it's like.
[23:37] Speaker 1: No, for sure. And also like, man, make no mistake,
[23:39] Speaker 1: shit's falling apart for me every day. When I say
[23:42] Speaker 1: I haven't hit a closed door, I mean, it's just
[23:43] Speaker 1: the faith. I'm just still walking in the right direction,
[23:45] Speaker 1: knowing it's worth it. I get shit kicked in my
[23:48] Speaker 1: face every day. That's part of it, right? And I'm
[23:52] Speaker 1: honest with people to tell you that I wake up
[23:54] Speaker 1: in the morning and I have to spend real time
[23:58] Speaker 1: fighting a monster inside of me loving a very dark
[24:02] Speaker 1: one like i have to wrestle this guy and really
[24:04] Speaker 1: really really get into my prayer closet and my faith
[24:07] Speaker 1: and my wife and communicate and be vulnerable this is
[24:11] Speaker 1: before i pick up the phone you know what i
[24:14] Speaker 1: mean like i know that about me because i know
[24:16] Speaker 1: that if i don't you know what i mean i
[24:18] Speaker 1: know the risk that i am to myself and other
[24:21] Speaker 1: people So it's like, trust me, it's just the way
[24:23] Speaker 1: that I approach it. I know, listen, I'll give you
[24:25] Speaker 1: the most recent example, but once again, how the universe
[24:28] Speaker 1: still worked. My dream was not, my dream once they
[24:31] Speaker 1: gave me Saturday Night Live, I was like, yo, a
[24:33] Speaker 1: skit is going to mean as much to me as singing.
[24:36] Speaker 1: Like that's the big deal. That's the chance to show
[24:38] Speaker 1: that I'm more than a singer. It could open up
[24:39] Speaker 1: a thousand other doors. This is the biggest program ever.
[24:42] Speaker 1: This is Saturday Night Fucking Live. We're there Friday and
[24:45] Speaker 1: they go, got you in a skit. Colin wrote it.
[24:50] Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, it's a Colin skit. This is going
[24:52] Speaker 1: to be fire. And we come in for dress rehearsals
[24:55] Speaker 1: and we shoot the skit. And you know how dress
[24:56] Speaker 1: rehearsals are. I've never done Saturday Night Live, so I'm
[24:58] Speaker 1: learning all this. Over for time, skit gets cut. You
[25:03] Speaker 1: know what I mean? You're just like, ah. But you're
[25:04] Speaker 1: still like, man, fuck, I'm singing on Saturday Night Live.
[25:07] Speaker 1: So you're just so like, whatever. Skit still went on YouTube.
[25:10] Speaker 1: Still went up, still got the virality. I hoped it would.
[25:12] Speaker 1: It's the only skit that got cut that made it
[25:14] Speaker 1: on YouTube. It shows me I was seen. Lorne Michaels
[25:16] Speaker 1: praised me for what I did in the skit. Colin
[25:18] Speaker 1: thought I killed it. You know what I'm saying? So
[25:20] Speaker 1: it's like, even if the skit wouldn't have got seen,
[25:22] Speaker 1: it was a small W for me. You know what
[25:25] Speaker 1: I mean? But it's like, I'm just learning how to
[25:27] Speaker 1: pivot and look at them different. It's also about how
[25:29] Speaker 1: I started looking at things. I started looking at things
[25:32] Speaker 1: through the lens of love, man. Sometimes you can run
[25:33] Speaker 1: into the door and you just got to look at
[25:35] Speaker 1: the door and go, where's the love at in this?
[25:38] Speaker 1: And as long as I can find the love in it,
[25:39] Speaker 1: I can take any shitty situation and figure it out.
[25:41] Speaker 1: You have haters?
[25:42] Speaker 2: Of course.
[25:43] Speaker 1: Fuck, dude. I'm a fat dude. Watch the comments. It's
[25:45] Speaker 1: finna happen. Yeah, I'm fat with a pretty wife. You
[25:47] Speaker 1: think there ain't somebody in here right now? But do
[25:49] Speaker 1: I have haters? Come on. You know two people to
[25:53] Speaker 1: get hated the most is handsome people and fat people.
[25:55] Speaker 1: You're handsome and I'm We should really relate to each other.
[25:58] Speaker 1: Let's collab. You know what I'm saying? That's what I
[26:00] Speaker 1: tell MGK all the time. I'm like, you're fashionable. I'm not.
[26:03] Speaker 1: I'm fat and frumpy. You're tall and skinny and cute.
[26:06] Speaker 1: And that's fucking how we connect. Because they hate you
[26:08] Speaker 1: for that. They hate me for this. You guys didn't
[26:11] Speaker 1: always connect. No. No, no, no. I was a hater. No, no, no.
[26:18] Speaker 3: Because he's fashionable. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you guys are
[26:22] Speaker 3: pretty inseparable nowadays.
[26:23] Speaker 1: Man, I love that. I love him, man. I love
[26:26] Speaker 1: where his heart's at right now. I love that the
[26:27] Speaker 1: world's getting to see his soul. I sat down with
[26:30] Speaker 1: him earlier this year and had a conversation with him
[26:33] Speaker 1: and I was like, hey, man, I think that you
[26:34] Speaker 1: haven't maybe executed telling your story the right way. I
[26:38] Speaker 1: was like, I think you've allowed the art to do
[26:39] Speaker 1: all the talking and the headlines and the art's incredible
[26:42] Speaker 1: and we get it, but, you know, between the fashion
[26:45] Speaker 1: and the headlines, it kind of, you know, I was like,
[26:46] Speaker 1: if people knew your soul and the change you've had
[26:49] Speaker 1: and the man you've become, I was like, I think
[26:51] Speaker 1: the whole world would look at you, you know, different
[26:53] Speaker 1: as if you're not wildly successful anyways, and like y'all's pod,
[26:57] Speaker 1: like how vulnerable, like how honest to see that. You know?
[26:59] Speaker 1: That's what we were kind of.
[27:01] Speaker 3: Hoping he would do when he came on and he did. It's,
[27:05] Speaker 3: when you tell your story for the first time, I
[27:07] Speaker 3: think it's, I would say, I think.
[27:11] Speaker 1: He was a bit nervous.
[27:13] Speaker 2: I was going to say this. I still don't think
[27:16] Speaker 2: the world has really seen Colson.
[27:17] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[27:18] Speaker 1: No, not like, not the way he's just starting to
[27:20] Speaker 1: chip the surface though. He's just now getting comfortable enough
[27:22] Speaker 1: sitting here and having long form conversations. Cause you've hung
[27:25] Speaker 1: out with him. Like I have, I love him. He's
[27:28] Speaker 1: the sweetest, funniest dude ever.
[27:31] Speaker 2: He's also goofy.
[27:31] Speaker 1: He's the goofy. He's so he's hilarious.
[27:34] Speaker 2: He's hilarious. And you know what I think it is?
[27:36] Speaker 2: I think the industry that he's in, like white hip
[27:38] Speaker 2: hop artists, if you don't appear a little jaded and
[27:41] Speaker 2: a little hard, I wonder if, I wonder if in,
[27:44] Speaker 2: in his head, Maybe that would, people's perception of him
[27:48] Speaker 2: may change. And I think that, I don't know.
[27:50] Speaker 1: I don't want to speak for him. It's starting to happen.
[27:52] Speaker 1: It's starting to happen, though. You can feel the thing
[27:55] Speaker 1: coming to him. There's also just a little bit of Cleveland.
[27:58] Speaker 1: for sure it's like a little bit of you y'all
[27:59] Speaker 1: got a little fuck you and y'all that's just being
[28:02] Speaker 1: from cleveland i've been to cleveland that's how cleveland that's
[28:04] Speaker 1: kind of the charming part of the city.
[28:06] Speaker 2: He's from he's from really from actual cleveland i'll be
[28:08] Speaker 2: honest i'm from west side dude it's a suburb it's
[28:10] Speaker 2: a suburb outside cleveland i just say.
[28:11] Speaker 1: It's like franklin being from franklin okay yeah yeah but
[28:14] Speaker 1: still it's like cleveland people are like you know they're
[28:17] Speaker 1: very prideful people and they're very like fuck you were
[28:19] Speaker 1: from cleveland kind of people.
[28:20] Speaker 2: It's fun to watch that come out of him like
[28:22] Speaker 2: i'll be talking to him Sweetheart, Goofy, Fun Colson, and
[28:25] Speaker 2: then that hard side does come out.
[28:28] Speaker 1: For sure. No, 100%. It happens. His fangs. Actual fangs,
[28:31] Speaker 1: by the way. No, no. Yeah, he got them big babies, too, dog.
[28:34] Speaker 1: He got them chompers.
[28:35] Speaker 2: He said on our podcast that you still drive everywhere
[28:39] Speaker 2: when you can. You still drive. personally, driving yourself to
[28:43] Speaker 2: the venue to, by the way, headline an event, and
[28:46] Speaker 2: you're parking your car. Why not get a driver?
[28:49] Speaker 1: Man, I don't know. I'm from a place where I
[28:52] Speaker 1: always drove myself. I don't know why I wouldn't. I
[28:54] Speaker 1: think it's like that's been the hardest part of being
[28:59] Speaker 1: successful is things change that you're like, but why would
[29:02] Speaker 1: this change? And some things have a really good reason,
[29:05] Speaker 1: and when it really came down to having a driver,
[29:07] Speaker 1: I just couldn't figure it out. I just couldn't really
[29:08] Speaker 1: put a good reason of like, And like, I get
[29:11] Speaker 1: in the car and it's my time. I listen to
[29:12] Speaker 1: my demos, my music. I call my wife or my brothers.
[29:17] Speaker 1: I'm real family guy and have private conversations. And I
[29:20] Speaker 1: do the speaker phones. Cause I'm a law abiding citizen
[29:23] Speaker 1: these days. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, yeah,
[29:26] Speaker 1: I just like it, man. It's cool. Kelz is always joking.
[29:28] Speaker 1: So it's funny. Cause me, I pull up on Kelz
[29:30] Speaker 1: and it's like a movie on Grammy night. I'm like,
[29:32] Speaker 1: hop in. And he's looking around like, huh? But he's
[29:37] Speaker 1: just as weird as I am. because we're at stagecoach
[29:39] Speaker 1: this year and listen I'm pulling out of stagecoach and
[29:42] Speaker 1: him and his girl and Baze and his two homies
[29:45] Speaker 1: are walking down the main street of stagecoach trying to
[29:50] Speaker 1: find where they parked. I was like, I pull up
[29:53] Speaker 1: on him. I'm like, are you okay? He's like, nah, man,
[29:55] Speaker 1: we're just trying to find where we're going. I was like,
[29:57] Speaker 1: do you want to ride? This is MGK and Megan Fox, dude.
[30:00] Speaker 1: He's like, no, we're straight. And she looks up. She's like,
[30:02] Speaker 1: we're cool. And I just kept on walking. I turned
[30:05] Speaker 1: around and I guess somebody came and picked him up
[30:07] Speaker 1: by then. But I was like, how long were they
[30:08] Speaker 1: all out there? He's like, I don't know, 15 minutes,
[30:09] Speaker 1: just fucking off.
[30:10] Speaker 2: That's why, that's why, that's why he's great. And that's
[30:12] Speaker 2: probably why you guys get along. It's like, there's still
[30:14] Speaker 2: a semblance of normalcy given this epitome, abnormal life that you.
[30:18] Speaker 1: Guys are living oh for sure you know.
[30:20] Speaker 2: And and you're lucky that uh i don't you know
[30:23] Speaker 2: i i that happened to me i i think i'm
[30:26] Speaker 2: like at least now especially like relatively normal in real
[30:29] Speaker 2: life because i'm a dad and stuff because i've been
[30:32] Speaker 2: humbled right like really humbled and i i've taken that
[30:36] Speaker 2: as an opportunity to like become a person again which
[30:39] Speaker 2: i like um And that's certainly why you and Colson,
[30:43] Speaker 2: I think, are partial buddies.
[30:45] Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, my heart hurts for guys like you and
[30:48] Speaker 1: Kels for a little bit of this reason of, I
[30:52] Speaker 1: was afforded the luxury of, because my hardships were an
[30:55] Speaker 1: advantage in the aspect of, I was afforded the luxury of,
[30:57] Speaker 1: I didn't have to do all my growing in front
[30:59] Speaker 1: of everybody. For sure. Same with you. Yeah. You know
[31:02] Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, it's like, you know, like, we've
[31:04] Speaker 1: had to really watch, like, I've been watching Kels his
[31:08] Speaker 1: whole career.
[31:09] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
[31:09] Speaker 1: I've been watching most of yours. Like I said, I
[31:11] Speaker 1: started on YouTube. My first thing I ever uploaded song-wise,
[31:14] Speaker 1: any platform, was on YouTube. I was a YouTube kid.
[31:16] Speaker 1: What year? My daughter's 16, so this was 15 years ago. 2009, yeah.
[31:25] Speaker 2: That's generation one, basically.
[31:27] Speaker 1: I'm thinking 08, 09. I put it to you this way.
[31:29] Speaker 1: You're going to get this. A lot of people don't.
[31:32] Speaker 1: I'm going to pop quiz. Let's go. The first thing
[31:34] Speaker 1: I ever uploaded on YouTube was called the 10-Minute Freestyle.
[31:38] Speaker 1: Can you guess why it was 10 minutes?
[31:40] Speaker 2: Probably had a max duration.
[31:42] Speaker 1: Yes, sir. Nobody gets that. Back then, YouTube would only
[31:45] Speaker 1: let a 10-minute and 17-second video go up. We called
[31:48] Speaker 1: it the 10-minute freestyle, but it was really 10 minutes
[31:50] Speaker 1: and 17 seconds. We had a 25-minute one. Did it
[31:52] Speaker 1: just end? Yeah, we just, yeah, yeah. Well, we were
[31:55] Speaker 1: chopping it up, and at 10.17, it just hard out. Yeah,
[31:58] Speaker 1: for sure.
[31:58] Speaker 2: Dude, I'm so curious about your talent. Talent in general
[32:03] Speaker 2: kind of makes me really curious because you very clearly
[32:07] Speaker 2: have a, god-given talent singers specifically artists you know you're
[32:13] Speaker 2: you're born with your voice sounding a certain way that
[32:16] Speaker 2: that appeals to a lot of people um how how
[32:22] Speaker 2: i guess without being a fucking a dickhead with a
[32:25] Speaker 2: talent like yours how did you not become successful sooner.
[32:29] Speaker 1: Oh i was i was in the wrong i was
[32:31] Speaker 1: in the uh i was in the right room with
[32:33] Speaker 1: the wrong furniture that was the problem I was writing
[32:38] Speaker 1: the right kind of songs. I was saying the right things.
[32:40] Speaker 1: I've been consistent in my message and who I am
[32:43] Speaker 1: for a decade now, right? This has been the better
[32:45] Speaker 1: part of my last, especially eight years since I got married.
[32:48] Speaker 1: That really was the beginning of me being like, I
[32:50] Speaker 1: want to get together because real love will just have
[32:53] Speaker 1: you want to change things. You know what I mean?
[32:57] Speaker 1: And I just couldn't. I just started, and I kept
[33:00] Speaker 1: feeling it getting closer, and then the furniture started getting right.
[33:03] Speaker 1: But I was always in the right room. I think
[33:04] Speaker 1: it was Save Me was the beginning of it. I
[33:06] Speaker 1: put a song on YouTube called Save Me that went
[33:09] Speaker 1: pretty viral. And it was the first song where I
[33:11] Speaker 1: was like a super slow 6'8 ballad of me just
[33:15] Speaker 1: belting the struggles of pain. You know what I mean?
[33:18] Speaker 1: Just like ass cheeks clenched, just screaming my soul out.
[33:21] Speaker 1: And I'd never put a song out like that. And, man,
[33:25] Speaker 1: it just instantly. And I was like, man, this is,
[33:27] Speaker 1: cause this was the kind of songs I was writing
[33:29] Speaker 1: and recording, but not putting on my albums. I had
[33:32] Speaker 1: like songs like this that I was just not putting out.
[33:35] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I was like, oh my God.
[33:37] Speaker 1: All right, well, cool. People accept this kind of honest vulnerability.
[33:40] Speaker 1: I'm in. So that's, that's kind of where it was.
[33:42] Speaker 1: It was crazy. I was just, just couldn't figure out
[33:44] Speaker 1: the furniture.
[33:45] Speaker 2: How do you handle the fame?
[33:48] Speaker 1: I don't feel famous. I don't feel, listen, when I
[33:51] Speaker 1: was in Antioch, everybody knew me. I'm from a small neighborhood.
[33:54] Speaker 1: Everybody knew everybody. I just run around and people say, hey, Jelly,
[33:57] Speaker 1: it's nothing like, and equally, I've been blessed to have
[34:00] Speaker 1: friends like Dwayne Johnson, who was famous. I was blessed
[34:07] Speaker 1: to work with guys like MGK and Eminem. They're famous.
[34:12] Speaker 1: So when I look at me, I'm like, Luke Combs
[34:14] Speaker 1: is famous. Jelly Roll is not famous. Garth Brooks, famous.
[34:17] Speaker 1: Jelly Roll, not famous.
[34:18] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[34:21] Speaker 1: It's all relative, right? All right.
[34:23] Speaker 2: When you look at it like that, if you're comparing
[34:24] Speaker 2: yourself to Dwayne Johnson, none of us are famous. You're
[34:28] Speaker 2: obviously like super identifiable. You have face tats, you know, like,
[34:33] Speaker 2: like my brother, for example, walks around big beard tattoos. Like, you,
[34:37] Speaker 2: you know, that's Jake Paul. It's hard to not see him.
[34:39] Speaker 2: And similar with you. It's like, you're, you're very clearly
[34:42] Speaker 2: like this entity. You're famous, brother. You're famous. And I
[34:45] Speaker 2: know you felt the life change. Like people approach you
[34:47] Speaker 2: in the street. Jelly Roll, can I get a picture?
[34:49] Speaker 1: But it's just like a bigger Antioch. It's just a
[34:51] Speaker 1: bigger neighborhood. Everybody knows you now, but it's just a
[34:54] Speaker 1: bigger neighborhood. Because I think I've been blessed that the
[34:56] Speaker 1: people that do speak to me make me feel that way.
[34:59] Speaker 1: Like nobody comes up to me weird. They're always like,
[35:01] Speaker 1: what's up, Jelly? It just makes me feel like I'm
[35:03] Speaker 1: back home.
[35:03] Speaker 3: But it's because of who you are. It's because you're
[35:07] Speaker 3: real and authentic. And you talk about, dude, there's nothing more.
[35:11] Speaker 3: Entertainment's entertainment. People love to watch Dwayne Johnson. They love
[35:15] Speaker 3: to watch a movie. They love to, you know, and
[35:17] Speaker 3: he's got, and he's got struggles. I'm not trying to
[35:18] Speaker 3: discount those, but there's nothing more relatable to people that
[35:22] Speaker 3: will make them want to come up and hug you
[35:23] Speaker 3: more than knowing that you, that you go through or
[35:25] Speaker 3: went through the shit that they do.
[35:27] Speaker 1: Right.
[35:27] Speaker 3: That's the most beautiful. That's the best thing that I've
[35:29] Speaker 3: taken out of this whole experience. Putting out the fifth vital,
[35:31] Speaker 3: having people come up to me crying, be like, Oh,
[35:33] Speaker 3: I understand addiction. I understand heroin. Now I understand why
[35:35] Speaker 3: my mom took her life. Like all that shit. That's,
[35:39] Speaker 3: That's what gets me. It's not like, oh, I saw
[35:41] Speaker 3: you made this joke or you worked with this person.
[35:43] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
[35:45] Speaker 3: That authentic relatability is the most beautiful thing in the world.
[35:49] Speaker 3: And like even sitting here with you, like a lot
[35:53] Speaker 3: of the shit you're talking about is stuff I want
[35:54] Speaker 3: to know more about. And there's people out there that
[35:55] Speaker 3: want to know more about it. Like that monster that
[35:58] Speaker 3: you fight every morning.
[35:59] Speaker 1: Who is he?
[36:00] Speaker 3: And most importantly, what do you do? What does your
[36:04] Speaker 3: morning look like? So that maybe they could replicate it. Well,
[36:07] Speaker 3: it starts with I had to get away from the
[36:09] Speaker 3: electronics in the morning. Like it was like I got
[36:13] Speaker 3: in this bad habit. I don't know if y'all do it.
[36:15] Speaker 3: Maybe y'all are already smarter than me, but I would
[36:17] Speaker 3: wake straight up and grab my phone. And I tell
[36:20] Speaker 3: you what, it's it's a gamble because there's very seldom
[36:22] Speaker 3: great news on it.
[36:23] Speaker 1: Right. It's always it's life kicking us in the face.
[36:26] Speaker 1: And I don't know about y'all, but my phone, I
[36:29] Speaker 1: go phone this about six months a year because my
[36:31] Speaker 1: phone is just a benevolence box. It's just, it's just people,
[36:35] Speaker 1: it's just a request line. Right. That's just it. So I,
[36:38] Speaker 1: once I identified that, you know, it's just people want stuff.
[36:41] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? It's like, it's just how
[36:42] Speaker 1: that works. Right. Um, so it's, you know how it works, right?
[36:46] Speaker 1: I'm not being fake here.
[36:48] Speaker 2: Someone wants them for me. They don't have my number.
[36:50] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
[36:51] Speaker 2: No, it shouldn't be like that.
[36:52] Speaker 1: I'm working on that, but it's like, I'm just still
[36:54] Speaker 1: so compassionate and I just, it's a, I have a
[36:57] Speaker 1: bad relationship with my phone. So I've just, I'm so
[37:00] Speaker 1: bad with it. I either won't have one or overly
[37:02] Speaker 1: have one. It's my addictive personality anyways. It's a, Like
[37:05] Speaker 1: right now, I've lost 100 pounds this year because I'm
[37:07] Speaker 1: just obsessed with getting my fucking weight and health together. Wow.
[37:11] Speaker 1: Good for you. You know what I mean? But equally,
[37:13] Speaker 1: I'm also, the flip side of that personality is I've
[37:15] Speaker 1: had a year that I gained 100 pounds before. You
[37:18] Speaker 1: know what I mean? So it's like, you know, I'm
[37:20] Speaker 1: constantly fighting that. So sometimes in the morning, I wake
[37:23] Speaker 1: up and just kind of get in my own head.
[37:24] Speaker 1: Gratitude list early. First thing, you're probably very familiar with
[37:29] Speaker 1: this process. Are you familiar with the gratitudes in the mornings? Yeah.
[37:32] Speaker 2: I say gratitude prayers every night, but I'm not familiar
[37:36] Speaker 2: with this.
[37:38] Speaker 1: I love a gratitude prayer though, I get it. So
[37:39] Speaker 1: in the morning, something about me writing still, because I
[37:43] Speaker 1: guess I'm a songwriter and I want to write stuff.
[37:46] Speaker 1: I'll still wake up and write just basic like, man,
[37:49] Speaker 1: I'm grateful I woke up next to my wife this morning.
[37:52] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like early in the morning,
[37:54] Speaker 1: I'm sowing them seeds of gratitude. That's because if I don't,
[37:58] Speaker 1: I might walk right out here. Got a busy schedule.
[38:00] Speaker 1: Didn't get my stuff together. I didn't get my gratitude. Listen,
[38:03] Speaker 1: I didn't get a cold plunge in. I didn't get
[38:05] Speaker 1: to pray. I didn't get to spend a few minutes
[38:07] Speaker 1: with myself. You know what I mean? I didn't get
[38:09] Speaker 1: to hug on my dog. My dog makes me happy.
[38:11] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? It's like, I just, and
[38:13] Speaker 1: then I find myself yelling at my guy. You know
[38:15] Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Upset. Cause he fumbled the ball on
[38:17] Speaker 1: something small. You know what I mean? It's like, where
[38:19] Speaker 1: if I, so I try to get up and I
[38:20] Speaker 1: kill that guy. And I also, man, between us, I
[38:26] Speaker 1: don't know if I want to go that deep, but
[38:28] Speaker 1: I still have to fight the, like, do I want
[38:30] Speaker 1: to get up some days? You know what I mean? Like,
[38:34] Speaker 1: and it sucks because I'm have purpose. Finally, I'm useful.
[38:38] Speaker 1: I'm everything I ever prayed for. I've got financially security.
[38:41] Speaker 1: I've got everything I ever wanted. And I still wake
[38:43] Speaker 1: up some days and have to be like, I don't know.
[38:51] Speaker 1: I can relate to that for sure.
[38:52] Speaker 3: And it's, and it's such a wild, animal for people
[38:57] Speaker 3: out there to understand that don't understand it.
[38:59] Speaker 1: You know, it's just such a, it's such a paradox.
[39:03] Speaker 3: Because you look at someone who's successful, got the wife,
[39:09] Speaker 3: got the family, got the money and wonder, how is
[39:13] Speaker 3: that not enough? We, we, we, I see it all
[39:15] Speaker 3: the time with people talking about it on, on social media.
[39:19] Speaker 1: Oh, you have depression. No, you don't go to the gym.
[39:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[39:22] Speaker 1: Go to the gym. eat better. I'm not saying those
[39:25] Speaker 1: things aren't going to help you. And they do. They do.
[39:27] Speaker 1: They do. Get loved ones around you. Get a network.
[39:29] Speaker 1: Get a network. Get in the sun. But, bro. I
[39:32] Speaker 1: got to get out of bed to do that. For sure.
[39:34] Speaker 1: And that's what I tell people. And then nobody's in
[39:36] Speaker 1: there to pull me out of that bed. Nobody's in
[39:39] Speaker 1: there to drag me to that gym. And I have
[39:41] Speaker 1: to fight that dude. That's the dude I have to fight.
[39:44] Speaker 1: Because that dude, that dude, that dude is scary. You
[39:48] Speaker 1: know what I mean? That dude scares me. And that's
[39:51] Speaker 1: the demon. That's the monster. But I've learned, I mean,
[39:54] Speaker 1: I've been working towards fighting this dude for years. You
[39:56] Speaker 1: know what I mean? And I'm winning a lot more
[39:59] Speaker 1: than I've ever won. I'm kind of kicking his fucking ass.
[40:01] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I'm kicking his fucking ass.
[40:03] Speaker 1: But you know what I mean? But I had to
[40:04] Speaker 1: realize that this was a real thing in my life.
[40:06] Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
[40:07] Speaker 3: Do you know how important, you know this, to understand
[40:11] Speaker 3: how important this conversation is.
[40:13] Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
[40:13] Speaker 3: Like, like it's just such a, like, I'm so happy.
[40:15] Speaker 3: I hate that you had to have this moment. Cause
[40:17] Speaker 3: I hate that you're going through pain. But this is
[40:20] Speaker 3: just such a necessary moment. It's like something that I've
[40:23] Speaker 3: always aspired to talk about too. Like that feeling of
[40:26] Speaker 3: dread of not feeling okay, no matter how okay things
[40:32] Speaker 3: seem around me.
[40:33] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? That being okay and that
[40:35] Speaker 1: being something that could be worked on. Oh, yeah. Question
[40:37] Speaker 1: for you. Or now, the idea of, you know, just fucking,
[40:42] Speaker 1: now you got something. You're like, God, I don't want
[40:44] Speaker 1: to fuck it up. That's a whole new problem. I
[40:48] Speaker 1: never knew the pressure that would come with just being like, whoa, man,
[40:51] Speaker 1: I have so many people that count on me not
[40:53] Speaker 1: completely fucking blowing. I don't know about y'all. I got
[40:55] Speaker 1: a history of fucking shit up. I've got a long
[40:58] Speaker 1: history of like really blowing shit.
[41:01] Speaker 2: I can't relate.
[41:03] Speaker 1: Right?
[41:03] Speaker 2: Can't relate.
[41:04] Speaker 1: It's like I've got a history of blowing it. You
[41:06] Speaker 1: know what I mean?
[41:06] Speaker 3: That's going to be one of the hardest things. That's
[41:09] Speaker 3: going to be one of the hardest things to give up.
[41:11] Speaker 3: Your managers, you're going to be, unless you work on that,
[41:17] Speaker 3: I'm six years in now and every day feels like, bro,
[41:20] Speaker 3: if I don't take this brand, if I don't do
[41:22] Speaker 3: this deal today, if I don't do this show today,
[41:23] Speaker 3: if I don't do this thing today, tomorrow it's over.
[41:25] Speaker 2: I see it.
[41:26] Speaker 3: Like, like bro, that crack mentality, crackhead mentality that like, yo,
[41:30] Speaker 3: I got to get my dose. Otherwise, yo, tomorrow this
[41:33] Speaker 3: shit could all go down.
[41:34] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[41:35] Speaker 1: It's, you got to put that thing away.
[41:37] Speaker 3: And I've tried to, I've tried to get to a
[41:39] Speaker 3: point where like, yo, the shit that I'm working on
[41:40] Speaker 3: has strategic value and I'm doing real work, but it's,
[41:43] Speaker 3: that's that drug mentality. And that's what I kind of
[41:46] Speaker 3: want to ask you about too. I did a roundtable
[41:50] Speaker 3: yesterday with Bobby Kennedy in Philly.
[41:53] Speaker 1: Oh, dope.
[41:54] Speaker 3: And a number of other people that talk about the
[41:57] Speaker 3: rolling out of a strategy to get addicts back into
[42:00] Speaker 3: the workforce, which I fucking love. We as a country
[42:03] Speaker 3: are suffering from a GDP that isn't growing as fast
[42:06] Speaker 3: as we need it to. And it's one of the
[42:07] Speaker 3: reasons why we're not a competitive country right now. We've
[42:11] Speaker 3: got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of very
[42:16] Speaker 3: good people who need to be reformed into us.
[42:21] Speaker 1: Right. Or at least some version of us. You know
[42:23] Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
[42:24] Speaker 3: And these are great people. They're not fucking scumbags like
[42:27] Speaker 3: they get labeled as. We're not scumbags. We're people who
[42:31] Speaker 3: got lost along our way and are now finding our way.
[42:33] Speaker 1: For sure.
[42:34] Speaker 3: And I don't know about you, but one of the
[42:36] Speaker 3: things that I know is your daughter, but for me,
[42:39] Speaker 3: One of the things that gave me my first self-esteem
[42:41] Speaker 3: to continue being clean after I got clean was getting
[42:44] Speaker 3: a job.
[42:44] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[42:45] Speaker 3: And finding some self-esteem in a body that had never
[42:48] Speaker 3: felt that shit before.
[42:49] Speaker 1: Tell them the job. I was a dog walker. Oh.
[42:52] Speaker 1: And I got that job. It's actually kind of therapeutic, though.
[42:55] Speaker 1: It's actually, by default, a great job. I'm about to
[42:56] Speaker 1: go back to that. Yeah, right? It was fucking awesome.
[43:00] Speaker 1: You're going to shoot a TV show about it, I'm sure, right? Yeah,
[43:02] Speaker 1: something like that.
[43:03] Speaker 3: My older sister took a chance on me and introduced
[43:07] Speaker 3: me to some people. And she took a real risk, bro,
[43:09] Speaker 3: and brought me into a circle that I did not
[43:10] Speaker 3: deserve to be in. And I asked Bobby Kennedy yesterday,
[43:14] Speaker 3: I said, how do we democratize what my older sister
[43:17] Speaker 3: did for me? How do we get other business owners,
[43:20] Speaker 3: other people.
[43:20] Speaker 1: To say, these are hard... You know how strong fucking
[43:25] Speaker 1: addicts are.
[43:25] Speaker 3: If you're an addict and you're still working today and
[43:28] Speaker 3: you're still here trying your best, bro, you're the strongest
[43:31] Speaker 3: human on this planet, bro.
[43:33] Speaker 1: Because how much shit.
[43:36] Speaker 3: In this underworld that people don't even know about, bro,
[43:40] Speaker 3: do you know about it? In that world that is,
[43:42] Speaker 3: it's in.
[43:42] Speaker 1: The shadows, bro.
[43:44] Speaker 3: That grind, that daily grind of just trying to survive
[43:48] Speaker 3: every fucking day for years. I did it for eight
[43:52] Speaker 3: plus years of just every day trying to just survive
[43:56] Speaker 3: through the terrors, bro.
[43:58] Speaker 1: Bro, you told me you've shot at, whatever, like everything, bro.
[44:04] Speaker 1: All the horrors. Been through it all. My thing is too, though,
[44:07] Speaker 1: is that it even expands past just finding a way
[44:12] Speaker 1: to get them finding a way to give people purpose.
[44:16] Speaker 1: What really changed my life was my daughter became purpose.
[44:20] Speaker 1: And then music became purpose. And then as the music
[44:22] Speaker 1: started helping people, because I was writing these just sultry,
[44:26] Speaker 1: honest songs, the people were like, when people were seeing
[44:30] Speaker 1: me in the streets, they wasn't going, hey man, I
[44:32] Speaker 1: bump your shit. They were going, hey man, we listened
[44:34] Speaker 1: to that song at my nephew's funeral. He overdosed. My
[44:39] Speaker 1: cousin got shot and we played this song at his overpass.
[44:41] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like I was getting these, these, like,
[44:45] Speaker 1: I was like, then you start finding more purpose and
[44:47] Speaker 1: moving in that. It's like anything for somebody is purpose,
[44:50] Speaker 1: like getting them a job, getting somebody on the right track, getting,
[44:55] Speaker 1: getting somebody a place that they can up hobbies. God, man.
[44:59] Speaker 1: I remember the weirdest thing too was, man, I got
[45:01] Speaker 1: a problem. I had a problem too with my addiction
[45:03] Speaker 1: whenever I was, I just addiction swapped and went and
[45:06] Speaker 1: put it all into this. Like, oh, I'm just gonna,
[45:08] Speaker 1: the business was all that mattered. And then when I'd
[45:11] Speaker 1: have downtime, the demons were coming again. You know what
[45:14] Speaker 1: I mean? It was like, I was scared to go
[45:15] Speaker 1: to sleep. That's where the ghosts were. You know what
[45:17] Speaker 1: I mean? It was that kind of thing.
[45:18] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[45:18] Speaker 1: Cause, cause I, there's a, there's this scene in Euphoria.
[45:21] Speaker 1: Did you watch Euphoria? The show? You've got to watch it. Really?
[45:25] Speaker 1: It's such an incredible show. I have a teenage daughter,
[45:27] Speaker 1: and I started to watch it, and it immediately disgusted me.
[45:30] Speaker 1: It is.
[45:31] Speaker 3: Okay, I hear you. But if you get a chance
[45:33] Speaker 3: to watch it as an adult without the– and also.
[45:35] Speaker 1: Well, I didn't watch it with her. I meant like
[45:37] Speaker 1: just having a teenage daughter and realizing that this underworld
[45:41] Speaker 1: they created was supposed to be kids between 14 and 19.
[45:44] Speaker 1: But the problem is it is, though. It's not this
[45:47] Speaker 1: fictitious world. No, it's not like that. What do you mean?
[45:50] Speaker 1: I lived in it. No, no, no. It's exactly that.
[45:53] Speaker 2: Is that true?
[45:54] Speaker 1: Yes, 100%, bro.
[45:55] Speaker 2: I don't want to completely.
[45:56] Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. You can't sweep it under the rug.
[46:00] Speaker 1: It's a true story. It's happening in places. Yeah.
[46:03] Speaker 3: Anyways, regardless, there's a scene in Euphoria with Zendaya's character, Rue,
[46:09] Speaker 3: who says the first time she did drugs was the
[46:13] Speaker 3: first time that she felt safe in her own head.
[46:15] Speaker 2: Mm.
[46:16] Speaker 1: It's the only time she felt safe in her own head.
[46:19] Speaker 1: And I got goosebumps.
[46:20] Speaker 3: I saw the scene and immediately got goosebumps, bro, because
[46:23] Speaker 3: it brought me back to sniffing Oxycontin and thinking to myself, like, wow,
[46:26] Speaker 3: all that shit went away.
[46:28] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So is that the reason
[46:31] Speaker 1: why you use drugs? I've always tried to track back
[46:36] Speaker 1: what it was for me. I think it just was
[46:39] Speaker 1: a cultural thing. Like, my father was a drinker. Like
[46:45] Speaker 1: I was in my late teens. I was in my
[46:47] Speaker 1: early teens before I realized that vodka wasn't a sweetener.
[46:50] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Like if you watched a
[46:53] Speaker 1: man poured in a Stanley thermos every day, you would
[46:56] Speaker 1: eventually just be like, this is sweet and love. You
[46:58] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? It's like, you don't think about
[47:00] Speaker 1: it in a bad way. And I love my father.
[47:02] Speaker 1: He taught me more than anybody in my life. He's
[47:04] Speaker 1: a great man, but he drank, you know what I mean?
[47:06] Speaker 1: Especially he got a little more soberish later in life,
[47:08] Speaker 1: but he was early drank my mother. Did drugs. The
[47:12] Speaker 1: neighbor did drugs. They smoked crack across the street. They
[47:14] Speaker 1: smoked crack next door. They smoked crack at the top
[47:16] Speaker 1: of the hill. They shot heroin. It was just happening everywhere.
[47:20] Speaker 1: So for me, it was just like protocol. You were
[47:22] Speaker 1: just like, you know, you're 12 years old. It's no
[47:24] Speaker 1: big deal. You're smoking weed. 13 years old. You're taking alcohol.
[47:27] Speaker 1: You're stealing pills. Out of purses. You know what I mean?
[47:30] Speaker 1: That's why I say Euphoria is real. Yeah. I didn't know.
[47:33] Speaker 1: I didn't know.
[47:33] Speaker 2: I grew up in White Lake, West Lake.
[47:35] Speaker 1: Listen.
[47:36] Speaker 2: I grew up outside of Cleveland.
[47:37] Speaker 1: I couldn't watch it because, I don't know, one, I
[47:39] Speaker 1: was afraid it would trigger me, and two, I was
[47:40] Speaker 1: just like, I don't even want to, I can't even
[47:43] Speaker 1: think about my daughter going to a high school that
[47:45] Speaker 1: this could be happening. Which she doesn't, but maybe she does.
[47:48] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[47:48] Speaker 3: But how do you, but it's like. I know they're
[47:51] Speaker 3: drinking beer and having bonfires. I mean, we got started
[47:55] Speaker 3: with oxys early. I mean, and it still happens. There's
[47:59] Speaker 3: kids out there 13, 14 years old doing all kinds
[48:01] Speaker 3: of shit.
[48:02] Speaker 1: Was that a product of your household though? No, no,
[48:05] Speaker 1: it wasn't. So when did you start doing drugs? When
[48:07] Speaker 1: I was 16, I started using oxys.
[48:11] Speaker 3: I was introduced to them through pain because I had
[48:14] Speaker 3: a lot of trauma, broken bones, splenectomies, a ton of
[48:17] Speaker 3: ICU unit visits.
[48:19] Speaker 1: I have a song called She. I hate to cut
[48:21] Speaker 1: you off, but in the song I wrote, it's talking
[48:23] Speaker 1: about a young lady struggling with addiction. And it goes,
[48:26] Speaker 1: nobody ever saw it coming because it started with a
[48:28] Speaker 1: little pill. How crazy.
[48:30] Speaker 3: Because remember, there was a time when our parents did
[48:33] Speaker 3: pills and pills were like, they weren't Oxycontin.
[48:37] Speaker 1: Like that was the other thing that happened to me.
[48:40] Speaker 1: Not to discount that. Exactly.
[48:43] Speaker 3: But I was, I was, mine was also a product
[48:45] Speaker 3: of location. The East coast got eaten, bro. Eaten by Oxycontin, dude. Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania.
[48:52] Speaker 1: Oh yeah. West Virginia. All the way down into Kentucky. Ohio. Okay.
[48:58] Speaker 3: Bad decimated decimated by oxy by one company and one
[49:02] Speaker 3: pill with one brand name.
[49:04] Speaker 1: On did you have you watched all the tv dope.
[49:05] Speaker 3: Sick painkiller all of it dope sick was fucking incredible
[49:09] Speaker 3: so the guy who led the round uh the round
[49:12] Speaker 3: table yesterday was the guy that michael keaton's character was based.
[49:14] Speaker 1: On really And dope sick. Dope. God, I should have went.
[49:17] Speaker 1: I couldn't have. It was not.
[49:19] Speaker 3: You got to come on the next one. I mean,
[49:20] Speaker 3: Bobby Kennedy's got a good plan. But anyways, also on
[49:24] Speaker 3: the roundtable yesterday was the coroner from one of the
[49:27] Speaker 3: hardest hit areas in Pennsylvania.
[49:29] Speaker 1: Because as you know, as someone who speaks out on Congress. Wow.
[49:33] Speaker 1: What the fuck? Thank you, Bubba. To try to fend
[49:36] Speaker 1: off fentanyl.
[49:39] Speaker 2: The.
[49:40] Speaker 3: Death rate, the overdose death rate is insane. Talk about
[49:45] Speaker 3: a topic that is not being discussed. Every day we
[49:48] Speaker 3: hear about Ukraine, we hear about Gaza, major topics, obviously
[49:51] Speaker 3: super important. A bunch of other topics that happen in
[49:54] Speaker 3: the States. If the trend continues within the next, I
[49:58] Speaker 3: think Bobby said it's like within the next year, the
[50:01] Speaker 3: number of dead Americans from overdose since this epidemic began
[50:07] Speaker 3: is will surpass every American that has ever died in
[50:11] Speaker 3: any war America has ever been fucking involved in.
[50:15] Speaker 2: Ever.
[50:16] Speaker 1: World War II, Vietnam, World War, ever, bro. How often
[50:20] Speaker 1: is this topic being talked about? Dude, you heard my
[50:23] Speaker 1: analogy when I went in front of Congress. Did you
[50:24] Speaker 1: hear it, Logan? I didn't. It's a 737 plane a day.
[50:28] Speaker 1: Every day. Oh, I did hear that. Every single day.
[50:30] Speaker 2: I didn't see it.
[50:31] Speaker 1: Every single day. So 300 people, right? Quotes of it.
[50:34] Speaker 1: Anywhere between 227 and 300 people a day. So it's like,
[50:37] Speaker 1: and I looked and I had that moment. So my
[50:39] Speaker 1: sister was helping me do the research for that speech.
[50:42] Speaker 1: And we were looking for like a comparison that would
[50:44] Speaker 1: be the most jolting. You know what I mean? Of like,
[50:47] Speaker 1: we were like, We were like comparing club sizes. You
[50:50] Speaker 1: know how you're thinking about stuff. You're like, how am
[50:51] Speaker 1: I going to present this in the most impactful way?
[50:54] Speaker 1: And when we realized it, when I realized it was
[50:56] Speaker 1: a plane, I was like, you're telling me that's like
[50:59] Speaker 1: if a plane crashed in America every single day. How
[51:04] Speaker 1: many days would it happen before they grounded every flight
[51:07] Speaker 1: in America? What's your prediction? Just ask. Out of curiosity.
[51:10] Speaker 1: I think it's two. Max. I think it's two max.
[51:13] Speaker 1: I think maybe three because they have to go. Are
[51:16] Speaker 1: we sure that a plane's crashing every day? It's like
[51:20] Speaker 1: it happened the last three days in a row. And
[51:21] Speaker 1: I think they'd be like, ground them and figure out
[51:23] Speaker 1: what the fuck's going on. At least that brand of plane.
[51:25] Speaker 1: If it was a Delta, Delta's shutting down that day.
[51:28] Speaker 1: And it's like, in our world, the way that we
[51:30] Speaker 1: have dehumanized drug addicts and addiction is that America will
[51:36] Speaker 1: literally step over their dead carcass and go, they made
[51:39] Speaker 1: that decision. And I'm like, go watch Dope Sick. Talk
[51:43] Speaker 1: to Mike, a kid that was a straight shooting kid
[51:46] Speaker 1: that was broke four bones in his body at a
[51:49] Speaker 1: tender age, and they gave him a peel. You know
[51:51] Speaker 1: what I mean? It's crazy. It's sickening.
[51:54] Speaker 2: I'm ignorant to this, and I'd like to ask a
[51:56] Speaker 2: question that perhaps you guys could shed some light on.
[52:00] Speaker 2: Why is that being ignored? You testified in front of Congress,
[52:04] Speaker 2: and so obviously at least the start of the conversation
[52:07] Speaker 2: is being had, but why are we focused on such
[52:12] Speaker 2: other petty shit rather than focusing on the traumatic stuff
[52:18] Speaker 2: that's happening right here on our own soil.
[52:21] Speaker 1: Well, if we all came together to fix a problem,
[52:23] Speaker 1: we wouldn't be fighting against each other, would we? No, no,
[52:27] Speaker 1: you're so right. It's not in any of our government's
[52:30] Speaker 1: best interest for us to all agree that we need
[52:32] Speaker 1: to fix something. You know what I mean? Because the
[52:34] Speaker 1: day that happens, they've got a big problem. It don't
[52:37] Speaker 1: matter what the cause is. The day that America actually
[52:40] Speaker 1: agrees this problem needs to be fixed and everybody agrees,
[52:44] Speaker 1: our government is going to be in fear. That problem
[52:47] Speaker 1: could be saving geese. You get the entire country agreed
[52:50] Speaker 1: to fix that one problem, it's going to scare everyone.
[52:52] Speaker 1: They don't want it. They don't want it. That's why
[52:53] Speaker 1: we have a two-party system. I say it all the time.
[52:56] Speaker 3: It is the biggest problem that we have as a
[52:58] Speaker 3: country is a two-party system.
[52:59] Speaker 1: Do you know why they don't allow you to have
[53:02] Speaker 1: competitive two-person or two-team sports in jail except basketball? Because
[53:08] Speaker 1: they kill each other. Period. Because they know that if
[53:14] Speaker 1: we put you in any sport, that involves y'all going
[53:17] Speaker 1: against each other. Y'all are gonna fight to the point
[53:19] Speaker 1: that somebody's gonna stab the other one in prison. But
[53:23] Speaker 1: we do it as a country. This is it as
[53:25] Speaker 1: a country.
[53:26] Speaker 3: It's got to be one of the most mind-boggling things
[53:29] Speaker 3: to me, especially as you watch the inability of them
[53:33] Speaker 3: to ever even find any kind of unison. And by
[53:36] Speaker 3: the way, not only that, it's not a disagreement. It's
[53:40] Speaker 3: a desire to always make the other party look bad.
[53:44] Speaker 3: I liken it to a basketball game where both teams
[53:46] Speaker 3: are playing against each other, neither of which are trying
[53:49] Speaker 3: to score. Both are just trying to block each other's shots.
[53:51] Speaker 3: And the American public is in the audience just yelling.
[53:56] Speaker 1: I'm just over here like, yo, let's just, you know, yeah.
[54:00] Speaker 1: And I think that's a part of the problem. And
[54:01] Speaker 1: also I think that we need to bring more light.
[54:04] Speaker 1: I appreciate you being honest to go, hey, man, I'm
[54:06] Speaker 1: ignorant to this issue. It seems like this is a problem.
[54:09] Speaker 1: Why don't we just fix it? That means a lot.
[54:10] Speaker 1: Just more people like you being like, okay, I'm in
[54:13] Speaker 1: tune now. Well, Mike mentioned it earlier.
[54:16] Speaker 2: Like, okay, I'll be honest. So first off, I really
[54:20] Speaker 2: appreciate your vulnerability. And so does the viewer. The words
[54:24] Speaker 2: that you've said today, just as far are going to
[54:26] Speaker 2: like really affect people's life and like as someone who
[54:31] Speaker 2: uh fuck it's emotional day for me a little bit
[54:36] Speaker 2: um as someone who uh just tries to be impactful
[54:39] Speaker 2: you know like your story and your voice allows us
[54:43] Speaker 2: to do that i think in a way we're like
[54:45] Speaker 2: you know our content this this content specifically it means
[54:47] Speaker 2: something it really means something um and mike mentioned earlier
[54:52] Speaker 2: like that demon you talk about that that that you
[54:55] Speaker 2: fight um that i know he fights as well because
[54:57] Speaker 2: he's my best friend is not truly a struggle that
[55:01] Speaker 2: i understand and i um have like failed to recognize
[55:07] Speaker 2: like how how hard that can be for some people
[55:10] Speaker 2: just because of like how you're wired you know that
[55:13] Speaker 2: that's it just you know you got you got some
[55:16] Speaker 2: neurons in your brain that are either overfiring or not
[55:19] Speaker 2: firing the right way. Some synapses are connected and mismatch crisscross. Like,
[55:24] Speaker 2: and I was not wired like that. And it's, I'm
[55:26] Speaker 2: so grateful for it, but I've had trouble in the
[55:29] Speaker 2: past empathizing with people who are going through things that
[55:32] Speaker 2: I can't relate to. I think that sentence that I
[55:36] Speaker 2: just said is the feeling of a lot of Americans
[55:39] Speaker 2: and of a lot of people who are in control
[55:43] Speaker 2: that allows, or allows, where they're sort of enabling themselves
[55:47] Speaker 2: to kind of turn the other direction. You know, they
[55:50] Speaker 2: don't understand it. They don't understand it. And so a,
[55:54] Speaker 2: a educating people at having these conversations is, is super important. Um,
[55:59] Speaker 2: but I think like, I think our, our, our country
[56:02] Speaker 2: in general struggle struggles with like an empathy problem. That's
[56:05] Speaker 2: like an, that's a, that's a, It's like an evolved
[56:08] Speaker 2: emotion for a lot of people.
[56:10] Speaker 1: It's true.
[56:11] Speaker 2: And something, I'm not trying to hyperanalyze you, but your
[56:14] Speaker 2: story is obviously so, can really positively influence a lot
[56:19] Speaker 2: of people. So I'm trying to hear you and take
[56:24] Speaker 2: things that people can enact in their lives to make
[56:28] Speaker 2: a positive change. And you have a self-awareness. And self-awareness
[56:33] Speaker 2: is a very attractive quality because bare minimum, you're aware
[56:36] Speaker 2: of it. And to try to make sure that that
[56:42] Speaker 2: car isn't going to crash, to be able to identify
[56:45] Speaker 2: certain things about yourself and then put parameters in place
[56:49] Speaker 2: that you know you need to put in place so
[56:51] Speaker 2: you don't do X, Y, Z or regress to that
[56:55] Speaker 2: person you don't want to be, like waking up in
[56:58] Speaker 2: the morning and putting your phone away, that's an evolved person.
[57:02] Speaker 2: That's something that is so important for people to do
[57:05] Speaker 2: in their lives. But I think a lot of people...
[57:08] Speaker 2: aren't willing to put in that work. Because it's hard.
[57:11] Speaker 1: It is hard. So hard. For sure.
[57:13] Speaker 3: It's weird. It's always been weird to me, too, with
[57:16] Speaker 3: the empathy thing.
[57:17] Speaker 1: It's a daily work, too, by the way, though. Yeah.
[57:19] Speaker 1: It's not just like the hard work is going through it.
[57:21] Speaker 1: But still, I mean, it's a daily work. Mm-hmm.
[57:24] Speaker 3: What he was saying about empathy. And I agree with
[57:26] Speaker 3: you a hundred percent. I've always said is that empathy
[57:28] Speaker 3: is a learned emotion. So it's, it's not easy for
[57:31] Speaker 3: people to just magically have it. I got empathy because
[57:33] Speaker 3: I know what it's like to wait in line for
[57:35] Speaker 3: methadone when it's 26 degrees and I have a jacket
[57:37] Speaker 3: and the person next to.
[57:38] Speaker 1: Me doesn't, you know what I'm saying?
[57:39] Speaker 3: I got empathy from being, have being able to have
[57:42] Speaker 3: a state's attorney when I went to court and, and
[57:45] Speaker 3: having somebody do something nice for me because they had
[57:47] Speaker 3: a good attorney.
[57:48] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
[57:49] Speaker 3: Those little trade-offs and passionate moments you have from living
[57:52] Speaker 3: in that gutter for so long, it breeds it inside
[57:55] Speaker 3: of you. The only reason I don't get it is
[57:58] Speaker 3: because some people don't understand the plight of addiction in
[58:01] Speaker 3: the country and would turn the other cheek is their
[58:05] Speaker 3: mom's addicted. Their son's addicted. The kid next door is addicted. Bro,
[58:10] Speaker 3: substance abuse has touched fucking everybody.
[58:13] Speaker 1: In this country. So it's just surprising me that people
[58:15] Speaker 1: are still. Well, I think that's the thing. But it's
[58:18] Speaker 1: also a testament to his honesty is that that's another thing, too,
[58:24] Speaker 1: is that America has lost sight of taking the time
[58:27] Speaker 1: to hear and care about what's happening with people. You
[58:30] Speaker 1: know what I mean? And we just kind of automatically.
[58:32] Speaker 1: And I also get it, too, because, dude, we're all
[58:34] Speaker 1: fighting life. I get it. I know what it's like
[58:37] Speaker 1: to walk and be like, look, I'd like to stop
[58:38] Speaker 1: and try to have an opinion about that, but life's
[58:41] Speaker 1: fucking me as much as it's fucking him. You know
[58:43] Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
[58:45] Speaker 2: It's so true.
[58:46] Speaker 1: It's so true. And there's that. And I think that
[58:49] Speaker 1: we've also, because there was a time in life, you
[58:52] Speaker 1: only got news clippings and spurts. So you only seen
[58:55] Speaker 1: the bad side of America at like seven o'clock at
[58:59] Speaker 1: night on the news or in that morning when you
[59:02] Speaker 1: read your paper. Now it's like a nonstop funnel of
[59:05] Speaker 1: all the fuckery that's happening all over the world all
[59:08] Speaker 1: the time on every subject. feed we have.
[59:11] Speaker 2: Well, you know what it is? I mean, it's just shitty,
[59:16] Speaker 2: but it's innate in humans to be drawn towards negative stuff.
[59:21] Speaker 2: I think it's a defense mechanism. Our species sees things
[59:24] Speaker 2: that are happening that are bad and instinctively we go,
[59:28] Speaker 2: I need to stay away from that. I know about it.
[59:31] Speaker 2: Now I need to stay away from it. Oh, this, oh,
[59:33] Speaker 2: this mugging happened in the street. And I see this
[59:35] Speaker 2: video in 4k of a security camera and it's horrible
[59:37] Speaker 2: and it affects me and I'm scared. Maybe I won't
[59:40] Speaker 2: go out past 11 PM. It's sort of instinctual. Like
[59:44] Speaker 2: in many ways, you know, I always sit on this
[59:46] Speaker 2: podcast and I'm like, well, everyone just draw is drawn
[59:49] Speaker 2: to the negative headlines, negative headlines, or you read headlines. Like,
[59:53] Speaker 2: but at the, in the same token, it's like, Hey,
[59:54] Speaker 2: how we're wired.
[59:55] Speaker 1: We're just like, We're animals.
[59:57] Speaker 2: We're actually animals.
[59:58] Speaker 1: I love it when Joe Rogan says we're all a
[59:59] Speaker 1: bunch of dumb apes. He's right. He's right down the middle, dude.
[1:00:03] Speaker 1: It couldn't be more it. It's all about love, though.
[1:00:07] Speaker 1: My message mostly is that I think that whether you
[1:00:10] Speaker 1: have any connection with any of that stuff, what you
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: do have is you love people. And then that'll end
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: up bringing you around to compassion and being more empathetic
[1:00:18] Speaker 1: of those situations. I hate everyone. Just you asking and
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: having it now starting to be that way. I hate everybody.
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: I don't hate everybody.
[1:00:24] Speaker 1: But, dude... People are hateable. I get it.
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: I'm hateable. I mean, like, I get it.
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: You know, I.
[1:00:31] Speaker 3: Don't hate a single, there's not a single person that
[1:00:34] Speaker 3: you hate.
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: No, no. I truly have. I tell people all the time,
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: anybody who don't like me anymore, it's one sided. You
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? When I finally made it out
[1:00:44] Speaker 1: of that shit and got free from it and broke
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: those chains, I was just like, Hey, I'm sorry to
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: everybody I did wrong too. I hope you accept it.
[1:00:51] Speaker 1: And if you don't, then I get it. But I am. Yeah,
[1:00:54] Speaker 1: it's like. When's the last time you left a negative
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: comment online? Oh, dude, I've never. I missed that.
[1:00:59] Speaker 2: Not even on MGK's post back in the day.
[1:01:02] Speaker 1: No, no, no. I just wrote a song about it.
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: I don't think I'd ever comment. I'd probably send mean
[1:01:06] Speaker 1: DMs instead.
[1:01:08] Speaker 3: Hey, it's important that people like you. are leading the charge,
[1:01:16] Speaker 3: and I'll throw myself into it as well, for this topic.
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: Prior to us, and I asked you about it before
[1:01:24] Speaker 3: the show, I'm an imperfect addict.
[1:01:27] Speaker 1: I think any good addict would.
[1:01:29] Speaker 3: Say they are too, but I mean it even less perfect.
[1:01:32] Speaker 3: I do some stuff that people in the AA community
[1:01:35] Speaker 3: might not love. We talked about weed before. I love
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: to gamble.
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I love gambling.
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: I do some stuff that is... That in the old
[1:01:45] Speaker 3: school would be frowned upon. But I feel like us
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: being authentically us and being truthful about it and transparent
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: about it is allowing us to talk to a much
[1:01:58] Speaker 3: larger set of people through being the opposite of a guru.
[1:02:04] Speaker 3: I don't claim to be a guru on anything in
[1:02:06] Speaker 3: this world besides cheeseburgers. Um, but, but you, you are,
[1:02:11] Speaker 3: you are not a scientist or a mental health professional.
[1:02:15] Speaker 1: You are a singer.
[1:02:16] Speaker 3: You're a multifaceted, multi-talented performer who just so happens to
[1:02:21] Speaker 3: want to help in a place that he used to
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: exist in and continues to struggle in. And I think
[1:02:26] Speaker 3: that we are the evolution of, um, uh, of the
[1:02:33] Speaker 3: program that is going to help people for sure.
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: First of all, thank you for being so nice to me.
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: I am a dumb songwriter that sings, right? That is it.
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: It's nothing more. I have low-level education. I'm a dumb songwriter,
[1:02:47] Speaker 1: and I sing. And I have so much respect for
[1:02:50] Speaker 1: the sober community and the clean community that I don't
[1:02:53] Speaker 1: even claim that community at all as far as for me. Now,
[1:02:58] Speaker 1: I participate. I attend. I'm a friend. You know what
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: I mean? I'm a friend of Bill's, but I completely
[1:03:07] Speaker 1: when asked, I never claimed to be in the space
[1:03:09] Speaker 1: because I have so much respect for their model. I
[1:03:12] Speaker 1: just also know that my mindset, what worked for me
[1:03:16] Speaker 1: is been more of a harm reduction and less of
[1:03:19] Speaker 1: an abstinent model. but because I'll still smoke a little pot,
[1:03:23] Speaker 1: a lot of pot, but frankly, if we're gonna be honest,
[1:03:26] Speaker 1: it's a lot of reefer. But I have came really
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: far from it and through it. And my thing is,
[1:03:37] Speaker 1: my thing with everything, and this is what I'd like
[1:03:39] Speaker 1: for the rest of the world to just maybe even
[1:03:41] Speaker 1: open their hearts to is that I believe there's space
[1:03:44] Speaker 1: for multiple things to be true at once. I'm not
[1:03:47] Speaker 1: married to just one school of thought about every single thing.
[1:03:51] Speaker 3: You're going to offend somebody if you're talking about nuance.
[1:03:54] Speaker 3: Are you talking about nuance?
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: You're going to offend. You're going to get into a
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: gray area that people don't think should exist. I know,
[1:03:59] Speaker 1: God forbid. But it's like, I know that, God forbid,
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: we all meet in the middle. No, don't say it.
[1:04:05] Speaker 1: There's no middle. Don't say it. Get off the fence.
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: It's your way or my way. Pick a side, buddy.
[1:04:08] Speaker 1: Are you a fence rider? Pick a side. It's like, yeah. Yo,
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: I'm creating a side. It's the way I like to
[1:04:14] Speaker 1: look at it. I'm creating a side. And I just, what,
[1:04:17] Speaker 1: it's even like right now, somebody asked me, I was
[1:04:19] Speaker 1: in the gym this morning at the Lifetime Fitness somewhere
[1:04:23] Speaker 1: down here in downtown. And I was just making sure anchored.
[1:04:26] Speaker 1: I knew I had a big pod with y'all. First
[1:04:27] Speaker 1: of all, I love the pod. Huge fan. Genuinely watch
[1:04:29] Speaker 1: clips all the time. Thank you. watching your evolution and
[1:04:32] Speaker 1: your growth going from like, you know, just like a
[1:04:34] Speaker 1: like shithead YouTube kid into a man, into a father
[1:04:37] Speaker 1: has been, the way you've just gracefully dealt with things.
[1:04:40] Speaker 1: And when you're being a shithead, I know that it's
[1:04:42] Speaker 1: all in the spirit of, you know, it's a work
[1:04:46] Speaker 1: for you. It's not a shoot. but it's uh yeah
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: for me i'm sorry what was i saying before that
[1:04:57] Speaker 1: i want to make sure how much you love our
[1:04:58] Speaker 1: podcast yeah i do love your podcast where i got
[1:05:00] Speaker 1: lost and i was like i want to make sure
[1:05:01] Speaker 1: i'm getting flowers my but my sobriety journey is that
[1:05:04] Speaker 1: my thing is that i think that same way about
[1:05:06] Speaker 1: everything it's like i just he was in the he
[1:05:09] Speaker 1: was in the gym and he's kind of preaching at
[1:05:10] Speaker 1: me and he's uh He said, I've heard you lost
[1:05:12] Speaker 1: a lot of weight this year. I'm like, yeah, he's like,
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I cut out seed oil, sugars, get
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: rid of carbs. I, you know, he starts like, and
[1:05:19] Speaker 1: he's like, this is what you like telling me what
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: I need to do. And finally, at some point I
[1:05:24] Speaker 1: look up at him and go, man, that sounds like
[1:05:25] Speaker 1: that's really been working good for you, man. I'm happy
[1:05:27] Speaker 1: for you, for you, for you. Cause that's what's working
[1:05:30] Speaker 1: for you. Uh, I'm eating a potato for breakfast every day.
[1:05:35] Speaker 1: And I'm losing the fuck out of it. You know
[1:05:37] Speaker 1: what I mean? I don't really need, I didn't say that,
[1:05:38] Speaker 1: but I'm thinking, I don't need you ingesting. Like, I
[1:05:40] Speaker 1: don't even need that in my, you know what I mean?
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: Like what's working for me right now is this, and
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: this is cool. And when it quits working for me,
[1:05:46] Speaker 1: I'll reassess. I love, I love.
[1:05:48] Speaker 3: And just so you know, the thing that I'll take
[1:05:51] Speaker 3: out of this and it will, it will continue to
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: build on how much I've already been working on it.
[1:05:55] Speaker 3: I love your confidence in saying that.
[1:05:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
[1:06:00] Speaker 3: Because, because I've, been on this scene now for six
[1:06:04] Speaker 3: years or seven or whatever and have had people say
[1:06:08] Speaker 3: not so nice things about the way i run my
[1:06:10] Speaker 3: program and they're people that i respect and people that
[1:06:13] Speaker 3: are well known and and you're talking about me not
[1:06:15] Speaker 3: at all no you've never all you say is that
[1:06:18] Speaker 3: i don't look good i know i'm just kidding i'm
[1:06:22] Speaker 3: just kidding but but but um Certainly I've felt sometimes
[1:06:29] Speaker 3: not as good as I could about the progress I've
[1:06:31] Speaker 3: made because other people have said that it's not as
[1:06:33] Speaker 3: much as it could be or should be.
[1:06:35] Speaker 1: And I should cut out, quote unquote, cut out the
[1:06:37] Speaker 1: seed oils. Is it not crazy how much people have
[1:06:40] Speaker 1: an opinion on what you should do, but they don't
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: do anything?
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: Hey, I can relate to this. What's happening right now
[1:06:47] Speaker 2: with me being a parent, everyone has something to say.
[1:06:50] Speaker 1: They're telling you how you should father someone. And most
[1:06:52] Speaker 1: of them are bad parents.
[1:06:55] Speaker 2: Why is everyone wrong? Why is, why are 5% of
[1:06:58] Speaker 2: people on the right path? And by the way, maybe
[1:07:01] Speaker 2: I'm wrong, but the point is at least in parenting,
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: working out, whatever, that's like, none of this shit is
[1:07:06] Speaker 2: a perfect science. Everyone's different. Like your intuition, your gut,
[1:07:10] Speaker 2: your feeling, at least with parenting for me is like,
[1:07:12] Speaker 2: what's been guiding us. And, Six days in, it's working.
[1:07:16] Speaker 1: It's like six days in, we're killing it. Do you
[1:07:20] Speaker 1: have a night nurse? Did you get a night nurse?
[1:07:22] Speaker 1: Or are you just accepting the trauma that's coming with that?
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: I tried.
[1:07:25] Speaker 2: I fired her within an hour.
[1:07:27] Speaker 1: No, really? The first time the baby cried, you just
[1:07:30] Speaker 1: shot right in there.
[1:07:31] Speaker 2: No it's uh it's i i mean yeah yeah i
[1:07:34] Speaker 2: realize like i i don't want this anyone handling my
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: child and like because like well let's be honest i'm
[1:07:40] Speaker 2: in a privileged position where i can afford a night
[1:07:42] Speaker 2: nurse and and that is a luxury but at the
[1:07:45] Speaker 2: same token i i care too much to be like
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: hands off even at night especially with my first child
[1:07:55] Speaker 2: like I like being in the trenches at the moment,
[1:07:59] Speaker 2: even though I'm tired. And I'm learning so much about parenthood. Like, bro,
[1:08:04] Speaker 2: I'm on diaper duty.
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: That's my job. How's the wife doing?
[1:08:07] Speaker 2: She's a fucking hero. She's literally my hero.
[1:08:10] Speaker 1: Oh, great.
[1:08:10] Speaker 2: She's a champion, dude.
[1:08:12] Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
[1:08:12] Speaker 2: I was just saying on the last episode, like, what
[1:08:14] Speaker 2: women go through.
[1:08:15] Speaker 1: Have y'all got a workflow at night yet? Or y'all
[1:08:17] Speaker 1: just swapping on and off?
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: So we're kind of double teaming it right now, which
[1:08:21] Speaker 2: isn't great for our sleep.
[1:08:22] Speaker 1: Yeah. We will. We will do the.
[1:08:26] Speaker 2: vice versa.
[1:08:27] Speaker 1: It's just still so special. Y'all are both rushing. That's awesome.
[1:08:30] Speaker 1: You'll get past that. Cause this is going to last
[1:08:31] Speaker 1: a little longer than you think. It's a little bit
[1:08:33] Speaker 1: of a jerk. He called me on day three and
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: he's like, I think we've got it figured out.
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: Dude, that, that night, that night, yo, SMA was up
[1:08:45] Speaker 2: from legit like one to 5.00 AM. And on our
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: like three, I was like, Ooh, isn't gonna affect who
[1:08:52] Speaker 2: I am. I need to sleep.
[1:08:57] Speaker 1: I was hungry.
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: I was angry.
[1:08:59] Speaker 1: I wasn't lonely.
[1:09:01] Speaker 2: I don't know if I've ever checked. So tired, but,
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: but yeah, man, it's, it's everyone likes to think they're
[1:09:09] Speaker 2: an armchair expert.
[1:09:10] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:09:11] Speaker 3: Well, on that topic quickly, the only reason I bring
[1:09:14] Speaker 3: that up is because the old school believes that there
[1:09:18] Speaker 3: is a perfect science to recovery, which is one.
[1:09:21] Speaker 1: And by the way, my thing is, are you proud
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: of the progress that you've made? Oh, come on. Then
[1:09:25] Speaker 1: find confidence. That's what me. You're right. I was like, dog,
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: I was, fucking the shittiest human on earth right if
[1:09:33] Speaker 1: i am just smoking weed right now and that offends
[1:09:36] Speaker 1: you then fuck you anyways well you know what i'm
[1:09:38] Speaker 1: saying like respectfully on site taught me that fuck you
[1:09:41] Speaker 1: man i changed my whole life dude if you knew
[1:09:44] Speaker 1: i would have choked you unconscious fucking and stole your
[1:09:47] Speaker 1: wallet fucking at one point in my life and stomped
[1:09:50] Speaker 1: you on the way out the door And now I'm
[1:09:52] Speaker 1: just smoking poppy and like, hey, everybody. Like, fuck you.
[1:09:56] Speaker 1: I'm killing it. You know what I'm saying? It's God.
[1:09:59] Speaker 1: He has the same story.
[1:10:01] Speaker 2: You say you're the shittiest. You were the shittiest person
[1:10:03] Speaker 2: on the planet. I bet Mike circa 2010 would have
[1:10:07] Speaker 2: given you a run for your money.
[1:10:08] Speaker 1: No, it was earlier than that. 2010, I was coming
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: back around. I mean, we both. But I want to
[1:10:13] Speaker 1: tell you something that might help you with this. And
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: I wasn't ever going to share this on a podcast
[1:10:17] Speaker 1: again because I didn't want to have to circle back
[1:10:19] Speaker 1: into this. But I love you enough to share this
[1:10:21] Speaker 1: and hoping to help you. I was with Flagrant the
[1:10:24] Speaker 1: first time I did Schultz and them podcast. Now Schultz
[1:10:26] Speaker 1: and me are really, really, really good, good, good friends.
[1:10:30] Speaker 1: And we were talking about my relationship with the church
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: because I have a cross on my face. I'm a
[1:10:34] Speaker 1: man of faith. I'm very public about it. Smoke weed.
[1:10:36] Speaker 1: I also do a lot of things that don't look godly, right?
[1:10:39] Speaker 1: And I just told him how I felt about the
[1:10:41] Speaker 1: church on that podcast. I won't reshare those feelings here.
[1:10:43] Speaker 1: They're online. You can go look them up. And I
[1:10:45] Speaker 1: just said, but I love God. And this is how
[1:10:46] Speaker 1: I feel about the church. And man did every pastor.
[1:10:50] Speaker 1: It felt like in America, the next Sunday raked me
[1:10:52] Speaker 1: across the coals, but I had three of the biggest
[1:10:57] Speaker 1: pastors in the world reach out to me and go,
[1:11:00] Speaker 1: that was the bravest act of Christianity we've ever seen.
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: Was you going to do that? And you know what
[1:11:06] Speaker 1: I realized in that moment, man, man, What God's got
[1:11:09] Speaker 1: for me, he's sending, baby. I don't know. If them
[1:11:12] Speaker 1: other dudes didn't come, they wasn't for me, and that's fine.
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: God put me where I'm celebrated and not tolerated. That
[1:11:17] Speaker 1: is my request. Put me where I belong. You know
[1:11:20] Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Man, if I don't give you no
[1:11:22] Speaker 1: more freedom, because it hurt my feelings, Mike. That first Sunday,
[1:11:25] Speaker 1: I was like, Man, I thought Jesus would be proud
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: of the way I carried that conversation. And these dudes
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: were just like, this jelly roll is the devil. They
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: were like Southern Baptists. Like, if you listen to jelly roll,
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: you're going to hell. You know, and I'm just like, golly.
[1:11:39] Speaker 1: I was like, Jesus Christ. He's going to listen. I
[1:11:42] Speaker 1: believe I can fly all the way out of here.
[1:11:44] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I'm the bad guy, you know?
[1:11:47] Speaker 1: But so just know that, man. Don't worry, man. That
[1:11:49] Speaker 1: shit is like, it ended up working out in my
[1:11:51] Speaker 1: favor because I ended up actually getting closer to God
[1:11:54] Speaker 1: after that. I picked up my Bible for the first
[1:11:57] Speaker 1: time in a decade after that conversation. I started allowing
[1:12:00] Speaker 1: a pastor to pour into me for the first time
[1:12:02] Speaker 1: after a decade. It was a breakthrough for me. So
[1:12:06] Speaker 1: on the other side of all that pain and all
[1:12:08] Speaker 1: that pissiness I felt and the fact that they're still
[1:12:10] Speaker 1: on average like 20 or 50 churches a Sunday that
[1:12:13] Speaker 1: talk about me in a bad way, that's just part
[1:12:16] Speaker 1: of it. Sounds like Waterboy, the movie Waterboy. Yeah.
[1:12:19] Speaker 3: Foosballs the devil, by the way. They got your picture
[1:12:23] Speaker 3: on the wall in the church like this is Satan
[1:12:25] Speaker 3: right here.
[1:12:26] Speaker 1: The other guys were like most big pastors and a
[1:12:28] Speaker 1: lot of– authors hit me up and was like, man,
[1:12:34] Speaker 1: that was accurate. You didn't tell a lie. The church
[1:12:36] Speaker 1: just don't know how to deal with the truth.
[1:12:39] Speaker 2: I'm a little confused how sometimes with certain sects of religion, sects, S-E-C-T-S,
[1:12:50] Speaker 2: can't agree on their own teachings. Something that confused me,
[1:12:55] Speaker 2: we had Cliff and Stuart Connectly on the podcast, and
[1:12:58] Speaker 2: I asked them about.
[1:12:59] Speaker 1: Evolution, right?
[1:12:59] Speaker 2: And they were like, yeah, yes. Scientific evolution, yeah. And
[1:13:05] Speaker 2: when they said that, I was actually surprised because most
[1:13:08] Speaker 2: Christians I know seem to not believe in evolution. And
[1:13:12] Speaker 2: these guys who are really knowledgeable and devout, good dudes
[1:13:16] Speaker 2: who practice their craft and are the best at it,
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: said the opposite of what I thought traditional belief was.
[1:13:23] Speaker 2: These are two guys that are revered by Christians and Catholics.
[1:13:28] Speaker 2: I don't want to mess up which is which and
[1:13:31] Speaker 2: the denominations that.
[1:13:32] Speaker 1: Look up to them.
[1:13:33] Speaker 2: But they posted the clip on their Instagram as well
[1:13:36] Speaker 2: as saying it on the podcast. And when I saw it,
[1:13:40] Speaker 2: I was surprised because they were speaking directly to an
[1:13:45] Speaker 2: audience that a lot of them don't agree with their opinion.
[1:13:49] Speaker 2: And sure enough, in the comments, people were reaming them
[1:13:53] Speaker 2: for saying that evolution is a thing. And similar to this, like,
[1:13:59] Speaker 2: black and white conversation where like nuance is important. And that,
[1:14:03] Speaker 2: that gray area is you, you gotta be comfortable like
[1:14:06] Speaker 2: navigating there and, and acknowledging that it exists. Um, but
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: with religion in particular, there's just like a lot of that.
[1:14:13] Speaker 2: Like it's like, like almost like, I mean, maybe a
[1:14:15] Speaker 2: shitty comparison as well. Like parenting, like there's like an
[1:14:18] Speaker 2: imperfect science. And I think there's like an intuition that,
[1:14:20] Speaker 2: that I don't know if like follow the teachings that
[1:14:24] Speaker 2: make you feel the best, the most fulfilled and that
[1:14:26] Speaker 2: make you feel like you are having that conversation with God.
[1:14:29] Speaker 1: Yeah. And whatever works for you, whatever gets you in
[1:14:32] Speaker 1: touch with a higher plane, whatever gets you outside. Cause
[1:14:35] Speaker 1: there's a lot of it to me is just getting
[1:14:37] Speaker 1: outside of yourself. Just admitting that there is something greater
[1:14:41] Speaker 1: than you. If not, we're stuck in a real narcissistic
[1:14:44] Speaker 1: loop by default nihilist. You know what I mean? It
[1:14:46] Speaker 1: gets real, gets real murky waters there. And it's like,
[1:14:48] Speaker 1: but my deal is first of all, nobody hated religion
[1:14:53] Speaker 1: more than Jesus. Really? No, absolutely. Not a figure ever
[1:14:59] Speaker 1: in history has hated religion more than Jesus did. Why?
[1:15:02] Speaker 1: He thought it was just a complete kind of a sham.
[1:15:04] Speaker 1: He thought they had turned the temple into a merchant.
[1:15:08] Speaker 1: They thought it was more of a money gag than
[1:15:11] Speaker 1: it was. I'm not telling you nothing the Bible don't
[1:15:13] Speaker 1: say about Jesus, for the record. Go do your own research.
[1:15:15] Speaker 1: Come up with your own ideals. That's what I did.
[1:15:18] Speaker 1: I read the same book everybody else read. Maybe they
[1:15:20] Speaker 1: read it different. I don't know. But you know what
[1:15:22] Speaker 1: I'm saying?
[1:15:23] Speaker 2: That's possible.
[1:15:24] Speaker 1: That's possible. And you know what? That's fine too. You
[1:15:27] Speaker 1: know what I mean? Because I tell people all the time,
[1:15:29] Speaker 1: Cool Runners is one of my favorite movies. And they're like, why?
[1:15:32] Speaker 1: I was like, cause I think it's one of the
[1:15:33] Speaker 1: greatest stories ever told because sometimes you can do everything
[1:15:36] Speaker 1: right and the bobsled still breaks. Nobody else seen that though, right?
[1:15:40] Speaker 1: Everybody else thought it was a movie about a bunch
[1:15:42] Speaker 1: of guys that shouldn't have been on a mountain in
[1:15:43] Speaker 1: the first place. And to me, the real magic happened
[1:15:45] Speaker 1: after they were off the mountain. It wasn't getting to
[1:15:48] Speaker 1: the mountain that was the magic. They thought it was
[1:15:49] Speaker 1: a story of triumph and overcoming. I said, the story
[1:15:52] Speaker 1: was the bobsled broke. They fucking were killing it. You
[1:15:54] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? I gotta rewatch it. That's such
[1:15:58] Speaker 1: a classic, dude. Dude, it's one of the greatest movies ever.
[1:16:01] Speaker 1: It's in my top five for real. I haven't watched it.
[1:16:03] Speaker 1: Have you ever seen it?
[1:16:05] Speaker 2: No.
[1:16:07] Speaker 1: Give me.
[1:16:09] Speaker 2: The other four in the top five. If you have them.
[1:16:12] Speaker 2: Or at least three more.
[1:16:14] Speaker 1: A Beautiful Mind. Stop for one second on each one.
[1:16:18] Speaker 1: That movie's fucking amazing. Insane. Insane. I think Russell Crowe's
[1:16:22] Speaker 1: greatest performance ever. Yeah. That and when he did the
[1:16:26] Speaker 1: Cinderella Man, I thought was his too. Well, Beautiful Mind
[1:16:30] Speaker 1: is painful. It's a painful watch.
[1:16:32] Speaker 3: It is so emotional when you start to realize what
[1:16:37] Speaker 3: had been happening the entire time when you thought something
[1:16:39] Speaker 3: else was happening.
[1:16:41] Speaker 1: Insane. What else? Big Fish. Okay. Yeah, that's a great one.
[1:16:44] Speaker 1: Big Fish is one of the greatest movies ever. I
[1:16:47] Speaker 1: don't care who you are. It is so awesome. Big
[1:16:50] Speaker 1: Fish is great. Good Will Hunting. Yeah. It's another one
[1:16:53] Speaker 1: of my top. Perfect movie. Yep. Also, just watching it
[1:16:56] Speaker 1: now makes me upset because of Robin Williams. Yeah. Greatest
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: monologue in movie history. When he's sitting by the lake?
[1:17:01] Speaker 1: When they're sitting by the lake and he starts... Incredible.
[1:17:04] Speaker 1: Name another one better. Nothing. Name another movie monologue better.
[1:17:07] Speaker 1: It's un-fucking-real. Did it... A much, most of that monologue
[1:17:13] Speaker 1: was one take. Yeah. Steel Magnolias is my fifth one,
[1:17:15] Speaker 1: by the way. Great movie as well. Do you want mine? Yeah.
[1:17:18] Speaker 1: They're all boy movies. Oh, dude. That sucks.
[1:17:22] Speaker 3: Cause none of mine are, I guess I, I guess
[1:17:24] Speaker 3: I could put, I could put a little haunting in
[1:17:25] Speaker 3: there if we want one emotional, like meaningful movie, no
[1:17:29] Speaker 3: country for old men.
[1:17:31] Speaker 1: The fire. Incredible. So caught Sicario. Dude. Never even seen it.
[1:17:36] Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie. In, Brother. I'll make a note.
[1:17:39] Speaker 1: I was grabbing for my phone. Please watch. Please watch
[1:17:42] Speaker 1: that movie. Fight Club.
[1:17:47] Speaker 3: We have no great war. Our great war is a
[1:17:48] Speaker 3: spiritual war. And then I'll probably say, I'll fucking piss
[1:17:54] Speaker 3: Logan off and say probably Inception.
[1:17:56] Speaker 1: Inception or Departments.
[1:17:57] Speaker 2: I love Inception.
[1:17:58] Speaker 3: Well, no, but you love Interstellar more. And me not
[1:18:00] Speaker 3: having it on there probably upsets you.
[1:18:02] Speaker 1: No. It's your list. His number one is Interstellar. Yeah. Yeah,
[1:18:09] Speaker 1: it is. And Prestige. What's your other four?
[1:18:11] Speaker 2: I like the Prestige. I love The Greatest Showman.
[1:18:14] Speaker 1: Oh, The Greatest Showman. That's a good one. That'd be
[1:18:16] Speaker 1: my probably top ten. That's a good one. Yeah.
[1:18:19] Speaker 2: I can relate to the story.
[1:18:20] Speaker 1: I love musicals.
[1:18:22] Speaker 2: The Gentleman with Matthew McConaughey.
[1:18:24] Speaker 1: That's a great movie. It was awesome. That's a great movie.
[1:18:27] Speaker 2: I loved the show as well. I think it was
[1:18:28] Speaker 2: on Netflix. And then this is like maybe the top.
[1:18:34] Speaker 2: for me, but it just popped up on Netflix and
[1:18:36] Speaker 2: I loved it. Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise. I
[1:18:40] Speaker 2: like action.
[1:18:42] Speaker 1: Should I send you this list?
[1:18:44] Speaker 2: He's got a whole list.
[1:18:45] Speaker 1: It's called my movies grand list. I mean, dude, like...
[1:18:49] Speaker 1: I'm a guy that, I'm a weird dude that has
[1:18:51] Speaker 1: a top five in everything. I have a top five movies, shows, songs.
[1:18:54] Speaker 3: But how do you, how do you even fit up, like,
[1:18:57] Speaker 3: you know, Zero Dark Thirty, Children of Men, 1917, Running Scared,
[1:19:01] Speaker 3: Saving Private Ryan is one, Rock and Roll, a great
[1:19:04] Speaker 3: British film, The Godfather, Eastern Promises, Man on Fire, Smoking Aces, Casino,
[1:19:09] Speaker 3: Jason Bourne, Pulp Fiction.
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: I watched Casino on the bus the other night, just
[1:19:12] Speaker 1: on some like, we were up at four in the morning.
[1:19:15] Speaker 1: So fire, just as fire. Sometimes you go back and
[1:19:17] Speaker 1: watch them 90s movies and you're like, Is it going
[1:19:20] Speaker 1: to hold, you know, cause like technology and sometimes they
[1:19:23] Speaker 1: don't hold and then sometimes they casino does.
[1:19:25] Speaker 3: I still hate Joe Pesci for what he did, bro.
[1:19:27] Speaker 3: He ended up being so shit. Uh, what's, what's one
[1:19:32] Speaker 3: movie that you don't want to watch again? Because I
[1:19:34] Speaker 3: wonder if you can relate on, uh, a movie called
[1:19:38] Speaker 3: Requiem for a dream.
[1:19:39] Speaker 1: Never seen it.
[1:19:41] Speaker 2: Maybe try to watch.
[1:19:42] Speaker 1: I don't know. Actually. I'm not sure if I want
[1:19:43] Speaker 1: you to watch it. Really?
[1:19:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, Darren Aronofsky, absolute fucking classic. It's a very disturbing
[1:19:53] Speaker 3: film about drugs.
[1:19:56] Speaker 1: It is fucked, dude. Marlon Wayans, Jared Leto, Jennifer... Jennifer Lawrence.
[1:20:03] Speaker 1: Jennifer Lawrence. No, not Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer, uh, Jennifer Garner. No,
[1:20:09] Speaker 1: it's one of the Jennifer's. But it's, it's a, it's,
[1:20:13] Speaker 1: it's an insane movie about heroin and, and just, it's dark.
[1:20:17] Speaker 1: I'll watch it. Send it to me. I like more, more, uh,
[1:20:20] Speaker 1: emotional stuff. I'll watch some dark stuff.
[1:20:23] Speaker 3: Brother, it's, it, they call it, uh, The one movie
[1:20:26] Speaker 3: you swore you'd never watch again.
[1:20:27] Speaker 1: It took me over a decade of being out of
[1:20:31] Speaker 1: jail before I would watch jail shows. Nobody said Shawshank. Oh,
[1:20:36] Speaker 1: my God. But even then, I wouldn't watch it. When
[1:20:38] Speaker 1: I got out, I didn't watch it for like a decade.
[1:20:40] Speaker 1: I was like, my wife would be like, she would
[1:20:42] Speaker 1: get into like, she loves murder mystery stuff. And she'd
[1:20:46] Speaker 1: turn on First 48 and I'd flip out when we
[1:20:48] Speaker 1: first got together. I was like, yo. It's a great show.
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: I was like, no, no. And she was talking to
[1:20:52] Speaker 1: me the other day. She was like, what are you doing?
[1:20:54] Speaker 1: I was like watching first 48. And she like, really?
[1:20:56] Speaker 1: I was like, I've been watching to go to sleep lately.
[1:20:58] Speaker 2: Wow.
[1:20:58] Speaker 1: She, cause I've been, you know, whatever. And she was like,
[1:21:00] Speaker 1: and that's such a sign of your healing. She was like,
[1:21:03] Speaker 1: when I first got with you nine years ago, she
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: was like, you would like yell at me. If I
[1:21:08] Speaker 1: walked in the room, I was like, turn that shit
[1:21:09] Speaker 1: off immediately. It would get like weird. And now I'm like, yeah,
[1:21:13] Speaker 1: watch it every night. It's funny you say that.
[1:21:15] Speaker 3: Cause I read a news report the other day that, uh,
[1:21:19] Speaker 3: watching crime shows is one sign of potentially of a psychopath.
[1:21:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Fuck yeah.
[1:21:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was about to say, I know what you're
[1:21:28] Speaker 2: talking about. Of course I saw it. It was a lie.
[1:21:32] Speaker 1: Is your girl into true crime? What's that? Is your
[1:21:34] Speaker 1: girl into true crime? Yeah, we watch, of course. Do
[1:21:37] Speaker 1: we watch? I go to sleep watching Forensic Files.
[1:21:39] Speaker 2: Every girl's into true crime.
[1:21:40] Speaker 1: You're pretty sure. Do you know that show Forensic Files?
[1:21:42] Speaker 1: The top five podcasts is.
[1:21:43] Speaker 2: A true crime podcast.
[1:21:44] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, 100%. Yeah. Oh, Bunny. Bunny does it, and
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: when she does her podcast in October, she does like
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: a horror theme every week with it, like either a
[1:21:53] Speaker 1: murder mystery or something that caught her eye, and she'll
[1:21:56] Speaker 1: do a whole pod on it. She dresses up for
[1:21:58] Speaker 1: every day of the month of Halloween. Oh, she's a
[1:22:01] Speaker 1: Halloween lover? Yeah, she'll start posting her Halloween pictures today
[1:22:05] Speaker 1: for the next 31 days. Every day will be a
[1:22:08] Speaker 1: different Halloween. How long have you guys been together for now?
[1:22:10] Speaker 1: We've been together eight years. We've been married eight years,
[1:22:12] Speaker 1: eight and some change. And how did you meet? At
[1:22:15] Speaker 1: a bar. The old fashioned way, baby. Yeah. Where, where?
[1:22:19] Speaker 1: So like it happened in the movies. In? Las Vegas
[1:22:22] Speaker 1: Country Saloon. Amazing. Wow. I was doing a show. It
[1:22:25] Speaker 1: was a soft ticket show. So we were like doing
[1:22:27] Speaker 1: some of our songs and covers and just, you know,
[1:22:29] Speaker 1: we're just doing a bar circuit. She was there and
[1:22:32] Speaker 1: we bumped into each other at the bar. I was
[1:22:35] Speaker 1: going to grab a drink. She was going to grab
[1:22:37] Speaker 1: a drink. I knew she had Xanax. I asked her
[1:22:39] Speaker 1: for one. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So I
[1:22:42] Speaker 1: was like, that girl's got Xanax. And I was just
[1:22:43] Speaker 1: immediately like, ah. She just looked like an angel. Like
[1:22:47] Speaker 1: an old South Nashville mating call. Shake a bottle of
[1:22:51] Speaker 1: pills and I'll run.
[1:22:53] Speaker 3: What does she think of all the craziness?
[1:22:57] Speaker 1: Oh, dude, she's actually been my biggest supporter in all
[1:22:59] Speaker 1: of it, of course, man. We talk about it. We
[1:23:01] Speaker 1: foxhole up, though, man. It goes back to little things
[1:23:04] Speaker 1: in your life that change. When I was in the streets,
[1:23:06] Speaker 1: it was like no pillow talk. You never talk to
[1:23:09] Speaker 1: a girl about your business. Because what do you think
[1:23:11] Speaker 1: they're going to do when you break up? Yeah, for sure.
[1:23:13] Speaker 1: Now I don't do nothing but pillow talk. That's all.
[1:23:16] Speaker 1: I look forward to my pillow talk. I'm waiting for it.
[1:23:19] Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, it's the end of the day. I
[1:23:21] Speaker 1: can unload. I'm like a girl. I just pull my
[1:23:23] Speaker 1: hair back. I'm like, this is how it happened, and
[1:23:24] Speaker 1: Dave was a dickhead. She's really been my anchor. That's awesome.
[1:23:29] Speaker 3: Also, you know she's not going to get called in
[1:23:31] Speaker 3: as a witness to a felony indictment anytime soon.
[1:23:34] Speaker 1: She could tell her. We also quit committing felonies. Yeah,
[1:23:37] Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. We did commit some together early
[1:23:40] Speaker 1: in our relationship. We were both pretty wild when we
[1:23:42] Speaker 1: first got together. Yeah. She's sweet. She's sweet, man.
[1:23:45] Speaker 2: I have to ask you about WWE.
[1:23:47] Speaker 1: Please.
[1:23:49] Speaker 2: They say you love it.
[1:23:50] Speaker 1: Love. Yeah. Dude, I'm like truly a fan. And I
[1:23:53] Speaker 1: think the storytelling right now is like, Probably the best
[1:23:56] Speaker 1: it's been in a long time. I was going to
[1:23:58] Speaker 1: ask you about the product. I think it's the best
[1:24:00] Speaker 1: it's been since the Cena era. Yeah. And to see
[1:24:02] Speaker 1: Cena coming back around. You know what I mean? And
[1:24:04] Speaker 1: I think before that, it was the Attitude Era almost.
[1:24:09] Speaker 1: It's like I think that we're seeing, I would say,
[1:24:12] Speaker 1: wrestling's bigger than it's ever been right now. Totally. So
[1:24:14] Speaker 1: it's really fun. And they are finding a way at
[1:24:17] Speaker 1: the WWE to serve two masters. And they're serving that
[1:24:24] Speaker 1: they are keeping people engaged every single week and they're
[1:24:26] Speaker 1: keeping it fast because the times need fast stories. But
[1:24:30] Speaker 1: they're also allowing bigger stories to develop over longer periods
[1:24:34] Speaker 1: of time. Like watching the bloodline develop over 36 months.
[1:24:38] Speaker 1: Oh my God. for taking three WrestleManias for Cody to
[1:24:42] Speaker 1: finish his story. Like, but they kept us so engaged
[1:24:46] Speaker 1: that we almost had forgot that we had been watching
[1:24:48] Speaker 1: these big storylines play out. For sure. Because they were
[1:24:50] Speaker 1: giving us the little fast nuggets that we needed for
[1:24:53] Speaker 1: Instagram and TikTok too. So I think they're doing the
[1:24:55] Speaker 1: best they've ever done, man. I think the talent's higher
[1:24:57] Speaker 1: than it's ever been. I'm just, I'm admittedly, because I'm
[1:25:01] Speaker 1: an older guy, as a dude that like didn't tune
[1:25:03] Speaker 1: into it around the Cena time, it got really live again.
[1:25:06] Speaker 1: You're like, oh, it's happening.
[1:25:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:25:07] Speaker 1: And a couple years ago, I started feeling the writing
[1:25:09] Speaker 1: was changing. I was seeing it more. And I knew
[1:25:11] Speaker 1: that Roman was Roman. You know what I mean? You did.
[1:25:14] Speaker 1: You could feel it. Yeah. I mean, he just, it
[1:25:17] Speaker 1: felt early that he was going to be a version
[1:25:19] Speaker 1: of The Rock, that he was going to be some
[1:25:21] Speaker 1: generation's version of The Rock. You know what I mean? Like,
[1:25:24] Speaker 1: there's kids out there that look at him like I
[1:25:26] Speaker 1: looked at The Rock. Yep. Like when 1998, when he's
[1:25:30] Speaker 1: at 96, when he's at Municipal Auditorium and him and
[1:25:32] Speaker 1: Stone Cold are doing WWE Monday Night Raw and I'm
[1:25:37] Speaker 1: up in the nosebleed section with my brother. I knew
[1:25:39] Speaker 1: that kids were feeling that way about Roman.
[1:25:42] Speaker 2: You did that?
[1:25:43] Speaker 1: That's a true story.
[1:25:45] Speaker 2: Have you told Dwayne that?
[1:25:46] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, absolutely. Told DJ this. I mean, true, true story.
[1:25:49] Speaker 1: So it's like going from that. Cause you know, I
[1:25:51] Speaker 1: was a South Nashville kid. We'd go to the wrestling fairgrounds.
[1:25:54] Speaker 1: We'd go to the underground. We'd go to the backyard
[1:25:56] Speaker 1: ECW shits. Like we were like super white trash. Okay.
[1:25:59] Speaker 2: So can I, okay. So that's amazing. That's amazing. Um, what,
[1:26:05] Speaker 2: what about people who like, maybe aren't, aren't, aren't fans
[1:26:08] Speaker 2: of wrestling because they think, you know what they think?
[1:26:10] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:26:11] Speaker 2: Like how, how do you describe it to people who, who,
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: who don't understand like what they're watching? Cause I, I, Admittedly,
[1:26:18] Speaker 2: I was one of those people at some point.
[1:26:20] Speaker 1: You're watching one real incredible storytelling. And it's also wholesome.
[1:26:27] Speaker 1: I know there's times it gets a little wild, but
[1:26:28] Speaker 1: that's what makes it even more wholesome when it comes
[1:26:30] Speaker 1: back around because it's always going to come back around.
[1:26:34] Speaker 1: And I'm also into it because I'm an entertainer. I'm
[1:26:37] Speaker 1: a showman, right? I'll give you an example. When are
[1:26:42] Speaker 1: y'all dropping this? You got a little bit.
[1:26:45] Speaker 2: Two weeks, two weeks.
[1:26:46] Speaker 1: So I do, that's all I'm going to say. I
[1:26:48] Speaker 1: do something in my show, because I don't want to
[1:26:50] Speaker 1: burn this for the people that might watch, that might
[1:26:52] Speaker 1: be coming to my tour, even though most of your
[1:26:53] Speaker 1: people are like, who the fuck is this fat dude anyway?
[1:26:55] Speaker 1: No way, not right now, buddy. They're here to watch
[1:26:59] Speaker 1: Cousins U.
[1:27:00] Speaker 3: They're asking who we are.
[1:27:02] Speaker 1: But I took something from a Roman thing, I'll tell
[1:27:05] Speaker 1: you off camera, that I put in my show. Cool.
[1:27:07] Speaker 1: I'm that much of a fan of stuff that when
[1:27:09] Speaker 1: I watch things, I'm like, There's a quote in the
[1:27:12] Speaker 1: entertainment business. You're going to love this because I've watched
[1:27:14] Speaker 1: your pod for years. It says, the good ones will borrow,
[1:27:17] Speaker 1: but the great ones will steal.
[1:27:18] Speaker 2: Steal like an artist.
[1:27:19] Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what I mean? So it's like, I
[1:27:21] Speaker 1: stole something straight from Roman. Like, this is it. So yeah,
[1:27:23] Speaker 1: I started tuning back in and then I thought you
[1:27:26] Speaker 1: were great for it because you brought a whole new
[1:27:27] Speaker 1: eyes in and brought athleticism and- You mind me telling
[1:27:34] Speaker 1: a story? This is for a fucking podcast. Nah, we'll
[1:27:37] Speaker 1: actually allow it, man. Hold on, let's check. Well, it's
[1:27:40] Speaker 1: about him. Is that cool? No, no, no. It's about Logan.
[1:27:43] Speaker 1: I don't want Logan to like, I don't know if
[1:27:45] Speaker 1: this is something he don't want people to know. No,
[1:27:46] Speaker 1: I don't care. But when I'm in the ring that
[1:27:49] Speaker 1: day getting ready to sound check, I'm leaning over the
[1:27:51] Speaker 1: ring and I'm looking around and I keep watching Logan
[1:27:54] Speaker 1: switch chairs and he's doing this like he's fucking fixing
[1:27:58] Speaker 1: to paint something. And then he brings his dude over
[1:28:01] Speaker 1: with the camera. Right. And he's like, and they're looking
[1:28:04] Speaker 1: at it and they're looking and I don't really get it.
[1:28:06] Speaker 1: And then it still, I didn't fully get what they
[1:28:08] Speaker 1: were doing. So I just kind of keep going on
[1:28:10] Speaker 1: about my business. I was like, this dude's obsessed with
[1:28:12] Speaker 1: whatever's happening at this seat. And then in the middle
[1:28:16] Speaker 1: of the match, I'm on the other side of where
[1:28:17] Speaker 1: he was. And when he goes and climbs up on
[1:28:20] Speaker 1: those ropes, I go, this fucking dude, this is why
[1:28:26] Speaker 1: he's one of the best dudes. This is why he's
[1:28:28] Speaker 1: one of the best content creators. he was looking at
[1:28:31] Speaker 1: the shot. He knew he was that particular about exactly
[1:28:35] Speaker 1: where he wanted it to be. And I was like,
[1:28:37] Speaker 1: and I love whenever... people are great and you get
[1:28:41] Speaker 1: to find out why there's something special that happens when
[1:28:45] Speaker 1: somebody is cool. Like, I hope I leave here today.
[1:28:47] Speaker 1: And you, you go, I get it. You know what
[1:28:50] Speaker 1: I'm saying? I got it beforehand.
[1:28:51] Speaker 2: And to be honest, not that you.
[1:28:53] Speaker 1: Didn't, but I'm saying like, for me with you, like
[1:28:55] Speaker 1: that was a moment when I was like, That dude
[1:28:57] Speaker 1: is really thinking in the fucking future.
[1:29:00] Speaker 3: Can I blow your head up even more about that shot?
[1:29:03] Speaker 3: He was probably going to say it's maybe not. He
[1:29:06] Speaker 3: was not only thinking of the future, he was also
[1:29:09] Speaker 3: thinking of the past in that moment because it's even
[1:29:11] Speaker 3: deeper than what you're talking about. He wasn't only trying
[1:29:15] Speaker 3: to create the next shot, but he was trying to
[1:29:18] Speaker 3: create a continuation of a shot that happened when?
[1:29:22] Speaker 1: How long before that? I'm not even sure what you're
[1:29:24] Speaker 1: talking about, Mike.
[1:29:25] Speaker 3: Are you talking about the moonsault off the rope? You
[1:29:28] Speaker 3: created that piece of content where you had the practice shot.
[1:29:30] Speaker 1: Is that what you're talking about?
[1:29:32] Speaker 2: Then yeah.
[1:29:33] Speaker 1: Damn it, bro. You ruined my fucking fantastic story.
[1:29:36] Speaker 2: Sorry.
[1:29:37] Speaker 3: So he had shot it in practice in Puerto Rico
[1:29:41] Speaker 3: and combined it happening at SummerSlam with the practice shot.
[1:29:46] Speaker 1: When I'm telling you that he literally... Two or three
[1:29:50] Speaker 1: different seats got in the back row. Like he was,
[1:29:52] Speaker 1: I was, and I didn't know why. Cause I hadn't
[1:29:55] Speaker 1: seen him work out their shit yet. I missed all that.
[1:29:58] Speaker 1: Him and Kells had just done it. So when I'm
[1:29:59] Speaker 1: out watching the match in real time, I truly don't
[1:30:02] Speaker 1: know what's happening. So I'm like a fan. They got
[1:30:04] Speaker 1: me mic'd up and everything. And all I know is
[1:30:06] Speaker 1: what I, the one thing I know, you know what
[1:30:08] Speaker 1: I mean? And I'm watching when he goes up there,
[1:30:09] Speaker 1: I was like, this motherfucker was staging his shots. Sorry.
[1:30:14] Speaker 2: You're totally right.
[1:30:14] Speaker 1: No, it's okay. You're tired.
[1:30:15] Speaker 2: First off, I appreciate that.
[1:30:18] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:30:18] Speaker 2: We're pretty specific about, well, I'm not even, I don't
[1:30:21] Speaker 2: have the energy to like dive into like the intricacies
[1:30:24] Speaker 2: of content creation, but like, I love what I do.
[1:30:27] Speaker 1: I take it very seriously. When you do have the time,
[1:30:29] Speaker 1: call me. Yeah. Give me 15 minutes of some game.
[1:30:32] Speaker 2: This is what I did want to say to you. Um,
[1:30:35] Speaker 2: that is, I, that is, I think why I haven't
[1:30:37] Speaker 2: really like try to develop a camaraderie yet with you
[1:30:40] Speaker 2: at these events. Cause like, it's, it's sort of like
[1:30:45] Speaker 2: ritualistic for me and I'm very new still. And so I,
[1:30:49] Speaker 2: I really kind of just like, it's hard for me to,
[1:30:52] Speaker 2: it's hard for me to be like a cool, fun,
[1:30:54] Speaker 2: friendly guy and also be like, shit, dude, 50,000 people
[1:30:57] Speaker 2: are going to watch me probably break my leg, but
[1:31:02] Speaker 2: I hope not. And here's what I got to do
[1:31:04] Speaker 2: to make sure I don't break my leg. And, and,
[1:31:06] Speaker 2: and the headspace that I'm in at PLA, I'm locked
[1:31:08] Speaker 2: in it. I haven't, yet gotten able to balance it.
[1:31:13] Speaker 1: You might not ever. I'm not doing flips in front
[1:31:16] Speaker 1: of 50,000 people, but I'm doing 16,000 a night in
[1:31:19] Speaker 1: an arena. And if you caught me on a show
[1:31:21] Speaker 1: day and it wasn't in my dressing room in a
[1:31:23] Speaker 1: moment I was sitting down, you would think I was
[1:31:25] Speaker 1: fucking a lost puppy a little bit. Because I'm thinking
[1:31:28] Speaker 1: about how do I not go out here and blow this.
[1:31:31] Speaker 1: How do I not blow my voice? I'm very picky
[1:31:33] Speaker 1: about how loud I'll get on show days. I respect,
[1:31:36] Speaker 1: I understand.
[1:31:36] Speaker 2: No, I do. And it's funny because watching you in
[1:31:39] Speaker 2: the rehearsals, I was sitting, we were sitting behind you
[1:31:42] Speaker 2: and it was the first time I'd seen you perform live.
[1:31:43] Speaker 2: And I'm like, Oh, I get it. This motherfucker can
[1:31:48] Speaker 2: fucking sing. Like you, you put your soul into your
[1:31:51] Speaker 2: music when you're singing. And, and I have to say just.
[1:31:53] Speaker 1: Oh, that's cool. That's when you got it.
[1:31:55] Speaker 2: Well, it's, it's funny. The moments are super similar. And,
[1:31:59] Speaker 2: i'm telling you like bro i was sitting 15 feet
[1:32:02] Speaker 2: behind you and i like felt it in my soul
[1:32:06] Speaker 2: i'm like fuck this song's a smash and my homeboy
[1:32:08] Speaker 2: can sing i gotta get to know him one day
[1:32:10] Speaker 2: i just you know whatever i'm in the headspace but i'm.
[1:32:13] Speaker 1: Glad it worked this way though man it's the way
[1:32:14] Speaker 1: i like me too me too.
[1:32:16] Speaker 2: Well it's a lot there's a lot dude you have
[1:32:18] Speaker 2: so much depth and i i appreciate that we've gotten
[1:32:21] Speaker 2: a chance to unpack i i have to give a
[1:32:23] Speaker 2: shout out to kevin my videographer, I can't do this
[1:32:28] Speaker 2: shit without someone extremely good at their job. That young
[1:32:31] Speaker 2: man right there in the light colored shirt is so
[1:32:35] Speaker 2: fucking good at his job. And like, I'm not here
[1:32:39] Speaker 2: on accident because I got lucky by myself. I have
[1:32:41] Speaker 2: a team of really adept people who pay really close
[1:32:46] Speaker 2: attention to what that lens is capturing. And that shot
[1:32:48] Speaker 2: in particular was like, a large part in his ability
[1:32:52] Speaker 2: to like execute because i i need to trust that
[1:32:55] Speaker 2: the person shooting that is going to get that shot
[1:32:58] Speaker 2: because like that could be my last jump for four
[1:33:00] Speaker 2: months if i pull my acl don't fuck it up
[1:33:03] Speaker 2: if i even get it right um and he did
[1:33:05] Speaker 2: and so.
[1:33:05] Speaker 3: Because also because it's not you nailed it it's also
[1:33:07] Speaker 3: not a job to him that's why yeah it's his
[1:33:10] Speaker 3: life kevin fucking lives for this shit bro it's hard
[1:33:13] Speaker 3: to find.
[1:33:13] Speaker 1: That's the first time he looked like y'all were praising.
[1:33:15] Speaker 2: Him well he deserves more praise that's probably the deepest.
[1:33:19] Speaker 1: Y'all were giving y'all were giving kevin the nicest words
[1:33:21] Speaker 1: and he was sitting over there like his that's how
[1:33:24] Speaker 1: i looked that's why he said the light-colored shirt i
[1:33:28] Speaker 1: kept looking around like it can't be this.
[1:33:29] Speaker 2: No i know i was like i know you don't
[1:33:30] Speaker 2: know who i'm talking about he's just sitting there no
[1:33:32] Speaker 2: it's him bro it's him he's a wizard he's a wizard.
[1:33:34] Speaker 1: Behind the lens i've told that story about you to
[1:33:38] Speaker 1: everybody i've talking behind the scenes. You know how people talk.
[1:33:42] Speaker 1: And they were talking about wrestling. I was like, how
[1:33:44] Speaker 1: was Logan Paul? I was like, dude, let me tell
[1:33:45] Speaker 1: you about this guy. This dude, man. You were always
[1:33:48] Speaker 1: sweet to me anyway. But I was like, the man
[1:33:50] Speaker 1: just knew what he was doing, man.
[1:33:52] Speaker 2: It's my most viewed video on Instagram ever. That particular video.
[1:33:56] Speaker 1: It was fucking beautiful.
[1:33:57] Speaker 2: Sometimes you get that perfect video and as a person
[1:34:00] Speaker 2: who's been doing this forever, dude, I love that idea.
[1:34:04] Speaker 1: Did you feel it when you were flipping that it
[1:34:06] Speaker 1: was nailed? I know you probably talked about this a bunch,
[1:34:09] Speaker 1: but did you feel it like in the middle of
[1:34:11] Speaker 1: the air? I knew it. I love that feeling. I
[1:34:13] Speaker 1: knew it.
[1:34:13] Speaker 2: And it was the best I had ever done it in.
[1:34:16] Speaker 1: Front of 50,000 people. It was crazy. Oh, that's the
[1:34:18] Speaker 1: best feeling.
[1:34:19] Speaker 2: WWE is, I appreciate what you said about this showmanship
[1:34:24] Speaker 2: artistry of what you're witnessing, because that's something that to
[1:34:29] Speaker 2: my core, I'm obsessed with. Every single action has a meaning.
[1:34:37] Speaker 2: and is important to get right. And has, has a,
[1:34:41] Speaker 2: has a depth that I think like the average person
[1:34:44] Speaker 2: doesn't understand, but once you're in the world and you
[1:34:47] Speaker 2: like realize the stories that you're watching, I'm glued.
[1:34:50] Speaker 1: Now I'm a fan. Oh, the showmanship though, the athleticism. Yeah.
[1:34:54] Speaker 1: And I'm, I'm dude, I, uh, Getting the choke slam
[1:34:57] Speaker 1: awesome theories. Oh my God.
[1:34:59] Speaker 2: That was, dude, that was sick. Dude, that was sick.
[1:35:03] Speaker 1: You nailed it. It was so good.
[1:35:06] Speaker 2: I remember seeing that.
[1:35:08] Speaker 1: I was like, why? Yes. Yes. I'm telling you, dude,
[1:35:12] Speaker 1: I'm coming, man. Let's go. Dude, you choked the fuck
[1:35:16] Speaker 1: out of him. And I caught the bug in a
[1:35:18] Speaker 1: way that I've never caught a bug.
[1:35:20] Speaker 2: Sick.
[1:35:20] Speaker 1: I caught a bug so much. I think I'm going
[1:35:22] Speaker 1: to buy a ring. It was awesome, dude. And to
[1:35:27] Speaker 1: shoot on it for a second, because I haven't got
[1:35:28] Speaker 1: to do this yet, and this is where I've been
[1:35:30] Speaker 1: hoping I got to do it. Let's go. Austin Theory
[1:35:33] Speaker 1: is a superhero.
[1:35:34] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:35:35] Speaker 1: He is a fucking hero is what he is. And
[1:35:38] Speaker 1: I'm not in the business, so I don't got to
[1:35:40] Speaker 1: carry a kayfabe. That dude made me look like a
[1:35:43] Speaker 1: fucking rock star. I love that dude and will forever,
[1:35:47] Speaker 1: because he told me that whole night he was like,
[1:35:50] Speaker 1: I got you, dog. Trust me. And because I looked at,
[1:35:53] Speaker 1: I sat down with R-Truth and Miz earlier in the
[1:35:56] Speaker 1: night and I said, look, y'all, if we do this right,
[1:35:59] Speaker 1: we should have a top three viral moment. I was like,
[1:36:03] Speaker 1: Roman's return, Logan's flip, R-fucking five knuckle shuffling chokeslam. That
[1:36:10] Speaker 1: should be the three moments. It was the three moments,
[1:36:12] Speaker 1: by the way. You were right, you were right. Dead on.
[1:36:14] Speaker 1: And I was like, if we pull this, and something
[1:36:17] Speaker 1: you'll appreciate about this, you can ask Miz, I did
[1:36:19] Speaker 1: the work too, though. I went back there and really
[1:36:21] Speaker 1: got with Miz and I spent some time back there. Like,
[1:36:24] Speaker 1: I do not, he's the best. He is the fucking dude.
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: He is the dude. R-Truth too. Miz is probably like
[1:36:30] Speaker 1: a mentor to you, huh? Especially being an old Cleveland dude.
[1:36:32] Speaker 1: So good.
[1:36:33] Speaker 2: Send me a gift for my baby girl.
[1:36:35] Speaker 1: Just sweet dude. He's awesome. I love him.
[1:36:37] Speaker 2: And such a good coach.
[1:36:38] Speaker 1: Such a good coach, man. I felt like I was
[1:36:40] Speaker 1: in the better hands in all state. I mean, I was,
[1:36:43] Speaker 1: I felt so comfortable with them.
[1:36:44] Speaker 2: I feel bad every time they make me wrestle him
[1:36:46] Speaker 2: that I just have to beat his ass.
[1:36:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, right. You got to do what you got to do.
[1:36:52] Speaker 1: At least you got to give a bump, bro, and
[1:36:54] Speaker 1: you didn't have to fucking take one. He got an
[1:36:57] Speaker 1: ass beat. The Usos. You got to give a bump. Yeah, dude.
[1:37:02] Speaker 1: You got to slam someone. I got smoked, bro.
[1:37:06] Speaker 2: You should watch the Usos super kicking the fuck out
[1:37:09] Speaker 2: of you.
[1:37:09] Speaker 1: It was crazy in Saudi Arabia, dude. I love Jacob.
[1:37:13] Speaker 1: I love Jacob, by the way. Oh, yeah. Fatu? I
[1:37:15] Speaker 1: think Fatu is, I think he is one of the,
[1:37:18] Speaker 1: He is the dude. I love that dude as a dude,
[1:37:21] Speaker 1: but I love him as a wrestler. I love everything
[1:37:25] Speaker 1: about him.
[1:37:25] Speaker 2: Very clear rising star. He's one of the only guys
[1:37:30] Speaker 2: who really stands out to me. And I think everyone
[1:37:33] Speaker 2: else sees it. And while I recognize his greatness, part
[1:37:40] Speaker 2: of me also thinks he's on my list.
[1:37:44] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:37:46] Speaker 2: And I will be wrestling him in the near future,
[1:37:47] Speaker 2: and we're going to be going at it. So I
