[0:00] Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us.
[0:03] Speaker 2: This is the first guest that I've once played with
[0:05] Speaker 2: a miniature version.
[0:06] Speaker 3: Of for hours.
[0:08] Speaker 4: Were you at WrestleMania 40? Some people are saying it's
[0:10] Speaker 4: the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
[0:11] Speaker 1: They probably weren't alive when I was wrestling.
[0:14] Speaker 5: I got a move named after you. It's called the
[0:16] Speaker 5: Hulk Logan.
[0:17] Speaker 1: I love it, brother. I remember when I was in Atlanta,
[0:19] Speaker 1: I was in the business about three years, and I
[0:21] Speaker 1: was like 330 pounds, all natural. Anyway, they've done like
[0:26] Speaker 1: 70 different action figures of me, and the only one
[0:28] Speaker 1: that they ever canceled was the vibrating one.
[0:31] Speaker 3: Sky's like, I still have mine.
[0:32] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
[0:41] Speaker 3: Hulk, you got a stylist? Yeah. Who styles you? I
[0:50] Speaker 3: don't know, dude.
[0:52] Speaker 1: You're always styling.
[0:54] Speaker 5: Got a promo on him for that dumb question.
[0:56] Speaker 1: You're always styling. What am I doing? Yeah, yeah. He's
[0:59] Speaker 1: like me.
[0:59] Speaker 5: He's too strong, right? Yeah.
[1:03] Speaker 1: And he's like....
[1:13] Speaker 4: Really actually super strong like he doesn't look like it
[1:18] Speaker 4: he maybe does look like it a little bit but
[1:19] Speaker 4: but but like the way he pushes in the gym
[1:22] Speaker 4: is impressive.
[1:23] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah no no no seriously and and he has
[1:27] Speaker 1: a left hand now that looks like it's firing off Yeah,
[1:38] Speaker 1: I love Mike to death. I don't want to kill Mike. Jesus. Tyson. Yeah.
[1:42] Speaker 5: Bro, we have to talk about this.
[1:43] Speaker 1: Wait, is this the podcast? Yeah.
[1:44] Speaker 5: I'm excited.
[1:44] Speaker 6: Should we just give him headphones over here?
[1:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
[1:49] Speaker 5: You can just stay there.
[1:50] Speaker 4: He's talking about Mike and Jake.
[1:53] Speaker 5: I'm like, you can just do it here.
[1:54] Speaker 3: No, you can save it.
[1:55] Speaker 5: Put your bottom up right over here.
[1:57] Speaker 1: Oh, oh, oh. I actually don't hate it. That's hilarious.
[2:00] Speaker 5: It's interesting. That's hilarious.
[2:01] Speaker 3: Like Hulk does what Hulk wants, right?
[2:03] Speaker 5: Hulk does what Hulk wants.
[2:05] Speaker 3: Give him a high chair.
[2:06] Speaker 1: High chair. Yeah, I can relate.
[2:09] Speaker 3: Bro, this dude's a legend.
[2:10] Speaker 5: Yeah, he's fired up.
[2:12] Speaker 1: I had to advise him this morning.
[2:15] Speaker 3: When I woke up, my eyes were super dry.
[2:16] Speaker 1: Oh, advising.
[2:18] Speaker 5: This is you. Headphones are optional.
[2:21] Speaker 1: Oh, really? I'll recommend them.
[2:22] Speaker 3: But I won't recommend anything to you, sir. You can
[2:25] Speaker 3: just do anything you want to him.
[2:27] Speaker 1: In trouble. No, I know.
[2:30] Speaker 5: I got him off the streets of Connecticut.
[2:31] Speaker 1: I'm sitting there. Half asleep last night. He walks by.
[2:34] Speaker 1: 11 o'clock tomorrow. I was like.
[2:36] Speaker 4: Him? Him?
[2:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, this one right here. So get your ass back
[2:42] Speaker 3: over here.
[2:43] Speaker 5: Yo, what?
[2:43] Speaker 3: That was funny.
[2:44] Speaker 1: My wife goes, whose ass?
[2:45] Speaker 5: I don't really know.
[2:48] Speaker 1: He goes, 11 o'clock?
[2:48] Speaker 5: I'm not going nowhere at 11 o'clock. That's Mike Malak.
[2:51] Speaker 1: That depends on what time we get to bed, man.
[2:53] Speaker 5: Are you comfortable with this pillow behind you? You want
[2:56] Speaker 5: me to move that?
[2:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, grab the thing out of there, bro. Oh, there
[2:59] Speaker 1: you go. Oh, thank you.
[3:03] Speaker 3: Did you go to bed last night?
[3:05] Speaker 1: I laid down about 3.30. Dude.
[3:09] Speaker 5: That's why I said it was me.
[3:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, but. Yeah, we've been running, man, I think. Bo. Yes, sir.
[3:17] Speaker 1: Where the hell were we, Ozarks?
[3:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, in the convention to Lake of the Ozarks.
[3:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the first night we had like two
[3:26] Speaker 1: hours sleep.
[3:28] Speaker 5: You're just not sleeping?
[3:29] Speaker 1: This is my wife, Skye. I don't know if you
[3:30] Speaker 1: guys met. Yes, Skye. Okay. I'm sorry. I'm just not
[3:33] Speaker 1: waking up.
[3:34] Speaker 3: Hulk, do you need sleep?
[3:35] Speaker 1: Oh, God, yeah, bro. If I don't, man, my back
[3:38] Speaker 1: and everything.
[3:39] Speaker 5: Eyes start bleeding?
[3:41] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I've had like in the last, are we going?
[3:44] Speaker 1: Are we rolling? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we're starting. You guys
[3:47] Speaker 1: tell me when.
[3:48] Speaker 2: No, it's real casual. Real casual stuff. This ain't Tucker Carlson,
[3:53] Speaker 2: to say the least.
[3:54] Speaker 1: No, I've had like 25 surgeries in the last 10 years. Yeah,
[3:57] Speaker 1: 10 back surgeries. Nobody told me that stuff was fake, man. No,
[4:05] Speaker 1: but before, no, 10 back surgeries, both knees, both hips replaced, shoulders, everything.
[4:10] Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, the equipment back
[4:14] Speaker 1: in the day when I started wrestling in 77 was
[4:16] Speaker 1: a little different than the rings and stuff you guys
[4:19] Speaker 1: are working in now. Yeah, totally. I heard it was much,
[4:21] Speaker 1: much harder. Oh, God. Andre used to tell me at Baltimore, boss,
[4:24] Speaker 1: don't fall down. You won't get back up. It was
[4:29] Speaker 1: like a 22-foot boxing ring. It had lumps in it,
[4:31] Speaker 1: boards sticking up. It was horrible.
[4:33] Speaker 5: That didn't concern you? Because now you're kind of paying
[4:37] Speaker 5: the price for it.
[4:38] Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, you came from South Tampa. There's a
[4:43] Speaker 1: road called Gandy Boulevard here. And if you're south of Gandy,
[4:47] Speaker 1: you're called a SOG. S-O-G, south of Gandy. And you
[4:52] Speaker 1: either work construction, you either became a professional athlete, or
[4:56] Speaker 1: you sold drugs. Those are your choices. So which one
[5:00] Speaker 1: did you choose? Uh, well, I, I was, I did
[5:03] Speaker 1: a little different. I played music for like 10 years
[5:05] Speaker 1: before I ever got into the wrestling business. But, uh, no,
[5:09] Speaker 1: it was, uh, it was something that I kind of
[5:11] Speaker 1: stumbled into. I was a huge fan, but yeah, I
[5:14] Speaker 1: mean it back in the day when we were wrestling, bro,
[5:16] Speaker 1: you know, first off, when I went to Japan, I
[5:20] Speaker 1: was coming off the top rope and no knee pads on,
[5:22] Speaker 1: and I was 330 pounds. And all of a sudden,
[5:25] Speaker 1: you know, I said, okay, the left knee's already gone.
[5:27] Speaker 1: I've only been in the business like two years. So
[5:29] Speaker 1: it was just the equipment and jumping up and dropping
[5:32] Speaker 1: the damn leg for 40 years. When I had the
[5:35] Speaker 1: largest arms in the world, I should have been using
[5:36] Speaker 1: a sleeper, no bumps, you know. Yeah, it was all cool, man.
[5:41] Speaker 1: No regrets.
[5:42] Speaker 4: Well, that's what I was going to ask because, like,
[5:43] Speaker 4: as someone who's new in the industry, I'm recognizing that, like,
[5:46] Speaker 4: longevity is kind of the name of the game. And
[5:49] Speaker 4: I want to be healthy so I could do this sport,
[5:51] Speaker 4: but I'm also looking 10, 23. 30 years down the line,
[5:55] Speaker 4: and I don't want to be hobbling around, but do
[5:58] Speaker 4: you think you wish you would have played it a
[6:01] Speaker 4: little smarter for the sake of your body and your
[6:03] Speaker 4: physical health?
[6:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, I probably should have quit earlier, you know, but
[6:07] Speaker 1: I just love doing it, you know, and the money
[6:09] Speaker 1: was just crazy, you know, because my deal is different
[6:12] Speaker 1: than everybody else's, you know, and so it worked out well, but,
[6:17] Speaker 1: you know, if I had quit a little bit earlier,
[6:20] Speaker 1: Probably would have been better off. But anybody that stays
[6:22] Speaker 1: in 20, 30 years, like I was in almost 40,
[6:25] Speaker 1: you'll see them all. They're all walking around and limping. Yeah,
[6:29] Speaker 1: I know. We've had a lot of them on the show.
[6:30] Speaker 1: All of them. They're all beat up, man. Yeah, for sure.
[6:32] Speaker 3: Do you do any of that new age shit, stem cells?
[6:35] Speaker 1: I've tried it all.
[6:36] Speaker 3: Any of it work for you?
[6:37] Speaker 5: It doesn't work?
[6:38] Speaker 1: Not for me.
[6:39] Speaker 2: But that's the thing, though. You say quit earlier, and
[6:42] Speaker 2: I think that's the piece of advice. But when he
[6:44] Speaker 2: says take it a little bit easier. The boat.
[6:46] Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
[6:48] Speaker 1: You got a cold beer, bro? I need something.
[6:50] Speaker 3: That'll work.
[6:51] Speaker 5: It's your beer.
[6:53] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there it is. Thanks for promoting my beer, guys. Yeah,
[6:57] Speaker 1: of course. Real American beer.
[7:01] Speaker 3: Why don't you crack one with him, buddy?
[7:02] Speaker 5: I'll crack a beer with you.
[7:03] Speaker 1: No, don't do it. You're useless when you start. We
[7:06] Speaker 1: were on the phone the night before with Trump. After
[7:10] Speaker 1: the thing, he called and I missed his call and
[7:12] Speaker 1: we were running pretty hard at the Ozark because that's
[7:16] Speaker 1: a little wild over there. So when we came in,
[7:19] Speaker 1: I I'm going to text that son of a gun.
[7:22] Speaker 1: As I was texting, he called me back and we
[7:25] Speaker 1: talked about it. I told him, I said, the timing
[7:27] Speaker 1: for this beer is, you know, I saw this crazy
[7:31] Speaker 1: open lane and my whole thing's always been marketing and
[7:34] Speaker 1: licensing stuff. You know, so when I went back to
[7:37] Speaker 1: WWE in 84 to wrestle the sheep, they weren't selling t-shirts.
[7:40] Speaker 1: They didn't have any music to go to the ring.
[7:41] Speaker 1: And I was already doing that in Minnesota and I
[7:44] Speaker 1: was making a ton of, a ton of money on
[7:46] Speaker 1: merchant stuff. So, You know, when I, when I came
[7:49] Speaker 1: back and did the, the real American thing, you know, I, uh,
[7:52] Speaker 1: thank you, brother. I was, uh, I was telling Trump
[7:55] Speaker 1: on the phone. I said, you know, I saw this
[7:58] Speaker 1: open lane, you know, and, and Trump's been around quite
[8:01] Speaker 1: a while, you know, and he's, he's awesome in the
[8:03] Speaker 1: ring too, brother. If you ever get, have a chance
[8:05] Speaker 1: to get in the ring with Trump, you got to
[8:06] Speaker 1: do it. Of course. He'll do whatever you want.
[8:09] Speaker 5: He's great. He did a face off with me and
[8:11] Speaker 5: it was so cool about it.
[8:13] Speaker 4: We did a stare down and he's, he's like my,
[8:16] Speaker 4: my cool grandpa.
[8:17] Speaker 1: There you go. There you go.
[8:18] Speaker 5: And I imagine you guys have known each other forever.
[8:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, forever. But we were on the phone. I was
[8:23] Speaker 1: telling him about the rest. I said, the weird thing
[8:25] Speaker 1: is the timing. Because when I saw that open lane
[8:29] Speaker 1: where Bud Light crashed and burned with that marketing plan,
[8:31] Speaker 1: you know, I said, oh, boy, here we go. I
[8:34] Speaker 1: was at a convention. When the WWE rushes people through
[8:37] Speaker 1: pretty quick because you've got a couple thousand people to
[8:40] Speaker 1: see you or your brother, you know, if you're with
[8:42] Speaker 1: the WWE, they try to get everybody they can.
[8:44] Speaker 2: Yep.
[8:45] Speaker 1: But when I have time, I like to shake hands,
[8:47] Speaker 1: look at people in the eye and stuff. And this
[8:50] Speaker 1: guy had the Pabst Blue Ribbon vice president tag on.
[8:52] Speaker 1: I said, oh damn man, my dad used to drink
[8:54] Speaker 1: that beer. Yeah, that's the beer my dad drank. And
[8:57] Speaker 1: so he asked me if I ever thought about doing
[8:59] Speaker 1: an alcohol endorsement. I said, well, not before, but now
[9:03] Speaker 1: that I saw this open lane, I said, I think
[9:06] Speaker 1: I got this crazy idea for a beer that America's
[9:09] Speaker 1: been waiting for. And I said, back in the day
[9:12] Speaker 1: when I was wrestling, I was telling Trump back in
[9:14] Speaker 1: the day when we'd wrestle, and he saw a lot
[9:17] Speaker 1: of it because he was there at the very beginning,
[9:19] Speaker 1: that if him and I were in the ring and
[9:22] Speaker 1: everything was cool and all of a sudden he knocked
[9:24] Speaker 1: my teeth out, sometimes no lawyers, no lawsuits, we'd go
[9:27] Speaker 1: back out in the ring and settle it, especially if
[9:29] Speaker 1: the guy's been a jerk off and not being safe
[9:32] Speaker 1: out there. So we'd go settle it out in the ring.
[9:34] Speaker 1: But for me, all the guys I was wrestling, I
[9:37] Speaker 1: was like 310 pounds. I was a medium-sized guy. Most
[9:41] Speaker 1: of the guys were bigger than me except for Piper
[9:43] Speaker 1: and Macho. Everybody else was bigger than me. So I said,
[9:46] Speaker 1: let's have a beer and talk about it. So that's
[9:48] Speaker 1: where the idea came from. And since the Democrats and
[9:51] Speaker 1: the Republicans don't talk, I was thinking, wow, this is
[9:54] Speaker 1: even bigger than politics, you know, because the beer I
[9:58] Speaker 1: was thinking of, it doesn't matter who you are. where
[10:01] Speaker 1: you're from, what color your skin is, or what your
[10:03] Speaker 1: sexual preference is. This is the beer for all real
[10:05] Speaker 1: Americans because we're all real Americans. And I was telling
[10:08] Speaker 1: Trump my idea was let's bring America back together one
[10:12] Speaker 1: beer at a time.
[10:13] Speaker 3: Unity through alcohol.
[10:14] Speaker 1: Yeah. There you go. I love it. You should make
[10:17] Speaker 1: that your tagline. Thank you, brother. That one's on the
[10:20] Speaker 1: house for what he did for my childhood. I'll make
[10:22] Speaker 1: some money with that one. Yeah, but, you know, and
[10:25] Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, as divided as we are,
[10:28] Speaker 1: we are more alike than we are different. And then
[10:29] Speaker 1: after this crap happened with Trump, you know, the beer
[10:32] Speaker 1: had taken off before. You know, they said, well, if
[10:35] Speaker 1: you get a couple of states and a couple of
[10:36] Speaker 1: distributors in the first year, you know, you're going to
[10:39] Speaker 1: be doing good. All of a sudden, we're rolling out
[10:41] Speaker 1: almost 27 states and 60, 70 distributors. Instead of having
[10:46] Speaker 1: a couple hundred thousand cases, we got millions ordered. That's incredible.
[10:50] Speaker 1: And so now with the Trump thing, I was telling him,
[10:53] Speaker 1: I said, America needs to come back together even more.
[10:56] Speaker 1: You know, and I was telling Trump when I was
[10:58] Speaker 1: doing the speech, well, Vo was with me and Vo
[11:01] Speaker 1: was in the back and the stage manager goes, Hogan's
[11:04] Speaker 1: been out there for six minutes. He hasn't read the
[11:06] Speaker 1: teleprompter yet. We can't believe it. We can't believe they
[11:09] Speaker 1: haven't ripped him off the stage. And Vogue goes, just
[11:12] Speaker 1: let him go. He's okay. And so, you know, I
[11:16] Speaker 1: was out there and I said, yeah, with Donald Trump
[11:18] Speaker 1: or whatever the hell. I said, I can't remember. We're
[11:19] Speaker 1: going to bring America back together, one real American at
[11:22] Speaker 1: a time. And I almost said beer. You know, but
[11:25] Speaker 1: I didn't do it. And it might have been cool,
[11:27] Speaker 1: even though the people don't know, half the people there
[11:29] Speaker 1: don't even know I get the beer. It might have
[11:30] Speaker 1: been cool to say of it. I was telling Trump
[11:32] Speaker 1: on the phone, I said, brother, your whole thing, if
[11:35] Speaker 1: there was anything crazy, is the fact that you survived
[11:39] Speaker 1: this thing, and it pissed me off so bad. But
[11:41] Speaker 1: on the other hand, it's probably going to make the
[11:43] Speaker 1: beer sell even more.
[11:44] Speaker 5: Yeah, sure.
[11:45] Speaker 3: I heard the Secret Service down like a 30-pack before.
[11:48] Speaker 1: The speech that day. I love it. I love it.
[11:49] Speaker 1: That's great, man.
[11:50] Speaker 5: Is Trump really your hero?
[11:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, brother. I've known that guy. We rented the... the
[11:57] Speaker 1: business was so different a long time ago because it
[12:00] Speaker 1: was just me and Vince at first. And I moved up,
[12:03] Speaker 1: I worked for his dad originally and his dad fired
[12:06] Speaker 1: me for doing the Rocky movies. They said I'd never
[12:09] Speaker 1: worked there again. And then when I came back after
[12:12] Speaker 1: I started a promotion in Minnesota, I was coming in
[12:14] Speaker 1: to take over New York. And when I went back,
[12:18] Speaker 1: Vince used to be the ring guy doing the interviews.
[12:20] Speaker 1: He never really was involved that much in the business.
[12:23] Speaker 1: And when I came back, I worked for him. What
[12:26] Speaker 1: was the question?
[12:27] Speaker 4: Yeah well this happens sometimes um the question was is
[12:31] Speaker 4: trump no it's no no no because i do want
[12:35] Speaker 4: to know because you got on stage at the rnc
[12:38] Speaker 4: and you said trump's your hero and it looked like
[12:39] Speaker 4: you had taken it really.
[12:41] Speaker 1: Personally yeah well i did bro i did i did
[12:44] Speaker 1: in the beer honestly not trying to be an ass
[12:46] Speaker 1: with the beer isn't really a gimmick this is personal
[12:49] Speaker 1: too because i really think we need to get our
[12:50] Speaker 1: shit together and come back together for sure but yeah
[12:53] Speaker 1: you know um What was the question?
[12:55] Speaker 5: Yeah, so this happens sometimes. It happens to us all
[12:58] Speaker 5: the time.
[13:00] Speaker 1: You know what?
[13:00] Speaker 3: I don't even know.
[13:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, he's my hero. Wait, now I don't think he knows.
[13:03] Speaker 1: I don't think he knows. I just remembered. I've only
[13:05] Speaker 1: been knocked out a couple times. I just remembered.
[13:08] Speaker 5: You took it personally. It sounded.
[13:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, I did.
[13:10] Speaker 5: You got fired up up there. Someone tried to kill
[13:14] Speaker 5: your hero.
[13:14] Speaker 3: That's your boy, bro. That's your boy. Someone tried to
[13:17] Speaker 3: kill him.
[13:18] Speaker 1: No, but, you know, I've watched how he's treated people,
[13:21] Speaker 1: you know, because he had that air about him, you know,
[13:24] Speaker 1: when we first met him. And I was like, okay, man,
[13:26] Speaker 1: am I going to get along with this guy or not?
[13:27] Speaker 1: Because I was at the top of my game back then.
[13:29] Speaker 1: I was on a roll, man. I was the world's champion.
[13:32] Speaker 1: I was doing all these low-budget kids' movies. I was
[13:34] Speaker 1: doing reality TV.
[13:36] Speaker 3: When is this, late 80s?
[13:38] Speaker 1: Early 90s? Yeah, getting to be late 80s. WrestleMania III
[13:42] Speaker 1: was in 88, so it was after that, 89, 90.
[13:43] Speaker 1: That's the Andre the Giant moment. Yeah, brother.
[13:45] Speaker 3: The slam.
[13:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, and so then I saw how he treated people,
[13:49] Speaker 1: you know? And just to watch him walk in at
[13:53] Speaker 1: the beginning of the night, when the preliminary match started
[13:56] Speaker 1: and sit there all night long and just how he
[13:58] Speaker 1: talked to all the wrestlers in the back and how
[14:00] Speaker 1: kind he was to people. And I saw how he
[14:02] Speaker 1: handled the Make-A-Wish kids I watched this guy with. I said,
[14:05] Speaker 1: now this brother's for real, you know? And then I
[14:08] Speaker 1: got to know him and I love him to death,
[14:10] Speaker 1: but he is kind of vain, you know? And I
[14:13] Speaker 1: used to be like the celebrity referee for Us Magazine.
[14:17] Speaker 1: So if Logan Paul got in an argument with Jake
[14:20] Speaker 1: Paul over a girl or something, I'd say, okay, Logan,
[14:23] Speaker 1: you're right. You're right, but your brother's got better hair
[14:27] Speaker 1: than you or something. I actually think it's the exact opposite.
[14:31] Speaker 5: Usually I'm wrong. And I also have better hair.
[14:35] Speaker 1: There you go.
[14:37] Speaker 3: That is not the metric for me.
[14:39] Speaker 1: What I'm trying to tell you is I did this
[14:41] Speaker 1: celebrity thing between Donald Trump and J-Lo. And Trump was right,
[14:45] Speaker 1: because J-Lo was not being cool. But I tagged him with,
[14:49] Speaker 1: and by the way, Trump, J-Lo's got better hair than you.
[14:52] Speaker 1: Holy shit, I get a letter from Trump Plaza, a
[14:57] Speaker 1: handwritten letter. No, from Trump. Well, apparently, Terry, I thought
[15:02] Speaker 1: we were on the same page and we were friends,
[15:03] Speaker 1: but you know.
[15:05] Speaker 2: Bro, that's literally the worst thing you could say to Trump.
[15:09] Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I was just ribbing, bro.
[15:11] Speaker 1: I was just trying to get a cheap shot and
[15:13] Speaker 1: get myself over, you know. His family, his mom, it
[15:16] Speaker 1: don't matter. No, but he's a great guy, man. We've
[15:20] Speaker 1: talked and We're on the same page.

[16:45] Speaker 1: Back to the show. And I told Hannity the other night,
[16:48] Speaker 1: I said, I was one of these guys that was
[16:50] Speaker 1: a coward. You know, I was one of these guys
[16:52] Speaker 1: that wouldn't put a trump sign on my yard or
[16:55] Speaker 1: wouldn't wear the Trump shirt, the Trump hat. Cause I
[16:57] Speaker 1: was afraid, you know, what might happen or whatever. And, uh,
[17:01] Speaker 1: I said, after they took that shot at him and
[17:03] Speaker 1: tried to kill him, I said, that was it.
[17:04] Speaker 3: I don't think, dude, I don't know.
[17:06] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[17:06] Speaker 3: I don't think you were a coward.
[17:07] Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of people who just, but
[17:11] Speaker 2: not because you were, what are you scared?
[17:12] Speaker 3: You're not scared of shit.
[17:13] Speaker 2: There's a lot of people who up until this moment,
[17:16] Speaker 2: until someone tried to take his head off, just didn't
[17:18] Speaker 2: really want to spend their time having that conversation. you
[17:21] Speaker 2: see the fire that it brings to your porch when
[17:23] Speaker 2: you put a sign up, then you got to deal
[17:25] Speaker 2: with all the feedback.
[17:26] Speaker 3: The hatred, this, that, and now it becomes your life.
[17:28] Speaker 3: It consumes your life.
[17:29] Speaker 2: How much have you done over the past six days
[17:32] Speaker 2: or however long it's been since you spoke.
[17:35] Speaker 3: At RNC related to this topic?
[17:37] Speaker 2: It is now ingrained in your being. So like, you're
[17:41] Speaker 2: not a coward for having not gotten into it, but
[17:43] Speaker 2: now it feels like people are being called to because
[17:46] Speaker 2: he got shot at, which I understand completely.
[17:48] Speaker 1: Well, the whole, the whole vibes changed because you know, Like,
[17:51] Speaker 1: usually when I walk in, like, the arena last night,
[17:55] Speaker 1: the chants will go, Hogan, Hogan, as soon as I
[17:58] Speaker 1: come in, you know? And I've been to a couple
[18:00] Speaker 1: UFC fights where they'll be in that rest hold, or
[18:03] Speaker 1: I don't know exactly all the terminology, but a guy
[18:06] Speaker 1: will go behind somebody and try to put him in
[18:07] Speaker 1: a rear naked choke. He won't quite get him, or
[18:10] Speaker 1: if they're against the cage, the whole crowd will start going, Hogan.
[18:13] Speaker 1: I'm like, holy shit, you know? But last night we
[18:15] Speaker 1: walked in, it was like, USA, USA, and then all
[18:18] Speaker 1: of a sudden, They put the camera on me and
[18:21] Speaker 1: my wife's guy and the whole place is going F
[18:24] Speaker 1: Joe Biden. That was before you guys came out. The
[18:26] Speaker 1: whole building is going F Joe Biden. I was like, okay,
[18:30] Speaker 1: this has changed a little bit.
[18:31] Speaker 5: Well, that's kind of what he's saying.
[18:32] Speaker 4: You know, now, now it's at least momentarily kind of
[18:36] Speaker 4: ingrained in, in your brand because you did go to
[18:39] Speaker 4: the RNC and fired up those Republicans.
[18:41] Speaker 5: You ripped your shirt off.
[18:42] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I had, I didn't want to freak
[18:45] Speaker 1: him out too bad because They made me go in
[18:47] Speaker 1: the back and rehearse and I've never rehearsed anything, you know?
[18:51] Speaker 1: And I mean, even the matches, I don't talk about,
[18:53] Speaker 1: I never talked about a match.
[18:54] Speaker 5: I heard this. We'll get into all of that.
[18:56] Speaker 1: No, no. But the whole thing was I'm in the
[18:58] Speaker 1: back and they got the plexiglass podium and there's like
[19:03] Speaker 1: 20 jabronis sitting in there. I don't even know who
[19:05] Speaker 1: the hell they were. And all of a sudden the
[19:08] Speaker 1: lady was really nice. All the people were really nice.
[19:11] Speaker 1: And they had a teleprompter in front of me and
[19:13] Speaker 1: one on each side and You know, they said, we
[19:16] Speaker 1: want to time this. I'm like, Oh, how much time
[19:18] Speaker 1: do I have tough? You know? And so I tried
[19:22] Speaker 1: to do what they wanted me to do. I couldn't
[19:23] Speaker 1: do it, man. Then I started losing my confidence. I
[19:26] Speaker 1: started freaking and I knew they were all scared that
[19:29] Speaker 1: I was going to, you know, blow it when I
[19:31] Speaker 1: went out there. And Beau, Beau was cool. He knew
[19:34] Speaker 1: he knows what I'm up to, but it was kind
[19:36] Speaker 1: of weird because when the stage manager goes, he's out
[19:38] Speaker 1: there for six minutes and he hasn't read the teleprompter yet.
[19:41] Speaker 1: We can't believe they haven't jerked him off the stage.
[19:44] Speaker 1: I kind of pushed it, but bro, I only gave
[19:46] Speaker 1: it 50%. I mean, now that I know I can
[19:49] Speaker 1: get away with that, crap, if I go talking, I'm
[19:51] Speaker 1: going to hammer it, bro.
[19:53] Speaker 5: Because once I get out there.
[19:54] Speaker 1: And I start thinking, my mind goes to some really
[19:57] Speaker 1: weird places, bro. You know, I had some crazy stuff
[20:00] Speaker 1: I wasn't going to say. Skye was scared to death
[20:02] Speaker 1: because she knows anything will come out of my mouth.
[20:04] Speaker 3: I can't wait to hear this 100% one.
[20:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. She goes... I'm scared. I'm scared. I'm scared.
[20:11] Speaker 1: You know, because I don't know what's going to come
[20:12] Speaker 1: out of your mouth. I said, I'll try to do
[20:14] Speaker 1: the best I can. But yeah, it was fun, man.
[20:17] Speaker 1: But I felt I felt that those people, you know,
[20:21] Speaker 1: believed in what I was trying to say about about Trump.
[20:23] Speaker 1: You know, so it's kind of cool to feel that vibe.
[20:25] Speaker 2: It's all I also feel like there's a little bit
[20:28] Speaker 2: of a course correction here on. out of the Trump
[20:30] Speaker 2: camp and out of the Republican side to bring about
[20:33] Speaker 2: that unity that you spoke about earlier, being a little
[20:37] Speaker 2: bit more of an accepting conservative base. Yo, if you
[20:40] Speaker 2: want to come to our side, we'll accept you. We don't,
[20:42] Speaker 2: Mark Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg last week said that.
[20:45] Speaker 1: Was that him or the robot?
[20:46] Speaker 3: No, it was, I think it was the real him.
[20:48] Speaker 3: I don't think it was the clone.
[20:49] Speaker 1: I think they.
[20:50] Speaker 5: Actually got Zuckerberg. This one did seem like Mark himself.
[20:52] Speaker 2: He said- man, seeing Trump get hit and throw his
[20:56] Speaker 2: hand up is one of the most badass things.
[20:57] Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
[20:58] Speaker 5: Bar for bar. Bar for bar, he copied my tweet.
[21:00] Speaker 2: And you saw a couple people online say like, fuck him,
[21:03] Speaker 2: we don't want him. He's been against us since day one.
[21:06] Speaker 2: Stay on that side. But the majority of the bases said, listen,
[21:09] Speaker 2: you want to come over here?
[21:10] Speaker 3: We'll take you. Especially someone like Mark Zuckerberg.
[21:12] Speaker 4: I've also noticed that even just personally. I think we
[21:15] Speaker 4: had him on our podcast. I tweeted because I thought
[21:18] Speaker 4: this assassination survival was Also one of the most badass things,
[21:23] Speaker 4: if not the most badass thing I've ever seen in
[21:24] Speaker 4: my life.
[21:25] Speaker 5: And I got some comments myself, like, you switched up.
[21:28] Speaker 4: What about the comments you made about Trump back in 2020?
[21:30] Speaker 5: And I'm like, I don't know. Is it okay to change?
[21:34] Speaker 1: What if I change my mind? Is that cool with you?
[21:36] Speaker 5: Or am I solidified in your mind to just be
[21:39] Speaker 5: this one thing? But you're right. I felt like, not
[21:42] Speaker 5: to get into the politics thing, Oh, we're here, brother.
[21:46] Speaker 1: We're here, brother.
[21:48] Speaker 4: I did feel like that speech at the RNC, it
[21:51] Speaker 4: felt more about like unity rather than like I'm attacking
[21:55] Speaker 4: my opponent, which had been the angle.
[21:57] Speaker 3: I love that.
[21:58] Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, a lot of people, a lot of the haters,
[22:01] Speaker 1: a lot of people that don't get it, it's like,
[22:03] Speaker 1: you know, I was saved when I was 14 years old.
[22:05] Speaker 1: I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 14
[22:07] Speaker 1: years old. Then I derailed, of course, because I played
[22:10] Speaker 1: in a rock and roll band for 10 years. That
[22:12] Speaker 1: devil's music. That carnage. And then I got in the
[22:15] Speaker 1: wrestling business. I said, oh, my God, these wrestlers party
[22:17] Speaker 1: twice as hard as musicians. Holy smokes, this is going
[22:20] Speaker 1: to be great. You know? But at the end of
[22:24] Speaker 1: the day, when I got remarried to Sky and, you know,
[22:28] Speaker 1: she was a believer and we got the kids baptized,
[22:30] Speaker 1: we got baptized, a lot of my old friends goes,
[22:32] Speaker 1: he hasn't changed a bit. We know, Hogan, we know.
[22:35] Speaker 1: You know, it's a work. He's just a scamming brother.
[22:39] Speaker 1: You know, because I did run pretty hard. Yeah. I
[22:42] Speaker 1: was the leader of the pack for about 20 years.
[22:44] Speaker 1: All my brothers are dead. So I would go to
[22:46] Speaker 1: the edge and go, whoa, it's too far down for me.
[22:49] Speaker 1: But I did run pretty hard for a while.
[22:52] Speaker 4: It's so funny sitting with you just candidly. I get
[22:56] Speaker 4: the same kind of feeling I get when like Arnold
[22:59] Speaker 4: Schwarzenegger sat here. He's like, there's just so much. Logan,
[23:01] Speaker 4: this is the first.
[23:03] Speaker 2: Guest we've ever had on our show of 500 episodes
[23:06] Speaker 2: that I've once played with a miniature version.
[23:09] Speaker 3: Of for hours on end.
[23:12] Speaker 2: Brother, I grew up playing with this man, twisting his
[23:15] Speaker 2: arms off, making his arms go up and down like this.
[23:18] Speaker 3: This is a fucking legend.
[23:20] Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
[23:21] Speaker 2: We've had almost 500 episodes on the show. We've been
[23:24] Speaker 2: doing the show for six years.
[23:25] Speaker 3: Trump, Schwarzenegger. This is, for me, one of the craziest
[23:30] Speaker 3: fucking guys.
[23:31] Speaker 1: So, yes, I agree with you.
[23:32] Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't even know where to start.
[23:34] Speaker 1: Well, speaking of those darn figures, man. And January 23rd, 1984,
[23:39] Speaker 1: I beat the Iron Sheik. So fast forward 40 years
[23:42] Speaker 1: later to this January. And Mattel went crazy with the
[23:46] Speaker 1: action figures. You know, I made a whole bunch of stuff.
[23:49] Speaker 1: And even though I'm not wrestling and I'm not one
[23:50] Speaker 1: of the young guys like, like, you know, your brother
[23:53] Speaker 1: here is, I still, still get the number one selling
[23:56] Speaker 1: action figure in the world. They've done like 70 different
[23:58] Speaker 1: action figures on me. And the only one that they
[24:01] Speaker 1: ever canceled was the vibrating one. Because I had a
[24:05] Speaker 1: vibrating Hulk Hogan action figure.
[24:09] Speaker 3: Sky's like, I still have mine. Yeah. Wow, that's strong, brother. Wow,
[24:17] Speaker 3: that's strong. She held on to one.
[24:19] Speaker 1: I love it, I love it.
[24:21] Speaker 3: Man, that's crazy. I had one of yours that stretched.
[24:23] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[24:24] Speaker 3: That was my favorite one, dude.
[24:25] Speaker 1: That's crazy.
[24:27] Speaker 4: I am so impressed with anyone who can be relevant
[24:31] Speaker 4: for that long. That's gotta be like the hardest thing
[24:33] Speaker 4: about any of these industries that we're in.
[24:35] Speaker 5: It's just like, you've been doing it for so long
[24:37] Speaker 5: and you're still at the top.
[24:39] Speaker 4: I think because of the way you impacted the industry,
[24:41] Speaker 4: you're like one of the founding fathers of wrestling. You're
[24:44] Speaker 4: probably on every wrestler's Mount Rushmore wrestlers.
[24:48] Speaker 1: There's a few haters out there. Like who? Bret Hart?
[24:52] Speaker 5: Why is he so bitter?
[24:53] Speaker 1: Bret hates everybody. Why is he so bitter? It's not me.
[24:56] Speaker 1: It's Flair. It's Vince. You know, I'll never work for
[25:00] Speaker 1: Vince again after what happened to my family. And then
[25:03] Speaker 1: he's back, you know, it just, it just never ends
[25:05] Speaker 1: with him. And I love Brett to death, man. I
[25:07] Speaker 1: started with Brett. I mean, I mean, I remember when
[25:10] Speaker 1: I was in Atlanta, I was in the business about
[25:11] Speaker 1: three years and I was like 330 pounds, almost 340.
[25:15] Speaker 1: All natural. Anyway, I just remember Brett used to live
[25:20] Speaker 1: across the hall from me. And when I was working
[25:23] Speaker 1: for channel 17, what was it? Crockett promotions. that I
[25:29] Speaker 1: was so big, Brett, they, I'd wrestle three guys at once.
[25:32] Speaker 1: So I'd pick all three of them up in a
[25:34] Speaker 1: bear hug and just ragdoll, you know, Brett was one
[25:37] Speaker 1: of them, you know, and I'd throw him down, but
[25:39] Speaker 1: we were just all getting started. So it was all fun.
[25:42] Speaker 1: But then we got rolling and he just, man, it's just,
[25:45] Speaker 1: it's just, he says, I destroyed his career. You know,
[25:50] Speaker 1: it's like, okay, all right, whatever. You know, I just don't,
[25:55] Speaker 1: I just don't get it, man. Cause I love him
[25:56] Speaker 1: to death. He's a good guy. And he, uh, He
[25:59] Speaker 1: was a great asset to the business.
[26:00] Speaker 4: It makes me sad seeing these clips of him just
[26:03] Speaker 4: shit on everyone that he used to work with and
[26:05] Speaker 4: work for because he was a fantastic wrestler, but that
[26:11] Speaker 4: bitter taste in his mouth, it leaves a nasty taste
[26:14] Speaker 4: in my mouth to watch as a fan.
[26:16] Speaker 5: Why so angry after all these years?
[26:18] Speaker 1: Let it go. The vibe, the similar vibes and similar energy,
[26:23] Speaker 1: like attracts like. So when you talk that you're going
[26:26] Speaker 1: to more of that hatred and that negativity. And it's just,
[26:30] Speaker 1: it's not good, man. It's time to switch up, man,
[26:34] Speaker 1: and be positive and happy and love people.
[26:36] Speaker 3: It's- I don't think people get that.
[26:38] Speaker 2: I feel like people always say they want happiness and
[26:41] Speaker 2: they want positivity, but they don't understand that the only
[26:43] Speaker 2: way to get that is to put it out.
[26:45] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[26:45] Speaker 2: You put that stuff out there, it comes back to you.
[26:48] Speaker 2: You greet someone with a smile, all of a sudden
[26:50] Speaker 2: they're smiling.
[26:51] Speaker 3: Back at you.
[26:51] Speaker 1: You got it.
[26:52] Speaker 4: It's so funny how much wrestling has changed. since you
[26:57] Speaker 4: started and I'm, I am like the newest guy in wrestling,
[26:59] Speaker 4: like the newest.
[27:00] Speaker 5: Generation of it.
[27:01] Speaker 4: And I think it'll probably even change, um, from now, uh,
[27:05] Speaker 4: and then until 10 years from now. Uh, but like,
[27:08] Speaker 4: it is funny how like, I'm a, I'm a big guy.
[27:10] Speaker 5: I'm six, two, two, 10 to 20.
[27:13] Speaker 4: And, uh, yeah, well people say they meet me. They're like,
[27:17] Speaker 4: the comments usually like, yo, you're bigger in person. But
[27:19] Speaker 4: when you guys wrestled, you guys were huge. And you're
[27:22] Speaker 4: saying you were even just, medium-sized guy yeah and and
[27:26] Speaker 4: and i think um in like a blanket statement the
[27:30] Speaker 4: style from at least when you wrestle to now these
[27:34] Speaker 4: over-the-top personalities right to now i think um uh maybe
[27:40] Speaker 4: a more tactical move set based physicality based uh matchmaking
[27:45] Speaker 4: athleticism style um takes takes precedent do you see that
[27:51] Speaker 4: happening and do you have any opinions about the way
[27:53] Speaker 4: wrestling has changed and evolved.
[27:55] Speaker 1: Yeah it's changed a lot i mean the wrestlers you
[27:58] Speaker 1: know back in the day you know if you're a
[28:01] Speaker 1: wrestler you had to have the look huge arms and
[28:03] Speaker 1: a big belly you know basically so you look like
[28:06] Speaker 1: a wrestler and like before i went to do the
[28:08] Speaker 1: rocky three movie if you came to my house my
[28:11] Speaker 1: mother would go all right stand against the wall and
[28:14] Speaker 1: she'd get a little pencil and she'd put your height
[28:17] Speaker 1: up there and put your name so when i went
[28:18] Speaker 1: to do the The Rocky movie, I was six foot
[28:20] Speaker 1: seven and I weighed 330 pounds. I had a 34
[28:23] Speaker 1: inch waist. I was in crazy shape. That's crazy. Fast
[28:26] Speaker 1: forward 35 years later, right before my mother passed, you know,
[28:31] Speaker 1: she goes, Terry, get up the wall, get on the wall.
[28:33] Speaker 1: So she measured me again. I was like six, four,
[28:36] Speaker 1: you know, and like right now I weigh 265. That's
[28:38] Speaker 1: what I weighed in ninth grade. You know, so it's
[28:41] Speaker 1: kind of like, I'm still bigger than most of the wrestlers.
[28:44] Speaker 1: You know, you're a big guy, a lot of the rest,
[28:46] Speaker 1: but a lot of them are, So it's kind of
[28:49] Speaker 1: weird because a lot of the smaller guys, you know,
[28:52] Speaker 1: have kind of like went from mid-card players to tag
[28:56] Speaker 1: team players. Now they're the main event guys. Where when
[28:58] Speaker 1: I was in the business, if some of these guys
[29:00] Speaker 1: came along that were, you know, under six feet and,
[29:04] Speaker 1: you know, 180, 185 pounds, they would have never even
[29:06] Speaker 1: been in this business.
[29:07] Speaker 3: It was like the NBA almost.
[29:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's changed a lot. But the stuff that's
[29:12] Speaker 1: going on in the ring and the athleticism and the
[29:16] Speaker 1: moves they're doing, man, I always tell everybody, you know,
[29:19] Speaker 1: it's kind of like keep those boots on the ground, brother,
[29:21] Speaker 1: you know, because some people can dive off the top
[29:25] Speaker 1: and do flips and go out. It doesn't mean anything.
[29:28] Speaker 1: It's all about storytelling. Now, if you do that, you're
[29:30] Speaker 1: telling a good story that changes the game. But, you know,
[29:34] Speaker 1: to draw money, you got to you got to tell
[29:36] Speaker 1: a great story to keep getting the people back in
[29:38] Speaker 1: the seats. But it's changed. a lot now because there
[29:41] Speaker 1: aren't that many attractions. He's got an opportunity to be
[29:44] Speaker 1: a huge attraction in this business. But usually the attractions
[29:48] Speaker 1: like Stone Cold and Andre the Giant and some guy
[29:51] Speaker 1: named Hulk Hogan, back in the day, they were the star.
[29:55] Speaker 1: Now the production is the star. The TV shows the star.
[30:00] Speaker 1: There's interchangeable parts. One guy with brown hair that's six
[30:03] Speaker 1: feet tall gets hurt to bring another one for the
[30:05] Speaker 1: performance center. Give him a push, nobody knows the difference.
[30:09] Speaker 1: And so it's a little bit different, but they're always
[30:12] Speaker 1: looking for that attraction. And so watching you, my brother,
[30:17] Speaker 1: you have an opportunity to be the next big attraction
[30:20] Speaker 1: in this business simply because you got your shit together.
[30:23] Speaker 1: I've never seen anybody get this as quick as you have.
[30:28] Speaker 1: i've never seen anybody since i've been a wrestling fan
[30:32] Speaker 1: since i was in the business for years i've never
[30:34] Speaker 1: seen anybody pick up on it as quick as you
[30:37] Speaker 1: have and your stuff looks fucking believable there's no holes
[30:40] Speaker 1: in your work so just don't get hurt.
[30:42] Speaker 4: Yeah that is the big thing huh well first off
[30:45] Speaker 4: uh honored to hear that thank.
[30:48] Speaker 1: You i told your brother that when i saw him
[30:49] Speaker 1: in miami what a month ago baby.
[30:51] Speaker 4: Yeah he called me he said he told me that
[30:53] Speaker 4: man it's it's such an honor hearing that from you
[30:56] Speaker 4: obviously and and I think I've recently kind of had
[30:59] Speaker 4: that realization and I, and I try to say this humbly,
[31:02] Speaker 4: but also not, I did like look in the mirror
[31:04] Speaker 4: and looked at my, my, my craft.
[31:07] Speaker 5: And I thought like, I think I could do this
[31:09] Speaker 5: if I actually like devote my time to it.
[31:12] Speaker 4: So I did have the conversation with triple H. I said, Hey,
[31:16] Speaker 4: I want to be the guy. What do I have
[31:18] Speaker 4: to do to be the guy? And, um, I'm going to,
[31:21] Speaker 4: I'm going to start making that run next year, 2025.
[31:22] Speaker 5: Um, And I've learned so much. Wrestling is the hardest
[31:29] Speaker 5: thing I've ever done. I've done a lot.
[31:32] Speaker 4: It is by far the most difficult thing I've ever
[31:35] Speaker 4: had to do. There are so many skills involved. It
[31:37] Speaker 4: is a 360 degree art, as you know. And at
[31:41] Speaker 4: the end of the day, like you just said, it
[31:42] Speaker 4: always comes back to storytelling. What is that root of
[31:47] Speaker 4: that story you're trying to tell so you can hook
[31:49] Speaker 4: people into your arc? But what I don't understand is,
[31:53] Speaker 4: and I've heard these stories as I'm matchmaking and match building,
[31:59] Speaker 4: is your ability to show up on the day and
[32:02] Speaker 4: call the match on the spot. Because how can you
[32:07] Speaker 4: tell a story that well on the fly? In my head,
[32:13] Speaker 4: at least the way I even just script my content
[32:16] Speaker 4: or anything, I'm mapping out the beats, you know?
[32:20] Speaker 5: The exposition, the climax, all his lost moments, like all
[32:25] Speaker 5: of that.
[32:26] Speaker 4: And so how were you able to do that and
[32:30] Speaker 4: still tell these incredible stories with your work?
[32:34] Speaker 1: Well, I had a good teacher. I had Andre, who
[32:36] Speaker 1: taught me. And he beat the shit out of me
[32:39] Speaker 1: for about eight years. And then I kind of won
[32:41] Speaker 1: him over in Japan because I spent half the year
[32:45] Speaker 1: in Japan. I'd go to Japan 22 to 24 weeks
[32:47] Speaker 1: a year. And you know, I worked for Shin upon
[32:51] Speaker 1: pro wrestling over there and they owned a company called
[32:53] Speaker 1: pride also. So when you walk in the locker room,
[32:56] Speaker 1: everything was written in Japanese and they wrote the card
[32:59] Speaker 1: out every night and you never knew who you were wrestling.
[33:03] Speaker 1: Cause I couldn't read the Japanese stuff. And you didn't
[33:05] Speaker 1: know if it was one of the boys from new
[33:07] Speaker 1: Japan pro wrestling, or it was one of the pride
[33:09] Speaker 1: guys like Bob Sapp or one of these crazy sons
[33:11] Speaker 1: of a bitch. So every night you've been, thank God
[33:14] Speaker 1: I was young back then. So I wasn't afraid to
[33:16] Speaker 1: fight anybody back in the day, but. it was just different,
[33:19] Speaker 1: but Andre pretty much taught me, you know, and one
[33:25] Speaker 1: of the weirdest things that happened was when I went
[33:28] Speaker 1: to work for Ted Turner and me and Eric Bischoff
[33:31] Speaker 1: got that whole NWO thing going, you know, we tried
[33:35] Speaker 1: for like almost nine years to put Vince out of business,
[33:39] Speaker 1: you know, and we were at war because me and Vince,
[33:43] Speaker 1: it's like this love hate relationship with me and him,
[33:45] Speaker 1: you know? And so at the end of the day,
[33:49] Speaker 1: When we came back to the end, back to the WWE,
[33:53] Speaker 1: Vince calls me and goes, oh, I want you to
[33:55] Speaker 1: work with The Rock. Well, my goal was to work
[33:57] Speaker 1: with Stone Cold Steve Austin and, you know, have a
[34:00] Speaker 1: couple year run with him. As the bad guy, you
[34:02] Speaker 1: could beat me every night and I could lie, slipped
[34:04] Speaker 1: on a banana peel, sun was in my eyes. Somebody
[34:06] Speaker 1: pissed on my back. I thought it was raining. I
[34:08] Speaker 1: got a million excuses. But when I went back, he
[34:11] Speaker 1: wanted me to work with The Rock and The Rock
[34:13] Speaker 1: was on the way out, you know. And so Vince goes, well,
[34:17] Speaker 1: you know, Hogan, things have changed. And when you come back,
[34:20] Speaker 1: you better bring it. So respectfully, I said, well, yes, sir,
[34:24] Speaker 1: I'll bring it. You know, but in my mind, I'm going, brother,
[34:27] Speaker 1: if I bring my shit, you're going to have to
[34:28] Speaker 1: be asking me to take it back. You know? So
[34:31] Speaker 1: then I'm sitting at home and I had a little
[34:34] Speaker 1: warmup match with Rikishi here in Tampa. And my kids
[34:38] Speaker 1: were sitting at ringside. So I told Rikishi, I said,
[34:41] Speaker 1: buckle me, reverse it and charge me, you know? So boom, we, he,
[34:45] Speaker 1: you know, he reversed it. Boom. I hit the buckle
[34:47] Speaker 1: and I forgot he was coming. Cause I said, charge me.
[34:49] Speaker 1: So I looked over at my son, Nick. I was like,
[34:51] Speaker 1: and all of a sudden I get this, you know,
[34:54] Speaker 1: 380 pounds Samoan squash me. I wasn't, I didn't flex.
[34:58] Speaker 1: So I broke a couple of my ribs. Right. So
[35:01] Speaker 1: then I called Vince. I said, bro, I get broke
[35:04] Speaker 1: a couple of ribs screwing around. I said, I need
[35:06] Speaker 1: a doctor in Toronto. When I get there, he goes, Oh, well,
[35:10] Speaker 1: before you, you know, he called me monster. Well, monster
[35:12] Speaker 1: before you, Go to Toronto. I need you down in
[35:15] Speaker 1: Miami tomorrow. I said, Miami? Why Miami? Well, The Rock
[35:20] Speaker 1: wants to rehearse the match. I said, rehearse what? I've
[35:24] Speaker 1: never rehearsed anything in my life. What are you talking about? Well,
[35:26] Speaker 1: you know, we just want to make sure you can
[35:28] Speaker 1: still go. I'm like, all right. So out of respect,
[35:31] Speaker 1: I go down to Miami. They got this ring set
[35:34] Speaker 1: up in this hot-ass warehouse. And thank God The Rock's
[35:39] Speaker 1: dad was there, Rocky Johnson, who I traveled with. He's
[35:41] Speaker 1: one of my guys, you know. And Pat Patterson was there.
[35:46] Speaker 1: And so I got in the ring with The Rock
[35:48] Speaker 1: out of respect. I really hadn't seen The Rock since
[35:50] Speaker 1: I threw my headband out and he caught it when
[35:51] Speaker 1: he was a kid. That's crazy. And so now we're
[35:54] Speaker 1: in the ring and he's this major star. I got
[35:56] Speaker 1: nothing but respect for him because he's really good in
[35:59] Speaker 1: the ring. I watched him. He really has his shit together.
[36:02] Speaker 1: So we get there and all of a sudden, we're
[36:05] Speaker 1: talking about, okay, we're going to lock up. Now he's
[36:08] Speaker 1: telling me. And he's got this whole thing in his head.
[36:10] Speaker 1: We're going to lock up, go to the corner. You
[36:12] Speaker 1: go to throw a punch, I'll duck, I'll block.
[36:14] Speaker 2: I'll spit my- Wait, quickly, this is the first time
[36:18] Speaker 2: you've ever been through a rehearsal like this.
[36:21] Speaker 1: Yes, in 30 years.
[36:24] Speaker 2: It's shocking, they told me this- No, shocking's not the,
[36:26] Speaker 2: because the way he was explaining the Rikishi match before too,
[36:29] Speaker 2: he's like, I told him, throw me off the buckle
[36:31] Speaker 2: and tart, you told him in that moment.
[36:32] Speaker 5: Yes, yes, Mike, yes, they call it on the spot.
[36:35] Speaker 3: The entire match. Yeah, no, no, it's how things used
[36:37] Speaker 3: to be done, yeah?
[36:38] Speaker 5: How?
[36:38] Speaker 3: It's insane.
[36:40] Speaker 5: It's insane.
[36:40] Speaker 1: I was just leaving. It's insane. I just lead the
[36:43] Speaker 1: match where I listen to my ears and my heart.
[36:45] Speaker 1: I can hear what they want, you know. And so
[36:48] Speaker 1: at the end of the day, the Rock's saying, okay,
[36:50] Speaker 1: duck this punch, bang, bang, bang. Then get some heat
[36:52] Speaker 1: on me, shut me down. The duck's clothes on, two
[36:54] Speaker 1: drop kips over the top, pull me out. You know,
[36:57] Speaker 1: run me in the pool. And he's telling me all
[36:58] Speaker 1: this stuff. I'm like, I'm going, you got the whole
[37:02] Speaker 1: match planned out? He goes, well, no. He goes, these
[37:04] Speaker 1: are all the high spots and all the good stuff.
[37:05] Speaker 1: I said, well, what if this doesn't work? And the
[37:08] Speaker 1: people shit on it. Are we going to keep doing this?
[37:12] Speaker 1: He goes, oh, that'll be fine. Sitting in this 100-degree
[37:17] Speaker 1: warehouse is Rocky Johnson, Rockstead, going, Dwayne, listen to Hogan. Oh, man. Dwayne,
[37:23] Speaker 1: listen to Hogan. And so Pat Patterson goes, all right,
[37:27] Speaker 1: now we want you to go through the match. I said, no.
[37:31] Speaker 1: I said, if I go through this match now, I'm
[37:33] Speaker 1: going to get hurt. There's no way in hell I
[37:35] Speaker 1: can wrestle with no people. I need 50, 60, 70,000 people.
[37:39] Speaker 1: I can't wrestle.
[37:40] Speaker 3: By the way, and this is still with your ribs full.
[37:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, but I wasn't selling it, bro. You know, I
[37:44] Speaker 1: was all gimmicked up and shit. I wasn't selling that shit.
[37:47] Speaker 1: But anyway, so then we go to Toronto, right? We're
[37:51] Speaker 1: in the dressing room. And I really don't even like
[37:54] Speaker 1: to get dressed in the dressing room with the guy
[37:55] Speaker 1: I'm wrestling. You know, because I want things to be organic.
[37:59] Speaker 1: I want to be able to feel. I don't like
[38:00] Speaker 1: sitting in the dressing room with the guy. It's just
[38:03] Speaker 1: something about that. I just like my cooler full of beer.
[38:05] Speaker 1: You know, I have my few beers and stuff and
[38:08] Speaker 1: then I'm ready to go. And so... It's so old school, man.
[38:12] Speaker 5: It's so refreshing.
[38:13] Speaker 3: And that beer for him. He is a real American.
[38:16] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[38:16] Speaker 2: Like, like I don't, if you ask like who is
[38:19] Speaker 2: number one, real American, Hulk Hogan's got him.
[38:21] Speaker 1: Okay. So now I've tried to remember some of these things. Okay.
[38:27] Speaker 1: And all of a sudden I go out to the ring.
[38:30] Speaker 1: I put, I've hit the rock in the back of
[38:32] Speaker 1: the head with a hammer, a ball peen hammer. I
[38:35] Speaker 1: put him in an ambulance. I put chains around the ambulance.
[38:39] Speaker 1: I've got in a semi. I ran the ambulance over
[38:44] Speaker 1: with a semi. Vince is going, do it again. I ran,
[38:48] Speaker 1: run the ambulance over again with a semi. I thought
[38:52] Speaker 1: for sure I pissed people off. You know, I tried
[38:54] Speaker 1: to do whatever I could to get heat because I'm
[38:56] Speaker 1: Hollywood Hogan. Yeah. You know, the bad guy. You know,
[38:58] Speaker 1: Scott Hall, that bullshit. God bless you. But anyway, so
[39:03] Speaker 1: now I come out to the ring at WrestleMania 18
[39:05] Speaker 1: and they cheer like crazy. Yeah. Oh, shit. We got
[39:09] Speaker 1: a problem. Yeah. Now he comes out and they boo
[39:11] Speaker 1: the piss out of him. And so we start the match,
[39:16] Speaker 1: like you want to do, and all of a sudden,
[39:18] Speaker 1: as he's hit me, they're just booing the shit out
[39:20] Speaker 1: of him. You know, all of a sudden, thumb in
[39:23] Speaker 1: the eye, throat, whatever, I said, slow down, brother. So
[39:27] Speaker 1: I said, it takes a few minutes to get this
[39:29] Speaker 1: back on track. So I started listening, you know, and
[39:32] Speaker 1: we got it back on track. But then once we
[39:35] Speaker 1: got it on track, man, he was perfect. He pivots,
[39:39] Speaker 1: you know, and he makes the transitions. He knows placement,
[39:42] Speaker 1: the timings. you know, the balance, everything he's got is
[39:46] Speaker 1: spot on. So it was just like a pleasure to
[39:48] Speaker 1: work with him. I wish we'd have never talked, you know,
[39:51] Speaker 1: because we really didn't do any of that shit we
[39:52] Speaker 1: talked about. So, okay. So I just went, yeah. So
[39:55] Speaker 1: we just basically, and actually usually I call the match
[39:58] Speaker 1: in the ring, but he was so good. He was
[40:00] Speaker 1: talking to me too. You know, somebody is that good.
[40:02] Speaker 1: I listen, brother, you know, cause I can learn on
[40:05] Speaker 1: the spot and they're really quick, but that's how it works.
[40:07] Speaker 1: You know, you just got to, you know, you've got,
[40:10] Speaker 1: it's a, it's a, it's an art form, you know?
[40:12] Speaker 1: And once you've, It's all instinct, you know, and it's heartfelt.
[40:16] Speaker 1: And once you really figure it out and once you
[40:19] Speaker 1: get out there, then you can call your own destiny.
[40:23] Speaker 1: Then you can, you know, make your own, the right
[40:26] Speaker 1: deal for yourself. You know, once you get to that
[40:28] Speaker 1: place where you're a real attraction, sometimes you get bigger
[40:31] Speaker 1: than the company and that can be a problem.
[40:34] Speaker 5: Man, I strive to reach that level of mastery.
[40:37] Speaker 1: You got an opportunity to do that, brother, because you
[40:39] Speaker 1: should not be any type of champions, if the world's
[40:42] Speaker 1: champion at this point, you need to make that quick transition.
[40:45] Speaker 1: And if they're smart and triple H is smart, that transition,
[40:49] Speaker 1: that transition needs to be made this year.
[40:51] Speaker 4: You hear that triple H also going to Netflix as well.
[40:55] Speaker 1: Right.
[40:56] Speaker 4: And now the demos are going to overlap social media
[40:58] Speaker 4: kid combined with the, the, uh, wrestling era demographic.
[41:02] Speaker 5: And, and, and I think it could be the perfect intersection.
[41:05] Speaker 1: Um, That's what the next attraction should be.
[41:09] Speaker 5: Dude, I want to put in the work. I told him.
[41:12] Speaker 4: They call me a part-timer. That offends me, but I
[41:14] Speaker 4: get it. I'm also expensive.
[41:18] Speaker 1: You know? That's cool. You know what? How would I
[41:24] Speaker 1: put this kindly? There's... How would I say this and
[41:30] Speaker 1: not get heat on myself?
[41:33] Speaker 5: No, you got the view.
[41:34] Speaker 1: They... There's not a number they can't write a check for, brother.
[41:38] Speaker 5: No, I know that.
[41:39] Speaker 3: I know that.
[41:40] Speaker 4: But I also don't want to be greedy because it
[41:42] Speaker 4: isn't entirely about the money for me. I just want
[41:45] Speaker 4: to feel like my time is being valued.
[41:48] Speaker 5: That's all. I'm not going to write up a check
[41:51] Speaker 5: for them because I really do love it.
[41:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's cool. But they go together, man. Yeah.
[41:57] Speaker 1: They really do.
[41:58] Speaker 5: $ 5 billion Netflix deal.
[42:00] Speaker 3: I think you need an entourage like a Paul Bearer.
[42:04] Speaker 5: That's the only thing, that bloodline.
[42:06] Speaker 1: Probably needs Hulk Hogan to cut his deals for him,
[42:08] Speaker 1: wouldn't he? Yo, for real, for real.
[42:10] Speaker 5: Sorry, Jeff, you're out.
[42:11] Speaker 1: Sorry, Jeff, you're out.
[42:13] Speaker 5: But you can still hand me the brass knuckles.
[42:14] Speaker 1: No, here's the deal, bro. Triple H, Triple H is
[42:16] Speaker 1: a very smart man. He gets it. He knows what
[42:19] Speaker 1: time it is.
[42:20] Speaker 5: So I wanted to ask about the difference in leadership now.
[42:22] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[42:23] Speaker 4: Because Triple H has, you know, they're calling it, what
[42:25] Speaker 4: are they saying, the hashtag Logan Paul Levesque era, they're
[42:28] Speaker 4: calling it.
[42:29] Speaker 5: And I think that's, I think it's accurate. It's indicative
[42:32] Speaker 5: of the times.
[42:33] Speaker 4: But things have changed since Vince was around. And I
[42:36] Speaker 4: only know that because they tell me. Obviously, I was
[42:39] Speaker 4: the last superstar that Vince signed before he resigned. And
[42:45] Speaker 4: I hear how different the change in leadership is. And now,
[42:48] Speaker 4: at least, there seems to be a lot more creative
[42:52] Speaker 4: freedom for the stars to use and do what they want.
[42:59] Speaker 1: Are you.
[43:00] Speaker 5: Seeing that change, do you like it? Do you think
[43:03] Speaker 5: it's good for the business?
[43:05] Speaker 1: Well, I'm not, you know, I'm not interactive with you
[43:09] Speaker 1: guys now. I mean, you know, if I was wrestling,
[43:12] Speaker 1: I could really answer that question. But all I know is,
[43:16] Speaker 1: you know, working with Vince for all that time, now
[43:20] Speaker 1: working with Nick Khan, you know, because I signed a
[43:23] Speaker 1: five-year deal. I'm going to be 71 years old in
[43:25] Speaker 1: a few weeks, but I signed a five-year deal. for
[43:29] Speaker 1: the licensing and merchandising stuff. And like the ambassador stuff,
[43:33] Speaker 1: if they need me to do something for WrestleMania, I
[43:34] Speaker 1: just love doing it. But it's definitely different because with Vince,
[43:42] Speaker 1: hey Vince, let's do the NASCAR thing. I need six
[43:46] Speaker 1: more monster trucks. Or hey brother, I know twin referees.
[43:50] Speaker 1: Let me think about it monster. Vince would kind of like,
[43:55] Speaker 1: I'd sit in a room with him. It was just
[43:57] Speaker 1: him and I, working a year backwards storyline wise. And
[44:01] Speaker 1: I said, well, what about the six month period? If
[44:03] Speaker 1: I put the belt on Piper, let me think about it.
[44:06] Speaker 1: He would do this and stare like this for like
[44:10] Speaker 1: an hour and not say a word to me. I just,
[44:12] Speaker 1: you know, and he was soul searching and thinking about it,
[44:14] Speaker 1: thinking about the final decision. And I just remember working
[44:18] Speaker 1: with him, you know, I could go back and forth
[44:21] Speaker 1: with him and we'd agree to disagree. But most of
[44:23] Speaker 1: the time, you know, he, I said, Vince, I feel it, bro.
[44:26] Speaker 1: You're not out there. But then he eventually did get
[44:29] Speaker 1: out there. But what I feel with the leadership is
[44:32] Speaker 1: working with Nick Kahn now, he's more, for me, just
[44:37] Speaker 1: business cut and dry. He doesn't overthink the creative. And
[44:40] Speaker 1: I don't deal with the creative too much unless I
[44:43] Speaker 1: talk to Bruce Prichard or something. They ask me a
[44:45] Speaker 1: question about a finish or something like that. I really
[44:47] Speaker 1: don't get involved too much. But just working with the
[44:50] Speaker 1: two different heads of state, if you could call it that,
[44:53] Speaker 1: Nick Kahn is just strictly business. So I said, hey, brother,
[44:57] Speaker 1: you know, this artwork that hasn't been used for 35 years.
[45:00] Speaker 1: I need it for my real American beer. And so
[45:03] Speaker 1: Nick Kong goes, let me get back to you in
[45:05] Speaker 1: a couple of days. Okay, fine. No rush. So when
[45:07] Speaker 1: he calls me back, you know, we talked and all
[45:10] Speaker 1: of a sudden, you know, he goes, well, you know,
[45:12] Speaker 1: you can use the artwork, this and that and the other,
[45:14] Speaker 1: but you know, I need, I don't want to say
[45:16] Speaker 1: the number, but I need X amount of percentage of
[45:18] Speaker 1: every million bucks you make. I said, well, you know,
[45:21] Speaker 1: instead of me, you know, paying you guys, hundreds and
[45:25] Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of dollars and potentially millions of dollars.
[45:29] Speaker 1: I can go out for 300 bucks and they can have,
[45:31] Speaker 1: you know, someone do this artwork again, reasonably similar, maybe
[45:34] Speaker 1: even reasonably confusing, but you know, but I wouldn't do that.
[45:37] Speaker 1: I'd do something a little different. Then Nick goes, Oh,
[45:40] Speaker 1: you know, let me just gift it to you. I said, good.
[45:42] Speaker 1: Cause we're on the same team, brother. We're on the
[45:44] Speaker 1: same team. So Nick was really cool. It was just
[45:46] Speaker 1: sitting down and talking with him and he made it
[45:49] Speaker 1: really easy on me, you know, and, And Vince was
[45:52] Speaker 1: great too, but I just don't know if Vince would
[45:53] Speaker 1: make that quick of a decision, especially when I pulled
[45:56] Speaker 1: up short and was, hold on, brother. I'm asking for
[45:59] Speaker 1: a caricature. It's just some simple-ass artwork. Nick got it
[46:02] Speaker 1: and knew that I could have something else drawn up
[46:05] Speaker 1: the next day. But he's been very easy and supportive
[46:10] Speaker 1: and helpful. And when he came up to me the
[46:13] Speaker 1: first time I met him with his wife and kids,
[46:16] Speaker 1: this whole rep was, oh, my God, I've been a
[46:18] Speaker 1: Hulkamaniac all my life. I grew up watching and I
[46:22] Speaker 1: said to his wife, how do you put up with this?
[46:24] Speaker 1: She goes, all he does is talk about Hulkamania and
[46:27] Speaker 1: Hulk Hogan, shows our kids the matches. So he gets it,
[46:30] Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? So I'm on the team
[46:32] Speaker 1: and I just wanted them to know that they have
[46:35] Speaker 1: my support, especially for guys like this and the new
[46:37] Speaker 1: guys that are coming in, man. When I see a talent, man,
[46:41] Speaker 1: I get in his ear about it.
[46:44] Speaker 2: When you go to the headquarters nowadays, and you see
[46:48] Speaker 2: all these like people in suits walking around and they're
[46:51] Speaker 2: putting food in the microwave and it's like 15 story headquarters.
[46:54] Speaker 2: You go to a match, the guys finish up and
[46:56] Speaker 2: they leave and they put those big leg sleeves on
[46:58] Speaker 2: and they hang out and do stem cells and shit.
[47:01] Speaker 3: Do you ever think like, it'll just never be the
[47:04] Speaker 3: same as it was?
[47:06] Speaker 2: Dude, me and you know, the boys sit in the
[47:08] Speaker 2: office planning soul search and going out cracking beers, no
[47:12] Speaker 2: corporate bullshit.
[47:13] Speaker 3: Do you ever yearn for the old days?
[47:16] Speaker 1: Well, I had my time, brother. I wouldn't want to
[47:18] Speaker 1: relive them because it was a rough run. It was
[47:25] Speaker 1: crazy because when I was wrestling, I'd go like the
[47:28] Speaker 1: Philadelphia Spectrum. I'd go to wrestle Piper and Vince would go, hey, Terry,
[47:32] Speaker 1: tell Piper we need to get about 20 minutes in.
[47:34] Speaker 1: You need to drop the leg, one, two, three. But
[47:36] Speaker 1: then after you drop the leg and he leaves the ring,
[47:38] Speaker 1: as you're doing your posing and you're doing your stuff,
[47:41] Speaker 1: holding the belt, I want him to circle back, drop you,
[47:45] Speaker 1: get some heat, get some major color, because we're going
[47:48] Speaker 1: to come back in a lumberjack match, then we go
[47:50] Speaker 1: to finish for that, then we're going to come back
[47:51] Speaker 1: in a steel cage match, you know, in three or
[47:53] Speaker 1: four in a row. So I tell Piper, hey, you know,
[47:57] Speaker 1: I was just talking to Vince. He wants me to
[47:58] Speaker 1: drop the leg. He goes, fuck, no, I'm not putting
[47:59] Speaker 1: you over. I said, okay, well, that's how it was
[48:04] Speaker 1: back then. I said, well, here's the deal, brother, you know.
[48:09] Speaker 1: It's okay. We can figure something out for tonight. but
[48:11] Speaker 1: Vince was going to go with you and I two,
[48:13] Speaker 1: three times, you know, and you know, we're going to
[48:15] Speaker 1: make some serious bread, but that's okay, bro. I got
[48:17] Speaker 1: other people I can work with, you know, and you
[48:19] Speaker 1: go work with somebody else, you know? And so that's
[48:24] Speaker 1: how it was even back in the day, you know,
[48:26] Speaker 1: Paul Orndorff was another one, never wanted to put anybody over,
[48:29] Speaker 1: you know, as a baby face, they told me, don't
[48:33] Speaker 1: even go down to a knee, you know, this Hulk,
[48:35] Speaker 1: I mean, anything was so big, but then when I
[48:37] Speaker 1: turned heel, you know, it was easy. You could beat
[48:39] Speaker 1: me every night. It wouldn't matter. You know, I could lie, lie,
[48:42] Speaker 1: cheat and steal, but it was different back then. At
[48:45] Speaker 1: the end of the day, you know, I got over
[48:48] Speaker 1: because all the guys, you know, supported me and put
[48:52] Speaker 1: me over and stuff like that. And I mean, it's
[48:57] Speaker 1: good now that they've got the, you know, the squirrels
[49:00] Speaker 1: under control, you know, instead of them running wild, at
[49:03] Speaker 1: least when they tell you to finish, there's these guaranteed contracts,
[49:07] Speaker 1: which they didn't have back in the day. You know,
[49:08] Speaker 1: if you got hurt, you didn't make any money. And
[49:11] Speaker 1: so I think it's a little easier now. But, you know,
[49:14] Speaker 1: watching what you're doing, you have a certain air about you.
[49:20] Speaker 1: that you're a really good heel naturally and what is
[49:25] Speaker 1: so cool you're gonna make one of the best baby
[49:27] Speaker 1: faces ever when they turn you because the more heat
[49:30] Speaker 1: you get and the more hate you that hate you
[49:33] Speaker 1: you're gonna be an awesome baby face for instance bloodline
[49:37] Speaker 1: now they're starting to cheer for Roman Just a quick
[49:40] Speaker 1: thought off the top of my head. Roman comes back,
[49:42] Speaker 1: they bloodline grounds this shit up and beats him like
[49:45] Speaker 1: a dog and he hits the ring to save Roman.
[49:48] Speaker 1: It would get him over, bam.
[49:50] Speaker 3: Instantly babyface.
[49:53] Speaker 1: It would be Hulk Hogan babyface personified.
[49:56] Speaker 2: Well, here's the only difference I want to ask you
[49:58] Speaker 2: about this. I don't know if this has ever really
[50:02] Speaker 2: truly existed before.
[50:03] Speaker 1: I'll drink to that.
[50:05] Speaker 3: He's the only person that's ever.
[50:10] Speaker 2: He's the only person that's ever been hated prior to,
[50:14] Speaker 2: to creating his character.
[50:17] Speaker 1: In the WWE.
[50:19] Speaker 2: So that's my question to you is like, is it
[50:22] Speaker 2: as easy to switch someone who has a blended real
[50:25] Speaker 2: life with WWE life into a person that is loved
[50:29] Speaker 2: by all when he's not been able to do that
[50:32] Speaker 2: outside of the ring?
[50:34] Speaker 3: Does that make sense?
[50:35] Speaker 1: Yes.
[50:35] Speaker 3: I love him.
[50:36] Speaker 1: For instance.
[50:37] Speaker 3: But I'm in the fucking minority.
[50:39] Speaker 1: That's the 5%.
[50:39] Speaker 3: There's a couple more over there.
[50:41] Speaker 1: It's my mom. Oh, that's mama. Yeah.
[50:44] Speaker 5: She goes, she loves me as far as I know.
[50:46] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, but it's, it's, uh, the wrestling fans are
[50:50] Speaker 1: very forgiving. You know, um, if Chris been walking and
[50:53] Speaker 1: do the crap he did and the fans still love him,
[50:55] Speaker 1: you know, they're very forgiving. You know, I've, I've made
[50:58] Speaker 1: some major mistakes in my personal life and they're very,
[51:01] Speaker 1: very forgiving, but they forgive you. But, um, a situation
[51:05] Speaker 1: like this with him, For instance, if I just wanted
[51:10] Speaker 1: to open Monday Night Raw, and all of a sudden
[51:11] Speaker 1: Brock Lesnar's music started, and Brock Lesnar's going to be
[51:14] Speaker 1: a babyface too. What's to say, I don't know who
[51:16] Speaker 1: the bad guys are now. I don't know all of them,
[51:18] Speaker 1: but whoever the number one bad guy is. Yeah, maybe.
[51:22] Speaker 1: Who's the number one bad guy?
[51:23] Speaker 5: Probably Dominic, or Solo, Solo, Sokoa.
[51:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Just like if the Bloodline came out, and
[51:31] Speaker 1: you got the old man standing in the little ring going,
[51:33] Speaker 1: hey brother, welcome to Monday Night Raw, or whatever I'm doing.
[51:36] Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, they came out and just
[51:38] Speaker 1: grounded the piss out of me and pulled the rag
[51:40] Speaker 1: off my bald head and started shaving my mustache off.
[51:43] Speaker 1: He came and hit the ring. He got the rub,
[51:46] Speaker 1: the red and yellow rub. Done. Doesn't matter where he's been,
[51:52] Speaker 1: what he's done. It's all about getting the right rub
[51:55] Speaker 1: at the right time. It's all a timing thing. So,
[51:58] Speaker 1: you know, I can't wait to see him turn your
[52:00] Speaker 1: baby face. It's going to be great, but not yet. Yeah,
[52:03] Speaker 1: I don't know. I have no interest in doing that. No, yeah.
[52:06] Speaker 5: I think being a heel is fucking awesome.
[52:09] Speaker 1: But you got to realize, bro, this is not a work, okay?
[52:13] Speaker 1: This is a shoot. What? The business is a shoot.
[52:16] Speaker 1: Everybody's going to tell you it's a work. It's not
[52:18] Speaker 1: a work.
[52:18] Speaker 5: What do you mean?
[52:19] Speaker 1: The business is a shoot.
[52:20] Speaker 5: I don't know if I understand the terms.
[52:21] Speaker 1: If I wrestle you right now and Vince pays you
[52:24] Speaker 1: a million bucks and he pays me five million, is
[52:27] Speaker 1: that a work or a shoot?
[52:28] Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't think I know the terms.
[52:30] Speaker 3: Let him explain it.
[52:31] Speaker 1: Oh, you don't know the terms? A shoot. What is
[52:32] Speaker 1: a shoot?
[52:33] Speaker 5: I know a work.
[52:33] Speaker 1: What is a shoot? Come on. You're bullshitting.
[52:39] Speaker 5: Me.
[52:39] Speaker 1: He's not. He's serious.
[52:41] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm fucking with you.
[52:43] Speaker 1: Okay. Thank you.
[52:45] Speaker 3: No, he's not.
[52:48] Speaker 5: No, he's not.
[52:49] Speaker 1: He's not. You're embarrassing.
[52:52] Speaker 3: Okay, that's fine. How about this? Can you explain it
[52:55] Speaker 3: to our audience at home quickly that doesn't understand?
[52:58] Speaker 1: I blew it. Shut up.
[53:00] Speaker 3: He's gonna explain to the audience.
[53:01] Speaker 5: No, no, stop, stop.
[53:02] Speaker 3: Logan knows what it means.
[53:04] Speaker 1: No, no, no.
[53:04] Speaker 3: Logan knows what it means, but maybe just explain to
[53:06] Speaker 3: our audience at home quick.
[53:08] Speaker 1: Brother, come over here. You, come here.
[53:10] Speaker 5: Kevin? Sit right here.
[53:13] Speaker 1: Sit right here. Pleasure, sir. Good to see you. Good
[53:16] Speaker 1: to see you. Okay, if we're here, face me. I'm
[53:17] Speaker 1: not getting up. I'm too tired to get up. If
[53:19] Speaker 1: you're here and I was to grab a top wrist
[53:21] Speaker 1: lock on you like this, okay? No, no, that's a work.
[53:24] Speaker 5: If I go through here, It actually hurts. Oh, you're
[53:28] Speaker 5: going to kill Kevin.
[53:28] Speaker 1: No, I can break your arm.
[53:30] Speaker 3: About to turn him into carne asada.
[53:32] Speaker 1: Come here. If I grab the headlock on you and
[53:35] Speaker 1: I grab the headlock like this, that's a work. If
[53:38] Speaker 1: I grab it like this, I put that bone against
[53:40] Speaker 1: your head.
[53:41] Speaker 2: Oh.
[53:41] Speaker 1: You know, that's a shoot. Okay, see ya. No. But no,
[53:48] Speaker 1: the working shoot is when you're working together.
[53:50] Speaker 5: I see.
[53:50] Speaker 1: You know, or when you're doing something for real. Bro,
[53:53] Speaker 1: if I'm making more money than you, that's for real.
[53:55] Speaker 1: If I'm a baby face and my merchandise is selling
[53:58] Speaker 1: more than yours, that's a shoot. So this business back
[54:01] Speaker 1: in the day used to be about the money and
[54:03] Speaker 1: the miles. It's how far you travel for how much
[54:05] Speaker 1: money you make. But at the end of the day,
[54:08] Speaker 1: if I'm like, you know, WrestleMania 3, God bless his soul, Andre,
[54:12] Speaker 1: I made a lot more money than him. You know,
[54:15] Speaker 1: thank God he never found out. But that's a shoot, bro.
[54:19] Speaker 1: If somebody's making more money than me, I'm not going
[54:22] Speaker 1: to go, okay, it doesn't matter if I'm a heel
[54:24] Speaker 1: and I make less money. That's a lot of work
[54:25] Speaker 1: to me. That's a shoot. I see. You and I
[54:27] Speaker 1: are in the ring, and we're fighting, and we're driving
[54:29] Speaker 1: the same amount of miles, and we're busting our ass
[54:32] Speaker 1: and breaking our sweat and getting hurt in that ring,
[54:34] Speaker 1: and you make more money than me? That's a shoot
[54:36] Speaker 1: to me, man. I don't care if I'm a babyface
[54:39] Speaker 1: or a good guy. It's a work. No, it's not
[54:42] Speaker 1: a work. If someone makes more money than you, to me,
[54:45] Speaker 1: that's a shoot.
[54:46] Speaker 3: But isn't that, then isn't it always a shoot?
[54:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you. That's what I keep saying. And, you know,
[54:50] Speaker 1: just because we're working in the ring, but the business
[54:53] Speaker 1: is a shoot. This is about making money.
[54:54] Speaker 3: Right.
[54:55] Speaker 1: You know, so for me, I've always looked at it
[54:57] Speaker 1: that way. And when I worked for Vince Sr., he
[55:01] Speaker 1: always paid the champion more than the guy he was wrestling.
[55:05] Speaker 1: So all of a sudden, when Vince Sr. passed the
[55:07] Speaker 1: torch to Vince, and all of a sudden, you know,
[55:11] Speaker 1: my first check at the Garden was some crazy check,
[55:14] Speaker 1: you know, and I beat the Iron Sheik. The next month,
[55:17] Speaker 1: you know, when Vince Jr. was running, my check was
[55:20] Speaker 1: nowhere near what my first check was. I said, oh, bro,
[55:22] Speaker 1: that doesn't work for me. You know, so I kept
[55:25] Speaker 1: trying to keep things going as long as I could
[55:28] Speaker 1: with Vince Sr. 's theme. But at the end of
[55:30] Speaker 1: the day, for me, the business has always been a
[55:33] Speaker 1: shoot because if someone makes more money than me, that's
[55:35] Speaker 1: a shoot to me. You know, I just can't go,
[55:38] Speaker 1: it's a work. It doesn't matter if, His merchandise sells
[55:40] Speaker 1: 10 times as much as mine. It's a work. You
[55:44] Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Yeah. So when you turn baby face,
[55:46] Speaker 1: watch what happens. Watch how your stuff blows through the roof.
[55:49] Speaker 4: I mean, I'm going to be a girl dad and
[55:52] Speaker 4: we have a couple pretty intimate pieces of programming coming out.
[56:00] Speaker 5: Some big announcements.
[56:01] Speaker 4: And I think people are going to get an inside
[56:03] Speaker 4: scoop at like my, my real life that I've never
[56:05] Speaker 4: shown before my family life. And since I'm, I'm not
[56:09] Speaker 4: really playing a character in the WWE. I'm just amplifying
[56:12] Speaker 4: the worst part of myself, which does exist.
[56:15] Speaker 5: But it is weird because they know me.
[56:19] Speaker 4: And this audience, they know me. And then the WWE,
[56:24] Speaker 4: here I am being a dickhead. And I find the
[56:28] Speaker 4: older I get, a couple of daughters. I'm sure I'm
[56:31] Speaker 4: going to have all daughters.
[56:33] Speaker 5: I'm going to get softer.
[56:35] Speaker 4: I wonder how much I'm going to be okay with
[56:40] Speaker 4: being like dislikable or unlikable.
[56:44] Speaker 5: Like, I don't know.
[56:46] Speaker 1: It's going to change.
[56:47] Speaker 5: It is going to change. It's going to change.
[56:50] Speaker 1: As evil as you can get. I mean, the worst,
[56:53] Speaker 1: nastiest heel in the business is always the best baby face.
[56:58] Speaker 1: So just keep doing your thing. And when they switch you, bro,
[57:00] Speaker 1: it's going to be just insane.
[57:02] Speaker 5: I'm so excited for Roman to come back.
[57:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, bro. They're already turning babyface. They haven't done anything.
[57:07] Speaker 5: They are.
[57:08] Speaker 3: Man, this show is a shoot for me, bro.
[57:11] Speaker 6: You make way more money than I do. Uh-oh, yo, hey, yo.
[57:17] Speaker 6: I finally realized it. Bro, you're getting pumped out, man. Dude,
[57:20] Speaker 6: this is a shoot, bro.
[57:22] Speaker 1: It is.
[57:22] Speaker 5: I guess it is.
[57:23] Speaker 1: It is a shoot. It's unreal, dude. Well, then, if
[57:26] Speaker 1: you want to get paid like him, you need to
[57:27] Speaker 1: get your ass in the ring, man, you know?
[57:29] Speaker 3: Hell no.
[57:30] Speaker 1: He was, he was.
[57:30] Speaker 5: He got his ass beat by the Usos.
[57:32] Speaker 1: Oh, I did, I did.
[57:32] Speaker 3: I jumped in in Saudi Arabia. The Usos smoked him.
[57:34] Speaker 3: I got the crap kicked out of me, dude. I
[57:36] Speaker 3: took one bump, and I was like, nah, I don't
[57:38] Speaker 3: think I can do it. I want to do like
[57:39] Speaker 3: a Heyman or like a Paul Bearer. Just walk around
[57:42] Speaker 3: behind him with the belt.
[57:43] Speaker 1: What most people don't understand is how forgiving this business is, man.
[57:47] Speaker 1: I mean, you get hurt in there all the time. Unforgiving. Unforgiving. No, no, no. Yeah,
[57:52] Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Totally unforgiving.
[57:54] Speaker 5: One of the first things I learned, this shit hurts
[57:56] Speaker 5: so bad.
[57:57] Speaker 1: It all hurts. We've had football, over the years, football
[58:00] Speaker 1: players trying to come in. Bill Fralick was great. Mongo
[58:03] Speaker 1: McMichaels made it. We've had several guys come in, Refrigerator Perry,
[58:07] Speaker 1: all of them. They just in and out. Had all
[58:09] Speaker 1: kind of UFC guys come in. I don't want to
[58:11] Speaker 1: drop names. They had a bunch of UFC guys come in.
[58:14] Speaker 1: After a day or two, they're going, screw this.
[58:16] Speaker 3: The Usos told me, they're like, don't worry about it.
[58:18] Speaker 3: The adrenaline will take care of all of it.
[58:20] Speaker 1: And it did for a few minutes.
[58:23] Speaker 2: But then later that night, I was like, damn, dude,
[58:25] Speaker 2: that fucking hurt.
[58:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Brock Lesnar adapted real well. Benjamin Shelton,
[58:31] Speaker 1: a lot of guys, Kurt Angle.
[58:34] Speaker 5: It's a lot about navigating pain.
[58:36] Speaker 1: I think I realized.
[58:37] Speaker 5: Mentality.
[58:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, both mental and, but honestly, probably just physical. If
[58:42] Speaker 4: you have a high physical pain threshold, I think you'll
[58:46] Speaker 4: be a little bit better off.
[58:47] Speaker 1: Right.
[58:48] Speaker 5: Because you're going to get rocked, man.
[58:49] Speaker 3: That's why Trump was so good.
[58:51] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[58:52] Speaker 3: He gets shot and keeps going, dude.
[58:55] Speaker 1: Unreal. Insane. Yeah, he's tripping, man.
[58:59] Speaker 5: Did you see his ear, by chance?
[59:00] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[59:01] Speaker 5: Is there a piece missing? Oh, no, I didn't see
[59:03] Speaker 5: it that way.
[59:03] Speaker 1: No, because it's covered.
[59:05] Speaker 4: Well, I know, but I thought maybe like I would
[59:07] Speaker 4: definitely want to ask him.
[59:08] Speaker 2: No.
[59:09] Speaker 4: I'm just so curious because, like, if he's missing a
[59:12] Speaker 4: piece of his ear, like on some Evander Holyfield shit.
[59:15] Speaker 2: I don't think he is because I don't think he
[59:19] Speaker 2: even got stitches.
[59:21] Speaker 5: Then where did the blood come from?
[59:22] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[59:23] Speaker 2: I know we weren't going to talk about it a
[59:24] Speaker 2: lot on this episode, but, like, man, if you– If
[59:28] Speaker 2: you really pulled just a graze off of that shot, dude, like,
[59:31] Speaker 2: God is favoring you, dude.
[59:33] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[59:33] Speaker 3: Because that's, yeah.
[59:35] Speaker 1: I'm going to ask him to see it. We'll probably
[59:37] Speaker 1: see him next week down at Palm Beach. Please, please.
[59:39] Speaker 1: So I'm going to ask him to see it. I'm
[59:40] Speaker 1: going to take a picture of the damn thing.
[59:41] Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure. I tried to get the hat that
[59:45] Speaker 5: he was wearing.
[59:45] Speaker 1: Oh, really? I'm a collector.
[59:46] Speaker 4: So the first question I asked to his team was like,
[59:50] Speaker 4: glad he's alive.
[59:50] Speaker 5: Where's the hat? Who has the hat? I offered over
[59:56] Speaker 5: $ 2 million for it.
[59:57] Speaker 1: No shit.
[59:58] Speaker 5: I believe it's the most important artifact in American history.
[1:00:01] Speaker 1: Yes.
[1:00:02] Speaker 3: That hat.
[1:00:03] Speaker 5: I bet it has his blood on it.
[1:00:04] Speaker 1: Wow.
[1:00:05] Speaker 3: Well, the car JFK was in would probably be up there.
[1:00:07] Speaker 1: It's true.
[1:00:09] Speaker 5: It's not as easy to put in a display case.
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: I got something. I just get something crazy at home.
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: I got a pair of yellow boots that have Andre
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: the Giant's blood on them.
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
[1:00:17] Speaker 1: Can you imagine cloning that big, bro?
[1:00:19] Speaker 3: Cloning him.
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: Let's clone him.
[1:00:21] Speaker 5: We probably could.
[1:00:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be crazy, right?
[1:00:24] Speaker 3: Are you into collectibles?
[1:00:26] Speaker 1: Not really, bro. I mean, I gave away so much stuff.
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: You know, like when I was the champion, we used
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: to do a lot of promos, a lot more than
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: they do now. So if I was coming to the
[1:00:39] Speaker 1: Capitol Center in Washington, I'd do four or five promos,
[1:00:42] Speaker 1: three-minute promos. Four weeks from now, brother, I'll be at
[1:00:44] Speaker 1: the Capitol Center. Three weeks from now, I'm training. I'm
[1:00:47] Speaker 1: hanging off the Washington Memorial. Two weeks from now, you
[1:00:50] Speaker 1: know what? I was just training with Bill Clinton, and
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: you know what? We took that blue dress, and we
[1:00:54] Speaker 1: had a picnic, you know what I mean? to, you know,
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: one week from now and tonight's the night. So I
[1:00:58] Speaker 1: do all these promos and I would sit in a
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: room with me and Gene for like four or five hours.
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: And I just bang one after another, one after another,
[1:01:06] Speaker 1: because when you tell stories every week, you know, and
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: you get the asses in seats, then you walk out
[1:01:12] Speaker 1: there and just pick your money up. That's easy. You
[1:01:14] Speaker 1: just got to fill those buildings. So I used to
[1:01:16] Speaker 1: go through those title belts, you know, like every, every
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: three or four weeks, you know, I just sweat through them,
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: you know? And so, uh, It was, what was I
[1:01:25] Speaker 1: talking about again?
[1:01:26] Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know, because this keeps happening to me
[1:01:28] Speaker 5: as well. Well, it's early.
[1:01:29] Speaker 3: We had a long night last night.
[1:01:30] Speaker 1: What the hell was I talking about?
[1:01:31] Speaker 5: I'm even surprised we're all here.
[1:01:33] Speaker 1: You're not even listening.
[1:01:34] Speaker 3: Can I ask you, can I ask one more question?
[1:01:36] Speaker 1: Yeah. Is there anybody- What was I talking about?
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: Oh, collectibles.
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: No, I don't. But, no, but I gave all my
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: stuff away. And I used to get these belts like
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: every month Vince would have to make me an adult. Right, right, right.
[1:01:49] Speaker 1: I would sweat through the leather. My yellow tights would
[1:01:51] Speaker 1: get brown and. I was just, I was staying. So,
[1:01:54] Speaker 1: and what, so I was giving them away from motorcycles
[1:01:56] Speaker 1: and cars and my friends, you know, just give them away.
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: You know, it's like I gave one to some guy
[1:02:01] Speaker 1: at Harley Davis and he gave me 10 motorcycles, you know?
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: And so just, it was crazy back then.
[1:02:06] Speaker 2: I can't even imagine. I cannot even imagine the things
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: that you've seen. Is there anybody that you haven't met? Cause,
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: cause you've, I'm sure you've met, shook hands, partied with everybody.
[1:02:16] Speaker 2: Is there anybody that you haven't met that you always
[1:02:18] Speaker 2: wanted to? Like, do you have, do you have any, like,
[1:02:22] Speaker 2: people that you look at, rock stars, idols?
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: Probably the one guy that I really wanted to meet,
[1:02:27] Speaker 1: actually there were two. One guy I wanted to meet
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: was Elvis. But when I started wrestling in Memphis, he
[1:02:33] Speaker 1: used to ride a Harley and put a helmet on
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: at night. He'd go out at night and ride his
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: Harley around. And then he'd come to the Mid-South Coliseum
[1:02:40] Speaker 1: and sit way up in the top of the building
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: and watch wrestling. And I came along, went through Memphis
[1:02:46] Speaker 1: right after he passed away. I said, damn, if I
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: had a Came here sooner because I was wrestling in
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: North Florida, Pensacola, and they were trying to get me
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: to come to Memphis because when I was young, I
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: had a look to me. I was really big. I
[1:02:58] Speaker 1: was about 80 pounds heavier than I am now and taller,
[1:03:01] Speaker 1: so I had this look. Even though I was green,
[1:03:03] Speaker 1: they still put me in all the main events. And
[1:03:05] Speaker 1: when they told me Elvis was up there all the time,
[1:03:08] Speaker 1: I said, oh, I wish I'd have met him.
[1:03:10] Speaker 2: Hulk Hogan times Elvis is potentially the most American collaboration
[1:03:15] Speaker 2: that could ever exist. There's literally no one you could plug.
[1:03:19] Speaker 3: Into either spot.
[1:03:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, and the other guy I really wanted to meet
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: was John Wayne. And of course he died way before
[1:03:25] Speaker 1: I was old enough to make a move, but I
[1:03:27] Speaker 1: bought his limo, John Wayne's limo. That's sick. You did? Yeah,
[1:03:32] Speaker 1: so that was kind of cool.
[1:03:35] Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you just kind of talking about
[1:03:36] Speaker 5: something earlier.
[1:03:37] Speaker 4: When you were working with The Rock and you met
[1:03:39] Speaker 4: him for that first time in that warehouse and you
[1:03:41] Speaker 4: kind of caught his vibe, could you tell that Dwayne
[1:03:46] Speaker 4: Johnson was a star?
[1:03:48] Speaker 1: Oh, God, yes, brother. Oh, my God, yeah.
[1:03:51] Speaker 5: He had that aura.
[1:03:52] Speaker 1: Oh, he had the it factor, bro. I mean, you
[1:03:53] Speaker 1: either have it or you don't. You got it. Are
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: you sure? I'm positive you've got it. You had the
[1:03:58] Speaker 1: it factor, brother. You have. No, I'm serious. I'm not joking.
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: You really do. Your brother's got it, too.
[1:04:06] Speaker 4: I think he has it more than me. Dude, if
[1:04:10] Speaker 4: Jake had my athletic ability.
[1:04:13] Speaker 5: He would be such a good wrestler.
[1:04:16] Speaker 3: Too big of calves.
[1:04:17] Speaker 4: Just the way he talks and even just looks that big,
[1:04:21] Speaker 4: thick beard.
[1:04:21] Speaker 3: I don't know if you saw it the other day.
[1:04:23] Speaker 5: With Mike Perry. Him and Mike Perry. I'm going to
[1:04:25] Speaker 5: tell you what, brother.
[1:04:27] Speaker 3: Going back and forth. That's actually a good point that
[1:04:30] Speaker 3: you say that.
[1:04:31] Speaker 2: He might be better at the promo side than you are.
[1:04:34] Speaker 1: He totally is.
[1:04:35] Speaker 3: But you're just way more athletic.
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: He can't do the stuff.
[1:04:38] Speaker 3: Maybe a clone of you. Some sort of hybrid clone
[1:04:40] Speaker 3: of you two.
[1:04:41] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:04:42] Speaker 3: With Andre the Giant.
[1:04:42] Speaker 5: I'll tell you what. I got a move named after you.
[1:04:46] Speaker 1: No way. Inspired by you.
[1:04:49] Speaker 5: It's called the Hulk Logan.
[1:04:50] Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, yeah. I do the ear.
[1:04:54] Speaker 4: I run off the ropes and I do a split
[1:04:57] Speaker 4: because I'm pretty flexible and I bring my leg way
[1:04:59] Speaker 4: up and just.
[1:05:00] Speaker 5: Land on the dude and then I flex while I'm
[1:05:01] Speaker 5: on top of him.
[1:05:02] Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome.
[1:05:03] Speaker 5: Yeah, I've never pinned anyone with it. It's more for,
[1:05:05] Speaker 5: it's kind of flashy. Mad disrespectful. Just balls in the chest.
[1:05:09] Speaker 5: Balls in the chest.
[1:05:09] Speaker 1: There you go.
[1:05:10] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:05:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, but The Rock, bro, we're talking about him. He's, he's,
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: he had the it factor and in the ring, man,
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: I don't know what it was about that guy, bro,
[1:05:18] Speaker 1: but he's, you know, I'm not trying to kiss your ass,
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: but Instinct. You guys have instinct, and that's what he had.
[1:05:25] Speaker 1: A lot of guys, and I don't want to drop names,
[1:05:28] Speaker 1: but a lot of guys have been in the wrestling
[1:05:29] Speaker 1: business 25, 30 years. They're friends of mine. They never
[1:05:32] Speaker 1: figure it out. They think they're superstars. They made a
[1:05:36] Speaker 1: certain amount of money, but they never figured the art
[1:05:39] Speaker 1: form out. They still talk. I mean, I walk into catering,
[1:05:43] Speaker 1: and they'll be talking to the guy they're going to
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: wrestle for two hours, and they've got a seven-minute match.
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: What the fuck are you talking about for two hours
[1:05:50] Speaker 1: in here? You know, they made me, Bo was with me.
[1:05:52] Speaker 1: They made me rehearse at the Republican National Convention. They
[1:05:56] Speaker 1: screwed me up so bad I almost couldn't talk. Yeah.
[1:05:58] Speaker 1: Because they made me go in a back room with
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: a plexiglass podium and a teleprompter in front of me
[1:06:03] Speaker 1: on each side of the stage. And the lady was
[1:06:06] Speaker 1: really nice, the stage manager. There must have been 20
[1:06:09] Speaker 1: people in the room. And they wanted me to read
[1:06:11] Speaker 1: this copy. And I'm like, I don't even speak like this. Yeah, yeah.
[1:06:14] Speaker 1: You know, and I got to the point where I
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: started getting self-conscious and I think they thought I was
[1:06:19] Speaker 1: going to shit the bed. I was so bad. And
[1:06:22] Speaker 1: then my wife saw me, I went in the back
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: room and there was a band playing. So I just
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: get into the music. I just got away from everybody.
[1:06:30] Speaker 1: I needed about five minutes to get in the zone.
[1:06:31] Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, brother, let's go.
[1:06:35] Speaker 1: And once I got there, I was like, good. And
[1:06:38] Speaker 1: then once I did my thing, it was cool. But
[1:06:41] Speaker 1: you know, I'm just glad they didn't pull me off
[1:06:43] Speaker 1: the stage because I wasn't reading the teleprompter.
[1:06:45] Speaker 3: You hate rehearsals. Oh, fuck, dude, I hate rehearsals.
[1:06:49] Speaker 1: Dude, when I was working with Vince, they had me
[1:06:54] Speaker 1: open the show a lot. So, you know, I'd be
[1:06:55] Speaker 1: standing there with the curtains. Then the music would start
[1:06:59] Speaker 1: real American. All of a sudden, a writer would come
[1:07:02] Speaker 1: up to me and hand me a stack of pages
[1:07:03] Speaker 1: like this that were hot. The paper still had it.
[1:07:06] Speaker 1: I looked at Vince. I'm like, really? I just throw
[1:07:08] Speaker 1: the paper in there and just walk out, you know?
[1:07:10] Speaker 5: Well, he trusted you.
[1:07:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, he just knew.
[1:07:14] Speaker 4: Well, I mean, these days, I think especially with all
[1:07:16] Speaker 4: the corporate guidelines and commercial.
[1:07:19] Speaker 5: Bullshit, they want to know what to expect.
[1:07:22] Speaker 4: And I don't know how many people they trust to
[1:07:24] Speaker 4: go out there and not say something you're not supposed
[1:07:26] Speaker 4: to that would turn off a sponsor or something.
[1:07:29] Speaker 5: Publicly traded company as well.
[1:07:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
[1:07:31] Speaker 5: You got to answer to people.
[1:07:34] Speaker 3: Real corporate shit.
[1:07:35] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's super corporate. You mentioned it. Suits like walking around.
[1:07:39] Speaker 5: But at the same time, though.
[1:07:42] Speaker 3: It's like not still.
[1:07:44] Speaker 5: It's not a union.
[1:07:47] Speaker 3: It's still got that core.
[1:07:49] Speaker 5: Yeah, and I can feel it. I definitely prefer. I
[1:07:53] Speaker 5: thrive in those environments. Were you at WrestleMania 40?
[1:07:56] Speaker 1: Who wrestled? No.
[1:07:59] Speaker 5: This was Cody Roman.
[1:08:00] Speaker 1: No, I wasn't there. Did you watch it? Yeah.
[1:08:04] Speaker 5: Some people are saying it's the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
[1:08:08] Speaker 1: They probably weren't alive when I was wrestling. I don't know.
[1:08:13] Speaker 4: I will say that that was a phenomenal event.
[1:08:17] Speaker 5: You got to make a little cameo comeback appearance.
[1:08:21] Speaker 1: You never know, man. You never know. A little tease.
[1:08:26] Speaker 5: Yeah, your shirt.
[1:08:28] Speaker 1: Who we got?
[1:08:28] Speaker 5: Razor Ramon?
[1:08:32] Speaker 1: That was in Daytona. Yeah. Who's the third man? I
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: told none of these guys. They had no idea it
[1:08:38] Speaker 1: was me. They had no idea.
[1:08:40] Speaker 5: No idea.
[1:08:43] Speaker 1: They were out in the ring not knowing who the
[1:08:45] Speaker 1: third guy was. That had to be mind-blowing. I told
[1:08:48] Speaker 1: Eric Bischoff, we agreed, don't tell anybody it's me.
[1:08:52] Speaker 4: It's hard to keep secrets nowadays. I don't know if
[1:08:53] Speaker 4: you noticed, but stuff gets leaked. Stuff gets leaked online,
[1:08:57] Speaker 4: social media.
[1:08:58] Speaker 5: It's almost like.
[1:08:59] Speaker 4: there's a mole in the WWE creative team that literally
[1:09:05] Speaker 4: leaves the meeting and leaks it to these wrestling sites.
[1:09:10] Speaker 5: It's disappointing. It's becoming harder and harder to keep things fresh.
[1:09:14] Speaker 1: Well, this was just between me and Eric, you know? Yeah, well, yeah.
[1:09:17] Speaker 5: But also, how do you hide you? That's the other thing.
[1:09:19] Speaker 1: Well, I was just, I was out in L.A. basically
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: shooting one of my blockbuster movies, Salmon with Muscles, you know.
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: And I saw Nash come out, you know. And I
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: saw Scott come out. And I said, okay, this looks
[1:09:34] Speaker 1: like a shoot. You know, it looks like he's working
[1:09:36] Speaker 1: with another company. And I called Big Kev, saw Big
[1:09:39] Speaker 1: Kev come out. And Eric, you know, had asked me
[1:09:42] Speaker 1: if I'd turn, you know, I told him to pound sand,
[1:09:45] Speaker 1: you know. And then I saw that going on. I
[1:09:47] Speaker 1: called Eric up. I said, who's your third man? And
[1:09:50] Speaker 1: Eric goes, oh, well, we're going to go with Sting.
[1:09:52] Speaker 1: I said, bro, he's not WWE. I mean, Scott and
[1:09:56] Speaker 1: Kev are WWE. Sting's got nothing. So I'm WWE from
[1:10:00] Speaker 1: head to toe. I'm the third man. Eric goes, really?
[1:10:02] Speaker 1: Will you do it? I said, yeah, I'll do it.
[1:10:04] Speaker 1: And Eric didn't even believe I would do it. So
[1:10:07] Speaker 1: I flew in on a Learjet down to Daytona and
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: basically hid out in a hotel room. And I told Eric,
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: call me. you know, right before when the last matches
[1:10:20] Speaker 1: in the ring before the main event. Cause you know,
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: these guys, there was going to be the last match.
[1:10:25] Speaker 1: Then the main event would rest for 15, 20 minutes
[1:10:27] Speaker 1: before I went out there. Cause I would just walk out.
[1:10:29] Speaker 1: But Eric didn't even think I was coming from the hotel.
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: So he had sting ready to go. Oh, so they
[1:10:35] Speaker 1: didn't believe I would do it. Even Eric was going,
[1:10:37] Speaker 1: you know, cause there's several times I've, I had creative control,
[1:10:40] Speaker 1: you know, and I never used it, never used it
[1:10:44] Speaker 1: the whole time. But, um, And I didn't use it
[1:10:48] Speaker 1: this night either. But when I walked out, Scott and
[1:10:52] Speaker 1: Kevin almost shit me. They had no idea I was
[1:10:55] Speaker 1: coming out. And so it was kind of cool. But
[1:10:59] Speaker 1: the reaction we got from the crowd when I saw
[1:11:02] Speaker 1: them throwing all this stuff in the ring, And me
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: and Gene was holding the microphone interviewing me. And I said,
[1:11:07] Speaker 1: just like the crap in this ring, this represents all
[1:11:10] Speaker 1: you people out here. I said, I was selling out
[1:11:13] Speaker 1: the world when you guys were bumming gas to get
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: to high school, brother. And I was just running off
[1:11:18] Speaker 1: the top of my head saying whatever dumb shit I
[1:11:20] Speaker 1: could think of. And then when I saw me and
[1:11:22] Speaker 1: Gene get hit in the nose and he started bleeding,
[1:11:24] Speaker 1: you know, I said, I told Scott and Kev, I said, bro,
[1:11:26] Speaker 1: we might have a little bit of a riot in here.
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: You know, I really need to like, slow down with
[1:11:32] Speaker 1: my role here because i was getting pretty aggressive verbally
[1:11:35] Speaker 1: you know and you know once again none of that
[1:11:37] Speaker 1: stuff is scripted so like my wife says i might
[1:11:39] Speaker 1: say anything you know once i get out there so
[1:11:42] Speaker 1: but it was a cool that night was a huge
[1:11:44] Speaker 1: night and and on the way out i'm walking to
[1:11:48] Speaker 1: the ring right and all of a sudden my mind
[1:11:52] Speaker 1: is totally focused on who i am and what i
[1:11:55] Speaker 1: am because when i walk through that curtain, I'm Hulk Hogan, brother.
[1:11:58] Speaker 1: Because if I don't believe it, nobody's going to believe it.
[1:12:02] Speaker 1: And I'm totally Hulk Hogan. Man, I've gone through my transformation.
[1:12:05] Speaker 1: I'm this crazy alien and I'm going out there. And
[1:12:08] Speaker 1: all of a sudden I went, angle alert. You dumbass,
[1:12:11] Speaker 1: you're supposed to be wrestling. You're hiding in the hotel
[1:12:14] Speaker 1: room so long you still have your cowboy boots on.
[1:12:16] Speaker 1: You've never wrestled in cowboy boots. Now I'm walking to
[1:12:19] Speaker 1: the ring going, this is going to be the greatest
[1:12:21] Speaker 1: thing for my career or I'm done. This is going
[1:12:24] Speaker 1: to destroy my career, Sam. the training prayers and vitamins.
[1:12:27] Speaker 1: I did it for the money, you know? And all
[1:12:30] Speaker 1: of a sudden I'm walking down there and I got
[1:12:32] Speaker 1: into my own head. I said, Holy shit. I got
[1:12:33] Speaker 1: cowboy boots on. I forgot to put my wrestling boots on.
[1:12:36] Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be wrestling, but it was like an
[1:12:38] Speaker 1: angle where I almost screwed myself up overthinking stuff on
[1:12:41] Speaker 1: the way, just walk into the ring. But they were
[1:12:43] Speaker 1: shocked when they saw me come through the curtain.
[1:12:45] Speaker 5: For sure.
[1:12:46] Speaker 1: But I just like to do stuff like that.
[1:12:48] Speaker 3: You know, it's just, that's why I hear who you are.
[1:12:50] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:12:51] Speaker 5: Yeah. I, I'll let you go in here in a second.
[1:12:54] Speaker 5: I do.
[1:12:54] Speaker 4: I do have one question, uh, because, uh, like i
[1:12:57] Speaker 4: said earlier one of the most impressive things about what
[1:12:59] Speaker 4: you've been able to do is just like infiltrate culture
[1:13:02] Speaker 4: in a way that cannot be erased or forgotten or
[1:13:06] Speaker 4: replicated or replicated the biggest thing ever ever as someone
[1:13:09] Speaker 4: who actually lived through it unlike you.
[1:13:12] Speaker 2: The biggest thing yeah the biggest personality ever well you
[1:13:16] Speaker 2: live through it right and then like my generation and
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: the current generation is still experiencing the ripple effects of
[1:13:23] Speaker 2: your career it's It is insane.
[1:13:26] Speaker 5: And I will kiss your ass and gas you up.
[1:13:28] Speaker 5: It's incredible. And I'm taking notes and I'm just sitting
[1:13:31] Speaker 5: here so inspired.
[1:13:33] Speaker 4: But I guess my question is, did you have that
[1:13:36] Speaker 4: goal to infiltrate culture in that way?
[1:13:39] Speaker 5: Not just with wrestling.
[1:13:40] Speaker 4: I'm sure there was a point where you realized like, oh,
[1:13:43] Speaker 4: I'm good at this and people are biting. But then
[1:13:45] Speaker 4: also like the movies, the merch, all the ancillary stuff
[1:13:49] Speaker 4: that comes with it.
[1:13:50] Speaker 5: Like Rocky?
[1:13:50] Speaker 1: Rocky?
[1:13:51] Speaker 4: A Rocky movie that you potentially sacrificed your career at
[1:13:56] Speaker 4: the time, made it look like that decision?
[1:13:59] Speaker 5: Was that a goal of yours?
[1:14:01] Speaker 4: And did you realize that you could land among the
[1:14:04] Speaker 4: stars if you shot for the moon?
[1:14:06] Speaker 1: Well, I did some really stupid stuff. Like when I
[1:14:10] Speaker 1: was playing in a rock and roll band, I was
[1:14:13] Speaker 1: a huge wrestling fan growing up because we didn't have anything.
[1:14:16] Speaker 1: We just had baseball. We didn't have the Bucks. We
[1:14:19] Speaker 1: didn't have hockey when I was growing up. so many
[1:14:21] Speaker 1: years ago. So I was, I was a huge wrestling fan.
[1:14:25] Speaker 1: And one of the big things, big mistakes I made
[1:14:28] Speaker 1: is I was a studio musician out of Atlanta was
[1:14:30] Speaker 1: century artists. So I left here and went on the road.
[1:14:33] Speaker 1: And when I came back here, when I was in
[1:14:35] Speaker 1: high school, they had all these really good bands, you know?
[1:14:38] Speaker 1: So I grabbed the best keyboard player from one band,
[1:14:41] Speaker 1: best lead singer, best drummer, and put this band together.
[1:14:44] Speaker 1: And then the wrestlers started coming because when the band
[1:14:47] Speaker 1: would play on the beach or the band would play
[1:14:48] Speaker 1: in North Tampa or St. Pete, We had this crazy following,
[1:14:52] Speaker 1: you know, to come see us. And the wrestlers started
[1:14:54] Speaker 1: showing up. I was scared to death of these guys, man.
[1:14:56] Speaker 1: Cauliflower ears, broken noses, teeth, knocked out. They were all
[1:14:59] Speaker 1: over 300 pounds. And if you want to get in
[1:15:02] Speaker 1: the wrestling business, there's no chance. There's only like eight
[1:15:05] Speaker 1: guys in the dressing room. They don't have a performance
[1:15:08] Speaker 1: center to go work out at, you know? So like
[1:15:10] Speaker 1: a dumbass, I started telling everybody, I'm going to be
[1:15:12] Speaker 1: a wrestler. And I was running my mouth in Tampa. So...
[1:15:17] Speaker 1: They took me down to the sportatorium here over on
[1:15:19] Speaker 1: Albany and Kennedy, about two minutes away from here. They
[1:15:22] Speaker 1: got me in the ring, they exorcised me to death.
[1:15:25] Speaker 1: And then Hiro Matsuda got and put his elbow on
[1:15:29] Speaker 1: my shin and posted my toe and broke my leg.
[1:15:31] Speaker 1: So that was my first day. And I had real
[1:15:34] Speaker 1: long blonde hair because I was playing in a band.
[1:15:36] Speaker 1: They said, don't ever come back again. So I went
[1:15:38] Speaker 1: home and my dad beat my ass worse than they
[1:15:40] Speaker 1: did down here. you're having a.
[1:15:42] Speaker 4: Bad day yeah yeah it's crazy yeah things were different.
[1:15:46] Speaker 1: Yeah and he said don't ever let anybody hurt you
[1:15:49] Speaker 1: again yeah so i got my mind right and i
[1:15:51] Speaker 1: cut my hair short i went back and then they
[1:15:53] Speaker 1: couldn't run me off you know but when i started
[1:15:56] Speaker 1: i just wanted to make a living you know i
[1:15:58] Speaker 1: just i just wanted to be a wrestler and make
[1:15:59] Speaker 1: a payday then when i got in the business and
[1:16:02] Speaker 1: i started seeing you know it was kind of boring
[1:16:06] Speaker 1: and people would just sit there and the cigar smokers
[1:16:09] Speaker 1: and beer drinkers would be in the front row and
[1:16:11] Speaker 1: they just wanted to see blood. And it was kind
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: of like, okay, well I can do this. You know,
[1:16:15] Speaker 1: I was wrestling preliminary matches and they put a mask
[1:16:18] Speaker 1: on me, called me the super destroyer because I was
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: in really good shape when I was younger and they
[1:16:24] Speaker 1: wanted to protect me in case I did become something someday.
[1:16:27] Speaker 1: And so once I started wrestling, you know, I went
[1:16:30] Speaker 1: through a bunch of different changes. I went, I became
[1:16:33] Speaker 1: Terry Boulder and then, this promoter in Atlanta named me
[1:16:37] Speaker 1: Sterling Golden, you know. And that's a whole other story.
[1:16:44] Speaker 1: But I was in the ring one day, and when
[1:16:46] Speaker 1: I slammed people, I looked at the crowd, and the
[1:16:50] Speaker 1: look got a better reaction than the move. And I went, oh,
[1:16:53] Speaker 1: wait a minute. Then I did something else, and I
[1:16:56] Speaker 1: did something, and the look to the crowd got a
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: better reaction. So I said, okay, they want to see
[1:17:00] Speaker 1: the bullshit. And being a musician and being in front
[1:17:04] Speaker 1: of crowds and talking and stuff, I was used to
[1:17:06] Speaker 1: being in front of people. So, you know, all of
[1:17:09] Speaker 1: a sudden I started changing the way I worked in
[1:17:11] Speaker 1: the ring and started mugging the crowd more. So all
[1:17:14] Speaker 1: of a sudden it started, you know, getting a little
[1:17:17] Speaker 1: crazy and I started figuring it out. Then when I
[1:17:19] Speaker 1: got fired from WWF, I was a bad guy at
[1:17:23] Speaker 1: the time. I just sold out Shea Stadium with Andre
[1:17:25] Speaker 1: the Giant in 78 and I got fired a couple
[1:17:28] Speaker 1: of weeks later. And then when I went to Minnesota,
[1:17:32] Speaker 1: I started this Hulkamania crap. I would go to the
[1:17:34] Speaker 1: mall and have t-shirts made. And I started to figure
[1:17:38] Speaker 1: out the shirt and the hulking up. And then once
[1:17:41] Speaker 1: I came up, I wouldn't let anybody stop me. You know,
[1:17:43] Speaker 1: once I came up, you know, they could beat on me,
[1:17:46] Speaker 1: do whatever, but I wouldn't let them stop me. I
[1:17:48] Speaker 1: just plop through and do my comeback and finish, you know,
[1:17:50] Speaker 1: whatever the finish was. But when I got back to
[1:17:54] Speaker 1: New York and I walked in the garden, they were,
[1:17:58] Speaker 1: they were selling any merchandise and no music. So, And
[1:18:01] Speaker 1: I said something to Vince about playing music. He goes, no,
[1:18:03] Speaker 1: we don't play music here. So I ran up to
[1:18:05] Speaker 1: the sound guy. I gave him 500 bucks. I gave
[1:18:07] Speaker 1: him the eye of the tiger. I said, crank this shit.
[1:18:09] Speaker 1: No way. I said, crank this shit. Gangster. Yeah, so
[1:18:13] Speaker 1: they cranked that music. That daunt, daunt, and the place
[1:18:16] Speaker 1: just blew. Yeah, yeah. The place just blew.
[1:18:19] Speaker 3: Can you imagine the execs if you did that today?
[1:18:21] Speaker 5: Bro, copyright.
[1:18:22] Speaker 1: I'd sue for millions of dollars. Oh, Scotty Brothers wasn't
[1:18:25] Speaker 1: happy with me at all. Yeah, yeah. No, they weren't
[1:18:27] Speaker 1: happy at all. So anyway, now we do this thing.
[1:18:30] Speaker 1: I pull it off. things go perfectly. Thank God I
[1:18:33] Speaker 1: did blow my knee out that night. There was a
[1:18:36] Speaker 1: board up in the gardens. Last time I jumped up
[1:18:38] Speaker 1: and dropped a knee on anybody's chest. I blew my
[1:18:40] Speaker 1: left knee out. It was crazy. I thought I was
[1:18:43] Speaker 1: going to have to tell anybody, but I've wrapped it
[1:18:45] Speaker 1: up and did whatever I had to do to kill
[1:18:47] Speaker 1: the pain. And, uh, I started, you know, getting over
[1:18:53] Speaker 1: with the character and the music. I realized I was
[1:18:55] Speaker 1: onto something. And then all of a sudden when the
[1:18:57] Speaker 1: people like right guard started coming to me to do
[1:18:59] Speaker 1: commercials and the a team was calling me to be
[1:19:02] Speaker 1: on the show and Mr. T that's how we hooked him.
[1:19:04] Speaker 1: I did a couple episodes and talked him into wrestling
[1:19:07] Speaker 1: and just all these things started happening. All the wrestlers
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: wanted music. So Jimmy Hart, of course, keep on dancing,
[1:19:13] Speaker 1: recorded at Sun Studios with Elvis and everybody back in
[1:19:16] Speaker 1: the day. Jimmy's like 81 years old. Jimmy, you know,
[1:19:19] Speaker 1: wrote all the temp music, like Shawn Michaels music and
[1:19:21] Speaker 1: everybody's music. All the wrestlers wanted music. Then we started
[1:19:25] Speaker 1: making Hulkamania t-shirts and then Vince started making it for
[1:19:29] Speaker 1: everybody because Vince wasn't into it at the time, but
[1:19:31] Speaker 1: he caught on real quick. Then all of a sudden
[1:19:34] Speaker 1: I realized this is a monster. And I realized I
[1:19:37] Speaker 1: had a chance to change the game. And once we
[1:19:40] Speaker 1: started that cartoon on CBS, that pissed off all the
[1:19:44] Speaker 1: beer drinkers and all the cigar smokers. And then once
[1:19:47] Speaker 1: we said, this is an exhibition, we wanted to get
[1:19:50] Speaker 1: rid of all the commissioners. Because like the boxing commissioners
[1:19:53] Speaker 1: we had there last night, they were killing us. They
[1:19:56] Speaker 1: were wanting paydays. They were wanting to be paid under
[1:19:57] Speaker 1: the table. Guys that couldn't pass different tests. Sometimes you
[1:20:03] Speaker 1: have to pay people off to make sure people pass tests.
[1:20:05] Speaker 1: It just got crazy. So Vince deregulated wrestling, and when
[1:20:08] Speaker 1: he said it was an exhibition, that really pissed a
[1:20:10] Speaker 1: lot of the people off. And then we had the
[1:20:13] Speaker 1: family show up at ringside with the kids. Not only
[1:20:17] Speaker 1: would they buy the tickets, they'd buy hundreds of dollars
[1:20:19] Speaker 1: worth of merchandise and stuff. That's when I realized that
[1:20:23] Speaker 1: it was bigger than me just being a wrestler. That's
[1:20:25] Speaker 1: when I realized I had a chance to change the
[1:20:29] Speaker 1: game completely and the character become larger in life. And
[1:20:34] Speaker 1: I knew once Sports Illustrated called me, and I was
[1:20:36] Speaker 1: the only wrestler that's ever been on the cover. I said, okay,
[1:20:39] Speaker 1: this changes everything, you know. But I had no idea
[1:20:42] Speaker 1: when I started that it was going to turn into
[1:20:44] Speaker 1: what it turned into. I just wanted a job, and
[1:20:46] Speaker 1: I just wanted to be a wrestler and make a living.
[1:20:49] Speaker 1: It just blew through the roof.
[1:20:51] Speaker 5: Man, I know we just met, and I am your underling,
[1:20:53] Speaker 5: but I'm proud of you.
[1:20:55] Speaker 1: Thank you, brother.
[1:20:55] Speaker 5: Yeah, incredible career. I'm so inspired, man.
[1:20:58] Speaker 4: And thanks for blessing us with your time today. I
[1:21:01] Speaker 4: know you had a late night, not much sleep. Your
[1:21:03] Speaker 4: beer is great, kept us both awake.
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: I'm very upset with you, man. Why, why, why? You're
[1:21:07] Speaker 1: fucking me out like that.
[1:21:08] Speaker 3: No, no, come on, bro. Yeah, that was messed up, bro.
[1:21:10] Speaker 1: No, that was all right. Acting like you don't know
[1:21:12] Speaker 1: all these folks. It was all right. No, it was cool.
[1:21:15] Speaker 1: It was cool, but I thought he really didn't know. Nah,
[1:21:16] Speaker 1: come on.
[1:21:17] Speaker 4: No, cuz well, some of the audience members, I don't
[1:21:20] Speaker 4: know if all of them are wrestling fans and just
[1:21:22] Speaker 4: wanna clarify.
[1:21:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, just so the audience knows, you know?
[1:21:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
[1:21:26] Speaker 5: Well, if they don't, they're just gonna go over their head.
[1:21:28] Speaker 5: But Hulk Hogan, brother.
[1:21:30] Speaker 1: Brother, thank you for joining us. Brother, brother.
[1:21:31] Speaker 2: Dude, you just made one of my childhood dreams come true, man.
[1:21:36] Speaker 1: Thank you, guys. Kevin, too.
[1:21:38] Speaker 5: I bet Kevin getting headlocked, he was going to write
[1:21:39] Speaker 5: on his Instagram.
[1:21:40] Speaker 4: An honor, brother.
[1:21:43] Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Thank you guys so much.
