[13:23] Speaker 6: This Supreme Court, this right wing Supreme Court, is so
[13:28] Speaker 6: overtly partisan. They are doing the work of the Republican Party.
[13:34] Speaker 6: Wait until I tell you what they just did when
[13:38] Speaker 6: it comes to the Congression of Maps in Louisiana. Will
[13:40] Speaker 6: be joined by Justice correspondent Ellie Mittel Folks. I'll be
[13:44] Speaker 6: speaking with the Executi Directory of Women with Black Men
[13:46] Speaker 6: about tonight's urgent call regarding voting rights Tennessee. There's a
[13:50] Speaker 6: law that says no Jared mannering in the middle of
[13:55] Speaker 6: the process. They're gonna have just Republicans. They are going
[13:58] Speaker 6: to change the law. I met with the protesters at
[14:01] Speaker 6: the state capital today. Law democrats have found a lawsuit
[14:04] Speaker 6: against the Congression math that Governor Rodnal Sanders has signed
[14:07] Speaker 6: into law. Also in Alabama, protests there as they are
[14:11] Speaker 6: trying to get rid of two black congressional districts. Also,
[14:15] Speaker 6: Bishop William Barber will join up to discuss the GP's
[14:18] Speaker 6: war on Black America and tonight's Black stud Network Marketplace segment.
[14:22] Speaker 6: We will feature revolutionary product for women's period care. It's
[14:25] Speaker 6: time to bring the fuck Roland marked unfilter on the

[14:28] Speaker 5: Let's go whatever that sold it, whatever it is. He's
[14:35] Speaker 5: got to.
[14:38] Speaker 12: Believes he's right on time, and.
[14:41] Speaker 13: Best believe he's going.
[14:44] Speaker 14: Loston host to politics for the entertainment just Bucks, He's.
[14:56] Speaker 12: It's Rosen, He's She's built the question.
[15:08] Speaker 11: No, he's rule.
[15:23] Speaker 6: Shaw Supreme Court too. Just as John Roberts says he
[15:25] Speaker 6: doesn't like it when people look at the Supreme Court
[15:29] Speaker 6: as being two partisans, saying that people have to respect
[15:33] Speaker 6: the court. Well, what they did last night makes it
[15:36] Speaker 6: perfectly clear that we should have no respect for this
[15:40] Speaker 6: hardcore right wing conservative court. Yeah, the Court allowed a
[15:47] Speaker 6: recent ruling last week that we can accrucial part of
[15:50] Speaker 6: the Voter Rights Act to take effects more than usual.
[15:53] Speaker 6: This procedural decision comes shortly after the Court rule that
[15:57] Speaker 6: and evalidated Louisiana's congressional map. It diminished action to the
[16:00] Speaker 6: Voting Rights Act. Typically, the Court waits thirty two days
[16:02] Speaker 6: before officially issuing its judgment to the lower court. No,
[16:06] Speaker 6: they said, we're not even going to wait a week.
[16:09] Speaker 6: Last week, Louisiana's requestion of the court expired the process,
[16:13] Speaker 6: emphasizing the urgent need to redraw its congressional maps. On Monday,
[16:17] Speaker 6: the Supreme Court granted the requests. In fact, Supreme Court
[16:20] Speaker 6: Justice Elit Samuel Ledos tow to take pot shots at
[16:23] Speaker 6: Supreme Court Justice Katandi Brown Jackson, Yeah, the black vowels
[16:28] Speaker 6: in the Kalay case. He filed an emotion asking the
[16:30] Speaker 6: Supreme Court to recall the judgment, stating, if they intend
[16:33] Speaker 6: to file for a motion for reconsideration, Ellie Mischiable Justice
[16:37] Speaker 6: correspondent with the Nation, Jess right now. So, Ellie, for
[16:40] Speaker 6: people who don't know, explain to them something called the
[16:45] Speaker 6: per sale decision or the per sale doctrine, if.
[16:49] Speaker 15: You will, Yeah, the percel principle. It's prely simple. It
[16:54] Speaker 15: states that you cannot change the structure of the rules,
[16:57] Speaker 15: the time, place, and manner anything about the election. It
[17:01] Speaker 15: says that you can't change those rules too close to
[17:05] Speaker 15: the upcoming election.
[17:06] Speaker 6: Ah, too close, too close to the upcoming election. I'm sorry. Louisiana,
[17:14] Speaker 6: their election already started, forty two thousand people had already voted.
[17:21] Speaker 6: The governor says, no, we're gonna postpone that and we're
[17:25] Speaker 6: gonna redraw the lines. And Samlely Alito said this is
[17:29] Speaker 6: so important, they must be allowed to do so. But Ellie, Uh,
[17:34] Speaker 6: wasn't it three or four years ago when the Louisiana
[17:41] Speaker 6: maps were declared unconstitution as in the same Supreme Court
[17:44] Speaker 6: said stop puld up, it's too soon. But that was
[17:49] Speaker 6: five and a half months before. I mean remember vividly,
[17:53] Speaker 6: and they said, no, no, five and a half months
[17:55] Speaker 6: is too soon. The legend already started this one.
[18:00] Speaker 5: You're absolutely right. And the case was called Alan v. Milligan.
[18:03] Speaker 15: It was in Alabama, and Alabama had these racist maps.
[18:07] Speaker 15: These racist maps were so racist that even the racists
[18:11] Speaker 15: on the Supreme Court was just like, oh, that's that's
[18:13] Speaker 15: a bit too far. But they decided the case in
[18:16] Speaker 15: February of twenty twenty two. And at that point, these conservatives,
[18:20] Speaker 15: including Brett Kavanaugh, said that February twenty twenty two was
[18:25] Speaker 15: too close to the November twenty twenty two midterms, and
[18:28] Speaker 15: they invoked the per Cel principle. So they forced Alabama
[18:32] Speaker 15: to have an election under unconstitutionally racist maps because they
[18:37] Speaker 15: only ruled the maps racist in February and the election
[18:40] Speaker 15: was in November. So that's the Percel principle when it
[18:43] Speaker 15: comes to restoring black voting rights. But when it comes
[18:47] Speaker 15: to taking black voting whites away, apparently it doesn't matter.
[18:50] Speaker 15: Apparently May May in twenty twenty six headed the November
[18:55] Speaker 15: twenty sixth, twenty twenty six midterm elections. That's that's not
[18:59] Speaker 15: close enough the election to invoke this principle. So the
[19:02] Speaker 15: hypocrisy from these justice justices is pretty evident. You were
[19:07] Speaker 15: saying that the decision regarded the a normal thirty two
[19:12] Speaker 15: day waiting period to reconsider. The reason why Louisiana wanted
[19:16] Speaker 15: them to get rid of that period is so they
[19:18] Speaker 15: get fast tracked so they could move as fast as
[19:20] Speaker 15: possible to take away black voting rights again. Kataji Brown
[19:24] Speaker 15: Jackson in the past twenty five years found only two
[19:28] Speaker 15: situations in which the court even considered getting rid of
[19:31] Speaker 15: their waiting period, and they didn't in either of those times.
[19:35] Speaker 15: That's what Jackson wrote in her dissent. So the idea
[19:38] Speaker 15: of what they're doing is pretty obvious. But Roland, you
[19:41] Speaker 15: said one thing that that I guess I kind of
[19:43] Speaker 15: disagree with you. You were saying that it really shows
[19:47] Speaker 15: how partisan this court is, how they're really going after
[19:51] Speaker 15: Democrats and trying to help Republicans win the election. That's true,
[19:55] Speaker 15: but this doesn't show just their partisanship. This shows their
[19:59] Speaker 15: de abiding racism. This is a purely racist decision because
[20:05] Speaker 15: what you see happening in Louisiana and Tennessee, which you're
[20:08] Speaker 15: going to talk about later in the show, in all
[20:10] Speaker 15: of these southern states.
[20:11] Speaker 5: Roland, they are trying to eliminate.
[20:15] Speaker 15: The Congressional Black Caucus. They are trying to eradicate the
[20:19] Speaker 15: Congressional Black Caucus. There are sixty seven members of the
[20:22] Speaker 15: Compressional sixty seven black people serving in Congress. Most of
[20:26] Speaker 15: them represent districts in the South, and those are the
[20:29] Speaker 15: districts they're trying to take away. To the point that
[20:32] Speaker 15: when we talk about these gerrymandering maps, these new maps, Roland,
[20:36] Speaker 15: they are leaving white Democratic districts alone. They are not
[20:42] Speaker 15: splitting up because you know, we all think that like,
[20:45] Speaker 15: the only Democrats in the South are black, and they ain't.
[20:47] Speaker 15: There are some wipes of good conscience in the South
[20:51] Speaker 15: who vote for the Democratic Party.
[20:53] Speaker 5: Their neighborhoods are untouched.
[20:54] Speaker 15: They're not cracking and packing the white Democratic neighborhoods in Louisiana,
[21:00] Speaker 15: in Texas and Tennessee. They're only going after the black ones.
[21:05] Speaker 15: And so I just don't want people to even for
[21:08] Speaker 15: a second miss that this isn't just political. This isn't
[21:13] Speaker 15: just oh no doubt to be liberal, Republican, be Democrat.
[21:17] Speaker 15: This is white v black. Oh oh, absolutely white supremacists
[21:21] Speaker 15: coming for our very right to participate in democratic self government.
[21:26] Speaker 5: And they are winning.
[21:27] Speaker 6: And see the things that I need people to understand
[21:30] Speaker 6: this is from talking points, ma'amo. Go to my Ipan anthony.
[21:32] Speaker 6: They call this Alitos Alabama pickle. They said it in
[21:35] Speaker 6: order to not look stupid. Samuel Alito had to differentiate
[21:38] Speaker 6: the courts twenty twenty three decision in Alan v. Milligan
[21:42] Speaker 6: from Klay, despite the fact that they are virtually the same.
[21:45] Speaker 6: I need people to understand that this exact same Supreme
[21:49] Speaker 6: Court agreed with the lower court that Alabama needed to
[21:53] Speaker 6: create a second congressional district because black voters were frankly
[21:59] Speaker 6: being chief. The same Supreme Court ruled in the exact
[22:04] Speaker 6: same second seat in Louisiana that it needed to be done.
[22:10] Speaker 6: And the Republicans went out and said, fine, we're gonna
[22:12] Speaker 6: draws the black district. And then they said, okay, so
[22:14] Speaker 6: now we're gonna draw the black district, and then now
[22:18] Speaker 6: we're gonna take the same district, same seat that they
[22:21] Speaker 6: made us draw, and now we're gonna sue to get
[22:25] Speaker 6: it completely overturned. In Alito and Clarence Thomas and Roberts
[22:29] Speaker 6: and gor sic and was the woman's calling, Kevin Haugh
[22:34] Speaker 6: and Barra went, oh, yeah, you know what, you're absolutely right,
[22:38] Speaker 6: as if the Alabama decision that they made and the
[22:42] Speaker 6: Louisiana decision that they made never existed.
[22:46] Speaker 5: Yep, yep, that's what happened.
[22:48] Speaker 15: To remember what the linigans in this the people suing
[22:51] Speaker 15: on behalf of the racists in Louisiana were a group
[22:55] Speaker 15: of white voters who were arguing that they had a
[22:58] Speaker 15: constitutional right to over representation. And I never want people
[23:04] Speaker 15: to miss that white people said that they were being
[23:06] Speaker 15: discriminated in Louisiana because of the second majority minority district
[23:11] Speaker 15: in Louisiana that that was discriminating against white rights, even
[23:15] Speaker 15: though white folks only make up sixty percent of the
[23:17] Speaker 15: population of Louisiana.
[23:19] Speaker 5: The white folks there.
[23:20] Speaker 15: Were arguing that they had a constitutional right to more
[23:24] Speaker 15: representation than they deserve.
[23:26] Speaker 5: Right, whenever we talk about jerry mandamin, whenever we.
[23:28] Speaker 15: Talk about voter representation, you never have black people asking
[23:32] Speaker 15: for more than we deserve. You never had black people
[23:35] Speaker 15: asking to be over represented. We just want to be
[23:38] Speaker 15: counted fairly. But these white folks, they literally are going
[23:41] Speaker 15: to the Supreme Court and winning at the Supreme Court
[23:44] Speaker 15: are an argument that is based on over representation. Now,
[23:47] Speaker 15: in terms of the hypocrisy of the Supreme Court justices,
[23:50] Speaker 15: I'll give sam Alito this. He dissented in the case
[23:53] Speaker 15: that you just brought up. He dissented in al and Milligan.
[23:56] Speaker 15: Alita is actually not the one that flipped.
[23:58] Speaker 12: He O.
[23:58] Speaker 15: He's always hated us, as has Clarence Thomas, as has
[24:02] Speaker 15: Neil Gorsich. The people who flipped were media Darling, John Roberts.
[24:06] Speaker 15: It is John Roberts. I was honestly surprised. Roland when
[24:10] Speaker 15: this decision came out, not the ruling. I knew the
[24:12] Speaker 15: Supreme Court was going to do racism, but I was
[24:14] Speaker 15: surprised that Roberts let Alito write it as opposed to
[24:18] Speaker 15: taking his prerogative as Chief Justice to write that decision.
[24:22] Speaker 15: Because it was a coward move from John Roberts. Because
[24:26] Speaker 15: John Roberts is the person that said Alabama's map was
[24:30] Speaker 15: unconstitutional back in twenty twenty two, and now in the
[24:34] Speaker 15: carbon copy, exact same situation, John Roberts has changed his mind. Well,
[24:38] Speaker 15: he owed it to people to explain to people why
[24:41] Speaker 15: he changed his mind. What was different John, What's the
[24:45] Speaker 15: new thing that happened? And he punked out, He punked
[24:48] Speaker 15: out like a little coward, and he gave it to
[24:50] Speaker 15: his rabbit attack dog Sam Alito to write the most
[24:53] Speaker 15: awful decision that leader could think of.
[24:55] Speaker 5: And Robins just.
[24:56] Speaker 15: Signed his name on it. But he never explained why
[24:58] Speaker 15: he changed his mind. He was a coward punk moved
[25:00] Speaker 15: from Roberts. But again, this is this is this Supreme Court.
[25:04] Speaker 15: When I was on your show in twenty twenty one,
[25:07] Speaker 15: in twenty twenty two begging the Biden administration to do
[25:10] Speaker 15: something about court expansion, to expand the number of justices
[25:14] Speaker 15: on the Supreme Court.
[25:15] Speaker 5: This is why, this is what I was screaming about.
[25:19] Speaker 6: Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Eli, I'm sorry, Eli, I'm sorry, Elie.
[25:23] Speaker 6: You were screaming for Biden the Democrats to do what
[25:26] Speaker 6: the Republicans in Utah did whether Utah Supreme Court ruled
[25:31] Speaker 6: against them and created a Democrat congressional district, and the
[25:35] Speaker 6: Republicans said, oh damn this, We're adding Utah State Supreme
[25:40] Speaker 6: Court justices, and the legislature approved it, governors side into law.
[25:46] Speaker 15: I was begging the Democrats to protect the Voting Rights Act,
[25:50] Speaker 15: if for no reason other reason than that of self preservation.
[25:53] Speaker 15: Right for no, if you can't do the do it
[25:56] Speaker 15: on the moral grounds and you can't do it on
[25:58] Speaker 15: the legal grounds, do it for self preservation, Democrats.
[26:01] Speaker 5: But they didn't.
[26:01] Speaker 15: I was begging them to pass the John Lewis Voting
[26:04] Speaker 15: Rights Act, which would have restored a lot of the
[26:07] Speaker 15: previous issues with the Voting Rights Act of the Republicans
[26:10] Speaker 15: had taken away. But oh, we can't kill the followbusters,
[26:12] Speaker 15: So what can we do, Joe Manchin.
[26:15] Speaker 5: Was the answer that you got. And so now, to
[26:18] Speaker 5: quote al Gore. We are living in a time of consequences.
[26:22] Speaker 15: This is what happens when you let racist Republicans control
[26:26] Speaker 15: the Supreme Court. And what that consequence is going to
[26:30] Speaker 15: be is the attempted eradication of the Congressional Black Caucus.
[26:34] Speaker 15: But I don't want to leave people just with doom
[26:36] Speaker 15: and bloom.
[26:37] Speaker 5: Although I have.
[26:40] Speaker 15: I don't have a lot of hope at this moment.
[26:43] Speaker 15: I don't want to leave people with only that. Understand
[26:47] Speaker 15: all of these gerrymanders, all of these maps, they're based
[26:51] Speaker 15: on a previous idea of voter turnout. They're based on
[26:55] Speaker 15: a previous idea of black voter turnout. They're based on
[26:58] Speaker 15: a previous idea of Latino voter turnout, and they're based
[27:01] Speaker 15: on an.
[27:01] Speaker 5: Idea of white voter turnout.
[27:04] Speaker 15: If black people, Latino people, and whites of good conscious
[27:08] Speaker 15: overwhelmingly turnout like Obama two thousand and eight numbers turnout,
[27:14] Speaker 15: all of these maps fail them. All of these maps
[27:17] Speaker 15: heel because what they're to make the maps, because you
[27:19] Speaker 15: can't completely erase the people to make a majority minority
[27:24] Speaker 15: district safe for a white Republican. What you have to
[27:27] Speaker 15: do is not only is get you know, just fifty
[27:30] Speaker 15: percent plus one into that majority minority district. You also
[27:34] Speaker 15: have to weaken previously strong Republican districts to make the
[27:39] Speaker 15: numbers work LA, and you overwhelmingly turn out Yep, you blow.
[27:44] Speaker 5: Up all of their calculations. It is the only way
[27:47] Speaker 5: at this point.
[27:48] Speaker 6: And that's why what I call this what it is,
[27:52] Speaker 6: it is a is a GOP war on Black America.
[27:56] Speaker 6: I said last night, this should be freedom Summer twenty
[27:59] Speaker 6: twenty six. I walk people through this graphic that I
[28:04] Speaker 6: walked through that what happened. The numbers do not lie.
[28:07] Speaker 6: The numbers are very clear when and the reason Republicans
[28:10] Speaker 6: are pissed off is because of what happened two thousand
[28:14] Speaker 6: and eight, Anthony, go b iPad, y'all. It's right here.
[28:17] Speaker 6: You see right there two thousand and eight, twenty twelve.
[28:21] Speaker 6: The black line that's black people. The blue line it's
[28:26] Speaker 6: white people. Two thousand and eight too, So y'all the number,
[28:30] Speaker 6: I'm sorry, the blue line is black. Uh, the black
[28:33] Speaker 6: line is white. And you see right here two thousand
[28:36] Speaker 6: and eight, twenty twelve, where you have black people outvoted
[28:40] Speaker 6: white people. Now here's a deal. They pissed up Latinos
[28:44] Speaker 6: Latinos are way down here. Latinos were under forty or
[28:48] Speaker 6: fifty percent in two thousand and eight, the exceeded fifty
[28:51] Speaker 6: percent in twenty twenty, went back down to twenty twenty four.
[28:56] Speaker 6: And what I have been saying, point blank, Ellie, is
[28:59] Speaker 6: that it's right here, this graphic right here. White is black,
[29:04] Speaker 6: Black is blue. If black people turn out in massive numbers,
[29:09] Speaker 6: oh they're screwed because you have to move people. If
[29:13] Speaker 6: the South Carolina wants to get rid of Clyburn's district,
[29:16] Speaker 6: you gotta figure out what to do with a lot
[29:19] Speaker 6: of black people. If you and Mississippi and you want
[29:22] Speaker 6: to get rid of Congress and Bennie Thompson's district and
[29:25] Speaker 6: make it GOP, you're gonna have to get rid of
[29:28] Speaker 6: forty percent of black people in the state. If you
[29:32] Speaker 6: are in Tennessee and you say, oh, we're gonna split Tennessee,
[29:37] Speaker 6: split Memphis like we did Nashville, well those black people
[29:42] Speaker 6: they're gonna go in somebody else's district. And again we
[29:46] Speaker 6: can torpedo them at every turn. So this is what
[29:50] Speaker 6: I'm saying mass voter registration. This is what I am
[29:54] Speaker 6: saying every single week, in every single city. In every
[29:59] Speaker 6: single southern state, there should be town halls, voter citizenship training,
[30:05] Speaker 6: walking people through the issues and get them to understand
[30:09] Speaker 6: that we can kick their asses at the ballot box.
[30:12] Speaker 6: And it also means in North Carolina, re elect Anita
[30:16] Speaker 6: Earls to the North Clown Supreme Court. And in twenty
[30:19] Speaker 6: twenty eight, when those three Republicans are up on the ballot,
[30:23] Speaker 6: take all three of them out at the ballot box.
[30:25] Speaker 6: It means Georgia. It means Georgia on May nineteenth. Having
[30:32] Speaker 6: those two candidates we had one on last night. One
[30:36] Speaker 6: name is Miracle, one name is Jena. Elect them to
[30:39] Speaker 6: the Georgia Supreme Court. Yo, this is warfare, Ellie, and
[30:43] Speaker 6: people got to be on warfare footing.
[30:46] Speaker 15: It's the only way. I cannot emphasize enough. There is
[30:50] Speaker 15: no more legal recourse. The Supreme Court is showing the
[30:55] Speaker 15: ass all right. They are here to bring the hammer
[31:00] Speaker 15: of white supremacy. There are no more lawsuits. There's there,
[31:03] Speaker 15: there's there, there's no more that.
[31:06] Speaker 4: That's that.
[31:07] Speaker 15: That avenue is functionally closed. And frankly, there are no
[31:12] Speaker 15: more candidates. Right like you're you you We can talk
[31:15] Speaker 15: all the time you want in the off years, about
[31:18] Speaker 15: how we need these candidates and that candidates and better
[31:20] Speaker 15: candidates and better man and it doesn't matter at this point.
[31:23] Speaker 15: All that matters is turnout. And one of the reasons
[31:26] Speaker 15: why they jerrymander districts is that they know that people
[31:30] Speaker 15: will look at the district they're in and feel like
[31:32] Speaker 15: it's hopeless, feel like there's no point, feel like there's
[31:35] Speaker 15: no reason to go out and vote because how can
[31:36] Speaker 15: you possibly overcome such a such a large white majority.
[31:41] Speaker 15: But you gotta remember, lots of white folks don't work
[31:43] Speaker 15: vote either, right, And if you if you have a
[31:46] Speaker 15: better turnout per capita than they do, and you bring friends,
[31:51] Speaker 15: white friends along, and you bring latino and a a
[31:54] Speaker 15: p I friends along.
[31:56] Speaker 5: Like that, that is how you do it. And that's
[31:58] Speaker 5: the only way left and the lasting I'll.
[32:00] Speaker 15: Say this, as bad as it is shaping up for
[32:04] Speaker 15: twenty twenty six in terms of voter suppression, please understand
[32:09] Speaker 15: twenty twenty six is gonna end up being our last
[32:13] Speaker 15: best chance for voter representation because all of these jerrymanders,
[32:18] Speaker 15: it's only gonna get worse in twenty twenty eight, and
[32:20] Speaker 15: it's only gonna get worse in twenty thirty after the
[32:24] Speaker 15: next census, when they have a normal redistricting under the
[32:28] Speaker 15: twenty thirty census will be the first census where they
[32:31] Speaker 15: will be able to do normal redistricting without the restrictions
[32:35] Speaker 15: of the Voting Rights Act.
[32:37] Speaker 5: So it only gets worse from here.
[32:41] Speaker 15: If you can't win here, if you can't win now,
[32:44] Speaker 15: if you can't win in twenty twenty six, it only
[32:47] Speaker 15: gets worse going forward.
[32:48] Speaker 6: And Ellie, this is also why finally you have folks
[32:52] Speaker 6: waking up. Democrats in New York. You have to run
[32:56] Speaker 6: the table Democrats in Illinois, run the table to that
[33:00] Speaker 6: asshole Senate president in Maryland. Get your ass in gear
[33:05] Speaker 6: and stop protecting that one Republican seat because they don't
[33:08] Speaker 6: give a damn about one Democratic seat. In other states
[33:12] Speaker 6: it means California, Yeah, go for a fifty two to
[33:16] Speaker 6: zero map.
[33:17] Speaker 3: That's what you do.
[33:20] Speaker 5: Yep.
[33:21] Speaker 15: It's absolute hardball. You cannot unilatterally disarmed. I know that
[33:26] Speaker 15: lots of people on my side of the aisle.
[33:28] Speaker 5: Oh, Jerry Mannering, it's solf icky and real.
[33:30] Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
[33:31] Speaker 5: It doesn't matter anymore.
[33:33] Speaker 15: Like what they did in Virginia is exactly what you
[33:36] Speaker 15: have to do in all of these other states where
[33:38] Speaker 15: Democrats do have control in Michigan, Like, as you say,
[33:41] Speaker 15: democrats have to run the table in the states that
[33:44] Speaker 15: still allow black voices to be heard, and then you
[33:48] Speaker 15: need overwhelming turnout in states where the black voice is suppressed.
[33:54] Speaker 15: And that's and that's your shot. That there is but
[33:57] Speaker 15: one play now and that's the play.
[34:00] Speaker 6: Yep, that's it, Ellie Misstil Justice correspondent. We still appreciate it, man, thanks.
[34:04] Speaker 5: A lot, Thank you so much for having me.
[34:07] Speaker 6: All Right, folks, if you want to understand how shameful
[34:10] Speaker 6: to speakable these people are, let's this sufficient from Georgia.
[34:15] Speaker 6: We're on Newsmax. And he literally said that, I know
[34:19] Speaker 6: there's an election going on. I know people are casting balance. Oh,
[34:23] Speaker 6: by the way, early voting has already started in Georgia.
[34:27] Speaker 6: The election is in fourteen days, it's in two weeks.
[34:30] Speaker 6: But Cornson Buddy Carter said, I don't care. We should
[34:35] Speaker 6: just stop the election and change the maps.
[34:39] Speaker 16: And I'm glad that Tennessee and Alabama are redrawing their districts,
[34:43] Speaker 16: and I think that Georgia should do the same thing. Yes,
[34:46] Speaker 16: we have started early voting, and yes it would be inconvenient,
[34:51] Speaker 16: but at the same time, it's never too late to.
[34:53] Speaker 6: Do the right thing. And the right thing is for
[34:56] Speaker 6: the governor and.
[34:57] Speaker 16: For the legislature to call a special session and to
[35:00] Speaker 16: read districts so that Georgians will be represented by people
[35:04] Speaker 16: who represent their values. We shouldn't have to suffer through
[35:07] Speaker 16: the next two years just because it's inconvenient to do
[35:11] Speaker 16: it now. We need to suspend the House races and
[35:14] Speaker 16: we need to go ahead and read districts so that
[35:16] Speaker 16: the Georgians would be represented in the next two years
[35:19] Speaker 16: by people who represent their values.
[35:22] Speaker 17: Yeah, if you could just even take a moment and
[35:24] Speaker 17: kind of, you know, walk our audience through, how might
[35:27] Speaker 17: redissertain really impact the balance of power between Democrats and
[35:31] Speaker 17: Republicans in the state of Georgia.
[35:33] Speaker 5: Well, I could.
[35:34] Speaker 16: We could potentially pick up two to three seats in
[35:37] Speaker 16: the state of Georgia. And that's important because that could
[35:40] Speaker 16: impact the national majority. It actually could be the difference
[35:46] Speaker 16: between us going back as Republicans in the majority in
[35:49] Speaker 16: the House and going back in the minority. And that's important.
[35:54] Speaker 16: It's important that Georgia do this. As I say, it's
[35:57] Speaker 16: never too late to do the right thing. And the
[35:58] Speaker 16: right thing is to go ahead and readdistrict so that
[36:02] Speaker 16: Georgians will be represented by people who represent their values.
[36:06] Speaker 5: Georgia is a republican state. We need to remember that.
[36:09] Speaker 6: Yeah, and I exactly Georgia is a republican state. As
[36:16] Speaker 6: if Democrats don't exist. Oh, by the way, as if
[36:20] Speaker 6: your two United States senators right now are not Democrats.
[36:24] Speaker 6: Randon Bryant's entrepreneur, author, speaker, creator of the Truth in Game,
[36:27] Speaker 6: joining us from DC that Thestapa Santego I Leaf, former
[36:29] Speaker 6: Senior Advisor for Environmental Justice of the EPA, Also from DC.
[36:32] Speaker 6: Nicole Robinson, political law attorney and strategists, also from d C.
[36:36] Speaker 6: Let they have all three of you here, staff, I'll
[36:37] Speaker 6: start with you. I keep saying it. This means war,
[36:44] Speaker 6: and this means all hands on deck. This is why
[36:47] Speaker 6: House Democratic Leader Hakim Jeffries, this is why he dropped
[36:50] Speaker 6: twenty million dollars in Virginia. This is why he is
[36:54] Speaker 6: funding the effort in New York State as well. Democrats
[36:57] Speaker 6: have got to stop playing this wonderful, nice cute let's
[37:01] Speaker 6: all get along. No, no, this is called being bumpy
[37:04] Speaker 6: Johnson ruthless.
[37:07] Speaker 10: Yeah, most definitely you know, we actually break this down,
[37:10] Speaker 10: this is about the erasure of black power. Every time
[37:13] Speaker 10: that we begin to make some strides, then they start
[37:16] Speaker 10: to implement these types of things. If you look at
[37:18] Speaker 10: the Congressional Black Caucus that Ellie had raised there just
[37:21] Speaker 10: a moment ago, you know, we've got some of the
[37:24] Speaker 10: highest numbers that we've had in a long time. You
[37:27] Speaker 10: know that of folks who are representing our communities, and
[37:30] Speaker 10: that power translates into being able to make sure our
[37:34] Speaker 10: air and our water is protected. That you know that
[37:37] Speaker 10: we're making sure the care and housing and transportation is
[37:40] Speaker 10: affordable and accessible. So folks really have to understand why
[37:43] Speaker 10: this is so incredibly important. So when they do the
[37:46] Speaker 10: jerry mandred, what they're doing is they're, you know, trying
[37:49] Speaker 10: to take away the small amount of power that we
[37:51] Speaker 10: have and the resources that are tied to that. And
[37:54] Speaker 10: that's why when you talk about this current war that's
[37:58] Speaker 10: going on, it's so incredibly important to actually not only
[38:00] Speaker 10: pay attention, but get engaged because you are literally making
[38:04] Speaker 10: a determination of what your future will look like and
[38:06] Speaker 10: does your vote have any power to actually help move
[38:10] Speaker 10: in the right direction.
[38:12] Speaker 6: Absolutely, And when I look at this here, you know,
[38:15] Speaker 6: randon we talk about DEI. I mean this supreme course says, hey,
[38:20] Speaker 6: we want power for white people. This is why I
[38:22] Speaker 6: wrote my book White Fear. I said, how the browning
[38:24] Speaker 6: of Americas making white folks lose their minds. I warn
[38:27] Speaker 6: everybody of this. I warn that these people are going
[38:31] Speaker 6: to cement white power. And this is exactly what they're
[38:35] Speaker 6: trying to do today, right.
[38:39] Speaker 18: You know, when people talk about racism, they really try
[38:42] Speaker 18: to minimize it to someone calling us the N word,
[38:45] Speaker 18: are being rude to us in the store, and I
[38:47] Speaker 18: want people to understand that this is real racism. This
[38:52] Speaker 18: is how they wipe us out and bring us to
[38:55] Speaker 18: our knees, and that is by going at the top.
[38:58] Speaker 18: They have sematically gone through every program that was designed
[39:04] Speaker 18: to give us some rights, some you know, it wasn't
[39:07] Speaker 18: all the way fair in this country. So they immediately
[39:11] Speaker 18: attacked DEI diversity equity inclusion to ensure that white people
[39:17] Speaker 18: would be the ones that were essentially only included and
[39:20] Speaker 18: treated fairly and paid fairly in jobs.
[39:23] Speaker 5: Although DEI helped white women more than anybody.
[39:27] Speaker 18: Now they have the EEOC encouraging white men to declare
[39:31] Speaker 18: that there's reverse discrimination going on because in their minds.
[39:35] Speaker 18: Although they control most of the money and power in
[39:38] Speaker 18: this country, when there's something that they don't have, they
[39:42] Speaker 18: really believe white supremacy makes them believe that they are
[39:46] Speaker 18: due and owed everything.
[39:47] Speaker 5: And now with this voting, what they're saying is that we.
[39:50] Speaker 18: Don't want black people to have a voice whatsoever in
[39:53] Speaker 18: this country. We don't want them to be able to
[39:55] Speaker 18: vote for their rights in their interest. It's not as
[39:58] Speaker 18: if we can trust them to speak for us, or
[40:01] Speaker 18: care for us, or put us, you know, in.
[40:04] Speaker 5: A good form.
[40:05] Speaker 18: So we are in trouble people, and you know, and
[40:09] Speaker 18: I hate to again, you know, scare people, but we
[40:13] Speaker 18: should be frightened to the point where we're doing something
[40:17] Speaker 18: because this is a straight up attack on us, on
[40:22] Speaker 18: our rights and our liberties and all the way that
[40:25] Speaker 18: we could live going forward in this country.
[40:29] Speaker 6: Nicole, this is about scaring people. It's called stating facts, exactly.
[40:34] Speaker 5: And I want people to keep remembering and keep hearing the.
[40:37] Speaker 19: Words white supremacy, because that's exactly what this is. Sometimes
[40:42] Speaker 19: white supremacy doesn't look like a hood or a burning
[40:44] Speaker 19: cross or a news. Sometimes it looks like a six
[40:47] Speaker 19: to three Supreme Court ruling. Sometimes it looks like redrawing
[40:51] Speaker 19: a map. But I also want us to remember that
[40:54] Speaker 19: black people have fought back every single time that white
[40:58] Speaker 19: supremacists tried to sign us, whether that be after Jim Crow, after.
[41:03] Speaker 5: Reconstruction, we have fought and we can fight this again.
[41:06] Speaker 20: In November, and even before November.
[41:08] Speaker 19: We need our legislators to come back and come out
[41:11] Speaker 19: and start redrawing maps just.
[41:13] Speaker 20: Like the Republicans are doing. We have to start fighting now,
[41:16] Speaker 20: educating ourselves now now, and geting on the front.
[41:20] Speaker 6: Lines absolutely, and folks just need to understand what does
[41:27] Speaker 6: that play? And this thing is real now, Folks in
[41:31] Speaker 6: Louisiana and the days filing the suspension of louisianas used
[41:34] Speaker 6: House primaries, Governor Jeff Landry is facing increasing backlash from voters.
[41:38] Speaker 6: On Monday, Louisiana Secretary of State's office confirmed that it
[41:41] Speaker 6: has received a petition to recall Landry. The petition begins
[41:44] Speaker 6: one hundred and eighty day window for organizers to collect
[41:46] Speaker 6: the necessary voting signatures. The petition was filed by bat
[41:49] Speaker 6: Ruge residents Marlon Gabullian Heels and Caitlin Stepter and covers
[41:55] Speaker 6: all sixty four parishes Supporters of the recall claim it
[41:58] Speaker 6: is motivated what they describe as a pattern of actions
[42:01] Speaker 6: and statements that undermine fair representation. Since it is a
[42:04] Speaker 6: statewide recall effort, Louisiana law mandates the signatures from twenty
[42:07] Speaker 6: percent of registered voters must be collected. That means about
[42:10] Speaker 6: six hundred thousand signatures. They have until October thirty first
[42:15] Speaker 6: to actually to collect all of those signatures. Now, what
[42:19] Speaker 6: we have seen is a number of people immediately began
[42:23] Speaker 6: to move and take action. When with Black Women on
[42:26] Speaker 6: Sunday had some eight thousand sisters who are on a
[42:29] Speaker 6: call talking about what are the next steps today We're
[42:33] Speaker 6: going to show you a bit later. Black Clergy hold
[42:35] Speaker 6: a news conference where they talked about what their strategy is. Tonight,
[42:40] Speaker 6: When with Black Men will be having a call, an
[42:43] Speaker 6: emergency call to respond to what is happening. Joining us
[42:46] Speaker 6: right now is Kalil Thompson, the executive director When with
[42:48] Speaker 6: Black Men. Glad to have you here. So you already
[42:53] Speaker 6: got folks who are signing up. What is going to
[42:56] Speaker 6: be the call to action tonight?
[42:59] Speaker 21: First, thank you for having me on. I appreciate a
[43:01] Speaker 21: big brother. So the call to actually needs to organize
[43:04] Speaker 21: on the ground. I think we have been. We were
[43:07] Speaker 21: all tired at the end of twenty twenty four. We
[43:09] Speaker 21: ran through the ticket tape and we thought we did
[43:12] Speaker 21: everything that we could as a black community, the single
[43:15] Speaker 21: largest voting block on the Democratic side where black women.
[43:18] Speaker 21: Second to that were black men, and I think we
[43:20] Speaker 21: felt that we carried democracy on our shoulders and we
[43:22] Speaker 21: just didn't see the result turn out the way that
[43:24] Speaker 21: we wanted. Not that any of us were complacent in
[43:27] Speaker 21: twenty twenty five and we were preparing for this decision,
[43:30] Speaker 21: but I think it's woken up a lot of community members,
[43:34] Speaker 21: armshair activists who were there to get engaged and get
[43:37] Speaker 21: in this fight. So the action is to show up
[43:40] Speaker 21: in your state houses, participate in the legislative process so
[43:45] Speaker 21: as they are redistricting. If there is a member in
[43:48] Speaker 21: your state Senate or your state House or your state
[43:51] Speaker 21: Assembly that you can contact, call, knock on their door,
[43:54] Speaker 21: be in their offices, let them know how you feel,
[43:57] Speaker 21: and pressure them to understand that this is white supremacy
[44:01] Speaker 21: at its best.
[44:03] Speaker 5: We need you to do it.
[44:04] Speaker 21: Then we need to turn this summer into an amazing
[44:06] Speaker 21: opportunity to engage anyone from the age of seventeen to
[44:11] Speaker 21: one hundred and five, as many African Americans that we
[44:14] Speaker 21: can get to understand that, knocking on doors, talking to
[44:17] Speaker 21: our community members, reaching each other at our fish fries,
[44:20] Speaker 21: our family reunions, anything that we can do to make
[44:24] Speaker 21: sure that not only are you registered, but you're constantly,
[44:27] Speaker 21: unfortunately going to have to check the voter registration roles
[44:29] Speaker 21: in your community to make sure that you haven't been
[44:31] Speaker 21: purged or removed, and then partnering up and tripling your vote.
[44:35] Speaker 21: By that, I mean finding three other people in your
[44:38] Speaker 21: community that can hop in the car and go with
[44:40] Speaker 21: you to vote, either in early voting and on election
[44:43] Speaker 21: day or vote by mail if it's still allowed in
[44:46] Speaker 21: your jurisdiction. So we need to make sure that this
[44:48] Speaker 21: summer we are galvanizing all of our efforts so that
[44:51] Speaker 21: everyone in our community is participating.
[44:54] Speaker 6: I disagree. I think people work complacent. I think too
[44:57] Speaker 6: many people. After the twenty twenty f election, I kept hearing,
[45:01] Speaker 6: oh my goodness, I'm tired, We've done so much, and
[45:03] Speaker 6: I was like, bullshit, I'm sorry, I'm like, this is
[45:06] Speaker 6: what's happening. He got inaugurated that they were executing Project
[45:10] Speaker 6: twenty twenty five, we're seeing massive cuts left and right.
[45:13] Speaker 6: We knew the Louisiana versus Colley decision was coming down,
[45:15] Speaker 6: and I was sitting here saying, y'all, y'all better get
[45:18] Speaker 6: ready for the fight ahead. And I think that was
[45:21] Speaker 6: a problem. I think too many of us, too many
[45:24] Speaker 6: people took all of twenty twenty five off, and now
[45:27] Speaker 6: they're waking up, going, oh my god, what's happening? And
[45:29] Speaker 6: I'm like, what are you talking about. We were yelling
[45:32] Speaker 6: and screaming that this was going to happen. It was
[45:35] Speaker 6: coming down. Now people are now trying to move. And
[45:39] Speaker 6: I'll be perfect, I'll be perfectly honest. It was too
[45:42] Speaker 6: many black organizations sitting there on our asses in twenty
[45:45] Speaker 6: twenty five and not preparing people for twenty twenty six.
[45:49] Speaker 6: Now we gotta play catch up.
[45:52] Speaker 21: Well, let me let me.
[45:53] Speaker 5: Push back this a little bit.
[45:54] Speaker 21: I think some men have sat on the sidelines because
[45:56] Speaker 21: that two billion dollars that went out the door in
[45:58] Speaker 21: twenty twenty four didn't make its way back.
[46:00] Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, I get that. I get the
[46:03] Speaker 6: two billion dollars from the campaign, but guess what, there
[46:06] Speaker 6: were other campaigns and what I'm saying is it was
[46:10] Speaker 6: a mistake. And what I'm saying is when I look
[46:12] Speaker 6: at the history of black people, history of black people
[46:15] Speaker 6: after elections, when we've had losses and we've had wins,
[46:19] Speaker 6: we still got to go to work. And so plus
[46:22] Speaker 6: a lot of people weren't sitting here going all, my goodness, Hey,
[46:25] Speaker 6: a lot of money from the campaign wasn't going into
[46:28] Speaker 6: black communities. No, what I was yelling and others were saying,
[46:31] Speaker 6: we have to protect black interests. And again, this to
[46:34] Speaker 6: me was a critical mistake of black leadership. There were
[46:39] Speaker 6: people who were just like, oh, my good I don't
[46:40] Speaker 6: know what to do. I don't know what to do.
[46:42] Speaker 6: I mean, look, it took Democrats in Congress nine months
[46:46] Speaker 6: to figure out a coherent message. And so I just
[46:50] Speaker 6: think that this is a perfect example where black leadership
[46:54] Speaker 6: has to understand when lose or draw, we stay active.
[46:59] Speaker 6: It's a three sixty five, seven day a week game
[47:03] Speaker 6: that we have to be focused on. And people were saying,
[47:06] Speaker 6: I want to do something, where do I go? And Khalil,
[47:08] Speaker 6: I'm just being straight up. A lot of black groups
[47:12] Speaker 6: took off the year and people were saying, what do
[47:15] Speaker 6: I do now? Theyre now have to get activated, and
[47:19] Speaker 6: now we have to rush. It's now May. We got June, July, August, September, October.
[47:25] Speaker 6: For the less, we got five months. That's what I'm saying.
[47:28] Speaker 6: That's on black leadership.
[47:32] Speaker 3: I can't disagree with you.
[47:33] Speaker 21: I know I got dismade and disheartened when all came
[47:36] Speaker 21: around last year, and I lived back, continued our calls,
[47:40] Speaker 21: but almost as only as much as we could and
[47:42] Speaker 21: the team that we had here. I don't disagree with
[47:45] Speaker 21: you on getting engaged over these next five months. So
[47:48] Speaker 21: you know, I'm one hundred percent in it with you.
[47:50] Speaker 21: Whether it's registering black men in communities, it doesn't matter
[47:54] Speaker 21: what side of the isle you on like in terms
[47:55] Speaker 21: of fraternity, non fraternity, blue collar, white collar, or no collar.
[47:59] Speaker 21: We're asking you to get out and show up in
[48:02] Speaker 21: your communities. So for me, and I'm taking heed from you,
[48:07] Speaker 21: our calls at women black men are going to be
[48:08] Speaker 21: every Sunday. Every Sunday at seven pm, we are going
[48:11] Speaker 21: to be galvanizing at least for an hour, bringing black
[48:14] Speaker 21: men together, sharing information, whether that's data from polling or
[48:17] Speaker 21: focus coups, whether that's Terrence Woodberry or Cornell Belcher or
[48:23] Speaker 21: others bringing information to us, or if that's Cameron Trimble
[48:27] Speaker 21: and Terrence Green providing what's happening on the digital other
[48:31] Speaker 21: paid media side, or organizers like Kiliff Albright and Quinton
[48:34] Speaker 21: James as well providing inside of what's happening on the ground.
[48:38] Speaker 21: We're also going to be highlighting black men who are
[48:40] Speaker 21: running for office. So tonight on our call, we have
[48:43] Speaker 21: hopefully Charles Booker is gonna enjoin running for US Senate
[48:45] Speaker 21: out of Kentucky. We've got Will Coloone, he's running for
[48:48] Speaker 21: usn out of Mississippi. We've got Chris Jones, who is
[48:53] Speaker 21: the Democratic nominee in Arkansas, Mike Blake who's running for
[48:57] Speaker 21: office in New York for congressional office in New York,
[49:00] Speaker 21: and then Robert White who's also running in DC. We've
[49:03] Speaker 21: got a couple of gubernatorial candidates out of Georgia, Jason
[49:07] Speaker 21: Stevez and Michael Thurman. And then there's a couple of
[49:10] Speaker 21: gubernatorial candidates coming out of Alabama, pastor Will Boyd, and
[49:15] Speaker 21: I'm blanking on the second one. So our opportunities to
[49:18] Speaker 21: make sure we're highlighting there's a dynamic brother who's running
[49:21] Speaker 21: for US in South Dakota so we want to make
[49:23] Speaker 21: sure the information is getting to the people and then
[49:25] Speaker 21: working to make sure we're organizing on the ground.
[49:28] Speaker 9: And so our summer.
[49:29] Speaker 21: Activities are going to be making sure we have civic
[49:31] Speaker 21: engagement programs running not only throughout the South, but in
[49:34] Speaker 21: communities that we want to do our work in. So
[49:37] Speaker 21: we're looking for partners, and we're looking for people who
[49:39] Speaker 21: are ready to step up, take on the mantle and
[49:41] Speaker 21: shoulder this burden and get the work done.
[49:42] Speaker 6: Yeah, well, also needs to happen.
[49:44] Speaker 3: He is.
[49:44] Speaker 6: You can have people on a call, but we also
[49:47] Speaker 6: have to look at critical states and when and when
[49:50] Speaker 6: and when I look at the map, when I look
[49:52] Speaker 6: at first of all, they're trying to gut every black
[49:54] Speaker 6: seat all across the South, and so people are fighting
[49:58] Speaker 6: on that front. The other front of this here when
[50:00] Speaker 6: you look at the United States Senate, who's gonna be
[50:02] Speaker 6: able to control the Senate? And I keep saying to
[50:04] Speaker 6: all these those simple simon yahoos, look y'all are nonpartisan.
[50:07] Speaker 6: That's fine, But here's the fact of the matter. Is
[50:09] Speaker 6: this here the Republican Party, there's a war on Black
[50:13] Speaker 6: America and control room. I don't understand why my graphic
[50:15] Speaker 6: is not on the damn screen like it was last night.
[50:18] Speaker 6: There's a war on Black America. That's what's going on
[50:20] Speaker 6: right now and what needs to be happening. Our people
[50:24] Speaker 6: need to be locked and loaded one hundred percent to
[50:27] Speaker 6: understand we ain't getting Jack from the Republican Party. I
[50:30] Speaker 6: may have Michael Harriet on a little bit later. With
[50:33] Speaker 6: Michael Harritt, we're gonna walk through Protect tween twenty five
[50:36] Speaker 6: and all of its anti blackness. And so I need
[50:38] Speaker 6: us to understand that the only pathway for black people
[50:41] Speaker 6: is Democratic Party. You can't say it, but I can
[50:44] Speaker 6: say it based upon the actions right now. I mean,
[50:48] Speaker 6: everybody listen to me. Right now, there's only one party
[50:51] Speaker 6: that is trying to decimate black political power. That's Republicans
[50:55] Speaker 6: in South Carolina, in Tennessee, in North Carolina, in South Carolina, Georgia,
[51:00] Speaker 6: in Florida, in Mississippi, in Alabama, in Texas, in Arkansas,
[51:06] Speaker 6: all throughout the South. That's what they're doing. And so
[51:09] Speaker 6: some of y'all can listen to Umar Johnson, and y'all
[51:12] Speaker 6: can listen with some of these other people. You can
[51:14] Speaker 6: listen to Steven A. Smith talk about all I wish
[51:16] Speaker 6: all of us with both were Republican. But the party
[51:19] Speaker 6: that is attacking everything black is the Republican Party. They
[51:24] Speaker 6: are the enemy of Black America.
[51:29] Speaker 3: You got no pushback from me.
[51:31] Speaker 21: I know our organization is nonpartiesan, but I vote Democrat
[51:34] Speaker 21: every single time I go into the ballot.
[51:36] Speaker 5: Does that mean it's perfect?
[51:37] Speaker 3: No?
[51:38] Speaker 21: Does that mean I want to hold them accountable? I
[51:39] Speaker 21: think you said something really tremendous at the beginning of
[51:42] Speaker 21: the segment where we lean back.
[51:44] Speaker 5: I don't.
[51:44] Speaker 21: I'm gonna hold as I said in twenty twenty four,
[51:46] Speaker 21: this is a job interview for that people are applying for.
[51:49] Speaker 21: And if you're not meeting the grade and you're not
[51:51] Speaker 21: doing the work, then we've got to replace you and
[51:52] Speaker 21: find somebody else who will get the job done.
[51:55] Speaker 3: But we shouldn't row out.
[51:56] Speaker 21: The baby with the bath water and make sure we're
[51:59] Speaker 21: trying to find all these new brand of candidates. I
[52:01] Speaker 21: think there are amazing people who are running for office
[52:03] Speaker 21: right now, but we've got to make sure that they're
[52:05] Speaker 21: protecting and motivating our interest and believing in what's best
[52:09] Speaker 21: for the black community. I disagree with all of those
[52:12] Speaker 21: who say my vote doesn't matter. My daughter has less
[52:15] Speaker 21: rights than her mother did. She has less rights than
[52:18] Speaker 21: her grandmother does or did when she was her age.
[52:22] Speaker 21: That is an amazing feat to say. So, I want
[52:26] Speaker 21: people to understand this isn't hyperbolic, This isn't you know,
[52:29] Speaker 21: as we've said over the last couple of election cycles,
[52:31] Speaker 21: the most important election, this truly is the most important
[52:35] Speaker 21: election in your lifetime. If you do not go out
[52:39] Speaker 21: and vote, you have set a clear message to the
[52:41] Speaker 21: six y three decision on the Supreme Court that it
[52:43] Speaker 21: says that vote, they don't really vote, So it really
[52:46] Speaker 21: doesn't matter. They can gerrymander us all that they want.
[52:49] Speaker 21: They can make out these districts. We have zero representation.
[52:53] Speaker 21: And so the people that you want to have fixing
[52:56] Speaker 21: your potholes or your streets, making legislation that may or
[53:00] Speaker 21: may not have data centers, come into your communities, that
[53:03] Speaker 21: have good education for your children, that have free childcare,
[53:07] Speaker 21: all of that starts to go away if you do
[53:09] Speaker 21: not participate in the political process.
[53:12] Speaker 6: All right, So tonight's call starts at what time.
[53:16] Speaker 5: Eight thirty pm Eastern?
[53:18] Speaker 21: Go to wind with black Men dot org join the
[53:20] Speaker 21: Tuesday Call, or you can scan the QR code right
[53:23] Speaker 21: on your screen. Right now again eight thirty pm Eastern,
[53:26] Speaker 21: we are going to go to eleven o'clock Eastern tonight.
[53:29] Speaker 21: We are going to break down Louisiana versus Calai. We
[53:32] Speaker 21: have a dynamic brother from the Legal Defense Fund, we
[53:35] Speaker 21: have a few of our civil rights leaders.
[53:38] Speaker 3: We've got some folks.
[53:39] Speaker 5: My son, the General out.
[53:40] Speaker 21: Of New York is going to be on Isaiah Martin.
[53:42] Speaker 21: We've got candidates who are running. And then we've got
[53:45] Speaker 21: brothers on the ground. Emil Washington is in Louisiana in
[53:48] Speaker 21: Baton Rouge right now. We've got Mayor Randall Woodfin and
[53:52] Speaker 21: others who are going to be calling from Alabama as
[53:55] Speaker 21: they're in their state legislature. We're working to get Justin
[53:58] Speaker 21: Pearson on in Tennessee. We have justin Love State presented
[54:04] Speaker 21: Justin Love in Tennessee that's going to join us as well.
[54:07] Speaker 21: And then I think we are going over to I'm
[54:09] Speaker 21: leaving out one more state, but we're gonna hear from
[54:11] Speaker 21: folks on the ground doing the work, okay and really
[54:15] Speaker 21: leading the efforts.
[54:16] Speaker 6: All right, clud Thompson, well Sally appreciate it. Thanks a lot,
[54:19] Speaker 6: Thanks brother, folks. To the next hour, we're gonna hear
[54:21] Speaker 6: from Bishop William Barber. Go to my website, my iPad Anthony.
[54:25] Speaker 6: We talked about this last night, what Bishop Barber is doing.
[54:27] Speaker 6: They're gonna be holding a national virtual training. He's calling
[54:30] Speaker 6: on black men and black women who want to be
[54:32] Speaker 6: trained to organize the mobilized with black voters. If you
[54:34] Speaker 6: go to Blackstar network dot com, click this particular link here,
[54:38] Speaker 6: we'll take you to this page and then you'll be
[54:40] Speaker 6: able to actually click the Black Men Civic Engagement link
[54:43] Speaker 6: right there to actually sign up. Now if you also, now,
[54:47] Speaker 6: if you don't want to do that, listen, this is
[54:49] Speaker 6: the QR code. Just point your fiend to the phone
[54:52] Speaker 6: to the screen. This is the cure code, will take
[54:54] Speaker 6: you right to the page. Again. We started this by
[54:57] Speaker 6: initially calling for one thousand hourphus. We've almost at our goal.
[55:00] Speaker 6: Then we expanded that to other black men. Then a
[55:03] Speaker 6: lot of a bunch of sisters with emailing, so we
[55:04] Speaker 6: added sisters as well. This is about training people to
[55:07] Speaker 6: organize and mobilize. It's one thing to say, oh my goodness,
[55:11] Speaker 6: we need people out there doing the work, but you
[55:12] Speaker 6: gotta be trained in doing the work. It's come back
[55:15] Speaker 6: to my panel Nicole, I want to start with you. Listen,
[55:19] Speaker 6: I'm being straight up. I was pissed off last year.
[55:21] Speaker 6: I think black leadership sat on their asses. I thought
[55:24] Speaker 6: too many black organizations were quiet. I thought they were
[55:27] Speaker 6: having internal conversations. I thought there were too many black people,
[55:30] Speaker 6: especially in millennials and gen Z and Jen Alpha, who
[55:33] Speaker 6: was sitting there going, oh my god, I'm tired. Oh
[55:35] Speaker 6: my god, I'm tired. It's just we had to do
[55:38] Speaker 6: so much work. And I'm like, they sound like a
[55:41] Speaker 6: bunch of whiny asses. And yeah, and I said it
[55:43] Speaker 6: then and I'll say it now because we were yelling
[55:46] Speaker 6: and screaming on this show every single damn day. Yo,
[55:50] Speaker 6: y'all need to see what is coming. And too many
[55:53] Speaker 6: black folks took it easy and they said, we're gonna
[55:56] Speaker 6: sit this one out. We're gonna see what we will.
[55:59] Speaker 6: Let y'all what y'all do. And I was sitting there going,
[56:01] Speaker 6: hell no, because I knew who was on the menu,
[56:04] Speaker 6: and it was black people who was on the menu.
[56:09] Speaker 3: Exactly.
[56:10] Speaker 19: And we knew that even before President Trump was elected.
[56:13] Speaker 19: Kamala Harris tried to warn us about Project Tween twenty
[56:16] Speaker 19: five so many times, but nobody took it seriously. In fact,
[56:20] Speaker 19: black voters turned out for President Trump, and then after
[56:23] Speaker 19: he started delivering on Project tween twenty five, people want
[56:26] Speaker 19: to start acting surprise.
[56:27] Speaker 5: Like we didn't know that was going to happen.
[56:29] Speaker 19: And it's unfortunate too, because once we saw that federal
[56:32] Speaker 19: workers were starting to get fired, that he was launching
[56:34] Speaker 19: all of these executive orders against d E and I
[56:37] Speaker 19: that should have at least should have been the starting
[56:40] Speaker 19: point for people to get activated and recognize that something
[56:42] Speaker 19: worse was going to happen.
[56:44] Speaker 5: But it took us up until this point, up.
[56:46] Speaker 19: Until the Supreme Court said that black votes don't matter
[56:49] Speaker 19: for people to start paying attention.
[56:52] Speaker 20: But I mean, my hope for the future is.
[56:54] Speaker 19: That people stay activated and they don't get distracted by
[56:57] Speaker 19: shootings and discussions about ballrooms and all the other things
[57:00] Speaker 19: that Trump is trying to distract us with, and that
[57:02] Speaker 19: we stay mobilized and get ready.
[57:05] Speaker 20: For this fight in November.
[57:06] Speaker 6: And Randy, here's the deal. What I kept saying to
[57:08] Speaker 6: people is I don't want to hear this crap. They're like, oh, man,
[57:11] Speaker 6: you should be going there.
[57:12] Speaker 1: Uh.
[57:13] Speaker 6: And then and then you also had too many negroes
[57:15] Speaker 6: who man, they calling me a shield, you should say,
[57:18] Speaker 6: may go tell them to kiss your ass. I mean
[57:20] Speaker 6: politics is politics, And when you look at the map
[57:23] Speaker 6: is real simple. There are there are There are two
[57:25] Speaker 6: parties in Congress, Democrats and Republicans. There are two United
[57:28] Speaker 6: States Senators who are registered independence and knew what they do.
[57:31] Speaker 6: They caucus with the Democrat. So I'm like, I'm not
[57:33] Speaker 6: sitting here having this philosophical uh discussion about oh, because
[57:39] Speaker 6: guess what I ain't seeing Jill Stott issue a goddamn
[57:43] Speaker 6: statement after the Supreme Court decision with the VR. We
[57:46] Speaker 6: ain't seeing high ass. And so this is what I'm
[57:48] Speaker 6: talking about. This is listen when I say this is war,
[57:52] Speaker 6: this is war. What these people want to do they
[57:55] Speaker 6: want to lock in white power for the next fifty
[57:58] Speaker 6: to one hundred years. And I need a gen Z
[58:01] Speaker 6: and a Jen Alpha to understand they want to put
[58:05] Speaker 6: They want Alito and Thomas to retire this year so
[58:08] Speaker 6: they can replace them with a Supreme Court justice who's
[58:11] Speaker 6: forty or forty two years Clarence Thomas. This week will
[58:15] Speaker 6: has hit the mark as the second longest serving Supreme
[58:18] Speaker 6: Court justice in American history. He was appointed when I
[58:23] Speaker 6: was in college, and so folk need to understand this
[58:28] Speaker 6: ain't no game. They know what they're doing, and they
[58:32] Speaker 6: are trying to say, yeah, we're gonna lock y'all out
[58:35] Speaker 6: for another one hundred years. Damn what y'all accomplished the
[58:38] Speaker 6: last sixty.
[58:41] Speaker 18: Right, you know, It's like people in the middle of
[58:44] Speaker 18: a gunfight when I have a conversation about the legality
[58:47] Speaker 18: of guns.
[58:48] Speaker 5: We're in the fight.
[58:49] Speaker 18: They're shooting us right now, So we cannot have a
[58:52] Speaker 18: philosophical conversation about guns.
[58:54] Speaker 5: Maybe after we get through this and we survive.
[58:57] Speaker 18: And so that is what's been happening right now, is
[59:00] Speaker 18: that you have these detractors who are saying, I don't
[59:02] Speaker 18: believe in the two party system, and you know, people
[59:06] Speaker 18: like Jill Stein, who we only hear from once every
[59:08] Speaker 18: four years.
[59:09] Speaker 5: Like where is she? She doesn't show up whatsoever, And
[59:12] Speaker 5: they want to have these conversations.
[59:14] Speaker 18: And I always tell people, we have to function as
[59:17] Speaker 18: it exists right now, and there are two parties that
[59:19] Speaker 18: have a chance of winning. And let me tell you
[59:21] Speaker 18: which one, as we keep saying, is not attacking purposefully,
[59:25] Speaker 18: strategically and unfortunately, very effectively black people.
[59:30] Speaker 5: We've got to get on it.
[59:31] Speaker 18: And when you talk about the Supreme Court, I don't
[59:33] Speaker 18: think people understand are hopefully they're seeing right now sadly,
[59:38] Speaker 18: the power that the.
[59:39] Speaker 5: Supreme Court has.
[59:40] Speaker 18: And it's not every four year thing. I think they're
[59:43] Speaker 18: in their an average of twenty eight years. They're there
[59:45] Speaker 18: a long time, and so when they're in there, they
[59:49] Speaker 18: completely set up the way we live. Since in this
[59:52] Speaker 18: short time and what I would call Trump's Supreme Court,
[59:57] Speaker 18: women have lost their rights.
[59:58] Speaker 5: Black people have lost they're right.
[1:00:00] Speaker 18: Anyone who considers themselves an immigrant have lost rights. It
[1:00:05] Speaker 18: has been set up essentially to give white men all
[1:00:11] Speaker 18: the power in the world that they already didn't have,
[1:00:14] Speaker 18: right because they were suffering that they already did not right.
[1:00:18] Speaker 13: It is a yes.
[1:00:21] Speaker 6: Well, the thing for me mustaf is this year it's
[1:00:25] Speaker 6: a lot of black organizations who all of a sudden
[1:00:27] Speaker 6: are sending out fundraising emails. I ain't having them on
[1:00:32] Speaker 6: the show. My old deal is if you ain't been
[1:00:36] Speaker 6: out here doing work I'm talking about on the groundwork,
[1:00:39] Speaker 6: I'm sorry, don't come talk to me right now. And
[1:00:42] Speaker 6: this is my problem, this is the problem that I
[1:00:44] Speaker 6: have been talking about, and matter of fact, the book
[1:00:46] Speaker 6: that I'm working on speaks to this black people. I
[1:00:49] Speaker 6: heard it all across the country. I've heard this across
[1:00:53] Speaker 6: the country the last twenty years, but I really heard
[1:00:56] Speaker 6: it last year. Yo, ro what we're gonna do, What
[1:00:58] Speaker 6: we're gonna do, what's the plane? How we're gonna fight back?
[1:01:01] Speaker 6: Who's leading? Where our organizational leaders, and many of them
[1:01:05] Speaker 6: were silent as hell, Scared to protest, scared to say anything,
[1:01:10] Speaker 6: Scared to do anything because they might lose their corporate
[1:01:13] Speaker 6: funding to the folks who will hold it on to
[1:01:15] Speaker 6: their DEI money. It was like, I ain't saying nothing.
[1:01:18] Speaker 6: I ain't gonna say nothing. We're gonna lose them chicks.
[1:01:20] Speaker 6: That's what was going on there. And now all of
[1:01:22] Speaker 6: a sudden, we're about to see a third of the
[1:01:25] Speaker 6: congression of Black Caucus wiped out, No, almost half the
[1:01:28] Speaker 6: coression of Black Caucus wiped out. We're about to see
[1:01:30] Speaker 6: state legislators, county commissioner, city council of school board members,
[1:01:33] Speaker 6: you name it wiped out. And so I'm going, oh, now,
[1:01:36] Speaker 6: y'all want to get involved? What have I been saying
[1:01:38] Speaker 6: for the longest. We gotta be sitting here informing, educating, enlightening,
[1:01:42] Speaker 6: and empowering our voters every single day. You don't wait
[1:01:46] Speaker 6: till November. You do it the year before, and you
[1:01:48] Speaker 6: do it the whole year, and then come January. Between
[1:01:51] Speaker 6: January and the primary, you again have a strategy there.
[1:01:55] Speaker 6: Then you're getting them. Then you're getting them registered. And
[1:01:58] Speaker 6: then once you get them registered, when is the lastinated registered?
[1:02:01] Speaker 6: And then when his early voting started? How do we
[1:02:03] Speaker 6: get them to the polls? How are we driving them there?
[1:02:05] Speaker 6: Let's call a strategy. I'm like, lit's stop waiting and
[1:02:08] Speaker 6: hoping and see here shows up. Black people have been
[1:02:11] Speaker 6: saying where are leaders and where's the plan? And too
[1:02:15] Speaker 6: many folks been sitting, they ass down, chilling, popping their fans,
[1:02:19] Speaker 6: what are fans at? And doing boots on the ground
[1:02:21] Speaker 6: as opposed to doing the real work.
[1:02:25] Speaker 10: Well, you know, we've often utilized the quote that all
[1:02:28] Speaker 10: skin folks and kidfolk, and sometimes they actually are the
[1:02:32] Speaker 10: ones that are in leadership inside of many of our organizations.
[1:02:35] Speaker 22: So we need to be very honest about that. We
[1:02:38] Speaker 22: need to also be very honest.
[1:02:40] Speaker 10: You know, we got a whole lot of people who
[1:02:41] Speaker 10: like to talk a good game, but when it comes
[1:02:43] Speaker 10: time to doing the work, they don't show up. They're
[1:02:46] Speaker 10: not at protests, they're not at strategy meetings. You know,
[1:02:49] Speaker 10: they're busy having corporate conversations. And yes, I understand you
[1:02:52] Speaker 10: got to keep the lights on in your organizations, but
[1:02:54] Speaker 10: your organization's got to be doing something to make sure
[1:02:57] Speaker 10: that it is protecting and uplifting black folks. And if not,
[1:03:00] Speaker 10: then we don't need your organization or we don't need
[1:03:02] Speaker 10: your leadership in this moment. Let's be very clear that
[1:03:06] Speaker 10: what we see currently going on is not something that
[1:03:09] Speaker 10: just started over the last few years. You can go
[1:03:11] Speaker 10: all the way back to New Gingridge and those folks
[1:03:14] Speaker 10: and the strategies that they were putting in place to
[1:03:16] Speaker 10: be able to revamp the government, to make sure that
[1:03:20] Speaker 10: various laws that were part of the social safety net
[1:03:23] Speaker 10: were weakened.
[1:03:24] Speaker 22: And you're seeing all that play out now. So we
[1:03:27] Speaker 22: have to get engaged.
[1:03:29] Speaker 10: We have to make sure, as we've talked about since
[1:03:31] Speaker 10: the first day I came on this show, that we
[1:03:33] Speaker 10: have to make sure that we're understanding the power that
[1:03:35] Speaker 10: exists inside of the courts and making sure that we
[1:03:37] Speaker 10: are making sure that there are judges who are there
[1:03:40] Speaker 10: who will make sure there's real equality and how the
[1:03:43] Speaker 10: law is being implemented and how it is being evaluated.
[1:03:47] Speaker 10: We got to make sure that there are folks are
[1:03:50] Speaker 10: sitting in these seats of power inside of governments from
[1:03:52] Speaker 10: the local level all the way up to the federal level,
[1:03:54] Speaker 10: who have control over grants and contracts that they're coming
[1:03:57] Speaker 10: back to our communities. We got to make sure sure
[1:04:00] Speaker 10: that folks can actually afford a house, that folks can
[1:04:02] Speaker 10: make sure that they're eating clean and save food, that
[1:04:05] Speaker 10: they breathe clean air. All these things are a part
[1:04:08] Speaker 10: of the strategy that we have to be supportive of
[1:04:11] Speaker 10: and if somebody wants our vote, that they're willing to
[1:04:13] Speaker 10: stand up for along with make sure that you're protecting
[1:04:15] Speaker 10: voting rights and a number of other types of things.
[1:04:18] Speaker 10: But that means that people got to get up off
[1:04:20] Speaker 10: the couch every day. Folks got to get up off
[1:04:22] Speaker 10: the couch. The folks who are leading our organizations got
[1:04:25] Speaker 10: to get up off the couch. Because you can't lean
[1:04:28] Speaker 10: back and ever make progress. You can only make progress
[1:04:31] Speaker 10: when you lean forward.
[1:04:33] Speaker 6: Absolutely all right, y'all. So it's been very interesting last night.
[1:04:37] Speaker 6: We talked about some comments Steven asbith Bade on Cam
[1:04:40] Speaker 6: Newton's podcast saying that he wished that black people would
[1:04:44] Speaker 6: all vote Republican. Let me play that again for you.
[1:04:48] Speaker 23: I wish for one election that every black person would
[1:04:54] Speaker 23: vote Republican.
[1:04:57] Speaker 6: How can you say that, I said, It's simple.
[1:05:02] Speaker 23: Since nineteen sixty four, the black people, black folks, we
[1:05:06] Speaker 23: have been giving our vote to the Democratic Party at
[1:05:09] Speaker 23: an exorbitant rate. Therefore, they know they got our vote
[1:05:13] Speaker 23: and they don't have to cater to us as much
[1:05:15] Speaker 23: as we need them to. The Republicans know they'll never
[1:05:18] Speaker 23: get our vote, so they don't give a damn about us,
[1:05:22] Speaker 23: and as a result, we're the only community in America
[1:05:24] Speaker 23: devoid of representation, which is why we're considered disenfranchised.
[1:05:29] Speaker 6: I'm tired of that.
[1:05:30] Speaker 23: What I want is to put ourselves as a community
[1:05:35] Speaker 23: in a position where both parties have to work to
[1:05:39] Speaker 23: get our vote.
[1:05:40] Speaker 9: Can I ask you this, do you think you covering
[1:05:43] Speaker 9: politics like you cover politics in.
[1:05:46] Speaker 3: The words of your mans?
[1:05:48] Speaker 6: Is that good for business?
[1:05:49] Speaker 3: Your business? It has the.
[1:05:53] Speaker 6: Steven A. Swiss said, we're the only group the voter representation.
[1:05:58] Speaker 6: That's a lie. I literally have no idea what the
[1:06:00] Speaker 6: hell he's talking about. Like, literally, is Governor Wes Moore
[1:06:08] Speaker 6: not black in Maryland is Don Scott. The Speaker of
[1:06:13] Speaker 6: the House of Virginia not black is Louise Lucas. The
[1:06:16] Speaker 6: Senate pro tem not black is Lieutenant governor of Illinois
[1:06:19] Speaker 6: not black. You've got fifty members of the Congresion of
[1:06:22] Speaker 6: Black Caucus in Congress. You have Vice President Kamala Harrison.
[1:06:25] Speaker 3: Is she not black?
[1:06:27] Speaker 6: We can go on and on and on. You've got
[1:06:29] Speaker 6: lieutenant governor right now in Michigan. You've got a black
[1:06:32] Speaker 6: attorney general in Nevada, a black attorney general in Maryland,
[1:06:37] Speaker 6: a black attorney general in Massachusetts, a black attorney general
[1:06:41] Speaker 6: in New York State, a black attorney general in Illinois.
[1:06:45] Speaker 6: What the hell is he talking about? We are devoided representation. Now.
[1:06:51] Speaker 6: If you're saying that there are four black Republicans, yeah,
[1:06:54] Speaker 6: but guess what, all four of them gonna be gone
[1:06:55] Speaker 6: come January. But this is what I this is why.
[1:07:00] Speaker 6: So we have Michael Harriett found on the country band
[1:07:02] Speaker 6: camp on last night. We brought him back tonight because
[1:07:05] Speaker 6: I saw Umar Johnson, I saw see these other black
[1:07:08] Speaker 6: conservits like that's right, Steve Day's right, Stephen Ay right,
[1:07:11] Speaker 6: because this notion is that, oh that if we voted Republican.
[1:07:19] Speaker 6: If we voted Republican, then they would listen to us
[1:07:25] Speaker 6: and start doing what we desire. I find that to
[1:07:29] Speaker 6: be nonsensical. So I called Michael and I said, Michael,
[1:07:36] Speaker 6: let's actually walk people through what the Republicans said they
[1:07:41] Speaker 6: were going to do to black people in twenty twenty four.
[1:07:45] Speaker 6: Matter of fact, not even twenty twenty four, because Jonathans,
[1:07:48] Speaker 6: Wayne and Axios dropped the story in twenty twenty one.
[1:07:51] Speaker 6: They were preparing product twenty twenty five, so they started
[1:07:54] Speaker 6: twenty twenty one. So Michael Harrett joins us right now.
[1:07:57] Speaker 6: So Michael, let's go ahead and get started. So since
[1:08:00] Speaker 6: all of these people are saying, yay, Stephen A is
[1:08:03] Speaker 6: rioting if only, if only we could vote Republican, they're
[1:08:06] Speaker 6: gonna start listening to us. Michael, please illuminate for people
[1:08:11] Speaker 6: and remind people what Republicans actually said that they were
[1:08:17] Speaker 6: going to do if they regained power as it relates
[1:08:22] Speaker 6: to black people.
[1:08:26] Speaker 24: So the first thing we have to know is that
[1:08:30] Speaker 24: from the beginning, even before twenty twenty, the Republicans had
[1:08:34] Speaker 24: a dream. Their biggest dream was to repeal the Voting
[1:08:37] Speaker 24: Rights Act. That's why John Roberts was a Supreme Court nominee.
[1:08:42] Speaker 24: That's how he got on the Supreme Court. That was
[1:08:45] Speaker 24: his mission to repeal the Voting Rights Act. In twenty thirteen,
[1:08:50] Speaker 24: I interviewed the gentleman who was the Congress the counsulman
[1:08:55] Speaker 24: who they were trying to get out of his county seat,
[1:08:59] Speaker 24: and that became Shelby versus Holder, right, And that was
[1:09:05] Speaker 24: their first step, right, That was the first step to
[1:09:08] Speaker 24: eliminating the Voting Rights Act. When Trump got elected and
[1:09:13] Speaker 24: when Trump ran in twenty twenty one, what did he promise? Right?
[1:09:17] Speaker 5: He was going to get rid of affirmative Action. He
[1:09:20] Speaker 5: was going to, you know, bring back what was.
[1:09:24] Speaker 24: Called the National Origins Formula, which was essentially a race
[1:09:28] Speaker 24: based quota system for immigration. He promised all of this
[1:09:33] Speaker 24: black stuff. And apparently in two thousand twenty steven A.
[1:09:40] Speaker 24: Smith thought that's who he was voted for. And it's
[1:09:43] Speaker 24: important to know that I went and attended a lecture
[1:09:46] Speaker 24: at the University of Alabama, Birmingham in twenty thirteen, and
[1:09:49] Speaker 24: Stephen A.
[1:09:50] Speaker 5: Smith was saying the same stuff.
[1:09:51] Speaker 16: Right.
[1:09:52] Speaker 5: So if Stephen A.
[1:09:53] Speaker 24: Smith had his wish, every black person in America would
[1:09:56] Speaker 24: have voted for Donald Trump.
[1:09:58] Speaker 5: Right, that's what you begin with.
[1:10:00] Speaker 24: Every black person in America would have empowered this white
[1:10:03] Speaker 24: nationalist that we wanted.
[1:10:06] Speaker 5: And when Donald Trump was kicked out of.
[1:10:11] Speaker 24: Office by Joe Biden, he went even further right, Steve
[1:10:15] Speaker 24: Natesmith said, that's what we would have we should have
[1:10:17] Speaker 24: voted for. But what did he say he was going
[1:10:19] Speaker 24: to do. He said he was going to get rid
[1:10:21] Speaker 24: of DEI. He said he was going to get rid
[1:10:23] Speaker 24: of Affirmative Action. He said he was going to get
[1:10:25] Speaker 24: do get rid of all of this what he called
[1:10:28] Speaker 24: divisive rhetoric about teaching black history. He said, we weren't
[1:10:32] Speaker 24: going to be talking about race. He said he was
[1:10:35] Speaker 24: going to make give drug dealers the death.
[1:10:39] Speaker 5: Penalty, right.
[1:10:40] Speaker 24: He said he was going to create these camps for
[1:10:43] Speaker 24: homeless people. He said he was going to repeal every
[1:10:47] Speaker 24: equality that we had in the housing sector. Right, and
[1:10:53] Speaker 24: on the first day in office he did it. Here's
[1:10:56] Speaker 24: the thing that we have to understand, right, you know,
[1:10:58] Speaker 24: I know, we said, people like Lumar Johnson and Steven A.
[1:11:02] Speaker 24: Smith who don't know history, like to think that we
[1:11:04] Speaker 24: started voting republican in the Civil Rights era.
[1:11:08] Speaker 5: But that's not true.
[1:11:10] Speaker 24: As you showed from the data I sent you last night.
[1:11:13] Speaker 24: It began way before that because black people identified with
[1:11:17] Speaker 24: the Republican Party in the nineteen thirties, but when it came.
[1:11:20] Speaker 5: To president, they voted for FDR. Why did they do that? Well,
[1:11:24] Speaker 5: in nineteen forty one, FDR.
[1:11:30] Speaker 24: Asked Mary McLeod un to get her the smartest black
[1:11:34] Speaker 24: people he could find. One of them, a Harvard University
[1:11:38] Speaker 24: professor named Rayford Logan, vote the Executive Order AD eight
[1:11:43] Speaker 24: h two that desegregated the defense industry. That caused the
[1:11:47] Speaker 24: great vibration. Right, And so because we got the president
[1:11:52] Speaker 24: to do what we wanted, we identified as Republican but
[1:11:55] Speaker 24: voted for a Democratic president.
[1:11:58] Speaker 5: That began the move move toward the Democratic Party.
[1:12:01] Speaker 24: And black people did not necessarily flock toward the Democratic Party.
[1:12:06] Speaker 5: What happened was.
[1:12:07] Speaker 24: White people flopped away from the Democratic Party when they
[1:12:12] Speaker 24: began giving us our voting rights.
[1:12:16] Speaker 5: It started with the desegregation of the military.
[1:12:19] Speaker 6: So, Michael, you're saying, Michael, you're saying that when black
[1:12:22] Speaker 6: people just like into a neighborhood, when black people start
[1:12:26] Speaker 6: going to a party, white people run the other.
[1:12:29] Speaker 24: Way, right, And and that's when So again, if you
[1:12:34] Speaker 24: look at the data. We voted for president after for
[1:12:38] Speaker 24: a Democratic president. After FDR, white people began flocking away
[1:12:44] Speaker 24: from the Democratic president. And when George McGovern ran because
[1:12:49] Speaker 24: he ran on all of these racist dog whistles, right,
[1:12:52] Speaker 24: and then no.
[1:12:53] Speaker 6: No, no, no, I'm sorry, George Wallace ran under racist
[1:12:58] Speaker 6: dog whistles. You said, George mcgoverny, go ahead, I'm.
[1:13:01] Speaker 24: Sorry, I'm sorry, and George Wallace ran toward the on
[1:13:05] Speaker 24: the racist dog Wilson. Remember, the first thing strom Thurman
[1:13:10] Speaker 24: did when he switched from the Democratic Party to the
[1:13:12] Speaker 24: Republican Party is what we know now.
[1:13:14] Speaker 5: He went to the FBI at office and said that
[1:13:18] Speaker 5: I want you to open a case against this man
[1:13:21] Speaker 5: named Martin Luther King Junior. That's why they sent Martin
[1:13:25] Speaker 5: Luther King that letter telling him to kill himself. Stephen A.
[1:13:30] Speaker 25: Smith wants us to vote for that party, right, it's
[1:13:34] Speaker 25: absolutely insane, aside from the lack of logic, that we
[1:13:38] Speaker 25: shouldn't give our votes to the Democratic Party, but we
[1:13:41] Speaker 25: should give our votes to Republican Party who has demonstrated
[1:13:45] Speaker 25: their opposition to our progress.
[1:13:47] Speaker 5: It doesn't make any historical sense.
[1:13:51] Speaker 6: So when we talk about so to your point, when
[1:13:54] Speaker 6: you talk about because you mentioned housing, and again, this
[1:13:58] Speaker 6: is what I need. All these people, all these people
[1:14:02] Speaker 6: who keep saying, uh yeah, we vote Republican, then they
[1:14:07] Speaker 6: gonna listen to us, and you just lay our housing.
[1:14:09] Speaker 6: Go to my iPad. Pro Publica did a story, Donald
[1:14:12] Speaker 6: Trump shut down. Go to my iPad. Go to my iPad.
[1:14:19] Speaker 6: Donald Trump shut down an investigation of Pro Publica. A
[1:14:24] Speaker 6: propaker did a story. It was a hood investigation of
[1:14:27] Speaker 6: racism among the Dallas Hoa. Donald Trump said, Nah, we
[1:14:32] Speaker 6: ain't doing that. Black people in Cancer Alley, Louisi and
[1:14:37] Speaker 6: Louisiana were protesting and we're suing. We're suing what was
[1:14:41] Speaker 6: taking place there where they were dying because the Patrick
[1:14:44] Speaker 6: chemical plants. Donald Trump pulled out of that lawsuit, saying
[1:14:49] Speaker 6: it was a DEI lawsuit. Lownes County, Alabama, black people
[1:14:53] Speaker 6: had sewage that was flooding into their homes in backyards,
[1:14:57] Speaker 6: and the Biden has administration negotiated settlement. Donald Trump saying,
[1:15:01] Speaker 6: now that's a DEI settlement. We walked through numerous times
[1:15:06] Speaker 6: where Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans have completely shut things down,
[1:15:12] Speaker 6: discrimination cases, education Department, They pretty much wiped out civil
[1:15:18] Speaker 6: rights offices they're not investigating anything the Department of Justice,
[1:15:22] Speaker 6: they're not investigating any police officers of wrongdoing. So I'm
[1:15:26] Speaker 6: just trying to understand, Michael, where these people are coming
[1:15:30] Speaker 6: from when they think that Republicans are going to all
[1:15:34] Speaker 6: of a sudden start embracing a black agenda.
[1:15:39] Speaker 24: Right when, first of all, to what you said, right,
[1:15:42] Speaker 24: you know, I wrote about I read the entire Project
[1:15:46] Speaker 24: twenty twenty five. One of the things that Project twenty
[1:15:49] Speaker 24: twenty five said, and it's broken down by federal agents, right,
[1:15:53] Speaker 24: And what Project twenty twenty five proposed was that he
[1:15:56] Speaker 24: get rid of the Office of Civil Rights every federal agency.
[1:16:01] Speaker 24: People don't know that there's an Office of Civil Rights,
[1:16:03] Speaker 24: not just in dh DJ but in the HHS. Well,
[1:16:07] Speaker 24: all of that is reflected in his twenty twenty seven budget.
[1:16:11] Speaker 24: We published a report today that went line by line
[1:16:15] Speaker 24: through his latest federal budget that he's proposing for twenty
[1:16:18] Speaker 24: twenty seven.
[1:16:19] Speaker 5: He wants to get rid of the DHS Office of.
[1:16:23] Speaker 24: Civil Rights, Right, he wants to get rid of he
[1:16:25] Speaker 24: wants to build make Alcatraz, and to spend one hundred
[1:16:30] Speaker 24: one point seven billion dollars to remake Alcatraz into what
[1:16:34] Speaker 24: is essentially a concentration camp.
[1:16:36] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:16:36] Speaker 5: He wants to defund black farmers.
[1:16:39] Speaker 24: Right, there was a grant that gave three hundred million
[1:16:43] Speaker 24: dollars to black farmers who are at risk of losing
[1:16:46] Speaker 24: their land. He has already proposed in his budget to
[1:16:50] Speaker 24: get rid of that program, and he wants to get
[1:16:52] Speaker 24: rid of forty nine of those fifty grands. Well, who
[1:16:56] Speaker 24: you know got the fiftieth of those grants?
[1:16:59] Speaker 5: A white man profit organization. Right.
[1:17:01] Speaker 24: And so what we have to understand is not just
[1:17:05] Speaker 24: like the rhetoric of this slick talking sophistry that Stephen A.
[1:17:09] Speaker 24: Smith likes to put on YouTube, right, but we have
[1:17:11] Speaker 24: to understand what the fats are.
[1:17:14] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:17:14] Speaker 24: If those people, if the Republican Party, that white nationalist Party,
[1:17:19] Speaker 24: actually wanted to compete.
[1:17:20] Speaker 5: For our vote, they could have done it.
[1:17:23] Speaker 24: They talked all last campaign season about how they're going
[1:17:26] Speaker 24: to attract black men, but they didn't demonstrate it with
[1:17:30] Speaker 24: any actual policies, right, it.
[1:17:33] Speaker 5: Was just something that they said.
[1:17:34] Speaker 24: And so we have to understand the difference between people
[1:17:38] Speaker 24: who just talk about things on the internet, like Steven A. Smith,
[1:17:42] Speaker 24: who is a great entertainer, and someone who's actually studied
[1:17:49] Speaker 24: and don't think that they're smarter than my grandmama and
[1:17:52] Speaker 24: our ancestors and all of the black people who ever lived,
[1:17:56] Speaker 24: who vote the policies and study the issues and didn't
[1:17:59] Speaker 24: go on ESPN and talk about sports and the cowboys,
[1:18:03] Speaker 24: but actually new history and politics and things that only
[1:18:08] Speaker 24: appear in books.
[1:18:09] Speaker 6: And see, my thing is this year to me, this
[1:18:11] Speaker 6: segment is not even about Steven. And I just use
[1:18:13] Speaker 6: this clip. But see it's a lot of these people
[1:18:15] Speaker 6: who say the same thing. So are you're a liberal slave?
[1:18:19] Speaker 6: You're on the plantation. We ain't gotten nothing from Democrats
[1:18:22] Speaker 6: in sixty years. They haven't gotten We've done nothing nothing.
[1:18:25] Speaker 6: It's like, I mean, they can and I sit here
[1:18:28] Speaker 6: and go, okay, can y'all please tell me the five
[1:18:33] Speaker 6: issues on a black agenda that Democrats don't support a
[1:18:39] Speaker 6: Republicans do support, they never are able to do so.
[1:18:44] Speaker 6: So what happens, Michael, is that these are the phrases Steven,
[1:18:48] Speaker 6: they use one of them, they pay us lip service? Okay,
[1:18:52] Speaker 6: what does that mean? Or they ain't done nothing for us?
[1:18:57] Speaker 6: But Michael, here's the crazy thing. It ain't Black people
[1:19:01] Speaker 6: what have been non critical of Democrats. It ain't like
[1:19:04] Speaker 6: we ain't said, y'all ain't doing enough. Like that's what's
[1:19:07] Speaker 6: so stupid. I ain't running to nobody Black saying, you know, Roland,
[1:19:12] Speaker 6: they've done enough. They have been absolutely amazing. No, the
[1:19:16] Speaker 6: point of politics is to always ask for more. But
[1:19:21] Speaker 6: what gets me is the other side. They ain't done
[1:19:24] Speaker 6: a damn thing.
[1:19:28] Speaker 5: That's the anti intellectual straw man that they built.
[1:19:31] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:19:31] Speaker 24: They say, well, the Democrats don't give us exactly what
[1:19:34] Speaker 24: we want, so you know, they must not be for
[1:19:38] Speaker 24: black people. We should leave that party. Right when politics
[1:19:41] Speaker 24: nobody ever gets what they want, right. Like, the anti
[1:19:45] Speaker 24: intellectual part of that is the assumption that black people
[1:19:48] Speaker 24: are one hundred percent satisfied with the Democratic Party. When
[1:19:53] Speaker 24: you know, and I know that we have criticisms of
[1:19:56] Speaker 24: the Democratic Party. They chase after white moderates, right, they
[1:20:00] Speaker 24: sometimes do they pay pay.
[1:20:01] Speaker 5: Us lip service.
[1:20:02] Speaker 24: They don't know how to reach black voters, right, and
[1:20:06] Speaker 24: that those are valid criticisms.
[1:20:08] Speaker 5: Right.
[1:20:08] Speaker 24: But just because your house ain't exactly like you want it, right, Like,
[1:20:13] Speaker 24: if you got a leak in the roof, you don't
[1:20:16] Speaker 24: burn the house down and say, man, we gotta move right,
[1:20:19] Speaker 24: you try to fix it from.
[1:20:21] Speaker 5: Inside the house.
[1:20:22] Speaker 24: And that's what black people have done to the only
[1:20:25] Speaker 24: political representation that they really have a chance at electing
[1:20:30] Speaker 24: in a two party system.
[1:20:32] Speaker 6: I reference this the other day, and it was always
[1:20:38] Speaker 6: interesting to me. And again, I like to deal in facts.
[1:20:46] Speaker 6: I ain't dealing with emotion. I ain't dealing with drama.
[1:20:50] Speaker 6: I'm not dealing with people who just sort of just
[1:20:51] Speaker 6: throw bs out there. And the first time Trump was there,
[1:20:57] Speaker 6: I was very clear. One of the first things that
[1:21:01] Speaker 6: Republicans did was they overturned and Trump signed into law.
[1:21:07] Speaker 6: They overturned what Obama did to stop discrimination in auto lending.
[1:21:16] Speaker 6: And this was this actually happened, y'all. I'm looking for
[1:21:21] Speaker 6: it last night and I finally found it. This happened
[1:21:24] Speaker 6: on the floor of the United States House. And this
[1:21:28] Speaker 6: is actually where Reclaim my Time originated. I need you
[1:21:34] Speaker 6: to listen.
[1:21:36] Speaker 24: Make sure that we're making America great every day and
[1:21:39] Speaker 24: every way, and the best way to do that is
[1:21:41] Speaker 24: to stop talking about discrimination and start talking about the
[1:21:44] Speaker 24: nation we're coming together.
[1:21:45] Speaker 6: As a people.
[1:21:46] Speaker 5: In spite of what you say. Thank you, gentlemen, I
[1:21:49] Speaker 5: yield back.
[1:21:49] Speaker 8: Gentlemen's time has expired. Members are reminder to address their
[1:21:53] Speaker 8: remarks to the Chair the gentleman from Texas Reserves. Generalad
[1:21:56] Speaker 8: from California, Thank you.
[1:21:58] Speaker 5: Very much the gentlemen.
[1:22:00] Speaker 6: Mister Kelly, please do not leave, because.
[1:22:03] Speaker 26: I want you to know that I am more offended
[1:22:06] Speaker 26: as an African American woman than you will ever be.
[1:22:09] Speaker 26: And this business about making America great again, it is
[1:22:12] Speaker 26: your president that's dividing this country. And don't talk to
[1:22:16] Speaker 26: me about the fact that we don't understand.
[1:22:19] Speaker 6: What happens on the automobive.
[1:22:20] Speaker 3: No.
[1:22:20] Speaker 9: I will not yell.
[1:22:21] Speaker 6: No, I will not yell. Okay, don't tell me that
[1:22:24] Speaker 6: we don't understand.
[1:22:25] Speaker 26: That's the attitude that's been given towards women's time and
[1:22:29] Speaker 26: time again.
[1:22:30] Speaker 5: General Lady will suspend.
[1:22:32] Speaker 8: The chair wishes to remind all members that they are
[1:22:35] Speaker 8: to address their remarks to the chair that lady will chair.
[1:22:38] Speaker 26: But don't stop me in the middle when you didn't
[1:22:40] Speaker 26: stop him in the middle, And so I shall continue.
[1:22:43] Speaker 26: Don't you dare talk to me like that and think
[1:22:46] Speaker 26: that somehow women don't understand what goes on on the
[1:22:50] Speaker 26: floor of automobile Dealers.
[1:22:52] Speaker 8: Minded to direct her remarks to the chair, the Generalaty will.
[1:22:56] Speaker 6: Continue that I will continue to do that.
[1:22:59] Speaker 26: However, I don't appreciate that you did not interrupt him
[1:23:03] Speaker 26: when he was making those outrageous remarks about him knowing
[1:23:06] Speaker 26: more about discrimination than I know about discrimination. I resent that,
[1:23:12] Speaker 26: and I resent the remark about making America great again.
[1:23:15] Speaker 26: He's down here making a speech for this dishonorable president
[1:23:18] Speaker 26: of the United States of America, having said that I
[1:23:21] Speaker 26: reserved the balance of my time at No.
[1:23:23] Speaker 6: I do not yield, not.
[1:23:25] Speaker 27: One second to you, not one second, not one second
[1:23:29] Speaker 27: to you.
[1:23:31] Speaker 6: So here's a question, Michael, Why in the hell, when I,
[1:23:36] Speaker 6: as a black man, give my vote to a party
[1:23:41] Speaker 6: that wants to get rid of laws that fight discrimination
[1:23:47] Speaker 6: in auto lending? Why the hell would I do that?
[1:23:50] Speaker 6: Why the hell after ten black people were gunned down
[1:23:54] Speaker 6: by a white supremacist at a grocery store in Buffalo,
[1:23:59] Speaker 6: New York. Why and Jamal Bowen, then congressman, introduces a
[1:24:04] Speaker 6: resolution condemnic white supremacy, and not one Republican supported it,
[1:24:09] Speaker 6: Why in the hell would I give them my vote?
[1:24:14] Speaker 24: Well, here's a better question, Roland. When they were arguing
[1:24:18] Speaker 24: about that right, that Obama era policy, how did that
[1:24:23] Speaker 24: get into law? If the Democratic Party only pays us
[1:24:28] Speaker 24: lip service? When Trump repealed forty eight Obama era policies
[1:24:34] Speaker 24: on his first date as president. How did those policies
[1:24:37] Speaker 24: get into effect if the Democratic Party only pays us
[1:24:41] Speaker 24: lift service?
[1:24:42] Speaker 5: When he repealed Executive.
[1:24:44] Speaker 28: Order eighty eight h two, which is written by a
[1:24:47] Speaker 28: black man, how did it get into law if the
[1:24:50] Speaker 28: Party only pays us lift service. If the Party only
[1:24:53] Speaker 28: paid us lift service, then how did Obama file suit
[1:24:58] Speaker 28: his dt fiul tu it gets every major lending institution
[1:25:02] Speaker 28: for discrimination in America. If they only paid us lip service,
[1:25:06] Speaker 28: then how did we get the.
[1:25:09] Speaker 24: Dear colleague letter on the department from the Department of
[1:25:13] Speaker 24: Education warning school districts that hey, We're going to ssue
[1:25:16] Speaker 24: you if you keep disproportionately punishing black kids. Like if
[1:25:20] Speaker 24: they only pay us lip service, if they don't do
[1:25:21] Speaker 24: anything for black people, why do they got to repeal
[1:25:24] Speaker 24: the laws?
[1:25:24] Speaker 9: Right?
[1:25:24] Speaker 3: Like?
[1:25:24] Speaker 24: Where did the laws magically come from? If the party
[1:25:28] Speaker 24: only pays us lip service.
[1:25:30] Speaker 6: Yeah, And the other thing is this here? This is
[1:25:33] Speaker 6: what I would love it again. I would love for
[1:25:36] Speaker 6: Stephen A or Umar or any black conservative what's that
[1:25:41] Speaker 6: silly negro, Vince Ellison, whatever his name is. I would
[1:25:44] Speaker 6: love for any of them. I would love for any
[1:25:47] Speaker 6: of them to explain to me, how is it that
[1:25:52] Speaker 6: black owned businesses received ten billion dollars in federal contracts
[1:26:01] Speaker 6: in the last year of Biden Harris, And let it
[1:26:04] Speaker 6: be real clear, that's two percent. And I ain't happy
[1:26:09] Speaker 6: at all about two percent, but it was ten billion,
[1:26:13] Speaker 6: and it was a record number. We're now down to
[1:26:16] Speaker 6: one point two percent under Trump. So again, why would I,
[1:26:22] Speaker 6: as a black man give my vote to a party
[1:26:28] Speaker 6: that does not want black people to get contracts? Why
[1:26:34] Speaker 6: would I do that?
[1:26:37] Speaker 24: Well, not just don't doesn't want black people to get contracts.
[1:26:42] Speaker 24: They repealed the legislation and the executive orders that allowed black.
[1:26:48] Speaker 5: People to get contracts.
[1:26:49] Speaker 24: They repealed the legislation that again created the biggest demographic
[1:26:55] Speaker 24: shift in American history, that came from Executive Order ADYOO two,
[1:27:00] Speaker 24: which is gone down.
[1:27:01] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:27:01] Speaker 24: They repealed the Affirmative Action Executive Order, which was written
[1:27:06] Speaker 24: by Hobart Taylor Jr.
[1:27:08] Speaker 5: A black man. Right, they're repealing the.
[1:27:11] Speaker 24: The executive orders and the legislation that we created, and
[1:27:16] Speaker 24: we are expected to vote for those people. Like, the
[1:27:21] Speaker 24: only thing that it explains it, right, is that Steve Like,
[1:27:26] Speaker 24: there's only one word to explain it that's created by
[1:27:28] Speaker 24: the generation after mind. They gotta be ops man, right,
[1:27:32] Speaker 24: they are opponents. They are our opposition. They do they
[1:27:37] Speaker 24: want us to vote for people who oppose us. There's
[1:27:40] Speaker 24: only one logical explanation that they are our ops.
[1:27:46] Speaker 6: And let me just get it, y'all, stay right there
[1:27:54] Speaker 6: in my studio.
[1:27:57] Speaker 19: I have.
[1:27:58] Speaker 6: I'm gonna need you to put this back on the
[1:28:00] Speaker 6: wall when I'm done in my still give me go wide,
[1:28:04] Speaker 6: go wide.
[1:28:05] Speaker 5: I know exactly what you're getting. Go wie, come on,
[1:28:09] Speaker 5: go wide.
[1:28:10] Speaker 6: Y'all got three cameras right here, switch to a wide shot.
[1:28:13] Speaker 6: What were doing?
[1:28:15] Speaker 3: Okay?
[1:28:15] Speaker 6: I don't understand why the camera nott why anyway? So y'all,
[1:28:18] Speaker 6: thank you. That's the shot I wanted. Please, Now, y'all,
[1:28:25] Speaker 6: this is the poster from Nate Parker's The Birth of
[1:28:30] Speaker 6: a Nation. And when I saw this poster, I said, Nate,
[1:28:36] Speaker 6: you got to send me an autograph copy so I
[1:28:40] Speaker 6: could put this in my studio. And y'all, y'all notice
[1:28:44] Speaker 6: in this poster the noose around his neck is a
[1:28:51] Speaker 6: US flag that, Michael to me, is the equivalent of
[1:28:57] Speaker 6: us giving our vote to the Reportublican Party. We are
[1:29:01] Speaker 6: voluntarily lynching our sales. We are voluntarily screwing our sales.
[1:29:08] Speaker 6: I was sitting the ONYX Impact put together a report
[1:29:15] Speaker 6: dealing with dealing with the budget, dealing with It's called
[1:29:21] Speaker 6: the Blackout Report, and go to my iPad you see
[1:29:24] Speaker 6: it right here. So we've lost some three point four
[1:29:28] Speaker 6: billion dollars in federal grants, five hundred and ninety one
[1:29:32] Speaker 6: black books banned, and across twenty one states, we've been
[1:29:36] Speaker 6: wiped out thousands of jobs because maga's been targeting black people, y'all.
[1:29:44] Speaker 6: That's a noose around the next of black people. So, Michael,
[1:29:49] Speaker 6: it would literally be black suicide to say, oh, let's
[1:29:57] Speaker 6: give all of our black votes to the Republicans because
[1:30:00] Speaker 6: they might begin to love us.
[1:30:05] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:30:05] Speaker 24: It's what they're suggesting is that there is someone who's
[1:30:09] Speaker 24: been stalking us and trying to kill us, and they
[1:30:13] Speaker 24: haven't completed their mission.
[1:30:15] Speaker 5: And what Stephen A.
[1:30:16] Speaker 24: Smith wants us to do is just give them more bullets,
[1:30:20] Speaker 24: right Like, that's what he wants to give them, the
[1:30:24] Speaker 24: people who have been trying to kill us politically, to
[1:30:27] Speaker 24: kill our rights legislatively, to give them more bullets because
[1:30:33] Speaker 24: somehow that would make them not shoot us or stop
[1:30:38] Speaker 24: shooting at us.
[1:30:39] Speaker 5: It doesn't make logical sense.
[1:30:41] Speaker 6: It doesn't make logical sense, and there's no way in
[1:30:45] Speaker 6: hell I would tell anybody that should happen. Michael Harriet,
[1:30:49] Speaker 6: Contraband Camp go to my iPad, y'all. Please read this
[1:30:52] Speaker 6: piece on contraband Camp, a wish list for white supremacy.
[1:30:57] Speaker 6: Seven ways Trump's twenty twenty seven budget will hurt Black America.
[1:31:03] Speaker 6: Y'all take a look. Please also support contraband Camp. You
[1:31:07] Speaker 6: can subscribe, you can also donate, and so please go
[1:31:11] Speaker 6: to contrabandcamp dot com. Contrabandcamp dot com, y'all. Today Black
[1:31:15] Speaker 6: Enterprise announced they were laying off their fifteen freelancers. Listen,
[1:31:19] Speaker 6: we are losing Black on media left and right. It
[1:31:22] Speaker 6: ain't a lot of folks doing the work that we do.
[1:31:24] Speaker 6: So what we do here at Blackstar Network, what we do,
[1:31:27] Speaker 6: or what Contraband Camp does, and so we got to
[1:31:29] Speaker 6: be supporting black on media and all that we do. Michael,
[1:31:32] Speaker 6: we appreciate it.
[1:31:32] Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Thanks for having me.
[1:31:35] Speaker 6: I'm going back to my panel here. I mean movest out,
[1:31:37] Speaker 6: But we got to be some damn fools to sit
[1:31:40] Speaker 6: here and listen to these yahoos say some of the
[1:31:43] Speaker 6: most ridiculous things when again, I don't wake up a Democrat.
[1:31:50] Speaker 6: Let me real clear, I have never in my life
[1:31:53] Speaker 6: self call myself a Democrat, a Republican, or even an independent.
[1:31:59] Speaker 6: I call myself black, and I would be outside of
[1:32:03] Speaker 6: my damn mind if I decide to say, yeah, let
[1:32:06] Speaker 6: me go ahead and stand with the people who are
[1:32:09] Speaker 6: doing all they can to screw over black folk all
[1:32:13] Speaker 6: across this country.
[1:32:16] Speaker 22: Yeah, I mean, I'm right there with you.
[1:32:17] Speaker 10: I always say I vote for who cares about my
[1:32:19] Speaker 10: community and willing to make sure the words are translated
[1:32:23] Speaker 10: into real action.
[1:32:24] Speaker 6: Oh Stapah, you are a bent time this right here.
[1:32:31] Speaker 6: You are a bienttime environmentalist. Why in the hell would you,
[1:32:37] Speaker 6: as a big time environmentalist, as a black man, black
[1:32:42] Speaker 6: man and environmentalist, give your vote to a party that
[1:32:48] Speaker 6: stands against everything you believe in as an environmentalist.
[1:32:54] Speaker 22: I wouldn't. Everybody knows that I stand on that all
[1:32:58] Speaker 22: the time, you know.
[1:32:59] Speaker 10: I was just want to say that many of these
[1:33:01] Speaker 10: folks who you have identified today, who are asking people
[1:33:05] Speaker 10: to give consideration and voting for the Republican Party, I
[1:33:08] Speaker 10: would ask them to actually go with myself or a
[1:33:10] Speaker 10: number of.
[1:33:10] Speaker 22: Other folks to real communities who are actually barely hanging on.
[1:33:15] Speaker 10: In many instances, their lives have been shortened because of
[1:33:19] Speaker 10: the impacts that are going on inside of their communities,
[1:33:21] Speaker 10: the poison that's being pumped into their veins, into their lungs,
[1:33:25] Speaker 10: into their bodies, into the babies that are coming into
[1:33:29] Speaker 10: this next generation.
[1:33:31] Speaker 22: And that's the thing that always just baffles me, is that.
[1:33:34] Speaker 10: We get people who come on TV, who come on
[1:33:37] Speaker 10: these platforms who've never spent any time in community and
[1:33:41] Speaker 10: seeing exactly what is going on where people are getting cancers,
[1:33:44] Speaker 10: and they're getting liver and kidney diseases and all these
[1:33:47] Speaker 10: different types of things that are.
[1:33:48] Speaker 22: Currently going on.
[1:33:50] Speaker 10: And that's why I say that I give my vote
[1:33:53] Speaker 10: to somebody who's willing to actually work on those issues,
[1:33:55] Speaker 10: somebody who's willing to put the dollars back into community
[1:33:59] Speaker 10: where we've been under the resource for decades upon decades.
[1:34:03] Speaker 10: And that's what we have to get to is because
[1:34:05] Speaker 10: these people will make these broad statements, but they don't
[1:34:07] Speaker 10: talk about Black maternal health and what's actually going on
[1:34:10] Speaker 10: in our communities. And who's been willing to make the
[1:34:13] Speaker 10: funding that's necessary for us to begin to make some
[1:34:16] Speaker 10: gains in that area. They don't talk about what's going
[1:34:19] Speaker 10: on with black farmers and how we have less and
[1:34:21] Speaker 10: less land and that means we get less and less
[1:34:23] Speaker 10: fresh food. They don't talk about what's going on in
[1:34:25] Speaker 10: the grocery store because they're so far removed from what's
[1:34:29] Speaker 10: actually going on in black community. That's why I say
[1:34:32] Speaker 10: you have to earn my vote, and that means that
[1:34:35] Speaker 10: you have to put real action with the words that
[1:34:37] Speaker 10: are coming out of your mouth.
[1:34:39] Speaker 6: Nicole, you are a lawyer. Why in the hell would you,
[1:34:42] Speaker 6: as a lawyer, give your vote to a party who
[1:34:47] Speaker 6: right now won't prosecute a single cop for wrongdoing. You
[1:34:55] Speaker 6: had a jury in Los Angeles convict a former deputy
[1:35:00] Speaker 6: sheriff of beating a woman who was recording, and Donald
[1:35:06] Speaker 6: Trump's US attorney came in did a post conviction plea
[1:35:10] Speaker 6: deal took it from a feligy to a misdemeanor. When
[1:35:14] Speaker 6: Donald Trump got sworn in, one of the first things
[1:35:16] Speaker 6: that he did was give a pardon to two cops
[1:35:20] Speaker 6: in DC who chased down a black kid who was
[1:35:23] Speaker 6: killed and they were chasing him unnecessarily. They were convicted
[1:35:29] Speaker 6: by jewelry. Donald Trump pardoned them. Donald Trump has attacked
[1:35:33] Speaker 6: law firms that have opposed him and then tried to
[1:35:37] Speaker 6: force him to sign awful deals. Why would you, as
[1:35:41] Speaker 6: a black attorney, vote for those fools.
[1:35:45] Speaker 19: And this is the same party that's supposed to be
[1:35:48] Speaker 19: tough on crime and all about law and order. The
[1:35:51] Speaker 19: only time they care about crime and law and order
[1:35:53] Speaker 19: is when it's used to hurt black people. We see
[1:35:56] Speaker 19: this party advocating for the prison industrial complex, even if they.
[1:36:00] Speaker 5: Don't want to call it that. They want us in jail,
[1:36:02] Speaker 5: they want us in change, They want to bring back
[1:36:05] Speaker 5: Jim Crow, and.
[1:36:06] Speaker 19: Honestly, growling at this point, I think Steven A. Smith
[1:36:08] Speaker 19: might be a plant by the Trump administration or something,
[1:36:11] Speaker 19: because what is he talking about. I know that he
[1:36:14] Speaker 19: can outpoint to one Republican policy or one Republican candidate
[1:36:18] Speaker 19: that would do anything helpful.
[1:36:20] Speaker 20: For black people.
[1:36:22] Speaker 19: And this rhetoric is especially dangerous right now when we're
[1:36:25] Speaker 19: sitting here almost about to be back in Jim Crow
[1:36:27] Speaker 19: because of what the Supreme Court and Trump and his
[1:36:30] Speaker 19: clan members are doing.
[1:36:32] Speaker 5: So Stephen A.
[1:36:32] Speaker 19: Smith does not deserve a platform, and I hope cam
[1:36:35] Speaker 19: Newton also learns that he shouldn't have had him on
[1:36:37] Speaker 19: his platform either.
[1:36:38] Speaker 6: Randy, you're a shamed Randon. You have spent your career
[1:36:42] Speaker 6: trying to get more of us in corporate America, get
[1:36:46] Speaker 6: us promoted, get us on boards, get us on contract
[1:36:50] Speaker 6: Why in the hell would you, as a black woman
[1:36:53] Speaker 6: who has fought in the DEI space, give your vote
[1:36:58] Speaker 6: to a party that this spises diversity, equity inclusion, that
[1:37:03] Speaker 6: wants to have more white men in power, does not
[1:37:06] Speaker 6: want to see us get contracts. It does not want
[1:37:09] Speaker 6: to see us sitting on boards of directors. Why in
[1:37:12] Speaker 6: the hell would you do that?
[1:37:15] Speaker 5: I wouldn't. I would never.
[1:37:18] Speaker 18: They have been consistent with trying to block black people
[1:37:24] Speaker 18: from any positions of power. They have been consistent in
[1:37:29] Speaker 18: trying to ensure that we don't earn as much as them. Today,
[1:37:34] Speaker 18: we earn on a dollar a white man owns what
[1:37:38] Speaker 18: gets one dollar for one dollar, he earns a dollar,
[1:37:41] Speaker 18: whereas a black man will get eighty cents of that,
[1:37:44] Speaker 18: a black woman sixty something cents of that.
[1:37:46] Speaker 5: We don't even earn what they earn.
[1:37:48] Speaker 18: And what people need to understand is that's purposeful for
[1:37:52] Speaker 18: the doing these same exact jobs.
[1:37:54] Speaker 5: They have actively worked against us.
[1:37:57] Speaker 18: This is not a neutral party and then maybe the
[1:38:00] Speaker 18: Democrats do a little bit more. This is a party
[1:38:03] Speaker 18: that has dedicated themselves to actively ensuring that we can
[1:38:09] Speaker 18: barely function in this country.
[1:38:12] Speaker 5: It has been an absolute fight.
[1:38:14] Speaker 18: The reason why I stepped away from working in DEI
[1:38:18] Speaker 18: in the corporate in corporate Americas because it was so deflating,
[1:38:23] Speaker 18: because I was seeing what they were doing every day
[1:38:27] Speaker 18: to knock us down on our knees and make.
[1:38:29] Speaker 5: It where we are simply crawling.
[1:38:33] Speaker 18: And they point to people like Stephen A. Smith when
[1:38:36] Speaker 18: you talk about DEI is because they get that one
[1:38:40] Speaker 18: magical Negro right and they'll say, oh, we couldn't be
[1:38:43] Speaker 18: racist because look at who we hired, look at.
[1:38:46] Speaker 5: Who we've given a platform.
[1:38:47] Speaker 18: But it's always a person that speaks against us. They
[1:38:53] Speaker 18: speak against black people, which is why he has a platform.
[1:38:58] Speaker 18: Think about all the black journalists and newscasters who have
[1:39:03] Speaker 18: lost their jobs over the past year because they were
[1:39:08] Speaker 18: trying to speak truth to power, stating absolute facts.
[1:39:12] Speaker 5: They were let go.
[1:39:14] Speaker 18: So if you see someone who has a large platform
[1:39:18] Speaker 18: on a media platform that is owned by you know
[1:39:22] Speaker 18: who they're owned by, trust me, they're speaking not for
[1:39:25] Speaker 18: black people but against our interest.
[1:39:28] Speaker 6: Absolutely y'all for more than fifty years. Tennessee laws block
[1:39:32] Speaker 6: state lawmakers from redrawing congretual districts except every ten years
[1:39:35] Speaker 6: of the US census. But these maga folks, they're like, naw,
[1:39:39] Speaker 6: we're just going to change the law because they're trying
[1:39:42] Speaker 6: to kiss up to the twice at peace crimely committed
[1:39:44] Speaker 6: felon in cheap. Protests were taking place all today in
[1:39:47] Speaker 6: the state capitol in Tennessee, where a Republican government Bill
[1:39:50] Speaker 6: Lee called state lawmakers back to Nashville to ensure congressional
[1:39:54] Speaker 6: districts quote accurately reflect the will of Tennessee voters. That
[1:39:57] Speaker 6: minds you. What they want to do is they want
[1:39:59] Speaker 6: there's only one black congressional seed in Tennessee, that's in Memphis.
[1:40:03] Speaker 6: They want to destroy that. Yeah, seriously, listen to what
[1:40:07] Speaker 6: took place today in Tennessee.
[1:40:11] Speaker 18: Representation by the Congress of the United States.
[1:40:19] Speaker 11: Just change may not be changed.
[1:40:22] Speaker 22: Twain are breaking the law.
[1:40:27] Speaker 6: Of course, was there ever a doubt.
[1:40:33] Speaker 3: A bill that will break this law?
[1:40:36] Speaker 6: Can I see that.
[1:40:39] Speaker 20: Article on love power isn't in the.
[1:40:47] Speaker 11: Governments all the time?
[1:41:12] Speaker 22: They get to break them off.
[1:41:18] Speaker 6: So again, so again, folks, they got a law Republicans like,
[1:41:21] Speaker 6: oh hell, now, we're just gonna change the law. That's
[1:41:23] Speaker 6: what's going on, folks. We have to have mass mobilization,
[1:41:28] Speaker 6: mass action against these folks. That's what Bishop William Barbara,
[1:41:32] Speaker 6: the pairs of the Breach Poor People's Campaign, has been
[1:41:34] Speaker 6: talking about calling for a number of years. Bishop Barbara
[1:41:37] Speaker 6: joins us right now, Bishop, we've been laying out this
[1:41:41] Speaker 6: is an absolute war on Black America. Uh, you've been
[1:41:45] Speaker 6: talking about fusion politics. It was a lot of white
[1:41:47] Speaker 6: folks sitting there in Tennessee. This is where white folks
[1:41:50] Speaker 6: are conscious. Latinos Asian Americans, Native Americans need to understand, Hey,
[1:41:54] Speaker 6: it ain't just US Republicans in Florida. They wiping out
[1:41:58] Speaker 6: Latino districts. They wiping out with Tino voters. And so
[1:42:01] Speaker 6: if they think this is only us, they coming for
[1:42:05] Speaker 6: y'all too.
[1:42:07] Speaker 3: Look you better believe it.
[1:42:08] Speaker 9: For that tactic Roland that you just started reading the
[1:42:10] Speaker 9: Constitution is something we train people how to do in
[1:42:13] Speaker 9: the Poor People's Campaign. Repaired to the Beach. I saw
[1:42:15] Speaker 9: some of my folks there and it needs to be
[1:42:17] Speaker 9: even more diverse. But listen, we're in this battle. You're
[1:42:20] Speaker 9: not been talking about were in the battle for whether
[1:42:22] Speaker 9: we're going to have the ending and retrogression of the
[1:42:25] Speaker 9: second reconstruction or whether we're going to fight our way
[1:42:28] Speaker 9: into a third and they are intending on undoing the
[1:42:31] Speaker 9: second reconstruction. You know, let me just say a thing
[1:42:34] Speaker 9: by Steven and and I'm moving to the other you
[1:42:36] Speaker 9: and I how debate him and whoever anywhere any time.
[1:42:38] Speaker 9: That's just ignorant a lot of stuff he said, And
[1:42:40] Speaker 9: we need to debate him in a place where he
[1:42:42] Speaker 9: doesn't just get the hollow holla hollow, but actually has
[1:42:44] Speaker 9: to talk facts, because it is dangerous in this time
[1:42:47] Speaker 9: to be throwing out things that are not rooted in history.
[1:42:51] Speaker 3: Do you know in your audience that here are some.
[1:42:54] Speaker 9: Things that if we had not had a diverse Congress
[1:43:00] Speaker 9: cause of the Voting Rights Act, here are things that
[1:43:03] Speaker 9: would not have ever existed.
[1:43:05] Speaker 3: The American Rescue.
[1:43:06] Speaker 9: Plan that put one point nine trellion dollars in economic
[1:43:09] Speaker 9: relief to combat COVID would not have passed without a
[1:43:14] Speaker 9: diverse coalition. Infrastructure, investment in jobs one point two million, infrastructure.
[1:43:20] Speaker 9: When you talk about this is hurting black, white and
[1:43:22] Speaker 9: everybody when they want to roll back these laws, the
[1:43:25] Speaker 9: inf Inflation Reduction Act would not have passed. Chips and
[1:43:31] Speaker 9: Science Act that put fifty two pillion dollars in not
[1:43:35] Speaker 9: only semiconducts. I know it's a little technical, but in
[1:43:37] Speaker 9: research to make sure that our communities is not left behind,
[1:43:42] Speaker 9: would not have passed. The Affordable Care Act would not
[1:43:47] Speaker 9: have passed. All of these things passed, and many other
[1:43:51] Speaker 9: rolling only because of the gains of the Second Reconstruction,
[1:43:55] Speaker 9: and only because we had.
[1:43:56] Speaker 3: A diverse.
[1:43:58] Speaker 9: Congress where the Black Congressional Caucus was able to be
[1:44:03] Speaker 9: the conscience of the nation and vote and make sure
[1:44:06] Speaker 9: that things were done. Now here's one other thing. Those Maroland,
[1:44:11] Speaker 9: and you know we talk real. I think that right
[1:44:14] Speaker 9: now too. We have to have what we call the
[1:44:16] Speaker 9: AI moment in the Bible and Joshua. When Joshua lost
[1:44:20] Speaker 9: a battle, God said, check your camp out, boll it's
[1:44:24] Speaker 9: not your enemy, he said, you camp now. I'm gonna
[1:44:26] Speaker 9: say this, gonna get pissed off, but that's all right.
[1:44:30] Speaker 9: Anybody black or white in the congressional callers, civil right organization, whatever,
[1:44:36] Speaker 9: that did not join us in twenty twenty when we
[1:44:38] Speaker 9: said got demand that the only way we passed COVID relief,
[1:44:44] Speaker 9: particularly the corporation. Part of it is to read the
[1:44:48] Speaker 9: pastor John Lewis Voting Rights Act law and living rages simultaneously.
[1:44:54] Speaker 9: There were people that turned away from that, told people
[1:44:57] Speaker 9: not to mobilize, said we'll come back to but we'll
[1:45:00] Speaker 9: give Mansion what he wanted out of and see Manchin
[1:45:03] Speaker 9: promised us he was gonna do something, and we knew
[1:45:05] Speaker 9: it was a lie then, And there's got to be
[1:45:07] Speaker 9: some repenting. I'm not saying we're gonna beat up on
[1:45:09] Speaker 9: vote forever, but we got to own some of this
[1:45:12] Speaker 9: stuff is of our down't doing.
[1:45:15] Speaker 3: As well now.
[1:45:17] Speaker 9: Once we do that, Roland, we can't have no forty
[1:45:21] Speaker 9: five percent turnout no more in the black community, no more.
[1:45:26] Speaker 9: We just can't, and we can't have the remaining majority
[1:45:31] Speaker 9: black districts that are still existing. You have to run
[1:45:35] Speaker 9: like you are losing. You have to turn up the
[1:45:38] Speaker 9: vote and turn out the vote. We can't have sixty
[1:45:42] Speaker 9: or fifty percent of our people staying home never again.
[1:45:45] Speaker 3: We need ten years of massive.
[1:45:48] Speaker 9: Mobilization in the black community, and every politician that comes
[1:45:52] Speaker 9: in for us, particularly out of Democrats, we need to say,
[1:45:55] Speaker 9: if you get our votes and we give you a
[1:45:58] Speaker 9: majority in the House and in the center.
[1:46:00] Speaker 3: What are you going to do in the first fifty days?
[1:46:03] Speaker 3: Fifty days?
[1:46:04] Speaker 9: And the first thing has to be a brand new,
[1:46:08] Speaker 9: restored Voting Rights Act that fits this moment, and if necessary,
[1:46:13] Speaker 9: do what Franklin don No Roosevelt threatened to do, and
[1:46:16] Speaker 9: that is win the presidency and then expand the Supreme Court.
[1:46:20] Speaker 3: Otherwise were just whistling Dixie.
[1:46:23] Speaker 6: Yeah, I think what happened. And let's just be real clear, Bishop,
[1:46:29] Speaker 6: you had a whole bunch of civil rights groups who
[1:46:31] Speaker 6: were trying to play it safe, who were inside sitting
[1:46:34] Speaker 6: at the table, did not want to put external pressure
[1:46:38] Speaker 6: on Biden, Harris and on the Congress. And it was
[1:46:42] Speaker 6: like no, no, no, no, we good, were good. And
[1:46:44] Speaker 6: this is the mistakes that Democrats made with Roby Wade.
[1:46:47] Speaker 6: They've nominated it with the Voting Rights Act. They were like,
[1:46:50] Speaker 6: oh no, no, no, no, that's set a law. The
[1:46:53] Speaker 6: Supreme Court is not going to to roll those things back.
[1:46:58] Speaker 6: This Supreme with this Supreme's Court is say it is.
[1:47:02] Speaker 3: We the end.
[1:47:03] Speaker 6: Can't nobody tell us what to do. We got supreme
[1:47:07] Speaker 6: power and we about to use it the way we
[1:47:09] Speaker 6: see fit, and we will ignore our own president, do
[1:47:13] Speaker 6: what the hell we want to do to achieve the
[1:47:15] Speaker 6: outcome that we want to achieve, which is align with
[1:47:20] Speaker 6: a right wing conservative Republican party.
[1:47:23] Speaker 9: That's right because they know the demographics role and you've
[1:47:27] Speaker 9: talked about this are shifting so fast population wise. The
[1:47:31] Speaker 9: only way you can hold on the power in the
[1:47:34] Speaker 9: next ten to fifty years is to cheat. And this
[1:47:36] Speaker 9: has been something that's been going on. We could have
[1:47:39] Speaker 9: fixed the voting rights ever since June twenty fifth, twenty thirteen.
[1:47:46] Speaker 6: That was Obama. Obama was there.
[1:47:49] Speaker 9: That's right, that's exactly right. Obama, then Biden, then the
[1:47:53] Speaker 9: Congress you know, were and anybody, I don't care who
[1:47:59] Speaker 9: it is, congressional leader or whip who said the folks
[1:48:02] Speaker 9: hold off.
[1:48:03] Speaker 3: Back up.
[1:48:04] Speaker 9: I remember we went to Tennessee, put a thousand people
[1:48:07] Speaker 9: in front of Mansion's office and white and black to
[1:48:10] Speaker 9: challenge him to do what he promised.
[1:48:12] Speaker 3: John Lewis on.
[1:48:13] Speaker 9: His depth, John Lewis deathbed, and he told I vote, Oh,
[1:48:17] Speaker 9: I've been assured from other groups that I don't have
[1:48:21] Speaker 9: to go along with your pressure, and they're gonna be
[1:48:24] Speaker 9: okay with the vote on the COVID relief for corporations.
[1:48:28] Speaker 9: You know, he wanted something for his sludge plan or
[1:48:31] Speaker 9: something up in West Virginia, and then he promised he
[1:48:34] Speaker 9: would come back and vote for the Voting Rights Act,
[1:48:37] Speaker 9: and there was never a comeback because we never should
[1:48:39] Speaker 9: have let him off the hook after the twenty twenty election.
[1:48:43] Speaker 3: COVID relief, living.
[1:48:45] Speaker 9: Wages, and the Voting Rights Act should have been the
[1:48:49] Speaker 9: top three actions on the table and should have been
[1:48:52] Speaker 9: done in the first one hundred days of that new administration.
[1:48:56] Speaker 9: Now that we're not there, we've got to now go
[1:48:59] Speaker 9: back and have that. That's why you and I are
[1:49:01] Speaker 9: working to organize a thousand men, thousand men Alpha men,
[1:49:05] Speaker 9: and now we got they, Amy zign and others are
[1:49:08] Speaker 9: coming in who will engage in the kind of massive
[1:49:11] Speaker 9: mobilization because we have to make them pay. So that's
[1:49:15] Speaker 9: for instance, say they've cut right now some of the
[1:49:19] Speaker 9: Voting Rights Act. If we turn up our vote, we
[1:49:23] Speaker 9: can actually change some of the districts that are not
[1:49:27] Speaker 9: predominantly black districts, but we can make it so they
[1:49:30] Speaker 9: can't win in certain areas and we'll have to answer
[1:49:33] Speaker 9: to the power of the black vote. But we can't
[1:49:35] Speaker 9: do it with just forty five percent of people turning out.
[1:49:38] Speaker 3: Come on, y'all.
[1:49:39] Speaker 9: We have to have a turnout like they had in
[1:49:41] Speaker 9: in South Africa when Mandela was running for president. You
[1:49:45] Speaker 9: remember that roller absolutely around the building. Everybody's standing in
[1:49:50] Speaker 9: lying for hours in the hot sun. That's the fight,
[1:49:53] Speaker 9: that's the battle.
[1:49:54] Speaker 3: That we're in. Now.
[1:49:55] Speaker 6: Well, we don't even have to we don't even have
[1:49:57] Speaker 6: to go there. When I was in Mound, Mississippi on Friday,
[1:50:02] Speaker 6: and that was a photo, I took a photo of it,
[1:50:06] Speaker 6: and that was a photo that they had and it
[1:50:09] Speaker 6: was a voter event. It was a voter event in
[1:50:13] Speaker 6: nineteen fifty four, I think, And they said they we
[1:50:16] Speaker 6: say that was a near riot as people were clamoring
[1:50:20] Speaker 6: for a voter registration called a near riot. I talked
[1:50:25] Speaker 6: about when I went to the Natural Civil Rights Museum
[1:50:27] Speaker 6: in Memphis and there's a sign and I thought, I
[1:50:30] Speaker 6: took a picture of them and try to find it
[1:50:31] Speaker 6: where a young sister said, all I want and for
[1:50:36] Speaker 6: all y'all, all y'all black people doing all these extravagant
[1:50:39] Speaker 6: ass prom stuff. This is what it said. All I
[1:50:43] Speaker 6: want for my eighteenth birthday is a voter registration card.
[1:50:48] Speaker 6: That's what We got to get back to.
[1:50:51] Speaker 3: That's right that you and and we're voting for our lives.
[1:50:55] Speaker 9: You've been saying it, I know Rachel Mattall put it
[1:50:58] Speaker 9: up there last night, but you've been saying it for years.
[1:51:00] Speaker 9: We are in a battle, We're in a war. You
[1:51:03] Speaker 9: got the vote for your life. You actually have to
[1:51:06] Speaker 9: get you know, pissed off God. I think God gets
[1:51:10] Speaker 9: pissed off it injustice when I read the Bible. You
[1:51:12] Speaker 9: got to get pissed off that these folk literally went
[1:51:15] Speaker 9: down to our parents' grades and just desecrated them, just
[1:51:20] Speaker 9: desecrate them.
[1:51:21] Speaker 3: But even that's not enough.
[1:51:23] Speaker 9: You know, I heard your brother talking earlier when we
[1:51:27] Speaker 9: talk about what's happening in our community, the number of
[1:51:30] Speaker 9: people that are dying because of lack of health care,
[1:51:33] Speaker 9: dying because of polity, dying because of lack of living wages.
[1:51:36] Speaker 9: And you have a party that has just gone all
[1:51:39] Speaker 9: out maga and saying they're going to do everything to
[1:51:41] Speaker 9: make that worse, not make it better. There comes a
[1:51:46] Speaker 9: time that self preservation has to be the first law
[1:51:51] Speaker 9: of nature. Self preservation has to be the first law
[1:51:55] Speaker 9: of nature. And we are in that battle, in that
[1:51:57] Speaker 9: war right now.
[1:51:59] Speaker 6: You talked about out of the effort. We have it
[1:52:02] Speaker 6: up on Blackstar Network dot com. Y'all if y'all go
[1:52:05] Speaker 6: to Blackstardnetwork dot com and you see it right here.
[1:52:08] Speaker 6: Bishop William Barber's looking for black men and women who
[1:52:10] Speaker 6: want to be trained to organize and mobilize black voters.
[1:52:14] Speaker 6: That's gonna take place in June. Bishop, explain to people
[1:52:19] Speaker 6: why they have to be trained to do what we're
[1:52:24] Speaker 6: talking about.
[1:52:26] Speaker 9: Yeah, it's not just getting up roland and doing a
[1:52:30] Speaker 9: cute speech. It's not just getting up having a voter
[1:52:33] Speaker 9: around and said y'all go vote. It's not using Trump
[1:52:37] Speaker 9: and and trans Thomas's punchlines. I've been watching some preaching lately,
[1:52:42] Speaker 9: and I'm a preacher, so I can talk about it,
[1:52:44] Speaker 9: and brothers and sisters, I get, I get the punchline.
[1:52:47] Speaker 9: But if you're not organizing, if you're not organizing your
[1:52:51] Speaker 9: church and then two miles around your church and then
[1:52:53] Speaker 9: five miles around there, two miles, if you're not really
[1:52:56] Speaker 9: doing micro organizing, really un standing the power of the vote.
[1:53:02] Speaker 9: There are places rolling that. And this is why you
[1:53:04] Speaker 9: have to be trained. Where out of say eight hundred
[1:53:08] Speaker 9: thousand black people didn't vote just ten percent of that
[1:53:12] Speaker 9: would change everything. But you have to know that, and
[1:53:15] Speaker 9: you have to be trained in that. You have to
[1:53:17] Speaker 9: know how to use the technology. You have to know
[1:53:19] Speaker 9: where to knock and where to go. You have to
[1:53:22] Speaker 9: know that the data.
[1:53:23] Speaker 3: Do you know that nineteen million poor and low.
[1:53:26] Speaker 9: Wage voters that voted for Biden has didn't turn out
[1:53:29] Speaker 9: for Kamala hands And regardless of why it is, you
[1:53:32] Speaker 9: we have to know that and know where they are.
[1:53:34] Speaker 9: And so that's why on that weekend, the weekend of
[1:53:37] Speaker 9: January twelfth, and you know that's the weekend that.
[1:53:39] Speaker 6: Mega June twelfth, ginge weite jewel worthy.
[1:53:42] Speaker 3: That's right, that's right.
[1:53:45] Speaker 9: But what people also failed to remember is that weekend
[1:53:49] Speaker 9: was a scared they wanted to kill three people. It
[1:53:52] Speaker 9: was a brother in Louisiana. It was Bernard Offia who
[1:53:55] Speaker 9: just died. And MEGA efforts they got Mega. There was
[1:53:59] Speaker 9: a gold and that day in nineteen sixty three to
[1:54:03] Speaker 9: take out the young civil rights leadership. And right now
[1:54:07] Speaker 9: we are in a battle to take out all the
[1:54:10] Speaker 9: power that.
[1:54:10] Speaker 3: That leadership won. And so what we're saying is on
[1:54:13] Speaker 3: that day and on the.
[1:54:14] Speaker 9: Same day that Johnson Kennedy announced it was going to
[1:54:17] Speaker 9: fight for the Civil Rights Act.
[1:54:19] Speaker 3: We have to grab that moment because we are not.
[1:54:23] Speaker 9: We're watching the undoing and folk have to be strategically
[1:54:28] Speaker 9: trained on how to use the technology, how to do
[1:54:31] Speaker 9: door knocking, how to be strategic, how to work the percentages.
[1:54:37] Speaker 9: It's not always about we're just going to get one
[1:54:39] Speaker 9: hundred percent of the people to vote.
[1:54:41] Speaker 3: That's not how you do it. You really need to
[1:54:43] Speaker 3: be technical. Friends. I can tell you right now Roland.
[1:54:47] Speaker 9: In North Carolina, we need eighteen hundred and thirty votes
[1:54:51] Speaker 9: per counting to overcome the margin of victory that Trump
[1:54:56] Speaker 9: had in twenty twenty four. That's the kind of speci
[1:55:00] Speaker 9: eficited that we have to have and then go after
[1:55:03] Speaker 9: where we can find those votes.
[1:55:04] Speaker 6: Well, to your point, Isaac Hayes, the third post of
[1:55:07] Speaker 6: this little social a couple of days ago. When you
[1:55:09] Speaker 6: talk about data, you see it right here, he said,
[1:55:12] Speaker 6: Eligible black Jordan's who didn't vote twenty eighteen governors race
[1:55:16] Speaker 6: decided about fifty four thousand, twenty three votes nine hundred
[1:55:19] Speaker 6: thousand and one point one million Black folks. Eligible black
[1:55:21] Speaker 6: folks didn't vote in twenty twenty two one hundred and
[1:55:24] Speaker 6: ninety one thousand. He said that we show up, we win.
[1:55:27] Speaker 6: Same thing. Twenty twenty four, North Carolina, some six hundred
[1:55:31] Speaker 6: thousand black folks didn't show up. And I keep saying
[1:55:34] Speaker 6: the number the floor for black people should be seventy percent.
[1:55:37] Speaker 6: That's the floor, not forty five, not fifty two. Not
[1:55:41] Speaker 6: excited because it's fifty five seventy percent. Otherwise we're gonna
[1:55:46] Speaker 6: just be sitting there winding the complaining when they just
[1:55:48] Speaker 6: run the table and let me be.
[1:55:51] Speaker 3: The first that I know.
[1:55:52] Speaker 9: Somebody said, reb barba, I just saw North Carolina.
[1:55:54] Speaker 3: You ought to do you exactly right.
[1:55:56] Speaker 9: That's one of the reasons why I'm saying I can't
[1:55:59] Speaker 9: be out here going everywhere else roller.
[1:56:02] Speaker 3: And not stay in my own home state.
[1:56:04] Speaker 9: I'm saying to every preacher, everybody preacher that wants to
[1:56:06] Speaker 9: do big national speeches, if you're not organizing your church,
[1:56:11] Speaker 9: then you have no credibility to do that. If you're
[1:56:13] Speaker 9: not organizing your community, you have no credibility to do that.
[1:56:16] Speaker 9: So it is time for us to take these numbers,
[1:56:19] Speaker 9: and as you said, not just say if we show up,
[1:56:22] Speaker 9: we win, then talk about how we show up. How
[1:56:25] Speaker 9: do we turn to loose every van every bus, every person,
[1:56:30] Speaker 9: use every phone, every cell phone.
[1:56:32] Speaker 3: You know. I used to say it like this roller.
[1:56:34] Speaker 9: If Harriet Tubman could get seven hundred people out of
[1:56:36] Speaker 9: slavery and she never had anything, email, blackstock, network, cell phone, called,
[1:56:42] Speaker 9: none of that. If she could do that, then we
[1:56:45] Speaker 9: must do more. So I wrote this to you the
[1:56:47] Speaker 9: other day, and I want to say it on the AD.
[1:56:49] Speaker 9: What I believe is time past time to act like
[1:56:54] Speaker 9: we're in a war, a battle against forces of racism
[1:56:58] Speaker 9: and injustice and a saritarianism all at the same time.
[1:57:03] Speaker 9: Emails with no call to action, Tweets with no truth telling,
[1:57:08] Speaker 9: and movement directives, marches with no clear agenda and clear
[1:57:13] Speaker 9: goals and strategies after the march, sermons speeches would catchy
[1:57:18] Speaker 9: phraseology but no follow up and no follow through that
[1:57:22] Speaker 9: turn words into deeds, macro talk without micro organizing. Politicians
[1:57:29] Speaker 9: who offer criticism of what Trump has done in his
[1:57:32] Speaker 9: first one hundred and twenty days but no clear agenda
[1:57:35] Speaker 9: of what they will do in their first fifty days
[1:57:38] Speaker 9: have no place in this battle. Now we're in a
[1:57:43] Speaker 9: different moment, y'all, and with everybody's got to straighten up
[1:57:47] Speaker 9: and fly right.
[1:57:48] Speaker 6: Folks, do be a favor if y'all want to be
[1:57:51] Speaker 6: organ if you only training, organizing and mobilizing getting a
[1:57:53] Speaker 6: vote out, we ain't paying lip service. This ain't just
[1:57:56] Speaker 6: a whole pontificating. This is about real training. Up throm thirteenth.
[1:58:01] Speaker 6: Go to Blackstar network dot com. Click the link. You'll
[1:58:04] Speaker 6: see it right there. You go down there. When you go,
[1:58:06] Speaker 6: when you scroll down, you're gonna click that link right here,
[1:58:09] Speaker 6: it's gonna take you to a form. We put my
[1:58:12] Speaker 6: email out earlier. We don't have to now. This is
[1:58:14] Speaker 6: the contact form. Your name, your date of birth, your address,
[1:58:18] Speaker 6: your email, your mobile phone, sign up for email dates,
[1:58:22] Speaker 6: text messages. We still are Trump, We still are organizing Alpha's.
[1:58:25] Speaker 6: That's for a specific reason, y'all. If you a member,
[1:58:28] Speaker 6: just click that box right there and click submit. Because
[1:58:31] Speaker 6: last point, Bishop, and this is what gets on my
[1:58:34] Speaker 6: nerves when I and I remember Rever Jackson and I
[1:58:37] Speaker 6: had it out once in Chicago because he had a
[1:58:40] Speaker 6: rally and they were not collecting data. The problem I
[1:58:43] Speaker 6: have is when I see these folks have rallies and
[1:58:46] Speaker 6: events and all this stuff, and I'm like, y'alln't even
[1:58:50] Speaker 6: know who's here. How are you not collecting data. How
[1:58:54] Speaker 6: you gonna move to people after the protests to go
[1:58:56] Speaker 6: to the city Hall chamber or to stay legislature chamber
[1:58:59] Speaker 6: or the Congress. If you don't know who the heck
[1:59:01] Speaker 6: showed up at your event, you gotta be collecting data
[1:59:05] Speaker 6: to follow up with people always.
[1:59:08] Speaker 3: That's why rolling.
[1:59:09] Speaker 9: As you said, you can go to Breach Repairers dot
[1:59:11] Speaker 9: org and click there. We're collecting this data. And on
[1:59:15] Speaker 9: May eleventh, at five o'clock in Washington, d C. We're
[1:59:19] Speaker 9: having a morrowl Money. We've been doing Morow Money for
[1:59:21] Speaker 9: several weeks now writing front the White House. Yep, Butmorrow
[1:59:24] Speaker 9: Monday for peace and non violence. But we're connecting the
[1:59:28] Speaker 9: violence of the war in Iraq Iran to the violence
[1:59:32] Speaker 9: of voting rights denial. That's violence too. A poverty is violence,
[1:59:37] Speaker 9: denying people living wages violence. And we're going to be
[1:59:39] Speaker 9: connecting data. And we are asking for several thousand people
[1:59:44] Speaker 9: to come in the street right in front of the
[1:59:46] Speaker 9: White House, starting at Black Lives Matter and right in
[1:59:48] Speaker 9: front of the White House. We don't have thousands online.
[1:59:51] Speaker 9: We're gathering data. We're inviting people in and by the way,
[1:59:54] Speaker 9: rolling these trainings. Some of it will be in person,
[1:59:56] Speaker 9: but most of it will be online, So there's no excuse, right,
[1:59:59] Speaker 9: right of training we're going to do. It's not for
[2:00:02] Speaker 9: you to do it for the paths of the breach,
[2:00:05] Speaker 9: but to turn you loose in your own community, yep,
[2:00:08] Speaker 9: to turn groups of loose in their own community.
[2:00:11] Speaker 3: That's what has to happen. Now.
[2:00:12] Speaker 9: This is not about building any one person's kingdom. This
[2:00:16] Speaker 9: is about us engaging this battle that we're in now
[2:00:19] Speaker 9: to stop the erosion of everything that our four parents want,
[2:00:23] Speaker 9: but also push forward into the things that are yet
[2:00:27] Speaker 9: to be one and one of them is doc. We've
[2:00:29] Speaker 9: got to get our lawyers to figure out a way
[2:00:31] Speaker 9: to do a voting rights act that can never be.
[2:00:34] Speaker 3: Undone like this ever.
[2:00:35] Speaker 9: Again, that's right, that's part of what has to be
[2:00:37] Speaker 9: on an agenda in the coming and after we do
[2:00:40] Speaker 9: the election.
[2:00:40] Speaker 6: Indeed, bish, will you Barbro, I appreciate it, Thanks a lot,
[2:00:44] Speaker 6: Thank you, my brother. All right, then, y'all, I saw
[2:00:48] Speaker 6: this the other day and I figured my Today's panel
[2:00:52] Speaker 6: would really decide to weigh in on this. And y'all
[2:00:56] Speaker 6: already know I can't even deal with the lion on
[2:01:00] Speaker 6: Fox News and the sheer stupidity on Fox News and
[2:01:03] Speaker 6: the most ignorant stuff on Fox News. But they said
[2:01:07] Speaker 6: something that made no sense to me whatsoever. They were
[2:01:11] Speaker 6: talking about Jimmy Kimo and his joke about Milania being
[2:01:15] Speaker 6: a widow world what Ana and Trump lost his mind?
[2:01:19] Speaker 6: Listen to what this food Emily Compandano whatever the hell
[2:01:22] Speaker 6: her name is, Compo Crazy actually said, y'all, she must
[2:01:29] Speaker 6: be high.
[2:01:31] Speaker 29: And my second observation is, I would really appreciate if
[2:01:35] Speaker 29: any former first Lady would release a statement and just
[2:01:37] Speaker 29: say I stand in support of this first Lady because
[2:01:41] Speaker 29: that absence of commentary in the way of many. Michelle
[2:01:44] Speaker 29: Obama is on her podcast all the time, We've heard
[2:01:47] Speaker 29: her thoughts on a lot of things. Can she just
[2:01:49] Speaker 29: spare one sentence in support of this first lady who
[2:01:52] Speaker 29: has been through so much, who has a target on
[2:01:54] Speaker 29: her in the public square and out. It is horrifyingly
[2:01:57] Speaker 29: atrocious how she has been treated. I would love for
[2:02:00] Speaker 29: there to be some support.
[2:02:02] Speaker 6: Coming out of her mouth.
[2:02:09] Speaker 5: Run that by me.
[2:02:10] Speaker 29: Again, observation is, I would really appreciate if any former
[2:02:16] Speaker 29: first Lady would release a statement and just say I
[2:02:19] Speaker 29: stand in support of this first Lady, because that absence
[2:02:22] Speaker 29: of commentary in the way of many. Michelle Obama is
[2:02:25] Speaker 29: on her podcast all the time. We've heard her thoughts
[2:02:27] Speaker 29: on a lot of things. Can she just spare one
[2:02:30] Speaker 29: sentence in support of this first lady who has been
[2:02:33] Speaker 29: through so much, who has a target on her in
[2:02:35] Speaker 29: the public square and out. It is horrifyingly atrocious how
[2:02:38] Speaker 29: she has been treated. I would love for there to
[2:02:41] Speaker 29: be some support coming.
[2:02:42] Speaker 6: Out of her mouth. Randon, did I see two black
[2:02:47] Speaker 6: people sitting on that couch? Harris trifling as Faulkner in
[2:02:55] Speaker 6: Charles Payne not an agreeing Do you recall Milania saying
[2:03:05] Speaker 6: anything when Trump posted a video displaying Michelle and Barak
[2:03:12] Speaker 6: as monkeys. I don't recall Milannia saying to her twice
[2:03:20] Speaker 6: in Peach crimly convicted pooping in his pants, husband, take
[2:03:26] Speaker 6: that crap down. So these ignorant ass fools, they have
[2:03:32] Speaker 6: the audacity to say that Michelle needs to come to
[2:03:36] Speaker 6: the defense of Milania.
[2:03:43] Speaker 18: I don't even see how they got the word, how
[2:03:45] Speaker 18: she got the words out of her mouth, like the
[2:03:47] Speaker 18: absolute ad audacity is just stunning. This is a woman
[2:03:52] Speaker 18: who has watched her husband rip apart and didn't agree everybody.
[2:03:58] Speaker 18: I can't even say just black people. The man attacks everybody,
[2:04:01] Speaker 18: but specifically. It hasn't been a month that the man
[2:04:05] Speaker 18: posted a video depicting former President of Barack Obambi and
[2:04:11] Speaker 18: Michelle as monkeys.
[2:04:13] Speaker 5: And did she speak up?
[2:04:15] Speaker 18: And let me just say that the first Lady said
[2:04:17] Speaker 18: that her platform was going to be anti bullying, which
[2:04:21] Speaker 18: is a joke considering her husband is the Billies's biggest
[2:04:24] Speaker 18: bully that has ever walked this earth.
[2:04:27] Speaker 5: I mean, it seems as if.
[2:04:31] Speaker 18: These are people who always speak about Christianity and they
[2:04:34] Speaker 18: only expect black folks to be Christians like we are,
[2:04:37] Speaker 18: the ones who are supposed to smile and accept terrible treatment,
[2:04:42] Speaker 18: as they seem to accept and actually embrace the horrific
[2:04:47] Speaker 18: treatment of that their leader puts on everybody else.
[2:04:51] Speaker 5: I mean, it's unbelievable. It's absolutely unbelieving. She had the
[2:04:54] Speaker 5: audacity to say that. I don't see how she didn't
[2:04:57] Speaker 5: fall out.
[2:04:57] Speaker 20: I could, Yeah, people.
[2:05:00] Speaker 6: Nine the call Nicole, I'm gonna go old school. I
[2:05:05] Speaker 6: don't know what these folks say they time bout cap.
[2:05:08] Speaker 6: I don't use that I'm gonna down, use that I'm
[2:05:11] Speaker 6: gonna go old school. She had the gall to let
[2:05:18] Speaker 6: that come out of her mouth, and they lived to
[2:05:20] Speaker 6: nad n Ass. It's like mm hm oh yeah.
[2:05:27] Speaker 5: The audacity.
[2:05:28] Speaker 20: If that's one thing they're gonna have, it's audacity.
[2:05:30] Speaker 19: And we know Michelle Obama doesn't owe Millennia Trump anything.
[2:05:35] Speaker 19: They're lucky that Michelle Obama doesn't come out swinging against them.
[2:05:39] Speaker 19: But as we know, Michelle Obama said, when they go low,
[2:05:41] Speaker 19: we go high. But she ain't about to go that high. Okay,
[2:05:45] Speaker 19: this has been an administration, administration that has dehumanized her
[2:05:48] Speaker 19: and her husband. Long before Trump even came into office,
[2:05:52] Speaker 19: he was questioning whether or not they were born in America.
[2:05:55] Speaker 19: I mean, the list goes on and on and on
[2:05:58] Speaker 19: about how they have this expected Michelle Obama, and then
[2:06:02] Speaker 19: he got the nerve to ask her to stand up
[2:06:04] Speaker 19: and say something.
[2:06:06] Speaker 6: Musta for I'm gonna go one more. That child had
[2:06:10] Speaker 6: the caucassidy to let that come out of her mouth.
[2:06:17] Speaker 6: And it's amazing how they want black folk to stand up,
[2:06:22] Speaker 6: support and show compassion when Malania ain't said a damn
[2:06:27] Speaker 6: word about the vicious attacks. And let me remind everybody
[2:06:32] Speaker 6: watching and listening that Malania Trump sorry ass is a birtha.
[2:06:40] Speaker 6: Malania Trump was on Jeorge Behar's Headline News show with
[2:06:46] Speaker 6: that birth of nonsense. Oh, I ain't no way in
[2:06:49] Speaker 6: hell Michelle Obama should say a damn thing coming to
[2:06:54] Speaker 6: the aid of the fence. Let Malania talk, but she
[2:06:57] Speaker 6: can't because she can barely speak English.
[2:07:02] Speaker 22: You gotta be with caucassidy.
[2:07:03] Speaker 30: You know that's my word. I wrote a poem about it. Yeah,
[2:07:08] Speaker 30: my auntie would say, you don't lost your damn mind.
[2:07:11] Speaker 30: It's just crazy. I don't know what is going on
[2:07:14] Speaker 30: in that studio. They either got some gummies going on
[2:07:16] Speaker 30: in there, or or some dark liquor or something that's.
[2:07:20] Speaker 31: Going on, because first Lady Michelle Obama has been so
[2:07:24] Speaker 31: gracious with her time when in the spotlight, and I
[2:07:28] Speaker 31: mean they were just vicious about her looks, about her intellect,
[2:07:34] Speaker 31: about so many things that were completely false, and so
[2:07:38] Speaker 31: for her to say something in this moment makes no
[2:07:41] Speaker 31: sense whatsoever, nor should she, as all the other panelists.
[2:07:44] Speaker 3: Have said, but it is.
[2:07:46] Speaker 10: You know, it's sort of par for the course for
[2:07:48] Speaker 10: these folks because once again, privilege makes you think that
[2:07:52] Speaker 10: you can say and do anything to everyone else. But
[2:07:55] Speaker 10: then they are supposed to come to your defense because.
[2:07:58] Speaker 22: Of some God given right. So I'm glad that there's
[2:08:02] Speaker 22: silence there.
[2:08:03] Speaker 10: The first lady continues to be gracious, and she should
[2:08:06] Speaker 10: not even, you know, dip her toe into this poison
[2:08:09] Speaker 10: pool that they have.
[2:08:13] Speaker 1: This is me.
[2:08:18] Speaker 6: Portraying Michelle Obama. Huh m hm uh it's somebody talking.
[2:08:29] Speaker 6: I'm you talking. Huh y'all, y'all talk to me to
[2:08:36] Speaker 6: say what about her? What's for lunch?
[2:08:42] Speaker 11: Mhm?
[2:08:43] Speaker 6: That's how I respond Fox News, Emily, you got your
[2:08:47] Speaker 6: damn mind? How how dare y'all? How dare y'all sit
[2:08:51] Speaker 6: here and say that, especially with all the trash that
[2:08:55] Speaker 6: is emanated from Harris Faulkner's mouth about the Obama's You're
[2:08:59] Speaker 6: gonna get your monkey ass down too. Oh. I know
[2:09:02] Speaker 6: y'all might say, ooh, you call Harris fonnk a monkey. No,
[2:09:04] Speaker 6: that's a Robin Harris line. Okay, So just because any
[2:09:07] Speaker 6: of y'all, if y'all ain't seen Baby's kids, hair's Faultner,
[2:09:10] Speaker 6: you're gonna sit her ass down too, because she sounded
[2:09:13] Speaker 6: like a damn fool sitting there. Uh key k in
[2:09:16] Speaker 6: with Emily saying, oh yeah, she should defend Malani. Hell. Now,
[2:09:20] Speaker 6: Milanie ain't said a damn thing, but the attacks on
[2:09:23] Speaker 6: Michelle Obama, their attacks on morocc Obama, the attacks on
[2:09:26] Speaker 6: all the other black folk. She let her crazy. First
[2:09:29] Speaker 6: of all, she ain't even in the White House. They
[2:09:31] Speaker 6: gotta pay her to show up. So why don't y'all
[2:09:33] Speaker 6: talk about that? Yeah, y'all, damn mind man, Let me
[2:09:37] Speaker 6: go to a damn commercial break for I cut these

[2:10:16] Speaker 14: you and your family informed and healthy. I'm doctor Ebity Hilton,
[2:10:20] Speaker 14: and I knew at the age of.
[2:10:21] Speaker 5: Eight that I wanted to be a doctor.
[2:10:23] Speaker 14: So I studied hard and became the first African American
[2:10:26] Speaker 14: female and sociologist hired at the Medical University of South
[2:10:30] Speaker 14: Carolina since.
[2:10:31] Speaker 3: It's opening in eighteen twenty four.
[2:10:33] Speaker 14: And I always say I was made into a doctor,
[2:10:35] Speaker 14: but I was born to be a mom. And as
[2:10:38] Speaker 14: a new mom, wife's, sister, daughter, and friend, I understand
[2:10:41] Speaker 14: how frightening a medical crisis can be.

[2:11:27] Speaker 12: Don't miss it Thursdays only on the Blackstar Network.
[2:11:35] Speaker 3: How you doing it?
[2:11:36] Speaker 6: I'm Mark Curry and you're watching the black Star Network.
[2:11:39] Speaker 6: That's why I got these glass long for that black
[2:11:41] Speaker 6: Star is bright. All right, y'all? Women having the period,
[2:12:10] Speaker 6: it's a reality for women seeking greater comfort and mobility
[2:12:13] Speaker 6: during the cycle. Finding the right product can make all
[2:12:15] Speaker 6: the difference in their daily lives. Today's segment, our Guests
[2:12:20] Speaker 6: is transforming period care with a more convenient and eco
[2:12:23] Speaker 6: friendly minstrual product. Honor is a period a pair of
[2:12:26] Speaker 6: brand that offers patent reusable underwear featuring a flexible absorbacy
[2:12:31] Speaker 6: system allowing users to swap liners throughout the day. Cecilia
[2:12:34] Speaker 6: town Scott, founder of Honor, joins us right now, Cecilia,
[2:12:38] Speaker 6: glad to have you here. And so all right, we
[2:12:41] Speaker 6: always ask owners what led them to this h and
[2:12:45] Speaker 6: for you, was it just not finding proper products?
[2:12:49] Speaker 5: Yeah?
[2:12:50] Speaker 13: And thank you so much for allowing me to be here.
[2:12:52] Speaker 5: Roland.
[2:12:53] Speaker 33: Yeah, so I now I work as an attorney, but
[2:12:56] Speaker 33: before I did that, I worked in Chicago public schools
[2:12:59] Speaker 33: and you know, wanting to have a more eco friendly
[2:13:03] Speaker 33: period we all know the earth is on fire, and
[2:13:06] Speaker 33: using traditional period panties, the liner for them is sewn
[2:13:11] Speaker 33: into them.
[2:13:12] Speaker 13: And so imagine what that's like.
[2:13:13] Speaker 33: You have your period pannies, You work in a high school,
[2:13:17] Speaker 33: you have four minutes between classes?
[2:13:19] Speaker 5: What are you going to do? Right?
[2:13:21] Speaker 33: And we're Fromtion, We're big. I'm in Chicago, So in
[2:13:23] Speaker 33: the middle, in the middle of the winter, that's having
[2:13:26] Speaker 33: to take take off pants, possibly leggings, remove the underwear,
[2:13:31] Speaker 33: put on a new pair of underwear, and try to
[2:13:33] Speaker 33: make it back to class.
[2:13:34] Speaker 5: Like it was just too much.
[2:13:36] Speaker 33: And so I learned sewing from my mother, So I've
[2:13:39] Speaker 33: always known how to sew entrepreneurship from both my parents,
[2:13:42] Speaker 33: and so just kind of start thinking like, Okay, how
[2:13:45] Speaker 33: can we do this better?
[2:13:46] Speaker 13: Right, Like there's a lot of brands out there, but
[2:13:49] Speaker 13: with everything.
[2:13:49] Speaker 33: Else in the market, we're kind of marinating in our
[2:13:51] Speaker 33: own magic all day, and I just felt like we
[2:13:54] Speaker 33: could do better.
[2:13:54] Speaker 5: And so Honor was born.
[2:13:56] Speaker 6: So you were mainly thinking of young women who were
[2:13:58] Speaker 6: in middle school, high high school who have these issues
[2:14:02] Speaker 6: where they are at school all day.
[2:14:06] Speaker 20: Middle school, in high school.
[2:14:07] Speaker 33: But honestly, grown women as well, postpartum women as well,
[2:14:12] Speaker 33: women with bladder leaks as well. Right, Like, there are
[2:14:15] Speaker 33: actually a number of groups of women who have issues
[2:14:19] Speaker 33: with either period, blood or something leaking. Right, and literally
[2:14:24] Speaker 33: we got the patent because everything else on the market
[2:14:27] Speaker 33: only comes as one unit. There's literally nothing else on
[2:14:30] Speaker 33: the market where the absorbancy is removable. And so with
[2:14:33] Speaker 33: honor you get one brief but every package comes with
[2:14:35] Speaker 33: two liners, so you can you know, period into it
[2:14:38] Speaker 33: or bladder leak into it, and then when you need
[2:14:41] Speaker 33: to freshen up, you can remove the liner, put in
[2:14:44] Speaker 33: a fresh dry liner, and go on about your day.
[2:14:46] Speaker 33: And so you know, I say, with everybody else, you're
[2:14:49] Speaker 33: one and done, but with.
[2:14:50] Speaker 13: Us you kind of get two uses.
[2:14:52] Speaker 6: Wow, and y'all got the patent as well.
[2:14:54] Speaker 12: We got the patent.
[2:14:55] Speaker 6: Yes, okay, questions from the panel.
[2:14:58] Speaker 34: Rando you first, Well, first, let me thank you for
[2:15:02] Speaker 34: honoring women by even concentrating on something that has been needed,
[2:15:06] Speaker 34: because we know that the way this world is set up,
[2:15:10] Speaker 34: a lot of times we don't get the.
[2:15:12] Speaker 5: Products that we need to function. So thank you for that.
[2:15:17] Speaker 3: I wanted to.
[2:15:17] Speaker 18: Ask you and you just mentioned that this is not
[2:15:19] Speaker 18: just for younger women, but older women as well, And
[2:15:25] Speaker 18: I wanted to ask you, like, where can we people
[2:15:27] Speaker 18: buy your I know we can buy it here, but
[2:15:28] Speaker 18: are you going to have it in retail stores as well?
[2:15:33] Speaker 33: Yes, thank you, thank you. So right now you can
[2:15:37] Speaker 33: buy it here. You can also buy it on our
[2:15:39] Speaker 33: website we on your Flow dot com. We are absolutely
[2:15:42] Speaker 33: kind of working and praying to get it in retail stores.
[2:15:45] Speaker 33: We had it on Walmart dot com and so you know,
[2:15:48] Speaker 33: we're continuing to work on that, but definitely trying to
[2:15:51] Speaker 33: expand the number of places where the product is offered.
[2:15:55] Speaker 13: But right now it is offered with Roland Martin and
[2:15:58] Speaker 13: on we on your Flow dot com.
[2:16:01] Speaker 6: All right, cool, So yeah, so shot black Start Network
[2:16:03] Speaker 6: dot com. So while y'all watching this segment, y'all can
[2:16:05] Speaker 6: go to shop Blackstardnetwork dot com. Nicole, go, hold up,
[2:16:12] Speaker 6: can hear you you're mute? Your mute? All right? Okay,
[2:16:23] Speaker 6: all right, we'll figure it out. Let me go to
[2:16:24] Speaker 6: the stop for them connect to the co.
[2:16:27] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:16:28] Speaker 10: Well, it's great to hear you talk about eco friendly
[2:16:30] Speaker 10: and you know, I work a lot with chemicals and
[2:16:33] Speaker 10: I know how impactful they can be to the body,
[2:16:36] Speaker 10: and I remember the days of toxic shock syndrome. Can
[2:16:39] Speaker 10: you talk a little bit about how yours are eco
[2:16:42] Speaker 10: friendly and how they are healthier and safer.
[2:16:46] Speaker 33: Absolutely, thank you so much for that question. So that
[2:16:49] Speaker 33: was actually it took us a while to get.
[2:16:51] Speaker 13: Our final product ready and that was a big part
[2:16:53] Speaker 13: of it.
[2:16:54] Speaker 33: So a huge conversation in period where especially in the
[2:16:58] Speaker 33: one time used products is p fas is. These are
[2:17:03] Speaker 33: basically forever chemicals that are found in literally everything, and
[2:17:07] Speaker 33: so when we that was actually one of the questions
[2:17:10] Speaker 33: that we asked our manufacturer when we were trying to
[2:17:12] Speaker 33: figure out like where we you know, getting the fabrics
[2:17:15] Speaker 33: and who's going to make it for us?
[2:17:16] Speaker 13: You know, do your products have p.
[2:17:19] Speaker 5: Fas is in them?
[2:17:20] Speaker 33: And our manufacturer kind of sent us their certificate it says,
[2:17:22] Speaker 33: you know, like we do not have those those chemicals
[2:17:25] Speaker 33: in the products that we're using. Because part of the
[2:17:28] Speaker 33: research and kind of what got us to the name
[2:17:31] Speaker 33: we started off as honor your Flow because when you
[2:17:34] Speaker 33: do the research about menstruation, you find out that you
[2:17:37] Speaker 33: may bleed for you know, three to seven days, but
[2:17:40] Speaker 33: what actually impacts how you experience your period is what
[2:17:44] Speaker 33: you're doing for the rest of the month, So the
[2:17:47] Speaker 33: products that you're putting on your body, the chemicals that
[2:17:49] Speaker 33: you're being exposed to, your diet, your exercise, like all
[2:17:52] Speaker 33: those sort of things.
[2:17:53] Speaker 13: So we actually made the product with.
[2:17:56] Speaker 33: That in mind, you know, to not have all of
[2:17:59] Speaker 33: those chemicals that are in the one time use products.
[2:18:03] Speaker 33: There's always you know, there's some things that most products
[2:18:06] Speaker 33: have to kind of be sprayed with, you know, because
[2:18:08] Speaker 33: they're being shipped and things of that sort. But we
[2:18:12] Speaker 33: did take special care to make sure that our products
[2:18:15] Speaker 33: do not have the PFASs that are in one time
[2:18:17] Speaker 33: used products.
[2:18:18] Speaker 13: Because of the way that it can affect your body.
[2:18:20] Speaker 33: And just again, a lot of the stuff that's out
[2:18:23] Speaker 33: in the market was not made by us, not made
[2:18:26] Speaker 33: for us, not made with our health in mind. And
[2:18:28] Speaker 33: so I'm a big thing for us is kind of
[2:18:31] Speaker 33: when we make products for ourselves, we do it better, right,
[2:18:34] Speaker 33: And so.
[2:18:35] Speaker 13: That was a big part of the brand.
[2:18:37] Speaker 6: I think we got the coldes audio straight in the
[2:18:38] Speaker 6: cod Yes I'm bad.
[2:18:40] Speaker 20: So I think this product is so incredible.
[2:18:42] Speaker 19: And I was wondering if you could talk a little
[2:18:44] Speaker 19: bit more about accessibility because I know a lot of
[2:18:47] Speaker 19: women live in areas where they can't easily access the
[2:18:49] Speaker 19: CBS or Walgreens to get the products that they need.
[2:18:52] Speaker 19: But if they have something that they can use multiple times,
[2:18:55] Speaker 19: you know, that might make things a little bit easier.
[2:18:57] Speaker 33: So can we talk about that, sure, So that's another
[2:19:02] Speaker 33: big part I think you know, and we're just so
[2:19:04] Speaker 33: thankful for while we got the patent, because a big
[2:19:06] Speaker 33: accessibility piece here is the fact that you can remove
[2:19:10] Speaker 33: the liner. Uh, that you can remove the liner when
[2:19:13] Speaker 33: you're wearing it. I know you talked about accessibility as
[2:19:16] Speaker 33: far as location, but I also want to talk about
[2:19:18] Speaker 33: accessibility as far as ability right for folks who might
[2:19:23] Speaker 33: be wheelchair bound or just might have issues putting their
[2:19:27] Speaker 33: pants on and off. Something where you can remove the
[2:19:30] Speaker 33: liner is going to allow that group of people to
[2:19:34] Speaker 33: access a sustainable period And then to you know, the
[2:19:37] Speaker 33: actual point that you made my apologies for Right now,
[2:19:41] Speaker 33: we are offered the product is offered on our website,
[2:19:44] Speaker 33: so even if you don't have a CBS that is
[2:19:46] Speaker 33: near you, we ship everywhere.
[2:19:48] Speaker 13: We ship definitely everywhere in the US, we have shipped overseas.
[2:19:52] Speaker 33: We are willing to shift any and everywhere because accessibility
[2:19:56] Speaker 33: when it comes to period products is such a huge thing.
[2:19:59] Speaker 33: Uh that taps on the reusable part of it as well. Right, Like,
[2:20:03] Speaker 33: if you can't get to a CBS very often, but
[2:20:05] Speaker 33: you have these period candies that you can wash over
[2:20:08] Speaker 33: and over and over again, and literally all pieces of
[2:20:11] Speaker 33: our product that's from the brief to the liner, to
[2:20:14] Speaker 33: the waterproof wetbag, all of that comes with it.
[2:20:16] Speaker 13: You can throw the whole thing in the washer, in
[2:20:18] Speaker 13: the dryer and it lasts for years.
[2:20:22] Speaker 6: So folks, ladies, mothers, aunts, cousins, sisters, wives, you name it,
[2:20:30] Speaker 6: and of course men, you can also buy products as
[2:20:32] Speaker 6: well for the women in your family. Go to shop
[2:20:34] Speaker 6: black Stundnetwork dot com. The product is called Honor. Go
[2:20:37] Speaker 6: to shop black Studnetwork dot com. This is the website.
[2:20:40] Speaker 6: If you go there, you can check out the products
[2:20:42] Speaker 6: as we speak. Please support this black owned company. Great
[2:20:46] Speaker 6: product and great job, Cecilia. We appreciate it.
[2:20:49] Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Thank you so much. Thank you for
[2:20:51] Speaker 5: having me.
[2:20:52] Speaker 6: All Right, a couple of things to close out the show. First,
[2:20:55] Speaker 6: I saw this story, y'all three weeks ago, and I
[2:20:58] Speaker 6: really tried my best to Are some white people just
[2:21:06] Speaker 6: so stressed that they can't avoid black people just minding
[2:21:14] Speaker 6: their own damn business. A group of black women are
[2:21:19] Speaker 6: in a park. They just working out, They are just
[2:21:24] Speaker 6: minding their own black business. They are just having themselves
[2:21:29] Speaker 6: a good time, trying to get their bodies in shape.
[2:21:32] Speaker 6: And this ignorant ass Karen decide to bring her trifling
[2:21:38] Speaker 6: ass over to mess with them. Go ahead, PRIs play.
[2:21:48] Speaker 5: Do she own the park?
[2:21:49] Speaker 7: Okay?
[2:21:50] Speaker 18: That's whyn't charge anybody?
[2:21:51] Speaker 19: Just find you.
[2:21:52] Speaker 5: But I don't know.
[2:21:54] Speaker 13: That's for my stuff that they're using.
[2:21:56] Speaker 5: That's where it pays for. So manyo, got in a business.
[2:21:58] Speaker 5: Take your asshole, I mean, do you want.
[2:22:19] Speaker 6: What is a problem, Nicole. I'm telling you Donald Trump
[2:22:31] Speaker 6: gonna get some white folks ass what I mean this
[2:22:35] Speaker 6: idea that you think you just own the park and
[2:22:40] Speaker 6: you just can roll up and question the folks. I
[2:22:43] Speaker 6: have been to numerous parks, not one time that I go.
[2:22:48] Speaker 6: They don't look like they belong here. It's a part
[2:22:51] Speaker 6: girl gonna sit your plane, Jane ass down. She should
[2:22:56] Speaker 6: she should take her ass shopping.
[2:23:00] Speaker 20: Because a stir she had anyway.
[2:23:02] Speaker 19: Anyway, you know, not only do they think that they
[2:23:04] Speaker 19: own parks and streets, they think they own the whole
[2:23:07] Speaker 19: world that anywhere where black people are existing with joy
[2:23:11] Speaker 19: and happiness that they need to try to come and
[2:23:13] Speaker 19: shut it down.
[2:23:14] Speaker 5: But we are not taking that. We never have and
[2:23:16] Speaker 5: we never will.
[2:23:17] Speaker 20: So that's why she got turned away and roasted.
[2:23:20] Speaker 19: Because she thought because she had the caucasidy, like we
[2:23:22] Speaker 19: talked about earlier, they hate this years even exist.
[2:23:25] Speaker 20: So I'm not surprised by this.
[2:23:28] Speaker 6: I mean, I just I sit here, Randy, and it's
[2:23:35] Speaker 6: like in moments like this, that's where you want to
[2:23:37] Speaker 6: have that radio Rahen boombox. Well her ass start talking,
[2:23:41] Speaker 6: you just turn it up and drown her silly ass out.
[2:23:49] Speaker 5: You know, we talk about it all the time.
[2:23:51] Speaker 18: I'm fine white women in particular to be obsessed with us.
[2:23:57] Speaker 5: All of us have the experience of being out maybe
[2:23:59] Speaker 5: not apart, but a restaurant.
[2:24:01] Speaker 18: Or anywhere, and they are just even if they don't
[2:24:04] Speaker 18: say something, because some of them have a little bit
[2:24:06] Speaker 18: of sense, but they are paying attention, like can't even
[2:24:11] Speaker 18: help themselves from staring.
[2:24:12] Speaker 5: So yes, they are obsessed.
[2:24:14] Speaker 18: And I know one thing that drives me crazy is
[2:24:16] Speaker 18: they're always threatening to call the police or something like they're.
[2:24:20] Speaker 5: Right, it's just like that.
[2:24:24] Speaker 18: There should be laws that protect us, right taxpayers from
[2:24:30] Speaker 18: white women using the police as their personal security because
[2:24:34] Speaker 18: they call for frivolous things just to exert their control
[2:24:37] Speaker 18: over black people gets on my nerves.
[2:24:43] Speaker 6: I think, Mustapo, we are going to have to we
[2:24:48] Speaker 6: got to pull that scene from Friday, uh with Chris Tucks.
[2:24:53] Speaker 6: We just don't have to see there and teach every
[2:24:56] Speaker 6: black person this here, move your little silly ass on. See,
[2:25:02] Speaker 6: I'm not even I'm not addressing these people like we
[2:25:09] Speaker 6: didn't even That was a forty four second sound bite
[2:25:13] Speaker 6: that Sucker lasted by forty two seconds too long.
[2:25:21] Speaker 10: Well, I mean they try and play with us, right
[2:25:24] Speaker 10: because historically they've been able to play with us. They've
[2:25:26] Speaker 10: been able to they lose to be laws that you
[2:25:29] Speaker 10: couldn't go into certain parks, you know, and they would
[2:25:32] Speaker 10: come and arrest us.
[2:25:33] Speaker 22: But that's not the reality anymore.
[2:25:35] Speaker 10: And people need to understand that this is twenty twenty
[2:25:38] Speaker 10: six and not nineteen fifty six.
[2:25:40] Speaker 22: The other part of it is, let's just be honest. Also,
[2:25:42] Speaker 22: there's a lot of jealousy. There's jealousy against black women.
[2:25:46] Speaker 22: You know, those sisters is out there keeping it tight,
[2:25:48] Speaker 22: keeping it right, and you know, enjoying the sun. And
[2:25:52] Speaker 22: as was said, earlier, embracing their joy, and for some
[2:25:55] Speaker 22: folks that can be triggering because in many instances there
[2:25:58] Speaker 22: are other folks across our country who are not happy.
[2:26:01] Speaker 10: They're not happy with themselves, so they often want to
[2:26:03] Speaker 10: take it out on folks who are so you know,
[2:26:07] Speaker 10: I would say we should pray for folks, but they
[2:26:09] Speaker 10: need to pray for themselves because the darkness that's inside
[2:26:13] Speaker 10: of them continues to come out, and sometimes that darkness
[2:26:16] Speaker 10: will cost you absolutely.
[2:26:19] Speaker 6: So these people, they they ooh, they just gets as
[2:26:24] Speaker 6: a folk back in. They say, y'all working my nerves.
[2:26:30] Speaker 6: You work in my last black nerve. Nicole will style
[2:26:33] Speaker 6: for and Randy, I appreciate y'all being today's japound. Think
[2:26:36] Speaker 6: it so very much again, see y'all next week, y'all
[2:26:39] Speaker 6: this time a Black stud Network headlines of Brittey.
[2:26:41] Speaker 35: Noble, a Louisiana Fifth Circuit Appeals Court ruling lots of
[2:26:50] Speaker 35: newly elected Calvin Duncan from taking office again. On Monday,
[2:26:53] Speaker 35: Duncan arrived at Orleans Parish Criminal Court for his first
[2:26:56] Speaker 35: day in office as a new clerk of Criminal Court,
[2:26:59] Speaker 35: but was only able to serve for a few hours.
[2:27:03] Speaker 35: A federal judge temporarily suspended the previous ruling that cleared
[2:27:07] Speaker 35: the way for Duncan to take office. On Sunday, Judge
[2:27:09] Speaker 35: John Gravel's temporarily shruck down a new state law that
[2:27:14] Speaker 35: was signed by Governor Jeff Landry to eliminate the office
[2:27:18] Speaker 35: of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Clerk. In his ruling,
[2:27:22] Speaker 35: he said that the new law was unconstitutional and disenfranchised voters.

[2:29:20] Speaker 35: issues such as health disparities and economic inequality that affect
[2:29:25] Speaker 35: our community well. The Indiana Black Expo is making a
[2:29:29] Speaker 35: significant change to its Circle City Classic event by replacing

[2:30:11] Speaker 35: the organization's primary fundraisers and In Florida, an eighteen year
[2:30:17] Speaker 35: old who was making history as the youngest graduate from
[2:30:19] Speaker 35: Florida State University's College of Nursing program, Demitria Coli, earned
[2:30:24] Speaker 35: her degree after.
[2:30:26] Speaker 13: An impressive academic journey.
[2:30:27] Speaker 35: Her father, Demetria, as a science teacher, homeschoolder and by
[2:30:31] Speaker 35: the age of fifteen, she had already earned her associate
[2:30:34] Speaker 35: degree from Tallahassee Community College, becoming the youngest graduate in
[2:30:38] Speaker 35: that school's history. Her educational path was accelerated from the beginning.
[2:30:42] Speaker 35: She graduated high school and college simultaneously, and then completed
[2:30:47] Speaker 35: her prerequisites at Florida and M University before enrolling at
[2:30:51] Speaker 35: Florida State University.
[2:30:52] Speaker 5: Now she is.
[2:30:53] Speaker 35: Following in the footsteps of her mom, Alicia, a nurse
[2:30:56] Speaker 35: who sadly passed away from a variant cancer in twenty twenty,
[2:30:59] Speaker 35: but the met was just thirteen years old. But now
[2:31:02] Speaker 35: she is channeling that loss and to purpose. During her
[2:31:06] Speaker 35: time at FSU, she gained experience training at Tallahassee Memorial
[2:31:10] Speaker 35: Health Care, and she now plans to work as a
[2:31:13] Speaker 35: Neo Native intensive care unit nurse.
[2:31:17] Speaker 5: We wish her well. Roland got to you.
[2:31:20] Speaker 6: All right, folks, being sure tune in to the breakdown
[2:31:22] Speaker 6: Briathy Noble everyday, noon eastern right here in the Blackstar Network.
[2:31:25] Speaker 6: Again the Noble everyday noon eastern on the Black Star Network.
[2:31:29] Speaker 6: Y'all last story here Today a group of bishops joined
[2:31:36] Speaker 6: together to announce a national initiative to focus on the
[2:31:41] Speaker 6: election as well as social justice. Today in Chicago, led
[2:31:46] Speaker 6: by a Bishop of Byron Brade of Apostolic Church of God,
[2:31:49] Speaker 6: the National me go and to read this for you,
[2:31:53] Speaker 6: the National Faith and Justice Council made their announcement. Their
[2:31:57] Speaker 6: goal is this newly formed coalition. Their goal is to
[2:32:00] Speaker 6: feature presiding bishops representatives of the various churches too committed
[2:32:04] Speaker 6: to serving as a unified, moral, spiritual and civic voice
[2:32:07] Speaker 6: during a time of growing social fragmentations, civic instability, and
[2:32:10] Speaker 6: community distress. Here's some of the communists we livestream this event.
[2:32:14] Speaker 6: Here's some of what Bishop Brazier had to say today.
[2:32:18] Speaker 5: Today has not simply been a conversation.
[2:32:22] Speaker 27: It really has been a declaration, a declaration that faith
[2:32:26] Speaker 27: leadership in this nation is still strong, a declaration that
[2:32:30] Speaker 27: unity across denominations is not only possible, it is necessary,
[2:32:36] Speaker 27: and a declaration that the Church still has a vital
[2:32:39] Speaker 27: role to play in shaping the moral, spiritual and civic
[2:32:43] Speaker 27: direction of our communities. We have affirmed something that is
[2:32:50] Speaker 27: not just powerful, but extraordinary, unified unit, united faith leadership
[2:32:58] Speaker 27: that will create in a community, organized people will create
[2:33:03] Speaker 27: transformation and the Church will guide the process as the
[2:33:08] Speaker 27: change agent for justice and restoration. But let us be
[2:33:13] Speaker 27: clear what has been shared today but must now be activated.
[2:33:19] Speaker 27: This moment requires more than agreement. It requires alignment with
[2:33:23] Speaker 27: faith leaders, pastors, congregations, stakeholders, and partners. It requires structure,
[2:33:31] Speaker 27: and it requires movement. The National Faith and Justice Council
[2:33:36] Speaker 27: is not simply an idea. It is an apparatus, an organized,
[2:33:41] Speaker 27: discipline and intentional framework designed to mobilize leaders, congregations, and
[2:33:47] Speaker 27: communities across this nation. Our first mobilization will be in
[2:33:53] Speaker 27: voter registration and voter turnout. We must understand that we
[2:33:59] Speaker 27: do not participate when others try to decide for us,
[2:34:05] Speaker 27: but when we are organized, informed, and unified, we will
[2:34:09] Speaker 27: shape outcomes of generations to come.
[2:34:12] Speaker 3: This is not about politics. This is about responsibility. This
[2:34:17] Speaker 3: is about stewardship.
[2:34:18] Speaker 27: This is about the future of our communities and the
[2:34:21] Speaker 27: generations still yet to come. The Declaration of Freedom reminds
[2:34:26] Speaker 27: us that we are not powerless, but we are positioned,
[2:34:31] Speaker 27: and we live this moment with clarity. We will educate,
[2:34:35] Speaker 27: we will organize, we will mobilize, and we will sustain
[2:34:41] Speaker 27: to the people of faith.
[2:34:43] Speaker 3: Together, we will walk.
[2:34:45] Speaker 27: We will not walk away from this moment, and I
[2:34:49] Speaker 27: just want to take the time to thank each and
[2:34:51] Speaker 27: every one of the participants, to thank them for their commitment,
[2:34:56] Speaker 27: and to thank them for standing together.
[2:34:59] Speaker 3: For together, we will move forward.
