5.12.2026 #RolandMartinUnfiltered:SCOTUS Clears Ala. Black District Cut. Racist ‘Cotton-Picking’ Attack on Jeffries. Trump Competency Questions Grow The Supreme Court's conservative majority has cleared the way for Alabama to revert to a congressional map that includes only one majority-Black district, eliminating Congressman Shomari Figures' seat. I'll speak with him about his commitment to fight for his position. In South Carolina, lawmakers are considering a proposed congressional map that would remove a Democratic-leaning seat currently held by Representative Jim Clyburn. Virginia Representative Jen Kiggans, a white Republican, is facing backlash for agreeing with a conservative radio host who urged Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to get his "cotton-picking hands off Virginia." We will also examine the historical reasons the Black unemployment rate has consistently been higher than the overall unemployment rate, even during periods of economic strength. The competency of Donald Trump, the twice-impeached and criminally convicted former president, is being questioned once more. He recently called a Black reporter an offensive name and fell asleep during an Oval Office event. In tonight's Shop Black Star Network segment, we will feature a kids' skincare line that offers natural, safe products for melanin-rich skin. [7:56] Speaker 18: and from the conscious.
[7:57] Speaker 10: Of those who claim no creed but justice.
[8:02] Speaker 18: We come from labor unions and picket lines, from classrooms
[8:07] Speaker 18: and hospital corridors, from the bedside of the uninsured, and
[8:12] Speaker 18: the kitchens of the working poor. As those who have
[8:16] Speaker 18: been failed by every system built.
[8:19] Speaker 19: To serve them.
[8:20] Speaker 20: We showed up anyway.
[8:24] Speaker 15: We are diverse in.
[8:25] Speaker 18: Our doctrine, we are united in what we are demanding
[8:28] Speaker 18: of you. Mister Presidents. We need you to hear us,
[8:33] Speaker 18: Members of Congress. Every tradition here teaches the same truth.
[8:40] Speaker 18: Human life is sacred, not some lives, not a few lives,
[8:46] Speaker 18: but all lives.
[8:48] Speaker 15: The earth is not ours to destroy. The poor are
[8:52] Speaker 15: not disposable.
[8:54] Speaker 18: Those sink deserve healing, workers deserve dignity, Immigrants deserve welcome,
[9:00] Speaker 18: deserve a future without a.
[9:01] Speaker 15: Shadow of war.
[9:04] Speaker 19: So hear us.
[9:05] Speaker 18: Clearly, mister President, hear us definitely, Members of Congress.
[9:12] Speaker 15: When you deny voting rights, are faith condemns it? When
[9:16] Speaker 15: you deny health care to the most vulnerable? Are faith
[9:19] Speaker 15: condemns it? When you choose an unholy war over peace?
[9:24] Speaker 15: Our faith condemns it.
[9:26] Speaker 18: When you de not living wages to the working people.
[9:29] Speaker 15: Our faith condemns it.
[9:31] Speaker 18: When you define public education and silence our teachers, Our
[9:36] Speaker 18: faith condemns it. When you ignore a dying planted and
[9:41] Speaker 18: silence the alarmed. Our faith condemns it. When you strip
[9:45] Speaker 18: dignity from immigrants, from women, from the part from the marginalized,
[9:50] Speaker 18: Our faith condemns it.
[9:53] Speaker 15: We are not one denomination. We are not one party.
[9:57] Speaker 18: We are not the opposition. We are the consequence. We
[10:03] Speaker 18: are the moral conscious of this nation, standing.
[10:07] Speaker 15: On your doorsteps because you work for us.
[10:12] Speaker 18: History is watching, God is watching, the spirit of humanity
[10:18] Speaker 18: is watching, and we.
[10:19] Speaker 13: Are not going anywhere.
[10:22] Speaker 18: Choose peace over prophet, Choose people over power.
[10:27] Speaker 15: Choose justice before justice chooses. You love war together. That
[10:36] Speaker 15: is our covenant, and that is our demand.
[10:41] Speaker 18: Look, you're gonna hear from so many different voices, from
[10:44] Speaker 18: every walks of life.
[10:48] Speaker 15: We're gonna hear from a veteran Rob Brandam.
[11:01] Speaker 13: Bring this If you can't, Mike, um, I want us
[11:06] Speaker 13: to be yah check check going in there. We are there,
[11:33] Speaker 13: We are all right. Somebody has said pollard together.
[11:37] Speaker 12: Now we've asked speakers, as Evan Broom just said and
[11:42] Speaker 12: shaped down framing. She named the forms of violence that
[11:46] Speaker 12: are connected to violence.
[11:48] Speaker 13: Our escalation is that for.
[11:50] Speaker 12: A few weeks we were over there on Black Lives
[11:52] Speaker 12: Matter Street. Now we have taken the street in front
[11:57] Speaker 12: of the White House in the middle of Lusha in DC.
[12:03] Speaker 12: Each speaker will speak two another issue of violence. We've
[12:09] Speaker 12: asked all the speakers, you don't have to speak on
[12:12] Speaker 12: somebody else's issue of violence. Stay right there because we
[12:16] Speaker 12: want folk.
[12:17] Speaker 13: To be clear.
[12:18] Speaker 12: Each speaker has got what we call the two minute
[12:21] Speaker 12: or one hundred and fifty Why for the fifty words,
[12:24] Speaker 12: because we are taking all of this and using it
[12:27] Speaker 12: throughout social media to drive consciousness.
[12:31] Speaker 13: Somebody say, there's a purpose to the method.
[12:36] Speaker 12: There's a method to what we're doing, and this is
[12:41] Speaker 12: why we wanted to have voices, not people who speak
[12:46] Speaker 12: on behalf of people, but voicin impacted. Now there are
[12:51] Speaker 12: about three speakers who will take a little bit more
[12:54] Speaker 12: than ten minutes. One of them is Phillis Bennett, who's
[12:57] Speaker 12: gonna come from institute the Politive Studies and really lay
[13:00] Speaker 12: out for us some things about this or we're not
[13:03] Speaker 12: hearing in the media. Another lady's gonna be a person
[13:06] Speaker 12: with conscious subjection. Because we want this to be a
[13:09] Speaker 12: place where people who may decide to make that.
[13:11] Speaker 13: Decision can in fact know exactly what it means and
[13:14] Speaker 13: how to do it.
[13:15] Speaker 12: All right, those persons will have some extra time in
[13:20] Speaker 12: the midst of this gathering.
[13:22] Speaker 13: At the end, my job is.
[13:24] Speaker 12: Gonna be to try to pull it all together and
[13:27] Speaker 12: synthesize it before we either go to a Pennsylvania avenue
[13:31] Speaker 12: or we decide right here to engage in a form
[13:35] Speaker 12: of non.
[13:36] Speaker 13: Violent civil disobedience.
[13:38] Speaker 12: We should also give a mighty shout out for all
[13:41] Speaker 12: of the other places.
[13:42] Speaker 13: Across the nation. Come on, let's I say, fallow together,
[13:47] Speaker 13: Come on, fall together.
[13:50] Speaker 12: I do want to ask the mic people to keep
[13:52] Speaker 12: the mic up. We will modulate, but keep it nice
[13:55] Speaker 12: and loud. We hope that some of the trembles right
[13:58] Speaker 12: on over there in the warehouse is other places, all right.
[14:02] Speaker 12: Remember to celebrate people as they come. Take the time,
[14:06] Speaker 12: because we know mean folk will take all night doing wrong.
[14:09] Speaker 12: We ought to be able to take a couple of
[14:11] Speaker 12: hours doing right.
[14:13] Speaker 13: All right, My.
[14:14] Speaker 21: Brother, greetings and sagutations beloved it.
[14:29] Speaker 15: My name is Robert Vincent Random. I am a Washingtonian.
[14:34] Speaker 15: I am a military service.
[14:36] Speaker 21: Connected disabled veteran.
[14:39] Speaker 22: The Constitution after these to preserve them, protect their defense
[14:44] Speaker 22: guarantees freedom for every for every American.
[14:49] Speaker 13: Freedom is for everyone.
[14:53] Speaker 15: Freedom is for the people.
[14:55] Speaker 11: The seven hundred and two thousand people who live in
[14:59] Speaker 11: the district don't Columbia.
[15:02] Speaker 22: So as a vectrin, I say, we want freedom for DC.
[15:09] Speaker 22: Freedom for DC, Freedom for DC.
[15:16] Speaker 15: God bless you, nice, got a.
[15:25] Speaker 23: Pile, Good afternoon, Good afternoon, DC, and the world.
[15:36] Speaker 15: These are hard times for all of us, for poor
[15:41] Speaker 15: and love wealth people here in this country.
[15:44] Speaker 23: And for the people under the bombs and facing genocide.
[15:48] Speaker 15: Around the world, often paid for by our tax dollars
[15:53] Speaker 15: without our consent. Do you hear that, mister President.
[15:59] Speaker 23: There are many kinds of violence, and we know that
[16:05] Speaker 23: the US Israeli war against Iran right now, one of
[16:10] Speaker 23: the most violent immediate places right now, is immoral and illegal.
[16:18] Speaker 23: It is a war of choice, and it is a
[16:21] Speaker 23: war of aggression. It is illegal here in the United States,
[16:27] Speaker 23: and it is illegal under international.
[16:29] Speaker 15: Law as well.
[16:32] Speaker 23: The cost of that war so far is over fifty
[16:38] Speaker 23: billion dollars of our money.
[16:42] Speaker 20: You know what we could do with that money.
[16:45] Speaker 23: We could put one and a half million people on medicaid.
[16:50] Speaker 10: We could have three.
[16:51] Speaker 23: Hundred and five thousand university scholarships. We could put seven
[16:57] Speaker 23: hundred and twenty seven thousand children into Headstart, and we
[17:03] Speaker 23: could have a living wage for eleven for one hundred
[17:07] Speaker 23: and seventeen thousand families. What's gonna keep us safer? What
[17:13] Speaker 23: makes us safer? Having uniformed, armed national guards walking around
[17:19] Speaker 23: our streets.
[17:20] Speaker 15: Does that make us safer?
[17:23] Speaker 5: I don't think so.
[17:24] Speaker 23: That is policy violence, and it's designed to prepare us.
[17:30] Speaker 23: It's designed to normalize the presence of armed, uniformed soldiers
[17:37] Speaker 23: on our streets. So when they show up on election day,
[17:42] Speaker 23: the people who look like me, who were born in
[17:44] Speaker 23: this country might not worry all that much because they're
[17:48] Speaker 23: not coming after us.
[17:50] Speaker 15: They're coming after the people of color.
[17:53] Speaker 23: They're coming after immigrants who are now citizens and have
[17:56] Speaker 23: the right to vote, but they don't want them to
[17:59] Speaker 23: vot vote. So that is another kind of violence in
[18:04] Speaker 23: Gaza today, where the genocide continues. The US has paid
[18:10] Speaker 23: almost twenty eight billion dollars directly.
[18:14] Speaker 15: To the Israeli military to pay for that genocide.
[18:19] Speaker 23: They promised ten billion more in twenty twenty four. Just
[18:25] Speaker 23: that one year, our tax money paid forty percent of
[18:30] Speaker 23: the entire Israeli military budget. We paid for the genocide
[18:36] Speaker 23: that is our country's violence.
[18:40] Speaker 15: The cost there if the genocide continues.
[18:44] Speaker 13: And it does.
[18:46] Speaker 15: Yesterday was Mother's Day.
[18:49] Speaker 23: The day before, seventeen people were killed by Israeli bombs
[18:54] Speaker 23: in Gaza.
[18:55] Speaker 15: On Mother's Day. The mothers of Gaza.
[18:58] Speaker 13: Were in mourningly many of them were children.
[19:01] Speaker 15: One was a baby only six months old.
[19:05] Speaker 23: The costs are massive. The costs there are in lives.
[19:12] Speaker 23: The costs in Iran thirty five hundred people killed so
[19:17] Speaker 23: far in this war, of whom a one hundred and
[19:20] Speaker 23: seventy five were children, killed the first day in their school.
[19:26] Speaker 15: Remember that shame indeed.
[19:28] Speaker 23: And the shame is on us and on Israel who
[19:32] Speaker 23: launched this war together.
[19:34] Speaker 15: There is no ceasefire. We need accountability. We need to
[19:41] Speaker 15: stop allowing our money to be paid to continue these wards.
[19:47] Speaker 23: And when we fight for justice here, when we fight
[19:50] Speaker 23: for jobs and health care and education, we know that
[19:54] Speaker 23: that fight is not complete until we include the Palestinians
[19:59] Speaker 23: and the Venezuela and the Iranians in our fight.
[20:02] Speaker 18: Thank you, stop the war. Save We are going to
[20:11] Speaker 18: hear some voices denying peace. But she was in an
[20:14] Speaker 18: unhoathly war as they come.
[20:20] Speaker 24: I'm Sandy Lawrenson, and I'm a formerly member of the
[20:24] Speaker 24: National Staff of the United Church of Christ where I
[20:26] Speaker 24: work here and.
[20:29] Speaker 13: Behind us we have a thing.
[20:31] Speaker 12: You don't talk.
[20:37] Speaker 13: If you're behind the podium conversation.
[20:45] Speaker 24: Formerly a member of the National Staff of the United
[20:48] Speaker 24: Church of Christ, where I worked here for over thirty decade,
[20:52] Speaker 24: thirty years now.
[20:55] Speaker 25: Just a couple of weeks ago, right here at Black
[20:58] Speaker 25: Lives Matter Plaza and one of our moral Monday witnesses,
[21:03] Speaker 25: a school psychologist spoke and she talked.
[21:06] Speaker 24: About a conversation she had with a ten year old student,
[21:10] Speaker 24: and he asked her, so, if we bomb a school
[21:13] Speaker 24: in Iran, does that mean they're going to bomb a
[21:17] Speaker 24: school here? And if they do, might his school be
[21:22] Speaker 24: the target because he lived near the capitol and that
[21:25] Speaker 24: would be in.
[21:26] Speaker 15: The blast zone. All is not well with our children today.
[21:32] Speaker 24: All is not well when terms like blast zone and
[21:36] Speaker 24: lockdown drills are part of children's daily reality, and when
[21:40] Speaker 24: schools and hospitals and refugee camps around the world do
[21:47] Speaker 24: in fact become blast zones. All is not well when
[21:52] Speaker 24: there are thousands of children in the wealthiest country on earth.
[21:56] Speaker 15: Who wake up in the morning not sure that they
[21:59] Speaker 15: will get enough to eat.
[22:02] Speaker 13: All is not well.
[22:03] Speaker 15: When children cannot go.
[22:05] Speaker 24: To school and focus on learning because they're worried their
[22:09] Speaker 24: parents may not come home for work.
[22:13] Speaker 26: All is not well.
[22:14] Speaker 24: When mothers and children are killed in their own homes.
[22:19] Speaker 24: It's victims of domestic violence, an epidemic that is rarely acknowledged.
[22:25] Speaker 24: Now you cannot say, well, there's just not enough money.
[22:30] Speaker 24: This is just the way things are.
[22:32] Speaker 5: This is just what we need to do to be safe.
[22:35] Speaker 24: In one breath and in another breath, propose one point five.
[22:39] Speaker 15: Trillion dollars in pentagon spending for.
[22:42] Speaker 20: The next year.
[22:44] Speaker 15: This is not just the way things are.
[22:46] Speaker 24: This is a world created by policymakers who prioritize profit
[22:52] Speaker 24: power and insatia will greed, and we can choose.
[22:56] Speaker 27: Differently, say stop the wall, stop the violence.
[23:05] Speaker 13: Now I'm gonna have to do something. I will try
[23:07] Speaker 13: not to do this.
[23:07] Speaker 12: Everybody was supposed to come with one hundred and fifty words.
[23:12] Speaker 12: We can't got to get all these speakers and preachers especially,
[23:15] Speaker 12: We're good for that.
[23:16] Speaker 13: Now I'm gonna last because I'm gonna be longer. I
[23:19] Speaker 13: designed for past.
[23:21] Speaker 12: Okay, but we need you to do a statement, a rally,
[23:26] Speaker 12: one hundred and fifty words, because you're doing violence to
[23:30] Speaker 12: the people behind you.
[23:32] Speaker 13: Because and an hour, y'all gonna be talking about we
[23:34] Speaker 13: need to move on. We gotta quit.
[23:36] Speaker 12: We want to get every voice in am I right now,
[23:39] Speaker 12: I'm doing this for Hannah, So y'all wanta be mad
[23:41] Speaker 12: with her? I don't care about being mad me, but
[23:43] Speaker 12: but we gotta do that, right, We can do that?
[23:45] Speaker 13: Can we do that? Because we gotta We gotta speak
[23:48] Speaker 13: to everybody?
[23:49] Speaker 12: All right, So turn to your daghbor, but say let's
[23:51] Speaker 12: do good to each other, all right? Come on, come
[23:55] Speaker 12: on next time, r other.
[24:08] Speaker 15: Good afternoon. My name is Claudia Allen.
[24:10] Speaker 7: I serve as the executive director of Adventist Peace Fellowship.
[24:13] Speaker 7: And we gather in a moment that scripture would recognize.
[24:17] Speaker 15: Last month, on April the eighth, the White.
[24:20] Speaker 7: House published a press release entitled Peace through Strength Operation
[24:25] Speaker 7: Epic Fury crushes Iranian thread as ceasefire takes hold. This
[24:32] Speaker 7: declaration of peace in the midst of war calls us
[24:35] Speaker 7: to the words of the prophet Jeremiah when he said,
[24:38] Speaker 7: they have heeded.
[24:39] Speaker 18: The wound of my people lightly saying peace, peace when
[24:44] Speaker 18: there is no peace.
[24:45] Speaker 15: As I stand before you today, there is no peace,
[24:48] Speaker 15: no blood.
[24:49] Speaker 7: Of These are not the children of peace. They heed
[24:52] Speaker 7: not the command of Christ to be peace makers.
[24:55] Speaker 15: These are the makers of war. The dragon says, we
[25:00] Speaker 15: you in the name of peace.
[25:02] Speaker 7: The dragon says, we will drag your children in the
[25:05] Speaker 7: name of freedom.
[25:06] Speaker 18: The dragon says we will starve gods and we will surveil.
[25:10] Speaker 7: Tran We will sanction the poor, and we will call
[25:14] Speaker 7: it Christian nationalism. The Dragon of Revelation thirteen.
[25:18] Speaker 15: Says we will spend nine.
[25:20] Speaker 7: Hundred billion dollars on weapons and tell you there's no
[25:24] Speaker 7: money for your grandmother's in selena, no money for your
[25:28] Speaker 7: child's lunch, no money for your veteran surgery.
[25:32] Speaker 15: It's the dragon that says peace, peace when there is
[25:36] Speaker 15: no piece.
[25:37] Speaker 7: The Adventist Peace Fellowship calls upon our neighbors of every faith.
[25:41] Speaker 18: And those of no faith at all, the Catholic and.
[25:44] Speaker 7: The Quaker, the Muslim and the jew the Mennonite and
[25:48] Speaker 7: the Methodist, the Baptists and the Lutheran, the Episcopalian and
[25:53] Speaker 7: the Evangelical stand against this unholy war. May the God
[25:58] Speaker 7: of Peace who is later than the men of war
[26:01] Speaker 7: make us troublesome?
[26:07] Speaker 28: Have I didn engineered from an koleil here in the Washington,
[26:10] Speaker 28: DC area. This pharaoh has inflicted tremendous damage on the
[26:15] Speaker 28: progress this country has made regarding climate change.
[26:18] Speaker 15: This past Sabbath, the Jewish.
[26:20] Speaker 28: Community has read from the Book of Leviticus, where God
[26:22] Speaker 28: instructs the people about caring for the earth. We are
[26:25] Speaker 28: called to give the earth a sabbatical every seven years.
[26:29] Speaker 13: It is a mitzvah. We are reminded that we are
[26:31] Speaker 13: stewards of the earth.
[26:32] Speaker 28: We learn about climate justice and that the health of
[26:35] Speaker 28: the land is necessary with the health and sustenance of
[26:39] Speaker 28: all humans. Trump's policies have resulted in the higher energy
[26:43] Speaker 28: prices and more climate pollution, further endangering the health of
[26:47] Speaker 28: millions of Americans and wabion. He is underdoing programs that
[26:53] Speaker 28: would protect us together. We must be strong for climate protections.
[26:57] Speaker 28: We must stand up and fight for the health and
[27:00] Speaker 28: safety of our communities. This is Leviticus's word. The word
[27:04] Speaker 28: God's word teaches us we are, after all, partners with
[27:08] Speaker 28: thought in guarding the earth and taking care of each other.
[27:12] Speaker 28: We can't wait our climate, can't wig our children can't wait.
[27:15] Speaker 28: We're already suffering from more frequent hurricanes, flooding, raging fires,
[27:20] Speaker 28: more drought. We the people must stand together to overcome
[27:24] Speaker 28: this idolatrous regime. We must convince Congress to find the
[27:28] Speaker 28: moral courage to address climate change and protect us, the people.
[27:32] Speaker 13: We choose life.
[27:34] Speaker 15: We stand here together to say no to the evil
[27:37] Speaker 15: acts of this administration.
[27:41] Speaker 29: That's right.
[27:44] Speaker 18: Denying climate change in our environment is a pop is
[27:48] Speaker 18: violence policy violence When I have Jamelia McKinnon and Lily Golden,
[28:02] Speaker 18: that's cos.
[28:12] Speaker 12: Hi.
[28:12] Speaker 15: My name is Lily Golden. I'm here as an Appalachian
[28:15] Speaker 15: State student. Growing up in North Carolina public schools. I
[28:20] Speaker 15: was taught that government is for the people.
[28:23] Speaker 30: But I have witnessed my peers, my neighbors, my friends,
[28:27] Speaker 30: and my teachers suffer at the hands of the very
[28:30] Speaker 30: same government. If the government is not for the teachers, students,
[28:36] Speaker 30: and the poor, then who is it for. I asked
[28:41] Speaker 30: my representatives Tom Tillis, Ted Budd and Virginia Fox to
[28:47] Speaker 30: ask them that very question.
[28:49] Speaker 15: Who are they representing? Is it not students, teachers, or
[28:55] Speaker 15: the poor. It doesn't have to be this way. Thank you,
[29:03] Speaker 15: good afternoon.
[29:04] Speaker 31: My name is Jamila McKinnon, and I'm from Greensboro, North Carolina,
[29:08] Speaker 31: where I studied agriculture and environmental systems at North Carolina
[29:11] Speaker 31: and Anti State University. I'm here because the Earth is
[29:15] Speaker 31: our only home. There's no backup planet. There's no replacement
[29:19] Speaker 31: the air that we breathe, the water that we drink,
[29:21] Speaker 31: or the soil that we grow our food.
[29:23] Speaker 32: That is it.
[29:24] Speaker 31: Protecting our environment is not only a political trend or
[29:28] Speaker 31: a side issue. Is directly tied to our health, our communities,
[29:32] Speaker 31: and the future generations. When we provide clean air, clean water,
[29:37] Speaker 31: and healthy ecosystems and sustainable policies, we are not only
[29:40] Speaker 31: protecting ourselves but also our future and the planets and
[29:44] Speaker 31: animals that make our life possible here on this planet.
[29:49] Speaker 31: We need political leaders who are understanding and care about
[29:53] Speaker 31: this planet and the means for caring for people. Environmental
[29:56] Speaker 31: policy is not a human policy, but it also but
[30:00] Speaker 31: if also a policy that deals with people, the planet.
[30:04] Speaker 15: Thrives, will we all thrived and vice versa. So forward together.
[30:08] Speaker 15: And I once said that a Laura Leo.
[30:18] Speaker 33: I drove over a here from Harrisburg area, Mechanicsburg, specifically
[30:22] Speaker 33: so I could tell mister President, a story. I was
[30:25] Speaker 33: not surprised to hear that my nephew enlisted in the
[30:28] Speaker 33: army last fall so that he and his wife, who
[30:32] Speaker 33: both work by the way, could have healthcare because I
[30:37] Speaker 33: had a baby on the way.
[30:39] Speaker 15: That baby arrived as Drew finished basic training, and yet another.
[30:45] Speaker 33: Seaspire stopped your Department of Defense. Mister President, continues waging
[30:51] Speaker 33: this illegal and moral multi billion dollar more as millions
[30:56] Speaker 33: of Americans endure the violence of your cuts to programs
[31:01] Speaker 33: that make food and healthcare affordable. My nephew is not
[31:07] Speaker 33: unique in weighing the hope of a reliable living wage
[31:12] Speaker 33: and benefits against the risk of combat duty, a risk
[31:18] Speaker 33: that increases every day that you are enablers in Congress
[31:23] Speaker 33: refused to vote against this unjust, unhoped war, a risk
[31:29] Speaker 33: that would be unnecessary if Congress ended the policy violence
[31:35] Speaker 33: that enriches corporations and leaves ordinary Americans vulnerable, hungry, and unheard.
[31:46] Speaker 33: We see you, mister President, and we will not look away,
[31:52] Speaker 33: and we will not be silenced.
[32:01] Speaker 13: Bring this bike up something we were not. He's silence.
[32:05] Speaker 6: He stopped the wall.
[32:07] Speaker 18: Say denying health care is violence. We're going to hear
[32:15] Speaker 18: some voices concerning health care.
[32:23] Speaker 34: I'm Reverend doctor Delawa's Bomber Mster President and members of
[32:29] Speaker 34: the Congress and Maga. I stand here today as a
[32:32] Speaker 34: pastor of Eastern North Carolina.
[32:35] Speaker 15: And this morning, when I hear.
[32:36] Speaker 34: A news report of my mother and my father who
[32:39] Speaker 34: have been separated from their son who is eighteen years old,
[32:43] Speaker 34: battling a stage four cancer, but finally getting a chance
[32:48] Speaker 34: to see them on Saturday.
[32:49] Speaker 13: But he dies on Mother's Day.
[32:54] Speaker 15: That's valance. And I know what it's like to live
[32:57] Speaker 15: with the incurable's disease loops along with one point five million.
[33:02] Speaker 34: Other Americans who need life saving medical treatment. One and
[33:08] Speaker 34: four lupus patients still received health care through Medicaid and Medicare.
[33:14] Speaker 34: And I've had three siblings who needed dialysis due to
[33:18] Speaker 34: lupis New Fridays and not having access to health care
[33:22] Speaker 34: is violence.
[33:25] Speaker 15: My father who lost his health care that was tied
[33:28] Speaker 15: to his job and not get humanity when he retired.
[33:31] Speaker 34: He died at an early age of forty six years.
[33:36] Speaker 35: Oh, violence, violence, violence, And what is worse.
[33:50] Speaker 27: What's worse is that you the Congress, mister Trump.
[33:57] Speaker 7: You have taken health care from those who have had
[34:02] Speaker 7: it and yet you choose to use those monies to
[34:06] Speaker 7: fund tax cuts.
[34:08] Speaker 15: And an unholy war.
[34:10] Speaker 34: This is pure violence, and we will stand against it.
[34:19] Speaker 13: Some everybody say we we'll stand against it. Sure violence.
[34:27] Speaker 12: All right, musicians, are you all over there?
[34:39] Speaker 13: Are you over there? Bell there go? I see it.
[34:42] Speaker 13: We're gonna call up y'all in it. Just a second
[34:45] Speaker 13: and just a second, all.
[34:46] Speaker 17: Right, thank you.
[34:47] Speaker 13: Cheon.
[34:50] Speaker 18: Denying voting rights and living wages and denying freedom from
[34:54] Speaker 18: poverty is violence.
[34:56] Speaker 15: The next voice is you'll hear will be dealing with
[34:58] Speaker 15: those viole situations.
[35:06] Speaker 13: Come on up and bring it up. Come on, come on,
[35:13] Speaker 13: good afternoon.
[35:15] Speaker 36: I'm the Reverend Avijana Munchi and I serve Cedar Lane
[35:18] Speaker 36: Unitarian Universalist Congregation in the Testa, Maryland. There's a truth
[35:25] Speaker 36: older than any government, any party, any law. Every person
[35:30] Speaker 36: has inherent dignity, not some people, every person. It is
[35:36] Speaker 36: the ground on which every great religious and moral tradition stands,
[35:41] Speaker 36: every one of them, no exceptions.
[35:46] Speaker 13: And yet here we are. We are made for each other.
[35:51] Speaker 15: We belong to each other.
[35:53] Speaker 13: What diminishes one of us diminishes all of us.
[35:57] Speaker 37: And when we strip healthcare from hands, people criminalize.
[36:02] Speaker 38: Women's bodies, gerrymander districts to silence black and brown votes.
[36:07] Speaker 15: We are not making policy.
[36:10] Speaker 13: We are deciding who belongs to the human family.
[36:15] Speaker 38: Violence and people of faith cannot be silent when that
[36:20] Speaker 38: question is being answered wrong. Gender, justice and democracy are
[36:25] Speaker 38: not separate fights.
[36:27] Speaker 13: They never were. Both rest on the same conviction.
[36:31] Speaker 37: Every person counts, every person belongs. Every person deserves to
[36:37] Speaker 37: live freely and without fear. That is what our traditions
[36:43] Speaker 37: have always called us toward the beloved community, not the
[36:48] Speaker 37: community of the privileged, view, not the community of the
[36:52] Speaker 37: politically convenient.
[36:54] Speaker 15: The beloved community has no.
[36:56] Speaker 38: Exceptions and leaves no one outside the circle of care.
[37:02] Speaker 15: We are here because.
[37:04] Speaker 39: Love will not let us go, let us down, or
[37:08] Speaker 39: let us off the hook. Ford together, somebody said, love
[37:16] Speaker 39: will not let us.
[37:18] Speaker 13: Except by.
[37:22] Speaker 15: The Lord is my light and salvation.
[37:24] Speaker 10: Whom shall I fear?
[37:27] Speaker 40: The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom
[37:30] Speaker 40: shall I be afraid?
[37:32] Speaker 13: Good Evening.
[37:33] Speaker 41: My name is Reverend Amanda Hunler Boss, and I serve
[37:35] Speaker 41: as the senior Minister at First Congregational United Church of Christ,
[37:40] Speaker 41: a justice seeking church in the heart of our nation's capital,
[37:44] Speaker 41: founded by abolitionists in the Lincoln administration.
[37:49] Speaker 40: This war of choice has deeply offended people of faith.
[37:56] Speaker 15: It has offended the conscience of people of faith.
[38:01] Speaker 40: It's not just the egregious costs, but its toxic theology.
[38:07] Speaker 40: Military personnel have been instructed by commanders that the war
[38:12] Speaker 40: is part of God's plan.
[38:15] Speaker 15: To usher in armageddon.
[38:18] Speaker 40: This administration gleefully calls for.
[38:23] Speaker 18: Death and destruction to rain down from the skies, but.
[38:28] Speaker 15: The Bible says, seek peace and pursue it.
[38:33] Speaker 40: This administration quotes fake verses about great vengeance and furious anger,
[38:40] Speaker 40: but the Bible says, beat your shords into plowshares. This
[38:46] Speaker 40: administration says no mercy for the enemy, no harbor for
[38:53] Speaker 40: prisoners of war, but Jesus said, those who live by
[38:57] Speaker 40: the sword.
[38:58] Speaker 15: Shall die by the sword. Make no mistake, this.
[39:04] Speaker 5: Is no holy war.
[39:06] Speaker 40: It is a fool's errand enacted by Christian nationalists who
[39:10] Speaker 40: cozy up to white supremacy, gag the gifts of women,
[39:15] Speaker 40: and erect idolatrous golden.
[39:18] Speaker 15: Statues of this president.
[39:20] Speaker 13: That's it. That's it.
[39:23] Speaker 1: Today, we say clearly.
[39:24] Speaker 15: This is not the faith of Jesus Christ.
[39:28] Speaker 40: Justice is surely coming, and we will hold this administration
[39:32] Speaker 40: accountable for all of its unholy bloodshed.
[39:37] Speaker 8: God will not be mocked.
[39:39] Speaker 13: That's it. That's it. Somebody does say that, but before
[39:43] Speaker 13: she comes, before she comes, say God will not be mocked.
[39:50] Speaker 12: Now, I we have force speakers coming in a road
[39:53] Speaker 12: to talk about particular areas again of violence. Do you
[39:58] Speaker 12: want to see what we're trying to do for the
[39:59] Speaker 12: nation with thousands and thousand people listening in If we
[40:03] Speaker 12: cannot just talk about the war as violence, but this
[40:08] Speaker 12: violent moment that we're in that we must challenge.
[40:12] Speaker 13: Come on, my dearsistant.
[40:15] Speaker 33: Sure, my name is Renee More and I'm an impacted individual.
[40:20] Speaker 42: Yes, violence is residents in need of basic services, food, housing,
[40:26] Speaker 42: and Medica care. And the most powerful country in the
[40:29] Speaker 42: world while our congressional leaders spend billions on war and
[40:34] Speaker 42: allow its citizens to go without violences, citizens having to
[40:39] Speaker 42: go from agency.
[40:40] Speaker 24: To agency searching for assistance and should not entail a
[40:45] Speaker 24: fifty four page document.
[40:47] Speaker 15: You're standing outside of government facility in.
[40:50] Speaker 43: Southeast in the cold, waiting for what is an unattendance power.
[41:00] Speaker 15: Point slide presidentation. Nobody in the room, seniors in the cold.
[41:07] Speaker 42: Violences, property management companies first and tenants already undistressed to
[41:13] Speaker 42: pay sewer, trash and processing fees.
[41:17] Speaker 15: These fees should be.
[41:18] Speaker 43: Borne by the billion dollar property managers who received guarantee
[41:23] Speaker 43: rent for the privilege of doing business in the nation's capital.
[41:28] Speaker 15: This kind of violence, every word, we want to hear you,
[41:45] Speaker 15: We want to hear you. Should I repeat it.
[41:49] Speaker 43: Violences property management companies forcing tenants already understressed to pay sewer, water,
[41:58] Speaker 43: and processing fees.
[42:00] Speaker 34: These fees should be borne by the billion dollar property
[42:04] Speaker 34: management companies who receive guaranteed.
[42:08] Speaker 43: Rent for the privilege of doing business in the nation's capital.
[42:13] Speaker 15: This kind of violence is unnecessary.
[42:17] Speaker 27: And against God.
[42:18] Speaker 15: And God will have the last word.
[42:21] Speaker 12: That's right, that's right, say God, and that which is greater,
[42:27] Speaker 12: we'll have the last word.
[42:29] Speaker 13: Oh shit. We want all of the last ninth weekers
[42:33] Speaker 13: to go meet with the sister Hannah.
[42:34] Speaker 12: We're trying to do something that step right here on
[42:36] Speaker 12: the side on the left, meet with hand and call
[42:38] Speaker 12: all of them. Anybody who has not spoken, then step
[42:41] Speaker 12: with her, and we're gonna have the musicians. Come on,
[42:44] Speaker 12: musicians and lift us up with a song right now
[42:47] Speaker 12: in the midst of the street. Amen, while we take
[42:49] Speaker 12: a minute with Sister Handle amen, everybody.
[42:55] Speaker 13: Knot don't leven hand up for a second. She wants
[42:58] Speaker 13: to give us a clayifinals.
[43:35] Speaker 1: So that's so, so.
[44:29] Speaker 13: We listen. Bring it down just a little bit, y'all.
[44:47] Speaker 12: Bring it down a little bit. Bring it down a
[44:50] Speaker 12: little bit. You listen to everybody, listen to everybody. Put
[44:55] Speaker 12: your flackers. Now, we're trying to have we kept this.
[44:58] Speaker 12: Violence is serious, and we sing.
[45:00] Speaker 13: We don't break. Singing is a part of challenging violence.
[45:05] Speaker 13: So everybody will put their placas down that are in
[45:07] Speaker 13: with us, and.
[45:08] Speaker 12: Let's join The song says somebody is hurting my brother,
[45:11] Speaker 12: my sister, and it's gone.
[45:13] Speaker 1: On far too long.
[45:14] Speaker 13: So you can put them down the street for just
[45:16] Speaker 13: a second and we can all join in. Bring that
[45:20] Speaker 13: music up. I want the sound to speakers. Bring it
[45:23] Speaker 13: up nice and loud.
[45:24] Speaker 12: Everybody's got a placa. Just put it down for a
[45:26] Speaker 12: second and stop putting your hands together. Come on, teach us, y'all,
[45:30] Speaker 12: come on, come on. Yeah, this is a part of
[45:33] Speaker 12: challenging mic. Bring us, sing us, make us up, bring
[45:37] Speaker 12: them mic some.
[45:46] Speaker 6: School school.
[46:03] Speaker 14: Side hand wall. Somebody wants to keep us in the war,
[46:12] Speaker 14: and it snor.
[46:16] Speaker 19: Stolen on. Now you was storing.
[46:23] Speaker 14: Somebody wants to keep your.
[46:25] Speaker 13: Saying, y'all had it storn.
[46:32] Speaker 15: It outside?
[46:34] Speaker 13: Man yet, Clepp, that's fund man. I don't know if
[46:39] Speaker 13: you haven't worked with us before, but you gotta work
[46:41] Speaker 13: with us. Keep these mics on up here and that
[46:44] Speaker 13: styll giving feedback, and we got a.
[46:47] Speaker 15: Crowd on you.
[46:48] Speaker 13: We're trying to talk to folk and what you'll have
[46:51] Speaker 13: around time. One of the reason we wanted to fire
[47:02] Speaker 13: in the street and the mics racing that way. But
[47:05] Speaker 13: if this is power the feedback yard, you're going to
[47:07] Speaker 13: take it one line. Then we're going back to the speakers.
[47:11] Speaker 13: We're going back. Turned that mics up if you need
[47:13] Speaker 13: to turn mine down and then turn back up quick.
[47:15] Speaker 15: Okay, all right, let's go put your hands together everything
[47:21] Speaker 15: and let me.
[47:21] Speaker 1: Show you from the streets.
[47:36] Speaker 44: If we've been shut still a little too quiet, you know,
[47:40] Speaker 44: it's gold on.
[47:44] Speaker 13: Gold on.
[47:46] Speaker 6: What was come?
[47:51] Speaker 27: If we been shutter little too wyant and school.
[48:01] Speaker 19: Side be side silent side, Yeah.
[48:36] Speaker 15: We won't be silent.
[48:39] Speaker 13: We won't be silent anymore. That's right. Bring this mic
[48:43] Speaker 13: back up. Somebody say, mike and sound makes a.
[48:48] Speaker 12: Congregation, no matter how many people you got it they
[48:52] Speaker 12: can hear even if they can't see. Am I right
[48:54] Speaker 12: about it? We want these other speakers to come. We've
[48:57] Speaker 12: got nine speakers to come, and then we're gonna try
[49:01] Speaker 12: to put this together.
[49:02] Speaker 13: How many of you didn't.
[49:03] Speaker 12: Come out here for fair and for former, for serious business,
[49:08] Speaker 12: serious business, say serious business. This is serious business. All
[49:13] Speaker 12: right behind us is the home of an authoritarian. This
[49:17] Speaker 12: is serious business. Come on, other speakers. We ask everybody
[49:21] Speaker 12: now to listen up.
[49:22] Speaker 13: If you would, it was the result. This is my
[49:36] Speaker 13: friend and maybor.
[49:38] Speaker 12: I'm another funny y'all might get mad with me, but
[49:40] Speaker 12: I'm gonna love you in the high fuse if y'all real.
[49:42] Speaker 12: But everybody that's with us that's still talking behind, can
[49:45] Speaker 12: y'all stop and focus on the mic? I know we fellowship,
[49:49] Speaker 12: but y'all we dealing with some serious stuff here. This
[49:53] Speaker 12: ain't about no fellowship just coming together. This is serious stuff, amen,
[50:00] Speaker 12: and this is a serious brother and union and we
[50:02] Speaker 12: thank God for you.
[50:03] Speaker 5: Man.
[50:04] Speaker 13: Come on.
[50:12] Speaker 11: My name is Sam Epps, President of the Metropolitan Washington
[50:16] Speaker 11: Council AFLCIO, representing one hundred and fifty thousand union members
[50:22] Speaker 11: here in a DC's metropolitan region. We are here today
[50:27] Speaker 11: because we know something in our bones. Poverty is not
[50:32] Speaker 11: an accident, It's a policy choice. When we talk about
[50:37] Speaker 11: policy violences against workers, we are talking about what happens
[50:42] Speaker 11: when a worker breaks their back for forty years and
[50:47] Speaker 11: still cannot retire with dignity. We are talking about what
[50:51] Speaker 11: happens when a parent who works two jobs and still
[50:56] Speaker 11: cannot afford insolent for their children. Talking about what happens
[51:01] Speaker 11: when the people who grow our food, build our roads,
[51:05] Speaker 11: and care for our elderly are told they are not
[51:09] Speaker 11: worth a living wage.
[51:12] Speaker 27: That is violence to workers.
[51:15] Speaker 11: And labor unions were born for days like this, when
[51:20] Speaker 11: working people looked at an unjust system and said, not
[51:24] Speaker 11: on my watch, And today we say it again, not
[51:30] Speaker 11: on our watch. We say no to an economy that
[51:35] Speaker 11: hoards wealth at the top while workers bage for scraps.
[51:40] Speaker 45: We say no to union busting. We say no to
[51:46] Speaker 45: wage death and the line that should should that you
[51:51] Speaker 45: should be grateful to just have a job. We say
[51:54] Speaker 45: no to our rights right to vote being takeaway.
[52:00] Speaker 11: We say yes to an economy built from the bottom
[52:03] Speaker 11: up and the middle out, where work is rewarded and
[52:08] Speaker 11: dignity is guaranteed, and know zip code determines whether your
[52:13] Speaker 11: children will thrive. Doctor Barbara reminds us that there is
[52:19] Speaker 11: a moral budget. It's not about deficits, It's about values.
[52:24] Speaker 11: And values say that person that make the least deserve
[52:30] Speaker 11: the most protection from all of us. So we say
[52:33] Speaker 11: no to workers violence, solidarity forever.
[52:44] Speaker 13: My name is the Reverend Adam Russell Taylor. I serve
[52:46] Speaker 13: as the president of Sojournurse.
[52:50] Speaker 27: I want to be crystal clear denying voter.
[52:53] Speaker 15: Rights is violence.
[52:57] Speaker 17: As our nation comes quickly to its two hundred and
[53:02] Speaker 17: fiftieth birthday, our democracy is caught in the crucible of
[53:08] Speaker 17: what feels like a prolonged Good Friday. Last week's Calais
[53:13] Speaker 17: decision by the Supreme course conservative majority in effect gutted
[53:18] Speaker 17: the Voting Rights Act. This decision is not only legal malpractice, it.
[53:25] Speaker 27: Is morally bankrupt.
[53:28] Speaker 13: It has already opened up the floodgates and states.
[53:31] Speaker 15: Like Louisiana and Tennessee, who.
[53:33] Speaker 5: Have already racially jerry mandered away black.
[53:37] Speaker 17: Representation with new maps that will derail a multi racial democracy.
[53:45] Speaker 17: This president, this White House is actively trying to ban
[53:50] Speaker 17: vote by mail and has threatened to unconstitutionally nationalize our elections.
[53:55] Speaker 13: And abuse law enforcement at the polls.
[53:58] Speaker 17: The administration has doubled down the lie of widespread broter fraud,
[54:02] Speaker 17: which is being used as a pretense to pass the
[54:05] Speaker 17: Save Act and to undermine the integrity of our midterm elections.
[54:11] Speaker 13: That is a bad news, that voter suppression and.
[54:14] Speaker 15: Elections of version are real and present danger.
[54:18] Speaker 13: But there is some good news, y'all.
[54:20] Speaker 17: In the Christian tradition, we are still in the liturgical
[54:23] Speaker 17: season of Easter, a season of redemption and a season
[54:27] Speaker 17: of renewal. And so we are crystal clear that we
[54:31] Speaker 17: must and can redeem our democracy and make the promise.
[54:36] Speaker 20: A liberty and justice for all real.
[54:40] Speaker 9: For all.
[54:52] Speaker 12: My brothers, assist us, and one of those that are behind,
[54:57] Speaker 12: if you want to, you can move into the sides
[54:59] Speaker 12: and move in front, except for those holding the signs
[55:02] Speaker 12: along the podium. I want you all to give Hannah
[55:06] Speaker 12: a great big hand because she operated on favor.
[55:12] Speaker 13: She said, Rep. Barbie, if we got an hour and
[55:14] Speaker 13: we got.
[55:14] Speaker 12: Nineteen speakers and they all take two minutes, we all
[55:17] Speaker 12: to be able to get things up by six o'clock.
[55:20] Speaker 12: Well yeah, well, some folkin, Because we got people with disabilities,
[55:29] Speaker 12: we got to march we got to make to the
[55:31] Speaker 12: White House and to the place where some people are
[55:33] Speaker 12: willing to put their bodies on the line today, and
[55:38] Speaker 12: we want to respect that.
[55:40] Speaker 13: So there are other persons that may have to speak.
[55:43] Speaker 12: We're asking you to walk with us and walk down there,
[55:46] Speaker 12: because you know, brother, since I've been out here a
[55:49] Speaker 12: long time, sixty one years old, sixty two almost sixty three,
[55:55] Speaker 12: despite the pain, this is no time for showhor.
[56:02] Speaker 13: This is serious, and I want us to be one
[56:06] Speaker 13: for a moment.
[56:07] Speaker 12: In fact, no matter is you can put your placers
[56:09] Speaker 12: down and just grab somebody by the hand and tell
[56:12] Speaker 12: them we got to be.
[56:13] Speaker 5: One in this moment.
[56:14] Speaker 13: I want the nation to see us, see you all together.
[56:22] Speaker 5: You know.
[56:22] Speaker 12: Sometimes I was one time I was up speaking and
[56:26] Speaker 12: I asked folk in the back of they would be quiet,
[56:28] Speaker 12: and you know, I can hear everything.
[56:29] Speaker 13: And somebody said, why don't he shut up?
[56:31] Speaker 12: And I said, and that's why we have some of
[56:33] Speaker 12: the problems we had, because if we can't respect each other,
[56:42] Speaker 12: if we can't listen, there is no joy about being
[56:48] Speaker 12: out here today except the joy for maybe. As the
[56:53] Speaker 12: guy said one time when he went out in front
[56:56] Speaker 12: of the White House and held up a sign every
[56:58] Speaker 12: day and somebody said, do you think it will change them?
[57:01] Speaker 12: He said, no, but it will change me. It will
[57:05] Speaker 12: keep me from ever giving in my brother and sister.
[57:12] Speaker 12: I want to try to say something to the nation,
[57:16] Speaker 12: and hopefully clergy and others will take this up as
[57:20] Speaker 12: a part of their moral messages.
[57:22] Speaker 13: And let's find the Lucia hands.
[57:24] Speaker 12: You know, we're in a democratic society and the structures
[57:28] Speaker 12: of our common life are built for disagreement. But what
[57:35] Speaker 12: we're seeing now is not normal. It's not just disagreement.
[57:41] Speaker 12: Here in our nation's capital. There are supposed to be
[57:43] Speaker 12: a White House, and a Supreme Court and a Congress.
[57:48] Speaker 13: It's present hear us Trump, hears Maga and others.
[57:51] Speaker 12: We have a system that tries to balance those powers
[57:55] Speaker 12: because we know that they will not always agree. Inside
[58:00] Speaker 12: those chambers where our laws are supposed to be debated,
[58:03] Speaker 12: there are sometimes two sides, and maybe more.
[58:07] Speaker 13: But members are elected to represent us.
[58:10] Speaker 12: They may run as Democratic Republicans, but once they get elected,
[58:15] Speaker 12: they swam. They swear, regardless of their partisan title, that
[58:21] Speaker 12: they will be about the business of establishing justice, provided
[58:26] Speaker 12: for the common defense, promoting the general welfare, ensuring domestic tranquility,
[58:33] Speaker 12: equal protection under the law.
[58:35] Speaker 13: They swear to these things, and we.
[58:38] Speaker 12: Are airs of movements that have worked to change public opinion.
[58:43] Speaker 12: We're not the first ones to take these streets, nor
[58:45] Speaker 12: will we be the lions.
[58:47] Speaker 13: We're not the first one.
[58:49] Speaker 12: Whether it's two hundred and fifty thousand people on the
[58:52] Speaker 12: march on Washington, which is many million that still were
[58:54] Speaker 12: not there, or it was eight hundred people in the
[58:57] Speaker 12: nineteen thirties that came here in the argument for their
[59:01] Speaker 12: unemployment money, the money they were owned, the bonus marchers.
[59:06] Speaker 15: But over and over.
[59:07] Speaker 12: Again people have come to this place to change public policy.
[59:15] Speaker 12: And this is hard work. Democracy is hard. If your
[59:19] Speaker 12: neighbors say, democracy is hard. But here's the question before
[59:25] Speaker 12: this generation, what do you do when the democracy has
[59:31] Speaker 12: been hijacked?
[59:35] Speaker 13: You know, a plane can go through turbulence and make it.
[59:40] Speaker 12: A plane can change the time it's going to land,
[59:43] Speaker 12: or it can get delayed and make it. A plane
[59:47] Speaker 12: can even switch pilots from the pilot to the co
[59:50] Speaker 12: pilot of the first officer. But when the plane is hijacked,
[59:57] Speaker 12: this is the question we face. This is why we
[1:00:01] Speaker 12: got to get real serious this democracy or our effort
[1:00:08] Speaker 12: to be a democracy has been hijacked.
[1:00:12] Speaker 13: And it's not just because of one person or one election.
[1:00:19] Speaker 12: There is a kind of socio schizophrenia that is all in,
[1:00:25] Speaker 12: that exists in the in the in the ethos of America,
[1:00:30] Speaker 12: and that social scriptsophrenia Hannah is always seeking to take
[1:00:35] Speaker 12: over and direct our common life to something different than
[1:00:39] Speaker 12: was what was written. The socio schizophrenia is this doctor
[1:00:43] Speaker 12: King said like this, we have a high blood pressure
[1:00:46] Speaker 12: of creeds and then theminia anemia of these you hear me, Della,
[1:00:52] Speaker 12: this is this is the contradiction. And look at her
[1:00:56] Speaker 12: nighbor and said, and the contradiction has been with us.
[1:01:00] Speaker 12: The problem with what we see now when folks say
[1:01:04] Speaker 12: it's not America, yes it is. It's not all of America.
[1:01:09] Speaker 12: It's not the only part of America. But this kind
[1:01:12] Speaker 12: of schizophrenia has been with us since the nation was born.
[1:01:16] Speaker 12: And the nation some to say to women.
[1:01:19] Speaker 13: You don't have a rough voice, to poor white men,
[1:01:22] Speaker 13: you don't have a voice, and to black folk you're
[1:01:24] Speaker 13: three fifths of a person.
[1:01:28] Speaker 12: But every so often it goes real crazy. That's what
[1:01:32] Speaker 12: we're every so often in this thing called America. It
[1:01:37] Speaker 12: gets pronounced as schizophrenia, and.
[1:01:40] Speaker 13: We're in a moment like that.
[1:01:42] Speaker 12: The man who occupies our White House and the members
[1:01:45] Speaker 12: of Congress who treat him like a.
[1:01:47] Speaker 13: Demi god.
[1:01:52] Speaker 12: Are manga extremists, and our government is captive to manga madness.
[1:02:00] Speaker 12: Our democracy is being subverted in plane sight, and we
[1:02:06] Speaker 12: faced the constitutional crisis as the executive branch continues to
[1:02:11] Speaker 12: run through god rails while it tells us we don't.
[1:02:15] Speaker 13: Understand what America really is about.
[1:02:17] Speaker 12: You see, we actually have a hijacking that doesn't believe
[1:02:22] Speaker 12: that America started out broken and has been trying to
[1:02:26] Speaker 12: get better.
[1:02:27] Speaker 13: It believes America was right in.
[1:02:29] Speaker 12: Its beginning when only wealthy white men were in control,
[1:02:33] Speaker 12: and every effort since then has been a reversal. We
[1:02:42] Speaker 12: just celebrated Mother's Day and I was thinking about Julia Ward.
[1:02:47] Speaker 13: How are the abolitionists?
[1:02:48] Speaker 12: You know, she was an abolitionist from Boston who rode
[1:02:51] Speaker 12: the train down here to DC during the.
[1:02:53] Speaker 13: Civil War, and she reviewed the troops who had gathered
[1:02:56] Speaker 13: the fight, and she was the one who came up with.
[1:03:00] Speaker 12: Idea of Mother's Day when she saw all of the
[1:03:02] Speaker 12: cornage and the death. The Mother's Day originally was about
[1:03:06] Speaker 12: ending war, now. She also wrote the song mine eyes
[1:03:11] Speaker 12: have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.
[1:03:13] Speaker 13: He is trampling out his ventures, where the grapes of
[1:03:15] Speaker 13: wrath as store.
[1:03:16] Speaker 12: He has loosed his fate for lightning of the terribles
[1:03:19] Speaker 12: with store. His truth is marching on. And doctor King
[1:03:22] Speaker 12: used him at the end of his speech at the
[1:03:26] Speaker 12: end of the Selmer to Montgomery March. But Howell knew something.
[1:03:33] Speaker 12: She was horrified by the destruction of a civil war,
[1:03:37] Speaker 12: even when the cause is just.
[1:03:40] Speaker 13: She knew that a tyrant could come along.
[1:03:47] Speaker 12: And sing that same battle him to make people feel
[1:03:51] Speaker 12: righteous about unnecessary war. She knew that that same song
[1:03:57] Speaker 12: could be miss you, And that's why she wrote something else.
[1:04:02] Speaker 12: At the original Mother's Day, she wrote a cry, and
[1:04:06] Speaker 12: this is what she said. Arise, women of the day,
[1:04:11] Speaker 12: Arise all the women who have hearts, whether our baptism
[1:04:15] Speaker 12: be that of water or tears, say firmly, we will
[1:04:18] Speaker 12: not have great questions decided by irrevelent agencies. Our husbands
[1:04:23] Speaker 12: shall not come to us Reeking with the connage for
[1:04:28] Speaker 12: caucasses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from
[1:04:32] Speaker 12: us to unlearn all that we've been able to teach
[1:04:34] Speaker 12: them about charity and mercy and patient Arise, women, arise
[1:04:41] Speaker 12: and declare, disarm this arm, this arm, because murder is
[1:04:49] Speaker 12: not the balance of justice, and blood does not wipe
[1:04:54] Speaker 12: out dishonor nor violence. Vindicate possession and give you this money.
[1:05:01] Speaker 12: She wrote that on Mother's Day, and here we are
[1:05:05] Speaker 12: today after Mother's Day. Once again we have to cry disarmed.
[1:05:11] Speaker 12: And so the truth of the matter is that Maga
[1:05:14] Speaker 12: can wave the flag and play the battle.
[1:05:17] Speaker 13: Of him all they want to. We know who we are,
[1:05:21] Speaker 13: And the truth is when a nation is going.
[1:05:24] Speaker 12: Through schizophrenia, somebody has to know who you are. We
[1:05:28] Speaker 12: can't be schizophrenia. I'm schizophrenic along with the nation. Such
[1:05:34] Speaker 12: your name and say we know who we are.
[1:05:37] Speaker 29: And we are here to declare that this war is me,
[1:05:42] Speaker 29: this war is angry, this war is greeted, this war
[1:05:47] Speaker 29: is anti America.
[1:05:50] Speaker 12: We are here to say that this authoritarian hijet and
[1:05:55] Speaker 12: captivity isn't about one person. It's about the madness that
[1:06:01] Speaker 12: Manga has rowed. So we today change the meaning of maga.
[1:06:07] Speaker 12: Manga doesn't mean make America great again. Marga actually has
[1:06:12] Speaker 12: come to mean mean angry, greeting and anti American. We
[1:06:21] Speaker 12: say no to choosing unhardly worldwide. Because as long doctor Jackson,
[1:06:26] Speaker 12: as the Constitution says in Article one, section eight, that
[1:06:30] Speaker 12: the Congress has the authority to declare war, to grant
[1:06:35] Speaker 12: letters of mark and reprais oland make rules concerning capturing
[1:06:39] Speaker 12: on lands and water. As long as that's in the Constitution,
[1:06:43] Speaker 12: this war is illegal. As long as the Bible says,
[1:06:50] Speaker 12: blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the
[1:06:53] Speaker 12: sons of God, this war is immoral.
[1:07:00] Speaker 13: It is immoral, but not only to war. We have
[1:07:03] Speaker 13: to say no to all politive idans, all politive idance,
[1:07:10] Speaker 13: every bit of it.
[1:07:12] Speaker 12: Denying voting rights is also a form of policle. As
[1:07:16] Speaker 12: long as the Constitution says that no one in the
[1:07:23] Speaker 12: United States can deny or abridge.
[1:07:28] Speaker 13: The right to vote on the account of race.
[1:07:33] Speaker 12: Color, or previous condition of servitude, then the ruling of
[1:07:39] Speaker 12: the Supreme Court a few weeks ago is unconstitutional and antimerica,
[1:07:46] Speaker 12: and it's war and its violence as long as the
[1:07:50] Speaker 12: Bible says that every person created in the image of
[1:07:54] Speaker 12: God is given a voice and a vote. And it's
[1:07:58] Speaker 12: a part of my human indignity to turn your neighbor
[1:08:01] Speaker 12: and say, nobody gave me the.
[1:08:03] Speaker 13: Right to vote. It came with being born. God gives
[1:08:11] Speaker 13: us the right to choose.
[1:08:16] Speaker 12: And as long as that's true, that any attack my Chile,
[1:08:20] Speaker 12: any attack on the voting rights is a denial of
[1:08:24] Speaker 12: your humanity. When somebody attacks your voting rights from a
[1:08:30] Speaker 12: Christian perspective or judaeo Christian perspective, what they're saying is
[1:08:34] Speaker 12: you're not a human, you're not invading the image of God,
[1:08:40] Speaker 12: and I have a right to take it.
[1:08:44] Speaker 13: That you know that we really have only been.
[1:08:48] Speaker 12: A democracy where black people have been able to elect
[1:08:52] Speaker 12: black people to Congress for forty years.
[1:08:56] Speaker 13: Out of the two hundred and fifty years of.
[1:08:58] Speaker 12: The history of this country, we've only been and pressing
[1:09:00] Speaker 12: our way towards a full democracy for about forty years.
[1:09:06] Speaker 13: For about forty years. And we did a study with
[1:09:09] Speaker 13: the Institute of Policies studied it.
[1:09:12] Speaker 12: And what they said was when they looked at the
[1:09:15] Speaker 12: diversity that the voting rights producers that if it was
[1:09:19] Speaker 12: not for the Voting Rights Act, we would have never
[1:09:23] Speaker 12: had the votes for the Affordable Care Act.
[1:09:27] Speaker 13: It was not for the Voting Rights Act, we have
[1:09:30] Speaker 13: never had.
[1:09:31] Speaker 12: The votes to deal with COVID to give people relief
[1:09:34] Speaker 12: during COVID because it was the members of the Congressional
[1:09:38] Speaker 12: Black Caucasts that have been elected only because of the
[1:09:42] Speaker 12: provisions of the Voting Rights Act that gave the Democrats
[1:09:46] Speaker 12: the majority that they needed. That's why attack on voting
[1:09:51] Speaker 12: rights is just an attack on black people. It's an
[1:09:55] Speaker 12: attack on democracies. See, because the same people that attack
[1:10:00] Speaker 12: voting rights, they want power so that.
[1:10:04] Speaker 13: They can attact healthcare, so that they can attack.
[1:10:07] Speaker 12: Living wages, so they can attack public education. And that's
[1:10:11] Speaker 12: why we have to say no to unholy war, and
[1:10:15] Speaker 12: we have to say no to the battle of voter suppression.
[1:10:18] Speaker 12: We have to say no to all policivilings. Come on
[1:10:22] Speaker 12: and say this with me, say denying living wages. And
[1:10:26] Speaker 12: we have to say no to the bottle of voter suppression.
[1:10:30] Speaker 12: We have to say no to all policivilings. Come on
[1:10:34] Speaker 12: and say this with me, say denying living wages. It's violence.
[1:10:40] Speaker 12: Denying health care is violence.
[1:10:45] Speaker 4: Denying all Right, folks, we're here on Black Lives Matter
[1:10:49] Speaker 4: Plaza where Recobis, William Bothering repairs of the breach are
[1:10:52] Speaker 4: holding their moral mondays here at the intersection of sixteenth
[1:10:58] Speaker 4: and age right ran front lefting at park Well, that's
[1:11:02] Speaker 4: in front of the White House. Joining us right now
[1:11:04] Speaker 4: is Connas and Clio Fields of Louisiana. And of course
[1:11:08] Speaker 4: we have seen the battles that have taken place in
[1:11:11] Speaker 4: the last week. We can have as a result of
[1:11:14] Speaker 4: Supreme Court decision to Franklin has upended of black representation
[1:11:19] Speaker 4: in the South. Conston Clill Fields, glad to have you here.
[1:11:23] Speaker 4: Last night, Governor Jeff Lander of Louisiana, that Maga Republican,
[1:11:27] Speaker 4: was on sixty minutes and he pretty much said, Hey,
[1:11:30] Speaker 4: the people have already voted in the election. We're just
[1:11:32] Speaker 4: going to discard those votes. He said, Hey, don't blame
[1:11:34] Speaker 4: it on me. What we are seeing in Alabama, same thing,
[1:11:38] Speaker 4: discarding of votes. Just give people a sense of what
[1:11:42] Speaker 4: it has been like dealing with these Republicans in Louisiana
[1:11:47] Speaker 4: since Supreme Court allowed for them to gut so much
[1:11:51] Speaker 4: black political power all across the South, especially in your steps.
[1:11:55] Speaker 13: Say one thing.
[1:11:56] Speaker 46: Well, first of all, Rowland, let me thank you for
[1:11:59] Speaker 46: making this an issue all across the country because it is.
[1:12:05] Speaker 46: You know, what I have to say about the governor
[1:12:07] Speaker 46: is just absolutely crazy for a person to say that
[1:12:11] Speaker 46: a person's vote is going to be discarded and it
[1:12:14] Speaker 46: doesn't count. You know, the Supreme Court rule that the
[1:12:17] Speaker 46: sixth Congressional District was a racial geremander.
[1:12:20] Speaker 32: But what they did not rule.
[1:12:22] Speaker 46: They did not say that Louisiana should halt its election.
[1:12:26] Speaker 46: People had qualified, people had already voted. The Secretary of
[1:12:29] Speaker 46: State had sent out over one hundred thousand ballots, and
[1:12:32] Speaker 46: of that one hundred thousand ballots, about forty two thousand
[1:12:36] Speaker 46: people had already returned those ballots. These are elderly people,
[1:12:39] Speaker 46: These are people who live overseas in the military. It
[1:12:44] Speaker 46: is just absolutely unconscionable, to say the least, to have
[1:12:48] Speaker 46: a governor of any state to say that, you know,
[1:12:50] Speaker 46: so what, you just got to go back to the
[1:12:52] Speaker 46: polls and vote again.
[1:12:54] Speaker 32: You know that people died for this precious right.
[1:12:58] Speaker 46: You know, I'm just listening to Reverend speak just you know,
[1:13:01] Speaker 46: while I was sitting here waiting on the show. You know,
[1:13:04] Speaker 46: I mean, he's absolutely right. You know, this is the
[1:13:07] Speaker 46: new reconstruction, you know, I mean, this is about the
[1:13:11] Speaker 46: power in the Congress, and next is going to be
[1:13:15] Speaker 46: about the power in the legislatures across the country. You know,
[1:13:19] Speaker 46: states like Louisiana, we've always depended on the Voting Rights Act.
[1:13:24] Speaker 46: We depended on Section five and then they gutted it
[1:13:27] Speaker 46: in twenty thirteen, and then from then from there we
[1:13:31] Speaker 46: depended on section subsection two of the Voting Rights Act.
[1:13:35] Speaker 46: They gutted it last week. You know, I mean it's now.
[1:13:40] Speaker 46: You know, black voters, particularly black voters in the southern
[1:13:42] Speaker 46: part of our country, just don't have anything to hold
[1:13:47] Speaker 46: on to in protecting their right not just to vote,
[1:13:50] Speaker 46: but their right to participate in the process. And it's
[1:13:55] Speaker 46: a terrible day in America. And I tell people here
[1:13:58] Speaker 46: in Louisiana, look, don't stop voting.
[1:14:02] Speaker 12: Uh.
[1:14:02] Speaker 46: You need to vote, and you need to vote, uh
[1:14:05] Speaker 46: as often as you know you can because this this,
[1:14:10] Speaker 46: this is this will this too shall pass.
[1:14:12] Speaker 32: We've seen these tough times before, you know. Plus I v. Ferguson.
[1:14:16] Speaker 46: It came out of the state of Louisiana where a
[1:14:19] Speaker 46: Supreme Court said it was legal to be separate, uh, separated,
[1:14:24] Speaker 46: So we just have to keep fighting.
[1:14:26] Speaker 33: Uh.
[1:14:27] Speaker 46: And I think Reverend Barber is right, you know, uh,
[1:14:30] Speaker 46: you know it is. It is terrible what's taking place today.
[1:14:33] Speaker 46: But you can't give up on on that precious right
[1:14:37] Speaker 46: to vote. You gotta you gotta, you gotta fight even
[1:14:39] Speaker 46: more frofusely for it and come out of.
[1:14:43] Speaker 4: This hurt college and fields. Look this just stand in
[1:14:47] Speaker 4: the Supreme Court is allowing the Alabama to wipe out
[1:14:51] Speaker 4: the seat of Congressman Samari figures they're gonna vote next week.
[1:14:55] Speaker 4: Uh what Look what they did there and there in Louisiana.
[1:14:59] Speaker 4: Uh Alito said, oh no, that they can't go ahead.
[1:15:01] Speaker 5: And go through with this.
[1:15:02] Speaker 4: Normally they had this parcel of the per se doctrine,
[1:15:05] Speaker 4: if you will, so they did not make change as
[1:15:07] Speaker 4: people within the voting. It is stunning how this you
[1:15:10] Speaker 4: know you know Sphnkle Justine John Roberts has said, Oh,
[1:15:13] Speaker 4: the court it's nonpartisan. It is abundantly clear that this
[1:15:17] Speaker 4: court is doing the bidding of Republicans to allow them
[1:15:21] Speaker 4: to toss out votes during an election people already voted
[1:15:26] Speaker 4: to sit here and change to allow a map to
[1:15:29] Speaker 4: go into place with Alabama's voting next week. Uh this
[1:15:33] Speaker 4: is and and then in the case of Louisium, I
[1:15:35] Speaker 4: remember when the lower court, when in the court ruled
[1:15:38] Speaker 4: that it was unconstitutional. Was happening they froze the maps
[1:15:43] Speaker 4: in place to allow it to go forward. And so
[1:15:47] Speaker 4: this schizophrenic decision making makes it perfectly clear that this
[1:15:52] Speaker 4: this this conservative majority on the Supreme Court is highly
[1:15:57] Speaker 4: partisan and they are doing the work of Republicans and
[1:16:00] Speaker 4: this is not looking at the law, equal justice under law,
[1:16:03] Speaker 4: come together about.
[1:16:05] Speaker 32: It, I mean the Supreme Court.
[1:16:07] Speaker 46: Uh, basically, right after the ruin of you know, you know,
[1:16:12] Speaker 46: you give the opposing party the opportunity to request the rehearing,
[1:16:16] Speaker 46: the three judge panel and Shreeport just said, okay, Governor.
[1:16:20] Speaker 32: You're right, you can move forward.
[1:16:22] Speaker 46: And then Alito then comes back without the full court
[1:16:26] Speaker 46: just say they're right. You know, we don't think that
[1:16:30] Speaker 46: the that the Robinson plaintiffs were going to file for rehearing.
[1:16:35] Speaker 46: How do you how do you know what the judge,
[1:16:37] Speaker 46: I mean, what the lawyers are thinking. You know, it's
[1:16:39] Speaker 46: just absolutely asinine. Uh, the way this whole process has
[1:16:43] Speaker 46: been handled. And that's even more of a reason why
[1:16:46] Speaker 46: people should really pay attention and just get up and
[1:16:50] Speaker 46: go out and vote and register the vote. There's so
[1:16:53] Speaker 46: many people who are not registered to vote. I was
[1:16:55] Speaker 46: talking to the Legislative Black Caucus earlier to day, I said,
[1:16:58] Speaker 46: the reason why people feel comfortable that in doing what
[1:17:03] Speaker 46: they're doing is because they don't believe that we're going
[1:17:06] Speaker 46: to get out and vote. You know, I mean, I
[1:17:08] Speaker 46: have this theory, don't respect us, don't expect us, and
[1:17:12] Speaker 46: I think that should be the theory of every African American,
[1:17:16] Speaker 46: not only in Louisiana, but across this country.
[1:17:19] Speaker 32: You know, uh, this is just disrespectful of what they're doing.
[1:17:24] Speaker 46: You know, I've said time and time again, the issue
[1:17:26] Speaker 46: is not revenanite I serve another day in Congress. The
[1:17:29] Speaker 46: issue is revenode A person who looks like me will
[1:17:32] Speaker 46: have the mere opportunity to serve in Congress.
[1:17:36] Speaker 32: And and and that day is dwindling.
[1:17:40] Speaker 46: I mean, and and and people just need to pay
[1:17:42] Speaker 46: attention to it. I observe what's taking place, but more importantly,
[1:17:46] Speaker 46: get involved. Every sorority should get involved, Every fraternity should
[1:17:51] Speaker 46: get involved, Every community organization need to get involved, get
[1:17:56] Speaker 46: folk in involved in this process because you know, today
[1:18:02] Speaker 46: is members of Congress, Tomorrow is going to be state legislatures,
[1:18:06] Speaker 46: and then the day after that it'd be city council
[1:18:08] Speaker 46: at school boards. So we have to we have to
[1:18:11] Speaker 46: take these numbers and make sure that they're registered to
[1:18:15] Speaker 46: vote so we can stop some of this enclave of
[1:18:19] Speaker 46: just taking away people's you know, basic right, and that
[1:18:23] Speaker 46: is the right to vote.
[1:18:28] Speaker 4: Le O'fields, as you said, the fight continues and need
[1:18:33] Speaker 4: folks to remind them the election. Look, it's Saturday in Louisiana.
[1:18:37] Speaker 4: We're going to be in Montgomery, Alabama. Guys, pull the
[1:18:39] Speaker 4: graphic up because this is the kickoff of a national
[1:18:43] Speaker 4: Frankly Freedom Summer twenty twenty six. This is going to
[1:18:46] Speaker 4: be a six month effort. It's really the folk all
[1:18:49] Speaker 4: roadly to the south. The national they have action for
[1:18:51] Speaker 4: voting rights of people are going to be coalescing there.
[1:18:54] Speaker 4: We're gonna be live from Montgomery on Friday, live there
[1:18:56] Speaker 4: at one pm at one pm there as well. And
[1:19:00] Speaker 4: again what we need people understand is that again this
[1:19:03] Speaker 4: is about our power in congression. Fields, you nailed it.
[1:19:06] Speaker 4: We gotta use everything our disposal and that means we
[1:19:08] Speaker 4: got to register every single one of our folks to
[1:19:11] Speaker 4: get involved because we cannot took this out. This is
[1:19:13] Speaker 4: an anti black agenda affair executing in our faces. So
[1:19:18] Speaker 4: we appreciate Itffans a lot.
[1:19:20] Speaker 32: Thanks a lot, don't forget about South Carolina.
[1:19:22] Speaker 5: They rude. I mean they moved.
[1:19:24] Speaker 46: They're voting today as the revenant, they're going to undo. Uh,
[1:19:29] Speaker 46: James Clive and Sea, I mean Aladama, South Carolina. You
[1:19:33] Speaker 46: know all of these southern states, these states that have
[1:19:36] Speaker 46: a history of discrimination.
[1:19:40] Speaker 32: Thank you, Rowan, going on too long.
[1:19:43] Speaker 4: I appreciate it. Thanks a lot, folks. Let's go back
[1:19:46] Speaker 4: to Bishop William Barber here is here because closing up for.
[1:19:48] Speaker 13: Marks, regeneration has its moment.
[1:19:55] Speaker 12: I said, we're great hair. The only reason you still
[1:20:01] Speaker 12: here because you know how to fight. If you got
[1:20:07] Speaker 12: gray hair, you've been through some fights. I see some
[1:20:11] Speaker 12: of you out there who are middle aged, and now.
[1:20:15] Speaker 13: Because you know how to fight.
[1:20:19] Speaker 4: If you got great hair, you've been through some fights.
[1:20:23] Speaker 12: I see some of you out there who are middle aged,
[1:20:27] Speaker 12: and now we need to fight because we've been living
[1:20:30] Speaker 12: off the fight of other people that lived before us.
[1:20:35] Speaker 12: And then I see some of you who are young
[1:20:38] Speaker 12: and you've never really fought. Well, it's time for you
[1:20:41] Speaker 12: to get into battle and fight for justice. And Hebrews
[1:20:48] Speaker 12: the Bible says the people were about to quit. It's
[1:20:50] Speaker 12: a book in the Bible. Paul wrote it something saying
[1:20:52] Speaker 12: the people about to quit, they were about to turn
[1:20:55] Speaker 12: back because they were these mean caesars, these authoritarians, and
[1:20:58] Speaker 12: they were just beating.
[1:20:59] Speaker 13: The He said, listen, we are not of those.
[1:21:05] Speaker 3: Who shrink back under destruction, but we are the those
[1:21:10] Speaker 3: who personally until the salvation of.
[1:21:17] Speaker 20: That's who we are.
[1:21:20] Speaker 5: Let tell me.
[1:21:22] Speaker 47: And then getting ahead in march and he said, they listen,
[1:21:26] Speaker 47: we are They shouldn't have poked us like this. We
[1:21:36] Speaker 47: are not schizophendic.
[1:21:37] Speaker 13: Tell you that we are not skins of friendic.
[1:21:41] Speaker 20: We know exactly what we are telling them.
[1:21:45] Speaker 12: We are not do the mind.
[1:21:48] Speaker 19: We are sure the father Jonas.
[1:21:53] Speaker 13: Who said, I you have freezers over and they fight
[1:21:58] Speaker 13: on the ice. Tell your neighbor.
[1:22:01] Speaker 20: They must not know who we are.
[1:22:05] Speaker 12: We're the children of family name. We're the children of
[1:22:11] Speaker 12: Francis Perkins. We're the children I'm.
[1:22:16] Speaker 20: Going to dead.
[1:22:18] Speaker 15: We're the children of Corunners out King.
[1:22:22] Speaker 20: We're the children of hell they are. We're the shurere
[1:22:28] Speaker 20: of by.
[1:22:28] Speaker 12: My head shoulder. We're the children of my comments. We're
[1:22:34] Speaker 12: the children of Martin King. And we don't at one
[1:22:39] Speaker 12: way one day and then at another another day. We
[1:22:45] Speaker 12: don't scratch when We're not hit you.
[1:22:49] Speaker 19: We don't laugh.
[1:22:50] Speaker 20: We're nothing is funny. We don't tell lie just to
[1:22:54] Speaker 20: get bye. We are the generation that we I've been
[1:23:00] Speaker 20: looking for.
[1:23:02] Speaker 12: We are the repairers of the breach. We are the
[1:23:06] Speaker 12: people that can make a difference. And right now we
[1:23:11] Speaker 12: must say we must keep growing, rising and expanding this movement, growing,
[1:23:22] Speaker 12: rising and expanding this moving until the war ends. Growing rising,
[1:23:32] Speaker 12: expanding this movement until.
[1:23:35] Speaker 13: Morning rits a restored.
[1:23:37] Speaker 12: Growing rising, expanding this moment until living wages. I guarantee
[1:23:44] Speaker 12: you growing, rising and expanding this moment.
[1:23:51] Speaker 15: Until everybody has him killed as a human.
[1:23:55] Speaker 14: Right, growing, rising, expanding this movement.
[1:24:03] Speaker 20: That's who we are. We don't sit out. We don't
[1:24:07] Speaker 20: shut up. We don't die out, we don't go away.
[1:24:13] Speaker 12: We keep standing until pain becomes powerful, until our hurt
[1:24:21] Speaker 12: turns into heating, until frustration become faith. We know who
[1:24:29] Speaker 12: we are, and because of who we are, we will
[1:24:33] Speaker 12: never stop rowing, rising, and expanding this movement.
[1:24:42] Speaker 15: We will keep on.
[1:24:45] Speaker 20: Nah nah, He's fall.
[1:24:49] Speaker 15: And forever more.
[1:24:51] Speaker 20: It is our time to cure this nation one more time.
[1:25:00] Speaker 19: Are you rather?
[1:25:02] Speaker 20: Are you rather to grow to it'spad?
[1:25:07] Speaker 40: To rise?
[1:25:09] Speaker 19: To grow?
[1:25:11] Speaker 20: It's bad alive. Now you're fall.
[1:25:17] Speaker 12: If I ever am all, I tell what's written, is
[1:25:22] Speaker 12: what's true, One nation undergone, indivisible with liberty and justice
[1:25:32] Speaker 12: for all.
[1:25:33] Speaker 15: Now he's fall and forever more.
[1:25:38] Speaker 13: Wow, you're fall and forever more. It's our time.
[1:25:45] Speaker 12: Wrap somebody, don't let you and hope him real good
[1:25:48] Speaker 12: and tell him I'm glad you alive.
[1:25:50] Speaker 5: For this fight.
[1:25:54] Speaker 13: Tell him I'm glad you're alive on this fight. I'm
[1:25:58] Speaker 13: lad you alive.
[1:26:01] Speaker 5: This is fine.
[1:26:06] Speaker 48: How many of you are gonna walk with us? The
[1:26:11] Speaker 48: Pennsylvania A question the sixteen We need all the all bands.
[1:26:18] Speaker 48: They call me the center. So the people are gonna
[1:26:20] Speaker 48: put their bodies on the line of today.
[1:26:27] Speaker 4: Come on in, Come on in, all right, folks, let
[1:26:30] Speaker 4: me just give you a sense of what's gonna happen.
[1:26:32] Speaker 4: First of all, we're here at Black Lives Matter Classic
[1:26:36] Speaker 4: here in Washington, d C. At sixteen age. So we
[1:26:39] Speaker 4: have a we have another camera that's going to be
[1:26:42] Speaker 4: traveling with Bishop Barbera and the others in terms of
[1:26:46] Speaker 4: with this this action they're going to be doing. First
[1:26:48] Speaker 4: of all, give me, give me Can we get that shot?
[1:26:52] Speaker 4: Can we get that shot? So we can uh give
[1:26:56] Speaker 4: me yeah. Yeah, So Anthony tel Antoine to get in positions.
[1:27:00] Speaker 4: So let me see, let me see his shot if
[1:27:03] Speaker 4: we can do we have a shot up.
[1:27:05] Speaker 13: We're going down two by two, two by two. Some
[1:27:10] Speaker 13: of us are not going yet.
[1:27:11] Speaker 4: Okay, all right, guys, So we need so we need
[1:27:12] Speaker 4: to we need to get Antoine shot up. So he's
[1:27:15] Speaker 4: gonna follow them. So he's what we're gonna do. We're
[1:27:18] Speaker 4: gonna keep that feed going, gonna we're gonna keep that
[1:27:20] Speaker 4: feed going. Uh okay, y'all be sure to let him
[1:27:23] Speaker 4: know this shot is up. We're gonna keep that feed
[1:27:25] Speaker 4: is going as we uh as we continue the show.
[1:27:29] Speaker 4: I'm gonna give people, just want to give people a
[1:27:31] Speaker 4: sense of where we are in terms of what is
[1:27:33] Speaker 4: going on today. A lot of action happening today. First off,
[1:27:37] Speaker 4: let me do this year. I'm gonna bring in my
[1:27:39] Speaker 4: panel right now, Doctor Amy Congo to being a senior
[1:27:42] Speaker 4: defer author Electric School for your National Service, America University,
[1:27:46] Speaker 4: Thelma Anderson, creator of the Public Opinion Court and the
[1:27:49] Speaker 4: author Shut Up and Prosecute out of Dallas. Nicole Robinson
[1:27:52] Speaker 4: Political Law Turning and Strategies out of DC. So, folks,
[1:27:55] Speaker 4: let me just give you a sense of where we are. Frankly,
[1:27:59] Speaker 4: it has been a devastating day. We've been talking about
[1:28:01] Speaker 4: this GP war on Black America. It has been a
[1:28:05] Speaker 4: devastating day. The Supreme Court rule that they are allowing
[1:28:10] Speaker 4: Alabama to move forward with this map, wiping out this
[1:28:15] Speaker 4: deceit of Congressman Shamari Figures overruling a lower court. They said,
[1:28:19] Speaker 4: stick with those with with with the current configuration. Now
[1:28:23] Speaker 4: folks as unpreceded it because they vote next week. This
[1:28:29] Speaker 4: is absolutely crazy. Now what that's happening. South Carolina is
[1:28:32] Speaker 4: circulating on map that will completely wipe out the congressional
[1:28:35] Speaker 4: seat of longtime congress and Jim Clyburn, the only Democrat,
[1:28:39] Speaker 4: only African American representing South Carolina. Also, we'll talk about Louisiana.
[1:28:45] Speaker 4: They also first of all, Virginia. Virginia Democrats have filed
[1:28:50] Speaker 4: with the Supreme Court asking to overbrid a decision for
[1:28:54] Speaker 4: the state's highest court was struck down. The voter approved
[1:28:58] Speaker 4: new maps there in Virginia. Also happening today, Give me
[1:29:04] Speaker 4: one second, you wanted to stend the Confederacy. The Louisiana
[1:29:07] Speaker 4: House voted this is seventy eight to fourteen for a
[1:29:10] Speaker 4: bill to transfer Confederate monuments that have been removed to
[1:29:14] Speaker 4: state parks. Yes, whether it will be on display again.
[1:29:18] Speaker 4: So Mega Governor Jef Landergy wants those Confederate monuments to
[1:29:21] Speaker 4: be up. Also in North Carolina, I have been at
[1:29:24] Speaker 4: lawsuit against the North Carolina state Senate map and this
[1:29:28] Speaker 4: guess what they ended. That particular lawsuit represented Rodney Pierce
[1:29:33] Speaker 4: side of the Supreme Courts voting rights had ruling said quote.
[1:29:36] Speaker 4: Because of that decision, there's no longer a path open
[1:29:39] Speaker 4: to us to protect the voting rights of black citizens
[1:29:43] Speaker 4: in my part of the state. And so we are
[1:29:45] Speaker 4: seeing these actions again today Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina, and
[1:29:51] Speaker 4: so it is continuing. And so that's what's happening. So
[1:29:56] Speaker 4: let's go to my panel on m Congas start with
[1:29:59] Speaker 4: you again. This is an absolute, an absolute partisan Supreme Court.
[1:30:06] Speaker 4: It is a stunning that they will allow Alabama to
[1:30:11] Speaker 4: move forward with this new map, wiping out one seat
[1:30:14] Speaker 4: that is of congressention smart figures, and they start voting
[1:30:17] Speaker 4: next week. I mean, the press has always been you
[1:30:21] Speaker 4: don't make these decisions so close to the election. No,
[1:30:24] Speaker 4: what they have decided is damn all of that we
[1:30:28] Speaker 4: are letting these Macca Republicans go ahead first, don't even
[1:30:32] Speaker 4: care talk about election next week. We allow Louisiana to
[1:30:36] Speaker 4: throw out balance folks had already voted. Absolutely shocking and
[1:30:41] Speaker 4: stunning what we are seeing here from this right wing
[1:30:44] Speaker 4: MACA Supreme Court.
[1:30:48] Speaker 49: Oh absolutely, And they are just bringing to the forefront
[1:30:51] Speaker 49: what people like Roberts have been.
[1:30:53] Speaker 5: Working on for decades.
[1:30:54] Speaker 49: And now people were acting as if it happened overnight,
[1:30:58] Speaker 49: But this has been their long term plan.
[1:31:00] Speaker 5: And you have called it out.
[1:31:01] Speaker 49: Reverend Barbara has always called it out. So many people
[1:31:03] Speaker 49: are Cleo Fields representative have always called it out, and
[1:31:06] Speaker 49: now America is seeing it right in front of our
[1:31:09] Speaker 49: eyes in real time right now. And then the question,
[1:31:12] Speaker 49: as a late great doctor Joe Madison said, is what
[1:31:14] Speaker 49: are you going to do about it? We're out there
[1:31:17] Speaker 49: taking to the streets. Blackstar Network's always representing most of
[1:31:19] Speaker 49: these networks on covering these rallies to have maybe a
[1:31:22] Speaker 49: couple of minutes to talk about these Supreme Court decisions.
[1:31:24] Speaker 49: Then they're going right back onto Iran or some other
[1:31:26] Speaker 49: type of place. This is what's happening in our country
[1:31:29] Speaker 49: right now, as is being destroyed and so who's going.
[1:31:32] Speaker 5: To be on debt?
[1:31:33] Speaker 49: You know, where's the business community? Where are the athletes?
[1:31:36] Speaker 49: Where are the professionals? Where are the musicians?
[1:31:38] Speaker 12: We right here.
[1:31:39] Speaker 49: We are the revolutionaries. We are the ones fighting everybody.
[1:31:42] Speaker 49: This is the all hands on debt moment right now.
[1:31:44] Speaker 49: And if people, everybody who thought the Stephen A. Smith's
[1:31:47] Speaker 49: out there, oh, go vote Republican the other folks out there,
[1:31:49] Speaker 49: your vote doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, or we're giving
[1:31:51] Speaker 49: it all the way to Democrats. This is the result
[1:31:54] Speaker 49: of what happens when we don't stay engaged. And this
[1:31:57] Speaker 49: Supreme Court, and this is a crazy part of roll.
[1:32:00] Speaker 49: Like they told us, all of this project twenty twenty five,
[1:32:03] Speaker 49: everything that they've done has been to get us to
[1:32:05] Speaker 49: this moment right now, and they are not done. So
[1:32:08] Speaker 49: all those folks out there talking about resting and all,
[1:32:11] Speaker 49: this is the moment. It's been the moment, but it's
[1:32:14] Speaker 49: literally now or never.
[1:32:15] Speaker 50: This is the fight.
[1:32:16] Speaker 5: We have to continue to fight and continue to wage.
[1:32:18] Speaker 5: And we're not done.
[1:32:19] Speaker 49: It's not over, but they want us to think us over.
[1:32:22] Speaker 49: But this maga Supreme Court, you knowl the properly it's
[1:32:24] Speaker 49: not a partisan court. It's a maga Supreme Court, and
[1:32:28] Speaker 49: we have to respond accordingly, which is what we're doing
[1:32:30] Speaker 49: tonight and what we're doing every day.
[1:32:32] Speaker 5: Where's everybody else?
[1:32:36] Speaker 4: Film is a sign over Supreme Court that says equal
[1:32:38] Speaker 4: justice under law. There's no such thing as equal justice
[1:32:42] Speaker 4: under law. Gods please, when you please leave the protesters
[1:32:46] Speaker 4: up in a two box. Okay, switch the other box,
[1:32:49] Speaker 4: Okay to leave up the protesters, thank you? Okay. So
[1:32:55] Speaker 4: this is what I need filming. People understand what is
[1:32:57] Speaker 4: going on here is an absolute travesty that we are
[1:33:01] Speaker 4: seeing right now. They don't care about equal justice under law.
[1:33:05] Speaker 4: This is all about them doing whatever the hell they
[1:33:07] Speaker 4: want because they know they can.
[1:33:10] Speaker 51: That is absolutely correct, Roland. It is equal maga under
[1:33:14] Speaker 51: the law. And let's point out because since Alabama in
[1:33:19] Speaker 51: the Supreme Court wants to say that it is okay
[1:33:22] Speaker 51: for them so close to the election to make this
[1:33:26] Speaker 51: dramatic change, Well, they didn't prosecute Donald Trump when there
[1:33:32] Speaker 51: was an indictment that Jack Smith had got from the
[1:33:36] Speaker 51: grand jury to bring him to just mean, bring him
[1:33:39] Speaker 51: to trial for the crimes that he had committed. But
[1:33:44] Speaker 51: because he was a former president and it was so
[1:33:47] Speaker 51: close to the goddamn election. Now they want to say that, oh,
[1:33:50] Speaker 51: that wasn't okay, But this is okay. When we are
[1:33:54] Speaker 51: talking about the rights to vote, you are taking our
[1:33:58] Speaker 51: constitutional rights away because you are afraid of our power.
[1:34:04] Speaker 10: That is not our problem. That is your mediocre problem.
[1:34:09] Speaker 51: And the fact of the matter is, I don't think
[1:34:11] Speaker 51: people really understand that when you go out and vote,
[1:34:16] Speaker 51: you have to go.
[1:34:16] Speaker 10: Out and vote right.
[1:34:19] Speaker 51: Your Attorney General is very important, Your DA is important,
[1:34:25] Speaker 51: Your congressmen, your senator are important. Because guess what, they're
[1:34:29] Speaker 51: going to wrap all this up together like these mega
[1:34:33] Speaker 51: states have done, and because he has that MAGA Supreme Court,
[1:34:37] Speaker 51: they have utilized all their tools and resources to come
[1:34:43] Speaker 51: in and say, we're going to strip the African American
[1:34:48] Speaker 51: parties minorities of their ability to go out and exercise
[1:34:54] Speaker 51: their vote. But no, we're not sitting behind closed doors
[1:34:58] Speaker 51: and allowedness to happen if they want, they ain't seen.
[1:35:02] Speaker 51: We are the product of our ancestors and we're gonna
[1:35:04] Speaker 51: show up and fight each and every day. Since they
[1:35:07] Speaker 51: wanted this, they better hope that by the end of
[1:35:10] Speaker 51: this that they are still standing.
[1:35:16] Speaker 4: Nicole, Listen, it's clear we see exactly what they are
[1:35:21] Speaker 4: doing and they're not hiding it. And what this Supreme
[1:35:26] Speaker 4: Court is saying, ya do whatever y'all want to. We
[1:35:29] Speaker 4: don't care about anything in any precedent. And so what
[1:35:32] Speaker 4: I need every black person to understand when I say
[1:35:35] Speaker 4: this means war, this means war. We're going to be
[1:35:38] Speaker 4: in Montgomery on a Saturday for this kickoff, this national kickoff,
[1:35:42] Speaker 4: for this voter registration effort. Listen, this is all hands
[1:35:47] Speaker 4: on deck and this is no game. If we sit
[1:35:51] Speaker 4: this out, we might as well give up. Because what
[1:35:54] Speaker 4: they are trying to do is they try to completely
[1:35:57] Speaker 4: destroy black political power.
[1:36:03] Speaker 26: And you're right, you hit that right on the head, Roland.
[1:36:06] Speaker 52: What they're doing at the Supreme Court is sending us
[1:36:08] Speaker 52: a message that they do not care about the constitution,
[1:36:12] Speaker 52: They do not care about the law. All they care
[1:36:14] Speaker 52: about is disenfranchising black people. And think about it, Louisiana
[1:36:18] Speaker 52: is a state that is one third black and they
[1:36:21] Speaker 52: are about to have zero, zero representation in Congress. That
[1:36:25] Speaker 52: should alarm everybody who claims to care about democracy and
[1:36:29] Speaker 52: voting and a vote for everybody, because it's not just
[1:36:32] Speaker 52: going to be black people, it's not just going to
[1:36:34] Speaker 52: be the South. They are going to disenfranchise Democrats all
[1:36:37] Speaker 52: across the country, and the South is just the first
[1:36:40] Speaker 52: step to this. So we have to make sure that
[1:36:42] Speaker 52: we're taken to the streets and showing them that we
[1:36:44] Speaker 52: are not just going to take this and showing up
[1:36:47] Speaker 52: at the polls.
[1:36:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean this is again, I mean, it's just
[1:36:57] Speaker 4: one after another, one after another in this Supreme Court
[1:37:02] Speaker 4: letting them do whatever. So what does this tell us
[1:37:04] Speaker 4: ome Congo that are they going to rule against what
[1:37:08] Speaker 4: Tennessee did wiping out de seat in Memphis? Nope? Are
[1:37:13] Speaker 4: they going to let's say, South Carolina does what they do? Nope,
[1:37:17] Speaker 4: Because here's what they've decided. The Supreme Court has said, oh,
[1:37:21] Speaker 4: if you use race and it walls black people, then
[1:37:24] Speaker 4: guess what you can get rid of this. But this
[1:37:27] Speaker 4: same Supreme Court has no issue with seventy five eighty
[1:37:30] Speaker 4: percent white districts. And so what they're saying is we
[1:37:34] Speaker 4: are going to protect white voters, We're not going to
[1:37:37] Speaker 4: protect black voters.
[1:37:41] Speaker 5: And this is a challenge to those white voters.
[1:37:43] Speaker 49: We know in this country that white voters have not
[1:37:45] Speaker 49: voted in majority for Democrats is nineteen sixty four. And
[1:37:48] Speaker 49: while people are talking about what black people are doing,
[1:37:50] Speaker 49: what their vote, what are white people doing with these votes?
[1:37:53] Speaker 49: Because we know even in the South, especially in the South,
[1:37:55] Speaker 49: that white Democrats will still not vote for a black
[1:37:58] Speaker 49: candidate in many and so are they going to step
[1:38:01] Speaker 49: up in this moment? There are white democratic areas right
[1:38:04] Speaker 49: now in these states that are not being touched right now.
[1:38:07] Speaker 49: It's just the black groups that are being touched right
[1:38:09] Speaker 49: now where and the Maga Supreme Court and Trump, they
[1:38:12] Speaker 49: all know that they can continue play on the white vote,
[1:38:15] Speaker 49: that they can continually play on the white grievance. But
[1:38:17] Speaker 49: just like you said a few minutes ago, it's just
[1:38:19] Speaker 49: a matter of time before they come for them to
[1:38:21] Speaker 49: They always start with black people because they know that
[1:38:23] Speaker 49: people don't care as much about black people as anybody else.
[1:38:26] Speaker 5: And once they get through with us, they go for
[1:38:28] Speaker 5: everybody else.
[1:38:28] Speaker 49: So you white democrats out there, are you white liberals,
[1:38:31] Speaker 49: so called liberal, so called progressives, what this is your
[1:38:34] Speaker 49: moment right now to stand up as well. Everybody wants
[1:38:36] Speaker 49: to put all of the onus on what black people
[1:38:38] Speaker 49: need to be doing, And we're doing what we need
[1:38:40] Speaker 49: to do. Black voters matter, all of the organ We're
[1:38:42] Speaker 49: doing what we're supposed to do.
[1:38:43] Speaker 5: What are you going to do?
[1:38:44] Speaker 49: Are you going to continue to let this Maga Supreme
[1:38:46] Speaker 49: Court play on your grievance, play on this idea that
[1:38:49] Speaker 49: white is right? Are you all going to step up
[1:38:52] Speaker 49: in this moment? And to be quite honest, Roland, I
[1:38:54] Speaker 49: don't really know what they're going to do, but I
[1:38:56] Speaker 49: know that we have brought this country to a feal before.
[1:38:59] Speaker 49: We have done more with less, and so we have
[1:39:02] Speaker 49: to continue to do more what we have right now.
[1:39:04] Speaker 49: But this is also a cause of white American And
[1:39:06] Speaker 49: where do you want to be in this moment in
[1:39:08] Speaker 49: history right now? Because we've seen where you've been over
[1:39:11] Speaker 49: the last fifty sixty seventy years.
[1:39:16] Speaker 4: Indeed, Nicole, we've had a number of white folks allies
[1:39:20] Speaker 4: reach out to say, hey, how can we stand with
[1:39:23] Speaker 4: you with what's happening on Saturday May sixteenth? And you know, frankly,
[1:39:30] Speaker 4: you know, the position that I have is the one
[1:39:32] Speaker 4: that Malcolm X had when a young lady came up
[1:39:35] Speaker 4: to him. He was speaking one of the colleges, and
[1:39:37] Speaker 4: she said, mister X, what can I do for your people?
[1:39:40] Speaker 4: He said nothing in the book though that was of
[1:39:42] Speaker 4: course seen in the movie. In the book, though, he
[1:39:44] Speaker 4: said that he wished he had told her, Hey, I'm
[1:39:47] Speaker 4: good with my people. You need to go back and
[1:39:48] Speaker 4: do with your people. And that's what I'll say, Nicole.
[1:39:51] Speaker 4: White allies, y'all need to go register white people. Y'all
[1:39:55] Speaker 4: need to go organize and mobilize white people. Because ninety
[1:39:59] Speaker 4: million people did not vote in the twenty twenty four election.
[1:40:02] Speaker 4: It's a whole lot of those folks are white, and
[1:40:05] Speaker 4: so they need to be going and mobilizing those white
[1:40:07] Speaker 4: folks in Mississippi, in Alabama, in Tennessee, in Georgia, in
[1:40:12] Speaker 4: North Carolina, in South Carolina, in Florida. That's what they
[1:40:16] Speaker 4: need to go do.
[1:40:18] Speaker 52: And I have a picture of malcolm 's right here,
[1:40:20] Speaker 52: so I know exactly what you're talking about. The same
[1:40:22] Speaker 52: white people who were out in the streets in twenty
[1:40:25] Speaker 52: twenty marching for Black Lives Matter and the murder of
[1:40:27] Speaker 52: George Floyd need to be the same people who are
[1:40:30] Speaker 52: registering their family and friends to vote, who are having
[1:40:33] Speaker 52: those tough conversations with their grandparents about what they need
[1:40:36] Speaker 52: to do and how this is also going to impact
[1:40:38] Speaker 52: their retirement plans and the gas prices.
[1:40:41] Speaker 26: This is impacting everybody.
[1:40:42] Speaker 52: They need to get out there and preach that to
[1:40:44] Speaker 52: their people. And not only that, they also need to
[1:40:47] Speaker 52: put their money where their mouth is.
[1:40:49] Speaker 26: Donate some of.
[1:40:50] Speaker 52: Your money to the NAACP LDF who is fighting these
[1:40:54] Speaker 52: terrible court cases across the country, because we still need
[1:40:57] Speaker 52: to fight in the courts.
[1:40:58] Speaker 26: Donate to some of these.
[1:40:59] Speaker 52: Church who are advocating and who are registering black people
[1:41:02] Speaker 52: to vote. There's a lot of things that white people
[1:41:04] Speaker 52: can do, and they cannot just sit back on the
[1:41:06] Speaker 52: sidelines and tweet and make Instagram posts about this.
[1:41:09] Speaker 26: They need to put their money and their feet where
[1:41:11] Speaker 26: their mouths are.
[1:41:18] Speaker 4: A veilma to that particular point there again, this is
[1:41:22] Speaker 4: where white folks need to be talking to white people.
[1:41:25] Speaker 4: They need to be going into those rural towns talking
[1:41:28] Speaker 4: about how MAGA is hurting those folks, talking about how
[1:41:31] Speaker 4: a representation is screwing them. And so if we talk
[1:41:35] Speaker 4: about look, black folks, we know what to do, okay,
[1:41:38] Speaker 4: we know how to move, we know our mobillezs are organized.
[1:41:40] Speaker 4: This is where white folks need to be putting their
[1:41:43] Speaker 4: money on the line and getting this whole thing together.
[1:41:47] Speaker 51: Absolutely, And you bring a great point because yesterday, there
[1:41:52] Speaker 51: was a comment made in a post that I was
[1:41:55] Speaker 51: tagged in where there was a white female that stated
[1:41:59] Speaker 51: that we should have been at the.
[1:42:03] Speaker 10: Rally that they the No King's rally.
[1:42:06] Speaker 51: With them, And I said to myself, lady, we have
[1:42:11] Speaker 51: been at every movement, started movements, supported every movement. It
[1:42:16] Speaker 51: is y'all's time to show up and show solidarity and
[1:42:21] Speaker 51: also see what it actually takes in order for someone
[1:42:26] Speaker 51: to fight for democracy. So when I'm talking to my
[1:42:29] Speaker 51: white allies and my white colleagues, you have the resources,
[1:42:35] Speaker 51: you have the access, you have the proximity. There is
[1:42:39] Speaker 51: no reason why they are not coming together to make
[1:42:43] Speaker 51: sure that their people are on the front line and
[1:42:47] Speaker 51: not in the back just sitting waiting for the damage
[1:42:51] Speaker 51: to continue. We have white colleagues that can offer legal
[1:42:56] Speaker 51: resources in this realm, and they have, but we need more.
[1:43:01] Speaker 51: We need more from them instead of them worrying about
[1:43:04] Speaker 51: what we're going to do. Our pedigree never change. We
[1:43:08] Speaker 51: always show up. We always are on the front line.
[1:43:12] Speaker 51: Now it's time for other races to go into their communities,
[1:43:17] Speaker 51: pull to their people, make sure that their people are registered,
[1:43:20] Speaker 51: make sure that their people are informed.
[1:43:22] Speaker 10: Make sure that they are engaged.
[1:43:23] Speaker 51: Make sure they are showing up so that we can
[1:43:26] Speaker 51: make sure that this country does not go to hell
[1:43:30] Speaker 51: the way that MAGA and these disgusting pedophiles want it
[1:43:35] Speaker 51: to be. Like, no, it's not all about black people.
[1:43:38] Speaker 51: It's time for every other race to put up or
[1:43:42] Speaker 51: shut the fuck up.
[1:43:47] Speaker 4: It is, folks, a lot going on. This Supreme Court
[1:43:52] Speaker 4: decision two weeks ago, almost two weeks ago, has caused
[1:43:57] Speaker 4: massive up people, and we are seeing how quickly these
[1:44:01] Speaker 4: conservative white Republicans in the South are moving to eradicate
[1:44:05] Speaker 4: black representation. Let me remind folks again, on Saturday, we
[1:44:10] Speaker 4: are going to be in Montgomery, Alabama, where there's going
[1:44:13] Speaker 4: to be the kickoff to a national voter mobilization effort
[1:44:17] Speaker 4: taking place. And it won't be just there in Montgomery.
[1:44:21] Speaker 4: They're going to be people who are going to be
[1:44:23] Speaker 4: in satellite locations all across. It is about coming together
[1:44:27] Speaker 4: in mass All ROAs lead to the South. And again
[1:44:30] Speaker 4: the strategy is very simple. The primary in Louisiana on
[1:44:34] Speaker 4: May sixteenth. You have Georgia voting on May nineteenth. Alabama's
[1:44:38] Speaker 4: going to be voting next week as well, so primaries
[1:44:41] Speaker 4: are taking place. But this is about a massive national
[1:44:45] Speaker 4: voter registration campaign. We want to activate every African American
[1:44:50] Speaker 4: to make this thing happen. And so as you see
[1:44:53] Speaker 4: on the screen, folks, Bishop William Barber in the repairs
[1:44:56] Speaker 4: of the breach, you see them, they are of course
[1:44:59] Speaker 4: marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. They are again letting it be
[1:45:06] Speaker 4: known to this, to Donald Trump, to Republicans that they're
[1:45:10] Speaker 4: going to continue using their moral voice to speak to
[1:45:13] Speaker 4: the issues. We're going to continue to cover this as well.
[1:45:15] Speaker 4: So let me take a quick break. We're going to
[1:45:17] Speaker 4: keep that shot feet. They're now on the seventeenth Street
[1:45:21] Speaker 4: as well, so we're going to keep this feed going.
[1:45:22] Speaker 4: I'm going to go to a break and we come
[1:45:24] Speaker 4: back more. Roland Martin unfiltered on the Black Studying Network
[1:45:27] Speaker 4: live here on Black Lives Matter of Plaza in the
[1:45:29] Speaker 4: Nation's Capital of Washington, d C.
[1:45:31] Speaker 53: Back in the moment, with medicine and science under attack,
[1:45:35] Speaker 53: I want to keep you and your family informed and healthy.
[1:45:39] Speaker 53: I'm doctor Ebity Hilton, and I knew at the age
[1:45:41] Speaker 53: of eight that.
[1:45:41] Speaker 10: I wanted to be a doctor.
[1:45:43] Speaker 53: So I studied hard and became the first African American
[1:45:46] Speaker 53: female and sociologists hired at the Medical University of South

[1:55:22] Speaker 46: Be more.
[1:55:28] Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we want everybody, all the clergy, to
[1:55:33] Speaker 12: come in this circle with those who were intending to
[1:55:38] Speaker 12: put their bodies on the line, that there any other
[1:55:40] Speaker 12: clergy that will come into this circle, and the rest
[1:55:43] Speaker 12: of you all will circle around us. As we tell folk,
[1:55:53] Speaker 12: we never come to get arrested. We come to arrest
[1:55:58] Speaker 12: the attention of the nation. And that means that our
[1:56:05] Speaker 12: primary goal. You know, some people just think you're just
[1:56:08] Speaker 12: non violence is just getting on getting handcuffed from them.
[1:56:11] Speaker 12: But nonviolence of disablients is all of this. Your protest
[1:56:17] Speaker 12: is non violence. This will be your prayers help me
[1:56:21] Speaker 12: with this, might be prayers in a minutes to go
[1:56:24] Speaker 12: through the poor pit of in.
[1:56:26] Speaker 13: The sanctuary and in the public square.
[1:56:28] Speaker 12: It's a form of non violence right when we choose
[1:56:32] Speaker 12: to vote a certain way, when we speak out, when
[1:56:35] Speaker 12: we truth telling is the most radical thing you can
[1:56:40] Speaker 12: do in a season of lies, Bishop, just telling the truth.
[1:56:45] Speaker 12: You know, Jeremiah said they all it lie. Somebody gotta
[1:56:47] Speaker 12: tell truth. So we've understand that some decisions have been
[1:56:52] Speaker 12: made to quote unquote not arrest anybody even though knowing it.
[1:56:56] Speaker 13: But that's okay because that's a victim to see.
[1:57:04] Speaker 12: When the system decides that if they arrest you, it's
[1:57:09] Speaker 12: gonna make too much.
[1:57:10] Speaker 5: No, you know that really is a victim.
[1:57:23] Speaker 49: Huh.
[1:57:24] Speaker 12: But what some folk whoever made the decisions don't understand.
[1:57:28] Speaker 12: We're gonna still keep coming and more people coming because
[1:57:34] Speaker 12: we are not just trying to do something here. Y'all
[1:57:37] Speaker 12: know in sixteen states folks are doing the same thing.
[1:57:46] Speaker 12: And and and and folks said when we first habitate you,
[1:57:49] Speaker 12: they said, but it's not gonna work in DC seven
[1:57:52] Speaker 12: weeks today, seven weeks. And all of you who are clergy,
[1:57:57] Speaker 12: if we skip next week, when you come back to
[1:57:59] Speaker 12: far when we didn't, there's some comfort we're gonna come
[1:58:02] Speaker 12: back to follow huh. And break going on before Memorial
[1:58:06] Speaker 12: Day and we want to bring in and I want
[1:58:09] Speaker 12: to say the folk and clergy, this is the time
[1:58:12] Speaker 12: to release your congregations and whatnot because we are arresting
[1:58:17] Speaker 12: the attention. Do you know that one of the Star
[1:58:19] Speaker 12: network has over two million viewers that did us live
[1:58:24] Speaker 12: stream today? Do you know that when we did pressure
[1:58:29] Speaker 12: conference recently in North Carolina? Uh, it went viral, We
[1:58:36] Speaker 12: went viral. Do you know how much power we got
[1:58:39] Speaker 12: to be standing out here in the middle of rush
[1:58:40] Speaker 12: hour in DC, y'all just grat We just in the
[1:58:44] Speaker 12: middle of love and so power. Were just in the
[1:58:46] Speaker 12: middle of say and we got police protection. Here we
[1:58:55] Speaker 12: are in the middle of the street. We ain't like
[1:58:58] Speaker 12: January sixth, we ain't. We got the miller and the.
[1:59:01] Speaker 5: In Washington, d C.
[1:59:04] Speaker 12: On a Monday after Mother's Day during rush hour, y'all,
[1:59:11] Speaker 12: dounetook the street comes and and and and God police protection.
[1:59:19] Speaker 12: That's all right, And that's a sign. And whoever is
[1:59:23] Speaker 12: around says, don't touch them because because they ain't gonna
[1:59:29] Speaker 12: do them and go jail that they just they'll they'll,
[1:59:31] Speaker 12: they'll give you the hand. They're not gonna fight, they're
[1:59:34] Speaker 12: not gonna tear anything down. But if you touch them,
[1:59:39] Speaker 12: then it's only gonna draw more. It's gonna be magnetic.
[1:59:45] Speaker 12: So whoever thought we might do something crazy just to
[1:59:48] Speaker 12: get her at, we not do that.
[1:59:50] Speaker 5: We just be back. We're back. And I do want that.
[1:59:54] Speaker 5: I do want to ask the clergy in Washington, d C.
[1:59:58] Speaker 12: I wouldn't love for us on one mall Monday that
[2:00:02] Speaker 12: to find that one of the biggest sanctuaries we could
[2:00:06] Speaker 12: have and have the biggest bands, interracial into faith worship
[2:00:12] Speaker 12: service on the marrow Monday. You think y'all can pull
[2:00:15] Speaker 12: that off? This I mean, I'm talking about just like
[2:00:19] Speaker 12: pack the whole church and put speakers up so that
[2:00:22] Speaker 12: it's outside. If it takes, if it'll takes three weeks
[2:00:25] Speaker 12: to get it done, y'all tell today, right and then
[2:00:29] Speaker 12: and we get one close enough that then we leave
[2:00:32] Speaker 12: the church and take the street again here and has
[2:00:36] Speaker 12: a low police protection. But but but how many of
[2:00:40] Speaker 12: you are would shot what Hannah said? And uh and
[2:00:45] Speaker 12: and revend my wife? She said something. We first came,
[2:00:47] Speaker 12: she said, stop the war saved line say that. And
[2:00:52] Speaker 12: then Hannah said something. She said, we ain't going nowhere.
[2:00:56] Speaker 12: She got to offer Grandma a little bit. But that's
[2:00:58] Speaker 12: that's some of them. We say that we ain't going,
[2:01:02] Speaker 12: we ain't going, we ain't going, We are not going in.
[2:01:10] Speaker 5: That's the way. That's the consequence is what you get
[2:01:14] Speaker 5: when you keep messing with folk and then find out.
[2:01:18] Speaker 12: I want y'all to look at the diversity that the
[2:01:20] Speaker 12: other victory. Look at this crowd out here. Look at
[2:01:24] Speaker 12: your family. Now, you didn't grow up with these folks.
[2:01:27] Speaker 12: They didn't come out the same wood womb. But look
[2:01:30] Speaker 12: at the diversity, the diversity, just look at it, you know.
[2:01:35] Speaker 12: And I want to close us this way. I'm gonna
[2:01:37] Speaker 12: ask a couple of ministers to lead to prayers and
[2:01:40] Speaker 12: go say, but what I want you to do for
[2:01:42] Speaker 12: jess sake, I want you to look around and find
[2:01:45] Speaker 12: somebody that you don't know, but you glad that they
[2:01:49] Speaker 12: are standing with you in this moment, and go grab them.
[2:01:52] Speaker 12: Let's go grab them, and may let's redo this circle.
[2:01:55] Speaker 12: Go find somebody you don't know, you don't know 'em
[2:01:58] Speaker 12: and meet them you don't know.
[2:02:03] Speaker 5: You can move around, just keep the circle.
[2:02:31] Speaker 12: I need about ten clergy that come in the inner circle,
[2:02:34] Speaker 12: black and white, episcop Pali and Christian, Methodist, Jewish.

[2:10:28] Speaker 61: It will go down to the history of the day
[2:10:30] Speaker 61: that several hundred if you took the streets doing Russia
[2:10:34] Speaker 61: in DC, and and God put it on the bishop's
[2:10:39] Speaker 61: spirit to say that a revival, a public theological revival
[2:10:45] Speaker 61: would begin out of this moment.
[2:10:49] Speaker 5: We got some work to do. Ah.
[2:10:54] Speaker 12: We've got eleven million names of poor and low wage
[2:10:58] Speaker 12: people that have been infrequent voters, and if just twenty
[2:11:03] Speaker 12: percent of their vote, it shifts everything. Yeah, if you
[2:11:07] Speaker 12: would be interested in helping to talk to them through
[2:11:11] Speaker 12: texts and others, you can go to uh, where's that stunt?
[2:11:14] Speaker 12: The number repairs of the breach and sign up three
[2:11:19] Speaker 12: two eight four six. Those you listening texted or go
[2:11:22] Speaker 12: to a breach repair text tomorrow.
[2:11:24] Speaker 10: To what three two eight four six.
[2:11:27] Speaker 12: Because we put legs on our prey. Yeah, yeah, And
[2:11:32] Speaker 12: now how many of y'all will come back one more time?
[2:11:35] Speaker 36: More time?
[2:11:36] Speaker 62: Come on, come on and bring some more folk one
[2:11:38] Speaker 62: more time and be ready for their armed bands one
[2:11:41] Speaker 62: more time, and they probably gonna do the same thing
[2:11:44] Speaker 62: one more time, but we gonna claim victory every time.
[2:11:48] Speaker 12: You don't like, I know, you had never heard of nobody,
[2:11:52] Speaker 12: take in the street, decide the White House and rush
[2:11:55] Speaker 12: hour and they not get arrest get them come on,
[2:11:58] Speaker 12: and instead they get protected by the very passon that
[2:12:01] Speaker 12: ought to be arrested them.
[2:12:02] Speaker 13: Somebody out to shout, he'll be allowed.
[2:12:08] Speaker 5: And that's a sign. And by the way, it never
[2:12:11] Speaker 5: rains on mal money. It never rains on mal money.
[2:12:15] Speaker 12: Say twenty thirteen, listen, we thank god for every one
[2:12:19] Speaker 12: of you cook up with that website. And let me
[2:12:22] Speaker 12: say this finally, for mad repent, let's give hand a tremendousness.
[2:12:28] Speaker 12: Never jocks Awaga, Alvin and Clinton and there needs some
[2:12:33] Speaker 12: other organizers, but we the parents are the big So one.
[2:12:37] Speaker 5: Thing you gonna get sure of.
[2:12:39] Speaker 12: We're not in the business of building up a bunch
[2:12:41] Speaker 12: of branches of reparents.
[2:12:43] Speaker 5: We are a training body.
[2:12:46] Speaker 12: What we do is when folks say they want to
[2:12:48] Speaker 12: engage in moral fusion, organize look at things through a moral.
[2:12:53] Speaker 5: Leans and what we do is come alongside and help
[2:12:57] Speaker 5: to do that.
[2:12:57] Speaker 12: We make that promise to you because we recognize it's
[2:13:02] Speaker 12: gonna take all of us, a remnant of all of us,
[2:13:09] Speaker 12: but that remnant will be in many ways the salvation
[2:13:15] Speaker 12: of this note, of this.
[2:13:16] Speaker 5: Nation, this democracy, and even from civilization. I said this
[2:13:20] Speaker 5: last world.
[2:13:20] Speaker 12: I got a call today from the president of the
[2:13:22] Speaker 12: World Council Churches, right, and he said in this letter
[2:13:28] Speaker 12: to us just before we came out here, that we
[2:13:31] Speaker 12: have sent this out all over the world.
[2:13:34] Speaker 5: We've got people tuning in. We're praying with you.
[2:13:37] Speaker 12: All over the world, and we want you to join
[2:13:40] Speaker 12: us in Berlin, in June to talk to the World
[2:13:46] Speaker 12: Council about how this kind of Morrow fusion must be
[2:13:50] Speaker 12: a part of challenging authoritarianism around the world. Naked you
[2:14:03] Speaker 12: on that, So your men, so thank God for every
[2:14:07] Speaker 12: one of you all, and we're gonna step out of
[2:14:10] Speaker 12: the streets because we've already today arrested the attention of
[2:14:16] Speaker 12: the nation.
[2:14:17] Speaker 5: Every We are not stopping. Hennay, you got anything else
[2:14:19] Speaker 5: you want to say?
[2:14:20] Speaker 13: Let's give thanks to Roberend Barbara.
[2:14:25] Speaker 5: Where was young folk that spoke today too, fomy go
[2:14:28] Speaker 5: It was Lily and the young I call from y'all,
[2:14:31] Speaker 5: y'all come up here.
[2:14:33] Speaker 13: Anybody under twenty five.
[2:14:34] Speaker 5: Come up here, I mean twenty nine. Yeah, talk about
[2:14:38] Speaker 5: twenty nine if you under.
[2:14:39] Speaker 4: Twenty all right, folks, Bishy William Barber there with his
[2:14:44] Speaker 4: closing comments with this. They started, of course here at
[2:14:47] Speaker 4: sixteenth in Age and then made their way to in
[2:14:50] Speaker 4: front of the White House. Gary Chambers from Louisiana jones
[2:14:53] Speaker 4: us right now and Gary, one of the things that
[2:14:57] Speaker 4: that we often talk about is the importance of of
[2:15:01] Speaker 4: staying at it. And so your her bishop to talk
[2:15:04] Speaker 4: about seven times they've had moral Mondays. This thing started
[2:15:08] Speaker 4: in North Carolina and those every single money and builds
[2:15:11] Speaker 4: it bills and a lot of people Gary often want
[2:15:14] Speaker 4: that one hit, They want that one dopamine hit. Thousands
[2:15:18] Speaker 4: of people there. But the only way we change this
[2:15:22] Speaker 4: is if we have consistent, consistent, consistent organization and mobilization
[2:15:28] Speaker 4: to get people out to vote.
[2:15:32] Speaker 56: Absolutely. You know, it is a full time job to
[2:15:36] Speaker 56: educate and inform the people. And if we want people
[2:15:39] Speaker 56: to stay engaged, you've got to continue to stay engaged
[2:15:41] Speaker 56: with people. Too often, you hear people say all the
[2:15:44] Speaker 56: time that people only show up when it's election season.
[2:15:46] Speaker 56: And so people like Reverend Barber have set the example
[2:15:49] Speaker 56: of what the standard should be in every community that
[2:15:51] Speaker 56: we are actively engaging people, that door knocking is a
[2:15:54] Speaker 56: consistent thing, that voter education, and because you can't mobilize.
[2:15:58] Speaker 5: A voter that you have in first educated.
[2:16:04] Speaker 4: Absolutely, and you know, I'm always talking about how we
[2:16:07] Speaker 4: have to educate, enlighten, and power and in form uh
[2:16:11] Speaker 4: and and what we're looking at as we as we speak,
[2:16:14] Speaker 4: we look at the how this Maga Supreme Court doing
[2:16:17] Speaker 4: doing the work of Republicans, allowing them to move forward
[2:16:21] Speaker 4: with these maps in Louisiana and Alabama and we see
[2:16:24] Speaker 4: what they did in Tennessee. They're about to go after
[2:16:26] Speaker 4: Collibor and see in South Carolina. And the only way,
[2:16:29] Speaker 4: the only way to counter this is if you have
[2:16:33] Speaker 4: a mass turnout. You have been reporting every single day
[2:16:37] Speaker 4: going on social media, reading those numbers. Uh and uh
[2:16:41] Speaker 4: and and and I saw you imploring people saying a
[2:16:44] Speaker 4: lot of those places where black folks are they got
[2:16:46] Speaker 4: to turnout.
[2:16:47] Speaker 6: Uh and Uh.
[2:16:49] Speaker 4: I heard it picked up over the picked up Uh
[2:16:51] Speaker 4: you know Friday and Saturday.
[2:16:53] Speaker 24: Uh.
[2:16:53] Speaker 4: But and we were just showing a lot through that
[2:16:55] Speaker 4: how many ballots have already been cast. But but this
[2:16:58] Speaker 4: is the moment, this is the moment that if you
[2:17:00] Speaker 4: you are black in Louisiana, this is an attack on you.
[2:17:03] Speaker 4: This is attack on black political power. This is them
[2:17:06] Speaker 4: saying we want to relegate black people to second class
[2:17:10] Speaker 4: citizenship in Louisiana. And the only way you stopped at
[2:17:13] Speaker 4: MAGA Governor Jeff Landry is you kick his as the
[2:17:16] Speaker 4: ballot box.
[2:17:18] Speaker 56: That's one hundred and ten percent right rowland And so
[2:17:21] Speaker 56: right now in the state of Louisiana on.
[2:17:24] Speaker 5: Saturday, there as an election.
[2:17:26] Speaker 56: Eight percent of black voters or nine percent of black
[2:17:29] Speaker 56: voters in the state of Louisiana went to early vote.
[2:17:31] Speaker 56: Eight percent of white voters in the state of Louisiana
[2:17:33] Speaker 56: went to early vote. So that tells you that there
[2:17:36] Speaker 56: are black people in the state of Louisiana that are
[2:17:38] Speaker 56: locked in and paying attention. In the early vote turnout,
[2:17:40] Speaker 56: black people made up thirty five percent of the early
[2:17:43] Speaker 56: vote turnout.
[2:17:44] Speaker 5: We want to see black people showing up.
[2:17:46] Speaker 56: At that level because we make up about thirty three
[2:17:48] Speaker 56: or thirty four percent of the turnout. So when you
[2:17:50] Speaker 56: see us showing up at the level in which we
[2:17:53] Speaker 56: represent in the population, that gives a higher probability that
[2:17:58] Speaker 56: black people and the issues that we care about, we'll
[2:18:00] Speaker 56: move forward on the ballot. These five constitutional members are
[2:18:03] Speaker 56: all bad for the people of Louisiana. Anything that Jeff
[2:18:06] Speaker 56: Landry is doing is clearly not a benefit to black people.
[2:18:09] Speaker 56: Anybody who gets on sixty minutes last night and says
[2:18:12] Speaker 56: that we are due equal rights but not extra rights.
[2:18:16] Speaker 5: He believes that we are getting extra rights to have
[2:18:18] Speaker 5: a fair representation.
[2:18:20] Speaker 56: And so if you want to send a message to
[2:18:21] Speaker 56: the governor, you send that message immediately. Right now, May sixteenth,
[2:18:25] Speaker 56: there's an election showing up at the ballot box and
[2:18:27] Speaker 56: killing this five constitutional members.
[2:18:29] Speaker 5: Ensures that he has a rough road to re election
[2:18:32] Speaker 5: in twenty twenty seven.
[2:18:36] Speaker 4: But you just said something in terms of when you
[2:18:38] Speaker 4: said thirty three to thirty five percent of the turnout.
[2:18:41] Speaker 4: But this is the thing that I keep saying. I'm
[2:18:44] Speaker 4: not just interested in thirty three third percent of turnout.
[2:18:47] Speaker 4: I want to see a higher intensity. The reality is
[2:18:50] Speaker 4: this here. If white voters stay here Gary, and if
[2:18:54] Speaker 4: Black folks are voting at seventy eighty eighty five percent
[2:18:58] Speaker 4: of our capacity, that means we actually will make up
[2:19:02] Speaker 4: a higher share of those folks who are turning out.
[2:19:06] Speaker 4: That's the difference. We can't get happy with fifty two
[2:19:10] Speaker 4: or fifty five or fifty seven percent. I keep saying
[2:19:14] Speaker 4: the minimum number of black turnout should be seventy percent
[2:19:17] Speaker 4: of eligible black voters hitting the polls.
[2:19:21] Speaker 5: You are absolutely right rolling right now.
[2:19:23] Speaker 56: In Cattle Parish, which is where Shreveport is. I'm looking
[2:19:26] Speaker 56: at these numbers in Cattle Paris, where Shreveport is, five thousand,
[2:19:31] Speaker 56: six hundred and six black people went to vote. There's
[2:19:33] Speaker 56: sixty six thousand black people on Saturday in Shreveport.
[2:19:36] Speaker 5: That can go early vote in Cattle Parish.
[2:19:39] Speaker 56: When you look at East van Rouge Paris, fourteen thousand,
[2:19:42] Speaker 56: eight hundred and sixty four black people went to go
[2:19:44] Speaker 56: early vote. There's one hundred and thirteen, nine hundred and
[2:19:47] Speaker 56: twenty black people in East band Rouge Parish that can
[2:19:49] Speaker 56: go early vote.
[2:19:51] Speaker 5: Cattle Paris one of the bullet points there.
[2:19:53] Speaker 56: Black voters out voted white voters by about sixty or
[2:19:57] Speaker 56: seventy votes in Cattle Paris. That is because US Black
[2:20:00] Speaker 56: people are now having a conversation with their friends and
[2:20:02] Speaker 56: family members and say, hey, did you go vote? If
[2:20:04] Speaker 56: I'm telling you that nine percent of black people in
[2:20:07] Speaker 56: the state of Louisiana went to go vote. For every
[2:20:09] Speaker 56: ten black people, you see, nine of them did not
[2:20:11] Speaker 56: go vote. So you should have a conversation with those
[2:20:13] Speaker 56: nine people and say how bad do you want it?
[2:20:15] Speaker 56: How much do they have to take from you before
[2:20:17] Speaker 56: you get off off your ass and do something about it.
[2:20:19] Speaker 56: And when you look at places like Jefferson Parish, for instance,
[2:20:22] Speaker 56: where four hundred and fifty black voters have gone to vote.
[2:20:25] Speaker 56: Sixty five thousand black people who live in the suburbs
[2:20:28] Speaker 56: of New Orleans have the opportunity to go early vote, how.
[2:20:31] Speaker 5: Bad do you want it or do you want out?
[2:20:33] Speaker 5: No pressa to continue to oppress.
[2:20:34] Speaker 4: You absolutely and listen, and we see Republicans who want
[2:20:42] Speaker 4: to get rid of the congressional seat there in Louisiana.
[2:20:46] Speaker 12: Nine.
[2:20:46] Speaker 4: Before I go to my panel with the questions for you, Gary,
[2:20:48] Speaker 4: these five constitutional amendments, tell everybody what they are, and
[2:20:52] Speaker 4: you say black fols should be voting. Know every single one.
[2:20:57] Speaker 56: So Constitutional Amendment number one is about public service employees.
[2:21:02] Speaker 5: About doing something with the Public Service Commission giving them
[2:21:05] Speaker 5: the ability to get rid of positions and jobs.
[2:21:08] Speaker 56: Are easily more easily targeted. People that are members are
[2:21:13] Speaker 56: employed by the government and public service positions the other
[2:21:17] Speaker 56: portions of the constitutional mements. Constitutional amend number two is
[2:21:22] Speaker 56: about East bad News parents attempting to have a new
[2:21:24] Speaker 56: school district in Saint George, which is the majority white
[2:21:28] Speaker 56: breakaway portion of East band News parents that started a
[2:21:31] Speaker 56: seventy percent white city. They caused the city of band
[2:21:35] Speaker 56: Roots to have a fifty million dollar budget deficit as
[2:21:37] Speaker 56: a result of them starting this city. And so if
[2:21:39] Speaker 56: they start this school district, we can anticipate losing five
[2:21:42] Speaker 56: schools as well as millions of dollars in investment in
[2:21:45] Speaker 56: job school district. Constitutional amend number three is about restructuring
[2:21:50] Speaker 56: education funds. They want to take money out of these
[2:21:52] Speaker 56: savings accounts and give teachers which have a stipend right now.
[2:21:56] Speaker 56: They want to make that stipend permanent, but they'll be
[2:21:58] Speaker 56: eliminating the savings account, which is a rainy day fund
[2:22:02] Speaker 56: that gives educators the ability to pay for retirements and
[2:22:04] Speaker 56: things of that nature. And it will change the way
[2:22:07] Speaker 56: that teachers go get their raisers. So instead of coming
[2:22:09] Speaker 56: to the state to get their pay raisers, they'll be
[2:22:11] Speaker 56: broken up to go to the sixty four parishes to
[2:22:13] Speaker 56: get their pay raisers. Constitutional Amendment number four is allows
[2:22:19] Speaker 56: local parishes to decide to reduce property taxes for businesses.
[2:22:23] Speaker 5: This will benefit businesses. So they want to give the ability.
[2:22:26] Speaker 56: To take the property tax of a company and reduce it,
[2:22:29] Speaker 56: but they're not reducing your property taxes. And the last
[2:22:31] Speaker 56: Constitutional Amendment Rolling is about increasing the age of those
[2:22:35] Speaker 56: that are on the judiciary, giving them the ability to run.
[2:22:38] Speaker 5: Until seventy five. I am a no on all five
[2:22:41] Speaker 5: constitutional amendments.
[2:22:42] Speaker 56: I'm not against having experienced judges, but at a certain
[2:22:45] Speaker 56: point we need to send those judges home.
[2:22:50] Speaker 4: And last point here. Now, the congressional races are not
[2:22:54] Speaker 4: on the ballot, but there are other elected positions that
[2:22:57] Speaker 4: are still on the sarities ballot. Correct, you have the.
[2:23:01] Speaker 56: US Senate race that is still on the ballot for
[2:23:04] Speaker 56: this Saturday. And so if you are an independent, you
[2:23:07] Speaker 56: have the ability to choose in the primary which side
[2:23:10] Speaker 56: you want to vote on, whether you want to vote
[2:23:12] Speaker 56: on the Republican side or the Democratic side to influence
[2:23:15] Speaker 56: those elections. And if you are a Democrat, you have
[2:23:17] Speaker 56: the opportunity to go vote for Jamie Davis, who is
[2:23:20] Speaker 56: running for the US Senate here in Louisiana.
[2:23:26] Speaker 4: Questions for my panel, Nicole, you're first.
[2:23:30] Speaker 26: So we know that unfortunately, young people sometimes don't show
[2:23:34] Speaker 26: up to vote.
[2:23:35] Speaker 52: Are you seeing excitement and passion from young black people
[2:23:38] Speaker 52: in Louisiana to show up for these elections?
[2:23:42] Speaker 56: So I just had a town hall a week ago,
[2:23:45] Speaker 56: and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of young
[2:23:47] Speaker 56: black men who showed up to be in the conversation
[2:23:50] Speaker 56: and be aware of what's going on.
[2:23:51] Speaker 5: Our young men in at.
[2:23:52] Speaker 56: Twenty showing up to the state Capitol on Friday as
[2:23:55] Speaker 56: well to have their voices be heard. Do I think
[2:23:58] Speaker 56: that we need to increase those numbers, but I do
[2:24:00] Speaker 56: think that young people are becoming aware of this situation.
[2:24:03] Speaker 5: The question for us with young people is what do
[2:24:05] Speaker 5: we do about it?
[2:24:06] Speaker 56: And I think that we ask those that have the
[2:24:08] Speaker 56: influence and the understanding of the strategic things that are
[2:24:11] Speaker 56: taking place have to be able to give a blueprint
[2:24:13] Speaker 56: in a direction, because having them show up is one part.
[2:24:16] Speaker 56: Having them be able to activate in ways out that
[2:24:18] Speaker 56: are meaningful as the next step.
[2:24:26] Speaker 4: THEMA good evening.
[2:24:30] Speaker 51: Gary, First and foremost, I just want to commend you
[2:24:32] Speaker 51: on all of the hard work that in dedication you
[2:24:36] Speaker 51: continue to pour into not only Louisiana, but the country
[2:24:40] Speaker 51: as a whole. I am a native of shree for Louisiana,
[2:24:43] Speaker 51: so I am proud every time I get to see
[2:24:46] Speaker 51: you put bell to as on these people.
[2:24:49] Speaker 10: But my question is, with the.
[2:24:52] Speaker 51: Younger generation and the older generation, how important is technology
[2:24:58] Speaker 51: being merged into grass roots efforts in order for us
[2:25:02] Speaker 51: to get the turnouts that is going to stop our
[2:25:07] Speaker 51: pressors from doing what they intended on doing when they
[2:25:11] Speaker 51: created Project twenty twenty five.
[2:25:16] Speaker 5: I think that what we have to our advantage is technology.
[2:25:21] Speaker 56: If doctor King and Malcolm X had all of the
[2:25:23] Speaker 56: tools that we have at their disposal fifty sixty years ago.
[2:25:28] Speaker 56: There's no telling how fast they could have transformed much
[2:25:31] Speaker 56: of the obstacles that they had against them.
[2:25:33] Speaker 5: I think even now, the ability for us to make
[2:25:36] Speaker 5: a conversation, a rapid conversation.
[2:25:39] Speaker 56: For the entire countries and even the world is to
[2:25:42] Speaker 56: the benefit of us using technology. I think we look
[2:25:45] Speaker 56: at history in a way where we say, oh, this
[2:25:47] Speaker 56: happened there, and they mobilized as quickly. I don't think
[2:25:50] Speaker 56: that those mobilizations happened as quickly. They took a lot
[2:25:52] Speaker 56: more time to plan. Today, because of technology, we're able
[2:25:55] Speaker 56: to communicate.
[2:25:56] Speaker 5: At a much faster pace.
[2:25:57] Speaker 56: We're able to be we're able to take the guardrails
[2:26:00] Speaker 56: off as well to be able to directly communicate with
[2:26:03] Speaker 56: people in a more effective way, which I think helps
[2:26:05] Speaker 56: younger and older people.
[2:26:07] Speaker 5: I was in my neighborhood the other day. Somebody was here.
[2:26:10] Speaker 56: Doing something on my car, and an older group was
[2:26:13] Speaker 56: doing some walking. The ladies were about eighty years old,
[2:26:16] Speaker 56: and they spoke. We said good afternoon and everything, and
[2:26:18] Speaker 56: they got a few steps away and the sister said
[2:26:20] Speaker 56: to me, oh, you're not on the internet today informing
[2:26:23] Speaker 56: us huh, I said, you know, I got to get
[2:26:25] Speaker 56: this taken care of. So that's an eighty year old
[2:26:26] Speaker 56: black woman that's on her walk that's also used in
[2:26:29] Speaker 56: social media and technology to get her information. And so
[2:26:32] Speaker 56: I think that we've got to make sure that we
[2:26:33] Speaker 56: don't just limit the people that we think are watching us.
[2:26:38] Speaker 56: We've got to make sure that we're putting the information
[2:26:40] Speaker 56: out there where everybody can pick it up, because you
[2:26:42] Speaker 56: don't know who's going to share it to help mobilize
[2:26:44] Speaker 56: more people for.
[2:26:44] Speaker 49: You on the Congo, Missus Shamers, thank you so much
[2:26:53] Speaker 49: for everything that you're doing. My question, we talked so
[2:26:56] Speaker 49: much about the black and white dynamics of this, but
[2:26:59] Speaker 49: given your on the groundwork that you're doing daily, not
[2:27:02] Speaker 49: just in Louisiana, but.
[2:27:03] Speaker 5: Just everything you know about going on in the country,
[2:27:05] Speaker 5: what are you seeing.
[2:27:06] Speaker 49: As it relates to non black and white communities, Latino communities,
[2:27:09] Speaker 49: Asian communities. Are you finding that they're also speaking up
[2:27:12] Speaker 49: now or have avoys been speaking up or are still
[2:27:14] Speaker 49: staying on the sidelines a bit?
[2:27:16] Speaker 5: What are you seeing?
[2:27:19] Speaker 56: You know, I think that there's a lot of excuse
[2:27:22] Speaker 56: making that happens for communities that are not black.
[2:27:25] Speaker 5: We get to allow them to have a lot of
[2:27:27] Speaker 5: debate about this.
[2:27:28] Speaker 56: But ice I think being on Hispanic communities and immigrants
[2:27:32] Speaker 56: communities have made them have an awakening of sorts. My
[2:27:36] Speaker 56: hope is that this awakening that they are having is
[2:27:40] Speaker 56: not short lived, that they can remember the sting of
[2:27:42] Speaker 56: what is taking place today, that they will understand that
[2:27:45] Speaker 56: this will be a recurring issue later on down the
[2:27:48] Speaker 56: line if you are realigned with these people in the future.
[2:27:51] Speaker 5: But people being.
[2:27:52] Speaker 56: Deported, folks that are business owners being impacted. There's a
[2:27:57] Speaker 56: lot of conservatives who own companies who have Hispanic employees
[2:28:02] Speaker 56: or immigrant employees that have come to this country that
[2:28:05] Speaker 56: are on work visas and some of them not on
[2:28:07] Speaker 56: work visas, who've been hemmed up by this immigration process
[2:28:10] Speaker 56: that I think has made many of those people look
[2:28:13] Speaker 56: at this process and say, maybe we should reconsider Jeff
[2:28:16] Speaker 56: Landry is not polling at thirty nine percent in.
[2:28:18] Speaker 5: Louisiana because black people alone don't like him.
[2:28:20] Speaker 56: He's polling at thirty nine percent in Louisiana because his
[2:28:23] Speaker 56: decisions are disagreeable to the average in Louisiana. Whether you're black, white,
[2:28:27] Speaker 56: Hispanic or any other demographic. You recognize when something's good,
[2:28:31] Speaker 56: and you also recognize when something's bad for everyone.
[2:28:37] Speaker 4: Gary, final question for you. I've been talking. We've been talking,
[2:28:39] Speaker 4: of course, about the importance of African Americans mobilog and organizing,
[2:28:45] Speaker 4: but what about what white folks in Louisiana. Are you
[2:28:47] Speaker 4: seeing efforts made by white folks to register white folks,
[2:28:53] Speaker 4: to get them to wake up and see what's going on?
[2:28:55] Speaker 4: Because the reality is a packt The policies of MAGA
[2:28:57] Speaker 4: Governor Jeff Landry are screwing over a bunch of white folks.
[2:29:01] Speaker 4: We see the attack on New Orleans constantly when New
[2:29:04] Speaker 4: Orleans frankly without New Orleans, Louisiana is truly a broke state,
[2:29:08] Speaker 4: just like Jackson in Mississippi as well. And so are
[2:29:11] Speaker 4: you seeing anything where white folks being you know, what
[2:29:15] Speaker 4: is what is the new mayor of New Orleans doing?
[2:29:17] Speaker 4: What is Mitch Landrew doing. What are white democrats or
[2:29:22] Speaker 4: white independence doing in Louisiana to counter this MAGA insurgency?
[2:29:30] Speaker 56: You know, Roland I was on a zoom last week
[2:29:33] Speaker 56: with Mitch Landru and that's the only person that I
[2:29:35] Speaker 56: can say currently that is a white Democrat that I've
[2:29:39] Speaker 56: seen that of his stature that's been out here. There's,
[2:29:42] Speaker 56: of course some state representatives that are in the legislature
[2:29:44] Speaker 56: that are white Democrats that are being vocal in standing up.
[2:29:48] Speaker 56: I do believe that the Mayor of New Orleans could
[2:29:50] Speaker 56: do a better job she is from what I have
[2:29:52] Speaker 56: seen done most of her communications on social media. I
[2:29:57] Speaker 56: haven't seen her do a whole lot of press conferences.
[2:29:59] Speaker 56: She has a huge, huge bully pool pit that she
[2:30:01] Speaker 56: could use to lean in on this issue. I think
[2:30:03] Speaker 56: she could do more than a social media video. I
[2:30:05] Speaker 56: think that she could be aggressively advocating on these issues
[2:30:08] Speaker 56: because it is impact. New Orleans has been a massive
[2:30:11] Speaker 56: target in the process of this by Jeff Landry and
[2:30:13] Speaker 56: his administration and the state legislature. But what has happened
[2:30:17] Speaker 56: is Republicans in the legislature have all of a sudden
[2:30:19] Speaker 56: become friendly with the Mayor's office in New Orleans because
[2:30:22] Speaker 56: the mayor's white.
[2:30:23] Speaker 5: Now, that is maybe to the benefit of some of
[2:30:26] Speaker 5: her plans, but is it to.
[2:30:27] Speaker 56: The benefit of black people in New Orleans If they
[2:30:29] Speaker 56: are constantly stripping away black people's ability to lead in
[2:30:33] Speaker 56: this state. There's a conversation that's happening rolling around football
[2:30:36] Speaker 56: and whether or not black players should continue to play
[2:30:38] Speaker 56: at these universities. Well, Calvin Duncan, whose seat was taken
[2:30:42] Speaker 56: away in New Orleans, got a law degree. So if
[2:30:44] Speaker 56: you're a football player at LSU, you're good enough to
[2:30:47] Speaker 56: run on the field, but you're not good enough to
[2:30:50] Speaker 56: run for office.
[2:30:50] Speaker 5: You're good enough to play and shoot a basketball, but.
[2:30:53] Speaker 56: You're not good enough to shoot your shot for a
[2:30:55] Speaker 56: congressional seat, because they're going to take away the seat
[2:30:58] Speaker 56: that gives the ability for black people to serve.
[2:31:00] Speaker 5: And so if we are not actively leaning in.
[2:31:03] Speaker 56: On LSU and on two Lane and these institutions and
[2:31:07] Speaker 56: even the streaming services that provide them ESPN and the
[2:31:11] Speaker 56: platforms that distribute the information to our communities, I think
[2:31:15] Speaker 56: that's where we got to lean this conversation in some ways,
[2:31:18] Speaker 56: because that's where mayors and business leaders and other white
[2:31:22] Speaker 56: people within the state of Louisiana that give a damn
[2:31:24] Speaker 56: about the money they make it.
[2:31:25] Speaker 5: So maybe we need to start touching in on some
[2:31:27] Speaker 5: of that money.
[2:31:31] Speaker 4: When is early voting over or what does it end?
[2:31:36] Speaker 5: Early voting is.
[2:31:37] Speaker 56: Over, Election Day is Saturday, so it's on us through
[2:31:39] Speaker 56: the next four or five days to communicate with everybody
[2:31:42] Speaker 56: as possible in this state to get them to get
[2:31:44] Speaker 56: off their ass to show up on Saturday.
[2:31:48] Speaker 4: Absolutely, What time the posts open on Saturday.
[2:31:52] Speaker 5: Seven am, Saturday morning.

[2:34:05] Speaker 64: Well Attorneys for Cole Allen, the suspect in the White
[2:34:07] Speaker 64: House correspond incident or shooting or seeking the recusal of
[2:34:11] Speaker 64: top Justice Department officials from direct involvement in the prosecution
[2:34:15] Speaker 64: because they could be considered victims or witnesses in the case,
[2:34:18] Speaker 64: creating a potential conflict of interest. Acting Attorney General Tom
[2:34:22] Speaker 64: Blanche and US Attorney Janine Piro were both in attendance
[2:34:25] Speaker 64: at the April twenty fifth event when Allan allegedly tried
[2:34:28] Speaker 64: to storm the ballroom at the Washington Hilton, and because
[2:34:31] Speaker 64: of this, Allen's attorneys argue that they should not be
[2:34:34] Speaker 64: making any prosecurial decisions in the case. Allan was reportedly
[2:34:39] Speaker 64: armed with a shotgun, a handgun in multiple knives.
[2:34:42] Speaker 26: He appeared in court.
[2:34:43] Speaker 64: This morning to enter a not guilty plea on all
[2:34:45] Speaker 64: four charges brought against him. These charges include attempting to
[2:34:49] Speaker 64: assassinate President Donald Trump, transporting firearms across state lines, discharging
[2:34:54] Speaker 64: a firearm during an act of violence, and assaulting law
[2:34:58] Speaker 64: enforcement officers.
[2:35:00] Speaker 5: Well.
[2:35:00] Speaker 64: Two black Mississippi men, Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker, are
[2:35:03] Speaker 64: suing Rankin County Supervisor Steve Gaines for defamation. They alleged
[2:35:07] Speaker 64: at Gaines publicly referred to them as rapists and drug addicts,
[2:35:10] Speaker 64: despite neither man having been charged or convicted of such crimes.
[2:35:14] Speaker 64: The complaint was filed on May six against Supervisor Steve
[2:35:17] Speaker 64: gains On, behalf of Jenkins and Parker. This lawsuit follows
[2:35:20] Speaker 64: the recent two point five million dollar settlement reached between
[2:35:23] Speaker 64: the ranking county Sheriff's apartment and the two men in
[2:35:25] Speaker 64: a police brutality case. Back in May of twenty twenty five,
[2:35:28] Speaker 64: Lidaudio revealed Gaines discussing the county settlements in that case,
[2:35:32] Speaker 64: and in the recording he could be heard saying that
[2:35:35] Speaker 64: the sheriff's attorney beat the plants off. Those guys, the dopers,
[2:35:38] Speaker 64: the people that rape and dope your daughters. He beat
[2:35:42] Speaker 64: their pants off. Jenkins and Parker argued that Gaines wrongfully
[2:35:46] Speaker 64: accused them of rape and drug offenses, framing them in
[2:35:49] Speaker 64: a highly offensive and false light, especially since the comments
[2:35:53] Speaker 64: were recorded and circulated by news outlets last year. Gaines
[2:35:57] Speaker 64: claimed that his comments were not aimed than anyone specific
[2:36:01] Speaker 64: and in twenty twenty three, Jenkins and Parker were subjected
[2:36:04] Speaker 64: to torture and beatings by a group of deputies in
[2:36:07] Speaker 64: a no knock braid. The lawsuit details horrifying series of
[2:36:11] Speaker 64: events that led to a brutal beating, sexual assault, and
[2:36:14] Speaker 64: significant damage to Jenkin's jaw after he was shot in
[2:36:17] Speaker 64: the mouth. In twenty twenty four, the six officers involved
[2:36:20] Speaker 64: in these actions they were sent to prison terms ranging
[2:36:24] Speaker 64: from fifteen to forty five years well. Google has settled
[2:36:28] Speaker 64: with black employees who alleged systemic racial disparities in hiring, pay,
[2:36:33] Speaker 64: and advancement. The lawsuit was filed in twenty twenty two
[2:36:36] Speaker 64: by April Curley, a former Google employee, who accused the
[2:36:39] Speaker 64: tuch giant of racial discrimination, claiming it follows a pattern
[2:36:42] Speaker 64: and practice of unfair treatment towards black workers. The lawsuits
[2:36:46] Speaker 64: stated that the company directly directed black employees into lower
[2:36:51] Speaker 64: level and lower paid positions and created a hostile work
[2:36:54] Speaker 64: environment for those who spoke out about their experience. Other
[2:36:58] Speaker 64: former Google employees joined the loss suit, which later gained
[2:37:01] Speaker 64: class action status. Google has reportedly settled the lawsuit for
[2:37:04] Speaker 64: fifty million dollars, which also includes measures of pay transparency.
[2:37:08] Speaker 64: The company asserts that the settlement does not constitute an
[2:37:12] Speaker 64: admission of liability. Former Sangamon County Sheriff's Deputy Shawn Grayson's
[2:37:17] Speaker 64: request for a sentence reduction has been denied.
[2:37:19] Speaker 10: In Illinois.
[2:37:21] Speaker 64: Grayson is currently serving a twenty year prison sentence for
[2:37:23] Speaker 64: the second degree murder of Sonia Massey, having received the
[2:37:26] Speaker 64: maximum penalty for the crime. On July sixth, twenty twenty four,
[2:37:30] Speaker 64: Grayson shot and killed Massey, claiming he felt threatened by
[2:37:34] Speaker 64: a pot of hot water she was holding when he
[2:37:36] Speaker 64: responded to her dime on one call about a possible prowler.
[2:37:39] Speaker 64: Prosecutors tried to secure a first degree murder conviction, which
[2:37:43] Speaker 64: could have resulted in a life sentence, but the Peoria
[2:37:46] Speaker 64: jury convictor Grayson of the lesser charge of second degree murder.
[2:37:49] Speaker 64: On Friday, Judge Ryan Canagan denied Grayson's murder motion for
[2:37:54] Speaker 64: a reduced murder sentence, a decision that Grayson's attorney has
[2:37:58] Speaker 64: indicated he will appeal. The body of a black American
[2:38:02] Speaker 64: soldier who went missing during a training exercise and Morocco
[2:38:05] Speaker 64: has been recovered. First Lieutenant Kendrick lamont Key, Junior's body
[2:38:09] Speaker 64: was found on Saturday. It was one of two US
[2:38:12] Speaker 64: service members who disappeared just over a week ago, and
[2:38:14] Speaker 64: the water is off Morocco's southern coast near the Capture
[2:38:17] Speaker 64: training area. Army officials are still searching for the second serviceman,
[2:38:21] Speaker 64: who has not yet been identified. Both service members were
[2:38:24] Speaker 64: participating an African Lion that's an annual training exercise. They
[2:38:28] Speaker 64: were part of a group that went on a height
[2:38:30] Speaker 64: to watch the sunset when one soldier, who was known
[2:38:33] Speaker 64: not to be able to swim, fell into the water.
[2:38:35] Speaker 64: Defense officials stated that the second missing soldier jumped in
[2:38:38] Speaker 64: an attempt to rescue him, but was then hit by
[2:38:41] Speaker 64: a wave. It remains unclear if Key was a soldier
[2:38:44] Speaker 64: who fell or the one who attempted to rescue. The
[2:38:47] Speaker 64: twenty seven year old was from Richmond, Virginia and served
[2:38:50] Speaker 64: as an Air Defense artillery officer. Iranian official claims that
[2:38:57] Speaker 64: Trump rejected a peace proposal that was reasonable generous, in
[2:39:01] Speaker 64: contrast to President Donald Trump describes it the proposal as
[2:39:04] Speaker 64: totally unacceptable. Iran's asserted that it made legitimate demands in
[2:39:08] Speaker 64: its latest formal response to the US peace proposal, but
[2:39:11] Speaker 64: this response to stalled negotiations in the war after Trump
[2:39:15] Speaker 64: rejected it. Foreign Ministry spokesperson emmacil by gay E stated
[2:39:20] Speaker 64: that Iran's demands including the war, lifting the US blockade,
[2:39:24] Speaker 64: and the release of assets belonging to Iranian people, which
[2:39:28] Speaker 64: have been unjustly trapped in form banks for years. On Monday,
[2:39:31] Speaker 64: the front pages in Iran, a nation governed by the
[2:39:34] Speaker 64: Islamic Republic, portrayed the possibility of resuming the war with
[2:39:38] Speaker 64: the US and Israel. The headlines emphasized military preparedness, including
[2:39:43] Speaker 64: warnings that Washington would pay a heavy price if fighting
[2:39:46] Speaker 64: were to resume, along with the firm insistence that Iran
[2:39:50] Speaker 64: would not capitulate under pressure.
[2:39:53] Speaker 3: Well.
[2:39:54] Speaker 64: Passengers from a cruise ship affected by a virus have
[2:39:57] Speaker 64: been flown back to their home countries for monitoring. Earlier today,
[2:40:01] Speaker 64: seventeen Americans on board the MVY Hondias arrived in the
[2:40:06] Speaker 64: United States. They first landed at an Air Force base
[2:40:09] Speaker 64: in Omaha, Nebraska, and were transferred to the National Quarantine
[2:40:13] Speaker 64: Center at the University of Nebraska. The cruise ship anchored
[2:40:16] Speaker 64: on Sunday near Tanerfee in Spain's Canary Islands. The passengers
[2:40:21] Speaker 64: were escorted off the vessel by personnel dressed in full
[2:40:24] Speaker 64: protective gear and breathing mask. The Centers for Disease Control
[2:40:28] Speaker 64: and Prevention has sent a team of medical professionals to
[2:40:31] Speaker 64: Spain to assess the risk of exposure for each American passenger.
[2:40:35] Speaker 64: So far, three individuals associated with.
[2:40:37] Speaker 5: The crews have died.
[2:40:39] Speaker 64: Six others have confirmed or suspected cases of the virus
[2:40:43] Speaker 64: remained in quarantine. Virginia native Destiny Spurlock has officially become
[2:40:48] Speaker 64: the first black woman to compete in one of NASCAR's
[2:40:51] Speaker 64: top three national series after making her NASCAR Craftsman Truck
[2:40:56] Speaker 64: Series debut this week at Watkins Glenn International That's in
[2:41:00] Speaker 64: New York. The thirty four year old Richmond native began
[2:41:03] Speaker 64: her career in motorcycle drag racing at just seventeen years
[2:41:06] Speaker 64: old before building a name for herself and the nhr
[2:41:09] Speaker 64: A Pro Stock motorcycle competition. SPURLOCKXA she fell in love
[2:41:13] Speaker 64: with racing as a child after riding motorcycles with her
[2:41:16] Speaker 64: parents and watching NASCAR races near Richmond International Raceway with
[2:41:20] Speaker 64: her grandparents. Earlier this year, she also made her ARK
[2:41:24] Speaker 64: the debut, finishing tenth at Kansas Speedway.
[2:41:28] Speaker 4: Brolin, All right, Brittany, thanks a much, folks. Don't forget
[2:41:33] Speaker 4: that you want to watch the Breakdown of Britain Noble
[2:41:35] Speaker 4: every day noon eastern right here in the Blackstart Network Again,
[2:41:37] Speaker 4: The Breakdown of Britain Noble our neon news show. Catch
[2:41:40] Speaker 4: it every day noon eastern right here on the Black
[2:41:42] Speaker 4: Start Network on a Congo Felma and Nicole. Earlier, we
[2:41:45] Speaker 4: were talking about these cases and now the Supreme Court
[2:41:49] Speaker 4: they vacated the second Milligan decision that's in Alabama and
[2:41:53] Speaker 4: remanaged it to the district court. Now here's what's crazy, Okay.
[2:41:57] Speaker 4: So in that ruling, in that ruling almost a couple
[2:41:59] Speaker 4: of weeks ago, they claimed that if there was intentional discrimination,
[2:42:04] Speaker 4: then they can still pursue that. Well, here's the problem.
[2:42:08] Speaker 4: The lower court actually said there was quote intentional discrimination claim.
[2:42:13] Speaker 4: They literally said it, and there was intentional discrimination Alabama.
[2:42:16] Speaker 4: But because of this Clay decision, the Supreme Court says, nah, sorry, uh,
[2:42:21] Speaker 4: we're just gonna go ahead and move out of the way.
[2:42:23] Speaker 4: So what the hell was that ruling? So they claimed
[2:42:26] Speaker 4: you can steal, Uh, you can still sue if there
[2:42:30] Speaker 4: was intentional discrimination the lower court said it was. They've
[2:42:34] Speaker 4: now said not, we're gonna move on. So they have
[2:42:37] Speaker 4: basically said the Vote Rights Act is essentially dead. That's
[2:42:41] Speaker 4: the second one they decided. Not only that, in Mississippi,
[2:42:45] Speaker 4: a federal judge had ordered Mississippi to redraw its state
[2:42:50] Speaker 4: Supreme Court map, finding it to be racial discriminatory. He
[2:42:54] Speaker 4: was going to call, uh call, it was going to
[2:42:57] Speaker 4: call for new elections in the fall. Guess what. The
[2:43:00] Speaker 4: Fifth Circuit has now vacated the judge's ruling as a
[2:43:04] Speaker 4: result of the Clay decision. Again, I thought, according to
[2:43:08] Speaker 4: Alito's opinion, if you can show intiltial discrimination, then you
[2:43:12] Speaker 4: can move forward. They don't even care about intentional discrimination
[2:43:15] Speaker 4: on the CONGO.
[2:43:19] Speaker 49: I mean, when you put it out there so simple,
[2:43:22] Speaker 49: it's just blatant, right they are. They are focused primarily
[2:43:26] Speaker 49: on just protecting the rights of white people who favor them.
[2:43:30] Speaker 49: So anything that is considered racist against white men, white
[2:43:33] Speaker 49: privileged wright men. Look at what they're doing with the
[2:43:35] Speaker 49: EEOC right in terms of you know, white men filing
[2:43:37] Speaker 49: these racial discrimination suits. That's their definition of racism.
[2:43:40] Speaker 5: Now. They don't look at anything relating to racism as
[2:43:43] Speaker 5: it relates.
[2:43:43] Speaker 49: I like, look at what Brett Kavanaugh did as it
[2:43:45] Speaker 49: relates to what we call the Kavanaugh search is with
[2:43:47] Speaker 49: people who are Latino said that it's okay to profile
[2:43:51] Speaker 49: them depending on where they look or how they look,
[2:43:54] Speaker 49: their accent, if they're outfid of A seven eleven.
[2:43:56] Speaker 5: Are home depot.
[2:43:57] Speaker 49: So they've made it comfortable, and they made it fine,
[2:44:00] Speaker 49: perfectly legal to discriminate against every other group except white
[2:44:04] Speaker 49: people and specifically white men. And the Supreme Court is
[2:44:07] Speaker 49: the primary representative of that right now in every single way,
[2:44:11] Speaker 49: shape or form. And when are people going to wake up?
[2:44:13] Speaker 49: We just saw what Reverend Barberak did, you know, with
[2:44:17] Speaker 49: his kine and with you know out there in those streets.
[2:44:20] Speaker 49: What are we doing, what do we doing to have
[2:44:23] Speaker 49: is back? What do we do want to have your
[2:44:24] Speaker 49: back roll? And what are we doing to have Gary
[2:44:26] Speaker 49: Chambers back in? And so many other people this Supreme Court,
[2:44:30] Speaker 49: they are blatant and they are flagrant in every single
[2:44:34] Speaker 49: thing that they're doing. And anybody who thought that there
[2:44:36] Speaker 49: was going to be some modicum of neutralities and modicum
[2:44:39] Speaker 49: of respect for the process as it relates to, you know,
[2:44:42] Speaker 49: creating our community where everybody keeping celebrated and not tolerated.
[2:44:45] Speaker 49: They are focused on removing the rights of non white
[2:44:48] Speaker 49: cisgendered men.
[2:44:49] Speaker 5: And this is what it looks like in real time,
[2:44:51] Speaker 5: and we are up. We got to get up to.
[2:44:53] Speaker 4: Fight this for real, Thelma. This is how pathetic these
[2:44:58] Speaker 4: people are this right wing Supreme Court. It's allowing allowing
[2:45:04] Speaker 4: Alabama Republicans to change their congressional map even though absentee
[2:45:09] Speaker 4: balloting has already started. But remember in Texas they said, oh,
[2:45:16] Speaker 4: in December, up, it's too it's it's too late to
[2:45:20] Speaker 4: do anything for the March primary. They roll in December that,
[2:45:26] Speaker 4: oh my goodness, it's too late to do anything about
[2:45:28] Speaker 4: Texas map for March it was three months away. For Alabama,
[2:45:32] Speaker 4: you're a one week away. Sure, go right ahead, Roland.
[2:45:39] Speaker 51: The amount of pressure, I just want to strangle this
[2:45:43] Speaker 51: nonsense because we used to be able to look to
[2:45:48] Speaker 51: the Supreme Court to be consistent.
[2:45:52] Speaker 10: In how they operate the rule of law.
[2:45:57] Speaker 51: This is the most erratic, dysfunctional, unethical, disgruntle freaking Supreme
[2:46:08] Speaker 51: Court that I've ever seen. And I ain't been here
[2:46:12] Speaker 51: that long, Okay, I ain't gonna tell me age. But
[2:46:16] Speaker 51: when we're looking at the fact that they want.
[2:46:20] Speaker 10: To cherry pick what matters, we know why. It's because
[2:46:25] Speaker 10: they are scared. They are scared.
[2:46:27] Speaker 51: They thought that the planet they had in place was
[2:46:30] Speaker 51: the plan that was going to lead them into their
[2:46:33] Speaker 51: victory for years and decades to come. But when people
[2:46:38] Speaker 51: woke up, and you don't want to wake up the people,
[2:46:40] Speaker 51: because when the people wake up, we wake shit up.
[2:46:44] Speaker 51: And for the Supreme Court to talk about the intent,
[2:46:50] Speaker 51: and when we know what intent means, it means you
[2:46:54] Speaker 51: show the actions of a person, the patterns of a person,
[2:46:57] Speaker 51: the words, the behaviors.
[2:46:59] Speaker 10: That is what it is.
[2:47:01] Speaker 51: So now they've even stripping what intent is and that's insane,
[2:47:06] Speaker 51: especially in the rule of law. I'm used to as
[2:47:10] Speaker 51: a former prosecutor being able to rely on the rule
[2:47:13] Speaker 51: of law. Now you're telling me intent don't mean what
[2:47:16] Speaker 51: intent mean? Do you know how dangerous that is for
[2:47:18] Speaker 51: courtrooms around this country? When you take individuals in a
[2:47:22] Speaker 51: court room, now they can say, what is the Prime Court?
[2:47:25] Speaker 51: They they don't even know what inten mean? How you
[2:47:27] Speaker 51: gonna tell me what intim me? That wasn't my intent.
[2:47:30] Speaker 51: So it is the most dysfunctional shit that I've ever seen.
[2:47:35] Speaker 51: And the fact that MAGA has come in like the
[2:47:41] Speaker 51: freaking hantavirus, it is insane.
[2:47:45] Speaker 10: I don't I don't even have words.
[2:47:54] Speaker 4: Nicole is simple. This right wing Supreme Court literally literally
[2:48:04] Speaker 4: overruled their own decision in Alabama. This Supreme Court ruled
[2:48:12] Speaker 4: that yes, Alabama discriminated against black people and ordered the
[2:48:17] Speaker 4: creation of a second district. Now they're allowing them to
[2:48:20] Speaker 4: get rid of that district. So they're overruled their own decisions. Look,
[2:48:23] Speaker 4: they're just doing whatever they want to and so, yes,
[2:48:26] Speaker 4: John Roberts can go to hell. This is an illegitimate court.
[2:48:30] Speaker 4: This is a partisan court. Leo Jeffries call them that.
[2:48:35] Speaker 4: And so, yeah, we don't listen. They want us to
[2:48:39] Speaker 4: respect them. How can we respect you when you can't
[2:48:42] Speaker 4: even respect your own precedent, your own decisions. And so
[2:48:47] Speaker 4: guess what, Chief Justice John Roberts and Sam Alito and
[2:48:51] Speaker 4: Clarence Thomas and Gorsic and Cavanaugh and Cony Barrett, all
[2:48:56] Speaker 4: of them could kiss our collective asses because what they're
[2:49:00] Speaker 4: doing is shameful and despicable and it is pathetic. And
[2:49:04] Speaker 4: I'm telling you to everybody who's watching and listening, the
[2:49:07] Speaker 4: only way this changes is if we turn out in
[2:49:10] Speaker 4: mass numbers, because these people are clearly are saying we
[2:49:15] Speaker 4: will do whatever the hell we want when we want it,
[2:49:18] Speaker 4: because we are the Supreme Court and can't anyone tell
[2:49:21] Speaker 4: us what to do.
[2:49:24] Speaker 52: At this point, the Supreme Court might as well just
[2:49:26] Speaker 52: say that they want to stop black people from voting
[2:49:28] Speaker 52: to because we all see it happening. If you can't
[2:49:30] Speaker 52: even rely on your own precedent, your own precedent to
[2:49:34] Speaker 52: make a decision, the evidence is clear, okay, and it's
[2:49:38] Speaker 52: a shame because black people built this country. We are
[2:49:41] Speaker 52: the reason why United States has so much economic power.
[2:49:45] Speaker 52: But they don't want us to have a voice, They
[2:49:46] Speaker 52: don't want us to have a vote, they don't want us.
[2:49:48] Speaker 26: To have anything.
[2:49:49] Speaker 52: This Supreme Court is almost as conservative as the dread
[2:49:53] Speaker 52: Scott Court, which said that black people weren't even humans.
[2:49:56] Speaker 52: That is where we are right now, and I need
[2:49:58] Speaker 52: people to wake up and realize they want us to
[2:50:01] Speaker 52: be exhausted and tired and put our heads in the sand,
[2:50:04] Speaker 52: but we are not going to do that. We're seeing
[2:50:06] Speaker 52: protests in DC, early voting numbers in Louisiana that are
[2:50:10] Speaker 52: looking good. So we need to keep showing up and
[2:50:12] Speaker 52: protesting and making our voices heard because we cannot let
[2:50:15] Speaker 52: this Supreme Court, if we can even call it that anymore,
[2:50:18] Speaker 52: get away with this mess.
[2:50:22] Speaker 4: I'm telling everybody right now, this is Mass's court, That's
[2:50:27] Speaker 4: what they are. And I everybody understand if you're black,
[2:50:30] Speaker 4: they don't give a damn about you, And so we
[2:50:33] Speaker 4: have got to check with every family member, every friend,
[2:50:36] Speaker 4: every church member. If a fraternity, brother sorority's sister Greek
[2:50:40] Speaker 4: non Greek, does not matter, because they have to feel
[2:50:44] Speaker 4: our wrath at the ballot box. And we have got
[2:50:47] Speaker 4: to hit them with everything that we've got in order
[2:50:50] Speaker 4: to show them that we're not going to take this
[2:50:52] Speaker 4: thing lying down. I wrote my book White Fear, How
[2:50:55] Speaker 4: the Browning of Americans making white folks lose their minds.
[2:50:57] Speaker 4: I predicted all of these things. I say this stuff
[2:51:00] Speaker 4: was coming down two thousand and nine. I said, we're
[2:51:03] Speaker 4: living in the age of white minority resistance. And people
[2:51:08] Speaker 4: told me I was crazy, and people said I was
[2:51:09] Speaker 4: making too much because everybody else was getting all excited about, Oh,
[2:51:12] Speaker 4: we're living in a post racial world. And I said, y'alla,
[2:51:15] Speaker 4: out of y'all damn minds, we're not living in a
[2:51:17] Speaker 4: post racial world. With the election of president of Barack Obama,
[2:51:21] Speaker 4: no that unleash these white folks. And they said, no,
[2:51:24] Speaker 4: hell no, we are not having this again. We're gonna
[2:51:27] Speaker 4: shut this down, and so we better understand what.
[2:51:30] Speaker 5: Is going on.
[2:51:32] Speaker 4: Nicole, thanksha lot, I'm a family. Thanks a lot on
[2:51:34] Speaker 4: the congo. Thanks a lot, folks. We've been out here
[2:51:36] Speaker 4: since five pm Eastern so for almost three hours covering
[2:51:41] Speaker 4: Bishop William Barber's moral Monday. Out here. It's a lot
[2:51:44] Speaker 4: going on, y'all. And listen, we're gonna be busy all
[2:51:47] Speaker 4: week covering all of these issues again. We'll be live
[2:51:50] Speaker 4: here in DC Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday, we're gonna be
[2:51:53] Speaker 4: in Connecticut talking about how you have the top rank
[2:51:58] Speaker 4: black charter school there, how are they denied opportunity to
[2:52:01] Speaker 4: expand with another school. So we'll be live and connected
[2:52:04] Speaker 4: on Thursday. Pull the graphic up please. We'll be live
[2:52:06] Speaker 4: there on Thursday and look forward to that with doctor
[2:52:09] Speaker 4: Steve Perry. We're gonna be again at Cross Street amme
[2:52:13] Speaker 4: Zion Church, Cross Street am e Zion Church. We want
[2:52:16] Speaker 4: to pack the crowd out there in Middletown. Then we're
[2:52:19] Speaker 4: gonna travel to Montgomery, Alabama the next day. We'll do
[2:52:21] Speaker 4: the show for Montgomery on Friday, because on Saturday we're
[2:52:25] Speaker 4: gonna be live. All Roads Lead to the South the
[2:52:27] Speaker 4: National Day of Action for Voting Rights. If you want
[2:52:30] Speaker 4: more information, go to All Roads Lead to Thesouth dot
[2:52:33] Speaker 4: com The event starts at one pm. One pm. We're
[2:52:39] Speaker 4: gonna be live at noon Central on that day now
[2:52:42] Speaker 4: at nine am nine am in Selma, they're gonna begin
[2:52:47] Speaker 4: with a faith prayer at the Edmond Pretice Bridge. We'll
[2:52:51] Speaker 4: be covering that live on the Blackstar Network. And then
[2:52:55] Speaker 4: at noon from Montgomery we'll be live there as well.
[2:52:58] Speaker 4: So lots of things as a crazy busy week. These
[2:53:01] Speaker 4: the crazy times, and we're committed to be on top
[2:53:04] Speaker 4: of all of this stuff like no one else. Folks,

[2:53:18] Speaker 4: That will then, of course we do that as a

[2:53:23] Speaker 4: fraid our expenses. Listen, we are hitting right now. You'll

[2:53:28] Speaker 4: staffers who were out here, and of course our studio
[2:53:31] Speaker 4: is two blocks away. But it's important for us to
[2:53:34] Speaker 4: cover this sort of be stuff because guess what, nobody
[2:53:38] Speaker 4: from mainstream media was out here. In fact, there were
[2:53:40] Speaker 4: no other black OneD media outlets out here as well,
[2:53:43] Speaker 4: and so we're going where even black on media is
[2:53:47] Speaker 4: not showing up. So your support is critical. If you
