[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on i sure will a good morning everybody you're
[0:06] Speaker 1: listening to the voice come on dig me now one
[0:10] Speaker 1: and only steve harvey i got a radio show real
[0:13] Speaker 1: grateful for that you know it's funny i remember when
[0:16] Speaker 1: i first started out in radio a lot of my
[0:19] Speaker 1: peers laughed at me some of it was being mean
[0:22] Speaker 1: spirited some of it was just you know mocking me
[0:25] Speaker 1: i'm used to stuff like that but um I had
[0:28] Speaker 1: as a special guest on my show, Joel Osteen. And
[0:32] Speaker 1: you know something, man, he he says something that was
[0:35] Speaker 1: I can't remember the scripture. I don't know exactly how
[0:37] Speaker 1: it were like we were having a long conversation. But
[0:40] Speaker 1: the gist of it was don't be upset with where
[0:43] Speaker 1: you are now and don't be upset with the small
[0:46] Speaker 1: things in your life. Be grateful for the small things
[0:49] Speaker 1: and the small position that you have right now because
[0:52] Speaker 1: you don't know where it's going. You don't know what
[0:54] Speaker 1: that's going to be one day. You don't know what
[0:56] Speaker 1: that's going to lead to. And that was very warming
[0:59] Speaker 1: to hear him say that. But it also reminded me
[1:02] Speaker 1: of when I started in radio, how small it was.
[1:05] Speaker 1: It reminded me of when I started in stand up
[1:08] Speaker 1: making twenty five dollars a show. It reminds me of
[1:12] Speaker 1: not having a home at a period in my life
[1:16] Speaker 1: and what God has allowed me to live in now.
[1:19] Speaker 1: So don't be distraught over your position now and don't be.
[1:25] Speaker 1: ungrateful or unappreciative for the things you have now, because
[1:28] Speaker 1: you don't know what that's going to grow into. And
[1:30] Speaker 1: that's really the gist of that I got from what
[1:32] Speaker 1: he was saying. I just wanted to share that with you,
[1:34] Speaker 1: that where you are now is so temporary because now,
[1:38] Speaker 1: like I've said before, now is a fleeting moment. Right
[1:42] Speaker 1: after you finish saying now, that moment that you claimed
[1:45] Speaker 1: as now, that's gone. So the where you are now,
[1:50] Speaker 1: is a very fleeting process. Now, you can change where
[1:53] Speaker 1: you are now, and you can change how you feel
[1:56] Speaker 1: about where you're at now, and you can change about
[1:59] Speaker 1: where you're going by simply changing your mind. It is
[2:04] Speaker 1: no different. I'm telling you, folks, the thing that I've
[2:07] Speaker 1: learned about successful people is not so much what they do.
[2:12] Speaker 1: It's not what they have. The biggest thing I've learned
[2:15] Speaker 1: about successful people is how they think. That's the thing
[2:20] Speaker 1: that's different. It's how they think. And I'm telling you
[2:25] Speaker 1: that you can change the way you think on any
[2:28] Speaker 1: subject and start becoming successful towards that starting now. You
[2:34] Speaker 1: have to understand that, man. The biggest difference I've noticed
[2:38] Speaker 1: between successful people and non-successful people is how they think.
[2:44] Speaker 1: I was reading What Is God? said that he was
[2:48] Speaker 1: taught all wrong about money. He said that his father
[2:51] Speaker 1: was very negative about money. All throughout his life, he
[2:55] Speaker 1: heard his father say, you know, people who got money
[2:58] Speaker 1: have walked on somebody to get it or cheated somebody
[3:01] Speaker 1: to get it. People who have money, money is the
[3:03] Speaker 1: root of all evil. Money is this. And people who
[3:07] Speaker 1: got money, you know, don't deserve it. They've done something
[3:11] Speaker 1: wrong to get it. So he said he grew up
[3:13] Speaker 1: the whole time. thinking that having money was something was
[3:16] Speaker 1: wrong with that. He discovered that it wasn't. Look, you
[3:21] Speaker 1: can choose to be successful any way you want to.
[3:23] Speaker 1: I've chosen several ways to be successful. I want to
[3:26] Speaker 1: be a very, very successful father. I think that's one
[3:29] Speaker 1: of the things that's paramount in my life, that I
[3:32] Speaker 1: really am working hard right now to become a successful father.
[3:38] Speaker 1: Not a successful father in terms of money, but a
[3:41] Speaker 1: successful father in terms of offering the amount of love
[3:46] Speaker 1: and guidance and leadership and the example that my children
[3:50] Speaker 1: need to look at. That's what I'm really, really working
[3:53] Speaker 1: hard at now. I want to be successful as a father,
[3:55] Speaker 1: but also I want to be successful as a husband.
[3:59] Speaker 1: You know, I want Marjorie to always know that she
[4:01] Speaker 1: can count on me, to not have to wonder about
[4:04] Speaker 1: me or look for me. You know, I want her
[4:07] Speaker 1: to feel secure in the fact that I really have
[4:11] Speaker 1: gotten it right. that I really am focused on being
[4:15] Speaker 1: a good husband to her because it means so much
[4:17] Speaker 1: to me. You know, so I'm working hard on a
[4:20] Speaker 1: lot of levels. I'm working hard. I'm trying very strong
[4:24] Speaker 1: to be a successful motivator of people. I want to
[4:27] Speaker 1: be a sharer of information to people that will uplift
[4:30] Speaker 1: others and give others the same things that I've learned
[4:34] Speaker 1: through the trials and tribulations of my life. But at
[4:37] Speaker 1: the same time, share that information and use the power
[4:41] Speaker 1: of this microphone To uplift people, you know, not to destroy.
[4:45] Speaker 1: My show is not about, oh, guess what so-and-so said,
[4:47] Speaker 1: guess what so-and-so did. I don't like mean-spirited things about people,
[4:51] Speaker 1: you know. I joke with people who call in, that's
[4:53] Speaker 1: another thing. But I don't like destroying people with the
[4:56] Speaker 1: power of the microphone. So I'm working very hard on
[4:59] Speaker 1: being successful in a lot of areas of my life. Now, also,
[5:02] Speaker 1: I do care about being financially successful, too. because my father,
[5:06] Speaker 1: one of the gifts he gave me was very simple gift.
[5:09] Speaker 1: He told me a long time ago, he says, son,
[5:12] Speaker 1: the best thing you can do for poor people is
[5:14] Speaker 1: not be one of them. And that stuck with me.
[5:18] Speaker 1: And this was a hardworking man who was a coal
[5:20] Speaker 1: miner who worked construction his entire life. My father didn't
[5:25] Speaker 1: have an easy life, man. My father didn't sit behind
[5:28] Speaker 1: a microphone. My father didn't come to work and people
[5:31] Speaker 1: cheered for him. My father wasn't famous. My father, was
[5:35] Speaker 1: just a go get it, dude. He instilled that in me,
[5:39] Speaker 1: and I've taken that and applied it to my craft,
[5:41] Speaker 1: and I thank God for him for that. But I
[5:43] Speaker 1: do try to be financially successful so that I can
[5:47] Speaker 1: do some things with it to help some other people. Now,
[5:49] Speaker 1: am I opposed to having nice things? No. Do I
[5:53] Speaker 1: apologize for having nice things? No. And why should I?
[5:56] Speaker 1: I work. I work. I'm not on the radio asking
[6:01] Speaker 1: to give me money so I can go buy a
[6:04] Speaker 1: car I'm not I'm working. So I don't feel how
[6:07] Speaker 1: you want to feel. And other people do feel that
[6:09] Speaker 1: way about it. But if success in terms of finance
[6:13] Speaker 1: is what you're lacking, you can go about the business
[6:16] Speaker 1: of doing that. I'm writing a book and that whole
[6:18] Speaker 1: book is about teaching people how to become successful. And, man,
[6:23] Speaker 1: I'm breaking it down in a way where everybody can
[6:26] Speaker 1: get it, man, because I want the college student to
[6:28] Speaker 1: get it. You know, I want the working mom to
[6:31] Speaker 1: get it, the single mom to get it. The hardworking
[6:34] Speaker 1: father that's been trying to hold his family together can
[6:37] Speaker 1: get it. The father that ain't ever got it together
[6:40] Speaker 1: and feel that because of that reason, he can't be
[6:42] Speaker 1: the father he needs to be. I'm writing something, man,
[6:46] Speaker 1: to put it into words, to let you know that
[6:48] Speaker 1: God is a forgiving God and that God is a
[6:51] Speaker 1: merciful God and that God can get you out of
[6:55] Speaker 1: any situation you find yourself in. You just can't beat
[6:59] Speaker 1: yourself up every time you make a mistake. I make
[7:01] Speaker 1: mistakes all the time, man. I just got to remind
[7:04] Speaker 1: myself to get up. I ask God for forgiveness. I
[7:07] Speaker 1: call on his mercy and his grace and I get
[7:10] Speaker 1: up and I go again. But it's coming, man. And
[7:13] Speaker 1: if finance success is what you want, you got to
[7:15] Speaker 1: change your mind. You got to start thinking about how
[7:19] Speaker 1: to produce it. The first thing you do is you
[7:21] Speaker 1: got to ask. You got to ask to have a
[7:24] Speaker 1: life and have a life more abundantly. That's a scripture.
[7:29] Speaker 1: That he comes to you to give you life and
[7:31] Speaker 1: to give you life more abundantly. That's the scripture. That
[7:35] Speaker 1: ain't a joke. That ain't a theory. That's a fact.
[7:38] Speaker 1: And the fact that if you don't have a life
[7:40] Speaker 1: of abundance, you can get that by asking. Then it
[7:43] Speaker 1: starts by believing. And the how to don't even worry
[7:46] Speaker 1: about that. He takes care of that himself. He'll send
[7:48] Speaker 1: the stuff your way. But you got to be willing
[7:51] Speaker 1: to put some effort in this thing now. And you
[7:53] Speaker 1: can do it. Okay. I know I was a little
[7:55] Speaker 1: around the place today, but that's what it was. So,
[7:57] Speaker 1: you know, let's go get it. You're listening to the
[8:00] Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show.
