[0:00] Speaker 1: All right, here we are, guys, our last break of
[0:03] Speaker 1: the day. It's been a great day. Thank you guys
[0:08] Speaker 1: for listening, as always. We appreciate it. Yeah, Junior, you
[0:11] Speaker 1: got a question for Steve?
[0:12] Speaker 2: Yeah. How do you.
[0:14] Speaker 3: Feel about people who make excuses for failures? How do
[0:18] Speaker 3: you feel about that?
[0:21] Speaker 2: When they make excuses for failures?
[0:23] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[0:24] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, you know, like, it didn't work out for
[0:26] Speaker 3: me because, you know, I ain't do it this way.
[0:28] Speaker 3: I'll get it next time. You know, I'll try it again.
[0:32] Speaker 3: You know, they just keep making excuses for failures.
[0:35] Speaker 2: And excuses, period.
[0:37] Speaker 4: You know, I think everybody around me knows this, especially
[0:41] Speaker 4: people who work with me and people who work for me.
[0:46] Speaker 4: I think they all understand this. Steve Harvey does not
[0:50] Speaker 4: do excuses. The thing about an excuse... An excuse is
[0:56] Speaker 4: only good for the person that's providing it.
[1:00] Speaker 2: It does nothing for the recipient of the excuse.
[1:05] Speaker 4: It only provides a cushiony out or an explanation as
[1:11] Speaker 4: to why something didn't happen as said.
[1:15] Speaker 2: Or promised or committed to.
[1:18] Speaker 4: And that gives you a cushy out that you didn't
[1:21] Speaker 4: accomplish the task or you didn't follow through.
[1:24] Speaker 2: It does nothing.
[1:26] Speaker 4: An excuse does nothing for the person that's receiving it.
[1:30] Speaker 4: Because all I know is now, the thing that I've
[1:33] Speaker 4: been counting on, I've been waiting on you to get
[1:36] Speaker 4: here with it. When you get here, it ain't there.
[1:39] Speaker 4: It happens in every aspect of life. I had a
[1:42] Speaker 4: guy while I was at work was supposed to fix
[1:45] Speaker 4: my TV.
[1:47] Speaker 2: I came home. I'm ready, man. Been working all day.
[1:50] Speaker 2: Cut my TV on. Bam, it don't work. I called
[1:54] Speaker 2: this guy. He said, oh, yeah, Mr.
[1:58] Speaker 4: Harvey, I came by, but I had left a certain
[2:03] Speaker 4: tool that I needed, so I'm going to get to
[2:05] Speaker 4: it tomorrow. See, that excuse that he gave me as
[2:09] Speaker 4: to why my TV wasn't working, it didn't do nothing
[2:11] Speaker 4: for me. It created a reason why he didn't complete
[2:16] Speaker 4: the task. Now, I'm sitting here going, why don't you
[2:19] Speaker 4: bring all the tools you needed, Why didn't you go
[2:21] Speaker 4: back and get the tool and come back and fix
[2:23] Speaker 4: my TV? Both of them would have solved the problem.
[2:27] Speaker 4: But that would have been something extra he had to do.
[2:31] Speaker 4: So people who work with me or around me know
[2:35] Speaker 4: I don't do excuses. I don't do excuses. Because when
[2:40] Speaker 4: your paycheck is due, I don't call you at one.
[2:43] Speaker 4: I don't call nobody work for me and say, hey, man, listen,
[2:48] Speaker 4: you know, uh, You know that thing you was expecting?
[2:51] Speaker 4: You know that check you was supposed to get twice
[2:55] Speaker 4: a month? You ain't going to believe this, man. I
[2:58] Speaker 4: didn't fill out the paperwork, and now it's going to
[3:03] Speaker 4: be 10 days before y'all get paid.
[3:06] Speaker 3: What?
[3:07] Speaker 2: Wait a minute, man.
[3:08] Speaker 4: Because the average person, man, they need that check on
[3:11] Speaker 4: the day that it's supposed to be there.
[3:13] Speaker 2: They need it.
[3:14] Speaker 4: Now, I done gave them an excuse. Now, I'm going, man,
[3:17] Speaker 4: but my excuse is, It does only something for me.
[3:20] Speaker 4: It does nothing for them. So I don't use excuses,
[3:25] Speaker 4: and I don't allow for excuses because I don't give
[3:27] Speaker 4: nobody none. If I'm going to be late, I usually
[3:30] Speaker 4: tell you. I'll be a little late. I'll let you know.
[3:35] Speaker 4: But I don't know, Junior. I get frustrated, man, because excuses,
[3:41] Speaker 4: that's one of my pet peeves in life. I just
[3:43] Speaker 4: don't like them, man. Because I know that all that
[3:46] Speaker 4: means is you didn't accomplish the task. And why you didn't,
[3:49] Speaker 4: I don't care.
[3:50] Speaker 2: I really don't. I really don't.
[3:52] Speaker 4: Because what you finna tell me ain't gonna fix nothing
[3:55] Speaker 4: I need. What I needed for you to do was
[3:57] Speaker 4: what you said you was gonna do. That's what I needed.
[4:00] Speaker 4: I'm not an excuse person. You know, I just don't.
[4:05] Speaker 4: I'm just not, man. I mean, look, have you had
[4:08] Speaker 4: to give some people some excuses in your life?
[4:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, I have too.
[4:13] Speaker 4: But after I learned After I learned from them how
[4:16] Speaker 4: it made them feel, I stopped doing it. I don't
[4:19] Speaker 4: have excuses. Here's all you have to do to eliminate excuses.
[4:25] Speaker 4: Do what you say you're going to do. If you
[4:31] Speaker 4: do that, you ain't got no more excuses. Hey, man,
[4:35] Speaker 4: I'm going to pick you up at 2 o'clock. Man,
[4:38] Speaker 4: I had a flat tire, man. I'm going to get
[4:42] Speaker 4: to you by 2 o'clock some kind of way. And
[4:45] Speaker 4: if you can eliminate excuses, you will gain a lot
[4:50] Speaker 4: of trust and favor in all your relationships.
[4:56] Speaker 2: If you always tell your woman, hey, baby, I'm going.
[4:58] Speaker 4: To pick you up at 7 and 8 o'clock, she's
[5:01] Speaker 4: still looking for you. How do you think that's going
[5:03] Speaker 4: to work out if you keep doing that? How do
[5:06] Speaker 4: you think that works out? How do you think it
[5:09] Speaker 4: works out if you get a new job and you're
[5:10] Speaker 4: on probation for 90 days and you're supposed to be
[5:13] Speaker 4: there at 9 and you keep getting there at 9.15?
[5:16] Speaker 2: How do you think that's going to work out for you?
[5:20] Speaker 4: So, man, the best way to eliminate excuses is just
[5:23] Speaker 4: do what you say.
[5:23] Speaker 2: You're going to do. If I tell y'all I'm not
[5:26] Speaker 2: going to do something, Shirley?
[5:30] Speaker 1: No, sir, you will not.
[5:32] Speaker 2: Carla?
[5:33] Speaker 3: Nope.
[5:35] Speaker 2: Now, if I tell you I'm going to do something Yes.
[5:39] Speaker 2: You do it. You can really count on it. Yeah.
[5:41] Speaker 1: Yep.
[5:42] Speaker 4: I am reliable and dependable, and my father raised me
[5:46] Speaker 4: to be that way. Man, my father would tell me
[5:49] Speaker 4: to do something, and I would start with an excuse
[5:52] Speaker 4: out of his mouth. Man, I don't want to hear
[5:54] Speaker 4: that BS. And he didn't do abbreviations.
[6:02] Speaker 2: Ha, ha, ha. He said the whole word.
[6:06] Speaker 4: I mean, as soon as I say why I ain't
[6:07] Speaker 4: do it, he said, man, I don't want to hear
[6:09] Speaker 4: that BS. I bet you better get over there and
[6:11] Speaker 4: get it done. And then, now I got to turn
[6:13] Speaker 4: around and go get it. So I learned real quick,
[6:17] Speaker 4: don't go in here to slick Harvey with any excuse
[6:20] Speaker 4: because he's not going to have it. Y'all have a
[6:22] Speaker 4: great day today, man. Talk to God today. He would
[6:25] Speaker 4: absolutely love for you, love to hear from you.
[6:27] Speaker 2: And you know what? Don't make any excuses.
