[0:00] Speaker 1: Here we are, guys. Last break of the day. Wow.
[0:04] Speaker 2: Thank you to our Steve Harvey Nation as always. You know, Steve,
[0:07] Speaker 2: we got Dolly from Pittsburgh who wanted to ask you
[0:10] Speaker 2: a question, wanted to say something.
[0:13] Speaker 3: Hey, this is Dolly from Pittsburgh. And I just want
[0:15] Speaker 3: to say y'all be putting too much emphasis on Steve
[0:19] Speaker 3: being rich as a reason why he doesn't know how
[0:22] Speaker 3: to wash or clean. He was not always rich. And
[0:27] Speaker 3: so if he wasn't taught to wash clothes as a
[0:30] Speaker 3: young boy, as a young man, then rich or not.
[0:33] Speaker 3: that's what he's going to be like when he grows up.
[0:37] Speaker 3: If he wasn't taught to clean up after himself, or
[0:39] Speaker 3: if he never took on to the teaching of cleaning
[0:42] Speaker 3: up after himself, then that's what he's going to do.
[0:45] Speaker 3: That's the same way he's going to be rich or poor.
[0:49] Speaker 3: He is who he is.
[0:51] Speaker 4: That's interesting. Well, you know, Dolly, I appreciate you saying that.
[0:57] Speaker 4: I was taught to clean up after myself.
[1:00] Speaker 5: I had to. I had to make the bed, all
[1:02] Speaker 5: that stuff. do dishes. I had to sweep down the stubs.
[1:06] Speaker 1: Then you got rich.
[1:09] Speaker 4: That was a conscious decision. I'm not ever doing this
[1:12] Speaker 4: no more. Now, washing clothes now, I've been to laundromats
[1:25] Speaker 4: and stuff like that. The stuff that's in our house now,
[1:30] Speaker 4: I don't know how.
[1:30] Speaker 5: To work it. I can't.
[1:32] Speaker 1: Oh, that's your excuse.
[1:35] Speaker 5: You can go on YouTube.
[1:37] Speaker 1: The University of YouTube.
[1:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, you can look up anything on YouTube and give
[1:43] Speaker 2: me instructions and show you how to use your equipment.
[1:46] Speaker 5: Why would I be in there? This is too much
[1:49] Speaker 5: for him. Why would he?
[1:53] Speaker 1: But was Dolly having your back, though?
[1:55] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dolly was really having my back.
[1:58] Speaker 4: I like Dolly. Dolly, my girl. Thank you, Dolly, for
[2:01] Speaker 4: defending me. Um, I didn't, I grew up having to
[2:05] Speaker 4: take care, you know, do stuff. I knew how to
[2:07] Speaker 4: do chores and stuff, but we had them. I just,
[2:11] Speaker 4: when I got well off, I don't do them no
[2:14] Speaker 4: more and they have changed and I don't know how
[2:16] Speaker 4: to do them. Like when I see commercials on TV,
[2:19] Speaker 4: I be wondering what they talking about. You ever like
[2:20] Speaker 4: them Swifter commercial where you change the head on the mop.
[2:23] Speaker 5: And all that. Who doing that?
[2:25] Speaker 3: Yes.
[2:25] Speaker 1: And I love Swiffer. I use it all the time.
[2:29] Speaker 5: Who is doing that?
[2:31] Speaker 3: Me.
[2:31] Speaker 5: Sliding in me. Dust cover on it. What is it?
[2:33] Speaker 3: Yes.
[2:34] Speaker 4: Yes.
[2:36] Speaker 1: You don't even know how much a loaf of bread costs.
[2:39] Speaker 5: None of that. Yeah.
[2:40] Speaker 4: A loaf of bread. Oh, hey, man. But I haven't
[2:44] Speaker 4: been to the grocery store in years.
[2:46] Speaker 5: You know.
[2:49] Speaker 4: And whatever it costs, I'm going to put it in
[2:50] Speaker 4: a cart anyway.
[2:51] Speaker 5: What are we talking about?
[2:55] Speaker 1: Because you need it.
[2:56] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to put it in the cart.
[2:59] Speaker 4: But the reason I fight so hard for like voting
[3:01] Speaker 4: for this midterm is because I know everyday people who
[3:05] Speaker 4: are not privileged, they have to figure things out.
[3:08] Speaker 1: That's right.
[3:09] Speaker 5: That I don't even have to consider anymore.
[3:11] Speaker 4: And so my fight is for the common man, not
[3:14] Speaker 4: for me. You know, the gas prices for me, they high.
[3:18] Speaker 4: But I'm going to fill it up. So whatever, whatever
[3:22] Speaker 4: it costs. But for for everyday people, that's not a
[3:26] Speaker 4: man that's cutting into eating. That's cutting into school activities.
[3:32] Speaker 4: That's cutting it. That's cutting into some real life stuff.
[3:35] Speaker 2: And that's the difference, Steve, between you and how you
[3:38] Speaker 2: were raised. You care about the common man. This person
[3:42] Speaker 2: we have in the White House knows nothing. I mean,
[3:45] Speaker 2: he was rich. He grew up rich.
[3:47] Speaker 1: He doesn't know anything about us.
[3:51] Speaker 5: And I've been the common man.
[3:53] Speaker 1: Yeah. You were raised without for a very long time.
[3:57] Speaker 5: And I have a common man mentality.
[3:59] Speaker 4: But more than that, I have a heart for people. Exactly.
[4:02] Speaker 3: Exactly.
[4:03] Speaker 4: You know, man, I just I just resonate with people, man,
[4:05] Speaker 4: when they're out there on that struggle, because I was
[4:08] Speaker 4: I've been on the struggle. I know what that is.
[4:10] Speaker 4: I want people to be able to do better, to
[4:14] Speaker 4: create an option. That's the tough part about being successful
[4:19] Speaker 4: is people think that you don't have an awareness of
[4:25] Speaker 4: what it is to be without.
[4:27] Speaker 1: No.
[4:27] Speaker 2: Oh, he changed.
[4:29] Speaker 4: What you don't know is you don't have the awareness
[4:31] Speaker 4: of what I had to do to get to this point.
[4:35] Speaker 1: The sacrifice.
[4:35] Speaker 5: The journey. If you only knew.
[4:39] Speaker 4: But for a lot of people, not all, but for
[4:41] Speaker 4: a lot of people, everybody wants to be successful.
[4:45] Speaker 5: But when you get the invoice, wait a minute, what?
[4:51] Speaker 5: What you got to do. I got to do what now?
[4:54] Speaker 4: Yes.
[4:54] Speaker 5: Hold on. I ain't going to be able to sleep
[4:57] Speaker 5: all the time. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I got to leave.
[5:00] Speaker 5: I got to travel. I got to pack. Wait a minute.
[5:04] Speaker 5: Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
[5:06] Speaker 4: I'm going to have to give up some things I
[5:07] Speaker 4: really enjoy doing. The only time I can watch TV
[5:12] Speaker 4: like that is when I'm on vacation.
[5:14] Speaker 5: Because you were into Beauty in Black.
[5:16] Speaker 1: And me and my girl.
[5:17] Speaker 5: Sit down and we binge watch stuff. You know.
[5:22] Speaker 4: Or if I get a dark week on TV or something.
[5:26] Speaker 4: But that's really it. You lose all of that, man,
[5:30] Speaker 4: in your sacrifice to make it. And to make it,
[5:33] Speaker 4: you have to be willing to sacrifice. A lot of
[5:36] Speaker 4: people don't want to pay the sacrifice.
[5:38] Speaker 2: And you have to be disciplined, right, and consistent with
[5:41] Speaker 2: all of that.
[5:42] Speaker 5: It's really, really hard, man.
[5:45] Speaker 1: And no guarantees.
[5:47] Speaker 5: There are no guarantees. There are no guarantees. That's the fear.
[5:51] Speaker 5: There's no guarantees. But there is one guarantee, though. What?
[5:57] Speaker 4: That if you quit, you will never ever see if
[6:02] Speaker 4: you could have been successful.
[6:04] Speaker 5: That's the one guarantee. I enjoy that. We should talk
[6:08] Speaker 5: about this more tomorrow. That motivates you.
[6:13] Speaker 2: Take us home.
[6:14] Speaker 4: Hey, y'all have a great day today. Talk to God today.
[6:18] Speaker 4: He would absolutely love to hear from you. And he
[6:21] Speaker 4: ain't going to be mad at you because you ain't
[6:22] Speaker 4: talked to him in a while.
[6:23] Speaker 5: He ain't that type of guy. All right?
[6:30] Speaker 3: Have a good one.
