[0:00] Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are. Our last break of
[0:02] Speaker 1: the day. We have to, as always, say thank you
[0:05] Speaker 1: to our Steve Harvey Nation for just riding with us
[0:08] Speaker 1: every single day. We appreciate you. Now, Steve, we have
[0:12] Speaker 1: something really special for you. OK, something special. We have
[0:16] Speaker 1: a special note from a woman you met years ago.
[0:20] Speaker 1: And she said you changed her life with the advice
[0:22] Speaker 1: you gave her. OK, her name is Shava Fox. She
[0:25] Speaker 1: wrote a letter. She says, Mr. Harvey, we met years
[0:28] Speaker 1: ago and I was in a very dark place. I
[0:32] Speaker 1: was fighting depression and questioning whether I had anything left
[0:35] Speaker 1: in me. During that season, your voice, your honesty, and
[0:40] Speaker 1: your ability to tell the truth with humor reached me
[0:44] Speaker 1: in a way I will never forget. You helped me
[0:47] Speaker 1: realize that my own voice mattered. You helped me recognize
[0:51] Speaker 1: a talent I didn't know I had. I didn't have
[0:54] Speaker 1: a mom or a dad, so you saved my life
[0:58] Speaker 1: that day. Now I'm a published author and And you
[1:01] Speaker 1: told me to reach out to you when I released
[1:04] Speaker 1: my first book. It's titled When a Man is Fed Up.
[1:08] Speaker 1: They're tired of being tired, too. And the foreword of
[1:12] Speaker 1: my book is dedicated to you. I'm not writing to
[1:16] Speaker 1: ask you for anything. I simply need you to know
[1:19] Speaker 1: that talking to you had an impact far beyond what
[1:23] Speaker 1: you may have ever realized. Thank you for being who
[1:27] Speaker 1: you are, Mr.
[1:28] Speaker 2: Harvey.
[1:29] Speaker 1: Very nice, right? Well... Yeah.
[1:31] Speaker 2: That's nice. You know, it's always good to know that
[1:34] Speaker 2: you have an impact, you know. Yeah.
[1:39] Speaker 1: You remember her?
[1:42] Speaker 2: Y'all met in a dark place, she say.
[1:44] Speaker 1: That's what she said. No, she said.
[1:47] Speaker 2: She said she was.
[1:48] Speaker 1: In a dark place.
[1:49] Speaker 2: Where was you at all these lights? You are really ignorant.
[1:53] Speaker 2: You sound like a booth at a restaurant to me.
[1:56] Speaker 1: I know. Shut up, Tommy.
[1:59] Speaker 2: What kind of trouble I'm.
[2:01] Speaker 1: In with this hill? The point is you helped this
[2:04] Speaker 1: young lady when she needed help, when she was at
[2:07] Speaker 1: a low point in her life.
[2:10] Speaker 2: I sort of remember that because she had that name.
[2:13] Speaker 2: I had never heard that name before.
[2:15] Speaker 1: Shava.
[2:16] Speaker 2: Because i thought she kept saying shabba and i was
[2:19] Speaker 2: going well that's baby girl shabba ranks and and and
[2:26] Speaker 2: she didn't look like shabba ranks either so that was
[2:28] Speaker 2: another bit of confusion but no man it's always good
[2:32] Speaker 2: to know man that uh you've affected somebody in a
[2:35] Speaker 2: positive way you never know man you throw a lot
[2:38] Speaker 2: of seeds in the ground and you don't know which
[2:39] Speaker 2: ones are sprouting up man but uh Through God's grace
[2:43] Speaker 2: and mercy, man, I've had a lot of that in
[2:45] Speaker 2: my life, man. And it really gives me great, I
[2:52] Speaker 2: have a great sense of purpose when I hear people
[2:57] Speaker 2: say stuff like that. I think it kind of makes
[3:00] Speaker 2: me think about my mentoring camp, man. If I look
[3:03] Speaker 2: at all the young boys that came to my camp,
[3:08] Speaker 2: who come up to me, who write me, who walk
[3:12] Speaker 2: up to me, I mean, man, at Earn Your Leisure,
[3:15] Speaker 2: just this past year, two of the guys, two guys
[3:20] Speaker 2: from my mentoring camp, one is in real estate now,
[3:25] Speaker 2: and he thanks me all the time for everything I
[3:27] Speaker 2: taught him, because that was his dream. And he said,
[3:31] Speaker 2: nobody never asked him that until I came to your camp.
[3:35] Speaker 2: He's a successful real estate agent now, and the other
[3:38] Speaker 2: kid is in insurance. a huge, listen to me, a
[3:44] Speaker 2: huge insurance guy. I mean, this kid, this kid nets
[3:49] Speaker 2: right at a million dollars a year profit. And, you know,
[3:53] Speaker 2: to talk with these young men and, and hear that, man,
[3:57] Speaker 2: you changed my life. You did this for me, man.
[4:00] Speaker 2: It's hundreds. And that gives you me such a feeling
[4:04] Speaker 2: of purpose, man, and gratitude because I've always asked God
[4:08] Speaker 2: to make my life, I want it to be relevant.
[4:11] Speaker 2: I didn't want to just be funny. I want it
[4:13] Speaker 2: to be relevant. And God gave me that. And I
[4:17] Speaker 2: can tell you that that is only from God. You
[4:21] Speaker 2: don't get to, how can I say this, man? Most
[4:25] Speaker 2: of the really, really big stuff you'll get in your
[4:27] Speaker 2: life is not because you worked hard and you wanted it.
[4:31] Speaker 2: It will be because God graced you with You know, man,
[4:35] Speaker 2: people kill me with this. Yeah, but I worked hard.
[4:37] Speaker 2: I worked hard at it. You know how many people
[4:39] Speaker 2: work hard and have very little to show for it?
[4:44] Speaker 2: Do you know how hard I used to work and
[4:46] Speaker 2: had very little to show for it? Just because you
[4:50] Speaker 2: work hard is not the guarantee that it will always
[4:54] Speaker 2: be right. I'm telling you flat out, y'all, you're going
[4:57] Speaker 2: to need some grace and favor. And grace is only
[5:02] Speaker 2: given out by God. God, let me tell you what
[5:06] Speaker 2: I've learned about grace. Grace is God's unmerited favor. You
[5:13] Speaker 2: know what that means? I had to learn that. Grace
[5:16] Speaker 2: is God's unmerited favor. You know what that means? It's unmerited.
[5:22] Speaker 2: That means you can't earn it, you can't deserve it,
[5:28] Speaker 2: and you can't buy it. It ain't for sale. It
[5:33] Speaker 2: ain't for trade off. So when God gives you grace,
[5:37] Speaker 2: that's his unmerited favor. He just laid it on you.
[5:44] Speaker 2: And that's it, man. Because yeah, I know I work hard.
[5:47] Speaker 2: I got that. I know I'll never give up. I
[5:50] Speaker 2: got all of that. But you know how many people
[5:52] Speaker 2: I know work hard and don't give up? So for
[5:55] Speaker 2: me to be on this end of all of it,
[5:58] Speaker 2: this is crazy. That's how I know it's God's grace.
[6:02] Speaker 2: And I thank God for making me relevant. I asked
[6:06] Speaker 2: him for it, but I didn't know how to do it.
[6:09] Speaker 2: And when he gave me so much of it, I
[6:12] Speaker 2: don't even know where it's coming from. It just show
[6:14] Speaker 2: up in moments like this. And that's another thing. That
[6:18] Speaker 2: ain't nobody but the Lord. That's all that is, y'all.
[6:22] Speaker 2: That ain't nobody but the Lord. That ain't Steve Harvey.
[6:25] Speaker 1: No, sir.
[6:26] Speaker 2: No, sir. I'm clear about that. Feel how you want
[6:29] Speaker 2: to feel, but you need God's grace and favor. Y'all
[6:33] Speaker 2: have a great day.
