[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on.
[0:00] Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
[0:04] Speaker 1: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all listen to the voice.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Come on, dig me now. One and only. Steve Harvey.
[0:12] Speaker 1: Got a radio show. Hell, man. Back in business, too, man. Man,
[0:18] Speaker 1: how good is God?
[0:19] Speaker 2: I mean, really, if you think about it, in spite
[0:21] Speaker 2: of all that's going down in your life, first of all,
[0:24] Speaker 2: it could be worse. But secondly, sometimes you have to
[0:28] Speaker 2: remember that And I've just had to have this conversation
[0:30] Speaker 2: with myself this morning. That's how I'm fresh on this
[0:34] Speaker 2: one right here. When a challenge faces you, are you
[0:38] Speaker 2: going through a difficult moment or you didn't hit a
[0:41] Speaker 2: bump in the road? In the middle of that, if
[0:45] Speaker 2: you can manage to be grateful, it will take you
[0:48] Speaker 2: a long way.
[0:49] Speaker 1: Gratitude is a powerful resource.
[0:53] Speaker 2: If you can be grateful in the middle of it,
[0:56] Speaker 2: gratitude is a powerful resource. When it's dim for you
[1:01] Speaker 2: and it got a little bumpy on the road and
[1:04] Speaker 2: you ran into some obstacles and you didn't ran up
[1:07] Speaker 2: into some detour signs and your journey ain't smooth as it.
[1:11] Speaker 1: Was last week or last year.
[1:14] Speaker 2: You got to be grateful for the things that are
[1:18] Speaker 2: going right and that have gone right. And for the
[1:22] Speaker 2: thing that's wrong right now to get right, man, can
[1:25] Speaker 2: I share that with you? Man, is that a tough
[1:28] Speaker 2: one to learn? It is for me. It has been
[1:31] Speaker 2: one of my toughest challenges is to learn how to
[1:35] Speaker 2: be grateful because it's a powerful resource, but how to
[1:39] Speaker 2: be grateful in moments of despair when it ain't going right. See,
[1:43] Speaker 2: here's a mistake I would make. See, when something go wrong,
[1:46] Speaker 2: I want to focus on the wrong so much in
[1:50] Speaker 2: an attempt to fix it. But even then, the focus
[1:54] Speaker 2: ain't always in to fix it. The focus becomes, man,
[1:58] Speaker 2: this is bad. Man, I can't believe this is happening.
[2:02] Speaker 2: Why does it keep going down? That doesn't fix anything.
[2:06] Speaker 2: You know, milling over it, going over what's wrong, explaining it,
[2:12] Speaker 2: sharing it with your friends. You know, making it sound
[2:17] Speaker 2: worse than it is. Tell the story for pity from
[2:20] Speaker 2: other people. All of that right there has nothing to
[2:23] Speaker 2: do with the fix. Sometimes you're just mulling over it.
[2:26] Speaker 2: You're just making it worse. You're just making it a
[2:29] Speaker 2: bigger problem. You're manifesting it into your atmosphere. You're putting
[2:33] Speaker 2: it out there in your spirit. Now all of a
[2:35] Speaker 2: sudden it consumes your day. Next thing you know, you're
[2:38] Speaker 2: having a bad day. If you're having a bad day,
[2:41] Speaker 2: it's because you've been having some bad thoughts. So what
[2:44] Speaker 2: I've had to learn how to do and what I'm
[2:46] Speaker 2: working on this morning is I'm working on this situation
[2:50] Speaker 2: that didn't cropped up. I was going kind of smooth
[2:53] Speaker 2: here for a minute. And now I didn't got real
[2:55] Speaker 2: bumpy in the road, you know, and all this here.
[2:57] Speaker 2: So what I'm thinking about now, though, is even though
[3:00] Speaker 2: I've hit a bump in the road and even though
[3:03] Speaker 2: I ran into a detour and even though I've hit
[3:07] Speaker 2: this lull, I'm going down into a valley.
[3:10] Speaker 1: I ain't up on a peak.
[3:12] Speaker 2: Can I not still be grateful for all the things
[3:16] Speaker 2: that God has given me? for all the things he's
[3:19] Speaker 2: done for me, for all the things he's brought me through,
[3:23] Speaker 2: and realizing that even this that's happening to me again
[3:27] Speaker 2: is going to pass too. He going to get me
[3:30] Speaker 2: through that too.
[3:31] Speaker 1: Come on, man. God is a good God, man. It's
[3:33] Speaker 1: a lot to be grateful for.
[3:35] Speaker 2: So while I'm tripping on this bump in the road
[3:37] Speaker 2: out in here, what I got to remember is all
[3:39] Speaker 2: the things he's done for me. And like I say,
[3:42] Speaker 2: my saying is joy and depression cannot reside in the
[3:45] Speaker 2: same place. So instead of being down about this new
[3:48] Speaker 2: bump in the road, if I'm constantly filling my mind
[3:51] Speaker 2: with the thoughts of how good he's been to me,
[3:54] Speaker 2: of what all he's done for me, of all the
[3:56] Speaker 2: things he's brought me through, of all the blessings he's
[3:59] Speaker 2: presented me with, when I go down that list, I
[4:02] Speaker 2: really don't have a lot of time to mull over
[4:08] Speaker 2: The situation. Now, do I have to fix this bump
[4:11] Speaker 2: in the road? Of course I do. Are there some
[4:13] Speaker 2: things I'm going to have to do to straighten it out?
[4:16] Speaker 2: Of course it is. But Steve, just go on and
[4:19] Speaker 2: get the business of doing it and straighten it out.
[4:21] Speaker 2: What you mulling over and worrying about it for? You know,
[4:24] Speaker 2: old people, I heard old people say something when I
[4:26] Speaker 2: was growing up in the church. They say, if you're
[4:28] Speaker 2: going to pray about it, don't worry about it. But
[4:30] Speaker 2: if you're going to worry about it, don't pray about it.
[4:33] Speaker 2: That's an amazing thing. And prayer just happens to be
[4:37] Speaker 2: my weapon of choice. That ain't always been that way.
[4:40] Speaker 2: I want you to understand that. My first weapon of
[4:43] Speaker 2: choice was you do it to me, I do it
[4:45] Speaker 2: to you. You call me out, I call you out.
[4:48] Speaker 2: You say something bad about me, I've tried to find
[4:50] Speaker 2: you to say something bad about you. That was my
[4:53] Speaker 2: weapon in the past. How did that work out for you, Steve?
[4:57] Speaker 2: Not so good.
[4:58] Speaker 1: Because you know what?
[4:59] Speaker 2: I spent a lot of time fighting back kicking back,
[5:04] Speaker 2: swinging back when I could have spent all that time climbing. See,
[5:09] Speaker 2: all you're trying to do at the end of the day, folks,
[5:11] Speaker 2: is have a better life than the one you got.
[5:13] Speaker 2: All you're trying to do is improve your position in life.
[5:17] Speaker 2: You know, it's not my business to make sure you
[5:19] Speaker 2: don't get where you're going.
[5:21] Speaker 1: I ain't got no time for that. It's not my
[5:23] Speaker 1: job to.
[5:24] Speaker 2: Assure that you ain't as high as me. I ain't
[5:27] Speaker 2: got no time for that. Your real mission and purpose
[5:31] Speaker 2: is to have the best life that you can have,
[5:34] Speaker 2: to ascend to the highest plateau that you can get to,
[5:38] Speaker 2: to make your family as comfortable as you can, to
[5:41] Speaker 2: provide as much as you can for your family, but legally. See,
[5:45] Speaker 2: those of us that are sitting up here trying to
[5:47] Speaker 2: come up with sideways, you can ask a couple million
[5:50] Speaker 2: men sitting in prison today how they wish they hadn't
[5:52] Speaker 2: have done that. And they'll tell you, oh, man, I
[5:56] Speaker 2: wish I never had did it. I knew not to
[5:58] Speaker 2: go down there. Something told me not to go down there. Man,
[6:02] Speaker 2: if I could change things, I would. But they sitting somewhere.
[6:06] Speaker 2: Doing some time that had they made another decision, they
[6:09] Speaker 2: wouldn't have to do that. I don't make them throw
[6:12] Speaker 2: away people now, man, because everybody make mistakes and God
[6:16] Speaker 2: is in the forgiving business. And some of us have
[6:18] Speaker 2: done some things that really broke the law and a
[6:22] Speaker 2: whole lot of other things and deserve to do some time.
[6:25] Speaker 2: But through the grace of God, we didn't. But now
[6:27] Speaker 2: we sit up here and we pass judgment on people
[6:29] Speaker 2: who got to do some. Man, I don't care. I
[6:31] Speaker 2: don't care what you've done. God can forgive anything. But
[6:34] Speaker 2: our position, our motivation in life is to try to
[6:38] Speaker 2: have the best life we can have and provide for
[6:41] Speaker 2: those around us and make it comfortable. If that's your ambition,
[6:44] Speaker 2: you don't have time to worry about or concern yourself
[6:49] Speaker 2: with another person. And I wasted time doing that. And
[6:53] Speaker 2: that's not the way to get it done. It's simply
[6:56] Speaker 2: mine to your business. Taking care of you and getting
[6:59] Speaker 2: yourself right and tight is 24 seven. So that's a
[7:02] Speaker 2: full time job. So what I had to learn was
[7:06] Speaker 2: and what I've the reason I've chosen prayer as as
[7:09] Speaker 2: my weapon of choice now is that now prayer helps me.
[7:14] Speaker 2: that I don't have to fight back. Now, if I
[7:17] Speaker 2: get cornered, I'm going to fight you. I ain't even
[7:20] Speaker 2: going to lie to you. And I'm still working on
[7:23] Speaker 2: some things that trigger me, you know, you know, you know, and, and,
[7:28] Speaker 2: and so I'm, I'm, I'm slowly getting better at that,
[7:31] Speaker 2: but I've learned that my weapon of choice is prayer now.
[7:36] Speaker 2: So when it happens ugly for me, I pray about it.
[7:41] Speaker 2: When it gets tight and dismal for me, I pray
[7:44] Speaker 2: about it. And the thing about prayer, man, is prayer
[7:48] Speaker 2: changes things. Yes, it does now. Read about it and
[7:53] Speaker 2: try it. That's the deal, okay?
[7:56] Speaker 1: Come on. Prayer is a wonderful weapon. You're listening to
[7:59] Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
