[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on.
[0:01] Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
[0:04] Speaker 1: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all listening to The Voice.
[0:09] Speaker 1: Come on, dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey.
[0:12] Speaker 1: Got a radio show. I need everybody today, everybody that's listening,
[0:20] Speaker 1: I need you to catch fire today. I want you
[0:23] Speaker 1: to catch fire today. You want to phrase it another way?
[0:28] Speaker 1: I want you to catch on fire today, but I
[0:31] Speaker 1: need you to catch fire today. I need today to
[0:35] Speaker 1: be the day that you stop complaining and you do something.
[0:40] Speaker 1: Do you know why a lot of people can't move
[0:42] Speaker 1: forward in their life? Because they complain about their past.
[0:45] Speaker 1: They always complain about something that explains the reason why
[0:51] Speaker 1: they are.
[0:52] Speaker 2: Let me help you with this right here.
[0:54] Speaker 1: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, stop, stop.
[1:15] Speaker 1: All that stuff that you're complaining about, everything that you
[1:20] Speaker 1: keep allowing to resonate with you as a reason to
[1:24] Speaker 1: justify and explain you not being successful. Can I share
[1:28] Speaker 1: something with you about all of that? Guess what it is.
[1:32] Speaker 1: You didn't got past all of it. You didn't had
[1:36] Speaker 1: the baby. You got arrested. They didn't kill you. You
[1:39] Speaker 1: didn't finish school, but you're still standing. You met that man.
[1:43] Speaker 2: He gone.
[1:44] Speaker 1: He involved with two other women right now. Got three
[1:46] Speaker 1: other kids. Guess what?
[1:48] Speaker 2: You still here and the baby's here.
[1:50] Speaker 1: You got over all the injustices that were done to you.
[1:54] Speaker 1: You got something happened to you when you was a kid.
[1:57] Speaker 1: You're an adult now. Somebody did something to you when
[1:59] Speaker 1: you was a little boy.
[2:01] Speaker 2: Guess what? You a man now.
[2:03] Speaker 1: Some things happen to you that you haven't found closure on.
[2:08] Speaker 2: The person that you're looking for closure from has moved on.
[2:12] Speaker 1: Can I tell you that everything that has happened to you,
[2:15] Speaker 1: do you know you've gotten past it? So why are
[2:19] Speaker 1: you steady complaining about what has happened to you that
[2:23] Speaker 1: has caused you to be in this position and But
[2:26] Speaker 1: do you understand that it's prohibiting you from moving forward?
[2:29] Speaker 1: Stop complaining today. Catch fire. Let your past be your past.
[2:33] Speaker 1: I've told this to you a hundred times on this radio,
[2:36] Speaker 1: but I'm going to say it again. Bishop Jakes told
[2:38] Speaker 1: me something, man, that helped me so greatly. You can't
[2:43] Speaker 1: drive your car if you're going to keep looking in
[2:46] Speaker 1: the rearview mirror. That's why the windshield is huge. The
[2:51] Speaker 1: windshield is huge. The rearview mirror is this tiny thing
[2:56] Speaker 1: that sits up there. Now, all this for is so
[2:59] Speaker 1: you can see stuff that's coming.
[3:01] Speaker 2: Up on you.
[3:03] Speaker 1: All the rearview mirror for is so you can assure yourself.
[3:07] Speaker 2: Oh, listen to this. The rearview mirror is there to
[3:10] Speaker 2: assure you that you've cleared something. See, that's what the
[3:15] Speaker 2: rearview mirror is for.
[3:16] Speaker 1: So when you pass a car and you want to
[3:17] Speaker 1: switch lanes, you can glance up there and it says, okay,
[3:21] Speaker 1: you're clear now. You passed it. You can switch lanes.
[3:24] Speaker 1: That's all the rearview mirror is for. It ain't for
[3:27] Speaker 1: you to stare at and dictate your life. What you
[3:30] Speaker 1: tripping for, man? Catch fire today. Today, man, quit complaining
[3:36] Speaker 1: about everything that happened to you.
[3:38] Speaker 2: Life is 10%.
[3:39] Speaker 1: What happens to you is 90% what you do about
[3:42] Speaker 1: what happens to you.
[3:43] Speaker 2: What are you going to do about it? So what?
[3:47] Speaker 1: I got all this. Look, man, your story ain't no
[3:50] Speaker 1: deeper than nobody else's. I can tell you I was
[3:52] Speaker 1: homeless for three years. It's people been homeless for 30 years.
[3:58] Speaker 2: How long I'm a ride that out?
[4:00] Speaker 1: Well, you know, I can't do nothing right now. I
[4:03] Speaker 1: fell on hard times and I lost my place to stay.
[4:06] Speaker 1: Where are you staying now? See, the majority of people
[4:11] Speaker 1: are staying somewhere right now.
[4:13] Speaker 2: I was out there.
[4:14] Speaker 1: I didn't have nowhere to go. I'm in a shelter now.
[4:17] Speaker 1: You was under the bridge a week ago. You're in
[4:20] Speaker 1: a shelter now. Why are you still crying about the bridge?
[4:24] Speaker 1: You're in a shelter now. Man.
[4:28] Speaker 2: You know how you find your purpose. You get in.
[4:31] Speaker 1: Touch with who created you. Because when God made you,
[4:37] Speaker 1: he had a purpose in mind. Now, we've ignored it
[4:41] Speaker 1: and we haven't tapped into it, but we all had
[4:43] Speaker 1: a purpose.
[4:44] Speaker 2: You don't.
[4:44] Speaker 1: And it's sometimes it take people longer to discover the purpose.
[4:48] Speaker 1: Colonel Sanders was frying chicken with a recipe that he
[4:53] Speaker 1: was telling people was.
[4:54] Speaker 2: The best chicken in the world.
[4:56] Speaker 1: Ain't nobody believe him till he turned 70. Why you
[5:01] Speaker 1: think the dude that's on the Kentucky Fried Chicken signs
[5:04] Speaker 1: is old?
[5:06] Speaker 2: That dude ain't 20 up there.
[5:08] Speaker 1: He old.
[5:09] Speaker 2: He old. But you know what?
[5:11] Speaker 1: He had been frying that chicken for 40-some years. They
[5:17] Speaker 1: just found out about it when he was 70. But
[5:21] Speaker 1: he didn't give up his purpose in life. This dude
[5:25] Speaker 1: was just frying chicken. See, people keep looking for their
[5:28] Speaker 1: gifts in all kinds of places. When it's right there
[5:30] Speaker 1: in you, you ain't got to go to school to
[5:32] Speaker 1: find your gift. You're born with the gift that God
[5:35] Speaker 1: got for you. You'll go to school to tack it
[5:38] Speaker 1: on to something else. But your gift was already given
[5:41] Speaker 1: to you. You were born with that. You don't have
[5:43] Speaker 1: to go to college to know your gift. Your college
[5:46] Speaker 1: allows you to enhance it and to find something to
[5:48] Speaker 1: attach it to. And hopefully you get a degree that
[5:51] Speaker 1: attaches your gift to a vehicle where.
[5:54] Speaker 2: It can work.
[5:55] Speaker 1: The problem with college is we go to college and
[5:58] Speaker 1: we attach it to what we like or what we
[6:00] Speaker 1: might be passionate about, and we ignore the gift we have.
[6:03] Speaker 1: You know how many people that graduated from college ain't
[6:05] Speaker 1: doing nothing they went to college for?
[6:07] Speaker 2: Come on, man. You know why?
[6:09] Speaker 1: Because you discover in life your gift. You discover what
[6:12] Speaker 1: you was born to do. You know what my major
[6:16] Speaker 1: was in college? It was advertising. I can't be at
[6:20] Speaker 1: no desk drawing no picture for nobody. But now guess what?
[6:23] Speaker 1: I can wake up every day and guess what? I
[6:25] Speaker 1: can tell you I advertise. I've been advertising my career.
[6:28] Speaker 1: Come see me live. Come see me live at Madison
[6:32] Speaker 1: Square Garden. Come see me live at Phillips Arena. Come
[6:35] Speaker 1: see me live at Joker's Comedy Club. Come see me
[6:37] Speaker 1: live at Percy's. Come see me live at Ellis's Tavern.
[6:41] Speaker 1: Come see me live. Come.
[6:43] Speaker 2: I've been advertising the whole time.
[6:46] Speaker 1: But I had a different purpose in mind because I
[6:48] Speaker 1: went and I talked to God. And this is how
[6:50] Speaker 1: you do it. You go talk to God and say, hey, God, look, OK,
[6:54] Speaker 1: this is the deal. I've been struggling here. I'm over 40.
[6:59] Speaker 1: I still haven't found my purpose in life. OK, but
[7:02] Speaker 1: so I can quit wasting any more time. Would you
[7:05] Speaker 1: help direct me and guide me to my purpose? I
[7:08] Speaker 1: know you created me to do something. I just haven't
[7:11] Speaker 1: found what it is. And the reason I haven't found
[7:13] Speaker 1: what it is, because I've been doing things my way.
[7:16] Speaker 1: I ain't been checking with you, conferring with you on anything.
[7:19] Speaker 1: I ain't locked in or tried to settle it up
[7:21] Speaker 1: with you. I've been just doing my thing. Well, my
[7:24] Speaker 1: thing has gotten me as far as it can get me.
[7:27] Speaker 1: How about you take over and do your thing? Now,
[7:30] Speaker 1: can you direct me in my path? I'm an open book.
[7:34] Speaker 1: Treat me like a piece of clay. I'm telling you, man,
[7:37] Speaker 1: if you go to God, he'll give it to you.
[7:39] Speaker 1: But see, you have not because you ask not. How
[7:43] Speaker 1: many times have you asked God for it? This ain't
[7:48] Speaker 1: no magic trick, y'all. This is the deal. You got
[7:51] Speaker 1: to catch fire today. Catch fire today. I am.
[7:55] Speaker 2: I'm excited about today. I've got a lot to do.
[7:58] Speaker 2: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
