[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on.
[0:00] Speaker 2: Do your thing, Big Daddy.
[0:02] Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
[0:03] Speaker 2: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all listening to The Voice.
[0:08] Speaker 2: Come on. Dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey.
[0:11] Speaker 2: Got a radio show. Man, oh, man. Thank God. Good. Yeah, yes.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Hey, y'all. You know, I want to remind everybody today
[0:19] Speaker 1: that you got to keep pressing forward, man. I know
[0:22] Speaker 1: it gets difficult out there sometimes, but you got to
[0:25] Speaker 1: keep pressing forward. There's nothing else for you to do.
[0:29] Speaker 1: The option of quitting, turning back, giving up, it cannot
[0:33] Speaker 1: be there. The thoughts can pop into your head, but
[0:36] Speaker 1: when they do, you got to pray about it. But
[0:39] Speaker 1: you got to keep pressing forward. You got to keep
[0:42] Speaker 1: it moving, man. I don't care how dark and dirty
[0:45] Speaker 1: it get for you. You got to somehow summon it
[0:48] Speaker 1: up within you to keep it moving, to keep pressing forward.
[0:52] Speaker 1: Because the only way you're going to get it is
[0:54] Speaker 1: you got to stay in the race. You know, you've
[0:56] Speaker 1: heard it said a thousand times, the race isn't given
[0:58] Speaker 1: to the swift, but to him that endureth to the end.
[1:01] Speaker 1: You got to stay with it, whatever it is. I
[1:03] Speaker 1: don't know what it is for you, but whatever it is,
[1:05] Speaker 1: you got to stay with it. Because quitting, quitting don't
[1:08] Speaker 1: let you see the end result. The only way to
[1:11] Speaker 1: see the end result is you got to finish the race.
[1:14] Speaker 1: You got to stay in the race because the victory
[1:16] Speaker 1: may be nearer than it seems. There's a poem I
[1:19] Speaker 1: learned in college under some stressful situations. I'll just say
[1:23] Speaker 1: it like that. There is a stanza in this poem
[1:26] Speaker 1: called Don't Quit that says, Often the goal is nearer
[1:30] Speaker 1: than it seems to a faint and a faltering man.
[1:35] Speaker 1: And often the struggler has given up when he might
[1:39] Speaker 1: have captured the victor's cup. And he learns too late
[1:44] Speaker 1: when the night came down how close he was to
[1:48] Speaker 1: the golden crown. Now, that's just a stanza in it.
[1:52] Speaker 1: The poem is much longer than that. I know the
[1:54] Speaker 1: whole thing because I learned it. But I've always remembered
[1:59] Speaker 1: that poem, that the goal is often nearer than it
[2:03] Speaker 1: seems to a faint and a faltering man. And oftentimes
[2:07] Speaker 1: the struggler has given up when he might have captured
[2:11] Speaker 1: the victor's cup. But then he learns too late when
[2:15] Speaker 1: the night came down how close he was to the
[2:18] Speaker 1: golden crown. And there's a last stanza of the poem says,
[2:21] Speaker 1: it may be near when it seems afar. So stick
[2:25] Speaker 1: to the fight when your heart is ticked. It's when
[2:29] Speaker 1: things seem worse that you mustn't quit. That poem is really,
[2:34] Speaker 1: it's an unknown author to the poem. So if you
[2:37] Speaker 1: want to look it up, it's called Don't Quit. The
[2:40] Speaker 1: author is unknown. They never knew who it was. But
[2:43] Speaker 1: you know, I'm talking to you today from the standpoint
[2:46] Speaker 1: of encouragement. I want to show you an analogy that
[2:49] Speaker 1: I the trip down this morning when I was thinking
[2:51] Speaker 1: about something I wanted. And I was thinking, you know, okay,
[2:58] Speaker 1: if you have a job, the way you have to
[3:01] Speaker 1: do your job, your job forces you to do this.
[3:02] Speaker 1: So you can't just randomly do this on your job.
[3:05] Speaker 1: A job forces you to plan ahead a little bit.
[3:09] Speaker 1: You know, a job requires that you go through the
[3:12] Speaker 1: procedures in order for something to happen that you want
[3:14] Speaker 1: to happen. Example, you want a vacation. You have to
[3:19] Speaker 1: put in for that vacation. That's what it's called on
[3:22] Speaker 1: your job. Just put in. You may dress it up
[3:24] Speaker 1: some other way, but common sense. You have to put in.
[3:28] Speaker 1: You got to do that because the job requires it.
[3:31] Speaker 1: You got to put in for your vacation. If you
[3:33] Speaker 1: want a promotion and you see it posted somewhere that
[3:38] Speaker 1: we now have a position opening, you got to put
[3:40] Speaker 1: in for that.
[3:41] Speaker 2: You just can't sit back and hope they pick you.
[3:45] Speaker 1: Because they're probably going to pick the person who wants it,
[3:48] Speaker 1: who shows the initiative to go get it.
[3:51] Speaker 2: So you have to put in for a promotion on
[3:53] Speaker 2: a lot of jobs.
[3:54] Speaker 1: If you want some days off, a couple of days here,
[3:59] Speaker 1: a couple of days there, you got to put in
[4:01] Speaker 1: for that. But all of these are things that you want.
[4:04] Speaker 1: You want vacations. You want a day off here and there.
[4:07] Speaker 1: You want some promotions. If you want a raise, you
[4:11] Speaker 1: have to go in and request a raise. It requires
[4:16] Speaker 1: an action on your part, on your job. And guess what?
[4:19] Speaker 1: We've all accepted this as this is the way it's done.
[4:22] Speaker 1: You want a raise? You have to put in for
[4:24] Speaker 1: a raise. You want a raise? You got to go
[4:26] Speaker 1: in and have a meeting and take a request immediately.
[4:27] Speaker 1: So you can show your value to get the raise.
[4:29] Speaker 1: You want a vacation time? You got to put in
[4:31] Speaker 1: for that. And then they got to, they could tell you, yeah.
[4:33] Speaker 1: And then you want a promotion? Same thing. You want
[4:36] Speaker 1: some days off?
[4:37] Speaker 2: Same thing. Okay.
[4:38] Speaker 1: That's the deal with your job. Well, that's the deal
[4:40] Speaker 1: with your life too. That exact picture that I painted
[4:44] Speaker 1: for you, that you're also very much aware of, that
[4:46] Speaker 1: you're very crystal clear on the rules and regulations that
[4:48] Speaker 1: you have no problem following them. The same rules for
[4:51] Speaker 1: your life. What you mean by that, Steve? You got
[4:53] Speaker 1: to put in with God. You got to put in
[4:56] Speaker 1: for what you want with God. And it's as simple
[4:59] Speaker 1: as that. You put in. You want some more of this,
[5:02] Speaker 1: some more of that. You got to put in with God.
[5:05] Speaker 1: You put in with your job. You go down there
[5:07] Speaker 1: and ask that man what you want, and you ain't
[5:09] Speaker 1: got no problem following the rules.
[5:11] Speaker 2: Well, put in with God. What you want?
[5:14] Speaker 1: What's your list? What's your request? What do you really want?
[5:19] Speaker 1: How much money are you really trying to make? Where
[5:21] Speaker 1: are you really trying to live? What kind of career
[5:24] Speaker 1: and job would you really like to have? What kind
[5:26] Speaker 1: of person would you really like to be? What type
[5:29] Speaker 1: of family are you hoping and wishing for? What's the
[5:32] Speaker 1: relationship you're looking for? What you want, you got to
[5:35] Speaker 1: put in for that. You got to put in. You
[5:37] Speaker 1: got to go to.
[5:38] Speaker 2: God and put in for that.
[5:39] Speaker 1: See, we'll follow the rules set to us up, set
[5:42] Speaker 1: us up and set up by us in a system.
[5:44] Speaker 1: But we simple rules are putting in for your life, man.
[5:48] Speaker 1: We don't even do that. I wish I would put
[5:50] Speaker 1: in for a job and not put in for God.
[5:52] Speaker 1: You got to be kidding me. You think this man
[5:54] Speaker 1: that has this company has more to offer to you
[5:57] Speaker 1: in terms of vacation promos and raises than God got
[6:00] Speaker 1: for you for your life? Man, you keep putting too
[6:03] Speaker 1: much faith in man. That's what's wrong with us. I
[6:05] Speaker 1: sure hope he give me this raise. I don't even
[6:08] Speaker 1: go to people with that. I go to God about it.
[6:12] Speaker 1: Then God touched them people's hearts. Then when I walk
[6:14] Speaker 1: in there, it's already done. That's how you capture this thing, folks.
[6:19] Speaker 1: It's not a magic trick. It's just a real simple understanding.
[6:24] Speaker 1: Why would you not put in with God if you're
[6:26] Speaker 1: going to put in on your job? That don't make
[6:27] Speaker 1: no sense. Where you get the job from? Where your
[6:31] Speaker 1: boss get his position from? Where did this company come from? See,
[6:35] Speaker 1: when you peel back the banana, it all make a
[6:37] Speaker 1: lot of sense, don't it?
[6:39] Speaker 2: It really does. And I'm just a common sense guy.
[6:41] Speaker 2: You know, look, I don't have the education that a
[6:42] Speaker 2: lot of people have.
[6:44] Speaker 1: But I got a sure, sure enough bunch of life experience, though. Oh,
[6:48] Speaker 1: I've been I've been getting smacked and knocked down the
[6:51] Speaker 1: majority of my life.
[6:53] Speaker 2: Oh, I may look good to you now. It looked
[6:55] Speaker 2: like he got his shine going on.
[6:56] Speaker 1: And I am grateful to God for my life that
[6:58] Speaker 1: I got now because this show ain't the one I had.
[7:01] Speaker 1: But I got news for you. It ain't the one
[7:02] Speaker 1: I thought I was going to have until I put
[7:04] Speaker 1: in for it. I ain't seen none of this until
[7:07] Speaker 1: I put in for it. And, you know, as I
[7:09] Speaker 1: saw it shaping and forming, then I said, God, could
[7:12] Speaker 1: that really be happening? I wonder if you could make
[7:14] Speaker 1: me this. Lord, I was wondering, man, could I really
[7:17] Speaker 1: have a syndicated radio show? Lord, make it happen. If
[7:21] Speaker 1: it's in your way, I'll put it in for it.
[7:23] Speaker 1: Now I'm working my tail off now because that's a
[7:26] Speaker 1: part of it. See, but then God tells you that too.
[7:28] Speaker 1: He says faith without works is dead. I'm working my
[7:31] Speaker 1: behind off, but the big thing is I put in
[7:34] Speaker 1: for it. So I got a bunch of more stuff
[7:36] Speaker 1: that I done put in for God. I can't tell
[7:38] Speaker 1: y'all what it is, but Oh Lord have mercy.
[7:41] Speaker 2: I'm in line.
[7:42] Speaker 1: I'm putting in for all the blessings. That's due me.
[7:45] Speaker 1: If God's passing out a raise in blessings, I'm lined up.
[7:49] Speaker 1: He want to send me on a bigger vacation. I'm
[7:51] Speaker 1: lined up. He passing out extra checks down at the job.
[7:56] Speaker 1: I'm lined up because I'm putting in. Why don't you
[7:58] Speaker 1: put in too?
[7:59] Speaker 2: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
