[0:00] Speaker 1: Uh-huh. I sure will. Good morning, everybody. You're listening to
[0:07] Speaker 1: The Voice. Come on. Dig me now. One and only
[0:10] Speaker 1: Steve Harvey. Got a radio show. Well, nothing changes about that.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Nothing changes about that. Man, I was just getting ready
[0:21] Speaker 1: to come on the air this morning. I was just thinking, man.
[0:27] Speaker 1: I was just having a reflective moment of just how
[0:30] Speaker 1: really good God has been to me. I just, it's, it's,
[0:36] Speaker 1: it's man. Let me just say that again. How really
[0:40] Speaker 1: good God has been to me. And here's the cold part.
[0:45] Speaker 1: In spite of myself, you understand, in spite of all
[0:49] Speaker 1: my shortcomings, in spite of all of my flaws and, and, and, and, and,
[0:56] Speaker 1: In spite of all of what anybody has said about me, God,
[1:02] Speaker 1: through his grace and mercy, just keeps me anyway. So
[1:06] Speaker 1: many of us are exceptional people, but we refuse to
[1:14] Speaker 1: just go ahead and be exceptional. We settle for the ordinary.
[1:21] Speaker 1: We follow the pack. We try to fit in. Man,
[1:26] Speaker 1: oh man, oh man. You know, I've heard my wife
[1:28] Speaker 1: say this to my children all the time when she
[1:31] Speaker 1: was scolding them or talking to them. She'd be talking
[1:33] Speaker 1: to them about leadership. You know, why are you following
[1:36] Speaker 1: everybody when God clearly made you to lead? So many
[1:40] Speaker 1: of us are born and so many of you are
[1:42] Speaker 1: born to be exceptional people, but we always trying to
[1:47] Speaker 1: follow the pack. Why would you try to fit in?
[1:52] Speaker 1: Why would you try to be like everybody else, be ordinary?
[1:58] Speaker 1: Why would you follow the pack when God has created
[2:01] Speaker 1: you to be exceptional? The key word in exceptional is accept.
[2:08] Speaker 1: You ever done this right here? You know, everybody did
[2:11] Speaker 1: that except me. Everybody felt that way except me. Everybody
[2:18] Speaker 1: said that except me. Everybody wanted that except me. Everybody
[2:25] Speaker 1: went over there except me. Everybody jumped in except me.
[2:31] Speaker 1: Except me. See, why have you said that in your
[2:35] Speaker 1: life if you were not to be exceptional? See, you
[2:39] Speaker 1: got to say everybody except me. At one point, I
[2:43] Speaker 1: don't know who ain't done it. You know, everybody voted
[2:46] Speaker 1: no except me. See, so you're not created to follow
[2:53] Speaker 1: the pack. You ain't created to fit in. You ain't
[2:56] Speaker 1: created to, you know, to be ordinary. You were created
[3:00] Speaker 1: to be exceptional. As exceptional as your fingerprint on your
[3:05] Speaker 1: finger is, you were created to be exceptional. Why not
[3:08] Speaker 1: make this the year that you go head on and
[3:12] Speaker 1: be exceptional? Why won't this be the year that you
[3:16] Speaker 1: decide in your mind, but just has to be a
[3:19] Speaker 1: decision that we make now. We're not following the pack
[3:22] Speaker 1: no more. We're not trying to fit in no more.
[3:26] Speaker 1: We ain't settling for ordinary no more. We're going to
[3:28] Speaker 1: be exceptional. But you know, you got to go ahead
[3:32] Speaker 1: and follow that. You got to get on the exceptional
[3:35] Speaker 1: path because that's what you were created for. Why be ordinary?
[3:39] Speaker 1: You know, but all of this, this comes, it has
[3:41] Speaker 1: to start with a thought. You got to first think something.
[3:47] Speaker 1: Thoughts become things. A man is as he thinketh. That's
[3:52] Speaker 1: all you will ever be. So what are your thoughts today?
[3:55] Speaker 1: Why not have exceptional thoughts instead of ordinary thoughts? Why
[3:59] Speaker 1: not have exceptional thoughts instead of fitting in thoughts? So
[4:03] Speaker 1: why you want to be like everybody else? Why you
[4:06] Speaker 1: want to be ordinary when you could possibly be extraordinary
[4:10] Speaker 1: with a change of your mind? a change of your venue,
[4:13] Speaker 1: and you don't have to be any other kind of
[4:16] Speaker 1: way just because my mama was this way or my
[4:19] Speaker 1: daddy was this way or this the school I went to,
[4:22] Speaker 1: this what race I belong to, this my sexual preference,
[4:25] Speaker 1: this my this, this my that. How many excuses you need?
[4:31] Speaker 1: How many excuses? What's it going to be this year?
[4:35] Speaker 1: that we let another 365 days slip by without improving
[4:40] Speaker 1: our condition, our place, our spot, our life, the quality
[4:45] Speaker 1: of life we have. We cannot afford to keep letting
[4:50] Speaker 1: all these years go by without changing. You're an exceptional person.
[4:57] Speaker 1: How many times have you set up and said, everybody
[5:00] Speaker 1: did that except me? You know, I was on, everybody
[5:04] Speaker 1: jumped in except me. I told him I knew it.
[5:08] Speaker 1: Everybody voted for that except me. And now look at it. Man,
[5:13] Speaker 1: it seemed like everybody went that way except me. Okay.
[5:18] Speaker 1: Do you get it? Do you understand what's being said
[5:23] Speaker 1: to you? That old except me is because couldn't it
[5:26] Speaker 1: be because you're an exceptional person? And it's time for
[5:30] Speaker 1: you to take control of that. It's time for you
[5:33] Speaker 1: to start thinking different. It's time for you to start
[5:35] Speaker 1: acting on what you think. It's time for you to
[5:38] Speaker 1: start doing something about it. It's time for you to
[5:40] Speaker 1: stop taking each and every day that God gives us
[5:43] Speaker 1: for granted and letting them go by the wayside like
[5:46] Speaker 1: you got plenty more. Well, you may have plenty more,
[5:49] Speaker 1: but guess what? What you wasting the ones you got for?
[5:54] Speaker 1: I got you young and you feel like you're going
[5:56] Speaker 1: to live forever. Okay, cool. But let me ask you something. See,
[6:01] Speaker 1: here go the part about, suppose you do live. See,
[6:05] Speaker 1: everybody worrying about dying, but I got news for you.
[6:07] Speaker 1: Suppose you keep on living. You want to keep living
[6:10] Speaker 1: in the condition you in now? You want to keep
[6:13] Speaker 1: living with the money you got now? You want to
[6:15] Speaker 1: keep living with the relationship you got now? You want
[6:18] Speaker 1: to keep living by yourself like you are now? You
[6:21] Speaker 1: want to keep wanting the right relationship, the right man,
[6:23] Speaker 1: the right woman, but you keep getting the wrong one.
[6:25] Speaker 1: You want to keep doing that for the rest of
[6:28] Speaker 1: your life. Problem ain't dying. This problem is if you
[6:30] Speaker 1: keep on living, who wants to keep on living just
[6:33] Speaker 1: the way they are right now. And if you could say,
[6:37] Speaker 1: I'm cool with, I am just the way I am
[6:38] Speaker 1: right now. Then cool. This conversation ain't for you. I
[6:41] Speaker 1: ain't got no problem with that. You know, you don't
[6:44] Speaker 1: say greatness ain't for everybody. Being exceptional ain't for everybody.
[6:49] Speaker 1: Becoming extraordinary ain't for everybody. Heck, becoming successful ain't for everybody.
[6:55] Speaker 1: I got it. And you can come up with a
[6:58] Speaker 1: way to justify your non-existence and your ordinary life all
[7:01] Speaker 1: you want. And that's fine and dandy. I ain't got
[7:04] Speaker 1: no problem with it because some people just going to
[7:06] Speaker 1: be regular. Some people just going to follow the pack,
[7:10] Speaker 1: follow the crowd. Some people just wants to fit in.
[7:14] Speaker 1: But if you're not that person, if you want to
[7:16] Speaker 1: be extraordinary, If you want to be exceptional, if you
[7:20] Speaker 1: want to be, if you want to dare to be
[7:21] Speaker 1: great at something and you got to change your mindset,
[7:25] Speaker 1: you got to get with your creator and find out
[7:27] Speaker 1: what he created you for. You got to quit thinking
[7:29] Speaker 1: of things just in your own thought process. You know,
[7:33] Speaker 1: lean not to your own understanding. I don't know where
[7:35] Speaker 1: that is, but it's in there somewhere. See, and once
[7:38] Speaker 1: you lean, if you lean to your own understanding, you
[7:41] Speaker 1: know what it's going to do is going to limit you, man.
[7:43] Speaker 1: It's going to limit you. Why not see what God
[7:46] Speaker 1: got for you? I would rather know what God got
[7:49] Speaker 1: for me than to think of all the things I
[7:51] Speaker 1: could because I can't outthink him. I done tried it before.
[7:55] Speaker 1: All right. It's just the beginning. We'll have a good one, man.
[7:57] Speaker 1: Let's go. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
