[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on. Uh-huh. I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all
[0:07] Speaker 1: listening to The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One
[0:10] Speaker 1: and only Steve Harvey. Man, oh man, got a radio show. Yeah,
[0:14] Speaker 1: I do. God's so big to me, man. I just
[0:17] Speaker 1: have to tell you about it. I can't help it.
[0:20] Speaker 1: It's rather obvious to me how big, how good God is.
[0:25] Speaker 1: He's absolutely tremendous. He's off the chain. He own one.
[0:32] Speaker 1: He be clowning. He be just showing out, man. I'm
[0:36] Speaker 1: just over here just on the receiving end. You know,
[0:40] Speaker 1: if you out there, start your mission today. Start your
[0:45] Speaker 1: mission today. What are you waiting for? Why do we
[0:51] Speaker 1: as people delay what we want or delay the process
[1:00] Speaker 1: to begin what we want, our hopes, our dreams, our desires.
[1:05] Speaker 1: Why won't you start your mission today? Why don't we
[1:09] Speaker 1: all decide together that just individually, look, you listening, you
[1:16] Speaker 1: got something that you've been dreaming about. You got an
[1:18] Speaker 1: ambition of yours that's not yet fulfilled. You got goals
[1:22] Speaker 1: you haven't accomplished yet. Everybody has them. Everybody's got them.
[1:27] Speaker 1: Everybody's got something that's on the table that they haven't
[1:31] Speaker 1: yet attacked yet. What are you waiting for? Start your
[1:35] Speaker 1: mission today. Stop the procrastination now. The procrastination is only
[1:40] Speaker 1: hurting you, yourself. If you got a goal, an aspiration,
[1:45] Speaker 1: a dream, and you fall off track momentarily, you can
[1:49] Speaker 1: get back to that because God know where you left off. Now,
[1:54] Speaker 1: you may have to accomplish a few more things since
[1:56] Speaker 1: you stopped for a long period of time. But God
[1:58] Speaker 1: know where you left off. You can get back on track. Look, man,
[2:02] Speaker 1: this dream of being on TV since I was a kid,
[2:05] Speaker 1: it got off track now. It got off track. I
[2:09] Speaker 1: just kept it as one of the dreams. And in
[2:12] Speaker 1: some real dark moments when it looked like it wasn't
[2:15] Speaker 1: going to happen, all I was hanging on to was
[2:18] Speaker 1: just to hope that one day it could. But that's
[2:21] Speaker 1: what faith is really about. Faith is the belief in
[2:24] Speaker 1: things that you cannot see. But faith gives you the
[2:28] Speaker 1: confidence to keep hoping, man. Sometimes it just keep hope alive.
[2:33] Speaker 1: Sometimes you heard Jesse Jackson say it. Just keep hope alive. Sometimes, man,
[2:38] Speaker 1: it's just the hope. I was hanging on the hope.
[2:42] Speaker 1: And I'm talking about when it got real ugly and
[2:45] Speaker 1: funky out there for me, when it looked like I
[2:47] Speaker 1: wasn't going to ever make it. And all of the
[2:51] Speaker 1: facts was in and everything pointed in the direction. You're
[2:54] Speaker 1: not going to make it. You don't really messed up
[2:56] Speaker 1: this time. Then I sat there and I just hung
[3:00] Speaker 1: on to the hope. But man, that's what I'm saying.
[3:04] Speaker 1: If you got a dream or an aspiration or vision
[3:07] Speaker 1: or something, when you fall off track and you want
[3:10] Speaker 1: to go get back in line, God holds your place. See,
[3:15] Speaker 1: he held on to that for me. He knew I
[3:17] Speaker 1: was off track and out of line, but he said, okay,
[3:20] Speaker 1: here's where we stop. You want to be on TV. Now,
[3:23] Speaker 1: when you get it together and you quit tripping and
[3:25] Speaker 1: you come and you turn to me, I'm going to
[3:27] Speaker 1: hold your place, put you back in line. Then we
[3:28] Speaker 1: go and finish the journey. That took me a lot
[3:30] Speaker 1: longer to get here than I wanted to, but then
[3:33] Speaker 1: it was necessary because I needed all of them mishaps
[3:36] Speaker 1: to happen to me along the way. So when I
[3:38] Speaker 1: got on the radio one day, which I did not
[3:40] Speaker 1: see coming, Steve Harvey got a radio show, y'all. That's
[3:43] Speaker 1: why I say it every day. See, because of this
[3:46] Speaker 1: radio show that I didn't see coming, now I have
[3:48] Speaker 1: stories to tell. I got experiences to share. And I
[3:54] Speaker 1: can tell you about me better than I can tell
[3:56] Speaker 1: you about anybody. And I done been through enough where
[3:59] Speaker 1: it's relatable, where enough people can go, man, that happened
[4:03] Speaker 1: to me. Appreciate you saying that. That's what it was for. See,
[4:06] Speaker 1: I get it now. See, at the time, though, I
[4:08] Speaker 1: didn't like what was happening to me. At the time,
[4:12] Speaker 1: I was really in total disagreement with God on a
[4:14] Speaker 1: lot of stuff he was pulling off on me. But
[4:17] Speaker 1: in essence, I was really pulling it off on myself.
[4:20] Speaker 1: But through his grace and mercy, he kept me through
[4:23] Speaker 1: all of my mistakes, all my bad decisions, all my miscalculations,
[4:28] Speaker 1: all my misfires, all the times I knowingly stepped out
[4:32] Speaker 1: there and did wrong. He forgave me. He said, because, man,
[4:37] Speaker 1: if you ever come to me, I have a plan
[4:40] Speaker 1: for you. That is going to be far and above.
[4:44] Speaker 1: It will supersede everything you've ever dreamed of. That's what
[4:48] Speaker 1: I did. I just got sick of me. Good and
[4:51] Speaker 1: sick of me. And I turned it over to God.
[4:54] Speaker 1: And then God started working. And here I am today.
[4:58] Speaker 1: Nasty through with me yet. Nope. Have I arrived yet? Nope.
[5:03] Speaker 1: But guess what? The journey is cool. You know, it's
[5:07] Speaker 1: like I was talking to this young brother the other
[5:09] Speaker 1: day about comedy. He's a really good stand-up, you know,
[5:13] Speaker 1: this young dude that's really good. He said, man, what
[5:16] Speaker 1: is this I feel every night before I go on stage?
[5:20] Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. I just want it
[5:22] Speaker 1: off me. I said, sir, listen to me, young dude.
[5:26] Speaker 1: This thing that climbs on my back every night before
[5:30] Speaker 1: I go on stage, I don't know what it is.
[5:33] Speaker 1: It's got something to do with pressure. It's got something
[5:35] Speaker 1: to do with anticipation. It's got a whole lot to
[5:38] Speaker 1: do with the fear of falling. He said, what you
[5:41] Speaker 1: mean by that? I said, every night I walk out
[5:43] Speaker 1: on stage. It's like I'm about to go and step
[5:46] Speaker 1: off a cliff. I say it's a sickening feeling. He said, man,
[5:50] Speaker 1: but you do so well. I said, that's because the
[5:53] Speaker 1: parachute opens. I say, but I want you to understand something.
[5:56] Speaker 1: When I first walk out there, it's just stepping off
[5:59] Speaker 1: the cliff. Now, these jokes provide a parachute, which slows
[6:05] Speaker 1: my descent when I jump off the cliff and I
[6:08] Speaker 1: turn it into a glide. And then I take the
[6:11] Speaker 1: audience this way and I swing them back over to
[6:13] Speaker 1: that way. We might swing out to the Colorado Rockies.
[6:17] Speaker 1: We may go down to Miami with this joke. We
[6:19] Speaker 1: may take it on out to L.A. And I just
[6:22] Speaker 1: swing back and forth till I land softly. The crowd cheers.
[6:26] Speaker 1: The night is over with. I said, but it's been
[6:28] Speaker 1: too many nights, though, when I walked off that cliff
[6:31] Speaker 1: and I pulled the cord and the parachute didn't open.
[6:34] Speaker 1: I said, no, I'm just free falling out there for
[6:36] Speaker 1: 30 minutes. Ain't no jokes working. Ain't the parachute didn't open.
[6:41] Speaker 1: I said, so see, that's what it's like for me.
[6:44] Speaker 1: And then, you know what I found out? If you
[6:46] Speaker 1: don't walked off the cliff in life and you ain't
[6:49] Speaker 1: got no God in your life, it's like not having
[6:52] Speaker 1: a parachute. You step off the cliff and you just
[6:56] Speaker 1: free falling. Now see, we all, now that fall gets
[7:00] Speaker 1: you closer to the grave, right? See, we all heading
[7:02] Speaker 1: to the grave from the moment we born. But the
[7:05] Speaker 1: cool thing about a relationship with God is, When you
[7:07] Speaker 1: step off the cliff and you got God, he a parachute.
[7:11] Speaker 1: You still going down, but it's a nice ride. And
[7:15] Speaker 1: God just helps your descent appear more like a rise
[7:19] Speaker 1: and more like a euphoric fall. Instead of not having
[7:23] Speaker 1: no God in your life and you just walking off
[7:26] Speaker 1: that cliff every day, free falling, ain't got no cord,
[7:30] Speaker 1: you steady pulling, you hollering the whole way because you
[7:33] Speaker 1: messed around with yourself and ain't let God come into
[7:36] Speaker 1: your life and provide a parachute for you. I would
[7:40] Speaker 1: rather have a parachute since I got to jump every
[7:43] Speaker 1: day than to not have one. God has been like
[7:46] Speaker 1: a parachute for me. Ask me where that came from.
[7:51] Speaker 1: I can't tell you. But like I always say, most
[7:54] Speaker 1: good things that happen in my life that I can't
[7:56] Speaker 1: explain is usually him. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
[8:00] Speaker 1: Morning Show.
