[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on uh-huh i sure will good morning everybody you're
[0:07] Speaker 1: listening to the voice uh come on dig me now
[0:11] Speaker 1: one and only steve harvey man got a radio show.
[0:15] Speaker 2: Boy oh boy oh boy i can't even tell you
[0:18] Speaker 2: man um i've been doing some thinking and um And
[0:24] Speaker 2: one of the things that I wanted to mention today
[0:27] Speaker 2: to you as one of the principles of success, being
[0:33] Speaker 2: grateful at all times is difficult to do. Being grateful
[0:41] Speaker 2: at all times is very difficult to do. I find
[0:47] Speaker 2: that to be true with myself. Now, there are others
[0:50] Speaker 2: that might be able to do it, but I, just
[0:53] Speaker 2: from talking and listening and living and learning, being grateful
[0:58] Speaker 2: at all times is difficult to do, but it's necessary
[1:03] Speaker 2: because it's such an act of faith in knowing that
[1:08] Speaker 2: no matter what's going on, it's going to be all right.
[1:13] Speaker 2: And it's hard to see that when things are not
[1:17] Speaker 2: going in your favor, when things have turned so dramatically
[1:22] Speaker 2: the other way. And it seems as though you're the
[1:26] Speaker 2: only one in the situation where you're involved with other
[1:29] Speaker 2: people or someone got an accusation against you falsely or
[1:33] Speaker 2: somebody trying to do something to you unjustifiably, whatever the
[1:37] Speaker 2: case may be. When it's happening to you, it does
[1:41] Speaker 2: appear to you that, oh my goodness, man, this is
[1:46] Speaker 2: horribly one-sided. So it is difficult. It is hard to do,
[1:51] Speaker 2: to be grateful at all times, but it's so necessary.
[1:56] Speaker 2: And I just want to point out a couple of
[1:58] Speaker 2: things to you. First of all, the difficulty in being
[2:03] Speaker 2: grateful in hard times is that, number one, the present
[2:09] Speaker 2: circumstances oftentimes is just so pressing and so overwhelming that
[2:14] Speaker 2: a lot of your energy is devoted to trying to
[2:18] Speaker 2: come up with the solution for that. or trying to
[2:20] Speaker 2: muster the strength to weather the storm, or trying to
[2:24] Speaker 2: just brace yourself to try to get through it. And
[2:27] Speaker 2: in doing that, it's hard to be grateful. It's hard
[2:33] Speaker 2: to be grateful in pain. And I know it is.
[2:37] Speaker 2: But here is the trick for me. This is what
[2:41] Speaker 2: I've had to learn how to do. And I guess
[2:45] Speaker 2: it takes practice to get here. It's not nothing you
[2:48] Speaker 2: just start doing right away. You got to practice it
[2:50] Speaker 2: in small increments to really get it. What I've always
[2:53] Speaker 2: had to say to myself and what I've learned to
[2:56] Speaker 2: say to myself is this is happening to me because
[3:01] Speaker 2: God is working me through something. This is happening to
[3:05] Speaker 2: me because it's some form of test that I have
[3:09] Speaker 2: to pass in order to graduate to the next grade.
[3:13] Speaker 2: in order to be allowed to move to the next level.
[3:16] Speaker 2: This is happening to me because there's something I need
[3:21] Speaker 2: to purge my life of, my body of, my spirit of.
[3:26] Speaker 2: Something's purging in me. And when you purge something, it's painful.
[3:31] Speaker 2: You know, it's like a person getting off drugs. The
[3:34] Speaker 2: withdrawal is painful. agonizing i've been told and every documentary
[3:40] Speaker 2: i've ever watched it it's an agonizing process to go
[3:44] Speaker 2: cold turkey to withdraw to pull away after you've been
[3:48] Speaker 2: doing something so long and so i know that this
[3:53] Speaker 2: process is tough when you're going through some pain but
[3:58] Speaker 2: when you're purging your system when you're having to pass
[4:03] Speaker 2: a test, when you're about to make, when you're being
[4:08] Speaker 2: made ready for the next level, that moment right in there,
[4:12] Speaker 2: in realizing that that's what's happening, that's where you find
[4:16] Speaker 2: the gratitude. That's where I found the gratitude. I hope
[4:20] Speaker 2: I'm explaining this correctly. I'm going to keep trying until
[4:22] Speaker 2: I get it. But that's where you find the gratitude.
[4:26] Speaker 2: The second part of it is, is that God has
[4:32] Speaker 2: never left me in all the things I've done in
[4:36] Speaker 2: all the mistakes I've made, all the lies I've told,
[4:41] Speaker 2: all the situations I've gotten myself into from being greedy
[4:45] Speaker 2: and wanting too much for me at the expense sometimes
[4:52] Speaker 2: of other people, not doing it deliberately or in a
[4:57] Speaker 2: vindictive way. Cause I've never had that spirit. I'm not a,
[5:01] Speaker 2: vindictive or mean person, but sometimes in my life in
[5:06] Speaker 2: wanting to do what I wanted to do, I didn't
[5:10] Speaker 2: totally weigh out the cause and effect of the other person.
[5:14] Speaker 2: I mean, can I just be real with you with that?
[5:17] Speaker 2: I mean, how many times we done all done that? Look,
[5:19] Speaker 2: it doesn't, you don't make you a bad person. You know,
[5:22] Speaker 2: the good people do bad things all the time. I
[5:26] Speaker 2: just happened to have come to the realization that unknowingly,
[5:31] Speaker 2: And not with malice intent towards a person. I've heard
[5:39] Speaker 2: people looking at something I wanted to do without really
[5:44] Speaker 2: looking at what the cause and effect would be on
[5:47] Speaker 2: the other person. So in doing some of these things,
[5:51] Speaker 2: I've created situations for myself. But God, through his grace
[5:56] Speaker 2: and mercy, has allowed me to even get beyond that.
[6:00] Speaker 2: So what I'm saying is God has never left me
[6:03] Speaker 2: in spite of myself. He's always gotten me through. So
[6:07] Speaker 2: that's the other part of it, too. See that no
[6:10] Speaker 2: matter what you're going through, you've got to understand that
[6:13] Speaker 2: God has always gotten you through it. Now, hasn't he? Now,
[6:16] Speaker 2: it may not be the way you want it or
[6:18] Speaker 2: the way you like. But guess what? You can't do
[6:21] Speaker 2: wrong and not pay for that. Now that that's not
[6:24] Speaker 2: how this works. That's never going to be the case.
[6:27] Speaker 2: But the great thing about God is he fires warning
[6:30] Speaker 2: shots at us all the time. He gives us an
[6:32] Speaker 2: opportunity to stop. You know, he don't fully punish us
[6:36] Speaker 2: right away every time we do something wrong. Now, does he?
[6:40] Speaker 2: You know, eventually you're going to get caught doing whatever
[6:43] Speaker 2: it is you're doing. You do understand that, don't you?
[6:46] Speaker 2: But the first time that close call, that was a
[6:49] Speaker 2: warning shot for you to stop. Look, I know you're
[6:52] Speaker 2: not perfect. I know we all sinners down here. So
[6:55] Speaker 2: I know you're going to make mistakes one time. I
[6:57] Speaker 2: know you was looking at her when you weren't supposed to.
[6:59] Speaker 2: I know you said something to him when you wasn't
[7:01] Speaker 2: supposed to. I know you got with her when you
[7:04] Speaker 2: know you weren't supposed to. And I know you got
[7:07] Speaker 2: with him when you know you weren't supposed to. So
[7:09] Speaker 2: I tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going
[7:10] Speaker 2: to fire a warning shot. And maybe you'll slow your
[7:12] Speaker 2: roll this time. But we keep on, though. See, see, see,
[7:16] Speaker 2: that's what happens. See, we just keep on. And then
[7:19] Speaker 2: the next thing you know, we get caught. Now, oh, Lord,
[7:23] Speaker 2: have mercy. I want out of this. Yeah, well, see,
[7:25] Speaker 2: you done dug this hole pretty deep. And he going
[7:28] Speaker 2: to get you out. But there's some things that's got
[7:31] Speaker 2: to go down now because you didn't pay attention to
[7:34] Speaker 2: the warning shot. See, had you stopped the first time
[7:36] Speaker 2: you felt bad about it and said you wasn't going
[7:38] Speaker 2: to do it no more, the situation wouldn't be as critical.
[7:41] Speaker 2: But because we don't stop and we go again. But
[7:44] Speaker 2: God always forgives. He always allows us to get back
[7:51] Speaker 2: up again. He always gives us mercy. He always gives
[7:56] Speaker 2: us his grace. He always does that. You're listening to
