[0:00] Speaker 1: Come on. Do your thing, Big Daddy.
[0:03] Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
[0:03] Speaker 1: I sure will.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Good morning, everybody. You are listening to The Voice. Come on,
[0:08] Speaker 2: dig me now. One and only, Steve Harvey. Got a
[0:12] Speaker 2: radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man. You know what, y'all?
[0:18] Speaker 2: I mean, really, the goodness of God is overwhelming if
[0:21] Speaker 2: you think about it. I mean, really, really think about it.
[0:26] Speaker 2: Even when your circumstance... doesn't look so bright. Even when
[0:31] Speaker 2: you're going through something that's causing you discomfort, pain, even
[0:37] Speaker 2: in that.
[0:39] Speaker 1: God's goodness is.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Actually overwhelming because don't forget why you're going through this moment.
[0:48] Speaker 1: First of all, this too shall pass.
[0:50] Speaker 2: But also secondly, remember man, ain't everything else that you've
[0:55] Speaker 2: gone through that seems so insurmountable at the time. Didn't
[0:59] Speaker 2: you get past that too? I mean, it's amazing if
[1:04] Speaker 2: you really think about it. You don't get stuck on
[1:07] Speaker 2: any one issue your whole life. The only people that
[1:11] Speaker 2: get stuck on an issue their whole life is people
[1:15] Speaker 2: who won't let it go. That's really all it is.
[1:18] Speaker 2: There are people who exist and you may be one
[1:21] Speaker 2: of them. Oh, please know I've been guilty of it
[1:24] Speaker 2: myself before. But I learned something. There are things in
[1:29] Speaker 2: my past that I just would not let go of.
[1:32] Speaker 1: It was done. It was over with. I was past it.
[1:36] Speaker 1: But I, I would not let go of it. It
[1:40] Speaker 1: was over.
[1:41] Speaker 2: The dude that did it to me didn't exist no more.
[1:44] Speaker 2: The problem that it created didn't exist no more. The
[1:47] Speaker 2: only problem that kept hanging on was I would not
[1:51] Speaker 2: let it go. And man, you can't go forward if
[1:56] Speaker 2: you're going to keep looking in the past. It's an
[1:58] Speaker 2: impossible thing. It's like driving a car. If you keep
[2:03] Speaker 2: looking only in the rearview mirror while you're driving, you're
[2:06] Speaker 2: going to crash pretty soon. And a lot of people
[2:09] Speaker 2: just keep crashing over and over and over and over
[2:14] Speaker 2: because you won't drive your car. You keep looking in
[2:17] Speaker 2: the rearview mirror at the past.
[2:20] Speaker 1: Oh, woe is me.
[2:22] Speaker 2: Oh, you know, they did me like that. You know,
[2:24] Speaker 2: I ain't been the same since he cheated on me. Oh, man,
[2:27] Speaker 2: ever since she stole my money, I ain't been the same. Man,
[2:31] Speaker 2: she played me. And ever since that, I done treated
[2:33] Speaker 2: women differently. You may have some deeper stuff going on.
[2:37] Speaker 2: But eventually, guess what? Do you understand that when you
[2:41] Speaker 2: have a relationship with God, you can take that to
[2:44] Speaker 2: him too and drop it off and leave it there?
[2:49] Speaker 2: Do you know that he can fix and heal that?
[2:52] Speaker 2: Maybe it's something serious like that that you need fixing
[2:55] Speaker 2: or healing from.
[2:56] Speaker 1: A relationship with God can fix and heal that.
[3:00] Speaker 2: But, man, come on, y'all, whatever it is, and I'm
[3:04] Speaker 2: not trying to downplay it or make it act like
[3:07] Speaker 2: it wasn't traumatic in your life because, oh, God, you
[3:10] Speaker 2: don't want nobody to do that to you because you
[3:13] Speaker 2: want to be the poster child for misery. So please
[3:18] Speaker 2: don't let me take that from you. If that's your position,
[3:21] Speaker 2: that's your Hall of Fame card you hanging on to.
[3:24] Speaker 2: I'm the poster child for misery. Oh, no one is
[3:28] Speaker 2: more woe than me. Then please don't let Steve try
[3:32] Speaker 2: to take that from you. You go ahead and hang
[3:34] Speaker 2: on to that. But let me tell you something, though.
[3:37] Speaker 2: If that's what you're going to hang on to, that's
[3:39] Speaker 2: what you're going to always be. The poster child for misery.
[3:42] Speaker 2: At one point in time, you're going to have to
[3:44] Speaker 2: get on and move past it. Sometimes, man, it's merely
[3:48] Speaker 2: a simple thing of taking it to God and leaving
[3:50] Speaker 2: it there. You know, some people don't have money for therapy.
[3:55] Speaker 2: Some people don't even know who to call for therapy.
[3:58] Speaker 2: God is the best psychologist in the world. He can
[4:02] Speaker 2: fix it for you. There is nothing too hard for God.
[4:06] Speaker 2: You know, when something seems impossible, y'all, God does the
[4:09] Speaker 2: impossible all the time, every day.
[4:12] Speaker 1: You want to know how I know? I just look
[4:15] Speaker 1: at a couple of basic things. Do you know that
[4:17] Speaker 1: that sun comes up every day in the morning? It
[4:19] Speaker 1: comes up in the east and it sets in the west.
[4:22] Speaker 1: You can't do nothing about that.
[4:25] Speaker 2: All you can you can wish because you planted your
[4:27] Speaker 2: flowers on a certain side.
[4:29] Speaker 1: Of your house.
[4:29] Speaker 2: You can wish all you want. Then maybe one day
[4:32] Speaker 2: he would bring it up out the northwest. So those
[4:34] Speaker 2: flowers would. No, no, it's going to come up out
[4:36] Speaker 2: the east. And once the sun hits the horizon, when
[4:40] Speaker 2: you look in the water, like if you are out
[4:42] Speaker 2: in L.A. and you see the sun going down, once
[4:45] Speaker 2: the sun, once you can visually see the sun touching
[4:48] Speaker 2: the horizon, you have three minutes. You have exactly three minutes.
[4:53] Speaker 2: You can sit there with your watch. You can time.
[4:55] Speaker 2: You have three minutes and it's gone. Three minutes is gone.
[5:00] Speaker 2: I read that somewhere and then I went and tried it.
[5:03] Speaker 2: It's gone every day. If it was clear enough, not cloudy.
[5:07] Speaker 2: Once the sun touches the horizon on water, you got
[5:11] Speaker 2: three minutes. When the wind blows, you can't do nothing
[5:15] Speaker 2: about it. He can bring it from the northeast. He
[5:17] Speaker 2: can bring it from the west. He can bring it
[5:19] Speaker 2: from the south. He can bring it hard. He can
[5:21] Speaker 2: bring it cool. He can bring it hot. It's certain
[5:23] Speaker 2: things that God does the impossible all the time. How
[5:27] Speaker 2: those stars sitting up there. How can you find these constellations?
[5:32] Speaker 2: The Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, Orion the Hunter.
[5:34] Speaker 1: Oh, that's God.
[5:35] Speaker 2: There's nothing you can do about it. You can't reach
[5:38] Speaker 2: them stars. You can't shoot at them. You can't move
[5:40] Speaker 2: them out the way. Orion the Hunter's belt is going
[5:43] Speaker 2: to beat them three stars at an angle. You can
[5:45] Speaker 2: call it what you want to call it. Still, that's
[5:47] Speaker 2: what it is. See, he does the impossible all the time.
[5:51] Speaker 2: He created heaven and earth. You're saying that God can't
[5:55] Speaker 2: get you through your past. Somebody did this to me.
[5:59] Speaker 2: It's the worst thing. I had the worst childhood of anybody.
[6:02] Speaker 2: God can't get you past that. He can move heaven, mountains, earth.
[6:07] Speaker 2: He can form the Grand Canyon. He can make the
[6:10] Speaker 2: water come over Niagara Falls 24-7. He can't fix your
[6:15] Speaker 2: little bitty past yours. It's amazing how people make their
[6:20] Speaker 2: problems bigger than God. Somebody told me one time, stop
[6:24] Speaker 2: telling God. how big your problems are, and start telling
[6:29] Speaker 2: your problems how big God is.
[6:33] Speaker 1: And go on with your life.
[6:35] Speaker 2: Quit driving your car looking in the rearview mirror. Ain't
[6:39] Speaker 2: nothing back there but your past. And if it was
[6:41] Speaker 2: hurtful or painful or something you just felt like you
[6:45] Speaker 2: can't get over, take your problems to God and leave
[6:48] Speaker 2: them there. You hear the old spiritual, all you've heard it.
[6:51] Speaker 2: Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.
[6:54] Speaker 1: You hear it all the time. But you think that
[6:56] Speaker 1: applies to everyone but you? Come on, man.
[7:00] Speaker 2: A lot of people out there going through much worse
[7:02] Speaker 2: than you have and have overcome it all. Why won't
[7:05] Speaker 2: you take the step to overcome your past so you
[7:08] Speaker 2: can get on with driving your car and see what
[7:10] Speaker 2: God trying to take you?
[7:12] Speaker 1: But it's a trick of the enemy.
[7:14] Speaker 2: The enemy tricks you from seeing your future by having
[7:17] Speaker 2: you constantly looking in your past.
[7:20] Speaker 1: Man, it's a trick of the devil.
[7:22] Speaker 2: If the devil just let you quit, if he would
[7:24] Speaker 2: just let you get to drive in your car and
[7:27] Speaker 2: look out into your future, your future shows hopefulness. You
[7:32] Speaker 2: have hope when you see the future. But he can
[7:35] Speaker 2: keep you in misery if he keep you looking at
[7:38] Speaker 2: your miserable past. God looking for you, man. God would
[7:42] Speaker 2: love to hear from you. Let's spend some time talking
[7:46] Speaker 2: to God today.
[7:47] Speaker 1: Hey, God, what's happening? It's me.
[7:50] Speaker 2: I know I ain't talk to you in a while,
[7:51] Speaker 2: but I feel bad about that, but I need you.
[7:55] Speaker 1: He know that. Everybody should say that prayer all the time.
[7:58] Speaker 1: It's cool. All right. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
[8:01] Speaker 1: Morning Show.
