[0:00] Speaker 1: ZM's Bray and Clint podcast.
[0:03] Speaker 2: Play ZM's Bray and Clint. ZM's Bray and Clint, thanks
[0:06] Speaker 2: to KFC.
[0:11] Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
[0:12] Speaker 2: It's Friday.
[0:14] Speaker 3: Make some noise for the original ZM's Bray and Clint.
[0:20] Speaker 2: Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the Bree and Clint show.
[0:24] Speaker 2: With no Bree, she's taken a long, long weekend. Her
[0:27] Speaker 2: family are over from Australia, so she's going to spend
[0:30] Speaker 2: some time with them. I am back from Christchurch. I
[0:33] Speaker 2: went to the cricket last night at Hagley Oval. How
[0:37] Speaker 2: good is Christchurch at the moment? My God, the weather
[0:40] Speaker 2: down there yesterday was like 27 degrees. Degrees? Yeah, and
[0:45] Speaker 2: all I packed was jeans, so that was good. Cricket
[0:48] Speaker 2: was incredible. And then I flew back this morning. I've
[0:52] Speaker 2: been judging a school speech competition, which you guys called
[0:56] Speaker 2: me a nerd for, which I didn't appreciate.
[1:01] Speaker 4: We're just saying it how it is, bro.
[1:03] Speaker 2: It's not. It's contributing to the community, okay?
[1:06] Speaker 4: It's two of your favourite things, though. Talking and judging.
[1:11] Speaker 2: Well, shout out to all the kids in the speech commission.
[1:13] Speaker 2: You guys did such a great job. Today on the show,
[1:16] Speaker 2: we have our final double pass to give away to
[1:18] Speaker 2: Laneway 2027. We'll do that at five o'clock with Split
[1:21] Speaker 2: or Steal. Is someone going to be brave enough to
[1:25] Speaker 2: steal both of the laneway tickets today? That's the big question.
[1:28] Speaker 2: Only one person out of the four rounds that we've
[1:30] Speaker 2: done has said steal. I'm not saying you need to
[1:32] Speaker 2: do that. I'm just saying if you want to do that,
[1:35] Speaker 2: two tickets is better than one ticket, you know? And
[1:37] Speaker 2: there's no judgement. Not from us. So 5 to 5,
[1:41] Speaker 2: the activator for free laneway tickets will happen. As you
[1:44] Speaker 2: hopefully head away for your long weekend, let's do a
[1:46] Speaker 2: tradie versus lady. I need one tradie and one lady
[1:49] Speaker 2: on 0800 dial ZM who want to play with us.
[1:52] Speaker 2: Tradies are still way up. It's 93-84 to the tradies.
[1:56] Speaker 2: But that could change, and it could change today.
[1:58] Speaker 5: Play ZM's Bree and Clint.
[2:00] Speaker 6: This is the main event.
[2:04] Speaker 2: Tradie versus ladies. When will the gap close in tradie
[2:11] Speaker 2: versus lady? It's kind of been the same for a
[2:14] Speaker 2: little while now, although we do have an update on
[2:15] Speaker 2: those scores that I read out before. It's actually tradies 93,
[2:19] Speaker 2: ladies 85. So they've closed it to an eight-point game,
[2:23] Speaker 2: the ladies, but they're still behind. And let's see how
[2:25] Speaker 2: today goes. Our lady is in Auckland. She's 39, and
[2:28] Speaker 2: she's driving to Papamoa at the moment. Welcome to the show, Hannah.
[2:33] Speaker 7: Hi.
[2:34] Speaker 2: Long, long weekend?
[2:35] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[2:36] Speaker 2: Sure is. Hell yeah.
[2:37] Speaker 3: Now we're on our way.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Oh, how good. Great weather for it. Stoked for you guys. Beautiful. Yeah.
[2:43] Speaker 2: You're taking on our tradie from Huntley. He's 18 and
[2:45] Speaker 2: he has a long mullet. Welcome to the show, Mason. Archer. Yeah, Archer.
[2:53] Speaker 2: Do you grease that thing up, Mason, or do you
[2:55] Speaker 2: let it flow all natural?
[2:57] Speaker 7: No, it's naturally greased up, mate.
[2:59] Speaker 2: Naturally greased up. How often do you wash your mullet? Oh,
[3:02] Speaker 2: not that often. Do you deep condition it? Oh, every
[3:05] Speaker 2: now and then. Every now and then. Yeah, see, self-care.
[3:08] Speaker 2: All right, Mason, your buzzer's tradie. Hannah, your buzzer's lady.
[3:12] Speaker 2: The first of three correct answers gets the win and
[3:15] Speaker 2: the 50 bucks thanks to KFC. Good luck, guys. Question
[3:18] Speaker 2: number one. Easy question. What is the name of our
[3:20] Speaker 2: national men's rugby team? Tradie. Lady. Mason with the mullet.
[3:26] Speaker 5: All Black.
[3:26] Speaker 7: Correct.
[3:27] Speaker 2: Question number two. Colleen Hoover, Stephen King and Frida McFadden
[3:32] Speaker 2: are all famous what?
[3:36] Speaker 1: Brady.
[3:37] Speaker 2: Mason.
[3:38] Speaker 5: Actors.
[3:39] Speaker 2: What did you say? Actors?
[3:41] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Hannah. Colleen Hoover, Stephen King and Freda McFadden are famous what? Authors? Yeah, authors.
[3:50] Speaker 2: Well done. Question number three. Who sings this song? Maybe. Hannah,
[3:58] Speaker 2: it's your generation. Oh, um.
[4:03] Speaker 7: R. Kelly?
[4:03] Speaker 2: No. No, we're contractually prevented from doing an R. Kelly
[4:07] Speaker 2: song in Tradie vs.
[4:08] Speaker 1: Lady.
[4:09] Speaker 2: Mason, do you want a free guess? Nah, wouldn't have
[4:12] Speaker 2: a clue. That's Nelly, guys. Who will be disgusted at
[4:19] Speaker 2: being confused for R. Kelly? All right, still one apiece.
[4:25] Speaker 2: Let's go to question number four. In the beloved animated
[4:27] Speaker 2: movie Shrek, what kind of creature is Shrek?
[4:32] Speaker 7: Lady.
[4:33] Speaker 2: Can't split you. So we'll move on. He's an ogre.
[4:36] Speaker 2: Who was the very first president of the United States?
[4:40] Speaker 3: Brady.
[4:41] Speaker 2: Mason.
[4:41] Speaker 1: Next one.
[4:45] Speaker 2: No. Hannah. First president of the United States.
[4:52] Speaker 4: First president of the United States.
[4:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the one you're thinking of. I'll give you three.
[4:57] Speaker 7: Two.
[4:59] Speaker 2: No. One. Have you got it, Mason? I'm running out
[5:02] Speaker 2: of questions. What have you got? Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein
[5:05] Speaker 2: is a fantastically wrong answer. It's George Washington, guys. What
[5:11] Speaker 2: are we at? Are we at? We're still at one all,
[5:13] Speaker 2: aren't we? Okay, how many questions do I have left?
[5:16] Speaker 2: I've got one, two, three. Oh, yeah, we can still
[5:19] Speaker 2: get this decided. What is the name of Barbie's iconic
[5:22] Speaker 2: long-term male companion?
[5:24] Speaker 7: Lady. Hannah.
[5:26] Speaker 2: Hannah. 10.
[5:27] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[5:28] Speaker 2: The next Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles,
[5:31] Speaker 2: California in what year? Maybe. Hannah, for the win. 28.
[5:39] Speaker 2: 2028's correct. That was fun. Hannah, you get the 50 bucks.
[5:48] Speaker 2: Thanks to KFC to spend at the beach in Papamoa
[5:50] Speaker 2: this weekend. Well done.
[5:51] Speaker 1: Do not wait.
[5:52] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[5:52] Speaker 4: And can we say hi to my kids, Charlotte and Louis,
[5:55] Speaker 4: in the car?
[5:56] Speaker 2: Hell yeah. Hi, Charlotte and Louis. Mason, you got any shout-outs?
[5:59] Speaker 1: To the boys.
[6:00] Speaker 2: To the boys. The boys. Thanks, man. That's Tradie versus Lady.
[6:04] Speaker 2: Ladies get a much needed win. Someone's texted and asked
[6:10] Speaker 2: me to do a traffic report. And that's actually not
[6:12] Speaker 2: a skill that I have in my broadcasting repertoire. I
[6:15] Speaker 2: don't think I've ever done a traffic report before. So
[6:19] Speaker 2: I can crowdsource it. If you tell me where the
[6:22] Speaker 2: traffic is bad and you text it in, I might
[6:23] Speaker 2: be able to say it. But yeah.
[6:26] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[6:26] Speaker 2: If you're not in traffic, you don't really care, do you?
[6:29] Speaker 2: I was in an Uber last night, and it was
[6:31] Speaker 2: the third time that I saw this thing in an
[6:33] Speaker 2: Uber that I've only started seeing recently. And I'm interested
[6:36] Speaker 2: to know if you guys listening and you producers have
[6:38] Speaker 2: ever seen this before. Most Ubers are a what type
[6:42] Speaker 2: of car?
[6:43] Speaker 7: Prius.
[6:43] Speaker 2: Oh, sorry. Prius.
[6:47] Speaker 6: Okay.
[6:47] Speaker 2: Wouldn't you say Prius? Yeah.
[6:48] Speaker 4: White or silver Prius.
[6:50] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[6:50] Speaker 4: Generally.
[6:51] Speaker 2: Sometimes you get a red Prius.
[6:53] Speaker 1: Ooh.
[6:53] Speaker 2: Fancy. Yeah. I have gotten three Prius. What's the plural
[6:58] Speaker 2: of Prius? Prii?
[6:59] Speaker 4: Prii.
[7:00] Speaker 2: Three Prii recently. You know how they've got that screen?
[7:04] Speaker 2: And it shows you how much it's got like the
[7:05] Speaker 2: flow chart shows you how much of the battery is
[7:07] Speaker 2: going to the wheels, how much of the engine is
[7:10] Speaker 2: going to the wheels. And it's got that little flow chart.
[7:12] Speaker 4: So you spend your time watching when you're in the Uber.
[7:14] Speaker 2: Usually because I get car sick if I look at
[7:16] Speaker 2: my phone. I don't know if those screens are. finally breaking,
[7:19] Speaker 2: because most of the pre-I around the country, they've had
[7:22] Speaker 2: a hard life.
[7:23] Speaker 4: Yeah, they've done it rough.
[7:24] Speaker 2: They're Ubering their face off every day. I have now
[7:27] Speaker 2: gotten three Ubers in the last couple of weeks where
[7:30] Speaker 2: the driver has stuck a giant tablet, like an iPad
[7:34] Speaker 2: or a generic tablet, over the screen in the Uber,
[7:39] Speaker 2: and then on that screen, they're just playing YouTube videos.
[7:42] Speaker 8: What?
[7:43] Speaker 7: Whoa.
[7:43] Speaker 4: Behind their steering wheel?
[7:45] Speaker 2: Not behind their steering wheel, in the centre. In the centre,
[7:47] Speaker 2: so all the passengers can see the tablet.
[7:50] Speaker 4: Are the videos for them, or are they for you?
[7:52] Speaker 2: So this is what I don't know. This is what
[7:54] Speaker 2: I don't know. Last night on my way home from
[7:56] Speaker 2: the cricket, we got in this Uber, and it was
[7:57] Speaker 2: the largest of all the tablets I've seen glued to
[7:59] Speaker 2: the screen in an Uber. And it was on this
[8:03] Speaker 2: playlist of, I'm going to call it the worst AI
[8:07] Speaker 2: music I've ever heard in my life, except for maybe
[8:10] Speaker 2: this banger, the pirate song. Cannons rolled and the thunder rolled.
[8:14] Speaker 2: The kids too tall, his spirit bold.
[8:18] Speaker 5: No way.
[8:19] Speaker 6: Is this you in the Uber home?
[8:25] Speaker 2: This is us in the Uber home, yeah. Me and
[8:28] Speaker 2: Maddie were like, ooh, ooh, ooh. But I don't know
[8:35] Speaker 2: what has changed. I don't know if there's been some
[8:37] Speaker 2: kind of law change because I thought the driver wasn't
[8:40] Speaker 2: allowed to see any videos.
[8:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, that sounds incredibly dangerous.
[8:43] Speaker 2: There's so many screens in cars now that it's like...
[8:47] Speaker 2: It's kind of murky territory. Yeah. But YouTube videos.
[8:50] Speaker 4: The moving picture part seems like an easy distraction.
[8:53] Speaker 2: The Uber I got in on the way to the
[8:55] Speaker 2: airport from Auckland on Thursday morning, the person was watching
[8:58] Speaker 2: like a podcast.
[9:01] Speaker 1: Oh.
[9:01] Speaker 2: They were watching a podcast.
[9:03] Speaker 8: Why?
[9:04] Speaker 2: In the Uber.
[9:05] Speaker 4: That's the beauty of a podcast is that you can
[9:07] Speaker 4: just listen to it while you concentrate on the road.
[9:09] Speaker 2: And I get it. Driving is boring. Yeah, it is
[9:12] Speaker 2: pretty boring. Really boring. But you're the driver. You have
[9:16] Speaker 2: to focus.
[9:16] Speaker 4: You are responsible.
[9:17] Speaker 2: If you want it to be an entertainment thing, like
[9:18] Speaker 2: if you're trying to get five stars, put the screen
[9:21] Speaker 2: in the back.
[9:21] Speaker 4: I had that once. Someone, the first thing I did,
[9:23] Speaker 4: I hopped in the car and he handed me his
[9:25] Speaker 4: little tablet and it had YouTube loaded up and he
[9:28] Speaker 4: was like, pick your playlist, pick whatever you want, load
[9:30] Speaker 4: up a video. And it was in the back with me.
[9:32] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[9:33] Speaker 4: This is amazing.
[9:33] Speaker 2: I got in an Uber one time. It was a
[9:35] Speaker 2: van and he had a full karaoke set up.
[9:37] Speaker 4: Yeah. That's amazing.
[9:39] Speaker 2: And he had a microphone and you and your friends
[9:41] Speaker 2: could pick a karaoke song and there were like LED
[9:44] Speaker 2: lights going around in the back of the van. It
[9:45] Speaker 2: was sick.
[9:46] Speaker 4: I'd be like, hey, give me a second. I just
[9:47] Speaker 4: need to change my destination and make it.
[9:49] Speaker 2: Way further away. We're not going to clubs anymore. We're
[9:52] Speaker 2: just driving around in this Uber.
[9:53] Speaker 3: My craziest Uber was a Tesla. Now you can see
[9:56] Speaker 3: when the car drives, but it was like Rainbow Road themed.
[10:00] Speaker 2: Like Mario Kart.
[10:01] Speaker 3: Yeah, and I was like severely hungover watching this at
[10:03] Speaker 3: 5 a.m.
[10:04] Speaker 2: And I was like, whoa. But again, hugely distracting for
[10:08] Speaker 2: the driver. Definitely. Because I would feel like I was
[10:10] Speaker 2: playing Mario Kart in real life.
[10:12] Speaker 4: This isn't real.
[10:13] Speaker 2: You know? We've got a text here from Ricky. It says,
[10:15] Speaker 2: as a prior pre-I owner, the screens don't do well
[10:19] Speaker 2: in the heat sometimes. So they could be bugging out
[10:21] Speaker 2: and they don't want you to see it. I get that.
[10:24] Speaker 2: But just like, it's very different. It's very different to
[10:26] Speaker 2: playing an entire YouTube video.
[10:28] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[10:29] Speaker 2: You know? I want to know. We're just going to
[10:32] Speaker 2: go around the room. I want to know what your
[10:34] Speaker 2: Uber driver was up to. My Uber driver's recently more
[10:37] Speaker 2: and more watching YouTube videos while driving. Some of them
[10:40] Speaker 2: putting on a karaoke video. Quite often having quite heated
[10:46] Speaker 2: conversations with family members through the Bluetooth earpiece. But if
[10:49] Speaker 2: you've seen something worth mentioning, I want to know. Hashtag
[10:54] Speaker 2: not all Uber drivers, by the way. But I personally
[10:57] Speaker 2: have been in three Ubers recently. where that has happened.
[11:00] Speaker 2: One of them was last night in Christchurch on the
[11:02] Speaker 2: way home from the cricket. Someone said, highly illegal to
[11:05] Speaker 2: play videos on a screen in the driver's field of view. Sorry.
[11:09] Speaker 2: And someone else said, please report the iPads and Ubers.
[11:13] Speaker 2: I was going to, and then I got distracted by
[11:16] Speaker 2: the pirate banger that he was playing. Kids too tall,
[11:18] Speaker 2: his spirit bold. Raise the flag, let the bass explode.
[11:24] Speaker 7: He's right.
[11:26] Speaker 2: I had this thought when he was playing his AI
[11:28] Speaker 2: pirate bangers. I was like, how can radio compete with this?
[11:33] Speaker 2: How can we compete with non-stop, unlimited AI pirate bangers
[11:38] Speaker 2: on an iPad in the Uber, you know? We're going
[11:41] Speaker 2: to have to diversify, guys. Anyway, we asked you guys,
[11:44] Speaker 2: what did you see inside an Uber? Someone said, I
[11:47] Speaker 2: had an Uber driver having a full-on conversation via video call.
[11:52] Speaker 2: I asked him to pull over to finish his call.
[11:55] Speaker 2: As respectfully, I had paid to get to my destination
[11:58] Speaker 2: with your full attention being on the road. He then
[12:01] Speaker 2: gave me the phone and said, okay, well, you talk
[12:03] Speaker 2: to them then. which is a power move from the
[12:07] Speaker 2: Uber driver. I told them he is working and he
[12:09] Speaker 2: will call them back later. Good on you, Dakin. Matt's here. Hi, Matt.
[12:15] Speaker 8: Hey, how are you going? Good.
[12:16] Speaker 2: Happy Labour long weekend. What did you see inside an Uber, Matt?
[12:21] Speaker 8: So I also experienced the iPad with the AI pirate thingies.
[12:28] Speaker 2: Okay. What city were you in?
[12:30] Speaker 8: I was in Auckland.
[12:31] Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Yeah.
[12:32] Speaker 8: The story I wanted to share was I live in Wellington.
[12:35] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[12:36] Speaker 8: And the Uber that was taking me to Auckland, it was,
[12:41] Speaker 8: I don't even think this car should have been on
[12:42] Speaker 8: the road. Like it was barely road legal.
[12:44] Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway.
[12:46] Speaker 8: Didn't get out, didn't help me with my bags and
[12:49] Speaker 8: all of that.
[12:49] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[12:50] Speaker 8: Anyway, I get into the Uber and at like max volume,
[12:53] Speaker 8: this guy's listening to an audio book. And just between
[12:58] Speaker 8: you and me, it was a little bit raunchy as well.
[13:01] Speaker 5: Yes.
[13:02] Speaker 8: D-grade version of, like, Fifty Shades of Grey.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Like, really, really loud.
[13:07] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[13:07] Speaker 8: He didn't speak to me the whole time.
[13:08] Speaker 7: No.
[13:09] Speaker 8: And it was, like, he's cheap. Like, he wasn't even
[13:12] Speaker 8: a subscriber because it's, like, to hear the rest of
[13:14] Speaker 8: the story.
[13:14] Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
[13:16] Speaker 8: It was so awkward.
[13:17] Speaker 2: He was on the povo version. An audio book, much
[13:20] Speaker 2: like a podcast, I feel is a one-person activity. That's
[13:22] Speaker 2: a solo activity.
[13:23] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[13:24] Speaker 2: So weird to make you feel like you're imposing on
[13:27] Speaker 2: his sexy book time while he's getting paid to drive
[13:31] Speaker 2: you around.
[13:32] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[13:33] Speaker 2: Wow. Okay. Actually, Matt, how many stars? How many stars
[13:37] Speaker 2: for that Uber driver?
[13:39] Speaker 8: Look, I should have given him a half a star,
[13:41] Speaker 8: but I'm not that savage.
[13:44] Speaker 2: Can you give a half star? I don't think you can. No,
[13:48] Speaker 2: and I don't think you can give no stars. I
[13:49] Speaker 2: think one star is about as low as you can go. Yeah, yeah, thanks, Matt.
[13:53] Speaker 2: Someone said there was a guy in the Uber I
[13:55] Speaker 2: was in that was watching live rugby on the iPad
[13:57] Speaker 2: thing and he was yelling at the team and he
[14:00] Speaker 2: kept swerving off the road and I asked him to
[14:02] Speaker 2: stop and he said, can you just mind your business?
[14:09] Speaker 2: And you go, no. I'm paying for this Uber. The
[14:12] Speaker 2: least I expect is you not to be watching rugby
[14:15] Speaker 2: while driving the Uber. Anyway, it's out there, guys, and
[14:17] Speaker 2: you have the power and the star rating. It is
[14:22] Speaker 2: Labor Day on Monday. It's the MPC final on Monday.
[14:25] Speaker 2: It's going to be a great day. But you, Grace,
[14:28] Speaker 2: new producer Grace, said there's another holiday today that people
[14:31] Speaker 2: are overlooking.
[14:32] Speaker 5: It's a very important holiday, especially that I'm new to
[14:35] Speaker 5: the show. I think it makes it even more important
[14:38] Speaker 5: to me.
[14:39] Speaker 2: Okay. All right.
[14:40] Speaker 4: Interesting.
[14:41] Speaker 3: So today is actually National Slap Your Coworker Day. And
[14:45] Speaker 3: it's actually National Slap Your Annoying Coworker Day.
[14:48] Speaker 4: And I've just joined, you know.
[14:50] Speaker 5: An important day for me as the new producer.
[14:53] Speaker 2: I don't feel comfortable slapping you.
[14:55] Speaker 5: That's not what I said.
[14:56] Speaker 2: I don't feel comfortable slapping you.
[14:58] Speaker 3: My thought is we all vote on who the annoying
[15:02] Speaker 3: co-worker is and they get slapped.
[15:04] Speaker 2: Okay. Well, Bree's not here, so you can't slap her.
[15:09] Speaker 2: She's not here.
[15:10] Speaker 4: So rude.
[15:11] Speaker 2: I know where this is going and I'm desperately trying
[15:13] Speaker 2: to avoid. Fine. There's only three of us. Let's vote
[15:19] Speaker 2: on who the most annoying co-worker is. Three, two, one.
[15:22] Speaker 7: Grace. Clint.
[15:24] Speaker 4: Don't choose Grace. That's so mean.
[15:26] Speaker 2: Because she's going to slap me. Why did you choose me? Fine,
[15:28] Speaker 2: come in here.
[15:29] Speaker 4: He's letting me.
[15:32] Speaker 2: I'm not doing this for nothing. You better be recording.
[15:34] Speaker 2: You recording? We're getting this on the cameras.
[15:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, we got it all.
[15:39] Speaker 2: And if you're going to slap me, I want you
[15:40] Speaker 2: to slap me, all right? No, I don't want to
[15:42] Speaker 2: slap you hard. If you're going to slap me, I
[15:44] Speaker 2: want you to properly slap me.
[15:46] Speaker 5: You also have to bend down.
[15:49] Speaker 2: Grace is a foot shorter than me.
[15:51] Speaker 8: All right.
[15:52] Speaker 5: Okay, I'm going to slap Clint.
[15:53] Speaker 2: Here we go.
[15:54] Speaker 4: I'll do it right in the... Wait, do you want
[15:56] Speaker 4: right or left hand?
[15:57] Speaker 2: I don't care.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Do you want my rings on or off?
[15:59] Speaker 2: I don't want to get slapped. I don't care. Just
[16:01] Speaker 2: do it.
[16:01] Speaker 5: No, I'll take my rings off.
[16:03] Speaker 2: All right.
[16:03] Speaker 4: Okay, guys.
[16:04] Speaker 5: I'm about to slap Clint. I took my rings off
[16:16] Speaker 5: and slapped him with.
[16:17] Speaker 4: The other hand.
[16:19] Speaker 2: Did you slap me with the ring hand?
[16:20] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[16:22] Speaker 2: You know what? I'm not feeling the freshest today. I
[16:24] Speaker 2: went to the cricket last night, flew home early this morning.
[16:26] Speaker 2: That actually kind of woke me up a bit. Do
[16:29] Speaker 2: you feel good? It's kind of refreshing.
[16:31] Speaker 3: And the fact that I'm a foot shorter than Clint.
[16:35] Speaker 2: All right, my turn. Here we go. No, just kidding.
[16:38] Speaker 2: Take your head off. All right, well, it's almost the
[16:41] Speaker 2: end of the workday. If you want to slap... Your co-worker,
[16:44] Speaker 2: you've got about an hour left.
[16:46] Speaker 4: ZM's Bree and Clint podcast. The Tea, live from LA
[16:50] Speaker 4: with Dean McCarthy.
[16:53] Speaker 2: Dean, who's the latest cast member of Cats to come
[16:56] Speaker 2: out and slag off the movie Cats? Oh, my goodness.
[17:00] Speaker 7: I don't even know if there's anyone left. But apparently
[17:02] Speaker 7: there is. Judi Dench.
[17:04] Speaker 2: We love her.
[17:05] Speaker 7: She has done a new memoir, Clint, and she said that, quote,
[17:09] Speaker 7: That movie was a waste of goodwill and a waste
[17:12] Speaker 7: of talent.
[17:13] Speaker 8: She can't even bear to watch it.
[17:14] Speaker 7: Do you know she's never seen it? She's never even
[17:17] Speaker 7: seen it. She said, and I believe her, like she's
[17:20] Speaker 7: not some shady celebrity just saying, you know, funny.
[17:23] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[17:24] Speaker 7: She hasn't seen it. It received a 17% Rotten Tomatoes review,
[17:28] Speaker 7: which is one of the lowest I can even remember
[17:30] Speaker 7: Rotten Tomatoes giving. We always forget, you know, Taylor Swift.
[17:34] Speaker 2: Was in that movie. That had a good budget.
[17:38] Speaker 7: It was a budget of almost $ 300 million and it lost.
[17:41] Speaker 2: Over $ 100 million.
[17:42] Speaker 8: When it was all said and done.
[17:44] Speaker 7: And she just said it was such a bad film.
[17:47] Speaker 8: But you know what she said? Look, we all did
[17:48] Speaker 8: our best.
[17:49] Speaker 7: No one wants to do a bad film.
[17:51] Speaker 4: But yeah, she still played out.
[17:54] Speaker 2: I haven't seen it. I've only seen clips of it.
[17:56] Speaker 2: I would not put myself through it. I think they
[17:58] Speaker 2: suffered from that thing. And a lot of live actions
[18:01] Speaker 2: have this issue where they tried to make them look
[18:03] Speaker 2: too realistic. Like they tried to make the cat version
[18:06] Speaker 2: of Taylor Swift look too human. Do you know what
[18:09] Speaker 2: I mean? Like there needed to be an element of
[18:11] Speaker 2: this is Taylor Swift in a costume, but they tried
[18:13] Speaker 2: to morph the two of them together. Kind of like
[18:15] Speaker 2: the live action version of Lion King where they're like,
[18:18] Speaker 2: this is Beyonce as a lion. You know what I mean? Yeah,
[18:23] Speaker 2: good example. Great example.
[18:24] Speaker 8: Yeah, I think you're right.
[18:25] Speaker 2: They either went.
[18:26] Speaker 7: Too far or not far enough.
[18:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're exactly right. It's either all cat or obviously
[18:32] Speaker 2: not a cat, I think. Yeah. This movie came out
[18:36] Speaker 2: seven years ago, and we're still on the radio slagging
[18:39] Speaker 2: off the movie Cats. That's the tea with Dean McCarthy.
[18:43] Speaker 5: The ZM Podcast Network.
[18:45] Speaker 2: Can you vote yet? Is the voting open? Can we
[18:47] Speaker 2: vote this weekend? Do you know how you can vote
[18:49] Speaker 2: before the election? Isn't it like two weeks until the
[18:51] Speaker 2: election now?
[18:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, what is it, November 8th?
[18:54] Speaker 2: Can we vote?
[18:55] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[18:55] Speaker 2: I was at the cricket last night in Christchurch, and
[18:58] Speaker 2: you know how they have a campaign to get people
[19:00] Speaker 2: to register to vote, and they use that orange guy?
[19:04] Speaker 2: I think they're running out of money because they just
[19:06] Speaker 2: put a guy in a morph suit, an orange morph suit,
[19:10] Speaker 2: which banned the morph suit.
[19:13] Speaker 4: Yeah, not good on anyone.
[19:15] Speaker 2: Particularly on a man. Particularly on a man. And it
[19:20] Speaker 2: just had a QR code on the front. I was like,
[19:22] Speaker 2: this is janky.
[19:23] Speaker 4: That could have been just a cardboard cutout.
[19:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, it could have been anything. It could have been
[19:28] Speaker 2: an animation. Yeah, I don't know. Anyway.
[19:30] Speaker 4: Maybe that was the real orange man.
[19:32] Speaker 2: We don't know. The sooner we can get this voting
[19:34] Speaker 2: crap out of the way and move on with our lives,
[19:36] Speaker 2: in my opinion, the better.
[19:37] Speaker 4: Very important, though. Make sure you've enrolled.
[19:40] Speaker 2: Shut up, Gloria.
[19:40] Speaker 4: You have to do it before the 25th, which is
[19:42] Speaker 4: in two days. Please enroll.
[19:43] Speaker 2: No, that is a good message.
[19:44] Speaker 4: It's sexy to vote.
[19:45] Speaker 2: It is sexy to vote. It is not sexy to
[19:48] Speaker 2: wear a morph suit.
[19:49] Speaker 4: No, that is not.
[19:50] Speaker 2: Sexy. That's a crime in 2026. Hey, big changes announced
[19:55] Speaker 2: today for Airbnbs, for people who stay in Airbnbs. They're
[19:58] Speaker 2: no longer allowed to put crazy cleaning rules on you
[20:02] Speaker 2: as the person who stays in the Airbnb. Hooray! I
[20:04] Speaker 2: always found it crazy that you pay people this crazy
[20:07] Speaker 2: amount of money to stay in their house, which is fair.
[20:10] Speaker 2: You charge whatever you want. You choose to pay it.
[20:12] Speaker 2: And then quite often you pay a cleaning fee on
[20:14] Speaker 2: top of that, which you don't do if you stay
[20:16] Speaker 2: in a hotel or a motel or a resort. And
[20:20] Speaker 2: then on top of that cleaning fee, they leave a
[20:23] Speaker 2: list of jobs for you to do before you leave
[20:25] Speaker 2: the Airbnb. What are you on about, brah?
[20:28] Speaker 4: Even washing the dishes. I'm like, I will do it
[20:30] Speaker 4: because I'm a nice person, but this shouldn't be part
[20:33] Speaker 4: of it.
[20:33] Speaker 2: I will stack the dishwasher. That's as far as I
[20:36] Speaker 2: will go. The rule changes from Airbnb. There's a few
[20:39] Speaker 2: of them. One of them, it says no more demanding
[20:41] Speaker 2: checkout chores. Hosts can no longer require guests to do
[20:45] Speaker 2: jobs like washing and putting away dishes or stripping the beds.
[20:49] Speaker 2: Reasonable requests like putting dishes in the sink, gathering up
[20:53] Speaker 2: used towels and sorting the rubbish is still allowed. That's okay.
[20:58] Speaker 2: And I feel like that's common decency.
[20:59] Speaker 4: Yeah, they're nice little basic cleanups.
[21:01] Speaker 2: Isn't it? You have to disclose the house rules up front.
[21:04] Speaker 2: Hosts have to clearly display the rules in a designated section.
[21:08] Speaker 2: So no animals, no parties. I feel like they already
[21:11] Speaker 2: do that.
[21:11] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[21:12] Speaker 4: They're pretty up front.
[21:13] Speaker 2: I feel like every Airbnb says no parties.
[21:15] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[21:16] Speaker 4: What else are you going to the Airbnb for?
[21:17] Speaker 2: What else am I going to your Airbnb for?
[21:19] Speaker 4: Not just staying the night.
[21:20] Speaker 2: Otherwise, I would stay in a hotel. And then some
[21:25] Speaker 2: other boring ones, but it's good. It's good because I
[21:29] Speaker 2: feel like, and not all Airbnb owners and not all
[21:32] Speaker 2: Booker Batch owners and not all... Vrbo owners or whatever
[21:36] Speaker 2: the other one is. They don't all do it, but
[21:38] Speaker 2: some of them really take the piss. I stayed in
[21:41] Speaker 2: a Booker Batch once, and after we left, we got
[21:44] Speaker 2: a fine and a shitty email from the lady because
[21:47] Speaker 2: we didn't clean the barbecue. But we didn't use the barbecue. Yeah.
[21:53] Speaker 4: That's brutal.
[21:54] Speaker 2: She went Karen on me. I went Kevin on her.
[21:57] Speaker 4: Good job.
[21:58] Speaker 2: And boof, I won. She was like, I'm so sorry.
[22:02] Speaker 4: How much was the fine?
[22:03] Speaker 2: $ 100.
[22:03] Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that's unnecessary.
[22:05] Speaker 2: $ 100, yep. And she was like, I'm so sorry, I've
[22:08] Speaker 2: removed the fine. And I was in real argument winning
[22:10] Speaker 2: mode and I went, nah, I'm paying it.
[22:12] Speaker 4: LAUGHTER This isn't about the money.
[22:17] Speaker 2: I had a friend stay in an Airbnb and they
[22:19] Speaker 2: had to clean the place afterwards, like properly clean it.
[22:22] Speaker 2: They said the place needs to be spotless. But on
[22:25] Speaker 2: top of that, they said that the guests had to
[22:28] Speaker 2: replace any cleaning products that they used.
[22:30] Speaker 8: What?
[22:31] Speaker 2: Isn't that insane? That's outrageous. And I think it's those requests,
[22:35] Speaker 2: those kind of rules, that are the reason for the change. Yeah.
[22:40] Speaker 2: So you use the handy-andy to clean the kitchen. And
[22:43] Speaker 2: then you have to go down to the store and
[22:45] Speaker 2: repurchase the.
[22:47] Speaker 4: Are rules like that in place so that the owner
[22:49] Speaker 4: doesn't have to hire a cleaner?
[22:50] Speaker 7: Yes.
[22:50] Speaker 4: Like if I get the guests?
[22:52] Speaker 2: I think the rules like that are in place so
[22:53] Speaker 2: the owner can put another person in straight away. Yeah.
[22:56] Speaker 2: So there's no downtime.
[22:57] Speaker 4: Just go clean your house or get someone to clean
[22:59] Speaker 4: your house.
[22:59] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[22:59] Speaker 4: Like that's part of the process.
[23:01] Speaker 2: Yeah. You're the one renting this house out.
[23:03] Speaker 4: Also, don't trust the strangers that are booking your house
[23:06] Speaker 4: to clean it well enough.
[23:07] Speaker 2: Also, you've got more than one house.
[23:09] Speaker 7: True.
[23:10] Speaker 2: I'm just borrowing one of your houses and paying you
[23:13] Speaker 2: for it. I want to know this afternoon, what did
[23:15] Speaker 2: the Airbnb host require you to do?
[23:17] Speaker 4: Do you remember that TikTok couple that got in trouble
[23:19] Speaker 4: where they were like, you cannot move the furniture and
[23:22] Speaker 4: a table moved like a centimetre and they're like, no,
[23:24] Speaker 4: we're fining them.
[23:25] Speaker 2: No.
[23:25] Speaker 4: You're not allowed to move the furniture.
[23:26] Speaker 2: Wow.
[23:27] Speaker 5: Yeah, crazy.
[23:29] Speaker 2: 0800 DARS at M, text it to 9696. It was unfair.
[23:32] Speaker 2: It was uncalled for. It was, frankly, ridiculous. The thing
[23:37] Speaker 2: the Airbnb host required you to do, either while you
[23:40] Speaker 2: were there or when you were checking out. It's ZM's
[23:43] Speaker 2: Brie and Clint podcast. Someone said you could just try
[23:47] Speaker 2: not being a dick and clean up after yourself and
[23:50] Speaker 2: treat the house like it's your own. And yeah, of course,
[23:53] Speaker 2: you're respectful while you were there, but I'm not doing
[23:56] Speaker 2: a full clean of someone else's house that I've paid
[24:00] Speaker 2: to stay in on top of a cleaning fee as well.
[24:03] Speaker 2: Like if you're paying for a cleaner, it just seems,
[24:05] Speaker 2: it just seems crazy. You can leave a hotel in
[24:07] Speaker 2: any state you want. Well, within reason, can't you? Diana
[24:11] Speaker 2: has texted in. Hi, Diana.
[24:12] Speaker 1: Hi, how's it going?
[24:13] Speaker 7: Good.
[24:14] Speaker 2: What did the Airbnb owner expect you to do, Diana?
[24:17] Speaker 1: Well, we're a group of, like, you know, girlfriends, not young,
[24:20] Speaker 1: you know, mature, sensible people.
[24:23] Speaker 2: Well, I hope.
[24:24] Speaker 1: And they had this white couch and then they had
[24:27] Speaker 1: signs next to it saying, please do not eat or
[24:29] Speaker 1: drink on the couch. And I mean, like, we're there
[24:32] Speaker 1: to enjoy ourselves and relax. We can't have a glass
[24:34] Speaker 1: of wine on the couch, sitting on the couch.
[24:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree. A white couch is a
[24:38] Speaker 2: crazy thing to have in a rental property anyway, you know? Absolutely.
[24:42] Speaker 1: Why would you just have a.
[24:45] Speaker 2: I always find it weird and not relaxing, the Airbnbs
[24:48] Speaker 2: that you go to where there's signs everywhere. Like they'll
[24:51] Speaker 2: put like a note on the bathroom mirror which says,
[24:53] Speaker 2: do not leave toothpaste on the mirror. They'll put a
[24:56] Speaker 2: sign on the toilet saying, don't flush your tampons and
[24:58] Speaker 2: all these kind of things. It's like, oh my God.
[25:00] Speaker 2: It's like that episode of The Simpsons where the Simpsons
[25:03] Speaker 2: family borrow Ned Flanders' batch. Do you remember that? And
[25:07] Speaker 2: they put labels on the ice tray.
[25:09] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[25:10] Speaker 1: It kind of just makes you want to do it
[25:11] Speaker 1: because they say don't do it.
[25:13] Speaker 2: It does, doesn't it? Anyway, were you a total badass
[25:15] Speaker 2: and did you have a glass of wine on the
[25:16] Speaker 2: white couch?
[25:17] Speaker 1: Oh, I might have.
[25:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, you did.
[25:19] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[25:19] Speaker 2: And you paid for it. No harm, no foul. We
[25:22] Speaker 2: asked what the Airbnb place asked you to do. Someone said,
[25:25] Speaker 2: my Airbnb expected me to feed the cat and feed
[25:28] Speaker 2: the dog and feed the fish. That's not Airbnb. That's
[25:34] Speaker 2: house sitting. That's someone paying you to come and house
[25:39] Speaker 2: sit at your house. Someone said, my last Airbnb experience
[25:43] Speaker 2: sent multiple requirements that read more like an essay than
[25:46] Speaker 2: anything else. But one particular role was no food to
[25:49] Speaker 2: be eaten on the carpeted areas. However, the dining room
[25:52] Speaker 2: table was on a carpeted area. The only uncovered areas
[25:58] Speaker 2: were the bathroom and the actual kitchen. So, yeah, what
[26:06] Speaker 2: do you do? My Airbnb turned out to be just
[26:08] Speaker 2: a room in someone's house, which wasn't obvious in the listing.
[26:12] Speaker 2: When I got there, they told me there was a
[26:14] Speaker 2: 9 p.m. curfew and we couldn't enter the house after
[26:17] Speaker 2: that time because they had kids. What are you doing
[26:22] Speaker 2: renting a room out in your house when you've got kids?
[26:25] Speaker 2: That's out the gate. I know those exist. I know
[26:28] Speaker 2: that there is like, I feel like they're less common
[26:30] Speaker 2: in New Zealand. Yeah. But overseas there is like, it's
[26:34] Speaker 2: like a sublet thing, right?
[26:35] Speaker 4: Like a homestay situation.
[26:36] Speaker 2: Homestay, yeah. And that could be nice. That's like.
[26:39] Speaker 4: Nice if you know about it.
[26:40] Speaker 2: That's the B & B bit, isn't it?
[26:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
[26:41] Speaker 2: That's the bed and breakfast bit.
[26:42] Speaker 4: Do you get the breakfast guaranteed though?
[26:45] Speaker 2: But go and stay with the family and you have
[26:46] Speaker 2: to do their house rules. And they're like in bed
[26:49] Speaker 2: by nine.
[26:49] Speaker 4: But it's a Saturday.
[26:51] Speaker 2: And no swear word TV shows. Less than a week
[26:56] Speaker 2: before the booking, the host emailed a guidebook with extra
[26:59] Speaker 2: fees and waivers that had to be signed before getting
[27:01] Speaker 2: instructions to turn the water on. They were crazy. They
[27:04] Speaker 2: were holding the water hostage. I'd be like, nah, I'm
[27:08] Speaker 2: not doing that.
[27:09] Speaker 4: No, I'm going to book something else.
[27:10] Speaker 2: Oh, I was going to say I'll bring my own water,
[27:12] Speaker 2: but yeah, yeah, good point. I like your idea better, Claudia.
[27:16] Speaker 4: What the hell? Brie and Clint's One Second Song Challenge.
[27:27] Speaker 2: No Brie today, so producer Grace is stepping up in
[27:30] Speaker 2: the One Second Song Challenge. Are you ready for this, Grace?
[27:33] Speaker 4: Absolutely not.
[27:34] Speaker 2: Absolutely not?
[27:35] Speaker 4: No.
[27:35] Speaker 2: That is the low confidence I'm looking for in opposition.
[27:39] Speaker 2: You will go head-to-head with me, and joining you on
[27:42] Speaker 2: that quest is Brianna. Hi, Brianna.
[27:44] Speaker 6: Hi.
[27:44] Speaker 2: Hi, you're with Grace.
[27:47] Speaker 7: Right.
[27:47] Speaker 2: Did you choose that?
[27:48] Speaker 6: Yep.
[27:49] Speaker 2: You did? Oh, yeah. Yes, you did.
[27:52] Speaker 7: Shame.
[27:52] Speaker 4: You weren't chosen.
[27:55] Speaker 2: Well, you're going to have to go through Mu and Melissa. Hi, Melissa.
[27:58] Speaker 1: Hi, how's it going?
[27:59] Speaker 2: Did you choose me?
[28:01] Speaker 4: Absolutely.
[28:02] Speaker 2: Thank you. One of you is lying. Claudia's in charge. Claudia?
[28:07] Speaker 2: Sure am.
[28:08] Speaker 4: Guys, this is the One Second Song Challenge. The way
[28:11] Speaker 4: it works is we're going to start a song from
[28:12] Speaker 4: the beginning of the song. You just need to buzz
[28:15] Speaker 4: in with your name and tell me the name of
[28:16] Speaker 4: the artist and the title of that song. The first
[28:19] Speaker 4: team to three points will take home the win. What's
[28:23] Speaker 4: your name again?
[28:23] Speaker 2: Grace. Clint.
[28:24] Speaker 4: I was going to say Brooke or Bree.
[28:26] Speaker 2: She's so inconsequential you don't even know her name.
[28:29] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not there yet. She's not on my radar yet.
[28:31] Speaker 4: She's new. Grace and Clint, you guys are going to
[28:34] Speaker 4: do the first round. Buds in with your name if
[28:36] Speaker 4: you know it. Are you ready?
[28:37] Speaker 2: Ready.
[28:38] Speaker 4: Theme today because five seconds of summer in town. They're
[28:40] Speaker 4: reclaiming the title of boy band. These are all boy bands.
[28:43] Speaker 5: Oh, I'm screwed.
[28:45] Speaker 8: Clint.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Clint.
[28:47] Speaker 2: The Wanted, Glad You Came.
[28:48] Speaker 4: Well done.
[28:48] Speaker 2: Make you glad you came. Do you know that song, Grace?
[28:56] Speaker 5: I know this song, but I didn't know it from
[28:57] Speaker 5: one second.
[28:58] Speaker 4: Well, that's the game.
[28:59] Speaker 2: That's the name of the game.
[29:00] Speaker 4: Okay, one point for Team Clint. So, Brianna and Melissa,
[29:06] Speaker 4: you're up next. Are you ready?
[29:08] Speaker 1: Absolutely.
[29:09] Speaker 7: Cool, here's your song.
[29:14] Speaker 2: Come on, Melissa. Oh, Brianna.
[29:18] Speaker 1: One Direction?
[29:19] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[29:19] Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. It's the one you're thinking of. It's that one.
[29:25] Speaker 8: I know.
[29:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, Melissa, do you want a free gift?
[29:29] Speaker 2: Do you want a Stella, Melissa?
[29:33] Speaker 8: That's... One Direction.
[29:34] Speaker 7: Oh, man. That's... Oh.
[29:36] Speaker 2: Are you going to take it?
[29:38] Speaker 4: I feel like it's close.
[29:39] Speaker 5: I'm going to go.
[29:40] Speaker 7: Give up.
[29:40] Speaker 2: Are you going to give up?
[29:41] Speaker 4: I'm going to be really generous.
[29:42] Speaker 2: Yeah!
[29:44] Speaker 4: That's not one of the words in the title. That's unfair.
[29:50] Speaker 4: I'm not happy.
[29:50] Speaker 2: What makes you beautiful is me. Melissa, you didn't even
[29:54] Speaker 2: get 50% of it and Claudia gave it to you.
[29:57] Speaker 7: Love you, Claudia.
[29:58] Speaker 2: Love you, Claudia.
[29:59] Speaker 4: Okay, we have two points for Team Clint now. So, Grace,
[30:04] Speaker 4: you need to get this one.
[30:05] Speaker 2: No pressure.
[30:07] Speaker 4: Grace and Clint, this is for you.
[30:09] Speaker 2: Clint, in sync, bye, bye, bye.
[30:11] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[30:12] Speaker 2: Bye, bye, Grace. Bye, bye, Grace. Melissa, we did it.
[30:22] Speaker 4: That's why I picked you.
[30:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, right?
[30:25] Speaker 4: Absolutely.
[30:26] Speaker 2: You knew and I knew. 50 KFC chicken dollars coming
[30:30] Speaker 2: your way for the long weekend. That's epic.
[30:33] Speaker 8: My son will be so stoked.
[30:34] Speaker 2: I'll say. It's all right, Grace, you're new.
[30:39] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm also not old, so.
[30:43] Speaker 2: Could you get the next one?
[30:46] Speaker 1: Grace.
[30:47] Speaker 4: Grace, yeah. Backstreet Boys.
[30:52] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[30:53] Speaker 5: I want it that way.
[30:55] Speaker 2: That one?
[30:56] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[30:58] Speaker 2: You said you're not old and then you got the
[31:00] Speaker 2: oldest one.
[31:02] Speaker 5: Maybe I am old.
[31:07] Speaker 2: Bree's away today, but our producer Grace was saying to
[31:09] Speaker 2: us before the show, you think, Grace, that you may finally,
[31:13] Speaker 2: at the age of 25, possess a fully formed frontal lobe. Yes.
[31:18] Speaker 5: I think for a woman it is 25.
[31:19] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[31:21] Speaker 5: But I think for men, is it 27 or 28?
[31:22] Speaker 2: Well, I've actually done some research on it. You are 25.
[31:26] Speaker 2: Tell me why you think your brain's fully developed.
[31:28] Speaker 3: Okay, I have a couple of things. Because, Clint, you're
[31:30] Speaker 3: the oldest person I know. I just wanted to double check.
[31:33] Speaker 4: I just wanted to double check.
[31:33] Speaker 2: That's not true. You know John O'Prior.
[31:37] Speaker 5: I don't know if I know him.
[31:38] Speaker 7: No.
[31:39] Speaker 4: You know Ben Boyce.
[31:42] Speaker 5: Are they not younger than you?
[31:44] Speaker 1: No. Whoa.
[31:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Crazy, eh?
[31:47] Speaker 5: Could never tell them.
[31:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the bleach.
[31:48] Speaker 7: Okay.
[31:50] Speaker 2: Okay, number one. It's the TikToks. They keep them young.
[31:54] Speaker 4: Please stop.
[31:55] Speaker 5: Okay, number one is that I'm into recycling.
[31:58] Speaker 2: You reckon your brain's fully developed because you're into recycling?
[32:00] Speaker 5: Because I care about recycling now.
[32:03] Speaker 2: Okay.
[32:03] Speaker 4: Do you not care about recycling?
[32:05] Speaker 2: No, I do, but I didn't know it was an
[32:06] Speaker 2: indicator of... Age, yes. Okay.
[32:09] Speaker 5: Number two, I'm getting into Candy Crush. Man, that's a
[32:12] Speaker 5: good game.
[32:14] Speaker 2: Okay.
[32:14] Speaker 5: But I only know older ladies who play it.
[32:17] Speaker 2: Me too. See what I mean? The only people I
[32:20] Speaker 2: know that are into Candy Crush, their phone doubles as
[32:23] Speaker 2: a wallet and it also has their FPOS cards and
[32:25] Speaker 2: their hop card inside it.
[32:26] Speaker 5: I'm not there yet, but my frontal lobe is developing.
[32:29] Speaker 2: Oh my God, I'm getting you a phone wallet for
[32:30] Speaker 2: your birthday. Please don't.
[32:32] Speaker 5: Number three is, guys, I don't have.
[32:33] Speaker 2: A purple one.
[32:35] Speaker 5: Okay, I kind of like that.
[32:36] Speaker 3: Number three is I don't have FOMO anymore.
[32:38] Speaker 4: I don't have FOMO. I don't care.
[32:41] Speaker 2: Yeah. This is actually a big one.
[32:43] Speaker 1: Really?
[32:43] Speaker 2: Because I no longer have FOMO. Well, that's actually not true.
[32:46] Speaker 1: Oh.
[32:47] Speaker 2: I have less FOMO.
[32:48] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[32:49] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[32:49] Speaker 5: Our frontal lobes developed at the same time, Clint.
[32:52] Speaker 2: Mine was at 39. Yours is at 25. Okay.
[32:54] Speaker 3: And my last reason is I like tea now. The
[32:58] Speaker 3: only people I know who like tea.
[33:00] Speaker 2: Old people.
[33:01] Speaker 4: Are old people.
[33:01] Speaker 2: Okay. Interesting hypothesis.
[33:04] Speaker 5: I think it's correct.
[33:05] Speaker 2: I have done a little bit of reading just now,
[33:07] Speaker 2: and it says that the human brain reaches its structural
[33:11] Speaker 2: and network maturity around the age of the early 30s,
[33:15] Speaker 2: specifically around 32, rather than stopping at 25 as widely popularized.
[33:20] Speaker 5: So my frontal lobe isn't developed.
[33:21] Speaker 2: Maybe not. Or you're ahead of the curve.
[33:24] Speaker 5: Candy Crush is telling me I'm ahead of the crib.
[33:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. What else? What are the other key
[33:28] Speaker 2: indicators of what else could you be into? Have your
[33:31] Speaker 2: television viewing habits changed?
[33:33] Speaker 3: I have started watching Coronation Street.
[33:36] Speaker 2: Have you been watching Matt Gibbs' Country House Hunters?
[33:39] Speaker 5: I do love the house hunting shows.
[33:41] Speaker 2: Oh, no, this is the real telling sign.
[33:44] Speaker 5: House hunting.
[33:44] Speaker 2: Not house hunting. It's the other one. Are you into
[33:47] Speaker 2: grand designs?
[33:48] Speaker 5: I love Grand Designs. Who doesn't love Grand Designs?
[33:51] Speaker 2: And no one under the age of 25 is into
[33:54] Speaker 2: Grand Designs. Oh, no, guys. Maybe it is. Oh, congratulations.
[33:57] Speaker 2: What are you going to do with your new fully
[33:59] Speaker 2: formed brain this weekend?
[34:01] Speaker 5: Stay in bed and do nothing.
[34:03] Speaker 2: That's what we do.
[34:05] Speaker 5: Exactly.
[34:05] Speaker 2: Welcome to the club. This is for anyone who is
[34:11] Speaker 2: in a long-term relationship or a marriage or anyone who's
[34:18] Speaker 2: not in a long-term relationship but wants their short-term relationship
[34:21] Speaker 2: to become long. How long have you and your boyfriend
[34:23] Speaker 2: been together, Producer Grace?
[34:25] Speaker 5: Next week is our anniversary, actually, and it's six years.
[34:28] Speaker 2: Wow.
[34:29] Speaker 8: I know.
[34:30] Speaker 2: You're only 25. I know. Where did you guys meet?
[34:33] Speaker 5: We met in uni.
[34:34] Speaker 2: At university.
[34:35] Speaker 5: He did radio too.
[34:36] Speaker 2: How long do you give it?
[34:38] Speaker 5: Until what? We break up?
[34:40] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[34:41] Speaker 2: The relationship.
[34:42] Speaker 4: How long do we give the relationship?
[34:43] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[34:44] Speaker 2: I feel like it's a pretty straightforward question.
[34:46] Speaker 6: A while.
[34:47] Speaker 2: A while?
[34:47] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[34:48] Speaker 2: Okay. Well, I've got some hacks for you that could help.
[34:52] Speaker 7: I'm ready.
[34:52] Speaker 2: I saw this person post this. It's a list of
[34:55] Speaker 2: relationship hacks. They were specifically for married people, but I
[34:59] Speaker 2: feel like it's the same thing.
[35:00] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[35:00] Speaker 2: Long-term relationship, married, it's just a bit of paper, right?
[35:03] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[35:04] Speaker 2: Okay, first hack that this person's posted. If your relationship
[35:07] Speaker 2: is getting a little stale... Start a feud with another couple.
[35:12] Speaker 2: Nothing restores solidarity like mutual enemies.
[35:16] Speaker 5: Love that.
[35:17] Speaker 2: Isn't it?
[35:18] Speaker 5: That is.
[35:19] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[35:20] Speaker 5: We love a little gossip sesh. Imagine if we're gossiping
[35:23] Speaker 5: about another couple.
[35:24] Speaker 2: Another couple is so fun too because you can be like,
[35:26] Speaker 2: oh my God, we wouldn't do that. We would never.
[35:30] Speaker 2: It's one thing to have a mutual enemy, but to
[35:31] Speaker 2: have a mutual enemy couple.
[35:33] Speaker 5: Is amazing to me.
[35:35] Speaker 2: Isn't it? I think it's good. I like it.
[35:36] Speaker 4: Good.
[35:38] Speaker 2: These are long-term relationship hacks. Similar to that, they said
[35:42] Speaker 2: hang out with some high-conflict, super dramatic people to give
[35:46] Speaker 2: you perspective and appreciation for each other and how low-maintenance
[35:51] Speaker 2: you guys are.
[35:51] Speaker 5: I always tell Jack, I'm like, I am easy. I'm low-maintenance.
[35:55] Speaker 4: Are you?
[35:56] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[35:56] Speaker 2: You are? Is he?
[35:57] Speaker 7: He is.
[35:58] Speaker 2: But it's not always the girl that's high-maintenance. It can
[36:00] Speaker 2: be the boy that's high-maintenance.
[36:02] Speaker 5: I am a bit of a diva, but I'm like chill.
[36:04] Speaker 2: You're a chill diva.
[36:05] Speaker 5: I'm a chill diva.
[36:06] Speaker 2: Okay.
[36:06] Speaker 3: Like I'll be like really dramatic about stuff, but like
[36:09] Speaker 3: I'm chill.
[36:10] Speaker 2: I think me too. I think I'm a chill diva. Yeah.
[36:12] Speaker 2: These are relationship hacks for people in long-term relationships. It
[36:15] Speaker 2: says if you and your partner suck at making low
[36:19] Speaker 2: stakes decisions, you need to have a predetermined outcome. For example,
[36:24] Speaker 2: if you can't decide on a TV show or a
[36:27] Speaker 2: movie in five minutes, that's how much time you give yourself.
[36:29] Speaker 2: You start a timer. If you can't decide in five minutes, boom,
[36:33] Speaker 2: you're watching Sharknado. It's a predetermined outcome. It motivates you
[36:37] Speaker 2: to push the conversation along. If you can't decide what
[36:40] Speaker 2: to get for dinner, what to have for dinner, you get,
[36:42] Speaker 2: I don't know, you can decide this in your own relationship,
[36:44] Speaker 2: 10 minutes to make a decision on what's for dinner.
[36:47] Speaker 2: And if you can't decide, boom, ice cream for dinner.
[36:49] Speaker 4: I kind of like it, yeah.
[36:51] Speaker 2: So it's kind of the looming threat of the thing
[36:54] Speaker 2: that you want or maybe don't want that pushes the
[36:56] Speaker 2: conversation along. Smart. Smart. I got one more relationship hack
[37:00] Speaker 2: for you before I want your relationship hacks. It says,
[37:02] Speaker 2: if your partner... If your partner is telling you a
[37:06] Speaker 2: super long and boring story, what you do is you
[37:10] Speaker 2: pretend that you died and you asked God for five
[37:14] Speaker 2: more minutes on earth with your loved ones. And this
[37:18] Speaker 2: is the five minutes that he gave you.
[37:20] Speaker 4: That's ridiculous.
[37:21] Speaker 2: And the five minutes is that long and boring conversation.
[37:24] Speaker 2: You change your perspective.
[37:25] Speaker 5: I just go, Jack, sum it up. Let's hurry this along.
[37:27] Speaker 2: You go, Jack, I've got five minutes left.
[37:29] Speaker 4: Five minutes left on this earth.
[37:31] Speaker 2: We can spend it doing this boring conversation or we
[37:33] Speaker 2: can do it watching Sharknado. Your choice.
[37:36] Speaker 4: This conversation.
[37:37] Speaker 2: Do you have, it doesn't have to be serious, but
[37:39] Speaker 2: it can be, do you have a relationship hack? Do
[37:42] Speaker 2: you have a thing that you think is the secret
[37:45] Speaker 2: to a long and happy relationship or the thing that
[37:49] Speaker 2: keeps your relationship interesting or the thing you wish you
[37:52] Speaker 2: had done that would have kept your relationship interesting? We
[37:56] Speaker 2: were talking about relationship hacks before. The number of people
[37:59] Speaker 2: who have messaged through to agree with the mutual enemy
[38:02] Speaker 2: hack is is a really good thing for you and
[38:04] Speaker 2: your partner to bond over. Like, it's not positive. It's not,
[38:07] Speaker 2: I guess it's not technically healthy, but it gives you
[38:11] Speaker 2: a shared interest, doesn't it?
[38:13] Speaker 3: I think it is a genius idea.
[38:15] Speaker 2: You said, Grace, that you and your partner don't have
[38:17] Speaker 2: a couple friend to hate. And I said, just pick
[38:19] Speaker 2: one on Instagram. Just pick a couple who put their
[38:21] Speaker 2: relationship all over Instagram. And then just hate from a distance.
[38:24] Speaker 2: And then you both follow them and then just send
[38:26] Speaker 2: each other their posts and hate from a distance.
[38:30] Speaker 4: I will do that tonight.
[38:31] Speaker 5: Starting tonight, I'm a hater.
[38:33] Speaker 2: We asked you guys what are the relationship hacks that
[38:35] Speaker 2: you have. Someone said, if we can't decide... because each
[38:38] Speaker 2: person has a different choice. We paper scissors rock it.
[38:41] Speaker 2: Different TV options, what to eat, no arguments. It's left
[38:44] Speaker 2: up to fate. I like that. That makes it fun.
[38:47] Speaker 2: That makes it a game. Then you go, oh, damn,
[38:49] Speaker 2: I guess we'll get my food next week. Although some
[38:51] Speaker 2: people are annoyingly good at rock, paper, scissors.
[38:53] Speaker 4: I was going to say, if you're really bad at
[38:54] Speaker 4: it and you lose every time, you're like, can we
[38:56] Speaker 4: just do my one this time, please?
[38:57] Speaker 2: If you know you're really good at rock, paper, scissors
[38:59] Speaker 2: or you know your partner's really bad at it, Then
[39:01] Speaker 2: put that in your relationship. Yeah, I'll put that in.
[39:03] Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
[39:04] Speaker 2: Relationship hacks. Someone said, my sisters are always complaining about
[39:08] Speaker 2: their other half's expensive or unhealthy habits and vices. I
[39:13] Speaker 2: can't relate because my partner and I are just as
[39:16] Speaker 2: bad as each other and we share all the same interests. See,
[39:19] Speaker 2: that's good. You met someone on your level, you know?
[39:24] Speaker 2: They can't complain about the stuff that you're doing, I guess.
[39:28] Speaker 2: Relationship hack. Someone said, I believe that in my relationship,
[39:31] Speaker 2: my partner has been so successful because partnership has been
[39:35] Speaker 2: so successful because I've always ensured that our friendship within
[39:38] Speaker 2: the relationship is strong. That and he always knows that
[39:41] Speaker 2: I am right. Okay. All right. I get it. Thank you.
[39:44] Speaker 2: Relationship hacks. Someone said, if you want to stop arguing
[39:49] Speaker 2: over small things, do what my partner and I did
[39:51] Speaker 2: and introduce a household Supreme Court. This is fun. You
[39:55] Speaker 2: each get three appeals of a decision that you don't
[39:58] Speaker 2: like each year. Once they're gone, the ruling on whether
[40:01] Speaker 2: we're getting the ugly curtains or another beer fridge downstairs
[40:04] Speaker 2: is final. So you put a Supreme Court in place.
[40:06] Speaker 4: That's so funny.
[40:07] Speaker 2: You get overruled. Shouldn't you be making decisions together, though?
[40:10] Speaker 4: Yeah, but some things you will never agree on. Like,
[40:12] Speaker 4: I never find any lamp attractive.
[40:16] Speaker 2: Any what attractive? Lamp.
[40:17] Speaker 4: Like, I will never find a lamp that I like.
[40:19] Speaker 2: This is boring millennial chat, but you are so right.
[40:23] Speaker 4: They're so ugly.
[40:23] Speaker 2: Where are all the good lamps?
[40:25] Speaker 4: They're just disgusting. I hate them.
[40:26] Speaker 5: I don't want to be here for this, Chas.
[40:28] Speaker 2: No, you're here. You're here.
[40:30] Speaker 5: I'm not grown up.
[40:31] Speaker 2: Where are the not ugly floor lamps? Genuinely, yes. Genuinely, yes.
[40:35] Speaker 4: They're in the 80s, apparently, or they're in the mid-century.
[40:40] Speaker 2: Someone said, if you want your partner to appreciate how
[40:42] Speaker 2: much you do around the house, just stop doing it
[40:44] Speaker 2: for a week, but don't announce it. That's passive aggressive.
[40:48] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not going to go well.
[40:50] Speaker 5: I love that.
[40:51] Speaker 2: But then they probably, there's a risk that they don't notice.
[40:55] Speaker 2: And they're like, you just start living in an absolute
[40:57] Speaker 2: rat-infested hellhole. And they're like, everything is fine. That meme
[41:01] Speaker 2: where the guy's in the house that's on fire and
[41:02] Speaker 2: he's like, this is fine. Everything's fine.
[41:05] Speaker 4: Everything is fine.
[41:07] Speaker 8: Zed Eames, Bray and Clint.
[41:09] Speaker 2: Still birthday banger. Your birthday banger is the number one
[41:16] Speaker 2: song on the day that you turned 16. We figure
[41:20] Speaker 2: it out and then we play the very best one
[41:22] Speaker 2: that we can find each afternoon in full. We'll go
[41:24] Speaker 2: to Emmaline first. Am I saying it right, Emmaline? It's Emmaline.
[41:30] Speaker 6: Emmaline.
[41:30] Speaker 2: Sorry, my bad. I've not heard that name before. Welcome
[41:34] Speaker 2: to the show. How is your long weekend shaping up?
[41:36] Speaker 2: What are you going to do?
[41:38] Speaker 7: Um... Good.
[41:39] Speaker 1: We're going to ride our horses.
[41:40] Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
[41:41] Speaker 6: Cool.
[41:42] Speaker 2: All right, let's do your birthday banger and see if
[41:43] Speaker 2: that can launch you into the long weekend. What's your
[41:46] Speaker 2: date of birth, Emmaline?
[41:47] Speaker 8: It's for my mum.
[41:49] Speaker 2: Oh, your mum's one? Yeah. Okay, what's mum's name? Charlotte. Charlotte. Okay,
[41:54] Speaker 2: what's Charlotte, your mum's date of birth?
[41:56] Speaker 8: 9th of January 1993 1983 1983 sorry.
[42:02] Speaker 2: Good work Emmaline mum Charlotte's birthday was 16th birthday was
[42:08] Speaker 2: in 1999 and on the 9th of January this was
[42:10] Speaker 2: number one what do you reckon Emmaline have you heard
[42:19] Speaker 2: the offspring pretty fly for a white guy no.
[42:22] Speaker 1: Does your mum know it.
[42:25] Speaker 2: You know what?
[42:27] Speaker 8: It's just an average.
[42:28] Speaker 2: It's just an average. All right. Noted. Wait there. We'll
[42:32] Speaker 2: do a birthday banger for Kelly. Where's Kelly at? There
[42:36] Speaker 2: you are. Hi, Kelly. Hi, guys. How's your long weekend
[42:39] Speaker 2: shaping up?
[42:41] Speaker 8: It's fantastic.
[42:41] Speaker 2: It's Friday and I've been listening.
[42:43] Speaker 4: To you guys all day.
[42:44] Speaker 2: Oh, good. Friday jams all day. Are you going away
[42:46] Speaker 2: or are you going to stay at home for the
[42:47] Speaker 2: long weekends?
[42:48] Speaker 1: I'm going to enjoy the sun in Christchurch. And by
[42:51] Speaker 1: the way, long-time listener, first-time caller.
[42:53] Speaker 2: Hell yeah. What an incredible weekend to be in Christchurch too. Cricket, league, rugby, sun.
[43:04] Speaker 8: Yeah, there's a lot going on.
[43:06] Speaker 2: There's a lot going on. Let's do your birthday banger.
[43:08] Speaker 2: What's your date of birth?
[43:10] Speaker 1: 28th of October, 1983.
[43:13] Speaker 2: Another 83, baby. You were 16 and 99 as well,
[43:17] Speaker 2: but on the 28th of October, and on that date,
[43:19] Speaker 2: this was number one. A little bit of Monica in
[43:22] Speaker 2: my life. A little bit of Erica by my side.
[43:25] Speaker 2: A little bit of... Lubega.
[43:27] Speaker 4: A little bit of.
[43:30] Speaker 2: Mumbo No. 5, what do you think, Kelly? It's not
[43:33] Speaker 2: a bad song. It's not bad. It's not a bad song. OK, OK,
[43:40] Speaker 2: we are yet to uncover the 1999 gem that everyone
[43:41] Speaker 2: is hoping for. We'll do Blake's birthday banger. Hi, Blake. G'day, team.
[43:46] Speaker 2: How are you doing?
[43:47] Speaker 8: I'm great, and happy long weekend to everybody.
[43:49] Speaker 2: Happy long weekend. Don't we bloody deserve one? It's that
[43:52] Speaker 2: time of year, right, where everyone's like, oh, can the
[43:54] Speaker 2: year just be over? So we get a little weekend
[43:56] Speaker 2: to tease us out towards the end. What's your date
[44:00] Speaker 2: of birth, Blake? Let's do your birthday banger. 12th of July, 1984.
[44:03] Speaker 2: 84 this time. All right, that means you were 16
[44:06] Speaker 2: in 2000. And on the 12th of July, this was
[44:08] Speaker 2: the number one song. From the Spice Girls, Mel C,
[44:18] Speaker 2: Never Be The Same Again. What do you think, Blake?
[44:20] Speaker 1: Beginning at the end for an absolute classic.
[44:22] Speaker 2: All right.
[44:28] Speaker 1: I think Mambo No.
[44:28] Speaker 2: 5 is going to take a lot of beating. I
[44:31] Speaker 2: tend to agree with you, Blake. I'm just going to
[44:33] Speaker 2: go to the panel briefly. Thoughts and feelings, Producer Claudia?
[44:36] Speaker 4: I'd be happy with any of them.
[44:37] Speaker 2: Mambo No. 5?
[44:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd be happy.
[44:39] Speaker 5: Monica in my life.
[44:40] Speaker 2: Patricia Grace, my number five.
[44:42] Speaker 5: Another woman's name by my side.
[44:44] Speaker 1: I'm in.
[44:45] Speaker 2: A little bit of woman's what I need.
[44:47] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[44:47] Speaker 2: A little bit of other woman's what I need. Kelly,
[44:52] Speaker 2: you won birthday banger. Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo. Have a great long weekend.
[44:57] Speaker 2: Spray and cleanse. Thanks, guys. One, two, three, four, five.
[45:03] Speaker 2: Everybody in the car, so come on, let's ride.
[45:06] Speaker 4: ZM's Bray and Clint podcast.
[45:09] Speaker 2: The winner of birthday bangers today on ZM for Kelly
[45:14] Speaker 2: is Lou Bega and Mumbo No. 5. Mumbo No. 5.
[45:22] Speaker 2: Two Lou Bega stats for you guys. I saw this
[45:25] Speaker 2: video that this couple put up where they were shocked.
[45:28] Speaker 2: To find out how old Lou Bega was when he
[45:30] Speaker 2: released Mambo No. 5. When you listen to that man's voice,
[45:33] Speaker 2: how old is he?
[45:33] Speaker 4: He sounds like a grown-up.
[45:35] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[45:35] Speaker 4: Like a 40.
[45:36] Speaker 7: 40?
[45:36] Speaker 4: Yeah. I was thinking 50.
[45:38] Speaker 2: 50? Lou Bega in that song is 24. What? Yes. 24. What?
[45:45] Speaker 2: Lou Bega.
[45:45] Speaker 5: Me singing then.
[45:46] Speaker 4: That's a grown-ass man.
[45:47] Speaker 2: Also, how many women do you think he names in
[45:49] Speaker 2: that song total?
[45:50] Speaker 4: Ballpark 12. I was thinking 17.
[45:52] Speaker 8: 17?
[45:52] Speaker 4: There's only nine women.
[45:53] Speaker 7: Oh.
[45:57] Speaker 2: It feels like he's naming an entire rugby team. Everyone
[46:00] Speaker 2: he's ever met.
[46:01] Speaker 4: Can we name it? Monica.
[46:02] Speaker 2: Monica.
[46:03] Speaker 4: Jessica.
[46:04] Speaker 2: Yes. Tina.
[46:06] Speaker 1: Tina.
[46:06] Speaker 8: Yes.
[46:06] Speaker 4: Sandra.
[46:07] Speaker 2: Yes.
[46:08] Speaker 7: Mary. Yeah.
[46:09] Speaker 5: That's five.
[46:10] Speaker 4: You.
[46:11] Speaker 2: Angela, Pamela, Erica.
[46:13] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[46:14] Speaker 3: Sandra.
[46:14] Speaker 7: Indeed.
[46:15] Speaker 2: Monica.
[46:15] Speaker 7: Monica.
[46:16] Speaker 2: Monica.
[46:18] Speaker 4: I wish my name was in there.
[46:19] Speaker 2: Happy Lou Bega Day to those who celebrate. The ZM
[46:23] Speaker 2: Podcast Network. Hands up who's got phone addiction. Me, me.
[46:27] Speaker 2: I've got phone addiction.
[46:28] Speaker 4: I'm not ready to admit it.
[46:29] Speaker 2: Me, me, me. Grace has phone addiction, but the hard
[46:32] Speaker 2: bit with you is your job is phone. So you
[46:35] Speaker 2: get to mask your addiction. It's like a bartender. who
[46:38] Speaker 2: gets to mask their alcoholism because they're like, it's work.
[46:40] Speaker 2: Oh my God. You know?
[46:41] Speaker 4: I'm a phone alcoholic, but it's okay.
[46:43] Speaker 2: You're a phone alcoholic, yeah.
[46:44] Speaker 5: But it's my job.
[46:45] Speaker 2: I'm a phone alcoholic. I'm drunk behind the phone. Always.
[46:49] Speaker 2: And I'm okay to admit it. I feel like that's
[46:51] Speaker 2: the first stage of recovery. But I've only ever made
[46:55] Speaker 2: it to the first stage. I've never broken my phone addiction.
[46:58] Speaker 2: I went looking for a dumb phone recently for the weekends.
[47:01] Speaker 2: And you go into JB Hi-Fi and you're like, I
[47:02] Speaker 2: need to see your dumb phones. And they're like, uh-huh.
[47:04] Speaker 2: And I'm like, I need a phone that just does
[47:06] Speaker 2: texting and calling. And they look at you like you're
[47:08] Speaker 2: a drug dealer because that's who buys the dumb phones.
[47:11] Speaker 8: Oh, true.
[47:11] Speaker 2: And they're like, okay. Okay, bud mum. All right, man.
[47:15] Speaker 2: So haven't done it. Haven't been able to find a
[47:17] Speaker 2: good one. Because also, I need the Uber.
[47:20] Speaker 4: So you need call, text, Uber.
[47:23] Speaker 2: Did you know you can phone an Uber now? Yeah. Yeah,
[47:27] Speaker 2: they've got an Uber phone number for people who are
[47:30] Speaker 2: not tech savvy. So you can ring it and they
[47:32] Speaker 2: will send an Uber to where you are which will
[47:35] Speaker 2: piss taxi drivers off so much because that is taxi.
[47:39] Speaker 4: How do you pay for Uber phone?
[47:41] Speaker 2: You can pay with cash or credit card.
[47:43] Speaker 4: That's just taxi.
[47:44] Speaker 7: That's taxi.
[47:45] Speaker 4: They've reinvented taxi.
[47:47] Speaker 2: Guys, you cancelled taxi only to relaunch taxi.
[47:52] Speaker 4: But it's different.
[47:53] Speaker 7: Why?
[47:54] Speaker 2: How?
[47:55] Speaker 4: Because it's Uber.
[47:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, right? Anyway, this new phone addiction app that I
[48:01] Speaker 2: was telling you about, it's called BrainPal. I'm going to
[48:05] Speaker 2: play you this clip of how it works. Have a listen.
[48:08] Speaker 6: This app counts every single reel I watch. Every reel,
[48:11] Speaker 6: the number goes up. Works on reels and YouTube shorts.
[48:15] Speaker 6: Stats like a fitness app. When that number's staring at you,
[48:17] Speaker 6: closing the app gets so much easier. The more you scroll,
[48:21] Speaker 6: the more your brain rots.
[48:22] Speaker 2: It's a little box that sits at the top of
[48:24] Speaker 2: your screen, and the number... goes up every time you
[48:28] Speaker 2: scroll the number goes up annoying that they haven't included
[48:31] Speaker 2: tiktok but let's forget that for a second and assume
[48:33] Speaker 2: that it does do you know what my key issue
[48:36] Speaker 2: with it is.
[48:36] Speaker 5: I think i have the same issue my.
[48:38] Speaker 2: Brain would turn it into a competition exactly my brain
[48:42] Speaker 2: would go can we get a personal best today.
[48:44] Speaker 4: Let's get 10k baby yesterday we did 250 reels.
[48:46] Speaker 2: Before breakfast Can we crack 300?
[48:51] Speaker 5: That's exactly the problem, yeah.
[48:53] Speaker 2: Which is so bad. It's so bad. It is confronting.
[48:56] Speaker 4: Because you scroll through them so fast, you won't even
[48:58] Speaker 4: know how many you've seen. Have you ever tried to
[49:00] Speaker 4: find one by going into a view history?
[49:02] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[49:02] Speaker 4: Crazy. I don't even remember seeing that.
[49:05] Speaker 2: But also, I would be pissed off at that counter
[49:08] Speaker 2: if it was counting reels that I didn't like. You
[49:11] Speaker 2: know when you set yourself that brain thing and you go, OK,
[49:14] Speaker 2: I'm going to give myself 10 more swipes, 10 more reels.
[49:18] Speaker 2: And then you get when you're like, oh, that one
[49:19] Speaker 2: was an ad that doesn't count.
[49:20] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[49:20] Speaker 2: And then you get when you're like, I didn't like
[49:22] Speaker 2: that one. That one doesn't count. And you're doing all
[49:24] Speaker 2: these negotiations with yourself. If that app was counting. Like,
[49:28] Speaker 2: that shit, I'd be like, ah, ah, ah, ah, I
[49:29] Speaker 2: want that one back.
[49:30] Speaker 4: The one that you leave on repeat when you're on
[49:32] Speaker 4: the toilet, does it count that one?
[49:34] Speaker 2: You know what this is? This is addict conversation right here.
[49:37] Speaker 2: This is like, but if I have a water in
[49:39] Speaker 2: between my Instagram reels. Oh, God, it is.
[49:42] Speaker 3: They need to, like, have something like, there's a tree,
[49:44] Speaker 3: and every time you swipe, they slowly kill the tree.
[49:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[49:48] Speaker 5: Like, something like that.
[49:48] Speaker 4: It's a digital pet. I don't want the tree, like,
[49:50] Speaker 4: I don't want to kill my digital pet.
[49:52] Speaker 2: Someone said you can turn your phone into a dumb
[49:55] Speaker 2: phone with an app. Yes, you can. Yeah, you can.
[49:57] Speaker 2: But you can also turn that app off.
[49:59] Speaker 4: This is what I did when I put my screen
[50:00] Speaker 4: time on TikTok. It goes, your time's up. Do you
[50:02] Speaker 4: want 15 more minutes? And I go, yeah.
[50:05] Speaker 2: I put that on too and I went, give me
[50:06] Speaker 2: the day. Every day I go, give me the day.
[50:09] Speaker 2: So anyway, any better tips than that? People are like,
[50:14] Speaker 2: my wife's like, you could just put your phone in
[50:16] Speaker 2: the drawer.
[50:16] Speaker 4: No. That's boring.
[50:18] Speaker 2: That's the dumbest thing you've ever said.
[50:20] Speaker 4: You put my phone in the drawer.
[50:22] Speaker 2: You get in the drawer. She's like, we're all worried
[50:26] Speaker 2: about you. The children are worried about you. Lady Gaga and, oh, telephone?
[50:31] Speaker 2: God damn it.
[50:32] Speaker 4: Hello, baby, you called, I can't hear a thing.
[50:35] Speaker 5: Play ZM's Bree and Clint on Insta, Facebook, TikTok.
[50:39] Speaker 2: And live weekdays from 3 on ZM.
