## Transcript

[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome to 7 Good Minutes. Today we are making a
[0:03] Speaker 1: backup cue for one small habit. This is a way
[0:06] Speaker 1: to keep an action available when a day changes, not
[0:09] Speaker 1: a rule that says you must do it every day.
[0:12] Speaker 1: Pick one action you already want in your life. Say
[0:15] Speaker 1: it as a verb. Walk, read, stretch, tidy, practice. Now
[0:20] Speaker 1: name the moment when you normally do it. Maybe you
[0:23] Speaker 1: walk after work. Maybe you read when the house settles down.
[0:28] Speaker 1: Name one interruption that actually happens to you. A late call,
[0:32] Speaker 1: a changed pickup, a dinner that needs more attention. Choose
[0:36] Speaker 1: a common barrier, not the worst day you can imagine.
[0:39] Speaker 1: Now choose a backup cue, a visible event that still
[0:43] Speaker 1: happens on many of those days. Putting your keys down,
[0:46] Speaker 1: closing the laptop, placing your dinner plate in the sink.
[0:50] Speaker 1: Pair it with a version of the action small enough
[0:52] Speaker 1: to fit that moment and still matter to you. Put
[0:55] Speaker 1: it into one sentence. If my usual walk after work disappears,
[0:59] Speaker 1: then after I put my keys in the bowl, I
[1:01] Speaker 1: will walk to the corner and back. Or use your
[1:04] Speaker 1: own action and your own cue. Say the sentence once, slowly,
[1:08] Speaker 1: so you know exactly what to notice. When that kind
[1:11] Speaker 1: of day comes, try the plan if there is room.
[1:14] Speaker 1: If the cue does not appear or someone needs you
[1:16] Speaker 1: or rest is the wiser choice, let the day go.
[1:20] Speaker 1: If you keep missing the cue, revise it. The point
[1:23] Speaker 1: is to make the action easier to find not to
[1:26] Speaker 1: add another way to judge yourself. One habit, one ordinary barrier,
[1:31] Speaker 1: one backup cue, one small action. That is enough for today.
[1:36] Speaker 1: Until next time, let's be civil to one another out there.
