[0:00] Speaker 1: Scrubbing in with Beca Tilly and Tanya Red and iHeartRadio
[0:04] Speaker 1: and two times People's Choice Award winning podcast Hello Everybody,
[0:13] Speaker 1: We are scrubbing it one final time of twenty twenty
[0:19] Speaker 1: five and now the year in the books, the last scrub,
[0:25] Speaker 1: the last scrub of the year. I'm sadast years over
[0:30] Speaker 1: personally a good year.
[0:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited about twenty twenty six.
[0:35] Speaker 1: Yes, you know, much on the horizon.
[0:38] Speaker 3: Much on the horizon can be twenty twenty six.
[0:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, yes it is.
[0:44] Speaker 2: I do.
[0:44] Speaker 1: I do get this like itch in the New Year,
[0:48] Speaker 1: Like I love like chapter one of twelve and like
[0:52] Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like new Year, new y,
[0:54] Speaker 1: fresh start, make it what you want, paint the town red.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Like there's this this like energy that I get in
[1:01] Speaker 1: January that I don't have any other month of the year.
[1:03] Speaker 2: I feel like the New Year really starts in February
[1:07] Speaker 2: because I feel like January it's like you're coming off
[1:09] Speaker 2: of this RESTful time and also kind of stressful like that.
[1:13] Speaker 2: I feel like the holidays can also be stressful for people.
[1:15] Speaker 2: And then and in the first month, even though the
[1:20] Speaker 2: vibe that you're fed is like you need to go
[1:23] Speaker 2: it's a new year, get in shape, do all the
[1:25] Speaker 2: things you want to do. It's like I like to
[1:27] Speaker 2: just ease into it.
[1:29] Speaker 1: Oh No, I'm like fired up, Like I'm like, let's
[1:32] Speaker 1: go whoa whoa. Well, I was like before I went
[1:39] Speaker 1: on on like my break, like on my Christmas my
[1:42] Speaker 1: winter break, work was like piling up, like it was
[1:46] Speaker 1: like in January, you're gonna do this this And I
[1:48] Speaker 1: was like, oh wow, Like it does like I feel
[1:50] Speaker 1: like everybody just like hits the ground running in January.
[1:53] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there's stuff, there's stuff to be done.
[1:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, but my soul feels it breeds a little more time.
[2:01] Speaker 2: It needs a little more time than society allows.
[2:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, a little in between from the lay and the
[2:06] Speaker 1: and the run exactly.
[2:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, the lay and the sleigh.
[2:11] Speaker 1: It's good.
[2:13] Speaker 2: So you're in the d r yes, ringing in the
[2:17] Speaker 2: new year, just.
[2:18] Speaker 1: Ring it in ring ring dingle ling ling.
[2:21] Speaker 2: Are you like, uh, since since you're not really drinking
[2:25] Speaker 2: this year, are you ending it with a beverage? You
[2:27] Speaker 2: think like a celebratory champon.
[2:30] Speaker 1: You know what's so funny. I was actually gonna bring
[2:32] Speaker 1: champagne in for when you came back from like when
[2:35] Speaker 1: your engagement in Japan. Yeah, and I was like, Easton
[2:38] Speaker 1: doesn't drink. I thought Mark would be here. Mark doesn't drink.
[2:40] Speaker 1: I'm not drinking, so I'm gonna have a.
[2:42] Speaker 2: Whole bottle just but I really don't drink.
[2:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't really drink that much. So I was like, woo, yeah, yeah,
[2:50] Speaker 1: I'll probably have like a ceremonial sip, a ceremonial sip
[2:54] Speaker 1: to ring it in. That's what I do when I'm
[2:56] Speaker 1: like out. I don't like casually drink anymore. Like I'm
[2:59] Speaker 1: not just like drinking to drink, but when there's like
[3:02] Speaker 1: an occasion, I'm gonna throw back a little bit.
[3:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we love that. I think that
[3:09] Speaker 2: we are doing Haley's dad is riding in the Rose
[3:12] Speaker 2: Pick parade.
[3:13] Speaker 3: Wow.
[3:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're gonna go, well, I've never been before,
[3:16] Speaker 2: so we're gonna go watch him do that, which I
[3:18] Speaker 2: think will be a very early morning.
[3:20] Speaker 1: New Year's Day.
[3:21] Speaker 2: Yeah so you guys, Yeah, which I mean like staying
[3:29] Speaker 2: up till midnight isn't you know, when we're just hanging
[3:32] Speaker 2: out at home tilling I don't really feel a lot
[3:34] Speaker 2: of pressure to stay up till midnight.
[3:36] Speaker 1: It's tough to stay up till midnight when sometimes we'll.
[3:38] Speaker 2: Like barely make it and we're like happy New Year,
[3:40] Speaker 2: good night.
[3:41] Speaker 1: You want I really want to do one New Year
[3:43] Speaker 1: And we we talked about it, I think last year,
[3:49] Speaker 1: but we like, I always want to throw a New
[3:51] Speaker 1: Year's party.
[3:52] Speaker 2: You did talk about this last year, but I don't
[3:54] Speaker 2: want to.
[3:54] Speaker 1: Like have it be like a party. I wanted to
[3:55] Speaker 1: be like a pajama party where we have like friends
[3:57] Speaker 1: over and play games and like watch the show Ideal.
[4:01] Speaker 2: Right, yeah next year, because I.
[4:03] Speaker 1: Feel like there's like a lot of pressure when you
[4:05] Speaker 1: throw into yours party because it's like the best art
[4:07] Speaker 1: of the year, like you, like, everybody's expecting to have
[4:09] Speaker 1: the best time. So I'm like that's a lot of
[4:10] Speaker 1: pressure to hold on to. Yeah, but if you make
[4:12] Speaker 1: like a pajama party, expectations and everyone can be comfortable
[4:17] Speaker 1: and cozy but like together. I love a game night
[4:21] Speaker 1: New Year like yeah, with loved ones, loved.
[4:24] Speaker 2: Ones and food and fellowship.
[4:27] Speaker 1: Yeah next year.
[4:29] Speaker 2: Well, we are getting all lot with I like it, though,
[4:33] Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know it's a good it's
[4:35] Speaker 2: a good season that we're in. Yeah, should we do
[4:38] Speaker 2: some of our favorites of the year.
[4:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I feel like we never got to any
[4:42] Speaker 1: of these, Like people submitted questions like end of the
[4:45] Speaker 1: year questions through Instagram that we never got to, and
[4:47] Speaker 1: I feel like.
[4:49] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, they've been patiently waiting for weeks.
[4:51] Speaker 1: Now answer these patiently waiting.
[4:53] Speaker 2: Well, let's tackle some of them, shall we?
[4:56] Speaker 1: That we shall?
[4:57] Speaker 2: Do you want to lead the way?
[4:58] Speaker 1: Sure? Okay, I'm gonna start with this one because like
[5:02] Speaker 1: let's just like talk about the elephant in the room. Okay, Becca,
[5:08] Speaker 1: who will be your maids of honor?
[5:10] Speaker 2: Wow? I feel like you'll be a maid of honor? Yeah,
[5:15] Speaker 2: for sure. I haven't thought me on that, Like I
[5:21] Speaker 2: obviously have people that are in my life. I just
[5:23] Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, do I just make everyone kind of
[5:27] Speaker 2: a maid of honor? Do I just give people like
[5:29] Speaker 2: specific roles of like where I think they'll thrive, you know,
[5:33] Speaker 2: like you're so good at celebrating and planning and like
[5:37] Speaker 2: doing the most, so like, of course you'll you'll be
[5:40] Speaker 2: a maid of honor in my wedding. I don't see
[5:44] Speaker 2: a world where you're not. But I have, you know,
[5:46] Speaker 2: my sisters, I have jo But everyone's like in a
[5:51] Speaker 2: new season of life where I don't know, they'll have
[5:53] Speaker 2: so much to give and you also will probably be
[5:55] Speaker 2: in that season of life whilst I'm planning.
[5:58] Speaker 1: But we're still gonna be so happy to totally.
[6:02] Speaker 2: But I'm seeing it's a life. Life goes in a
[6:07] Speaker 2: different direction. You know, you get more capacity.
[6:09] Speaker 1: Can I give you a piece of advice sure that
[6:11] Speaker 1: you didn't ask for?
[6:12] Speaker 2: Sure?
[6:14] Speaker 1: Depending on how many bridesmaids you're gonna have, if you're
[6:17] Speaker 1: gonna have like a big bridal party, I think having
[6:21] Speaker 1: maids of honor and like differentiating, does I guess make sense.
[6:24] Speaker 1: My bridal party was so small. Three of my five
[6:28] Speaker 1: were maids of honor, and I'm like, I wish I
[6:30] Speaker 1: would have just made everybody a maid of honor, do
[6:32] Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like, I don't know why
[6:36] Speaker 1: I did that. Like in hindsight, I'm like, I wish
[6:37] Speaker 1: I would have made everybody because all of you did,
[6:40] Speaker 1: like really worked on everything together, and I think that's
[6:43] Speaker 1: really how it always is. Yeah, yeah, that's just my
[6:46] Speaker 1: little tip. Well, you know, take it for what you want.
[6:51] Speaker 2: I just I want everyone. I don't know that I
[6:54] Speaker 2: want a huge party because I think trying to arrange
[7:02] Speaker 2: or putting expectations on people could make me feel overwhelmed.
[7:06] Speaker 2: So I don't know. I'll have to get there. When
[7:08] Speaker 2: I get there, yeah, you'll be there.
[7:10] Speaker 1: I can help stress, and I'm just so happy to help.
[7:13] Speaker 1: Just put me in coach, coach.
[7:16] Speaker 2: Oh.
[7:17] Speaker 1: I wanted to answer this one because a lot of
[7:18] Speaker 1: people have been hitting me up about this. Tanya, what
[7:20] Speaker 1: happened to your natural nail era? It's over? It is over.
[7:26] Speaker 1: It lasted about I think three months in total. I
[7:30] Speaker 1: don't know if anybody else has this nervous habit, but
[7:33] Speaker 1: when I don't have nails on, so I have like
[7:35] Speaker 1: fake nails on when I don't have any sort of
[7:37] Speaker 1: because I would just I was doing like polish, just
[7:39] Speaker 1: like regular polish. I pick at the skin around my fingers,
[7:44] Speaker 1: especially my thumbs.
[7:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, I do that.
[7:47] Speaker 2: Do you think I think a lot of people because
[7:49] Speaker 2: you do it without realizing you're doing it.
[7:51] Speaker 1: I'm it's like bleeding, Like my fingers just start getting
[7:53] Speaker 1: bloody and then I keep picking until they're like bleeding more.
[7:57] Speaker 1: And for some reason, when I have fake nails on,
[7:59] Speaker 1: I don't do that. So for my own fingers sake.
[8:01] Speaker 2: I didn't know what Tanya Tonya goes one day after
[8:07] Speaker 2: the podcast, She's like, look at my nails. And I
[8:11] Speaker 2: was shook because there was a time where I had
[8:14] Speaker 2: I had taken off the color of my nails or something.
[8:16] Speaker 2: They weren't done, and Tonya made such a fuss about
[8:18] Speaker 2: how unkept my hands looked without them being done, and
[8:22] Speaker 2: I was like, ma'am, you look like you've been gnawed on.
[8:27] Speaker 1: But I was just the skin around my nails, not
[8:30] Speaker 1: my nails. My actual nails were still gorgeous. It's the
[8:33] Speaker 1: skin around.
[8:34] Speaker 2: I'm sorry it took away from the beauty of the nail.
[8:38] Speaker 1: Having to rocks.
[8:40] Speaker 2: I think it's a natural habit to do. I do
[8:41] Speaker 2: it too. If I don't have my nails done with
[8:44] Speaker 2: my gel, I will attack them.
[8:47] Speaker 1: It's also bite their nails. I don't bite my nails.
[8:52] Speaker 1: The skin around them is gone. So the natural nail
[8:55] Speaker 1: journey ended for me unfortunately quickly.
[9:01] Speaker 2: What is something you want to take less seriously this
[9:04] Speaker 2: next year?
[9:08] Speaker 1: That's a tough one because I think everything so seriously.
[9:12] Speaker 2: I want to take everything less seriously because like I
[9:15] Speaker 2: had this moment recently where I was like, we are
[9:18] Speaker 2: in this big world, and like we're so minuscule and
[9:23] Speaker 2: and like this is a sad reality, but it is reality.
[9:26] Speaker 2: But like, aside from the next generation and maybe the
[9:30] Speaker 2: next one, no one's gonna remember you. Yeah, like no
[9:33] Speaker 2: one's gonna remember me, like the people who knew me,
[9:36] Speaker 2: and like maybe other people, their kids or something might
[9:39] Speaker 2: remember me or know of me. But like with how
[9:43] Speaker 2: seriously and uh dramatically I feel about things. When I
[9:48] Speaker 2: put myself in that headspace, it makes everything feel so
[9:51] Speaker 2: less daunting and like big, and I just want to
[9:56] Speaker 2: be like I want to be kind, I want to
[9:59] Speaker 2: love people. I want people around me to feel like
[10:02] Speaker 2: seen because that's what's presently happening. And I don't want
[10:05] Speaker 2: to take everything so seriously or feel like these small
[10:08] Speaker 2: inconveniences in life feel like so grand and they're really
[10:13] Speaker 2: not that big of a deal. And I also really like,
[10:16] Speaker 2: obviously people have bad days, and like one person's situation
[10:21] Speaker 2: doesn't make someone else's situation less valid. But I really
[10:25] Speaker 2: don't have anything to complain about, Like I have a
[10:27] Speaker 2: very incredible life, and like I just want to be
[10:31] Speaker 2: able to like help people and love people, and for
[10:33] Speaker 2: people when they think of me to think of those
[10:35] Speaker 2: things and not be anything more dramatic than that.
[10:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I think I realized this year that
[10:44] Speaker 1: because my my acupuncturists in this like trying to conceive era,
[10:47] Speaker 1: her biggest thing is like you need less stress, like
[10:51] Speaker 1: relax and that's why I was calling it like my
[10:52] Speaker 1: soft girl era. But I think I realized that in
[10:56] Speaker 1: this season, how much I live my life and like
[11:00] Speaker 1: fight or flight I don't know how to like and
[11:02] Speaker 1: that's not really the right term, but how much I
[11:04] Speaker 1: live my life of like so go go go and
[11:07] Speaker 1: so stressed. Like I'm always just like stressed about like
[11:10] Speaker 1: getting to work on time, doing this, doing that. Like
[11:12] Speaker 1: my whole day is just like a to do list
[11:16] Speaker 1: of like little stressors and it's like we all have it.
[11:18] Speaker 1: It's like a part of life. But I think because
[11:20] Speaker 1: I just I just take everything so seriously and I
[11:23] Speaker 1: don't need to do that, you know what I mean,
[11:25] Speaker 1: Like I can like put my shoulders down and do
[11:29] Speaker 1: what I need to do and not make everything. I
[11:30] Speaker 1: just think I naturally tend to make things more just
[11:33] Speaker 1: like natural everyday tasks more intense and I need to
[11:38] Speaker 1: just like chill out.
[11:40] Speaker 2: It's all about working smarter and not harder. Yeah, like
[11:44] Speaker 2: life can be hard. Why make it harder for yourself?
[11:47] Speaker 2: You know? Yeah, Like the things that you're stressing about,
[11:50] Speaker 2: they're either going to happen or they're not. They are
[11:52] Speaker 2: they are going to happen. Yeah, Like you know you
[11:55] Speaker 2: have to get to work on time, So like you're
[11:57] Speaker 2: gonna get to work on time, right, why would you
[11:59] Speaker 2: add to stressed about We're getting to work on it?
[12:01] Speaker 1: And like it's so weird. I've only slept through my
[12:04] Speaker 1: alarm really like once or twice in my entire career,
[12:07] Speaker 1: and yet every morning I'm so scared I'm going to
[12:09] Speaker 1: sleep through my alarm, so I'm waking up an hour
[12:11] Speaker 1: before to check it. And I'm like, I hate that.
[12:14] Speaker 2: Like, I mean, you did say you're already stressed about
[12:18] Speaker 2: Christmas and New Year's being over. You couldn't even enjoy it?
[12:21] Speaker 1: Correct, Yeah, there's clearly there's a lot of work I
[12:24] Speaker 1: need to do in the new year. That's a little
[12:26] Speaker 1: bit about me.
[12:27] Speaker 2: What do you want to let go?
[12:29] Speaker 3: Oh?
[12:29] Speaker 1: Man?
[12:31] Speaker 4: We Alison and I watched a meteor shower the other
[12:33] Speaker 4: day and it made us feel or reminded us how
[12:37] Speaker 4: insignificant we are, you know, like this is a rock
[12:40] Speaker 4: burning up like how many millions of miles away and
[12:44] Speaker 4: I'm enjoying it down here on earth. It could hit
[12:48] Speaker 4: me right now and then that would hopefully be the
[12:50] Speaker 4: end of it all. Yeah, because I too, you know,
[12:53] Speaker 4: I saw someone on TikTok saying like, I'm going to
[12:55] Speaker 4: work to send an email with the nervous system of
[12:57] Speaker 4: someone going to war.
[12:58] Speaker 2: You know.
[12:58] Speaker 4: Really, yeah, I too feel that way. And I get
[13:02] Speaker 4: myself rarely worked up about stuff that does not totally.
[13:05] Speaker 4: I get myself really worked up about, you know, things
[13:08] Speaker 4: that no one's going to listen to with respect. But
[13:12] Speaker 4: so I want to I want to take every I
[13:15] Speaker 4: want to take everything less seriously next year. I mean,
[13:17] Speaker 4: come on, this is the one life we get, and
[13:19] Speaker 4: I want to spend it all looking for joy and
[13:22] Speaker 4: trying to create joy.
[13:22] Speaker 3: That's all I want to do.
[13:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I feel that way too. I think that
[13:27] Speaker 1: this question is like the best question to kind of
[13:31] Speaker 1: like sum up our years. Should we get to it?
[13:34] Speaker 1: After the break.
[14:03] Speaker 2: We're back, We're back.
[14:07] Speaker 1: So, since this is our last podcast of twenty twenty five,
[14:11] Speaker 1: I saw this question. I thought it's just like the
[14:13] Speaker 1: perfect way to sum up the year on our last podcast. Okay,
[14:18] Speaker 1: what are the top three highlights of this year for you? Ooh, anyone?
[14:28] Speaker 2: Do you want to start?
[14:29] Speaker 1: Mine are very easy, Okay, because I got married this year, Okay,
[14:32] Speaker 1: so I would say my wedding obviously. I think that's
[14:37] Speaker 1: like one of the top highlights of my life. Couldn't
[14:40] Speaker 1: have been better. I had the absolute time of my
[14:43] Speaker 1: life and I could not have like I couldn't asked
[14:46] Speaker 1: for anything better, truly. I think our honeymoon was another
[14:51] Speaker 1: highlight of like not even just the year of my life.
[14:54] Speaker 1: There was something so special. It's like not just a vacation,
[14:56] Speaker 1: it's like a totally different type of vacation. And we
[14:59] Speaker 1: were so connected and like so just like ravenous with
[15:06] Speaker 1: each other, and like I don't know, it was just
[15:08] Speaker 1: like very there was just something very different about it
[15:11] Speaker 1: that I feel like was really special. And your engagement.
[15:15] Speaker 2: Whoa that means so much?
[15:18] Speaker 1: Which one, well, I think the one in July okay, yeah,
[15:22] Speaker 1: because also like I found out on my honeymoon, so
[15:25] Speaker 1: I made that even like more special. Yeah, And it
[15:30] Speaker 1: was like very like serendipitous that like my honeymoon is
[15:33] Speaker 1: like the end of my like bridal era, and like
[15:35] Speaker 1: you were just starting yours, and like, I know how
[15:38] Speaker 1: exciting and like how special.
[15:40] Speaker 2: That day is.
[15:41] Speaker 1: So it was like my journey's ending in yours. Oh
[15:44] Speaker 1: my god, not expect Friday.
[15:49] Speaker 2: That's so special. Because I was gonna say, I would
[15:52] Speaker 2: say probably my proposal from Haley and to Haley would
[15:57] Speaker 2: be if I can, if I have to separate them,
[15:59] Speaker 2: add two of those. But I was gonna say, you're
[16:02] Speaker 2: wedding too, because I felt like it was such a
[16:04] Speaker 2: special weekend. And I also lump at your bachelorette party
[16:07] Speaker 2: into like that too, because it was such a fun
[16:09] Speaker 2: trip and like it was so fun getting to celebrate
[16:12] Speaker 2: you in something that like you had wanted for so long,
[16:15] Speaker 2: and like especially talking about on the podcast, because it's
[16:18] Speaker 2: been that's been such a journey as like your love
[16:20] Speaker 2: life and your love story, and it really felt like
[16:23] Speaker 2: it came to this like beautiful completion in the sense
[16:28] Speaker 2: of like you found your person and like now it's
[16:31] Speaker 2: the next phase of life, you know. Yeah, And it
[16:34] Speaker 2: was just such a fun weekend. Even though I like
[16:36] Speaker 2: nearly killed myself via alcohol, it was amazingly.
[16:40] Speaker 1: Was like, oh my god, everybody just like it was
