[0:00] Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly and Tanya rad and iHeartRadio
[0:04] Speaker 1: and two time People's Choice Award winning podcast.
[0:10] Speaker 2: Hello everybody, we are scrubbing in Today is a special
[0:16] Speaker 2: day because we have a special guest.
[0:18] Speaker 1: Yes we do. We fell in love with her from
[0:20] Speaker 1: Love is Blind this season, and I think we all
[0:23] Speaker 1: collectively kind of wrapped her arms around her mid season.
[0:26] Speaker 3: She united the world she did or the US. She
[0:29] Speaker 3: did the US. We need this no.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Like people all over could be watching the USA Love
[0:34] Speaker 1: is Blind.
[0:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, and she collectively had us all on her side correct,
[0:39] Speaker 2: which felt really good.
[0:40] Speaker 1: It did us for once.
[0:43] Speaker 2: So I cannot wait to talk to her. I have
[0:45] Speaker 2: so many things to ask and I can't wait for
[0:48] Speaker 2: her to scrub in. So everyone welcome Jessica Barrett. There's
[0:55] Speaker 2: so much to discuss.
[0:57] Speaker 1: We do want to set the scene for our listen
[1:00] Speaker 1: because we are doing this interview on a Tuesday. The
[1:03] Speaker 1: reunion airs tomorrow. This is airing days after, so everybody
[1:08] Speaker 1: will have already seen the reunion, so we are We
[1:12] Speaker 1: got some spoilers so you know it happens, But we
[1:14] Speaker 1: just want to set the scene.
[1:16] Speaker 3: We don't know everything.
[1:17] Speaker 1: We don't know everything, but we know enough.
[1:22] Speaker 2: Okay, can we start. I have so many questions about
[1:25] Speaker 2: the process.
[1:26] Speaker 1: Of Love is Blind in the timeline, the timeline.
[1:29] Speaker 2: In the process, So how does one get on the show?
[1:33] Speaker 3: First of all, is it a.
[1:34] Speaker 4: Casting totally different for everyone that you ask I personally
[1:39] Speaker 4: got a DM, which was crazy because I had a
[1:42] Speaker 4: private Instagram.
[1:43] Speaker 5: I don't like.
[1:45] Speaker 4: My Instagram is literally like my folloween costumes and my bulldogs,
[1:49] Speaker 4: nothing exciting. And I got a message from a casting
[1:53] Speaker 4: person and obviously thought I was like being catfished and
[1:56] Speaker 4: was like, this is crazy. Send it to my little
[1:58] Speaker 4: sister and my parents and they were like, obviously you
[2:00] Speaker 4: need to answer that, and I said, no, there's no
[2:05] Speaker 4: way this is real. And even if it were, there's
[2:07] Speaker 4: no way I could do this with work, with everything crazy.
[2:13] Speaker 4: I had a conversation with Age, the person who reached
[2:17] Speaker 4: out to me from Kinetic, and just kept talking and
[2:22] Speaker 4: it was basically me trying to convince her that she
[2:24] Speaker 4: didn't want me, and her trying to convince me that
[2:27] Speaker 4: she did.
[2:28] Speaker 3: Did you how did you find she?
[2:31] Speaker 1: Probably do their real I feel like they do their
[2:33] Speaker 1: research in because every season of Love is Blinds in
[2:36] Speaker 1: a different city, so they probably go in and like
[2:39] Speaker 1: just hit the ground running, ask people for like recommendations
[2:43] Speaker 1: of like really awesome singles that they know, and then
[2:46] Speaker 1: they just like go in from there.
[2:47] Speaker 5: That's the only thing I can think.
[2:49] Speaker 4: I think one of my friends maybe said something to
[2:52] Speaker 4: someone and I just don't know.
[2:55] Speaker 5: Otherwise, I just don't know how advice was in the far.
[3:00] Speaker 4: So we filmed in February, and she messaged me at
[3:03] Speaker 4: some point in the fall. It's a very long process.
[3:05] Speaker 1: February of twenty twenty five, when we filmed twenty twenty four.
[3:09] Speaker 3: Oh, February twenty twenty five. But did she reached out
[3:12] Speaker 3: in fall.
[3:13] Speaker 5: Of twenty four?
[3:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, this has been like a full year since you filmed. Okay,
[3:18] Speaker 1: and the reunion was filmed recently, a.
[3:21] Speaker 5: Couple of weeks ago. Maybe I don't even know what
[3:23] Speaker 5: day it is. Where am I? Okay?
[3:25] Speaker 1: But no, I do think it's interesting because I always wonder,
[3:27] Speaker 1: like after Love is Blind, after we see like the weddings,
[3:30] Speaker 1: why don't we get the reunion right after? And I
[3:32] Speaker 1: think it's because that was filmed a year ago, and
[3:35] Speaker 1: then the reunion is like flashing forward present. Yeah, so
[3:39] Speaker 1: a lot of times played.
[3:40] Speaker 4: Yeah, so a lot has transpired since we've filmed Riley.
[3:44] Speaker 4: And it's funny because especially for those of us that had,
[3:48] Speaker 4: you know, roller coaster experiences.
[3:51] Speaker 5: I experienced that over a.
[3:53] Speaker 1: Year ago, and how are we living it?
[3:55] Speaker 4: Worked through it and done all of these things, and
[3:57] Speaker 4: then all of a sudden, everyone else's experience and sing
[4:00] Speaker 4: it with me and like oh my god, Oh my god.
[4:03] Speaker 4: And I'm like, yeah, that's kind of like old news.
[4:04] Speaker 4: At this point, I'm.
[4:06] Speaker 1: Good, which is why you're probably able to like talk
[4:09] Speaker 1: about it.
[4:10] Speaker 5: One hundred fresh.
[4:11] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[4:11] Speaker 4: I think that if I had to have these conversations
[4:15] Speaker 4: over and over when it had just happened, I would
[4:18] Speaker 4: be unwell. I you could ask my family and friends.
[4:22] Speaker 4: I basically just kept saying I don't want to talk
[4:24] Speaker 4: about it. I don't want to talk about it. Even now,
[4:26] Speaker 4: they keep asking me questions, like normal questions like wait,
[4:29] Speaker 4: what was it like in the pods or how did
[4:31] Speaker 4: you do this? And I'm like, you, guys, this was
[4:34] Speaker 4: a year ago, and they're like, yeah, we know, but
[4:37] Speaker 4: you wouldn't tell us.
[4:38] Speaker 3: I would just shut it down. I'm finally ready to
[4:42] Speaker 3: talk about it.
[4:43] Speaker 2: So when you go into the pods on the show,
[4:47] Speaker 2: how do you decide who is it? Like you do
[4:49] Speaker 2: a speed round where you talk to everybody and then
[4:52] Speaker 2: you say, Okay, I like to these people exactly how
[4:54] Speaker 2: many do you choose base the first round?
[4:57] Speaker 4: It totally depends on the cast, but we had a
[5:00] Speaker 4: rather large cast. There were sixteen women and sixteen men.
[5:04] Speaker 4: So the first day was sixteen dates I think around
[5:08] Speaker 4: nine minutes each something like that.
[5:11] Speaker 1: You can tell pretty quick, Oh.
[5:12] Speaker 4: Girl, I was. I was so overwhelmed. But it is
[5:16] Speaker 4: you can kind of tell like is there chemistry or not?
[5:18] Speaker 4: And you know, for certain people, they're like obvious deal breakers,
[5:22] Speaker 4: and if you just get those out of the way,
[5:25] Speaker 4: it kind of makes it easy just to soar through
[5:28] Speaker 4: because how else do you figure it out?
[5:30] Speaker 5: These are sixteen human beings on the other side.
[5:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, how are you supposed to figure out if they're
[5:34] Speaker 4: a good person a good match for you in just
[5:36] Speaker 4: a few minutes.
[5:38] Speaker 5: But it's easier than you think.
[5:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, did you have a list of questions that you
[5:41] Speaker 2: just went in being like I'm asked like that were
[5:44] Speaker 2: deal breakers?
[5:45] Speaker 3: You know, I really how you did it.
[5:47] Speaker 4: I really only had one major deal breaker, but it
[5:51] Speaker 4: made it very easy for me to kind of filter through.
[5:55] Speaker 5: I just politics.
[5:57] Speaker 4: Honestly, I just I feel really really strongly about human rights.
[6:00] Speaker 4: And you know, I think being in healthcare in particular
[6:04] Speaker 4: and being exposed to such a wide variety of people
[6:07] Speaker 4: that becomes so important to us, and we see, I
[6:11] Speaker 4: think the after effects of if people aren't treated fairly
[6:14] Speaker 4: and equally, and so it's something I feel so so
[6:17] Speaker 4: strongly about. And I knew that while I can have
[6:20] Speaker 4: a respectful conversation with anyone about anything, if you're going
[6:25] Speaker 4: to be sleeping in my bed next to me, I
[6:27] Speaker 4: want to make sure that these things that are the
[6:29] Speaker 4: most important to me are also important to you.
[6:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, very very true. Okay, wait, so you you were
[6:37] Speaker 1: one of the couples that did get engaged. There was
[6:39] Speaker 1: a record breaking number of you this season, apparently seven couples.
[6:43] Speaker 3: So many that one didn't even make amend.
[6:45] Speaker 1: I don't know if they in trust this on the reunion,
[6:47] Speaker 1: so pardon me if this is repeated information for anybody watching.
[6:50] Speaker 1: But why did you all go to Mexico and Vic
[6:52] Speaker 1: and Christine go to Malibu?
[6:54] Speaker 4: So they do talk about it a little bit o reunion.
[6:56] Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm allowed to say about that,
[7:00] Speaker 4: but we all knew. I mean, we all knew. We
[7:02] Speaker 4: were like, they just take him to the chapel right now,
[7:05] Speaker 4: like to they're both actual saints. What you see? Oh
[7:11] Speaker 4: my gosh, I just knowing Christine. And it's funny because
[7:15] Speaker 4: Christine and I are so different. She's very quiet, she
[7:19] Speaker 4: really kept herself. She was journaling a lot. I never
[7:21] Speaker 4: shut up, and I was like, I don't think she's like,
[7:24] Speaker 4: I don't think I'm her cup of tea. But then
[7:27] Speaker 4: over time we got so so so close, and I
[7:29] Speaker 4: just remember thinking like, who could possibly be her match?
[7:34] Speaker 4: But two minutes of talking to Vic and it's just
[7:37] Speaker 4: we all like we all knew that he was her husband.
[7:40] Speaker 5: It was wild. It was wild.
[7:42] Speaker 4: They are the kindest, sweetest, most amazing, most in love people.
[7:48] Speaker 5: I love them so much.
[7:49] Speaker 1: That makes me so happy because like, honestly, it was
[7:51] Speaker 1: them and Jordan and Amber that I was like, if
[7:55] Speaker 1: they had all say yes at the altar, like I'm
[7:57] Speaker 1: going to be devastated. I know. The way that it
[7:59] Speaker 1: all panned out for me was as a viewer, as
[8:01] Speaker 1: a viewer, except for you, I mean your story was Yeah,
[8:05] Speaker 1: to be honest, I never liked him.
[8:07] Speaker 4: Well, thank god, thank god you know what I mean.
[8:10] Speaker 4: I've said that about so many things in my life
[8:12] Speaker 4: where I really thought I wanted this thing, whatever it was,
[8:16] Speaker 4: and it didn't work out or blew up in my face.
[8:19] Speaker 4: And in this scenario, it couldn't have happened quick enough.
[8:25] Speaker 4: I just I needed to know what was going on
[8:28] Speaker 4: so that I could get the hell out of there,
[8:29] Speaker 4: and that's what happened. So I'm I'm very very grateful
[8:32] Speaker 4: that I guess he showed his personality quickly.
[8:37] Speaker 2: Can I get your honest, genuine reaction of when the
[8:41] Speaker 2: doors open and y'all saw each other for the first time, like,
[8:43] Speaker 2: did he have Was he anything that you were expecting?
[8:46] Speaker 3: Physically?
[8:47] Speaker 5: I had no clue.
[8:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, you tried to not even like yeah.
[8:51] Speaker 4: And it's funny because I think that's so different from
[8:54] Speaker 4: person to person. A lot of people were like, I
[8:57] Speaker 4: just think he's tall, or I think this, or I'm
[8:59] Speaker 4: in and envisioning this.
[9:01] Speaker 5: I couldn't see anything. I just saw like the blob light.
[9:04] Speaker 3: That was all.
[9:06] Speaker 4: I really really wasn't sure what to expect. But I also,
[9:11] Speaker 4: I think I say this at some point on the show,
[9:13] Speaker 4: but if I am taken by someone and I care
[9:17] Speaker 4: about them and I love them. I think they're beautiful,
[9:21] Speaker 4: you know, whether that's romantically or not. And if I
[9:24] Speaker 4: think that they're disgusting as far as who they are
[9:27] Speaker 4: as a human being, they can be the hottest person
[9:30] Speaker 4: in the world.
[9:30] Speaker 5: I'm going to think they're disgusting.
[9:32] Speaker 4: Yes, So I knew, no matter what this person looked like,
[9:36] Speaker 4: I was going to be excited because of how I
[9:39] Speaker 4: felt at the time.
[9:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like I'm the same way.
[9:43] Speaker 3: Well, I think I think there's something and not to discredit.
[9:46] Speaker 1: Men, but I don't know that same thing.
[9:50] Speaker 3: They don't have that. I don't think I feel like women.
[9:54] Speaker 2: I genuinely feel like someone can be the hottest person
[9:57] Speaker 2: in the room, and if they open their mouth and
[9:59] Speaker 2: it's just not intelligent or kind or funny, if it's.
[10:04] Speaker 3: Bad, I'm immediately turned off. Yeah, and I don't know
[10:08] Speaker 3: that men have that same filter.
[10:10] Speaker 2: I agree with Eastern and chime men if he wants
[10:12] Speaker 2: Easton's one of the good ones.
[10:13] Speaker 4: So we don't I was gonna say, I think it's
[10:15] Speaker 4: very rare. I have definitely found men that are like that,
[10:19] Speaker 4: and it's refreshing. I have found women that are on
[10:22] Speaker 4: the other end of the spectrum too, it's just but
[10:24] Speaker 4: in general, I think that it's so deeply rooted for
[10:28] Speaker 4: me that it doesn't it's it's going to overcome everything else.
[10:32] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we're better or for worse.
[10:50] Speaker 3: So y'all go to Mexico.
[10:51] Speaker 2: It feels like things are on the up and up.
[10:54] Speaker 2: We're watching people fall in left and right.
[10:57] Speaker 3: Were there anything? I mean, obviously you're watching.
[11:00] Speaker 2: Now that you've watched it, are you like, Oh, they
[11:02] Speaker 2: didn't show that conversation or that didn't happen, and it
[11:05] Speaker 2: was like a prelude into the conversation.
[11:08] Speaker 3: There was nothing.
[11:09] Speaker 4: There was nothing that I saw. Again, I was very
[11:13] Speaker 4: you know, rose colored glasses. This is great. Everyone's so happy.
[11:16] Speaker 4: Everything's great. We're in Mexico. We're engaged.
[11:19] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I thought things were good.
[11:22] Speaker 4: I think that no matter what, there's a level of
[11:26] Speaker 4: not necessarily discomfort. But this is a relative stranger. You've
[11:30] Speaker 4: never spent time with them. And then it's like, okay,
[11:32] Speaker 4: go share a hotel room. And of course that's a
[11:36] Speaker 4: little weird, but it seemed like given the circumstances, everything
[11:40] Speaker 4: was pretty normal.
[11:42] Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, okay, and so you go.
[11:46] Speaker 1: It's just like I I'm trying to be like I
[11:50] Speaker 1: want to be kind because I want to believe that
[11:53] Speaker 1: like this guy, he said what he said and there's
[11:57] Speaker 1: no excuse, but like I do like there was a
[12:00] Speaker 1: lot of editing that like that made him look really bad,
[12:04] Speaker 1: Like it just like snowballed for him. And so I'm.
[12:08] Speaker 3: Okay, that's a he made some decisions.
[12:12] Speaker 1: And I know, but he did apologize to you.
[12:17] Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, we know that.
[12:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, and you forgave him.
[12:22] Speaker 4: I don't think I ever said I forgive you, Okay, Okay,
[12:26] Speaker 4: I think that essentially the night after the mixer, And
[12:31] Speaker 4: to be very clear, I had no clue how horrible
[12:35] Speaker 4: the things that he said at the mixer were. I
[12:37] Speaker 4: only knew what he said to me. The things that
[12:41] Speaker 4: he said at the bar to that group of women.
[12:46] Speaker 4: Nobody told me that. I had no clue when I
[12:48] Speaker 4: sat down. You know, we see the episodes at the
[12:50] Speaker 4: same time you do, and when I sat down to
[12:52] Speaker 4: watch that, I had no idea that any of that
[12:55] Speaker 4: was said. I knew it was going to be uncomfortable
[12:57] Speaker 4: to watch, but I had no clue how bad it was.
[13:01] Speaker 4: So the next day he called me spiraling and kind
[13:04] Speaker 4: of was like, you know, clearly I messed up and
[13:08] Speaker 4: he was panicking, and I basically said, you know, I'll
[13:13] Speaker 4: talk to you for a few minutes, but I'm not
[13:14] Speaker 4: going to talk to you again after this. And also,
[13:17] Speaker 4: if you're looking to feel better, I'm not going to
[13:19] Speaker 4: be the person to do that right now. And if
[13:20] Speaker 4: you still want to have a conversation, then fine, And
[13:24] Speaker 4: so we did. But again, I think that was more
[13:27] Speaker 4: oh my gosh, what did I do, rather than feeling
[13:30] Speaker 4: bad about what he said about right.
[13:32] Speaker 1: That's what I'm like. I feel like the apology and
[13:34] Speaker 1: everything is because of like the public backlash versus like
[13:38] Speaker 1: I'm genuinely sorry that I yeah, that I treated you
[13:43] Speaker 1: that way. Yeah, that's what it feels like.
[13:45] Speaker 4: There's a lot of the apologies that he has said
[13:48] Speaker 4: are kind of like I wish I had handled it differently,
[13:51] Speaker 4: or I wish I'd used different words, which I appreciate
[13:53] Speaker 4: and agree with.
[13:55] Speaker 5: It's just it is what it is.
[13:57] Speaker 1: He said what you said, I know, because like at
[13:59] Speaker 1: the end of the day, like the way he said
[14:03] Speaker 1: it was just like I actually can't believe those words
[14:05] Speaker 1: came out of somebody's mouth.
[14:07] Speaker 4: That's how I felt, you know, like just to talk
[14:09] Speaker 4: about another human that way, yeah, regardless of who it is.
[14:13] Speaker 5: Yeah, it was just really gross to me.
[14:17] Speaker 2: Yes, So in the conversation that you had with him,
[14:19] Speaker 2: when you were on the couch, as he's saying it,
[14:22] Speaker 2: are you think I always want to know because and
[14:25] Speaker 2: I don't know how much you can say, But there's
[14:27] Speaker 2: obviously people in the room filming.
[14:29] Speaker 1: Right, Oh right, I forget about that, and you have.
[14:31] Speaker 2: A camera person, probably a producer, there's people. Were you
[14:37] Speaker 2: just looking around like is this really happening? Like were
[14:41] Speaker 2: you making eye contact with people?
[14:42] Speaker 3: Like what you were?
[14:43] Speaker 4: Just like I was locked in. It was very early
[14:48] Speaker 4: in that conversation that I knew I was out, Oh
[14:52] Speaker 4: like what part as soon as he started saying like
[14:55] Speaker 4: offensive things about my body?
[14:58] Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I knew that.
[15:01] Speaker 4: There was no way that I was going to spend
[15:03] Speaker 4: time with this person again period, And so I was
[15:06] Speaker 4: trying my best to just for myself, stay calm, get
[15:09] Speaker 4: through the conversation, and get out of there.
[15:12] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[15:12] Speaker 1: Honestly, I'm really proud of like the way you handled it,
[15:15] Speaker 1: because you didn't lash out, you didn't like give it back,
[15:19] Speaker 1: and you also just like cut it off quickly, Whereas
[15:23] Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, maybe some other people would
[15:28] Speaker 1: have been like, well, maybe we can work on this,
[15:30] Speaker 1: you know, like we're engaged, like you know what I mean,
[15:33] Speaker 1: Like I feel like you were just like no, I'm out,
[15:36] Speaker 1: and you didn't go down to his level, which I
[15:37] Speaker 1: thought was very I love you.
[15:41] Speaker 5: We've all been there.
[15:42] Speaker 4: I'm just having to be older and have been through
[15:44] Speaker 4: enough situations where I know that at the end of
[15:47] Speaker 4: the day, I want to be able to look myself
[15:49] Speaker 4: in the mirror and go to bed at night knowing
[15:50] Speaker 4: that I handled things the way that I wanted to
[15:53] Speaker 4: and I'm never going to feel bad about what I
[15:55] Speaker 4: did about it. I can't control what anybody else does,
[15:58] Speaker 4: but having been through some tough experiences, you recognize that
[16:02] Speaker 4: it's so much better to just take it in stride,
[16:07] Speaker 4: move along, understand who this person is, and move accordingly,
[16:12] Speaker 4: but don't allow them to make you feel some sort
[16:15] Speaker 4: of way about yourself.
[16:16] Speaker 1: How did you do that though, because I think, like,
[16:19] Speaker 1: you know, take yourself out of love is blind, take
[16:21] Speaker 1: yourself out of that situation. Like there are people that
[16:24] Speaker 1: are listening that are dealing with like bullies online or
[16:26] Speaker 1: people commenting on their body or you know, like things
[16:29] Speaker 1: like that, and it does it's hard to like you know,
[16:33] Speaker 1: like you said, just kind of like shut it down
[16:35] Speaker 1: and not let it affect you. How did you do
[16:37] Speaker 1: that in this situation?
[16:38] Speaker 4: I think it's going to affect you no matter what. Unfortunately,
[16:41] Speaker 4: I would love to say that there's like some sort
[16:42] Speaker 4: of trick to get rid of that, But I think
[16:45] Speaker 4: the most important thing is having such a strong sense
[16:48] Speaker 4: of self that you know that that person is wrong
[16:52] Speaker 4: regardless of what they say. And everybody is entitled to
[16:55] Speaker 4: their opinion. Absolutely, it's sometimes it's just mean an unnecessary
[17:00] Speaker 4: and I think in almost every one of those circumstances
[17:04] Speaker 4: that's a reflection of somebody's own insecurities or unhappiness, and
[17:09] Speaker 4: so to try to remind yourself of that. And also,
[17:11] Speaker 4: like I said, if you know the sky is blue,
[17:13] Speaker 4: the sky is blue, it doesn't matter if somebody else
[17:15] Speaker 4: tells you that it's orange. So you have to be
[17:19] Speaker 4: so sure of who you are and so proud of
[17:22] Speaker 4: who you are that it makes it a little bit
[17:23] Speaker 4: easier to say you can say whatever you want.
[17:26] Speaker 5: I know that that's wrong. I know who I am.
[17:29] Speaker 3: Did you see a video this girl? I'm sure you've
[17:32] Speaker 3: seen many tiktoks made about the situation. Have you watched
[17:35] Speaker 3: anything I have?
[17:36] Speaker 1: I don't.
[17:38] Speaker 4: I try not to watch anything like outside of my own,
[17:42] Speaker 4: Like I'll look at my own comments on my own
[17:45] Speaker 4: pictures and things like that. But I also have like
[17:47] Speaker 4: a text thread called Team Jess of all my family
[17:51] Speaker 4: and close friends, and I basically say, if you see
[17:54] Speaker 4: something funny or cute or like nice, you can send
[17:57] Speaker 4: it here so that I can see it.
[17:58] Speaker 5: But if it's me and I don't, this is nice.
[18:00] Speaker 3: So this girl said that, and it was the first
[18:03] Speaker 3: time I've heard of this.
[18:04] Speaker 2: But she said at the party after that conversation, also,
[18:07] Speaker 2: how well this was a timeframe from the conversation to
[18:09] Speaker 2: when you saw him again at the like mixer thing
[18:12] Speaker 2: eight days?
[18:13] Speaker 3: Oh wow?
[18:14] Speaker 1: Oh wow. I thought it was like the next day.
[18:16] Speaker 5: Okay, so eight days and y'all hadn't spoken.
[18:19] Speaker 2: Okay, this girl said that you did something called gray rocking.
[18:24] Speaker 3: Have you heard of this? You didn't see this video?
[18:27] Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say I've heard of it, but okay,
[18:30] Speaker 4: I had never heard of it.
[18:31] Speaker 2: But she was saying, you you did it, And she's like,
[18:34] Speaker 2: I don't know if she intentionally did it, but clearly not.
[18:38] Speaker 2: It's like the way you disarm a narcissist. Oh and so,
[18:42] Speaker 2: And I don't know of churs. I'm not diagnosing Christal Narses,
[18:45] Speaker 2: but like when you have narcissist.
[18:49] Speaker 3: Her behaviors because.
[18:51] Speaker 2: You went into it and you didn't give him any reaction.
[18:55] Speaker 2: You didn't act enraged and you didn't act sad.
[18:59] Speaker 3: You didn't give him anything.
[19:00] Speaker 2: And so he kept trying to to like to get
[19:04] Speaker 2: you to react, and you wouldn't do it. And I
[19:06] Speaker 2: was like, I don't know if you knew that you
[19:08] Speaker 2: were doing it, but that was amazing and it made
[19:11] Speaker 2: me go like, oh my gosh, that's how you handle
[19:12] Speaker 2: people like that, you don't do anything.
[19:14] Speaker 3: And I don't know were you sober that night? Did you?
[19:17] Speaker 3: Were you drinking?
[19:18] Speaker 1: I think you drink.
[19:20] Speaker 4: I did have a coke in my in my goblet.
[19:23] Speaker 4: I think I did a shot, But like you were,
[19:28] Speaker 4: I wasn't. I certainly wasn't anywhere near his.
[19:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[19:32] Speaker 2: And people were just like it was amazing, like the
[19:34] Speaker 2: praise of like that those choices, because like you being
[19:39] Speaker 2: able to almost just like shut him down was the
[19:42] Speaker 2: most powerful thing that you could do it, especially in
[19:45] Speaker 2: that moment because he was spiraling obviously intoxicated, and he's
[19:50] Speaker 2: saying all these horrible things to the to the other
[19:53] Speaker 2: girls and guys, and you were just like, what do
[19:56] Speaker 2: you want? Like I don't I'm not here to give
[19:58] Speaker 2: you anything, so like, why do you need to talk
[20:00] Speaker 2: to me? It was amazing, right well?
[20:01] Speaker 4: And I think over time we recognize like how precious
[20:05] Speaker 4: our energy is. And even in that first conversation on
[20:09] Speaker 4: the couch, I mean, I am very protective of that,
[20:13] Speaker 4: and my immediate thought was, he doesn't get any of this.
[20:16] Speaker 4: He doesn't get any of this, whether it's positive, whether
[20:18] Speaker 4: it's negative. I think that he would have felt better
[20:22] Speaker 4: if I had yelled and screamed and cried and gone crazy,
[20:26] Speaker 4: and I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction.
[20:28] Speaker 1: Did you ever have a conversation with Brie after that?
[20:32] Speaker 5: Yeah, Brie, did I see that? Right?
[20:35] Speaker 4: No, Bri and all the girls and I have hung
[20:38] Speaker 4: out multiple times throughout the year, and I think after
[20:44] Speaker 4: that whole thing aired, she felt bad about kind of
[20:48] Speaker 4: how she showed up.
[20:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, because I feel like at the end she ended
[20:53] Speaker 1: up ultimately like shutting it down and like shutting him down.
[20:56] Speaker 1: But there were parts where I feel like she was
[20:58] Speaker 1: kind of giving him.
[20:59] Speaker 3: A little Why are you letting him talk so much?
[21:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, and so I was like, I was curious if
[21:04] Speaker 1: she had a conversation with you about that or like apologizing.
[21:07] Speaker 4: Anyway, she did reach out to me and essentially said,
[21:09] Speaker 4: you know, I wish I had shown up differently, which
[21:11] Speaker 4: I appreciated.
[21:12] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[21:13] Speaker 4: So, and we obviously have seen each other many times
[21:16] Speaker 4: since then. WHI I'll see her in a couple of days.
[21:18] Speaker 4: We have another event here in a couple of days
[21:20] Speaker 4: in Clumbt.
[21:23] Speaker 3: So, okay, you you go on the show Love is Blind?
[21:29] Speaker 3: You are this.
[21:31] Speaker 1: Successful, so just wait, wait one second.
[21:33] Speaker 3: Okay.
[21:34] Speaker 1: The thing that just made me so mad about this
[21:38] Speaker 1: man is that he went on a show called Love
[21:41] Speaker 1: is Blind and said what he said. And I'm like
[21:44] Speaker 1: the audacity, just think we've ever and I could be wrong,
[21:51] Speaker 1: have seen like somebody say what he said, Like I understand,
[21:56] Speaker 1: like maybe you know, the chemistry might not be there
[21:59] Speaker 1: after like having those conversations with somebody, but like literally
[22:03] Speaker 1: saying I go for someone that like does pilates every day,
[22:06] Speaker 1: Like why is she going on a show called Love
[22:09] Speaker 1: is Blind?
[22:09] Speaker 5: Wrong? Show?
[22:10] Speaker 3: Like wrong?
[22:11] Speaker 1: There's so many dating shows out there, dude, you got.
[22:15] Speaker 5: Maybe just stay auditions or.
[22:17] Speaker 1: Up or like go on the dating app where you
[22:19] Speaker 1: can see what you're getting, Like I don't know, Okay,
[22:22] Speaker 1: continue great, great.
[22:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a show on MTV, like for ever go next?
[22:28] Speaker 5: God, that show is so vicious. I like.
[22:33] Speaker 1: Gore, like whatever, like love is? I just thought, was
[22:38] Speaker 1: I w me nuts?
[22:40] Speaker 2: So you go on the show and you have a
[22:43] Speaker 2: year and everyone's like what happened?
[22:45] Speaker 3: Tells everything? And you're like, I don't want to talk
[22:47] Speaker 3: about it?
[22:47] Speaker 1: Are you can't?
[22:48] Speaker 2: Right?
[22:48] Speaker 1: You have to?
[22:49] Speaker 4: Like well, so for everyone else, I just couldn't talk
[22:51] Speaker 4: about it. But like my immediate family, my best friends
[22:55] Speaker 4: who knew what I had done, they had so many questions.
[23:00] Speaker 4: And I'm very, I'm type A, I'm in healthcare, I'm
[23:04] Speaker 4: the eldest daughter.
[23:05] Speaker 5: I am very.
[23:07] Speaker 4: I'm gonna take care of my own. I'm gonna keep going.
[23:09] Speaker 4: I'm gonna figure this out. I have a little bit
[23:13] Speaker 4: of trouble asking her help for sure, which I'm sure
[23:16] Speaker 4: both of you can relate to.
[23:19] Speaker 5: But a lot of.
[23:20] Speaker 4: Times, how I deal with that in the moment is
[23:23] Speaker 4: I don't wanna I don't want to get into it.
[23:25] Speaker 5: I don't want to start crying.
[23:27] Speaker 4: I don't want to deal with any of this, especially
[23:29] Speaker 4: when I know I knew so quickly and so clearly
[23:33] Speaker 4: that like, this is not for me. This is not
[23:36] Speaker 4: an issue. I'm gonna deal with how I feel about it.
[23:40] Speaker 4: But there was never ever a millisecond where I was like, oh, like,
[23:44] Speaker 4: I'm so sad about him, And that made it a
[23:47] Speaker 4: lot easier.
[23:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, did you have.
[23:50] Speaker 2: Other connections in the pods where you were like, after
[23:54] Speaker 2: after you had that conversation, that you were like, dang it,
[23:57] Speaker 2: like I wish I had gone in a different direction.
[24:00] Speaker 4: Well, yes, I had a very very strong connection in
[24:05] Speaker 4: the pods really early on, and I was very sure
[24:12] Speaker 4: of it. I typically am very logical, very methodical, very
[24:19] Speaker 4: fact based reasonable, and this was not that. This was
[24:24] Speaker 4: like lightning bolt. Oh my god, who is this person?
[24:27] Speaker 4: I came out of the Pods and said to Ashley.
[24:29] Speaker 4: I ran over to Ashley and said, my life just changed.
[24:34] Speaker 4: I don't know what it means, but literally having a
[24:38] Speaker 4: conversation with this man, my life just changed. And he left,
[24:45] Speaker 4: Why why do you leave? It was not I will
[24:51] Speaker 4: say this experience is really really hard, being in a
[24:56] Speaker 4: pressure cooker, these long days, dating multiple.
[25:01] Speaker 1: People, yeah sounds exhausting.
[25:03] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[25:03] Speaker 4: Well, and for a lot of people who do the
[25:05] Speaker 4: apps and do these things all the time, like it's
[25:06] Speaker 4: a little bit easier.
[25:08] Speaker 5: I'm not really a dater very much. He like never
[25:12] Speaker 5: dated prior to this.
[25:16] Speaker 4: For a long time, he really didn't date, and he
[25:19] Speaker 4: was super uncomfortable dating multiple people.
[25:22] Speaker 5: He he wasn't.
[25:25] Speaker 4: Sure if it was for him, And we had this deep,
[25:29] Speaker 4: deep connection. Again, like I said, I didn't even know
[25:34] Speaker 4: if it was romantic or not at the time, because
[25:37] Speaker 4: it was so I've never been able to be so
[25:40] Speaker 4: vulnerable and talk to a man the way that I
[25:44] Speaker 4: spoke with him so quickly. And when I think of
[25:47] Speaker 4: having those conversations, I think of having them with my sister,
[25:51] Speaker 4: my best friends, these really really close, safe people.
[25:56] Speaker 5: And so.
[25:58] Speaker 4: I was like, is this my friend forever? Is this
[26:02] Speaker 4: the love of my life?
[26:03] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[26:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, was the timeframe of y'all having your conversation
[26:08] Speaker 2: and then him leaving.
[26:10] Speaker 5: Like what was a couple of days?
[26:12] Speaker 4: So again a lot changes in a couple of days,
[26:15] Speaker 4: but we essentially had these conversations. We had multiple dates.
[26:20] Speaker 4: Of course, this happens, you know every day. We have
[26:23] Speaker 4: all of these dates and I felt very confident about
[26:27] Speaker 4: him and walked in the room for our next date,
[26:31] Speaker 4: and I could just tell something was.
[26:33] Speaker 5: I was like, he's uncomfortable either.
[26:36] Speaker 4: He feels like he needs to break up with me,
[26:39] Speaker 4: and he's panicking about it. He feels like he, you know,
[26:42] Speaker 4: wants to be with somebody else, he doesn't want to
[26:44] Speaker 4: be here something. And my immediate got reaction was to
[26:47] Speaker 4: kind of give him an out and to say, look,
[26:51] Speaker 4: I like, I know how I feel about you. I
[26:53] Speaker 4: know how deep this connection is. I don't know if
[26:56] Speaker 4: that's romantic. It doesn't have to be, you know this,
[26:59] Speaker 4: this could mean just really good friends.
[27:01] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[27:02] Speaker 4: And I kind of could feel this like ex hill
[27:03] Speaker 4: of relief. And I think that I think that he
[27:07] Speaker 4: was really really scared to hurt anyone or to continue
[27:10] Speaker 4: on with the process. He's an incredibly, incredibly kind, emotionally
[27:15] Speaker 4: intelligent man, and I think that he was really struggling
[27:18] Speaker 4: with how to move forward.
[27:20] Speaker 5: Honestly, So, did he say I'm leaving?
[27:23] Speaker 3: Did he say bye?
[27:24] Speaker 5: Did he didn't?
[27:25] Speaker 1: Okay, the producers told you.
[27:29] Speaker 5: He just wasn't there the next day, But did.
[27:32] Speaker 3: You didn't know if?
[27:33] Speaker 2: Because does it work in the sense of like if
[27:35] Speaker 2: you walk in and someone's not there the next day,
[27:37] Speaker 2: do you do you assume?
[27:39] Speaker 3: Oh, they didn't want to talk to.
[27:41] Speaker 5: Me, so kind of okay.
[27:43] Speaker 4: But we had a conversation like we're going to be friends.
[27:48] Speaker 4: And one of the one of my favorite parts of
[27:50] Speaker 4: the odds was this, I don't know if you guys
[27:52] Speaker 4: got to see any Silent disco, but they give us
[27:54] Speaker 4: headphones and we get to listen to each other's playlists.
[27:57] Speaker 4: Oh that's fun, which when you were like completely taken
[28:01] Speaker 4: away from your phone, computer, everything for several days, just
[28:05] Speaker 4: listening to some of your favorite songs, is this like
[28:08] Speaker 4: huge emotional, cathartic thing. And so, and it was a
[28:11] Speaker 4: pretty long date because it was kind of well into
[28:13] Speaker 4: the process at this point, and we said.
[28:17] Speaker 5: Like, let's just listen to our songs. And it was
[28:20] Speaker 5: the best date.
[28:21] Speaker 4: We had so much fun, and then kind of left
[28:25] Speaker 4: it at that, like we're going to be friends and
[28:27] Speaker 4: that's that. And I he would have never known that.
[28:31] Speaker 4: I was kind of devastating at the time, because again
[28:36] Speaker 4: I could tell he was like not good, and I
[28:39] Speaker 4: wanted to be sure he was okay, and so I
[28:40] Speaker 4: wanted to be able to say like we can be friends.
[28:42] Speaker 4: Of course we can. You're wonderful and just kind of
[28:45] Speaker 4: leave it on a happy note. And I wish I
[28:50] Speaker 4: had left.
[28:53] Speaker 1: Honestly, Yeah, you want to be here, and you announced
[28:57] Speaker 1: on the reunion that he is your boyfriend. Yes, his
[28:59] Speaker 1: name is is Harramel Harmal Harmal Harmel like Carmel. But
[29:07] Speaker 1: so he was in the pods. He left, and then
[29:10] Speaker 1: when did you guys rekindle?
[29:12] Speaker 4: He messaged me shortly after I came back. But my
[29:16] Speaker 4: mindset then at that point was this is my buddy, Like,
[29:19] Speaker 4: that's my bro. We'll hang out, we'll talk about work whatever.
[29:21] Speaker 4: We're both in medicine.
[29:23] Speaker 5: So I never thought anything about the fact that he
[29:27] Speaker 5: ought to be so much.
[29:29] Speaker 4: It just was like, yeah, we already decided we were
[29:31] Speaker 4: going to be friends. Of course your messiter, that's not
[29:35] Speaker 4: where his mindset was at. But I didn't know that
[29:38] Speaker 4: for a very long time.
[29:39] Speaker 2: Wow, So he was he like really thought he was
[29:41] Speaker 2: putting that effort out there, and you were like this
[29:44] Speaker 2: guy's friend zone.
[29:45] Speaker 5: Yes, like he thought he was dropping his left and right.
[29:48] Speaker 4: First of all, I'm oblivious like that, we'll put that
[29:51] Speaker 4: out there right away. I'm going to take my ninety
[29:53] Speaker 4: percent on that. But I don't think he recognized that.
[29:57] Speaker 4: I assumed he was not romantically and listed in me
[30:01] Speaker 4: when things ended in the pods.
[30:03] Speaker 5: Oh, when I said.
[30:05] Speaker 4: We can be friends, it was because I thought that
[30:07] Speaker 4: he just wanted to be friends, and so I thought
[30:10] Speaker 4: we were on the same page and we could be
[30:13] Speaker 4: totally cool and fine. Was I avoiding seeing him a
[30:16] Speaker 4: little bit? Maybe because my feelings were a little bit complicated.
[30:19] Speaker 5: Probably. Did it take us several several months to actually
[30:23] Speaker 5: hang out?
[30:24] Speaker 2: Yes? Oh wow, So how long has it been sin
[30:27] Speaker 2: chall established that you were both romantically interested?
[30:33] Speaker 5: Maybe like four or five months.
[30:36] Speaker 1: Oh, so you've been together for like four or five months?
[30:38] Speaker 3: Close.
[30:38] Speaker 4: Well, there was a lot of back and forth at
[30:40] Speaker 4: the beginning, and I was very nervous.
[30:43] Speaker 1: So three to four, let's say, three to four months something.
[30:46] Speaker 3: He was here with you to watch the season.
[30:49] Speaker 5: We've watched some of it together.
[30:51] Speaker 4: We at the very beginning, like the first six episodes
[30:55] Speaker 4: that dropped since we're in a different time zone, they
[30:58] Speaker 4: dropped it three af and so a few of the
[31:01] Speaker 4: girls came over to my house and we also got
[31:03] Speaker 4: cuddled on my couch and binged it from three am
[31:06] Speaker 4: to nine am while he was doing a twenty four
[31:09] Speaker 4: hour shift at the hospital and came.
[31:11] Speaker 5: Over right after.
[31:28] Speaker 1: I wanted to do like a quick rapid fire of
[31:31] Speaker 1: just like your knee jerk reactions to the couples that
[31:36] Speaker 1: got engaged on the season.
[31:39] Speaker 2: Oh, we already got Christina, Christina.
[31:42] Speaker 5: Chris ship forever amazing. Please adopt me.
[31:47] Speaker 3: Wants to be adopted.
[31:48] Speaker 1: What about Amber and Jordan?
[31:50] Speaker 5: They're real, so fun. I love them so much, Like.
[31:52] Speaker 3: Do we see it?
[31:54] Speaker 1: We see them for who they are?
[31:56] Speaker 4: I think so, okay. I think they're both really honest,
[31:58] Speaker 4: open people.
[32:00] Speaker 1: I was obsessed with them this season.
[32:01] Speaker 5: They're the best. That's so much fun.
[32:04] Speaker 1: Bri and Connor.
[32:05] Speaker 4: Bri and Connor. They're very different, but I think that
[32:09] Speaker 4: they make it work for each other. I have spent
[32:13] Speaker 4: less time with them as a couple, I think.
[32:15] Speaker 5: I think I've seen them more individually.
[32:17] Speaker 1: Do you think that they'll get married at some point?
[32:19] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[32:20] Speaker 5: I don't know.
[32:21] Speaker 4: I based on like the most recent conversations at the reunion,
[32:26] Speaker 4: I think so, I think that's the plan.
[32:28] Speaker 3: I didn't think they I felt they broke up.
[32:33] Speaker 1: Me too, me too, But I'm happy. I actually really
[32:36] Speaker 1: loved him for her.
[32:39] Speaker 2: I did too, but I needed her to get there.
[32:41] Speaker 2: I needed her to love him.
[32:44] Speaker 3: For how he liked her.
[32:45] Speaker 1: I think she I think she just needed to have
[32:48] Speaker 1: that like revelation on her own.
[32:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, I don't know how close you are
[32:54] Speaker 2: with Brittany, but I wanted.
[32:56] Speaker 3: To reach the TV.
[33:00] Speaker 1: You know.
[33:01] Speaker 4: I love having the opportunity to talk about this because
[33:05] Speaker 4: she was fed a totally different story than any of us. See,
[33:09] Speaker 4: I mean, and you can tell in the last episode
[33:14] Speaker 4: he is so clearly they clearly have said they're still
[33:19] Speaker 4: He kept saying the crazy kept saying to her, We're
[33:21] Speaker 4: not going backwards, We're not going backwards. That means you're
[33:25] Speaker 4: still engaged. I think anybody would think that. But then
[33:28] Speaker 4: he would go to the camera and say, crazy shit
[33:32] Speaker 4: she was showing, which is bullshit, by the way, It
[33:36] Speaker 4: is absolutely no.
[33:37] Speaker 1: That was like she got such a dirty edit. The
[33:41] Speaker 1: way they the way that specific scene went down was
[33:45] Speaker 1: very dirty.
[33:45] Speaker 4: It was just nasty, and she it was It broke
[33:48] Speaker 4: It broke my heart for her because.
[33:49] Speaker 5: She was just in it.
[33:50] Speaker 4: She was doing she was doing what I was doing.
[33:53] Speaker 4: She was there for the right reason. She she believed
[33:56] Speaker 4: this man because I can't even say she thought it
[33:59] Speaker 4: was this way. He was telling her it was that
[34:01] Speaker 4: way and telling everyone else something else.
[34:03] Speaker 5: So it's just it's just gross to me.
[34:05] Speaker 2: There was that scene where she was like, I know
[34:08] Speaker 2: you're not going to gush over me or tell me
[34:10] Speaker 2: I'm pretty, and he was like.
[34:11] Speaker 4: Yeah, no, girl, you deserves a gusher, like let's go.
[34:18] Speaker 5: Yeah, and she does. She deserves everything and I know
[34:21] Speaker 5: she'll find it.
[34:22] Speaker 2: There's some revelations about him on the road hand.
[34:25] Speaker 1: Okay, good Emma and Mike.
[34:30] Speaker 5: I love Emma.
[34:31] Speaker 4: Emma's my like sweet baby angel, and Mike is totally
[34:35] Speaker 4: cool like it. I'm not saying that because I don't
[34:37] Speaker 4: love Mike, but Emma's like my little sister slash my child.
[34:42] Speaker 4: I always say biologically technically she could probably be my
[34:44] Speaker 4: child time wise. But I think that they both were
[34:50] Speaker 4: really trying to do the right thing. I think that
[34:55] Speaker 4: with the hurdles that were there, it was not it
[34:58] Speaker 4: was not going to be right for them to be together.
[35:01] Speaker 4: And I'm glad because I think they're both really happy
[35:04] Speaker 4: and doing really well.
[35:05] Speaker 3: It's painful, it was, but it was a hurdle that
[35:08] Speaker 3: they both knew was going to be a hurdle.
[35:10] Speaker 1: You know they always say, like the red flegs from
[35:13] Speaker 1: the beginning, or like what happens in the beginning is
[35:15] Speaker 1: always what happens at the end.
[35:17] Speaker 3: They both they.
[35:17] Speaker 2: Never got to the same page even in the it
[35:20] Speaker 2: was like I want a child, I don't.
[35:22] Speaker 3: I don't think I want a kid.
[35:23] Speaker 1: I can get there in a quick three weeks.
[35:26] Speaker 5: Yeah, So anybody that's like, oh, for he knew that.
[35:29] Speaker 1: That was not for neither of them.
[35:34] Speaker 5: I think they both tried. They both really tried.
[35:36] Speaker 2: They put themselves in a position to see maybe maybe
[35:39] Speaker 2: things can change with the right person.
[35:41] Speaker 1: And exactly last, but not least, Ashley and Alex.
[35:46] Speaker 5: Oh god love. I like Ashley a period.
[35:55] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[35:58] Speaker 2: Did everyone have the collect a feeling towards Alex that like.
[36:02] Speaker 1: As viewers we did?
[36:04] Speaker 4: I think so, But I think all the girls that like,
[36:07] Speaker 4: did you have any moments where you talk to him
[36:09] Speaker 4: in the pod and like to most side from the
[36:12] Speaker 4: first day or was that one conversation and done that's eat. Yeah,
[36:16] Speaker 4: I don't remember if we had more than one date,
[36:18] Speaker 4: but it was very I knew that we were a match.
[36:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was another painful one. Yeah, Okay,
[36:28] Speaker 1: we had the best time talking with Jessica, and we
[36:31] Speaker 1: actually had the chance to talk with Jessica and her
[36:34] Speaker 1: new boyfriend, Harmal. But you're gonna hear that conversation on Monday.
[36:38] Speaker 1: We can't air it until Monday, so you will be
