Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Jasmine Hood Founder of Better Bodies Massage in Atlanta (originally from Greenville, South Carolina), joined Rushion McDonald on Money Making Conversations Masterclass to share her journey from CNA to licensed massage therapist, the realities of being a traveling service provider, and the wellness benefits of massage therapy. She discusses body alignment, stress, trauma release, the differences between massage modalities, alternative treatments like cupping, entrepreneurship during COVID‑19, safety considerations for mobile therapists, corporate/wellness partnerships, and her long‑term goal of building a scalable massage brand supported by contractors. 🎯 Purpose of the Interview The interview aims to: • Highlight how massage therapy supports physical and emotional wellness, including stress, posture, and pain relief. • Educate listeners on the types of massages, proper stretching techniques, and how body tension accumulates. • Explore entrepreneurship in the wellness space, including launching a business during COVID‑19. • Discuss safety and professionalism in mobile massage therapy. • Show how Jasmine is building a sustainable small business through networking, corporate events, and contractor partnerships. 🔑 Key Takeaways 1. Career Shift & Fearless Beginnings • Jasmine switched from working as a CNA to moving to Atlanta alone with no support system—motivated by a desire for change and inspired by her mother’s independence. • She emphasized overcoming fear and taking leaps even when circumstances are uncertain. 2. Massage Therapy Is Both Physical & Emotional Healing • Massage releases tension, trauma, and stress stored in the body, especially in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. • Many people carry pain from work, daily habits, or emotional strain—and massage helps restore balance. 3. The Three Most Popular Massage Types Jasmine explained the differences clearly: • Swedish Massage — Gentle, relaxing, ideal for beginners and stress relief. • Deep Tissue — Targets chronic pain and trigger points but may be intense for clients who are not accustomed to it. • Sports Massage — Faster movements, stretching, and ideal for athletes. She stressed that deep tissue should not be rushed—the muscle needs warming before intense pressure. 4. Stretching Is Critical—Most People Do It Wrong • Stretching should be held 30 seconds to 1 minute, not quick movements or rolling the neck. • Consistent stretching prevents the “tight forward lean” posture many people develop. • Lower‑body stretches (glutes, hamstrings, hips) dramatically improve back pain. 5. Travel Massage: Safety, Boundaries & Professionalism • Jasmine screens new clients by phone before accepting appointments. • She immediately declines inappropriate requests (e.g., sexualized services). • She only sees first‑time clients during daylight and shares her location with trusted contacts. • She maintains a clear, therapeutic-only brand despite public misconceptions. 6. Entrepreneurship Journey & Business Model • She built her business during COVID‑19, initially offering lower prices, then raising them as her brand grew. • Corporate wellness events and golf tournaments became a major revenue stream. • She hires contractors to scale for events. • Her long‑term goal is “mailbox money”—a business run by a team while she steps away from hands-on work. 7. Alternative…

[0:38] Speaker 1: let's get this podcast started. My guess It's a skilled

[0:45] Speaker 1: and eighteen. Her approach blends relaxation techniques with therapeutic methods,
[0:50] Speaker 1: creating personalized sessions that promote alignment, balance, and overall wellness

[0:58] Speaker 1: helping her clients restore the health and vitality through alternative treatments.
[1:03] Speaker 1: Please welcome to the Money Making Conversation Masterclass the massage
[1:07] Speaker 1: therapists from Greenville, South Carolina, Jasmine Hood. How you doing, Jassin,
[1:12] Speaker 1: I'm doing good.
[1:13] Speaker 2: How are you doing today?
[1:14] Speaker 1: I had to say Greenville, South Carolina because a lot
[1:16] Speaker 1: of people may not know what Greenville, South Carolina at,
[1:18] Speaker 1: but I do because when I was doing stand up
[1:20] Speaker 1: comedy back in the day, I went to Greenville, South
[1:23] Speaker 1: Carolina played the Punchline comedy clubs. I don't think they
[1:26] Speaker 1: are theyven that'd be open there anymore. But I had
[1:29] Speaker 1: a lot of good times in Greenville, South Carolina. But
[1:31] Speaker 1: you started, you became a massage therapist in twenty and eighteen.
[1:35] Speaker 1: What were you doing prior to that decision making you
[1:38] Speaker 1: move in your life?
[1:39] Speaker 2: Correct?
[1:39] Speaker 3: I was a CNA in Greenville in twenty seventeen before
[1:44] Speaker 3: I decided to make the move to Atlanta. So I
[1:46] Speaker 3: was there helping people in the hospital, and then I
[1:49] Speaker 3: just felt like I just wanted something different, So I
[1:52] Speaker 3: moved here for a change, and I made that change.
[1:55] Speaker 1: So you did a change for just socially because there's
[1:59] Speaker 1: a different but also career wise. How does one make
[2:03] Speaker 1: a career decision like that?
[2:05] Speaker 3: I'm just asking it really just I just jumped up
[2:08] Speaker 3: and just moved like I didn't know anyone, don't have
[2:11] Speaker 3: any family here, just said I'm just gonna move to
[2:14] Speaker 3: Atlanta and just started over.
[2:16] Speaker 1: And so a lot of people are that's fear, and
[2:19] Speaker 1: fear was obviously not an issue with you because you
[2:21] Speaker 1: didn't know anyone you was making the career change. What
[2:25] Speaker 1: makes you not worry about the consequences when it comes
[2:31] Speaker 1: to making the decision like that, because it is a consequence,
[2:34] Speaker 1: because you can't fail. You come move to a place
[2:36] Speaker 1: that's unsafe, and you may not meet anybody that likes you.
[2:41] Speaker 3: Well, I think for me it was easy because my
[2:43] Speaker 3: mom she did it. So she moved and she moved
[2:46] Speaker 3: to Myrtle Beach and so she left me and my
[2:49] Speaker 3: brothers in Greenville. So I'm like, well, so she left,
[2:51] Speaker 3: won't have nowhere to go back to. So I'm like, okay,
[2:53] Speaker 3: well let me just venture off as well. And of course,
[2:57] Speaker 3: you know, things happen, right, But Mom's a call away. Hey,
[3:02] Speaker 3: I'm in a situation.
[3:03] Speaker 2: Can you send me some money?
[3:06] Speaker 1: It's good they have that phone called you know now,
[3:09] Speaker 1: Adjasmine a massage therapist.
[3:11] Speaker 2: What exactly is that a massage therapist.
[3:15] Speaker 3: We are basically licensed people that helps you make you
[3:19] Speaker 3: aware of your body. We help loosen you up, get
[3:22] Speaker 3: out those kinks, the tension that you carry in your body.
[3:25] Speaker 3: A lot of us we carry problems, or I say just.
[3:31] Speaker 2: Trauma.
[3:32] Speaker 3: Basically, we all carry trauma in our lives. So when
[3:35] Speaker 3: you at work, you get stressed. It all it all
[3:39] Speaker 3: ends up in your body. So if you work at
[3:41] Speaker 3: this a lot of people will have tension in the
[3:43] Speaker 3: nick and shoulders because they're tense. Stuff like this, typing
[3:46] Speaker 3: all the time. And so I'm there to help release it.
[3:49] Speaker 3: And so if you don't release it, it's just keep
[3:51] Speaker 3: getting built up and built up, and it makes people angry.
[3:54] Speaker 1: Okay, so you're so, I'm not going to act like
[3:57] Speaker 1: I don't know, but I do know that I've had
[4:00] Speaker 1: massage and I can't say massage correct.
[4:04] Speaker 2: You can't say massage.
[4:06] Speaker 1: I want to make sure I'm using the right language.
[4:08] Speaker 1: And I've had the deep tissue which is painful. I've
[4:14] Speaker 1: actually told people to stop. Okay, oh wow, And because
[4:18] Speaker 1: that's where they get in with the thumbs. So please,
[4:22] Speaker 1: for my audience, explain to them the three popular massages
[4:27] Speaker 1: that people request and what exactly are you achieving with
[4:30] Speaker 1: each one of them.
[4:31] Speaker 3: So you have Swedish, which many people get for the
[4:34] Speaker 3: first time because they don't know what to expect. Then
[4:37] Speaker 3: they just want to relax. It's all head to toe.
[4:41] Speaker 3: You just want to relax, and like, I just I'm stressed.
[4:44] Speaker 3: I got all these issues going on at work at home.
[4:47] Speaker 3: It's like, just just relax me. So it's just gentle.
[4:50] Speaker 3: You're not really trying to work out any kinks or anything.
[4:52] Speaker 3: They just really just want.
[4:53] Speaker 2: To relax, so it's not that much pressure, okay.
[4:56] Speaker 3: And then deep tissue is like if you have ache
[4:58] Speaker 3: and pain, like you just have something is just bothering
[5:01] Speaker 3: you and I.
[5:02] Speaker 2: Need you to get in there. That's deep tissue.
[5:04] Speaker 3: So you might be working out a trigger point. But
[5:06] Speaker 3: the thing about the point a trigger point okay, So
[5:09] Speaker 3: a trigger point it's basically what's causing pain. Like you
[5:12] Speaker 3: feeling some pain, like I just can't get rid of it.
[5:14] Speaker 3: That's a trigger point. Like you may not feel it
[5:17] Speaker 3: in you're moving, but when you sit down you're like,
[5:19] Speaker 3: oh my gosh, I got this sharp pain right here. Okay,
[5:21] Speaker 3: it's a trigger point. So that's your body laying you know, hey,
[5:24] Speaker 3: something going on right here when it does work this out.
[5:27] Speaker 3: And so the thing with deep tissue is you can't
[5:29] Speaker 3: do a full body deep tissue. Is you just focus
[5:31] Speaker 3: on that one area that's bothering. But some people they
[5:34] Speaker 3: like more of a medium to firm pressure. Okay, so
[5:38] Speaker 3: it's not all this deep the whole time.
[5:40] Speaker 1: Right That was when I just said was very painful
[5:42] Speaker 1: to me because I had some body ache. So I
[5:46] Speaker 1: thought the deep tissue would get rid of it. It
[5:50] Speaker 1: just created more pain for me and I wasn't happy.
[5:53] Speaker 1: So what are some of the safe words that somebody
[5:58] Speaker 1: can use when they having a massaut.
[6:00] Speaker 3: We all, well, at least for me, I always say, well,
[6:02] Speaker 3: if it gets to be too much, let me know,
[6:05] Speaker 3: don't be afraid to speak up, because I want to
[6:07] Speaker 3: do the pressure that you're able to tolerate. And so
[6:10] Speaker 3: for a deep tissue, for some people, if it's hurting,
[6:13] Speaker 3: they might have went deep too fast because you have
[6:15] Speaker 3: to loosen the muscles up first to get the body
[6:17] Speaker 3: used to, especially if you haven't had a massage on
[6:19] Speaker 3: a long time. So for people that get massages on
[6:21] Speaker 3: the regular, which it could be bi weekly or monthly,
[6:24] Speaker 3: they can take deep tissue because that's what everybody is
[6:26] Speaker 3: used to. But if you haven't had one in over
[6:28] Speaker 3: a year or so, you need to just stick the su.
[6:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, just the sweetest because it's gonna hurt.
[6:36] Speaker 3: And the third one, the third one is sports massage, okay,
[6:40] Speaker 3: and so with that it includes more it's more fast
[6:43] Speaker 3: and stretching. If you play sports, so basketball, football, golf,
[6:48] Speaker 3: and you just really need to be stretched out and
[6:49] Speaker 3: loosened up. So it's a mixture of everything.
[6:53] Speaker 1: I tell you this. You know, I watch people walk
[6:56] Speaker 1: around a lot, you know, and I'm over sixty, and
[7:00] Speaker 1: I go, I don't walk like that, you know, they
[7:03] Speaker 1: walk leaning forward, or they they shrid, strides are short.
[7:07] Speaker 1: It is with my listeners, what what what are we
[7:11] Speaker 1: doing wrong? And how could you help us stand straight
[7:14] Speaker 1: and lengthen our strides.
[7:16] Speaker 3: Well, I always tell people in between massages, the best
[7:19] Speaker 3: thing you can do is stretch, okay, So if you
[7:21] Speaker 3: don't use it, you're gonna lose it. So you got
[7:23] Speaker 3: to lengthen your muscles. And the most people will.
[7:25] Speaker 1: When you say that, what do you mean lifting your
[7:27] Speaker 1: muscles stretching?
[7:28] Speaker 2: So they think that just doing theologize.
[7:31] Speaker 1: I guess I want some techniques.
[7:33] Speaker 2: Right, your example.
[7:35] Speaker 3: So most people think stretching is they're just doing this
[7:38] Speaker 3: and just moving around like, no, you gotta at least
[7:41] Speaker 3: hold it.
[7:41] Speaker 1: Thirty We're doing an audio podcast too. Now no, we
[7:45] Speaker 1: have cameras here, but can you're pulling your arm this?
[7:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, so you want to do head to shoulder like
[7:52] Speaker 3: the next stretch. Every stretch you do should be held
[7:55] Speaker 3: thirty seconds too. Many some people they think just doing rolls.
[7:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, stretching me not stretching.
[8:00] Speaker 3: You're just rolling your neck. Stretch is meant to be held.
[8:04] Speaker 3: So that's how you lengthen your muscles.
[8:07] Speaker 1: Okay, cool, So that was the like taking your arms, yes,
[8:11] Speaker 1: extremely to the right or to the left, yes, to
[8:14] Speaker 1: the left, holding.
[8:15] Speaker 2: It and that's the perfect stretch is.
[8:17] Speaker 1: Not a roll, but actually taking your hand and maybe
[8:21] Speaker 1: put add an additional pressure to pull it to the
[8:23] Speaker 1: right or to the left. That's the next stretching.
[8:25] Speaker 2: Correct.
[8:26] Speaker 1: Okay, now that's upper body. Okay, what about the core area?
[8:31] Speaker 3: The core well, I would say mainly the lower back.
[8:33] Speaker 3: When people have issuesky sitting a lot, I say I
[8:37] Speaker 3: always tell people cross your leg over, which men do,
[8:41] Speaker 3: and then just lean forward and it's going to stretch
[8:43] Speaker 3: all of your lower back, and I say, if you're
[8:46] Speaker 3: holding it long enough, you're going.
[8:47] Speaker 1: To feel the key is holding it.
[8:50] Speaker 2: Yes, holding it.
[8:51] Speaker 3: Don't do one of these little one too. You're doing
[8:55] Speaker 3: nothing and the muscles haven't even engaged yet.
[8:57] Speaker 2: You already let go?
[8:58] Speaker 1: Okay, cool, now we got so that sounded like something
[9:03] Speaker 1: that I could actually do at my.
[9:04] Speaker 2: Desk, exactly, exactly.
[9:07] Speaker 3: So I always tell people to set a timer, especially
[9:09] Speaker 3: if you work at from home or sit at a desk,
[9:11] Speaker 3: set a timer every hour to stand up and stretch
[9:13] Speaker 3: because you need that. Because you get comfortable, you get
[9:16] Speaker 3: lost in work, you forget what time it is. Time slips.
[9:19] Speaker 2: Stretch is easy.
[9:21] Speaker 3: So you can either just cross your leg over, lean forward,
[9:23] Speaker 3: or you can turn left the right. Just hold it.
[9:28] Speaker 1: Cool Now, this is good because let me ask you this.
[9:33] Speaker 1: I fly a lot on a plane, which annoys because
[9:37] Speaker 1: everybody thinks, just you know, you can fly, you're sitting down,
[9:40] Speaker 1: that's what's what's the stress? What's the stress? But I
[9:43] Speaker 1: do feel stressed when I fly. So what techniques can
[9:48] Speaker 1: you offer the people who are sitting in a position
[9:52] Speaker 1: for a long period of time? Long periods of times
[9:54] Speaker 1: me like fifty minutes a longer. And that's basically on
[9:58] Speaker 1: a flight unless you get up and I try to
[9:59] Speaker 1: get periodical or in any flight, I do techniques of
[10:03] Speaker 1: what we can do from your experience being a massage therapist,
[10:07] Speaker 1: what we can help to make our life better on the.
[10:11] Speaker 2: Plane or off the plane.
[10:12] Speaker 3: On the plane, oh wow, well you know you don't
[10:14] Speaker 3: have that much room to stretch on the plane. So
[10:18] Speaker 3: mainly I'll say just stand up in the owl and
[10:22] Speaker 3: touch your toes so and like say hold it at
[10:25] Speaker 3: least thirty seconds to a minute, because that helps with
[10:28] Speaker 3: your lower back as well. Everything goes to your lower back.
[10:31] Speaker 3: As long as your.
[10:32] Speaker 2: Hips are loose, h you will be good.
[10:34] Speaker 3: So your hamstrings pull on your lower back, your quads
[10:37] Speaker 3: pull on your lower back. Everything leads to your lower back,
[10:40] Speaker 3: which makes everything tight. So stretch your hips because once
[10:43] Speaker 3: your hips are loose, everything else feels much better.
[10:45] Speaker 1: Let's let's just pull let's pull the cover off. You
[10:49] Speaker 1: are traveling barsage therapists, correct, So you rich and athletes
[10:54] Speaker 1: and you know, look, let's be real. Deshaun Watson made
[10:58] Speaker 1: the news. The kicking for the Altimore Ravens made the
[11:01] Speaker 1: news or how they was just they extended their their
[11:05] Speaker 1: ideas about what they wanted from a massage therapist. Then
[11:09] Speaker 1: the person wanted to both of them. One lost his
[11:13] Speaker 1: job in Baltimore and the other got a contract, but
[11:16] Speaker 1: he's a pariah in the community, and one has been
[11:19] Speaker 1: banned in all the Bazar therapy facilities in uh Baltimore.
[11:24] Speaker 1: How do you protect yourself, Jasmine?
[11:27] Speaker 2: With that?
[11:28] Speaker 3: If someone in books with me that I never met before,
[11:32] Speaker 3: I'll call them just to make sure. I'm like, hey,
[11:35] Speaker 3: what kind of massage are you looking for? And if
[11:38] Speaker 3: they start going.
[11:39] Speaker 2: Sideways, Oh yeah.
[11:42] Speaker 3: I have people call and they're like do you They
[11:44] Speaker 3: just say do you provide neural or sensual massages?
[11:47] Speaker 2: And I just go ahead and say no, this is.
[11:49] Speaker 1: Therapeutic only, Okay.
[11:52] Speaker 2: So people are bold and they will call and ask.
[11:55] Speaker 1: Wow, yes. So so obviously if they're there are people
[12:00] Speaker 1: out there that's doing.
[12:01] Speaker 3: That exactly exactly. So it's been going on for a while.
[12:06] Speaker 3: I don't know if you heard, but a couple of
[12:08] Speaker 3: weeks ago and the Sandy Springs that it all arraid
[12:11] Speaker 3: at two massage parlors right because they were doing it Springs.
[12:15] Speaker 1: The location in Atlanta, Georgia kind of like an uploaded
[12:18] Speaker 1: mobile area of Atlanta, Georgia, and so they were doing
[12:22] Speaker 1: other things under just massage exactly. But that hurts your reputation,
[12:27] Speaker 1: doesn't hurt your business brand, doesn't it?
[12:30] Speaker 3: No, Because I'll let it out be known. That's not
[12:32] Speaker 3: what I provided my services, and people they respect that,
[12:36] Speaker 3: and like right now, I work a lot with the golfers.
[12:39] Speaker 3: I do the golf tournaments, and so they see me,
[12:41] Speaker 3: they get excited. They know everybody knows she's about her business.
[12:45] Speaker 1: Right right, right right. So I just won't get in
[12:47] Speaker 1: touch with you, Jazz.
[12:49] Speaker 3: You can call me, you can look me up on
[12:52] Speaker 3: Google Better Body's Massage and go on my website.
[12:55] Speaker 1: Talk really fast? What was that?
[12:56] Speaker 2: Sorry?
[12:57] Speaker 3: You can go on my website Better bodiesatl dot com,
[13:01] Speaker 3: or you can google me at Better Bodies Massage.
[13:05] Speaker 2: You can find me there. You can say you can
[13:08] Speaker 2: call me.
[13:08] Speaker 3: My number is on there as well for zero four
[13:11] Speaker 3: five nine four eighteen thirty two, so I'm easy to find.
[13:15] Speaker 2: Really.
[13:16] Speaker 1: Now, you're a small business owner, we always have these
[13:20] Speaker 1: as you know, there's no guarantees. Can you talk to
[13:23] Speaker 1: my audience about being a small business owner and how
[13:25] Speaker 1: you started your business.
[13:28] Speaker 3: I started my business right after COVID during that time,
[13:34] Speaker 3: between twenty nineteen and twenty twenty one, I was working
[13:37] Speaker 3: at Hand and Stone and then I was like, okay,
[13:39] Speaker 3: during that time, I was building my own clientele up
[13:43] Speaker 3: and so on. How the COVID happened. I did that
[13:46] Speaker 3: last year and I said, all right, it's time to
[13:48] Speaker 3: branch out. And of course, you know, business is slow,
[13:51] Speaker 3: it has its moments, but you just continue to go
[13:54] Speaker 3: out there and network, introduce yourself, call around.
[13:58] Speaker 2: Let people notice what you do.
[14:00] Speaker 3: And right now I just use my network because a
[14:03] Speaker 3: lot of people know I know, either people either have
[14:06] Speaker 3: their own business or they work with someone that they
[14:09] Speaker 3: can use. So I'm like, hey, let me just call around.
[14:12] Speaker 3: And it's still constantly calling around, Hey can you use
[14:15] Speaker 3: my services? So some days it's easy and some days
[14:19] Speaker 3: it's like all right, I don't know.
[14:23] Speaker 1: Well, so when you travel, what do you travel with?
[14:28] Speaker 3: I have my table for the most part, always a
[14:31] Speaker 3: table for full body massages, but right now I'm leaning
[14:34] Speaker 3: more towards corporate events, so I do a lot of
[14:37] Speaker 3: chair massages, and I have a team that will go
[14:40] Speaker 3: out and do that as well.
[14:41] Speaker 2: You have a team, it's a small team.
[14:44] Speaker 3: I have contractors, Okay, So if I need extra hands,
[14:47] Speaker 3: I have contractors that all have come out with me.
[14:50] Speaker 1: So with that being said, what's the spa party?
[14:53] Speaker 2: Okay?
[14:53] Speaker 3: A spot party would be like if the ladies wanted
[14:55] Speaker 3: to do something for Mother's Day or Gallentine's They'll say, hey,
[15:00] Speaker 3: we want to do this. We're getting together and we
[15:02] Speaker 3: would love to have massages, and so I will come
[15:04] Speaker 3: or I have someone else come out and we will
[15:06] Speaker 3: do chair massages, and so they'll book us for like
[15:09] Speaker 3: two or three hours, so everyone will get maybe ten
[15:11] Speaker 3: or fifteen minutes, depending on how many women it is.
[15:14] Speaker 1: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
[15:17] Speaker 1: money Making Conversations master Class. Now, I need for you

[15:35] Speaker 1: follow or subscribe Money Making Conversations. Welcome back to Money
[15:42] Speaker 1: Making Conversations master Class with me Rashaun McDonald. Is this
[15:46] Speaker 1: a seasonal up here where you're really hot everybody calling it?
[15:50] Speaker 1: Or is a slow periods?
[15:53] Speaker 3: I say, it's always slow between December and January, and
[15:56] Speaker 3: then of course February picks up because it's Valad we'll get.
[15:59] Speaker 1: Fined again exactly.
[16:03] Speaker 3: And then once April hits, I'm hitting the ground running
[16:05] Speaker 3: because it's golf tournament after golf tournament, so I travel
[16:09] Speaker 3: for those as well.
[16:10] Speaker 1: Okay, you know, I'm excited about this interview because first
[16:14] Speaker 1: of all, you're you're an entrepreneur from a standpoint. You travel,
[16:17] Speaker 1: you know you you know have massage.
[16:19] Speaker 2: Will travel, you know, you have follow the money.
[16:22] Speaker 1: You follow the money. Now, how were you able to
[16:25] Speaker 1: create these relationships when you say golf tournament?
[16:30] Speaker 2: I actually met a guy at the g s MBC.
[16:34] Speaker 2: What is that Georgia Minority?
[16:37] Speaker 1: What is the yes?
[16:41] Speaker 2: So I got because of the.
[16:43] Speaker 1: Fact that that's networking correct, Okay.
[16:45] Speaker 3: So I got certified in that. And then when we
[16:47] Speaker 3: had our was it the meeting, I met a guy
[16:52] Speaker 3: there that was also certified and he was like, oh,
[16:54] Speaker 3: we do golf tournaments.
[16:55] Speaker 2: You might be a good fit. And I was like, okay, well,
[16:58] Speaker 2: let me know what the event is.
[16:59] Speaker 3: So I started doing that last April, and so it's
[17:02] Speaker 3: about to be a year in and I've met so
[17:05] Speaker 3: had so many connections because every time I meet someone
[17:07] Speaker 3: at a golf tournament, someone else is in another golf
[17:10] Speaker 3: club or they know someone else and they're like, hey,
[17:13] Speaker 3: we want to we would love to have you out,
[17:14] Speaker 3: because we never experienced a massage therapist at the golf
[17:17] Speaker 3: course that the stretch us out before we t off.
[17:19] Speaker 1: I'm not a massage guy, you know, but I will
[17:23] Speaker 1: get a massage with the thought process that it's gonna
[17:26] Speaker 1: make me feel better exactly. Okay. Now when I say that,
[17:30] Speaker 1: here's the problem I have with the traveling massage people. Okay,
[17:34] Speaker 1: because I'm going to go to sleep, Okay, then I'm
[17:37] Speaker 1: gonna then any massage person let me. Then they gonna
[17:41] Speaker 1: wake me up. If somebody could just besides me and
[17:45] Speaker 1: just let me hang and just tap me on the
[17:47] Speaker 1: head and just walk out, I might be happy. What
[17:51] Speaker 1: bothers me a ruins. The moment for Rashan McDonald's is
[17:55] Speaker 1: to wake up, and you have to go up.
[17:58] Speaker 3: You have to wake up, okay, the only way that
[18:00] Speaker 3: will work.
[18:01] Speaker 2: And some of my clients and some of my clients
[18:03] Speaker 2: have this.
[18:04] Speaker 1: Okay, cool, so I'm not I'm not crazy.
[18:07] Speaker 3: I don't know, but some people have. This is if
[18:11] Speaker 3: you have your own massage table, I do. Okay, then
[18:15] Speaker 3: you have your al massage table.
[18:17] Speaker 2: You could stay there as long as you want to.
[18:18] Speaker 1: I'm gone, okay, cool.
[18:20] Speaker 2: Have your own table and you have your own everything.
[18:22] Speaker 1: Coolge. So how did you come up about setting your rates?
[18:28] Speaker 1: And then what are your rates?
[18:29] Speaker 2: Okay?
[18:31] Speaker 3: Well, of course you know, starting out, you're just trying
[18:33] Speaker 3: to build up your clientele, so everything.
[18:35] Speaker 1: Just start start out race.
[18:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, so I used to work hard, so I started.
[18:39] Speaker 3: I used to do I started with seventy five dollars,
[18:42] Speaker 3: and I used to do like fifty dollars, seventy dollars,
[18:45] Speaker 3: seventy five dollars for an hour and me coming to you,
[18:46] Speaker 3: that's a still.
[18:48] Speaker 1: That's I used and this was back there will flow exactly.
[18:53] Speaker 3: And you know, I was so surprised that people didn't
[18:56] Speaker 3: jump on it like I thought they would and I
[18:57] Speaker 3: would have a special fifty dollars Friday. I used to
[19:00] Speaker 3: work hard for the fifty dollars.
[19:03] Speaker 2: And so, you know, I thought a couple of years
[19:05] Speaker 2: went by.
[19:05] Speaker 3: You know, I know my worth and I want to
[19:07] Speaker 3: make sure everyone that I touch has a good massage
[19:10] Speaker 3: because I've had people complain and say, oh that was terrible.
[19:13] Speaker 2: All she did was just reblotion.
[19:14] Speaker 3: On me, and I'm like, oh yeah, no, everyone a massage.
[19:18] Speaker 3: They're going to have a great massage and you're going
[19:20] Speaker 3: to leave their happyople Whatever issue that you had, it's
[19:23] Speaker 3: going to be fixed.
[19:25] Speaker 1: Now. We talked about athletes and men. That's the preferred
[19:27] Speaker 1: choice of people you like the massage. Is there a
[19:30] Speaker 1: target audists the target age that you look at for
[19:33] Speaker 1: your clients, because it seems to me, it seems to
[19:36] Speaker 1: me like, first of all, I enjoy the way you're
[19:38] Speaker 1: talking approaching this. You know, when it's a bigger party,
[19:41] Speaker 1: bring contracted people to like at a spa party or
[19:45] Speaker 1: an event at a golf tournament where you need more
[19:47] Speaker 1: than just you. But it's under your umbrella, okay, under
[19:51] Speaker 1: your insurance. Everything is tied through your brand. But there
[19:55] Speaker 1: has to be a target audience that generally is the
[19:58] Speaker 1: people that you see out Who are they?
[20:02] Speaker 3: I want the big businesses that's where the money is
[20:05] Speaker 3: really No, yeah, so if the work work smarter than
[20:08] Speaker 3: not older. So my thing is to really do just
[20:10] Speaker 3: more corporate events where we just do chair massages. Okay,
[20:13] Speaker 3: because it's easy all that do just come in, set
[20:15] Speaker 3: up in and out. It's just you touch people for
[20:18] Speaker 3: ten maybe fifteen minutes and keep moving because most people,
[20:21] Speaker 3: most people, like I said, most people don't really get
[20:23] Speaker 3: massages like they should. So if I could just touch
[20:26] Speaker 3: them for that moment and still make my money and
[20:28] Speaker 3: go on by my way.
[20:30] Speaker 2: But everyone whatever is going.
[20:36] Speaker 1: I don't know, but I want to ask you this question.
[20:39] Speaker 1: You said in your my interview here or our introduce you.
[20:43] Speaker 1: You said alternative treatments. What exactly is that?
[20:48] Speaker 3: So with that they can do cuping, cupping. So I
[20:52] Speaker 3: don't know if you've ever seen like the athletes that
[20:54] Speaker 3: have like the circles on their back. Yeah, that's cupping.
[20:59] Speaker 1: So it's time to heat, isn't it.
[21:03] Speaker 2: You can do heat.
[21:04] Speaker 3: You can do it with heat, okay, But so it's
[21:07] Speaker 3: it's to help loosen up the blood.
[21:09] Speaker 1: So explain to my audience exactly what that is. I
[21:13] Speaker 1: gotta get you visual. You are just so just talking
[21:17] Speaker 1: a podcast. I know we got cameras because we do
[21:20] Speaker 1: video too, but I.
[21:21] Speaker 2: Got hands on. I should I should have brought my table.
[21:26] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[21:27] Speaker 3: So cuffing is a form of where your muscles is
[21:31] Speaker 3: tight and it helps loosen it up, so it brings
[21:34] Speaker 3: out the bad blood and pulled in.
[21:36] Speaker 2: The good blood. So it's helping move it, flush it out.
[21:38] Speaker 1: But how do they do that? It's like, is it
[21:40] Speaker 1: one cup? It just moved through your what do you do?
[21:43] Speaker 2: You can do one cup and just move it up
[21:45] Speaker 2: and down the back or whatever the area.
[21:47] Speaker 1: Does it create a sumption?
[21:49] Speaker 2: It is? Ye, it's a suction.
[21:50] Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So so I got the cup right, and
[21:54] Speaker 1: then so what happens?
[21:55] Speaker 3: So you got the cup on there, so first you
[21:57] Speaker 3: pumped the cup. It's like air, that would normal. No,
[22:03] Speaker 3: so you help it suck so it'll suck to the body.
[22:06] Speaker 3: And so once you get in there, you can figure
[22:08] Speaker 3: out how tight or how loose you will want it
[22:10] Speaker 3: to be, and with that you can move it or
[22:12] Speaker 3: you can just sit it there and let the blood
[22:13] Speaker 3: come up.
[22:14] Speaker 1: So that so it just and you can just I'm
[22:17] Speaker 1: just using as an example. You create a suction and
[22:21] Speaker 1: you can just slide it down your back anybody just lifting.
[22:26] Speaker 1: It's almost like it's just kind of like lifting your
[22:28] Speaker 1: skin and recirculating stuff.
[22:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, in a way, it's helping that blood flow because
[22:33] Speaker 3: blood gets trapped and suck when you have like a
[22:36] Speaker 3: nod or adhesion. It's trapped there, so the blood is
[22:40] Speaker 3: trying to find another way to go through the body.
[22:42] Speaker 3: So that's just another form of loosening it I've never
[22:45] Speaker 3: heard of before.
[22:46] Speaker 1: That sounds interesting. Yes, oh wow, conversation massacree. Let me
[22:53] Speaker 1: ask you this question too, well, I'm asking you, just
[22:55] Speaker 1: ask me what is the what's the experience? I should say,
[22:59] Speaker 1: what is the jazz and the experience that you bring
[23:02] Speaker 1: to the table. Even though like if you sit in
[23:05] Speaker 1: the studio, you walk in, you hear the room with
[23:08] Speaker 1: the music. You know, they sit you in a room,
[23:12] Speaker 1: give you a little steal water, you got your little
[23:15] Speaker 1: sandals on, but you're not doing that. You're traveling, correct,
[23:19] Speaker 1: What experience do you bring?
[23:21] Speaker 3: So my experience is it's all about you. So we're
[23:25] Speaker 3: in the comfort of your home. So you can play
[23:27] Speaker 3: whatever music you want to play, whatever helps you relax.
[23:29] Speaker 3: You don't have to listen to the birds or water.
[23:32] Speaker 3: If you want to listen to some instrumentals, jazz or
[23:34] Speaker 3: whatever helps you relax, you can do that because you're
[23:37] Speaker 3: in the comfort of your home. Right And like I said,
[23:40] Speaker 3: once you do that and once you once we're done,
[23:42] Speaker 3: the best part is you don't have to get dressed
[23:45] Speaker 3: in and get out of traffic. You're at home, so
[23:48] Speaker 3: you just roll over in bed. Everybody is comfortable, and
[23:51] Speaker 3: so that's that's the experience. You just get to be
[23:53] Speaker 3: yourself at home.
[23:54] Speaker 1: Okay. Cool. Now a part of this whole process is
[23:57] Speaker 1: getting paid. Okay, how does that work with you? You know,
[24:03] Speaker 1: here's my whole thing. Now, First of all, I commend
[24:05] Speaker 1: you you you're a courageous person. And I got to
[24:08] Speaker 1: say that honestly, because in the world we live in,
[24:11] Speaker 1: there's a lot of crazy stuff going on out there.
[24:14] Speaker 1: And you're in a business where you're asking people to
[24:16] Speaker 1: take off their clothes, which is even more like really
[24:20] Speaker 1: that's what you do with jazz. Youre going to some people,
[24:23] Speaker 1: even though you know them or not, you still asking
[24:25] Speaker 1: them to take off their clothes so that one day
[24:28] Speaker 1: of the year they can be crazy. Okay, correct? And
[24:30] Speaker 1: then then now you're asking them for money. How does
[24:34] Speaker 1: the payment system work?
[24:36] Speaker 3: So I can get paid either if you book on
[24:38] Speaker 3: my website, you can go ahead and pay in advance,
[24:41] Speaker 3: use your card, I use tab zay'll cash up. I
[24:46] Speaker 3: pretty much take any form of payment itself.
[24:49] Speaker 2: Like I got it all. Thenomo I'm getting paid. I'm
[24:53] Speaker 2: leaving here with something.
[24:58] Speaker 1: That's very very funny. A And now again before we go,
[25:02] Speaker 1: I want people to understand how they can book you.
[25:04] Speaker 3: Once again, you can book me on my website, which
[25:07] Speaker 3: is Better bodiesatl dot com.
[25:10] Speaker 1: As we close out this interview, you know and you're
[25:12] Speaker 1: you're what's the future? What do you want to go?
[25:15] Speaker 1: You know you you an individual, but you do hire contractors.
[25:19] Speaker 1: Are you trying to create a franchise, a traveling franchise?
[25:22] Speaker 1: What's the goal? Because I know that you don't want
[25:25] Speaker 1: to be you know, you want mailbox money like everybody
[25:28] Speaker 1: else want mailbox money. What is the end goal for
[25:30] Speaker 1: Jasmine Hood?
[25:31] Speaker 3: Yes, I do not plan on being hands on forever.
[25:35] Speaker 3: The goal is right now, I'm putting in the sweat equity, okay,
[25:38] Speaker 3: building my brand up. And the goal is just to
[25:41] Speaker 3: have a team of contractors where I can just send
[25:44] Speaker 3: them out where they're needed, just for chair massage.
[25:46] Speaker 1: So what is what is your brain? What is your brain?
[25:49] Speaker 1: You said it? What is your brand up? What are
[25:51] Speaker 1: you building up?
[25:52] Speaker 3: I'm building no Better Bodies. Everyone is going to know
[25:55] Speaker 3: this is the Moba massarge therapist. She can come out
[25:58] Speaker 3: for the golf tournaments.
[25:59] Speaker 2: Corporate events.
[26:00] Speaker 3: I do schools, nursing homes, just anywhere that's needed.
[26:05] Speaker 2: That's that's bare the bodies.
[26:06] Speaker 1: And with that being said, so when they go to
[26:08] Speaker 1: the website, can they contact you through the website?
[26:11] Speaker 3: They absolutely can. They can fill out a form or
[26:14] Speaker 3: they can just call me or email me.
[26:16] Speaker 2: It's all there.
[26:17] Speaker 1: Okay, cool? With that being said, my friend, I've interviewed
[26:22] Speaker 1: uh massage therapists on the show before, but never a
[26:27] Speaker 1: traveling massage therapist before, which I when I saw it,
[26:31] Speaker 1: I'd say, I want to talk to her, because you know,
[26:34] Speaker 1: we live in a world that you know, you have
[26:36] Speaker 1: to be cautious about the environment you walk into and
[26:40] Speaker 1: if you have to get any any anybody advice, mail
[26:43] Speaker 1: off email, what were some of the downside of what
[26:46] Speaker 1: you're doing, which is not so much down that as negative,
[26:49] Speaker 1: but you know, there are some struggles we all encounter,
[26:52] Speaker 1: and then what makes you feel good about your job.
[26:57] Speaker 3: Luckily, I have not ran into too many crazy people
[27:00] Speaker 3: besides the ones that actually just call and ask about
[27:03] Speaker 3: the ahead of time. Yes, and so me being that,
[27:06] Speaker 3: I haven't been in a situation where it's like, oh,
[27:08] Speaker 3: you have been uncomfortable exactly, or my back is against
[27:11] Speaker 3: the wall. But I always say just always let the
[27:14] Speaker 3: people out. If it's someone new, I always make sure
[27:16] Speaker 3: I see them in the daytime. There's no evenings. I
[27:19] Speaker 3: take my last appointment at seven pm, so it's like
[27:22] Speaker 3: if i'd never seen you on massage before. It gotta
[27:25] Speaker 3: be early in the morning or early afternoon. That's just
[27:28] Speaker 3: to protect myself and I always have my location on
[27:32] Speaker 3: people going to know, hey, I'm seeing a new client.
[27:35] Speaker 2: If you don't hear back, check on me.
[27:38] Speaker 1: Well, my friend. Thank you for coming to my sh
