[0:35] Speaker 1: advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Now, let's
[0:38] Speaker 1: get this podcast started. My guess It's a highly sought
[0:41] Speaker 1: after international motivational speaker, award winning author, and personal developing
[0:47] Speaker 1: strategists who helps people take an object or objective look
[0:52] Speaker 1: at themselves. I'm talking about look in the mirror type approach.
[0:55] Speaker 1: His slogan is making motivational personal by introducing you to yourself.
[1:01] Speaker 1: Please welcome with the Money Making Conversations Masterclass, Doctor CHACONI Prince,
[1:07] Speaker 1: How you doing, Doctor Prince.
[1:08] Speaker 3: I'm doing finding you.
[1:10] Speaker 1: We've been long time, brother, been long time, and I'm
[1:14] Speaker 1: gonna tell you something. Man, My daughter she loves you. Man.
[1:17] Speaker 3: Uh.
[1:17] Speaker 1: You know, she always listened to my podcast because she
[1:20] Speaker 1: edits them and she's an audio engineer and she sends
[1:23] Speaker 1: them out because we're syndicated on twenty HBCUs nationwide podcast
[1:29] Speaker 1: also cears XM HBCUs. So we have a far reach
[1:35] Speaker 1: about we promote our material and so we want to
[1:38] Speaker 1: get out that correctly. And she says, I love mister Prince.
[1:42] Speaker 1: Doctor Prince is really really impressive. So that's coming from
[1:46] Speaker 1: my daughter. You know, she's under thirty. And so you
[1:48] Speaker 1: got the young folks, brother, you got the young folks
[1:50] Speaker 1: like me, yet got the young folks loveing.
[1:51] Speaker 3: Hey, hey, hey, I am just glad to be able
[1:54] Speaker 3: to get him back.
[1:55] Speaker 1: Well good, Well you're getting back to me because we
[1:58] Speaker 1: met own this on my radio show. So what you're
[2:01] Speaker 1: into nowadays? So before we really get into this interview, sir.
[2:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, well, actually I think since last week talk, I
[2:08] Speaker 3: got my honorary doctor in humanities. Uh. And you know
[2:11] Speaker 3: one of the things that I tell people, and I
[2:13] Speaker 3: don't care if you have an extra doctor or an
[2:15] Speaker 3: honorary one. My question to anybody who asks doctor in
[2:18] Speaker 3: front of their name, my questionnaire is this, who are
[2:22] Speaker 3: you healing? Right? Okay, because just because you have that title,
[2:29] Speaker 3: it doesn't you have to be doing something with it.
[2:32] Speaker 3: It's so my focus is again helping to heal those
[2:36] Speaker 3: people who God sends my way and who I can
[2:38] Speaker 3: encourage and motivate and to really introduce them to themselves.
[2:42] Speaker 2: Right now, do you have a degree in electrical engineering?
[2:45] Speaker 3: That?
[2:45] Speaker 2: Am I wrong when I say that?
[2:47] Speaker 3: No? No, no, no, I have a fast disagree in having
[2:52] Speaker 3: a social degree in electronics and a mast agree in
[2:55] Speaker 3: electronic engineering.
[2:56] Speaker 1: Right right, That's what I thought. And so so we
[2:59] Speaker 1: talk about how educating man. Now we're talking about a
[3:01] Speaker 1: person who who changed the course of his life. Like
[3:04] Speaker 1: my degree is in mathematics and I'm not doing math,
[3:07] Speaker 1: I'm not doing accounting, but I have a skill set
[3:10] Speaker 1: that when I tell people that, they go WHOA. And
[3:13] Speaker 1: so when you say people about when you mentioned we're engineering,
[3:15] Speaker 1: I'm sure people are caught off guard because you're motivating,
[3:19] Speaker 1: you're inspiring, uplifting people talk about making that transition, doctor Prince, Well, you.
[3:26] Speaker 3: Know when you really are a problem solver. Fact when
[3:30] Speaker 3: you understand how things work, you can also understand how
[3:34] Speaker 3: to fix something that's wrong. And actually, what I found
[3:38] Speaker 3: out is that the gift that I have has allowed
[3:42] Speaker 3: me an opportunity to help analyze people's lives, see where
[3:45] Speaker 3: they are, see what's not working, an offer suggested courses
[3:52] Speaker 3: of action in factoring them to get the results that
[3:54] Speaker 3: they want. And that goes for almost anything. But you
[3:57] Speaker 3: have to be willing to open yourself up to thinking
[4:01] Speaker 3: is there another way? Is there a better way and
[4:04] Speaker 3: be and become a student? You know, so many people
[4:06] Speaker 3: don't want to sit down and they don't want to learn,
[4:08] Speaker 3: like they don't want to listen to somebody else. But
[4:10] Speaker 3: if you realize, Okay, what I'm doing isn't working being
[4:14] Speaker 3: I need to find somebody smarter than me, or somebody
[4:16] Speaker 3: that has more experience than I do that can actually
[4:19] Speaker 3: coach me and guide me and leave me in the
[4:20] Speaker 3: way that I need to go.
[4:22] Speaker 1: Now, what actions are you taking to move beyond inspiration
[4:25] Speaker 1: and create real results in your life right now? Because
[4:28] Speaker 1: that's what it's all about. Like you said, we shine.
[4:30] Speaker 1: We can talk of that game, but is the game
[4:33] Speaker 1: you talking delivering results?
[4:36] Speaker 3: You know, I tell people all the time that trees
[4:39] Speaker 3: don't grow in the spring in the summer. Trees grow
[4:45] Speaker 3: in the winter. And here's why. There's less moisture and
[4:49] Speaker 3: the soil. There's less sunlight, so the roosts of the
[4:52] Speaker 3: tree have to dig deeper. When you're going through a
[4:56] Speaker 3: hard time and a tough time, what happens. You have
[4:59] Speaker 3: to You have to find out what it is that
[5:01] Speaker 3: you are passionate about, what it is that you're called
[5:04] Speaker 3: to do. You have to remember why you start. And
[5:07] Speaker 3: for me, digging deep in actually doing the learning and
[5:11] Speaker 3: the necessary work for me to be able to present
[5:14] Speaker 3: like I'm going to do at this upcoming event because
[5:17] Speaker 3: I have gone through so many things. I have dealt
[5:19] Speaker 3: with so many things, so many things have actually been
[5:22] Speaker 3: a part of my life to the point to where
[5:24] Speaker 3: I have something to share. Now I can sit on this.
[5:27] Speaker 3: I can just get all I can and can all
[5:29] Speaker 3: I get, or I can put it out there and
[5:31] Speaker 3: I can actually try to help somebody. And I know
[5:33] Speaker 3: everybody's not gonna hear me, and I'm cool with that.
[5:35] Speaker 3: I'm fine with that. But there's somebody that's waiting for
[5:38] Speaker 3: me to show up. They're waiting for me to actually
[5:41] Speaker 3: tell my story, to actually be the inspiration, to be
[5:43] Speaker 3: that example for them. And because of them, and I
[5:46] Speaker 3: don't know who they are, but because of them, I'm
[5:48] Speaker 3: going to show up because somebody showed up for me.
[5:52] Speaker 2: Wow, you know the one thing I've always liked.
[5:55] Speaker 1: I'm talking to one of the top international motivational speaker,
[5:58] Speaker 1: award winning author, in person developing coach, doctor Chakoni Prince.
[6:04] Speaker 1: You don't mind showing your flaws or letting people that
[6:08] Speaker 1: know that you make You've made mistakes. We all make
[6:11] Speaker 1: a mistake, but a lot of people, you know, they
[6:13] Speaker 1: resist acknowledging that and it tends to hold them back.
[6:17] Speaker 1: So how has procrastination delayed your purpose, goals or opportunities,
[6:23] Speaker 1: Doctor Prince?
[6:25] Speaker 3: Procrastination can be a destiny detour. Procrastination can be a
[6:34] Speaker 3: destiny detour because it keeps you from getting to where
[6:37] Speaker 3: it is you need to be. In my own life,
[6:41] Speaker 3: I used to hold myself back. I used to think
[6:44] Speaker 3: I wasn't enough and a lot of people wouldn't believe this.
[6:47] Speaker 3: I used to have a steading problem. I literally had
[6:50] Speaker 3: a hard time getting my words out. But I knew
[6:53] Speaker 3: that I had something that was needed I couldn't be quiet.
[6:57] Speaker 3: You know, they say that the number one say in
[6:58] Speaker 3: the world is Pope speaking. And I am so quick
[7:00] Speaker 3: to tell people. I'm afraid not to because I know
[7:05] Speaker 3: I know what God has given me, and I live
[7:07] Speaker 3: by the Scripture. To whom much is given, much is required.
[7:10] Speaker 3: So I know that there's a requirement that's been placed
[7:12] Speaker 3: on my life. And so I've had to push past
[7:16] Speaker 3: my own because my own inconsistency is my own stomachy
[7:22] Speaker 3: blocks and my own self doubt. I actually co author
[7:25] Speaker 3: the book The Fact I'm my coach, doctor Ruben West,
[7:27] Speaker 3: where my chapter was entitled stop Stuttering at Life Right,
[7:33] Speaker 3: and I and I talked about my studying problem and
[7:36] Speaker 3: so so, yeah, you you have to realize that that
[7:40] Speaker 3: somebody is waiting for you to show up, because if
[7:42] Speaker 3: you don't, you some people go somewhere and sit down.
[7:44] Speaker 3: But I know I can't because somebody is listening for
[7:47] Speaker 3: my voice.
[7:48] Speaker 1: We know, it's really interesting that I was. I was
[7:50] Speaker 1: talking to a friend of mine. She has the Speaker,
[7:54] Speaker 1: the Speaker's magazine, and she vote over that same statement
[7:57] Speaker 1: about the you know, public speaking is the number one fear.
[8:01] Speaker 1: I don't know that may have been the case, but
[8:03] Speaker 1: I think social media and YouTube have changed that, because
[8:07] Speaker 1: that's all you have.
[8:09] Speaker 2: Is people speaking on YouTube, people speaking and posting and
[8:14] Speaker 2: motivating on the social media. And I think that social.
[8:18] Speaker 1: Media has has inspired people to speak, has inspired people
[8:24] Speaker 1: to motivate. And I don't know if that's still true
[8:27] Speaker 1: about that statement that public speaking is the number one fear,
[8:31] Speaker 1: because when you.
[8:31] Speaker 2: Look at YouTube and you look at social media, that's
[8:35] Speaker 2: not true. That's not true.
[8:39] Speaker 1: You gotta but before we go to break, I want
[8:42] Speaker 1: to I want to make a statement about you, man.
[8:44] Speaker 2: You know, I enjoy Actually I don't speak to you enough.
[8:47] Speaker 3: You know.
[8:48] Speaker 1: I think that your personality as a human and as
[8:51] Speaker 1: a man has always allowed me to have honest conversation.
[8:55] Speaker 1: That's what this show is about, honest conversations. And sometimes
[8:58] Speaker 1: it's not always technical, you know, And sometimes I wake
[9:01] Speaker 1: up in the morning and sometimes I'm just motivated to
[9:05] Speaker 1: wake up and that's nothing technical about that. You know,
[9:07] Speaker 1: it's not a two's four. And it's important that what
[9:11] Speaker 1: you do and the results that you get be acknowledged.
[9:19] Speaker 1: And what how do you get acknowledged? I guess that's
[9:23] Speaker 1: the question I'm trying to ask. So you feel satisfied
[9:26] Speaker 1: that what you are preaching in a certain form is
[9:31] Speaker 1: being heard and then being followed.
[9:35] Speaker 3: You know, it's funny it's used to turn preaching because
[9:38] Speaker 3: aig and fed good friend of mine told me. She said, Secona,
[9:41] Speaker 3: you don't have a gospel of salvation, you have a
[9:44] Speaker 3: gospel of self worth, right, And I was like, Wow,
[9:48] Speaker 3: that's so true. And so for me, just just knowing
[9:53] Speaker 3: that that I have that level of fact responsibility, it's
[9:57] Speaker 3: what causes me to show up for then everybody who
[10:01] Speaker 3: comes my way, because I don't know who they are,
[10:04] Speaker 3: I don't know where they are, but I do know
[10:05] Speaker 3: that I've been given something to give to the world.
[10:08] Speaker 3: And like doctor Moselroe said, the fruit isn't for the tree,
[10:11] Speaker 3: So my thing is to put the fruit out there.
[10:13] Speaker 2: Please don't go anywhere.
[10:14] Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more Money Making Conversations masterclass

[10:40] Speaker 1: back to Money Making Conversations master class with me Rashaun McDonald. Yeah,
[10:44] Speaker 1: I remember when I got cancer, a diagnosis in twenty
[10:47] Speaker 1: to fifteen. And you know now it's the people. You
[10:50] Speaker 1: don't ever want the doctor to come into the room
[10:52] Speaker 1: and tell you you have a cancer diagnosis because I
[10:55] Speaker 1: don't care what you've done, doctor Prince.
[10:58] Speaker 2: All you think is the worst, you know, because you
[11:02] Speaker 2: know you immediately think death.
[11:04] Speaker 1: And I remember my life real literally flashed before my
[11:08] Speaker 1: eyes and I didn't hear what he was saying.
[11:10] Speaker 2: I was just heard the word cancer.
[11:11] Speaker 1: And I didn't tell my family for a few days
[11:14] Speaker 1: because I didn't know how to handle telling them this,
[11:19] Speaker 1: you know, but I will tell you at that point
[11:21] Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, if my time was up, and believe me,
[11:25] Speaker 1: to everybody, I don't want my time to be up.
[11:27] Speaker 2: Okay, let me get that out the way.
[11:29] Speaker 1: But I knew that I had accomplished a lot of
[11:31] Speaker 1: things in my life that I was comfortable with saying
[11:34] Speaker 1: I'm cool. I'm cool, And I think that that's the key.
[11:39] Speaker 1: When you hear the word you did that you want
[11:42] Speaker 1: to be able to say right now that you are
[11:45] Speaker 1: living the life that you want to live. If you're
[11:47] Speaker 1: not living the life that you want to live, you
[11:50] Speaker 1: need to put down whatever you're doing and make adjustments,
[11:53] Speaker 1: because what you don't want to do is leave life
[11:57] Speaker 1: not satisfied. Your thoughts on that, doctor Prince, that.
[12:02] Speaker 3: Is so so true. We all have something to accomplish.
[12:06] Speaker 3: We all have something that we're supposed to be doing,
[12:09] Speaker 3: something that we were put here for, and if we
[12:12] Speaker 3: haven't taken the time to understand what that is, we
[12:16] Speaker 3: will leave somebody starving. I tell people all the time,
[12:20] Speaker 3: once you know who you are, nothing can stop you.
[12:23] Speaker 3: But until you know who you are, anything can. And
[12:26] Speaker 3: so if you don't know who you are, your job
[12:28] Speaker 3: is to find out who you are. Like Mark Twain said,
[12:30] Speaker 3: the two most important days in your life is number
[12:33] Speaker 3: one to day you were born and number two the
[12:35] Speaker 3: day you found out why Why were you born? Why
[12:38] Speaker 3: were you here? Why are you here? And so understanding
[12:41] Speaker 3: that should be the driving force behind you getting something done,
[12:46] Speaker 3: getting something accomplished. And I don't stop companion self to what.
[12:50] Speaker 3: Just be better than you are yesterday, doct comparing ecept
[12:52] Speaker 3: of people. Be the best version of you that you
[12:55] Speaker 3: can be.
[12:56] Speaker 2: And I'm gonna tell you I can answer the question
[12:57] Speaker 2: that you just said.
[12:58] Speaker 1: I figured out while I was here on earth, when
[13:01] Speaker 1: I was in my early forties, because I'm gonna tell
[13:04] Speaker 1: you what I was doing wrong. I was denouncing what
[13:08] Speaker 1: I was accomplishing. I wanted to be an everyday person.
[13:11] Speaker 1: I didn't want to feel I was unique. I didn't
[13:14] Speaker 1: want to feel anything I was doing in life at
[13:16] Speaker 1: that time to be special. And so because life, especially
[13:21] Speaker 1: in the Black community, let's let's go break down the
[13:23] Speaker 1: black community.
[13:24] Speaker 2: The black community tends to want you to.
[13:26] Speaker 1: Be humble, want you to downplay your success, want you
[13:31] Speaker 1: to be able to say, man, you don't want to.
[13:33] Speaker 1: You don't want to, you don't want to flaws. Hey, brother,
[13:35] Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Elon Musks flaws all.
[13:37] Speaker 2: The time, correct for show for show. I'm telling you
[13:42] Speaker 2: right now, I'm gonna tell you.
[13:43] Speaker 1: So you know, I remember Tupac saying, you know, you
[13:45] Speaker 1: can't live in the ghetto if you're successful, okay, because
[13:48] Speaker 1: the people you tryna live next to them, they're gonna
[13:50] Speaker 1: rob you. That was Tupac saying in a very popular
[13:52] Speaker 1: lyric and so so so, success is part of growth,
[13:57] Speaker 1: and success is part of change. You have to acknowledge that.
[14:01] Speaker 1: Now people out there who don't understand that, they could
[14:05] Speaker 1: take out how they want to take it.
[14:06] Speaker 2: And quite frankly, they might not ever get to speak
[14:09] Speaker 2: to you.
[14:09] Speaker 3: So deal with that.
[14:11] Speaker 2: They might not ever spised to you. Okay.
[14:13] Speaker 1: So with that being said, ride your success in an
[14:17] Speaker 1: honest manner. And the reason I bring that up, I
[14:19] Speaker 1: wanted to ask you this question, doctor Prince. How does
[14:22] Speaker 1: the way you present yourself reflect your self worth, confidence
[14:26] Speaker 1: and vision for success?
[14:30] Speaker 3: You know my well? In fact, when I was on that,
[14:34] Speaker 3: I remember one of my previous jobs, iuston, come on
[14:36] Speaker 3: Rick and I would dress up every now and then
[14:38] Speaker 3: and people like, hey, Sacona, why you said just so?
[14:42] Speaker 3: Ken't making us look bad?
[14:43] Speaker 1: No?
[14:44] Speaker 3: No, no, I'm making me look good. And somebody, man,
[14:49] Speaker 3: they taught me on the wrong day. They call me
[14:51] Speaker 3: on the wrong day. They said, Secona, why are you
[14:53] Speaker 3: dressed up? And before I knew what I said. You know,
[14:55] Speaker 3: I looked in the close for the clothes you about
[14:57] Speaker 3: me and I couldn't find them. I love it, so
[15:03] Speaker 3: I had to put on a God bless me.
[15:04] Speaker 2: It's like, why you're so worried about me?
[15:06] Speaker 3: So to answer your question, man, I had I know
[15:10] Speaker 3: that I'm I'm not dressing for where I am. I'm
[15:12] Speaker 3: justing for where I'm going. I'm just for who I'm
[15:15] Speaker 3: expiring to be. And so that is a part of
[15:18] Speaker 3: my DNA. It's a part of who I am, you know.
[15:21] Speaker 3: And it was amazing people say, you know I always
[15:24] Speaker 3: always well dressed. Well, see what they did know is
[15:27] Speaker 3: on the days when I wasn't well dressed, I stayed
[15:29] Speaker 3: at my desk, I kept a little profile. But yeah,
[15:33] Speaker 3: when I had my suit on, yeah I was flossing.
[15:35] Speaker 3: I was going down the house going okay, what's going on?
[15:38] Speaker 3: Speaking to everybody. Yet See that's what that's when when
[15:42] Speaker 3: you learn to represent yourself, when you learn to represent
[15:44] Speaker 3: your brand, you know when anywhere, how to turn it on,
[15:47] Speaker 3: how to turn it off. And but what's more important,
[15:50] Speaker 3: it's not just the close it's the character behind them.
[15:54] Speaker 3: Because you're not You and I both know there are
[15:56] Speaker 3: a lot of well dressed and you can feel in
[15:59] Speaker 3: the blank you want to call them. But see, we
[16:03] Speaker 3: have to make sure that our character compliments the clothes.
[16:07] Speaker 3: Like they oftentimes said, the suit don't make the man.
[16:09] Speaker 3: The man make the suit. Same thing for the woman.
[16:12] Speaker 3: I don't care how good looking she is, how where's
[16:15] Speaker 3: your character? Where's your humility? Where is your passion? Where
[16:18] Speaker 3: is your heart for service? You know? Again, like I
[16:21] Speaker 3: started off, I mean, yeah, you can have a documentary
[16:23] Speaker 3: and name oh are you a? Are you healing? Show
[16:25] Speaker 3: me that it trings me with that right, you know,
[16:28] Speaker 3: so so so so yet knowing, knowing that part of myself,
[16:32] Speaker 3: knowing the responsibility that comes with what I've been and
[16:37] Speaker 3: it's what causes me to rise up and to be
[16:40] Speaker 3: there for those who have been called a certa.
[16:42] Speaker 2: You know, It's so funny.
[16:43] Speaker 1: My wife, she always teases me like we're going to
[16:45] Speaker 1: restaurant and you know somebody people just gonna naturally speak
[16:49] Speaker 1: to me, And and like I just I just got
[16:53] Speaker 1: back from New York. My flight was at six pm,
[16:56] Speaker 1: got canceled and uh I actually spent the night at
[17:00] Speaker 1: Logordio then catch a flight to am landed ten twenty.
[17:04] Speaker 1: And she always says, for some reason, life is always
[17:08] Speaker 1: gonna make a way for you. It's always gonna make
[17:11] Speaker 1: a way for you. And I and I say that
[17:14] Speaker 1: to everybody to say that. You know, I've walked in
[17:17] Speaker 1: the airport and I kid you not somebody's gonna compliment me.
[17:21] Speaker 1: I'm not asking for it, because, like you said, the
[17:23] Speaker 1: clothes I got out of my class, I'm gonna walk away.
[17:26] Speaker 1: I walked through the airport.
[17:27] Speaker 3: And I'm on.
[17:28] Speaker 2: One day A guy walked up behind me said, man,
[17:30] Speaker 2: you walk like you own this airport.
[17:32] Speaker 3: I go in the port.
[17:36] Speaker 2: Okay, brother, what you want me to change my walking?
[17:38] Speaker 3: Room?
[17:38] Speaker 2: We start limping.
[17:40] Speaker 3: This is how I walk. Okay. He was laughing.
[17:42] Speaker 1: He was He said, man, I was just He said,
[17:45] Speaker 1: you just a confident guy, and I said, true enough.
[17:47] Speaker 1: I want to say that to everybody. Carry your confidence
[17:51] Speaker 1: for yourself and not care for somebody else and the
[17:55] Speaker 1: perception that they gained from that. Let it be their perception.
[17:59] Speaker 1: But don't allow yourself to lawyer your standards, change the
[18:03] Speaker 1: way you speak, change the way you present yourself, because
[18:06] Speaker 1: you're trying to appease somebody you don't even know. And
[18:11] Speaker 1: I learned that in my life. So when I get
[18:13] Speaker 1: up in the morning and I walk in my closet,
[18:16] Speaker 1: I can assure you, doctor Prince, I'm dressing for Rashan McDonald.
