[1:06] Speaker 3: Brother, Sean, thank you so much for having me. I
[1:08] Speaker 3: appreciate you. It's a pleasure. You know. I had to
[1:10] Speaker 3: throw all.
[1:11] Speaker 4: My money making shirt off half a little bit because
[1:13] Speaker 4: it's money making conversations.
[1:14] Speaker 3: So we had to make it happen. Wee.
[1:16] Speaker 2: The great thing about it is that watching you build
[1:18] Speaker 2: your career and watching you, you know, stay on the sideline,
[1:22] Speaker 2: watch people.
[1:23] Speaker 1: Let's start people.
[1:24] Speaker 2: I understand you don't have to jump out there immediately
[1:26] Speaker 2: to say I've arrived.
[1:27] Speaker 1: You should have come with some experience.
[1:29] Speaker 2: Let's talk about your background a little bit on being
[1:32] Speaker 2: able to make you an authority, make you authentic, make
[1:35] Speaker 2: you organically appreciated by the people who you give advice too.
[1:39] Speaker 2: How did it all start for you?
[1:41] Speaker 4: Yes, it started nineteen years old, straight out of high school. Actually,
[1:46] Speaker 4: I was working at a video store, rest in peace to.
[1:49] Speaker 3: Blockbuster videos, and I knew that I didn't want to,
[1:53] Speaker 3: you know, be a store manager.
[1:54] Speaker 4: And one day one of the assistant managers said that
[1:56] Speaker 4: they were hiring at Chase Bank for tellers, and so
[2:00] Speaker 4: I said, oh, you know what, you know, let me
[2:02] Speaker 4: just test it out. I love money, let me just
[2:04] Speaker 4: go test it out. And so I started my career
[2:06] Speaker 4: as a teller at nineteen years old, and I did
[2:10] Speaker 4: everything you know in banking, from tellor to personal banking
[2:14] Speaker 4: to a private banker branch manager. I was a CEO
[2:18] Speaker 4: of Credit Union. And while I was working though, one
[2:22] Speaker 4: of my joy I used to go to jails, you know,
[2:27] Speaker 4: Rikers Island, to churches, to community based organizations and teach
[2:31] Speaker 4: financial literacy. And I'm a big jay Z fan. So
[2:35] Speaker 4: in the words of the Honorable Sean Carter, there's much
[2:38] Speaker 4: bigger issues in the world, I know. So I first
[2:41] Speaker 4: had to take care of the world, I know. And
[2:42] Speaker 4: so I figured, I said, you know what, I want
[2:45] Speaker 4: to do this for a living. And so from there
[2:48] Speaker 4: I just decided, like how do I make money?
[2:51] Speaker 3: How do I make impact?
[2:52] Speaker 1: Number one?
[2:53] Speaker 3: But then how do I make an income and an impact?
[2:55] Speaker 4: And that's when I wrote my first book in two
[2:57] Speaker 4: thousand and nine and really just kind of you know,
[3:00] Speaker 4: became a speaker, became a financial educator, and then you know,
[3:04] Speaker 4: here I am today, still doing the same thing, still
[3:07] Speaker 4: still a financial educator, but really uh, you know, doing
[3:10] Speaker 4: it at a at a level that allows me to
[3:13] Speaker 4: have you know, more impact, uh, And you know, combine
[3:16] Speaker 4: that with with with income as well, you.
[3:18] Speaker 2: Know as when we when when I brought you on
[3:20] Speaker 2: the show, and bring you on the show. The whole
[3:21] Speaker 2: process is just to break down a lot of things
[3:24] Speaker 2: that people fear, and people fear money, and people fear banks.
[3:27] Speaker 2: Banks intimidate people, taxes intimidate people. What's the common effects?
[3:33] Speaker 2: You know, because you've been in the bank and you've
[3:34] Speaker 2: seen all those different layers that you have. What is
[3:37] Speaker 2: the number one common denominator that people have and not
[3:40] Speaker 2: be afraid of when they bank?
[3:43] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think first and foremost is knowledge
[3:47] Speaker 4: and then second, second of all, it's the mindset, right,
[3:51] Speaker 4: because you know, once you have knowledge, people are afraid
[3:56] Speaker 4: of of what they don't understand. And so what happens
[3:59] Speaker 4: is that a lot of people don't really understand how
[4:03] Speaker 4: banking works, how taxes work. They don't understand that part
[4:06] Speaker 4: of the game. And so what they attach themselves to
[4:10] Speaker 4: is other people's experiences, other what other people go through,
[4:14] Speaker 4: which is normally the negative stuff, and so they attach
[4:16] Speaker 4: themselves to that negative aspect of it, and so that
[4:19] Speaker 4: becomes their reality. But if they start to, you know,
[4:22] Speaker 4: get knowledgeable, right, the more we understand how things work,
[4:27] Speaker 4: that is going to the knowledge is going to change
[4:30] Speaker 4: our mindset, and then our mindset is going to to
[4:33] Speaker 4: let us know that these are you know, banking is
[4:36] Speaker 4: a tool.
[4:37] Speaker 3: Money is a tool. You know, taxes even are are.
[4:40] Speaker 4: It's a tool, and if you know how to use
[4:42] Speaker 4: it the right way, you can actually use it, you know,
[4:45] Speaker 4: in your favor.
[4:46] Speaker 2: You know, really funny when you know, just hearing your conversation,
[4:49] Speaker 2: I smile because you know, you was talking about how
[4:51] Speaker 2: people could stop.
[4:52] Speaker 1: You from doing your dreams.
[4:54] Speaker 2: You know, and they have negative spirits because you go
[4:57] Speaker 2: to people, they're gonna have a negative store before we
[4:58] Speaker 2: have a good story.
[4:59] Speaker 1: That's that's factor life.
[5:01] Speaker 2: And so and in the beginning, I always tell people,
[5:03] Speaker 2: you know, don't let your age, friends, family, or co
[5:05] Speaker 2: worker stop you from planning and live in your dream.
[5:08] Speaker 2: At the age of nineteen, you know, you lef Blockbuster
[5:10] Speaker 2: went to a bank and then you started having dreams
[5:13] Speaker 2: or thoughts of running a bank, being an executive. Talk
[5:16] Speaker 2: about people who didn't believe that you could do that.
[5:20] Speaker 2: They questioned you and said, nah, you're just gonna be
[5:23] Speaker 2: a teller. No, you're not gonna have a run a
[5:25] Speaker 2: credit union. Because that stopped so many people's dreams, and
[5:27] Speaker 2: it allowed those negative moments to dominate and then redirect
[5:32] Speaker 2: their dreams.
[5:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, I think. I think it's important that
[5:37] Speaker 4: you know. Uh, you can't. You can't excuse me, I
[5:40] Speaker 4: don't know.
[5:40] Speaker 3: If you hit a dog, I heard it, don't worry
[5:43] Speaker 3: about it, okay.
[5:45] Speaker 4: And so, you know, I think it's important that you know,
[5:49] Speaker 4: when you have a dream, you have to realize that
[5:52] Speaker 4: the dream.
[5:53] Speaker 3: Was given to you for a particular reason.
[5:55] Speaker 4: A lot of times people are so interested in, you know,
[6:00] Speaker 4: what their family has to say, what their friends have
[6:02] Speaker 4: to say, not realizing that the dream wasn't given to them.
[6:05] Speaker 4: And so I was met with a lot of opposition
[6:08] Speaker 4: when I had this dream of being a banker, when
[6:10] Speaker 4: I had a dream of, you know, being a branch manager.
[6:13] Speaker 4: Because the truth of the matter is that, you know,
[6:16] Speaker 4: the the finance industry is two percent you know, black
[6:19] Speaker 4: rights two percent minority. And so when when you know
[6:22] Speaker 4: you see, so, you know, a black guy who's from
[6:25] Speaker 4: the from the hood, you know, right, I grew up
[6:27] Speaker 4: with Sat Nicholas projects in all of them, and so
[6:30] Speaker 4: you know, a black guy from Harlem who doesn't have
[6:33] Speaker 4: the education that was necessary. I had a lot of naysay,
[6:37] Speaker 4: and that a lot of people telling me what I
[6:39] Speaker 4: could and couldn't do. But the one thing is that
[6:41] Speaker 4: I just had to attach myself to that vision. I
[6:44] Speaker 4: had to attach myself to that goal and make sure
[6:49] Speaker 4: that I did. I just stay focused on it one
[6:51] Speaker 4: you know, uh they always say representation matters, And the
[6:55] Speaker 4: one thing all I needed to see is one person.
[6:57] Speaker 3: I didn't need to see a thousand people.
[6:59] Speaker 4: I just need to see one person that looked like me,
[7:02] Speaker 4: that did what I wanted to do. And once I
[7:04] Speaker 4: saw that one person, that's who I locked in on.
[7:07] Speaker 4: And everything that everybody said, or everybody, all the naysayers,
[7:11] Speaker 4: it really didn't matter to me because I knew it
[7:13] Speaker 4: was possible and that belief system, that mindset of knowing
[7:17] Speaker 4: its possible was all I needed. And so I would
[7:20] Speaker 4: tell anybody who has this dream, don't share your dream
[7:24] Speaker 4: with somebody who has not lived your dream or is
[7:28] Speaker 4: it has experienced your dream or is experiencing it, because
[7:31] Speaker 4: they're coming from a space of they don't have the knowledge, right.
[7:35] Speaker 4: And so if you're looking to have a successful relationship,
[7:39] Speaker 4: you can't talk to somebody who's never been in a relationship.
[7:43] Speaker 3: Get and get relationship advice from them.
[7:45] Speaker 4: If you're looking for money advice, you can't talk to
[7:47] Speaker 4: somebody who doesn't have money experience, like you have to
[7:50] Speaker 4: have money.
[7:51] Speaker 3: Making conversations with people who know.
[7:53] Speaker 4: How to make money, been around money, who understand money.
[7:56] Speaker 4: So that way, that advice is coming much a place
[8:01] Speaker 4: of where you want to be, a where you want
[8:03] Speaker 4: to go. But though once you get their advice, it
[8:06] Speaker 4: doesn't mean you hold on to.
[8:07] Speaker 1: It because things changed too.
[8:09] Speaker 4: Right, you take their advice and then now you you
[8:11] Speaker 4: mold it, you you create it for you so it
[8:14] Speaker 4: could it'll be tailor made for you, and then you
[8:17] Speaker 4: move forward from there.
[8:18] Speaker 1: That's what I love. That's why I was excited about
[8:19] Speaker 1: bringing on the show.
[8:20] Speaker 2: Because you live my monitor, you know. Stop reading other
[8:23] Speaker 2: people's success story, that's their advice, you know, and start
[8:26] Speaker 2: writing your own. Because their pathway on how they got there,
[8:29] Speaker 2: it's different. Their age is different, their agenda may be
[8:31] Speaker 2: different than what you know. The their their parent or
[8:34] Speaker 2: support may be different, and so but their advice is important.
[8:38] Speaker 2: Just don't try to live it the way they and
[8:40] Speaker 2: achieve it the way they achieved it. But more importantly,
[8:42] Speaker 2: when I listen to you communicate all these these nuggets
[8:46] Speaker 2: of information about your your history. And I tell people
[8:49] Speaker 2: between the ages of eighteen and twenty three are important
[8:52] Speaker 2: because that's when you're out there being yourself. You're champing
[8:56] Speaker 2: on your own causes. You know, you may not be married yet,
[8:58] Speaker 2: you may be just a a guy inspired or female
[9:01] Speaker 2: inspired about your dreams. And when you get out of that,
[9:04] Speaker 2: when you get your thirties and forties, is when your
[9:07] Speaker 2: dreams may get shifted out of pocket. Now, as you
[9:10] Speaker 2: were starting to grow, what started shifting and who helped
[9:14] Speaker 2: you stay online? Ash because I always call those people
[9:17] Speaker 2: and pot I had a lot of people who just
[9:19] Speaker 2: stepped to the plate with Rashan.
[9:21] Speaker 1: Are you crazy to Rashan do that? Yeah?
[9:25] Speaker 4: So I would say first and foremost, you know, I
[9:29] Speaker 4: have to I have to say my wife, right because
[9:32] Speaker 4: when I met her, you know, uh, we worked at
[9:35] Speaker 4: the bank together actually, and she was my biggest champion.
[9:39] Speaker 4: She saw a lot in me that I didn't even
[9:42] Speaker 4: really see yet. It took me a while for me
[9:44] Speaker 4: to see it right, and so she was always speaking
[9:47] Speaker 4: life to me, right. She was always telling me, you know,
[9:50] Speaker 4: like if I accepted something that was less than you know,
[9:52] Speaker 4: what what what what I what I knew or or
[9:55] Speaker 4: less than what I deserve. She would be like, nah,
[9:57] Speaker 4: you need to you need to step that up, right
[10:00] Speaker 4: and so and so, definitely my my wife was a
[10:03] Speaker 4: big part of my success.
[10:05] Speaker 3: But then also oddly enough, it was uh, people.
[10:10] Speaker 4: I never even met, right, because a lot of you know,
[10:15] Speaker 4: my neighborhood growing up, how I grew up. You know,
[10:18] Speaker 4: I didn't have access to business mentors. I didn't have
[10:21] Speaker 4: access to people that could directly mentor me. And so
[10:25] Speaker 4: a lot of part of my success was reading books.
[10:29] Speaker 4: Part of my success was watching documentaries. Part of my
[10:31] Speaker 4: success was really just just understanding that, you know, other
[10:37] Speaker 4: people have done what I want to do. They laid
[10:39] Speaker 4: the blueprint, uh, and I and I stayed motivated by always,
[10:43] Speaker 4: you know, focusing on you know, somebody's story that you
[10:47] Speaker 4: know that that said, oh wow.
[10:49] Speaker 3: This person came you know, from from from from the neighborhood.
[10:52] Speaker 4: Oh you know this person is is you know, has
[10:56] Speaker 4: non brothers and sisters.
[10:57] Speaker 3: They grew up in the inner city too, and they
[10:59] Speaker 3: and they got to means and they you know what
[11:01] Speaker 3: I'm saying.
[11:02] Speaker 4: It was those type of stories that got me that
[11:04] Speaker 4: that that really kind of allowed me to continue pushing.
[11:07] Speaker 4: So I would definitely say, you know, my you know,
[11:10] Speaker 4: my wife. I would definitely say, you know stories, uh,
[11:13] Speaker 4: you know, documentary, celebrities, business people.
[11:16] Speaker 3: You know. Reginald Lewis was a big you.
[11:18] Speaker 4: Know, uh you know, you know, a big big uh
[11:21] Speaker 4: uh success, Uh, you know, a big influence in my life.
[11:24] Speaker 4: Black Enterprise, right, Alfred Edmund, Uh you know a lot
[11:27] Speaker 4: of people who I've watched from afar. But but then eventually,
[11:31] Speaker 4: and not to get philosophical, but eventually, as you start
[11:35] Speaker 4: vibrating on the on the energy of success, you start
[11:39] Speaker 4: to now attract success, right, success attract success. And so
[11:43] Speaker 4: as I started to had to pretend and create these
[11:47] Speaker 4: mentors in my head, as I started to get successful,
[11:50] Speaker 4: I now started to to attract other successful people who
[11:54] Speaker 4: have now been my mentors directly. And so I you know,
[11:57] Speaker 4: I would say it's a combination, uh, you know of
[12:01] Speaker 4: what I read, who I tracked it, and then also
[12:03] Speaker 4: my wife.
[12:04] Speaker 1: Well, I'm speaking to Ash Cash.
[12:06] Speaker 2: He's the founder and chief financial educator and mind Right
[12:09] Speaker 2: Money Management, a financial education and media company been that
[12:13] Speaker 2: blends psychology and personal finance with music, pop culture, and
[12:17] Speaker 2: relevant news to help people manage their money.
[12:19] Speaker 1: It's the kids.
[12:19] Speaker 2: This conversation a boy managing your money but also your
[12:21] Speaker 2: lifestyle better in order to live.
[12:23] Speaker 1: The life that you want.
[12:25] Speaker 2: And that's important because so many people make mistakes when
[12:28] Speaker 2: they always say looking at the other person's yard. You know,
[12:31] Speaker 2: just because they got a roads, don't mean you have
[12:32] Speaker 2: to have a roads or your roads that big. You
[12:34] Speaker 2: can buy a small rose for a lot less money
[12:37] Speaker 2: and let it grow to that. But a lot of
[12:38] Speaker 2: people want to match up, and that's a lot of
[12:41] Speaker 2: that's what a lot of people make errors with money.
[12:42] Speaker 2: They want to match up to what they think is successful.
[12:45] Speaker 2: Like you said earlier, in a lot of their tech area,
[12:48] Speaker 2: financial area, you see very few black people people.
[12:51] Speaker 1: They look like you.
[12:52] Speaker 2: Well, that's why blacks a lot of times attracted to
[12:55] Speaker 2: sports because sports are dominated by African America. Sixty five
[12:58] Speaker 2: percent of the NFL is black, over eighty percent of
[13:00] Speaker 2: the NBA is black.
[13:02] Speaker 1: And so they oh, that's a that's they feel that's easy.
[13:05] Speaker 2: But still in anything you do as there is work,
[13:09] Speaker 2: there is competition. Let's take the blinders off the fake game.
[13:14] Speaker 2: Just because you see a lot of us don't mean
[13:16] Speaker 2: it's easy talk to us.
[13:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, all that, and I love I love I love
[13:20] Speaker 4: that you said that because I think that's that's what
[13:22] Speaker 4: happens right especially now because we have social media, and
[13:26] Speaker 4: so social.
[13:27] Speaker 3: Media is the highlight reel.
[13:29] Speaker 4: So you see the highlight reel and people say, oh,
[13:32] Speaker 4: if he could do it, then I can do it.
[13:34] Speaker 3: But people don't see the sleepless nights.
[13:36] Speaker 4: People don't see, uh, the the you know, the first
[13:38] Speaker 4: you're the first to wake up, the last to go
[13:40] Speaker 4: to bed.
[13:40] Speaker 3: You don't people don't see the grind that goes behind that.
[13:44] Speaker 4: And so I think, I think number one, that's why
[13:47] Speaker 4: when they say life is a is a journey, not
[13:50] Speaker 4: a destination, that's important for people to realize that if
[13:54] Speaker 4: if success is a place for you, then you're doing
[13:57] Speaker 4: it wrong. Success can't be a place. Can't say I'm
[14:01] Speaker 4: successful when I reach this place. That's absolutely false. You're
[14:05] Speaker 4: successful when you wake up every single day with purpose.
[14:08] Speaker 4: You're successful when you say you know what, this is
[14:10] Speaker 4: what I want. But I love the process that has
[14:13] Speaker 4: taken me to get there, because I promise you, once
[14:17] Speaker 4: you get to whatever destination is there is, there's going
[14:20] Speaker 4: to be something else. You're gonna stop. You're gonna rest
[14:22] Speaker 4: a few busts, but then you're you know, you're gonna say, oh,
[14:25] Speaker 4: I want you know this, now I desire this, and
[14:28] Speaker 4: then now there's gonna be another journey.
[14:30] Speaker 3: Right, the journey doesn't stop. And so understand that.
[14:34] Speaker 4: Don't look at somebody else's success and fall in love
[14:38] Speaker 4: with the highlight reil. Don't fall in love with you know,
[14:41] Speaker 4: the the what they're posting on social media. Find out
[14:45] Speaker 4: what is the process? What process did they take to
[14:48] Speaker 4: get to that level? And you know, what is that process?
[14:52] Speaker 4: And can you fall in love with the process. If
[14:55] Speaker 4: you cannot fall in love with the process, the success
[14:58] Speaker 4: isn't for you.
[14:59] Speaker 3: Right.
[14:59] Speaker 4: If you can't fall in love with the process of
[15:03] Speaker 4: what what what it entails to attain what you want
[15:07] Speaker 4: to attain, then you should be focused on something else
[15:09] Speaker 4: every single day. Right. My goal is to inspire and
[15:13] Speaker 4: motivate people to be the best that they could possibly be.
[15:16] Speaker 4: Whether I got to die for it or not, I
[15:19] Speaker 4: am that right in my being. I am inspiration in
[15:23] Speaker 4: my being, I am motivation. And so it doesn't feel
[15:26] Speaker 4: like work. I know people say, if you if you find,
[15:28] Speaker 4: if you find a job that you love, you'll.
[15:30] Speaker 3: Never work a day in your life.
[15:32] Speaker 4: And so when I say it doesn't feel like work,
[15:34] Speaker 4: I don't mean that there aren't times where I wake up.
[15:36] Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, I'm not.
[15:39] Speaker 4: Saying that I still love it, right, love love, love,
[15:42] Speaker 4: love and tired or.
[15:43] Speaker 3: Not mutually exclusive. Right, I can still love it and
[15:46] Speaker 3: still be tired and still be dressed. Right. But just
[15:49] Speaker 3: understand though, that once I get going, I'm.
[15:51] Speaker 4: Like, this is this, this is what I'm meant to do,
[15:53] Speaker 4: this is what I love to do. And so you know,
[15:54] Speaker 4: I mean everybody to who's who's after success, just know
[15:59] Speaker 4: that it's a journey to it and make sure you
[16:01] Speaker 4: fall in love with that journey.
[16:03] Speaker 5: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
[16:06] Speaker 5: money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
[16:17] Speaker 5: Conversations Masterclass, hosted by Rashaan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass
[16:23] Speaker 5: continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making
[16:28] Speaker 5: Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
[16:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so funny you say that, because.
[16:34] Speaker 2: I always tell people I get up at four o'clock
[16:35] Speaker 2: in the morning Monday through Friday. I said, I'm not
[16:37] Speaker 2: happy getting up. I said, but I know that's part
[16:40] Speaker 2: of the journey. And I always tell the share the
[16:42] Speaker 2: story of people by my wife. One time she asked
[16:44] Speaker 2: me to she has to drive me to the airport,
[16:46] Speaker 2: you know, And she said, wow, you just don't stop, dude.
[16:51] Speaker 2: I said, well, it's not, of course of me stopping.
[16:53] Speaker 2: It's decent part of my goals. And you put goals
[16:56] Speaker 2: in place, you have to reach them. And she said,
[16:58] Speaker 2: she said, do you have a get tired? And I
[17:01] Speaker 2: told her, I said, I'm tired right now, right.
[17:04] Speaker 5: You know.
[17:04] Speaker 3: And I had to tell that because I knew you
[17:06] Speaker 3: would apreciate.
[17:06] Speaker 2: What I'm saying, because look, man, look just because I'm
[17:09] Speaker 2: moving forward don't mean I don't want to lay it out,
[17:12] Speaker 2: but that's not part of the mission.
[17:13] Speaker 1: And then and I want to throw you a compliment.
[17:15] Speaker 1: I'm a big rapper.
[17:16] Speaker 2: I'm a big rapper friend, and my all time favorite
[17:19] Speaker 2: records is Tupac Tupocca. Nobody can tell me nothing wrong
[17:22] Speaker 2: about Tupac And there's nothing to do with your size,
[17:24] Speaker 2: nothing do with your color. But just listening to that,
[17:27] Speaker 2: those those I would call them lyrics that you just
[17:29] Speaker 2: laid about motivation and inspiration.
[17:32] Speaker 1: Man, if you have dropped a Biggie Small beat underneath you.
[17:36] Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I just took off. I took off.
[17:42] Speaker 2: Because it felt like I was listening to the Biggie
[17:45] Speaker 2: Small of motivational and financial expert.
[17:47] Speaker 1: But you've been dubbed like that. You've been dubbed a
[17:49] Speaker 1: financial motivator, haven't you.
[17:51] Speaker 3: Absolutely yeah, I've been.
[17:53] Speaker 4: And you know, you know the funny thing about that
[17:55] Speaker 4: is because you know, like I said, I am fighting,
[17:57] Speaker 4: I am motivation, and so you know, when I teach,
[18:01] Speaker 4: and that's what makes me different. Right, when I teach finance,
[18:04] Speaker 4: I'm not teaching I mean, finance could be boring, right,
[18:07] Speaker 4: So I'm not teaching it from a perspective of you know,
[18:11] Speaker 4: you know one plus one equals two. Number one is
[18:13] Speaker 4: the mindset, right, And that's why my company is called
[18:15] Speaker 4: mind Right Money Management, because you have to have your
[18:17] Speaker 4: mind right before you get your money right.
[18:20] Speaker 3: But then, you know, I just believe that this. I
[18:23] Speaker 3: believe that.
[18:24] Speaker 4: Every single day that you wake up, it's a blessing.
[18:28] Speaker 3: Everything else is.
[18:29] Speaker 4: A bonus, right, And so with that level of excitement,
[18:33] Speaker 4: I need people to be excited. I want you to
[18:35] Speaker 4: be excited with the opportunity to earn. I want you
[18:38] Speaker 4: to be excited that you need to have an opportunity
[18:41] Speaker 4: to fulfill your dream. Don't only be excited because your
[18:44] Speaker 4: dream is fulfilled. Be excited that you have the opportunity.
[18:47] Speaker 4: There are one hundred and fifty thousand people that die
[18:51] Speaker 4: every single day who wish they had the opportunity that
[18:54] Speaker 4: you have. And so I just wake up inspired and
[18:58] Speaker 4: motivated and thankful to God that I have another opportunity
[19:02] Speaker 4: to talk to people.
[19:03] Speaker 3: And so you know, you know, I don't drink coffee.
[19:06] Speaker 4: So this energy that you get right now, this is
[19:09] Speaker 4: this is this is nothing but water.
[19:10] Speaker 3: This is h two. Oh. I don't drink coffee. But
[19:13] Speaker 3: it's just an excitement.
[19:14] Speaker 4: And that's why they call me the financial motivator because
[19:16] Speaker 4: you know, I have a special way of using that
[19:20] Speaker 4: excitement for life to teach you about finance. Because I
[19:23] Speaker 4: also believe that abundance is our birth right, and so
[19:26] Speaker 4: it's not something that we should be begging for. It
[19:30] Speaker 4: isn't something that we should be compromising ourselves for. It
[19:33] Speaker 4: is our actual birth right. And the more you can
[19:37] Speaker 4: get to the money, the more you can get to
[19:39] Speaker 4: your to the money, the more you can get.
[19:41] Speaker 3: To the purpose.
[19:41] Speaker 4: Right, So when you start leading with purpose and you
[19:44] Speaker 4: start doing and being who you are every single day,
[19:48] Speaker 4: that is what's going to allow you to command the
[19:51] Speaker 4: income that you want to command. And the more income, right,
[19:55] Speaker 4: I know Biggie said, more money, more problems, But the
[19:57] Speaker 4: more income the more impact.
[20:00] Speaker 3: Right, More income, more impact. And so that's what it's about.
[20:03] Speaker 4: It's about having motivating people to get to the bag, right,
[20:06] Speaker 4: motivating people to get to that financial abundance that's their birthright,
[20:10] Speaker 4: so that way.
[20:11] Speaker 3: They can have more impact. Right.
[20:13] Speaker 4: I've been broke before, right, I've had I've been at
[20:16] Speaker 4: spaces where I'm counting and figuring out how my pay bills.
[20:19] Speaker 4: I'm not my one hundred percent self, right, I'm not
[20:22] Speaker 4: giving you all of ash cash if I'm trying to
[20:25] Speaker 4: figure out how I'm a rob Peter to pay Paul.
[20:27] Speaker 4: But but I promise you when I when I, when
[20:30] Speaker 4: I'm in my purpose and the income is matching the impact,
[20:33] Speaker 4: I get the impact more. And so it's that motivation
[20:36] Speaker 4: piece is very, very necessary.
[20:38] Speaker 1: And it's very so. By the way, I don't drink
[20:40] Speaker 1: call for either. I don't drink tea, I don't drink
[20:43] Speaker 1: I call it no because I just don't like the taste.
[20:45] Speaker 2: If people do it, I'm proud of and so so
[20:48] Speaker 2: because again is my I get up because my body
[20:51] Speaker 2: tell me and get up. But I always tell people
[20:53] Speaker 2: this the reason I get up because I have a
[20:55] Speaker 2: reason to get up a lot of people just go
[20:57] Speaker 2: to bed ash. They just dive in bed and and
[21:00] Speaker 2: then when the alarm go off, they mad or they don't know.
[21:03] Speaker 2: But when that alarm go off, what drags me out
[21:06] Speaker 2: of bed is that I know what I have to do,
[21:08] Speaker 2: and it's by planning for success and about putting forth
[21:11] Speaker 2: that effort. And so when you, like you said with
[21:13] Speaker 2: Bigger said more money, more problems, all he's saying is, look,
[21:17] Speaker 2: you can get more money, which means that you're gonna
[21:19] Speaker 2: have to put more effort on what you're gonna do
[21:20] Speaker 2: with it. And that's what this conversation that we're having
[21:23] Speaker 2: is by effort. Everybody wants to be a great athlete,
[21:26] Speaker 2: everybody wants to be a great singer. Everybody wants to
[21:29] Speaker 2: be rich. Everybody wants a big house. Taxes come with that,
[21:33] Speaker 2: electrical bills, come with.
[21:34] Speaker 1: That, gas bill, all of its much more.
[21:36] Speaker 3: You know.
[21:37] Speaker 2: I remember when I was reading John salad. When he
[21:39] Speaker 2: had his house, he bought the big house in Detroit.
[21:41] Speaker 2: He said he had like a seventeen thousand dollars electric billy.
[21:45] Speaker 1: Guess what.
[21:46] Speaker 2: He bought a big house that who came with it?
[21:48] Speaker 2: He kept the lights on. He all those bedrooms have
[21:51] Speaker 2: to be all the tall, all that stuff come with it.
[21:53] Speaker 2: And that's what more money, more problem. As a motivator,
[21:57] Speaker 2: what do you what do you tell people who get
[21:59] Speaker 2: frustrated when the dream isn't what they thought it would
[22:02] Speaker 2: be when they arrived.
[22:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think that. So the first thing
[22:07] Speaker 4: I tell them, uh, is be grateful. Be grateful that
[22:11] Speaker 4: you know that this is this isn't what you want. Yes, right,
[22:14] Speaker 4: It is as important to know what you don't want
[22:18] Speaker 4: as it is to know what you do want, right,
[22:20] Speaker 4: because knowing what you don't want will get you to
[22:22] Speaker 4: what you want faster. There are many things that I
[22:25] Speaker 4: thought I wanted. I was like, oh this is Oh,
[22:27] Speaker 4: this is it. I'm gonna put my blood, sweat in tears.
[22:30] Speaker 4: And then I get to this destination and I'm like, oh,
[22:32] Speaker 4: that's it. But now it kind of it kind of
[22:36] Speaker 4: weeds out all of the all of the all of
[22:38] Speaker 4: the things, and so I don't I don't you know,
[22:40] Speaker 4: I don't think it's a loss.
[22:42] Speaker 5: Right.
[22:42] Speaker 4: A loss isn't a loss, it's a lesson, right, And
[22:45] Speaker 4: so it's not a loss, it's really a lesson. And
[22:47] Speaker 4: so for those who get frustrated, I think I think
[22:49] Speaker 4: frustration is a great tool if you use it right, right,
[22:54] Speaker 4: Because some people use frustration as a way to stop.
[22:58] Speaker 4: Some people use frustration as a way to get up.
[23:00] Speaker 4: Some people use frustration to say, you know what, I'm
[23:02] Speaker 4: not doing this no more. But you need to know
[23:04] Speaker 4: you have to use frustration as a barometer, right, I'll
[23:07] Speaker 4: give I'll give you an example. If you ever are
[23:11] Speaker 4: driving late night on any any highway right, and for
[23:15] Speaker 4: whatever reasons, you get tired and you start veering left,
[23:18] Speaker 4: what's gonna happen. You're gonna you're gonna run across those
[23:21] Speaker 4: ridgids in the road.
[23:22] Speaker 1: It's gonna wake you up.
[23:24] Speaker 3: It's gonna make that noise, it's gonna wake you up.
[23:26] Speaker 3: Imagine if the ridges weren't there, the ridges.
[23:28] Speaker 4: Weren't there, you'll probably hit the divider, You'll you'll swirl around,
[23:32] Speaker 4: your cause a bad accident. And so those ridges on
[23:36] Speaker 4: the side when you get tired and you start you
[23:38] Speaker 4: start veering left or beering right. It's a it's a
[23:40] Speaker 4: it's a wake up call. It's like, yo, wake up
[23:42] Speaker 4: about you gotta get up, You're about to crash.
[23:46] Speaker 3: Frustration is that negative negativity, right, negative feelings. It's that,
[23:50] Speaker 3: it's not it's not for you to scoff at it.
[23:53] Speaker 3: It is a It is a barometer when you start.
[23:56] Speaker 4: Doing something, you start to get frustrated and you're like,
[23:59] Speaker 4: I hate this, then just don't stop.
[24:01] Speaker 3: Just take it as a sign that you need to regroup.
[24:04] Speaker 4: That the negativity, that negative feeling that you have is
[24:08] Speaker 4: telling you that you are on the wrong track. And
[24:12] Speaker 4: now you got to figure out how do I how
[24:14] Speaker 4: do I go back to the middle, How do I
[24:16] Speaker 4: go back to this road?
[24:18] Speaker 3: So I could go in the direction I need to go.
[24:20] Speaker 4: And so anybody who's feeling frustration, good, good that you're frustrated.
[24:24] Speaker 4: You either care about this thing or you're not supposed
[24:27] Speaker 4: to be doing it. So now take a step back,
[24:29] Speaker 4: analyze why are you frustrating? How can you release this frustration?
[24:33] Speaker 4: And what should you be doing?
[24:35] Speaker 3: Because now that you know what you don't want to
[24:38] Speaker 3: do or don't like to do, what are the things
[24:39] Speaker 3: that you should be doing?
[24:41] Speaker 2: Thank you for that, But the other ways you're promoting yourself,
[24:43] Speaker 2: you have to ask cast show or daily live financial
[24:45] Speaker 2: news show which streams money through Friday eight am to
[24:48] Speaker 2: nine am Eastern Standard time, and it provides what we
[24:51] Speaker 2: just hear it motivation and advice on finance, entrepreneurship and more.
[24:55] Speaker 2: And then I've appeared on the Vault with ass Cash
[24:58] Speaker 2: where he speaks for successful tastes, makers and entrepreneurs on
[25:01] Speaker 2: their mindset. When you started tapping into my mindset?
[25:05] Speaker 1: What was your walk away?
[25:06] Speaker 3: Yeah? Ah man, So so it was first of all,
[25:09] Speaker 3: it was a classic.
[25:09] Speaker 4: It was an honor to even just be in your
[25:12] Speaker 4: presence because you know, as I said on the show,
[25:14] Speaker 4: there was so there was so much.
[25:17] Speaker 3: I'm always the behind the scenes guy, right, what's making this?
[25:20] Speaker 3: What's making this tick?
[25:22] Speaker 4: But when I started tapping into your mindset, the one
[25:24] Speaker 4: thing that that stood out to me is that it
[25:28] Speaker 4: it was your resilience, right, was your ability to not
[25:32] Speaker 4: allow nothing, honestly, right, nothing.
[25:35] Speaker 3: To stop you.
[25:36] Speaker 4: That you set a goal, right, and you see the
[25:39] Speaker 4: vision for that goal, and you go after that goal regardless, right,
[25:42] Speaker 4: even when there are obstacles because you've had a lot
[25:46] Speaker 4: of obstacles in your life.
[25:47] Speaker 3: There were things that the normal person.
[25:50] Speaker 4: Right, and I'm using normal as a you know, just
[25:53] Speaker 4: as a word, right, the normal person would have given up,
[25:57] Speaker 4: given the the obstacles, given the things that that had
[26:00] Speaker 4: happened in your life. But but but the but but
[26:03] Speaker 4: your mindset, you know, I don't even think you understand
[26:06] Speaker 4: what giving up means, to be honest, right, because there
[26:09] Speaker 4: were even moments in our interview that you said something
[26:13] Speaker 4: that that the normal persons would have been more emotionally
[26:17] Speaker 4: attached to it, like oh.
[26:18] Speaker 3: This happened, right, But but you was like, oh yeah, yeah,
[26:21] Speaker 3: it was just that, you know, and I was like,
[26:23] Speaker 3: whoa like again?
[26:25] Speaker 4: So so I think I think I think that mindset
[26:27] Speaker 4: of you know, you know, you know, resiliency, that I
[26:32] Speaker 4: know that the goal is this, and I know on
[26:35] Speaker 4: my way to that goal, they're gonna be some some obstacles.
[26:39] Speaker 4: They're gonna be some roadblocks, they're gonna be some detoys,
[26:41] Speaker 4: they're gonna be some things. But that's not gonna stop me.
[26:44] Speaker 4: That's actually right, Like failure is actually part of success.
[26:47] Speaker 4: That's why I got that that that that the failures,
[26:50] Speaker 4: the roadblocks, the the things that you might stumble on
[26:53] Speaker 4: are part of your role to success or.
[26:55] Speaker 3: Resiliency is that word that I would definitely attribute to you.
[26:59] Speaker 1: Well, thank you. You know the beauty of you is that.
[27:03] Speaker 2: My blessing is that meeting people who make me better
[27:08] Speaker 2: and being interviewed by you, sitting around your crew. I
[27:11] Speaker 2: walked away a better person, a better leader, a motivation
[27:15] Speaker 2: because sometimes you get trapped into rhythms. And that's why
[27:18] Speaker 2: I always tell people to experience. That's why people tell
[27:20] Speaker 2: you to go on vacation, so go to different destinations
[27:23] Speaker 2: so you can see things.
[27:24] Speaker 1: And then either.
[27:25] Speaker 2: Frustrate you, which I love that because I love two
[27:27] Speaker 2: words that you starked double one word you say, frustration
[27:30] Speaker 2: that people don't understand the value of that. Selfishness. On
[27:33] Speaker 2: my side, people don't understand the value of that because
[27:35] Speaker 2: they take it negative. They do two negative words frustration
[27:38] Speaker 2: and selfishness, where really those are the keys to you
[27:41] Speaker 2: success because you selfishness is denying yourself and taking advantage
[27:46] Speaker 2: of every hour in or twenty four hours. That's selfishness.
[27:49] Speaker 2: Say man, look if I got to get it done,
[27:51] Speaker 2: I gotta get it done. That's overcoming and the frustration
[27:54] Speaker 2: that most people say, I can't get it done because
[27:56] Speaker 2: I don't.
[27:57] Speaker 1: Have enough time. I've never understood what that meant, not
[28:00] Speaker 1: enough time? Are you awake? Do you have your help?
[28:02] Speaker 1: God bless you to get up? You have enough time?
[28:05] Speaker 1: Set some goals and what we did done.
[28:07] Speaker 2: But the number one thing about it, and that's why
[28:08] Speaker 2: I'm recommending people to you know, just see your your
[28:12] Speaker 2: show The Strange Money through Friday eight am to nine
[28:14] Speaker 2: nine Easter Standard time. You're NonStop. And my complimented about
[28:18] Speaker 2: you and being the Biggie Smalls of financial motivation was
[28:22] Speaker 2: as as ultimate compliment as I can get because you
[28:24] Speaker 2: you got the lyrics, and the lyrics is financial literacy.
[28:28] Speaker 2: And if somebody is speaking it or they say coming
[28:30] Speaker 2: off the dome, as you are in financial literacy.
[28:33] Speaker 1: Take that crowd, baby, where to the right? Like Bigger
[28:36] Speaker 1: had it?
[28:38] Speaker 3: Absolutely I appreciate that of his life.
[28:40] Speaker 2: So what's the future for you? Let's let's wrap it up.
[28:42] Speaker 2: Let's talk about what's your what's your future next step goals?
[28:45] Speaker 3: I mean, I mean the the future.
[28:47] Speaker 4: The future was un Emmy Award talk show, but now
[28:52] Speaker 4: the future is egot.
[28:53] Speaker 1: If you know you know.
[28:57] Speaker 3: Emmy.
[28:57] Speaker 1: Uh, you know, Tony, the future is a Grammy.
[29:03] Speaker 3: The future is an Oscar. The future is a Tony
[29:06] Speaker 3: and you know courtesy of Rashaul McDonald. Uh so I
[29:09] Speaker 3: received that.
[29:11] Speaker 4: But you know, the future is really for me just
[29:15] Speaker 4: continuing to do what I do every single day, but
