Every new challenge has a way of looking like a mountain — too steep, too large, too dangerous to imagine actually reaching the top of. A broken relationship, a health crisis, a stressful work situation: whatever form the mountain takes in your life right now, the instinct to stand at the base and feel overwhelmed is entirely human. The Israelites felt it when they stood at the edge of the Promised Land. Most of the spies looked at the same land Caleb looked at and came back convinced they could not do it. Caleb saw the same obstacles. He did not pretend the giants were small. But he chose to believe that God was bigger than the mountain, and that wholehearted trust in God was the only reasonable response to what they were facing. Numbers 14:24 records God's response to that kind of faith: He called Caleb a man with a different spirit, and He promised that Caleb would enter and inherit the land. That same invitation is extended to every believer facing a mountain today. Following God wholeheartedly means stopping focusing on the size of the challenge and starting to focus on the unlimited power of the God who is leading the climb. It means taking the first step even when afraid. And it means understanding that your faith in the face of giant obstacles is never just for you — it leaves a legacy for everyone watching, building their courage to face their own mountains when the time comes. Today's Bible Verse "But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it." — Numbers 14:24, NIV Ponder Today • A different spirit sees the same obstacles through the eyes of faith. Caleb did not deny the giants were real. He simply chose to believe God was bigger. That choice — not the absence of fear, but the presence of trust — is what set him apart. • Wholehearted following means going all in, not giving God half your trust while keeping the other half in your own strength. Caleb did not hedge. He committed completely. That kind of faith is what God honors and what opens the door to the inheritance He has prepared. • Remember how God has helped you before. The same God who met your needs in past challenges is the God climbing this mountain with you now. His track record of faithfulness is the foundation for trust in the present moment. • You do not need to know how you will reach the summit — you only need to trust the Guide. Taking the first step in faith, without a clear view of what comes next, is often the most important step in the entire climb. • Your faith in the face of giant obstacles leaves a legacy for others. The people watching you climb your mountain with confidence in God are having their own faith built. Your obedience is never just about you. A Prayer for You Today Dear God, I am facing a challenge right now that makes me feel like I am standing at the base of a mountain. The path ahead seems steep and the challenge feels enormous. But I do not want to live with a spirit of fear or doubt. I want to have a different spirit, just like Caleb did. So I choose to follow You wholeheartedly. Fight anxiety for me and guide me up this mountain with faith. Remind me of Your past faithfulness whenever I start to give in to fear or doubt. You are the Creator of the mountains, and nothing I face is too hard for You to help me overcome. Give me the courage to look past the mountain of my challenge and fix my eyes on Your unlimited strength. I believe You are walking with me through every single step of this climb. Use this season to grow my faith and let it inspire the people around me. In Jesus' name, Amen. [0:13] Speaker 2: Thank you for listening to your daily prayer, where we
[0:16] Speaker 2: help you find the words you need to connect to
[0:18] Speaker 2: your Father in Heaven. No matter what is happening in
[0:21] Speaker 2: your life today, you can trust that God wants to
[0:24] Speaker 2: hear from you. Right after this short word from our sponsors,
[0:27] Speaker 2: will pray that today's prayer for faith like Caleb to
[0:31] Speaker 2: climb your new mountain. A Prayer for faith like Caleb
[0:53] Speaker 2: to climb your new Mountain, written by Whitney Hoppler, read
[0:58] Speaker 2: by Harry Eickberger. But because my servant Caleb has a
[1:03] Speaker 2: different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him
[1:06] Speaker 2: into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit.
[1:10] Speaker 2: It numbers fourteen, verse twenty four. What new challenge are
[1:15] Speaker 2: you facing right now? That challenge can seem as overwhelming
[1:20] Speaker 2: as a mountain. Maybe that mountain is a broken relationship,
[1:25] Speaker 2: a challenging health issue, or a stressful work situation. When
[1:29] Speaker 2: you looked at the overwhelming size of it, you may
[1:32] Speaker 2: feel afraid and worried about how you're going to be
[1:35] Speaker 2: able to climb the mountain you're facing. That's how the
[1:39] Speaker 2: people of Israel felt when they first stood at the
[1:41] Speaker 2: edge of the Promised Land. God had brought them out
[1:44] Speaker 2: of slavery and even performed a miracle for them by
[1:48] Speaker 2: parting the Red Sea so they could cross over quickly.
[1:52] Speaker 2: But when they sent spies to look at the land,
[1:55] Speaker 2: most of them came back afraid and worried that they
[1:58] Speaker 2: couldn't really trust God's promise to help them overcome their challenges.
[2:03] Speaker 1: But Caleb was different.
[2:05] Speaker 2: Along with his fellows by Joshua, Caleb looked at the
[2:09] Speaker 2: same Promised Land that the others biased it, but he
[2:13] Speaker 2: saw it through the eyes of faith.
[2:15] Speaker 1: He didn't deny.
[2:16] Speaker 2: That there were tremendous obstacles to overcome. Instead, Caleb chose
[2:21] Speaker 2: to believe that God was much bigger than the mountain
[2:25] Speaker 2: of a challenge they faced. Because Caleb trusted God completely,
[2:30] Speaker 2: God promised that Caleb would eventually enter the Promised Land
[2:34] Speaker 2: and claim it. God is calling you to approach your
[2:38] Speaker 2: own obstacles with that same different spirit that Caleb had.
[2:44] Speaker 1: You can do so by choosing not.
[2:46] Speaker 2: To worry and to trust God instead. In this fallen world,
[2:51] Speaker 2: you'll always have some kind of challenges to deal with,
[2:55] Speaker 2: but you'll also always have access to help from God
[3:00] Speaker 2: to overcome those challenges.
[3:02] Speaker 1: Caleb followed God wholeheartedly.
[3:05] Speaker 2: He didn't give God half of his trust while keeping
[3:08] Speaker 2: the other half in his own strength.
[3:11] Speaker 1: Caleb went all in.
[3:14] Speaker 2: When you face a new mountain, you can follow God
[3:17] Speaker 2: wholeheartedly by stopping focusing on the size of your challenge
[3:22] Speaker 2: and start focusing on God's unlimited power. Remember how God
[3:27] Speaker 2: has answered your prayers by helping you in the past.
[3:31] Speaker 2: The same God who met all your needs when you
[3:35] Speaker 2: face big challenges before, is the God who will climb
[3:39] Speaker 2: this new mountain of challenge with you. You have to
[3:42] Speaker 2: take action to climb a mountain. You need to take
[3:46] Speaker 2: the first steps even when you're afraid. But you can
[3:49] Speaker 2: overcome fear by just moving forward with faith. You don't
[3:54] Speaker 2: need to know how you will reach the summit of
[3:56] Speaker 2: a mountain. You only need to trust the guide whose
[3:59] Speaker 2: personally leading you right now. God gave Caleb this powerful promise.
[4:05] Speaker 2: I will bring him into the land he went to,
[4:08] Speaker 2: and his descendants will inherit it.
[4:10] Speaker 1: Your obedience and faith are not just about you.
[4:14] Speaker 2: When you choose to trust God in the face of
[4:17] Speaker 2: giant obstacles, you leave a legacy for the people watching you,
[4:22] Speaker 2: your children, friends, and everyone who knows you. Are inspired
[4:26] Speaker 2: when they see your confidence in God that builds their faith.
[4:31] Speaker 2: By climbing your mountain with a spirit of wholehearted following
[4:35] Speaker 2: of God, you help pave a path for others to
[4:39] Speaker 2: climb their own mountains. So don't let thee rob you
[4:42] Speaker 2: of the inheritance God has prepared for you. The mountain
[4:46] Speaker 2: you face looks intimidating, but it's also the same place
[4:51] Speaker 2: where you'll experience God's presence and provision in completely new ways.
[4:57] Speaker 2: Let's pray, Dear God. I'm facing a challenge right now
[5:02] Speaker 2: that makes me feel like I'm standing at the base
[5:05] Speaker 2: of a mountain. I confess that it looks incredibly big
[5:09] Speaker 2: to me. The path ahead seems steep and dangerous. I'm
[5:13] Speaker 2: afraid and overwhelmed when I think about what it will
[5:17] Speaker 2: take to climb this mountain and overcome this challenge. But
[5:21] Speaker 2: I don't want to live with a spirit of fear
[5:23] Speaker 2: or doubt. I want to have a different spirit, just
[5:26] Speaker 2: like your servant Caleb did.
[5:28] Speaker 1: So God, I choose to follow you wholeheartedly.
[5:32] Speaker 2: Please fight anxiety for me and guide me up this
[5:35] Speaker 2: mountain with faith.
[5:37] Speaker 1: I trust your promises.
[5:39] Speaker 2: Remind me of your past faithfulness whenever I start to
[5:43] Speaker 2: give in to fear or doubt.
[5:45] Speaker 1: You are the creator of.
[5:46] Speaker 2: The mountains, and nothing I face is.
[5:49] Speaker 1: Too hard for you to help me overcome. Please give
[5:52] Speaker 1: me the courage to look.
[5:53] Speaker 2: Past the mountain of my challenge and focus on your
[5:56] Speaker 2: unlimited strength. I believe that you are walking with me
[6:00] Speaker 2: through every single step of this climb. Please use this
[6:04] Speaker 2: challenging season to help me grow closer to you and
[6:08] Speaker 2: let my faith inspire the people around me. I'll move
[6:12] Speaker 2: forward with confidence that you'll help me climb this mountain successfully.
